Summary Of The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock
In T. S. Eliot s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock , the title alone is ironic because throughout
the poem Prufrock struggles with being unable to talk to anyone, yet the poem is supposed to be
a love song (Eliot). The epigraph of the poem is quoted directly from Dante s Inferno , the
translation says If I thought that my answer were being made to someone who would ever
return to earth, this flame would remain without further movement; but since no one has ever
returned alive from this depth, if what I hear is true, I answer you without fear of infamy (qtd.
in Eliot). This quote correlates to the way Prufrock tells us his fears and feelings due to the
reader being unable to tell the people in the poem what Prufrock says. In the first line, Prufrock
says Let us go then, you and I (Eliot, ln. 1), the you in the poem is not directly referred to as the
reader or the recipient of the love song (Eliot). The first stanza sets in place that this is not a love
song like the title says. It begins by comparing the sky to a patient etherized upon a table (Eliot,
ln. 3) and offers to take the you in the poem down half deserted streets, .... Restless nights in one
night cheap hotels and sawdust restaurants with oyster shells (Eliot, ln. 4 7) which are not places
you go for a romantic setting. These thoughts lead him to an overwhelming question, but begs
do not ask, What is it? (Eliot, ln. 11 12). In the third stanza, Prufrock switches from the present
tense in which he says Let us go (Eliot, ln. 1) to saying there will be time (Eliot, ln. 23) which
shows how the question he doesn t want to answer is causing him to prepare a face to meet the
faces that you meet (Eliot, ln. 27). Every decision he tries to make leads to a hundred
indecisions, and time yet for a hundred visions and revisions before the taking of a toast and tea
(Eliot, ln. 31 34). This indecisiveness to a lack in self confidence beginning with Do I dare?
...With a bald spot in the middle of my hair (Eliot, ln. 38 40). He asks Do I dare disturb the
universe? ...for decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse (Eliot, ln. 45 49), he is now

where spirituality and humanity supersedes capitalism and profits. Aravind Eye Care System

The answer is a matrix of functions across product divisions. The entire Aravind Eye Care System
encompasses five hospitals, a manufacturing center for ophthalmic products, an international

implemented properly, this approach will produce constant time to market laterally with product
excellence and the dismissal of product line redundancies within the organization at Aravind. Under
these conditions, the patient is healthier assisted with a matrix approach. Therefore, leadership must
elucidate positions, and responsibilities, established priorities, streamline processes, recompense
collaboration and reject the silos as well as the command and controllers.
4. What are the advantages for a nonprofit to be self sustaining?
A nonprofit organization (NPO), can be self sustaining by adhering to some very simple rules. A
nonprofit is described as an organization that Operates for the common good and not for generating
individual wealth: does not distribute its profits to individuals who control the organization such as
its members, officers, directors, or trustees. While a non profit organization can make a profit, the
profit it earns must be used toward the core missions of the organization and not towards any
personal benefits (Bennett, 2013). One of the enormous challenges that a

Why Is The Industrial Revolution Harmful
The Industrial Revolution was a time period between the 1800s and the 1900s where there was
many new inventions and ideas. During the Industrial Revolution factories started to be more
popular all over the United States. Also, new types of transportation like the steamships, trains and
automobiles brought safer and faster traveling. The Industrial Revolutionwas a time that encouraged
change, but that change was not always a good one. The period of rapid industrial growth during
the 1800s and into the early 1900s was more harmful because pollution, poor working conditions
and labor strikes (Homestead Strike, Haymarket Affair, Pullman Strike). The Industrial Revolution

In 1892 the contract between the AAISW and the Carnegie Steel Company expired (White). At
the same time the price of steel in the early 1890s was falling. Frick, worried about the price cuts,
decided to use the expiring contract to cut wages and take power away from the employees. The
disputes between the Union and Carnegie s company led up to what came to be known as the
Homestead Strike of 1892. Wage cuts to workers were not helpful, and it wasn t fair to workers
who were working many hours a day, in horrible working conditions to lose pay. After Frick made
labor cuts workers decided to negotiate, but these negotiations went nowhere. So, the workers
started to protest demanding higher wages and barricading themselves in the factory. When Frick
saw what the workers were doing he hired Pinkertons to come and break up the strike. This ended
up with multiple deaths and many injuries. Another huge labor dispute was the Pullman Strike in
1894. The Struggle Between Business and Labor reading described the Pullman Strike. The
narrator states, When the Pullman Company refused to negotiate, American Railway Union
president Eugene V. Debs called on all U.S. railroad workers to refuse to handle Pullman cars. Rail

Martin Luther And The Reformation
Thesis Statement
The purpose of my paper will reflect the life of Martin Luther during the Reformation period and the
changes brought forth as a result of his teachings and writings. Luther s findings not only
transformed his own actions, but change the thought process of millions. The study of Martin Luther
is the key that unlocks the background of the Protestant Reformation and it s origins.
Introduction
Research on Martin Luther was chosen to demonstrate the importance of his works, and decisions
that not only fueled his purpose, but changed the church for generations to come. Martin Luther
propelled himself into his work and was not afraid of voicing his often strong opinion of the
Catholic Church. Luther s Ninety Five Theses provides readers his opinion of the church, calling
out failures, and known corruption of leaders within.
Foundation
Martin Luther was born on November 10th, 1483 in Eisleben, Germany. He was the son of Hans
and Margareth Luder. His father worked in a copper mine, and through years of hard work they
became fruitful. Through his own personal struggles Hans Luder did not want the same life for
beloved Martin. Education and faith played a huge role during Luther s adolescent years as he
learned Latin and law and continue to excel in these areas well into his adulthood. This
development would continue to shape Luther s beliefs and principles. In the early 1500s, Luther
was able to continue his studies near Erfurt.

Analysis Of Disgrace By J. M. Coetzee
The three literary qualities, namely the test of time, its availability and impact on life as well as
the ability to gain understanding of the era in which the book is written, will be identified in the
three preselected works in order to determine whether these can be considered as literature.
Firstly, the novel Disgrace is evaluated according to the three literary qualities. The novel
Disgrace by J.M. Coetzee is written in 1999. This means that the most important quality, the test
of time, is not yet valid for Disgrace . The novel is written 16 years ago and does not comply to
Dr Johnson s thought that a book has passed the test of time when the book is still read after a
hundred years.
Even though, the book is written recently, the book has made an impact on the social, cultural and
academic factors in South Africa. The book deals with the issues of the post apartheid era in South
Africa which started, after the change of the government in 1994. These issues are often related to
the social, cultural and academic factors which people have experienced after the apartheid era has
ended. Moreover, the context in which the novel is written, as ... Show more content on

Scientific Revolution Dbq Essay
Tits
The Scientific Revolution of the fifteen and sixteen hundreds heralded the progression towards a
new era of rational and mathematical thinking. Instead of relying on the ideas of the ancient Greeks
as Renaissance philosophers did, the contributors of the Scientific Revolution began to look to the
world around them for answers. The scientists and philosophers of the sixteenth and seventeenth
centuries were surrounded by an amalgam of social, political, and religious factors that would
influence the method in which they introduced their theories and findings to the world. These
factors often supported and promoted the growth of the Sciences, but only when they adhered to the
motives of a higher power. Oftentimes, scientific inquiry was suppressed by powerful forces
determined to maintain their grip ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These institutions, such as the Royal Society of London, were prominent social institutions that
allowed for the promotion of the sciences. Henry Oldenburg, a Secretary of the English Royal
Society, appreciated the devotion to truth of the academics of these societies and expressed the
importance of friendship and communication within the scientific domain. These societies were
vital to the survival and expansion of sciences and a great aid to the investigation and elucidation
of the truth (Doc. 6). However, the immense cultural and social influence of the institutions of
sharing did not include everyone. Women were blocked from nearly any form of scientific
experiment or inquiry. Margaret Cavendish, an English natural philosopher and the first woman to
visit a meeting of the Royal Society, illustrates the disregard of the female sex in sciences (Doc. 9).
Unsurprisingly, men continued to oppress women and block any and all paths to gaining social
standing. Science, like almost all other domains, continued to be controlled by

Macroscopic Evidence Of A Chemical Reaction Lab Report
1.What type of macroscopic evidence for chemical change did you observe during this
experiment? Give at least three different examples. (15 points) The main evidence of chemical
change in this lab is the change in color, production of gas, and the production of precipitate.
These reactions can be seen from just a little bit of reaction all the way up to a complete change
of the entire sample tested. Some samples of those tested in this experiment which showed the
chemical reaction were the baking soda/ammonia mixture, the Epson salt and baking soda mixture
as well as the food coloring mixed with the baking soda and bleach. 2.Which reactions, if any, do
you believe showed no evidence of chemical change? Justify your reasoning. (15 points) There was
one combination that did not have any reaction when tested. This combination was the MgSO4 and
CH3COOH. The reason that the reaction did not happen is because they created a mixture and not

Unforgiven High Noon Essay
Unforgiven, High Noon High noon, an American Western movie debuted in 1952. The movie
has been awarded an Oscar Award in the best pictures category. The theme of the movie is on
how the western side of United States was captured. The setting of the movie portrays a mixture
of good and bad people in a settlement where they have different perspectives of life. The bad
people use inhuman ways to achieve their goals while good people, especially those living in the
town are law abiding citizens, who take care of each other. The latter always use honest means in
achieving their goals. The aim of this essay is to elaborate on different questions that are frequently
asked regarding the movie. Though there are different characters in the filmthat are portrayed as
good people due to their roles of doing good to the community, the official hero of the Unforgiven

Characteristics Of The Leopard
The Leopard
Long ago, the leopard and the Ethiopian, his white hunting companion, lived in a place called the
High Veldt. The two dominated this vast grassland, and they were able to hunt and catch any
animal they wished. Their favorite meals consisted of the plain sandy yellow brown coated giraffe
and zebra. One sunny day, the giraffe and zebra were hiding from the leopard and Ethiopian within
the shadows of the trees. Mysteriously, jagged shadow shapes appeared on the fur of the giraffe
and the zebra. The prey became permanently striped and spotted and were so well camouflaged
that the leopard and Ethiopian were now incapable of finding lunch. The two hunters knew they
needed to up their game, so the Ethiopian turned his skin black. The leopard asked his companion
to give him spots so he could blend in, too. The Ethiopian pressed his five fingertips all over the
leopard s plain coat; both of them were now camouflaged just like the giraffe and zebra.
This retelling of Rudyard Kipling s How the Leopard Got His Spots is a fanciful fable which
portrays the cunning nature of the leopard. Besides its stealthiness and competitiveness, this
spotted wonder possesses several other traits which display God s originality in creating it. In order
to understand the significance of the leopard, one must understand its physical characteristics and
behavior, unique habitat and hunting strategies, and extreme threats to its existence.

Essay about American Influences of Walt Whitman
American Influences of Walt Whitman
In his poems and life, Walt Whitman celebrated the human spirit and the human body. He sang the
praises of democracy and marveled at the technological advances of his era. His direct poetic style
shocked many of his contemporaries. This style, for which Whitman is famous, is in direct relation
to several major American cultural developments. The development of American dictionaries, the
growth of baseball, the evolution of Native American policy, and the development of photography
all played a part and became essential components of Whitman s poetry.
Walt Whitman was an avid reader of dictionaries, which he realized were the compost heap of all
English language literature. It was the place ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was then that the first recognizable baseball rules were set down in writing. As baseball was
born, it immediately was bound up in Whitman s mind with qualities he would endorse his whole
life: vigor, manliness, and al fresco health.
In 1855, when Whitman s Song of Myself was first printed, baseball was still very new. It was
clearly one of the distinctive elements of the American experience that Whitman found worth
absorbing into the song of himself, even though the term baseball had not yet made its way into the
dictionaries. At various times over the years, Whitman would extol many other sports, but there
was only one sport he would return to throughout his life, and that was baseball. To him, baseball
was an activity with its own built in localized slang, and its own essential connections to American
culture; a game conceived, developed, and originally played only in the United States of America.
Clearly for Whitman, baseball was the sport that coincided with the best aspects of the American
character. In it he saw the emergence of national sport one that had a rhythm and movement
distinctly American. In this game, he saw the possibilities for democratic crowds and brotherhood
that he would celebrate in his poetry (Folsom 30 53).
Three days before Whitman s eleventh birthday, Congress passed the Indian Removal Bill. Andrew
Jackson, the president who was a

The Problem Of Environmental Protection Essay
Theodore Roosevelt had once said, The nation behaves well if it treats the natural resources as
assets which it must turn over to the next generation increased, and not impaired in value . These
words have resonated since and have been an example as to why it is our duty as inhabitants of
this planet to provide protection to the ever so fragile environment. But what is Environmental
protection exactly? Well it is one of the most important, and expensive problems businesses and
society are facing today. Why you may ask? Since the industrial age all the countries around the
world have been burning an assortment of fuel to power factories, vehicles, heat homes, and even
to cook with and when these fuels are burned they emit carbon dioxide and various other
chemicals which over time add up and take a very long time to breakdown. As a result they trap
heat from the sun in the earth s atmosphere raising the global temperature and causing a domino
effect on the environment. Likewise companies produce hazardous waste and dump them illegally
in waters which kills vast amounts of marine life. Although laws are in place to protect the planet,
inventions are slowly being created to provide alternative sources of energy and agencies already
exist to protect the environment. However it is our duty as people in a society to act on our own by
demanding for our government to show greater concern for the environment by reforming
environmental protection laws with stricter guide lines,

V s character type is a complex one to say the least. He is a terrorist, anarchist, philosopher and a

terrorist and still be good, but this factor is what sets V apart from traditional heroes. It is the
fact that the world he lives in is so corrupt and power hungry that he can destroy building and still
be considered a hero. V is the epitome of the phrase one man s terrorist is another man s freedom

meeting V, that there isn t anything wrong with the government she lives under. Only through
understanding and intimidation does she truly realize what it s like to live without fear. Secondary
characters types are equally important. V s driving force throughout the whole movie is his

Should School Uniforms Have Uniforms
Should SJAM Have Uniforms? For many years school have become more about fashion rather than
education. During this time teachers and principals have debated on what solution to come up with.
Should Sir John A. Macdonald (SJAM) have uniforms? Some people believe that uniforms take
away the right of self expression. Others argue that uniformskeep students focused on studies rather
than fashion. Wearing school uniforms should become mandatory because it ensures equality
within the school, reduces expenses, and it creates discipline in the school. Uniforms maintain
equality within the school. Students should not have to worry about peer pressure when it comes to
their clothes. When everyone is dressed the same, concerning about how you look isn t so
important. A study in the U.S Department of Educationshows that, by wearing a school uniform
student s sense of security raised 41% and over Вѕ of teachers agreed that uniforms were the reason
for that happened. Students feel much more secure in school since they cannot be victims of
bullies for being dressed in a certain way. For example, it would be much more difficult for a
bully to make fun of how students are dressed especially if they are dressed exactly the same.
According to the Department of Education in the U.S students sense of belonging also increased,
this is because when students are dressed like their peers it makes them feel more equitable,
valuable and included. Academically this is important for students because if students are feeling
unhappy and excluded they will not be interested in their studies or even coming to school. Some
people might argue that uniforms do not spread equality because it takes away the right of
expressing their individuality. While that may be true individuality is what distinguishes us from
others, but clothing isn t the only way to do that. You can express yourself through what you do
for example sports, music, art, etc. This is beneficial to students because they won t judge others by
their looks but by their personality. As for equality it means equal, which is a key reason to have
uniforms because it allows all students to look and feel equal. In Junior high it is hard enough to

Beveridge Report On The Welfare State
This essay will discuss the key points of the Beveridge report (1942), and evaluate the
significance of the report on the welfare state. In November 1942, William Beveridge presented a
report called, Social Insurance and Allied Services to parliament. This was a summary of principles
to improve upon the existing welfarebenefits system, to benefit working people and the
population. The document proposed a new system to be operated by one governing agency, called
Social Security. This would be put in place by the state after World War 2 had ended. Overall
Beveridge created the most revolutionary document in our history. Beveridge has played a
significant role in evolving the Welfare Stateover the decades. (Robinson, 2003).

Administration The Social Insurance scheme would need to make big changes to the
administration process for this scheme to run smoothly and be successful. Beveridge wanted
every worker to obtain one insurance document weekly, rather than two. He saw this as an
opportunity for the new system to be under one governing agency called The Ministry of Social
Security. The new system also implemented classes to the National Insurance scheme, such as:
Class I for employees: Class II for Employers, traders, self employed and any other independent
workers: Class III Housewives (this has now been amended for all people of working age, who
have had a break in employment, or earn too little for it to be recorded): Class IV Others of
working age or not working (self employed).
The National Insurance scheme is still in force today, some changes have since been made to the
insurance classes, but it still has the same point. The class you pay depends on your employment
status and how much you earn, and whether you have any gaps in your National Insurance record.
A great way to make the National Insurance more functional was changing the original two piece
document just to one. Over 20 million people received these documents, so in essence this saved
time, money and paperwork. Beveridge s overall goal was to set in motion a strong Social
Insurance Scheme that was functional and up to date, benefiting all involved to make the

Aerospace Engineering As An Aerospace Engineer
Henry Ford once said, When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane
takes off against the wind, not with it. Aerospace engineers design those planes that fly through the
wind. People need the planes that they create to travel long distances in a short amount of time.
Many aerospaceengineers work with the government and create designs important for national
defense. Without aerospace engineers, planes and other aircraft would most likely not be as safe,
as efficient, and as fast as they are today. In order to design these vehicles a high level of education
is necessary. Students that enjoy math and science courses and the opportunity to earn good money
will be superb candidates for this career.
A significant amount of education and training is required to become an aerospace engineer. A
student would need to take English one, two, three, and four. He or she will also have to take
history courses ranging from civil history to economics ( Aerospace Engineer ). Additionally, a
person will need chemistry, physics, and math classes ( Aerospace Engineers ). Necessary math
courses include geometry, algebra, trigonometry, and calculus ( Aerospace Engineer ). A bachelor
s degree is also needed to fulfill the job requirements ( Aerospace Engineers ). Students should take
numerous science and math classes so they understand various complex concepts before they start
working on a project ( Encyclopedia of Careers and Vocational Guidance 88).

Reflective Essay On Change
In looking at the numerous experiences that I have encountered where change has been more
than needed and wanted, I feel that my experience working in the Salt Lake Valley Detention
Center for five years and leaving to pursue change is a great example of the use of a change
model. When I began working in detention in 2009, I felt empowered and validated for the work
that I was doing. I also felt that the work that I was doing was making a difference in the lives of
the youth I worked with. I had amazing rapport with the youth and staff alike and quickly moved
up the latter. As I climbed the latter, I worked to ensure that the staff and I maintained the best
interests of the youth. In maintaining a high level of integrity and fairness, we saw dramatic
decreases in recidivism among the youth we served and noticed that the staff enjoyed coming to
work. However, several years later the facility was sub contracted out and many of the
administrative and line positions were cleared out and filled with new personnel. As the new
agency filled the positions with various new staff, the change had a negative effect on the previous
processes. As the changes continued so did the responses/ behavior of the youth. It seemed like the
consideration for the youth and concern for their best interest were pushed aside to fulfill quotas.
With the high level of stress this brought on staff, I as well as many others attempted to Walk on to
find new alternative that would allow us to maintain our efforts, but were unsuccessful. With
numerous failed attempts and meetings with admin that resulted in nothing more that frustration, I
chose to Walk out. In walkingout, I continued working with youth in an area that allows me to be
a bigger part of the process where I can be more effective. Through this experience, I would say
that the seven step process would be very close to the ways in which I addressed the concerns
within the detention center prior to leaving and then after as I sought to empower the youth in my
community. In part of this change process, I have also undertaken higher education to ensure that I
can better meet the needs of those within my community and to strengthen myself so that I can

The Essential Role Of Bureaucracy Necessary In American...
A bureaucracy is not only needed in American democracy, furthermore, it plays an essential role to
keep it running smoothly. Some American citizens disagree that bureaucracies are beneficial for
our democracy because they do not get to vote in the officials or bureaucrats. However, if they
would be elected officials then the nominees running would campaign for fame or to be the next
bureaucrat. This would create disloyalty among the nominees. One of the responsibilities of
governmentbureaucrats is to implement the law given by Congress. If bureaucracydid not exist this
responsibility would be delegated to congress, and the checks and balance system would not be as
influential pertaining to laws. The Federal Bureaucracy provides the American people with the
fifteen executive departments. These departments are incredibly important and they address and
regulate the protection, health, education, transportation, etc, of the citizens of America. American
democracy depends on and benefits greatly on the organized bureaucracies in government.

more fair and everyone to be equal. In the Age of Jackson democracy became more popular,
democracy is what influenced the reform. Without these movements the US would not be the same
today. One of the many movements in the reform is the women s rightsmovement. Women could
not vote, attend schools, or have certain jobs. They were expected to take care of the house, cook,

many ways. They had the idea to create a convention after they were told women could not take
part in the proceedings . Their convention discussed many things such as, social, civil, and religious
rights of women. This was the first gathering aimed toward women. Later Stanton wrote The

Simile: A figure of speech that makes a comparison between two things, using like or as.
Example: An apprehensive night crawled slowly by like a wounded snake, and sleep did not visit

The Most Dangerous Game, page 32
Function:
Context Rainsford is hiding from General Zaroff in the forest of Ship Trap Island. After running
around in the forest and trying to make an untraceable trail, Rainsford finally rests high up in a
tree.He tells himself that Zaroff will never find him, but in the back of his mind he worries about
being found and killed. This makes Rainsford to feel like the night was going by very slowly and
this worry kept Rainsford up for a long time. The stress from the Most Dangerous Game is getting to
Rainsford s head. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The night is described as apprehensive , which means fearful of something bad happening. The
night is further compared to a wounded snake, because like any wounded animal, it would move
very slowly and painfully. The author is describing the night like this, to compare it to how
Rainsford is feeling while he is hiding in the forest. Rainsford is very apprehensive himself,
because he fears Zaroff will find him and kill him. Even so zealous a hunter as General Zaroff
could not trace him there, he told himself; only the devil himself could follow that complicated
trail through the jungle after dark. But, perhaps the general was a devil (pg.32). The night and a
wounded snake are compared by using a simile, because a wounded snake moves slow and the
night is moving slow for Rainsford. Rainsford feels like the night is so long, because he cannot
fall asleep and all he can do is worry about his life. This quote is an example of simile, because it
is comparing the night to a snake, which gives the reader a better understanding of what the author

The Replication Of Y Chromosomes And How They Have Evolved...
When fertilization occurs within mammals, the sex is immediately determined. Each parent will
contribute one or more chromosomes during the fertilization process, depending on the species. In
the male heterogametic (XY) system, the absence of the Y chromosome results in a female
offspring and the presence of the Y chromosomeresults in a male. The evolution of the sex
determination system consists of the rise and development of sex chromosomes and concurrently
the emergence and evolution of genes that guarantee the formation of equivalent traits and
functions. This paper will examine three studies: the replication of Y chromosomes and how they
have evolved overtime (Cortez et al. 2014), the structural variation found in Y chromosomes...

2014).
The purpose of the experiment was to understand how reproductive cells can divide and
reproduce and what is being reproduced in the duplication process. This process will assist
researchers in understanding the role of the Y chromosome and its evolution over time. An
experiment was conducted where RNA sequence data for 166 tissue samples from nine mammals
and two birds were observed (Cortez et al. 2014). Cortez et al. (2014) sequenced genomic DNA
from two individuals and then assembled the Y and W linked transcripts. Next, the Y/W
transcripts were validated by aligning the male and female Illumina genomic readings. In order to
validate this, a large scale subtraction approach was used. Next, Cortez et al. (2014) reconstructed
the Y linked genes using genomic data and then defined the Y gene names and the X
gametologues. Experimenters predicted the multi copy genes and the characterization of x linked
contigs and genes in platypus. A phylogenetic analysis was used to align the coding sequences for
phylogenetic tree reconstructions based on amino acid sequences. All trees were inspected for
evidence of gene conversion but could not find any. Thus, it is not frequent in the evolution of sex
chromosomes (Cortez et al. 2014). Cortez et al. (2014) have concluded that the XY system is not
only unique to males, but similar to the ZW system found in female birds.

Betrayal in The Chrysanthemums Essay
Betrayal in The Chrysanthemums
In John Steinbeck s short story, The Chrysanthemums, there is a strong underlining of betrayal.
We can see betrayal in three forms throughout the story. First we see Elisa being betrayed by the
salesman who plays on her emotions by giving her a sales pitch only to get some work out of
her. Then, in result to confiding in the salesman Elisa betrays her husband by opening herself up,
and confiding to a complete stranger things which she couldn t reveal to her own husband.
Finally, we see Elisa betraying herself by not allowing herself to fully express her true emotions,
and by being too afraid to step out of societies norms for woman during this time.

giving him some work, and giving him some potted chrysanthemums to give to the lady with the
garden he was on his way.
It wasn t until later that night when Elisa was heading to town with her husband, for dinner, that
she realized she had been betrayed by the salesman. As they were driving into town Elisa sees her
prized chrysanthemums thrown out on the side of the road. She feels betrayed knowing that she

An Analysis Of Flannery O Connor s A Good Man
In Flannery O Connor s short story A Good Man is Hard to Find , the fate of the family is
foreshadowed within the very first few paragraphs. The grandmother in the story tries to
convince the family that going to Tennessee would be much more suitable for the family
vacation not only because had the children been to Florida before, but there is a criminal who
has escaped from federal prison and is headed that way (1076). She tries to inform her son, Bailey,
and his wife of the convict who claims himself as The Misfit, but the couple ignores her and the
children suggest that if she is worried, she should just stay home (1076). The second element of
foreshadowing depicted in the short storyis seen when the grandmother hides her cat in a basket
(1076). The grandmother is aware that the son does not know about the cat and it may startle him
or upset him later (1077). Alternatively to the first two uses of foreshadowing, the third use is not
seen until the familys encounter with Red Sammy, when he informs the family about just how
bad The Misfit is (1080). He tells them that he wouldn t be surprised if The Misfit tried to rob him
for two cents (1080). All of these tie together at the end of the story and relate back to the
grandmother. It can be assumed that if the grandmother would have stayed home as John Wesley,
her grandson had advised, that the family s fate would not have ended the way that it did. While
the parents and children hold the responsibility for choosing

Gender Discrimination And The Workplace
Gender Discrimination
There are many things that a potential employee has to worry about when considering taking a
position within a company. Things like the amount of pay they need, the benefits that will be
offered to them, the values and morals of the company and whether or not those values and
morals align with their own, and if they could see themselves growing within this company
throughout the years because no one wants to work a dead end job for the rest of their life.
However, along with all that an employee has to worry about, there are also things that they should
not have to worry about. Things like equality, fair pay, ADA approved reasonable accommodations
should they be required, and being discriminated against, especially based on their gender.
Problem Situation
One of the most difficult things for someone to deal with within a work place is gender
discrimination. If we lived in a perfect world, it would not exist, but unfortunately we live in a world
where all types of discrimination exist. Gender discrimination happens all around the world and it
takes a substantial amount of time to change. Being discriminated against at your job because of
your gender is a difficult situation. It can negatively impact the organization by making the work
environment uncomfortable. When a gender discrimination problem arises within an organization
you will usually also find tension, decreased production, internal conflict, and increased employee

Bibliiography Regarding Economy Topics
Aidoo, Richard
2009 Review of The Trouble with Aid: Why Less Could Mean More for Africa, and: The Trouble
with Africa: Why Foreign Aid Isn t Working. Africa Today 56(2): 97 101
Aidoo expands on Jon Glennie s scope of the discussion regarding aid implementation in Africa.
He takes into account other prevalent work and analyzes the debate as a whole. The issue, on
which people readily take sides, he contends is often too simplistically portrayed, often leading to
poor solutions, typically in the form of more aid. Aidoo s critique of Glennie, who embraces aid
reduction policies, calls Glennie s stance intellectually merited, but fails to move beyond an
academic concept.
Coyne, Christopher

DBBDG shows the problems that those who intervene undergo when venturing into humanitarian
efforts. The bureaucratic incentive structure of aid organizations and unintended consequences that
stem from their actions often end up doing more harm than good. Coyne s analysis uses economic
principle to form his case for using caution when considering humanitarian intervention. Those who
intervene lack understanding of how the many variables associated with intervention will interact
and how the bureaucratic incentive structure lacks the feedback mechanisms necessary for truly
learning from mistakes. Coyne goes on to show how the different incentives of the bureaucracy will
often clash with each other and with the end goal of

The Impact Of 3d Printing On The Digital And Consumer...
1. Introduction
Additive layer manufacturing, also known as Three Dimensional (3D) printing, provides a unique
fabrication process that allows users to produce structurally complex components by the successive
fusion of layers [1]. This technique offers businesses and consumers the ability to quickly develop
custom components on demand and at a lower economical cost [2]. In 2016, a
PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) report indicates that, out of 71% of US manufactures
implementing 3D printing and 42% believe the volume of 3D printer use will increase in the next
three to five years [3].
The impact of 3D printing can already be seen in both industrial and consumer markets [2]. The
2015 Wohlers Associates report stated that 32.5% of all Additive manufactured objects were used
for functional components. Additionally, the report detailed the 3D printing industry accounted for
$5.165 billion of revenue [4]. The aviation, medical, automotive, and manufacturing industries are
currently utilizing 3D printing [4 9]. Airbus, within the aviation industry, recently produced the
world s largest 3D printed cabin component. The component produced is a dividing wall that sits
between the passenger seating and galley. General Electric is currently 3D printing jet engine fuel

In one way, A LBO is like buying a used car. The car buyer wants to know more than what is in

For an LBO buyer, a through inspection is equally critical. This success is decided upon what kind
of debt to take on, budget cuts, business sold to pay down that debt quickly.
For Kravis, checking the car was the problem. To be successful, he needed information but was

Plato And Augustine Of Hippo
Some of the most famous people of the ancient world were philosophers. These certain individuals
became more well known than many war heroes and kings because of the ways in which they
thought about, and perceived the world. Historians along with other people became fascinated with
their ideas. This resulted in their ideas becoming the foundation for the ways in the world thinks
today. Some of these people include Plato, and Augustine of Hippo. These men thought about the
ways of the world unlike any others had before them. They were not satisfied with the
knowledge that world gave them, and so they continued to ask questions and dig deeper until
they were able to find an answer. These two men both lived in times where the people around
them were very confused. This lead to both of them being very influential in their separate times.
Plato s way of thinking came from his teacher, another great Greek philosopher, Socrates. Plato
was born in 427 B.C. and was member of a very wealthy, upper class family in the Greek city
state of Athens. He was given the opportunity to study under Socrates and became his disciple.
Socrates taught Plato much of his knowledge and wisdom, which resulted in him also becoming
a great philosopher. Socrates didn t do any of his own writings, so we can learn about him from
what Plato writes about him. Plato was very similar to Socrates in the way that he thought but
unlike Socrates, Plato was a teacher as well as a philosopher. He created the

Chapter 11 Reflection
This week s assignment delivered ample food for thought spiritually as well as physically. I
embraced this opportunity to perform a much needed self evaluation, only after reading Barton s
chapter 8, Sabbath, I found myself lacking in every aspect of honoring the peak of God s greatest
creation, the Sabbath, the extraordinary mark of His inspired power. I was guilty, just as the
children Israel of not remembering the power of the awe inspiring Creator. Although I was taught
religiously about things not to do on the Sabbath (Legalistic), however I do not remember hearing
about the Sabbath being a discipline of Establishing Rhythms of work and rest (Creative Sabbath),
as Barton expresses, nor how the Sabbath and prayer work hand in hand to unite... Show more

He goes on to say, Our culture invariably supposes that action and accomplishment are better than
rest, that doing something anything is better than doing nothing. Because of our desire to succeed,
to meet these ever growing expectations, we do not rest. Because we do not rest, we lose our way.
... We miss the compass points that would show us where to go; we bypass the nourishment that
would give us succor. We miss the quiet that would give us wisdom. We miss the joy and loveborn
of effortless delight. Poisoned by this hypnotic belief that good things come only through unceasing
determination and tireless effort, we can never truly rest.
Could this be a device of the enemy to side track the minds of God s people with false securities,
deadly hypnosis that overworked, restlessness is good? Muller is correct and on point, we must
permit time to rest physically, emotionally, and most important spiritually. Worshipping in
community gatherings is important because it brings unity within God s people. Foster proclaims,
when the people of God meet together, there often comes a sense of being gathered into one mind,
becoming of one accord (Phil.

White Tailed Deer History
When the white tailed deer show up in my backyard, it s like witnessing a direct link to an age
almost forgotten. I freeze in my tracks, and I can t help but think about their unbroken chain of
ancestors going back into the ancient past. These animals were here long before any settlers
arrived from Europe. They were the hunted long before rifles replaced bows and arrows. They
knew these lands when the waters were still clean and the air was still fresh. They knew these
lands when there were no cars and no railroads. They were here before horses were brought to this
continent from Europe. In their majestic silence, the deer have witnessed footpaths become trails,
trails become roads, and roads become interstates. Their resilience is remarkable.... Show more

Though the land had been Chickasaw territory since time immemorial, they did not create
permanent settlements here. Instead, they used these lands for hunting. The Chickasaw people
were connected closely with the elements and lived close to the land. Because they respected
nature and took no more than they needed, both humans and animals thrived in this region. Each
year when the leaves began to turn yellow, men came here to hunt for the meats and animal skins
their people would need for winter. The rest of the time, these lands belonged to nature. Birds
made nests, foxes napped in dens, and deer rested in tall grasses. When it was not hunting season,
the animals were free to live as they had since the dawn of

Differences Of Religion In The Western And Western Religions
Religion is an important aspect of the lives of many people throughout the world. While there are
many different religions throughout the world that all have different beliefs, people tend to only
accept one religion as the ultimate truth and reject all others. This ideology sometimes can be so
strong as to cause war between countries throughout the world as well as throughout history. There
is also a popular opinion in western countries, including the United States, that western religions are
better than eastern religions, where eastern religions are often viewed as archaic and undeveloped.
This opinion, however, is incorrect and often stems from the major differences between the two
different types of religionthat people are often not aware of. Eastern Religions differ from
Western Religions in that they have different ideology as well as a different set of customs and
values. Eastern Religions often have cosmic origins. In Eastern Religions, there is a large
emphasis on growing yourself so that you can become a more aware spiritual person, and this
required to reach salvation. This is because Eastern Religions view the cause of man s plight is
from the soul s immaturity. In order to accomplish this spiritual evolvement, one must also follow a
strict set of rules throughout their life that involves respecting others and living a virtuous and
moral life. Even the idea of salvation in Eastern Religions is very different from that of Western
Religions, being that salvation

Information Security
As a kind of resources, information has the character of universality, sharing, value added, hand
liability and multiple utilities and these advantages make information has special significance for
human beings. The essence of information security is to protect information systems or information
resources in the information network from various types of threats, interferences and damages.
According to the definition of international organization for standardization, information security is
mainly refers to the integrity, availability, confidentiality and reliability of the information. Every
country, government department or industry all must attach great importance to the problem of
information security as it is a national security strategy which should not be ignored. However, for
different departments and trades, the demand for information security and the key is distinguishing.
The scope of information security itself is very wide, such as the problem of preventing the
disclosure for commercial enterprises, the problem of preventing teenagers from browsing on bad
information and the problem of personal information leaking. The information security system
under the environment of network is the key to guarantee information security, including computer
security operating systems, all kinds of security protocols, security mechanisms and the security
systems. Any bug in above systems will threat the global security. I will discuss the issue of

Economic Inequality In The United States Has Risen And
Economic inequality in the United States has risen and absolute growth has slowed over the past
half century. This growing level of inequality sparks in a wave of support for redistribution. The
U.S. s inability to redistribute to the bottom quartile of the income distribution results a multitude
of factors that explain why people would support or oppose redistribution. An explanation of
economic inequality involves the argument that the wealthy have the needed resources in order to
flourish in achieving political decisions that they favor, through campaign contributions and other
forms of economic influence (Gelman 1213). The proposal for this paper is that there is a factor
that is unaccounted for, in which it is possibly impacting the... Show more content on

Within the U.S., they computed the probability that individuals in different income brackets will
reach levels of income in the future which will make them net losers from redistribution (Alesina,
Glaeser, and Sacerdote 19). They make the claim that the probability of upward mobility is major
predictor of one s support for redistribution.
The second factor explains how social mobility for households is related in what influences the
support for redistribution. The result of this is that families would have to achieve social mobility
and move up higher in the income distribution, rather than the distribution itself moving. In simple
terms, in the future, the growth in income is more likely to derive from income mobility as
opposed to baseline growth. Because of this, the consequence is that the increase in income for
individuals would typically come at the expense of other individuals.
The third factor explains how immigration can affect redistribution. For example, as there is a rise
in inequality, what occurs at the same time is the rise in immigration. This leads to the median
voter s household income deviate drastically from the median household income in the nation. The
major point is that low voter turnout amongst eligible voters is not driving the lack of redistribution
in the United States. Rather, the change has come in the large number of residents in the U.S. who
lack citizenship.

Benjamin Franklin was a Political Hero in Sheila Kemp s...
Sheila Kemp did an outstanding job in her short history of one of America s most treasured
arguably the most looked up to political heroes. Whether the Cockpit had as astounding an effect on
Franklin s political career, and the defining moment that pushed him on the path as an advocate for
independence is up for argument. Did Kemp adequately protect her position: that Benjamin Franklin
became a revolutionary after his incident at the Cockpit? The questions seem to be answerable
morally, as well as historically. In truth, Kemp defended her position with as much armor as she
could smith whilst writing her definingly short biography, but sometimes lost her argument in midst
of a flood of historical information. Thus, in this review the... Show more content on

According to Kemp, Franklin was merely representing the wrong colony at the wrong time. And
said that, although events in Massachusetts put Franklin on the hot seat, there was an underlying
reason for Wedderburn s attacks. Some of which were inherent, for instance, the ideologies
between American Colonists and the British Elite were very much different than how Franklin
imagined the Empire. He believed that all colonists were grateful to be part of the Empire, and
even went as far as to advocate ill fated taxes to be introduced to the Colonies in an attempt to
relieve some british debt. Furthermore, to the british mind, taxes that were being legislated were
perfectly within the Empire s right, and that every time taxes became too overwhelming, British
officials would back down against resistance. Such was the case for the Stamp Act which was
enacted in 1765 and repealed in 1766 after riots broke out in the Colonies.
In the case of Franklin, exasperations also gave way to his eventual disenfranchisement of the
Empire. His own pride was destroyed at the cockpit that day, something Franklin was no stranger
to and definitely was unable to handle in a casual fashion. Thus, Kemp adamantly claims
throughout her work that Franklin saw his opposition to the Empire, as a personal and not entirely
a political issue as he once did. Kemp states, Franklin lived in a place where social status

Two Main Concept In The Sorrows Of Goethe
He studied science also as he was interested in it too. He studied Anatomy, Botany, Optics, Geology
and the Morphology a subject that he liked the most (Ibid). He also studied light carefully and gave
theory of colors that challenges the Newton s theory of colors (Eckermann J.P conversation with
Goethe).
On March 15, 1832 Goethe suffered from sudden respiratory attack that he believed is for few
moments. He dressed himself and set on armchair where he died and was laid together with Schiller
in grand ducal vault (Goethe, J.W.V. Autobiography: Truth and Fiction...)

Goethe claims that he wrote this book in four weeks. It was published in Germany and was soon
translated in many languages (Goethe Autobiography: Truth and Fiction...). The book has two
major themes; an unhappy love, rebel against bourgeois society and religious doctrines. Carlyle
says, The Sorrows of young Wertherdescribed the feelings of modern minds. These are the feelings
which English poetry never offered and perhaps can not (Goethe Autobiography: Truth and
Fiction...). Book can be called semi autobiography of Goethe. Henry Lewes says, Werther is not
Goethe but part of him (1968). Kestner, friend of Goethe, once said to him after the publication of
Werther that he has not described sincerely the relationship of Charlotte with Goethe himself, it has
been exaggerated (Ibid).
The novel describes rebel against social and religious conventions. It refuses compromise on the
social evils too. Suicide of Werther is the representation of rebel against the bourgeois society and
sincerity with the humanistic ideals of Werther; that he knows no compromise on this situation.

Teen Specific Laws Essay
Whether or not there should be teen specific laws is a controversial topic. Some people may
argue that there should be teen specific laws, specifically adults, but those adults don t listen to
reason. Former animator, entrepreneur, TV producer, and film producer, Walt Disney says, Too
many people grow up. They forget. They don t remember what it s like to be 12 years old. They
patronize, they treat children as inferiors. Children and teens are human beings just like everyone
else is; therefore, teens learn to do things as all human beings do. Teens can only learn to make
good decisions by making them, not by following directions. It is obvious that teen specific laws
are not necessary.
Teen specific laws are unnecessary, they cause an abundance of new and unnecessary problems. An
example of unnecessary laws would be curfew laws. Curfew laws don t do anything but create
more complications. According to the article, Youth Curfews Popular with American Cities but
Effectiveness and Legality Are Questioned, by USA editor, Tony Favro, Juvenile arrests increase
significantly in most cities with curfews. Do people really want to fix one itsy bitsy problem
even if it means a bunch more problems will appear? Although these laws were originally created
to benefit the society as a whole, one may never know how a teen would respond to the laws.
Moreover, these unnecessary laws may cause teens to act out. According to Dr. Epstein,
Infantilization, or treating teens as if they

How To Write A Personal Reflection Essay
My body is 75% Dr.Pepper and that s all thanks to the free market Noah Clay Dawson. My
sophomore year of high school was a normal year for the most part for me except for one person
that really struck a chord with me and changed my way of thinking, and my entire view of the
world a single person, a person who could drink two liters of Dr.Pepper everyday a person I m
proud to call my mentor, Noah Clay Dawson. The start of sophomore year and the new beginning
of my Speech Debate season when After listening to some Tame Impala he asked Have you ever
heard of Ron Paul? after I responded with a no he started telling me about economist and politicians
such as Milton Friedman, Murray Rothbard, Friedrich Hayek, Rand Paul, and Gary Johnson.
Naturally at first I was confused, but instead of blowing it off I started asking questions started
listening more and started to read more of what he told me to read and after a while, I started to
apply everything I was learning into Debate Congress, where I did surprisingly well, Noah saw
this and got two other seniors Zack Wall and Morgan Taylor to help me understand the event
better and explain rules and procedures although I was an entire semester behind to gain enough
points for State I came close roughly missing State by five points. Throughout the remaining
semester I started to question a lot more of what was being provided, and asking myself Is this
necessary, a necessary evil, or unnecessary, and what can I do to change that?

Julius Caesar Summary
The Roman Senate house was empty. All but one of numerous candles had been blown out, and
sitting by this candle, was the Dictator of Rome, Julius Caesar. Caesar was sitting in his chair of
solid marble when the doors burst open, and there stood two figures hidden by the darkness of
midnight. One of the figures noticeably raised an arm, and for a moment, the world stood still.
The figure s hand slightly moved when suddenly a snap echoed through the room. Consequently,
fifty eight men sprinted in and stood by Caesar s side. The two figures who stood in the door
began to march forward with a skip in their step. As they neared closer to the candle light, Caesar
undoubtedly began to recognize some features of their faces, but could not pinpoint... Show more

significance behind each character and their connection to the exclusive puritan society. Also, the
article critiques the intentions of Nathaniel Hawthorne in making the characters and their

  • 2. Summary Of The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock In T. S. Eliot s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock , the title alone is ironic because throughout the poem Prufrock struggles with being unable to talk to anyone, yet the poem is supposed to be a love song (Eliot). The epigraph of the poem is quoted directly from Dante s Inferno , the translation says If I thought that my answer were being made to someone who would ever return to earth, this flame would remain without further movement; but since no one has ever returned alive from this depth, if what I hear is true, I answer you without fear of infamy (qtd. in Eliot). This quote correlates to the way Prufrock tells us his fears and feelings due to the reader being unable to tell the people in the poem what Prufrock says. In the first line, Prufrock says Let us go then, you and I (Eliot, ln. 1), the you in the poem is not directly referred to as the reader or the recipient of the love song (Eliot). The first stanza sets in place that this is not a love song like the title says. It begins by comparing the sky to a patient etherized upon a table (Eliot, ln. 3) and offers to take the you in the poem down half deserted streets, .... Restless nights in one night cheap hotels and sawdust restaurants with oyster shells (Eliot, ln. 4 7) which are not places you go for a romantic setting. These thoughts lead him to an overwhelming question, but begs do not ask, What is it? (Eliot, ln. 11 12). In the third stanza, Prufrock switches from the present tense in which he says Let us go (Eliot, ln. 1) to saying there will be time (Eliot, ln. 23) which shows how the question he doesn t want to answer is causing him to prepare a face to meet the faces that you meet (Eliot, ln. 27). Every decision he tries to make leads to a hundred indecisions, and time yet for a hundred visions and revisions before the taking of a toast and tea (Eliot, ln. 31 34). This indecisiveness to a lack in self confidence beginning with Do I dare? ...With a bald spot in the middle of my hair (Eliot, ln. 38 40). He asks Do I dare disturb the universe? ...for decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse (Eliot, ln. 45 49), he is now beginning to feel like he is very insignificant in the universe and that he has ... Aravind Eye Care System founder, Dr. Gouindappa Venkataswamy, warmly known as Dr. V, decided that in the developing country of India the government alone could not encounter the health needs of the population of the country. What are the advantages for a nonprofit to be self sustaining? A nonprofit organization (NPO), can be self sustaining by adhering to some very simple rules. A nonprofit is described as an organization that Operates for the common good and not for generating individual wealth: does not distribute its profits to individuals who control the organization such as its members, officers, directors, or trustees. While a non profit organization can make a profit, the profit it earns must be used toward the core missions of the organization and not towards any personal benefits (Bennett, 2013). • 4. Why Is The Industrial Revolution Harmful The Industrial Revolution was a time period between the 1800s and the 1900s where there was many new inventions and ideas. During the Industrial Revolution factories started to be more popular all over the United States. Also, new types of transportation like the steamships, trains and automobiles brought safer and faster traveling. The Industrial Revolutionwas a time that encouraged change, but that change was not always a good one. The period of rapid industrial growth during the 1800s and into the early 1900s was more harmful because pollution, poor working conditions and labor strikes (Homestead Strike, Haymarket Affair, Pullman Strike). In the Homestead Strike reading it described how the strike started and who started it. It states, In 1892 the contract between the AAISW and the Carnegie Steel Company expired (White). At the same time the price of steel in the early 1890s was falling. Frick, worried about the price cuts, decided to use the expiring contract to cut wages and take power away from the employees. The disputes between the Union and Carnegie s company led up to what came to be known as the Homestead Strike of 1892. Wage cuts to workers were not helpful, and it wasn t fair to workers who were working many hours a day, in horrible working conditions to lose pay. After Frick made labor cuts workers decided to negotiate, but these negotiations went nowhere. So, the workers started to protest demanding higher wages and barricading themselves in the factory. When Frick saw what the workers were doing he hired Pinkertons to come and break up the strike. This ended up with multiple deaths and many injuries. Another huge labor dispute was the Pullman Strike in 1894. The Struggle Between Business and Labor reading described the Pullman Strike. The narrator states, When the Pullman Company refused to negotiate, American Railway Union president Eugene V. Debs called on all U.S. railroad workers to refuse to handle Pullman cars. • 5. Martin Luther And The Reformation Thesis Statement The purpose of my paper will reflect the life of Martin Luther during the Reformation period and the changes brought forth as a result of his teachings and writings. Luther s findings not only transformed his own actions, but change the thought process of millions. The study of Martin Luther is the key that unlocks the background of the Protestant Reformation and it s origins. Introduction Research on Martin Luther was chosen to demonstrate the importance of his works, and decisions that not only fueled his purpose, but changed the church for generations to come. Martin Luther propelled himself into his work and was not afraid of voicing his often strong opinion of the Catholic Church. Luther s Ninety Five Theses provides readers his opinion of the church, calling out failures, and known corruption of leaders within. Foundation Martin Luther was born on November 10th, 1483 in Eisleben, Germany. He was the son of Hans and Margareth Luder. His father worked in a copper mine, and through years of hard work they became fruitful. Through his own personal struggles Hans Luder did not want the same life for beloved Martin. Education and faith played a huge role during Luther s adolescent years as he learned Latin and law and continue to excel in these areas well into his adulthood. This development would continue to shape Luther s beliefs and principles. In the early 1500s, Luther was able to continue his studies near Erfurt. At the young age of eighteen ... • 7. Analysis Of Disgrace By J. M. Coetzee The three literary qualities, namely the test of time, its availability and impact on life as well as the ability to gain understanding of the era in which the book is written, will be identified in the three preselected works in order to determine whether these can be considered as literature. Firstly, the novel Disgrace is evaluated according to the three literary qualities. The novel Disgrace by J.M. Coetzee is written in 1999. This means that the most important quality, the test of time, is not yet valid for Disgrace . The novel is written 16 years ago and does not comply to Dr Johnson s thought that a book has passed the test of time when the book is still read after a hundred years. Even though, the book is written recently, the book has made an impact on the social, cultural and academic factors in South Africa. The book deals with the issues of the post apartheid era in South Africa which started, after the change of the government in 1994. Instead of relying on the ideas of the ancient Greeks as Renaissance philosophers did, the contributors of the Scientific Revolution began to look to the world around them for answers. The scientists and philosophers of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries were surrounded by an amalgam of social, political, and religious factors that would influence the method in which they introduced their theories and findings to the world. These factors often supported and promoted the growth of the Sciences, but only when they adhered to the motives of a higher power. These societies were vital to the survival and expansion of sciences and a great aid to the investigation and elucidation of the truth (Doc. 6). However, the immense cultural and social influence of the institutions of sharing did not include everyone. Women were blocked from nearly any form of scientific experiment or inquiry. These reactions can be seen from just a little bit of reaction all the way up to a complete change of the entire sample tested. Some samples of those tested in this experiment which showed the chemical reaction were the baking soda/ammonia mixture, the Epson salt and baking soda mixture as well as the food coloring mixed with the baking soda and bleach. 2.Which reactions, if any, do you believe showed no evidence of chemical change? The two dominated this vast grassland, and they were able to hunt and catch any animal they wished. Their favorite meals consisted of the plain sandy yellow brown coated giraffe and zebra. One sunny day, the giraffe and zebra were hiding from the leopard and Ethiopian within the shadows of the trees. Mysteriously, jagged shadow shapes appeared on the fur of the giraffe and the zebra. The prey became permanently striped and spotted and were so well camouflaged that the leopard and Ethiopian were now incapable of finding lunch. The two hunters knew they needed to up their game, so the Ethiopian turned his skin black. The leopard asked his companion to give him spots so he could blend in, too. The Ethiopian pressed his five fingertips all over the leopard s plain coat; both of them were now camouflaged just like the giraffe and zebra. In 1855, when Whitman s Song of Myself was first printed, baseball was still very new. It was clearly one of the distinctive elements of the American experience that Whitman found worth absorbing into the song of himself, even though the term baseball had not yet made its way into the dictionaries. At various times over the years, Whitman would extol many other sports, but there was only one sport he would return to throughout his life, and that was baseball. To him, baseball was an activity with its own built in localized slang, and its own essential connections to American culture; a game conceived, developed, and originally played only in the United States of America. Clearly for Whitman, baseball was the sport that coincided with the best aspects of the American character. In it he saw the emergence of national sport one that had a rhythm and movement distinctly American. In this game, he saw the possibilities for democratic crowds and brotherhood that he would celebrate in his poetry (Folsom 30 53). The Problem Of Environmental Protection Essay Theodore Roosevelt had once said, The nation behaves well if it treats the natural resources as assets which it must turn over to the next generation increased, and not impaired in value . These words have resonated since and have been an example as to why it is our duty as inhabitants of this planet to provide protection to the ever so fragile environment. But what is Environmental protection exactly? Well it is one of the most important, and expensive problems businesses and society are facing today. Why you may ask? Since the industrial age all the countries around the world have been burning an assortment of fuel to power factories, vehicles, heat homes, and even to cook with and when these fuels are burned they emit carbon dioxide and various other chemicals which over time add up and take a very long time to breakdown. As a result they trap heat from the sun in the earth s atmosphere raising the global temperature and causing a domino effect on the environment. Likewise companies produce hazardous waste and dump them illegally in waters which kills vast amounts of marine life. Although laws are in place to protect the planet, inventions are slowly being created to provide alternative sources of energy and agencies already exist to protect the environment. However it is our duty as people in a society to act on our own by demanding for our government to show greater concern for the environment by reforming environmental protection laws with stricter guide lines, ... He is a terrorist, anarchist, philosopher and a lover of freedom and chaos. At first people might think how the protagonist of a movie can be a terrorist and still be good, but this factor is what sets V apart from traditional heroes. It is the fact that the world he lives in is so corrupt and power hungry that he can destroy building and still be considered a hero. During this time teachers and principals have debated on what solution to come up with. Should Sir John A. Macdonald (SJAM) have uniforms? Some people believe that uniforms take away the right of self expression. Others argue that uniformskeep students focused on studies rather than fashion. Wearing school uniforms should become mandatory because it ensures equality within the school, reduces expenses, and it creates discipline in the school. Uniforms maintain equality within the school. Students should not have to worry about peer pressure when it comes to their clothes. When everyone is dressed the same, concerning about how you look isn t so important. A study in the U.S Department of Educationshows that, by wearing a school uniform student s sense of security raised 41% and over Вѕ of teachers agreed that uniforms were the reason for that happened. Students feel much more secure in school since they cannot be victims of bullies for being dressed in a certain way. For example, it would be much more difficult for a bully to make fun of how students are dressed especially if they are dressed exactly the same. According to the Department of Education in the U.S students sense of belonging also increased, this is because when students are dressed like their peers it makes them feel more equitable, valuable and included. Academically this is important for students because if students are feeling unhappy and excluded they will not be interested in their studies or even coming to school. Some people might argue that uniforms do not spread equality because it takes away the right of expressing their individuality. While that may be true individuality is what distinguishes us from others, but clothing isn t the only way to do that. You can express yourself through what you do for example sports, music, art, etc. This is beneficial to students because they won t judge others by their looks but by their personality. As for equality it means equal, which is a key reason to have uniforms because it allows all students to look and feel equal. In November 1942, William Beveridge presented a report called, Social Insurance and Allied Services to parliament. This was a summary of principles to improve upon the existing welfarebenefits system, to benefit working people and the population. The document proposed a new system to be operated by one governing agency, called Social Security. This would be put in place by the state after World War 2 had ended. Beveridge wanted every worker to obtain one insurance document weekly, rather than two. He saw this as an opportunity for the new system to be under one governing agency called The Ministry of Social Security. The new system also implemented classes to the National Insurance scheme, such as: Class I for employees: Class II for Employers, traders, self employed and any other independent workers: Class III Housewives (this has now been amended for all people of working age, who have had a break in employment, or earn too little for it to be recorded): Class IV Others of working age or not working (self employed). The National Insurance scheme is still in force today, some changes have since been made to the insurance classes, but it still has the same point. The class you pay depends on your employment status and how much you earn, and whether you have any gaps in your National Insurance record. A great way to make the National Insurance more functional was changing the original two piece document just to one. • 23. Reflective Essay On Change In looking at the numerous experiences that I have encountered where change has been more than needed and wanted, I feel that my experience working in the Salt Lake Valley Detention Center for five years and leaving to pursue change is a great example of the use of a change model. When I began working in detention in 2009, I felt empowered and validated for the work that I was doing. I also felt that the work that I was doing was making a difference in the lives of the youth I worked with. I had amazing rapport with the youth and staff alike and quickly moved up the latter. As I climbed the latter, I worked to ensure that the staff and I maintained the best interests of the youth. In maintaining a high level of integrity and fairness, we saw dramatic decreases in recidivism among the youth we served and noticed that the staff enjoyed coming to work. However, several years later the facility was sub contracted out and many of the administrative and line positions were cleared out and filled with new personnel. As the new agency filled the positions with various new staff, the change had a negative effect on the previous processes. As the changes continued so did the responses/ behavior of the youth. It seemed like the consideration for the youth and concern for their best interest were pushed aside to fulfill quotas. With the high level of stress this brought on staff, I as well as many others attempted to Walk on to find new alternative that would allow us to maintain our efforts, but were unsuccessful. With numerous failed attempts and meetings with admin that resulted in nothing more that frustration, I chose to Walk out. In walkingout, I continued working with youth in an area that allows me to be a bigger part of the process where I can be more effective. Through this experience, I would say that the seven step process would be very close to the ways in which I addressed the concerns within the detention center prior to leaving and then after as I sought to empower the youth in my community. In part of this change process, I have also undertaken higher education to ensure that I can better meet the needs of those within my community and to strengthen myself so that I can work in situation were those I ... Next, the Y/W transcripts were validated by aligning the male and female Illumina genomic readings. In order to validate this, a large scale subtraction approach was used. Next, Cortez et al. Africa Today 56(2): 97 101 Aidoo expands on Jon Glennie s scope of the discussion regarding aid implementation in Africa. He takes into account other prevalent work and analyzes the debate as a whole. The issue, on which people readily take sides, he contends is often too simplistically portrayed, often leading to poor solutions, typically in the form of more aid. Aidoo s critique of Glennie, who embraces aid reduction policies, calls Glennie s stance intellectually merited, but fails to move beyond an academic concept. Coyne, Christopher 2013 Doing Bad by Doing Good: Stanford Economics and Finance DBBDG shows the problems that those who intervene undergo when venturing into humanitarian efforts. The bureaucratic incentive structure of aid organizations and unintended consequences that stem from their actions often end up doing more harm than good. Coyne s analysis uses economic principle to form his case for using caution when considering humanitarian intervention. Those who intervene lack understanding of how the many variables associated with intervention will interact and how the bureaucratic incentive structure lacks the feedback mechanisms necessary for truly learning from mistakes. • 40. Plato And Augustine Of Hippo Some of the most famous people of the ancient world were philosophers. These certain individuals became more well known than many war heroes and kings because of the ways in which they thought about, and perceived the world. Historians along with other people became fascinated with their ideas. This resulted in their ideas becoming the foundation for the ways in the world thinks today. Some of these people include Plato, and Augustine of Hippo. These men thought about the ways of the world unlike any others had before them. They were not satisfied with the knowledge that world gave them, and so they continued to ask questions and dig deeper until they were able to find an answer. These two men both lived in times where the people around them were very confused. This lead to both of them being very influential in their separate times. Plato s way of thinking came from his teacher, another great Greek philosopher, Socrates. Plato was born in 427 B.C. and was member of a very wealthy, upper class family in the Greek city state of Athens. He was given the opportunity to study under Socrates and became his disciple. Socrates taught Plato much of his knowledge and wisdom, which resulted in him also becoming a great philosopher. While there are many different religions throughout the world that all have different beliefs, people tend to only accept one religion as the ultimate truth and reject all others. There is also a popular opinion in western countries, including the United States, that western religions are better than eastern religions, where eastern religions are often viewed as archaic and undeveloped. This growing level of inequality sparks in a wave of support for redistribution. The U.S. s inability to redistribute to the bottom quartile of the income distribution results a multitude of factors that explain why people would support or oppose redistribution. An explanation of economic inequality involves the argument that the wealthy have the needed resources in order to flourish in achieving political decisions that they favor, through campaign contributions and other forms of economic influence (Gelman 1213). Within the U.S., they computed the probability that individuals in different income brackets will reach levels of income in the future which will make them net losers from redistribution (Alesina, Glaeser, and Sacerdote 19). They make the claim that the probability of upward mobility is major predictor of one s support for redistribution. The second factor explains how social mobility for households is related in what influences the support for redistribution. The result of this is that families would have to achieve social mobility and move up higher in the income distribution, rather than the distribution itself moving. In simple terms, in the future, the growth in income is more likely to derive from income mobility as opposed to baseline growth. Because of this, the consequence is that the increase in income for individuals would typically come at the expense of other individuals. The third factor explains how immigration can affect redistribution. For example, as there is a rise in inequality, what occurs at the same time is the rise in immigration. This leads to the median voter s household income deviate drastically from the median household income in the nation. The major point is that low voter turnout amongst eligible voters is not driving the lack of redistribution in the United States. Rather, the change has come in the large number of residents in the U.S. who lack citizenship. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

And said that, although events in Massachusetts put Franklin on the hot seat, there was an underlying reason for Wedderburn s attacks. Some of which were inherent, for instance, the ideologies between American Colonists and the British Elite were very much different than how Franklin imagined the Empire. He believed that all colonists were grateful to be part of the Empire, and even went as far as to advocate ill fated taxes to be introduced to the Colonies in an attempt to relieve some british debt. Furthermore, to the british mind, taxes that were being legislated were perfectly within the Empire s right, and that every time taxes became too overwhelming, British officials would back down against resistance. Such was the case for the Stamp Act which was enacted in 1765 and repealed in 1766 after riots broke out in the Colonies. In the case of Franklin, exasperations also gave way to his eventual disenfranchisement of the Empire. His own pride was destroyed at the cockpit that day, something Franklin was no stranger to and definitely was unable to handle in a casual fashion.
