This paper should not only be of interest to P2P designers, but also to engineers at upper and lower tier
ISPs, who are interested in acquiring a thorough understanding of
P2P overlays and tra±c. Because P2P ¯le sharing systems can generate vast quantities of tra±c,
networking engineers, who dimension the network and introduce content distribution devices such as
caches, need a basic understanding of how major P2P ¯le sharing systems operate. Although there has
been recent work in analyzing the ¯le sharing workload in KaZaA [8] and [18], to our knowledge we
are the ¯rst to undertake a comprehensive study of a hierarchical unstructured overlay for a P2P
system.
The paper focuses on the KaZaA overlay network and index management. It ad dresses neither KaZaA
s downloading protocol (for example, KaZaA s parallel down loading and request queuing) nor its
incentive scheme for encouraging uploading. The paper is complementary to [8] and [18], which focus
on KaZaA ¯le sharing tra±c. It is also complementary to a recent measurement study on pollution in
P2P ¯le sharing systems [19].
This paper is organized as follows. Section 2 provides an overview of KaZaA.

Section 3 describes are measurement apparatus. Section 4 presents our measurement results. Section 5
sets forth basic design principles for unstructured P2P ¯le sharing applications. Section 6 surveys
related work. Finally, Section 7 summarizes our ¯ndings and concludes.

Untitled Jedi Paper When George Lucas released Star Wars in 1977, it would be reasonable to assume
he possessed some level of expectations regarding how his film saga would affect and alter the lives of
its audience. What he may not have anticipated, however, is that his fictional protagonists, the Jedi
Order, and their respective philosophies would resonate so strongly within particular individuals to
such an extent that it would provide the foundation for the establishment of a new interpretation of
reality; this philosophical movement is perceived by many as a religious movement and, to some
extent, a new religion in and of itself. Today, the church of Jediism is said to have accumulated
thousands of followers across the globe and is recorded as being the seventh largest religion in the
United Kingdom (DailyMail). While there is speculation that the census results which produced these
figures may be inconclusive due to insincere responses, it is widely accepted that Jediism is a very real
concept for many groups of individuals, one that affects their philosophical outlook as well as their
everyday life. The church of Jediism is composed of many different groups who share similar
philosophies yet have slight variations in the articulations of their doctrines. The remainder of this

Transcendentalists in the 1830s challenged society s normality. They broke stereotypes and began not
depending their actions according to others. Director Peter Weir and Author Ralph Waldo Emerson
wrote about transcendentalist s ideals of education to rebel against commonly accepted behavior.

Throughout many years, military deployment has affected the family system. Especially young
children are effected by their parents shipping overseas since they are still are trying to figure out how
to cope without guidance during their development into adult years. In this particular study,
researchers examined adolescents between the ages of 12 18 to determine their thoughts about their
parents going into war. More specifically, researchers wanted to study the children s experiences with
ambiguous loss within their military families. Researchers hope to find ways in prevention and
intervention in order to reduce the feeling of uncertainty within adolescents. Sociologists determined
that the ambiguous loss theory provides explanation of the youth s responses from the study. If
children are uncertain of their parent s job entitlement then it helps with grieving, but may lead to
depression and effecting future relationship with others. When parental deployment occurs, family life
becomes a catastrophe since they are present for a short time. According to Boss, it is hard to set and
organize roles and responsibilities in a family setting when one or both supervisors are frequently
away. Another factor that was a part of the research was the Double ABC X framework, created by
