Salieri trying to interfere with Mozart s opera, The Marriage of Figaro displays his second step of

Artists often use their personal perceptions as a stimulus for their artwork. They are able to use their
work to express a certain viewpoint they may have on a subject. Well renowned artists, Odilon Redon
and David Hockney have both manipulated their artistic abilities to express their perceptions through
their work with their art movements. Redon is a renowned 18th 19th century French symbolist artist
whose works revolve around his dreams, fantasy and imagination, The Cyclops (1914), being one of
his most recognised paintings. David Hockney is a painter and photographer and is considered one of
the most influential British artists of the 20th century, a prime example of his work being, A Bigger
Splash (1966.) Both artworks reflect the artist s personal perceptions and contain similarities and
differences with their movements, intentions and use of stylistic features.
At the beginning of his career, Redon s works were exclusively in black and white in lithographic
prints and charcoal. His works consisted of a monochromatic colour scheme representing symbolism
in his unusual dreamlike creations, called noirs. In an interview, Redon stated that his noirs are his
most personal expressions. These works were a product of his creative imagination of depictions of
his knowledge and perception on evolution theories, presented by Charles Darwin at the time. The
noirs were also a reflection on his pessimism and melancholy, particularly as a child, and a
representation of how he views the world. Contradictory to his early works, Redon transfigured into

It has been reported that 1000 kg tea leaf (dry weight) remove 40 50 kg Nitrogen (N), 4 8,5 kg
Phosphorus (P) and 16 19 kg Potassium (K). Bonheur and Wilson (1992) reported that without
fertilizer application the supply of nutrients available in the soil would become exhausted leading to
mineral deficiencies in the plants, severe reduction in yield and ultimately, the death of the plants.
Bonheur and Wilson (1992) also found that Nitrogen is very important for plant growth and is present

compensated by their external application. Besides, response of other nutrients viz., Sulphur,
Magnesium, and Zinc etc is being noticed in high productive gardens. Rojoa et al. (1979) revealed that
the highest yields in Mauritius were given in tea by application of 375 kg nitrogen per hectare per
annum. Rikhter and Lyashko (1979) found in Russia that yields of tea were higher with 300 kg N ha 1

Igbo Language In Things Fall Apart By Chinua Achebe
In Things Fall Apart, Chinua Achebe adopts a calmatious tone and utilizes diction, figurative
language, and symbolism to capture the corruption of the Igbos culture with the arrival of the white
colonists. Achebe used intense diction throughout the text to make the readers feel the tragedy and
immersion into Igbo culture. He laces his sentences with words like haggard, (Achebe 4) malevolent,
(Achebe 13) and esoteric, (Achebe 88) all of which were used to describe personalities or actions of
clans men. His use of such words emphasizes the tragic and dismayed tone he utilizes and entices the
reader to empathize with the characters. Alternatively, Achebe utilizes a plethora of Igbo words such
as ndichie, (Achebe 12) which is the Igbo word for elders, or Kotma, (Achebe 174) which was a made
up word for the fair skinned court messenger, that was a corrupted translation to mean ashy buttocks.
The use of african words in Things Fall Apart helped emphasize the importance of their culture,
especially upon its corruption. The Igbo language also created a sense of dramatic irony because the
intentions of the translations from white men where altered and neither group, the Igbo or the locusts,
truly understood what the other meant. In addition to diction, using symbolism, Achebe illustrated the
Igbo values by emphasizing the importance of kola nuts, yams, and the gods to the reader. In the

novel about a 16 year old named Holden Caulfield. Holden is your not so average teenager. He is
more of a woe is me kind of teenager. Holden has two siblings and one dead sibling He goes to
expensive private schools, but flunks out of them because he doesn t apply himself. The main part in
this book is when Holden takes a three day vacation in New York City to get away from Pencey Prep
and to let his parents cool off after they get their letter about Holden flunking out of Pencey. The

Holden gets drunk multiple times in the book and he smokes quit a bit. Keep in mind, Holden is 16
years old and the drinking age limit is 18 back in this time. He gets away with drinking illegally. His
smoking is legal, but is not a good influence on sophomores in high school. This book makes it seem
like it is okay to do illegal things and to smoke. Smoking is unhealthy and no one should do it.
Drinking illegally isn t okay and could lead to bad things. This is also making it seem like it s easy to
get away with undeage drinking.
The last controversial thing is Holden is constantly lying and using bad language. He says the f word,
goddam, hell, etc. so many times. He lies about who he is, his name, where he s from, etc. He is
making it okay to lie and cuss. Even if everyone does it, he does it so much it s not very good
influencing on high school students. He talks like a sailor which could lead people that look up to
Holden, to start to cuss as well, just because Holden does. More than likely, people are going to listen

In The Allegory of the Cave , the focus is based on prisoners who are chained up in a cave and can
only see the shadows of the real world. In this story one prisoner is released into the real world and
tries to enlighten the other prisoners. In The Matrix, the main character Neo is living in a world
controlled by a computer program and he does not know. He is brought into the real world by people
that have been enlightened and he plans to help the other people. Even though The Matrix and The
Allegory of the Cave are set in different points in time and show some different points of view , they
also have comparable plots, characters, and symbols. First of all, the plots of the story are very similar.

Some comparisons between these stories were made but there are also many contrasts. In The
Allegory of the Cave , the people that stand on the walkway do not try to help the prisoners that are
chained at the bottom of the cave. On the other hand, in The Matrix the people that were on the
outside looking into the matrix tried to help Neo and did succeed in helping Neo find the real world.
The people of Morpheus s crew reached out to Neo while in the other story there was no attempt made
to reach out to the prisoners. In conclusion, there are many parts of these two stories that are very
