Given the ever changing and quick paced life of the millennials, the American short story has gone
through changes as well. Society norms are shifting, reflecting the present values of a culture that
demands acceptance in religion, gender, and race. As with all the ages of the American short story,
the author s writings are affected by the social and cultural changes around them. Through the
advancements of the internet and mass media globalization of information accelerated rapidly. This
brought an awareness of global warming, environmental pollution, and third world poverty to the
American public. Knowledge of these problems has brought with it, controversy regarding the

History of Christianity and the Christian Church
1)Paul s main message was that through Jesus, God would give pardon to those who trusted and
believed him. He also believed that people can begin the process of salvation present in their
own life. He spoke of agape. This is unconditional love. He believed all of Christian concern
circled around this. Jesus s teachings are more about the life her and now. So when he talked
about the Kingdom of Heaven, he was thinking of a kingdom here on earth, while Paul thought
more about a metaphorical kingdom of people who believe. Another big difference is that Paul
believed people are justification by faith; while Jesus focused on doing things repenting, being

emperor because the Byzantines had stood up to barbarians and upheld the faith for years and they

into two: Rome Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Catholics. Things that contributed to the schism
were the fact that the Roman Catholics tended to be in the west and the Orthodox in the east, and as

Barely minutes after 3 AM on June 28th 1969, what had been a police raid on a known LGBT
club located in New York, known as the Stonewall Inn turned violent. Outside, hundreds of
protesters and sympathizers began rioting against the sudden police force. While the NYPD had
been justified in closing down the club, the events which would follow over the next six days

In research studies with human and animal participation, researchers must adhere to ethical
principles to ensure the rights of participants are protected. In 1978, the Belmont Report was issued
which articulated three primary ethical principles on which standards of ethical research conduct
was based: beneficence, respect for human dignity, and justice ( Polit Beck, 2014, p. 83). These
ethical principles remain the standards for research behavior today.

It is known that one of the most difficult things to do, is survive on sea in terms of a survival
situation. (Grade Saver). Surviving on sea is one difficult thing to do on your own although
imagine doing it with a Bengal tiger? Not imaginable, but it did happen with Piscine Molitor
Patel of Pondicherry India. Pi survives on sea for seven months (227) days from India to the coast
of Mexico mentally and physically because he had hope, Richard Parker, and religion. Without
these three things he may not have survived because he speaks about the importance of these things
to him and the role that they play in his life and the influence they have on him on this treacherous,
lengthy journey.

Educational Experience For Learners Of All Ages
The arts are essential to providing a healthy educational experience for learners of all ages.
Though treated by many as frivolous subjects, they provide vital tools for communication,
engagement and successful instruction. It makes sense to incorporate the arts across the
curriculum not only will schools improve, but students will develop important social and
emotional skills, we will save money in the long run by keeping our students learning and engaged
in work, and we will make the world a more beautiful place. To quote Charles Fowler (1994),
The arts are not pretty bulletin boards. They are not turkeys and bunny rabbits. They are not
frivolous entertainment. The arts are our humanity. They are the languages of civilization through

The Historical Context In The Catcher In The Rye
The historical context in The Catcher in the Rye reveals the book was written during a period of
anguish. As stated by Daniel Burt, ...a prosperous postwar period that gave rise to suburban
conformity and teenage angst, (Burt 2). This quote states that what was going on in society at
that time was how Holden was feeling. The feeling of teenage rebellion and depression were
taking over his life and leading him to do immoral things. Based on the quote above, we can see
how Holden created a cultural mordancy that his readers can easily detect, leading to the
thought that this book was created under the impression of loss and a world gone wrong. Burt
writes, Salinger s novel, observes Louis Menand, provides adolescents with a layer of psychic
insulation. Critic Harold Bloom speaks to the novel s enduring influence when he states, The

America were slowly separating themselves from the crown. It starts with radical kings in Europe
who cause so much disruption that a civil war occurs. The colonies worked together to fend for

colonies only pushed them farther away. If England had always kept a firm hand on the colonies,

spectacular show. At around 3:30 am, the flash of a massive phoenix made an appearance and was
gone just as fast. This astronomical phenomenon is called an aurora. The vibrant lights that move
across the dark skies attract the attention of many stargazers, tourists, and astronomers. As a result
of the large attraction, astronomers have studied the interaction between the earth s atmosphere,
magnetic field, and the suns energy. The sun is a vital piece to our planet it provides us with
energy, warmth, food and auroras! The sun is an average star in size and is currently in the main

where the energy travels outward through radiation, then convection, and finally out through the

Family Relationships With My Family
For two year, the first year my mother left dad, we lived with my maternal grandparents.
Although, I was toddler at the time I still acknowledge their efforts and support for a period my
family needed it the most. They occasionally visited for Christmas and for four of their
granddaughters quince, including mine. I visited them four times in Mexico. Because they live in
Mexico is it hard to keep constant contact with them. But they both had a huge influence and I have
great respect for them. When they visited Nebraska, they stayed in the household for a couples of
weeks. The most important extended familyrelationships are with my mom s sisters and brother

The most important relationship outside my immediate family is with my cousin Brenda because
she is my best friend. We are only three months apart from each other and have many similarities.
We attended elementary and high school together. I honestly do not think our parents would have
handle us in the same middle school. We both attend UNL for our undergraduate. This year she
moved to Colorado for graduate school. I spend a lot of time at her house, therefore, her parents
had a huge impact on my upbringing. Her parents, my aunt Carmen and uncle Javier, would also

After his first counseling session, we got a phone call saying he was no longer allowed to live
with us, but he come visit as long as there was another adult with him. This only happened as a
result of the counselor being concerned for my well being. So right now, my family is torn apart
and struggling more than before. I m hoping that soon he will be able to come back home so we

In his early 19th century narrative The Sandman, E.T.A. Hoffmann attempts to express the

particular utilizes Klara and Olympia to exemplify Nathaniel s objectification of either of them and
his sub conscious ownership over both women. While Hoffmann degrades the standing of the
women in the narrative, he subsequently draws on an obsession with outward appearance and
beauty that is comparable to the Pygmalion myth. As Pygmalion attempts to have physical
possession over the beauty of his sculpture, Hoffmann similarly paints Nathaniel as irrationally
pursuing the possession or ownership of beauty through the female characters. Through the
symbolic objectification of the female characters and the obsessive sexualized actions of Nathaniel,
Hoffmann draws a parallel to the Pygmalion myth as beauty, grace, and sexuality become the
apparent paramount measure of value and also reveals the pitfalls created by such obsessions.
