Play Analysis of The Little Mermaid At the end of September, I watched a play, The Little Mermaid ,
by Linda Daugherty, and it was directed by Tim Matheny. This play was used as a proscenium arch
stage, and it was an educational theatre from Mississippi State University. Overall, the play was well
written and entertaining. It was also short and simple for the audience to understand and enjoy. It was
mainly based on a different version of Hans Christian Andersen s The Little Mermaid due violences
and the tragic ending of Andresen s original version because the kids were the target audience. For
example, they didn t want to show the Sea Witch cut the little mermaid s tongue, but they showed how
Disney did it. Another example was they did a happy ending with the little mermaid getting the prince
instead of the prince marries a princess whom he believed that she saved him from the storm, and the
little mermaid dies. The play had some strengths, but there were also a few flaws.
For directing, the play was mostly focused on in the sea and off the shore since it is about the little
mermaid. From the directing decision, the actors who played mermaids were moving back and forth
while standing which was weird because it was like if they were losing some balance. It was probably
to show that they are in the sea, which the movement was unnecessary. Maybe, the director did it
because it might have helped the kids visualize the setting better to prove that they are in the sea. But,
the director did well on having the border moving up and down during the scene of the Prince s ship.
The border were the waves which made the ship look like it was sailing through the sea. That was an
excellent choice from the director. For the acting, Luke McFatrich played William and Austin Howeth
played Timothy, who were the comedic characters and friends with the Prince. These actors were

Today, when society talks about diversity, often times, Asian Americans are brought into the
conversation and are talked about as highly looked up to individuals, but they haven t always been this
way. On television, many times, Asian Americans are represented as nerdy and socially
incapable/awkward , Asian American males are mostly shown as being weak and stereotypically
awkward, while Asian American females are either shown as exotic or also stereotypically awkward
and nerdy, as stated by Takaki in his book Strangers from a Different Shore on page 479,
Hopeful a college education can help them [the students] overcome racial obstacles, they realize the
need to be serious about their studies. But white college students complain: Asian students are nerds.
This very stereotype betrays nervousness fears that Asian American students are raising class grade
curves.
Though, these representations do only account for the three most popular Asian ethnic groups:
Japanese, Chinese and Korean. The other Asian ethnic groups are mostly invisible to society, some
groups, such as the Vietnamese Americans and the Hmong Americans, are known for their population
size. These groups are also the groups that tend to live in areas that are largely populated with the
same race, therefore, congregating to one area. A lot of times, I ve realized from personal experience,
that when people realize that I am Asian, they tend to compare me with the stereotypes that are

Summary
The film the Big Short, directed by Adam McKay is about the financial/housing crisis of 2008. The
film explains how the history of the housing market, how the crisis began, and introduced all of the
people and companies involved. The most important aspect of the movie was that the crisis was
foreseen, but nothing was done to prevent it. The three main characters are Michael Burry, Jared
Vennett, and Mark Baum. Burry was the first to recognize the faulty practices of the housing market,
and bet against the market. His actions caught the attention of Vennett and Baum, which led them to
investigate the housing market, and bet against it as well.
