Technology Has Affected The World
Around the globe each individual has a different definition of what a city is to them. Perhaps in
more economically advanced countries, cities to the inhabitants maybe a mere central business
district, a place to commute to for work, a place of entertainment and shopping. But what about
those third world countries, is the city seen as a place, for income which can help support the
family leading them to a better future and perhaps even immigration; for these citizens is the
city a place for trade and markets or somewhere where you can only dream of going to. Where
ever in the world, every individual will have a different definition and vision for the city and the
surrounding areas. However the core purpose of all cities is to lift the... Show more content on

A city has a diverse range of people who come in and out of the area day to day. People come
from near and far, whether it is a 5 minute walk, to a 10 hour flight. With this diversity also lies
another diversity, which is the purpose of their visit and the area of expertise in which they hold.
Maybe it is coming here to gain experience, or it could be coming for work, or plainly tourism and
entertainment. Whatever the reason each day many different views of a city would be created,
largely affected by these backgrounds of the individual. The career of Benjamin W. Richardson
embraced a temperance crusade, compositions in biography, poetry, and play and novel writing, and
substantial professional contributions on physiology, pharmacology, pathology, internal medicine,
anesthesis, epidemiology, sanitation, public health, and dental hygiene. (Van Nostrand s Eclectic
Engineering Magazine, 1876, p. 31 42) through this view it can be understood that Richardson
with a vast range of experience in so many diverse fields can take many stances on planning, with
many representations in one, with this view, it is truly an eye opener. Coelius Aureliamus gave it

Motown Records Influence On Society Essay
Bailey Frigon
Litz
American Lit
December 7, 2016
Motown Records Influence on society Through the creation of Motown records Berry Gordy
changed the barrier between white and black americans and their music. Before Gordy come along
to change the standards of american culture whites and blacks had different labels and music.
Motown Records is the first record label to successfully market black artists to the white
mainstream audience. (Dahl 12 15) Berry Gordy was the first African American to own a music
label and have artists of different races on the same label. In the 1960s racial tension was a
problem because of segregation and equal rights, For the most part, black artists were forced to
record on white owned labels that regarded their work as novelties, one offs and curiosities.
(Ross). When Gordy opened the record label it started to break down the tension between races.
The reason the label opening broken down tention was because Gordy didn t care about the
color of their skin or where they come from. Berry Gordy founded Motown records in 1959.
Before that Gordy grew up in Detroit Michigan and was the seventh of eight children. He was not
the first businessperson in the family; his father as a plastering contractor, his mother as an
insurance agent.when Gordy was young he was interested in music, and his song Berry s Boogie
won a talent contest. However, he did not get a lot of real training in music, only a little on the
piano and about a week on the

Designing A 3d Design Of 3d Printing
3d printing is the process of three dimensional solid objects from a computer file. The following
information is about 3D printing and the processes that it takes to 3D print. There are many pro
and cons to 3D printing that I will list below. In this paper I will also talk about what equipment it
will take to make a 3D print, But first we will talk about the steps to make a 3D design.
There are eight steps to print a 3D design. The first step is to start with making a virtual design of
an object you want to create. The file that you create the image from is called a (CAD) or
Computer Aided Design file. This software may provide some hints to the structural integrity you
can expect in the finished product. It will also help you with specific data about certain materials to
create virtual simulations of how the project will behave under certain conditions.
The second step is called Conversion to STL. You will have to convert the CAD drawing, to the
STL format. STL is an acronym for standard tessellation language. Which is a file format
developed for 3D Systems in 1987 for use by its stereolithography apparatus (SLA) machines.
Most 3D printers use STL files in addition to some proprietary file types such as, ZPR by Z
corporation. Some of the types of printers include, Sterolithography or (SLA), Digital Light
Processing (DLP), Fused deposition modeling (FDM), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Selective
laser melting (SLM), Electronic Beam Melting (EBM), and Lamainatied

training can continue as long as a student is initiating the interaction. Observation of behavior will
be for the entire 6 hour day to measure the effects of the treatment. A parental survey will be given
at the onset of treatment and at the end of the 6th week.
Materials
PECS icons and a PECS book have been obtained as well as a laminator and this researcher will
select 5 icons measuring 2 x 2 with a Velcro adhesive on the back. The icons have been
predetermined via reviewing previous session notes to determine what factors seem to be most
linked to maladaptive behaviors. For example, this student is highly motivated for the iPad, so there

Tantrum Defined as the occurrence of one or both of the above listed topographies of behavior that
continue to occur for longer than 10 seconds. A tantrum ends after 30 seconds of appropriate
behavior (e.g., sitting quietly, watching television, playing with toy, etc.).
Communication Defined as vocal behavior which may be echoic or intelligible which is in
response to a stimulus. Vocal approximations to words will also be counted as a vocal attempt
such as pees for please .
Independent Variable The independent variable for this study will be the PECS exchange, which
has been modified from two trainers to one. The researcher will play the part of both
communicative partner and physical prompter, if necessary. The exchange will consist of the
subject picking up the 2x2 icon, reaching towards the researcher and placing the icon in the
researcher s hand. This will constitute one instance of PECS regardless of whether it is initiated by
the student or the researcher. During the treatment phase CG s mother will be reminded daily to
make her duplicate icons available to him at all times.

Forgiving My Father Lucille Clifton
The death of a parent is never an easy thing to go through it is heartbreaking and overwhelming,
but it is a different story when parent and child aren t on the best of terms or possibly never really
got to know each other. As a result of the parent passing it can cause the child to be haunted by the
past always hoping their relationship could change. Once the parentpasses it is impossible to
reconcile any issues. The only option is to learn to forgive or forget any wrong doings and move
on with life. Poets Lucille Clifton and Sylvia Plath both have poems that address this in very
powerful and beautifully written ways. Both of their poems depict a speaker process of gaining
freedom from their fathers after they have passed.
Clifton s poem forgiving my father is about a speaker that has been tormented by the death of her
father, not because he died, but because of the way he lived his life. He was unable to provide for
his family, and she hated him for this. His inability to provide may have led her mother to work
herself into an early grave, which only adds to her anger with her father. She spent her life hating
him, but in the end, she realizes that he will never be able to make up for being financially
unstable. She must forgive him and carry on with her life.
Plath s poem Daddy isn t about forgiving a father like Clifton s. It s about trying to forget about
the anger of losing a father early on in life. In Plath s poem, the speaker s father died when she
was young. The loss of her father made her develop a hatred for him because she never had a
chance to know him. Her anger towards him was so extreme that she turned him into a
monstrous being. Even with all her anger, all she really wanted was to please him she went as
far as to make a model out of him and married a man just like him. When her marriage failed she
realized she must kill them both and move on with her life without the pain and anger of losing her
father at a young age.
At the start of each poem the speaker s show signs of being haunted by their father s memory and
are tormented after their passings. In Clifton s poem, she states all week you have stood in my
dreams/ like a ghost, asking for more time (3 4). In His line the

Essay on Valley Winery Case Study
Case One:
Valley Winery
Valley Winery, a favorable wine company, hired Pat Waller as their sales manager of the San
Francisco region s chain division. Although the company has had increasing sales for the past
several years, Valley Winery has its fair share of problems that have Waller worried. He is very
aware of the competitiveness within the wine industry and is concerned that Valley Winery will not
be able to continue consistently increasing their sales.
Turnover rate is the number one issue at Valley Winery. Every problem the company has bleeds
into the turnover rate. The company s turnover rate is currently at almost 100 percent a year; this is
a huge issue that Waller must address. The existing sales rep employment average... Show more

With so much responsibility given to one person, effectiveness becomes a concern. The person in
charge of hiring judges candidates based on youth and physical characteristics, rather than
legitimate credentials. There is no consistency or checks and balances within the hiring process.
Essentially, a single person is making all of the hiring decisions without any guidelines from upper
management. Hiring sales reps based on qualifications would correlate with a reduction in the
turnover rate.
The fourth and final issue is the quotas set for the sales reps. Unattainable quotas are the issue
behind the turnover rate and the aggressive sales attitudes. Right now, each sales rep is required
to meet monthly display quotas for different lines of products. It is nearly impossible for the reps
to meet their quotas, which leads to exaggerating numbers and tampering with competitors
products. Sales reps are discouraged by unrealistic quotas and overwhelming workloads; a
combination that leads to low employee morale and high turnover. In order to solve his laundry list
of issues, Pat Waller must do some serious restructuring, beginning with the hiring process. Waller
needs to begin recruit top performers from competing firms. Because the wine industry is
incredibly competitive, this will help the Valley Winery stay on top. Also, the interview process
needs to be more thorough and realistic.

Julia Alvarez
In the story Antojos by Julia Alvarez, the main character, a wealthy Dominican woman named
Yolanda, travels to the Dominican Republic in order to search for her cultural and personal identity.
Her difficulty interacting and relating to her old family members before she immigrated to America
reflects the emotional hardship of immigration.
The setting of this story is crucial to the plot of the story because it changes frequently to
distinguish social class and amount of wealth, as well as shifting perspectives. Yolanda
immigrated from the Dominican Republic at a very early age to escape the revolutions that were
always breaking out inside her capital city where she and her parents resided. This means after so
many years, the Dominican Republic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yolanda, after having been away for so many years, cannot express herself fluently in Spanish
anymore, so it is very hard to communicate with her family in the same as she used to, highlighting
another hardship of immigration. Her initial distrust of men we see near the middle of the
reading reflects her fears of the Dominican Republic after five years of being away. This is very
important to the arc of the story and simply to her character development as a whole because
though she should be at home in her home country, she feels like a foreigner and is more
comfortable being treated as such when the men confront her at her car and asked if she spoke
Spanish. Yolanda also consistently predicts the wrong reaction from people she meets in the
Dominican Republic. She expects the two men with machetes to kill her and steal her things,
when in fact they were actually trying to help her. They ended up changing the tire on her car
and walking away. She also expects the security guard at the mansion to respect the young boy,
Jose, she sends for help. Instead, the security guard punishes and beats the boy for lying, because
he did not believe a Dominican woman would be by herself alone in the night with an expensive
car. This shows very well

Human Trafficking Violates Human Rights
Human trafficking is a topic that is not discussed very often in society. Many people fail to realize
that human trafficking still exists today. Human trafficking violates basic human rights. It takes
away the freedom and security of men, women, and children world wide. The diversity and
widespread execution of human traffickingmake it difficult to regulate and prosecute. In the
international effort to prosecute human trafficking, several guidelines and definitions of human
trafficking have been provided:

trafficking. The Department of State describes male trafficking:
The sex trafficking of boys is often hidden, reflecting cultural taboos in many parts of the world.
In Afghanistan and coastal Sri Lanka, boys are more likely than girls to be subjected to
prostitution; in Mexico and Central America, boy migrants are vulnerable to commercial sexual
exploitation en route to the United States; boys in Southeast Asia are exploited in prostitution; to a
lesser extent, men are victims of sex trafficking; in recent years, Brazilian men were identified in
forced prostitution in Spain and men were identified as sex trafficking victims in the United States.
(Male Trafficking Victims). Different age groups fall victim to trafficking as well. Not only adults,
but also children, are trafficked worldwide. Child trafficking is defined as the recruitment,
transportation, transfer, harbouring, or receipt of children for the purpose of exploitation (Child
Protection from Violence, Exploitation and Abuse). Children make up almost twenty percent of
trafficking victims around the world. However, in some parts of Africa and the Mekong region,

Nationalist Movements of the Middle East and South Asia...
The years after World War One brought about vast changes to many parts of the world. Places
like South Asia and the Middle East were able to see the need for self government away from
foreign control. This sparked a number of nationalist movements during the 1920 s and 1930 s.
The Middle East had to Westernize to rid foreign control while India had to be united under non
violence and Hindu values.
Before WW1, the Middle East was dominated by outside powers. Egypt was under British control
and Persia was divided in to Russian and British spheres of influence. The Ottomans tried to
promote change with the Tanzimat reforms which allowed some industrialization and
modernization. However, in 1908, the Young Turks took over and... Show more content on

This led to scarce food supplies, forced labor, and mistreatment of the peasantry, so Egypt was
ready for a revolt at the end of the war. The Egyptian nationalist elites decided to form a Wafd
(meaning delegation in Arabic) party under the leader Sa d Zaghlul that rid the British in 1936
from the Suez Canal. However, they did very little to alleviate the misery of the majority. Rather,
Egyptian politicians held office just to increase their own family fortune and had no time for
land reforms and public works projects that the peasantry desperately needed. Thus, the Egytian
revolution led to backwardness. The peasantry of India similarly suffered during WW1. India
was controlled by the British who pushed the peasantry for cash crops such as cotton (muslin),
jute, and indigo. India s budget was used for the expenses of the British army and the salaries
/pensions of British administrators. Many Indians died on the battlefield for a conflict that had
little to do with them. War led to inflation which affected all parts of society. Peasants were
angered about set prices on market goods despite the rising cost. People were unable to sell what
they produced due to shipping shortages. The meager wages of laborers dropped while prices
increased. Only bosses grew rich from profits earned in war production. Many commoners suffered
from epidemics and starvation. At the end of

Practitioners should make sure that they record and report most things in the setting. They need to
make sure that everything is confidential and no one finds out any private information about the
children.
It is important for every child s document to be recorded and looked after safely. If a child s
folder with all there background information is left out for another parent to see and that child s
parent is in prison for example, the parent might feel different about that child knowing that there
parents are in prison. So staff should keep files locked away in a filing cabinet in the staff room and

Sunshine Chapel Narrative
I can still recall the day I stepped foot into Sunshine Chapel. The walls shimmered with a golden
sheen; the floor was marbled and impeccable. The pristine desk, the neat little rows of plush
chairs, the potted plants stationed at every corner... they all gave the chapel an air of quiet
efficiency. However, I could not help but feel as if their only purpose was to distract from the
room s atmosphere. The emotions of those who had once trod upon the chapel s grounds were
still etched into the walls, and no amount of scrubbing could erase them. The receptionist
glanced up as we approached. Are you here for Bich Lai s funeral? My father gave a gruff nod,
while my mother only clutched my sister s arm. All right, that ll be the room right in the center,
she chirped. You can t miss it. My sister thanked her before leading us towards the centermost
room. The sound of heavy rain followed in our wake. I thought it rather strange that today, of all
days, was wet and dreary it had been a warm spring otherwise, and such heavy downpours were
practically unheard of. Perhaps the weather had changed when we drove from the sleepy city of
Milpitas to the bustling streets of San Jose. Regardless, the persistent tap tap tap was soon replaced
by the soft murmurs of men and women in demure black clothing. Strangers and relatives alike...

Warren Bennett Believes That The Old Waiter Is A Materialist
Warren Bennett believes that the Older Waiter is a materialist. I agree that the Old Waiter is a
materialist and his views of the world as having nothing. According to Bennett s claim that the Old
waiter is a Materialist, the older waiter is unable to master such faith or confidence, and beyond
material there is nothing (Bennett 75). The definition reads the emphasis on material objects,
comforts, and considerations, with a disinterest in or rejection of spiritual, intellectual or cultural
values (dictionary.com). But, I think that the Old Waiter feels this ways because he has nothing in
his life I have never had confidence and I am not young. (Hemmingway). The Old waiter fits the

Old Man is used as a conversation for the two waiters to contrast their views of the world. I agree
with Bennett that the Old Man is used as a topic of discussion. The two waiters are able to
discuss what they think of the old man. The old man and the young waiter both have
nothingness in their lives. In comparison to the younger waiter who actually has a wife and
wants to go home every night I m not lonely. I have a wife waiting in bed for me (Hemmingway).
The Old man is out drinking because he has no wife and has nothing in his life. Later we see the
reflective human condition in that the Older Waiter goes out drinking for himself, he relfects
because he has nothing too. I agree with Bennett that the younger waiter is in a hurry, he
actually has something, but unlike the two older men they prefer to stay out drinking to be
away from the darkness of their homes. I think that the importance of this getting old people
seem to lose their function. The young waiter is fresh and the life is waiting for him. In
comparison to the old men who are now old and reflect on their lives. They wished they could
have done something different or had a better life. It is important to have something and people
around to be happy. It is easy to look at others and judge that they do not belong. But like the old
man who lost his wife, the younger waiter had a wife and companionship. Hemmingway is getting

Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is based on the biblical story of Joseph, who
was born in Canaan, or ancient Israel. In the musical version, he is listed as the last of the sons
of Jacob. His brothers are jealous of Joseph and when they were in the fields, they beat him up
and sold him into slavery to a group of Ishmaelites. The Ishmaelites take Joseph to Egypt, where
he first serves the house of Potiphar, one of the richest men in Egypt. He is accused of attacking
Potiphar s Wife and sent to jail. After several years in Jail, Joseph is sent to interpret the dreams
of the Pharaoh. Joseph predicted Pharaoh s dreams were a premonition about seven years of good

There is a divide between those with money and those without. Wealth bought power and
privilege, which allowed Potiphar to buy Joseph when he was sold into slavery. Wealth also
allowed for individuals like Potiphar and the Pharaoh to put people in jail on a whim. The
Narrators spoke of that ease about the Baker and Butler, Both in the doghouse for doing their
thing (Joseph, 48). Joseph was innocent of the crimes he was accused of, but it didn t matter,
because Potiphar s Wife accused him and she had the power over him. Political Environment
The patriarchy in both Canaan and Egypt holds the key to power. Jacob was allowed to bestow
powers, privileges, and gifts to those he wanted. He chose to give special treatment to Joseph
because his mother was his favorite wife. In Egypt, Pharaoh held all the power. He would get
what he wanted or else someone would pay a price. He had the power to pardon Joseph and
release him from jail. When Joseph interprets the dreams correctly and comes up with a plan for
the famine, he gains status in the ranks of Pharaoh s advisors. He can then use this power to both
help and test his brothers when they suddenly arrive one day asking for food. In the world of the
play, those with power ultimately find themselves being able to obtain a lot. Those without power
are at the mercy of those with power. There is an added stress about the difference between power
and tyranny, as bestowing benefits on those with less who worked

interpersonal skills, and the contribution of performance review and goal setting to the success of

PART ONE: Individual, Team, or Group Methods of Working

This led to the development of Belbin s Self Perception Inventory which initially identified eight
distinct team roles (the ninth role of specialist was identified after the initial research). In 1981,
Belbin s Self Perception Inventory was included in his book Management Teams: Why they
succeed or fail . This inventory was derived from past versions. The 9 Belbin Team Roles are:
Completer/Finisher, Chairman/Co ordinator, Monitor/Evaluator, Implementer, Resource
Investigator, Plant, Shaper, Team worker, and Specialist.
Belbin believed individuals have a preferred team role, alongside a secondary team role which
would only show itself if the preferred team role was being played by another staff member or
there was a gap in the team in which a role was not being played. Belbin suggested therefore, that
the team role composition of a team may determine if it is successful or if it fails.
Bruce Tuckman, an educational psychologist described a simple, easy to understand theory of

Privacy Act 1974
This case study should have addressed provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974, the provisions of the

One of the provision of the Privacy Act of 1974 is that provides individual access to his or her

Hernan Cortez Expedition
During a time when there were many expeditions to the new world, Hernan Cortez was a man
who set out to expand Spain s grasp on newly discovered land. The Governor had scheduled for
Cortez to explore the newly discovered Mexico area in a small expedition. It was ultimately
canceled, but Cortez still set out on February 18th, 1519 with Spanish men to the new land.
In Mexico, Cortez claimed the land for Spain and prepared to take down the Mayans and their
leader, Montezuma II. He acquired an interpreter and mistress from natives at Tabasco and then
teamed up with the Tlaxcalans, enemies of the Aztecs. He and his men marched through Mexico

Character Analysis Of Mae Holland In The Circle
Mae Holland is an ambitious, intelligent young woman and the main character in Dave Eggers
novel The Circle. Although her character is paramount to telling the novel s main story (detailing
the prominence of the monopolistic, power hungry tech company known as The Circle ), she is
hardly a protagonist, with her being ill informed at best at the book s beginning, and complicit in
the Circles nefarious doings by the novel s conclusion. Mae is an exceptionally bland character
who offers little interesting internal dialogue and who s only notable overarching character trait
is her ever present insecurity and her need to please others. Arguably, it could be said that Mae
truly is not the main character of The Circle at all; Rather The Circle company itself, or more
precisely Mae s relationship with the The Circle (and by association its dystopian philosophies)
are what take center stage. As a character, Mae is malleable; a clean slate waiting to take orders
and eager to agree with her superiors, she yearns for attention from others, is figuratively trapped
inside The Circle s elaborate campus, and acts as a mouthpiece for the The Circle s leaders;
repeating whatever they want her to say. Due to the fact that Mae Holland possess these
characteristics, she is comparable to a parrot.
The same way a parrot enters its cage with a blank mind, devoid of any calls or phrases, Mae
approaches her job at The Circle with an open mind, not influenced by any previous work
experiences. When thinking of the occupation she previously held prior to working at The
Circle, Mae expresses extreme discontent. Her final day at the public utility in her hometown
had been only three weeks ago they d been stupefied when she gave notice but it already seemed
impossible that she wasted so much of her life there. Good riddance, Mae thought, to that gulag
and all it represented (pg 4). The passage above indicates that Mae loathed her previous job,
considering it a waist of her life and likening it to a gulag . This shows that Mae felt little passion
or allegiance to her old job, and thus approaches her new job at The Circle with a blank mind, not
considering her previous experiences valuable to her in any way.

The Expedition Of Lewis And Clark
Without the expedition of Lewis and Clark, the American history that people know would be
completely different changing the accomplishments in history. The background and experience
Lewis and Clark already developed prior to the expedition would be very beneficial and help
make the journey easier. The development of the mission played a key part in the expedition
itself because if the development did not play out exactly how Jefferson planned, then the
expedition may not have been as successful. A big part of history, the expedition was very
significant and impacted American society in ways that no one will ever be able to understand.
Although the expedition of Lewis and Clark would be a very long journey, the United States
would not have developed into such a prosperous country without the two men who traveled
across the terrain in rain and snow in order to improve the United States. Meriwether Lewis was
born August 18, 1724 near Ivy Virginia where he would begin a journey that would change
history. In 1801, Thomas Jefferson asked Lewis to be his private secretary after he helped in the
Whiskey Rebellion, which was farmers who started an uprising against taxes in 1794. Lewis had a
very prominent role within the state militia, which would benefit him in the future. William Clark
was born August 1, 1770 in Caroline County Virginia where he would influence America in many
ways. At the young age of 19, Clark entered into the military where people knew him as the younger

Sacrifice In Barbara Kingsolver s Poisonwood Bible
Orleanna Price s Sacrifice
Everyday we all make sacrifices for people we love and in rare cases those we do not. The book
Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver illuminates one family and the sacrifice they make to
journey from their comfortable home in Georgia to the untamed jungle of Africa s Congo to preach
as Baptist missionaries. The story takes place in the 1960s during the withdrawal of Belgian
influence in the Congo. One of the family members Orleanna Price the wife and mother of the
family sacrifices everything she has to make this journey that her husband so willfully accepted.
Through her sacrifice it shows us what she values. This is shown through the sacrifice of her
agency, way of life and her happiness.

slaving over a hot stove, Father hardly notices she d won over the crowd. (49) Orleanna has just

seen all the hard work she does to make his life easier. Although Orleanna sacrifices her
happiness she is making her family happy by making life for them better. This shows that she
values selflessness. She is willing to give up her happiness to see others happy. This is very
important because without her selflessness there would have been a very different outcome of the
book that would have been very hard on the rest of the family. Orleanna s willingness to serve is

Motorcycle Helmet Debate
Over the years a debate has arisen about the necessity to wear motorcycle helmets. One side of the
debate is adamant that wearing helmets should be a free choice, while the other is certain it should
be a mandatory precaution. Helmets provide multiple layers of protection for the control center of
our body, the brain. Riders who refuse to wear a helmetare 40% more likely to suffer a deadly
infirmity form a motorcycleaccident. Therefore, in order to prevent fatal injuries, I believe
motorcyclists should be required by law to wear helmets. There are four basic components that
contributes protection to a motor cycle helmet: the outer shell, impact absorbing layer, comfort
padding, and retention system. The outer shell compresses whenever a rider collides with a hard...

Analysis linked to CODES showed that in just three states if helmet laws were to be removed, the
extra inpatient charges would nearly double from $2,325,000 to $4,095,000. Another codes study
showed that patients with brain injuries pay 2.25 times the bill of a patient without a brain injury.
Furthermore, in 2002 alone, NHTSA estimated that motorcycle helmet use saved $19.5 billion and
during the same time period another $14.8 billion could ve been conserved if all motorcyclists
would have worn a helmet. This is no measly amount of money to be wasted because of an
extremely poor choice. The other side of the arguement is convinced that it is the right of the
driver to decide whether or not to wear a helmet. They believe the government should not be
allowed to infronge on this right. However, it is the responsibility of the government to protect its
people s lives. Those who believe this also argue that helmets don t prevent accidents from
happening. However, they seem to overlook the fact that helmets are the most effective way to
prevent fatal injuries from motorcycle

Summary Of Homosexuality In Kushner s Angels In America
Femininity is something that can often be overlooked by the authors of any literary piece. During
the time of Angels in America , Homosexuality was not something that was as widely noticed, or
even respected, during the 1990s, in which the play was written. The play, taking place in
Manhattan, New York, being a fairly loud city, homosexuality would generally be something that is
not widely accepted. Kushner represented the ups and downs of homosexuality and a character with
aids, becoming realistic for events that could potentially happen. Femininity is not often seen in
men especially in the past, since they always relied on having more manlike qualities. Femininity is

He says that cats have intuition (19), becoming an indirect representation of himself who knew that
something s wrong (19) between them. Prior defending the cat and its knowledge, is defending
himself, with the statement that he has his own intuition. The cat s intuition relates to a female s
human agency because intuition is one way that women are able to achieve that self achievement.
Though there is a bit of knowledge, a woman s human agency is still challenged due to the nature of
the time period. The connotation of know (19) relates to the femininity with the instinct that women
have knowing everything. Even though a woman may know everything, her femininity causes her
agency to fall because women are generally considered stupid (19).
Jehlen s theory of gender criticizes Kushner s view on femininity. Jehlen states that the ideas of
gender written out by writers are incorporate assumptions about the nature of sexual identity that
organize and even suggest critical perception (263), which is what Kushner metaphorically suggests
women to be. Women are assumed to be weak. Stupid (19) and rather feminine, which avoids
Jehlen s idea of equality and true recognition of femininity. Jehlen criticizes Kushner s writings on
femininity because she proves that women do have intuition (19), agreeing with Prior s voice.

There are many political issues that have occured that are considered disgraceful. Some incidents

Joyce Carol Oates to write the dark grim novel Black Water . Oates s had brought attention to the

Making Schools Safer from Bullying
Have you ever been bullied or witnessed anyone suffering from any form of bullying? If the
answer is yes, then you should know the negative feeling that is created from it. The Youth Internet
Safety Survey, conducted by the Crimes against Children Research Center at the University of
New Hampshire, found that eight percent of the youth surveyed had experienced and reported
some form of harassment. An old familiar saying is that Sticks and Stones may break my bones,
but words will never hurt me , which is a lie! Simple bullying is defined as repeated verbal,
physical, and social behaviors that are hurtful to any individual or group of persons. It can include
humiliation, domination, intimidation and all forms of harassment not limited to: race, gender,
disability, or sexual orientation ( nsw.gov.au ). All forms of bullying have been proven to leave
long term effects on the victims. Bully victims are between 2 to 9 times more likely to consider
suicide than non victims, according to studies by Yale University ( Bullying Statistics ). It is not
just students that encourage the bully who victimized, but the students who watch in silence hurt
the victim as well. Bullying leads back to the beginning of time, but in more recent years, it has
become more publicly talked about. Although, the government began to nationally address bullying
and advanced training is being provided to educators

Hermia s Speech By William Shakespeare
Hermia s speech in Act 2, Scene 2, contains an abundance of dream imagery. She has awoken
from a terrible dream after falling asleep in the forest with Lysander. They were lost and tired and
decided to rest. Lysander wanted to sleep beside her but she refused since they are not yet married
and while they slept Puck applied a lovepotion on Lysander s eyes thinking he was Demetrius.
Lysander wakes and is repulsed by the sight of Hermia and never wants to see her again because
he is now in love with Helena. Hermia awakes from her terrible dream and retells it thinking that
Lysander is nearby listening. Then she realizes that he is not there and she does not see him
anywhere. Hermia expresses the sentiment that she will find Lysander or she will surely die.
She stated, Help me, Lysander, help me! do thy best To pluck this crawling serpent from my
breast! Ay me, for pity! what a dream was here! Lysander, look how I do quake with fear:
Methought a serpent eat my heart away, And you sat smiling at his cruel pray. Lysander! what,

Mandatory Donations of Dues There is no such thing as freedom of choice unless there is
freedom to refuse, stated David Hume. The case Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association,
which just recently began oral hearings the week of January 11th, centers on the questions of
whether union dues are inherently political and if they are... whether employees who are not
union members can be compelled to pay them (KQED News). Those in favor of the plaintiff,
Rebecca Friedrichs, a teacher from Orange County, believe that employees who are not union
members should not have to pay union dues because the CTA cannot require its nonmembers to
pay for political causes, seeing as doing so compels them to identify with a public policy cause, a
violation of their First Amendment rights. Those against the eradication of union dues for non
union members believe the fees are necessary because the union has a legal duty to represent all
teachers at the bargaining table, even those who are not part of the union; if nonmembers can be
represented by the union without paying any fee, there would be a strong incentive to become a
free rider and not join the union, leading to a weakened force at the negotiation table. Because this
requirement of dues is a direct violation of the Constitution, teachers that aren t members of the
California Teachers Association should not have to support the union and its

Causes And Policies Of Financial Crises
Causes and Policies in Financial Crises
Financial Crises are well known phenomena in economics history; however, after the Great
Financial Crisis of 2007 2009 the role that Central Banks play in order to prevent Financial Crises
has been questioned. To begin with, it is important to understand that crises consist of highly
complex macro financial linkages that reflect the interactions between the financial sector and the
real economy (Claessens 2012). Additionally, it is important to highlight two different financial
crises groups: Currency and sudden stop crisis, which have strictly quantitative definitions; and debt
and banking crises that depend on qualitative and judgmental analysis (Claessens 2012).
Nevertheless, the interconnectivity of the financial sector demonstrates that major crises are a
blend of the different types; thus, the effects on real economy are larger (Laevene 2008). In
consequence, governments and central banks have the responsibility to develop monetary and
macro prudential policies to appropriately supervise and regulate the financial industry (Norgren
2010). However, central banks have failed to appropriately understand the main symptoms that
precede financial crises: credit booms and asset booms (Bijapur 2015). In fact, it is essential to
comprehend these symptoms in order to develop policies that strengthen the fragility of the
financial industry; hence, upholding stable growth and inflation.
The last major financial crises demonstrate that the

The Role Of Faith In The Screwtape Letters By C. S. Lewis
In the novel The Screwtape Letters, C. S. Lewis depicts how Christians have strong reason and
faith. These letters are used to contradict the bible as if god is satin and satin is god. Within the
letters, the patient is supposed to be a Christian man that is being used in an experiment for the
dark side. However, the patient resisted the temptations that the devil threw at him, and is able to
beat the devil by having faith. This is a strong point that the narrator illustrates, because Screwtape

It allows the patient to imagine that he is not being gluttonous for example only accepting small

the teeniest bit of really crispy toast, the sin of greed is horrible and most of the time unnoticeable
when committed, because it is used to obtain exactly what one wants at any means necessary

perfection can never be attained, and the disappointment of not getting their way could result in ill

Impacts of Climate Change on Australia Alps’ Ski Industry
The changing nature of snow cover as a result of alpine climate change is a modern phenomenon
that climate scientists are beginning to understand. Declining snow depth and duration have serious
implications for Australia s ski industry, in particular the longevity of the industry. This essay
discusses the impacts of alpine climate change on snowcover, adaption strategies to sustain the
industry s economy as well as the unsustainable nature of snowmaking as a long term solution.
Limitations on water and energy resource make snowmaking problematic as a substitute for natural
snow. The essay highlights the unsustainability of snowmaking as a short term solution, and raises
concerns of the longevity of the ski industry.
Currently, the Australian ski industry comprises of ten operational ski resorts (Figure 1) with
0.15% of the continent (Green and Pickering 2009, p. 271) regularly receiving snow due to the low
attitude of mountains. Consequently, decline in snow cover on top of limited snow availability

Theme Of Human Nature In Franz Kafka
The most fatalities in human nature are greedy and selfish. Human is known for neglect, or
throw things away when it becomes nonfunctional. Franz Kafka analyzed psychological human
behavior beyond the fictional story. The reader experiences a deeper meaning of suppressed
desires which are stored in our subconscious mind. Protagonist Gregor gets transformed into a
monstrous bug seems fantasy story at first glance, but if you dive deep into the Metamorphosis ,
it reveals the dilemma of human s subconscious mind as suppression of desires. The equation of
human relationship changed, people show up their frustration, and ready to give away
nonfunctional existence. Thus, revealing facts of human nature creates a bitter taste in the life.
The way equation of human relationship changes due to selfish nature, its classic example is
Samsa family. The transformation into a bug is a symbol of subconsciously suppressed desires.
As long Gregor was earning good money and providing quite a decent life to his family the
harmony between Gregor and his family was exemplary. By doing so, Gregor has given up or
suppressed his many desires. Before the transformation into the bug Kafka talks, When Gregor
Samsa woke up one morning from unsettling dreams, he found himself changed in his bed into a
monstrous vermin ( pg. 3, I) . The unsettled dream is a symbol of Gregor s subdued mental
condition. Gregor is ready to protest his present living situation. If you

How Wars Always Have Disastrous Effects On Civilians
Wars always have disastrous effects on civilians, in particular on children who are growing up in
a world of violence and are surrounded by atrocities and deaths. It can be even more traumatic
when children find themselves taking an active part in conflicts. Indeed in numerous conflicts,
combatants aged under eighteen, and therefore considered as child soldiers , are involved.
Although international law expressly prohibit the recruitment and use of youths aged under
fifteen, about 300,000 child soldiers are currently taking part in hostilities, and many do not have
the legal age to do so. Some are enrolled by force, but many volunteer for various reasons. Some
claim that children should not have anything to do with political issues and wars and thus should
not be prosecuted, while others claim that all children are not purely victims and may be partly
responsible for their acts. This essay argues that because they are children, child soldiers cannot be
prosecuted along with adults, and should rather benefit of support programmes in order to enable
their reintegration into the civilian society. However this reintegration may takes years and cannot
be successful until it is sure that children are no longer a threat for the society or for themselves,
and it may require that children spend time in detention centers for minors until they are no longer
a danger. The first part will focus on the different situations that can lead children to become
soldiers. I will then explain

Silence Breakers Speech
Speak Up
When a voice breaks the silence, it commands attention; it commands to be heard. In Time
magazine s article The Silence Breakers , there are numerous stories of people who found their
voice and spoke up in regards to sexual harassment and assault. People should always use their
voices and help others who have no voice regarding sexual harassment and assault. The more
people use their voice, the harder it is for them to be ignored.
People must be willing to speak up more about the injustice that has been deeply rooted into our
society, for it is harder to be ignored the less silent they are; for how can a issue be resolved if no
one knows there is an issue. The #MeToo movement was a way for people to use their voices
regarding sexual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before the #MeToo movement and the Weinstein scandal there was virtually no outlets for
victims to go for help. Sexual assault and harassment is a topic that has been left in the dark for
far too long and there needs to be more prominent action and legislation to help deter these
grotesque acts from happening. New legislation should be passed to provide stricter punishments
to those who choose to sexually assault people. A well known case of sexual assault occurred at
Stanford College where Brock Turner only received a six month sentence for sexually assaulting a
female student there. Turner then only served three out of six months of his sentence (Gagnon and
Grinberg). Sexual assault and harassment is a topic that people must pay attention too. For on
average, there are 321,500 victims (age 12 or older) of rape and sexual assault each year in the
United States alone ( Victims of Sexual Violence: Statistics ). All of those victims need to be
heard and they need the outlets to be heard. #MeToo provided what people needed. It encouraged
people to use their voices and to speak up about what had happened to them. Time s magazine
article The Silence Breakers also made people more aware about what the victims go through and
what they still face post trauma. The more people talk about sexual assault and harassment, the
more people cannot ignore that fact that it happens every day and

Violence in the Media Essay
Violence in Media and Subliminal Messages
Media negatively impacts its viewers, resulting in violent behavior through desensitization, creating
fearful and aggressive attitudes, while reducing their ability to be creative, which will only worsen
in the future due to the magnification and importance on violence in society today. Violence and
aggression were once seen as shameful; however acts of aggression have increased by 46% since
the 1970 s and by 2030 are expected to increase by another 24% (American Psychological
Association, 2012). Movies, television screens and video games have all glorified violence and
many various forms of aggression. At a very young age, children s minds are incredibly easy to

It was called Notel by her research team because it was a no television town. The city got
television for the first time in the year of 2003. Williams and her associates decided to study the

psychological aggression. Two years after the introduction of TV, rates of physical aggression
among children in Notel increased by 160% and 33% after only one week .Therefore, it is not
without reason that in 2006, the House of Delegates passed Resolution 38: The house declares TV
violence threatens the health and welfare of young Americans...and encourages opposition to TV
programs containing violence (Brandon S. Centerwall, 2006). Demonstrating, how television has a
tremendous negative impact and the simple presence of this form of media results in an increase in
physical aggression, alas threatening the well being of the individuals. Television has many
negative implications on society, as it is in human nature to mimic actions viewed, thus the increase

Hydrate Lab
The following laboratory experiment calls for a moderate understanding of what a hydrate is,
what its properties are, and how altering a hydrate s chemical structure may cause the release of
both water and acidic vapors. A hydrate itself is a chemical, typically a crystalline salt, which
incorporates water (H2O) into its chemical structure. For example, the compound CoCl2 is merely
cobalt (II) chloride, however, take the original compound and attach a water moleculeand it
becomes CoCl2 + 6 H2O. In other words, the original cobalt (II) chloride is now cobalt (II) chloride
hexahydrate.
The bond between the compounds and the water molecules is weak and therefore easily broken.
Typically, these bonds are broken through the heating of the compound.

This definition has the advantage of simplifying Clinical Decision Support to a functional concept.
Basic definition of a CDSS in its simplest form is that it is a decision support system (DSS) that is
used in the clinical setting. Often a Diagnostic Decision Support System DDSS is assumed to be
equivalent to a CDSS and are thought to be interchangeable. However, in a clinical setting, making
diagnoses based on clinical data is only a subset of the spectrum in which DSS can be used in a
clinical setting. Purpose/Goal
The main purpose of modern CDSS is to assist clinicians at the point of care. This means that a
clinician would interact with a CDSS to help determine diagnosis, analysis, etc. of patient data.
Previous theories of CDSS were to use the CDSS to literally make decisions for the clinician. The
clinician would input the information and wait for the CDSS to output the right choice and the
clinician would simply act on that output. The new methodology of using CDSS to assist forces the
clinician to interact with the CDSS utilizing both the clinician s knowledge and the CDSS to make
a better analysis of the patients data than either human or CDSS could make on their own. Typically
the CDSS would make suggestions of outputs or a set of outputs for the clinician to look through
and the clinician officially picks useful information and removes erroneous CDSS suggestions.

The Consequences Of The Blockade Of Qatar
On October 25, 2017, The Guardian reported that Egypt, Bahrain, UAE, and Saudi Arabia s
blockade of Qatar has the potential to create long lasting rifts in the region. In June of this year, the
aforementioned nations all cut off diplomatic ties with the small peninsular nation of Qatar. Saudi
Arabia and UAE said that diplomatic and economic relations would be restored once Qatarhas
broken all of its links with the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, and Iran. Qatar emphatically denied
that it had any financial links with those extremist groups. This stalemate has led to a long lasting
blockade that as of writing is still ongoing. With no end in sight, some observers are worried that
the blockade will have negative impacts on the region and on... Show more content on

Fearing uprisings of their own, nations such as the United Arab Emirates backed Saudi Arabia.
When Hamad abdicated the throne in 2013, it appeared that Qatar s international influence would
end. Until this year, that certainly seemed to be the case. Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, and Egypt
enacted a blockade of Qatar, which prompted an international response. President Trump and the
United States appeared to back Saudi Arabia, while Iran and Turkey, two regional powers, backed
Qatar.
The blockade of Qatar is throwing the long held status quo of the region into disarray. All of the
Arab Gulf states are allies of the United States and currently Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Bahrain are
imposing the blockade on Qatar, with Kuwait staying neutral. The involvement of the United
States, Turkey and Iran seems to indicate that this conflict was more than just a petty dispute
between the gulf states. In this unipolar world, it would make sense that once a dominant power
chooses a side, a conflict such as this one would soon meet its conclusion. However, even with the
United States involvement, the Qatar blockade has been in effect for five months and has no end
in sight. This would seem to indicate that perhaps the United States is not as powerful as
previously thought. This leads me to ask the following question: How does the blockade of Qatar
impact American goals in the Middle East.

The Key Concepts Within Modern File Systems
2Abstract
This essay will discuss the key concepts within modern file systems, ranging from simply defining
what a filesystem is, to detailing what exactly a file consists of. Historical developments within file
systems and storage technologies will be outlined, and state of the art file system features will be
described.
3Introduction
Procrustes was an ancient Attican malefactor who forced wayfarers to lie on an iron bed and
either stretched or cut short each person s legs to fit the bed s length. Finally Procrustes was forced
onto his own bed by Thesius.
A similar Procrustean technique was applied to filesystems and data storage for many years.

By separating the data into identifiable blocks, the information can be easily located. (1) Each
grouping of data, which takes its name from the method of organising paper based information, is
referred to as a file . The file system is comprised of two specific parts: a collection of files and a
directory structure, which provides data about and organises all of the files in the file system. (3)
Some filesystems will be used on local data storage devices, whereas others provide access over a
network, through a network protocol such as NFS. (2)
A filesystem can refer to an entire storage system or part of an isolated segment of storage, i.e. a
disk partition. The word filesystem can be used to refer to a partition or disk that is used to
store files or as part of the description of the type of filesystem in use. For example, one could say
this is an extended filesystem in reference to the type of filesystem in use, or I have three
filesystems meaning that one has three partitions on which one can store files. (4) There is an
incredibly important difference between a disk or partition and the filesystem that it contains.
Some programs will operate directly on sectors of a disk or partition, so they could desolate or
seriously corrupt any current filesystem. However, most programs operate at the filesystem level,
and subsequently will not operate correctly on a disk or partition that either does not contain a

Oppression Of White People Essay
People live there lives based on history. White people live there lives based on the history of how
they oppressed the black people. History is present in everyone, from when you are young to
adults (Baldwin, par.3). People learn of there history of what their people did and they feel guilty
of their peoples actions. White peoplehave an instinctual fear that the black peoplewill oppress the
white people exactly like they did to them (par. 10). This is a fear because of something called
color (par.12). Throughout history white men oppressed the black men in to becoming slaves and
not giving them rights. Making them all less than human. White people bare the responsibility for
their peoples actions. They did not do this themselves. White people feed themselves a history that

The Americans have a curtain of color that blinds them. This concept is used by the white people
to justify all the crimes that they commit against black people (par.12). Whites use this curtain to
treat blacks like they are sub human and nothing like themselves (par.14). This curtain will
eventually become a part of their lives. A man is a man, a woman is a woman, a child is a child
(par. 16). Every person is the same on the inside. We strive for the same goals and want the same
success. Don t hide behind the curtain of color. It will cause many hardships and more violence.
History shapes are lives in many ways but we don t have to let it control us fully. Terror and pain
help us realize how history is shaping us. We don t have to take responsibility of what are people
have done to the black people. We still feel guilty of how our people treated them. No longer shall

Women s Fight For Women
Women in Combat
For a long time now women have been an important part of the U.S. military, having performed
admirably in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
The debate on whether women should play a role in combat has been a long standing debate that
has not yet reached a consensus. According to Daniel Davis in his article The Truth About Women
in Ground Combat Roles President Obama commended the December 3 decision by Secretary of
Defense Ash Carter to open all combat jobs to women. Many arguments have been raised in
defense of military policy that bans women from combat roles. According to Megan Mackenzie
in Let Women Fight nearly 214,098 women serve in the U.S. military, representing 14.6 percent
of total service members. The main question or concern is not whether women are capable of
conducting combat operations, but instead is can women endure the physical and physiological
rigors of sustained combat operations. Many people who are against the involvement of women
on the front line make the argument that with women entering combat the standards of the
military will be lowered. Women have already proven their selves to be able to do just about as
much as men can in a combat role. However, there are quite a few concerns when it comes to
women serving in combat. For example, the physical ability of women. Majority of jobs in the
armed forces are open equally to men and women, but there are some jobs to which women are not
physically able to pursue. There

  • 2. Technology Has Affected The World Around the globe each individual has a different definition of what a city is to them. Perhaps in more economically advanced countries, cities to the inhabitants maybe a mere central business district, a place to commute to for work, a place of entertainment and shopping. But what about those third world countries, is the city seen as a place, for income which can help support the family leading them to a better future and perhaps even immigration; for these citizens is the city a place for trade and markets or somewhere where you can only dream of going to. Where ever in the world, every individual will have a different definition and vision for the city and the surrounding areas. However the core purpose of all cities is to lift the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A city has a diverse range of people who come in and out of the area day to day. People come from near and far, whether it is a 5 minute walk, to a 10 hour flight. With this diversity also lies another diversity, which is the purpose of their visit and the area of expertise in which they hold. Maybe it is coming here to gain experience, or it could be coming for work, or plainly tourism and entertainment. Whatever the reason each day many different views of a city would be created, largely affected by these backgrounds of the individual. The career of Benjamin W. Richardson embraced a temperance crusade, compositions in biography, poetry, and play and novel writing, and substantial professional contributions on physiology, pharmacology, pathology, internal medicine, anesthesis, epidemiology, sanitation, public health, and dental hygiene. (Van Nostrand s Eclectic Engineering Magazine, 1876, p. 31 42) through this view it can be understood that Richardson with a vast range of experience in so many diverse fields can take many stances on planning, with many representations in one, with this view, it is truly an eye opener. Motown Records Influence On Society Essay Bailey Frigon Litz American Lit December 7, 2016 Motown Records Influence on society Through the creation of Motown records Berry Gordy changed the barrier between white and black americans and their music. Before Gordy come along to change the standards of american culture whites and blacks had different labels and music. Motown Records is the first record label to successfully market black artists to the white mainstream audience. (Dahl 12 15) Berry Gordy was the first African American to own a music label and have artists of different races on the same label. In the 1960s racial tension was a problem because of segregation and equal rights, For the most part, black artists were forced to record on white owned labels that regarded their work as novelties, one offs and curiosities. (Ross). When Gordy opened the record label it started to break down the tension between races. The reason the label opening broken down tention was because Gordy didn t care about the color of their skin or where they come from. Berry Gordy founded Motown records in 1959. Before that Gordy grew up in Detroit Michigan and was the seventh of eight children. He was not the first businessperson in the family; his father as a plastering contractor, his mother as an insurance agent.when Gordy was young he was interested in music, and his song Berry s Boogie won a talent contest. • 4. Designing A 3d Design Of 3d Printing 3d printing is the process of three dimensional solid objects from a computer file. The following information is about 3D printing and the processes that it takes to 3D print. There are many pro and cons to 3D printing that I will list below. In this paper I will also talk about what equipment it will take to make a 3D print, But first we will talk about the steps to make a 3D design. There are eight steps to print a 3D design. The first step is to start with making a virtual design of an object you want to create. The file that you create the image from is called a (CAD) or Computer Aided Design file. This software may provide some hints to the structural integrity you can expect in the finished product. It will also help you with specific data about certain materials to create virtual simulations of how the project will behave under certain conditions. The second step is called Conversion to STL. You will have to convert the CAD drawing, to the STL format. STL is an acronym for standard tessellation language. Which is a file format developed for 3D Systems in 1987 for use by its stereolithography apparatus (SLA) machines. Most 3D printers use STL files in addition to some proprietary file types such as, ZPR by Z corporation. Some of the types of printers include, Sterolithography or (SLA), Digital Light Processing (DLP), Fused deposition modeling (FDM), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Selective laser melting (SLM), Electronic Beam Melting (EBM), and Lamainatied ... • 6. Forgiving My Father Lucille Clifton The death of a parent is never an easy thing to go through it is heartbreaking and overwhelming, but it is a different story when parent and child aren t on the best of terms or possibly never really got to know each other. As a result of the parent passing it can cause the child to be haunted by the past always hoping their relationship could change. Once the parentpasses it is impossible to reconcile any issues. The only option is to learn to forgive or forget any wrong doings and move on with life. Poets Lucille Clifton and Sylvia Plath both have poems that address this in very powerful and beautifully written ways. Both of their poems depict a speaker process of gaining freedom from their fathers after they have passed. Clifton s poem forgiving my father is about a speaker that has been tormented by the death of her father, not because he died, but because of the way he lived his life. He was unable to provide for his family, and she hated him for this. His inability to provide may have led her mother to work herself into an early grave, which only adds to her anger with her father. She spent her life hating him, but in the end, she realizes that he will never be able to make up for being financially unstable. She must forgive him and carry on with her life. Plath s poem Daddy isn t about forgiving a father like Clifton s. It s about trying to forget about the anger of losing a father early on in life. In Plath s poem, the speaker s father died when she was young. The loss of her father made her develop a hatred for him because she never had a chance to know him. Her anger towards him was so extreme that she turned him into a monstrous being. Even with all her anger, all she really wanted was to please him she went as far as to make a model out of him and married a man just like him. When her marriage failed she realized she must kill them both and move on with her life without the pain and anger of losing her father at a young age. At the start of each poem the speaker s show signs of being haunted by their father s memory and are tormented after their passings. In Clifton s poem, she states all week you have stood in my dreams/ like a ghost, asking for more time (3 4). In His line the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although the company has had increasing sales for the past several years, Valley Winery has its fair share of problems that have Waller worried. He is very aware of the competitiveness within the wine industry and is concerned that Valley Winery will not be able to continue consistently increasing their sales. Turnover rate is the number one issue at Valley Winery. Every problem the company has bleeds into the turnover rate. The company s turnover rate is currently at almost 100 percent a year; this is a huge issue that Waller must address. The existing sales rep employment average... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With so much responsibility given to one person, effectiveness becomes a concern. The person in charge of hiring judges candidates based on youth and physical characteristics, rather than legitimate credentials. There is no consistency or checks and balances within the hiring process. Essentially, a single person is making all of the hiring decisions without any guidelines from upper management. Hiring sales reps based on qualifications would correlate with a reduction in the turnover rate. The fourth and final issue is the quotas set for the sales reps. Unattainable quotas are the issue behind the turnover rate and the aggressive sales attitudes. Right now, each sales rep is required to meet monthly display quotas for different lines of products. It is nearly impossible for the reps to meet their quotas, which leads to exaggerating numbers and tampering with competitors products. Sales reps are discouraged by unrealistic quotas and overwhelming workloads; a combination that leads to low employee morale and high turnover. In order to solve his laundry list of issues, Pat Waller must do some serious restructuring, beginning with the hiring process. Waller needs to begin recruit top performers from competing firms. Because the wine industry is incredibly competitive, this will help the Valley Winery stay on top. Also, the interview process needs to be more thorough and realistic. ... Julia Alvarez In the story Antojos by Julia Alvarez, the main character, a wealthy Dominican woman named Yolanda, travels to the Dominican Republic in order to search for her cultural and personal identity. Her difficulty interacting and relating to her old family members before she immigrated to America reflects the emotional hardship of immigration. The setting of this story is crucial to the plot of the story because it changes frequently to distinguish social class and amount of wealth, as well as shifting perspectives. Yolanda, after having been away for so many years, cannot express herself fluently in Spanish anymore, so it is very hard to communicate with her family in the same as she used to, highlighting another hardship of immigration. Her initial distrust of men we see near the middle of the reading reflects her fears of the Dominican Republic after five years of being away. This is very important to the arc of the story and simply to her character development as a whole because though she should be at home in her home country, she feels like a foreigner and is more comfortable being treated as such when the men confront her at her car and asked if she spoke Spanish. Yolanda also consistently predicts the wrong reaction from people she meets in the Dominican Republic. She expects the two men with machetes to kill her and steal her things, when in fact they were actually trying to help her. They ended up changing the tire on her car and walking away. She also expects the security guard at the mansion to respect the young boy, Jose, she sends for help. Instead, the security guard punishes and beats the boy for lying, because he did not believe a Dominican woman would be by herself alone in the night with an expensive car. This shows very well ... Places like South Asia and the Middle East were able to see the need for self government away from foreign control. This sparked a number of nationalist movements during the 1920 s and 1930 s. The Middle East had to Westernize to rid foreign control while India had to be united under non violence and Hindu values. Before WW1, the Middle East was dominated by outside powers. Egypt was under British control and Persia was divided in to Russian and British spheres of influence. The Egyptian nationalist elites decided to form a Wafd (meaning delegation in Arabic) party under the leader Sa d Zaghlul that rid the British in 1936 from the Suez Canal. However, they did very little to alleviate the misery of the majority. Rather, Egyptian politicians held office just to increase their own family fortune and had no time for land reforms and public works projects that the peasantry desperately needed. Thus, the Egytian revolution led to backwardness. The peasantry of India similarly suffered during WW1. India was controlled by the British who pushed the peasantry for cash crops such as cotton (muslin), jute, and indigo. India s budget was used for the expenses of the British army and the salaries /pensions of British administrators. Many Indians died on the battlefield for a conflict that had little to do with them. War led to inflation which affected all parts of society. Peasants were angered about set prices on market goods despite the rising cost. The pristine desk, the neat little rows of plush chairs, the potted plants stationed at every corner... they all gave the chapel an air of quiet efficiency. However, I could not help but feel as if their only purpose was to distract from the room s atmosphere. The emotions of those who had once trod upon the chapel s grounds were still etched into the walls, and no amount of scrubbing could erase them. The receptionist glanced up as we approached. Are you here for Bich Lai s funeral? My father gave a gruff nod, while my mother only clutched my sister s arm. All right, that ll be the room right in the center, she chirped. You can t miss it. My sister thanked her before leading us towards the centermost room. The sound of heavy rain followed in our wake. • 16. Warren Bennett Believes That The Old Waiter Is A Materialist Warren Bennett believes that the Older Waiter is a materialist. I agree that the Old Waiter is a materialist and his views of the world as having nothing. According to Bennett s claim that the Old waiter is a Materialist, the older waiter is unable to master such faith or confidence, and beyond material there is nothing (Bennett 75). The definition reads the emphasis on material objects, comforts, and considerations, with a disinterest in or rejection of spiritual, intellectual or cultural values (dictionary.com). But, I think that the Old Waiter feels this ways because he has nothing in his life I have never had confidence and I am not young. (Hemmingway). Old Man is used as a conversation for the two waiters to contrast their views of the world. I agree with Bennett that the Old Man is used as a topic of discussion. The two waiters are able to discuss what they think of the old man. The old man and the young waiter both have nothingness in their lives. In comparison to the younger waiter who actually has a wife and wants to go home every night I m not lonely. I have a wife waiting in bed for me (Hemmingway). The Old man is out drinking because he has no wife and has nothing in his life. Later we see the reflective human condition in that the Older Waiter goes out drinking for himself, he relfects because he has nothing too. I agree with Bennett that the younger waiter is in a hurry, he actually has something, but unlike the two older men they prefer to stay out drinking to be away from the darkness of their homes. I think that the importance of this getting old people seem to lose their function. The young waiter is fresh and the life is waiting for him. In comparison to the old men who are now old and reflect on their lives. They wished they could have done something different or had a better life. It is important to have something and people around to be happy. It is easy to look at others and judge that they do not belong. • 17. Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is based on the biblical story of Joseph, who was born in Canaan, or ancient Israel. In the musical version, he is listed as the last of the sons of Jacob. His brothers are jealous of Joseph and when they were in the fields, they beat him up and sold him into slavery to a group of Ishmaelites. The Ishmaelites take Joseph to Egypt, where he first serves the house of Potiphar, one of the richest men in Egypt. He is accused of attacking Potiphar s Wife and sent to jail. After several years in Jail, Joseph is sent to interpret the dreams of the Pharaoh. There is a divide between those with money and those without. Wealth bought power and privilege, which allowed Potiphar to buy Joseph when he was sold into slavery. Wealth also allowed for individuals like Potiphar and the Pharaoh to put people in jail on a whim. The Narrators spoke of that ease about the Baker and Butler, Both in the doghouse for doing their thing (Joseph, 48). Joseph was innocent of the crimes he was accused of, but it didn t matter, because Potiphar s Wife accused him and she had the power over him. Political Environment The patriarchy in both Canaan and Egypt holds the key to power. Jacob was allowed to bestow powers, privileges, and gifts to those he wanted. He chose to give special treatment to Joseph because his mother was his favorite wife. In Egypt, Pharaoh held all the power. He would get what he wanted or else someone would pay a price. He had the power to pardon Joseph and release him from jail. When Joseph interprets the dreams correctly and comes up with a plan for the famine, he gains status in the ranks of Pharaoh s advisors. He can then use this power to both help and test his brothers when they suddenly arrive one day asking for food. In the world of the play, those with power ultimately find themselves being able to obtain a lot. Those without power are at the mercy of those with power. The 9 Belbin Team Roles are: Completer/Finisher, Chairman/Co ordinator, Monitor/Evaluator, Implementer, Resource Investigator, Plant, Shaper, Team worker, and Specialist. Belbin believed individuals have a preferred team role, alongside a secondary team role which would only show itself if the preferred team role was being played by another staff member or there was a gap in the team in which a role was not being played. Belbin suggested therefore, that the team role composition of a team may determine if it is successful or if it fails. Tuckman explained that all groups will pass through each stage of development before they can achieve maximum effectiveness, stating this process may be subconscious. • 21. Character Analysis Of Mae Holland In The Circle Mae Holland is an ambitious, intelligent young woman and the main character in Dave Eggers novel The Circle. Although her character is paramount to telling the novel s main story (detailing the prominence of the monopolistic, power hungry tech company known as The Circle ), she is hardly a protagonist, with her being ill informed at best at the book s beginning, and complicit in the Circles nefarious doings by the novel s conclusion. Mae is an exceptionally bland character who offers little interesting internal dialogue and who s only notable overarching character trait is her ever present insecurity and her need to please others. Arguably, it could be said that Mae truly is not the main character of The Circle at all; Rather The Circle company itself, or more precisely Mae s relationship with the The Circle (and by association its dystopian philosophies) are what take center stage. As a character, Mae is malleable; a clean slate waiting to take orders and eager to agree with her superiors, she yearns for attention from others, is figuratively trapped inside The Circle s elaborate campus, and acts as a mouthpiece for the The Circle s leaders; repeating whatever they want her to say. Due to the fact that Mae Holland possess these characteristics, she is comparable to a parrot. The same way a parrot enters its cage with a blank mind, devoid of any calls or phrases, Mae approaches her job at The Circle with an open mind, not influenced by any previous work experiences. When thinking of the occupation she previously held prior to working at The Circle, Mae expresses extreme discontent. Her final day at the public utility in her hometown had been only three weeks ago they d been stupefied when she gave notice but it already seemed impossible that she wasted so much of her life there. Good riddance, Mae thought, to that gulag and all it represented (pg 4). The passage above indicates that Mae loathed her previous job, considering it a waist of her life and likening it to a gulag . The background and experience Lewis and Clark already developed prior to the expedition would be very beneficial and help make the journey easier. A big part of history, the expedition was very significant and impacted American society in ways that no one will ever be able to understand. Shreeya Gad Ms. Courey AP English Language and Composition, Period 4 1 March 2016 Mandatory Donations of Dues There is no such thing as freedom of choice unless there is freedom to refuse, stated David Hume. The case Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association, which just recently began oral hearings the week of January 11th, centers on the questions of whether union dues are inherently political and if they are... whether employees who are not union members can be compelled to pay them (KQED News). Those in favor of the plaintiff, Rebecca Friedrichs, a teacher from Orange County, believe that employees who are not union members should not have to pay union dues because the CTA cannot require its nonmembers to pay for political causes, seeing as doing so compels them to identify with a public policy cause, a violation of their First Amendment rights. Those against the eradication of union dues for non union members believe the fees are necessary because the union has a legal duty to represent all teachers at the bargaining table, even those who are not part of the union; if nonmembers can be represented by the union without paying any fee, there would be a strong incentive to become a free rider and not join the union, leading to a weakened force at the negotiation table. Causes And Policies Of Financial Crises Causes and Policies in Financial Crises Financial Crises are well known phenomena in economics history; however, after the Great Financial Crisis of 2007 2009 the role that Central Banks play in order to prevent Financial Crises has been questioned. To begin with, it is important to understand that crises consist of highly complex macro financial linkages that reflect the interactions between the financial sector and the real economy (Claessens 2012). Additionally, it is important to highlight two different financial crises groups: Currency and sudden stop crisis, which have strictly quantitative definitions; and debt and banking crises that depend on qualitative and judgmental analysis (Claessens 2012). Nevertheless, the interconnectivity of the financial sector demonstrates that major crises are a blend of the different types; thus, the effects on real economy are larger (Laevene 2008). In consequence, governments and central banks have the responsibility to develop monetary and macro prudential policies to appropriately supervise and regulate the financial industry (Norgren 2010). However, central banks have failed to appropriately understand the main symptoms that precede financial crises: credit booms and asset booms (Bijapur 2015). In fact, it is essential to comprehend these symptoms in order to develop policies that strengthen the fragility of the financial industry; hence, upholding stable growth and inflation. • 37. The Role Of Faith In The Screwtape Letters By C. S. Lewis In the novel The Screwtape Letters, C. S. Lewis depicts how Christians have strong reason and faith. These letters are used to contradict the bible as if god is satin and satin is god. Within the letters, the patient is supposed to be a Christian man that is being used in an experiment for the dark side. However, the patient resisted the temptations that the devil threw at him, and is able to beat the devil by having faith. This is a strong point that the narrator illustrates, because Screwtape is considered like a devil who is trying to influence his incompetent nephew, Wormwood. Screwtape is very wise, very subtle and very experienced, his nephew is a less than stellar student when it comes to swaying a person towards a hellish direction.... This sin is cleverly masked by the small portions of food that are involved. In addition, when the patient says, for example, All I want is a cup of tea... and the teeniest bit of really crispy toast, the sin of greed is horrible and most of the time unnoticeable when committed, because it is used to obtain exactly what one wants at any means necessary (Screwtape 88). Also, being picky is a way of hassling to others as it asks them to go out of their way in order to make something perfect. Moreover, it could jeopardize friendships because perfection can never be attained, and the disappointment of not getting their way could result in ill tempers toward others. Furthermore, while gluttony of delicacy may be different than the sin of gluttony, of excess, it produces querulousness, impatience, uncharitableness, and self concern, counteracting the attempt to avoid sin in the first place (Screwtape ch17). • 38. Impacts of Climate Change on Australia Alps’ Ski Industry The changing nature of snow cover as a result of alpine climate change is a modern phenomenon that climate scientists are beginning to understand. Declining snow depth and duration have serious implications for Australia s ski industry, in particular the longevity of the industry. This essay discusses the impacts of alpine climate change on snowcover, adaption strategies to sustain the industry s economy as well as the unsustainable nature of snowmaking as a long term solution. Limitations on water and energy resource make snowmaking problematic as a substitute for natural snow. The essay highlights the unsustainability of snowmaking as a short term solution, and raises concerns of the longevity of the ski industry. Currently, the Australian ski industry comprises of ten operational ski resorts (Figure 1) with 0.15% of the continent (Green and Pickering 2009, p. 271) regularly receiving snow due to the low attitude of mountains. Franz Kafka analyzed psychological human behavior beyond the fictional story. The reader experiences a deeper meaning of suppressed desires which are stored in our subconscious mind. Protagonist Gregor gets transformed into a monstrous bug seems fantasy story at first glance, but if you dive deep into the Metamorphosis , it reveals the dilemma of human s subconscious mind as suppression of desires. The equation of human relationship changed, people show up their frustration, and ready to give away nonfunctional existence. Thus, revealing facts of human nature creates a bitter taste in the life. The way equation of human relationship changes due to selfish nature, its classic example is Samsa family. The transformation into a bug is a symbol of subconsciously suppressed desires. As long Gregor was earning good money and providing quite a decent life to his family the harmony between Gregor and his family was exemplary. By doing so, Gregor has given up or suppressed his many desires. Before the transformation into the bug Kafka talks, When Gregor Samsa woke up one morning from unsettling dreams, he found himself changed in his bed into a monstrous vermin ( pg. 3, I) . • 41. How Wars Always Have Disastrous Effects On Civilians Wars always have disastrous effects on civilians, in particular on children who are growing up in a world of violence and are surrounded by atrocities and deaths. It can be even more traumatic when children find themselves taking an active part in conflicts. Indeed in numerous conflicts, combatants aged under eighteen, and therefore considered as child soldiers , are involved. Although international law expressly prohibit the recruitment and use of youths aged under fifteen, about 300,000 child soldiers are currently taking part in hostilities, and many do not have the legal age to do so. Some are enrolled by force, but many volunteer for various reasons. Some claim that children should not have anything to do with political issues and wars and thus should not be prosecuted, while others claim that all children are not purely victims and may be partly responsible for their acts. This essay argues that because they are children, child soldiers cannot be prosecuted along with adults, and should rather benefit of support programmes in order to enable their reintegration into the civilian society. However this reintegration may takes years and cannot be successful until it is sure that children are no longer a threat for the society or for themselves, and it may require that children spend time in detention centers for minors until they are no longer a danger. The first part will focus on the different situations that can lead children to become soldiers. I will then explain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

New legislation should be passed to provide stricter punishments to those who choose to sexually assault people. A well known case of sexual assault occurred at Stanford College where Brock Turner only received a six month sentence for sexually assaulting a female student there. Turner then only served three out of six months of his sentence (Gagnon and Grinberg). Sexual assault and harassment is a topic that people must pay attention too. However, in a clinical setting, making diagnoses based on clinical data is only a subset of the spectrum in which DSS can be used in a clinical setting. Purpose/Goal The main purpose of modern CDSS is to assist clinicians at the point of care. This means that a clinician would interact with a CDSS to help determine diagnosis, analysis, etc. of patient data. Previous theories of CDSS were to use the CDSS to literally make decisions for the clinician. The clinician would input the information and wait for the CDSS to output the right choice and the clinician would simply act on that output. The new methodology of using CDSS to assist forces the clinician to interact with the CDSS utilizing both the clinician s knowledge and the CDSS to make a better analysis of the patients data than either human or CDSS could make on their own. Typically the CDSS would make suggestions of outputs or a set of outputs for the clinician to look through and the clinician officially picks useful information and removes erroneous CDSS suggestions. President Trump and the United States appeared to back Saudi Arabia, while Iran and Turkey, two regional powers, backed Qatar. The blockade of Qatar is throwing the long held status quo of the region into disarray. All of the Arab Gulf states are allies of the United States and currently Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Bahrain are imposing the blockade on Qatar, with Kuwait staying neutral. The involvement of the United States, Turkey and Iran seems to indicate that this conflict was more than just a petty dispute between the gulf states. In this unipolar world, it would make sense that once a dominant power chooses a side, a conflict such as this one would soon meet its conclusion. However, even with the United States involvement, the Qatar blockade has been in effect for five months and has no end in sight. (3) Some filesystems will be used on local data storage devices, whereas others provide access over a network, through a network protocol such as NFS. The word filesystem can be used to refer to a partition or disk that is used to store files or as part of the description of the type of filesystem in use. For example, one could say this is an extended filesystem in reference to the type of filesystem in use, or I have three filesystems meaning that one has three partitions on which one can store files. The debate on whether women should play a role in combat has been a long standing debate that has not yet reached a consensus. According to Daniel Davis in his article The Truth About Women in Ground Combat Roles President Obama commended the December 3 decision by Secretary of Defense Ash Carter to open all combat jobs to women. Many arguments have been raised in defense of military policy that bans women from combat roles. According to Megan Mackenzie in Let Women Fight nearly 214,098 women serve in the U.S. military, representing 14.6 percent of total service members. The main question or concern is not whether women are capable of conducting combat operations, but instead is can women endure the physical and physiological rigors of sustained combat operations. Many people who are against the involvement of women on the front line make the argument that with women entering combat the standards of the military will be lowered. Women have already proven their selves to be able to do just about as much as men can in a combat role. However, there are quite a few concerns when it comes to women serving in combat.
