The Most Important Aspects Of Film Production In The Film...
Film Production
Movie making is telling a story with the best technology at your disposal. Tom Hanks. Film
production is one of the most important aspects of film, and the industry is one of the fastest growing
and largest grossing industries in the world. There are many different characteristics of film
production. Since the 1800 s, this business has been prevalent. Playing one of the most important roles
in the film industry. Film production has improved tremendously since its birth to its present state.
Film production has many different aspects and they all make up one of the most powerful industries
in the world.
The 1800 s were a time when the art of special effects was revolutionized. At first, they would use
motion toys to trick the eye into seeing things that were not really there. By 1905, there were the first
five cent movie theaters, or nickelodeons, that offered an inexpensive way for the public to watch
movies. These theaters caused the appeal of movies to skyrocket. The 1930 s era of film was
considered the golden age in which sound was first introduced to film. During the 1950 s, the film
industry took a huge turn with the invention of the television bringing home entertainment to ten
million people. After being in a gigantic drought because of the Vietnam War, the 1970 s brought a
resurgence of film to the United States. With the production of Jaws and Star Wars, the industry
exploded with new fans flocking in from all over the world ( History of Hollywood ).
During the 1980 s, the film industry was thought of as simple and quick entertainment. The 80s
brought films such as Batman, The Return of the Jedi, and Terminator ( History of Hollywood ). The
revolutionary special effects used in these films caused a drastic increase in the normal budget for
major films off that era. With the decline of the economy in the 90s box office revenues plummeted.
The invention of CD ROMs created a new way for people to enjoy films from home. Even though
VCRs were still very popular, but DVDs soon surpassed them and became the most popular way of
viewing film by 1997 ( History of Hollywood ).
The main reason film production has improved is because of technology. Technology has shaped

Sociological Analysis
What I learnt from this article was that many sociologists have different opinions and theories about
religion. I did not know that sociologists were studying in depth about religion and how it has changed
at the same time that society also was changing. I did not know about secularization neither about the
different perspectives that sociologists have about it. It is interesting to see that religion is a topic that
not just psychologists are interested to study, but that there are other professionals who are passionate
to study about religion like anthropologists, sociologists among others, each of them seeing religion in
their own ways and also coming up with their own theories that we can all learn from for us to have
our own opinion about

Power Dynamic Between A Years Old And A Bengal Tiger
The Power Dynamic between a Sixteen Year Old and a Bengal Tiger Who has the power? A sixteen
year old or a Bengal tiger? Power is typically concerned with who or what has control over someone
or something else, so the question almost seems silly, because what could a young teenage boy have
over a carnivorous, wild animal? Although it may seem obvious that the wild animal would have
control over the boy, the answer is not as definite in the Life of Pi by Yann Martel. In the novel, the
tiger, Richard Parker, and the teenage boy, Pi Patel share power. In other words, the two characters
share power because of the unusual dynamic of equals between them. As a result of their dynamic, it
brings up the question of how this situation came to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My agency was pure and miraculous. It conferred power upon me (Martel 248). To further support Pi
s claim, Pi even provides evidence for why Richard Parker s reliance on him gave him power: Proof: I
remained alive day after day, week after week. Proof: he did not attack me, even when I was asleep on
the tarpaulin. Proof: I am here to tell you this story (Martel 248). If Pi Patel had not been on that
lifeboat with Richard Parker, the chances of survival of the tiger would have been slim. Richard
Parker would have eventually died of starvation or dehydration if Pi had not been there taking care of
him. Thus, Richard Parker s reliance on Pi gave Pi power over Richard Parker.
The way in which Pi assumed this power over Richard Parker was by establishing himself as an equal
to him. As Pi brought food to the tiger, Pi would use whistles to remind Richard Parker of who
provided him with food and water: ...not forgetting to blow the whistle hard several times, to remind
Richard Parker of who had so graciously provided him with fresh food (Martel 206). This method Pi
had developed proved to be successful on his mission to become equals with Richard Parker when Pi
stared into [Richard Parker s] eyes, wide eyed and defiant, and [they] faced off (Martel 246). Pi knew
that if he looked away and backed down, the tiger would never see him as an equal, because Richard
Parker would see

Ethnicity As A Key Determinant Of Voting Behavior
Hypothesis
While ethnicity is not mono causal to determining voting behaviour, the focus of this study is the
consistency of ethnicity as a key determinant of voting behaviour in Ghana, particularly, in the Volta
and Ashanti Regions. This dissertation posits that ethnicity is a consistent key determinant of voting
behaviour in Ghana, and this is because ethnicity is enshrined within the political arrangements of the
country (Oelbaum, 2007, pp. 242 273). There are two main ethnic blocs which give rise under the
essence of absolute majority electoral system, to a two dominant party system (Ayelazuno, 2011, pp.
22 48). These ethnic blocs are the Voltarians from the Volta Region, and the Ashantis from the Ashanti
Region (Arthur, 2009, pp. 46 51).
In Ghana, there are nearly ninety ethnic groups, and language is the core ethnic marker (Arthur, 2009,
p. 50). The electoral system provides a strong incentive to the two dominant parties, the National
Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to engage in crude ethnic politics to
win, even when they have lost in the majority of the regions (Ayelazuno, 2011, p. 47). As this system
has reified ethnicity, political parties that transcend ethnicity are doomed in a country where the ethnic
groups are quite aware of their differences (Ayelazuno, 2011, pp. 22 36).
Research Aims
In order to arrive at a coherent conclusion, the principal aim is sub divided into three aims: Research
aim one (RA1) defines ethnicity, and

A Behind-the-Scenes Look on How Organizations Are...
I ve spent the last 20 years in an organization that always had a job for me. I never had to interview for
any of my positions when I moved to a new assignment. Before I retired from the Air Force in 2012, I
took a Transition Assistance Program (TAP) class. This class went over in depth about preparing the
resume and how to interview but made no mention on how organizations use social media for
recruiting. As a volunteer for a non profit company, I ve also watched the employees in the HR
department struggle to find the right candidate for their administrative assistant position. For the last
six months or more, they have relied heavily on a rotating roster of temp agency workers while they
continue to interview potential candidates. In the meantime, HR employees are burden with extra
duties until the position is filled. The HR department used job boards to advertise the position, but
some candidates get as far as a second round of interviews but don t pan out. This paper s purpose is
to take a behind the scenes looks on how organizations are advertising job opening in the social media
age and what are the best practices for recruiting talent in the social media age.
What companies are doing now
Social media is a growing facet of the recruitment process, but is not the only source organizations use
to advertise their jobs. According to Sinha and Thaly (2013), social media is part of a multi prong
approach and is combined with several other avenues:

17, 2015 TEACHING THE GIFTED 2 Abstract This paper will address the special needs involved
with teaching the gifted. First it will identify exactly who is considered gifted and the process of
evaluating and creating a plan to meet these children s educational needs. Then it will address the
methods that need to be put in place to teach gifted children in the classroom. Some of these things
include dealing with underachieving gifted students and the area of twice exceptional students. It will
cover the problem with properly accessing children of all ethnic backgrounds and how alternate
methods of testing should be employed. It will deal with cultural acceptance of girls in gifted
programs. It will also consider developing stem programs and enlisting corporate support for such
programs to support the gifted child. Running head: TEACHING THE GIFTED

Betrayal, Justice and Passivity in Roald Dahl s Lamb to...
Roald Dahl, a British novelist, offered his readers a classical short story, Lamb to the Slaughter, with
the tale of betrayal, justice, injustice and passivity. Two main characters of the story are detective Mr.
Patrick and Ms. Patrick who live in small town. Roald Dahl tries to reflect human nature of perversity,
and cruelty through the Lamb to the Slaughter . As the story progresses, theme of love, passion,
betrayal and injustice grow stronger. Author smartly shows us how an idle wife becomes a smart
criminal to take the revenge of her betrayal and successes to trick officers. As the first paragraph is
introduced, Roald Dahl develops an image of Mrs. Patrick Maloney as an idle housewife. Description
of the living room reflects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, Author greatly described 1960s housewife as loving, passionate and energetic for her husband.
Author also surprises readers, when he introduces conflict between a couple that used to love each
other deeply. Diverting the story from love to betrayal, author develops an irony. In the story, reader
sees two examples of betrayal. Ms. Maloney, while talking with her tired husband, finds out her
husband no longer want to keep their marriage. Without giving any kind of reason, Patrick betrays her
wife with a decision of breaking marriage. Mary shocks, when her husband, boldly, says, This is going
to be bit shock of you (P. Maloney) Author creates a total opposite picture of Patrick by describing
him as a husband who used to give her wife surprises; he is now giving her shock in the middle of her
pregnancy. Mary, who was previously shown as anxiety less (Dahl), with a slow smiling air (Dahl)
and curiously tranquil (Dahl), had began to get upset and now inculcate her eye with a bewildered
look. After betrayed by her husband, she, without any argue, she goes to the basement to look for
frozen food. She decides to have leg of a lamb as a last dinner with her husband, but she smashes the
frozen leg in to Patrick s head with killing him. Mary betrays her husband by killing him and takes
revenge of her betrayal. Later, Author confirms her as a murdered with the statement of I ve killed him
(Mary) from her own lips. Dahl, in the story,

Children who used the internet for more than one year got very high GPA s than the children who used

solving mathematics.
Greater use of Internet at home will be associated with better academic performance in the months

purpose depends upon the culture of the people as most of the African American culture includes the
oral culture (Hale, 1982). As it is one the reason why it needs to be proved that mostly they prefer one
to one communication than the people from other cultures. However Children s socio demographic

has proved that age influences the benefits of internet use in improving the academic performance
(Jackson et al., 2004)
Internet can be considered as a global communication tool because of its popularity in adolescents and
as a source of health information. It can also be used by the school dropout to seek information related
to sexual aspects where they cannot find information in their surrounding environment. Thus it can
also be considered as a cultural tool kit as it can be shared as the information can be saved and
transmitted to the next generations for greater access and technological innovations (Jackson et al.,
2004).
So finally internet is a tool kit with n number of applications which has its own use.

Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
In Half of a Yellow Sun, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie attempts to use history in order to gain leverage
on the present, to subvert the single story stereotypes that dominate many contemporary discourses on
Africa. Written in the genre of historical fiction, Adichie s novel transcends beyond mere historical
narration and recreates the polyphonic experiences of varying groups of people in Nigeria before and
after the Civil War. She employs temporal distortion in her narrative, distorting time in order to
illustrate the intertwining effects of the past and present, immersing deep into the impact of western
domination that not only catalyzed the war, but continues to affect contemporary Africa. In this paper,
I will analyze her portrayal of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He develops keen interest in learning the English language and a hobby in reading. Not only does he
learn about history, he also learns about current events and politics through Odenigbo and his
colleagues, and begins forming his own opinions about the war (Adichie 17). His insatiable desire to
learn and read leads him to subconsciously memorize, re read and recite texts from Narrative of the
Life of Fedrick Douglas, An American Slave, even while serving the army at war, something which he
previously regarded as crazy (Adichie 452). Adichie s choice of novel allows her to effectively
illuminate the impact of Western culture in Nigeria, and to draw a parallel between Ugwu and Douglas
who were both exploited as slaves during the colonial era. Ugwu becomes so immersed in western
culture that he finds difficulty in adapting to his former traditional lifestyle when he visits home. He
finds the food unpalatable and is disgusted by his sister s lack of hygiene (Adichie 119, 120).
Yet, despite being in direct contact with western ideas, Ugwu is still unable to completely free himself
of his Nigerian roots. For example, he still believes in the power of the dibia. While Odenigbo and
Olanna shrug the dibia off as ludicrous old fashioned thinking, Ugwu is completely convinced that the
dibia had something to do with Odenigbo s mother s ability to convince Odenigbo to cheat on Olanna
(Adichie 241). Adichie emphasizes the cultural fusion by refraining from dismissing

decorative paints, performance coatings, and specialty chemicals producers. Located in Amsterdam,
the Netherlands, AkzoNobel has operations in over eighty countries and has over fifty thousand

In the letter from management in the 2012 annual report, the CEO discussed how the current
economic climate and continued decline in consumer confidence in the housing markets worldwide
have made conditions unfavorable. Because of these unfavorable markets, the company has recently
divested in some of their activities, including their North American Decorative Paints to focus more
on European markets. Because of lower expected market growth rates, the company made the decision
to make a non cash impairment charge against the Decorative Paints business assets in 2012.
Currently the Netherlands are a part of the European Union, as mentioned earlier, and use IFRS. The

Queer Community
Education About the Queer Community A hate crime (defined by Dictionary.com) is a crime, usually
violent, motivated by prejudice or intolerance toward an individual s national origin, ethnicity, color,
religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability. The Matthew Shepard and James
Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act prevents crimes against all people, specifically minorities, based
on prejudice (United States Department of Justice). No laws or acts can change the ignorance and
bigotry that have become so prevalent in society; however, education and understanding can change
the viewpoints many have developed of the LGBTQA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer,
Asexual) community.
Sexual Orientation, defined by The Human Rights Campaign is, An inherent or immutable enduring
emotional, romantic or sexual attraction to other people. A lesbian is a woman who feels romantic
and/or sexual attraction toward other women. A gay man feels romantic and/or sexual attraction
toward other men. Being bisexual means to (male, female, etc.) feel romantic and/or sexual attraction
toward people of the same or different genders. A transgender person feels in their mind and in their

Globalization of Korean Popular Culture in Asia
Globalization of Korean Popular Culture in Asia
1. Introduction
Since 1990s, Korean Popular Culture has had a strong influence in Asian countries, including China,
Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and Singapore. This new popular cultural phenomenon in Asia is called
the Korean Wave , also known as hallyu in Korean pronunciation, which refers to the surge of
popularity of Korean popular culture abroad, particularly in Asia(Kin 284). The Korean Wave is first
coined in mid 1999 by journalists in Beijing who are surprised by the fast growing popularity of
Korean entertainment and popular Culture in China(Fiaola 1).

This, originally, supposed to be the last work of Samsung Entertainment Group and the group will
break up afterwards. Shiri, surprisingly, got a big hit from Korea and other Asian countries. Although
it costs only about 2% of average budget of Hollywood films, it was popular throughout the world. As
Diffrient mentioned, Shiri led to a pan Asian phenomenon after its releases in Japan, Hong Kong and
Taiwan(42). Later on, films such as Joint Security Area and My Sassy Girl also gave a big hit to Asia,
which further spread Korean popular culture to other Asian countries. As a Hollywood reporter said,
Korea has transformed itself from an embattled cinematic backwater into the hottest film market in
Asia (Segers 14).
Korean TV dramas also floods the daily programming of free to air TV stations and even become part

Korean television drama and its stars such as Bae Yong Jun and Lee Young Ae, have attracted Asian

Indie Music Research Paper
Alternative music is a subgenre of rock music, which emerged from indie music in the 1980 s, and has
since gained a lot of popularity. The word alternative in the dictionary translates to unconventional,
uncommon, and non standard, which is so cool because all the music is under the same genre
umbrella, but none of the bands sound the same at all, and I like to think of it as the melting pot of
music. Since each band has a different style it is likely you ll be able to find something you enjoy. It
originated from bands who didn t have a major record label, and they instead signed to smaller labels
as that was much easier to do. The songs are so diverse which is nice because a lot of popular artists

problem for small indie bands is how hard it is for them to find their footing without local support, and
local record stores to share their music (Kruse). Record stores are great places for you to find

The Theory Of Knowledge And Power
INTRODUCTION Post Foucauldian theory of knowledge and power, knowledge has been used as a
synonym for power. In 21st century they are considered as two sides of the same coin. Power gives an
individual the ability to make others obey in a social relationship irrespective of the basis. As per
Foucault power is not only brutal physical force rather an invisible form of network that operates. At
times, the operator has no knowledge of this invisible power which controls others. Similarly,
knowledge is defined as a belief of an individual or society which is right and justified with a logical
explanation. Thus, the assumption that is not true can t be quantified as a knowledge. Belief that is
true doesn t qualify as knowledge. It must be explained in order to be called as knowledge. How the
belief is justified has been debated over 2000 years by different scholars, radical writers and
philosophers and yet to receive a consensus. The relationship between knowledge and power was
established by Michael Foucault in a more explorative way as compared to his previous counterparts.
According to him knowledge and power both shares a healthy relationship in a continuous manner. As
per Foucault s theory power develops through feed of knowledge and in turn power generates
knowledge. This method based upon assumption knowledge changes with time. For example new
discourse leads to new knowledge (Ball, 2013). Thus, a society that has gained power through
knowledge has the power to direct

Descriptive Essay On The Osprey
The Osprey
As I walked on a sandy path, I took a moment to admire the scenery. The mountains and their snow
capped tips looked so mighty and big, that I felt small and inconspicuous. The pine trees swayed back
and forth, and pronghorn pranced on the brilliant green grass. Everything seemed so beautiful. Bison
wallowed across the cold rocks as the geysers spouted hot water. It was an animal s paradise.I tried to
imagine the whole world being this peaceful and spectacular. The misty morning air tickled my face as
I started to strut down the path again.
I was in Yellowstone National Park and that morning my family had woken up very early. I kept my
eyes wide open just in case I could spot some wildlife out of the corner of my eye. Everything was
gorgeous, but now that our trip was coming to an end, I had seen almost everything, and quite frankly,
I was getting a little bored.
When I had arrived though everything was new and mysterious. It felt like a different world. There
were animals I had never seen before and things that would never have happened in California. I had
to see everything.
When I did though, I started to tap my feet and twiddle my thumbs. The same old misty air, big
mountains and bisons, was just not interesting more. Except I had not seen an osprey yet. It was like a
lightbulb went off in my head, a spark of imagination. Thinking about the past gave me ideas for the
future. If I just had the chance to see the bird, it would make our trip that much

Social Actors And Organizations As One Working Unit
Blumer lastly notes that although many methodologies observe large social actors and organizations as
one working unit, this does not allow the understanding of how the organization functions.
Researchers should look at the individuals within the organization to see how those individuals fit
together and how they interact. The interactions of the people within the organization paint a picture
of how the organization functions and makes its decisions. Blumer sums up his essay perfectly by
saying respect the empirical world and organize a methodological stance to reflect that respect
(Blumer 1986, p. 60). Criticisms of Symbolic Interactionism As with any theory there are critics of
symbolic interactionism. One weakness of symbolic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His reasoning behind why he believes this is a bit confusing and does not fully explain why this data is
unreliable. He does explain that data created from a recreated world is not useable which is
understandable because it is not being taken from the real world, but he does not fully explain why
quantitative data taken from the real world is inherently wrong. He dismisses any validity it may hold.
This is also confusing for the reader because he is very vocal about testability. He sees testability as
important but throws out research types with clear testability. Many believe that Blumer s symbolic
interactionism lacks hard evidence and testability. A person interprets a symbol and acts how they
choose to act. This lacks the ability to be tested incorrect. Because this theory allows for the actor to
respond in any way they want, then the theory can never be proven wrong meaning there is no
testability (Melzer, Petros, and Reynolds 1975). Skidmore (1975) points out that Blumer s theory does
not account for why an actor will make the same choice in a given situation. This paper allows for the
assumption that every time an actor faces a situation they consciously interpret it and then make a
choice on how to respond. This does not account for the unconscious acts and feelings that go into an
action. Some actions are made without a full understanding of why

The Los Angeles County Museum Of Art
For my enrichment report, I decided to take a trip to the Los Angeles County Museum. However, I
was trapped with the challenging choice of choosing only one museum for my cultural visit. Since,
there are so many prodigious and amazing museums to choose from to visit in the county. But, I have
heard many great feedbacks about the Los Angeles County Museum of Art from fellow classes mates,
friends and family. So, I finally, had my destination set to and planned a visit to the Los Angeles
County Museum of Art. Upon my visit my attention was already fixated on the unique building layout
and the many arts exhibited located all around the outside of the museum building. There were several
building that housed the many different art exhibits. Such as the first building I walked into, after
purchasing a ticket. This building was called the Ahmanson building, which housed voluminous and
diverse art of the European, Islamic, South and Southeast Asian Art, Art of the Ancient World, Art of
the Pacific and Others. There were also many special exhibitions that was hosted at the time of my
visit, such as the modern art gallery and Rifkin Gallery for German Expressionism. One of the
sculpture centered in the middle of the building of the Ahmanson building called Smoke really caught
my attention. As it quite an enigmatic and stunning metal sculpture that mesmerizes illusions based on
your interpretation and perspective of the piece. Granted, there were defiantly a lot of sensational

Movie Review Research Paper
A movie reviewer for a newspaper has the intriguing job of previewing movies, and even the honor of
determining the success of the movie. Today we will discuss more of what this job entails, and even
how you could get this job for yourself. First let us start off with the job description. Movie reviewers
have the job of watching movies before they even come out. Not only can they do this for free, but
they get paid for this. All they need is a love for movies, a natural gift for writing, and a degree in
journalism certainly helps, though not required. Popular movie reviewers get to interview top stars,
producers, and moved directors. Imagine having the chance to interview your favorite movie star or
director. Now you can imagine the appeal of a job as a movie. Movie reviewers have both an
analytical and creative mind. The analytical part to judge parts of the movie such as tone, theme, and
plot focus. While the creative part determines how good the movie is with a personal bias. These
reviews help determine the success of a movie. There is the occasional exception, if the reviews on a
movie are bad, usually the movie does bad in the box office. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While a major in journalism helps, it is not required. However, the chances of getting a job in this field
at first is slim. An easier way to get started in this field is to just go see new movies, write a review for
them, and post the review online. While you will not get paid at first this is a good way to get enough
experience to be considered for a position at a newspaper. Once you get popular enough companies
might start to invite you to previewing to get your feedback. Just remember add something unique to
your reviews, since the are a lot of people who do this on the internet. You have to stand out of you
want this to

Dark Matter Character Analysis
Dark Matter Character Analysis To start off, the book I read was Dark Matter, by Blake Crouch. To
give you some understanding of the plot, and how there is many more than just one Jason Dessen in
this book, you re going to need some background. This story follows a seemingly normal guy in the
beginning married, one child, stable job. However, at one point in his life, Jason was on the verge of a
scientific breakthrough. He was studying quantum physics, which is basically fancy talk for
discovering a way into the multiverse. The multiverse is a long running theory that every time
someone makes a decision, another world splits off from that point on; essentially creating infinite
worlds. Jason could never continue with his research because his girlfriend, and future wife, was
pregnant, so at that point he decided on a family instead. To make a long story short, a Jason from a
different world (Jason2), who had decided on a career instead of a family, already invented a box that
can take you through the multiverse. He abducted Jason1, and they swapped lives, in an effort to
obtain what the other never had. One got the chance at a family and one got to experience the ... Show

in the book, you knew everything about them their daily habits, pet peeves, regrets, basically
everything that they knew about themselves you were made aware of. Whereas with other characters,
you didn t know much their name, career, and if you re lucky, a little back story. This made the book
much more pleasurable, because when the mysterious sides of characters came out, it was more
shocking and kept you more engaged. All in all, the characters in this story made the plot one to
remember and much more gratifying than if they were portrayed in a different

Economy of India The economy of India has seen an explosive amount of growth during the past few
years. India s economy is the fourth largest in the world in terms of purchasing power parity (PPP)
followed by a Gross Domestic Product of $3.3 trillion. India also has 8.1% Gross Domestic Product

India was the second fastest growing major economy in the world, with a GDP growth rate of 8.1% at
the end of the first quarter of 2005–06. However, India s huge population results in a relatively low

Religion In American Crisis By Thomas Paine
Religion is a necessity to life, as backed up by Thomas Paine s American Crisis. Paine has had quite
the history revolving around the American government, as he wrote Common Sense, a best seller that
offered a rhetorical view about why the colonies should split from Britain. However, he then decided
to write American Crisis in order to offer his unique but logical view on religion and how everyone
should go about deciding what they worship. His idea was that religion is necessary in order to live
and keep one s morals straight, however widespread religion are corrupting and brainwashing
everybody, so everyone should have their own religion in the church of their mind. Paine states
throughout American Crisis that he believes that religion

Illegal Immigration And Illegal Immigrants
Abstract
Throughout the years there has been and increasing number of illegal immigrants in this country. Just
recently Obama took executive action to shield illegal immigrants from deportation. A Texas Judge
though blocked his executive action on immigration. Illegal immigration is a huge controversy here in
the United States partly due to Americans thinking that illegal immigrates are taking jobs, causing
lower wages, and the costs of education. In Immigration and the American Worker, George Borjas
found that the presence of immigrant workers, whether they are legal or illegal, made the U.S
economy about 11 percent larger each year. If overall the U.S economy is better off with illegal
immigrant workers, then why is there a push for harsher immigration policies? The controversy is due
to the fact that the impact of illegal immigration changes from state to state. I hypothesize that the
problem is the distribution of illegal immigrants across the United States. I believe that the benefits
outweigh the costs and that because of the distribution of illegal immigrants, the costs are only felt by
a few. By granting amnesty to the undocumented workers we could increase the level of tax payers
and better the lives of those who feel the costs of illegal immigrants the most. I will test this
hypothesis out by looking at the impact illegal immigrant on the labor market, the cost of illegal
immigration, cost of ant immigrant policies, impact of legalization, and impact of amnesty.

Literature Review On Speech Recognition System
II. LITERATURE SURVEY
Review of literature on speech recognition systems authentically demands consideration towards the
finding of Alexander Graham Bell regarding the method of converting sound waves into electrical
impulses and the first speech recognition system developed by Davis et al. [6] for finding telephone
superiority digits spoken at normal speech rate. This attempt for automatic speech recognition was
mainly centered on the edifice of an electronic circuit for discovering ten digits of telephone
superiority. Spoken words were examined to obtain a 2 D plot of formant 1 vs. formant 2. A circuit is
developed for finding the greatest correlation coefficient among a set of novel incoming data for
pattern matching. These features are grouped into feature vectors that serve the purpose of reducing
dimensionality and redundancy in the input to the speaker recognition system. An indication circuit
was created to exhibit the already discovered spoken digit. The proposed approach lays stress on
recognizing speech sounds and providing appropriate labels to these sounds. Various approaches and
types of speech recognition systems came into existence in last five decades gradually. This evolution
has led to a remarkable impact on the development of speech recognition systems for various
languages worldwide. The exact nature of the feature set depends on what part of a speech signal the
features are expected to represent and thus what type of information is to be extracted. In

If I m going to be honest here, most sports come natural to me, but that was definitely not the case

to myself, I can t wait to be able to do that. . So when it was finally time for me to do that, I learned
very quickly that it was not as easy as it looked. When I first started running the 300 hurdles, I thought
running it in 50 was impossible, but after rigorous amounts of practice I can now do it with ease. But I
did not get to that without learning the proper technique, getting in the best shape of my life, and
keeping an extremely positive outlook on it all.

Chapter 11 Analysis
After reading chapter 11 of our textbook, there were three important topics that stood out to me. The
first topic that I thought was interesting was the purposes of assessments. According to Carjuzaa and
Kellough, the purposes of assessments are for assisting student learning, identify students strengths
and weaknesses, assess the effectiveness of a particular instruction strategy, assess and improve the
effectiveness of curriculum programs, assess and improve teaching effectiveness, to provide data in
order to communicate with parents and guardians and to involve them in their children s learning, and
to provide data that assist in decision making about a student s future (Carjuzaa Kellough, 2017, pg.
337 338). Assessing to identify strengths ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The three stage process of assessing a student s achievement is diagnostic assessments, formative
assessment, and summative assessment. Diagnostic assessment is the assessment of the student s
knowledge and skills before the new instruction. Formative assessment is the assessment of learning
during the instruction and summative assessment is the assessment of learning after the instruction,
ultimately represented by the student s final term, semester, or year s achievement grade (Carjuzaa
Kellough, 2017, pg. 340). For example, in a physical education class, there can be a unit on golf and
the diagnostic assessment for this unit can be to have students try to hit the golf ball without any
instruction. This will give the PE teacher a great understanding of his or her students skill level.
Following that, the teacher will give lessons on different types of swings and throughout these lessons,
the teacher can provide formative assessments to check for understanding. At the very end of the unit,
the teacher can give a summative assessment to test everything the teacher covered throughout the

Comparison Of Gender Regime In China And India
In my essay I will be focusing on comparing gender regime in China and India. I will first give an
overview of how gender regime is defined. I will discuss ways in which how the role of women in
Confucianism differs from that of Hindu women.I will have a section on China and another section on
India, in regards to gender changes, I will mention changes on what a marriage law was like and the
role women play I will also look into their practices. Later I will discuss gender regime which has
occurred in China pre Mao and post Mao and in India pre independence and today. After I will
collaborate Gender Regime together in both countries. My paper will be focusing on some important
matters, how to identify Gender regime? how it arose? And, how it is being implemented? Lastly, I
will conclude my essay. Within the last two decades, Women s lives and gender discourse has been
impacted politically, economically, legally, and technologically. Women have been influenced by age,
class, and ethnicity. Gender regimes vary in different societies and cultures. Both India and China
have had many changes within gender. Gender Regime is how things are between Men and Women in
school, work, and family. Gender Regime is a way in which people relate to one another. It looks upon
how often women are recognized. Thereby, a regime may constitute a high level of acceptance by
states. Gender issues have been analyzed as a global concern (Kardam 2002, P.411). Some ways in

The Invisible Man Essay
The Invisible Man, by H.G. Wells, is composed of many small themes that combined to form two
major themes in the novel. Some of the minor themes are acting before thinking and denial of
unexplainable events. It is based on the two major themes of science experiments gone wrong and the
ignorance of society.
The most important theme in the novel was the experiment that Griffin, the invisible man, was
working and it was not going exactly as planned. The way that the experiment went bad was not by
accident; instead it was Griffin who had made the mistake of turning himself invisible. The reason that
the invisible man had for becoming invisible was that he was suspected as to be a vivesectionalist and
he did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people could see his footprints and see him if he became dirty. Another thing that Griffin did not
realize before his experiment back fired was that he could not eat if he wanted to stay invisible. The
people around him could see the food inside his stomach, until his body absorbed it.
The experiment that Griffin went through was his own fault and also sealed his own fate. The major
problem with his invisibility was that Griffin was not able to keep or have any friends. His only
contact was after he was all bandaged up and looked as though he had been in a bad accident. Without
any human contact or support Griffin was destined to become crazy. In the ending chapters of the
novel it is obvious that Griffin has lost his mind and is completely insane.
Not wanton killing, but a judicious slaying. The point is, they know there is an Invisible Man as well
as we know there is an Invisible Man. And that Invisible Man, Kemp, must now establish a Reign of
Terror. (Pg. 114)
The previous quote was taken as the invisible man was talking to Kemp about his plans of judicial
killing. This proves that Griffin has gone completely insane and it is his way of getting back at society
for excluding him. He does not realize that if he had never made himself invisible nothing like this
would be happening.

Learning Styles Essay
Adjusting learning and studying strategies can be a fast easy way to improve a college grade from a B
to an A. Through studies of learning styles I have been able to decipher my learning types. I am a
visual learner, have an integrated brain, meaning I use both hemispheres, and ranked highest in bodily
kinesthetic and logic mathematical intelligence.
There are three types of learning styles. They are: auditory, visual and kinesthetic. An auditory learner
processes information by hearing and discussing the information. Visual learners process information

Writing what I highlight down in my handwriting will give me an additional time of going over the
important information. Also, it will sink in more because it is generally easier to visually remember
ones own written text rather than printed text. By implementing this new, more in depth study strategy
I should show great improvement in my test and quiz scores, as well as in all other aspects of my
classes. The second strategy I will try will be to add in some techniques from my second strongest
category, kinesthetic. In this strategy I will be using all of the techniques from my first strategy, while
adding manipulatives, walking and standing, and creating games. I will add manipulatives such as
making flashcards. This will enable me to keep my hands busy while I learn. While studying the
highlighted text and the rewritten text I will attempt to be standing or walking to dismiss the
distraction of being uncomfortable from sitting for too long. Games will be created to make the
studying more interesting. It will allow me to capture more of the information due to the use of a
different studying technique. By experimenting with these different techniques I will be able to
maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of my studying, which will in turn show in higher grades.

Film production is one of the most important aspects of film, and the industry is one of the fastest growing and largest grossing industries in the world. There are many different characteristics of film production. Since the 1800 s, this business has been prevalent. Playing one of the most important roles in the film industry. Film production has improved tremendously since its birth to its present state. Film production has many different aspects and they all make up one of the most powerful industries in the world. The 1800 s were a time when the art of special effects was revolutionized. At first, they would use motion toys to trick the eye into seeing things that were not really there. By 1905, there were the first five cent movie theaters, or nickelodeons, that offered an inexpensive way for the public to watch movies. These theaters caused the appeal of movies to skyrocket. The 1930 s era of film was considered the golden age in which sound was first introduced to film. During the 1950 s, the film industry took a huge turn with the invention of the television bringing home entertainment to ten million people. After being in a gigantic drought because of the Vietnam War, the 1970 s brought a resurgence of film to the United States. With the production of Jaws and Star Wars, the industry exploded with new fans flocking in from all over the world ( History of Hollywood ). During the 1980 s, the film industry was thought of as simple and quick entertainment. The 80s brought films such as Batman, The Return of the Jedi, and Terminator ( History of Hollywood ). The revolutionary special effects used in these films caused a drastic increase in the normal budget for major films off that era. With the decline of the economy in the 90s box office revenues plummeted. The invention of CD ROMs created a new way for people to enjoy films from home. Even though VCRs were still very popular, but DVDs soon surpassed them and became the most popular way of viewing film by 1997 ( History of Hollywood ). • 3. Sociological Analysis What I learnt from this article was that many sociologists have different opinions and theories about religion. I did not know that sociologists were studying in depth about religion and how it has changed at the same time that society also was changing. I did not know about secularization neither about the different perspectives that sociologists have about it. It is interesting to see that religion is a topic that not just psychologists are interested to study, but that there are other professionals who are passionate to study about religion like anthropologists, sociologists among others, each of them seeing religion in their own ways and also coming up with their own theories that we can all learn from for us to have our own opinion about ... • 4. Power Dynamic Between A Years Old And A Bengal Tiger The Power Dynamic between a Sixteen Year Old and a Bengal Tiger Who has the power? A sixteen year old or a Bengal tiger? Power is typically concerned with who or what has control over someone or something else, so the question almost seems silly, because what could a young teenage boy have over a carnivorous, wild animal? Although it may seem obvious that the wild animal would have control over the boy, the answer is not as definite in the Life of Pi by Yann Martel. In the novel, the tiger, Richard Parker, and the teenage boy, Pi Patel share power. In other words, the two characters share power because of the unusual dynamic of equals between them. As a result of their dynamic, it brings up the question of how this situation came to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My agency was pure and miraculous. It conferred power upon me (Martel 248). To further support Pi s claim, Pi even provides evidence for why Richard Parker s reliance on him gave him power: Proof: I remained alive day after day, week after week. Proof: he did not attack me, even when I was asleep on the tarpaulin. Proof: I am here to tell you this story (Martel 248). If Pi Patel had not been on that lifeboat with Richard Parker, the chances of survival of the tiger would have been slim. Richard Parker would have eventually died of starvation or dehydration if Pi had not been there taking care of him. Thus, Richard Parker s reliance on Pi gave Pi power over Richard Parker. The way in which Pi assumed this power over Richard Parker was by establishing himself as an equal to him. As Pi brought food to the tiger, Pi would use whistles to remind Richard Parker of who provided him with food and water: ...not forgetting to blow the whistle hard several times, to remind Richard Parker of who had so graciously provided him with fresh food (Martel 206). This method Pi had developed proved to be successful on his mission to become equals with Richard Parker when Pi stared into [Richard Parker s] eyes, wide eyed and defiant, and [they] faced off (Martel 246). Pi knew that if he looked away and backed down, the tiger would never see him as an equal, because Richard Parker would see ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Ethnicity As A Key Determinant Of Voting Behavior Hypothesis While ethnicity is not mono causal to determining voting behaviour, the focus of this study is the consistency of ethnicity as a key determinant of voting behaviour in Ghana, particularly, in the Volta and Ashanti Regions. This dissertation posits that ethnicity is a consistent key determinant of voting behaviour in Ghana, and this is because ethnicity is enshrined within the political arrangements of the country (Oelbaum, 2007, pp. 242 273). There are two main ethnic blocs which give rise under the essence of absolute majority electoral system, to a two dominant party system (Ayelazuno, 2011, pp. 22 48). These ethnic blocs are the Voltarians from the Volta Region, and the Ashantis from the Ashanti Region (Arthur, 2009, pp. 46 51). In Ghana, there are nearly ninety ethnic groups, and language is the core ethnic marker (Arthur, 2009, p. 50). The electoral system provides a strong incentive to the two dominant parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to engage in crude ethnic politics to win, even when they have lost in the majority of the regions (Ayelazuno, 2011, p. 47). As this system has reified ethnicity, political parties that transcend ethnicity are doomed in a country where the ethnic groups are quite aware of their differences (Ayelazuno, 2011, pp. 22 36). Research Aims In order to arrive at a coherent conclusion, the principal aim is sub divided into three aims: Research aim one (RA1) defines ethnicity, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. A Behind-the-Scenes Look on How Organizations Are... I ve spent the last 20 years in an organization that always had a job for me. I never had to interview for any of my positions when I moved to a new assignment. Before I retired from the Air Force in 2012, I took a Transition Assistance Program (TAP) class. This class went over in depth about preparing the resume and how to interview but made no mention on how organizations use social media for recruiting. As a volunteer for a non profit company, I ve also watched the employees in the HR department struggle to find the right candidate for their administrative assistant position. For the last six months or more, they have relied heavily on a rotating roster of temp agency workers while they continue to interview potential candidates. In the meantime, HR employees are burden with extra duties until the position is filled. The HR department used job boards to advertise the position, but some candidates get as far as a second round of interviews but don t pan out. This paper s purpose is to take a behind the scenes looks on how organizations are advertising job opening in the social media age and what are the best practices for recruiting talent in the social media age. What companies are doing now Social media is a growing facet of the recruitment process, but is not the only source organizations use to advertise their jobs. According to Sinha and Thaly (2013), social media is part of a multi prong approach and is combined with several other avenues: Employee Referral ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Betrayal, Justice and Passivity in Roald Dahl s Lamb to... Roald Dahl, a British novelist, offered his readers a classical short story, Lamb to the Slaughter, with the tale of betrayal, justice, injustice and passivity. Two main characters of the story are detective Mr. Patrick and Ms. Patrick who live in small town. Roald Dahl tries to reflect human nature of perversity, and cruelty through the Lamb to the Slaughter . As the story progresses, theme of love, passion, betrayal and injustice grow stronger. Author smartly shows us how an idle wife becomes a smart criminal to take the revenge of her betrayal and successes to trick officers. As the first paragraph is introduced, Roald Dahl develops an image of Mrs. Patrick Maloney as an idle housewife. Description of the living room reflects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, Author greatly described 1960s housewife as loving, passionate and energetic for her husband. Author also surprises readers, when he introduces conflict between a couple that used to love each other deeply. Diverting the story from love to betrayal, author develops an irony. In the story, reader sees two examples of betrayal. Ms. Maloney, while talking with her tired husband, finds out her husband no longer want to keep their marriage. Without giving any kind of reason, Patrick betrays her wife with a decision of breaking marriage. Mary shocks, when her husband, boldly, says, This is going to be bit shock of you (P. Maloney) Author creates a total opposite picture of Patrick by describing him as a husband who used to give her wife surprises; he is now giving her shock in the middle of her pregnancy. Mary, who was previously shown as anxiety less (Dahl), with a slow smiling air (Dahl) and curiously tranquil (Dahl), had began to get upset and now inculcate her eye with a bewildered look. After betrayed by her husband, she, without any argue, she goes to the basement to look for frozen food. She decides to have leg of a lamb as a last dinner with her husband, but she smashes the frozen leg in to Patrick s head with killing him. Mary betrays her husband by killing him and takes revenge of her betrayal. Later, Author confirms her as a murdered with the statement of I ve killed him (Mary) from her own lips. Children who used the internet for more than one year got very high GPA s than the children who used it less for the improvement of academics. Children who used internet have scored more in standardized tests of reading than the others who used it less than the six months. But when we compare the standardized test scores in mathematics internet has no effect in the achievement of solving mathematics. Greater use of Internet at home will be associated with better academic performance in the months that follow than will less home internet use. As per the evidence obtained from parents children are forbidden to participate in chat or activities that includes with strangers online (Jackson et al., 2004). At times internet use for the communication purpose depends upon the culture of the people as most of the African American culture includes the oral culture (Hale, 1982). As it is one the reason why it needs to be proved that mostly they prefer one to one communication than the people from other cultures. However Children s socio demographic features were also can be responsible for the vivid nature of internet use by children as the evidence from proved that the elder children use internet more than the younger children. However no research has proved that age influences the benefits of internet use in improving the academic performance (Jackson et al., 2004) Internet can be considered as a global communication tool because of its popularity in adolescents and as a source of health information. It can also be used by the school dropout to seek information related to sexual aspects where they cannot find information in their surrounding environment. Thus it can also be considered as a cultural tool kit as it can be shared as the information can be saved and transmitted to the next generations for greater access and technological innovations (Jackson et al., 2004). • 10. Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie In Half of a Yellow Sun, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie attempts to use history in order to gain leverage on the present, to subvert the single story stereotypes that dominate many contemporary discourses on Africa. Written in the genre of historical fiction, Adichie s novel transcends beyond mere historical narration and recreates the polyphonic experiences of varying groups of people in Nigeria before and after the Civil War. She employs temporal distortion in her narrative, distorting time in order to illustrate the intertwining effects of the past and present, immersing deep into the impact of western domination that not only catalyzed the war, but continues to affect contemporary Africa. Not only does he learn about history, he also learns about current events and politics through Odenigbo and his colleagues, and begins forming his own opinions about the war (Adichie 17). His insatiable desire to learn and read leads him to subconsciously memorize, re read and recite texts from Narrative of the Life of Fedrick Douglas, An American Slave, even while serving the army at war, something which he previously regarded as crazy (Adichie 452). Adichie s choice of novel allows her to effectively illuminate the impact of Western culture in Nigeria, and to draw a parallel between Ugwu and Douglas who were both exploited as slaves during the colonial era. Ugwu becomes so immersed in western culture that he finds difficulty in adapting to his former traditional lifestyle when he visits home. He finds the food unpalatable and is disgusted by his sister s lack of hygiene (Adichie 119, 120). Yet, despite being in direct contact with western ideas, Ugwu is still unable to completely free himself of his Nigerian roots. For example, he still believes in the power of the dibia. While Odenigbo and Olanna shrug the dibia off as ludicrous old fashioned thinking, Ugwu is completely convinced that the dibia had something to do with Odenigbo s mother s ability to convince Odenigbo to cheat on Olanna (Adichie 241). • 19. The Theory Of Knowledge And Power INTRODUCTION Post Foucauldian theory of knowledge and power, knowledge has been used as a synonym for power. In 21st century they are considered as two sides of the same coin. Power gives an individual the ability to make others obey in a social relationship irrespective of the basis. As per Foucault power is not only brutal physical force rather an invisible form of network that operates. At times, the operator has no knowledge of this invisible power which controls others. Similarly, knowledge is defined as a belief of an individual or society which is right and justified with a logical explanation. Thus, the assumption that is not true can t be quantified as a knowledge. Belief that is true doesn t qualify as knowledge. It must be explained in order to be called as knowledge. How the belief is justified has been debated over 2000 years by different scholars, radical writers and philosophers and yet to receive a consensus. The relationship between knowledge and power was established by Michael Foucault in a more explorative way as compared to his previous counterparts. According to him knowledge and power both shares a healthy relationship in a continuous manner. As per Foucault s theory power develops through feed of knowledge and in turn power generates knowledge. This method based upon assumption knowledge changes with time. For example new discourse leads to new knowledge (Ball, 2013). Thus, a society that has gained power through knowledge has the power to direct ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Social Actors And Organizations As One Working Unit Blumer lastly notes that although many methodologies observe large social actors and organizations as one working unit, this does not allow the understanding of how the organization functions. Researchers should look at the individuals within the organization to see how those individuals fit together and how they interact. The interactions of the people within the organization paint a picture of how the organization functions and makes its decisions. He does explain that data created from a recreated world is not useable which is understandable because it is not being taken from the real world, but he does not fully explain why quantitative data taken from the real world is inherently wrong. He dismisses any validity it may hold. This is also confusing for the reader because he is very vocal about testability. He sees testability as important but throws out research types with clear testability. Many believe that Blumer s symbolic interactionism lacks hard evidence and testability. A person interprets a symbol and acts how they choose to act. This lacks the ability to be tested incorrect. Because this theory allows for the actor to respond in any way they want, then the theory can never be proven wrong meaning there is no testability (Melzer, Petros, and Reynolds 1975). Skidmore (1975) points out that Blumer s theory does not account for why an actor will make the same choice in a given situation. This paper allows for the assumption that every time an actor faces a situation they consciously interpret it and then make a choice on how to respond. This does not account for the unconscious acts and feelings that go into an action. Some actions are made without a full understanding of why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Just recently Obama took executive action to shield illegal immigrants from deportation. A Texas Judge though blocked his executive action on immigration. Illegal immigration is a huge controversy here in the United States partly due to Americans thinking that illegal immigrates are taking jobs, causing lower wages, and the costs of education. In Immigration and the American Worker, George Borjas found that the presence of immigrant workers, whether they are legal or illegal, made the U.S economy about 11 percent larger each year. If overall the U.S economy is better off with illegal immigrant workers, then why is there a push for harsher immigration policies? The controversy is due to the fact that the impact of illegal immigration changes from state to state. I hypothesize that the problem is the distribution of illegal immigrants across the United States. I believe that the benefits outweigh the costs and that because of the distribution of illegal immigrants, the costs are only felt by a few. By granting amnesty to the undocumented workers we could increase the level of tax payers and better the lives of those who feel the costs of illegal immigrants the most. I will test this hypothesis out by looking at the impact illegal immigrant on the labor market, the cost of illegal immigration, cost of ant immigrant policies, impact of legalization, and impact of amnesty. ... LITERATURE SURVEY Review of literature on speech recognition systems authentically demands consideration towards the finding of Alexander Graham Bell regarding the method of converting sound waves into electrical impulses and the first speech recognition system developed by Davis et al. [6] for finding telephone superiority digits spoken at normal speech rate. This attempt for automatic speech recognition was mainly centered on the edifice of an electronic circuit for discovering ten digits of telephone superiority. Spoken words were examined to obtain a 2 D plot of formant 1 vs. formant 2. A circuit is developed for finding the greatest correlation coefficient among a set of novel incoming data for pattern matching. These features are grouped into feature vectors that serve the purpose of reducing dimensionality and redundancy in the input to the speaker recognition system. An indication circuit was created to exhibit the already discovered spoken digit. The proposed approach lays stress on recognizing speech sounds and providing appropriate labels to these sounds. Various approaches and types of speech recognition systems came into existence in last five decades gradually. This evolution has led to a remarkable impact on the development of speech recognition systems for various languages worldwide. The most important theme in the novel was the experiment that Griffin, the invisible man, was working and it was not going exactly as planned. The major problem with his invisibility was that Griffin was not able to keep or have any friends. His only contact was after he was all bandaged up and looked as though he had been in a bad accident. Without any human contact or support Griffin was destined to become crazy. In the ending chapters of the novel it is obvious that Griffin has lost his mind and is completely insane. Not wanton killing, but a judicious slaying.
