History / Origins According to the company s website, ConocoPhillips can have its origins traced
back to 1875, with the Conoco founder Isaac E. Blake having the idea to have kerosene available to
the public in an affordable way, in the Ogden, Utah region. In the early twentieth century, the
Phillips brothers began drilling with great success. After both companies were strong individual
success, they formed a merger ConocoPhillips, with the strengths of oil and gas that merged in
2002 to form a partnership. Being a strong competitor in the industry, the main competitors include
the likes of BP, ExxonMobil, etc. Although new competition is quite unlikely, ConocoPhillips must
be quite cautious in terms of price sensitivity and integration. The reasoning behind this is the
extreme competitive nature of the industry, and the minute differences between the top tiers of
competition. The years leading up to the formation of ConocoPhillips were marked by moments of
triumph and challenges. Several of these moments highlighted both Conoco and Phillips pioneering
spirits. Phillips led the path in innovation by becoming the first company to develop and market
propane for home heating and cooking, building the first long distance multi product pipeline and
inventing a process to make high octane gasoline possible. Conoco used its pioneering spirit to
develop the first filling station in the

Essay on Quebec Nationalism
The question of whether Quebec will secede from Canada to become an independent nation has
been a hot topic in the country for several years now. It dates back to the abortive rebellions of
1837 38. In 1980, a referendum to secede was rejected by a 60 40 margin. Since then though, the
numbers of Quebeckers that want to become sovereign has significantly increased. There is so
many questions of what will happen if this does happen. In this paper I plan to take a deeper look
at this situation and try to figure out what it would actually be like if Quebecwas its own country.
The premier of Quebec, Lucien Bouchard has been attempting to separate from Canada for quite

They take part in just about all international organizations in existence. Don t get me wrong, there
are also many problems within the Country. For instance the rocky relationship between the
majority and the indigenous people. There is also a great differential of wealth between regions,
and inequalities in personal incomes. Despite all of this, many feel that this is not the reason for
Quebec secession.
Quebec has 24 percent of the total population of Canada, and 25 percent of its Gross National
Product. The majority of Quebec s population is of French descent and language. It reaches
approximately 83 percent of the entire province. About 60 percent of the French voted for secession
in the 1995 referendum, at a remarkably high turn out, 94 percent of the total electorate.
It is noteworthy that of those francophone Quebeckers favoring federalism were the older group
over 50 years of age. However, in the younger age group pro secessionists had the majority. The
anglophones, allophones, and the indigenous people were all strongly against secession. The
premier of Quebec Lucien Bouchard has in fact stated that there will be another referendum.
Although under Quebec Law this cannot take place until another provincial election has been held.
However, the Government is now more concerned with rebounding Quebec s struggling economy
which has struggled as a result of the political

Similarities Between Macbeth And Kim Jong-Un
Kim Jong Un The supreme leader of North Korea is regrated as God in North Korea. All the
news report in North Korea glorified him as an untouchable person, even the sins he made were
being covered by media as well. He s been living like the serpent that hides underneath the flower.
And he also is a savage dictator for his country, the truth is that he is just an ambitious man who is
losing control. He used tyranny as a weapon to consolidate his position. Unfortunately, one of the
most important things he never cared, is his people. All the disaster he brought, all the tragedy he
made, all the slaughters he cause. Remind us of another cruel leader, Macbeth a character in
William Shakespeare s play. The similarities between Macbeth and Kim Jong Un are startling and
horrifying. They both showed us what happens when ambitious men become rulers. This is why the
play Macbeth can still apply to modern concept.

will shoot them straight way. The World Food Program said Thursday that North Korea s food

households lacked the essential amount of vitamins, minerals, fats and proteins in their diets.

Psychoanalytic Perspective Of Kurtz s Heart Of Darkness

Psychoanalytic perspective of Kurtz in Heart of Darkness
The novel Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad reveals the uncanny similarities between the
Europeans and the natives as well as demonstrates why imperialism is not civilizing the natives.
Although Conrad often dehumanizes the natives, he still demonstrates that Europeans still are
savage in some ways. Kurtz is an example of the savagery still remnant in European culture buried
deep within us. Kurtz s journey in the Congo can be seen as his pure primal expression of his id
without restraint from his ego and superego.

His descent was mainly caused by the dehumanizing aspect of the Congo which the doctor implies
by taking initial measurements . His separation from civilization and the station allow for him to
forgo the superego and ego because they are not necessary in the Congo where only his primal
drives are necessary for survival shown by the natives. The primal and degrading aura of the
Congo can be seen when Marlow says It was unearthly, and the men were No, they were not
inhuman. (44). This shows that the aura of the Congo is foreign to the Europeans and
environmental factors affect their ability to suppress their id like it is more difficult when alone
and away from civilization.
The return of Kurtz on Marlow s boat leads to the return of his ego and superego because he is
with Europeans again which shows what happens after his morality returns. Kurtz is described
to be feel very guilty about his actions, and he says things like I am waiting to die which shows
his feelings of utter shame of his actions after he represses his id even further. This culminates
into his final words the horror, the horror which shows the extreme guilt and shame towards his
actions to the natives and his beliefs of imperialism. This also shows how different one person can
be when he lets his id run rampant and when he controls it. Kurtz could be civilized European who
embodies the initiative of civilizing the natives, while he could also

Homeschooling Disadvantages
George Bernard Shaw, an influential Irish writer, once said, My schooling not only failed to teach
me what it professed to be teaching but prevented me from being educated to an extent which
infuriates me when I think of all I might have learned at home by myself. Many parents have
latched onto Shaw s beliefs and have made the audacious decision to home educate. Currently, there
are approximately 1,642,027 homeschooled children in the U.S.A. alone. Home educating is an
alternative to mainstream public schooling, and it is performed within the home through
curriculums, co ops, or online educationsystems. Homeschoolingis advantageous because
homeschooled children are proven to perform better academically, they can avoid inimical
mainstream schoolsituations, and parents can specialize curriculum in the best interest of their child
individually.
First and foremost, when a student has a positive environment to be surrounded in, they are able to
perform better academically. To start, when children are homeschooled, they continuously have
access to highly encouraging parents who push them to do their best. In an article by Johnna Burns,
Meehan and Stephenson stated that kids tend to achieve greatly as homeschoolers because the
parents are highly encouraging. They also accomplish more socially and academically because
adults typically view their children as advanced in comparison to other kids, causing children to
live up to that expectation (7). Because parents see their

This paper explains the importance of having a new approach towards competitive strategies due to
the changes in the elements that determine the industry competition in agribusiness sector.
Most of the research on the usage of Information Systems in Agribusiness doesn t focus on the
coordination issues. Take Porter s Value Chain concept as an example for this. It doesn t focus on
the role that technology plays in improving coordination among market players. Rather, it focuses
on how information technologies can be made use of to lower the costs, differentiating the products
and/or increasing the barriers for entering. Konsynski and McFarlan are researching on
competitiveness to link coordination and Information Technology issues. The explored different
information partnerships among market players, by focusing on the non food sector, which allows
efficient and productive coordination. In this paper, Streeter and Hudson applied this Konsynski
McFarlan framework to the agribusiness and food sector to identify various partnerships.
As noted by Ed McMillan, CEO of Purina Mills, for the first time in the history of American
agriculture, the end consumer is driving the entire food chain. Not the packers or producers . In
other words, today s Agribusiness sector is considered as a Consumer Oriented sector. Not a
Commodity

The Myth Of The Robber Barons
A Review of The Myth of the Robber Barons a book by Burton Folsom JR.
Robber barons, famously known for their ruthless means of acquiring wealth back in the late
nineteenth century. They were awful. They were complete menaces to society and only ever
created wealth for themselves. Or, at least that s what is commonly taught in high school American
history classes, but author Burton Folsom Jr. offers an unique alternative perspective in his book,
The Myth of the Robber Barons. He provides a closer look at the results achieved by these
infamous robber barons to give insight into what actually happened in the wake of these
entrepreneurs conducted business. Folsom uses seven chapters on separate industries ran by
robber barons to show, at least from an overall economic view, The United States experienced a
gross net benefit by the existence of robber barons. The book starts by diving into the steamship
industry while closely following the business life of Cornelius Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt started his
steamboat industry life big as he was given the task of breaking up a strict monopoly that had
taken over all of the boat traffic in New York for the past thirty years. Right from the start
Vanderbilt used illegal means of operating business by avoiding the law to ship passengers
between New Jersey and New York, but he was charging lower rates. Folsom uses a passage on
just the 2nd page of the book to show that A jubilant Vanderbilt was greeted in New Brunswick,

Mcdonald s The Fast Food Restaurant Business
McDonald s Corporation has continued to evolve in the fast food industry, and introduced a
more contemporary look and new menu items, while altering traditional favorites. The changes
we see before us today, are all a part of the company s strategic plan. However, five things still
remain a priority in McDonald s strategy; people, products, place, price, and promotion. The
company depends on each of these core drivers to create opportunities for McDonald s
Corporation. During my research I have taken a look at how some of McDonald s competitors
measure up to the company. However, in this paper I will be discussing Burger Kings position
compared to McDonald s by using some of the recent articles I read about the fast food restaurant
business. Additionally, I will be summarizing McDonald s strategies and performance in 2010, and
the effectiveness of the company s strategies. Lastly, I will discuss some recommendations that I
would offer McDonald s chief executive officer. Burger King is one of many competitors
McDonald s continues to crush year after year. However, all eyes are currently on Burger King
with its newly introduced menu item; flame grilled hot dogs. Although it may not be bringing as
much revenue as McDonald s, this could be a smart strategy by Burger King, because hot dogs are
not on a lot of fast foodmenus; especially not McDonald s. It could assist the company in attracting
children and other diners who are looking for something traditional and inexpensive

Essay on Lucid Dreaming
Lucid Dreaming
Dreams are the playground of the mind. Anything can happen when one is dreaming. The only
limitation is that we only rarely realize the freedoms granted to us in our dreams while we have
them. Lucid dreaming is the ability to know when one is dreaming, and be able to influence what
will be dreamt. A normal dreamis much like passively watching a movie take place in your skull.
In a lucid dream, the dreamer is the writer, director, and star of the movie.
Lucid dreams are exceptionally interesting. Lucid dreaming is defined as dreaming when the
dreamer knows that they are dreaming. The term was coined during the 1910Г•s by Frederik van
Eeden who used the word lucid in the sense of mental clarity (Green, 1968). ... Show more content

Furthermore, lucid dreams can be even more informative about the self than non lucid dreams,
because one can observe the development of the dream out of oneГ•s feelings and tendencies,
while being aware that one is dreaming and that the dream is coming from the self. The notion
that dreams are unconscious processes that should remain so is false. Waking consciousness is
always present in dreams. If it were not, we would not be able to remember our dreams, because
one can only remember an event that has been consciously experienced. The added
consciousness of lucid dreaming is nothing more than the awareness of being in the dream state.
The first thing that attracts people to lucid dreaming is often the potential for adventure and
fantasy fulfillment. Flying is a favorite lucid dream delight, as is sex. Many people have said
that their first lucid dream was the most wonderful experience of their lives. A large part of the
extraordinary pleasure of lucid dreaming comes from the exhilarating feeling of utter freedom that
accompanies the realization that one is in a dream, where there will be no social or physical
consequences of oneГ•s actions. Unfortunately for many people, instead of providing an outlet for
unlimited fantasy and delight, dreams can be dreaded episodes of limitless terror. Lucid dreaming
may well be the basis of the most

Essay On Ideology Of Pakistan
The consequences of independence from British control over India and demise of British colonial
power in the South Asian subcontinent led to the genesis of a new country up on the world map on
14th August 1947. Undoubtedly, the fundaments of the demand of a separate country were based
on the religious identity and an intention to provide a secure haven for the Muslims from Hindu
dominated India. However, Pakistanwas not meant to be a theocratic state, in which the rulers of
government are vested with the uncontrolled power of religion. Instead, the founder of Pakistan

2.2Ideology of Pakistan
The ideology of Pakistan was two nation theory, according to which, Muslims and Hindus are two
distinct nations from every aspect of their lives. One of the core reasons of the separation of the
Subcontinent was that, post colonial Indian state failed to offer reasonable options to its Muslims
minority to sustain in India. Therefore, the problem of minority rights was the cutting edge of all
the political debates revolving around the formation of Pakistan.
While Jinnah s approach represented a state having equality for all and free from any kind of
discrimination of religion, caste and creed, there was a demand from fundamentalist Islamic
leaders for a strict Islamic mechanism to run the state affairs. Jinnah demanded a state for Muslims
minority in India, where religious freedom offered to other faith groups could be observed as the
matter of tolerance and acceptance on behalf of the Muslim majority.

Similarities And Differences Between South Africa And Haiti
In South Africa the first period up to 1910 indicated the establishment of schools, which were
mainly church schools, and the centre of a State system. According to Malherbe (1925:24),
education in the early days was haphazard and the nomadic people prevented the establishment of
permanent schools. Parents were responsible for hiring a schoolmaster who moved around with the
community providing tuition. Home instruction was therefore normal. Educationwas therefore a
private and local affair (Squelch, Private Education in South africa, 1997)

Neil Shusterman s Unwind
Unwind was a book filled with sass, adventure, and daring escapes. I give it a four point five
stars out of five. The character development was phenomenal and the main female protagonist
was great without being too annoying. But the ending, I feel, was a flop. It was building up to
this huge climax and it just didn t feel that exciting when it happened. Other than the ending
being a flop this was a great book and I feel that more people should read Neil Shusterman s
books because his books are unique from anything else in the YA scene and they will just pull you

literature but this doesn t feel like dystopian it feels like a great huge pile of awesomeness... Show

Harrison Ford is a great actor and he s old enough to fit the bill for the Admiral. Harrison Ford is a
grumpy little cinnamon roll in real life so I think he would do good depicting a fictional grumpy
cinnamon roll. The Admiral s third rule is that, my way is the only way (Shusterman 197), and
Harrison Ford s characters all have that sort of vibe and he plays that role quite well. The
Admiral fought in the civil war and has seen the horrors of battle, in this line it says I fought in
the Heartland War. The scars you so impertinently assumed were transplant scars came from a
grenade (Shusterman 222). The Heartland War took place many years before the events in the
book take place and Harrison Ford is around the age of seventy two, so it seems like they d be
around the same age.
I also really like Logan Lerman as Connor. Even though they screwed up the Percy Jackson
movies, I still really liked Logan Lerman as Percy Jackson and Connor reminded me of Percy
Jackson in mannerism and in looks. When Connor just randomly says nice socks (Shusterman
101), it reminds me of something Percy would have done. For me, Percy will forever be Logan
Lerman so Connor just ended up looking like Logan Lerman. Connor is described as having
brown eyes on the first page and Logan Lerman has blue eyes but I think that s a miniscule detail.

Introduction. D. A. Carson Is Research Professor And Teaches
Introduction
D. A. Carson is research professor and teaches New Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity
School and has written nearly fifty books on an extensive range of topics. His Christ and Culture
Revisited is a revisit of H. Richard Niebuhr s five models for seeing the relationship between Christ
and culture. The book is also a revisit of the broader question of Christ and culture in general, and
how it has dramatically changed from Niebuhr s day.
It changed primarily for three reasons: (a) the Church as it is today confronts, and, as a result of
progressions in communication, knows itself to be confronting, not a single culture (Western, say),
but very different cultures across the globe; (b) our contemporary, heightened ... Show more content

His work, for good or ill, has shaped much of the discussion (xi). Even though this is true and we
use Niebuhr s writing to understand the discussion, says Carson, it still has its flaws. It s five
options (1) Christ against Culture, (2) The Christ of Culture, (3) Christ above Culture, (4) Christ
and Culture in Paradox, and (5) Christ the Transformer of Culture come in for review and critique.
Carson looks principally at Niebuhr s use of Scripture, as it bears on his paradigm. Although
Niebuhr s is a commendable attempt to ground his configuration in the foundation documents of the
Christian faith, his effort fails in certain respects. Niebuhr s second option (The Christ of Culture),
for example, in the words of Carson, is certainly found in historical movements (those obligated to
Schleiermacher, F. D. Maurice, or Albrecht Ritschl, the cultural Christians of nineteenth century
classical theological liberalism), these movements, however, are of doubtful Christian authenticity
and have no warrant in the Bible ; and the fifth (Christ the Transformer of Culture) is found in
restricted forms in the New Testament, but certainly not in the strong form Niebuhr would like to
see adopted (40).
Evaluation
The biggest problem for Carson, however, is how Niebuhr

The Broken A
Having discussed the Broken A , one must now try to define and understand the Broken B , case
in point, Antonius Block, the knight from Det sjunde inseglet. Initially, it should be noted, just as
it was with the squire, that the knight is also a servant. The knight is a servant of God. This
brings into account the first aspect of the Broken B , religiousness and choice. For Kierkegaard
and Judge William, the character and narrator of B , religiosity and ethical choice come hand in
hand. Choose yourself! , as Mooney would claim the B would tell to the A , as A properly ethical

By following this, then the B , as stated by Judge William ... is in effect assuming that authentic
selfhood is possible only on ethical/religious terms. Choice and ethical are internally related.
(Lillegard, 94). If these are true to the B , where the religiosity of the individual plays a part in
their existence, and then added on top of that their ethics is connected to the religious as well, one

Mormon Stereotypes
Mormonism, the largest church to originate on American soil is not without its own burdens to
bear. As one of the younger religions, one that strayed from the foundations of the other already
established religions in the United States, it is often viewed with negativity and mockery. Modern
day social media, television, news articles and movies often exploit Mormon beliefs. They twist
and exaggerated certain facets of the Mormon way of life. This framing of their belief system by
the media leads the public opinion toward viewing this representation as a true depiction of the
Mormons. Some of the more extreme behaviors exhibited by members that have separated from the
main group are used against the entire faith by the media, so in turn this extremist view has become
a Mormon stereotype.
History of Mormonism The Mormon faith dates back to the year 1830 when Joseph Smith, the
founder along with 5 other men gathered together to form what they initially called The Church of
Christ. This was later changed to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Moving to
Palmyra, New York in 1816 with his parents and seven siblings, Joseph Smith and his family found
themselves confused and troubled by the opposing churches in the area. His family tried to
associate themselves with the Presbyterian Church for a time. Then his father shifted his interest to
Methodism, but none of the churches suited their needs. At the age of 14 Joseph found himself

relied on hunting and the collection of plants and fruits to stay alive. Small communities were
established by 5000 BC, and the farming of cotton, chili peppers, squash, maize (almost identical to
corn), and beans initiated. The early settlers populated mostly near the coast which allowed them to
utilize the wet climate to plant seeds. Peruwas also one of the first places where potatoes were

The James Valcq s Musical Adaptation Of The Spitfire Grill
Something Was Cooking at the Spitfire Grill
Southern Utah University performed James Valcq s musical adaptation of The Spitfire Grill
(Valcq, 2016). The production overall was slightly above average. There were aspects of the
musical that worked perfectly to go along with the main seed of redemption. Ideas and concepts of
relationships, redemption, and continuity were successfully and less than successfully shared
through this play. I will be going over how I believe The Spitfire Grillconnected itself to the seed of
redemption through what I saw and felt throughout the show.
Waiting for the show to start was actually when the production started. While I sat in the house for
the show to start, the smell of someone s coffee filled the room. I was momentarily distracted by
trying to figure out who was the coffee culprit and how their cup of coffee could be so potent that
I could still smell it with only five minutes until show time. As I gave up that hunt, I read the plays
brochure and brought up a summary of the play on my phone. I quickly put two and two together:
1) The Spitfire Grill is a breakfast hub and 2) coffee is a breakfast staple. The house having an
aroma of freshly brewed coffee was completely intentional and lasted all throughout the first act. I
really enjoyed the sense of smell being involved with the audience because it made me feel as if I
was waiting for my order to arrive. The smell of coffee is also a comfort smell to me and only
made me feel comfy

Being A Tough Climb By Adam Lambert
Adam Lambert says, Being different is always going to be a tough climb. What do the stories
from the Pixar people tell us about what it is like to be a kid and be on that tough climb? Pixar
people is trying to tell us that being different is okay and if you stay true, strong, and loyal to
yourself and you will create happiness and self esteem within yourself. They explained how
being gay and coming out was extremely difficult but no matter how hard things may seem
things will get better if you start thinking about the future and not just the things that are
happening now. Everyone in life goes through some type of struggles in life and there is always
someone in the world that is experiencing the same things that you are What can we do to help
the kids who are different, for whatever reason? How can we help them feel less alone? We can
talk to them and tell them that being different is what makes them who they are. I would also
explain to them that being strong and realizing that not everyone in the world accepts people who
are different but then there are those who do. That is why they must befriend people who are
similar to them and accepts them for who they are. Because changing themselves for the sake of
others will not contribute to their happiness. I think that letting kids know that are loved and that
you there for them when things are difficult in life gives them the feeling of support. And this is
what a child needs in order to stay strong and think positive.

Analysis Of The Movie The Graduate Essay
Edward Brambila
English 2 Prof. Sosner
12/16/2016
The Art of Symbolism in The Graduate The movie The Graduate is a struggle story of a fine
caliber that falls under the genre of comedic drama. Some might even argue that it was one of
the best films of its time and even till this day. The way the movie blends characters is anything
but superficial and its use of symbolism to describe said characters leaves little more to be
desired. While some may not like the movie and say it falls short the movie has proper use of
symbolism through the use of multiple props, it also uses symbolic statements as a way to
strengthen Dustin Hoffman s character s archetype and clue in on specific details which in turn
shows us the relationships between him and other characters. Of the many symbolic details the
first two we encounter at the very beginning of the film are cluing us in on the character of
Dustin Hoffman who is known as Benjamin Braddock. The two details happen almost
simultaneously, one being the song The Sound of Silence by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel and
the other is the symbolic action of him sliding across the screen on an airport conveyor belt. The
first detail, the song, suggests that the character Benjamin or Ben is lost in the world. He has no
idea where to go from this point in his life forward. He is lost in the darkness of life and is
directionless. The second detail is the conveyor belt which forcibly moving him along. This
conveys the fact that throughout

Gorbachev s Impact On The Soviet Union
In March of 1985, Mikhail Gorbachev becomes general secretary of the Communist Party, bringing
with him a wave of reform. His reform appeared in the form of a dual program, perestroika (to
restructure) and glasnost (openness), changing the Soviet Union s domestic governmental policies,
economic practices, and international relations for Gorbachev felt that his goals to improve the
Soviet Unions economy couldn t be done without reforming the political and social structures as
well. Gorbachev hoped that his reforms would reorganize and revive the USSR s economy, as it
had been stagnant since the Brezhnev years. Gorbachev s call for an intense technological
modernization was in the hopes of increasing industrial and agricultural productivity in order to
increase efficiency and productivity. Whether Gorbachev was successful in his aims of economic
rejuvenation will be examined within this essay, by examining perestroika and glasnost. When
Gorbachev came into power, he realized that the Soviet Union and nations under the Soviet Union s
control were struggling, their economies floundering, and the people were suffering. It was time for
change. Gorbachev saw that in order to stabilize Russiaa new approach was needed in order to
properly address the situation in which the Soviet Union had found itself. Through the use of two
overarching concepts, perestroika and glasnost, Gorbachev unintentionally began to deconstruct the
communist party and the USSR itself. In 1986,

Princess Culture And Gender Stereotypes In Princess Movies
From a young age, princess culture has impacted the lives of numerous people. Some individuals
may have spent their childhood in the attire of their favorite Disney princess while they put on
their best rendition of the character they admired most. Other children went seemingly unfazed by
the phenomenon, as their peers remained spellbound by the magical world of princesses. With
Disney s debut of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, princess movies provided the defining factor
of the Disney entertainment empire for years to come. From this, fairy tales embarked into a
territory that would touch the lives of many in a new way. However, since princess culture has

By doing so, Disney princess culture increases gender roles and affects how young girls view
themselves.
Bartyzel s wide array of evidence to support her claim that princess culture narrowly defines what
femininity means to young consumers makes her argument compelling. She used Disney s
unfitting princess makeover of the character Merida from Brave who desperately fought against
princess ideals in the movie as an example of how Disney has a habit of backtracking their own
progress. Bartyzel also provided accounts from mothers who support her claim by expressing that
their daughters behavior had been shaped by princess culture. Additionally, Disney routinely
overshadows the darkness of traditional fairy tales with overly idealistic narratives and has a history
of depicting harmful racial stereotypes, problematic female characterizations, and unrealistic
storylines (Bartyzel, 2015). Bartyzel examined these stereotypes and problematic characterizations
with the design alterations made to Disney princesses; specifically, princesses of color. Finally,
Bartyzel reinforced her argument by conveying that women are diverse and to overlook these
differences affects how young girls view themselves. Bartyzel s professional presentation, the
various forms of evidence, her counter arguments, and her examination of the different issues tied
to princess culture helped convey a strong argument.

Boston Red Patriots Essay
Founded on September 7th, 1630, Boston was one of the largest cities in North America, and was
also a hotbed for revolutionary Patriots in the late 1700 s. Yet very little meaningful fighting
happened around this area, despite its size, and the some 28,000 men in and around it. It was
because of the Continental Armys lack of discipline, trained officers and adequate equipment, and
the British force s laziness around orders and lack of enthusiasm for going on the offensive that
made the Siege of Bostonan avoidable, and pointless stalemate.
On one side of the siege, were the Patriots who made up the young and scrappy Continental Army, a
mixture of untrained northern militias, southern auxiliary infantry units, and the occasional group
of Native Americans, who all joined together in their hate of the British. The hate alone was not
enough to give the Patriot s victory and a wide range of shortcomings and failures made this body
of men ineffective. This ragtag group of individuals had very little equipment to start with. Most of

A Comparison of Two Accounts of Life After Death Essay
A Comparison of Two Accounts of Life After Death Materialism is the view that the body and
mind are inseparable, and for there to be life after death then the body must be resurrected, this is
much like the Christian view of life after death.
John Hick was a materialist and he argued that, in certain circumstances, it would be possible that
the dead could exist as themselves after death, if an exact replica were to appear. Hick uses
thought experiments to show the person who dies in this World is the same person who is
resurrected in the next. He uses examples of using a character called John Smith. If John smith

This view is supported by Aquinas. According to Aquinas the souloperates independently of the
body, and only things that are divisible are open to decay. The Soul is not divisible, unlike the
body and will therefore decay and die whilst the soul lives on. This view of the Soul been
separate to the body was accepted by Descartes too. Descartes said that it was conceivable for us
to survive without our bodies because our identity comes from our soul and it s ability to think
and reason. He rejected the idea that we need our bodies to live an intellectually aware and active
life. In my personal view both of these theories have major flaws. John Hick is merely
hypothesizing with notion that an exact replica of John Smith will simply re appear in India. He
uses it as a means to reach his end, through illogical reasoning.
The Dualist view of life after death also has its flaws. The idea of the body having no
characteristics unless it has a soul is absurd. The appearance of the body is a characteristic which
isn t determined but the Soul. I do feel that the Materialist view is the stronger. Even though it
does relay on slightly flawed logic. Even though this view is very much like the Christian view
there are some major contradictions between the replica theory and part of Luke s gospel.

Ephemeral Repertoire Of Embodied Knowledge
What Connerton calls incorporating practices and Taylor calls the repertoire affirms the need to
prioritize unstable pieces of evidence, traditionally ignored or skeptically criticized in histories of
Williams which favor normative assessment. Taylor describes that the rift, I submit does not lie
between the written and spoken word, but between the archive of supposedly enduring materials
(i.e., texts, documents, buildings, bones) and the so called ephemeral repertoire of embodied
practice/knowledge (i.e., spoken language, dance, sports, ritual). For this study, Taylor s point is
well taken as a means of dismembering critical hegemony. Taylor s research highlights the archive
as a site of several myths concerning how authoritarian... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This process provides a framework to value anti normative, embodied memories to unsettle the
dominance of normative interpretations of Williams s texts resulting from canonization. When
considering Eddie Dowling s production of Glass Menagerie, an emphasis on memory helps
escape the bias towards realism during the 1940s. During this period, an assumed realism
connected with Clifford Odets, Lillian Hellman, and Eugene O Neill s realistic plays were the
standard for commercially viable Broadway audiences. From the beginning, critics sought to
reframe Menagerie to fit within the constraints of other commercial dramas of the period such as
Lillian Hellman s The Little Foxes and William Saroyan s Time of Your Life. Incorporated
memories drawn from the theatrical practitioners contradict the bias toward realism. None of them
read Menagerie as a realistic play. The connection between Menagerie and an assumed realism
requires rereading the history that equates the immense popularity of Williams s anti normative text
with the commercial success which affirms realism as the form that will appeal most to audience
members. An understanding that Menagerie can be interpreted in multiple ways is easily
demonstrated by the plethora of books which set out to do just that. Normative inscription makes

Globalization And Globalization
With the changes in the global economy, pegged with the advancement of technology, companies in
the United States must reconsider their strategies to compete with international counterparts. It was
only 50 years ago, a company in anywhere town, America could carve out space in a market for
themselves and do well without a competitor in sight. Things have changed now and not is the
threat of a Wal Mart moving into your neighborhood a fear of the small to medium sized company,
international companies have also set their eyes on the United States. With as the leading consumer
market with a 28% of the world s consumer market, nearly four times larger than distant second
China, there is no wonder why any other country would want to penetrate the most lucrative market
on the planet. This is owed to the growth of globalization and the expansion of technology into
instruments beyond research, entertainment, and communication, and into the world of digital and
cryptographic currency. What the global economy is beginning to realize is: there are still
untapped markets where profits could be astronomical. Many developing countries are beginning
to adopt practices and methods of developed countries on a smaller scale, with the help of
technology. As the prevalence of new markets and a new form of currency grows, there is no doubt
larger companies will be able to seize the opportunity to make in these markets. One should consider
the following fragments and their stems that support

The Critique Of The Milgram Experiment
A particular experiment that I found intriguing so far in this class was The Milgram Experiment,
which was conducted by psychologist Stanley Milgram in 1963. The whole experiment was based
around obedience, particularly the conflict between obedience as related to authority and a person
s inner conscience (McLeod). Milgram got the idea for the study after the Nuremburg War
Criminals trial since many of the ones that were being tried claimed to just be following orders
from a higher authority (McLeod). This famous experiment took place soon after the trial of Adolf
Eichmannwhich left Milgram with the question, Could it be that Eichmann and his million
accomplices in the Holocaust were just following order? Could we call them Accomplices?
People that took part in this experiment were males where one was the learner and the other
was the teacher. However, what the participants did not know was that the learner was actually a
confederate, or a person that is directly involved in the experiment, that way the other person was
always the teacher. The two were in separate rooms, with the teacher s room containing a
researcher and an electric shock generator and the switches which ranged from 15 volts to 450
volts which was deadly. As the experiment began the learner was strapped to a chair where they
then hooked electrodes to him. He was then given a list of paired words and was told to memorize
them, the teacher then tested him by naming one of the words in the pair

Dyslexia Strategies
Students with dyslexia often struggle with expressive and recessive language disorders. According
to Wilkins Garside they have difficulty with reading, spelling, understanding language they hear, or
expressing themselves clearly in speaking or in writing. There are many strategies teachers can use
to assist students with dyslexiaand help them become successful in the classroom lessons. One
strategy that can be used to help students with dyslexia is allowing students to use graphic
organizers while reading or doing an activity. This allows them to organize their thoughts. For
students who struggle with remembering details or retelling a story they just read, the use of a flow
chart with pictures to help retell stories or put the events... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Socially, this could lead to less peer acceptance. Students who struggle with fitting in often find
themselves alienated from their peers. This often leads to a decrease in the students self esteem.
According to Ryan (2000), they may have difficulty reading social cues. If they do have difficulty
reading other people, they may not know, for example, how much distance to keep between
themselves and others, how to wait their turn, or how to interpret the body language of others. (p.5)
This could lead to problems when the students try to interact with their peers at school. There are
many strategies teachers can implement to make sure all students feel included in the classroom.
The teachers can have those students become teacher helpers to make sure they feel important to
the rest of the group. Passing out papers and supplies can be a very important job in the eyes of
the students. This leads them to feel more comfortable and needed in the classroom setting.
According to Ryan (2000), while they might feel excluded from their peers, they also struggle
with finding the right words to say and may pause before answering direct questions (p.5).
Adequate verbal communication is a key part of building relationships among their peers. The lack
of this puts students at a great disadvantage, as they grow older. How can a teacher help students
overcome this difficulty? To avoid having students be

Is Victor A Hero In Frankenstein
What does it mean to be a hero? The definition of a hero from the dictionary is a person noted for
courageous acts or nobility of character. However, this definition does not cover all of what it
means to be a hero is; for instance, a hero needs to also be educated, compassionate, and have other
personal and physical traits. Victor, from the novel Frankenstein, is the heroin the novel. On the
other hand, Victor doesn t meet all of the criteria of being a hero, but he is a better choice than the
other characters in the book. To summarize, being a hero means more than what it is portrayed as
in its definition, and Victor is a hero, but does not have all of the traits that most heroes do. There
are many traits that contribute to being a hero. For instance, a hero needs to be courageous, fearless,
daring, brave, educated, compassionate, and has to sacrifice something. Furthermore, these are all
mental traits that a hero... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, he does not have a guide, and he doesn t go through an initiation. Another example
is that he doesn t have a loyal band of companions because he is alone, and he doesn t get help
from supernatural forces. In addition to these physical traits, he doesn t have some of the
mental traits a hero needs. For example, he is not fearless because he is scared of his creation,
and he is not brave because he ran away from his creation. Additionally, he doesn t seem to have
compassion; especially for his creation. Furthermore, Victor doesn t follow the definition of a
hero exactly because he is not admired or idealized for his achievements. On the other hand, he is
a better hero than the creature. The creature doesn t have all of the traits that Victor has except for
compassion, but the creature doesn t have any of the heroic traits that Victor does have. Overall,
Victor does not have all the traits of being a hero, but he has more than the

Uses Of Trenches In WWI
Uses Of Trenches In WWI Although some people might say that world war 1 was won only by
man power it was real won with the great use of trenches. The front line trench covered soldiers
from enemy fire. The support trench provided a security for the front line trench. Reserve trench
supported the trench with artilleryfire, and other utilities.
The trenches were the main place that the war took place. The trenches provided cover and
shelter for the soldiers. According to the British Library the soldiers maintained a specific
schedule with simple rotations containing rest, work, and war itself. The frontline troops
themselves were rotated to ensure that time spent facing the enemy was balanced by periods of
rest and, occasionally, home leave. (British library) This rotation kept the soldiers spirits up
allowing them to rest, then get up and keep fighting. The determination of soldiers to keep
fighting could be strongly influenced by the regularity of this rotation. (British library) The
sanitation of soldiers was very bad this caused many soldiers to be depressed and have a low
morale. They had to crawl around in mud, see their friends die, and shair sleeping space with rats. I

These trenches contained bunkers and other facilities for supporting the front line trench. The
support trench could also be used as a frontline trench in case the frontline trench is over run by the
enemy troops. This trench was placed behind the frontline trench just in case the front line trench
was taken over (Trenches During WWI). According to Trenches During WWI these trenches were
very different from the frontline trenches, unlike the frontline trench instead of being built in zig
zags, it was built in a straight line. Spartacus educational claims that the front line trench and the
support trench were connected by communication trenches that were dug sideways to avoid direct

Which, later on, would give us a valuable explanation. If the rockets with the smaller masses went
significant amounts farther than the rocket s with a much larger mass, that would validate my
hypothesis correct.
PROCEDURES
In the steps provided below, are the methods I used to create my rocket. However, the methods
listed may or may not apply to you. Please be aware.
THE BODY:
Materials needed: A 2L Pop bottle, a black marker, paint, a ruler
, and a roll of masking tape. You
can also use Duct tape instead of masking tape if you prefer. Both works equally.
For the body of my rocket, I decided to cover it with masking tape. If I wanted to prove my
hypothesis correct, this would be the best way to prove my point.
Get your Pop bottle, and start measuring it.
It is much easier when you measure out your Pop bottle, so you know the exact and accurate
placements of wherever you decide to place your fins/cone.
Once you have measured out your Pop bottle, decide where you are going to wrap the masking tape
around.
For my sake, I decided to cover the center of the bottle with masking tape.

She had also taken part in the Civil Disobedience Movement and the Quit India Movement,
where she had been jailed along with other leaders. In her participation of the movements she
opened the eyes of the women of India. She took them out of the old ages where they stayed at
home and cooked in the kitchen. She helped fight for women s rights, and regained the
individual self esteem of India s women. Sarojini had become an icon for India by the time her
life ended in Lucknow, India on March 2, 1949. She had become a distinguished poet, an activist
for women s rights, as well as one of the best political speakers for India of all time. Life: Sarojini
s poem Life defines what life truly is after the bliss of ignorance one experiences as a child. She
begins by explaining that a child s perception of life is a lovely stalactite of dreams, which
symbolizes a child s natural expectation that everything they want or need will be handed to
them from their parents or guardians. Like the dripping of the stalactite, a parent drips money
and time into a child s future by providing their needs and wants for them. Sarojini then continues
by calling life as seen by a child a carnival of careless joys, similar to when a child receives a new
colorful toy, but it is soon forgotten by other new things they receive. In the end of her
description of a child s view of life, she says About your hearts like billows on the deep, in flames

The Failure Of The Treaty Of Versailles
The failure of the Treaty of Versailles in the United States Senate was due to both the opposition of
the treaty in liberal and conservative forces, as well as Woodrow Wilson s stubbornness and
incompetence when deciding the final version of the treaty with imperialism, German restrictions,
and the League of Nations. As World War I
began with the assassination of Archduke Franz
Ferdinand, igniting a conflict between Serbia and Austria Hungary that snowballed into a war with
Great Britain, France, and Russia against Germany, Austria Hungary and Italy. When the war was
over, the Treaty of Versailles
needed to be discussed between the Great Britain, France, Italy, and the
United States. The European demands from the war were fueled by revenge, and their imperialism
countered Wilson s apparent morality. Although isolationists and Republicans desired to influence
the treaty, Wilson had accepted the European demands, and even after altering the treaty for
European gain, he disallowed the treaty from passing twice in the Senate after Henry Cabot Lodge
added reservations. Wilson s influence on the Senate and the Treaty of Versailles led to its defeat in
the United States and ultimately the US absence in the League of Nations. The opposition of the
Treaty of Versailles rose when the European nations contradicted America s values of isolationism
and moral idealism, with various groups in the United States questioning the treaty and its lenience
of European imperialism. Beginning

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... History / Origins According to the company s website, ConocoPhillips can have its origins traced back to 1875, with the Conoco founder Isaac E. Blake having the idea to have kerosene available to the public in an affordable way, in the Ogden, Utah region. In the early twentieth century, the Phillips brothers began drilling with great success. After both companies were strong individual success, they formed a merger ConocoPhillips, with the strengths of oil and gas that merged in 2002 to form a partnership. Being a strong competitor in the industry, the main competitors include the likes of BP, ExxonMobil, etc. Although new competition is quite unlikely, ConocoPhillips must be quite cautious in terms of price sensitivity and integration. The reasoning behind this is the extreme competitive nature of the industry, and the minute differences between the top tiers of competition. The years leading up to the formation of ConocoPhillips were marked by moments of triumph and challenges. Several of these moments highlighted both Conoco and Phillips pioneering spirits. Phillips led the path in innovation by becoming the first company to develop and market propane for home heating and cooking, building the first long distance multi product pipeline and inventing a process to make high octane gasoline possible. Conoco used its pioneering spirit to develop the first filling station in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay on Quebec Nationalism The question of whether Quebec will secede from Canada to become an independent nation has been a hot topic in the country for several years now. It dates back to the abortive rebellions of 1837 38. In 1980, a referendum to secede was rejected by a 60 40 margin. Since then though, the numbers of Quebeckers that want to become sovereign has significantly increased. There is so many questions of what will happen if this does happen. In this paper I plan to take a deeper look at this situation and try to figure out what it would actually be like if Quebecwas its own country. The premier of Quebec, Lucien Bouchard has been attempting to separate from Canada for quite sometime. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They take part in just about all international organizations in existence. Don t get me wrong, there are also many problems within the Country. For instance the rocky relationship between the majority and the indigenous people. There is also a great differential of wealth between regions, and inequalities in personal incomes. Despite all of this, many feel that this is not the reason for Quebec secession. Quebec has 24 percent of the total population of Canada, and 25 percent of its Gross National Product. The majority of Quebec s population is of French descent and language. It reaches approximately 83 percent of the entire province. About 60 percent of the French voted for secession in the 1995 referendum, at a remarkably high turn out, 94 percent of the total electorate. It is noteworthy that of those francophone Quebeckers favoring federalism were the older group over 50 years of age. However, in the younger age group pro secessionists had the majority. The anglophones, allophones, and the indigenous people were all strongly against secession. The premier of Quebec Lucien Bouchard has in fact stated that there will be another referendum. Although under Quebec Law this cannot take place until another provincial election has been held. However, the Government is now more concerned with rebounding Quebec s struggling economy which has struggled as a result of the political ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All the news report in North Korea glorified him as an untouchable person, even the sins he made were being covered by media as well. He s been living like the serpent that hides underneath the flower. And he also is a savage dictator for his country, the truth is that he is just an ambitious man who is losing control. He used tyranny as a weapon to consolidate his position. Unfortunately, one of the most important things he never cared, is his people. All the disaster he brought, all the tragedy he made, all the slaughters he cause. Remind us of another cruel leader, Macbeth a character in William Shakespeare s play. Psychoanalytic Perspective Of Kurtz s Heart Of Darkness Hari Krishnan Period 4 Post AP Literary Theory Dr. Parchesky September 29th, 2017 Psychoanalytic perspective of Kurtz in Heart of Darkness The novel Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad reveals the uncanny similarities between the Europeans and the natives as well as demonstrates why imperialism is not civilizing the natives. Although Conrad often dehumanizes the natives, he still demonstrates that Europeans still are savage in some ways. Kurtz is an example of the savagery still remnant in European culture buried deep within us. Kurtz s journey in the Congo can be seen as his pure primal expression of his id without restraint from his ego and superego. His descent was mainly caused by the dehumanizing aspect of the Congo which the doctor implies by taking initial measurements . His separation from civilization and the station allow for him to forgo the superego and ego because they are not necessary in the Congo where only his primal drives are necessary for survival shown by the natives. The primal and degrading aura of the Congo can be seen when Marlow says It was unearthly, and the men were No, they were not inhuman. (44). This shows that the aura of the Congo is foreign to the Europeans and environmental factors affect their ability to suppress their id like it is more difficult when alone and away from civilization. The return of Kurtz on Marlow s boat leads to the return of his ego and superego because he is with Europeans again which shows what happens after his morality returns. Kurtz is described to be feel very guilty about his actions, and he says things like I am waiting to die which shows his feelings of utter shame of his actions after he represses his id even further. This culminates into his final words the horror, the horror which shows the extreme guilt and shame towards his actions to the natives and his beliefs of imperialism. This also shows how different one person can be when he lets his id run rampant and when he controls it. Kurtz could be civilized European who embodies the initiative of civilizing the natives, while he could also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Homeschooling Disadvantages George Bernard Shaw, an influential Irish writer, once said, My schooling not only failed to teach me what it professed to be teaching but prevented me from being educated to an extent which infuriates me when I think of all I might have learned at home by myself. Many parents have latched onto Shaw s beliefs and have made the audacious decision to home educate. Currently, there are approximately 1,642,027 homeschooled children in the U.S.A. alone. Home educating is an alternative to mainstream public schooling, and it is performed within the home through curriculums, co ops, or online educationsystems. Homeschoolingis advantageous because homeschooled children are proven to perform better academically, they can avoid inimical mainstream schoolsituations, and parents can specialize curriculum in the best interest of their child individually. First and foremost, when a student has a positive environment to be surrounded in, they are able to perform better academically. To start, when children are homeschooled, they continuously have access to highly encouraging parents who push them to do their best. In an article by Johnna Burns, Meehan and Stephenson stated that kids tend to achieve greatly as homeschoolers because the parents are highly encouraging. They also accomplish more socially and academically because adults typically view their children as advanced in comparison to other kids, causing children to live up to that expectation (7). The company depends on each of these core drivers to create opportunities for McDonald s Corporation. During my research I have taken a look at how some of McDonald s competitors measure up to the company. However, in this paper I will be discussing Burger Kings position compared to McDonald s by using some of the recent articles I read about the fast food restaurant business. • 13. Essay on Lucid Dreaming Lucid Dreaming Dreams are the playground of the mind. Anything can happen when one is dreaming. The only limitation is that we only rarely realize the freedoms granted to us in our dreams while we have them. Lucid dreaming is the ability to know when one is dreaming, and be able to influence what will be dreamt. A normal dreamis much like passively watching a movie take place in your skull. In a lucid dream, the dreamer is the writer, director, and star of the movie. Lucid dreams are exceptionally interesting. Lucid dreaming is defined as dreaming when the dreamer knows that they are dreaming. The term was coined during the 1910Г•s by Frederik van Eeden who used the word lucid in the sense of mental clarity (Green, 1968). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The notion that dreams are unconscious processes that should remain so is false. Waking consciousness is always present in dreams. If it were not, we would not be able to remember our dreams, because one can only remember an event that has been consciously experienced. The added consciousness of lucid dreaming is nothing more than the awareness of being in the dream state. The first thing that attracts people to lucid dreaming is often the potential for adventure and fantasy fulfillment. Flying is a favorite lucid dream delight, as is sex. Many people have said that their first lucid dream was the most wonderful experience of their lives. A large part of the extraordinary pleasure of lucid dreaming comes from the exhilarating feeling of utter freedom that accompanies the realization that one is in a dream, where there will be no social or physical consequences of oneГ•s actions. Unfortunately for many people, instead of providing an outlet for unlimited fantasy and delight, dreams can be dreaded episodes of limitless terror. Lucid dreaming may well be the basis of the most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, Pakistanwas not meant to be a theocratic state, in which the rulers of government are vested with the uncontrolled power of religion. Therefore, the problem of minority rights was the cutting edge of all the political debates revolving around the formation of Pakistan. The character development was phenomenal and the main female protagonist was great without being too annoying. But the ending, I feel, was a flop. It was building up to this huge climax and it just didn t feel that exciting when it happened. Other than the ending being a flop this was a great book and I feel that more people should read Neil Shusterman s books because his books are unique from anything else in the YA scene and they will just pull you in from the first sentence. It s five options (1) Christ against Culture, (2) The Christ of Culture, (3) Christ above Culture, (4) Christ and Culture in Paradox, and (5) Christ the Transformer of Culture come in for review and critique. Carson looks principally at Niebuhr s use of Scripture, as it bears on his paradigm. Although Niebuhr s is a commendable attempt to ground his configuration in the foundation documents of the Christian faith, his effort fails in certain respects. Niebuhr s second option (The Christ of Culture), for example, in the words of Carson, is certainly found in historical movements (those obligated to Schleiermacher, F. D. Maurice, or Albrecht Ritschl, the cultural Christians of nineteenth century classical theological liberalism), these movements, however, are of doubtful Christian authenticity and have no warrant in the Bible ; and the fifth (Christ the Transformer of Culture) is found in restricted forms in the New Testament, but certainly not in the strong form Niebuhr would like to see adopted (40). Evaluation The biggest problem for Carson, however, is how Niebuhr ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. The Broken A Having discussed the Broken A , one must now try to define and understand the Broken B , case in point, Antonius Block, the knight from Det sjunde inseglet. Initially, it should be noted, just as it was with the squire, that the knight is also a servant. The knight is a servant of God. This brings into account the first aspect of the Broken B , religiousness and choice. For Kierkegaard and Judge William, the character and narrator of B , religiosity and ethical choice come hand in hand. Choose yourself! , as Mooney would claim the B would tell to the A , as A properly ethical self will ...develop the personal, the civic, the religious virtues, and his life proceeds through his constantly translating himself from one stage to the next . ... If these are true to the B , where the religiosity of the individual plays a part in their existence, and then added on top of that their ethics is connected to the religious as well, one ends up with the idea that ethical choice can be made only through these means. If that is the case for the B , then the knight will only continue to suffer. For the knight, who cannot escape the trap of brokenness he is sharing with the squire, this has profound implications. • 22. Mormon Stereotypes Mormonism, the largest church to originate on American soil is not without its own burdens to bear. As one of the younger religions, one that strayed from the foundations of the other already established religions in the United States, it is often viewed with negativity and mockery. Modern day social media, television, news articles and movies often exploit Mormon beliefs. They twist and exaggerated certain facets of the Mormon way of life. This framing of their belief system by the media leads the public opinion toward viewing this representation as a true depiction of the Mormons. Some of the more extreme behaviors exhibited by members that have separated from the main group are used against the entire faith by the media, so in turn this extremist view has become a Mormon stereotype. History of Mormonism The Mormon faith dates back to the year 1830 when Joseph Smith, the founder along with 5 other men gathered together to form what they initially called The Church of Christ. This was later changed to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Moving to Palmyra, New York in 1816 with his parents and seven siblings, Joseph Smith and his family found themselves confused and troubled by the opposing churches in the area. The production overall was slightly above average. There were aspects of the musical that worked perfectly to go along with the main seed of redemption. Ideas and concepts of relationships, redemption, and continuity were successfully and less than successfully shared through this play. I will be going over how I believe The Spitfire Grillconnected itself to the seed of redemption through what I saw and felt throughout the show. Waiting for the show to start was actually when the production started. While I sat in the house for the show to start, the smell of someone s coffee filled the room. I was momentarily distracted by trying to figure out who was the coffee culprit and how their cup of coffee could be so potent that I could still smell it with only five minutes until show time. As I gave up that hunt, I read the plays brochure and brought up a summary of the play on my phone. I quickly put two and two together: 1) The Spitfire Grill is a breakfast hub and 2) coffee is a breakfast staple. The house having an aroma of freshly brewed coffee was completely intentional and lasted all throughout the first act. Analysis Of The Movie The Graduate Essay Edward Brambila English 2 Prof. Sosner 12/16/2016 The Art of Symbolism in The Graduate The movie The Graduate is a struggle story of a fine caliber that falls under the genre of comedic drama. Some might even argue that it was one of the best films of its time and even till this day. The way the movie blends characters is anything but superficial and its use of symbolism to describe said characters leaves little more to be desired. While some may not like the movie and say it falls short the movie has proper use of symbolism through the use of multiple props, it also uses symbolic statements as a way to strengthen Dustin Hoffman s character s archetype and clue in on specific details which in turn shows us the relationships between him and other characters. Of the many symbolic details the first two we encounter at the very beginning of the film are cluing us in on the character of Dustin Hoffman who is known as Benjamin Braddock. The two details happen almost simultaneously, one being the song The Sound of Silence by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel and the other is the symbolic action of him sliding across the screen on an airport conveyor belt. The first detail, the song, suggests that the character Benjamin or Ben is lost in the world. He has no idea where to go from this point in his life forward. He is lost in the darkness of life and is directionless. The second detail is the conveyor belt which forcibly moving him along. This conveys the fact that throughout ... Bartyzel also provided accounts from mothers who support her claim by expressing that their daughters behavior had been shaped by princess culture. Additionally, Disney routinely overshadows the darkness of traditional fairy tales with overly idealistic narratives and has a history of depicting harmful racial stereotypes, problematic female characterizations, and unrealistic storylines (Bartyzel, 2015). The Dualist view of life after death also has its flaws. The idea of the body having no characteristics unless it has a soul is absurd. The appearance of the body is a characteristic which isn t determined but the Soul. I do feel that the Materialist view is the stronger. Even though it does relay on slightly flawed logic. Even though this view is very much like the Christian view there are some major contradictions between the replica theory and part of Luke s gospel. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Ephemeral Repertoire Of Embodied Knowledge What Connerton calls incorporating practices and Taylor calls the repertoire affirms the need to prioritize unstable pieces of evidence, traditionally ignored or skeptically criticized in histories of Williams which favor normative assessment. Taylor describes that the rift, I submit does not lie between the written and spoken word, but between the archive of supposedly enduring materials (i.e., texts, documents, buildings, bones) and the so called ephemeral repertoire of embodied practice/knowledge (i.e., spoken language, dance, sports, ritual). For this study, Taylor s point is well taken as a means of dismembering critical hegemony. Taylor s research highlights the archive as a site of several myths concerning how authoritarian... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This process provides a framework to value anti normative, embodied memories to unsettle the dominance of normative interpretations of Williams s texts resulting from canonization. When considering Eddie Dowling s production of Glass Menagerie, an emphasis on memory helps escape the bias towards realism during the 1940s. During this period, an assumed realism connected with Clifford Odets, Lillian Hellman, and Eugene O Neill s realistic plays were the standard for commercially viable Broadway audiences. From the beginning, critics sought to reframe Menagerie to fit within the constraints of other commercial dramas of the period such as Lillian Hellman s The Little Foxes and William Saroyan s Time of Your Life. Incorporated memories drawn from the theatrical practitioners contradict the bias toward realism. None of them read Menagerie as a realistic play. The connection between Menagerie and an assumed realism requires rereading the history that equates the immense popularity of Williams s anti normative text with the commercial success which affirms realism as the form that will appeal most to audience members. An understanding that Menagerie can be interpreted in multiple ways is easily demonstrated by the plethora of books which set out to do just that. Normative inscription makes ... • 44. The Critique Of The Milgram Experiment A particular experiment that I found intriguing so far in this class was The Milgram Experiment, which was conducted by psychologist Stanley Milgram in 1963. The whole experiment was based around obedience, particularly the conflict between obedience as related to authority and a person s inner conscience (McLeod). Milgram got the idea for the study after the Nuremburg War Criminals trial since many of the ones that were being tried claimed to just be following orders from a higher authority (McLeod). This famous experiment took place soon after the trial of Adolf Eichmannwhich left Milgram with the question, Could it be that Eichmann and his million accomplices in the Holocaust were just following order? Could we call them Accomplices? People that took part in this experiment were males where one was the learner and the other was the teacher. However, what the participants did not know was that the learner was actually a confederate, or a person that is directly involved in the experiment, that way the other person was always the teacher. The two were in separate rooms, with the teacher s room containing a researcher and an electric shock generator and the switches which ranged from 15 volts to 450 volts which was deadly. As the experiment began the learner was strapped to a chair where they then hooked electrodes to him. He was then given a list of paired words and was told to memorize them, the teacher then tested him by naming one of the words in the pair ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The determination of soldiers to keep fighting could be strongly influenced by the regularity of this rotation. • 50. The Failure Of The Treaty Of Versailles The failure of the Treaty of Versailles in the United States Senate was due to both the opposition of the treaty in liberal and conservative forces, as well as Woodrow Wilson s stubbornness and incompetence when deciding the final version of the treaty with imperialism, German restrictions, and the League of Nations. As World War I began with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, igniting a conflict between Serbia and Austria Hungary that snowballed into a war with Great Britain, France, and Russia against Germany, Austria Hungary and Italy. When the war was over, the Treaty of Versailles needed to be discussed between the Great Britain, France, Italy, and the United States. The European demands from the war were fueled by revenge, and their imperialism countered Wilson s apparent morality. Although isolationists and Republicans desired to influence the treaty, Wilson had accepted the European demands, and even after altering the treaty for European gain, he disallowed the treaty from passing twice in the Senate after Henry Cabot Lodge added reservations. Wilson s influence on the Senate and the Treaty of Versailles led to its defeat in the United States and ultimately the US absence in the League of Nations. The opposition of the Treaty of Versailles rose when the European nations contradicted America s values of isolationism and moral idealism, with various groups in the United States questioning the treaty and its lenience of European imperialism.
