The Cause Of Maternal Death Worldwide
Abstract Maternal sepsis is preventable, yet remains the leading cause of maternal death worldwide,
according to a study published in 2013 (Acosta Knight, 2013). Early recognition of symptoms and
implementation of correct treatment is key to prevent mortality. A break in nursing education can
prevent prompt treatment to patients. Given that pregnant women are more vulnerable to infection and
susceptible to serious complications, makes a clear understanding of maternal sepsis imperative
(Joseph, Sinha, Paech, Walters, 2009). The purpose of this project was to determine if there is a need
on Memorial Hospital s LDRP unit for more education related to maternal sepsis. Memorial Hospital,
located in York, Pennsylvania is a small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though sepsis is a major contributor to maternal mortality, septic shock in pregnancy fortunately
is relatively rare, affecting only 0.002% to 0.010% of all births (Dutra Olvera, 2016). Regardless of
how low the statistics, maternal mortality happens and the preparedness of units will influence a
positive outcome. A needs assessment identifies the discrepancy between the present knowledge and
the desired knowledge to develop protocols and education which will bridge the gap between the what
is and what should be . The needs assessment developed for the 23 staff members on the small LDRP
unit of Memorial Hospital focused on what the end knowledge base should be. Questions were
formulated after an extensive literature review, focusing on early recognition, definitions and specifics
for care. This needs assessment will help implement protocols that will improve the care provided, as
well as the comfort of the staff members face to face with perinatal mothers.
Review of Literature Critical management of maternal sepsis is key in preventing mortality and
identifying a patient at risk can help with initiation of management. There are many risk factors of
sepsis during pregnancy. Hashmi and Khan (2014) identified that pregnant women are highly
susceptible to infection due to the maternal immune response being decreased. Some of the risk
factors named included cesarean

What Is The Eulogy For The Pursuit Of Happyness
Statement of Intent: In this piece of writing, the eulogy is about mourning the loss of Christopher
Gardner at the funeral, in the movie The Pursuit of Happyness . His son, Christopher who speaks at
his father s funeral showing the relationship between him and his father and also show the impact that
Christopher has made on his son. This eulogy is set shortly after the end of the movie. Welcome
everyone, we have all gathered here to mourn the loss of a good man, Christopher Gardner, my father.
I am glad that I got the chance to have a father like him. I have always admired him, adored him. He
was my role model and still is, I look up to him. He is the best dad in the world ever. I remember some
time ago when my parents separated due to some financial issues, I m not really sure though, but even
in these times, my mom left me but my father stayed on my side. He never left me, he was there when
I needed both my parents the most. He did everything in his power to keep me happy. I hope I was the
son he wanted me to be, I hope I didn t disappoint him as his son. I will never forget the words he said
to me that day, If you want something, go get it, period . I remember when he didn t have a job and we
were facing difficult times. I didn t realise the situation we were in, but now I ve realised that to get
through the night, we had to sleep in a public bathroom in a subway. Well, at that time it seemed like
an adventure but now, not as much. But we got through those time together, the times that tried to
separate us which did succeed on separating me from my mom. If it wasn t for him, if he didn t take
that one more step, we would still be sleeping in public bathrooms and I wouldn t even be here talking
to you guys. He has carried me throughout this painful but extremely helpful journey which has taught
me many things. The most important out of all is the value of life and money. When I was younger, I
didn t care how much money my parents had, I didn t care how much they spent on me. The only one
thing I did was to order them to but me useless toys, the toys which I barely played with. Now I know
their pain, I know what they went through to get me those toys. You ask me how I know this? Well,
when you re in a

The cell is the basic unit of life and is the smallest, simplest organism that can perform all of life s
functions. The cell was discovered in 1665 by Robert Hooke. The three types of cells are plant cells,
animal cells, and prokaryotic cells. These cells share many qualities but are also different in many
ways.
There are a few organelles that exist in all three types of cells. The first of these is the cell membrane
(also known as the plasma membrane). The plasma membrane is the outer boundary of the cell that
protects the cell from its surroundings. It is selectively permeable because it controls what enters and
exits the cell. Carl Naegeli and C. Cramer discovered the plasma membrane in 1855. The cytosol is
also present in the Plant, Animal, and Prokaryotic cells. The cytosol is the thick, gelatin like liquid in
the cell that accounts for almost 70% of its volume. The cytosol of a cell is the substance in which the
organelles are suspended and it provides the proper conditions for their function and movement. The
cytosol was discovered by Albert Claude, Christian de Duve, and George E. Palade in 1835. A third
structure contained in all three types of cells is the ribosome. Ribosomes are spherical in shape and are
made up of RNA and protein. They are often found on the endoplasmic reticulum. Ribosomes are
important in the manufacturing of proteins and are the site at

Fate In The Play Oedipus By William Winter
Fate is always there. It always has, and it always will be there. We all can choose the decisions we
make, but fate cannot be changed, since it has already been predetermined. What happens will happen,
but what changes will not change fate. Fate is also what changes you, if you think about it. All the
events that have happened in the years of you being alive lead up to today; to who you are. All the
decisions you ve made would end up driving fate into taking its own toll on future, driving up to
where you currently are and making you who you are Fate is character William Winter. In the play
Oedipus by Sophocles, Jocasta s (who is Oedipus s wife and mother) character would wind up
changing because of fate. She did not choose for or expect for things to have change in such a
negative way. Jocasta was forced to see her husband figure out that he was married to his mother She
begged Oedipus not to go any further in the search of his true identity. Perhaps she did this because
she was romantically in love with Oedipus, or maybe because she wanted things to stay as they were.
This shows that Jocasta is secretive. When she found out that the prophecies (that were told about
Oedipus) were true, she automatically tried to hide it from Oedipus Or more so push Oedipus from the
truth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oedipus you must stop. I beg you stop!... I pray to god you never see who you are!... These are the last
words I will ever speak, ever Oedipus. (Sophocles|| 1344 45, 50,56,57). It was too painful for Jocasta
to watch the truth slowly yet quickly unfold right in front of Oedipus, so she ran off. Jocasta was
afraid to face her fate, and she was probably also ashamed since Oedipus would soon catch up to the
truth... There was no running from fate, or more so the truth

The Use of Birds in Chronical of a Death Foretold by...
In the novel, Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, birds are used as motifs
intentionally in the imagery of scenes to convey sentiments, ideas and messages to the reader. Some of
the roles taken by the symbolism of birds include indicating signs of the future and afterlife,
supporting character portrayal and development throughout the text. The symbolism of birds is
discussed in the essay because the recurring images of birds have a pertinent significance to the
novella.
In literature, birds are commonly viewed as signs of freedom while in flight, yet while they are
entrapped in cages, they symbolize the struggle for freedom. Gabriel Garcia s usage of birds has both
common and uncommon roles in the novel. The birds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Santiago seemed happy with his father until the latter died suddenly, three years before, (Marquez 7).
In this sense, the dream about floating through a grove of timber trees where a gentle drizzle was
falling, [...] but [...] he awoke [...] spattered with bird shit, (Marquez 3) ties into Santiago s life. The
birds hold significance in this passage in the metaphor comparing bird shit to life ruining events. The
reader learns more about Santiago when the narrator reveals that Nasar gained the good arts of valor
and prudence (7) from his father and is a merry, peaceful, and openhearted (8) individual.
Furthermore, Santiago is an aggressive wealthy individual that is compared to a sparrow hawk [...] just
like his father, nipping the bud of any wayward virgin who began showing up in those woods, (90). In
the text, falcons are associated with entertainment and displaying one s status of wealth, and the
opening quote by Gil Vicente, the pursuit of love is like falconry (1) compares the persistent nature of
pursuing love to the recreational activity of hunting with falcons.
Subsequently, the reader becomes aware of Santiago s innocence and naivety. Nahir Miguel reveals to
the narrator that Santiago looked like a little wet bird, (114). Because Marquez specifically chose a
bird as the animal for this image, the birds must hold a certain importance to the

What American Ideal Sets Our Country Apart As Unique And...
What American ideal sets our country apart as unique and all its own, different from all other countries
in the world? The idea of true liberty, or freedom from oppression within society (Oxford Dictionary),
can be seen throughout American culture. This quality, however, has not always been equally
demonstrated to all groups of people. Ever since the founding of the country, the African American
community has strived for liberty and equality in society. After being pushed down into the chains of
slavery, they began to rise and fight for what was rightfully theirs through the blood, sweat, and tears
of many. The American ideal of liberty has gradually expanded and provided new opportunities for the
once enslaved community of African Americans; this expansion has been the result of the lifelong
efforts and struggles of members of that community like Olaudah Equiano, Frederick Douglass, Mr.
Ryder, W.E.B. DuBois, and Booker T. Washington. Olaudah Equiano grew up as a free boy in Africa.
In his narrative, he defined liberty when describing his village as celebrating every great event... in
public dances, which [were] accompanied with songs and music suited to the occasion (Equiano 356).
Before Africans were enslaved, they were a free race in their own land. The native Africans
understood liberty as the ability to govern themselves and hold their livelihood in their own hands.
This all changed for Equiano when one day captors seized [him]... and ran off with [him] into the

The Earned Income Tax Credit
The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a federal program that provides low to moderate income
workers, including many who are poor, with extra income through tax refunds. It also encourages low
income parents to go to work by lowering their tax rate and providing a financial bonus for their work
effort. Congress originally approved the tax credit in 1975 partly to help offset the burden of social
security taxes for families and to provide an incentive to work. When the credit exceeds the amount of
taxes owed, it results in a tax refund to those who claim and qualify for it. It s been especially effective
in encouraging single parents, mainly single mothers, to obtain employment. In 2003 alone, this tax
credit provided 22 million American families and their children, with $34 billion in cash assistance
(Francis 2014). The credit has been expanded several times since its creation, and more than half of
the U.S. states and the District of Columbia now have their own supplemental EITCs.
There are four main qualifications needed to receive the credit. First, an individual must have a valid
Social Security number. Second, an individual must earn income either from working for someone
else or from owning or operating a business. Third, an individual must be a U.S. citizen or resident or
the spouse of a U.S. citizen or resident for the entire tax year. Finally, earned income and adjusted
gross income must both be below income limits that vary by the number of children in a

Tenth Circuit Case Analysis
Federal courts generally reference what the Kansas courts describe as a cognizable legal prejudice as
the loss of a substantial right due to the dismissal. Pontenberg v. Boston Scientific Corp., 252 F.3d
1253, 1255 (11th Cir. 2001). The Tenth Circuit has recognized four main factors when determining
whether a legal prejudice exists: the opposing party s effort and expense in preparing for trial;
excessive delay and lack of diligence on the part of the movant; insufficient explanation of the need
for a dismissal; and the present stage of litigation. Brown v. Baeke, 413 F.3d 1121, 1124 (10th Cir.
2005). Defendants Response claims the Defendants will be substantially prejudiced by an or der of
dismissal, but do not provide any identification of what that prejudice would be or how the prejudice
would rise to the level of the loss of any substantial right. Since the Defendants have not identified any
legal prejudice, or met their burden of showing any plain legal prejudice resulting from the requested
dismissal, the Court is without grounds to deny the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

stated above). See Ireland v. Byrne,

Architecture should not be seen as representing a magical transition from the worldly to the heavenly,
as had been implied by the Baroque Style, but rather as a medium that told nothing less than the story
of the origins of mankind. (Ching 610) These words, as argued by Marc Antoine Laugier, perfectly
demonstrates Thomas Jefferson s intentions in the design of the Virginia State Capitole Building, and
subsequently in the design of Gallier Hall in New Orleans, Lousiana. His intention was to boost
America s morale by likening the young nation to the powerful Greek democracy, the first democracy.

Marilyn Monroe Accomplishments
Marilyn Monroe was born June 1st, 1926 in Los Angeles, California as Norma Jean Baker. Her
mother, Gladys Pearl Baker was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia when Monroe was only seven
years old. With an absent father and a mother who was often institutionalized, the young girl was left
to fend for herself in the foster care system. The demons of her past would haunt her until she took her
life in 1962, at the age of thirty six. Still, Marilyn Monroe goes down in history as one of the most
influential females of her time. Her positive aura and smile charmed many people, and led her to the
fame she has today. Despite all the odds, Marilyn Monroe was selfless and kind. . . and smart as well.

Historiography Of Karnataka
A much early historiography of Karnataka by Aluru Venkatarao also delineates on similar lines
identifying the juncture of Battle of Talikota in 1565 as the time of decline of glory of Karnataka. In
his 1917 work titled Karnataka Gatha Vaibhava , Aluru Venkata Rao writes thus:
Having flourished for 230 years this glorious kingdom disappeared in half a minute by accident. It
dies. That was the end of Karnataka s glory. The kumkum was wiped off Karnatakadevi s forehead!
The mangalsutra round her neck was cut! Karnataka s wealth was destroyed Karnataka s intellectual
wealth disappeared. The sun of Karnataka s valour set. To summarise: since that day, we people of
Karnataka have become an empty name in history. Oh, ye of Karnataka, has the time still not arrived
for a recovery of past glories? Think about it. (71)
For Aluru Venkata Rao, the glory of Karnataka has flourished for about 230 years, while the 1947
historiography of Karnataka takes it much farther back in time. However, a significant aspect to be
noticed in the above quoted excerpt is the metaphorical manner in which the land Karnataka is
sketched in the image of a goddess. The appropriation of Karnataka in the image of ... Show more

The movement in the late 1970s constructed itself as secular but did not make any effort to define its
identity as such. It was assumed that affiliations with the women s movement were based on gender
and positions of difference were articulately largely on grounds of class rather than caste or religious
community. Class was constructed as a modern identity unlike caste or religious community, which
were seen as pre modern identities to be transcended.

Abnormal Psychology Essay examples
It s human nature to wonder why we act the way that we do and why things happen. So many scholars
over the years have come up with numerous theories in order to categorize the things that are known
and explanations of what it all means. Life is full of trials and tribulations and those who study
maladaptive behavior usually focus on the thoughts, feelings, perceptions, and skills one uses during
daily living. Feelings, thoughts, perceptions and skills all combine to aid in creating our mental states
and lead to behavioral abnormalities. Thoughts are made up of ideas, concepts and the internal
dialogue a person has within their mind. Perceptions are how one interprets incoming sensory signals

This perspective truly focuses on the mind body connection (Sarason Sarason, 2005, p.47). The
psychodynamic perspective believes that biological and mental are both equal contributors to human
life. Those who support the psychodynamic perspective believe that personality is shaped by
combining inner and outer events, with emphasis on the inner events (Sarason Sarason, 2005, p.59).
Basically, our experiences shape who we are. Sigmund Freud is the most well known theorist of this
type with the basis of his concept involving the conscious and unconscious psychic connection
(Sarason Sarason, 2005, p60). The third theory of abnormal behavior is the behavioral perspective
specifically focusing on how the environment affects how we behave. Those who formed the
behavioral perspective felt that Freud s ideas were too complicated and that this was a simpler way to
explain human behavior simply that we are a product of our environment (Sarason Sarason, 2005,
p.67). The cognitive perspective puts emphasis on how people acquire and interpret information and
use it in problem solving. This perspective also emphasizes the mental processes that people are
unaware of or can be made aware of. The cognitive perspective focuses on our present thoughts and

Harry Potter Series By J. K. Rowling
The Tale that Touched All
There s a tale of an orphaned boy caught in the crossfire between good and evil. This orphan was
Harry Potter and he slept in a broom cupboard miserable, abused, and neglected by his relatives.
Unbeknownst to him, he would one day save the muggle and wizarding world from the darkest wizard
ever known, Lord Voldemort. This tale is better known as the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling and
is, without a doubt, the best and most addicting book series. It pulls readers into a world of fantasy; it
has characters that are easy to connect with, and it deals with realistic matters.
The first reason the Harry Potter series surpasses all others is because it fascinates readers of all ages
tugging at their imagination, intelligence, and emotion. Harry Potter enchants (pun definitely
intended) the creative mind through the wonders of spells such as Episkey, used to heal small injuries,
concoctions like Veritaserum, a truth telling potion, and even numerous mythical creatures including
Centaurs and Mermaids. The series also uses the readers intelligence to keep them wanting more. One
thing I often experienced while exploring the wizarding world, was ah ha moments. For example, as I
read, Look ... at ... me... he whispered. , in Severus Snape s final moments of Harry Potter and the
Deathly Hallows (book seven), my brain went into a frenzy. Recollection of the seemingly
infinitesimal moments involving Snape and Harry flooded into my mind. In that split

One mechanism by which E. coli. and C. rodentium could have acquired the locus enterocyte

flagellum, it could be possible that the LEE sequence originally coded for flagellar components before
some sort of mutation caused it to begin coding for a T3SS instead. Because the T3SS would increase

How To Enhance Food
Many people will say that the less seasoning you use on a steak, the more enjoyable it will be. The
reality is that even a good cut of meat will need some seasoning if you want to maximize your
enjoyment and the nutritional benefit that you get from it. You should opt for simpler options if
possible but spices have been used to enhance food throughout history for a reason. The reason is that
if you use them correctly, you can enhance both nutrition and flavor. To get a truly flavorful steak,
consider seasoning it with the following spices.
Salt
Salt is the essential seasoning for savory dishes. For steak, you will want to use a salt with fine
crystals. The reason is that those crystals will dissolve more quickly and take less time to be absorbed
into the meat. Larger crystals will not dissolve unless there is a lot of water present. You can use
kosher salt or any other large crystal salt as a finishing salt to be sprinkled onto the meat after it has
been cooked. You will want these salts to stick around since their purpose is as much to enhance the
presentation as it is to enhance the flavor and texture. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Note that for best results, the black pepper that you use should be freshly ground. Ideally, you should
grind the pepper right onto the steak just before it goes on the grill or into the cast iron skillet. Like
many spices, black pepper loses its flavor quickly after being ground. The mild heat of black pepper

The Birthplace of American Patriotism
By now, the British had defeated Napoleon and could engage their entire military on the war across
the sea. The plan to force President Madison to surrender was a three part invasion. One force would
attack the north, coming in through Lake Champlain, sailing down the Hudson River and advancing
into New York. The second force would strike the Chesapeake area and capture Washington and
Baltimore. The third would advance into New Orleans through the Gulf of Mexico and take control of
the Mississippi River. Though the attack on the Chesapeake was planned as a distraction to the other
two parts of the plan, the militias in Maryland fell so easily to the British that they kept advancing in
that area. First, the British marched into the capital, Washington D.C., trampled the American soldiers
attempting to halt them, and set fire to all of the important buildings, including the President s
Mansion, the Capital, and US Treasury. The tragedy fogged the Americans sight of victory but did not
dampen the soldiers spirits and will to defeat the military super power. Next, the British moved on to
Baltimore, a busy trading port and a source of well built warships. General George Armistead
commanded Fort McHenry, Baltimore s blockade to incoming attackers. Armistead rallied the
residents of the city to build fortifications and join the ranks in the fort. He ordered a giant flag to be
sewn to show the British that Baltimore was ready to fight. As dawn arrived, so did the British. Led by

Gilles De La Tourette Syndrome
Abstract: Tourette syndrome is a neuropsychiatric condition characterized by both motor and phonic
tics over a period of at least one year with the onset in childhood or adolescence. Apart from the tics,
most of the patients with Tourette syndrome have associated neuropsychiatric comorbidities consisting
of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, rage attacks, sleep issues,
depression, and migraine. Patients may also have physical complications directly from violent motor
tics which can rarely include cervical myelopathy, arterial dissection and stroke. The purpose of this
article is to review the associated neuropsychiatric comorbidities of Tourette syndrome with emphasis
on recent research. Key Words: Tourette syndrome (TS); Neuropsychiatric comorbidities; Attention
Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD); Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD); Neurologic
complication; Migraine. Introduction: Gilles de la Tourette Syndrome (TS) is a neuropsychiatric
condition characterized by both motor and phonic tics with the onset in childhood or adolescence.
First described by French physician Georges Gilles de la Tourette in 1885, it is considered to be as one
of the most common childhood movement disorders. As per the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of
Mental Disorders Fifth Edition s (DSM V), TS is diagnosed clinically by the presence of multiple
motor and one or more phonic tics, lasting at least one year with the onset prior to age 18 (1). TS is

Consequences Of Forbidden Love In Romeo And Juliet
In the tragic play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, a memorable idea was forbidden love.
The play centers on the ill fated love between the adolescent offspring of two warring, families of
medieval Verona. Because of the feud between the families, Romeo and Juliet s love and secret
marriage was destined for tragedy, not only for them but also the families. The idea of forbidden love
drives the entire plot and without it the story would not nearly be as dramatic. It helps the reader
understand the consequences of their relationship. We can see clearly through the entire story the idea
of forbidden love, for example in Act 2 Scene 2, Juliet cries out O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou
Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name! Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, And I ll no
longer be a Capulet. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story would not have been the same and definitely would not have been a tragedy either if their
love was not forbidden. Because of their families hate for each other, they could not be together.
Forbidden love is the main reason that Romeo and Juliet had to be married in secret and planned to be
be together in private, there would be no tragedy if this wasn t necessary. Juliet wouldn t have had the
problem of Lord Capulet arranging marriage with Paris and they wouldn t have needed to do anything
in secrecy. One of the main reasons that forbidden love played a bigger part was because, the Capulets
would have been fine if Juliet had married any other man and there would be no problems or tragedy.
But because Juliet fell in love with Romeo, the heir to the Montagues, her family s enemies, they
needed to keep their love secretive. They did not want to tell their families of their love and they
needed to be together quick as Juliet was arranged to be married to Paris. All in all, there would be no
tragedy if their love was not

California Fire Department
In 1970, the Chaparral Region of Southern California suffered immense devastation from wildfires
that burned for several days, burning more than half a million acres of land, destroying over 700
structures and killing 16 people. During the subsequent debriefing and critiques done by the two
primary agencies, Los Angeles County and Los Angeles City Fire Departments, four major obstacles
were identified. The two departments agreed that while there was cooperation between the
departments, the identified obstacles definitely impeded the efforts put forth to extinguish the fire.
Terminology between the departments was an initial obstacle that needed to be addressed. The critique
found that because each agency had a variety of terms for the same equipment, there was confusion
when requesting or identifying it. Due to the lack of distinct planning for the wild land fires, the
commanders did not have the ability to deploy the proper units when or where needed. Units were
incorrectly sent to areas, or mistakenly instructed to stand down or stay in quarters when not needed.
The inconsistency in response plans of the different agencies was also an obstacle worth discussing.
Again, each agency had there own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Vampire Diaries Characters
The T.V show The Vampire Diaries is a CW teen drama series that involves danger, romance, action
and suspense. The show is not just about vampires and werewolves, but it also has other supernatural
elements such as hybrids, witches and vampire hunters. Let s just say that even though it s compared
to the Twilight movies, The Vampire Diaries is an old fashion love story where you can expect the
unexpected. Where the audience can also connect with the character s situations. Even though it s a
fictional show, it involves real life situations that an ordinary person can go through. The producer
Julie Plec did a beautiful job with the plot, the relationship of the characters, how the show itself
connected with the audience, and the setting.
Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev), recently an orphan, lives in her hometown Mystic Falls with her aunt

Mercury And Its Effects On Mercury
Mercury is a heavy, silver white, highly toxic metallic element. It is the only metallic element that is
liquid at room temperature. Mercury can be used in thermometers, pesticides, pharmaceutical
preparations, surfaces of mirrors, and dental fillings. There are several forms of mercury which
include elemental or metallic mercury, inorganic mercury compounds, and organic mercury
compounds. Elemental/metallic mercury is liquid at room temperature and turns into a colorless,
odorless gas when heated. (Mercury: Basic Information, 2014) Mercury is found both naturally and as
an introduced contaminant in the environment. Some of the natural sources of mercury are volcanoes,
forest fires, and fossil fuels such as coal and petroleum. When coal is burned, mercury is discharged
into the environment. The largest human caused source of mercury emissions into the air in the United
States are coal burning power plants. Coal burning power plants account for over fifty percent of all
domestic human caused mercury emissions. (Mercury: Basic Information, 2014) Other ways that
mercury can be released into the environment are by burning hazardous wastes, producing chlorine,
and improper treatment/disposal of products that contain mercury. Mercury in the air settles into the
water or land, where it can be washed into water. When the mercury is deposited, some organisms can
change it into methyl mercury. Methyl mercury is a very toxic form that builds up in fish, shellfish,
and animals that

Analysis Of The Simple Meter By The Solmization
1. For the examples in the simple meter, the solmization could be briefly divided into two groups. The
first group focuses on the metrical positions. Each beat in the measure is either spoken as numbers or
specific syllables, and the subdivisions are either specified with distinct different syllables (e.g. the
third and fifth one) or not as precisely defined (e.g. the forth one). The second group focuses on the
duration of the notes, as seen in the last 3 examples. The sixth example assigns a specific syllabus to a
rhythmic value, while the seventh is a little more vague on that, while it has a better ability to
emphasize strong beats as the quarter note gets the ta and ti lies on accented moments most of the
time. The last one which uses well known words makes use of the natural speech rhythm to perform
the job of the syllables in the sixth and seventh example.
The examples which emphasized note value still operate in the same way as simple meter when it
comes to compound meter, but the others show more variations in thoughts. The first example counts
the subdivisions as the basic unit. In this case, instead of thinking in meter, it acts more like the ti ri ti
ri method which focuses on the duration of the notes. The ones which still focuses on the meter
(2,3,4,5,8,9) still make use of the syllables to subdivide the beat. Example 2 and 4 specifies each
subdivision up to the sixteenth note level, while others are not as precise. For examples 6, only the
beat is spoken

Money Can Buy The Pursuit Of Happiness
MONEY When it comes to the topic of money granting happiness, most of us readily agree that it can
because it gives us status, value, and happiness in society s modern culture. Where this agreement
usually ends, however, is on the question of money not being able to buy the pursuit of happiness.
Whereas some are convinced that money grants once in a lifetime experience, medical help for loved
ones, and pleasurable life necessities, others are convinced that they don t need money to be happy
and would rather be poor and happy than rich and miserable. Money is used for buying, giving, and
having fun with it. Money is everything in today world, and not a lot of people have money so there
chances of being happy is very unlikely. According to John Grohol Psy. D, a researcher and writes
about mental health psychology and technology issues, states, Money can buy you happiness as long
as you give some of the money away, or use it for an experience rather than buying a product because
as you may not be aware of, recent studies have shown that we are generally happier when we spend
money on experience (Grohol 1). To me money can buy you happiness because it changes our mood
and how we feel because it s undeniable. I also concord with John when saying we should give some
money away. For example, give some money to charities or to unfortunate people because some
people need it more than we do. It will basically make us feel happier at the end of the day. To me, if

2,000 years ago the world, in terms of population, was only the size of the United States of America,

rose at a steady rate from year 0, we would ve reached 1 billion people by about 210 A.D. This,
however, was not the case. We reached 1 billion people in 1800 A.D, which means that there had to be

Comparison of the Sumerian Gods and the Greek Pantheon

Comparison of the Sumerian Gods and the Greek Pantheon The Sumerian civilization existed an
estimated three thousand years prior to the Greeks (Powell p. 60). Although very little is actually
known about the Sumerian culture, archaeologists have unearthed ancient artifacts and clay tablets
containing cuneiform writing that have given historians bits and pieces of the stories that were told
during that time (Powell pg. 63 Figure 7.3). While the Sumerian empire ended thousands of years
before the Greek civilization began, there are striking similarities between the Sumerian gods and the
Greek pantheon, as well as a few differences. First of all, there is a substantial amount of resemblance
between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each of the Sumerian cities had a premier god that was worshipped above the others. Although the sky
god was the supreme god, it was not the most worshipped in all cities. This premier god tied to the
successes of the city as well as its fortunes, and was even thought to protect the city from harm. The
deity would be worshipped in a tall pyramid (also known as a ziggurat), which was built in the center
of the city, often on a hill or platform. This is identical to how the Greeks would build temples in
honor of their city s major deity. For example, the Parthenos (Temple of Athena) in Athens was where
the Greek god Athena was worshipped. According to Greek mythology, Athena and another god
Poseidon were in competition to see who would gain control over Athens. Poseidon gave Athens the
gift of a spring, and Athena gave the city the olive. Unfortunately for Poseidon, he was the god of the
seas and his springs were salty and not very useful for the people of Athens. However, the olive was
very useful as it provided food and oil. The olive became the main export of the city, and thus Athena
was heavily worshipped in Athens. Although the stories from the two cultures were similar in many
ways, there were a few noticeable differences. A big difference is the absence of a parallel for the
Greek god Hades. The closest thing to the Sumerians was the goddess Ereshkigal whom was more
reminiscent of Persephone than Hades. Another inequality was the Sumerian god Enki.

How Does Iago Present Evil In Othello
Evil is appears throughout the story through the menacing Iago and his devilish undertakings in
Shakespeare s Othello. Perceived as a sociopath, Iago antagonizes and fuels conflict. Firstly, evil
shows its presence when Iago manipulates Othello into thinking his love, Desdemona, cheated on him.
In response to Iago s insinuation Othello speaks, Nor from mine own weak merits will I draw/the
smallest fear or doubt of her revolt (III.III.218 219). Evil indicates its presence due to the creation of
doubt in Othello s conscious. Othello rejects his feelings saying, I ll see before I doubt; when I doubt,

In deep thought, Iago reveals one of his goals while speaking to the audience saying, Till I am evened
with him, wife for wife (II.I.321). This reveals that Othello might have slept with Iago s wife;
however, due to Iago s deceitful nature the reader is not sure. The phrase a wife for wife alludes to the
saying an eye for an eye, which indicates one of Iago s goals is to seek vengeance for a perceived
wrong (II.I.321). Iago hopes to put the Moor/At least into a jealousy so strong/That judgment cannot
cure (11.1.322 324). As Iago has fallen into a vengeful stupor, he hopes to torture Othello through the
same jealously in, which he was afflicted. Through emotional moments, evil reveals its true ambitions
like Iago with his vengeful thoughts or Othello when his suspicions of Desdemona s infidelity were
confirmed. An enraged Othello shouts, Hang her, I do but say what she is! (4.1.208 211). Emotional
instances, like this one, expose the character s true feelings and inner thoughts. The highly climatic
scene between Iago and Othello that left the latter nearly incapacitated, allowed for the Moor s inner
evil to reveal itself. Othello s evil thought, in accordance with Iago s, seeks revenge for a perceived

Persuasive Essay On Sex Offenders
Many of us were raised knowing the story of Daniel Morcombe, the thirteen year old boy snatched
from a bus station found murdered with the intention of rape, 8 years laters. Before the murder of
Daniel, Brent Peter Cowan was a known child sex offender who had two previous offences with
minimal penalty. In an interview with police Cowan stated I never got to molest him or anything like
that. He panicked and I panicked and grabbed him around the throat and before I knew it he was dead.
Daniel is one of many innocent and trusting children who have fallen victim to these vicious repeat
offenders. Outside of the family, the first people thought to be responsible when a child is murdered,
raped or abducted tend to be sex offenders in the area, so why must a child endure such a heinous act
before this information is revealed to the public? I firmly believe that communities should be notified
if and when a known predator on the paedophile and sex offenders registry has entered their
neighbourhood. (Quite engaging, with a strong contention.)
A Hanson and Morton Bourgon study found that over a 15 year time period, the rate for recidivism
was a terrifying 35% for child molesters of boy victims and 24% for rapists. It is vital to consider that
there is an abundance of victims whose trauma prohibits them from coming forward therefore a
thoroughly accurate representation of repeat offences is severely limited. Brent Peter Cowan is a
prime example of a sex offender, whose minimal

Affirmative Action Analysis
Affirmative Action: Overview A reflection on the society depicts the fact that it is composed of
individuals with varying differences aligned with gender, race, socio economic status, and education
levels. While it is true that all people should be equal irrespective of these factors, there is a need to
note that there exist a persistent discrimination of various people. Affirmative action has often been
poised as the most comprehensive means through which equality can be attained. While much has
been hypothesized regarding affirmative action, it is of the essence to note that it mainly connotes to
actions and policies that are intended to ensure equality for all people regardless of the differences
they exhibit (Bridges 73). Affirmative action is established with the sole intent of assuring equal

On top of exceptional students getting declined, prestigious schools are accepting less qualified

not (Robinson). The widespread college problem has no easy fix, nor does it have a single solution.
Rather than working to fix the unfixable, adults must stop putting such emphasis on the college
pathway, and instead stress that there are other options. The future of the job world is unknown; there
is no way to know if an expensive college education is the right choice. College, with all of its flaws,
is just one option in preparing for the future; it is not necessarily the best. Therefore, the single word,
college, should stop dividing the academic from the non academic or the successful from the
unsuccessful, and instead be considered a single path in an array of worthy

Victory Lap
Change can be seen as a form of transformation or conversion. A form of change can be seen in
Victory Lap by George Saunders, a short story written in such a way that the events that are enrolling
throughout the story are being processed and told through the minds of three main characters. Having
the perspective of each character allows us, the readers to get a much greater understanding about
them and to make a better character analysis. Having said that, this story is simply about a girl, Alison
getting kidnapped by an unnamed kidnapper. What were really captivating were the changes spotted
on characters as the conflict progresses. One character in particular is very intriguing and his name is
Kyle. One of our main character, Alison ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This overly cautious boy somehow finds himself rushing into the battlefront, where Alison was being
dragged without any plan of action or resolve: What was he doing... (79). We notice here that Kyle
doesn t even realize what he is doing as he incautiously rushes to the damsel in distress. This is quite
un Kyle like for he had not properly conducted solution in overcoming the problem. Quite a change
from the beginning of the story where Kyle would recognize the situation properly and come forth
with proper procedures in order to confront it, like he did when he walked in the house with his shoes
on and when he walked in the house with his dirty socks. Kyle changes from mentally rehearsing an
event to bluntly rushing into action. Kyle was raised in a very strict environment where he would
follow instructions that have been drilled into him all of his life. If he came home he would sign his
name as if punching in and out of a workplace. He has to take of his shoes before entering the house
and he has to record details in Kyle s Traffic Log requested by his dad. This is demonstrated when
Kyle spots the van of the supposed meter reader and proceeds to fill a report on this event: On the
counter was Kyle s Trafiic Log.... Smiling agreeably as if he

English, Language, And Language
To be fluent in any language, one must be literate. The definition of literate in this case refers to the
ability to read, write, and speak and language without the aid of a secondary source in a respectable,
normalized way. This is easily said but difficult to do in certain cases. English is known for its many
rules, and infamously known for the exclusions to all of the rules. As a result, I have had my fair share
of mispronouncing words because they were exclusions to a rule. On the other hand, it took me less
time to develop a sense of literacy in Spanish, as it is pretty structured grammatically and is phonetic
for the most part. Every sound is accounted for and there aren t as many exclusions or exceptions to
get hung up on. Even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be very confusing as the majority of the sentence are just random words drawn together that
won t make sense until it is looked over a few times. As someone who was burned and raised in
America the great, this sentence should have not taken more than one attempt to read. It did. I first
found it online, in individual parts: ( Through, tough and thorough thought, one may understand the
English Language , Can someone explain why pony and bologna rhyme ?!!1! and Lead and read
rhyme and so do lead and read but lead and read do not rhyme were each their own individual idea
posted by three different people). After I read each sentence like three times, and understood what
each one was saying, I married these sentences together and wrote the long sentence above in my 9th
grade Writer s notebook . This notebook housed everything high school freshman Nick thought was
related to English; I drafted all of my assignments, copied down grammar rules, and defined parts of
speech in this book. In fact, I believe the notebook itself shows personal growth in my English literacy
as it shows the gradual growth as a writer and the development of my writing. At the beginning of the
semester, we were asked to write a composition, which would be graded by the teacher. This
assignment is on the first two pages of the notebook written in ink with all of the scratch out words.

The Influence of Religion in Phillis Wheatley s Life Essay
The Influence of Religion in Phillis Wheatley s Life
Phillis Wheatley overcame extreme obstacles, such as racism and sexism, to become one of the most
acclaimed poets in the 18th Century. Her works are characterized by religious and moral backgrounds,
which are due to the extensive education of religion she received. In this sense, her poems also fit into
American Poetry. However, she differs in the way that she is a black woman whose writings tackle
greater subjects while incorporating her moral standpoint. By developing her writing, she began
speaking out against injustices that she faced and, consequently, gave way to authors such as
Gwendolyn Brooks and Countee Cullen.
On July 11, 1761, a slave ship from Fula, West Africa ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In general, religion was a large part of Boston. Few slaves were encouraged to attend church;
however, the Wheatleys attended New South Congregational Church and encouraged Phillis to
embrace the Lord as they had (Mason 4). Because she was asthmatic, she attended Old South
Congregational Church, which was closer to the Wheatley residence (Weidt 15).
By the age of twelve, she had become quite familiar with the Bible as well as literary works of
contemporary English poets. In addition, she translated works by the Latin and Greek writers Ovid
and Homer, respectively (Mason 4). At this same time, after being in Boston for about four years, she
began to take an interest in writing (Mason 4). Susanna supplied Phillis with paper and ink to enable
her to write and even allowed Phillis to ignore her household duties to write emdash;something that
was practically unheard of for a slave (Mason 5). However, Susanna was accommodating because she
wanted Phillis to pursue her religious education and believed that writing would enable her to do so.
Phillis fascination with writing grew, and as time passed, she became especially interested in authors
that shared her religious beliefs. Her favorite writer was Alexander Pope, who was also a Christian. He
was famous for his elegies, which usually had some uplifting conclusion, where hope and love and
faith usually triumph over death to honor

  • 2. The Cause Of Maternal Death Worldwide Abstract Maternal sepsis is preventable, yet remains the leading cause of maternal death worldwide, according to a study published in 2013 (Acosta Knight, 2013). Early recognition of symptoms and implementation of correct treatment is key to prevent mortality. A break in nursing education can prevent prompt treatment to patients. Given that pregnant women are more vulnerable to infection and susceptible to serious complications, makes a clear understanding of maternal sepsis imperative (Joseph, Sinha, Paech, Walters, 2009). The purpose of this project was to determine if there is a need on Memorial Hospital s LDRP unit for more education related to maternal sepsis. Memorial Hospital, located in York, Pennsylvania is a small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though sepsis is a major contributor to maternal mortality, septic shock in pregnancy fortunately is relatively rare, affecting only 0.002% to 0.010% of all births (Dutra Olvera, 2016). Regardless of how low the statistics, maternal mortality happens and the preparedness of units will influence a positive outcome. A needs assessment identifies the discrepancy between the present knowledge and the desired knowledge to develop protocols and education which will bridge the gap between the what is and what should be . The needs assessment developed for the 23 staff members on the small LDRP unit of Memorial Hospital focused on what the end knowledge base should be. Questions were formulated after an extensive literature review, focusing on early recognition, definitions and specifics for care. This needs assessment will help implement protocols that will improve the care provided, as well as the comfort of the staff members face to face with perinatal mothers. Review of Literature Critical management of maternal sepsis is key in preventing mortality and identifying a patient at risk can help with initiation of management. There are many risk factors of sepsis during pregnancy. Hashmi and Khan (2014) identified that pregnant women are highly susceptible to infection due to the maternal immune response being decreased. Some of the risk factors named included cesarean ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. What Is The Eulogy For The Pursuit Of Happyness Statement of Intent: In this piece of writing, the eulogy is about mourning the loss of Christopher Gardner at the funeral, in the movie The Pursuit of Happyness . His son, Christopher who speaks at his father s funeral showing the relationship between him and his father and also show the impact that Christopher has made on his son. This eulogy is set shortly after the end of the movie. Welcome everyone, we have all gathered here to mourn the loss of a good man, Christopher Gardner, my father. I am glad that I got the chance to have a father like him. I have always admired him, adored him. He was my role model and still is, I look up to him. He is the best dad in the world ever. I remember some time ago when my parents separated due to some financial issues, I m not really sure though, but even in these times, my mom left me but my father stayed on my side. He never left me, he was there when I needed both my parents the most. He did everything in his power to keep me happy. I hope I was the son he wanted me to be, I hope I didn t disappoint him as his son. I will never forget the words he said to me that day, If you want something, go get it, period . • 4. Pre Ap Biology Research Paper Hannah Porter Mr. Condo Pre AP Bio 1 November 4, 2014 Pre Ap Biology Research Paper The cell is the basic unit of life and is the smallest, simplest organism that can perform all of life s functions. The cell was discovered in 1665 by Robert Hooke. The three types of cells are plant cells, animal cells, and prokaryotic cells. These cells share many qualities but are also different in many ways. There are a few organelles that exist in all three types of cells. The first of these is the cell membrane (also known as the plasma membrane). The plasma membrane is the outer boundary of the cell that protects the cell from its surroundings. It is selectively permeable because it controls what enters and exits the cell. Carl Naegeli and C. Cramer discovered the plasma membrane in 1855. The cytosol is also present in the Plant, Animal, and Prokaryotic cells. The cytosol is the thick, gelatin like liquid in the cell that accounts for almost 70% of its volume. The cytosol of a cell is the substance in which the organelles are suspended and it provides the proper conditions for their function and movement. The cytosol was discovered by Albert Claude, Christian de Duve, and George E. Palade in 1835. A third structure contained in all three types of cells is the ribosome. Ribosomes are spherical in shape and are made up of RNA and protein. They are often found on the endoplasmic reticulum. We all can choose the decisions we make, but fate cannot be changed, since it has already been predetermined. What happens will happen, but what changes will not change fate. Fate is also what changes you, if you think about it. All the events that have happened in the years of you being alive lead up to today; to who you are. All the decisions you ve made would end up driving fate into taking its own toll on future, driving up to where you currently are and making you who you are Fate is character William Winter. In the play Oedipus by Sophocles, Jocasta s (who is Oedipus s wife and mother) character would wind up changing because of fate. She did not choose for or expect for things to have change in such a negative way. Jocasta was forced to see her husband figure out that he was married to his mother She begged Oedipus not to go any further in the search of his true identity. Perhaps she did this because she was romantically in love with Oedipus, or maybe because she wanted things to stay as they were. This shows that Jocasta is secretive. • 6. The Use of Birds in Chronical of a Death Foretold by... In the novel, Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, birds are used as motifs intentionally in the imagery of scenes to convey sentiments, ideas and messages to the reader. Some of the roles taken by the symbolism of birds include indicating signs of the future and afterlife, supporting character portrayal and development throughout the text. The symbolism of birds is discussed in the essay because the recurring images of birds have a pertinent significance to the novella. In literature, birds are commonly viewed as signs of freedom while in flight, yet while they are entrapped in cages, they symbolize the struggle for freedom. Gabriel Garcia s usage of birds has both common and uncommon roles in the novel. The birds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Santiago seemed happy with his father until the latter died suddenly, three years before, (Marquez 7). The birds hold significance in this passage in the metaphor comparing bird shit to life ruining events. The reader learns more about Santiago when the narrator reveals that Nasar gained the good arts of valor and prudence (7) from his father and is a merry, peaceful, and openhearted (8) individual. Furthermore, Santiago is an aggressive wealthy individual that is compared to a sparrow hawk [...] just like his father, nipping the bud of any wayward virgin who began showing up in those woods, (90). • 7. What American Ideal Sets Our Country Apart As Unique And... What American ideal sets our country apart as unique and all its own, different from all other countries in the world? The idea of true liberty, or freedom from oppression within society (Oxford Dictionary), can be seen throughout American culture. This quality, however, has not always been equally demonstrated to all groups of people. Ever since the founding of the country, the African American community has strived for liberty and equality in society. After being pushed down into the chains of slavery, they began to rise and fight for what was rightfully theirs through the blood, sweat, and tears of many. The American ideal of liberty has gradually expanded and provided new opportunities for the once enslaved community of African Americans; this expansion has been the result of the lifelong efforts and struggles of members of that community like Olaudah Equiano, Frederick Douglass, Mr. Ryder, W.E.B. DuBois, and Booker T. Washington. Olaudah Equiano grew up as a free boy in Africa. In his narrative, he defined liberty when describing his village as celebrating every great event... in public dances, which [were] accompanied with songs and music suited to the occasion (Equiano 356). Before Africans were enslaved, they were a free race in their own land. The native Africans understood liberty as the ability to govern themselves and hold their livelihood in their own hands. • 8. The Earned Income Tax Credit The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a federal program that provides low to moderate income workers, including many who are poor, with extra income through tax refunds. It also encourages low income parents to go to work by lowering their tax rate and providing a financial bonus for their work effort. Congress originally approved the tax credit in 1975 partly to help offset the burden of social security taxes for families and to provide an incentive to work. When the credit exceeds the amount of taxes owed, it results in a tax refund to those who claim and qualify for it. It s been especially effective in encouraging single parents, mainly single mothers, to obtain employment. In 2003 alone, this tax credit provided 22 million American families and their children, with $34 billion in cash assistance (Francis 2014). The credit has been expanded several times since its creation, and more than half of the U.S. states and the District of Columbia now have their own supplemental EITCs. There are four main qualifications needed to receive the credit. First, an individual must have a valid Social Security number. Second, an individual must earn income either from working for someone else or from owning or operating a business. Third, an individual must be a U.S. citizen or resident or the spouse of a U.S. citizen or resident for the entire tax year. The reality is that even a good cut of meat will need some seasoning if you want to maximize your enjoyment and the nutritional benefit that you get from it. You should opt for simpler options if possible but spices have been used to enhance food throughout history for a reason. The reason is that if you use them correctly, you can enhance both nutrition and flavor. To get a truly flavorful steak, consider seasoning it with the following spices. Salt Salt is the essential seasoning for savory dishes. For steak, you will want to use a salt with fine crystals. The reason is that those crystals will dissolve more quickly and take less time to be absorbed into the meat. Larger crystals will not dissolve unless there is a lot of water present. The plan to force President Madison to surrender was a three part invasion. One force would attack the north, coming in through Lake Champlain, sailing down the Hudson River and advancing into New York. The second force would strike the Chesapeake area and capture Washington and Baltimore. The third would advance into New Orleans through the Gulf of Mexico and take control of the Mississippi River. Though the attack on the Chesapeake was planned as a distraction to the other two parts of the plan, the militias in Maryland fell so easily to the British that they kept advancing in that area. First, the British marched into the capital, Washington D.C., trampled the American soldiers attempting to halt them, and set fire to all of the important buildings, including the President s Mansion, the Capital, and US Treasury. The tragedy fogged the Americans sight of victory but did not dampen the soldiers spirits and will to defeat the military super power. The two departments agreed that while there was cooperation between the departments, the identified obstacles definitely impeded the efforts put forth to extinguish the fire. Terminology between the departments was an initial obstacle that needed to be addressed. The critique found that because each agency had a variety of terms for the same equipment, there was confusion when requesting or identifying it. Due to the lack of distinct planning for the wild land fires, the commanders did not have the ability to deploy the proper units when or where needed. Units were incorrectly sent to areas, or mistakenly instructed to stand down or stay in quarters when not needed. The inconsistency in response plans of the different agencies was also an obstacle worth discussing. Again, each agency had there own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The largest human caused source of mercury emissions into the air in the United States are coal burning power plants. Coal burning power plants account for over fifty percent of all domestic human caused mercury emissions. • 32. Analysis Of The Simple Meter By The Solmization 1. For the examples in the simple meter, the solmization could be briefly divided into two groups. The first group focuses on the metrical positions. Each beat in the measure is either spoken as numbers or specific syllables, and the subdivisions are either specified with distinct different syllables (e.g. the third and fifth one) or not as precisely defined (e.g. the forth one). The second group focuses on the duration of the notes, as seen in the last 3 examples. The sixth example assigns a specific syllabus to a rhythmic value, while the seventh is a little more vague on that, while it has a better ability to emphasize strong beats as the quarter note gets the ta and ti lies on accented moments most of the time. The last one which uses well known words makes use of the natural speech rhythm to perform the job of the syllables in the sixth and seventh example. The examples which emphasized note value still operate in the same way as simple meter when it comes to compound meter, but the others show more variations in thoughts. The first example counts the subdivisions as the basic unit. In this case, instead of thinking in meter, it acts more like the ti ri ti ri method which focuses on the duration of the notes. The ones which still focuses on the meter (2,3,4,5,8,9) still make use of the syllables to subdivide the beat. Example 2 and 4 specifies each subdivision up to the sixteenth note level, while others are not as precise. For examples 6, only the beat is spoken ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Money Can Buy The Pursuit Of Happiness MONEY When it comes to the topic of money granting happiness, most of us readily agree that it can because it gives us status, value, and happiness in society s modern culture. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of money not being able to buy the pursuit of happiness. Whereas some are convinced that money grants once in a lifetime experience, medical help for loved ones, and pleasurable life necessities, others are convinced that they don t need money to be happy and would rather be poor and happy than rich and miserable. Money is used for buying, giving, and having fun with it. Money is everything in today world, and not a lot of people have money so there chances of being happy is very unlikely. According to John Grohol Psy. D, a researcher and writes about mental health psychology and technology issues, states, Money can buy you happiness as long as you give some of the money away, or use it for an experience rather than buying a product because as you may not be aware of, recent studies have shown that we are generally happier when we spend money on experience (Grohol 1). To me money can buy you happiness because it changes our mood and how we feel because it s undeniable. I also concord with John when saying we should give some money away. For example, give some money to charities or to unfortunate people because some people need it more than we do. It will basically make us feel happier at the end of the day. To me, if you have ... Today, the world s population is at seven billion and counting. If the population rose at a steady rate from year 0, we would ve reached 1 billion people by about 210 A.D. This, however, was not the case. We reached 1 billion people in 1800 A.D, which means that there had to be very odd growth periods for the population as a whole REWORD ME. From 0 to 1000 A.D. the population only rose about 10 million people, and well into the second millennium, [the population] grew less than 0.1 percent each year [1]. Comparison of the Sumerian Gods and the Greek Pantheon Kevin November 6, 2013 Professor Comparison of the Sumerian Gods and the Greek Pantheon The Sumerian civilization existed an estimated three thousand years prior to the Greeks (Powell p. 60). Although very little is actually known about the Sumerian culture, archaeologists have unearthed ancient artifacts and clay tablets containing cuneiform writing that have given historians bits and pieces of the stories that were told during that time (Powell pg. 63 Figure 7.3). Although the sky god was the supreme god, it was not the most worshipped in all cities. This premier god tied to the successes of the city as well as its fortunes, and was even thought to protect the city from harm. The deity would be worshipped in a tall pyramid (also known as a ziggurat), which was built in the center of the city, often on a hill or platform. This is identical to how the Greeks would build temples in honor of their city s major deity. For example, the Parthenos (Temple of Athena) in Athens was where the Greek god Athena was worshipped. According to Greek mythology, Athena and another god Poseidon were in competition to see who would gain control over Athens. Poseidon gave Athens the gift of a spring, and Athena gave the city the olive. Unfortunately for Poseidon, he was the god of the seas and his springs were salty and not very useful for the people of Athens. However, the olive was very useful as it provided food and oil. The olive became the main export of the city, and thus Athena was heavily worshipped in Athens. Although the stories from the two cultures were similar in many ways, there were a few noticeable differences. A big difference is the absence of a parallel for the Greek god Hades. The closest thing to the Sumerians was the goddess Ereshkigal whom was more reminiscent of Persephone than Hades. Another inequality was the Sumerian god Enki. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In an interview with police Cowan stated I never got to molest him or anything like that. He panicked and I panicked and grabbed him around the throat and before I knew it he was dead. Daniel is one of many innocent and trusting children who have fallen victim to these vicious repeat offenders. Outside of the family, the first people thought to be responsible when a child is murdered, raped or abducted tend to be sex offenders in the area, so why must a child endure such a heinous act before this information is revealed to the public?
