The practices of internal financial accountability that help prevent fraud or deficit spending includes,
one senior administrator knowing their spending limits. This is knowing their individual institution

A System Of Delete Unwanted Messages
A system to delete unwanted messages from osn use walls
abstract
One principal issue in today On line Social Networks (OSNs) is to give clients the capacity to control
the messages posted naturally private space to stay away from that undesirable substance is shown. Up
to now OSNs give little backing to this prerequisite. To fill the crevice, in this paper, we propose a
framework permitting OSN clients to have an immediate control on the messages posted on their
dividers. This is accomplished through an adaptable standard based framework, that permits clients to
tweak the sifting criteria to be connected to their dividers, and a Machine Learning based delicate
classifier consequently naming messages in backing of substance based separating. Record Terms On
line Social Networks, Information Filtering, Short Text Classification, Policy based Personalization

We accept that this is a key OSN administration that has not been given in this way. Surely, today
OSNs give almost no backing to avert undesirable messages on client dividers. Case in point, Face
book permits clients to state why should permitted supplement messages in their dividers (i.e.,
companions, companions of companions, or characterized gatherings of companions). Then again, no
substance based inclinations are bolstered and in this manner it is unrealistic to counteract undesired
messages, for example, political or obscene ones, regardless of the client who posts them. Giving

Freakonomics A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side...
Freakonomics A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything by Steven D. Levitt and
Stephen J. Dubner
Freakonomics brings together many combinations of thoughts that one wouldn t find relevant in
companionship. The two authors discuss comparisons that are so off the wall, that you almost question
reading the book; however, that is the reason many read the book in the first place. The authors Levitt
and Dubner compare in one chapter of Freakonomics the reason why drug dealers live with their
moms. Throughout this chapter, the authors discuss questions about why intelligent people sometimes
do not ask questions that people really care about, advertising and surveys, and why, in general, do
drug dealers still live with their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, I find that throughout this topic of discussion from Freakonomics, the author s use examples
that help clarify the reader s curiosity to why such a question should be asked in the first place, and
thus, setting the reader s mind to think about the following topics in the chapter.
The second point I aim to prove, is the author s use of advertising and examples of misused surveys to
prepare the reader for the chapter s topic. The evidence in this section is based on an example of Mitch
Snyder, who was an advocate for homeless people, a Listerine advertising campaign, and the Atlanta
Police Department s instantly cleaner image to prepare for the 1996 Olympic Games. All three of these
examples leave the reader feeling like they have just wasted 15 minutes reading something that does
not even pertain to the chapter s content.
Levitt and Dubner use Mitch Snyder s case as an example to show how surveys and statistics, when
given in error, provide the media with an informational field day. Snyder was an activist for homeless
people who testified before Congress about the enormous size of the current homeless rate.Their use of
this example is hard to understand, because sufficient evidence is not given to the reader as to why this
example is important. The section on advertising seems to take the reader away from the chapter s
context for a while, confuse them, and then land them back to

The Effects Of Americans On Indian Life
One cannot examine U.S. history without looking at the interactions between Native Americans and
Americans. From colonization to industrialization, conflicts between these groups have always been
prevalent. Indians have been stripped of their land, heritage and status. Our guns, germ and culture
have killed them. One can see this power struggle in many pieces of literature. Two being, Crazy
Horse: A Life , a secondary source focusing on a Sioux warrior Crazy Horse and the Plains peoples,
and Indian Trader John Lawson s Journal of Carolina 1709, a primary source that describes an English
merchant s encounter with Indians in Carolina. This paper will focus on the effects of Americans on
Indian life.
Crazy Horse: A Life is a secondary source of information that tells the story of Sioux leader Crazy
Horse and his tribe. As Whites invade their land for gold Crazy Horse has to find a way to keep his
home. Throughout the source, Larry McMurtry, with little evidence, draws up the rise and fall of Crazy
Horse. From early on it was evident of the whites were moving into the Plains peoples settlements, The
author wrote, ...at first the pressure of white intrusion may have been subtle but and slight but it was
present, and would be present throughout his entire life... the Sioux people and others way of life was
dying because of the settlements of white people on their land. Their settlements cause the game to
leave the area, which in turn hurt the hunters of the tribe. With these

Introduction
Over the past 200 years, there is an emergence and existence of the working class in Canada which has
initiated the capitalist infrastructure (comprising the wage earners and the entrepreneurs) in Canada and
also involving the struggles of the Canadian workers to claim their necessities and distress. Being the
most difficult parts of the twentieth century, there had been very few people who had not been affected
by the Great Depression. The working class in Canadian Society had been adversely affected during the
time of Second World War and had even faced the repercussions of the War. With ... Show more

She examines the consequences of these years for women in their homes and workplaces, and in the
dance halls and in the city court rooms. In her work, Katrina Srigley argues that young women were
central to the labour market and family economies of Depression era. In it she shows how factors such
as gender, race, class and marital status shaped women lives and influenced their job options, family
arrangements, and leisure activities. She talks about women who have been forgotten and whose life
experiences were left unstudied. She also highlights how women have learnt to compromise with the
joys and pains of their live.
Similarities and Differences between the books in relation to the experience of working class women in
Canada in the 1930 s.
As Chapter 1 of Katrina Srigley s Breadwinning Daughters addresses, Young working woman in a
depression, it shows how the young women of the working class in the Canadian society, have to
search for jobs in order to assist their families, and also the struggles that they have to go through to get
jobs and work according to it. At that time the scope for employment was scanty and the salaries of the
workers were too low for any family to survive with adequate means. The rate of unemployment at that
time has been 30% and the rate of unemployment for women has been much higher. Even though the
economy of Canada started suffering from the year 1929 to 1939, the situation became too critical in
1933 and reached its

Manufacturing Processes Research Report On The Production...
Manufacturing Processes Research Report
Introduction
In 2011 the US federal government spent approximately 6 billion dollars on research and development
in the field of Engineering (National Science Foundation, 2013). Through these technical revolutions
we are entering into an age of advanced manufacturing, where down times and complete turnaround
times have been shorted exponentially. One advancement, Hydro forming, has changed the way many
products are produced and manufactured in the past 3 decades. It is a die forming operation, used
primarily for creating complex parts without the expensive cost of tooling, and die making. Tubular
Hydroforming will be the focus of this report as it is a key process in the production of a Bicycle ...

Advantages/ Disadvantages of Tubular Hydroforming
The advantages of hydroforming highly out way other forms of manufacturing processes across the
board. One of the largest factors that puts hydroforming ahead of the other manufacturing processes is
sheer cost of tooling.
Due to the fact that you only need the negative mold tool of the product that you are making, your cost
drops significantly. Furthermore unlike conventional tooling processes because the manufacturing
requires no cutting or further machining after the part have been made. You can reduce the amount of
machinery that you need to correct any imperfections.
Also when hydroforming products you are able to deliver an equal amount pressure over the surface
that is required giving a uniform thickness to the part you are making. That reduces costs of material as
well as the ability to guarantee that the part you are making is to the desired thickness, keeping waste
down and rejected parts down to a minimum.
When creating a bike frame, it helps the strength to make all the structural areas with the most surface
area possible. As well, materials need to be reduced to cut down cost, which is mitigated when hydro
forming because it is a highly calculated operation where the materials are specifically chosen to
maximize the potential. Hydroforming uses the same material and can also do high detail items within
the product

Hearing The Sweetest Songs Summary
The article Hearing the Sweetest Songs is very insightful. There are many events that take place,
however I will try to focus the events that try to get the author Nicolette Toussaint to accept that she is
disabled. The author is living with a hearing impairment that occurred when she was a baby. Nicolette
learned from her parents how she lost her hearing from getting pneumonia. She realizes that she can
not hear when she gets a hearing aid at thirty years old. The hearing aid took away her peace. The
hearing aid made her be able to hear every noise around her and it usually startled her. Nicolette s
coworkers thought she was rude at meetings because she would answer the wrong questions. Her
coworkers thought she was daydreaming and they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though Nicolette tries to remain strong and continue to not label herself disabled, however there
are times she can not help but admit she has a hearing problem. Nicolette states, When I lived alone, I
felt helpless because I couldn t hear alarm clocks, vulnerable because I couldn t hear the front door
open and frightened because I wouldn t hear a burglar until it was too late. She did not want to be
labeled disabled because she was more than just a person with a hearing problem. Another quote that
displayed self doubt is when Nicolette explains, For the first time, I felt unequal, disadvantaged and
disabled[...] I knew that I had lost something: not just my hearing, but my independence and my sense
of wholeness. In addition, Nicolette also struggles with her identity. Not hearing should not change
how people perceive you. nicolette states, If I tell people may see only my disability. Once someone is
labeled deaf, crippled, mute or aged, that s too often all they are. Im a writer, a painter, a slapdash
housekeeper, a gardener who grows wondrous roses; my hearing is just part of my whole. Nicolette
wants to be treated like any other person without a hearing

The Effect Of Hieroglyphics On The Rosetta Stone
Arguably one of the most important discoveries made regarding the historical and cultural study of
ancient Egypt is the translation of the writing form known as hieroglyphics. This language, lost for
thousands of years, formed a tantalizing challenge to a young Jean François who committed his life to
its translation. Scholars such as Sylvestre de Sacy had attempted to translate the Rosetta Stone before
Champollion, but after painstaking and unfruitful work, they abandoned it (Giblin 32). Champollion s
breakthrough with hieroglyphics on the Rosetta Stone opened up new possibilities to study and
understand ancient Egypt like never before, and modern Egyptology was born.
The Rosetta Stone was found in the town of Rosetta and sent to French ... Show more content on

Although he was able to find them, he was not able to decipher an alphabetical system that applied to
the rest of the text. It seemed that the other symbols represented things, not letters. Having reached a
dead end in his work, he gave up, saying, The problem is too complicated, scientifically insoluble
(Giblin 32). A few others continued after him with the same idea of a solely alphabetical system, but
they all came to the same dead end and were not able to make any progress.
One of the first scholars to make any real headway on the translation was Thomas Young, a British
polymath (Silet 1). Being a polymath and not understanding any of the language to begin with, Young
meticulously inspected the stone, looking for recurring patterns and recording the number of times each
symbol was repeated (Meyerson 123). Young knew that Ptolemys were Greek, so he assumed that the
name Ptolemaios, spelled in the Greek style, would appear spelled the same way in the hieroglyphic
section. Indeed he did find several times the cartouche containing what he believed to spell Ptolemaios
(Giblet 40). He misunderstood a few of the symbols meanings, and it was later discovered that the
Egyptian spelling was Ptolmis, but Young had taken the first major steps into translating the
hieroglyphics (Giblet 41).
The next step, and arguably the whole rest of the project, was

Cooper Industries Case Analysis Essay
Cooper Industries Corporate Strategy
Case Analysis
Company Vision
The vision of Cooper Industries, as stated in the case, was to do an outstanding job at the unglamorous
part by making necessary products of exceptional quality. The goal was to operate in industries that had
become somewhat of a necessity for consumers. Examples of such industries include: power
transmission, hand tools, drilling and others. Cooper industries had started in 1833, as an iron foundry,
and had existed most of its 150 years as a small sized maker of engines and compressors. However, all
this changed in the 1960s, when the management decided to expand the company to lessen its

Cooper also divested many less profitable businesses over an eighteen year period from 1970 to 1988.
The benefit added by the Cooper conglomerate to its business units justifies the costs associated with a
corporate / centralized control. Furthermore, Cooper s corporate management effectively managed and
invested in the best opportunities for growth with little political bias.
Production
In order to achieve its goals clear guidelines were set that specified the degree and timing of
acquisitions focusing only on companies that exhibited stable earnings or earnings countercyclical to
the gas transmission industry. Cooper focused on acquisition targets that possessed strong assets with
high quality manufacturing and market leading positions. Cooper continued to refine this acquisition
model seeking companies with stable earnings using well known technologies that served a broad
customer base. Furthermore, Cooper focused on firms with high quality products and recognized brand
names.
In addition to acquisitions, Cooper brought significant systematic value to its businesses. Examples of
these contributions include, but are not limited to:
Finance
* the flow of financial resources to the individual businesses; * unity of purpose and focus under a
common corporate strategy (further supporting the firm s strategy as it relates to acquisitions and
divestitures); * FMV

President Roosevelt s New Deal shaped the economic growth in the country.
The tenth question regarding President John F. Kennedy s Camelot was also fascinating. His inaugural

asking for permanent funding for the agency, which would send trained American men and women to
foreign nations to assist in development efforts. The Peace Corps captured the imagination of the U.S.
public, and during the week after its creation thousands of letters poured into Washington from young
Americans hoping to volunteer.
Under the Kennedy s administration the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 led to tariff cuts averaging 35

Two of these individuals were James Gross and Mesut Güneş. They initially produced a package
labelled NS. This was followed by NS2 then by NS3, each version an improvement on the package
before. These were virtual applications where the designers sought to model networks in a manner that
best suited available network research, and the authors collective experiences. These packages were
capable of designing a network, and some terminology and components used are common to all
discrete event simulation systems. Unfortunately, there is no standardised set of terms and the naming
can vary in literature making the packages not entirely user friendly; ( the NS3 for example uses
programing labelled C++ and the main networking commands were known by only a few IT
specialists). Packet Tracer Software and Activities The requirement for a user friendly package was met
by the Cisco Lab. The Cisco Packet Tracer is a self paced, visual, interactive teaching and learning tool

Vampire Subcultures
There are many subcultures in the United States that are strange to me that some people think are
completely normal. A subculture is a cultural group within a larger culture that has the same interests,
beliefs, behaviors, or religion. Subcultures varies from things like southern food culture, to things like
bodybuilding. The strangest subcultures to me are the vampires, and the bronies. There were some
more in mind, but these are the two that stood out the most to me.
Strangely enough, vampires are already in people s imagination. Now they have a cultural group just
for their imagination. I m not trying to seem disrespectful to the vampire subculture, but it s honestly
strange that they think they are real vampires. This lifestyle formed in the western culture, stemming
from horror films, and overall styles of Victorian England. The vampire subculture is just like any other
system of beliefs. They commit themselves to this lifestyle and participate in rituals.
Continually, vampires dress themselves in gothic clothing with dark eye shadow, and black nail polish.
In this vampire lifestyle, you will find blood donors who are people who allow the vampires to drink
their actual blood. The donors are hard to find, but they are subservient to the vampires. There are
different types of vampires within the vampire subculture. They have the sanguinarians, the psychic
vampires, the living vampires, and the transcendental vampires. The sanguinarians who look at

Criminal Justice System In England
This essay will argue that the Criminal Justice System (CJS) in England and Wales doesn t provide
justice for all. In particular, the institutionally racist nature of the police and courts towards Black,
Asian and minority ethnic groups (BAME) will be addressed. The Lammy Review has been
instrumental in outlining the disproportionate representation of BAME groups within the CJS. In a
letter addressed to the Prime minister, David Lammy reports the findings from his review. 51% of UK
born individuals from BAME backgrounds believe that the CJS discriminates against certain groups

However, post PACE there have still been injustices. In 1990, the Cardiff Three were wrongly
convicted of the murder of a prostitute. During police interviewing of the men, the police deployed
barbaric interrogation techniques, petrifying the men into signing false confessions (Belloni and

imprisoned them. However, two years later in 1992, the scandalous nature of the police investigation
was exposed and the men were released (Campbell, 2013). The court s decision to quash the sentence
exposed the misconduct and institutional racism present in the police. The Cardiff Three is an example
of the police fabricating confessional evidence, through the torment and torture of the men. All three
men were from BAME backgrounds and had consequently been framed for a crime they didn t commit.
Such incidents suggest a discriminatory and racist culture that still exists within the police and court
institutions today, and hence, the task of the CJS in England and Wales providing justice for all is

In December of 1919 Babe was sold to the New York Yankees. Prior to Ruth s arrival in New York, the
team had never won a pennant. With quot; The Babe quot; as part of their team they became a dominant

1933. In 1921, the couple adopted a baby girl, Dorothy.
On January 11, 1929, at the age of 31, Helen died of suffocation in a fire. Dorothy, who was eight at the

Babe met and became seriously interested in a young widow, Claire Hodgson. Claire had come to New

Taming Of The Shrew Essay
The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare might appeal to Kalidasa because this play can be
used to show the Hindu puranas and respect toward the deities. Kalidasa s name means the servant of
Kali which can suggest he is a follower of the deity Durga, who evolves in the form of Kali to destroy
the demons. In the Taming of the Shrew, Katherine can represent the deity Durga/ Kali to reveal the
two side of a female character. According to Hinduism, goddess Durga is the main force behind
creation, preservation and destruction; similarly, a female like Katherine can very destructive by
punishing her sister and being rude to her father. However, that same women, Katherine, can create a
beautiful family bond and preserve the relationship with the force of love and affection. Furthermore,
this play can be used to teach lessons toward the Indian society to treat women with respect and not

On hand, this play can be used to improve the treatment of women, on the other hand it can be used to
reinforce the gender role separation. For example, throughout the play Katherine was compared with
wild animals, who need to be domesticated as Petruchio says I am he am born to tame you Kate, and
bring you from a wild Kate to a Kate Conformable as other household Kates. Based on this quote,
Petruchio compares Katherine to a wild cat who is out of control and need to be taught the boundary of
life. This particular section can send a role division message that women born to be submissive and
they need to be tamed if they do not fit the prescribed societal role. Kalidasa lived around 5th century,
when women were not treated equally, this play can catch audience s attention as a way to reinforce

Hinduism As A Family Of Beliefs
Dissimilar to Christianity, Hinduism is portrayed as a family of beliefs. Hinduism unites the worship of
many gods with a belief in a single divine reality (Molloy, 75). Hinduism can be compared to that of
the Ganga Ma, a significant river in the Indian culture. Comparing it with the river saying that it flows
and gains momentum. The Hindus have four very important life goals; kama or pleasure, artha or
economic security, dharma or social and religious duty, and moksha or complete freedom. While
Hinduism consist of more than one god, individuals tend to focus on a particular god. Three gods are
particularly central in the life of Hinduism. The three gods, Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, represent
creation, preservation, and destruction. (Molloy, 75). Brahma is the god of creation. In today s world,
he is the least worshipped god in India. There are only two temples in all of India dedicated to him
(Brahma). Brahma has a unique look, with four heads and four arms. The second god, Vishnu, is the
god of preservation. Thus far in creation, he has been said to be incarnated nine times. Worshippers
believe that he will incarnate one last time near the end of the world. Similarly, to what Paul thought of
Jesus, Like any major god, Vishnu is involved in a number of colorful stories which illustrate his
virtues as the protector of cosmic order (Vishnu). Vishnu is uniquely depicted by having blue skin, and
four arms. In his four hands, he holds objects representing what he is dependable for. Shiva, the last
god, is the god of destruction. In Hinduism, destruction is considered necessary for new life forms to
appear. Shiva is portrayed by his blue face and white body, three eyes, and four arms. Christianity and
Hinduism each have their own form of practices and rituals. Christians have rituals that are called
sacraments. There are seven sacraments throughout life that a Christian can devote themselves to.
Baptism is the ritual cleansing with water, which is an ancient form of purification, which traditionally
happens shortly after birth. Eucharist is the next sacrament which represents Lord s Supper. The
Eucharist represents the body and blood of Jesus. Confirmation is the blessing of believers after
baptism in the

From Outrage By Anne Murray Summary
Anne Murray states that, Women s health is so much more than medical issues; it is cultural, political,
economic, and above all, an issue of social justice (From Outrage to Courage, 2008, p.1). Women s
health is an issue of social justice in a sense that fairness and equality should be primordial in the health
care system. Social justice aims to support the wellbeing of all individuals regardless of differences.
Unfortunately, little has been done to promote and improve women s health. An analysis of social and
economic circumstances that affect women s health in development reveals that: inequality in health

One of the points mentioned by Anne Murray is how women s health s has been ignored and neglected.
This is a true case. Going back to the olden days and basing my analysis on women as healers, Witches,
Midwives, and Nurses by English and Ehrenreich tells us women s story as health workers and
denounce the history of suppression. Women have always been healers. Even though they were not
licensed with medical degrees, women were nurses and pharmacists. Today, however, the health care
system is a male dominated industry. Because it has become the property of male professionals, many
issues are affecting women and their children. For instance, according to Murray, female infants and
children s access to food and/ or medical care has been neglected because researchers either view the
household as a single entity with uniform internal distribution or treat newborns as a sex neutral
category. This demonstrates that little attention; research and financial support are given to expand the
wellbeing of women and their children. The lack of participation of women in planning and
implementing health care policies and politics has failed to take women s health

Electron Element
The electron arrangement of an atom represents the particular orbitals in which are occupied by
electrons in an atom. The relationship between the electron arrangement of elements and their position
in the periodic table rely on an element s period, in which corresponds to the element s highest
occupied energy level. This is due to periodic properties, this basically means that the elements
properties are predictable based on their position within the periodic table. The periodic table is a result
of the periodic law, this law was based upon observations made on the elements recurring properties
and which elements have similar properties. The theorem in which explains this law is the quantum
mechanical theory.

of a molecule is the energy required to remove one mole of electrons from one mole of isolated gaseous
atoms or ions. . Electronegativity is a measure of the tendency of an atom to attract a bonding pair of
electrons. The physical properties include color, melting point, and freezing point. These properties all
relates to electron configuration due to the element s valence shells. For example, noble gasses tend to
be stable because the valence shell is full, and halogens tend to react quickly because one electron is
absent meaning they can t have a full valence octet. Metals are found on the left hand side of the
periodic table, they are good conductors, have a high melting point, and a large atomic radius.
Nonmetals are located on the right hand side of the periodic table; they have high ionization energy and

Exchange Rate In Canada
The US and Canada share more than just a border. Professional athletes from both countries can often
be found on the other s professional football, basketball, baseball and hockey teams. For instance,
currently there are 6 teams in Canada that are currently part of US professional sports leagues. By the
year 2035 it is predicted that there could be up to 11 new teams formed(Campbell). This is beneficial to
both the US and Canada s economy because professional sports are typically profitable and draw a lot
of money. Because the teams host and employ both Americans and Canadians, some issues arise
regarding currencies. Every country in the world has a form of legal payment which is called currency.

23% of the teams in the NHL are Canadian and these teams generate 35% of the league s revenue.
When Canadian teams cannot produce enough revenue, the entire NHL league is affected. Baseball is
no different. For example, the Toronto Blue Jays generate an extra $600,000 for every cent the
exchange rate goes up (Exchange). In the future. the exchange rate between Canada and the US is
predicted to help the Canadian sports teams. Experts can predict with accuracy how exchange rates will
change up to two years in advance(Campbell). This allows sports teams to plan for the gap between
American dollar salaries and Canadian dollar revenues. When the exchange rate is in favor of the
Canadian dollar, more money is available to teams. This allows them to spend more on player salaries,
possibly making their teams better without having to worry as much about revenue. For teams who are
very successful in recent years, such as the Toronto Blue Jays, the exchange rate becomes less of an
issue. Even though they chose to spend more money on player salaries, the team has performed so well
that the fan loyalty and interest has gone up enough to cover the costs. The exchange rate can also
impact teams negatively. One example is the Winnipeg Jets. They eventually had to relocate to Arizona
because they could not create enough revenue selling in Canadian dollars. The Vancouver Canucks
faced a similar problem in 2002. They played their players a total of $62 million US which exchanges
to $81 Canadian. This left the team with $19 million Canadian dollars to be made up through other
ways. The NHL is the 99th most profitable business in Canada (Maich) and therefore is highly
impacted by the exchange rate. Canadian sports teams will have to make a choice between paying their
players less money or pay them more but find new ways to bring in money in order

Analysis Of Rick Blain And His Internal Conflict
Analysis of Rick Blain and His Internal Conflict From the audience s perspective, Casablanca (Michael
Curtiz, 1942) is a romantic drama. The scene where Rick Blaine, the lead male, is at the bar after
seeing Ilsa Lund, his former lover, is the most dramatic moment in the film. The audience first sees
Rick alone at the bar drinking. Sam walks in the bar and has a powerful conversation with Rick. The
moment that these two characters share is dramatic because the audience is getting to see a side of Rick
that hasn t been seen yet. The audience is used to seeing Rick as the perfect man. After he sees Ilsa, he
breaks down, which is indicated by his heavy drinking, showing that he has a weakness. The
cinematography helps show the dynamic change in Rick. The shot distance allows the audience to see
Rick s facial expressions. Although Rick is seen as strong and independent, when he is reunited with
Ilsa, he is drawn into a darkness that he is struggling with in the scene; it is easy to see the struggle of
man vs. himself and the concept of masculinity. In this scene we see Rick in a vulnerable state after
having seen Ilsa for the first time in a year. The camera shot is varied from close ups to medium long
shots. When a close up is used the audience can see the emotions on Rick s face more clearly. He is
burdened with memories of the past. This breaks with the idea of masculinity because the audience can
clearly see that Rick is in distress. Men are burdened with social norms that

The Pathology Of A Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Essay
Seth Kahn s (2011), article entitled, Putting Ethnographic Writing in Context, identifies ethnography as
the study of relationships, rituals, values, and habits that make people understand themselves as
members of a group. Ethnographers adopt a stance of observation, as well as participation to better
understand the discourse among members within a particular group, or discourse community (Khan,
2011). This ethnographic research will connect what community members know and do, with what
they say and how they say it (Devitt, Bawarshi, Reiff, 2003). The purpose of this study is to explore
how nurses, working in a cardiac catheterization laboratory, learn the local knowledge necessary to
communicate with a multidisciplinary discourse community successfully. To protect the identity of
participants in this study, the name of the laboratory included in the study will be identified as the XYZ
Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Cardiovascular diseases have long been the leading cause of death
in the United States (Narang et al., 2016). Research predicts the progression of cardiovascular disease
will affect forty percent of our population by the year, 2030 (Narang et al., 2016). Furthermore,
research shows that the cardiovascular workforce is inadequate to meet the rising demands of this
patient population (Narang et al., 2016). In particular, a subset of cardiac nurses, a cardiac
catheterization laboratory nurse is a key member of this cardiovascular workforce.

A. A naturalistic observation is a form of research that takes place in the participant s own environment.
This could be the participant s workplace or a child s home. Another form of observation that was also

are being observed. Covert methods in general has always been contentious, on the basis that you can

The Passions Of The Man
The Passions of the Man We exist in an artificial world created from our passions. Uncontrollable as
they may seem, our natural inclinations and mental faculties have actually effected immense social
change on both a physical and mental level. As oxymoronic as it may seem, it is ultimately our innate
passions that both drive conflict and allow for cooperative endeavor, and Thomas Hobbes s masterful
17th century work Leviathan captures this point beautifully. His passions are a kind of internal motion
related to one s will and encompass character traits, moods, or ephemeral states of being such as
sudden glory causing laughter. Hobbes uses the idea of passions as a motivating source to flush out a
future directed approach to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, we live in the natural world. Far from perfect. Our passions do not even come close to
fitting us in the perfect world. In fact, they prevent its existence. The nature of man then is one of
passions and thusly, one of war. According to Hobbes, the nature of war consisteth not in actual
fighting, but in the known disposition thereto during all the time there is no assurance to the contrary.
(13) War is not a state of fighting, it is a state of being; specifically a state of being in which safety and
protection of one s life or happiness are close to non existent. Coupled with the very real ideas of
exhaustible resources and the will to survive, this war or natural world is then populated by beasts
unreasoned beings dominated by their psyches and unable to coexist in a society. Hobbes concluded
that in the nature of man, we find three principal causes of quarrel. First, competition; secondly,
diffidence; thirdly, glory. () These three passions are at once dangerous to the natural world, but
necessary for the artificial world to exist. The competition to which Hobbes speaks is a competition for
power. In his observations, it is the powerful that are happy and can assure their continued felicity.
Thus, competition begets violence. Diffidence implies the defense of oneself and your well being in
fear of it being stripped of you. Diffidence seems to beget violence as well. And glory begets the most
violence. The thirst for power becomes too

European Influence in Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe
Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe, presents the result of colonization of the Ibo people by the
European missionaries. The Ibo culture is threatened to change by the European influence. Villagers are
divided between resisting a new lifestyle or embracing it for better opportunities in society. The
struggle to keep Ibo traditions alive is reflected in Okonkwo and Obierika s relationship to one another.
Okonkwo represents the resistance of change by keeping traditional values in high regard while,
Obierika signifies the openness to opportunity by questioning the current Ibo values. The arrival of
European missionaries persuades the exchange of traditional Ibo methods, customs, and community for
Christianity, resulting in the community to fall apart. Before the arrival of European influence, villagers
of Umuofia had a single option for a way of life. It was a place to be feared, dominated by war and
violent practices. Ibo culture is centered on a patriarchal system based on hierarchy; the highest titles
held by male egwugwu in the legal system and the osu at the bottom. The main character, Okonkwo,
represents the ambition to strive for a higher position in society in order to gain status: His life had
been ruled by a great passion to become one of the lords of the clan (131). Another aspect in Ibo culture

fact is that he was used as a decoy in the lead up to D Day. General Dwight Eisenhower thought Patton

Many of the earth?s water supplies would be in danger because of incursions of seawater, and the
effects of incurring seawater could be fatal for many species (129). . If one species goes extinct then in
the long run humans suffer. Basic food pyramid principles can be applied to conclude the effects of
species extinction.
When the polar ice caps melt more water is added to the atmosphere. One finding suggests that the
ocean water is less salty then it was under the ice twenty years earlier this would tend to confirm that
the melting and shrinking of the ice caps has already taken place (Barker 43). In general more rain
would occur causing a more humid climate. Heavy rains would cause mudslides like they did in
California last summer killing many people (Cook 58). The rains in California were torrential and the
worst the state has seen in many years (Hayden 13). If the ocean rises that much then the saltwater
incursions would eliminate much of the fresh water in the world. Moisture fuels many of the worst
storms in the world. If the ice caps melt obviously much more water will be added to the atmosphere.
Hurricanes, floods, tsunamis, typhoons, cyclones, and monsoons, are a few of the most dangerous
storms fueled by heat and water. Most people know the catastrophes that all of these storms have
created throughout the years. Recently the worst cyclone in 25 years hit India killing more than 400
people and in Africa unusually strong rains

Essay On Air Awareness
Currently there is a large amount of research based on the use of the system and its benefits, although
there is nothing in current research that shows the saturation of awareness in the aviation community.
Some of the current research highlights the great benefits of the system, including the mass gathering
of data to identify specific problems within the safety sector. Such as Cardosi, Falzarano, Han (2008)
research based on ASRS reports, where they analyzed 386 reports from the program database and
gathered data which yielded a lot of results on the contributing factors of pilot controller
communication errors. The data they gathered was directly based of the ASRS self reports submitted
both by pilots and Air Traffic Controllers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By providing the users with its benefits of confidentiality and partial immunity, it draws people in to
report the problems that will be used for future identifications and research. Several researchers have
already used the data provided by the system to create further safety information within the aviation
field, although the amount of data the gathered was rather limited and needed a further boost, which the
ASRS system can provide if the majority of personnel are aware of its existence. Furthermore, a
majority of the research literature so far has all been based on the data that the ASRS has stored, but
almost no research has been done on the ASRS awareness within the aviation community. If the proper
research is done on the ASRS and the knowledge of it of the aviation sector, the field would view a
greatly increased input of data and create a truly preventative system that create an overall safer
environment. The current state of awareness of the ASRS system within the aviation community is
severely inconspicuous and under used. Through the proposed research, additional data will be
collected to clearly identify a percentage of people that are aware of the ASRS program and know how
to utilize it.
The proposed hypothesis of this research project is that the ASRS reporting system has a large gap in
the awareness and identification of the current system. To identify

The Separation Of Powers In The United States
History has time and again shown that unlimited power in the hands of one person or group in most
cases means that others are suppressed or their powers restricted. The separation of powers in a
democracy is a necessity to prevent abuse of power and to safeguard freedom for all. In order to
prevent the abuse of powers, the power of the government should not be left entirely to one body or
person; instead it should be separated or divided in some way. The United States government is divided
into three specific branches the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. The constitution s
reasoning to divide it up and give each branch different powers is to be able to form a system of checks
and balances.
The term trias politica or separation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Three separate branches share the powers of the United States government. Each branch has both
expressed powers, those specifically listed in the Constitution, and implied powers, those reasonably
suggested by its expressed powers such as how they did not imbue the Supreme Court with the power
to declare acts of Congress unconstitutional, but the court simply assumed that role because it was
obviously necessary (McKnight). In general, the legislative branch makes the nation s laws, the
executive branch enforces the laws, and the judicial branch interprets the laws if questions arise. A
system of checks and balances makes sure that each branch acts only within its constitutional limits.
Each branch has some powers that curb, or check, those of the other two. This prevents any single
government group or official from becoming too powerful. For example, the president is the head of
the executive branch. The president is the commander in chief of the army and navy of the United
States, but only congress has the authority to raise and support an army, and to declare war. Congress
also has the authority to enact laws but it can be checked by an executive veto. One branch of
government must not exercise the power of another, for instance, executive should not legislate
(Barnett 4). The separation of powers is also reflected in the fact that certain functions must not be
exercised by one and the same person. Meaning, the Federal President cannot be a Member of the
National Council at the same time, or a judge who is appointed Minister or elected to be a Member of
the National Council must be temporarily suspended from his/her judicial

Edith Grotberg Theory Of Resilience
The American Psychological Association (APA) defines resilience as the ability to adapt well to
adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or even significant sources of stress (APA 2011). According to Edith
Grotberg, a developmental psychologist, Resilience is important because it is the human capacity to
face, overcome and be strengthened by or even transformed by the adversities of life (1995). Resilience
is the ability to remain positive in the face of adversity, which is not the same as not having distress or
denying it (Music, 2011). Developing this capacity relies on protective factors within individuals as
well as in the family and community. Research has emphasized the importance of early childhood as a

Ellen Wefler s Ascending Angel
Sara is a special little girl. At only 9 years old, she s mature beyond her years. More than that, she has
abilities that even she isn t quite aware of. These abilities put her in danger. The archangel Gabriel
knows she must be protected. He, therefore, assigns her a protector; a young boy named Seth.
However, Seth is more than he appears to be as well.
Ascending Angel is a fantasy written by Ellen Wefler. This book is an interesting twist on the classic
theme of good versus evil. It includes dark angels or dangels as they are nicknamed. It also includes
archangels and guardian angels.
Unfortunately, I feel that the way Ms. Wefler addresses this theme and iconic beings may be off putting
to many readers. Thus, this is the first issue that I feel needs attention. Everyone has their own views on
angels, demons, and religion. The author clearly voices her opinions in this story. In the book, one of
the archangels makes it perfectly clear that someone who commits suicide will go to hell. While I know
that there are those out there that hold this opinion, I also know that there are those that this will greatly
offend. The archangels also appear to make decisions and act on their own without consulting the god
that is clearly mentioned in the story. I would suggest those that have clear views on these issues or
religion in general might want to avoid reading Ascending Angel. ... Show more content on

First, the author needs to include some warning before the chapters where time has passed. One chapter
in the book is obviously a flashback. We then continue on in the present. Suddenly, years have passed.
Regrettably, we really don t know how many or what exactly happened. Furthermore, there is a chapter
devoted to a damned soul. This damned soul is on a mission from Nathan, Lucifer s right hand dangel.
He is to find someone. Sadly, I have no idea who he is supposed to find, and he is not mentioned again

The Importance Of Body System Communication In The Human Body
Human body system communication is highly important for us to function properly. All the systems in
the human body are essential to our survival and good health. If you take away the purpose of just one
of these body systems our whole body will not work thoroughly. Nervous system, endocrine
respiratory, circulatory, immune, digestive, excretory, skeletal, muscular, and the reproductive systems
are all examples of different system in the human body. They all work jointly for us to move, dance,
eat, and think like we do. One of the most important system is the skeletal system. It support our body,
protects, and helps us with movement, storage of minerals and blood cell production. The skeleton also
protects the internal organs from any harm and damage, allows movement by providing a structure for
the muscles to attach to and stores bone marrow, which is used to produce red and white blood cells. A
good example would be the brain, which is inside the skull, and is protected by the skull from any
trauma to the head. Also the heart, lungs, liver and other internal organs that are caged in the rib cage
and protected from trauma by the ribs. The vertebrate/spine hold the body straight, allowing us to have
motions such as taking notes in class.
The skeletal incorporates all of the bones and joints in the entire body. According to Inner Body, each
bone is a complicated living organ that is made up of countless cells, protein fibers, and minerals
(Taylor, undated). As the skeleton

When It Comes To The Fourth Amendment And Searching A...
When it comes to the Fourth Amendment and searching a person s car or their person, there are a few
factors to take into consideration. In order for an officer to search an individual s car, they must have
consent, otherwise the search is unreasonable and whatever evidence seized could be inadmissible in
the court of law. However, it is possible to conduct a search without consent and seize evidence without
a warrant but there ought to be probable cause or reasonable suspicion. The two differ in the sense that
reasonable suspicion is based off past experiences and expertise. Probable cause is needed for a search
to take place; conversely if there is no probable cause but an officer has enough reasonable suspicion,
they still are allowed to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, in Minnesota v. Dickerson (1993), if an officer can readily identify an object from a
pat down, they can use their discretion and experience and retrieve it if they know it to be true. If they
are unsure and take it, whatever was seized is inadmissible in court. In legal terms, this is known as the
plain feel doctrine. This allows a police officer to seize objects during a legitimate pat down search if
by plain feel he reasonably believes it to be contraband. Just because the plain feel doctrine has been
established does not granted officers the right to touch, it simply permits an officer to interpret tactile
sensations to identify an object during a pat down (Poulin, 1997 pg. 23).
There is a strong correlation between the Fourth Amendment and racial profiling. I asked a police
officer what they believed was the main reason for a lawsuit against an officer and they said violations
in regards to the Fourth Amendment followed by failure to act. Take the United States v. Brignoni
Ponce case for instance. A police officer pulled over a drive that looked to be Mexican because he
believed them to be an illegal immigrant. The problem was that officers were roving the border and
stopping individuals for no reason other than to see if they were illegal immigrants. The Fourth
Amendment held that a patrolman is prohibited to crowd the Mexican border just to stop and

1 King David Research Paper
The reign of David brought political stability and spiritual renewal to the nation of Israel. The good
work of David did not last beyond the next generation. Solomon succeeded David and expanded the
territories of Israel. Unfortunately, Solomon s expansionary policy was done with spiritual
compromises. Consequently, evil and apostasy started to creep into Israel during Solomon s reign to
eventually break up the kingdom after his death. Israel moved from a period of tranquillity under the
reign of Solomon to a period of turmoil when the kingdom was divided after his death.
A. HISTORICAL SETTING OF 1 KINGS
In order to appreciate the biblical account in 1 Kings, it is necessary to look at the political situation
within and outside Israel during the period of the monarchy. The monarchy under David and Solomon
was united but after the death of Solomon the monarchy was divided, with ten tribes in the north and
two tribes in the south.
1. Internal Political Situation during the Monarchy
The period in the Book of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Egypt did not pose much of a threat for Solomon because Solomon married the daughter of Pharaoh (1
King 3:1). However, during the reign of Rehoboam, King Shishak of Egypt invaded Israel and stripped
the temple of its gold (1 Kings 14:25 27). In the end, Rehoboam had to promise Shishak a huge tribute
before Egypt agreed to withdraw (Bright 1981:233). The other threat came from Aram (sometimes
referred to as Syria). Asa of Judah tried to enter into an alliance with Ben Hadad king of Aram but had
to pay a high costs for it (1 Kings 15:18 19). Later Omri of Israel tried to ward off the Aramean threat
by marrying his son Ahab to the Phoenician princess Jezebel, hoping that the Israel Phoenicia alliance
would be strong enough to counter the Arameans (1 Kings 16:31) (House 1995:45). In the end, this
arrangement brought even greater harm to the

Unauthorized Immigration
Currently, the problem of unauthorized immigration divides Congress along political party lines. Many
politicians who are anti immigrant and pro immigrant seek for ways by which they can impact their
political base. As research shows, politicians and anti immigrant groups take advantage of the mass
media in order to persuade their constituency. The media uses quantitative data analysis of the
unauthorized population to create a media spectacle, by the portrayal of unauthorized immigrants as
criminals (Correa Cabrera 2012). This media spectacle serves to exploit the fears of many Americans
who oppose legalization. As a result, many people feel encouraged to contact their local representatives
to stand against the legalization of the unauthorized population.
Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965
First, it is important to present a historical context of unauthorized immigration to understand the
current dilemma. In order to change discriminatory immigration policies, the Immigration and
Nationality Act of 1965 was signed into law. After the 1965 act, immigration from Asia and Latin
America increased dramatically. However, for Latin America countries, the legislation restricted the
number of legal entries into the United States. Since the bill allowed for visas through family
reunification, the number of immigrants from Latin American countries increased, thus exhausting the
available visas. The result of these events created chain migration which caused unauthorized

The Glass Ceiling And Gender Gap Between Women And Men
Abstract
The business case for gender diversity in senior and executive positions is compelling. Studies show
that companies that have the best records for promoting women outstrip their competition on every
measure of profitability. Yet women disproportionately are failing to attain high level positions.
Reviewing current data on women in the workplace, findings of studies on the relationship between
gender diversity in senior management and company performance, and the literature on gender
behavioral differences and the workplace, this article explores the possible reasons for the persistent
wage and gender gap between women and men in senior leadership positions and discusses possible
remedies (Meyerson, D.E. Fletcher, 2000)
Quote: It s an uphill struggle, to be judged both a good woman and a good leader.
Rosabeth Moss Kanter
Literature Review
The Glass Ceiling
The glass ceiling was first introduced in the 1980 s. It is a symbol for the past and present barriers that
block women and minorities from progressing up the corporate ladder to management and leadership
positions. The glass ceiling represents a metaphorical barrier preventing women from rising to the
highest organizational levels (Daily Dalton, 1999, p. 4). In recent years there has been remarkable
progress made by women. Many women now hold higher seats on boards, run companies and have
become prominent leaders. However; the truth is women at high levels of leadership is still sporadic.

  • 3. A System Of Delete Unwanted Messages A system to delete unwanted messages from osn use walls abstract One principal issue in today On line Social Networks (OSNs) is to give clients the capacity to control the messages posted naturally private space to stay away from that undesirable substance is shown. Up to now OSNs give little backing to this prerequisite. To fill the crevice, in this paper, we propose a framework permitting OSN clients to have an immediate control on the messages posted on their dividers. This is accomplished through an adaptable standard based framework, that permits clients to tweak the sifting criteria to be connected to their dividers, and a Machine Learning based delicate classifier consequently naming messages in backing of substance based separating. Record Terms On line Social Networks, Information Filtering, Short Text Classification, Policy based Personalization existing system: We accept that this is a key OSN administration that has not been given in this way. Surely, today OSNs give almost no backing to avert undesirable messages on client dividers. Case in point, Face book permits clients to state why should permitted supplement messages in their dividers (i.e., companions, companions of companions, or characterized gatherings of companions). Then again, no substance based inclinations are bolstered and in this manner it is unrealistic to counteract undesired messages, for example, political or obscene ones, regardless of the client who posts them. • 4. Freakonomics A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side... Freakonomics A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner Freakonomics brings together many combinations of thoughts that one wouldn t find relevant in companionship. The two authors discuss comparisons that are so off the wall, that you almost question reading the book; however, that is the reason many read the book in the first place. The authors Levitt and Dubner compare in one chapter of Freakonomics the reason why drug dealers live with their moms. Throughout this chapter, the authors discuss questions about why intelligent people sometimes do not ask questions that people really care about, advertising and surveys, and why, in general, do drug dealers still live with their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, I find that throughout this topic of discussion from Freakonomics, the author s use examples that help clarify the reader s curiosity to why such a question should be asked in the first place, and thus, setting the reader s mind to think about the following topics in the chapter. The second point I aim to prove, is the author s use of advertising and examples of misused surveys to prepare the reader for the chapter s topic. The evidence in this section is based on an example of Mitch Snyder, who was an advocate for homeless people, a Listerine advertising campaign, and the Atlanta Police Department s instantly cleaner image to prepare for the 1996 Olympic Games. All three of these examples leave the reader feeling like they have just wasted 15 minutes reading something that does not even pertain to the chapter s content. Levitt and Dubner use Mitch Snyder s case as an example to show how surveys and statistics, when given in error, provide the media with an informational field day. Snyder was an activist for homeless people who testified before Congress about the enormous size of the current homeless rate.Their use of this example is hard to understand, because sufficient evidence is not given to the reader as to why this example is important. The section on advertising seems to take the reader away from the chapter s context for a while, confuse them, and then land them back to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Effects Of Americans On Indian Life One cannot examine U.S. history without looking at the interactions between Native Americans and Americans. From colonization to industrialization, conflicts between these groups have always been prevalent. Indians have been stripped of their land, heritage and status. Our guns, germ and culture have killed them. One can see this power struggle in many pieces of literature. Two being, Crazy Horse: A Life , a secondary source focusing on a Sioux warrior Crazy Horse and the Plains peoples, and Indian Trader John Lawson s Journal of Carolina 1709, a primary source that describes an English merchant s encounter with Indians in Carolina. This paper will focus on the effects of Americans on Indian life. Crazy Horse: A Life is a secondary source of information that tells the story of Sioux leader Crazy Horse and his tribe. As Whites invade their land for gold Crazy Horse has to find a way to keep his home. Throughout the source, Larry McMurtry, with little evidence, draws up the rise and fall of Crazy Horse. From early on it was evident of the whites were moving into the Plains peoples settlements, The author wrote, ...at first the pressure of white intrusion may have been subtle but and slight but it was present, and would be present throughout his entire life... the Sioux people and others way of life was dying because of the settlements of white people on their land. Their settlements cause the game to leave the area, which in turn hurt the hunters of the tribe. With these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Manufacturing Processes Research Report On The Production... Manufacturing Processes Research Report Introduction In 2011 the US federal government spent approximately 6 billion dollars on research and development in the field of Engineering (National Science Foundation, 2013). Through these technical revolutions we are entering into an age of advanced manufacturing, where down times and complete turnaround times have been shorted exponentially. One advancement, Hydro forming, has changed the way many products are produced and manufactured in the past 3 decades. It is a die forming operation, used primarily for creating complex parts without the expensive cost of tooling, and die making. Tubular Hydroforming will be the focus of this report as it is a key process in the production of a Bicycle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Advantages/ Disadvantages of Tubular Hydroforming The advantages of hydroforming highly out way other forms of manufacturing processes across the board. One of the largest factors that puts hydroforming ahead of the other manufacturing processes is sheer cost of tooling. Due to the fact that you only need the negative mold tool of the product that you are making, your cost drops significantly. Furthermore unlike conventional tooling processes because the manufacturing requires no cutting or further machining after the part have been made. You can reduce the amount of machinery that you need to correct any imperfections. Also when hydroforming products you are able to deliver an equal amount pressure over the surface that is required giving a uniform thickness to the part you are making. That reduces costs of material as well as the ability to guarantee that the part you are making is to the desired thickness, keeping waste down and rejected parts down to a minimum. When creating a bike frame, it helps the strength to make all the structural areas with the most surface area possible. As well, materials need to be reduced to cut down cost, which is mitigated when hydro forming because it is a highly calculated operation where the materials are specifically chosen to maximize the potential. Hydroforming uses the same material and can also do high detail items within the product ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many events that take place, however I will try to focus the events that try to get the author Nicolette Toussaint to accept that she is disabled. The author is living with a hearing impairment that occurred when she was a baby. Nicolette learned from her parents how she lost her hearing from getting pneumonia. She realizes that she can not hear when she gets a hearing aid at thirty years old. The hearing aid took away her peace. The hearing aid made her be able to hear every noise around her and it usually startled her. Nicolette s coworkers thought she was rude at meetings because she would answer the wrong questions. She did not want to be labeled disabled because she was more than just a person with a hearing problem. Another quote that displayed self doubt is when Nicolette explains, For the first time, I felt unequal, disadvantaged and disabled[...] I knew that I had lost something: not just my hearing, but my independence and my sense of wholeness. In addition, Nicolette also struggles with her identity. Not hearing should not change how people perceive you. nicolette states, If I tell people may see only my disability. • 10. The Effect Of Hieroglyphics On The Rosetta Stone Arguably one of the most important discoveries made regarding the historical and cultural study of ancient Egypt is the translation of the writing form known as hieroglyphics. This language, lost for thousands of years, formed a tantalizing challenge to a young Jean François who committed his life to its translation. Scholars such as Sylvestre de Sacy had attempted to translate the Rosetta Stone before Champollion, but after painstaking and unfruitful work, they abandoned it (Giblin 32). Champollion s breakthrough with hieroglyphics on the Rosetta Stone opened up new possibilities to study and understand ancient Egypt like never before, and modern Egyptology was born. The Rosetta Stone was found in the town of Rosetta and sent to French ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although he was able to find them, he was not able to decipher an alphabetical system that applied to the rest of the text. It seemed that the other symbols represented things, not letters. Having reached a dead end in his work, he gave up, saying, The problem is too complicated, scientifically insoluble (Giblin 32). A few others continued after him with the same idea of a solely alphabetical system, but they all came to the same dead end and were not able to make any progress. One of the first scholars to make any real headway on the translation was Thomas Young, a British polymath (Silet 1). Being a polymath and not understanding any of the language to begin with, Young meticulously inspected the stone, looking for recurring patterns and recording the number of times each symbol was repeated (Meyerson 123). Young knew that Ptolemys were Greek, so he assumed that the name Ptolemaios, spelled in the Greek style, would appear spelled the same way in the hieroglyphic section. Indeed he did find several times the cartouche containing what he believed to spell Ptolemaios (Giblet 40). He misunderstood a few of the symbols meanings, and it was later discovered that the Egyptian spelling was Ptolmis, but Young had taken the first major steps into translating the hieroglyphics (Giblet 41). The next step, and arguably the whole rest of the project, was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. The Kennedy Years and Camelot Essay There were two essay questions which I found equally interesting. Question one about President Roosevelt s New Deal . As a business student, the change in the economy after the depression led by President Roosevelt s New Deal shaped the economic growth in the country. The tenth question regarding President John F. Kennedy s Camelot was also fascinating. His inaugural address is one of the most memorable, Ask not what your country can do for you ask what you can do for your country . These packages were capable of designing a network, and some terminology and components used are common to all discrete event simulation systems. Unfortunately, there is no standardised set of terms and the naming can vary in literature making the packages not entirely user friendly; ( the NS3 for example uses programing labelled C++ and the main networking commands were known by only a few IT specialists). The Cisco Packet Tracer is a self paced, visual, interactive teaching and learning tool developed by Cisco Lab. The relative ease with which this package can be used makes it ideal for students as well as for professional use. A further benefit is that Packet Tracer provides a visual simulation of equipment and network processes to offset the challenge of limited equipment, (often a problem in schools and universities). A subculture is a cultural group within a larger culture that has the same interests, beliefs, behaviors, or religion. Subcultures varies from things like southern food culture, to things like bodybuilding. The strangest subcultures to me are the vampires, and the bronies. There were some more in mind, but these are the two that stood out the most to me. Strangely enough, vampires are already in people s imagination. Now they have a cultural group just for their imagination. I m not trying to seem disrespectful to the vampire subculture, but it s honestly strange that they think they are real vampires. This lifestyle formed in the western culture, stemming from horror films, and overall styles of Victorian England. The vampire subculture is just like any other system of beliefs. They commit themselves to this lifestyle and participate in rituals. Continually, vampires dress themselves in gothic clothing with dark eye shadow, and black nail polish. In this vampire lifestyle, you will find blood donors who are people who allow the vampires to drink their actual blood. The donors are hard to find, but they are subservient to the vampires. In particular, the institutionally racist nature of the police and courts towards Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups (BAME) will be addressed. The Lammy Review has been instrumental in outlining the disproportionate representation of BAME groups within the CJS. In a letter addressed to the Prime minister, David Lammy reports the findings from his review. 51% of UK born individuals from BAME backgrounds believe that the CJS discriminates against certain groups and individuals (Lammy,2016). During police interviewing of the men, the police deployed barbaric interrogation techniques, petrifying the men into signing false confessions (Belloni and Hodgson, 2000. pg. 10). These confessions, used as evidence against the men in court, wrongly imprisoned them. However, two years later in 1992, the scandalous nature of the police investigation was exposed and the men were released (Campbell, 2013). The court s decision to quash the sentence exposed the misconduct and institutional racism present in the police. The Cardiff Three is an example of the police fabricating confessional evidence, through the torment and torture of the men. All three men were from BAME backgrounds and had consequently been framed for a crime they didn t commit. • 22. Hinduism As A Family Of Beliefs Dissimilar to Christianity, Hinduism is portrayed as a family of beliefs. Hinduism unites the worship of many gods with a belief in a single divine reality (Molloy, 75). Hinduism can be compared to that of the Ganga Ma, a significant river in the Indian culture. Comparing it with the river saying that it flows and gains momentum. The Hindus have four very important life goals; kama or pleasure, artha or economic security, dharma or social and religious duty, and moksha or complete freedom. While Hinduism consist of more than one god, individuals tend to focus on a particular god. Three gods are particularly central in the life of Hinduism. The three gods, Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, represent creation, preservation, and destruction. (Molloy, 75). Brahma is the god of creation. In today s world, he is the least worshipped god in India. There are only two temples in all of India dedicated to him (Brahma). Brahma has a unique look, with four heads and four arms. The second god, Vishnu, is the god of preservation. Thus far in creation, he has been said to be incarnated nine times. Worshippers believe that he will incarnate one last time near the end of the world. Similarly, to what Paul thought of Jesus, Like any major god, Vishnu is involved in a number of colorful stories which illustrate his virtues as the protector of cosmic order (Vishnu). Vishnu is uniquely depicted by having blue skin, and four arms. In his four hands, he holds objects representing what he is dependable for. Shiva, the last god, is the god of destruction. In Hinduism, destruction is considered necessary for new life forms to appear. Shiva is portrayed by his blue face and white body, three eyes, and four arms. Christianity and Hinduism each have their own form of practices and rituals. Christians have rituals that are called sacraments. There are seven sacraments throughout life that a Christian can devote themselves to. Women s health is an issue of social justice in a sense that fairness and equality should be primordial in the health care system. Social justice aims to support the wellbeing of all individuals regardless of differences. Unfortunately, little has been done to promote and improve women s health. Women have always been healers. Even though they were not licensed with medical degrees, women were nurses and pharmacists. Today, however, the health care system is a male dominated industry. Because it has become the property of male professionals, many issues are affecting women and their children. In the future. the exchange rate between Canada and the US is predicted to help the Canadian sports teams. Experts can predict with accuracy how exchange rates will change up to two years in advance(Campbell). The scene where Rick Blaine, the lead male, is at the bar after seeing Ilsa Lund, his former lover, is the most dramatic moment in the film. The audience first sees Rick alone at the bar drinking. Sam walks in the bar and has a powerful conversation with Rick. The moment that these two characters share is dramatic because the audience is getting to see a side of Rick that hasn t been seen yet. The audience is used to seeing Rick as the perfect man. After he sees Ilsa, he breaks down, which is indicated by his heavy drinking, showing that he has a weakness. The cinematography helps show the dynamic change in Rick. The shot distance allows the audience to see Rick s facial expressions. Although Rick is seen as strong and independent, when he is reunited with Ilsa, he is drawn into a darkness that he is struggling with in the scene; it is easy to see the struggle of man vs. himself and the concept of masculinity. In this scene we see Rick in a vulnerable state after having seen Ilsa for the first time in a year. The camera shot is varied from close ups to medium long shots. According to Hobbes, the nature of war consisteth not in actual fighting, but in the known disposition thereto during all the time there is no assurance to the contrary. (13) War is not a state of fighting, it is a state of being; specifically a state of being in which safety and protection of one s life or happiness are close to non existent. Coupled with the very real ideas of exhaustible resources and the will to survive, this war or natural world is then populated by beasts unreasoned beings dominated by their psyches and unable to coexist in a society. Hobbes concluded that in the nature of man, we find three principal causes of quarrel. First, competition; secondly, diffidence; thirdly, glory. () These three passions are at once dangerous to the natural world, but necessary for the artificial world to exist. The competition to which Hobbes speaks is a competition for power. In his observations, it is the powerful that are happy and can assure their continued felicity. Thus, competition begets violence. Diffidence implies the defense of oneself and your well being in fear of it being stripped of you. Diffidence seems to beget violence as well. And glory begets the most violence. • 32. European Influence in Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe, presents the result of colonization of the Ibo people by the European missionaries. The Ibo culture is threatened to change by the European influence. Villagers are divided between resisting a new lifestyle or embracing it for better opportunities in society. The struggle to keep Ibo traditions alive is reflected in Okonkwo and Obierika s relationship to one another. Okonkwo represents the resistance of change by keeping traditional values in high regard while, Obierika signifies the openness to opportunity by questioning the current Ibo values. The arrival of European missionaries persuades the exchange of traditional Ibo methods, customs, and community for Christianity, resulting in the community to fall apart. Before the arrival of European influence, villagers of Umuofia had a single option for a way of life. It was a place to be feared, dominated by war and violent practices. Ibo culture is centered on a patriarchal system based on hierarchy; the highest titles held by male egwugwu in the legal system and the osu at the bottom. The main character, Okonkwo, represents the ambition to strive for a higher position in society in order to gain status: His life had been ruled by a great passion to become one of the lords of the clan (131). Another aspect in Ibo culture is the representation of women. One finding suggests that the ocean water is less salty then it was under the ice twenty years earlier this would tend to confirm that the melting and shrinking of the ice caps has already taken place (Barker 43). Furthermore, a majority of the research literature so far has all been based on the data that the ASRS has stored, but almost no research has been done on the ASRS awareness within the aviation community. If the proper research is done on the ASRS and the knowledge of it of the aviation sector, the field would view a greatly increased input of data and create a truly preventative system that create an overall safer environment. • 41. The Separation Of Powers In The United States History has time and again shown that unlimited power in the hands of one person or group in most cases means that others are suppressed or their powers restricted. The separation of powers in a democracy is a necessity to prevent abuse of power and to safeguard freedom for all. In order to prevent the abuse of powers, the power of the government should not be left entirely to one body or person; instead it should be separated or divided in some way. The United States government is divided into three specific branches the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. The constitution s reasoning to divide it up and give each branch different powers is to be able to form a system of checks and balances. The term trias politica or separation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Three separate branches share the powers of the United States government. Each branch has both expressed powers, those specifically listed in the Constitution, and implied powers, those reasonably suggested by its expressed powers such as how they did not imbue the Supreme Court with the power to declare acts of Congress unconstitutional, but the court simply assumed that role because it was obviously necessary (McKnight). In general, the legislative branch makes the nation s laws, the executive branch enforces the laws, and the judicial branch interprets the laws if questions arise. A system of checks and balances makes sure that each branch acts only within its constitutional limits. Each branch has some powers that curb, or check, those of the other two. This prevents any single government group or official from becoming too powerful. For example, the president is the head of the executive branch. The president is the commander in chief of the army and navy of the United States, but only congress has the authority to raise and support an army, and to declare war. Congress also has the authority to enact laws but it can be checked by an executive veto. One branch of government must not exercise the power of another, for instance, executive should not legislate (Barnett 4). The separation of powers is also reflected in the fact that certain functions must not be exercised by one and the same person. Meaning, the Federal President cannot be a Member of the National Council at the same time, or a judge who is appointed Minister or elected to be a Member of the National Council must be temporarily suspended from his/her judicial ... While I know that there are those out there that hold this opinion, I also know that there are those that this will greatly offend. All the systems in the human body are essential to our survival and good health. If you take away the purpose of just one of these body systems our whole body will not work thoroughly. Nervous system, endocrine respiratory, circulatory, immune, digestive, excretory, skeletal, muscular, and the reproductive systems are all examples of different system in the human body. They all work jointly for us to move, dance, eat, and think like we do. One of the most important system is the skeletal system. It support our body, protects, and helps us with movement, storage of minerals and blood cell production. The skeleton also protects the internal organs from any harm and damage, allows movement by providing a structure for the muscles to attach to and stores bone marrow, which is used to produce red and white blood cells. A good example would be the brain, which is inside the skull, and is protected by the skull from any trauma to the head. Also the heart, lungs, liver and other internal organs that are caged in the rib cage and protected from trauma by the ribs. The vertebrate/spine hold the body straight, allowing us to have motions such as taking notes in class. The skeletal incorporates all of the bones and joints in the entire body. When it comes to the Fourth Amendment and searching a person s car or their person, there are a few factors to take into consideration. In order for an officer to search an individual s car, they must have consent, otherwise the search is unreasonable and whatever evidence seized could be inadmissible in the court of law. However, it is possible to conduct a search without consent and seize evidence without a warrant but there ought to be probable cause or reasonable suspicion. Dickerson (1993), if an officer can readily identify an object from a pat down, they can use their discretion and experience and retrieve it if they know it to be true. If they are unsure and take it, whatever was seized is inadmissible in court. In legal terms, this is known as the plain feel doctrine. This allows a police officer to seize objects during a legitimate pat down search if by plain feel he reasonably believes it to be contraband. Just because the plain feel doctrine has been established does not granted officers the right to touch, it simply permits an officer to interpret tactile sensations to identify an object during a pat down (Poulin, 1997 pg. 23). There is a strong correlation between the Fourth Amendment and racial profiling. I asked a police officer what they believed was the main reason for a lawsuit against an officer and they said violations in regards to the Fourth Amendment followed by failure to act. Many politicians who are anti immigrant and pro immigrant seek for ways by which they can impact their political base. The media uses quantitative data analysis of the unauthorized population to create a media spectacle, by the portrayal of unauthorized immigrants as criminals (Correa Cabrera 2012). Yet women disproportionately are failing to attain high level positions. Reviewing current data on women in the workplace, findings of studies on the relationship between gender diversity in senior management and company performance, and the literature on gender behavioral differences and the workplace, this article explores the possible reasons for the persistent wage and gender gap between women and men in senior leadership positions and discusses possible remedies (Meyerson, D.E. Rosabeth Moss Kanter Literature Review The Glass Ceiling The glass ceiling was first introduced in the 1980 s. It is a symbol for the past and present barriers that block women and minorities from progressing up the corporate ladder to management and leadership positions. The glass ceiling represents a metaphorical barrier preventing women from rising to the highest organizational levels (Daily Dalton, 1999, p. 4).
