Summary 2008 Financial Crisis
The financial crisis began in early 2006 when the subprime mortgage market in the U.S. began to
display an increasing rate of mortgage defaults. These defaults lead, in late 2006, to a decline in US
housing prices after nearly a decade of exceptionally high growth. Many Americans watched as their
primary source of wealth become increasingly devalued. By late 2007, the prime mortgage markets
were showing higher than normal default rates as well.
Collateralized Mortgage Obligations (CMOs), a type of collateralized debt obligations (CDOs),
allowed these problems to spread from the mortgage market to other sectors of the economy, having
especially widespread effects on financial markets as a whole. CMOs were mortgage backed securities

These liquidity problems turned to insolvency in September of 2008, when private lending froze
completely in a number of important credit markets, such as commercial paper. As a result, non
financial businesses were unable to get access to the financing they required to function normally,
leading to problems in the real economy.
The real economy began to exhibit problems related to the financial crisis as early as March 2006,
when investment expenditure on residential structures began to decline. In early 2008, this decline
spread to investment in business equipment and consumer spending on durable goods. It wasn t until
the summer of 2008 that consumer spending broadly and GDP began falling, signs of a recession. (In
December 2008, the National Bureau of Economic Research, official arbiter of business cycles dated
the formal beginning of the recession as December 2007.) While the public had been concerned about
recession for much of the year, it wasn t until the fall that the economy began to decline at more than a
6% annual rate. Congress responded by passing the TARP plan to assist failing financial institutions.
This plan was meant to decrease the severity of the recession by treating its cause: the financial crisis.

Ikea Brand
IKEA has created a global brand focused on low prices and contemporary designs. In 2009, Interbrand
ranked IKEA 28th on its list of the top 100 global brands (# 35 in 2008 indicating 10% increase in
brand value over just year). IKEA s success is attributed to its vast experience in the furniture retail
market, its product differentiation and cost leadership. The brand Ikea has become iconic in consumers
minds. CEO, Anders Dahlvig, states the awareness of our brand is much bigger than the size of our
company (Kling, K Goteman, I., 2003). IKEA is growing aggressively around the world and at each of
the store openings there are wacky promotions. For example, at an Atlanta store opening (2005), the

Louisiana Black Bear Essay
The Louisiana black bear (Ursus americanus luteolus) is a subspecies of the American black bear
(Ursus americanus). The Louisiana black bear was once found roaming all over Louisiana and parts of
Arkansas, Texas, and Mississippi. However, during the 18th and 19th century, bear hunting became
popular and large amounts of forest areas disappeared due to the demand for wood and agricultural
land. By the 1950 s, the Louisiana black bear s population was down to eighty to one hundred twenty.
In efforts, to save the species the Director of Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries temporarily closed

Currently, most Louisiana black bears live in St. Mary and Iberia in south Louisiana, Tensas, and West

What is one of the most powerful effect on society? Everyone has its individual opinion about the
most powerful effect; however, majority of people consider that sport is an action that makes people
better in their psychological, mental and physical way. Sport is life style that helps to people to
overcome obstacles, poverty, illnesses and depression. From 17,300 years ago people realize that

From the point of functionalist, sport might have significant positive effects on society such as;
football and track and field in African countries and biathlon and ski racing in Scandinavian countries.
Moreover, various examples show that sport affects to society in positive and inspirational way. For
instance, football and track and field are so popular among African juveniles. The reason is, majority
of African countries are poor and don t have enough resources and opportunity to build track, stadiums
and sport complex. Another point is that, in Scandinavian countries 80 % of population are involved in
winter sports. Parents prefer to take their children to winter sports instead of other sport activities.
Functionalist, would assert that it affects on society from many positive aspects. First is that a lot of
African sportsman are popular in European countries and earn a lot of money. By doing this they
donate money to African government and create opportunity to develop sport in their country.
Secondly, developing biathlon and ski racing in Scandinavian counties, helps people to reduce stress,

Rizwan Alternate Ending
Can I open the window? So fixated on the interrogation, Razaa s question made Ally jump. Rizwan
waved his consent and continued. I have heard a version of the story. Maybe you can tell me if this is
accurate. The morning sun spread across the room the instant the drapes behind her pulled apart.
Razaa, he said. You were there when my son died. No? When the door slid open, a much needed
breeze wound through the room, cooling them off. Yes, sir. He smiled at the man behind Ally. Wassim
tells me you heard her confess to killing him. Ally s body stilled as she braced herself.
Since the conversation was in English, Wassim sat rigid watching the interaction. At the mention of

guard behind him. The pair landed on the floor. The only sound she heard was her own breathing as
she waited for them to move. Blood trickled from them creating a puddle on the ground. In stunned
silence, she watched the red pool of liquid widen. Someone grabbed her wrist and pulled her to the
floor. When she tried to yank her arm away, Razaa sandwiched her hand between his two palms.
Please, Sara Mommy. Trust me, he mouthed. Before he was done, the room erupted in screams.

South Syrian City Of Deraa Devolved Into A Full Blown...
In March 2011, peaceful protests in the southern Syrian city of Deraa devolved into a full blown civil
conflict. Within the last five years, more than 12.2 million people have been impacted, with 7.6
million people displaced inside Syria and more than 3.8 million displaced in neighboring nations. The
majority of refugees are now living in Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Egypt and Iraq. The current concern
about the humanitarian crisis is whether the aid is reaching refugees or being diverted in ways that
bolster a prolonged civil war. For this essay s purpose, aid is defined as aid and action designed to
save lives, alleviate suffering and maintain and protect human dignity during and in the aftermath of
man made crises and natural disasters, as well as to prevent and strengthen preparedness for the
occurrence of such situations.
Although the current aid set up is intended to cover all existing needs inside Syria, national and
international aid is being highly controlled by the Bashar al Assad regime, and aid beyond the
Damascus borders is extremely limited. Recently, there have been numerous reports issued by the
Syrian government that opposition rebels are seizing international aid, and rebels responded with
accusations of regime forces starving besieged towns. Thus, humanitarian aid organizations are
required to distribute aid through local non governmental organizations (NGOs) that are already
operating at full capacity and have a limited geographical scope. This atmosphere

This topic is important to me, because healthcare industry is ever evolving, there are medical devices
developed to help patients maintain their well being at home and keep them out of hospital settings.
Innovative technology is convenient for doctors and clinician to utilize, because there are some
medical devices that assist the clinicians and surgeons. As a result, this makes the medical procedures
safer and invasive and reduces patient recovery times. Furthermore, technology improves the overall
clinical and operational expenses for healthcare providers. It is important for hospital and clinicians to

Sharer s dramatic meaning is that social media allows adolescents to wear a mask and create a

arrogant as she looks down on most people. Her online and reality personas are mostly the same. Sam
when talking to Brit online can be seen becoming uneasy by his tone when responding. He continues
with the conversation beating up Martin as he is able to wear that mask as he believes Martin will not

multiple times as she wants to post it online. She wants this photo to be perfect as she wants to seem
perfect so she does not lose her reputation. When they leave the room and Martin comes in Sam s
conversation with Brit is read by him and he discovers what they said about him. This causes Martin
to be anger and helps start building tension between them, this scene destroys the idea that online you

This also creates more tension between Martin, Sam and Brit as it affects Brit

Factors That Affect Business Such As A Labour Market,...
There are many factors that affect business such as: labour market, capital and target market. Ever
since international trading has become more liberalised and popular, the changes of international
economy has also impacted on development of companies, especially effect of foreign exchange rate.
A foreign exchange rate can be defined as the price of one currency compared to another currency.
This essay will focus on some different issues related to the foreign exchange rate, which include a
tendency of losing the value of currency or inflation risk, the difficulty of making future plans, facing
increasing cost and profit reduction. It will then move on to evaluate the solutions for these
aforementioned problems.

Consequently, using relevant monetary policy is an important role to control influence of exchange
rate on inflation. There are many different monetary policy in each country such as: fix exchange rate,
floating exchange rate. Some countries would choose fix exchange rate policy to reduce inflation, it
means central bank will prevent the home currency supply from increasing too quickly. In this case,
central bank will purchase the supply of own currency from private investors to balance supply and
demand at the fix exchange rate. So domestic currency supply will reduce and inflation is controlled.
Besides, other countries use floating exchange rate or flexible exchange rate to adjust

Engineering And Its Impact On The United States
Engineering was newly introduced to the United States in the late 1700s. The jobs were minimal and
fully educated men were few and far between. America had a shaky start in the engineering field, but
the profession quickly picked up speed. From 2009 to 2013, engineering degrees grew twice as fast as
other disciplines (Bidwell, The number of STEM degrees earned in the last 5 years grew exceptionally
). Everything from the most basic principles of engineering and the minutiae of an engineer s daily
routine, to complexities such as payment and respect for the profession have changed drastically since
the 1800s due to more people becoming open to the ideas of innovation and diversity in such an
integral field. Engineers are the life blood of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was not until the mid 1900s that only educated and trained people could call themselves engineers.
To be considered a professional engineer, a license is needed (Mraz, Changes in the Engineering
Profession Over 80 Years ). Another evolution of engineering that occurred, was companies switching
to a system called concurrent engineering. This is essentially just making sure that all of the
employees for a certain job understand each step of the design process, giving them the ability to share
opinions on each step along the way. Prior to this development, each engineer in a company had
knowledge only on their specialty and could not offer input on any other process. This was largely
implemented in the 1980s. When this was used, companies had 100% improvement in quality
(Salustri, an Extremely Abbreviated History of Engineering Design ). Engineering used to be a small,
seemingly insignificant job. There were not many places and ways to successfully apply engineering,
and even in the times where actual engineering was done, the engineer may not have been properly
credited. There were people throughout history that accomplished things that would today be
categorized as engineering, but at the time, all the fields of engineering had not yet been discovered. A
good example of this is Dr. William Gorgas, who believed that mosquitoes were responsible for
infecting thousands of workers with malaria during the building of the

Logistics and Sieges of Alexander the Great Essays
Alexander the Great inherited one of the most powerful armies in the ancient world from his father
Philip. The army used a unique spear phalanx that was virtually unheard of outside of Macedonia, and
the army was well trained and supported. Additionally Philip felt the use of siege weaponry was of
great importance and invested in engineers to aid him. Philip even used siege weaponry on the field in
battle some times. Philip set the stage for his son to dominate the known world, and even gave him a
road map for conquering Asia minor, but an army and siege weapons are only a portion of an armies

Only enough carts and animals to carry the siege equipment, tents, rations, and other equipment
required by the army were used. All additional rations would have to have been carried via Alexander
s fleet. Memnon wanted to pursue a policy of scorched earth and then bring the war to Greece to
prevent Alexander from being able to wage war abroad, and if the other Persian generals had followed
his advice Alexander would have most likely had to return to Macedonia and never been able to
accomplish anything outside of Greece. Due to the Persian s vanity they decided to instead attack
Alexander directly without razing the countryside and were defeated leading to Alexander gaining the
foothold he needed in Asia. A likely scenario would put a seven day limit on the amount of rations the
army carried with it in a temperate climate and a two day limit in desert regions where the army could
not forage for additional food, water, and fodder. No matter how many pack animals an army used the
maximum amount of rations that could be carried would be twenty five days due to the feed required
by all of the animals. Another problem with adding additional animals to the supply train is the sheer
number of animals required to carry everything. Should the Macedonian army use enough animals to
carry the maximum twenty five day amount of rations the number of animals would have stretched

Monuments take a lot of planning to be done. An agency or group should consider these factors for

Tragic Events That Can Alter Life Style
How do people really cope with tragic events that can alter their life style? The loss of a loved one,
being laid off from work, serious sickness, terrorist attacks and many other horrific events are
examples of difficult experiences we could face in our lives. Many of which will respond quite
differently through each event they may encounter. This is to include strong emotions and at times
they will tend to feel uncertainty. However, over time people will typically overcome these life
changing events and stressful situations. What helps people to combat these circumstances? According
to Baumgardner and Crothers (2009), resilience is a process individuals go through to face tragedies,
trauma and stress in general. What if I told you it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Honesty In The Importance Of Being Earnest
Jarryd Donald Mrs. Mclawhorn English Literature 12 7 February 2017 The Importance of Being
Earnest Analysis In Oscar Wilde s novel The Importance of Being Earnest, Wilde s irreverence
towards the rules of the Victorian era, such as marriage, honesty, hypocrisy, and social class are
heavily touched on through a satirical manner. Wilde portrays Jack and Algernon as advocates of the
Victorian upper class who frequently participate in the art of Bunburying as a way to live another life
without the restrainments of their social status. According to Algernon he sees Jack as one of the most
advanced Bunburyists I know. (Wilde 6) further driving Wildes satirical message of honesty with the

Wasteland Motherhood
Motherhood is an extremely complicated process that every mother goes through when taking on the
choice to acquire a child. Based on the individual, this process can be one that is natural or extremely
difficult to execute. Within this process, there are new issues and mindsets that emerge in the threshold
of motherhood that creates intense struggles. In the texts Waste Land (Walker, 2010) by Lucy Walker
and Morning Song by Sylvia Plath the poet and director display these issues and mindsets within these
two different mediums that arise in the never ending process. These texts connect to one another by
demonstrating and including struggles of urges to provide, emotions of detachment, and improving
mindsets through the process of motherhood. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the article, Plaths Morning Song David Ketterer makes the statement about how Morning Song
expresses Plath s conflicted feelings at the birth of her first child... (242 243). These feelings are
implied adamantly throughout the poem and start off as feelings of detachment. The speaker of
Morning Song exclaims We stand around blankly as walls when describing her mental composure to
the audience. At this point the reader understands that the concept of motherhood is wildly new to the
speaker and she has no idea what to do or how to connect herself to the child. The speaker also depicts
the child as a new statue (line 4). This comparison is one that shows the audience that the mother sees
the child as something mystifying and not human. Consequently, if she cannot view the child as an
opposite of these characteristics, then she will fail to recognize her duties as a mother. And if she fails
to recognize this, she will also fail to create a stable connection and positive feeling towards her new
born child. However, these feelings of detachment later cease to exist towards the final two stanzas of
the poem, unlike the intense feelings displayed in Waste

Health And Drug Administration Of The Health Care Setting
Work Place Distractions Lead to Deadly Outcomes Effective Ways to Reduce Medication Errors in the
Health Care Setting Lincoln University Suzanne Norman Ybarra One of the greatest fears of any nurse
is harming or killing a patient by making a critical medication error. The U.S. Food and Drug
Administration reports that a person dies accidently every day from a medication error and
approximately 1.3 million sustain an injury from medication errors (U.S. Food and Drug

In an effort to reduce the occurrence of medication errors, JHACO has thoroughly investigated and
implemented new safety standards of care. JHACO implemented a new standard referred to as the 10
Rights of Drug Administration. 1. The Right Drug, 2. Right Patient, 3. Right Dose, 4. Right Route, 5.
Right Time and Frequency, 6. Right Documentation, 7. Right History and Assessment, 8. Drug
approach and Right to Refuse, 9. Right Drug to Drug Interaction and Evaluation, and 10. Right
Education and Information. Failure to follow the 10 Rights of Medication Administration can result in
a patient s injury or death (Potter, Perry, Hall, Stockert, 2013). Further research in safety has proven
that reviewing the physicians order three times significantly reduced transcribing errors or entering the
order incorrectly into the electronic medical record. Training new nurses and experienced nurses to
review every order three times has shown beneficial in patient safety and has reduced medication
errors. Nurses and medical staff involved in medication administration are encouraged to have a
buddy system, where there are two nurses or trained staff members who double check all medication
calculations and assist with verifying high risk medication dosages. When there is a discrepancy
concerning any medication administration, a Stop, Think and Call policy is implemented and the
medication is held until proper documentation and verification have been obtained.

Blurred Lines In J. C. Burke s The Story Of Tom Brennan
In life, the line that separates victims from perpetrators is as clear as a window pane, but in some
situations that window can crack, causing damage and danger. A victim is someone who has been
harmed, or worse, due to a crime or accident. A perpetrator is a person who has committed a crime,
either accidently or purposely. Three stories that capture this blurred line are Shattered, an Australian
Story episode on ABC s website, The Story of Tom Brennan, a story written by Australian author

theme of having a blurred line between victim and perpetrator.

This article develops a conceptual model to explain how culture impacts negotiation . It draws on
previous research on culture and on negotiation to develop an understandin g of how culture affects
negotiation processes and outcomes. The article begins with a review of fundamental concepts in the
literature on negotiation and culture. These concepts provide a language for what we know and what
we do not know about culture and negotiation and allow us to build a model of factors affecting inter
cultural negotiation process and outcome.
A MODEL OF INTER CULTURAL NEGOTIATION Negotiation
Negotiation is a form of social interaction. It is the process by which two or more parties try to resolve
perceived incompatibl e goals (Carnevale Pruitt, 1992). In order to understand the effect of culture on
negotiation, it is useful to have a mental model of negotiation. What is it that people mean when they
say they negotiate? What is involved in negotiating? What is a good outcome in negotiation? What
does it take to get a good outcome? What goes wrong in a negotiation that has a poor outcome?
However, if culture has an effect on negotiation, the mental models of negotiators from one culture
may not map on to the mental models of negotiators from another culture, making the speci® cation
of a single mental model problematic. There are two ways to approach this problem of specifying a

Persuasive Freedom Of Speech
Content generated by the media is vastly changing with time. Alongside, how the audience wishes to
view content is changing as well. In the earlier times, only televisions and radios were used to transfer
information. Nowadays, new platforms and websites are using different techniques to deliver content
to their respective audience. On Netflix Nobody Speak, by Brian Knappenberger is one of the many
information and knowledge packed documentary, that redefines the way viewers learn about the
different meanings of certain phrases. One of the ways is freedom of speech, which enables
individuals to express ideas and thoughts candidly. Different audience group will acknowledge
different purposes to freedom of speech. Even though civilians hold the right to freedom of speech, it
can also come with deadly consequences. The expression in the documentary holds a cruel and
degrading meaning, even so, other reasons such as the rights of privacy might outweigh the separate
statement. The case between Terry Bolea and Gawker refines how different audience ponders about
the meaning freedom of speech. Expressing how freedom of speech and technology was misused to
degrade one of the most renowned celebrities named Hulk Hogan, known initially as Terry Bolea.
Firstly, no kind of authority should obtain the power to interrogate or expose another person s private
life to the media. The quote, Freedom of information clashes with people s right to privacy on a
political government level, which is usually constrained, (Mass Communication in Canada, p.38),
states that freedom of speech is limited and should not break certain rules. Considering celebrities are
role models, that does not make them perfect human beings. Gawker.com a self opinionated website,
developed to publicize atrocious or embarrassing footage about contrastive celebrities; uses freedom
of speech as ammo to release footage that could potentially ruin a person s standard and career. From
the film, witnessing that Hulk Hogan s private life was in jeopardy by the power of freedom of speech
that Gawker.com perceives to hold. Fundamentally, freedom of speech considering a characteristic of
the public sphere, but it is limited to certain morals and guideline.

The Ban Of Medical Marijuana
Charlotte Figi, a six year old girl, had an untreatable form of epilepsy and used medical marijuana to
save her life. Her parents had tried almost every medication to try and save her by the time she was
two years old. Some nights she would get fifty seizures each night. Finally, her parents were able to
get her a medical marijuana card in Colorado, and the new medication immediately stopped the
seizures (Gummow, 8 Miraculous, para. 4, alternet.org). This is just one example of how unjust the
ban of medicinal marijuana is. The ban of medical marijuana is unjust because people who need the
medicine have been arrested and sent to prison for decades, the ban is based on outdated moral biases,
and although some may argue that marijuana is a gateway drug, people who wish to use medicinal
marijuana are using it to relieve specific symptoms that are not addressed by harder drugs. Charlotte s
epilepsy is not the only condition for which medical marijuana can be used. First, the website
ProCon.org states that medical marijuana is useful for sufferers of Alzheimer s Disease, anorexia,
AIDS, cancer, Crohn s Disease, and many others (For Which Symptoms, para. 1, procon.org). Studies
show that drugs, such as cocaine, and alcohol inhibit the growth of new brain cells. However, research

Viva La Vida Coldplay Meaning
If you had the choice to be a king, would you take it? The song Viva La Vida, by Coldplay, could

people who actually paid attention to the deeper meaning of the song learned something from it. There
are many interpretations of the song, but the real meaning is about the Roman Catholic Church and
King Louis XVI both having a lot of power, then losing it all. The bass guitarist, Guy Berryman, said
that the song is a story about a king who s lost his kingdom, and all the albums artwork is based on the

The Causes And Effects Of Food Eating And Dieting
Dieting has been a common practice for weight loss in the last few decades, truly gaining popularity in
the 1980s and 1990s (). This process of consumption restriction and food regulation is still used in
weight control for the obese and overweight, often in combination with a physical activity regiment.
However, many of the diets promoted have been under scrutiny for being detrimental to participant s
health and moreover, the practice itself may lead to the onset of other health challenges. Despite these
damning findings, the weight loss industry still uses many of these ineffective diets to treat obesity
and is still regarded as a powerful resource in obesity control. It is suspected that their influence may
be motivated by the industry s extensive profitability, rather than their capacity to combat the obesity
issue. As addressed by Alan Davidson in his Social Determinants of Health, A Comparative Approach
diets and food restrictions can lead to overeating and binging after limiting food consumption. Cyclic
dieting and binge eating can go beyond disordered eating behaviours and cause epigenetic changes
and shifts in the gut microbiotia, both of which can contribute to weight gain (Davidson, 2014).
Supplement Industry There are many causes for disordered eating, however, one source of irregular
food intake that requires examination is the fast paced nature of work in today s society. Many

The Seasons and What They Mean in Japanese Culture
In Noh there are many things that are significant, and that have deeper meanings. For instance the
simple way that they walk, sing, and move all mean something more. While doing the presentations
on a Noh play I noticed something beautiful about the play that I had chosen. Spring was mentioned a
lot, it had many cameos in the play. In Yuya the entire back story of the play is the discussions of
going to see the cherry blossoms. Spring in Japan means a whole lot more than just another season. It
means new life, and new beginnings, a way for family to come together and start anew. So while
taking this course I really picked up on the seasonal aspect of Noh whether it be spring, autumn,
summer, or winter. Each setting gave a new feeling of how people reacted, and it s true in real life
also. So in this essay I will be discussing all of the seasons and what they mean in Japanese culture,
with some symbolic things and Noh examples also. Spring also known as haru is the first of four
seasons in Japan, from March to May. The significance of the cherry blossom tree in Japanese culture
goes back hundreds of years. In their country, the cherry blossom represents the simplicity and the
beauty of life. It just shows that even though life is sometimes wonderful and beautiful, it can also be
very short and to always remember that we only have so long. When the cherry blossom trees bloom
for a short time each year, they show that very well since they are so beautiful but

Motifs In William Shakespeare s Othello
On November first, 1604, The Moor of Venice was performed for the first time in the Banqueting

later, Othello by William Shakespeare remains one of Bard s most prominent literary masterpieces.
The use of literary devices such as motifs in the play has led Othello to become one of the most
popular pieces of literature to this day. While some may think of these motifs simply as recurring ideas

In Othello, characters often refer to animals when describing other characters or themselves. The motif
of animals is primarily used in the play so that characters can emphasis their emotions about someone
or something. One character who exemplifies the motif of animals often is Iago. Iago frequently
describes others as Othello to make sure the reader is aware of his hatred for someone. At the
beginning of the play, Iago is talking to Brabantio, and describes Othello as an, Old black ram
(1.1.97). By deciding to refer to Othello as an animal, Iago reveals his utmost hatred for Othello early
on in the play. Iago s dialogue gives the reader a better understanding of him because it tells the reader
that Iago carefully chooses his words to achieve his desires. By doing so, Iago displays the fact that he
enjoys manipulating others through words, giving the reader some insight into what Iago s true
motives are. Another character that the reader can gain a better understanding of through the motif of
animals is Othello. Being a black, African man in a mostly white, European culture, Othello is already
an outsider, explaining why he is frequently described as an animal. Although Othello is not affected
by his differences at the beginning, they start to have more of an impact on him near the end of the
play, with him even going to the extreme by describing himself

Research Question: How does human activities cause rise in greenhouse gasses emissions?
Answer/Thesis: While there are many gasses that human activities emit directly into the atmosphere,
some major gasses which are causing harm in the atmosphere and resulting in the increased
greenhouse effect are:
Carbon dioxide: It is originated by burning of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas, though
deforestation is also a very significant contributor.
Methane: It is due to agriculture (especially livestock and rice fields), fossil fuel extraction and the
decay of organic waste in landfill sites.
Nitrous oxide: sources include agriculture (especially nitrogen fertilized soils and livestock waste) and
industrial processes.
Fluorinated gases: This gas is generated due to industrial processes.

The Crucible Essay
For centuries, humans have utilized defense mechanisms to explain the unfortunate occurrences of
humanity that we are incapable of conceiving through our narrow, defensive minds. Humans most
commonly scapegoat their enemies, or the entirely innocent, for their internal issues as a means of
coping for their insecurities or explaining the irrational or biased situations they find themselves in.
Similarly, others cope just as easily by lying to themselves, which can establish a false reality in the
mind of the self deceiver and, ultimately, leads to fallacies in logic. Coherently, Arthur Miller utilizes
his diverse cast of characters in his play write The Crucible to demonstrate the ease at which lying to
one s self can create false ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Elizabeth s passive aggression constitutes Danforth s denial, therefore demonstrating human
hypocrisy. Judge Danforth, a theocratic representative of God, similar to Proctor, recognizes he is at
fault for the fate of many innocent people. However, being a representative of God and giving arrested
so many, Danforth concludes that he cannot be wrong, despite his knowledge that the children are
lying, which unmistakably proves his denial. During Act III, in the courthouse, Danforth tells Proctor,
Indeed not, but it strike hard upon me that she would dare come here with such a tale. Now, Mr.
Proctor, before I decide whether I shall hear you or not, it is my duty to tell you this. We burn a hot
fire in here; it melts down all concealment (Miller 89). In addition to the quote being a metaphorical
reference to a literal crucible, which melts ores until they become pure and exposed metals, free of
impurities, Danforth s quote simultaneously suggests his inability to conceive the concept that the
children are fake, a truth revealed to him after his sentencing of many innocent people with no
evidence. Danforth, unable to decide between attempting to maintain his personal ethos or pardoning
those he knows are innocent, demonstrates his denial. However, Danforth, being well aware of his
mistake, is prevented by

Essay about European Imperialism
European imperialism during 1450 1750, began as a plan to gain more riches for the European
nations. The Europeans did this for three main reasons, which were for God, Gold, and Glory. The
Europeans domination over Latin America, Africa and Asia were made out to be good for the native
people of these lands. However, the Europeans were not there to help these geographic areas. They
were there to spread their influence and gain riches for themselves and the European nations. The
successes and failures of the Europeans and non Europeans would decide their relationship status for
as long as they could co exist.
In Latin America, Cortes who was the conqueror of Mexico, and Pizarro the conqueror of Peru and the
Incans, would control the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, the Latin Americans were auctioned off and forced into slavery. After taking the gold, ruling
over the people, and forcing them into slavery, the Spanish did nothing to help out the people of Latin
America.
European domination in Africa began because the Portuguese wanted to establish a faster route to
India. Yet, when the Portuguese arrived they began to set up a trade of gold, slaves and ivory. The
Europeans pretended to be Christian humanitarians and attempted to convert the Africans to
Christians. They used god to justify their mistreatment of the natives. Many of the natives did convert
to Christianity and accepted the Europeans mistreatments. The Europeans set up port cities on the
African coast in order to help their ships on their journey to India. At the port cities, they could stop,
rest, and replenish their supplies.
The Europeans would attempt to turn the different African tribes against each other and started many
tribal wars throughout Africa. When a tribe was conquered, the remaining members would be
transported back to Europe and the Americas in order to be sold into slavery, and their villages would
be raided for any potential riches the Europeans could sell or use. Creating these tribal wars gave the
Europeans money and also eliminated possible enemies from the land.
The Europeans tried to use the same methods they had

  • 2. Summary 2008 Financial Crisis The financial crisis began in early 2006 when the subprime mortgage market in the U.S. began to display an increasing rate of mortgage defaults. These defaults lead, in late 2006, to a decline in US housing prices after nearly a decade of exceptionally high growth. Many Americans watched as their primary source of wealth become increasingly devalued. By late 2007, the prime mortgage markets were showing higher than normal default rates as well. Collateralized Mortgage Obligations (CMOs), a type of collateralized debt obligations (CDOs), allowed these problems to spread from the mortgage market to other sectors of the economy, having especially widespread effects on financial markets as a whole. CMOs were mortgage backed securities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These liquidity problems turned to insolvency in September of 2008, when private lending froze completely in a number of important credit markets, such as commercial paper. As a result, non financial businesses were unable to get access to the financing they required to function normally, leading to problems in the real economy. The real economy began to exhibit problems related to the financial crisis as early as March 2006, when investment expenditure on residential structures began to decline. In early 2008, this decline spread to investment in business equipment and consumer spending on durable goods. It wasn t until the summer of 2008 that consumer spending broadly and GDP began falling, signs of a recession. The majority of refugees are now living in Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Egypt and Iraq. The current concern about the humanitarian crisis is whether the aid is reaching refugees or being diverted in ways that bolster a prolonged civil war. For this essay s purpose, aid is defined as aid and action designed to save lives, alleviate suffering and maintain and protect human dignity during and in the aftermath of man made crises and natural disasters, as well as to prevent and strengthen preparedness for the occurrence of such situations. Although the current aid set up is intended to cover all existing needs inside Syria, national and international aid is being highly controlled by the Bashar al Assad regime, and aid beyond the Damascus borders is extremely limited. Recently, there have been numerous reports issued by the Syrian government that opposition rebels are seizing international aid, and rebels responded with accusations of regime forces starving besieged towns. To be considered a professional engineer, a license is needed (Mraz, Changes in the Engineering Profession Over 80 Years ). Another evolution of engineering that occurred, was companies switching to a system called concurrent engineering. This is essentially just making sure that all of the employees for a certain job understand each step of the design process, giving them the ability to share opinions on each step along the way. Prior to this development, each engineer in a company had knowledge only on their specialty and could not offer input on any other process. This was largely implemented in the 1980s. When this was used, companies had 100% improvement in quality (Salustri, an Extremely Abbreviated History of Engineering Design ). Engineering used to be a small, seemingly insignificant job. There were not many places and ways to successfully apply engineering, and even in the times where actual engineering was done, the engineer may not have been properly credited. There were people throughout history that accomplished things that would today be categorized as engineering, but at the time, all the fields of engineering had not yet been discovered. These feelings are implied adamantly throughout the poem and start off as feelings of detachment. The speaker of Morning Song exclaims We stand around blankly as walls when describing her mental composure to the audience. At this point the reader understands that the concept of motherhood is wildly new to the speaker and she has no idea what to do or how to connect herself to the child. The speaker also depicts the child as a new statue (line 4). This comparison is one that shows the audience that the mother sees the child as something mystifying and not human. Consequently, if she cannot view the child as an opposite of these characteristics, then she will fail to recognize her duties as a mother. And if she fails to recognize this, she will also fail to create a stable connection and positive feeling towards her new born child. However, these feelings of detachment later cease to exist towards the final two stanzas of the poem, unlike the intense feelings displayed in Waste ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These concepts provide a language for what we know and what we do not know about culture and negotiation and allow us to build a model of factors affecting inter cultural negotiation process and outcome. A MODEL OF INTER CULTURAL NEGOTIATION Negotiation Negotiation is a form of social interaction. It is the process by which two or more parties try to resolve perceived incompatibl e goals (Carnevale Pruitt, 1992). In order to understand the effect of culture on negotiation, it is useful to have a mental model of negotiation. What is it that people mean when they say they negotiate? What is involved in negotiating? What is a good outcome in negotiation? What does it take to get a good outcome? What goes wrong in a negotiation that has a poor outcome? Her parents had tried almost every medication to try and save her by the time she was two years old. Some nights she would get fifty seizures each night. Finally, her parents were able to get her a medical marijuana card in Colorado, and the new medication immediately stopped the seizures (Gummow, 8 Miraculous, para. 4, alternet.org). This is just one example of how unjust the ban of medicinal marijuana is. The ban of medical marijuana is unjust because people who need the medicine have been arrested and sent to prison for decades, the ban is based on outdated moral biases, and although some may argue that marijuana is a gateway drug, people who wish to use medicinal marijuana are using it to relieve specific symptoms that are not addressed by harder drugs. Charlotte s epilepsy is not the only condition for which medical marijuana can be used. However, many of the diets promoted have been under scrutiny for being detrimental to participant s health and moreover, the practice itself may lead to the onset of other health challenges.
