The Core Components Of The Social Exchange Theory
Social Exchange Theory is grounded in the idea that people assess their relationships from an
economic perspective when pertaining to costs and rewards that are identified amongst different
relational partners. It is within this paper that we discuss the core components that make up the theory,
the possible advantages and disadvantages of its use, as well as touch base on a real world
communication example the Social Exchange Theory can be associated with.
There are multiple core components that have been identified and further constructed in which make
up the Social Exchange Theory. West and Turner (2014) further explain that costs are the factors that
contribute to the negative value we place on relationships while rewards are rather the positive values.
Additionally, West and Turner proceed with the idea that we evaluate all types of relationships by
using the following equation:
Worth = Rewards Costs
When rewards are greater than the costs, or the final amount is a positive number, it is considered to
be a positive relationship, whereas a negative number would indicate the relationship to be negative.
The Social Exchange Theory then acknowledges the worth of these relationships and the outcomes
that will be endured, or whether or not relationships will hold stable or instead be terminated. It is the
idea that individuals enter into and maintain relationships as long as it is satisfying both person s self
interest. Social Exchange Theory is based on the idea that

The Security Threats And Security Architecture Design
ABSTRACT
Among civilian communication systems, vehicular communications emerge as one of the most
convincing effort made to enhance safety and improve the efficiency of transportation systems, to
meet ever increasing traffic demands. Security is one of the critical factors that need to be addressed
towards the deployment of vehicular communication systems. The efficiency of the transportation
systems, as well as the physical safety of vehicles, drivers, and passengers depend on the security
factor. Vehicular communications has to pass through the analysis of potential security threats and the
design of a robust security architecture able to cope with these threats. In this paper we deal with the
security threats and security architecture design.
INTRODUCTION:
Vehicular communications (VC) will play a vital role in enabling safer, smarter and greener
transportation, with envisioned applications providing, for example, warnings on environmental
hazards (e.g., ice on the pavement), traffic and road conditions (e.g., emergency braking, congestion,
or construction sites), and local (e.g., tourist) information.
To empower such applications, vehicles and road side infrastructure units (RSUs), namely network
nodes, will be furnished with on board processing and wireless communication modules, to
communicate with each other over single or multiple hops. Then, communication between vehicle to
vehicle (V2V) and vehicle to infrastructure (V2I) (bi directional) will be possible directly

Mark Cuban and Sec
Mark Cuban was offered that the Web search engine named Mamma.com was going to offer $16.6
million worth of new shares to private institution and other qualified investors. The information about
PIPEs is material since it s not yet publicly announced and that info could affect the shareholders
behaviors. 1. Why didn t the SEC accuse Mark Cuban of traditional illegal insider trading, considering
he was the largest, individual shareholder of Mamma.com?
Even though the information about PIPEs was material inside information, Mark Cuban was not
accused as traditional insider information. To qualify as traditional insider trading, there must involve
true insiders buying or selling the company s stock based on material inside information. ... Show

SEC alleged that Mark Cuban violated misappropriate insider trading. To be qualified as
misappropriate insider trading, an individual wrongfully obtains (misappropriates) inside information
and trades on it for her or his personal benefit. In this case, Cuban actually traded his shares based on
the material inside information he was told and saved him $750,000 in losses. Wrongful
misappropriation means violation of a fiduciary duty.
The Court found that Cuban had not misappropriated any material non public information because he
had not violated a legal duty to refrain from trading. Cuban had not promised that he would not trade
after learning about a PIPE offering. The judge also said that the SEC failed to show that Cuban
undertook a legal duty to not use the information he learned from those two phone calls with
Mamma.com representatives. Mark Cuban did not have any fiduciary duty to not act upon the
information. The Mamma.com CEO asked Cuban to keep their conversation confidential. However,
that didn t prove that Cuban had a legal duty to Mamma.com that would prohibit him from selling his
shares based on what he was told. He just promised to not disclose the information to the others, not
promised to not act upon what someone told him.
Besides, there was no evidence that he actually agreed that day to keep anything confidential. He
never agreed on the phone that he would

ABSTRACT Glycine betaine is a compatible organic metabolite which is synthesized and
accumulated in pulses, cereals, grasses and many microbes in response to different types of stress. It
has been shown to exhibit enhanced tolerance of plants to salt stress. In this investigation we
examined the effects of salt stress and synthesis of glycine betaine on leaf protease activity in Lucerne
plants. Sodium chloride stress was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The present work, therefore, was conducted to evaluate the role of glycine betaine in protecting the
proteins inleucerne plants through protease enzyme activity from being damaged by salt stress. On the
basis of our results we discuss the response of leucerne plants to salt stress and glycine betaine.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
Purification of Protease The leucerne plant leaves are procured from 70 days old plants and allowed to
stand for two days in a humidity controlled dark growth chamber at 340C. The leaves were
homogenized with 0.1M phosphate buffer (pH 7.0) containing 0.4M sucrose and 0.05M sodium
ascorbate in a waring blender. Filtered homogenate was (I in Table 1) was squeezed through a gauze
and centrifuged at 2000 rpm for 20 mins. The supernatant (II in Table 1) was adjusted to pH 5.0 by the
addition of 1N acetic acid and allowed to stand overnight. The precipitate was removed by
centrifugation and the supernatant (III in Table 1) was subjected to ammonium sulphate fractionation
between 0.25 and 0.9 saturation. The ammonium sulphate precipitate was suspended in 0.0025M Mc
llvain buffer (pH 5.5) containing 2.5 × 10 3 M sodium ascorbate and dialyzed against the same buffer
at 40C for 20 hrs. The dialysate (IV in Table 1) was centrifuged and the supernatant was fractionated
by the addition of ethanol at 50C. A fraction precipitating between 20 and 60% ethanol was collected
and dialyzed in the same way.

Orthodontics Personal Statement
I have always been amazed by the joy of discovering. The stimulating part of the challenge, which
leads to the discovery, seems to be fascinating to my mind. I was led into the field of radiology for the
same reason. It would satisfy the desire for putting the pieces of the puzzle together and coming up
with an explanation or diagnosis, which would describe the abnormality.
When I started my job at University of Louisville, I had the chance to get a lot of interaction with
other departments as well as the department of orthodontics. I also got the chance to play with the
cutting edge technology of 3D printing, facial scanners and treatment planning softwares such as
dolphin.

Music And The Negative Effects Of Heavy Metal Music
Heavy metal music is often criticized for being a negative influence due to the lyrical content and
aesthetics of the genre. For those unfamiliar with heavy metal, it is easy to make this correlation
because of the darker and often taboo subject matter present throughout the music. With a little more
analysis, however, it can be discovered that these same aspects thought to be negative actually bring
forth positive results among metal listeners. What is found in heavy metal music is actually a display
of emotions and energy that often have a purging effect which helps listeners of metal cope with the
constantly changing world around them. Heavy metal is used as a tool for expressing emotion in a
nonviolent way, rather than through physical destruction sought by some other genres.
Heavy metal is a lot like an experiment to the people who do not understand it or those who dislike it.
They look at it as a disgrace, dissect it, run tests on it, and analyze the results in order to get
ammunition to put it down.
Researchers from the University of Queensland in Australia have found that when volunteers were
exposed to extreme music genres including heavy metal, emo, hardcore, punk, and screamo, they
actually experienced a range of positive feelings, such as calmness, happiness or being inspired. The
study, conducted by honours student Leah Sharman and psychologist Genevieve Dingle and published
in the June 26, 2015 edition of Science Alert by writer Peter Dockrill , took 39

Louisa May Alcott Transcendentalism
Louisa May Alcott was born in 1832 in Germantown, Pennsylvania where she was taught by her
father who was a transcendentalist philosopher. She studied informally with other authors such as
Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Theodore Parker. She has been publishing since
1851 poems, short stories, thrillers and juvenile tales. Her most popular novel was Little Women
published in 1868. From what I read in a biography, she transformed her father s story Fruitland to
make it look like the woman was the hero. It says in the article that she: makes her own creation out of
his Fruitland s story, feminizes it, making the mother the hero and the father the fool . I feel like

Mrs. Hope said that with their new beliefs it created tension between them, they turned away from the
family. For the family it was the Utopia, but the others outside were not ready to be in such place as
they say: The world was not ready for Utopia yet, and those who attempted to found it only got
laughed at for their pains. . Utopia is an ideal place or a visionary system of political or social
perfection. With the transcendental movement everyone has to follow a routine. They would all wake
up at the same time every day, take baths, eat at the same time, have meaningful conversations, get
back to work and finish work the evening came. Within the community there are beliefs so it is not
just one person thinking in a different way, but a group of people. It is a transcendental movement
because they choose to live and believe in different things than the rest of the world, but within the
community they all have to think the same way, someone cannot be self reliant on his own. From what
I understand, the children were allowed to do what they wanted, and members in the community were
allowed to express their feeling freely, in other community this not accepted if it is not intellectual or
spiritual thinking. People should not express their feelings freely and should speak in a very kind way,

Analysis Of Speak By Laurie Anderson
The book Speak by Laurie Anderson is a book about how Melinda Sordino overcomes the troubles in
her life, and how she learned to speak up for herself. The author uses a lot of archetypes and allusions
throughout the book to add a fuller description to the events Melinda had gone through, which will
help the readers to better understand what Anderson is trying to tell.
When Melinda started her first day of high school, she suffered from peer pressure with her best friend
who had just left her, and everyone had hated her because she ruined a party during summer break by
calling the police. Melinda knew that no one knew the truth, but she was afraid to speak out about it.
Laurie Anderson used the allusion of Rudolph, the red nosed reindeer ... Show more content on

Moreover, this drawing of the tree is representative of the mind growth of Melinda. For instance, the
drawing was poorly drawn at the beginning of the book, Melinda s pressure and her life were
weighing her down. As the drawing got better throughout the school year, Melinda s strength and
mindset also began to get better as well. If the tree meant to shelter , then Melinda sure developed a
very nice shelter for herself in the end. Laurie Anderson also used allusions while describing Melinda
s trauma. IT sees me. IT smiles and winks. Good thing my lips are stitched together or I d throw up.
(Anderson 96). The book Maya Angelou is written by a girl who was once raped. The experience is
similar between Melinda and Angelou. The audience may not fully understand what Melinda was
thinking during that time, but the book, Maya Angelou, fully describes the life of a raped girl which
gave us a fuller understanding of the situation that Melinda was dealing with. She also used the
archetype of darkness, when Melinda was raped, it was night time. Darkness represents Chaos,
emblem of bad judgment and destruction, for instance, Melinda was raped in the darkness. This word
should give the readers a clear foreshadowing of what will happen next. The author also used the
archetype of coldness throughout the story. For instance, at

The Supreme Court
The Supreme Court is responsible for making some of the most important cases that set the tone for
society, as it continually ensures that the Constitution remains the law of the land. Many landmark
decisions have been made by the court that have impacted society in some of the most significant
ways; some of these cases include Marbury v. Madison (1803), Brown v. Board of Education (1954),
Miranda v. Arizona (1966), and Roe v. Wade (1973). Key decisions that are being made don t simply
impact the plaintiffs and defendants; rather they continually impact the public and the present and
future of these issues that have been decided, setting the tone for the rest of us. These important
decisions that have and are being made continue to cause much controversy as not all will be agreed
on by the public or even other political figures/branches for that matter. And with the way that the
court is organized, specifically with lifetime tenure, it can easily make the decisions look to be
immune from public opinion. Yet, at this same time, the court must look at how society operates as
well as its norms and values, which are impacted by these decisions. And from that aspect, it doesn t
seem that public preference is completely thrown out the window; it takes the ability of the public to
identify these concerns/issues that need to be addressed, as is the case when it comes to public policy
making.
The nine justices of the Supreme Court make the most important decisions impacting the U.S.

Juvenile Court Systems And The Adult Court System
Through the court systems in the United States there is a major distribution of probation between the
juvenile court system and the adult court system. More than 70,000 juveniles were incarcerated in
youth prisons or detention in 2010. Case studies show that more than 500,000 juveniles are taken to
confinement centers every year. Not including the juveniles who by pass the detention center and
make their way into the adult court system where they are later tried. Juveniles stand out of any prison
that they may be asserted to because most acts are created by those younger than the age of 18 those
juveniles are allowed to be trialed under the administration of the juvenile court until age 21. Prison is
not a place most juveniles while be able to with stand. So the juvenile judges process a variety of
different legal options to incorporate both the safety needs of the juvenile while also dealing with the
well being of the community and the rehabilitant needs of the juvenile. In some cases, the state will
even pay jails to not allow juveniles to be accepted into their facilities. Juveniles are adequately still
labeled as children no matter how grown they may think of themselves as. The mind of a person does
not mature appropriately until that person reaches their premature twenties. An Arkansas study
documented that juveniles who were formerly imprisoned for a crime were about 15 time more likely
to constrain another crime. Probation has been a more efficient route when dealing

Participatory Culture Through The Media
Old media like broadcasting, print, and film created a consumer culture in the public. Participants
would consume the media they could find, and that was the extent of their engagement with a piece of
media. But during the digital age, participatory culture has exploded. Participatory culture is a concept
coined by Henry Jenkins where consumers take part in both the consumption and the production of
media. The advent of computers facilitates a low barrier of entry for creation of digital media and its
propagation. With the availability of personal computers and consumer level software to manipulate
media as well as the popularity of the internet to spread content, fans have become more engaged with
the media they consume. In turn, participants can create forms of that media that comment and expand
upon the original content. Participants who used to only consume media now have the avenues to
become producers of media. In this essay, I will explore participatory culture through the lense of Lev
Manovich s Five Principles of New Media: Numerical Representation, Modularity, Automation,
Variability, and Transcoding.
The first of Manovich s principles is Numerical Representation. A piece of new media can be
represented by discrete numbers. For example, an image file is a collection of numbers describing the
color of each pixel in the image. A game is a piece of software compiled to 1 s and 0 s that respond
and react to input from the user. Anything in digital form is at its based

Effectiveness Of Britain s Trade Policy On Economic Recovery
The inter war period saw a multitude of different trade policies being used throughout the world.
Britain s was one of protectionism, but in their situation their policies seemed to be effective and
played a significant role in the quick economic recovery Britain experienced during the 1930s. To
explain my evaluation of the effectiveness of Britain s trade policy on their economic recovery in the
1930s, the differing views on the effect of the General Tariff will be examined, taking into account
effective protection rates, nominal tariffs, and import substitutions. Additionally, the role trade
regionalization played and the legacies that the trade policies left will be inspected. The most debated
aspect of the effectiveness of their, now more protectionist, trade policies were the tariffs imposed by
Britain. In Forrest Capie s The British Tariff and Industrial Protection in the 1930 s, he argues that the
tariffs were a hindrance to the economic recovery. His conclusion is drawn from calculations on the
effective protection rates on the tariffs from the General Tariff in 1932; where he found that the iron
and steel industries effective protection rates were in the bottom 5% and construction was
experiencing negative rates. This is important to him because these were industries that are supposed
to have played a role in the recovery of the British economy in the 1930s, causing Capie to believe
that if there were no tariffs Britain s economic recovery would have been

The Cultural Differences Of Culture In Israel, Israel And...
The word culture derives from a French term, which in turn derives from the Latin colere, which
means to tend to the earth and grow, or cultivation and nurture. (Zimmerman 1) This can also lead to
one concluding that culture changes as civilization is changed and advancements occur. I am culturally
Arab. Specifically from around Jerusalem and many other farmer civilations. The cuisine, historical
significance of the area, and it s religions are some of the most distinct differences the region has
culturally.
One sizable distinction for people from Palestine/Israel is their diet compared to surrounding areas.
The area surrounding them is mainly desert while they live in a fertile area between the Jordan river
and Mediterranean Ocean. This resulted in the area becoming less nomadic and more people settled to
farm. Olives, citrus fruits, dates, chickpeas, almonds, and plums are some of the many varieties of
produce grown in the region. (Butterfield, et al: 1) This is why the region s food culture is different
from its neighbors. From this region, hummus, olive oil, bread, dates, and nuts are staples and are
often supplemented by whatever produce are in season. Growing up and eating these foods since I was
I child, what people viewed as exotic foods in many places of the world was a normal commodity for
me. Things like dried apricot puree and dates for snack at school and a thyme mixture named Zatar
with olive oil and bread for lunch confused students who were so used to

Quantitative Article Summary
In this article, the researchers used the quantitative method by distributing a structural clinical
interview and life events checklist to one hundred and fifty nine women who had dealt with assault
trauma in their lifetime. With this in mind, the researchers were able to gather statistics from the data
these women provided for them.
Moreover, the quantitative method is used by researches who want to discover statistics and facts by
analyzing data in a numerical way. Unlike this article, the qualitative method is used by researches
who want to gather data through observations and interviews based on what the participants say or do.
The qualitative method seeks to explore and collect opinions and motivations on the research topic
instead of collecting numerical data.

Furthermore, the article suggests that there needs be continued research over a long period of time to
clarify the factors that could affect resilience in women exposed to PTE s. After that research is

In the group collaboration, we did have a discussion about qualitative vs. quantitative research and
how the article could be difficult in some sections to asses which method the researches performed.
Other than that, hypothetically, an opposing view could come up from someone questioning the results
based on how data was accumulated since the study could not determine how supportive relationships
could affect the outcome of the diagnosis of each woman.
This research was performed to help identify psychological factors that affect the outcome of women
who are exposed to assault related PTE s. In return, those findings could enhance clinical

When we think of cardio vascular diseases, we usually always associate them with the loss of a family
member or friend. Almost everyone knows of someone who is affected by these tragic diseases. Since
the ancient times, there have been clues left showing possible cardio vascular diseases within the
Egyptian families. The earliest proof of a cardio vascular disease is of a 3,500 year old Egyptian
mummy with a serious case of arthrosclerosis, which was identified via modern CT scan. During the
next few centuries little is known about cardio vascular diseases and the death rate subsequently is

Premature atrial contractions are early additional beats that start in the atria and are usually innocuous
and usually don t require medical attention. Premature ventricular contractions are one of the most
prevailing arrhythmia where the heart will skip a beat due to stress, caffeine overindulgence, or
excessive exercise. Some people who have frequent contractions should seek medical attention, but if
it is irregular it is usually harmless. Atrial fibrillation is quite frequent which causes the atria to
contract out of rhythm. Atrial flutter is a more organized version of atrial fibrillation where it s caused
by one or many rapid circuits in the atria. Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia originates above
the ventricle and is known as a rapid heart rate. Accessory pathway tachycardias are a form of rapid
heart rate that is due to extra passageway between the ventricles and atria. AV nodal reentrant
tachycardia is another form of rapid heart rate that is caused through more than one passageway.
These can both be treated with special therapy or medication. Ventricular tachycardia is a hasty
heartbeat that begins in the ventricle section of the heart. This hasty beat prevents the heart from
attaining the right amount of blood to fill up, thus causing the body to receive much less blood than
usual. Ventricular fibrillations are inconsistent impulses from the ventricles

for this trip I d like to rely on a hire car and aeroplanes, it s more accessible and would become

Hexadecimal Company
The Hexadecimal Company Case Analysis pg, 167
I. Problems A. Macro The Hexadecimal Company in recent years was forced to change their product
market due to lower labor costs by companies in competition. With this change of product came rapid
growth and systemic problems within the company. The President, John, Zoltan, decided to created an
Organizational Development (OD) group to help address change and managerial style within the
company. However, this OD group was not accepted well within the organization and many felt as
though this group was a waste of time, energy and resources. Employees did not want to participate in
the training although forced to attend. In the beginning of the group s development, the ... Show more

There was true evidence that the OD group was truly diverse in individuality and openness simply
characterized by the groups dress habits. Perhaps these traits would have been more easily disguisable
if the group was forced to a dress code while at work. Displaying ones attire could show an impression
of laziness, sloppiness, or not caring about what the is there to achieve, perhaps the division of the
groups beliefs stems from this complacent dress code leading the group to misunderstandings.

Zoltan s seems to show favoritism towards members of the OD group. The decision to place the OD
program under the human resources department
III. Systems affected The sociotechnical system and managerial subsystem are affected due to the
changes occurring within the company. An example of these changes is the hiring of all the individuals
within the new OD group. The technical subsystem has been affected by the recent introduction of
new products within the company due to competitive companies. The structural subsystem has been
affected since the OD group started training company employees on management styles. The
psychosocial subsystem was affected when the employees had dislike towards the OD group and the
training that had been developed. Also, the OD group

Medieval Italy Violence
The Western Roman Empire was plagued with violence and warfare, both before Medieval Italy, and
well after. Medieval Italy was created through warfare, and although these violence outbreaks are
most prominently displayed by wars and battles, much of the violence occurred within the community
in the form of protests, riots, and political outbreaks. Each political outbreak, violence, and treaties
brought newfound rule and therefore a new influence on life during this era. This research essay will
discuss the numerous wars throughout Middle Ages, political shirts, and their results, with the overall
topic determining how each impacted and influenced the era.
The transition from Late Antiquity brought on the new era of the Middle Ages. This transition ... Show

The Eastgoths (Ostrogoths) whose king was Theodorich in 489 the Eastgoths marched seven hundred
miles over the Alps into the plains of Northern Italy; and in 493 A.D. forced the intrepid Odoacer to
surrender, after he had held out bravely behind the strongholds of Ravenna for three years (Glifford 3).
Following this battle, Odoacer and Theodorich agree to rule together in peace, however, in violation of
the agreement, Theodorich murders Ocader in order to acquire all the power and rule. Although
Theodorich was a barbarian, he was well versed in the arts of living a civilized life. This newfound
rule allowed for a period of recovery displayed through his ability to unite the Gothic and Italian
elements to best serve everyone. Thodorich succeeded in Romanizing his subjects through peace,
instead of the past rulers who tried to denationalize the subjected. (He) also built up the state by other
diplomatic measures by establishing communication with all Gothic rulers throughout Europe
(Glifford 4). Theodorich tried and succeeded in bringing out the enlightenment of Italy in every way;
these efforts along with his energy and sagacity, allowed for his reign to display unparalleled peace
and prosperity (Glifford

Essay about The Washington Monument
The Washington Monument
The Washington Monument, a memorial structure designed and constructed in the nineteenth century,
signifies an important tribute to the prestigious role and achievements of our nation s founding father.
Ideas for such a monument first arose in 1783, by which time the fame George Washington,
Commanding General and first President of the United States, was assured in the pantheon of
statesmen of the world (1). It was during this year that the Continental Congress proposed an
equestrian statue in honor of Washington s services and his unique role in the founding of the new
Republic (1).
Despite the project s popularity with the public, however, little action was taken following ... Show

Despite the difficulties that were faced during both the planning and construction of the Washington
Monument, the impressive tributary obelisk still stands today as one of the nation s noblest
architectural structures (1).
Prior to beginning construction in 1848, the government spent nearly seventy years in legislation.
Shortly after it was decided in 1783 that an equestrian statue should be erected in honor of George
Washington, a French landscape engineer by the name of Major Charles Pierre L Enfant drew up the
first plan for Washington s future capital, including the statue as one of the principal features of the
Federal District (1). The idea resurfaced after the death of George Washington in December of 1799,
when a proposal made by U.S. Representative John Marshall suggested the erection of a marble
monument under which the founder s body would be deposited. But Congress could take no
immediate action due to conflicting opinions in both the House and Senate and with Washington s
family members: when the House appropriated $200, 000 for the construction of ... [a] mausoleum of
American granite and marble, in pyramidal form 100 feet square at the base and of proportionate
height (1), the grant was opposed by the Senate and family members (who did not want to move the
remains from the site where Washington had specifically asked they be placed).
Throughout the Nation there was a deep sense of disappointment over the

The Eighth Amendment gets from the 1689 English Bill of Rights, redacted in the Virginia
Declaration of Rights and recommended by the Virginia favoring custom. The Cruel and Unusual
Punishment Clause seems to show an earlier right to safeguard. Really, truant significant conditions,
American courts have reliably expected that each respondent has a benefit to flexibility pending trial
by paying of bail. As a rule, the courts have been conscious to legitimate exclusions to the other side
to bail. Carlson v. Landon (1952). In British practice, most authentic wrongdoings were nonbailable.
See Hunt v. Roth. In America, various common contracts and state constitutions, and moreover the
Northwest Ordinance of 1787 and the Judiciary Act of 1789, guaranteed a benefit to protect yet made
exception for capital offenses. All the more starting late, the Supreme Court has avowed a state statute
allowing pretrial confinement of a couple of youths, Schall v. Martin (1984). In United States v.
Salerno (1987), the Court kept up the pretrial constrainment plans in the Bail Reform Act of 1984 that
associated with individuals who were caught for honest to goodness infringement and who may speak
to a risk to the gathering.
The Eighth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, sanctioned in 1791, has three arrangements. The

How To Do The Right Thing In The Movie Pan
Many people just go with the flow because of their fear of being ridiculed and isolated if they do the
right thing. Doing the right thing, no matter what it may appear like in the immediate future, will
almost always turn out better. The idea of always doing the right thing is supported by a boy named
Peter in the movie Pan. He is enslaved in a work camp with thousands of other boys, where they were
forced to mine gems for the powerful empire. Everyone else there had abandoned the idea that they
would ever be free; however Peter did what he knew was right even though he ran the risk of being
killed. He rallied a small militia by giving them hope and rebelled against the cruel empire. As a result
of his courageous actions he, and all of the

Power control(unfinished) Essay
Power and Control Poems and plays often have to deal with the theme of power and control. In
Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet Capulet wields the authority. Shakespeare portrays Capulet as a
patriarchal ruler who is not afraid to show his controlling side. His aggression is key aspect in the play
and becomes a catalyst for the outcome of our star crossed lovers . I will also examine the exertion of
power in the poems My Last Duchess , Hawk Roosting and Human Interest . Firstly, I will begin with
examining the theme of force in Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet . The first key scene to consider is
act one scene on in which a battle between the Capulets and Montagues occurs. In this scene Capulet
himself is not afraid to get involved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It shows Capulet using his dominance but without becoming enraged. As act 1 scene 5 progresses
Capulet becomes less patient repeating the word go to! go to! The use of repetition implies Capulet is
becoming less patient with Tybalt and the use an exclamation also adds to the portrayal of Capulet s
irritation. As the scene proceeds the imperatives become shorter, increasing the audiences knowledge
of Capulet s impatience. Towards the start of the scene we see Capulet exerting little aggression but as
we examine the scene closer we see that Capulet loses control over himself and becomes angry at
Tybalt. In contrast to act one scene two we see Capulet objectifying Juliet in act three scene four. We
see Capulet acting as if he can sell his own child as if it were a business deal. The quote I will make a
desperate tender of my child s love implies that Capulet is going to give away Juliet s love to Paris.
The word tender clearly tells the audience that Capulet believes that he can give his daughter s love
away to with no question asked. The fact that Capulet is not hesitant to sell his daughter implies that
he knows that he rules everyone and that he can control others. It also tells us that he believes he can
make decisions for other people without them knowing. The word my is a possessive pronoun which
re enforces the idea that Capulet owns Juliet and has the right to give her away. In this

Black Phosphorus Research Paper
Black Phosphorus was discovered in 1914. There was little known about it when it was first
discovered but that has changed in the past few decades. Researchers are looking into using black
phosphorus as a semiconductor, in electronics, optics, and LEDs. Many factors are to be considered
when thinking of using black phosphorus as a semiconductor, the cost, if large scale synthesis is
possible while to being to complicated or expensive. Black Phosphorus has the potential to be a great
semiconductor because of its large tunable band gap. These are qualities that are wanted for
semiconductors however there needs to be further studies regarding black phosphorus to gain a better

phosphorus needs to be made stable in atmospheric conditions, cost effective, and have a high yield.
When these obstacles have been overcome, black phosphorus should be ready for testing in electronic

Iraq Invasion of Kuwait vs US Iraq War Essay
Iraq Invasion of Kuwait vs U.S Iraq War
Iraq and Kuwait have a long history; Kuwait played a huge part in the Iran Iraq war, mostly
financially. Open warfare began on September 22, 1980; Iraq claimed Iran shelled a number of border
posts on September 4, 1980. Kuwait funded Iraq during the Iraq Iran war, which caused tension
between the two nations when Iraq couldn t pay the $14 billion dollars back to Kuwait when it was
time to settle their debt. The Iraqi government asked Kuwait to forgive the debt, as they could not
afford to pay, Kuwait refused to forgive the debt, which increased tensions between the two nations.
The United States supported Kuwait when Iraq invaded Kuwait. During the 2003 Iraq War, the United

Both the Kuwaiti and Saudi Government refused to forgive the debt, which increased diplomatic
tensions between the three countries.
The United States had to justify the 1991 and 2003 invasion of Iraq. In both cases the United States
used Iraq s history of human rights abuses under President Saddam Hussein. In his speech President
Bush stated,
(1990) First, we seek the immediate, unconditional, and complete withdrawal of all Iraqi forces from
Kuwait. Second, Kuwait s legitimate government must be restored to replace the puppet regime. And
third, my administration, as has been the case with every President from President Roosevelt to
President Reagan, is committed to the security and stability of the Persian Gulf. And fourth, I am
determined to protect the lives of American citizens abroad.
The United States and allies justified invading Iraq because of the importance of oil to the American
and western economies. After annexing Kuwait, the Iraqi government turned its eye on Saudi Arabia
where tensions had existed for many years. The United States felt they had to stand and defend a very
close and important ally. The primary justifications for invading Iraq during the 2003 Iraq war was,
Saddam Hussein was developing weapons of mass destruction. The United States also used Iraq s
history of human rights abuses as and excuse for invading Iraq. Finally, the United States sought to
invade Iraq to rid Iraq of their current regime and promote democracy. This was not well

Stigma and Barriers to Care is a self report measure that was adapted from the original 11 item
version. The original scale was reported as having Cronbach alphas for the perceived stigma scale at
.82 and .70 for the barriers to care scale (Britt et al., 2008). Britt and colleagues added additional items
based on literature to create a more robust measure (Britt, Pury, Zinzow, Raymond, 2013). The self
report measure consists of 16 items exploring topics of stigma (including self stigma), attitudes toward
mental health care, attitudinal, logistical, and perceived barriers. Items are scored on a likert scale with
response options of strongly agree, agree, neither agree nor disagree, disagree, and strongly disagree.

International Neuropsychiatric Interview for DSM 5 (M.I.N.I.) (Sheehan, 2014). The M.I.N.I. is a

was since revised to capture revisions to various editions of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of
Mental Disorders. It is a commonly used assessment to complete structured psychiatric diagnostic
interviews. The M.I.N.I. takes approximately 15 minutes to complete and screens for various
psychiatric diagnoses. The M.I.N.I. has been reported as having reliability with a kappa of 0.88 to 1.0
and validity with kappa generally greater than 0.5 (Quimby et al., 2012). All modules within the
M.I.N.I. will be administered with the exception of the modules to assess for PTSD and suicide. The
PTSD module will not be utilized because this study will assess for PTSD with the CAPS 5. The
suicide module will not be used due to the nature of this study and the inability of this researcher to
perform ethically necessary interventions to a participant who potentially endorses suicidal ideation.
Moreover, assessment of suicidality is not necessary for the proposed

Speech On Indian Food
Once considered the shining jewel in the British Empire s crown, India can today be easily deemed as
the huge, 60 carat diamond in the World s flavored cuisine ring . Indian food is all about variety and is
an example of ancient tradition. The cuisine of the country is characterized by elaborate cooking
techniques and the use of expensive ingredients.
Indian cuisine was introduced to a splendid assortment during the colonial period. The colonial period
introduced European cooking styles to India exhibiting British Influence on Indian Food. In that
period, flexibility and diversity was introduced to the cuisine of India. The history of Indian food tells
us that during the reign of the British Empire in India (the British Raj), the local cuisine was
considered by the Europeans closely to what Gods taught of ambrosia: a delightful, heavenly and
delicate dish. Many times, we ask how the Indian cuisine grew to be so popular, so diverse and so
delightful. In truth, the question is quite dim...from a population of one billion people, is it really that

The Indian cuisine is as diverse as the Indian people and it has a large (and extremely rich) selection
of appetizers, hors d oeuvres, and snacks. They are based on a number of spices and herbs, such as
ginger, cinnamon, garlic, cloves, asafetida, aniseed or coriander, rather that the fat appetizers you ll
find mostly anywhere else in the World.
The majority of Indian appetizers and snacks are based on potatoes, combined with different spices.
The Alu Ki Tikki for example, which is one of the oldest snacks recorded by the history of Indian
food, is made out of mashed potatoes coriander and onions. Another snack greatly enjoyed by the
British during the Raj period, the Samosa appetizer, made out of steamed potatoes, peas and
vegetables, is one of the many Indian recipes that was passed on from ancient

  • 2. The Core Components Of The Social Exchange Theory Social Exchange Theory is grounded in the idea that people assess their relationships from an economic perspective when pertaining to costs and rewards that are identified amongst different relational partners. It is within this paper that we discuss the core components that make up the theory, the possible advantages and disadvantages of its use, as well as touch base on a real world communication example the Social Exchange Theory can be associated with. There are multiple core components that have been identified and further constructed in which make up the Social Exchange Theory. West and Turner (2014) further explain that costs are the factors that contribute to the negative value we place on relationships while rewards are rather the positive values. Additionally, West and Turner proceed with the idea that we evaluate all types of relationships by using the following equation: Worth = Rewards Costs When rewards are greater than the costs, or the final amount is a positive number, it is considered to be a positive relationship, whereas a negative number would indicate the relationship to be negative. The Social Exchange Theory then acknowledges the worth of these relationships and the outcomes that will be endured, or whether or not relationships will hold stable or instead be terminated. It is the idea that individuals enter into and maintain relationships as long as it is satisfying both person s self interest. Social Exchange Theory is based on the idea that ... • 3. The Security Threats And Security Architecture Design ABSTRACT Among civilian communication systems, vehicular communications emerge as one of the most convincing effort made to enhance safety and improve the efficiency of transportation systems, to meet ever increasing traffic demands. Security is one of the critical factors that need to be addressed towards the deployment of vehicular communication systems. The efficiency of the transportation systems, as well as the physical safety of vehicles, drivers, and passengers depend on the security factor. Vehicular communications has to pass through the analysis of potential security threats and the design of a robust security architecture able to cope with these threats. In this paper we deal with the security threats and security architecture design. INTRODUCTION: Vehicular communications (VC) will play a vital role in enabling safer, smarter and greener transportation, with envisioned applications providing, for example, warnings on environmental hazards (e.g., ice on the pavement), traffic and road conditions (e.g., emergency braking, congestion, or construction sites), and local (e.g., tourist) information. To empower such applications, vehicles and road side infrastructure units (RSUs), namely network nodes, will be furnished with on board processing and wireless communication modules, to communicate with each other over single or multiple hops. Then, communication between vehicle to vehicle (V2V) and vehicle to infrastructure (V2I) (bi directional) will be possible directly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Mark Cuban and Sec Mark Cuban was offered that the Web search engine named Mamma.com was going to offer $16.6 million worth of new shares to private institution and other qualified investors. The information about PIPEs is material since it s not yet publicly announced and that info could affect the shareholders behaviors. 1. Why didn t the SEC accuse Mark Cuban of traditional illegal insider trading, considering he was the largest, individual shareholder of Mamma.com? Even though the information about PIPEs was material inside information, Mark Cuban was not accused as traditional insider information. To qualify as traditional insider trading, there must involve true insiders buying or selling the company s stock based on material inside information. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... SEC alleged that Mark Cuban violated misappropriate insider trading. To be qualified as misappropriate insider trading, an individual wrongfully obtains (misappropriates) inside information and trades on it for her or his personal benefit. In this case, Cuban actually traded his shares based on the material inside information he was told and saved him $750,000 in losses. Wrongful misappropriation means violation of a fiduciary duty. The Court found that Cuban had not misappropriated any material non public information because he had not violated a legal duty to refrain from trading. Cuban had not promised that he would not trade after learning about a PIPE offering. The judge also said that the SEC failed to show that Cuban undertook a legal duty to not use the information he learned from those two phone calls with Mamma.com representatives. Mark Cuban did not have any fiduciary duty to not act upon the information. The Mamma.com CEO asked Cuban to keep their conversation confidential. However, that didn t prove that Cuban had a legal duty to Mamma.com that would prohibit him from selling his shares based on what he was told. He just promised to not disclose the information to the others, not promised to not act upon what someone told him. Besides, there was no evidence that he actually agreed that day to keep anything confidential. He never agreed on the phone that he would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The present work, therefore, was conducted to evaluate the role of glycine betaine in protecting the proteins inleucerne plants through protease enzyme activity from being damaged by salt stress. On the basis of our results we discuss the response of leucerne plants to salt stress and glycine betaine. MATERIALS AND METHODS Purification of Protease The leucerne plant leaves are procured from 70 days old plants and allowed to stand for two days in a humidity controlled dark growth chamber at 340C. The leaves were homogenized with 0.1M phosphate buffer (pH 7.0) containing 0.4M sucrose and 0.05M sodium ascorbate in a waring blender. Filtered homogenate was (I in Table 1) was squeezed through a gauze and centrifuged at 2000 rpm for 20 mins. The supernatant (II in Table 1) was adjusted to pH 5.0 by the addition of 1N acetic acid and allowed to stand overnight. The precipitate was removed by centrifugation and the supernatant (III in Table 1) was subjected to ammonium sulphate fractionation between 0.25 and 0.9 saturation. The ammonium sulphate precipitate was suspended in 0.0025M Mc llvain buffer (pH 5.5) containing 2.5 × 10 3 M sodium ascorbate and dialyzed against the same buffer at 40C for 20 hrs. The dialysate (IV in Table 1) was centrifuged and the supernatant was fractionated by the addition of ethanol at 50C. A fraction precipitating between 20 and 60% ethanol was collected and dialyzed in the same way. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I was led into the field of radiology for the same reason. It would satisfy the desire for putting the pieces of the puzzle together and coming up with an explanation or diagnosis, which would describe the abnormality. When I started my job at University of Louisville, I had the chance to get a lot of interaction with other departments as well as the department of orthodontics. • 9. Music And The Negative Effects Of Heavy Metal Music Heavy metal music is often criticized for being a negative influence due to the lyrical content and aesthetics of the genre. For those unfamiliar with heavy metal, it is easy to make this correlation because of the darker and often taboo subject matter present throughout the music. With a little more analysis, however, it can be discovered that these same aspects thought to be negative actually bring forth positive results among metal listeners. What is found in heavy metal music is actually a display of emotions and energy that often have a purging effect which helps listeners of metal cope with the constantly changing world around them. Heavy metal is used as a tool for expressing emotion in a nonviolent way, rather than through physical destruction sought by some other genres. Heavy metal is a lot like an experiment to the people who do not understand it or those who dislike it. They look at it as a disgrace, dissect it, run tests on it, and analyze the results in order to get ammunition to put it down. Researchers from the University of Queensland in Australia have found that when volunteers were exposed to extreme music genres including heavy metal, emo, hardcore, punk, and screamo, they actually experienced a range of positive feelings, such as calmness, happiness or being inspired. The study, conducted by honours student Leah Sharman and psychologist Genevieve Dingle and published in the June 26, 2015 edition of Science Alert by writer Peter Dockrill , took 39 ... • 11. Louisa May Alcott Transcendentalism Louisa May Alcott was born in 1832 in Germantown, Pennsylvania where she was taught by her father who was a transcendentalist philosopher. She studied informally with other authors such as Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Theodore Parker. She has been publishing since 1851 poems, short stories, thrillers and juvenile tales. Her most popular novel was Little Women published in 1868. From what I read in a biography, she transformed her father s story Fruitland to make it look like the woman was the hero. It says in the article that she: makes her own creation out of his Fruitland s story, feminizes it, making the mother the hero and the father the fool . Utopia is an ideal place or a visionary system of political or social perfection. With the transcendental movement everyone has to follow a routine. They would all wake up at the same time every day, take baths, eat at the same time, have meaningful conversations, get back to work and finish work the evening came. Within the community there are beliefs so it is not just one person thinking in a different way, but a group of people. It is a transcendental movement because they choose to live and believe in different things than the rest of the world, but within the community they all have to think the same way, someone cannot be self reliant on his own. From what I understand, the children were allowed to do what they wanted, and members in the community were allowed to express their feeling freely, in other community this not accepted if it is not intellectual or spiritual thinking. People should not express their feelings freely and should speak in a very kind way, one youth did the opposite in Fruitland. He said something like: Good morning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Analysis Of Speak By Laurie Anderson The book Speak by Laurie Anderson is a book about how Melinda Sordino overcomes the troubles in her life, and how she learned to speak up for herself. The author uses a lot of archetypes and allusions throughout the book to add a fuller description to the events Melinda had gone through, which will help the readers to better understand what Anderson is trying to tell. When Melinda started her first day of high school, she suffered from peer pressure with her best friend who had just left her, and everyone had hated her because she ruined a party during summer break by calling the police. Melinda knew that no one knew the truth, but she was afraid to speak out about it. Laurie Anderson used the allusion of Rudolph, the red nosed reindeer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, this drawing of the tree is representative of the mind growth of Melinda. For instance, the drawing was poorly drawn at the beginning of the book, Melinda s pressure and her life were weighing her down. As the drawing got better throughout the school year, Melinda s strength and mindset also began to get better as well. If the tree meant to shelter , then Melinda sure developed a very nice shelter for herself in the end. Laurie Anderson also used allusions while describing Melinda s trauma. IT sees me. IT smiles and winks. Good thing my lips are stitched together or I d throw up. (Anderson 96). The book Maya Angelou is written by a girl who was once raped. The experience is similar between Melinda and Angelou. The audience may not fully understand what Melinda was thinking during that time, but the book, Maya Angelou, fully describes the life of a raped girl which gave us a fuller understanding of the situation that Melinda was dealing with. She also used the archetype of darkness, when Melinda was raped, it was night time. Darkness represents Chaos, emblem of bad judgment and destruction, for instance, Melinda was raped in the darkness. This word should give the readers a clear foreshadowing of what will happen next. The author also used the archetype of coldness throughout the story. For instance, at ... • 14. The Supreme Court The Supreme Court is responsible for making some of the most important cases that set the tone for society, as it continually ensures that the Constitution remains the law of the land. Many landmark decisions have been made by the court that have impacted society in some of the most significant ways; some of these cases include Marbury v. Madison (1803), Brown v. Board of Education (1954), Miranda v. Arizona (1966), and Roe v. Wade (1973). Key decisions that are being made don t simply impact the plaintiffs and defendants; rather they continually impact the public and the present and future of these issues that have been decided, setting the tone for the rest of us. These important decisions that have and are being made continue to cause much controversy as not all will be agreed on by the public or even other political figures/branches for that matter. And with the way that the court is organized, specifically with lifetime tenure, it can easily make the decisions look to be immune from public opinion. Yet, at this same time, the court must look at how society operates as well as its norms and values, which are impacted by these decisions. And from that aspect, it doesn t seem that public preference is completely thrown out the window; it takes the ability of the public to identify these concerns/issues that need to be addressed, as is the case when it comes to public policy making. The nine justices of the Supreme Court make the most important decisions impacting the U.S. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Not including the juveniles who by pass the detention center and make their way into the adult court system where they are later tried. Juveniles stand out of any prison that they may be asserted to because most acts are created by those younger than the age of 18 those juveniles are allowed to be trialed under the administration of the juvenile court until age 21. Prison is not a place most juveniles while be able to with stand. So the juvenile judges process a variety of different legal options to incorporate both the safety needs of the juvenile while also dealing with the well being of the community and the rehabilitant needs of the juvenile. In some cases, the state will even pay jails to not allow juveniles to be accepted into their facilities. Juveniles are adequately still labeled as children no matter how grown they may think of themselves as. The mind of a person does not mature appropriately until that person reaches their premature twenties. An Arkansas study documented that juveniles who were formerly imprisoned for a crime were about 15 time more likely to constrain another crime. • 16. Participatory Culture Through The Media Old media like broadcasting, print, and film created a consumer culture in the public. Participants would consume the media they could find, and that was the extent of their engagement with a piece of media. But during the digital age, participatory culture has exploded. Participatory culture is a concept coined by Henry Jenkins where consumers take part in both the consumption and the production of media. The advent of computers facilitates a low barrier of entry for creation of digital media and its propagation. With the availability of personal computers and consumer level software to manipulate media as well as the popularity of the internet to spread content, fans have become more engaged with the media they consume. In turn, participants can create forms of that media that comment and expand upon the original content. Participants who used to only consume media now have the avenues to become producers of media. In this essay, I will explore participatory culture through the lense of Lev Manovich s Five Principles of New Media: Numerical Representation, Modularity, Automation, Variability, and Transcoding. The first of Manovich s principles is Numerical Representation. A piece of new media can be represented by discrete numbers. For example, an image file is a collection of numbers describing the color of each pixel in the image. A game is a piece of software compiled to 1 s and 0 s that respond and react to input from the user. Anything in digital form is at its based ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Effectiveness Of Britain s Trade Policy On Economic Recovery The inter war period saw a multitude of different trade policies being used throughout the world. Britain s was one of protectionism, but in their situation their policies seemed to be effective and played a significant role in the quick economic recovery Britain experienced during the 1930s. To explain my evaluation of the effectiveness of Britain s trade policy on their economic recovery in the 1930s, the differing views on the effect of the General Tariff will be examined, taking into account effective protection rates, nominal tariffs, and import substitutions. Additionally, the role trade regionalization played and the legacies that the trade policies left will be inspected. The most debated aspect of the effectiveness of their, now more protectionist, trade policies were the tariffs imposed by Britain. In Forrest Capie s The British Tariff and Industrial Protection in the 1930 s, he argues that the tariffs were a hindrance to the economic recovery. His conclusion is drawn from calculations on the effective protection rates on the tariffs from the General Tariff in 1932; where he found that the iron and steel industries effective protection rates were in the bottom 5% and construction was experiencing negative rates. This is important to him because these were industries that are supposed to have played a role in the recovery of the British economy in the 1930s, causing Capie to believe that if there were no tariffs Britain s economic recovery would have been ... • 18. The Cultural Differences Of Culture In Israel, Israel And... The word culture derives from a French term, which in turn derives from the Latin colere, which means to tend to the earth and grow, or cultivation and nurture. (Zimmerman 1) This can also lead to one concluding that culture changes as civilization is changed and advancements occur. I am culturally Arab. Specifically from around Jerusalem and many other farmer civilations. The cuisine, historical significance of the area, and it s religions are some of the most distinct differences the region has culturally. One sizable distinction for people from Palestine/Israel is their diet compared to surrounding areas. The area surrounding them is mainly desert while they live in a fertile area between the Jordan river and Mediterranean Ocean. This resulted in the area becoming less nomadic and more people settled to farm. Olives, citrus fruits, dates, chickpeas, almonds, and plums are some of the many varieties of produce grown in the region. (Butterfield, et al: 1) This is why the region s food culture is different from its neighbors. From this region, hummus, olive oil, bread, dates, and nuts are staples and are often supplemented by whatever produce are in season. Growing up and eating these foods since I was I child, what people viewed as exotic foods in many places of the world was a normal commodity for me.
