Advantages And Disadvantages Of Soil Consolidation
Consolidation is any process which involves decrease in water content of a saturated soil without
replacement of water by air. Reduction in volume takes place by expulsion of water under long term
static loads. It occurs when stress is applied to a soil that causes the soil particles to pack together
more tightly, therefore reducing its bulk volume. When this occurs in a soil that is saturated with
water, water will be squeezed out of the soil. [wiki]
There are 3 stages in consolidation,
1. Initial consolidation
2. Primary consolidation
3. Secondary consolidation
These stages based on soil settlement caused by 3 load categories Elastic settlement : caused by elastic

Difficulty of maintaining a leak proof system
II. An effective level of vacuum cannot be maintain easily
III. Lateral seepages are reduced towards the vacuum area
IV. Keeping the drainage system effective under the membrane that expels water and air becomes
difficult throughout the whole pumping duration
2. Vertical Drains
To reduce the time for consolidation, vertical drains are used together with preloading either by
conventional preloading or by vacuum preloading. Vertical drains are artificially created drainage
paths which are inserted into the soft clay subsoil. Thus, the pore water squeezed out during
consolidation of the clay due to the hydraulic gradients created by the preloading, can flow faster in
the horizontal direction towards the vertical drains. In the following table it shows different types of
vertical drains along with their installation methods.

Elizabeth Jennings Diversity
The present doctoral research project intends to analyze and study diversity in unity in the poetry of
Elizabeth Jennings who is the only woman poet of the 1950s The Movement. Unity is in a sense that
the poets of the 1950s have been classified under the common grouping The Movement. Unity implies
the traits, themes, sensibilities, techniques these nine Movement poets have in common. Here diversity
is in a sense that Jennings is the sole female poetess with her conviction in the dignity of being human
one driven by her Roman Catholic outlook among the unity of male Movement poets. Jennings being
a woman poet differs from her male counterparts in terms of theme, language, sensibility, conventions,
faith, outlook, Confessionalism, Romanticism, and Mysticism and with the similar and diverse themes
of Movement poetry.
The Movement as a whole is unified in a sense with its common traits, themes, techniques among the
group members. Common traits and similarities with the poets of the Movement group make Jennings
a part of the Movement grouping and the uncommon features makes her diverse from the group.
The path Jennings poetry took was acutely influenced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though she denies being a confessional poet there are some autobiographical elements in her poetry
which find resemblance to her personal life and there is a revaluing of new confessional poetry as an
important progression in 20th century poetry. Therefore her poetry can be evaluated from feminist and
confessional point of view also. Jennings poetry can be evaluated from diverse angles like the
Movement Poetry, Catholicism, Feminism, Romanticism and redefining poetry of new
Confessionalism. Finally the project aims to bring into the fore what undercurrent of life she s been
successful in divulging and what not and exploring in depth her lesser known works and identifying

Philosophical Principals Exemplified in The Truman Show...
In order to understand the moral fabric of the world, it is important to question any information that is
given to an individual, instead of blindly accepting the majority opinion and giving it full credibility
and validity based on other people s opinions. Plato s work, The Republic introduces the allegory of
the cave, which is metaphorical scenario that attempts to explain the importance of questioning norms
that may seem trivial. Plato illustrates a cave where bounded prisoners have lived all their lives in
seclusion, away from the outside world. In their immobile state, they can only look at the wall in front
of them which is illuminated by a small fire that has been going on behind them. The wall constantly
projects shadows of people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an interview, the antagonist claims that, We accept the reality with which we are presented. It is as
simple as that. The quote reflects many philosophical principles that are exemplified in both The
Truman Show and in the Allegory of the Cave.
To start off, the quote addresses the underlying ignorance that is evident in both Plato s and Weir s
works. Truman was living his entire life inside a metaphorical bubble. In many instances throughout
the movie, he ignored any suspicious act that threatened to obscure and interfere with his concept of
reality. For example, as Truman was walking out of his house, he noticed a studio light that suddenly
fell from the sky just as he was about to get in his car. Even though he questioned it at first, Truman
did not really bother investigating or looking into it, perhaps because he was subconsciously afraid of
what he would find. He chooses not to give the random incident any importance and gets in his car,
which further proves his underlying ignorance and reluctance to accept things that may not conform to
the norm. Shortly after, the producers of the show decide to make an excuse for the set malfunction,
and it is soon forgotten. Additionally, when Sylvia tells him upfront that his entire life is a lie, he
chooses to ignore it, until he himself starts to question his life. In the same way, in Plato s allegory of

ABSTRACT
The GTRE GTX 35VS Kaveri is an afterburning gas turbine engine that was developed by the Gas
Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) division of the Defence Research and Development
Organisation (DRDO). In 1989, the DRDO started developing the GTX 35VS Kaveri engine as an
indigenous power plantto replace the General Electric F404 engines that were initially set to power the
Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), the Tejas, designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA)
and manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The Kaveri Engine has a higher thrust,
both dry and wet thrust, than the SNECMA M88. However, due to the Kaveri engine not being able to
satisfy the performance requirements for the LCA, and several delays and cost overruns, the GTX
35VS was decoupled from theTejas programme in late 2008.
A case study of the GTRE GTX 35VS Kaveri engine is being done to look at the engine that was
developed over the 25 year programme, and the shortfalls of the engine design are being analysed
using information, and documents that have been declassified. The Kaveri project has now been
disbanded, and has been used as the foundation point for the successors being called the K9+ and the
K10, being developed for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), and the final version

Analysis Of The Chicago Tribune And William Randolph...
This pair seized upon the headlines generated from a case involving a woman named Mona Marshall,
who alleged that she had been drugged, raped, and forced into prostitution by a pimp. There were
elements of her story that were genuinely factual and terribly disturbing, but other parts seemed far
fetched. That included a tale in which the police reportedly received a note that she dropped from the
window of the brothel where she worked stating, I am a white slave. In addition, Marshall s
recounting of events included several contradictions with dates and key details. Nonetheless, The
Chicago Tribune and William Randolph Hearst s Chicago American ran wild with the Mona Marshall
story and it quickly gained a national audience. Clifford Roe gained recognition nationwide as the
prosecutor of that case and he leveraged his newfound fame into more of an activist role. He
subsequently published Panders and Their White Slaves and The Girl Who Disappeared, which was
later fact checked by a notable sociologist Walter Reckless. He found that Roe used heavily altered
statements from prostitutes to advance his agenda. In addition, Reckless studied Chicago s white slave
court cases extensively and found that less than 5% of them actually involved women held against
their will. In fairness, although Roe s methods were deceptive, one positive result manifested from his
work as he successfully lobbied to get much needed sex trafficking laws passed in Illinois. Over a
short period of

A New Angle On Car Safety
According to Chris Urmson, 1.2 million people are killed on the world s roads every year. In America
alone, 33,000 people are killed each year (Urmson). Urmson is the Director of Self Driving Cars at
Google, and in March of 2015 he presented a TED Talk in which he addressed issues of car safety. In
his presentation, Urmson goes on to explain that for over a century, America has come up with ways
to mitigate car safety issues. Manufacturers have specifically addressed the fact that car drivers often
err, and in so doing, create unsafe conditions for themselves and others on the roads. To address this,
vehicles have been revamped to be more structurally sound, and collision safety features have been
added, such as air bags and seatbelts. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Urmson). Driverless cars also have other sensors, including four radars, a GPS, an inertial
measurement unit, and a wheel encoder. The radars detect obstacles. The GPS, inertial measurement
unit, and the wheel encoder determine where autonomous vehicles are currently and track where they
go (Guizzo). Incorporating Vehicle to vehicle (V2V) communication in self driving cars would
provide additional safety. V2V is the technology that allows cars to exchange information such as
speed, direction, location and other data with one another. This technology is also useful for vehicles
with drivers because it allows them to receive a warning of unexpected events and enables them to
react quickly, thus improving safety. For instance, if a driver ahead quickly presses the brakes, nearby
cars will get a warning that allows them to react promptly. If a car is speeding in a curve, the driver in
the car will get a warning that indicates that they re going too fast and need to slow down. Vehicle to
vehicle communication also allows roads to talk to cars about traffic jams, road work, and road
conditions. If there s black ice ahead, the driver will get a warning indicating the hazard. According to
the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there could be 600,000 fewer crashes involving

This study investigates the effects of high hydrostatic pressure processing (HPP) treatments (200 600
MPa) of eight different lamb cuts on lipid oxidation, fatty acid and free amino acid content. In general,
the eye of loin, flat, heel and tenderloin cuts treated between 400 and 600MPa had higher oxidation
values exceeding 0.5 mg MDA/kg. Saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids content were lower in
HPP treatment of almost all cuts (except rump and heel cuts) at all pressures. Polyunsaturated fatty
acids content was lower in HPP treated inside, knuckle, and tenderloin cuts at 600 MPa compared to
control. Nine essential and 8 non essential amino acids were identified in the lamb cuts. HPP increased
the total free amino acids composition significantly (P

Love Is Incompatible With Religion Essay
February the 14th was once celebrated as a pagan fertility festival (Galician Merskin 2007, p. 318)
rather than the commercialisation of love in the form of exorbitant chocolates and flowers that
contribute to a billion dollar industry. In light of this prevalence, few would have discovered the
historical association like Galician and Merskin. Yet for such scholars, it is hard to escape this notion
regarding Valentine s Day, especially when it has come to adorn a seemingly warped definition that
leads one to wonder if romantic love is indeed a modern day concept. Hence, this paper attempt to
delineate the historical origins of romantic love in religion, which it opines useful in supporting the
stance that romantic love is incompatible with religion. Specifically, it will draw on the monotheistic
faith of Christianity as well as polytheistic religions of Buddhism and Hinduism. More focus would be
dedicated to exploring Christianity based on the premise that this realm is the belief and thus the forte
of the author. In addition, it will endeavour to establish that religion and romantic love are two
mutually exclusive entities, underscoring that denominations within Christianity have tried to coexist
with romantic love by setting up new branches out of the formal authority of the religion. Finally, it
will conclude that despite the retractions provided, religion is incompatible with romantic love.
The contemporary concept of romantic love rests on the premise that romantic

Speech On Eagle Scout
There is one thing that President Gerald R. Ford; the first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong;
filmmaker Steven Spielberg and I all have in common. We are all Eagle Scouts. Since 1911, there
have been more than one million Boy Scouts that have earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest
rank advancement in Scouting. However, only about two and a half percent of ALL Boy Scouts have
achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. It is a very long path, but one that is well worth the journey. This is
the one thing that will have brought me both the greatest happiness and success throughout my life.

Now I believe that this is an extremely important motto due to the fact that you can use this in every
aspect of your life as I stated above. If your mind and body are prepared for any obstacle that is
thrown your way there is nothing that can stop you. This hits me strongly because I believe that when
you set your mind to a goal in order to better yourself you need to set them out of reach so you
continue to grow stronger as an individual. Now onto one particular point of the Scout Law. A Scout is
Helpful. I believe this is the absolute most important point from the Scout Law. This is because from
the very first breath you take as an infant, you will look out for yourself with a self centered point of
view. For it is human nature to preserve oneself. But a Scout has the challenge of putting others first
despite his own needs. This is a great representation of the honor that is involved with being a Scout.
In order to be helpful, a Scout must be ready, able and willing to help as described in the Scout
Handbook. This means that a Scout needs to have the knowledge, skills and abilities in order to help
someone which goes back to the previous described Scout Motto Be

Family And Heroin Analysis
When it comes to this topic I am not that knowledgeable on heroin. My family and I haven t went
through something significant like using heroin or any kind of drugs like that. What I do know this
reminds me of when last semester we had a panel on Heroin at our University in the MPR room.
When I was there I listen and heard how can destroy a family. A cop had a son who was using heroin,
and he tried to help him as best as he can. The son later on in the story went to rehab to get clean, and
he was successful in doing that. The son was also at the panel with is father the cop as a surprise
ending. So from what I know is Edinboro, and Erie are taking steps to address heroin going out
making it known. Telling people heroin is back with a force.

How can Cherie Cosmetics improve the operations and marketing of the Elegante division?
How can the communications between the operations department and Elegante division be improved
for better coordination?
II. Areas of Consideration
Cherie Cosmetics is a wholly owned subsidiary of the International Cherie Company of New York.
The company is directed by Ralph Nolk and has four distinctive product lines each headed by a
general manager. Heather King is the general manager of the Elegante Division in Toronto, Canada.
Bob Shaw is the Vice President of Operations. Dennis Green, the purchasing manager of operations, is
Heather King s main contact.

Heather King doesn t have any resources that the operations department needs, thus she doesn t have
any power to direct their actions.
Heather King is making demands to Dennis Green and Sandra Mirano, but she is not their superior
and they are not in the same department. Dennis Green and Sandra Mirano s manager is Bob Shaw.
An employee should only have one manager. Dennis Green s behavior of verbally attacking Heather
King is inappropriate and unprofessional given that Heather King has a higher rank, but his behavior
is understandable. He may have just been acting out of frustration from having to deal with different
managers. As the purchasing manager, he does have a need to feel in control of his responsibilities.
Heather King had reasons to bypass Dennis Green, but by doing so, she became a threat to his
territory. When people feel threatened, they can become hostile and angry.
III. Alternatives and Evaluation of Alternatives
Alternative 1:
Heather King can bring up the issue to Ralph Nolk. As the Managing Director superior to Bob Shaw,
Ralph Nolk has the formal power to influence the operations department to coordinate with Heather
King. Ralph Nolk has the resources that the operations department needs, thus he has power over their
actions.

company most common chain of products are bagels, coffee, donuts and a variety of both iced and hot
beverages. The primary competitor for this company is Starbucks followed by the Honey Dew Donuts
Company (Rangaswamy, 2007). This essay is going to discuss into detail the effects of globalization
and technology on Dunkin Donuts, determine how the company could earn above average returns
using industrial organization and resource based models, the impact of mission and vision statements
and lastly, how all types of stakeholders affect the company s performance.
First off, globalization has increased the global presence of the company. The company has been

There was a new source of fortune found in the Congo during the 1890s, rubber! An international
rubber race was kicked off by the creation of the inflatable bicycle tire and kept going by the rise of
the automobile using rubber in gaskets and industrial belts, as well as in shielding for telegraph and
telephone wires. People raced to sow rubber trees throughout the tropics! However, the plants could
take years to reach maturity, and during the meantime, there was money in the rubber trees that were
already found in the wild. A great source of wild rubber was found in the Landolphia vines located in
the Central African rainforest. No nation had more of that land than King Leopold. His private army
(19,000 men) known as the Force Publique, would march into village and hold the women as hostage
This would force all the men to go into the rainforest and gather quota of wild rubber per month. As
the price of rubber got higher, the quotas increased. As vines near their village were drained, men
would desperately walk days or weeks into the forest to find new vines to tap in

Pharmaceutical Companies And The Pharmaceutical Industry
These pharmaceutical companies can increase their prices dramatically without the fear of losing
profits because there is a lack of competition in their field. Since there is no other companies in the
field to compete prices with, companies like Turing Pharmaceuticals can dramatically increase their
price to increase their revenue. Even prior to Turing Pharmaceutical s price increase, there was no
competitors and large profits were being made. What is odd about this situation is that despite the
large amount of profits being earned there are no new competitors entering the field. With other
industries, when is an observed large amounts of profits being earned, there can be seen a large
amount of new competitors entering the market. However, this is not the case for the pharmaceutical
industry. According to Donna Sym, there are no new entrants in the pharmaceutical industry, only
mergers within the industry (443). There are no new pharmaceutical companies entering the field.
Instead the current pharmaceutical companies are buying the ownership of the different drugs from
each other. When there is new ownership of a particular drug, most likely there would be a price
increase that follows along. As observed with Daraprim, when Turing Pharmaceuticals gained
ownership of Daraprim, there was an observed price increase of more than 5,000 percent. As of right
now, in the market for Daraprim, there has been a company named Imprimis Pharmaceuticals that has

Comparison Between Roman And Modern Era
From calculating digital computations to setting the foundation of modern applications, the number
system is more relevant in life and culture than most people realize. For example, people use the
number system to organize sections and chapters from literature, keep financial affairs orderly and
neatly, and compute numerous types of everyday costs. Also, it dictates how modern applications
function and how programming languages work seamlessly. Despite these incredible
accomplishments, the world would lack all knowledge of it were it not for ancient number systems.
These systems include three of the most famous ones in the world: Roman numerals, Mayan numerals,
and Egyptian numerals. Through innovation, technology, and ingenuity, ancient ... Show more content

For example: IV = 4, IX = 9, XXXIV = 34, CIX = 109, CD = 400, and MCMIV = 1904. The key to
handling this exception is to subtract the digit ahead of the power from the numeral itself [4].
Now that the basic numbers and rules have been covered, the arithmetic for addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division can be understood. To calculate addition, one must first rewrite the
numbers to arrange them in descending order after putting them together. Next, one must learn to
ignore the subtractive system and write out individual numbers when appropriate. For example: 4 =
IIII, 9 = VIIII, 34 = XXXIIII; but 3 still equals III, 6 still equals VI, and 37 still equals XXXVII.
Third, evaluating in ascending order, one must rewrite trailing I digits into a simplified version.
Finally, any further required simplification is performed. To demonstrate this, consider two numbers in
addition, 13 + 66. The numbers are written side by side (XIII + LXVI), then put together in
descending order (LXXVIIII). The four trailing I digits are rewritten as IV, and this number is
rewritten as LXXVIV. The last three digits, the VIV, is equivalent to IX (9), so the number is rewritten
one final time as LXXIX (79).
For subtraction, one must borrow numbers by marking out common symbols in the second number.
For example, LXVIII XII (68 12) =

The purpose of these series of experiment was successful as seen from the results. The recombinant
form of the green fluorescent protein was successfully expressed and purified from E. coli. Though a
high yield and purity were not obtained, the qualitative monitoring of the rGFP activity was consistent
with the quantitative values obtained. Qualitatively, the elution fraction E2 fluoresced the most when
placed under a hand held UV lamp. Quantitatively, E2 also had the highest activity with 41900 RFUs
when read by a fluorescent microplate reader. One way to increase the yield of rGFP would be to
increase the IPTG induction time. This would increase the amount of rGFP that is expressed and
consequently increase the amount of rGFP that is purified. There were other things during the

The Future Effect Of The Election Of Prime Minister Justin...
This political study will define the future effect of the election of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in
terms of the Canadian foreign policy in the restructuring of military intervention in foreign affairs and
the pro trade globalization mandates of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP). Trudeau s election defines
the overriding political agenda of the Liberal Party of Canada to stop ineffective bombing missions in
Syria and Iraq, yet to maintain special forces troops to better manage the war against ISIS. More so,
Trudeau supports the globalization of Canadian trade by promoting the positive effects of the TPP to
promote international growth in trade. These aspects of the new Liberal government are vital aspects
of as greater focus on improved economic security and a declining approach to pro American bombing
campaigns as a form of military interventionism in foreign affairs. In essence, a political analysis of
the future effects of the Liberal Party of Canada under PM Trudeau will define the restructuring of
military intervention in Iraq and Syria and the increased focus on international trade under the
guidelines of the TPP in foreign policy. The election of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of the Liberal

Evaluate The Working Memory Model
The working memory model has been used to explore a range of human behaviour. With reference to
just one aspect of functioning, critically evaluate how successful the working memory model is at
providing an explanation.
Working memory our immediate memory in which information is temporarily stored while waiting to
be processed, it is a multiparty system that holds and manipulates information as we preform cognitive
tasks. The working memory is made up of four systems: the central executive, visuospatial sketchpad,

research into the processes of the working memories model the topic is still largely unknown. Working

Research suggests the longer the word the harder it is to remember, shorter words can be repeated
quicker with more ease within the 2 seconds it takes for the articulate trace to decay. This provides
evidence to support the existence of an articulatory rehearsal process in which a trace lasts for a
duration of about two seconds. Much the same articulatory suppression can affect memory ability,
memory from rehearsed material can be impaired when someone is asked to recite information at the
same time as rehearsing material in their phonological loop.
There is an increasing amount of evidence to support the relationship between the phonological loop
and the acquisition of language (Baddeley et al., 1998). In a clinical study of a patient with a
phonological loop deficit, but normal verbal long term memory, Baddeley found a failure to acquire
the vocabulary of a new language. In addition, the phonological loop is proving to be a good predictor

Lum Ch. 11 Review: The purpose of chapter 11 in Lum (2011) is to discuss cultural competence work
with Latino Americans. The growth of the Latino population in the United States has been greatly
increasing. As of 2008, 15.1% of the United States population is Latino. Some concerns that elderly
Latinos may face are: family roles, health, caregiving, end of life issues, protective factors, and
effective interventions (p. 309). Many of the Central American Latino grandparents have not
completed high school, which has left them unemployed. Social workers who serve this group, should
become more aware of the historical discrimination that this population has faced. Reflection: Due to
the fact that the Latino population is still growing, it is important to consider the history of
discrimination that they have faced due to America. Something that I found interesting is the ethical
issues that were listed off. For example, making sure that they understand the informed consent. If it
seems as if they do not understand it do not let them sign and do not assume the participants either.
Most people in our society do not even read the informed consent and it is typically not a problem for
them. It is also important to understand the heterogeneity of the Latino population. Latino in itself is a
diverse population. Where I come from, I see a lot of racism among this group. There are a lot of
people in my hometown who strongly dislike this population. They think that they are loud and

Similarities Between La Belle Dame Sans Merci And Annabel Lee
Love in Poe s Annabel Lee and Keats s La Belle Dame sans Merci
Poe s Annabel Lee and Keats s La Belle Dame sans Merci depict the destructive effects that women
exercise upon men. In both poems, women, by death and deception, harm their adoring lovers. In
Annabel Lee, Annabel dies and leaves the speaker in isolation; in La Belle Dame Sans Merci, the
fairy, La Belle Dame, captures the speaker s heart, and then deserts him. The common theme of both
poems, that love generates harmful effects, is a reflection of both poets upsetting and harmful
childhood experiences.
Poetry, Keats purports, comes from the ferment of an unhappy childhood working through a noble
imagination (Keats 16). The lesson of [Keat s] ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He creates an aroma of sex in pacing steed, which might be an innocent horse ride, but is possibly a
sexual metaphor (the speaker being the steed.) The repetition of wild eyes is a sexual euphemism,
furthering the sexual nature of love expressed within the poem. Even the knight s last memory of the
fairy is of a sexual nature; the knight receives kisses four, afterwards the fairy lulls him to sleep. Keats
s love is relatively more tenuous than Poe s, because the fairy s love is unpredictable, and bizarre ( In
language strange she said / I love thee true ). This love is also destructive, as warned by the dead men
in the last stanza with their horrid warning that La Belle Dame/ Thee hath in thrall! Poe and Keats
employ the their speakers painful experiences with love as examples of love s ruinous consequences.
La Belle Dame sans Merci and Annabel Lee develop their characters with attention to details, so that
the impact of the characters experiences are more intense and vivid.. In Annabel Lee, the speaker calls
Annabel a maiden, starting the poem with virtuous connotations. The reader learns that Annabel is
from high birth through reference to her as a highborn kinsmen, and her grave as a sepulchre. Annabel

Lily Metaphors
In this story, Lily starts her journey by experiencing the first stage of a monomyth, pre separation.
Within the first few pages, Lily has a flashback of the most traumatic memory she has... killing her
mother. The guilt from this memory haunts Lily throughout her life and is the primary reason of her
unhappiness. This is the pre separation stage because Lily is extremely miserable with her life and is
unaware of what is holding her back. She currently lives with her father T Ray, who only adds to her
depression. Although Lily is his daughter, he does not treat her with any kindness or respect. This is
shown through his abusive ideas of disciplining Lily both emotionally and physically. Kneeling on
grits is one of the many cruel ways T Ray

Abortion in the United States
The issue of abortion is notoriously controversial. Since the Supreme Court s 1992 ruling in Casey v.
Planned Parenthood, states have enacted different restrictions on the procedure. These restrictions vary
from state to state. Nineteen states currently have laws prohibiting partial birth abortion, and forty one
states strictly prohibit abortions except in cases of life endangerment. One particularly incendiary area
of abortion law is that of public funding. However, as of this year there are only seventeen states that
cover abortion procedures through public funding. In this paper we will discuss federal abortion
legislation, while describing the laws and political ideologies of the following states: Texas,
California, New ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Georgia s requirements were as follows: firstly, the abortion had to be approved by a hospital abortion
committee. Secondly, the procedure could not begin until it had been approved by two other doctors.
Finally, abortions were only provided to Georgia citizens. The court ruled these restrictions
unconstitutional, as they not only posed an undue burden, but also violated both the woman s right to
privacy and the physicians right to practice. In 1992, Roe v. Wade was upheld in Casey v. Planned
Parenthood. However, the Supreme Court had become significantly more conservative in that time,
and this ruling favored the states rights to establish tighter abortion restrictions. In Pennsylvania,
women were only permitted first trimester abortions if they had been given information about the fetus
s gestational state and the dangers of having the procedure. A married women was also required to
inform her husband prior to having the abortion, and minors had to seek approval from at least one
parent unless given a legal bypass. On top of these restrictions, there was also a mandatory 24 hour
waiting period (McBride, Casey v. Planned Parenthood ). Though it was ruled that states must still
make abortions available in the first trimester, it was decided in a five to four vote that the states
retained the right to place restrictions as long as there were intended to protect the health

Gender Biases In The Music Industry
biases. Now when you take a look at the surface of the music business there seems to be diversity with
gender, but behind the scenes, this bias has changed very little. This behind the scenes industry
consists of music production, mastering, mixing, A R, administration and many other record label jobs
that are given. The gender biases that exist in today s music industry serve a harsh reminder of
influential sexism, most prominent biases are the attitudes towards women because of pre existing
male preference in the business. In today s world, we see gender biases that still exist in today s jobs
and careers. The music business is one of the few businesses that are still dominated by males and this
number isn t showing any prominent growth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows a male preferred network still being used by the industry and very little change has been
made. The article also goes on to state that Statistics on the percentages of females working in sales
for music companies and merchants are unavailable. But in an informal Billboard survey, female
executives acknowledge that they have made some headway during the last few years in terms of
representation in the marketplace. However, they urge the industry to keep pushing forward on the
issue which means that there is still a gender gap that exists due to the preference of males. According
to the employment gap, there is very little promotional growth for females in the business, but this
number is slowly being addressed as the boy network becomes more prominent; the inefficiency of the
system will make its collapse

The Efficient Markets Hypothesis Posits That `` Security...
The efficient markets hypothesis posits that security prices fully reflect all available information
(Fama, 1991). In an efficient market, a stock s price accurately depicts its fundamental value.
However, researchers have shown that real markets are actually inefficient, and are hindered by risky
arbitrage and irrational investors. Because of market frictions, incomplete information, and systematic
biases, stock prices react to changes in uninformed demand in addition to actual fundamental shifts,
resulting in sustained and pervasive mispricing. This essay aims to challenge the theory of market
efficiency, and in so doing, support the position that stock prices do not always reflect stocks
fundamental values. Riskless arbitrage is one underlying assumption of the efficient markets
hypothesis. It theorizes that any opportunities to profit through mispriced stocks will be immediately
exploited by savvy arbitrageurs and subsequently eliminated, returning market price to equilibrium at
its fundamental value. However, in real markets, arbitrage is risky due to market frictions and
incomplete information (Shleifer Summers, 1990). The market friction of transaction costs such as
commission and the bid ask spread may limit the willingness of investors to participate in arbitrage.
Likewise, incomplete information creates risk for arbitrageurs, particularly when shorting overvalued
stocks. The market may potentially do well and thus justify the overpricing, or the market may

The Standard Of Care Of Counseling
Counselor professional identity encapsulates the idea of nonstop growth and development within a
certified context. To be an effective counselor growth and development is a successive and lifelong
process. Work in secular or Christian setting counselors must pay particular attention to the possibility
of regarding their development in a form of culture transition. Reality therapy is an effective
therapeutic strategy to address many issues, and valuable in treating sensitive problems. As a Christian
counselor there will be obstacles, but God s wisdom and understanding will be our strength and
source.
Christian counseling is distinct from secular counseling in that it specifically incorporates the spiritual
dimension, Biblical truths, and a seeking of God s will in an individual s life the standard of care of
counseling is to be culturally competent in responding to a client s life context. Just as, there is a need
to be delicate to cultural, racial, ethnic, and gender aspects of a client s life, there is a corresponding
need to be responsive to the religious aspects to the client s life when making therapeutic
interventions. Counselors need to be culturally and religiously competent. Client s needs and spiritual
disciplines in clinical practice can help define the parameter of appropriate therapeutic care.
Reality therapy is a particular approach in psychotherapy and counseling. William Glasser a

Five Proofs Of Thomas Aquinas
Aquinas Five Proofs Thomas Aquinas was a philosopher and theologian during the 1200 s who liked
to combine theological principles of faith along with philosophical principles of reason. He based all
decision through the God of Christianity which to Aquinas was a personal God. A lot of Aquinas
philosophy characteristics came from Aristotle s thoughts and ideas. St. Thomas Aquinas had believed
that all knowledge was rational in the way that knowledge is only gained through sensory experience.
By studying the world, the world opens up and shows the essential nature of things. According to
Aquinas, one must always strive for the highest good and to believe in Christ as our salvation
protecting us on Earth and in Heaven. For him, reason is powerless ... Show more content on

Thomas Aquinas proofs, he reveals many truths about the divine God. God is the one to be thanked for
existence of life, orders of creation and being the sole cause and creator of the universe. God existed
before all else in the universe making him the first cause. He shows God to be neither of a finite
lifetime nor being inseparably a part of nature not being defined as transitory. God is not nature but
instead He is a divine source of all good and justice found in every man and woman no matter the
degree. Actually, God is demanded by our universe from our feelings and opinions of justice. Our
creator is the one who imprints our very being with justice. God is able to do so because he posses the
very essence of justice. To Aquinas we form the opinion and know that God is personal. Some may
argue saying that qualities which make humans personal and make their conscience greater, is what
places us above everything else God created such as plants and animals. God is the highest order of all
beings giving him the quintessence of a personal being. St. Thomas s proofs were relied on by the
world of our many experiences and what we can see all around

Chronic Bronchitis Case Study
1. What clinical findings correlate with M.K. s chronic bronchitis? What type of treatment and
recommendations would be appropriate for M.K. s chronic bronchitis? Prior to discussing MK s
clinical findings and its correlations with chronic bronchitis, we must first have an understanding of
what this disease involves. Chronic bronchitis is defined as a chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder
(COPD) and is identified by a hypersecretion of bronchial mucus and chronic or recurrent productive
cough of more than three months and occurring each year for two or more successive years in a
patient (Copstead Banasik, 2013). Furthermore, if you break down the words Chronic Bronchitis the

Putting the words back together, chronic bronchitis is the chronic inflammation and swelling of the
bronchial mucosa, which can lead to scarring and a variety of other clinical manifestations. This is
where we can correlate the clinical findings from MK s case study to the chronic bronchitis. Here we
find clinical manifestations such as chronic coughing with more severe fits in the morning with
sputum, excessive peripheral edema, light headedness, distended neck veins, and increased night
urination. The most predominant symptom in chronic bronchitis is the chronic cough, which can last
over the course of three months successively for at least two years. This is a result of inflammation of
the bronchial mucosa which leads to hypertrophy and causes scarring to occur. The hypertrophy then
cause the over production of mucus which results in the chronic coughing as the body tries to get rid
of the excess mucus. MK states that she has been smoking for the past 22 years which points to her
experiencing smokers cough with more severe fits in the morning. This is explained due to M.K.
laying down overnight that can cause the mucus to build up and can

Haswell introduced new instructions for x86 ISA, divided into four categories. The first one is AVX2
which uses integer SIMD instructions from 128 bits to 256 bits whereas the original version was a 256
bit extension using YMM registers, mostly the floating point instructions. In addition Haswell also had
Intel s Fused Multiply Add (FMA) which includes 36 FP instructions that performs 256 bit
computations and 60 instructions for 128 bit vectors. Haswell also supports 15 scalar bit manipulation
instructions [17] which consists of bit field manipulations such as insert, extract and shift, bit counting
such as zero count [17], an arbitrary precision integer multiply and rotate [17].Haswell also has big

The uops that are to be computed are dispatched to ports 0, 1, 5 and 6 and are executed in the
respective execution units. The execution units in Haswell are arranged in three stacks: SIMD integer,
integer and FP which operate independent from each other. Each stack has different data types,
potentially different registers and result forwarding networks. The data path can connect with a given
stack for accessing the registers and forwarding network. Forwarding between networks may need an
extra cycle to move different stacks. The load and store units access the port numbers 2 4 and 7
accesses the integer by pass network thus reducing the access to the GPR and latency for forwarding.
The new port which is the scalar integer port accesses the general purpose registers and integer by
pass network. This execution unit handles standard arithmetic and logical operations that are
previously handled by port 5 in the previous architectures whereas port 5 now includes an ALU and a
fast LEA unit losing the branch and shift units. Advantage with this added port is that it can handle
many instructions while the SIMD dispatch port is utilized

Mathematics And Science Textbooks Manifesto
Mathematics and Science Textbooks Manifesto
Imagine yourself sitting at a table in the library during the finals week, trying to get the most out of a
bulky textbook within a limited amount of time. It feels like you are struggling to escape from a
burning flame behind your back; you do not want to fail the tests, but you do not have much time
either... The textbook contains a lot of information, but you cannot get all the knowledge you need
from it instantly as you wish. It is like having a full set of swords in your arsenal, but you can only use
an ordinary one to fight with a gigantic monster; that is definitely not an easy task. Reading lengthy
textbooks is absolutely time consuming, and you will have to sacrifice countless hours of ... Show

We should also get rid of confusing or too complicated information. Some textbooks integrate
knowledge from other subjects. This is not a completely bad idea, but these textbooks are not designed
solely for people who take various branches of science; for example, solving a physics problem that is
related to atomic numbers of elements could be confusing for students who have never taken
chemistry before. Since no one would want to waste their precious time reading unrelated contents,
these textbooks need to be re written.
We appreciate simplicity and efficiency. We can no longer bear trying to read those wordy textbooks
within short time. Using a tiny sword, you would not be able to beat the notorious monster. It is the
time for you to develop a more sophisticated weapon. Students usually create their own summary or
cheat sheets. These student made works are actually written in the way in which textbooks should be;
the content is shortened while the quality is still maintained. These new representations of information
are going to wipe the obsolete ones out. The unwelcoming textbooks are not needed any more as the
new forms of knowledge are more concise and more effective which are the qualities that most
textbooks do not have. We believe in everyone s potential and their perpetual effect on this world. It is
the time to use your own ability to create better textbooks for yourself and the community.
We admire the way nature creates human perception. People

  • 2. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Soil Consolidation Consolidation is any process which involves decrease in water content of a saturated soil without replacement of water by air. Reduction in volume takes place by expulsion of water under long term static loads. It occurs when stress is applied to a soil that causes the soil particles to pack together more tightly, therefore reducing its bulk volume. When this occurs in a soil that is saturated with water, water will be squeezed out of the soil. [wiki] There are 3 stages in consolidation, 1. Initial consolidation 2. Primary consolidation 3. Secondary consolidation These stages based on soil settlement caused by 3 load categories Elastic settlement : caused by elastic deformation Primary consolidation settlement : result of a volume change ... Vertical drains are artificially created drainage paths which are inserted into the soft clay subsoil. Thus, the pore water squeezed out during consolidation of the clay due to the hydraulic gradients created by the preloading, can flow faster in the horizontal direction towards the vertical drains. • 3. Elizabeth Jennings Diversity The present doctoral research project intends to analyze and study diversity in unity in the poetry of Elizabeth Jennings who is the only woman poet of the 1950s The Movement. Unity is in a sense that the poets of the 1950s have been classified under the common grouping The Movement. Unity implies the traits, themes, sensibilities, techniques these nine Movement poets have in common. Here diversity is in a sense that Jennings is the sole female poetess with her conviction in the dignity of being human one driven by her Roman Catholic outlook among the unity of male Movement poets. Jennings being a woman poet differs from her male counterparts in terms of theme, language, sensibility, conventions, faith, outlook, Confessionalism, Romanticism, and Mysticism and with the similar and diverse themes of Movement poetry. The Movement as a whole is unified in a sense with its common traits, themes, techniques among the group members. Common traits and similarities with the poets of the Movement group make Jennings a part of the Movement grouping and the uncommon features makes her diverse from the group. The path Jennings poetry took was acutely influenced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore her poetry can be evaluated from feminist and confessional point of view also. Jennings poetry can be evaluated from diverse angles like the Movement Poetry, Catholicism, Feminism, Romanticism and redefining poetry of new Confessionalism. • 4. Philosophical Principals Exemplified in The Truman Show... In order to understand the moral fabric of the world, it is important to question any information that is given to an individual, instead of blindly accepting the majority opinion and giving it full credibility and validity based on other people s opinions. Plato s work, The Republic introduces the allegory of the cave, which is metaphorical scenario that attempts to explain the importance of questioning norms that may seem trivial. Plato illustrates a cave where bounded prisoners have lived all their lives in seclusion, away from the outside world. In their immobile state, they can only look at the wall in front of them which is illuminated by a small fire that has been going on behind them. The wall constantly projects shadows of people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In an interview, the antagonist claims that, We accept the reality with which we are presented. It is as simple as that. The quote reflects many philosophical principles that are exemplified in both The Truman Show and in the Allegory of the Cave. To start off, the quote addresses the underlying ignorance that is evident in both Plato s and Weir s works. Truman was living his entire life inside a metaphorical bubble. In many instances throughout the movie, he ignored any suspicious act that threatened to obscure and interfere with his concept of reality. For example, as Truman was walking out of his house, he noticed a studio light that suddenly fell from the sky just as he was about to get in his car. Even though he questioned it at first, Truman did not really bother investigating or looking into it, perhaps because he was subconsciously afraid of what he would find. He chooses not to give the random incident any importance and gets in his car, which further proves his underlying ignorance and reluctance to accept things that may not conform to the norm. Shortly after, the producers of the show decide to make an excuse for the set malfunction, and it is soon forgotten. Additionally, when Sylvia tells him upfront that his entire life is a lie, he chooses to ignore it, until he himself starts to question his life. In the same way, in Plato s allegory of the ... • 5. Case Study Of Gtre Gtx 35 Vs Kaveri Case Study of GTRE GTX 35 VS Kaveri Geo Oomman1* Aditya Sunil2 1Dept. of Aeronautical engineering, RIET Trivandrum 2 Dept. of Aeronautical engineering, RIET Trivandrum *geo.oomman12@gmail.com ABSTRACT The GTRE GTX 35VS Kaveri is an afterburning gas turbine engine that was developed by the Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) division of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). In 1989, the DRDO started developing the GTX 35VS Kaveri engine as an indigenous power plantto replace the General Electric F404 engines that were initially set to power the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), the Tejas, designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The Kaveri Engine has a higher thrust, both dry and wet thrust, than the SNECMA M88. However, due to the Kaveri engine not being able to satisfy the performance requirements for the LCA, and several delays and cost overruns, the GTX 35VS was decoupled from theTejas programme in late 2008. A case study of the GTRE GTX 35VS Kaveri engine is being done to look at the engine that was developed over the 25 year programme, and the shortfalls of the engine design are being analysed using information, and documents that have been declassified. The Kaveri project has now been disbanded, and has been used as the foundation point for the successors being called the K9+ and the K10, being developed for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), and the final version ... • 6. Analysis Of The Chicago Tribune And William Randolph... This pair seized upon the headlines generated from a case involving a woman named Mona Marshall, who alleged that she had been drugged, raped, and forced into prostitution by a pimp. There were elements of her story that were genuinely factual and terribly disturbing, but other parts seemed far fetched. That included a tale in which the police reportedly received a note that she dropped from the window of the brothel where she worked stating, I am a white slave. In addition, Marshall s recounting of events included several contradictions with dates and key details. Nonetheless, The Chicago Tribune and William Randolph Hearst s Chicago American ran wild with the Mona Marshall story and it quickly gained a national audience. Clifford Roe gained recognition nationwide as the prosecutor of that case and he leveraged his newfound fame into more of an activist role. He subsequently published Panders and Their White Slaves and The Girl Who Disappeared, which was later fact checked by a notable sociologist Walter Reckless. He found that Roe used heavily altered statements from prostitutes to advance his agenda. In addition, Reckless studied Chicago s white slave court cases extensively and found that less than 5% of them actually involved women held against their will. In fairness, although Roe s methods were deceptive, one positive result manifested from his work as he successfully lobbied to get much needed sex trafficking laws passed in Illinois. • 7. A New Angle On Car Safety According to Chris Urmson, 1.2 million people are killed on the world s roads every year. In America alone, 33,000 people are killed each year (Urmson). Urmson is the Director of Self Driving Cars at Google, and in March of 2015 he presented a TED Talk in which he addressed issues of car safety. In his presentation, Urmson goes on to explain that for over a century, America has come up with ways to mitigate car safety issues. Manufacturers have specifically addressed the fact that car drivers often err, and in so doing, create unsafe conditions for themselves and others on the roads. To address this, vehicles have been revamped to be more structurally sound, and collision safety features have been added, such as air bags and seatbelts. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Urmson). Driverless cars also have other sensors, including four radars, a GPS, an inertial measurement unit, and a wheel encoder. The radars detect obstacles. The GPS, inertial measurement unit, and the wheel encoder determine where autonomous vehicles are currently and track where they go (Guizzo). Incorporating Vehicle to vehicle (V2V) communication in self driving cars would provide additional safety. V2V is the technology that allows cars to exchange information such as speed, direction, location and other data with one another. This technology is also useful for vehicles with drivers because it allows them to receive a warning of unexpected events and enables them to react quickly, thus improving safety. For instance, if a driver ahead quickly presses the brakes, nearby cars will get a warning that allows them to react promptly. If a car is speeding in a curve, the driver in the car will get a warning that indicates that they re going too fast and need to slow down. Vehicle to vehicle communication also allows roads to talk to cars about traffic jams, road work, and road conditions. If there s black ice ahead, the driver will get a warning indicating the hazard. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there could be 600,000 fewer crashes involving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In general, the eye of loin, flat, heel and tenderloin cuts treated between 400 and 600MPa had higher oxidation values exceeding 0.5 mg MDA/kg. Saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids content were lower in HPP treatment of almost all cuts (except rump and heel cuts) at all pressures. Polyunsaturated fatty acids content was lower in HPP treated inside, knuckle, and tenderloin cuts at 600 MPa compared to control. Nine essential and 8 non essential amino acids were identified in the lamb cuts. HPP increased the total free amino acids composition significantly (P ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Love Is Incompatible With Religion Essay February the 14th was once celebrated as a pagan fertility festival (Galician Merskin 2007, p. 318) rather than the commercialisation of love in the form of exorbitant chocolates and flowers that contribute to a billion dollar industry. In light of this prevalence, few would have discovered the historical association like Galician and Merskin. Yet for such scholars, it is hard to escape this notion regarding Valentine s Day, especially when it has come to adorn a seemingly warped definition that leads one to wonder if romantic love is indeed a modern day concept. Hence, this paper attempt to delineate the historical origins of romantic love in religion, which it opines useful in supporting the stance that romantic love is incompatible with religion. Specifically, it will draw on the monotheistic faith of Christianity as well as polytheistic religions of Buddhism and Hinduism. More focus would be dedicated to exploring Christianity based on the premise that this realm is the belief and thus the forte of the author. In addition, it will endeavour to establish that religion and romantic love are two mutually exclusive entities, underscoring that denominations within Christianity have tried to coexist with romantic love by setting up new branches out of the formal authority of the religion. Finally, it will conclude that despite the retractions provided, religion is incompatible with romantic love. The contemporary concept of romantic love rests on the premise that romantic ... We are all Eagle Scouts. Since 1911, there have been more than one million Boy Scouts that have earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank advancement in Scouting. However, only about two and a half percent of ALL Boy Scouts have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. It is a very long path, but one that is well worth the journey. This is the one thing that will have brought me both the greatest happiness and success throughout my life. If your mind and body are prepared for any obstacle that is thrown your way there is nothing that can stop you. This hits me strongly because I believe that when you set your mind to a goal in order to better yourself you need to set them out of reach so you continue to grow stronger as an individual. Now onto one particular point of the Scout Law. A Scout is Helpful. I believe this is the absolute most important point from the Scout Law. This is because from the very first breath you take as an infant, you will look out for yourself with a self centered point of view. For it is human nature to preserve oneself. But a Scout has the challenge of putting others first despite his own needs. This is a great representation of the honor that is involved with being a Scout. In order to be helpful, a Scout must be ready, able and willing to help as described in the Scout Handbook. This means that a Scout needs to have the knowledge, skills and abilities in order to help someone which goes back to the previous described Scout Motto Be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dennis Green s behavior of verbally attacking Heather King is inappropriate and unprofessional given that Heather King has a higher rank, but his behavior is understandable. There was a new source of fortune found in the Congo during the 1890s, rubber! An international rubber race was kicked off by the creation of the inflatable bicycle tire and kept going by the rise of the automobile using rubber in gaskets and industrial belts, as well as in shielding for telegraph and telephone wires. People raced to sow rubber trees throughout the tropics! However, the plants could take years to reach maturity, and during the meantime, there was money in the rubber trees that were already found in the wild. A great source of wild rubber was found in the Landolphia vines located in the Central African rainforest. No nation had more of that land than King Leopold. His private army (19,000 men) known as the Force Publique, would march into village and hold the women as hostage This would force all the men to go into the rainforest and gather quota of wild rubber per month. Pharmaceutical Companies And The Pharmaceutical Industry These pharmaceutical companies can increase their prices dramatically without the fear of losing profits because there is a lack of competition in their field. Since there is no other companies in the field to compete prices with, companies like Turing Pharmaceuticals can dramatically increase their price to increase their revenue. Even prior to Turing Pharmaceutical s price increase, there was no competitors and large profits were being made. What is odd about this situation is that despite the large amount of profits being earned there are no new competitors entering the field. With other industries, when is an observed large amounts of profits being earned, there can be seen a large amount of new competitors entering the market. However, this is not the case for the pharmaceutical industry. According to Donna Sym, there are no new entrants in the pharmaceutical industry, only mergers within the industry (443). There are no new pharmaceutical companies entering the field. Instead the current pharmaceutical companies are buying the ownership of the different drugs from each other. When there is new ownership of a particular drug, most likely there would be a price increase that follows along. As observed with Daraprim, when Turing Pharmaceuticals gained ownership of Daraprim, there was an observed price increase of more than 5,000 percent. Comparison Between Roman And Modern Era From calculating digital computations to setting the foundation of modern applications, the number system is more relevant in life and culture than most people realize. For example, people use the number system to organize sections and chapters from literature, keep financial affairs orderly and neatly, and compute numerous types of everyday costs. Also, it dictates how modern applications function and how programming languages work seamlessly. Despite these incredible accomplishments, the world would lack all knowledge of it were it not for ancient number systems. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example: IV = 4, IX = 9, XXXIV = 34, CIX = 109, CD = 400, and MCMIV = 1904. The key to handling this exception is to subtract the digit ahead of the power from the numeral itself [4]. Now that the basic numbers and rules have been covered, the arithmetic for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division can be understood. To calculate addition, one must first rewrite the numbers to arrange them in descending order after putting them together. Next, one must learn to ignore the subtractive system and write out individual numbers when appropriate. For example: 4 = IIII, 9 = VIIII, 34 = XXXIIII; but 3 still equals III, 6 still equals VI, and 37 still equals XXXVII. Third, evaluating in ascending order, one must rewrite trailing I digits into a simplified version. Finally, any further required simplification is performed. To demonstrate this, consider two numbers in addition, 13 + 66. The numbers are written side by side (XIII + LXVI), then put together in descending order (LXXVIIII). The four trailing I digits are rewritten as IV, and this number is rewritten as LXXVIV. The last three digits, the VIV, is equivalent to IX (9), so the number is rewritten one final time as LXXIX (79). For subtraction, one must borrow numbers by marking out common symbols in the second number. For example, LXVIII XII (68 12) = ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The recombinant form of the green fluorescent protein was successfully expressed and purified from E. coli. Qualitatively, the elution fraction E2 fluoresced the most when placed under a hand held UV lamp. Quantitatively, E2 also had the highest activity with 41900 RFUs when read by a fluorescent microplate reader. One way to increase the yield of rGFP would be to increase the IPTG induction time. The growth of the Latino population in the United States has been greatly increasing. As of 2008, 15.1% of the United States population is Latino. Some concerns that elderly Latinos may face are: family roles, health, caregiving, end of life issues, protective factors, and effective interventions (p. 309). Many of the Central American Latino grandparents have not completed high school, which has left them unemployed. Social workers who serve this group, should become more aware of the historical discrimination that this population has faced. Reflection: Due to the fact that the Latino population is still growing, it is important to consider the history of discrimination that they have faced due to America. Something that I found interesting is the ethical issues that were listed off. For example, making sure that they understand the informed consent. If it seems as if they do not understand it do not let them sign and do not assume the participants either. Most people in our society do not even read the informed consent and it is typically not a problem for them. It is also important to understand the heterogeneity of the Latino population. In an efficient market, a stock s price accurately depicts its fundamental value. However, researchers have shown that real markets are actually inefficient, and are hindered by risky arbitrage and irrational investors. Because of market frictions, incomplete information, and systematic biases, stock prices react to changes in uninformed demand in addition to actual fundamental shifts, resulting in sustained and pervasive mispricing. This essay aims to challenge the theory of market efficiency, and in so doing, support the position that stock prices do not always reflect stocks fundamental values. Riskless arbitrage is one underlying assumption of the efficient markets hypothesis. It theorizes that any opportunities to profit through mispriced stocks will be immediately exploited by savvy arbitrageurs and subsequently eliminated, returning market price to equilibrium at its fundamental value. However, in real markets, arbitrage is risky due to market frictions and incomplete information (Shleifer Summers, 1990). The market friction of transaction costs such as commission and the bid ask spread may limit the willingness of investors to participate in arbitrage.
