changed the barrier between white and black americans and their music. Before Gordy come along
to change the standards of american culture whites and blacks had different labels and music.
Motown Records is the first record label to successfully market black artists to the white
mainstream audience. (Dahl 12 15) Berry Gordy was the first African American to own a music
label and have artists of different races on the same label. In the 1960s racial tension was a
problem because of segregation and equal rights, For the most part, black artists were forced to
record on white owned labels that regarded their work as novelties, one offs and curiosities.

the anger of losing a father early on in life. In Plath s poem, the speaker s father died when she
was young. The loss of her father made her develop a hatred for him because she never had a
chance to know him. Her anger towards him was so extreme that she turned him into a
monstrous being. Even with all her anger, all she really wanted was to please him she went as
far as to make a model out of him and married a man just like him. When her marriage failed she

Safety Survey, conducted by the Crimes against Children Research Center at the University of
New Hampshire, found that eight percent of the youth surveyed had experienced and reported
some form of harassment. An old familiar saying is that Sticks and Stones may break my bones,
but words will never hurt me , which is a lie! Simple bullying is defined as repeated verbal,
physical, and social behaviors that are hurtful to any individual or group of persons. It can include
humiliation, domination, intimidation and all forms of harassment not limited to: race, gender,

long term effects on the victims. Bully victims are between 2 to 9 times more likely to consider

Rebecca Friedrichs, a teacher from Orange County, believe that employees who are not union
members should not have to pay union dues because the CTA cannot require its nonmembers to
pay for political causes, seeing as doing so compels them to identify with a public policy cause, a
violation of their First Amendment rights. Those against the eradication of union dues for non
union members believe the fees are necessary because the union has a legal duty to represent all
teachers at the bargaining table, even those who are not part of the union; if nonmembers can be

claim that children should not have anything to do with political issues and wars and thus should

victims to go for help. Sexual assault and harassment is a topic that has been left in the dark for
far too long and there needs to be more prominent action and legislation to help deter these
