Narrative Essay About Snowboarding
Snowboarding
It was a nice day up in vermont the mountain was cold the snow was white like the clouds and just as
fluffy as a persian cats white delicate fur. Then that s when it happened we got up to the mountain my
father my brother and myself when we got to the mountain we were amazed. When we got to the top
of the mountain we saw an amazement of colors and that s when it happened me and my father had a
fight a little while earlier. When we got to the area we put on our ski and snowboarding gear and then
it started we went up the the ski lift and I was still angry at my dad.
When we got to the top I was pleasantly surprised to see my oldest and best friend at the top who was
coming down the mountain with his father. When I saw them I suddenly yelled to them to get their
attention and they came back to where we were and then the whole day turned around. When I saw my
friend Connor and Zeke and connor s father Steve I was so happy I felt like my body was going to
explode because of how happy that I was. I went over to Connor and Zeke and we started to catch up.
When we were talking me and my dad started to feel a little guilty and then after a little while I finally
apologized and then he apologized and then we made up.
One we had made up and resolved the conflicts that we had with each other earlier we were able to
fully hang out and enjoy the trip that we were taking. When we got to the top of the mountain we saw
the most beautiful site that we had ever seen

Columbus Day And The Columbus Day
Christopher Columbus is an Italian navigator who sailed west from Spain in 1492. He was in search
for the Indies(India, China and Japan) through the waters due to hostile armies and long distances on
land. Columbus thought he landed in the Indies when he actually landed in the Bahamas, welcomed in
by the Taino(Native Americans). However, Columbus did not go there to spread Christianity, he
forced the Taino into slavery, looting them, spreading deadly diseases that killed many Natives, and
taking their land (causing other people to come to the Americas). However, Columbus day is
celebrated by Americans thanking Columbus for finding America, but should we celebrate a man for
terrorizing Native Americans? In addition, to all of this chaos, there is a huge debate going on if
Confederate monuments should be allowed to stand or be taken down. These monuments come from
the American Civil War, the North(Union) versus the South(Confederates). The South relied heavily
on agriculture, using slaves to harvest their cotton. Some historians say that the South wanted to keep
slavery, while others say that the South fought mostly for the right to decide their own affairs. Even
though the North won, the South made monuments to make Confederate soldiers be portrayed as
selfless heroes(no monuments have anything about pro slavery). Columbus day should be celebrated
and the Confederate monuments should stay because people cannot forget their history, people respect
these things for different reasons, and people do not know the real reason to why Columbus day and
Confederate monuments are really celebrated for. The Civil War and Columbus finding the Americas
will always be in our history and can never be changed even if we try. Professor Leo Killsback of
Arizona State University talked of how Columbus Day is not a time of celebration but a reminder of
historic crimes against Native Americans ; while Laura Anastasia; the author of the article
Monumental Battle , she gives an insight in how We haven t really dealt with the legacy of the Civil
War and slavery . How us, Americans supposed to learn from our mistakes and grow as a country if
we take away the foundations that built the country where we live today? Columbus

Essay On Cinematic Techniques In Tim Burton
Tim Burton, arguably one of the most iconic directors in the world, is responsible for many popular
films including Frankenweenie, Alice in Wonderland, and Beetlejuice. His movies are easily
distinguishable due to his unique style of directing, which involve the brilliant use of cinematic
techniques. Two cinematic techniques incorporated in his films are color and sound, which are used to
establish the tone and mood of the scenes. If the tone and mood are not accurately shown, underlying
messages could be easily misunderstood or overlooked. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse
Bride, and Edward Scissorhands all have a common message: appearances can be deceptive.
Therefore, the cinematic technique of sound and color are essential ... Show more content on

Another cinematic technique that Burton incorporates throughout his films is sound. Sound establishes
the mood of the scene and complements the cinematic technique of color. For example, in Corpse
Bride, Burton not only uses vibrant colors as a contrast to the real world but sounds as well. The
scenes presented in the real world were very uptight and bland, however, in the underworld, we are
given an array of different sounds and music, involving a lively band playing groovy music. This sets
a mood of a lively vibe in comparison to the depressing mood in the real world which is also similar to
Willy Wonka s factory in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The exterior scene displaying Willy
Wonka s factory is silent and no music is heard. This leads to an assumption that Mr. Wonka is an
isolated man, however, as the film progresses, it is presented that he is a unique and quirky individual.
The songs made by the oompa loompas reflect his odd and creative character. This is yet again an
example of a misunderstood character, similar to that of Edward in Edward Scissorhands. When
Edward s castle comes into view, ominous music begins leaving the audience with an anxious or
uneasy feeling. However, when Peg meets Edward in
Pankovich 3 person, instead of scary music playing, an angelic choir is replaced giving a mood of the
innocence of Edward. These are some of the many examples where Burton uses music to demonstrate
that looks can be deceptive. By

The Canterbury Tales And Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
In The Canterbury Tales and in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, there were many thematic
messages. The Canterbury Tales, Chaucer portrays greed and corruption through church figures, social
ranks by having society split into five social groups, and gender relationships. In Sir Gawain and the
Green Knight, honor, loyalty, promises, and morality were the thematic messages. Sir Gawain had a
duty that would show his honor and loyalty and see if he can keep his promise to the Green Knight.
For Canterbury Tales, greed and corruption will be discussed. In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
honor is the main message so honor is the thematic message I ll discuss.
In Canterbury Tales a narrator and twenty nine pilgrims company each other on their way to
Canterbury. As they re on their way the narrator decides that they need to entertain each other with
stories. It will be a contest so whoever he judges to be the best storyteller will receive a meal at the
tavern. All stories will deal with either greed and corruption, social rank, or gender relationships. The
pilgrims draw straws and decide that the knight will go first. In the Pardoner´s Tale three men are on
the hunt for a mysterious figure named Death. As they are traveling down the road they meet an old
man who says he has been waiting for Death himself; he then directs the three drunken men to where
Death is. The three men followed his directions and ended up in a grove under an oak tree but Death
was not to be found, only eight

New Revenue Streams for the National Maritime Museum

The National Maritime Museum is a very welcoming place and vide range of information can be
found on their website. There is as well an interactive part were children with an adult help can make
various things like sea monster mask or globe. Many interesting tasks in Make your own can be done
at home but for the children of age 5 8 parents interaction would be needed. While further looking
how this could be brought in to a promises the idea came to mind. Rather than having the tool in
making mask or globe on line children could be doing it at the museum. There are no complicated
tools or objects involved in the process and children would not be proud in taking an item home and
sharing with their friends or siblings. This would as well show to parents that the museum is not just
about looking at the material collected. Children at the age of 5 8 are particular excited in showing
their achievements. The National Maritime Museum holds pirate day every Wednesday and Friday
and there are six sessions between both days. This shows that there is an interest for schools to
organise trips and bring children were they can become pirates for the day. Young boys and girls are
very interested in pirates. As their imagination is full of excitement it can be further broadened by
inviting them to dress up as pirate. Dressing up as a pirate would give them enjoyment and feeling that
they are real characters. They can as well

Animal Cruelty Is A More Serious Problem
Why is animal cruelty not a focus? Using books, articles, and a court case, I argue that animal cruelty
is a much more serious problem than most of us realize; we need to work harder to protect animals
rights and stop their suffering. Animal cruelty is a much bigger problem than we know, but we all
should know about. Animals suffer everyday and nobody knows or cares about but they don t deserve
to suffer because of us. There are ways we can take care of this, many of us never thought about.
Focusing on animals means we will also focus on children s needs. Animals feel pain and fear, even
though they don t show it. Animal cruelty is one of the biggest problems in the world. There are ways
we can stop animal cruelty. People should feel more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People who have fame have not focused the public s attention on animal cruelty. These people have
power, and when a person has power, people will follow and also attempt to get fame. The bad thing
the people with fame they don t know how to use it to benefit the human race and the world. They use
it just to help themselves become more known. And well the people with fame are people that don t
deserve it. Sadly it just continues to get worse. People just forget about the main problems in the
world. Lets Imagine that a young little boy right in front of you was getting beaten, sexually assaulted,
or even killed of course somebody would do something because we were raised to help one another as
a moral but why can t we do the same for animal. People have just forgotten their morals. What is the
difference between a human and any average animal not really anything. So why do we only care for
our species and not others? Animal cruelty is a much more serious problem than most of us realize; we
need to work harder to protect animals rights and stop their suffering.
Methods
I knew animal cruelty was a problem, but I wanted to know why people have done so little about it
and so little to help animals. I read plenty of articles that explain how animal cruelty is a definite
problem that needs to be taken care of but people don t see it as a problem. I read the February 23,
2013, article, Animal Abuse is a People Problem, on the official blog of Rescue Ink, because it

Comparing the Application of Integrated Marketing...
During the last decade of the twentieth century, the concept of integrated marketing communications
(IMC) received considerable attention from practitioners and academics alike, and that interest has
continued into the new millennium (e.g., Bearden and Madden 1996; Cornelissen and Lock 2000;
Duncan, Schultz, and Patti 2005; Garretson and Burton 2005; Nowak and Phelps 1994; Schultz and
Kitchen 2000a; Schumann, Artis, and Rivera 2001). As the marketplace has become more fragmented
over the years, organizations have embraced IMC as a means to effectively and efficiently target and
attract the splintering mass market through the transmission of a unified message across all contact
points between organizations and their consumers. Whether the ... Show more content on

For instance, an ad that contains a direct response tool (e.g., a coupon), a public relations appeal (e.g.,
support of an esteemed social cause), and brand advertising (e.g., depiction and description of the
offering) would reflect the integrated communication form of IMC. A key outcome of this approach is
the acquisition of consumer information that is captured when consumers respond to direct response
tools, sales promotions, and the like (Nowak and Phelps 1994).
The one voice approach reflects a firm s focus on a single positioning strategy that emphasizes unity
among brand/ image advertising, direct response advertising, public relations, and consumer sales
promotions at the outset of a promotional campaign (Reilly 1991; Snyder 1991). In this approach, the
position, message, or theme is what ultimately guides an organization s IMC decisions, which
ostensibly could be rendered independently by the firm s advertising, public relations, and sales
promotion agencies (Nowak and Phelps 1994).
The third approach, coordinated marketing communication campaigns, stresses the need to integrate
the activities of different marketing communication disciplines (e.g., sales promotions, advertising,
and public relations) in

Impact Of Immigration Reform In The 1920s-1960s
The period of 1920 1970 represented a period of numerous competing immigration policies and a
major debate about whether or not to reform immigration. Eventually, the reformers won the debate
and the immigration reform that happened during the 1920s 1960s were consistent with American
identity. Specifically, the reframing Asians as model minorities, the immigration reform policies that
happened, and the allowance of Mexican immigration into the U.S shifted American identity, from as
an all white country to a multicultural society, from restrictive on immigration to expansive on
immigration and finally from a restrictive country to a more democratic country.
The immigration reform policies that happened during the 1920s 1960s shifted American identity for
several reasons. First, according to the article Strangers in Cold War America: The Modern
Presidency, Committee Barons and Postwar Immigration Politics by Daniel J Tiechnor, pro
immigration activists advocated that America no longer exclude Chinese immigrants and offer them
100 visa slots. ( Tiechnor, 177). Therefore, America is perceived to be diverse in this manner by no
longer excluding Chinese. This action shifted American identity from an all white country to a diverse
country. Furthermore, the immigration reformers such as Truman wanted to reform immigration
policy to abide by the Black Civil Rights movement because it is important to achieving world peace
and it would be consistent with the vision of a democratic

Designing Spaces Made For A Space
As designers our role is to make a space not only aesthetically pleasing but functional. However
countless spaces to this day do not function properly because every person who enters it cannot use it.
Accessibility is often not considered in many interior space designs, which excludes people with
difficulties of mobility, vision, hearing, or dexterity. This exclusion or added difficulty means the
design has failed. As we have continued to learn about human factors with a focus on accessibility, I
have now looked at how I should design much differently. I am not thinking how would I like it , I am
now thinking how could everyone use this . Universal design is of utmost importance and as designers
we have a duty to ensure everyone that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example weakness, arthritis or low stamina, adding the wheelchair radius of 1700 mm eliminates
more of the complications. The next design feature and ergonomic consideration for the Assisted
Living Centre was an accessible two level reception desk. This design can and should be a feature that
comes with all reception desks. Having a two level reception desk allows people to either be served
standing, or served in a wheelchair. It also ensures children to be seen and helped. Having an obstacle
free desk where a wheelchair can fit underneath so the person can seek the assistance they need is
optimal universal design. There was also a lot of thought that went into the flooring choices for not
only the common areas but the retirement suites. Dealing with seniors there is a higher concern for
falls or slips. Choosing a floor that allowed a wheelchair or walker to pass over it as well provide
traction and grip was a must. There also had to be considerations of the hardness of the floor to
eliminate any chance of injury steering clear of unforgiving hardwoods was the decision that had to be
made. Flooring can be aesthetically pleasing as well contribute to the safety and ease of use in a space.
That is why taking these anthropometric considerations and adding them to our studio designs created
a more successful and accessible space. While in a space you should feel good, and that is where

Isolation In Death Of A Salesman Essay
In today s society, there is an abundance of ways to isolate one s self. Many do not realize the
complications that come with prolonged isolation. Arthur Miller, an American playwright of multiple
plays, specifically Death of a Salesman, has won multiple awards, such as; Pulitzer Prize for Drama,
and a Tony Award for Best Play. Miller, is able to distinctly represent complications, that are coupled
with isolation, for Linda and Willy Loman, coping mechanisms for isolation are vastly different from
one another, and still they both succeed in contributing to Willy s own isolation.
For some isolation is due to themselves, others are faced with isolation from another. Linda Loman is
the later. Blocked out from her husband, his mental stability, work aspects of his life, and overall well
being. Leaving Linda to learn how Willy is by accident and other sources, besides him. Such as: Linda

himself. [Death of a Salesman P.58], and Linda to Biff and Happy: ... She chokes, wipes her eyes. I

How Zipcar Has Become More Than A Car Rental Service
Abstract
The purpose of the study is to examine how Zipcar has become more than a car rental service. We will
explore the nature of access as it contrasts to ownership and sharing, specifically the consumer object,
consumer consumer, and consumer marketer relationships. Three aspects are identified to distinguish
among the range of access based consumption: temporality, consumer involvement and market
mediation. The nature of exchange, consumption and brand community are discussed.
http://jcr.oxfordjournals.org/content/39/4/881 Many studies have shown car sharing reduces the cost
of transportation for a large segment of urban dwellers. It also reduces the number of cars on the road
because the members do not own cars. Zipcar is a company founded in 2000 by Antje Danielson and
Robin Chase. By 2010 it had over 8000 vehicles offered to over 560,000 members in urban areas
throughout the 28 North American states and provinces. By 2012 Zipcar membership had increased to
700,000 members and 9000 vehicles in their possession (Zipcar.com). By the end of 2011, the annual
revenue had grown 30%. Zipcar started its car sharing business in Boston. Its mission was to make it
easy for residence living in the city to get in a car and use for however long they needed. Their goal
was to provide reliable and convenient access to on demand transportation, complementing other
means of mobility (Zipcar.com). This service would not be sustainable or functional without the

Micro Loans in Developing Countries: Can Micro Loans help in Reduce Poverty
The word poverty came from the Anglo Norman word povert. Poverty is predominantly seen in the
developing nations. Poverty is a where people lack their basic capacity to participate effectively in
society i.e. Not having enough money to provide food and clothes to their family, not being able to
work and earn for themselves. There are many reasons for poverty in developing countries some of
them include overpopulation, uneven distribution of resources ,lack of education, environmental

Microloan is one of the popular and effective method of reducing the poverty supported by all the
countries of the world especially the developing countries. This is an inspirational story started by a
common man in late 1970 s looking at the extreme poverty in his country. Micro loans or Micro
Financing was first started by Muhammad Yunus in Bangladesh. He started an Organisation called
Grameen Bank. The Grameen Bank provides small loans without collateral to small group of
borrowers. This small financing group later grew to large micro financing organisation by lending
money to thousands of people in the world. With the inspiration of Grameen Banks in Bangladesh
several small micro financing institutions sprang up around the world and a new movement called
International Microfinance Movement began in all the major continents of the world.
Micro financing organisations are increasing worldwide with variable interest rates depending on the
economic condition of the country. With the increasing technology accessing microloans has been
made easy ever since. KIVA is one of the most popular micro financing institutes which provide loans

Brian And Jessic Triangular Theory Of Love
1. Background
Brian and Jessica met about 2 years ago in NP and started dating about 1 year after they met. They are
both 19 this year, Brian is a Year 2 in the course Engineering with Business Management Programme,
while Jessica is in Mass Communication. The couple got to know one another as they are in the same
CCA. They got closer when Brian was elected as Captain, and Jessica was elected as Vice President.
2. Triangular Theory of Love
Brian and Jessica meet almost everyday in the weekdays for lunch, and occasionally for dinner too.
On Weekends, if they re both free, they will go out on a date. When I asked Brian if he felt the time
they see each other was sufficient, he told me that he would love to spend more time with Jessica, but
their conflicting schedules were always a boundary in making solid plans to meet up and spend time
together. Jessica, on the other hand, felt that the time spent together was just right, as she felt that
having too much time spent together would make things boring, as they would run out of topics to talk
about.
When asked who puts in more effort in the relationship, Brian felt that they were quite equal.
However, Jessica felt that Brian put in more effort than her, as most of the time, Brian is the one to set
up their daily meetups. Jessica added that Brian has also shared his long term goals in this relationship
.
From the first two questions that I ve asked the couple, it would seem that they definitely are
committed to one another, as

Causes Of Fast Fashion
Fast Fashion is a worldwide epidemic that encourages and feeds capitalism, consumerism, and the end
of our planet Earth. This is a detrimental 2 4 week cycle of designing clothes, manufacturing it,
producing mass quantities of it, and spreading it throughout the world in stores like H M, Forever 21,
Zara, ASOS, and many other brands. These brands usually all get mass quantities of clothes from
closely related sweatshops from countries where labor is cheap, and where safety laws and ethical
human rights are not enforced: china, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Bangladesh. Production of clothes
usually costs a small fraction of what they are selling it for, since all the materials are from regions all
over the world the worth of a shirt is much less than what you are buying it for. The reason this
vicious cycle is detrimental to our planet earth is because of the unending mass production. It
manufactures unbelievable amounts of one item, because it will be gone in the next 2 4 weeks from
the racks, and since they do not have enough time to remake the one item, they produce mass
quantities of it and what is not sold is waste that is piling up all around our world in landfills.
Fast Fashion is one of the leading causes for climate change, pollution, and it feeds the capitalistic
mouth that lives of off exploitation and slavery (free labor). It is because of crisis like Fast Fashion
that change is desperately needed and nonprofits alone cannot cut it. Social entrepreneurism, on the

Abstract
Human rights organization, groups or institutions work to protect the right of humanity and eradicate
human rights abuses. Some of these institutions, groups or organization are specific to the type, nature
and extent of the human rights law, they deal with, while others tackle issues relating to the whole.
The latter is usually a very active group as human rights in many ways are affected by the whole
process of globalization and capitalism. It is true that the most effect human rights agents are non
government related. This paper will look at one such non governmental organization (NGO), Anti
Slavery International (ASI). The particulars of the discourse will entail: a brief summary of past work,

Technology In VLSI Technology
Abstract Advancement in the VLSI technology leads to the reduction in chip size and increase in chip
density. As the chip density increases the overall power consumption and the complexity also
increases. As the performance of any system is measured mainly on power consumption, it is
recommended to use low power VLSI Design techniques. In this paper, we would discuss the GDI

II. GDI LOGIC Gate Diffusion Input (GDI) logic is a low power Very Large Scale Integrated (VLSI)
design technique which was introduced as an alternative to CMOS logic design. This technique is a

gates. GDI provides in cell swing restoration when operated in certain conditions and use of
restoration buffers. Digital circuits designed using GDI logic will have less power consumption
occupy a minimum area, gate count and delay in the circuit is reduced. Because of fewer gates, there

Uninsured Insurance
Car owners are required to carry insurance, to be used in the event of a loss. What this means is that
when you are involved in an accident, you can look to the insurance provider of the negligent driver to
make you whole again. Unfortunately, not everyone has the required coverage, which can leave you
holding the bag for expenses associated with an accident. In order to avoid this possibility, don t leave
home without adding uninsured/underinsured coverage to your policy.
The benefit to having this coverage is that if you are hit by an uninsured or underinsured driver, or are
the victim of a hit and run, you still have coverage available to cover the costs of personal injuries. Of
course your insurance company will want to conduct an investigation of the accident before paying a
claim, which is why you should partner with a skilled personal injury attorney to protect your
interests. To assist with the investigation, it is crucial that you act to preserve the evidence. You can do
this by taking down what insurance information the other driver does have, taking photos, and getting
the names and contact information of all witnesses. Taking these steps will help prove your case, and
may speed up the time it takes to receive compensation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

September 3rd, 2010. Quite an utterly unassuming day for most. On this day, I am eleven years old
and I have a doctor s appointment. I heaved myself out of my restful bed, and my stomach grumbled
and protested along with me. The doctors previously informed me not to eat following midnight, and
my absolute favorite meal is breakfast, so I was not too fond of this advice. Ravenous was the only
word to describe how I was feeling. After proceeding through the motions of readying myself for the
day ahead, I loaded into the car with my mother, and off we went. My mother s face was haggard with
perturbation, and her fingers gripped the steering wheel with a ferocity I had never distinguished
before. She was petrified. I was too, but the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We asked you to fast the night before so we could be certain that this was not just due to your
breakfast. These results mean that you most likely have type one diabetes. Those last three words
bounced around my brain before settling right behind my eyes, making them sting and water. What
did she mean? I thought that diabetes was what grandmothers were diagnosed with not eleven year
olds who were just enrolled in middle school. The doctor could detect the denial and dubiety in my
face. She explained to me that my weight loss, extreme thirst, and overall lethargy were caused by this
diagnosis. The puzzle pieces began to click into place, but I wanted to decimate them. The rest of the
information from my doctor was directed toward my mother because I had begun to cry. Hot, silent
tears burned rivets down my face, but I just let them trickle onto the thin paper of the table. My
mother gently tugged at my arm, and she led me to our car and explained that we were on our way to
an endocrinologist. The endocrinologist would be able to better explicate all of the technicalities
associated with my diagnosis. As we drove, my tears dried on my skin, and my face felt hot and itchy.
My whole world felt like it was cascading down,

Laurie Halse Anderson Forge
In the novel Forge by Laurie Halse Anderson, there are many definitions to the word forge. For one,
Curzon forges his way into the army. Additionally, the hardships Curzon experiences during war forge
him into a much stronger person. Finally, Curzon develops into a more mature and strong person by
expressing his emotions for Isabel. Forge is a multi layered word with many different meanings and
applications. Throughout the book, Anderson gives many different examples. One meaning of forge in
this novel is that in order to become a soldier, Curzon must forge a different persona for himself.
When he is first making his mark on the papers that define him as a soldier for the Continental Army
in chapter nine, he is asked if he is a free man. He is also asked in he is of ... Show more content on

In Chains and the beginning of Forge, Curzon is unable to accept, let alone express his feelings for
Isabel. Once they parted ways, when he would think of her he would pull on his ear; reminding
himself that she was gone, and it was silly to be thinking of her. This was a very immature approach to
the situation, and demonstrated that at the time, he would not have been ready to progress his
relationship with her. However, once they are back in the same household, Curzon begins to talk with
her, gradually trying to let her know of the way he feels. The climax of this is in chapter fifty three,
when he admits his feelings to her, and kisses her. It means, You are my heart. I leaned forward, took
her hands in mine, and whispered into her ear. You have always been my heart, Country. (p.244) This
quote shows that by this part in the novel, Curzon has developed from a boy into a young man. The
secret to growing up is learning how to express yourself in an appropriate manner, something that
Curzon has clearly accomplished given the way he handles the

Child Labor In Somalia
There are more than 200 million children that are labourers in this world. Somalia is ranked one of the
highest countries for child labor. Child labor began around the 1700 s and started because families and
people needed someone to work for them or they would not be able to survive. In Somalia and all over
the world, child labor is still present. Having to work in life threatening environments, work with
dangerous tools and weapons, and be forced into trafficking shows that there should be an end to child
labor.
Forced child labor starts at a very young age and is extremely harmful to children, especially if they
are put into the war. According to Thomson Returns Foundation, Some of them [Somali citizens]were
as young as 11 thin, malnourished, scary looking boys with bloodshot eyes in tattered clothes
(Baldwin). Since these poor children are forced to work at a young age, they quickly become ill. Once
children are around eleven years old, they are put to work. Also, their work includes a lot of dangerous
work which impacts them to physically look different from when they started working. The United
States Department of Labor claims that, Children planted explosive devices, acted as human shields,
conducted assassinations and suicide attacks, gathered intelligence, and provided domestic service;
girls were forced into sexual servitude (United States Department of Labor). Children are forced to

The Problem Of African Trypanosomiasis
African Trypanosomiasis is also known as sleeping sickness. It is important to understand that African
Trypanosomiasis is a vector borne parasitic disease with a geographical distribution limited to the
African continent where the disease is predominant. The parasites concerned are protozoa belonging
to the genus Trypanosoma (WHO, 2008). The disease is transmitted by the bite of a tsetse fly, which
has acquired their infection from human beings or from animals harboring the human pathogenic
parasites (WHO, 2008).
Human African trypanosomiasis(HAT) occurs only in sub Saharan Africa in regions where tsetse flies
are localised, without tsetse flies, the disease cannot be transmitted. For the disease to be transmitted it
is necessary to have the presence of someone infected or infected animals in the community and tsetse
fly (WHO, 2008).
HAT is among the most serious Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD). If untreated it is invariably fatal,
with gambiensese form generally causing a chronic disease leading to fatal squeal after some
years(Checchi et al, 2008).
Over 60 million people are living in 250 locations are at risk of contracting the disease, and under
10,000 new cases were reported in 2009. Occasionally, a pregnant woman can pass the infection to her
unborn baby. In theory, the infection can also be transmitted by blood transfusion or sexual contact,
but such cases have rarely been documented (CDC, 2012).

Reasons And Results Of The Civil War
Reasons and Results of the Civil War
The Civil War was a very critical event in American History. It started by many disagreements
between the North and the South. For blacks as for other Americans, the Civil War was a strong voice
preaching the needs for devotion and allegiance to form a justified nation. After the war ended there
were many results that would forever linger throughout America and the world. The South was known
as the Confederate States of America, seceded from the North, which was known as the Union. The
seceding of the South was because of four decades of intense sectional differences and conflicts
between both South and North. The secession of the Southern states was not an instinctive act.

On the other hand the South wanted to withhold all undetermined powers to the individual states and
to withhold all these projects. The predominant issue why the South seceded was the slavery issue.
The South wanted and called for slavery and would do anything they could to keep it. Cold heartedly
the slaves were items and if taken away would put a huge dent in investments towards Southerners.
The value to the slaveholding planter class was immeasurable. Northerners demanded for collective
bargaining to develop goals such as free education, better salaries and working conditions for workers,
and better rights for woman. Northerners said that slavery revoked the rights of a human to be a free
person. The subject of slavery left, and the North headed for war and eventually defeated the South in
the Civil War. Without this war I sorely would have to say that we could have been in a much more
segregated society than we already are. This war was needed in order to produce a stronger and more
stable country for everyone.
Slavery was abolished in the Union during Abraham Lincoln s presidency. Lincoln called it
Emancipation Proclamation. This movement was definitely a day of awakening for America as a
whole, which finally realized what free meant. All the Southern states would soon rejoin the Union.
After the war concluded

Reflection Paper On The Middle Earth
Throughout this semester, completing essay papers, which originated from ideas portrayed in the
chapters of William Least Heat Moon s book PrairyErth, I have become very interested in the ways we
are harming the planet. I have thought deeply and conducted in depth research into alternatives for
electricity, agriculture and how we affect the environment. Over Thanksgiving, I was speaking with
my uncle about how I wished I had the money to get in on building the groundwork required for
electric transportation to flourish. I was surprised when he turned his nose up to this idea and
presented his point of view on the subject. After this incident, I decided to research the topic even

Saudi Arabia also faces challenges in fracking their shale oil supplies due to the lack of the fresh water
required for this technique (Zaleski).
I guess, with this evidence, my uncle would have probably said, well then, this further proves that we
don t need electric and hybrid technology. There are too many controversies with fracking though, at
least for me, to accept this as a long term solution. To give you just an abbreviated idea of some of
frackings issues, here is a shortlist. It requires that we pump millions of gallons of water mixed with
tens of thousands of gallons of chemicals into the ground, which could potentially seep into our
drinking water sources. The water used for fracking must remain in the earth once contaminated for
proper disposal. How can we remove this much water from the natural cycle when there are so many
locations already susceptible to drought conditions? This process has also been causing a multitude of
earthquakes in regions that before did not have them. Another drawback is that during the fracking
process methane gas could be and likely is being leaked into the atmosphere. Methane gas is even
worse for the greenhouse effect than the carbon dioxide we usually worry over (Loki).
I could also see the conversation with my uncle turning to, what would we do with all of the current
fuel burning cars, and won t it take fossil fuels to charge the electric vehicles anyways? My answer for

Noah and Utnapishtim s Wild Ride
Almost every religion in the world has a story about the Great Flood which destroys the earth, and
each teaches its followers a different story about this disaster. While the Babylonians have the story of
Utnapishtim from the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Judeo Christians have Noah from the Bible. Both men

situations, but a further analysis shows how truly different the two stories are.

out was a raven, and she did not return, for she had found a place to rest (par 16). The first bird Noah
sent out was a raven (8:7). He sent out the dove next, but she returned with no place to rest (8:8 9). He
waited for a week and sent the dove out again, and she brought back an olive branch (8:10 11). He

the birds that let them know the water is gone are different.
Noah and Utnapishtim seem to survive similar situations in each story, but they are a far cry from each

inside the boats for different lengths of time as well. They both sent out different birds for various

Should There Be Stricter Gun Control Laws In The United...
Guns or No Guns
INTRODUCTION:
The role guns play in our society has long been debated on whether or not citizens have the right to
own guns. There are those who believe that guns have no role in the hands of private citizens.
Whereas there are those who believe that guns are the very foundation that protects our rights and
liberties expressed in the Constitution. The debate is over whether or not there should be stricter laws
preventing people to own guns. Though gun control and gun rights advocates share similar views on
background checks and requirements, each have different views on the safety of guns and the Second
Amendment meaning.
Safety: CONTRAST
Both sides of gun control advocates believe that the safety of American citizens is the most important
thing within the argument of the ban of guns, but they both have different views on how it should be
handled.
No Guns:
Some people believe that the United States is safer when citizens are not allowed access to guns. The
amount of organized crime would go down because all of their power is derived from their use of
firearms and that is a significant amount of their profit. Gun control laws protect children and families;
Moms Demand Action, a grassroots group founded in response to the tragedy at Sandy Hook

The second amendment clearly gives Americans the right to bear arms which led to the founding of
our country ( The Constitution of the United States, Amendment 2). Gun advocates believe the new

Amendment II. The right to bear arms for self defense is protected in all states as well as the U.S.

Week 6 Team Project: What to Do
Introduction
In this age of technology, it is amazing how quickly a technological advance can become obsolete in a
very short span of time. Nokia was the only name in cell phones in the early 2000 s, now some
consumers have no idea who Nokia is. The next generation of cell phone buyers are loyal to Apple
since their smartphone hit the market and offered applications that Nokia considered a fad. By the
time Nokia did realize that it needed to act and create competition for Apple, it was too late. Prior to
the introduction of Apple s iPhone, the company was known for providing cell phones that were easy
to use. By the mid to late 2000 s, the company began introducing phones that even with a manual,
were hard to figure out. Nokia s Symbian based E51 phone was introduced in 2008 and one user noted
that upon receipt, wondered about it for a week (Dilger, 2013). The user compared it to his purchase of
the IPod Touch six months earlier and stated, I ordered my iPod touch, turned it on, and knew
immediately how to use it (Dilger, 2013). He had used the device daily for a period of over six months
and did not once have to refer to the manual. The article goes on to state that Apple s IPod Touch was
a huge success all over the world (Dilger, 2013). In comparison to Nokia s Symbian, the user

Daoist Sage Themes
Daoism is one of the main philosophical traditions in China and the East. Daoism uses nature as a
guide to understand the way to live and by using common themes like the Yin and Yang and The One
or better known as the child, the Daoist Sage reflects a harmonised way of living. These two themes
from chapters stated above help identify the meaning of Daoism, and what this way of living reflects.
Laozi and the Dao de Jing reflect the Yin and Yang throughout the book, although chapter 28 delves
further into the idea of the Yin and Yang through the representation of female and male.
There is a strong emphasis on opposites, which represent both femininity and masculinity. Although

ideas that there is a balance of both black and white in this symbol representing balance reflect the

Laozi and Dao De Jing.
Chapter 28 also involves the power of inclusivity instead of dividing the way of the cultivating order,
which can signify the idea of the Yin and Yang symbol of balance.

African American Womanhood
African American women, often perceived as a sexual object or the Jezebel (the stereotype of white
man view of the black woman as loose and over sexed) have struggled to eliminate images that
promote sexual exploitation such as their promiscuity (showing off their breast, behind, legs, and
showing much of their skin on television, music videos and magazines) through the use of feminist
movements and the creation of the womanist movement. However, in modern day society, black
women have accepted these sexual ideas which were once considered to be dishonorable. The
acceptance of this image, a direct cause of social construction and suppressed oppression, has given
rise to a disturbed vision of black womanhood for years to come. Despite this, ... Show more content

While both Black and White women are subject to sexualized images, the white woman defines the
standard of the socially acceptable view of what it is to be a woman. Not being able to fit into that set
of stereotypes, Black women consequently become deemed as the other within their own gender. The
stereotypes formed for African American women were even more significantly derogatory than that of
the image of the submissive house slave. This ideology of the 19th century Eurocentric norm was to
objectify these woman as sexually promiscuous. By exaggerating their actions and portraying them
into a negative perception, these portrayals were designed to oppress these women and deem them
inferior to their female counterpart. Decades later, these images still have influence today in the
perceptions of the Black women and their bodies. A great example of this sexism and racism can be
seen in today s criticism about female sports athletes such as the six time U. S Open tennis champion

today s media with remarks such as the sisters being too masculine , Gorilla like and Savage . She is

  • 2. Narrative Essay About Snowboarding Snowboarding It was a nice day up in vermont the mountain was cold the snow was white like the clouds and just as fluffy as a persian cats white delicate fur. Then that s when it happened we got up to the mountain my father my brother and myself when we got to the mountain we were amazed. When we got to the top of the mountain we saw an amazement of colors and that s when it happened me and my father had a fight a little while earlier. When we got to the area we put on our ski and snowboarding gear and then it started we went up the the ski lift and I was still angry at my dad. When we got to the top I was pleasantly surprised to see my oldest and best friend at the top who was coming down the mountain with his father. When I saw them I suddenly yelled to them to get their attention and they came back to where we were and then the whole day turned around. When I saw my friend Connor and Zeke and connor s father Steve I was so happy I felt like my body was going to explode because of how happy that I was. I went over to Connor and Zeke and we started to catch up. When we were talking me and my dad started to feel a little guilty and then after a little while I finally apologized and then he apologized and then we made up. One we had made up and resolved the conflicts that we had with each other earlier we were able to fully hang out and enjoy the trip that we were taking. When we got to the top of the mountain we saw the most beautiful site that we had ever seen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Columbus Day And The Columbus Day Christopher Columbus is an Italian navigator who sailed west from Spain in 1492. He was in search for the Indies(India, China and Japan) through the waters due to hostile armies and long distances on land. Columbus thought he landed in the Indies when he actually landed in the Bahamas, welcomed in by the Taino(Native Americans). However, Columbus did not go there to spread Christianity, he forced the Taino into slavery, looting them, spreading deadly diseases that killed many Natives, and taking their land (causing other people to come to the Americas). However, Columbus day is celebrated by Americans thanking Columbus for finding America, but should we celebrate a man for terrorizing Native Americans? In addition, to all of this chaos, there is a huge debate going on if Confederate monuments should be allowed to stand or be taken down. These monuments come from the American Civil War, the North(Union) versus the South(Confederates). The South relied heavily on agriculture, using slaves to harvest their cotton. Some historians say that the South wanted to keep slavery, while others say that the South fought mostly for the right to decide their own affairs. Even though the North won, the South made monuments to make Confederate soldiers be portrayed as selfless heroes(no monuments have anything about pro slavery). Columbus day should be celebrated and the Confederate monuments should stay because people cannot forget their history, people respect these things for different reasons, and people do not know the real reason to why Columbus day and Confederate monuments are really celebrated for. The Civil War and Columbus finding the Americas will always be in our history and can never be changed even if we try. Professor Leo Killsback of Arizona State University talked of how Columbus Day is not a time of celebration but a reminder of historic crimes against Native Americans ; while Laura Anastasia; the author of the article Monumental Battle , she gives an insight in how We haven t really dealt with the legacy of the Civil War and slavery . How us, Americans supposed to learn from our mistakes and grow as a country if we take away the foundations that built the country where we live today? Columbus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay On Cinematic Techniques In Tim Burton Tim Burton, arguably one of the most iconic directors in the world, is responsible for many popular films including Frankenweenie, Alice in Wonderland, and Beetlejuice. His movies are easily distinguishable due to his unique style of directing, which involve the brilliant use of cinematic techniques. Two cinematic techniques incorporated in his films are color and sound, which are used to establish the tone and mood of the scenes. If the tone and mood are not accurately shown, underlying messages could be easily misunderstood or overlooked. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, and Edward Scissorhands all have a common message: appearances can be deceptive. Therefore, the cinematic technique of sound and color are essential ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another cinematic technique that Burton incorporates throughout his films is sound. Sound establishes the mood of the scene and complements the cinematic technique of color. For example, in Corpse Bride, Burton not only uses vibrant colors as a contrast to the real world but sounds as well. The scenes presented in the real world were very uptight and bland, however, in the underworld, we are given an array of different sounds and music, involving a lively band playing groovy music. This sets a mood of a lively vibe in comparison to the depressing mood in the real world which is also similar to Willy Wonka s factory in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The exterior scene displaying Willy Wonka s factory is silent and no music is heard. This leads to an assumption that Mr. Wonka is an isolated man, however, as the film progresses, it is presented that he is a unique and quirky individual. The songs made by the oompa loompas reflect his odd and creative character. This is yet again an example of a misunderstood character, similar to that of Edward in Edward Scissorhands. When Edward s castle comes into view, ominous music begins leaving the audience with an anxious or uneasy feeling. However, when Peg meets Edward in Pankovich 3 person, instead of scary music playing, an angelic choir is replaced giving a mood of the innocence of Edward. These are some of the many examples where Burton uses music to demonstrate that looks can be deceptive. By ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Canterbury Tales And Sir Gawain And The Green Knight In The Canterbury Tales and in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, there were many thematic messages. The Canterbury Tales, Chaucer portrays greed and corruption through church figures, social ranks by having society split into five social groups, and gender relationships. In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, honor, loyalty, promises, and morality were the thematic messages. Sir Gawain had a duty that would show his honor and loyalty and see if he can keep his promise to the Green Knight. For Canterbury Tales, greed and corruption will be discussed. In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight honor is the main message so honor is the thematic message I ll discuss. In Canterbury Tales a narrator and twenty nine pilgrims company each other on their way to Canterbury. As they re on their way the narrator decides that they need to entertain each other with stories. It will be a contest so whoever he judges to be the best storyteller will receive a meal at the tavern. All stories will deal with either greed and corruption, social rank, or gender relationships. The pilgrims draw straws and decide that the knight will go first. In the Pardoner´s Tale three men are on the hunt for a mysterious figure named Death. As they are traveling down the road they meet an old man who says he has been waiting for Death himself; he then directs the three drunken men to where Death is. The three men followed his directions and ended up in a grove under an oak tree but Death was not to be found, only eight ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The National Maritime Museum is a very welcoming place and vide range of information can be found on their website. There is as well an interactive part were children with an adult help can make various things like sea monster mask or globe. Many interesting tasks in Make your own can be done at home but for the children of age 5 8 parents interaction would be needed. While further looking how this could be brought in to a promises the idea came to mind. Rather than having the tool in making mask or globe on line children could be doing it at the museum. There are no complicated tools or objects involved in the process and children would not be proud in taking an item home and sharing with their friends or siblings. This would as well show to parents that the museum is not just about looking at the material collected. Children at the age of 5 8 are particular excited in showing their achievements. The National Maritime Museum holds pirate day every Wednesday and Friday and there are six sessions between both days. This shows that there is an interest for schools to organise trips and bring children were they can become pirates for the day. Young boys and girls are very interested in pirates. As their imagination is full of excitement it can be further broadened by inviting them to dress up as pirate. Using books, articles, and a court case, I argue that animal cruelty is a much more serious problem than most of us realize; we need to work harder to protect animals rights and stop their suffering. During the last decade of the twentieth century, the concept of integrated marketing communications (IMC) received considerable attention from practitioners and academics alike, and that interest has continued into the new millennium (e.g., Bearden and Madden 1996; Cornelissen and Lock 2000; Duncan, Schultz, and Patti 2005; Garretson and Burton 2005; Nowak and Phelps 1994; Schultz and Kitchen 2000a; Schumann, Artis, and Rivera 2001). For instance, an ad that contains a direct response tool (e.g., a coupon), a public relations appeal (e.g., support of an esteemed social cause), and brand advertising (e.g., depiction and description of the offering) would reflect the integrated communication form of IMC. A key outcome of this approach is the acquisition of consumer information that is captured when consumers respond to direct response tools, sales promotions, and the like (Nowak and Phelps 1994). The one voice approach reflects a firm s focus on a single positioning strategy that emphasizes unity among brand/ image advertising, direct response advertising, public relations, and consumer sales promotions at the outset of a promotional campaign (Reilly 1991; Snyder 1991). In this approach, the position, message, or theme is what ultimately guides an organization s IMC decisions, which ostensibly could be rendered independently by the firm s advertising, public relations, and sales promotion agencies (Nowak and Phelps 1994). The third approach, coordinated marketing communication campaigns, stresses the need to integrate the activities of different marketing communication disciplines (e.g., sales promotions, advertising, and public relations) in ... • 9. Impact Of Immigration Reform In The 1920s-1960s The period of 1920 1970 represented a period of numerous competing immigration policies and a major debate about whether or not to reform immigration. Eventually, the reformers won the debate and the immigration reform that happened during the 1920s 1960s were consistent with American identity. Specifically, the reframing Asians as model minorities, the immigration reform policies that happened, and the allowance of Mexican immigration into the U.S shifted American identity, from as an all white country to a multicultural society, from restrictive on immigration to expansive on immigration and finally from a restrictive country to a more democratic country. The immigration reform policies that happened during the 1920s 1960s shifted American identity for several reasons. First, according to the article Strangers in Cold War America: The Modern Presidency, Committee Barons and Postwar Immigration Politics by Daniel J Tiechnor, pro immigration activists advocated that America no longer exclude Chinese immigrants and offer them 100 visa slots. ( Tiechnor, 177). Therefore, America is perceived to be diverse in this manner by no longer excluding Chinese. This action shifted American identity from an all white country to a diverse country. Furthermore, the immigration reformers such as Truman wanted to reform immigration policy to abide by the Black Civil Rights movement because it is important to achieving world peace and it would be consistent with the vision of a democratic ... However countless spaces to this day do not function properly because every person who enters it cannot use it. Accessibility is often not considered in many interior space designs, which excludes people with difficulties of mobility, vision, hearing, or dexterity. This exclusion or added difficulty means the design has failed. As we have continued to learn about human factors with a focus on accessibility, I have now looked at how I should design much differently. It also ensures children to be seen and helped. Having an obstacle free desk where a wheelchair can fit underneath so the person can seek the assistance they need is optimal universal design. There was also a lot of thought that went into the flooring choices for not only the common areas but the retirement suites. Dealing with seniors there is a higher concern for falls or slips. Choosing a floor that allowed a wheelchair or walker to pass over it as well provide traction and grip was a must. There also had to be considerations of the hardness of the floor to eliminate any chance of injury steering clear of unforgiving hardwoods was the decision that had to be made. • 16. Causes Of Fast Fashion Fast Fashion is a worldwide epidemic that encourages and feeds capitalism, consumerism, and the end of our planet Earth. This is a detrimental 2 4 week cycle of designing clothes, manufacturing it, producing mass quantities of it, and spreading it throughout the world in stores like H M, Forever 21, Zara, ASOS, and many other brands. These brands usually all get mass quantities of clothes from closely related sweatshops from countries where labor is cheap, and where safety laws and ethical human rights are not enforced: china, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Bangladesh. Production of clothes usually costs a small fraction of what they are selling it for, since all the materials are from regions all over the world the worth of a shirt is much less than what you are buying it for. The reason this vicious cycle is detrimental to our planet earth is because of the unending mass production. It manufactures unbelievable amounts of one item, because it will be gone in the next 2 4 weeks from the racks, and since they do not have enough time to remake the one item, they produce mass quantities of it and what is not sold is waste that is piling up all around our world in landfills. • 25. The Problem Of African Trypanosomiasis African Trypanosomiasis is also known as sleeping sickness. It is important to understand that African Trypanosomiasis is a vector borne parasitic disease with a geographical distribution limited to the African continent where the disease is predominant. The parasites concerned are protozoa belonging to the genus Trypanosoma (WHO, 2008). The disease is transmitted by the bite of a tsetse fly, which has acquired their infection from human beings or from animals harboring the human pathogenic parasites (WHO, 2008). Human African trypanosomiasis(HAT) occurs only in sub Saharan Africa in regions where tsetse flies are localised, without tsetse flies, the disease cannot be transmitted. For the disease to be transmitted it is necessary to have the presence of someone infected or infected animals in the community and tsetse fly (WHO, 2008). HAT is among the most serious Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD). If untreated it is invariably fatal, with gambiensese form generally causing a chronic disease leading to fatal squeal after some years(Checchi et al, 2008). Over 60 million people are living in 250 locations are at risk of contracting the disease, and under 10,000 new cases were reported in 2009. It makes you wonder about the government inspector and all the ethics he brings to the government and their policies. It started by many disagreements between the North and the South. For blacks as for other Americans, the Civil War was a strong voice preaching the needs for devotion and allegiance to form a justified nation. After the war ended there were many results that would forever linger throughout America and the world. The South was known as the Confederate States of America, seceded from the North, which was known as the Union. The seceding of the South was because of four decades of intense sectional differences and conflicts between both South and North. The secession of the Southern states was not an instinctive act. The predominant issue why the South seceded was the slavery issue. The South wanted and called for slavery and would do anything they could to keep it. Cold heartedly the slaves were items and if taken away would put a huge dent in investments towards Southerners. The value to the slaveholding planter class was immeasurable. Northerners demanded for collective bargaining to develop goals such as free education, better salaries and working conditions for workers, and better rights for woman. Northerners said that slavery revoked the rights of a human to be a free person. The subject of slavery left, and the North headed for war and eventually defeated the South in the Civil War. Without this war I sorely would have to say that we could have been in a much more segregated society than we already are. This war was needed in order to produce a stronger and more stable country for everyone. Slavery was abolished in the Union during Abraham Lincoln s presidency. Lincoln called it Emancipation Proclamation. This movement was definitely a day of awakening for America as a whole, which finally realized what free meant. I have thought deeply and conducted in depth research into alternatives for electricity, agriculture and how we affect the environment. Over Thanksgiving, I was speaking with my uncle about how I wished I had the money to get in on building the groundwork required for electric transportation to flourish. I guess, with this evidence, my uncle would have probably said, well then, this further proves that we don t need electric and hybrid technology. There are too many controversies with fracking though, at least for me, to accept this as a long term solution. To give you just an abbreviated idea of some of frackings issues, here is a shortlist. It requires that we pump millions of gallons of water mixed with tens of thousands of gallons of chemicals into the ground, which could potentially seep into our drinking water sources. The water used for fracking must remain in the earth once contaminated for proper disposal. How can we remove this much water from the natural cycle when there are so many locations already susceptible to drought conditions? This process has also been causing a multitude of earthquakes in regions that before did not have them. Another drawback is that during the fracking process methane gas could be and likely is being leaked into the atmosphere. Methane gas is even worse for the greenhouse effect than the carbon dioxide we usually worry over (Loki). Nokia was the only name in cell phones in the early 2000 s, now some consumers have no idea who Nokia is. The next generation of cell phone buyers are loyal to Apple since their smartphone hit the market and offered applications that Nokia considered a fad. By the time Nokia did realize that it needed to act and create competition for Apple, it was too late. Prior to the introduction of Apple s iPhone, the company was known for providing cell phones that were easy to use. By the mid to late 2000 s, the company began introducing phones that even with a manual, were hard to figure out. Nokia s Symbian based E51 phone was introduced in 2008 and one user noted that upon receipt, wondered about it for a week (Dilger, 2013). The user compared it to his purchase of the IPod Touch six months earlier and stated, I ordered my iPod touch, turned it on, and knew immediately how to use it (Dilger, 2013). This ideology of the 19th century Eurocentric norm was to objectify these woman as sexually promiscuous. By exaggerating their actions and portraying them into a negative perception, these portrayals were designed to oppress these women and deem them inferior to their female counterpart.
