In 1965, Pepsi Co was created through a merger of two companies Pepsi Cola and Frito Lay by
Donald M. Kendall, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pepsi Cola and Herman W. Lay,
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Frito Lay. Pepsi was originally founded in 1898 by Caleb
Bradham, a New Bern, North Carolina, druggist, who first formulated Pepsi Cola. Today, Pepsi is part
of a portfolio of drinks that includes carbonated and non carbonated drinks such as soft drinks, juices
and juice drinks, ready to drink teas and coffee drinks, isotonic sports drinks, bottled water and
enhanced waters. PepsiCo operates in four major fields. These fields include: PepsiCo Americas

Coca Cola is a much better balance sheet than Pepsico, even managing to have more cash on hand
than debt during much of this time frame (SeekingAlpha.com, 2012).
After comparing the two it is companies, I would recommend that Coca Cola is the better pick as far
as who to invest in if given the opportunity to invest in one or the other. Through analyzing the many
ratios and utilizing the components to accurately rationalize the status of the financial stability of the
two companies Coca Cola has proved to have a higher financial accountability. There are many factors
that brought me to this conclusion. Just look at the statements you can see that Pepsi Co. has more
liabilities than Coca Cola and that would generally be the case since Pepsi Co. has monies invested in
other products and Cola does not have any other involvements in other products.

The hospitality industry is about people being hospitable and giving a great experience at each hotel.
If a frequent guest at one hotel was going to another hotel, someone at the first hotel would call that
hotel and let them know about the guest before he walked in the door. Doing this consistently well as a
global brand is challenging. (Mullich, 2011, online). The Bloomberg Businessweek Research Study

executives cited variable data quality, integrity, and consistency as an obstacle to the organisation wide

Emily Dickinson Essay
amp;#8220;Best Things dwell out of Sight ;(#998) describes one of America amp;#8217;s greatest
poets. She dwelled out of sight for most of her life and her poems, with the exception of seven
published anonymously, remained out of sight until well after her death. Many literary scholars have
attempted a biography on this mysterious woman and poet and yet none are conclusive. Dickinson
remains an enigma even today but biographical speculation allows us to analyze some of her poetry
even though we may be completely inaccurate about what we presuppose.
There are some facts about Emily Elizabeth Dickinson that we know for certain. She was born on
December 10, 1830 and is recognized as one of America amp;#8217;s greatest poets. She had an ...

After leaving school she returned home and spent the remainder of her life there. She took occasional
trips but always returned home to her sanctuary and eventually stopped travelling and even leaving her
house completely. She corresponded with her confidantes and friends through letters, rarely seeing
them.
The men she corresponded with during her life include Benjamin Newton, a law student; Reverend
Charles Wadsworth, a Philadelphia minister; Thomas Higginson, a literary critic and Civil War hero,
and Otis Lord, a judge who had been her father amp;#8217;s closest friend. She regarded these men as
intellectual advisers as well as friends. Although many of them found her poetry to be fascinating,
none advised her to publish them.
Dickinson wrote the majority of her poetry during the 1860 amp;#8217;s at which time she had
become increasingly reclusive. She began wearing only white dresses and she hardly left her home, let
alone Amherst. Although she occasionally visited friends, by the time she was forty years of age, she
refused invitations to leave home and spent the remainder of her life taking care of her parents until
they died (her father died in 1847, her mother died in 1882). Emily herself became bedridden during
the last year of her life and her sister, Lavinia, nursed her until

Reforming Inequality Research Paper
Reforming Inequality Despite dipping below ten percent between the late 1960 s and early 1970 s, the
income gap in the United States has climbed steadily over the last fifty years. From its low point in
1973, the wealthiest Americans income share now exceeds even that which they held in 1928, on the
eve of the Great Depression. Experts have pointed to several potential culprits, including the
underrepresentation of lower and middle class citizens in legislatures, the shrinking power of
organized labor, the expanding power of organized business, and a tax system that seems to
disproportionately favor those at the top at the expense of those on the bottom. These factors vary
greatly in level of impact and the feasibility of potential solutions, ... Show more content on

No matter how effective a plan may be at the former, if it cannot succeed at the latter it will never be
implemented. Convincing enough voters to support the tax plan will be extremely difficult, due to
both the high levels of ideological opposition to taxes and the resources and organizational strength of
the measure s primary opponents. Per an April 2016 Gallup poll, 61% of Americans believe that the
wealthy pay too little in taxes (Gallup), so Americans at least agree in principle that taxes should be
increased for the wealthy. Additionally, by emphasizing elements of the measure that could appeal to
conservative voters, such as keeping money from leaving the economy, candidates could generate
crossover appeal to both conservative and liberal parts of the electorate. The chief difficulty,
ultimately, will be overcoming the formidable organizations those with a vested interest in keeping
taxes low can bring to bear. Just as they did in the 1970 s, business and financial leaders will marshal
their extensive capacity to launch multi faceted campaigns (Hacker 125), exerting pressure on
incumbent candidates to distance themselves from the new tax policy and organizing opposition via
advertising, political action committees, and donations. To counteract this disadvantage, candidates
must mobilize wealthy liberal activists sympathetic to the cause of tax

Personal Narrative-Changing Experience
One day, about 8 years ago, I learned how to do something that I thought I would never be able to do.
First, I never thought that I could learn to ride my bike. I had been practicing to ride my bike for about
a year. The year before kindergarten, I was practicing on by bike with training wheels. I had rode on
my grannies porch every day. When I started kindergarten, I could not ride my bike as often, but I
would always go to my grannies after school and ride it up and down the porch. One day my granny
saw me riding and said that it was about time to get a bike without training wheels. I begged her every
day after that to get me a bike. She said that I had to wait until Christmas. I was mad at her. When I
went to Wal mart with her we would go and look at the bikes. I told her witch one I wanted, she said

Unemployment On The Us Economy Essay
Name: Instructor: Subject: Date: Unemployment in US economy The unemployment turnover view
has a strong base on the contemporary thinking about unemployment in the entire United States.
Joblessness or unemployment takes place when an individual searches for another new job and
devotes most of time searching for another job. Moreover, unemployment comes into being if an
individual goes in search of a new employment after being out of labor force for a long time. The
individuals in search of employment get employed in monthly duration in a range of 10% to 40%. The
unemployment varies directly with separation rate and varies indirectly with the rate of searching for a
job. For a long time, labor market students have believed that the time of acute rise in unemployment
or recession were due to increased rates of separation from jobs and decreased rates of finding jobs.
From this perspective, the period of recession starts by the trend of layoffs. The trends of layoffs are
mainly done in industries of durable goods. As labor market gets crowded with those seeking for
employment, the rate of finding jobs decreases and the after unemployment duration rises. In contrary,
recent research and data have disapproved this argument. The new perspective views separations as to
have no contribution to the increased problems of unemployment during the period of recession. The
reason behind increased unemployment during the recession is difficulties in finding jobs, not the
dumping of those

President Franklin D. Roosevelt s New Deal
When President Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected in 1932, he took office in one of the worst
economic crises in American history. The preceding three years were three years of significant
hardship that took a toll on the nation s morale. He won the presidency in a landslide vote over the
fairly conservative incumbent Herbert Hoover showing the American people were desperate for
changes that could restore the nation to economic prosperity seen in the 1920 s. Once he was
inaugurated, he quickly jumped into action. In the first couple of years of his presidency he passed
legislation that created a few dozen government programs trying to fix anything from unemployment
to fraud in the stock market. Most of these programs were successful. By the 1940 s, most of the
public s confidence had been restored as well, exemplifying the extent of the success of the New Deal.
Franklin D. Roosevelt s New Deal was successful because it created programs that restored the public
s morale and that brought relief to many Americans. As of a result of the government programs
created by the New Deal, restoring American morale was a success. The Tennessee Valley was hit
very hard by the economic downturn. Since the soil was poor, farmers has poor crop yields. The main
source of income for the region was crops. Perhaps one of the most ambitious programs that was a
part of the New Deal, the Tennessee Valley Authority, or the TVA, helped fix these problems therefore

A Utopian Society
A utopian society is amongst many things that we as humans strive towards. In an ideal world, a
society where everyone is treated equally and sin does not exist, is the definition of a perfect society.
However, what many people neglect to understand is that they are striving to reach a goal that is
nearly impossible to accomplish. A utopian society is nearly impossible to have because of power
imbalances, different values, and the existence of sin. All of which are a part of human nature, and
controlling the actions and feelings of humans cannot easily be done, especially without the use of
extensive technological devices.
The power imbalances in The Scarlet Letter exhibit examples of unequally. Inequality, as many of us
realize, is not a characteristic of a Utopian society. Throughout the novel, we observe many people
with titles such as Governor Bellingham and Minister Reverend Dimmesdale. Titles, such as these,
communicate to the audience their authoritative role in story. It also allows the readers to become
informed about the power imbalances that often occur within any society. Governor Bellingham and
Reverend Dimmesdale possess certain rights and powers that the puritan community does not have.
For example, the governor had the authority to put Hester Prynne in prison after she committed
adultery. Although, we do not know for certain which person gave orders to place Hester Prynne in
prison, it is appropriate to assume that it was someone with a lot of power and

cases : oblique intention D has a purpose other than causing the prohibited harm but where that result

Themes And Characters In Libba Boviny s Going Vanany
Have you ever done anything for anybody else just because you actually cared about them? No. You
probably don t even know what that feels like. This is the part where I jump in and say, Why, that s not

fictional narrative Going Bovine (496 pages), by Libba Bray, Cameron Smith (the narrator/main

Reflection Paper On Volunteer In A Community
I volunteered at Jubilee Park Community Center on Thursday, November 16, 2017 for their annual
Thanksgiving Dinner Feast from 11:00am to 2:00 pm. The local church in the area provided a
delightful meal consisting of Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, rolls and
an assortment of holiday deserts. Dozens of volunteers were on hand to make sure that this celebration
went off without a hitch. I had the pleasure of signing guests into the community center and directing
them to the entrance of the banquet hall. Most of the people that showed up were people that live in
the community and utilize the center on a regular basis. According to the website, the mission of
Jubilee Park and Community Center is to be a catalyst for community renewal and enrichment to the
Jubilee Park Neighborhood, a 62 block area in southeast Dallas. The majority of families here are
working poor who are under served in terms of education and health resources (Mission, n.d.).
Working the sign in table allowed me to interact with people of different ages, religions, and colors. I
met wonderfully diverse individuals and many of the elderly I spoke to were so grateful to be a part of

The overall mood of the Cask of Amontillado is based on a multitude of different attributes. These

The Cask of Amontillado has a very dark and spooky setting. The majority of the story takes place in
the catacombs of the home of Montresor, the narrator. This gives the story a creepy atmosphere. The
sounds affecting the mood are painful moaning, creepy laughing, and the clattering of bones and

The Counter Products ( Otc ) Drug Used For The Treatment...
Introduction:
Over the counter products are effective in the management of self limiting conditions, but also pose
danger of misuse. Loperamide or Imodium, is a common over the counter (OTC) drug primarily used
for the treatment of diarrhea. As a synthetic µ opioid receptor agonist, loperamide increases intestinal
transit time by decreasing intestinal motility and modifies intestinal transport of water and electrolytes
by stimulating absorption, all which are beneficial in the treatment of diarrhea.1 However, what makes
loperamide truly attractive is its lack of the analgesic effects in therapeutic and supra therapeutic
doses.1 All this is true, when loperamide is taken as directed. Unfortunately, it is not being taken as
directed and has had serious negative health outcomes for those misusing and abusing it.
When conducting studies to quantify loperamide s abuse potential, the maximum dose used was
60mg,2 it never occurred to us, that mega daily doses of up to 400mg would ever be used.3 Sadly, this
is the reality of the times in which we live in and if pharmacists are to be of help, we must quickly
adapt. Obviously opioid misuse is not a new thing, and is definitely not exclusive to a particular
geographic location.4 Opioid policies and regulations set in place to limit and restrict physicians
prescribing, though with good intent, have created a complex pool of patients that turn to other
sources of opioids5. Loperamide s abuse and misuse is potentiated by its

The Theory Of Foreign Policy Changes
In Painful Choices, David Welch is entirely focused on developing a theory of when and why foreign
policy changes. Welch is also interested in a way to forecast these changes. His assembled theory,
which I will evaluate in greater depth, is termed the Loss Aversion Theory of Foreign Policy Change .
This Theory entails three hypotheses on the conditions under which we can expect and, more
importantly, predict changes in foreign policy. Although Welch remains humble regarding his Theory s
drawbacks and predictive capabilities, there are some potentially problematic assumptions at the
foundation of Loss Aversion Theory. I will discuss why Welch s Theory is primarily useful solely at
the Individual Level. Finally, I intend to discuss why the Theory is not a comprehensive theory of
foreign policy and why the assumptions required for the Theory to hold limit the cases that can be
explained by it. After finding numerous theoretical and practical difficulties in the attempts thus far to
draft of a theory of state behavior, Welch proposes that [a] possible way out of [these difficulties] is to
seek to base predictions not on explanations of why states behave the way they do in general... but on
explanations of why they deviate from their prior behavior. Looking only at the changes in state
behavior is a radical approach; it is a perspective from which what [states] do in general is irrelevant.
2 Temporarily ignoring state goals, Welch turns his attention to how states

Domestic Violence As A Public Health Problem Essay
Domestic violence as a public health problem is studied from an epidemiological perspective.
Epidemiology is the core of public health, providing insight into the causes, prevalence, and control of
disease in populations. Partner abuse is defined, risk factors, prevalence, and consequences are
addressed from both the civilian and military perspectives as it relates to the batterer, spouse, and
children. Most of what is known about domestic violence from a scientific perspective are through a
civilian lens. A growing body of research on partner abuse in the military is emerging with most
studies conducted on the Army. The article reports on the results of an in depth study of the
epidemiology of partner abuse in all branches of the military. Rates of violence are higher in military
populations than is civilian populations. Data further suggests that more severe forms of abuse occur
in military families. Evidence based prevention and intervention approaches were recommended with
a focus on real and perceived barriers to treatment.
The article serves as a foundation for my paper. It is scientifically based, epidemiologically focused on
the definition, causes, distribution and treatment options for domestic violence. It supports my
position that domestic violence is a major public health issue of civilian and military populations. The
article further addresses the entire family and both the civilian and military communities. It is also one
of a few sources that evaluated all

The Emotional Brain Overpowering The Thinking Brain
In the psychopathologies mentioned above, one thing is common the emotional brain overpowering
the thinking brain. Therefore, in dealing with these psychopathologies, the main goal is to somehow
wake the thinking brain up so that it could fire the needed neurons to finally control the emotional
brain. It can be as simple as trying to talk some sense into the person. This is because when a person is
listening, it is the neocortex that is being used and will therefore fire up more neurons. Just like the

Ancient Art Of Persuasion Summary
How to Use the Ancient Art of Persuasion to Sell Anything

the set about ready to be released he ran into the problem of his publisher not having the funds for the

Simply stated, sales is just persuasion, and persuasion is all about human nature. Philosophers
understand human nature, so, a philosopher should understand sales. In his book How to Speak How
to Listen , Adler connected salesmanship to Aristotle s philosophy. He referenced Aristotle as positing
that there are three major tactics one needs to use in order to be successful in persuasion: ethos, pathos
and logos. These three core principles that Aristotle came up with 2000 years ago are still used to this
day. Don t be fooled by the marketers trying to sell their sales secrets for large profit, there s nothing
new in the art of persuasion!

Macbeth And Oedipus Comparison
As we read Macbeth, I realized that there are many similarities with Oedipus Rex. Macbeth and
Oedipus are both the main lead and the tragic heroes. The plot of both plays are about gaining control,
using power, and taking charge for one s actions. Both Oedipus Rex and Macbeth are disasters.
Sophocles and Shakespeare wrote these plays to teach a simple lesson for average people. Oedipus
and Macbeth are both men that have a lot of power but are not capable of keeping it. Both experienced
many contradictory choices that formed their character traits, such as man versus nature, man versus
action, and man versus person. Oedipus and Macbeth are rulers who fell in their own burdens because
of what they lack. Initially, Oedipus and Macbeth became kings

Using Fixed And Variable Costs Within The Report
Exhibit 2 contains both fixed and variable costs within the report. Other costs we must look at is the
opportunity of the purchased computer equipment, which has a value of roughly $25,500. The leased
computer equipment cannot be cancelled, thus we consider it a sunk cost and do not take it into
consideration. Next, we look at the purpose of creating PDS. The purpose was to help deregulate PTC
and rescind the push through of a rate increase. If they shut down PDS, PTC would have to pay the
market rate for their data needs, which will increase this cost by two fold. Additional issues to take
into consideration are the burdens of finding alternate use for the space PDS is currently renting and
the opportunity cost of wages being paid to the PDS employees. Can we invest the wage pay
somewhere else for a higher return? Asking these questions demonstrates the value of looking at PDS
in depth to determine if more value exists than appears within the initial reports.
Digging deeper, the first number we examine is how many computer hours PDS has to sell to break
even. We will assume the intercompany hours billed at $400 will average 205 per month. The variable
costs include power, parts of operation wages, and materials. Next, we calculate the unit contribution
(sales variable cost). The average cost for power is the total 3 month power cost divided by the total
time computers were used during this time (total revenue plus service hours) or 5028/1110 = $4.53.

I Am Sam Research Paper
It all started in my childhood years, I got the passion of writing poetry in elementary school. I would
read poems from famous authors and it would make me want to write my own poems. For instance;
when I read cat and the hats Green Eggs and Ham I would always fall in love for the images that came
from I am Sam, Sam I am. When, I was in the fifth grade I meet my best friend Mercedes and every
time we were together after school we would write poems. It was the summer of 2009 and we were

Entrance Test: A Penetration Test is a specialized evaluation intended to accomplish a particular
objective, e.g., to take client information, to pick up area head, or to alter delicate pay data.
Generally Confused With: The Penetration Test is frequently befuddled (or potentially conflated) with
the helplessness evaluation. See Business people for more data. Another approach to consider this is to
envision helplessness evaluations as searching for security issues when you know/accept they exist,
and infiltration testing as approving an arrangement when you trust it to be secure.

The essential differentiator is in where appraisals begin and where they put their core interest. Danger
Models center around assault situations and afterward move into the operators, the vulns, the controls,
and the potential effects. Hazard Assessments regularly begin from the benefit side, rating the
estimation of the advantage and the guide onto it the potential dangers, probabilities of misfortune, the
effect of misfortune, and so forth.
Best Used When: Risk Assessments ought to apparently be viewed as an umbrella term for figuring
out what you have of esteem, how it can be assaulted, what you would lose if those assaults were
effective, and what ought to be done to address the issues. It s essential that when somebody says they

Different Theories Of Psychology, And Beliefs And...
Everyone has their own philosophy about the way we live our lives, and how we follow a certain path
to get to our destination. One s philosophy may be based on their religious beliefs, what they were
taught growing up, or both. I was raised Christian and many of the beliefs I have stems from my
Christian roots. I was always told God was the reason a person behaved a certain way or the devil.
Now that I am older, and mostly due to my college education, I see the world differently. Before
learning about the different theories in psychology, and the beliefs and techniques that come with
them, I had applied many to my own life before. I am spiritual and I believe that many people are born
with destinies. I believe we are all on a path predetermined for us and that we take many detours along
the way. If we take the wrong detour, whether it be days, months, or years, something drastic will
happen to get us back on the right path. When we make friends, they either work out, or something
awful happens that ends the friendship. Once the air has been cleared, one can realize that a certain
person was leading us down the wrong path. The way we live life is largely influenced by the
company we keep and our upbringing. I have friends who were born in corrupt neighborhoods to
parents who were on drugs and they went down the same trail as them. Their environment played a
large part in how they chose to live their lives. Some people have a biological predisposition for drugs,

Living Conditions of Industrial Cities in the 19th Century
What Were Living Conditions Like in 19th Century Industrial Cities?
The living conditions in the Industrial Revolution varied from city to city depending on how much the
factory owners cared for their workers or how much industry went on there. The Industrial Revolution
gained pace during Victoria s reign because of the power of steam. Victorian engineers developed
larger powerful machines that could run whole factories. This led to a massive increase in the number
of factories. Despite the growing wealth due to trade and commerce, many of the working people, who
actually produced the wealth, lived, worked and died in very poor conditions. The Industrial
Revolution was stimulated by Britain s gargantuan empire and its growing level of trade. There was
increased demand for the export of goods from Britain and greater pressure on importing goods into
Britain.
The industrialisation of Britain s towns and cities had a detrimental effect on the people who came to
live there. Living conditions in the 1800s were incredibly unequal. The rich and powerful factory
owners would live out in the quiet peaceful countryside with lots of creature comforts, whilst their
workers would return into smelly, dirty and minuscule back to back terraces at the end of a long
working day. These homes were usually built with no inside toilets or running water. People either
washed in a tin bath or at a pump outside. Many people decided not to wash at all as it was the easiest
option. There was a

The Justification of Reverse Discrimination in Hiring Essay
In The Justification of Reverse Discrimination in Hiring, Tom Beauchamp displays statistics of
underrepresented races and genders in institutions. The inequality is due to the underlying persistent
racism originating decades ago. It has been pervasively executed despite federal laws for equality. The
expectation for a level playing field is not a reality, as statistically show with underrepresented African
Americans (1. Beauchamp, CC2011, p 0228). Beauchamp points out that at first sight, reverse
discrimination appears immoral, because it crafts a prejudice for one race over another. However, he
asserts that this inference is not applicable in the real world where ubiquitous prejudice still exists as
indicated by statistics. Because we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is an overrepresentation of minorities in inferior schools, living in a crime infested city, and
lacking family support (4. Rachels, CC2011, p 0203). If a minority with disadvantages reaches the
same qualifications as an advantaged Caucasian, the minority is more deserving, indicative of the
increased effort needed to put in. Fairness is a necessary condition in Rachels argument and minorities
that are qualified for institutions are generalized to have put in more sweat. In some cases when this
generalization is true, preferential treatment is considered fair. To establish a level playing field,
Beauchamp suggests a policy of strong affirmative action. This includes quotas to be implemented and
supported by government sanctions in a timely manner. Commitment to quotas will statistically show
progress towards a society built on equality. Beauchamp believes that laws are ineffectively
implemented and it is unclear to tell if institutions are intentionally discriminating unless numbers are
available (5. Beauchamp, CC2011, p 0230). Beauchamp s policy is an argument where the end result
morally justifies the method to get there. However, Rachels suggests a moderate form of reverse
discrimination where in a pool of equally qualified candidates, those challenged by unearned
disadvantages get preference. This consequentialist argument suggests that young minorities do not
have role models or mentors to emulate.

Originalism Vs Living-Constitutionalism
Our country is founded on laws and to those laws we need to be held accountable. There are two
forms of judicial review that the laws we have and the laws we will have are decided on. Those two
forms of judicial review are originalism and living constitutionalism . Originalists believe, the
constant touchstones of constitutional law should be the purposes and values of those who had the
authority to make the Constitution not of those who are charged with governing under it and abiding
by it (Whittington, 2006, para. 4). While living constitutionalism looks to remove some of the power

Arguments Against Government Censorship
Government censorship is a huge issue, particularly when it comes to media messages. There is a fine
line that must be walked when deciding what should be censored. However, it boils down, in my
opinion, to one major consideration; is what is being made public going to harm or endanger anyone?
If the answer to that is no then I don t think that the government should censor it. However, I do think
that we have seen examples, recently right here in Tuscaloosa where some kind of government
censorship should have been exercised.
January 10th, the morning after the National Championship a man jumped out of some bushes and
held a gun to a bank tellers head and then proceeded to take the employees inside hostage. The media

In 1644 John Milton published a prose titled Areopagitica which opposed censorship. While he was
not fighting for freedom of press he was fighting more for the freedom of the printing press. At the
time anything written had to be approved by Parliament before it could be published, he was against
that censorship and stated that not knowing was more dangerous than knowing. Milton s work which
pre dated the issue of the freedom of the press quite a bit laid the groundwork for opposing censorship.
I believe he had a point, when you allow too much censorship you essentially put all the power in one
group of people s hands, the ones deciding what to censor. On the other hand, when you ban
censorship then a system of checks and balances exists. For example, the new President, Donald
Trump has been discussing censoring specific federal agency websites, specifically the EPA s website
on climate change. That sort of censorship is bad. But because of where we live and the fact that we
are unaccustomed to censorship everyone began calling him out on it and, for now at least, the website

Religious Hypocrisy in Tartuffe and Candide Religion in society has often been a tough pill to

Candide, Voltaire s play, both deal with the issue of religion in society. Tartuffe is written as a comedy
in which satirizes religious hypocrisy. It was wrote it about the views of the bourgeois class towards

eating. Even though he is aware of his depression, Holden does not speak of seeing a psychiatrist for
serious issues such as his malnutrition even though he should really see one.
An obvious sign of Holdens depression is the fact that he talks of committing suicide at various points
of the novel. Every time Holden is feeling really lousy he would

Nt1310 Unit 3 Assignment 1 Bridge
Bridge:
Bridge is a simple device that aids in interconnecting similar LAN s between local area networks that
use identical protocols for the physical and data link layers in accordance with the IEEE 802.3
standards. As the devices connected to the bridge use the same protocols, the amount of processing
required is minimal. Nowadays, routers are used more commonly to interconnect LAN s as bridges are
Layer 2 devices and pose almost no security while the router is a Layer 3 device and offers better Data
Security.
Routers:
Paraphrasing (Stallings, 2007) the function of routers is to get the packet to a destination network. The
router reads the header created by the Network Layer of the protocol stack on the source computer.
The router can be configured to filter by protocol, source ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Switch:
According to (Burke, 2004),A switch is a multiport bridge. When a switch receives a frame (A data
packet with address and other protocol information embedded), it amplifies the signal, looks at the
MAC address to determine which port should retransmit the frame to get it to the intended network
device and sends it to that port. The switch can be configured to disconnect any attached device, to
discard frames intended for an attached device, to send frames with a specific hardware address to
another hardware address instead and to copy a frame to a mirror port which can send it to an attached
traffic monitor.
Network Interface Card:
Every Computer that connects to a network must have a Network Interface Card (NIC). Most new
Computers have them built into the motherboard. It has one or sometimes more RJ45 socket(s) that
connect to a modem. The older and deprecated version used to have RJ11 sockets to connect to the
network. Due to it being extremely vulnerable to phreaking and war dialing, it has now been replaced

Source Anonymous Research Paper
Sit tight for the journey ahead as I explain to you, on my coffee induced, sleep deprived binge writing,
the ethics of source anonymity in journalism for the purpose of this paper, I will be writing about
Canada specifically. More specifically, I will touch upon the following: What is the reliability of the
source? Why would a source have to be kept anonymous? To what extent does a journalist keep a
source confidential? Firstly, I will go on to briefly describe the Canadian Act that protects whistle
blowers (the term used to describe someone who brings an issue to light, almost always in their
organization) and the shield law. Next, I will be discussing the ethics in keeping a source anonymous
from the utilitarian point of view, as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated in the CAJ Ethics Guidelines, under Promises to Sources, it is important to discuss with a
source wanting to be kept anonymous whether or not you, as a journalist, are willing to go to jail for
keeping them anonymous when ordered by a court. It is important to discuss with your source that, if
they mislead or lie to you about anything they say, the promise of keeping their anonymity is off.
There have been many cases of journalists going to jail for keeping a source anonymous, even in the
face of the law. If this doesn t show principle, then I don t know what does. There is also the aspect of
acting from duty: a journalist has the duty of reporting to the public in order for them to know the
truth about what s happening in the world. The right thing to do is to keep the source anonymous if it
means that an important story or high classified information will be out for the public to know it is
their right to know. In this perspective, a journalist does not look at their personal consequences
possible incarceration but on the nature of their action to liberate the truth. They have the good
intention, which makes it deontological. If we take a look at the first form of the categorical
imperatives, it follows this as well because of the way they act: keeping a promise they made. A
journalist also has true freedom because they have the autonomy to put themselves in a position of
being in a bad situation with the law, using their rationality to weigh the options of leaking a good
story or the possibility of suffering consequences for

Pepsi was originally founded in 1898 by Caleb Bradham, a New Bern, North Carolina, druggist, who first formulated Pepsi Cola. Coca Cola is a much better balance sheet than Pepsico, even managing to have more cash on hand than debt during much of this time frame (SeekingAlpha.com, 2012). After comparing the two it is companies, I would recommend that Coca Cola is the better pick as far as who to invest in if given the opportunity to invest in one or the other. Through analyzing the many ratios and utilizing the components to accurately rationalize the status of the financial stability of the two companies Coca Cola has proved to have a higher financial accountability. There are many factors that brought me to this conclusion. Just look at the statements you can see that Pepsi Co. has more liabilities than Coca Cola and that would generally be the case since Pepsi Co. has monies invested in other products and Cola does not have any other involvements in other products. If a frequent guest at one hotel was going to another hotel, someone at the first hotel would call that hotel and let them know about the guest before he walked in the door. Doing this consistently well as a global brand is challenging. (Mullich, 2011, online). • 4. Emily Dickinson Essay amp;#8220;Best Things dwell out of Sight ;(#998) describes one of America amp;#8217;s greatest poets. She dwelled out of sight for most of her life and her poems, with the exception of seven published anonymously, remained out of sight until well after her death. Many literary scholars have attempted a biography on this mysterious woman and poet and yet none are conclusive. Dickinson remains an enigma even today but biographical speculation allows us to analyze some of her poetry even though we may be completely inaccurate about what we presuppose. The men she corresponded with during her life include Benjamin Newton, a law student; Reverend Charles Wadsworth, a Philadelphia minister; Thomas Higginson, a literary critic and Civil War hero, and Otis Lord, a judge who had been her father amp;#8217;s closest friend. She regarded these men as intellectual advisers as well as friends. Although many of them found her poetry to be fascinating, none advised her to publish them. Dickinson wrote the majority of her poetry during the 1860 amp;#8217;s at which time she had become increasingly reclusive. She began wearing only white dresses and she hardly left her home, let alone Amherst. Although she occasionally visited friends, by the time she was forty years of age, she refused invitations to leave home and spent the remainder of her life taking care of her parents until they died (her father died in 1847, her mother died in 1882). Reforming Inequality Research Paper Reforming Inequality Despite dipping below ten percent between the late 1960 s and early 1970 s, the income gap in the United States has climbed steadily over the last fifty years. From its low point in 1973, the wealthiest Americans income share now exceeds even that which they held in 1928, on the eve of the Great Depression. Experts have pointed to several potential culprits, including the underrepresentation of lower and middle class citizens in legislatures, the shrinking power of organized labor, the expanding power of organized business, and a tax system that seems to disproportionately favor those at the top at the expense of those on the bottom. These factors vary greatly in level of impact and the feasibility of potential solutions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No matter how effective a plan may be at the former, if it cannot succeed at the latter it will never be implemented. Convincing enough voters to support the tax plan will be extremely difficult, due to both the high levels of ideological opposition to taxes and the resources and organizational strength of the measure s primary opponents. Per an April 2016 Gallup poll, 61% of Americans believe that the wealthy pay too little in taxes (Gallup), so Americans at least agree in principle that taxes should be increased for the wealthy. Additionally, by emphasizing elements of the measure that could appeal to conservative voters, such as keeping money from leaving the economy, candidates could generate crossover appeal to both conservative and liberal parts of the electorate. The chief difficulty, ultimately, will be overcoming the formidable organizations those with a vested interest in keeping taxes low can bring to bear. Just as they did in the 1970 s, business and financial leaders will marshal their extensive capacity to launch multi faceted campaigns (Hacker 125), exerting pressure on incumbent candidates to distance themselves from the new tax policy and organizing opposition via advertising, political action committees, and donations. • 8. Unemployment On The Us Economy Essay Name: Instructor: Subject: Date: Unemployment in US economy The unemployment turnover view has a strong base on the contemporary thinking about unemployment in the entire United States. Joblessness or unemployment takes place when an individual searches for another new job and devotes most of time searching for another job. Moreover, unemployment comes into being if an individual goes in search of a new employment after being out of labor force for a long time. The individuals in search of employment get employed in monthly duration in a range of 10% to 40%. The unemployment varies directly with separation rate and varies indirectly with the rate of searching for a job. For a long time, labor market students have believed that the time of acute rise in unemployment or recession were due to increased rates of separation from jobs and decreased rates of finding jobs. From this perspective, the period of recession starts by the trend of layoffs. The trends of layoffs are mainly done in industries of durable goods. As labor market gets crowded with those seeking for employment, the rate of finding jobs decreases and the after unemployment duration rises. In contrary, recent research and data have disapproved this argument. The new perspective views separations as to have no contribution to the increased problems of unemployment during the period of recession. The reason behind increased unemployment during the recession is difficulties in finding jobs, not the dumping of those ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The preceding three years were three years of significant hardship that took a toll on the nation s morale. He won the presidency in a landslide vote over the fairly conservative incumbent Herbert Hoover showing the American people were desperate for changes that could restore the nation to economic prosperity seen in the 1920 s. Once he was inaugurated, he quickly jumped into action. In the first couple of years of his presidency he passed legislation that created a few dozen government programs trying to fix anything from unemployment to fraud in the stock market. Most of these programs were successful. By the 1940 s, most of the public s confidence had been restored as well, exemplifying the extent of the success of the New Deal. Franklin D. Roosevelt s New Deal was successful because it created programs that restored the public s morale and that brought relief to many Americans. As of a result of the government programs created by the New Deal, restoring American morale was a success. The Tennessee Valley was hit very hard by the economic downturn. In an ideal world, a society where everyone is treated equally and sin does not exist, is the definition of a perfect society. However, what many people neglect to understand is that they are striving to reach a goal that is nearly impossible to accomplish. A utopian society is nearly impossible to have because of power imbalances, different values, and the existence of sin. All of which are a part of human nature, and controlling the actions and feelings of humans cannot easily be done, especially without the use of extensive technological devices. The power imbalances in The Scarlet Letter exhibit examples of unequally. Inequality, as many of us realize, is not a characteristic of a Utopian society. Throughout the novel, we observe many people with titles such as Governor Bellingham and Minister Reverend Dimmesdale. Titles, such as these, communicate to the audience their authoritative role in story. It also allows the readers to become informed about the power imbalances that often occur within any society. Governor Bellingham and Reverend Dimmesdale possess certain rights and powers that the puritan community does not have. For example, the governor had the authority to put Hester Prynne in prison after she committed adultery. Introduction: Over the counter products are effective in the management of self limiting conditions, but also pose danger of misuse. Loperamide or Imodium, is a common over the counter (OTC) drug primarily used for the treatment of diarrhea. As a synthetic µ opioid receptor agonist, loperamide increases intestinal transit time by decreasing intestinal motility and modifies intestinal transport of water and electrolytes by stimulating absorption, all which are beneficial in the treatment of diarrhea.1 However, what makes loperamide truly attractive is its lack of the analgesic effects in therapeutic and supra therapeutic doses.1 All this is true, when loperamide is taken as directed. Unfortunately, it is not being taken as directed and has had serious negative health outcomes for those misusing and abusing it. When conducting studies to quantify loperamide s abuse potential, the maximum dose used was 60mg,2 it never occurred to us, that mega daily doses of up to 400mg would ever be used.3 Sadly, this is the reality of the times in which we live in and if pharmacists are to be of help, we must quickly adapt. Obviously opioid misuse is not a new thing, and is definitely not exclusive to a particular geographic location.4 Opioid policies and regulations set in place to limit and restrict physicians prescribing, though with good intent, have created a complex pool of patients that turn to other sources of opioids5. Welch is also interested in a way to forecast these changes. His assembled theory, which I will evaluate in greater depth, is termed the Loss Aversion Theory of Foreign Policy Change . This Theory entails three hypotheses on the conditions under which we can expect and, more importantly, predict changes in foreign policy. The purpose was to help deregulate PTC and rescind the push through of a rate increase. If they shut down PDS, PTC would have to pay the market rate for their data needs, which will increase this cost by two fold. Additional issues to take into consideration are the burdens of finding alternate use for the space PDS is currently renting and the opportunity cost of wages being paid to the PDS employees. Can we invest the wage pay somewhere else for a higher return? Asking these questions demonstrates the value of looking at PDS in depth to determine if more value exists than appears within the initial reports. Digging deeper, the first number we examine is how many computer hours PDS has to sell to break even. We will assume the intercompany hours billed at $400 will average 205 per month. The variable costs include power, parts of operation wages, and materials. Next, we calculate the unit contribution (sales variable cost). • 28. Different Theories Of Psychology, And Beliefs And... Everyone has their own philosophy about the way we live our lives, and how we follow a certain path to get to our destination. One s philosophy may be based on their religious beliefs, what they were taught growing up, or both. I was raised Christian and many of the beliefs I have stems from my Christian roots. I was always told God was the reason a person behaved a certain way or the devil. Now that I am older, and mostly due to my college education, I see the world differently. Before learning about the different theories in psychology, and the beliefs and techniques that come with them, I had applied many to my own life before. I am spiritual and I believe that many people are born with destinies. I believe we are all on a path predetermined for us and that we take many detours along the way. If we take the wrong detour, whether it be days, months, or years, something drastic will happen to get us back on the right path. When we make friends, they either work out, or something awful happens that ends the friendship. Once the air has been cleared, one can realize that a certain person was leading us down the wrong path. The way we live life is largely influenced by the company we keep and our upbringing. I have friends who were born in corrupt neighborhoods to parents who were on drugs and they went down the same trail as them. Their environment played a large part in how they chose to live their lives. Some people have a biological predisposition for drugs, and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Living Conditions of Industrial Cities in the 19th Century What Were Living Conditions Like in 19th Century Industrial Cities? The living conditions in the Industrial Revolution varied from city to city depending on how much the factory owners cared for their workers or how much industry went on there. The Industrial Revolution gained pace during Victoria s reign because of the power of steam. Victorian engineers developed larger powerful machines that could run whole factories. This led to a massive increase in the number of factories. Despite the growing wealth due to trade and commerce, many of the working people, who actually produced the wealth, lived, worked and died in very poor conditions. The Industrial Revolution was stimulated by Britain s gargantuan empire and its growing level of trade. There was increased demand for the export of goods from Britain and greater pressure on importing goods into Britain. The industrialisation of Britain s towns and cities had a detrimental effect on the people who came to live there. Living conditions in the 1800s were incredibly unequal. The rich and powerful factory owners would live out in the quiet peaceful countryside with lots of creature comforts, whilst their workers would return into smelly, dirty and minuscule back to back terraces at the end of a long working day. These homes were usually built with no inside toilets or running water. People either washed in a tin bath or at a pump outside. Many people decided not to wash at all as it was the easiest option. The Justification of Reverse Discrimination in Hiring Essay In The Justification of Reverse Discrimination in Hiring, Tom Beauchamp displays statistics of underrepresented races and genders in institutions. The inequality is due to the underlying persistent racism originating decades ago. It has been pervasively executed despite federal laws for equality. The expectation for a level playing field is not a reality, as statistically show with underrepresented African Americans (1. Beauchamp, CC2011, p 0228). Beauchamp points out that at first sight, reverse discrimination appears immoral, because it crafts a prejudice for one race over another. If a minority with disadvantages reaches the same qualifications as an advantaged Caucasian, the minority is more deserving, indicative of the increased effort needed to put in. Fairness is a necessary condition in Rachels argument and minorities that are qualified for institutions are generalized to have put in more sweat. In some cases when this generalization is true, preferential treatment is considered fair. To establish a level playing field, Beauchamp suggests a policy of strong affirmative action. This includes quotas to be implemented and supported by government sanctions in a timely manner. Commitment to quotas will statistically show progress towards a society built on equality. Beauchamp believes that laws are ineffectively implemented and it is unclear to tell if institutions are intentionally discriminating unless numbers are available (5. Beauchamp, CC2011, p 0230). Beauchamp s policy is an argument where the end result morally justifies the method to get there. However, Rachels suggests a moderate form of reverse discrimination where in a pool of equally qualified candidates, those challenged by unearned disadvantages get preference. This consequentialist argument suggests that young minorities do not have role models or mentors to emulate. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is a fine line that must be walked when deciding what should be censored. If the answer to that is no then I don t think that the government should censor it. However, I do think that we have seen examples, recently right here in Tuscaloosa where some kind of government censorship should have been exercised. Milton s work which pre dated the issue of the freedom of the press quite a bit laid the groundwork for opposing censorship. I believe he had a point, when you allow too much censorship you essentially put all the power in one group of people s hands, the ones deciding what to censor. On the other hand, when you ban censorship then a system of checks and balances exists. For example, the new President, Donald Trump has been discussing censoring specific federal agency websites, specifically the EPA s website on climate change. That sort of censorship is bad. Firstly, I will go on to briefly describe the Canadian Act that protects whistle blowers (the term used to describe someone who brings an issue to light, almost always in their organization) and the shield law. Next, I will be discussing the ethics in keeping a source anonymous from the utilitarian point of view, as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As stated in the CAJ Ethics Guidelines, under Promises to Sources, it is important to discuss with a source wanting to be kept anonymous whether or not you, as a journalist, are willing to go to jail for keeping them anonymous when ordered by a court. It is important to discuss with your source that, if they mislead or lie to you about anything they say, the promise of keeping their anonymity is off. There have been many cases of journalists going to jail for keeping a source anonymous, even in the face of the law. If this doesn t show principle, then I don t know what does. There is also the aspect of acting from duty: a journalist has the duty of reporting to the public in order for them to know the truth about what s happening in the world. The right thing to do is to keep the source anonymous if it means that an important story or high classified information will be out for the public to know it is their right to know. In this perspective, a journalist does not look at their personal consequences possible incarceration but on the nature of their action to liberate the truth. They have the good intention, which makes it deontological. If we take a look at the first form of the categorical imperatives, it follows this as well because of the way they act: keeping a promise they made. A journalist also has true freedom because they have the autonomy to put themselves in a position of being in a bad situation with the law, using their rationality to weigh the options of leaking a good story or the possibility of suffering consequences for ...
