The Treatment Of Stem Cell Therapy
Stem cell therapy, also known as regenerative medication, has been an increasingly utilized
therapy in recent years. The cells added to the body interact with the surrounding body, making
the regenerative process available to begin the healing process of the cells at the site (R. (2014)).
These therapies are used to heal common sport injuries such as a knee injury, diseases, arthritis,
and many other crippling effects that may occur in the human body (R. (2014)). Many of the stem
cells that are used from the therapies can come from bone marrow, fat,and blood from the patient or
even cells from more controversial areas such human embryos. Stem celltherapy has shown a lot of
promising effects, not only outshining the effects of prescription medicine given out to patients
from doctors, but it has also shown that the therapy has long term effects than a steroid would have
had.
Stem cell therapy is important because it has given hope to several people with common
illnesses such as arthritis, knee pains, and back pains by regenerating their cells to realize the
pain that they are in. Most of the patients who come in for sport related injuries are professional
athletes. Most of the time these athletes are the ones who have obtained a knee injury in
basketball or football and are resorting the use of a steroid to try to fix the pain, but soon realize
that it is not a long lasting effect. This is where stem cell therapy comes into play. Chris Johnson

Representation Of Symbolism In Herman Melville s Moby Dick
In Herman Melville s Moby Dick, the white whale has been a representation of many things,
including God, nature and specific origins of life that are beyond the control of mankind. The
quest to hunt down Moby Dick by the Pequod is seen as symbolic. For Ahab, slaying the sperm
whale is the main goal in his life. This can be extended symbolically so that the sperm whale
represents everybody s goals. His vengeance towards the sperm whale is similar to man s
struggle in contradiction of destiny. The only way out from Ahab s vision is often seen through
the Pequod s unusual meetings, called gams, with other ships. Upon finishing this novel, the
only representation that Moby Dick itself can be seen as, is a goal. Melville implies that humans
in general need to have a goal in life, or stating that such a goal can destroy one if no one ever
attains it. Although this novel was revolved around a white whale, it was not the only sea creature
that played an important role. The white whale was not the only life lesson represented in Melville
s Moby Dick, I argue that the giant squid carries numerous representations, the sharks represent
human nature and the brit represent human consciousness. In chapter 59 of the novel, Melville
highlights the significance of the form of the giant squid. Dagoo is the character who first spots
this white mass that he believes looks like Moby Dick. He and Ahab inaccurately mistake this giant
squid for Moby Dickbecause of the white color. Due to this

Today s Modern Army By The 442nd Infantry Regiment During...
Understanding and defining the impact on today s modern army by the 442nd Infantry Regiment
during WWII, is evident by their unique formation that stood out amongst organizations during that
period. While trying to compare the differences in social acceptance from a unit composed almost
entirely of Soldiers of Japanese ancestry, you must first understand the period in which this unit left
its legacy.
During one of the most controversial times in the history of diplomatic relations, Japan attacked
Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 without any formal announcement of war. Although the
transmissions from Japan were decoded, the actual declaration of war didn t reach the United States
until the following day. Unknown to many Americans that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Ultimately, this order would allow for the deportation of Japanese Americans to internment camps.
The deportation of the Japanese American men who relocated into the camps would eventually
make up roughly 14,000 of the men who would go on to serve in the 442nd.
Japanese American men originally categorized as enemy aliens went un drafted due to the
government automatically disqualifying anyone with Japanese ancestry. Eventually the War
Department called for the removal of all Soldiers of Japanese ancestry from active service. At the
time, General Emmons, who was serving as the commander of the U.S. Army in Hawaii,
discharged any man who fell under this order from the Hawaii Territorial Guard. He did however;
keep an estimated 1,300 Japanese American soldiers from the 298th and 299th Infantry Regiments
of the Hawaii National Guard. The discharged Japanese American men of the Hawaii Territorial
Guard petitioned the Generals decision and asked him to allow them to participate in the war.
General Emmons stated, although no formal documentation exists, that he would remain worried
about the loyalty of Japanese American no matter their birth place. He recommended to the War
Department all Japanese American men serving in Hawaii to be move to the mainland. The
authorization, granted by the War Department, allowed General Emmons to move the once called
Hawaiian Provisional Battalion, to Camp McCoy. Upon arrival of these

Advantages Of Khalifa Bin Saman Port
пЃ¶Introduction:
In this essay I am going to discuss how Bahrain developed the new Khalifa Bin Selman Port.
Moreover, I am also going to discuss the geographical factors and technological changes that
have happened over the last 100 years which have made it essential and possible for the Khalifa
Bin Salman Port to be constructed and built. In addition, the advantages of the new port compared
to the Mina Salman Port will also be discussed and listed in this essay. Moreover, in this essay; the
first oil well in Bahrain, dredging that helped build the new port, land reclamation, the sizes of the
ships, the King Fahad Causeway, the advantages of the new Khalifa Bin Selman Port will all be
discussed and the Oram s First Law of Mechanisation.
пЃ¶Timeline:
пЃ¶First port in Bahrian:
Bahrain has a strategic position because it is positioned in the centre of the gulf. The first port in
Bahrain was constructed in the 1930s. It was positioned on the north side of Bahrain at Mina
Manama. The port was small and it only could handle vessels drawing up to 4 meters of water and

Land reclamation is the idea of creating new lands from seas, oceans, rivers or lakes.
Reclamation is mostly done in coastal areas. There are different methods to land reclamation.
However, the most common method of land reclamation is when lands are filled with large
rocks or cement, or both. Then the area is covered by using dirt until it gets to the level of height
that is required. Bahrain spent over 79BD Million to start working on Khalifa Bin Salma Port.
The port is positioned on 110 hectares (ha) of reclaimed land (Ministry of Transportation and
Telecommunications, n.d.). The reclamation process was planned for Khalifa Bin Salman Port to
get the best possible location available in Bahrain for a port. As shown in the land reclamation

The Torture Of Torture Hitchens Summary
In Hitchens s story, the majority of his detail is dedicated to his personal experience. Hitchens
was brave enough to actually forbearance the torture of waterboarding. I was very gentle yet
firmly grabbed from behind, pulled to my feet, pinioned by my wrist (which were then cuffed to
a belt), and cut off from sunlight by having a black hood pulled over my face. (Hitchens, page
617). At this time, the trained men are starting to put Hitchens in the first steps of the torture.
Arms already lost to me, I wasn t able to flail as I pushed onto a sloping board and positioned
with my head lower than my heart. (Hitchens, page 617). Hitchens has been placed into position
to where he cannot move, or try to fight the integrator s, to start the torturing. This is when the
water starts getting poured onto his face. The fear of drowning is an understatement when it
comes to water boarding, because drowning is actually taking place. He began to hold is breath,
for as long as he could, before having to exhale. With exhaling comes inhaling, and when he
inhaled, the hood pulled over his face began to suction to his face. The inhalation brought the
damp cloths tight against my nostrils, as if a huge, wet paw had been suddenly and annihilatingly
clamped over my face. (Hitchens, page 618). Basically, what he is saying is that the suctioning of
the hood is making it even harder to attempt to breath. With all of this being said, Hitchens did not
last long before using the pre arranged

Rheumatology Personal Statement
One of my earliest memories, is watching a small figure hobble across the stones with disfigured
feet and toes. This was my grandmother and as she dragged her body riddled with what I now
believe to be rheumatoid arthritis I always wonder how her life might have been changed with
proper treatment.
Just when I thought Internal Medicine was my field, I was introduced to Rheumatology. It was
during my intern year when working in the Rheumatology Clinic. The core of my initial attraction
was the very proximity between Rheumatology and IM. Even as the mode of treatment hinged on
working with inherent uncertainty and innate complexity, you also needed to turn to IM
fundamentals to determine a diagnosis. Moreover, I found myself highly intrigued ... Show more

In that osteoporosis is a huge societal problem, causing a large number of fractures in the elderly
population and thus leading to a poor quality of life and worse, it was clear that education of
healthcare professionals was a must. Since the USPSTF guidelines state that all women over age
65 should get dexa scans to screen for osteoporosis and start on appropriate therapy to prevent
these fractures, it soon became clear that in our resident run outpatient clinics we were doing a
very poor job in this area. As such, with two colleagues, we designed an intervention protocol based
on provider education on osteoporosis for all residents, attendings, nurse practitioners and physician
assistants. Succinctly, the intervention increased the rate of dexa scan ordering by 34% and this
trial is now in its second phase.
There have been other equally important turning points to date. In my rotation at Georgetown, I
sought to explore the field of rheumatology at a tertiary level and in doing so, gained experience
in common autoimmune conditions and some rare ones as well all which served to solidify my
interest in the field. One of the most pleasant aspects of my duties at Georgetown was the
opportunity to work with children. In taking pediatric rheumatology consults, I realized that as a
rheumatologist I may be able to care for patients of all age groups, leading to an interesting and

The Influence Of Local Primitive Art On A Modern Artist
The Influence of Local Primitive Art on a Modern Artist Modern art has been influenced by
primitive art from Africa and the Indian Islands but Barbara Hepworth was influenced by the
hills and landscape around here. Her work Simple Form, 1937 (fig. 1) is reflective of the
landscape and the rock outcropping in the area around where she grew up. This artist did not
have to look to a different country for primitive art to inspire her work. The primitive artists also
seem to have been inspired by these same outcroppings of rocks in much the same way. Like
other modern artists Hepworth was breaking down the form to its essential form.Hepworth
expressed that it was the landscape of her childhood that impressed upon her and where she
looked to for inspiration. When Hepworth talks about the landscaped that inspired her work from
early memories in her autobiography. Hepworth s father would take her on drives in the
countryside. It is quite possible these Bridestones are apart of that inspiration. Hepworth rights
about these memories and says Above all, there was the sensation of moving physically over the
contours of fulnesses and concavities, through hollows and over peaks feeling, touching, seeing,
through mind and hand and eye Hepworth s family was very loving and supporting of her and her
parents made sacrifices for Hepworth to every advantage she could. Many of Hepworth s early
works have to do with woman, mother and child, and shapes that mimic a woman s figure as

Antigone And Creon
The character Creon in Oedipus the King and in Antigone is quite present in both plays. He is a
vital character. In Oedipus the King , Creon was sent to the Oracle of Delphi to find out how the
city could be saved from the plague. He was later accused of being against Oedipus when Creon
brought the news that he was the killer of King Laius, Oedipusmust die to end the plague. After all
the truth was released, Creontries to convince Oedipus to be buried in Thebes when he was dying,
because a prophecy once said that the land would be blessed wherever Oedipus eternally rests. In
Antigone, Creon is the new king of Thebes. One of Antigone s brothers were fighting for the
country and one was fighting against it. Creon s edict was that Eteocles, the brother fighting for
the country, would have a traditional burial and will be honoured. On the other hand, Creon
forbids that Polyneices has a burial. He wants his body to rot because he was fighting against the
country. He proclaims that anyone who buries him will be sentenced to death. By the time Creon
reconsiders and realizes how stubborn he was acting, it is too late and he is cursed with death upon
his family.

Nanking was not the only place of Japanese Army atrocities. Nanking held the distinction of
allowing foreigners to witness and survive the atrocities. I learned from the story that the
Japanese Army would take drastic measures to eliminate a people, to systematically use every

got in your way and people you just took pleasure in killing. To even invite fellow military
personnel who were not even involved to come and watch as if it is some side show. A sick pride

Essay about The Moral Permissibility of Lying
The Moral Permissibility of Lying
Missing Works Cited
The question of what constitutes morality is often asked by philosophers. One might wonder why
morality is so important, or why many of us trouble ourselves over determining which actions are
moral actions. Mill has given an account of the driving force behind our questionings of morality.
He calls this driving force Conscience, and from this mass of feeling which must be broken
through in order to do what violates our standard of right, we have derived our concept of morality
(Mill 496). Some people may practice moral thought more often than others, and some people may
give no thought to morality at all. However, morality is nevertheless a possibility of human nature,
and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because silence is not the truth, so by remaining quiet, that person is not telling the truth.
A more recognizable form of lying is outright lying, such as when a student claims to be working
hard on her philosophy paper when she has in fact been partying at Myrtle Beach for the last two
days. Deception is yet another form of lying, because by tricking another person into believing
something false, one is withholding the truth from that person. By withholding the truth, the truth
is not being told, so the deceiver must be a liar. Regardless of the form in which a lie is being
presented, all lies have one thing in common. By giving others false thoughts or perceptions of an
event, lies can have a strong influence on our free thinking. Therefore, they are all violations of
human reason, something that many people strongly respect. As we will see shortly, the ability to
reason is also considered valuable to both Mill and Kant, since it underlies both of their moral
theories.
Utilitarianism is a consequentialist theory, as explained by the philosopher Mill. Given several
choices, a utilitarian would pick the morally correct choice by using the Greatest Happiness
Principle (487). By looking at whether the consequences of an action will produce the greater
happiness for the greater number of people than another action would, one can

Contrast Communism And Communism
Liberalism and Communism, two ends of a spectrum, two ideologies that people have long seen as
being diametrically opposed to each other. Though these aforementioned philosophies have some
truths in them, they are not completely consistent with facts. Communism is often flagrantly
misunderstood in America; it brings up images of the communist programs in Russia, Cuba, and
China, of ruthless dictators, forced workmanship, and long ration lines, though these images are
propaganda based and misconstructions, as none of those countries were ever communist regimes.
What is most often overlooked in communismis the similarities that it shares with liberalism. Both
ideologies believe in the uniqueness of the individual, that the private person... Show more content

Liberals see it as their goals to bring about an open and tolerant society, one where all citizens are
free to pursue and follow their beliefs and ideals with as little interference as possible.
On the other hand Communism is an ideology that did not come about until the second half of the
19th century. It is an economic political philosophy founded by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engles(2),
the main goal of communism is the destruction of class structure and the ending of capitalism.
That is the biggest difference between the two ideologies; they both disagree on the role of the
market and how the economy should be based. Liberalism actively encourages the growth of the
market and capitalism. Most liberals believe that the economy should not be regulated by the
government in any way or form. It is imperative to realize that the reason liberals believe that the
economy should be unregulated is because they have a different viewpoint of the worth and levels
of equality that each individual is born with.
First and foremost, both liberals and communists believe that all humans are equal and should be
treated as such. That there is an interconnectedness between all people. Both ideologies stress the
fact that the individual self should be satisfied first so that the society, in its sum total, can work
successfully. These sentiments are echoed in the words of John Stuart Mill, who writes that When I
say only himself, I mean directly, for whatever affects himself, may

Jules Ferry s Speech On Imperialism
According to the content section of this chapter Imperialism, means, the subjugation, domination,
and exploitation of almost the entire globe to the economic and political needs of one region
(Europe), a development unprecedented in human history. To a neutral viewer this may appear like
a beneficial idea. During the 1800s and early 1900s, Imperialismwas seen as a benefit to some and
others did not see it as this. Many European nations such as Great Britain, France, Germany,
Belgium, as well as some other nations were gaining land. Many people had opposing views
regarding imperialism. Those who were in favor of imperialism often argued that it was beneficial
based on nationalism, economic gains, the fervor missions of the Christians,... Show more content

Jules Ferry s idea about making the trade better is a great idea, but unfortunately would not work
like he thinks. The other country would not be willingly let imperialists take over. Jule s speech
continues with a response from M. Camille Pelletan, an honorable audience member, he states
What is this civilization which you impose with can non balls? What is it but another form of
barbarism? Don t these populations, these inferior races, have the same rights as you? Aren t they
masters of their own houses? (258). Pelletan jeers and condemns Ferry, but Ferry sticks to his racist
ideas and continues to put the inferior races under him. Ferry continues to talk about the superiority
he thinks Europe has over everyone. He states, Gentlemen, I must speak from a higher and more
truthful plane. (258). Ferry is showing that he thinks he is superior to those he is speaking to and
sees himself as a superior to others and that he is above the inferiors. He then continues to make it
clear that superiors have control over the inferiors, It must be stated openly that, in effect, superior
races have rights over inferior races. (258). Throughout his speech, Ferry tries to show what the
positives of Imperialism is, but does not acknowledge the negatives for the expansion and take over
of certain territories.
The imperialists tried to make arguments that they were bringing only

Physician-Patient Relationship Paper
From this weeks, I have enjoyed readings from Dr. Toombs thesis. The physician patient
relationship has been extremely important in the healthcare industry. Rather than representing a
shared reality between the patient and the physician, illness often represents two different realities.
The first is that there is a meaning of one being significantly quantitative different from the other. It
is critical to realize that in order for a person to be treated in the right way, there is a need for one
to have good communication between the doctor and the patient.
The doctor and the patient have two different perspectives regarding illness. They each have their
own world and they look at it in their own way. In fact, the different perspectives often

Changing Medicare And Social Security
Changing Medicare and Social Security to means tested benefits Policy Analysis Notably, the
elderly populace is growing rapidly, and will reach 3.4 million or 12.8% of the population.
Eventually, in the next thirty years older adults will comprise of 20% of the total population due to
the aging of 76 million baby boomers (Olson, 2001). Seeing that, entitlementprograms and means
tested benefits, are presented, in order to bolster this increment of older adults. Accordingly,
around 96% of the American workforce is secured by Social Security and it is likewise estimated
that 58 million American will receive a total of $816 billion in Social Security benefits (Moody and
Sasser, 2015). In fact, today 56 million or 17% of the population is enlisted in Medicare(Leonard,
2015). Therefore, this has presented an open deliberation about the eventual fate of Medicare and
Social Security and regardless of whether changing Medicare and Social Security to means tested
benefits, instead of entitlementprograms can resolve the policy issues.
Discussion
At present, entitlement programs, which is, a federal program that guarantees a certain level of
benefits to persons or other entities who meet requirements set by law (Entitlement Program,
2015) incorporates programs, for example, Medicare and Social Security. However, because of
expanding insecurity of these programs the likelihood of changing Medicare and Social Security to
means tested benefits is being considered for a policy

The new economic policy of the united states should include cutting taxes, reducing governmental

Cutting taxes across the board including income tax rates, capital gains and estate taxes among

There are several ways in which the government can cut taxes while maintaining worthwhile
government subsidized programs, which will be discussed in this paper.
To have funded tax cuts the government will have to cut spending by eliminating waste and by
reforming while preserving needed entitlement programs such as Welfare, Social Security and
Medicare though slowing the rate of growth in spending on them. As quoted in a Business Week
editorial quot;Cutting the growth in Medicare spending by $150 billion would help open the way
for a truly balanced budget, lower interest rates and higher economic growth quot; (A Vote for a
Sensible Center 194).
To eliminate waste the government will have to cut programs that are no longer needed and
programs that overlap each other. quot; The federal government today has 163 separate job training
programs, 26 food programs and 180 educational programs. The government needs to eliminate
some, consolidate some and change others quot; (The Balance Sheet). The government can also cut
waste by cutting the amount of money that some of the governmental agencies receive for example
the quot;Republicans want to cut funding for the Commerce Department and the department of

President Lyndon. B Johnson and the Vietnam War Essay
The conflict in Vietnam for the United States started when President Dwight D. Eisenhower went
along with the domino theory and sent in military advisors in South Vietnam to stop the communist
movement from taking place in South Vietnam. The Vietnam conflict was between the communist
s and the United States. North Vietnam was led by Ho Chi Minh, and Ho Chi Minh led the Viet
Cong, a guerilla group to help spread communism. The United States were supporters of the South
Vietnam because they wanted them to maintain their government rather than falling to the domino
theory of communism. After Eisenhower s term ended John F. Kennedy became president and took
control of the situation of Vietnam but on November 22, 1963, Kennedy was... Show more content

What made this even more difficult was that he had not given much attention to Vietnam or to
foreign affairs in general (Moise 30). For a nation like the United States in need of a decision on the
fly, this was very troubling. Earlier President Johnson felt that Harry Truman, in 1950, had erred by
going into the Korean War without getting firm commitment of support from the congress (Moise
226). In other words it appeared to be that Johnson would be careful about getting involved in a
conflict like Vietnam. Being careful to say the least was not the case at all. There was not much
serious thought in escalating the Vietnam War until the Tonkin Gulf incident occurred. In the Gulf
of Tonkin it was reported that two American destroyers had been attacked by North Vietnamese PT
boats on August 4, 1964, (Friedman 293). Shortly after these incidents, Johnson immediately
escalated the war by ordering airstrikes on North Vietnam (Friedman 293). These events made it so
Johnson could raise United States involvement in Vietnam without congressional backing on his
decisions. Increasing involvement in the war was appealing though because after the Tonkin Gulf
incident support of military involvement in North Vietnam raised from thirty one percent approvals
to fifty percent approval (Moise 226). Although approval of the amount in favor immediately after
the Gulf of Tonkin incident rose, it was a mistake on Johnson s part... assuming that the

Sir Gawain is a great and noble knight of King Arthur s Court. He is, without a doubt, a true and
loyal knight to the king because he risked his life to preserve the king s life. He appears in Sir

Morte D Arthur where he is placed in a situation involving the queen where he must put his loyalty

The Life Of Gregor Samsa

The Life of Gregor Samsa in The Metamorphosis vs. Joseph Merrick, Elephant Man
One person who lived a life that greatly resembled Gregor is Joseph Merrick, the Elephant Man.
Merrick was afflicted with a genetic disease, possibly Proteus syndrome (James 554), that deformed
him to the point that his skin resembled an elephant. There were bony growths on his face and
body. From difficulty moving around to challenges with communications, there are many
similarities between the two men. However, there are also major differences between them. One of
the principal differences is their ability to keep their humanity and enjoy their lives. Their
afflictions came on them at different times as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gregor s family found his attempts to talk annoying and irritating. An inability to communicate
easily is a huge blow for someone trying to retain some humanity.
One great difference between the two men is that Merrick was able to communicate if he had
something to write on, whereas Gregor was not able to communicate well at all. Merrick wrote
letters to people who he had met and notes to the doctors and staff at the hospital where he spent
most of his adult life (Treves 1). Gregor tried to communicate by pushing things around, like his
food, and separating the stuff he wanted from what he didn t, so his sister would know what to
bring him. His sister seemed to understand this system of communications as she adjusted his
food accordingly, this made it more difficult for him when she stopped picking up on his hints
and did the minimum possible to keep him alive. He also pushed things around his room and hid
when people were coming in; this showed that he understood that they didn t want to see him.
Another major difference between the two men was that Gregor always had a place to live.
Merrick s father and step mother kicked him out of the house when he was 15. After that, he
lived with an uncle for a while, but when the uncle s family got too large to support another
person he went to a workhouse (Howell Ford 51). Gregor always had a place to live, it was the

Treatment Gap Barriers
The treatment gap is defined as the absolute difference between the number of individuals with a
disorder and the number of individuals who are receiving appropriate care in the health services
for that condition. The treatment gap can serve as an important public health indicator
highlighting the unmet need for mental health care (Kohn et al., 2004). As per the methodology
of Kohn et al., (2004), treatment gap (G) calculations take into account the service utilization rate
(Sc), the prevalence rate (Rc), and the population size (Pc). G= (i) The treatment gap for children
and adolescents appears to vary by diagnostic category (Table 4.5 in Kohn 2013). According to

Assessment in Music Education has been a hot topic for some time now. Questions have arisen

The Waterfall and Agile methods are amongst some of the most popular methods of software

Both articles also suggest that education is avkey issue on the eventual adoption of the Agile and
hybrid methodologies. Chatterjee suggests that hybrid approaches need to be slowly introduced
in the workplace with the software development culture embracing the Agile method. Missiroli,
Russo and Ciancarini suggest education as the root approach to make this change. However, it is
evident that both methods are necessary. In fact, in the article Hybrid Software and System
Development in Practice: Waterfall, Scrum and Beyond , the hybrid Water Scrum Fall method is
tested. The study found that it is in fact a widely used practice, regardless of company size,
industry and other external practices. Although it is still being tested with a larger population,
early conclusions suggest that the hybrid method is the best approach (Kuhrmann, et al., 2017,
pp. 30, 38 39). Therefore, each organization should focus on education with both methods and
adopt some level of a hybrid method. The next question is if there is a formal development
strategy that could be widely adopted or if both methodologies should be assessed on a case by
case basis and at different degree of granularity. 5.Application to my current

The Wizard Of Oz Character Analysis
Judy garland who is purportedly named Dorothy dale in the move the wizard of Oz is the main
protagonist in most of the Oz novels. Frank Baum created the fictional character who has been
idolized in the American movie culture because of the character she has played in most movies,
books, animations, games and on TV. At first she appeared in the novel the wonderful wizard of Oz
which was created in 1900 and thereafter, she was able to reappear in most of the sequels showing
her importance in various adaptations, notably, in the 1939 film named the wizard of Oz
(Pfefferman, 2013). in the movie, the wizard of Oz, she acts as a young orphaned girl from one
of the farms in Kansas which was owned by uncle henry and aunt Em. Life in the farm is
considered to be composed of hard work and it provided little opportunity for Dorothy to have
excitement in the farm. She is able to express her desires of exploring what was beyond Kansas
through the use of a wishful song of what might be lying at the other end of the rainbow. One of
the richest people in the town gets a permit of obtaining her dog, Toto, and she tries to save her
life by running away. She changes her mind and decided to go back home when a tornado drops
from the sky and everything changes radically in the movie.
Among some of the well remembered film appearances which garland played, one of the most
famous role was acting as Dorothy in the movie the wizard of Oz back in 1939. She has been

The Slide Layout is a setup which contains placeholders which hold the body text, titles, bulleted
lists, sounds, clip art, tables, graphics, and the theme of a slide which are fonts, colors,
backgrounds and their effects. A Slide Layout is basically where you layout how and what will be

list to use. Rearranging the order of placeholders by clicking on the edge then you should see a

placeholder click on it to select it then press Delete command on your keyboard. You can use
Insert Layout to add a new layout or you can rename a layout by right clicking your mouse on the
one you want to rename then click Rename and enter new name.
The Slide Library access can be accessed by anybody in your company whom you give
permission to do so. Setting up a Slide Library saves employees time because they share the
slides instead of starting from scratch. When slides are saved in the Slide Library the program
lets you know there has been an update to the slide and you can decide to accept the new
updates or use the older version. Files are time stamped and logged the employee s name and
when the file is returned the system shows who and when it was returned. To publish slides to a

Q2. Explain the part played by external pressure in the fight against apartheid and minority rule in
South Africa.
From 1960 onwards, when Harold Macmillan made his change of winds speech, the world started
to place external pressures on South Africa, and this was one of the main causes of the end of
apartheid. Economic sanctions and sporting isolation were the two main subdivisions of external
pressure.
Sporting isolation made South Africa realise that the minority rule and the apartheid regime was
greatly frowned upon by the rest of the world, and caused many Afrikaners to change their attitude
to the way the country was being run; this was because they didn t want to be excluded from the
rest of the world s competitions and tournaments solely for their governments issues; it made the
Afrikaners feel guilty for the regime ruling South Africa. This attitude would eventually help in
ending the apartheid regime.
Economic sanctions, however, were much more effective in the ending of minority rule. Foreign
countries saw South Africa as a risky country to invest in because the sanctions against South Africa
withdrew loans in businesses; businessmen found it harder to have prosperous companies

Why Some People Think That It s Dangerous Going Out The...
Why is it that some people think that it s dangerous going out the front door? There are many
ways why people will think that. The three ways that I find to be some major ways is, the person
might not be ready, the outside is full of dangerous people, and that the person might get with
the wrong group and get into bad things. Reason 1 of why I think that going out the front is
dangerous is that, the person might not just not be ready. There are many reasons why a person
might not be ready. They might not have the right education that they should have, they might
not be the best at getting a job. There could be many ways of why someone might not have the
proper education. First they might be a dropout so they never finished high school. In my
opinion high school is one of the most important times to get good grades. If you don t then it is
hard to get into college, jobs will see that you dropped out and might not hire you to work there.

Motion Cueing Simulation Analysis
Human factors issues in flight simulation have been identified to include motion sickness, motion
cueing, and adapting fidelity issues related to flying the simulator versus the actual aircraft. Also
there is the issue with older legacy simulators that are still in use and their limitations. It is an
accepted fact that aircraft simulator design is a balance between technology, design limitations, cost
and operational effectiveness and safe to assume that due to these limitations, the simulator will
never feel or fly exactly like the actual aircraft (Sewzey Andrews, 2001). In addition, the high cost
of building a simulator, the technical support and operation costs will continue to grow with

Students attend school starting at pre school then kindergarten, kindergarten to first grade and

Analysis Of The Hero s Journey
Small or big, everything we do in life is part of our journey. Reg Harris The Hero s Journey
describes the voyage one takes throughout life to grow and change as a person. He breaks the
journey down into eight steps leading to the return. It starts out as a goal that isn t always easy
to reach, one goes through hardship and personal doubts only to succeed and become a better
person. An example of this journey can be found in the movie, Troy through the character
Achilles. Achilles is a strong fearless warrior in the movie, Troy who goes through The Hero s
Journey and ends up with a change of heart. As the movie begins we are introduced to Achilles
as a fierce and strong warrior, fearing no one. He begins the first step of Harris journey, also
known as the call, when Odysseus goes to talk to him. Odysseus visits Achilles to ask him to
fight in the war in Troy. He describes the war as great and in need of their best warrior, the
perfect invitation into his journey. The second step in Harris journey is the threshold, where we
encounter obstacles and doubts. One of the main examples of threshold in Achilles life would be
his mother. When Achilles brings up that he has been invited to war his mother gives him two
options. Those options are to stay where he is a live a normal long life with a wife children and
happiness where not many would remember his legacy, or to go to war and possibly die fighting

Critical Analysis of The Pardon Essay
Critical Analysis of The Pardon
Death and life are intertwined in such a way that one cannot come without the other. Richard
Wilbur uses graphic description to clearly express this in his work The Pardon, through a series of
events that ultimately bring a man to learn to mourn, after causing him a lifetime without love. As a
young boy, the speaker is traumatized by the death of his dog, and is thus lead to pursue a life that
lacks both love and the recognition of death. As an older man, the speaker comes to terms with his

The boy is only allowing himself to be exposed to the sweeter scent of the honeysuckle, which
symbolizes his reluctance to accept death. As a young ten year old, the loss of a dog would
change the narrator s life significantly. Death something that he had never experienced before,
and to make it worse, it was happening to and individual which he had loved and had grown
extremely close to. The speaker openly tells us that he had been afraid. This fear that is instilled
in him was the seed for his inability to find love not only in life, but in death as well. Because he
knew nothing of death thus far in his life, he was so hurt by the loss of the dog that he stopped
loving it. The narrator was unable to find it within himself to forgive anybody for taking his
companion away from him, and at the same time, he went on to push away all affection and care
in his life; And I could not forgive the sad or strange in beast or man (lines 11 12). In doing this,
he was able to avoid dealing with the cruelty of death another time. There was no room inside of
him to forgive for all of the pain that he had to carry. From the point that his father took the
spade and buried [the dog] (lines 12 13), the narrator began to live his life stoically and plainly,
never stopping for love or to enjoy his years. This is apparent because at the end of the poem we
will see that he expresses his remorse for his past, and longs to mourn and love

Rape as a War Tactic in the Rwandan Genocide
The sweetly sickening odor of decomposing bodies hung over many parts of Rwanda in July
1994: . . . at Nyarubuye in eastern Rwanda, where the cadaver of a little girl, otherwise intact, had
been flattened by passing vehicles to the thinness of cardboard in front of the church steps,
(Deforges 6). The normalcy of horrible images like this one had cast a depressing gloom over
Rwandaduring the genocide, a time when an extreme divide caused mass killings of Tutsiby the
Hutu. Many tactics such as physical assault or hate propaganda are well known and often used
during times of war. Sexual assault and rape, however, during times of war is an unspoken secret it
is well known that rape occurs within combat zones and occupied territories, but... Show more

After she was seized, she had been raped multiple times not only because of her beauty, but also
because she had been sleeping with Tutsis which therefore meant that she could sleep with the
Hutu as well (Mullins 726). The woman had been raped in front of four Interhamwe soldiers as
well as a large group of refugees. In the chaos after of the rape by Musema, the woman was
ordered to turn over from her stomach to her back and raped by multiple soldiers in turns. Her
breast was cut off by one of the soldiers, which they tried to make her child eat (Mullins 726 727).
The violence and chaos allowed for the pre existing animosities to turn into the crime of rape. The
act, though isolated, was obviously meant directed towards the entire Tutsi population as a whole.
Alfred Musema was a man who often engaged in these opportunistic rapes, which were single
episode events (Mullins 726).
During the Rwandan genocide, some rapes occurred recurrently throughout a timespan. Sexual
enslavements occurred when a woman was detained, typically in the house of an Interhamwe, and
subjected to repeated sexual assaults over a period of days, (Mullins 727). These kinds of rapes
belong in their own category because of the added element of confinement and intent to continually
rape and therefore, harm. An Interhamwe soldier named Rafiki, personally sought out one Tutsi
woman whom he had

The War Experience in Italian Film Essay
The War Experience in Italian Film
The experience of war as it is presented throughout the history of Italian cinema is a uniquely
composite display of historical reverence and cultural consecration. An analysis of this experience
in all of its manifestations can be discerned from the evaluation of one or several works from the
post World
War II period within the corpus of the Italian cultural signification. It follows from this approach
that the essence of the results of this analysis will then represent an appreciative grasp of the
aforementioned corpus. The war experience in Italian film can be succinctly considered through a
detailed analysis of Rome, Open City (Roma, CittГ Aperta, Roberto Rossellini, 1945),

The film, which contains moments ranging from dark comedy to poignant melodrama, also relies
on stock documentary footage and intimate battle sequences to supplement the enthralling story.
The narrative progression of the film carries through effortlessly, and is accompanied by
rhetorically inventive dialogue and character associations that operate on the allegorical level. For
instance, one scene in which a group of Nazi officials murder a sheep operates metaphorically to
link Christianity to communism while simultaneously equating the fascists with butchers of the
innocent. (Forgacs 9 45)
Concomitant with this method of scrutinizing the film, many of the characters names are subject to
onomastics. Giorgio Manfredi, who later in the film changes his identity to Giovanni Episcopo, is
switched from association with St. George (typically shown slaying a dragon) to St. John (the
martyred priest of ancient Rome). The priest, Pietro Pellegrini, is translated as
Peter Pilgrim. He is associated, by virtue of his name, with the side of good and in the dominion of
religion represents a modern analog of St. Peter (A martyr who was put to death during the Roman
persecutions). Giussepina
(Pina), is the female form of Joseph, who was the patron of the Universal church. Lastly there is
Romoletto, the neighborhood child that sabotages the
Nazi events and chants the themes of the resistance without knowing their meaning. His name is
translated as little

Bees Vs Honey Bees
When you are stung by a bee for the first time you won t have a severe allergic reaction, even if
you first reaction is mild the reactions get worse with each sting you receive from the bee. Most
bees can sting more than once, but it depends on the type of bee it is. Honey bees for example die
after the first sting they give you. Only female bees and wasp can sting you because venom pumped
from attached venom sacs, is injected into the victim through stylus. When a beeor wasp stings you,
the lancets become imbedded in your skin. They pull the stylus into your flesh and the venom sacs
pump venom through your body. Different kinds of bees live in different habitats. The bumble bee
often nests in the ground even though they can sometimes be

Cost Analysis Of Tables For Annual Booksale
Cost Analysis of Tables for Annual Booksale
Summary
The Friends of the Metropolitan Library System can save approximately $4,400/year by owning
and storing tables for the booksale instead of renting. If the Friends used the Old Sort Site
warehouse, with a small external storage site, the savings could grow to approximately $5,600/year.
Wondering why the Friends did not supply their own tables, I asked several other vol unteers about
the subject while at the 2016 Booksale. The most common reason was a lack of storage facilities,
coupled with the costs (manpower and financial) associated with transporting them. In this report I
attempt to quantify the ongoing requirements associated with ownership.
Renting approximately 480 tables has a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Storage Requirements:
One possible storage site for these tables is in the Friends Old Sort Site (1350 NE 3rd St.) When I
volunteered at 2016 s Move Out, there was enough room left over to park a truck inside the
building. If this space is not used through the rest of the year as New Sort Site overflow, then a
space of easily 10 by 32 feet is available, capable of holding up to 360 tables placed on end against
the long wall. Even more could be held if they were laid flat and stacked over 8 high. Limiting the
tables to a space 10 wide, 32 long, and 13 high holds 423 tables.
The tables can also be stored in self storage units. Two locations close (about 4 miles) to the
Oklahoma Expo Hall were Public Storage at 4105 S May and SecurCare Self Storage at 5110 NW
10th St.
Public Storage had two sizes of interest: 10x10, holding about 110, and 10x20, hold ing 220 tables.
Monthly rent is $68 and $108/month respectively.
SecurCare Self Storage had many more options:
5x15 (80 tables) $52 10x10 (110 tables) $69 10x15 (160 tables) $85 10x20 (220 tables) $87 10x22

Cm Case Studies

Twenty two patients had clinical encounters recorded. Of the twenty two transcripts, six encounters
did not include any CPM discussion and were not analyzed further. Within the remaining sixteen
encounters, 3 styles of CPM discussion emerged: (a) No initial patient treatment preference; (b)
patient initially wants CPM; (c) physician recommends CPM. Brief descriptions of these styles and
representative quotes are below.
1.1 No initial patient treatment preference
Most patients either had no initial preference for a treatment or did not vocalize them to their
physician. In these cases, early within the clinical visit the physician presented multiple surgical
treatment options for breast cancer. Most physicians introduced CPM as a ... Show more content on

1.3. Physician recommends CPM
Finally, only one physician gave a recommendation for CPM. The physician s recommendation
again is driven strongly by medical factors; in this case the patient had Hodgkins Lymphoma treated
with radiation.
Clinician: And so in my experience, patients that I treat in this circumstance, we treat with both side
mastectomy.
Patient: Do you?
Clinician: We do. We do. It s up to you, it s your choice, but the majority of people do consider
doing both because it is at that risk. (205)
Throughout the encounter, both the patient and their family member are hesitant about CPM, but
the physician continues to encourage CPM. Finally, the patient and family member seek an
additional opinion from a radiation oncology to further understand the risk to the contralateral
breast.

Benefits Of Paid Maternity Leave Essay
Benefits of Paid Maternity Leave Two unlikely countries have one unlikely thing in common. The
United States of America and Papua New Guinea are the only two countries worldwide that do not
have paid maternity leave. The United States effort to pass paid maternity leave goes back to the
1920s. In the years since, most other countries have guaranteed a salary for mothers taking time off,
and some even cover father s paternity leaves. Through countries with paid leave, we have learned
the many ways paid leave helps babies, parents, and entire families (Rubin 1). So why has the
United Statesnot yet created a paid leave mandate? In 1993, President Bill Clinton signed into law
the Family and Medical Leave Act. This act mandates a minimum of twelve weeks of unpaid
leave for qualifying reasons, including the birth of a child (White House 4). When I was born,
my mother was given the opportunity, through her work, to apply for disability insurance. The
insurance, paid for by her employer, covered pay for approximately 70% of her salary for six weeks
of leave. There was no pay given for the other six weeks provided for by the Family and Medical
Leave Act. My mother s employer gave her many health benefits and the flexibility she needed
when she had her children. The business community is not opposed to paid leave, as it is recorded
that over fifty percent of working U.S. citizen have paid leave and paid vacation, according to the
Labor Department. The National

The Importance Of Plagiarism In College Students
In short: Don t do it. But in truth, that is not good enough.
I have assigned and graded or had graded by TA s tens of thousands of bits of writing by college
students over the years. A lot of my friends are teachers. My wife is a teacher. I ve seen it all. If
you are a student trying to avoid getting caught plagiarizing, I can help you.
You need to know the following three things. These facts will save you from getting tossed out of
college or having a mark on your high school record.
1) Teachers hate plagiarism more than they hate stepping on puppies and kittens. If there are two
students in a class, and one has plagiarized an assignment and one has crushed some puppies and
kittens, and the teacher only has time to turn one of them it to the administration, they ll turn in the
plagiarizer.
2) There has almost never been a case where a student was proved to have plagiarized something
(by matching the original to the student s paper) where the plagiarism wasn t already blindingly
obvious to the teacher to begin with. In other words, when you plagiarize something, it is always
spotted immediately. If some other student tells you that they got away with it, they are lying to
you (like House says, people always lie) or the teacher chose to not turn them in. Yet.
Given this, you should understand that plagiarism is never a good strategy for improving your
grade. Just don t do it.

Homosexual Lifestyle Is Extremely Harmful
Homosexual lifestyle is extremely harmful
A question many people have is, what harm is it to allow same sex couples the same benefits
married heterosexual couples have? Or what harm is there in allowing gays to fill authoritative
positions in society who act as role models for our children?
The answer is that it is extremely harmful to our children and society as a whole. If our children
have role models who are gay, they will think being gay is something that is acceptable by society.
It has become a trend to call it an alternative lifestyle or one s sexual orientation. Others refer to it
as a gay lifestyle, according to an article by Farjm Majd, The Homosexual Relationship.
Gay activists are trying to take the focus off ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here are a few people we have allowed to fill authoritative positions in our society and act as role
models for our children: Achilles, Alexander the Great, Aristotle, Francis Bacon, Ludwig van
Beethoven, Aaron Copeland, Leonardo da Vinci, Julius Caesar, Michelangelo, John Milton,
Plato, Sappho, Shakespeare, Tchaikovsky, Tolstoy and Voltaire it could be argued that our
society was invented by gay people. Whether Western society is a good thing remains to be seen,
I guess, but it s what we have to work with, and I think the best direction is forward: tolerance,
acceptance, diversity of opinion and of belief, and the courage to accord justice to all people,
regardless of the color of their skin, their religion (or lack thereof) or their sexual preference.
Do we want to turn back the clock and change our constitution in the direction of intolerance and
bigotry? I guess we ll find out.

Domestic police forces within the United States have been getting more and more militarized
since the . In the 1990s, programs were made to help police departments acquire military hardware

drug cartels and gangs. Now, with violent crimerates on the decline, policeare still acquiring this
hardware and weapons, not in response to crimes currently happening, but in fear of crimes that can
happen. It can be seen in the purchases made by the police departments, the hardware the police

Jim Crow Dbq
1.Jim Crow was a set of laws enforcing racial segregation in the southern United States from 1877
to the 1960 s. These barbaric and corrupt laws were set mainly against African Americans, limiting
their human rights such as voting. The Whites firmly believed they were the superior race over
African Americans because they labeled themselves as being more intelligent and civilized. The
Plessy vs. Ferguson (1896) case brought the legal integration of Jim Crow Lawsinto society; soon
institution s severed contact between Whites and Blacks by segregation. The segregation included

Composition II
Composition II in Red, Blue, and Yellow
First impressions of Piet Mondrian s Composition II with Red Blue and Yellow generally identify
the art as shapes with color. However, there is much meaning behind the abstract work of art.
Created in 1930 on a 46x46cm canvas, the oil painting portrays thick, black brushwork separating
different figures of rectangles. It was made on the foundation of Neo Plasticism, an artistic
movement at that time focusing on the most basic, abstract elements of painting. The artist s
intended effect, harmonious tension, is well achieved through the contrast between the colored
rectangles and black lines, and perspective.
An element of the art that helped convey the effect was the contrast between the colored rectangles
and black lines. The artwork portrayed different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Separating these rectangles is black lines, all of different thickness. Mondrian saw this contrasts
between the colored shapes and line as a metaphor for reality. It signifies both the balance and
harmony of dynamic forces in life. These dynamic forces in life work together to create peace,
just as the rectangles and lines work together to create peace in the art. The overall asymmetry
contributes to the other effect: tension. The black lines run off of the canvas, and seem to never
end. Nothing in the painting is alike, all different shapes and colors. Although the painting can
seem so beautiful and perfect at first, it may also bring the stress and lust to make to go and
align the shapes and lines to make it symmetrical. This is a metaphor for the utopia and dystopia
in life. Life can be so calming, yet comes with it, is the tension and anxiety. For example, in
Mondrian s life, he moved to the Netherlands in pursuit of expanding his art. This relatively
hopeful and jubilant decision was shut down when World War I began. It had seemed like World

A Catastrophe of Pandemic Proportions
A Catastrophe of Pandemic Proportions
It is the year 2018. The future that once looked bright is now filled with devastation. Two years
ago a small pox epidemic swept through the United States in the worst act of terrorism we have
ever seen. Due to the belief small pox was gone for good, children were no longer vaccinated. If
only we knew the enemy was manufacturing this virus as a lethal weapon to be unleashed in the
United States. I do not think even the enemy had any idea of the magnitude of death and
destruction such a simple virus could cause. The first wave killed 40% of the eastern coast. As it
swept across our nation, the main toll was children s lives. Many who survived were ... Show more

This is dangerous since a misdiagnosis is highly likely and the patient will be sent home with no
help and no alerts sent to the health department. Unfortunately, the person carrying small pox is
already contagious and spreading the virus through an entire community and beyond.
If something like the previously described event were to happen, the results could be very similar.
The problem lies in the fact that the people do not know what to do in case of a bioterrorist attack.
In the past, things have been kept secret and the public has been unable to get a grasp on what our
role is in such an event. The American society rarely hears about biological threats on our nation
and is not included on training in case such events. This is the very reason why we are in a
vulnerable spot and I fear we the people would be helpless. The other reality is, because our lack
of knowledge, the people could also make the situation worse. All it takes is for a person to
panic and flee. The can spread a virus like wildfire. Due to a long incubation period, a citizen
could in theory affect a large majority of people before systems are shown. Something we do not
normally think about is the possibility of the majority of our police officers and hospital staff being
infected in the initial wave of sickness. These are the people who are most vulnerable due to the
interactions with the community. With

  • 2. The Treatment Of Stem Cell Therapy Stem cell therapy, also known as regenerative medication, has been an increasingly utilized therapy in recent years. The cells added to the body interact with the surrounding body, making the regenerative process available to begin the healing process of the cells at the site (R. (2014)). These therapies are used to heal common sport injuries such as a knee injury, diseases, arthritis, and many other crippling effects that may occur in the human body (R. (2014)). Many of the stem cells that are used from the therapies can come from bone marrow, fat,and blood from the patient or even cells from more controversial areas such human embryos. Stem celltherapy has shown a lot of promising effects, not only outshining the effects of prescription medicine given out to patients from doctors, but it has also shown that the therapy has long term effects than a steroid would have had. Stem cell therapy is important because it has given hope to several people with common illnesses such as arthritis, knee pains, and back pains by regenerating their cells to realize the pain that they are in. Most of the patients who come in for sport related injuries are professional athletes. Most of the time these athletes are the ones who have obtained a knee injury in basketball or football and are resorting the use of a steroid to try to fix the pain, but soon realize that it is not a long lasting effect. This is where stem cell therapy comes into play. Chris Johnson from the New York Jets was one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Representation Of Symbolism In Herman Melville s Moby Dick In Herman Melville s Moby Dick, the white whale has been a representation of many things, including God, nature and specific origins of life that are beyond the control of mankind. The quest to hunt down Moby Dick by the Pequod is seen as symbolic. For Ahab, slaying the sperm whale is the main goal in his life. This can be extended symbolically so that the sperm whale represents everybody s goals. His vengeance towards the sperm whale is similar to man s struggle in contradiction of destiny. The only way out from Ahab s vision is often seen through the Pequod s unusual meetings, called gams, with other ships. Upon finishing this novel, the only representation that Moby Dick itself can be seen as, is a goal. Melville implies that humans in general need to have a goal in life, or stating that such a goal can destroy one if no one ever attains it. Although this novel was revolved around a white whale, it was not the only sea creature that played an important role. The white whale was not the only life lesson represented in Melville s Moby Dick, I argue that the giant squid carries numerous representations, the sharks represent human nature and the brit represent human consciousness. In chapter 59 of the novel, Melville highlights the significance of the form of the giant squid. Dagoo is the character who first spots this white mass that he believes looks like Moby Dick. He and Ahab inaccurately mistake this giant squid for Moby Dickbecause of the white color. Due to this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Today s Modern Army By The 442nd Infantry Regiment During... Understanding and defining the impact on today s modern army by the 442nd Infantry Regiment during WWII, is evident by their unique formation that stood out amongst organizations during that period. While trying to compare the differences in social acceptance from a unit composed almost entirely of Soldiers of Japanese ancestry, you must first understand the period in which this unit left its legacy. During one of the most controversial times in the history of diplomatic relations, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 without any formal announcement of war. Although the transmissions from Japan were decoded, the actual declaration of war didn t reach the United States until the following day. Unknown to many Americans that... The deportation of the Japanese American men who relocated into the camps would eventually make up roughly 14,000 of the men who would go on to serve in the 442nd. Japanese American men originally categorized as enemy aliens went un drafted due to the government automatically disqualifying anyone with Japanese ancestry. Eventually the War Department called for the removal of all Soldiers of Japanese ancestry from active service. At the time, General Emmons, who was serving as the commander of the U.S. Army in Hawaii, discharged any man who fell under this order from the Hawaii Territorial Guard. He did however; keep an estimated 1,300 Japanese American soldiers from the 298th and 299th Infantry Regiments of the Hawaii National Guard. The discharged Japanese American men of the Hawaii Territorial Guard petitioned the Generals decision and asked him to allow them to participate in the war. General Emmons stated, although no formal documentation exists, that he would remain worried about the loyalty of Japanese American no matter their birth place. He recommended to the War Department all Japanese American men serving in Hawaii to be move to the mainland. The authorization, granted by the War Department, allowed General Emmons to move the once called Hawaiian Provisional Battalion, to Camp McCoy. Upon arrival of these ... Moreover, I am also going to discuss the geographical factors and technological changes that have happened over the last 100 years which have made it essential and possible for the Khalifa Bin Salman Port to be constructed and built. In addition, the advantages of the new port compared to the Mina Salman Port will also be discussed and listed in this essay. Moreover, in this essay; the first oil well in Bahrain, dredging that helped build the new port, land reclamation, the sizes of the ships, the King Fahad Causeway, the advantages of the new Khalifa Bin Selman Port will all be discussed and the Oram s First Law of Mechanisation. пЃ¶Timeline: пЃ¶First port in Bahrian: Bahrain has a strategic position because it is positioned in the centre of the gulf. Land reclamation is the idea of creating new lands from seas, oceans, rivers or lakes. Reclamation is mostly done in coastal areas. There are different methods to land reclamation. However, the most common method of land reclamation is when lands are filled with large rocks or cement, or both. Then the area is covered by using dirt until it gets to the level of height that is required. Bahrain spent over 79BD Million to start working on Khalifa Bin Salma Port. The port is positioned on 110 hectares (ha) of reclaimed land (Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, n.d.). • 6. The Torture Of Torture Hitchens Summary In Hitchens s story, the majority of his detail is dedicated to his personal experience. Hitchens was brave enough to actually forbearance the torture of waterboarding. I was very gentle yet firmly grabbed from behind, pulled to my feet, pinioned by my wrist (which were then cuffed to a belt), and cut off from sunlight by having a black hood pulled over my face. (Hitchens, page 617). At this time, the trained men are starting to put Hitchens in the first steps of the torture. Arms already lost to me, I wasn t able to flail as I pushed onto a sloping board and positioned with my head lower than my heart. (Hitchens, page 617). Hitchens has been placed into position to where he cannot move, or try to fight the integrator s, to start the torturing. This is when the water starts getting poured onto his face. The fear of drowning is an understatement when it comes to water boarding, because drowning is actually taking place. He began to hold is breath, for as long as he could, before having to exhale. With exhaling comes inhaling, and when he inhaled, the hood pulled over his face began to suction to his face. The inhalation brought the damp cloths tight against my nostrils, as if a huge, wet paw had been suddenly and annihilatingly clamped over my face. (Hitchens, page 618). Basically, what he is saying is that the suctioning of the hood is making it even harder to attempt to breath. With all of this being said, Hitchens did not last long before using the pre arranged ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Rheumatology Personal Statement One of my earliest memories, is watching a small figure hobble across the stones with disfigured feet and toes. This was my grandmother and as she dragged her body riddled with what I now believe to be rheumatoid arthritis I always wonder how her life might have been changed with proper treatment. Just when I thought Internal Medicine was my field, I was introduced to Rheumatology. It was during my intern year when working in the Rheumatology Clinic. The core of my initial attraction was the very proximity between Rheumatology and IM. Even as the mode of treatment hinged on working with inherent uncertainty and innate complexity, you also needed to turn to IM fundamentals to determine a diagnosis. Moreover, I found myself highly intrigued ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In that osteoporosis is a huge societal problem, causing a large number of fractures in the elderly population and thus leading to a poor quality of life and worse, it was clear that education of healthcare professionals was a must. Since the USPSTF guidelines state that all women over age 65 should get dexa scans to screen for osteoporosis and start on appropriate therapy to prevent these fractures, it soon became clear that in our resident run outpatient clinics we were doing a very poor job in this area. As such, with two colleagues, we designed an intervention protocol based on provider education on osteoporosis for all residents, attendings, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Succinctly, the intervention increased the rate of dexa scan ordering by 34% and this trial is now in its second phase. There have been other equally important turning points to date. In my rotation at Georgetown, I sought to explore the field of rheumatology at a tertiary level and in doing so, gained experience in common autoimmune conditions and some rare ones as well all which served to solidify my interest in the field. One of the most pleasant aspects of my duties at Georgetown was the opportunity to work with children. In taking pediatric rheumatology consults, I realized that as a rheumatologist I may be able to care for patients of all age groups, leading to an interesting and highly diversified ... • 9. The Influence Of Local Primitive Art On A Modern Artist The Influence of Local Primitive Art on a Modern Artist Modern art has been influenced by primitive art from Africa and the Indian Islands but Barbara Hepworth was influenced by the hills and landscape around here. Her work Simple Form, 1937 (fig. 1) is reflective of the landscape and the rock outcropping in the area around where she grew up. This artist did not have to look to a different country for primitive art to inspire her work. The primitive artists also seem to have been inspired by these same outcroppings of rocks in much the same way. Like other modern artists Hepworth was breaking down the form to its essential form.Hepworth expressed that it was the landscape of her childhood that impressed upon her and where she looked to for inspiration. When Hepworth talks about the landscaped that inspired her work from early memories in her autobiography. Hepworth s father would take her on drives in the countryside. It is quite possible these Bridestones are apart of that inspiration. Hepworth rights about these memories and says Above all, there was the sensation of moving physically over the contours of fulnesses and concavities, through hollows and over peaks feeling, touching, seeing, through mind and hand and eye Hepworth s family was very loving and supporting of her and her parents made sacrifices for Hepworth to every advantage she could. Creon s edict was that Eteocles, the brother fighting for the country, would have a traditional burial and will be honoured. On the other hand, Creon forbids that Polyneices has a burial. He wants his body to rot because he was fighting against the country. He proclaims that anyone who buries him will be sentenced to death. • 13. Essay about The Moral Permissibility of Lying The Moral Permissibility of Lying Missing Works Cited The question of what constitutes morality is often asked by philosophers. One might wonder why morality is so important, or why many of us trouble ourselves over determining which actions are moral actions. Mill has given an account of the driving force behind our questionings of morality. He calls this driving force Conscience, and from this mass of feeling which must be broken through in order to do what violates our standard of right, we have derived our concept of morality (Mill 496). Some people may practice moral thought more often than others, and some people may give no thought to morality at all. However, morality is nevertheless a possibility of human nature, and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because silence is not the truth, so by remaining quiet, that person is not telling the truth. A more recognizable form of lying is outright lying, such as when a student claims to be working hard on her philosophy paper when she has in fact been partying at Myrtle Beach for the last two days. Deception is yet another form of lying, because by tricking another person into believing something false, one is withholding the truth from that person. By withholding the truth, the truth is not being told, so the deceiver must be a liar. Regardless of the form in which a lie is being presented, all lies have one thing in common. By giving others false thoughts or perceptions of an event, lies can have a strong influence on our free thinking. Therefore, they are all violations of human reason, something that many people strongly respect. As we will see shortly, the ability to reason is also considered valuable to both Mill and Kant, since it underlies both of their moral theories. Utilitarianism is a consequentialist theory, as explained by the philosopher Mill. Given several choices, a utilitarian would pick the morally correct choice by using the Greatest Happiness Principle (487). By looking at whether the consequences of an action will produce the greater happiness for the greater number of people than another action would, one can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Contrast Communism And Communism Liberalism and Communism, two ends of a spectrum, two ideologies that people have long seen as being diametrically opposed to each other. Though these aforementioned philosophies have some truths in them, they are not completely consistent with facts. Communism is often flagrantly misunderstood in America; it brings up images of the communist programs in Russia, Cuba, and China, of ruthless dictators, forced workmanship, and long ration lines, though these images are propaganda based and misconstructions, as none of those countries were ever communist regimes. What is most often overlooked in communismis the similarities that it shares with liberalism. Both ideologies believe in the uniqueness of the individual, that the private person... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Liberals see it as their goals to bring about an open and tolerant society, one where all citizens are free to pursue and follow their beliefs and ideals with as little interference as possible. On the other hand Communism is an ideology that did not come about until the second half of the 19th century. It is an economic political philosophy founded by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engles(2), the main goal of communism is the destruction of class structure and the ending of capitalism. That is the biggest difference between the two ideologies; they both disagree on the role of the market and how the economy should be based. Liberalism actively encourages the growth of the market and capitalism. Most liberals believe that the economy should not be regulated by the government in any way or form. It is imperative to realize that the reason liberals believe that the economy should be unregulated is because they have a different viewpoint of the worth and levels of equality that each individual is born with. First and foremost, both liberals and communists believe that all humans are equal and should be treated as such. That there is an interconnectedness between all people. Both ideologies stress the fact that the individual self should be satisfied first so that the society, in its sum total, can work successfully. These sentiments are echoed in the words of John Stuart Mill, who writes that When I say only himself, I mean directly, for whatever affects himself, may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To a neutral viewer this may appear like a beneficial idea. During the 1800s and early 1900s, Imperialismwas seen as a benefit to some and others did not see it as this. What is it but another form of barbarism? Don t these populations, these inferior races, have the same rights as you? Aren t they masters of their own houses? (258). Pelletan jeers and condemns Ferry, but Ferry sticks to his racist ideas and continues to put the inferior races under him. Ferry continues to talk about the superiority he thinks Europe has over everyone. He states, Gentlemen, I must speak from a higher and more truthful plane. (258). Ferry is showing that he thinks he is superior to those he is speaking to and sees himself as a superior to others and that he is above the inferiors. He then continues to make it clear that superiors have control over the inferiors, It must be stated openly that, in effect, superior races have rights over inferior races. (258). The physician patient relationship has been extremely important in the healthcare industry. Rather than representing a shared reality between the patient and the physician, illness often represents two different realities. The first is that there is a meaning of one being significantly quantitative different from the other. It is critical to realize that in order for a person to be treated in the right way, there is a need for one to have good communication between the doctor and the patient. The doctor and the patient have two different perspectives regarding illness. They each have their own world and they look at it in their own way. In fact, the different perspectives often ... Seeing that, entitlementprograms and means tested benefits, are presented, in order to bolster this increment of older adults. Accordingly, around 96% of the American workforce is secured by Social Security and it is likewise estimated that 58 million American will receive a total of $816 billion in Social Security benefits (Moody and Sasser, 2015). In fact, today 56 million or 17% of the population is enlisted in Medicare(Leonard, 2015). Therefore, this has presented an open deliberation about the eventual fate of Medicare and Social Security and regardless of whether changing Medicare and Social Security to means tested benefits, instead of entitlementprograms can resolve the policy issues. Discussion At present, entitlement programs, which is, a federal program that guarantees a certain level of benefits to persons or other entities who meet requirements set by law (Entitlement Program, 2015) incorporates programs, for example, Medicare and Social Security. However, because of expanding insecurity of these programs the likelihood of changing Medicare and Social Security to means tested benefits is being considered for a policy ... To have funded tax cuts the government will have to cut spending by eliminating waste and by reforming while preserving needed entitlement programs such as Welfare, Social Security and Medicare though slowing the rate of growth in spending on them. As quoted in a Business Week editorial quot;Cutting the growth in Medicare spending by $150 billion would help open the way for a truly balanced budget, lower interest rates and higher economic growth quot; (A Vote for a Sensible Center 194). What made this even more difficult was that he had not given much attention to Vietnam or to foreign affairs in general (Moise 30). For a nation like the United States in need of a decision on the fly, this was very troubling. Earlier President Johnson felt that Harry Truman, in 1950, had erred by going into the Korean War without getting firm commitment of support from the congress (Moise 226). In other words it appeared to be that Johnson would be careful about getting involved in a conflict like Vietnam. Being careful to say the least was not the case at all. There was not much serious thought in escalating the Vietnam War until the Tonkin Gulf incident occurred. In the Gulf of Tonkin it was reported that two American destroyers had been attacked by North Vietnamese PT boats on August 4, 1964, (Friedman 293). Shortly after these incidents, Johnson immediately escalated the war by ordering airstrikes on North Vietnam (Friedman 293). These events made it so Johnson could raise United States involvement in Vietnam without congressional backing on his decisions. Increasing involvement in the war was appealing though because after the Tonkin Gulf incident support of military involvement in North Vietnam raised from thirty one percent approvals to fifty percent approval (Moise 226). Gregor s family found his attempts to talk annoying and irritating. An inability to communicate easily is a huge blow for someone trying to retain some humanity. One great difference between the two men is that Merrick was able to communicate if he had something to write on, whereas Gregor was not able to communicate well at all. Merrick wrote letters to people who he had met and notes to the doctors and staff at the hospital where he spent most of his adult life (Treves 1). Gregor tried to communicate by pushing things around, like his food, and separating the stuff he wanted from what he didn t, so his sister would know what to bring him. His sister seemed to understand this system of communications as she adjusted his food accordingly, this made it more difficult for him when she stopped picking up on his hints and did the minimum possible to keep him alive. He also pushed things around his room and hid when people were coming in; this showed that he understood that they didn t want to see him. From 1960 onwards, when Harold Macmillan made his change of winds speech, the world started to place external pressures on South Africa, and this was one of the main causes of the end of apartheid. Economic sanctions and sporting isolation were the two main subdivisions of external pressure. Sporting isolation made South Africa realise that the minority rule and the apartheid regime was greatly frowned upon by the rest of the world, and caused many Afrikaners to change their attitude to the way the country was being run; this was because they didn t want to be excluded from the rest of the world s competitions and tournaments solely for their governments issues; it made the Afrikaners feel guilty for the regime ruling South Africa. Not only does this effect society as a whole, but more importantly this effects the African American community as well. The high percentage of uneducated African American males will result in increased crime rate, shortened life span and overall hard life. However this epidemic can be stopped by looking at the contributing factors of why there is a decrease in African American male success in higher education and how to change it. Under preparedness Students attend school starting at pre school then kindergarten, kindergarten to first grade and leading up to middle school then high school, the classes and teachers are supposed to prepare them for the next level. With the correct preparation and tools, after graduating high school, many students have their mind set on attending college as the next level. However many African American male students who do have the ability to graduate high school, are not prepared for their next level which is college. Due to the quality of these schools the school districts in urban neighborhoods have fewer academic offerings, less qualified teachers, out of date materials and lower quality curriculum (WOOD, J. • 40. Analysis Of The Hero s Journey Small or big, everything we do in life is part of our journey. Reg Harris The Hero s Journey describes the voyage one takes throughout life to grow and change as a person. He breaks the journey down into eight steps leading to the return. It starts out as a goal that isn t always easy to reach, one goes through hardship and personal doubts only to succeed and become a better person. An example of this journey can be found in the movie, Troy through the character Achilles. Achilles is a strong fearless warrior in the movie, Troy who goes through The Hero s Journey and ends up with a change of heart. As the movie begins we are introduced to Achilles as a fierce and strong warrior, fearing no one. He begins the first step of Harris journey, also known as the call, when Odysseus goes to talk to him. Odysseus visits Achilles to ask him to fight in the war in Troy. He describes the war as great and in need of their best warrior, the perfect invitation into his journey. The second step in Harris journey is the threshold, where we encounter obstacles and doubts. One of the main examples of threshold in Achilles life would be his mother. When Achilles brings up that he has been invited to war his mother gives him two options. Those options are to stay where he is a live a normal long life with a wife children and happiness where not many would remember his legacy, or to go to war and possibly die fighting but be remembered for years to come. Richard Wilbur uses graphic description to clearly express this in his work The Pardon, through a series of events that ultimately bring a man to learn to mourn, after causing him a lifetime without love. As a young boy, the speaker is traumatized by the death of his dog, and is thus lead to pursue a life that lacks both love and the recognition of death. As an older man, the speaker comes to terms with his losses as he sees the dog in his sleep. The speaker openly tells us that he had been afraid. This fear that is instilled in him was the seed for his inability to find love not only in life, but in death as well. Because he knew nothing of death thus far in his life, he was so hurt by the loss of the dog that he stopped loving it. The narrator was unable to find it within himself to forgive anybody for taking his companion away from him, and at the same time, he went on to push away all affection and care in his life; And I could not forgive the sad or strange in beast or man (lines 11 12). In doing this, he was able to avoid dealing with the cruelty of death another time. There was no room inside of him to forgive for all of the pain that he had to carry. From the point that his father took the spade and buried [the dog] (lines 12 13), the narrator began to live his life stoically and plainly, never stopping for love or to enjoy his years. The United States of America and Papua New Guinea are the only two countries worldwide that do not have paid maternity leave. The United States effort to pass paid maternity leave goes back to the 1920s. In the years since, most other countries have guaranteed a salary for mothers taking time off, and some even cover father s paternity leaves. Through countries with paid leave, we have learned the many ways paid leave helps babies, parents, and entire families (Rubin 1). So why has the United Statesnot yet created a paid leave mandate? This act mandates a minimum of twelve weeks of unpaid leave for qualifying reasons, including the birth of a child (White House 4). I have assigned and graded or had graded by TA s tens of thousands of bits of writing by college students over the years. A lot of my friends are teachers. My wife is a teacher. I ve seen it all. If you are a student trying to avoid getting caught plagiarizing, I can help you. You need to know the following three things. These facts will save you from getting tossed out of college or having a mark on your high school record. 1) Teachers hate plagiarism more than they hate stepping on puppies and kittens. If there are two students in a class, and one has plagiarized an assignment and one has crushed some puppies and kittens, and the teacher only has time to turn one of them it to the administration, they ll turn in the plagiarizer. 2) There has almost never been a case where a student was proved to have plagiarized something (by matching the original to the student s paper) where the plagiarism wasn t already blindingly obvious to the teacher to begin with. In other words, when you plagiarize something, it is always spotted immediately. If some other student tells you that they got away with it, they are lying to you (like House says, people always lie) or the teacher chose to not turn them in. Yet. Given this, you should understand that plagiarism is never a good strategy for improving your grade. However, there is much meaning behind the abstract work of art. Created in 1930 on a 46x46cm canvas, the oil painting portrays thick, black brushwork separating different figures of rectangles. It was made on the foundation of Neo Plasticism, an artistic movement at that time focusing on the most basic, abstract elements of painting.
