The Role Of Iris In Greek Mythology
Iris was the goddess of the rainbow in Greek mythology. Iris traveled on the rainbow to earth to
give messages to the humans. She appeared in front of people in a humanly way to reveal the
orders of Zeus or of any god to them. Iris was not only the goddess of the rainbows but she was
also a messenger, the gods messenger. Iris also had another duty, she carried the water from the
Styx River every time the gods had to take a solemn oath. Her duty might seem like an easy duty,
but it was actually very important one. It was very important for Iris to take the gods the water, if
she didn t they couldn t have swore by it.

Iris was the daughter of Thauma who was the sea god, and Electra who was the ocean nymph. She

offspring which they named Eros. During the war between the Olympians and
Titans, Iris was fighting on the Olympians side. Even though, her sister, Arke, was on the side of
the Titans. Iris sister, Arke, betrayed the Olympians and sided with the Titans to be their

Olympians. Iris was important because without her the humans on earth would not know the gods
desires or what they wanted.
Iris had a couple of strengths one of them being faithful to her husband, Hera, and to the
Olympians as well. She also had a couple of weaknesses such as her defined role in life. The
archetype that she represents is a servant because she is always available for the ones who need her
or are above her level. I learned that Iris overall had a very calm life other than being

Taxation In Nigeria Essay
TAXATION AND FISCAL REGULATIONS IN NIGERIA
INTRODUCTION
The Nigerian Tax System has undergone significant changes in recent times. The Tax Laws are
being reviewed with the aim of repelling obsolete provisions and simplifying the main ones. Under
current Nigerian law, taxation is enforced by the 3 tiers of Government, i.e. Federal, State, and
Local Government with each having its sphere clearly spelt out in the Taxes and Levies (approved
list for Collection) Decree, 1998. Of importance at this juncture however are tax regulations
pertaining to investors both foreign and local.
The importance of tax regulations cannot be over emphasized, as most transactions with any

Where however the taxpayer is a non resident company or individual the tax will only be levied on
the amount received or brought into Nigeria.
Computation of capital gains tax is done by deducting from the sum received or receivable from
the cost of acquisition to the person realizing the chargeable gain plus expenditure incurred on the
improvement or expenses incidental to the realization of the asset. b. Value Added Tax(VAT)
This was introduced by the VAT decree No. 2 of 1993, to replace the old sales tax. It is a
consumption tax levied at each stage of the consumption chain, and is borne by the final
consumer. It requires a taxable person upon registering with the Federal Board of Inland Revenue
to charge and collect VAT at a flat rate of 5% of all invoiced amounts of taxable goods and services.
VAT paid by a business on purchases is known as input tax, which is recovered from VAT charged
on company s sales, known as output tax. If output exceeds input in any particular month the
excess is remitted to the Federal Board Of Inland Revenue (FBIR) but where input exceeds output
the taxpayer is entitled to a refund of the excess from FBIR though in practice this is not always
possible.
A Taxpayer however has the option of recovering excess input from excess output of a subsequent
period. It should be stated at this point that recoverable input is limited to VAT on goods imported

Homosexuality In Gatsby
Many people believe Nick has romantic feelings toward Gatsby, but many are in disbelief. There are
various amounts of instances throughout the book where Nick makes unobvious homosexual
comments or remarks. When this book was written, being homosexual was mistaken, very frowned
upon, and even illegal. F. Scott Fitzgeraldhad to make the topic of homosexuality very quiet, just
like the alcohol and the bootlegging. Alcohol and bootlegging are just as illegal as
homosexuality, sp F. Scott Fitzgerald made it very hard to pick out these topics. Nick has to keep
his feelings toward Gatsby to himself, and has only ever says something homoeratic to Gatsby
once. Every other time Nick makes a gay remark, it is too himself as he writes about... Show more

Nick sees Gatsby s flaws after he dies, but was blinded to them while he was alive.
Before Gatsby dies, Nick says the one thing to Gatsby that people can argue is a homosexual
statement, and definitely proves how Nick has been blinded to Gatsby s flaws. Nick says to
Gatsby, They re a rotten crowd...You re worth the whole damn bunch put together (Fitzgerald
154). Nick saying this can be controversial in a couple of ways. When Nick says The whole damn
bunch put together , he is mostly referring to Gatsby, Daisy, Tom and Jordan. Daisy is his cousin
and that makes Tom family by marriage. Jordan is a woman Nick had a romantic relationship
with. For Nick to say that Gatsby, out of all these people, is the best out of them shows a lot
about Nick and his feelings toward Gatsby. For him to choose a man he had recently met over
his family or someone he has had a relationship with is very interesting. Most people will choose
their family or someone they are romantically involved with over a friend. Thus proving that
Gatsby is more than a friend to Nick. This statement can also be controversial because Gatsby is
not a saint. Daisy, Tom, and Jordan are all terrible people. Daisy lead on two men at the same
time, one being her husband. Daisy also killed a woman and will not take the blame for it. Tom
cheats on his wife with the wife of one of his

Growing Rate Of Incoming Streaming Data Essay
1.4.5 SCALABILITY
Growing rate of incoming streaming data is indefinite. Even though the arrival rate of update
transactions are not predefined, system processor has to adapt the stream data flow as it grows
continuously. Adaptive Stream Query Processor is designed and implemented to execute
continuous queries and to adapt indefinite data flow by clustering, proper indexing so as to reduce
the storage space and fast retrieval of streaming data.
STREAM PROCESSOR
Streaming processing is the ideal platform to process data streams. Stream processing is designed to
analyze and act on real time streaming data, using continuous queries i.e. SQL type queries that
operate over time and buffer windows. Essential to stream analytics is Stream Processing, or the
ability to continuously calculate mathematical or statistical analytics on the fly within the stream.
Stream processing solutions are designed to handle high volume in real time with a scalable, highly
available and fault tolerant architecture. This enables analysis of data in motion. Finally query
processing is used to retrieve useful information from the stream data.
A Stream Query Processor is proposed to achieve fast retrieval of streaming data. Stream Query
Processor architecture is represented in Fig. 1.2. volume Figure 1.2 Stream Processor Input data are
arriving as stream continuously. The incoming data are time variant and embedded with timestamp.

The Role of Malvolio in Twelfth Night Essay
The Role of Malvolio in Twelfth Night
The main storyline in Twelfth Night is love between Cesario, Orsino, Olivia and later on in the
play Sebastian. Malvolio s part in the play is a backdrop situation separate from the main story. He
brings a level of both humour and sympathy to the play. Malvolio is one of the main sources of
humour in Twelfth Night. In the later part of the play a different side of him is exposed.
Malvolio is Olivia s steward and his job is to manage Olivia s house; he is her chief servant. It s a
very responsible job that he takes very seriously. He enjoys telling people what to do.
During the course of the play Malvolio can be seen in many different lights. At the ... Show more

Twelfth Night is referring to the twelfth night after Christmas, Epiphany. Today, the Twelfth Night
after Christmas means the day we take down the decorations, but back in 1600 when the play
was written it had a different meaning. Epiphany was a time for celebrating and partying. People
used to have parties on Twelfth Night and it was traditional to play practical jokes at this time.
These included tricks such as hiding live birds in an empty pie case, so that they flew away when
the startled guests cut open the crusts. It was a mad time full of pranks and confusion, just as in the
play. This name, Twelfth Night , therefore seems appropriate for this play due to all the confusion
and the banter that goes on in the confusing storyline.
In Twelfth Night we see different types of humour. There is the word play, the vulgar humour of
Sir Toby, stupidity of Sir Andrew, Malvolio s foolishness , and the general confusion caused by
Viola s disguise.
Shakespeare used dirty and witty humour in most of his plays but it is perhaps most obvious in
Twelfth Night. He used different types of humour to please all of the people who flocked to see
his plays. There was always an array of people, and they all needed to be kept interested. There
were the peasants that he could entertain with the dirty jokes and humour. An example of this is

Contracts Case Study: Property

In this case study, Barney is a client that running into an extreme case of misfortune facing several
issues that must be resolved in court. The issues will be outlined below with information to help
properly set Barney s expectations of his upcoming battle to keep his possessions. I have grouped
the issues based on the calls listed to the attorney in the case study.
Issue #1 mountain property that is currently in process of foreclosing includes a squatter
Barney is on his way out to his mountain property to do some fly fishing when he was welcomed
by a hostile participant. Barney tried to explain that he had the deed to prove the property belonged

In a similar case in Lakewood, Ohio, the Saleets were about to have their home, along with their
neighbors homes, taken to build new higher end condominiums. The mayor of the city had
pressed for the new development as a way to strengthen the tax base. In the end, the Lakewood
residents were able to reject the proposed development, remove the blight label from their
neighborhood and also voted the mayor out (Leung, 2009). Yes, the new resort would create jobs
to manage the resort, and increase the city s income and taxes, however, the area does not qualify
as one that requires this sort of enhancement. As stated in the Institute For Justice (2013) website
The justification the City had offered for the takings was that a new development would create
more jobs and taxes, but keep this in mind: anyone s home or small business would generate more
taxes as a shopping mall. If that can justify such takings, then literally no home or business would
be safe from this kind of abuse at the hands of government (para.3). Should Barney be unable to
win the opportunity to keep his home, fighting at least gives the chance to help get the best
available amount for what qualifies as full market value.
Issue #3 Auto theft gone wrong
While Barney is at local town authorities fighting for his beach property, he bumps into an old
girlfriend. He invites her to a fancy restaurant for dinner despite their casual attire. As Barney pulls

The Creation Story Of Adam And Eve Analysis
By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you
were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return . In The Creation Story of Adam and Eve
, those are the words God tells Adam and Eve when they failed to obey God s only rule, not eat
from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Throughout the story we follow their relationship with
God, in the events that began with their creation and ended in their exile. Therefore, in my sole
opinion based on The Creation of Adam and Eve, the story depicts Adamand Eve s relationship with
God and the underlying meaning of their existence and the oedipal conflict that is portrayed. It
suggests that maybe the story is a tale told in order to understand why we exist and our personal
purpose as well as to recognize the effects of the authoritarian commands God expressed to
Adam and Eve. The phrase existence precedes essence as told by Sartre means, we exist first and
then we do things that define ourselves and live our lives in whatever way we choose. This is the
case in, The Creation Story of Adam and Eve , when God created Adam from the dust of the
ground and Eve from one of Adam s ribs. He brought them to life in the Garden of Eden, but it was
up to them to create a purpose to exist. Therefore, Adam and Eve s actions of disobedience were
perhaps a way of God testing humankind by showing them paradise (Garden of Eden) and what
we were to lose if we d disobeyed him. God gave Adam a garden to take care of, animals to name,
and a wife for companionship. And they both got banished from paradise for choosing to have
the freedom of disobeying and as a result they have to be responsible for their actions. For
instance, in the Existentialism Lecture , it says that from an existentialist point of view, We must
choose what to do, where to go, and most importantly, what is meaningful to us and why. With
choice comes two related concepts: freedom and responsibility . Eve s wrongful actions are the
cause of why women to this day have had to fight harder than men to achieve their place in
society. As for Adam, his actions brought men to work for a living, which nothing in life is easy,
and you have to strive for it, it

Comparing One Flew Over The Cookoo s Nest And The Movie
In the 1950 s, clashes between communism and capitalism have dominated the decade. Although
it wasn t always easy, the United States experienced an important economic and home
construction growth. The fifty s weren t always easy but it made place to a lot of improvement in
the US government and in the society. In this text I will talk to you about the similarities and
differences between the novel One Flew Over the Cookoo s Nest and the movie. First of all, the
story took place in hospitalin Oregon in the late fifty s and early sixty s. The World War II is still
present in the community s head. The hospital is a world of regulations, routine, and discipline
in which Nurse Ratched has a full control. Nurse Ratched also does all what she can to keep the
outside world away from the patients. Chief Bromden, the narrator, has been a patient in the
Oregon psychiatric hospital for ten years. Bromden suffers from paranoia and it is very easy to
understand all along the story. In the hospital, all the patient are men and they are all divided on a
particular way. All the men that can not be cured are together and all the others that can be cured
and together too. The hospital is ruled by Miss Rached, an army Nurse that is very mechanical.
Everything starts when Randle McMurphyenters the hospital. Bromden see s right away that
McMurphy is not like the other patients. After experiencing his first meeting directed by nurse
Ratched, McMurphy tells the other patients that the nurse is a

Sex Role Theory Essay
1.Why do men commit more crimes then women and why is this? It is said that men commit
more crimes then women (Kreinert 2003). Many people ask why men commit more crimes it is
simply because men tend to be more violent than that of women (Kreinert 2003). When women
do commit crimes they like to commit social norms compared to men. Men are known to
commit more crimes because of their masculinity(Kreinert 2003).I think this is also because
women tend to be more truthful then that of men when it comes down to finding out the facts.
What is sex role theory and what does it argue? Sex role theory is a theory that focuses on boys
and girls and how they are socialized differently (Sulak 2014). I personally think that girls are
more supervised then that of men. Women are also less aggressive than men ( Sulak 2014).Men
are more likely to take risks as well with is why they are said to commit more crime. Edwin... Show

Some don t like being labeled well others accept the label that they are given (Ascani 2012).Law
enforcement is not the only ones who are involved in labeling juveniles. Labeling could be by
the people they know or even the people within the neighborhood in which they live (Ascani
2012). Why do juveniles choose to commit crime and why? Juveniles commit crimes for a
number of reasons. I personally think that juveniles commit crimes because they live in poverty.
They also commit these series of crimes because they live in a bad neighborhood (Ziiadova
2004). Being in a gang is the main reason why Juveniles choose to commit crimes. When
juveniles are involved in gangs they feel like they actually have a family who cares for
them(Ziiadova 2004) These people that in gangs most of the time don t care and use others to

Zora Neale Hurston Analysis
Zora Neale Hurston was able to offer a feminine opinion in a time when writing was primarily
dominated by males. This evidently demonstrated a difference in her work in comparison to her
male counterparts. For instance, During this time writers such as W.E.B. Du Bois and Langston
Hughes were analogous to black activist and spoke up for their race, discussing inequality and
examining the negative issues at play while offering strategies to combat those issues and bring
about change. For instance, Dubois spoke greatly about black upliftment through the process of
higher education and urged blacks to stand up for what they believed and not conform to
passiveness. This is depicted when Dubois states the way for a people to gain their reasonable

Paracas Candelabra Research Paper
Around 200 BC, according to carbon dated pottery found on the Paracas Peninsula at Pisco Bay
in Peru, a mysterious image, called the Paracas Candelabra or Candelabra of the Andes, was
made in the sand surrounded by large stones. It is 600 feet tall, 2 feet deep and resembles the
image of candelabra. The symbol can be seen as far as 12 miles out to sea. There are many
rumors as to what this symbol represented whether it be religious, a sailing navigation tool, a
huge seismograph or even that it could be referencing a certain hallucinogenic plant. The first
suggestion of what the Paracas Candelabra could be was related to religious ideas. In South
America, a god named Viracocha, who was the creator god in Incan mythology and who was
highly worshipped. The people who worshipped the god believe the image to be that of the
lightening rod or staff carried by Viracocha. The also believed that Viracocha would help people
during times of trouble and the people of Paracas created the image to help him find his way to
them. Another religious idea came about by the Conquistadors who believed that the image was
actually representing the Holy Trinity. They took this symbol to be a sign that they should continue
their quest to Christianize any of the locals that they could find.... Show more content on

years, the sailors could have carved the image into the sand. But some are still skeptical as to why

The Community Health Profiles For The Mott Haven And...
In vulnerable communities like the South Bronx, where economic opportunities are limited,
populations are at high risk for various adverse outcomes that are impediments to community
growth and well being. Two statistics from the 2015 Community Health Profiles for the Mott
Haven Melrose neighborhoods in the South Bronx are particularly revealing when compared to the
fifty eight other New York City (NYC) communities that were assessed: 1) Mott Haven Melrose
ranks fourth for incarcerations. Its 305 incarcerations per 100,000 adults is nearly twice the Bronx
rate and three times the NYC rate, and 2) Mott Haven Melrose ranks seventh for elementary
school absenteeism. Its 31 percent absenteeism rate is over 1.5 times that of the NYC rate (NYC
DOHMH, 2015). Given that 59 percent of incarcerated individuals in New York State are parents
of children under the age of 18, it is clear that the imprisonment of these criminal offenders does not
happen in a vacuum (NYS DOCCS, 2013).
Many of these incarcerated men and women play various roles in their communities. They are
parents, siblings, sons, and daughters and have family members who depend upon them for social
and economic support. The incarceration of a parent has a particularly destabilizing role in a child s
life, oftentimes leaving the child in the care of a single parent, relative, or foster home (Levy
Pounds, 2006). Parental incarceration is considered an Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE), a

Congenital Heart Defect s ( Chd )
Congenital Heart Defect s (CHD) affect about 1% of all births in the United States or about
40,000 babies per year (www.CDC.gov). Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) is a CHD that accounts for
an estimated 10% of these births. There are many factors that are involved in the diagnosis,
treatment and quality of life for these children. The effects of the CHD vary in severity,
therefore the effects it has on a child s life vary. The etiology of TOF, how specific organs, cells,
and tissues are affected, and what organ systems are affected will all be discussed and explained. .
The effects vary greatly between patients this paper will focus on the average effects of this
condition in order to provide a better understanding of TOF.
TOF is a CHD which means the abnormal development of the heart occurred during gestation .A
normal heart consists of four chambers of cardiac muscle cells, four heart valves, an electrical
pathway, and its own blood supply. The chambers are the Right Atrium (RA) , Right Ventricle (
RV), Left Atrium,(LA) , and the Left Ventricle ( LV). The blood flows from the Vena Cava to the
RA thru the Tricuspid Valve to the RV. It then gets ejected thru the Pulmonary Valve into the
Pulmonary Artery, and on into the lungs. It returns to the LA, goes thru the Mitral Valve into the
LV, and then is ejected thru the Aortic Valve into the aorta and onto systemic circulation. TOF is
identified by four atypical finding within the heart.

The End Of The Traditional Family Era
The End of the Traditional Family Era Families have changed significantly over the last decades,
leading the ideal traditional American family to become, if not already, extinct. Although popular in
the 1950 s, a traditional family is no longer sought after as modern families have evolved to
incorporate diversity and acceptance into the household structure. In present day, the majority of
households encompass non traditional families, accordion families, divorce, and modern
technology. Traditional families have been thought to consist of a heterosexual male and female
joined together in marriage. However in modern society, the terms marriage and familyare not
limited to a specific definition. Gay marriages have led the revolution in changing the concept of
families. From New York s Marriage Equality Act in 2011, to the Supreme Court s ruling of
legalizing gay marriage throughout the United States in 2015, marriage equality has come a long
way. Same sex couples have the opportunity to marry their significant other, while also having the
option to grow their family through adoption or artificial insemination. In Visual Portfolio, the TV
show, Modern Family, introduces a contemporary version of Norman Rockwell s Freedom From
Want (Colombo et al. 59). Modern Family s picture features a same sex couple with their adopted
daughter, and an interracial couple. The picture shows the diversity, love, and acceptance included

Romantic love remains one of the most importance themes in virtually all cultures art; in Japanese
and Indian art, although with different historical contexts and therefore interpretations, continues to
be no exception. Kitigawa Utamaro prevailed as one of the most important artists under the ukiyo e
genres, focusing on the beauty of women in the hedonistic and rigidly organized Tokugawa period
as it enjoyed stability the island yearned for. Of an unknown artist of the Rajasthani school in
neighboring Madhya Pradesh, foreign powers from the Mughal Empire to the Portuguese slowly

The print portrays a man and a woman under a futon, assumedly intimately. The soft colors of
pink and green of their clothes and of the mattress on them further affirm the softness of the piece;
they are lovers. Although the man s attire contrasts with that of the woman, it is difficult to
discern where their bodies apart. Just like how the futon is both green and pink like the man and
woman s robes respectively, the piece is supposed to indicate a romantic union between the two.
The patterns on the futon and robe help add dimension to the print, which would later be reprinted
for the consumption of the merchant class in the Tokugawa period. It is particularly important to
note how Utamaro portrays the woman; women by Utamaro not only had an idealized form with
slender features, but she barely resembles the common woman of the period with her impossible
proportions. In direct contrast with the realism movement and their aspiration in portraying people
the way they truly are, Utamaro s depiction of women and romance are dreamily hedonistic just
like many Vogue editorials. Lovers under a Futon is truly romantic, with a sense of equality
between the two people; she is not there to serve him or vice versa. Instead, the couple is both

the project life and discuss the effects of scope changes on project performance?
Since the early stages, the project was inundated with concerns and issues with the project
scope. From the perspective of project management, the initial scope was not defined well
enough. Details of the design were over looked and aspects such as the details of the air
conditioning ended up increasing the original scope by $200 million. This supposedly led a
prosperous project to an uncertain economic ordeal. Initial estimates of the project had been $5.5
billion and by the time of its actual completion it been delayed by a year and increased to $15

Beowulf as a Pagan Oral Tradition Essay
The unknown author of Beowulf uses examples throughout the poem that suggest the story comes
from an oral tradition. In the poem Beowulf, a Germanic scop, or bard, recites poetry orally, or in
a song, usually telling stories about historical triumphs and adventures. These poets were referred
to in this epic poem as carriers of tales..., traditional singer[s] deeply schooled in the lore[s] of the
past (Beowulf50). This was common in Germanic culture. Scops would keep folkloric heroes alive
in the oral tradition. They passed down stories orally from one generation to the next.
The Beowulf poet himself imagines such oral performances by having King Hrothgar s court poet
recite a heroic lay at a feast celebrating Beowulf s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this example the unknown poet of Beowulf does not go into detail about the poets song, as he
does in the others, but it is still an example that the oral tradition is alive in the text.
Beowulf was obviously, in its origin, a pagan text. There are several examples of pagan elements
throughout the story. The belief in wergild, a term meaning man price, is one of the strongest of
these ideas. It also incorporates the pagan ideas of fate, the fashion in which lords are buried, and
symbols of paganism. The text is clearly one that tells a Germanic heroic narrative, which is not
acceptable to the Judeo Christian ideals.
The belief in wergild is very similar to the idea of an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. If one[s]
kinsmen had been slain, a man had a moral obligation either to kill the slayer or to exact the
payment of wergild in compensation (Beowulf 30). It was also shameful to not take revenge or
to exact compensation (Beowulf 30). This idea is exemplified throughout the entire text. Since no
man price could be paid for Grendel s slaying of Hrothgar s people, Grendel had to be slain. So he
overcame the foe, brought down the hell brute. Broken and bowed, outcast from all sweetness, the
enemy of mankind made for his death den.

The Story Of American Slavery
For the story of American slavery to be complete, it has to include the ills of the system, the
changes created in the aftermath of emancipation and the precipitous slide down into the sins of
segregation. Many books about slavery and the brutality of the life that so many people had to
endure have been written over the years. In this book, David Blight tells the story about two men,
John M. Washington (1838 1918) and Wallace Turnage (1846 1916) and their escape from slavery
during the Civil War. Their escape to freedom occurred during the chaos of this nation s most
bloody war and amidst a political and cultural conflict, which had been ripping the country apart for
many decades.
Throughout the Civil War, in thousands of different circumstances, under changing policies and
redefinitions of their status, and in the face of social chaos caused by huge military campaigns
and destruction, four million slaves helped to decide what time it would be in American History
(Blight, 2007, p. 5). Whether it was freedom from a master or overseer, freedom from living as
both property and the object of another person s will, or even freedom to make their own
decisions and control their own life, slaves wanted a sense of independence. According to Blight
(2007), The war and the presence of Union armies and navies opened pathways to freedom for
them, as it did many slaves (p. 6). Both Washington and Turnage found their path to freedom in
their own unique way, and both accounts are

chapters, Joe and Clarissa witness a ballooning accident in which a man dies. This event is an
emotional shock for both of them. On that day, they meet Jed Parry, a Christian fanatic. The
same night, he phones Joe saying I love you , but Joe, too scared of Parry and of worrying

The Doctrine Of Primal Sin Essay
Augustine on the doctrine of primal sin focuses on the downfall of Lucifer, and whether or not
he foreknew there would be consequences in turning away from God. However, it is arguable
that Lucifer did foresee his coming downfall. Because his intentional actions in turning away from
God goes against his angelic nature, which means he had to deliberately had to deprive himself of
the greatest of goods, and actively pursue misery. For Lucifer perversely chooses to abandon all
that is good by turning away from God, and towards what is contrary of Him, which is nothingness.
That in which, on behalf of Augustine, I will argue that Lucifer did foresee the coming of his
downfall. For Lucifer chose to bolster the vices of his will, which became the very means of
degenerating his angelic nature. Consequently, this means Lucifer intentionally pursued what is
contrary to the God, thus leading to his fall.
In behalf of Augustine, it is arguable that Lucifer foreknew his actions in rebelling against God
was going to bring about a particular consequence. For it is significant to understand the
development of the vices which enables Lucifer to fall. For Augustine explains in book 12,
chapter 1; all Angels recognize a common good in their nature which is to cleave to God.
However, in order for Lucifer to turn away from the divine graces of God, he must then deny his
angelic nature. For the act of rejecting his angelic nature, originates from the particular good
bestowed by God. Because it

HR Managers need to be alert to potential harassment and discrimination issues and act
appropriately, either directly or through the appropriate line manager/s. They also must be able to
give impartial and expert advice to people involved in harassment and discrimination cases, both
complainants and alleged offenders.
Victims of harassment in particular may need support and reassurance about the Center s policy
and procedures as well as assurance of confidentiality. The HR Manager should identify appropriate
sources of professional counseling for victims at/for each duty station.
Assisting management in establishing avenues of assistance at all duty stations
While the HR Manager is usually the ultimate source of expert advice and guidance on harassment
and discrimination in each Center, she/he obviously cannot be at every duty station simultaneously.
The HR Manager may even operate in a different time zone than some of the Center s duty stations.
Consequently staff members at all duty stations who may be experiencing harassment need to have
immediate avenues of assistance. These would either be at their duty station or for their duty
station if it has a very small staff.
A good contingency plan for avenues of assistance will have (but not necessarily be limited to) the

There is a justified alarming concern on vaccines, not only in the population worldwide, but also in

Sigmund Freud
Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, studied medicine and became a doctor, however;
his interests were primarily focused on research. He is the product of intelligent influences from
many important philosophers such as; Ernst Brucke, Charles Darwin and Joseph Breuer, who he
met in medical school after some studies together mostly on Anna O., coauthored Studies on
Hysteria (Goodwin, 2008). One of the most noted and controversial theory s from Freud was
possibly his psychosexual theory. The psychosexual theory is broken down in stages of
development; oral, anal, phallic, latency, and, genital. Freud theorized that each child goes through
periods of childhood where each part of their body is reflected by erotic stimulation according to
his or her erogenous zones, mouth, anus, and genital areas. Freud suggested if these stages were
interrupted or dysfunctional it would consequently affect the child and they would have issue
lingering into their adulthood. (Stevenson, 2001). Another theory of that Freud researched was the
Id, ego, and superego. This idea was also a development theory which would advance itself in
different stages. The id stage began at birth, it would be considered the need stage. An individual

Thomas Hobbes And John Locke Essay
Hobbes, Locke and the meaning of the English civil war Thomas Hobbes and john Locke are
considered some of the most influential people in Political thought. Both men lived during and
around the time of the English civil war. It can be assumed that this event had a profound effect
on each man s perspective and thinking. Locke and Hobbes do differ on their ideas and beliefs.
Hobbes living through the civil war was a supporter of an absolute monarchy. Locke believed in
what can be seen as a representative democracy. It s clear from this examination of facts that
both the ideas Hobbes and Locke were greatly influential. The ideas set forth by Locke certainly
have had a profound influence on later political thinkers. Locke s beliefs would profoundly shape
the views of the American founding fathers. It can be argued that the United States is a Lockean
nation. Both Hobbes and Locke were strong believers in property rights and believed that
government must protect these rights. Using the English war as a starting point, the beliefs and
ideas of Lock and Hobbes can be examined. Some questions to consider are challenging sovereign
power, stability and justice and the effects of the English civil war. By understanding these ideas,
we can better appreciate these perspectives and thoughts and a better understanding can be reached.
The main event that these ideas draw their influence from is the English Civil war. The English
civil war happened between 1642 and 1651. The two

Planning And Scheduling Construction For Decades
Critical Path Method has been extensively utilised for planning and scheduling construction for
decades. As mentioned earlier, the study conducted by Tavakoli and Riachi (1990) results from

planning and scheduling projects. The first steps in building the CPM technique is the activity list.
Activity is defined as task that consumes time and other resources (******) and contributes to the
completion of the project. This activity may further be broken down into components depending on
the size of the project. Example of activity is ****** Activity is shown by arrow to a node (figure

factor in developing a realistic schedule is to embrace the right activities, weigh up the logical
uniqueness of each project and use engineering judgment. In most cases, it is not necessary to
include every bid item in the schedule. A construction schedule will establish the number of days
needed to complete the project including production rates, equipment To obtain clarity in project

The Issue Of Colonization On The United Nations
In the words spoken by Albert Einstein, Given the millions of billions of Earth like planets, life
elsewhere in the Universe without a doubt, does exist. In the vastness of the Universe we are not
alone. , he states, that without a doubt, life does exist somewhere other than Earth, and as
expected, he was correct. Recently, a new planet has been found, and it has been discovered that
this planet in particular is capable of sustaining life. Furthermore, the United Nations are in the
act of passing a legislation that allows them to annex and colonize this newly found planet.
However, this planet already contains living life forms of its own. The fact that this new planet
has its own living life forms is astonishing, but because it contains living life forms I am against
the U.N on their plans of colonization on this new planet. When incorporating our past mistakes
in history and comparing them to our future actions, the process and outcome of colonization on
both cases are particularly negative. Moreover, if we were to imperialize this planet the chances
of: cultural loss, death, and racism are high. Given the occasion that the U.N does indeed decide
to colonize this new planet, we would definitely not respect the new life form s culture, and will
most likely change their civilization to be more like us. British rule in India is a great example as
to why we should not colonize this new planet. For instance, because of British rule in India, new

The Price of Concussions in Sports
The documentary, The League of Denial examines the issue of brain injuries in the National
Football League. The film devotes most of its attention to the story of Mike Webster, who died at
the age of fifty as a result of severe brain injuries suffered throughout his playing career. Webster s
story highlights the devastating effect concussions can have in a short timeframe. Because brain
injuries are known to develop quickly it is important that the NFL responds quickly to this
concussioncrisis. The NFL is the most popular professional sports league in the world: according
to Forbes Magazine the NFL generated over $9 billion in revenue this past year. Despite this
success the NFL faces a legitimate threat against brain injuries and concussions. Although the NFL
is popular, they should still be proactive in their fight against concussions because of the amount of
money they generate, the health of their former players, and lastly the willingness of future athletes
to play their sport.
The NFL continues to remain the most lucrative professional league. According to Forbes
Magazine the NFL s 32 teams are worth on average, $1.7 billion, which is more than any other

My understanding from my Education Advisor was that you approved the Incomplete Request for
this course to provided me few extra time to submit the pending assignments.
Today, I went to look into the details of the pending units, and I found out an F grade for this
course and block for accessing the course resources to continue my work.
On my previous emails; I mentioned to you that I worked hard to get to this point demonstrating
my enthusiasm and desired to achieve my goals with satisfying grades. The additional days will be
the window for me to catch up and present a valuable work; In addition, as I mentioned to my
Education Advisor and you due to events with my daughter and work I got delayed from the usual
schedule.
Because this is not my first program with Kaplan, if I dont pass the course I will be dismissed
from the University; under that circumstances will be very hard for another institution to allow me
to complete my program. I am a responsible student, mother, and professional that just need a few
more days to submit the rest of the assignments. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now, if you gave just one more week to complete everything; I will take that time. I hope you can
help me to expedite the correction of the fail grade for an incomplete grade on the system; so the
support team can reinstall my access to the course resources to review the course/assignment details
and enable my functionality to submit the pending work.
In advance, many thanks for your attention, support and prompt respond in this situation.

Free Labor Ideology
Throughout the formation of the United States of America, populations and cities grew and
developed, which required a great necessity for labor to ensure the continuation of progress. As
time elapsed the evolution of labor also took place and slowly but surely advanced to meet the
needs for the powerful and developing young nation. While labor changed, people started to
realize the more present form of the wage labor system as unfair and not an appealing way of
life. As result, free labor ideology was introduced as an alternative and a blueprint to fulfillment,
this idea embedded the principles of temporarily being a wage worker for a given amount of time
until a worker had enough money to save up and move west to claim land and work freely... Show

Even though slavery was over, it opened new questions such as what racial equality will really
be like in society for the free slaves. Because the idea of white supremacy was still heavily
embedded into society at this time, some groups/parties were hesitant and fearful of complete
equality for freedmen. The conservative/moderate republicans wanted to get back to business to
focus on economic needs of the nation; however, getting back to business means to figure out a
way to moderate and bind the freedmen and planter class to work together for the main necessity
of the nation, to produce and pick cotton. The Planter class focused on re establishing white
supremacy, while the freedmen wanted to reconstruct their families and build a new life for
themselves. As previously mentioned, the radical republicans still pushed to implement racial/legal
equality to ensure the movement towards free labor ideology. In response to this post war
dilemma, the free labor experiment formed to hopefully reconstruct the south. A compromise
known as sharecropping was introduced, in which white planter class land owners divided their
plantations into suitable plots of land for former slaves to farm and live on freely in exchange for
profit and interest rate. However, over the course of time, many problems became apparent, such as
inequality for the blacks and unfair payment contracts. Nevertheless,

No Name Woman By Maxine Hong Kingston s No Name Woman
The final piece finds its place. A perfectly planned future envisioned by many, floats mysteriously
ahead, but one look back restrains the head from focusing forward again, for the future is no longer
certain when past events cloud the making of new decisions. Human beings often fail to recognize
the significance 0f pastevents and the way they shape their future. This demonstrates the fact that a
person s individual past experiences often restrict the process of personal reinvention. Thus, one s
history, and specifically their childhood, confirms the current beliefs that affect their self invention.
To begin, the opinions an individual formed as a child often delay or decrease personal growth.
From past experiences, people build a foundation of values and morals. On one hand, self invention
suggests that a person can separate the development of their character from their past experiences,
but on the other hand, a person seldom reinvents themselves because ideas already set in place
repress other opportunities. Children remember specific customs such as family or cultural
traditions from their parents as they attempt to expand their knowledge. An example of this concept
from the short story, No Name Woman, written by Maxine Hong Kingston, illustrates how a woman
felt trapped by the customs she learned at a young age, which eventually led to her death. Kingston
states, She had to have dealings with him other than sex. Perhaps he worked an adjoining field, or
he sold her the

Iris was important because without her the humans on earth would not know the gods desires or what they wanted. Iris had a couple of strengths one of them being faithful to her husband, Hera, and to the Olympians as well. She also had a couple of weaknesses such as her defined role in life. The Tax Laws are being reviewed with the aim of repelling obsolete provisions and simplifying the main ones. Under current Nigerian law, taxation is enforced by the 3 tiers of Government, i.e. Federal, State, and Local Government with each having its sphere clearly spelt out in the Taxes and Levies (approved list for Collection) Decree, 1998. Value Added Tax(VAT) This was introduced by the VAT decree No. 2 of 1993, to replace the old sales tax. It is a consumption tax levied at each stage of the consumption chain, and is borne by the final consumer. It requires a taxable person upon registering with the Federal Board of Inland Revenue to charge and collect VAT at a flat rate of 5% of all invoiced amounts of taxable goods and services. VAT paid by a business on purchases is known as input tax, which is recovered from VAT charged on company s sales, known as output tax. If output exceeds input in any particular month the excess is remitted to the Federal Board Of Inland Revenue (FBIR) but where input exceeds output the taxpayer is entitled to a refund of the excess from FBIR though in practice this is not always possible. A Taxpayer however has the option of recovering excess input from excess output of a subsequent period. There are various amounts of instances throughout the book where Nick makes unobvious homosexual comments or remarks. When this book was written, being homosexual was mistaken, very frowned upon, and even illegal. F. Scott Fitzgeraldhad to make the topic of homosexuality very quiet, just like the alcohol and the bootlegging. Alcohol and bootlegging are just as illegal as homosexuality, sp F. Nick says to Gatsby, They re a rotten crowd...You re worth the whole damn bunch put together (Fitzgerald 154). Nick saying this can be controversial in a couple of ways. When Nick says The whole damn bunch put together , he is mostly referring to Gatsby, Daisy, Tom and Jordan. Daisy is his cousin and that makes Tom family by marriage. Jordan is a woman Nick had a romantic relationship with. For Nick to say that Gatsby, out of all these people, is the best out of them shows a lot about Nick and his feelings toward Gatsby. For him to choose a man he had recently met over his family or someone he has had a relationship with is very interesting. Most people will choose their family or someone they are romantically involved with over a friend. Thus proving that Gatsby is more than a friend to Nick. This statement can also be controversial because Gatsby is not a saint. Daisy, Tom, and Jordan are all terrible people. Daisy lead on two men at the same time, one being her husband. Malvolio is Olivia s steward and his job is to manage Olivia s house; he is her chief servant. It s a very responsible job that he takes very seriously. He enjoys telling people what to do. Twelfth Night is referring to the twelfth night after Christmas, Epiphany. Today, the Twelfth Night after Christmas means the day we take down the decorations, but back in 1600 when the play was written it had a different meaning. Epiphany was a time for celebrating and partying. People used to have parties on Twelfth Night and it was traditional to play practical jokes at this time. These included tricks such as hiding live birds in an empty pie case, so that they flew away when the startled guests cut open the crusts. It was a mad time full of pranks and confusion, just as in the play. This name, Twelfth Night , therefore seems appropriate for this play due to all the confusion and the banter that goes on in the confusing storyline. In Twelfth Night we see different types of humour. There is the word play, the vulgar humour of Sir Toby, stupidity of Sir Andrew, Malvolio s foolishness , and the general confusion caused by Viola s disguise. Shakespeare used dirty and witty humour in most of his plays but it is perhaps most obvious in Twelfth Night. He used different types of humour to please all of the people who flocked to see his plays. There was always an array of people, and they all needed to be kept interested. Yes, the new resort would create jobs to manage the resort, and increase the city s income and taxes, however, the area does not qualify as one that requires this sort of enhancement. As stated in the Institute For Justice (2013) website The justification the City had offered for the takings was that a new development would create more jobs and taxes, but keep this in mind: anyone s home or small business would generate more taxes as a shopping mall. If that can justify such takings, then literally no home or business would be safe from this kind of abuse at the hands of government (para.3). • 9. The Creation Story Of Adam And Eve Analysis By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return . In The Creation Story of Adam and Eve , those are the words God tells Adam and Eve when they failed to obey God s only rule, not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Throughout the story we follow their relationship with God, in the events that began with their creation and ended in their exile. Therefore, in my sole opinion based on The Creation of Adam and Eve, the story depicts Adamand Eve s relationship with God and the underlying meaning of their existence and the oedipal conflict that is portrayed. It suggests that maybe the story is a tale told in order to understand why we exist and our personal purpose as well as to recognize the effects of the authoritarian commands God expressed to Adam and Eve. The phrase existence precedes essence as told by Sartre means, we exist first and then we do things that define ourselves and live our lives in whatever way we choose. This is the case in, The Creation Story of Adam and Eve , when God created Adam from the dust of the ground and Eve from one of Adam s ribs. He brought them to life in the Garden of Eden, but it was up to them to create a purpose to exist. Therefore, Adam and Eve s actions of disobedience were perhaps a way of God testing humankind by showing them paradise (Garden of Eden) and what we were to lose if we d disobeyed him. God gave Adam a garden to take care of, animals to name, and a wife for companionship. And they both got banished from paradise for choosing to have the freedom of disobeying and as a result they have to be responsible for their actions. For instance, in the Existentialism Lecture , it says that from an existentialist point of view, We must choose what to do, where to go, and most importantly, what is meaningful to us and why. With choice comes two related concepts: freedom and responsibility . Eve s wrongful actions are the cause of why women to this day have had to fight harder than men to achieve their place in society. As for Adam, his actions brought men to work for a living, which nothing in life is easy, and you have to strive for it, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the hospital, all the patient are men and they are all divided on a particular way. All the men that can not be cured are together and all the others that can be cured and together too. The hospital is ruled by Miss Rached, an army Nurse that is very mechanical. Everything starts when Randle McMurphyenters the hospital. • 12. Sex Role Theory Essay 1.Why do men commit more crimes then women and why is this? It is said that men commit more crimes then women (Kreinert 2003). Many people ask why men commit more crimes it is simply because men tend to be more violent than that of women (Kreinert 2003). When women do commit crimes they like to commit social norms compared to men. Men are known to commit more crimes because of their masculinity(Kreinert 2003).I think this is also because women tend to be more truthful then that of men when it comes down to finding out the facts. What is sex role theory and what does it argue? Sex role theory is a theory that focuses on boys and girls and how they are socialized differently (Sulak 2014). Paracas Candelabra Research Paper Around 200 BC, according to carbon dated pottery found on the Paracas Peninsula at Pisco Bay in Peru, a mysterious image, called the Paracas Candelabra or Candelabra of the Andes, was made in the sand surrounded by large stones. It is 600 feet tall, 2 feet deep and resembles the image of candelabra. The symbol can be seen as far as 12 miles out to sea. There are many rumors as to what this symbol represented whether it be religious, a sailing navigation tool, a huge seismograph or even that it could be referencing a certain hallucinogenic plant. The first suggestion of what the Paracas Candelabra could be was related to religious ideas. In South America, a god named Viracocha, who was the creator god in Incan mythology and who was highly worshipped. The people who worshipped the god believe the image to be that of the lightening rod or staff carried by Viracocha. The also believed that Viracocha would help people during times of trouble and the people of Paracas created the image to help him find his way to them. Another religious idea came about by the Conquistadors who believed that the image was actually representing the Holy Trinity. • 15. The Community Health Profiles For The Mott Haven And... In vulnerable communities like the South Bronx, where economic opportunities are limited, populations are at high risk for various adverse outcomes that are impediments to community growth and well being. Two statistics from the 2015 Community Health Profiles for the Mott Haven Melrose neighborhoods in the South Bronx are particularly revealing when compared to the fifty eight other New York City (NYC) communities that were assessed: 1) Mott Haven Melrose ranks fourth for incarcerations. Its 305 incarcerations per 100,000 adults is nearly twice the Bronx rate and three times the NYC rate, and 2) Mott Haven Melrose ranks seventh for elementary school absenteeism. Its 31 percent absenteeism rate is over 1.5 times that of the NYC rate (NYC DOHMH, 2015). Given that 59 percent of incarcerated individuals in New York State are parents of children under the age of 18, it is clear that the imprisonment of these criminal offenders does not happen in a vacuum (NYS DOCCS, 2013). Many of these incarcerated men and women play various roles in their communities. They are parents, siblings, sons, and daughters and have family members who depend upon them for social and economic support. In present day, the majority of households encompass non traditional families, accordion families, divorce, and modern technology. Traditional families have been thought to consist of a heterosexual male and female joined together in marriage. Just like how the futon is both green and pink like the man and woman s robes respectively, the piece is supposed to indicate a romantic union between the two. The patterns on the futon and robe help add dimension to the print, which would later be reprinted for the consumption of the merchant class in the Tokugawa period. It is particularly important to note how Utamaro portrays the woman; women by Utamaro not only had an idealized form with slender features, but she barely resembles the common woman of the period with her impossible proportions. In direct contrast with the realism movement and their aspiration in portraying people the way they truly are, Utamaro s depiction of women and romance are dreamily hedonistic just like many Vogue editorials. In this example the unknown poet of Beowulf does not go into detail about the poets song, as he does in the others, but it is still an example that the oral tradition is alive in the text. Beowulf was obviously, in its origin, a pagan text. There are several examples of pagan elements throughout the story. The belief in wergild, a term meaning man price, is one of the strongest of these ideas. It also incorporates the pagan ideas of fate, the fashion in which lords are buried, and symbols of paganism. The text is clearly one that tells a Germanic heroic narrative, which is not acceptable to the Judeo Christian ideals. The belief in wergild is very similar to the idea of an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. If one[s] kinsmen had been slain, a man had a moral obligation either to kill the slayer or to exact the payment of wergild in compensation (Beowulf 30). It was also shameful to not take revenge or to exact compensation (Beowulf 30). This idea is exemplified throughout the entire text. The Story Of American Slavery For the story of American slavery to be complete, it has to include the ills of the system, the changes created in the aftermath of emancipation and the precipitous slide down into the sins of segregation. Many books about slavery and the brutality of the life that so many people had to endure have been written over the years. In this book, David Blight tells the story about two men, John M. Their escape to freedom occurred during the chaos of this nation s most bloody war and amidst a political and cultural conflict, which had been ripping the country apart for many decades. Throughout the Civil War, in thousands of different circumstances, under changing policies and redefinitions of their status, and in the face of social chaos caused by huge military campaigns and destruction, four million slaves helped to decide what time it would be in American History (Blight, 2007, p. 5). The Doctrine Of Primal Sin Essay Augustine on the doctrine of primal sin focuses on the downfall of Lucifer, and whether or not he foreknew there would be consequences in turning away from God. However, it is arguable that Lucifer did foresee his coming downfall. Because his intentional actions in turning away from God goes against his angelic nature, which means he had to deliberately had to deprive himself of the greatest of goods, and actively pursue misery. For Lucifer perversely chooses to abandon all that is good by turning away from God, and towards what is contrary of Him, which is nothingness. That in which, on behalf of Augustine, I will argue that Lucifer did foresee the coming of his downfall. For Lucifer chose to bolster the vices of his will, which became the very means of degenerating his angelic nature. Consequently, this means Lucifer intentionally pursued what is contrary to the God, thus leading to his fall. In behalf of Augustine, it is arguable that Lucifer foreknew his actions in rebelling against God was going to bring about a particular consequence. For it is significant to understand the development of the vices which enables Lucifer to fall. For Augustine explains in book 12, chapter 1; all Angels recognize a common good in their nature which is to cleave to God. • 28. Sociopathy And Psychopathy Essay Mental disorders are dreadful things that can attack without warning. While some are aware of the disorders that affect them, others are not, and they can therefore be affected by their disorders to the point of no return. Sociopathy and psychopathy, which can stem from either environmental factors or brain abnormalities, are examples of this. While there are misconceptions about the true identities of these disorders and the differences between them, this paper will attempt to inform the readers of their distinctions, and just where in the world they are present. This paper will also discuss how to confront those who are affected, and the factors that are involved in doing so. To first understand the basic concepts involved with identifying... As mental disorders become more and more prevalent within the American population today, it is only necessary to inform oneself on the varying topics being discussed. To know how the mind works is merely one step into the mystery that is the human body, and it would be neglectful to approach such a topic without being properly prepared. Sociopathy and psychopathy are harming conditions, but as previously portrayed, things are much more complex than they seem. What is causing this shift in immune prophylaxis, from the initial goal of eradicating contagious diseases, to becoming a killer inoculation? Are we still free to defend and decide for our health, or is there a danger of government actions with mass vaccinationmandates? There is a justified alarming concern on vaccines, not only in the population worldwide, but also in the medical personnel. Talking about numbers, how many and what type of inoculations are administered to a baby just from birth to six months of age? Here are some numbers: since birth through age six years old at least fifteen types of different vaccines, up to four inoculations for each type are administered to children (Appendix A). Are all these vaccinations necessary at such an early age? The uncontrolled proliferation of childhood vaccines with known potential for adverse reactions, is it validated by a serious epidemiological study? Moreover, why are vaccines excipients containing poisons such as mercury and aluminum or contamination of human DNA? Beginning from the time psychology first became separated from the philosophy and biology sciences, there has been controversy. The subject, most debated, was the explanation and description of human behavior as well as the human mind. It was the schools of thought in psychologythat allowed for the major names in psychology that we study and read about on what seems to be a daily basis that put theoretical opinions and differences out in the open for everyone to study and perhaps formulate their own studies and/or opinions alike. He is the product of intelligent influences from many important philosophers such as; Ernst Brucke, Charles Darwin and Joseph Breuer, who he met in medical school after some studies together mostly on Anna O., coauthored Studies on Hysteria (Goodwin, 2008). One of the most noted and controversial theory s from Freud was possibly his psychosexual theory. The psychosexual theory is broken down in stages of development; oral, anal, phallic, latency, and, genital. Freud theorized that each child goes through periods of childhood where each part of their body is reflected by erotic stimulation according to his or her erogenous zones, mouth, anus, and genital areas. Freud suggested if these stages were interrupted or dysfunctional it would consequently affect the child and they would have issue lingering into their adulthood. (Stevenson, 2001). Another theory of that Freud researched was the Id, ego, and superego. This idea was also a development theory which would advance itself in different stages. The id stage began at birth, it would be considered the need stage. An individual may not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Thomas Hobbes And John Locke Essay Hobbes, Locke and the meaning of the English civil war Thomas Hobbes and john Locke are considered some of the most influential people in Political thought. Both men lived during and around the time of the English civil war. It can be assumed that this event had a profound effect on each man s perspective and thinking. Locke and Hobbes do differ on their ideas and beliefs. Hobbes living through the civil war was a supporter of an absolute monarchy. Locke believed in what can be seen as a representative democracy. It s clear from this examination of facts that both the ideas Hobbes and Locke were greatly influential. The ideas set forth by Locke certainly have had a profound influence on later political thinkers. Locke s beliefs would profoundly shape the views of the American founding fathers. It can be argued that the United States is a Lockean nation. Both Hobbes and Locke were strong believers in property rights and believed that government must protect these rights. Using the English war as a starting point, the beliefs and ideas of Lock and Hobbes can be examined. Some questions to consider are challenging sovereign power, stability and justice and the effects of the English civil war. On October 20, 1944, a storage tank holding liquefied natural gas, that was kept above ground as was common at the time, began leaking. The liquefied gas dropped into the sewer lines, mixed with air and sewer gas, and consequently ignited. A series of fires and explosions killed 130 people in Cleveland, Ohio. The catastrophe event made a significant impact on the natural gas industry, that started to store the tanks below ground (Engineering Disasters, 2017, p. 1). As mentioned earlier, the study conducted by Tavakoli and Riachi (1990) results from responding industries has shown overwhelming satisfaction of using the CPM technique for planning and scheduling projects. The first steps in building the CPM technique is the activity list. Activity is defined as task that consumes time and other resources (******) and contributes to the completion of the project. This activity may further be broken down into components depending on the size of the project. Example of activity is ****** Activity is shown by arrow to a node (figure 1).. The next is sequencing, organising and scheduling these activities according to priorities. A key factor in developing a realistic schedule is to embrace the right activities, weigh up the logical uniqueness of each project and use engineering judgment. In most cases, it is not necessary to include every bid item in the schedule. A construction schedule will establish the number of days needed to complete the project including production rates, equipment To obtain clarity in project scheduling experienced input is required in: interdependencies of tasks, their duration, other sensitivities (weather, location factors) logistics of material procurement, storage, construction equipment, HR resource, sourcing and up skilling and safety training, transport logistics, types, quantities, resource size and ... The Issue Of Colonization On The United Nations In the words spoken by Albert Einstein, Given the millions of billions of Earth like planets, life elsewhere in the Universe without a doubt, does exist. In the vastness of the Universe we are not alone. , he states, that without a doubt, life does exist somewhere other than Earth, and as expected, he was correct. Recently, a new planet has been found, and it has been discovered that this planet in particular is capable of sustaining life. Furthermore, the United Nations are in the act of passing a legislation that allows them to annex and colonize this newly found planet. However, this planet already contains living life forms of its own. The fact that this new planet has its own living life forms is astonishing, but because it contains living life forms I am against the U.N on their plans of colonization on this new planet. When incorporating our past mistakes in history and comparing them to our future actions, the process and outcome of colonization on both cases are particularly negative. Moreover, if we were to imperialize this planet the chances of: cultural loss, death, and racism are high. Given the occasion that the U.N does indeed decide to colonize this new planet, we would definitely not respect the new life form s culture, and will most likely change their civilization to be more like us. Free Labor Ideology Throughout the formation of the United States of America, populations and cities grew and developed, which required a great necessity for labor to ensure the continuation of progress. As time elapsed the evolution of labor also took place and slowly but surely advanced to meet the needs for the powerful and developing young nation. While labor changed, people started to realize the more present form of the wage labor system as unfair and not an appealing way of life. As result, free labor ideology was introduced as an alternative and a blueprint to fulfillment, this idea embedded the principles of temporarily being a wage worker for a given amount of time until a worker had enough money to save up and move west to claim land and work freely... Because the idea of white supremacy was still heavily embedded into society at this time, some groups/parties were hesitant and fearful of complete equality for freedmen. The conservative/moderate republicans wanted to get back to business to focus on economic needs of the nation; however, getting back to business means to figure out a way to moderate and bind the freedmen and planter class to work together for the main necessity of the nation, to produce and pick cotton. The Planter class focused on re establishing white supremacy, while the freedmen wanted to reconstruct their families and build a new life for themselves. As previously mentioned, the radical republicans still pushed to implement racial/legal equality to ensure the movement towards free labor ideology. In response to this post war dilemma, the free labor experiment formed to hopefully reconstruct the south. A compromise known as sharecropping was introduced, in which white planter class land owners divided their plantations into suitable plots of land for former slaves to farm and live on freely in exchange for profit and interest rate. • 42. No Name Woman By Maxine Hong Kingston s No Name Woman The final piece finds its place. A perfectly planned future envisioned by many, floats mysteriously ahead, but one look back restrains the head from focusing forward again, for the future is no longer certain when past events cloud the making of new decisions. Human beings often fail to recognize the significance 0f pastevents and the way they shape their future. This demonstrates the fact that a person s individual past experiences often restrict the process of personal reinvention. Thus, one s history, and specifically their childhood, confirms the current beliefs that affect their self invention. To begin, the opinions an individual formed as a child often delay or decrease personal growth. From past experiences, people build a foundation of values and morals. On one hand, self invention suggests that a person can separate the development of their character from their past experiences, but on the other hand, a person seldom reinvents themselves because ideas already set in place repress other opportunities. Children remember specific customs such as family or cultural traditions from their parents as they attempt to expand their knowledge. An example of this concept from the short story, No Name Woman, written by Maxine Hong Kingston, illustrates how a woman felt trapped by the customs she learned at a young age, which eventually led to her death. Kingston states, She had to have dealings with him other than sex. Perhaps he worked an adjoining field, or he sold her the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
