Bible Justice
Justice is something, that I believe, each and every person in this world deeply desires. But, justice
does not mean the same thing for every individual. Justice, in fact, can have many different
meanings. To the majority, justice means fairness or equality. However, in the Bible, the word
justice is sometimes translated judgment and righteousness (Hollinger, 2009). At times, God s
justiceis linked to God s holiness (Hollinger, 2009) and on other occasions, God s justice is what
meets the demands of God s holiness and retributive justice or judgment, thereby procuring
human salvation through Christ s death on the cross (Hollinger, 2009). In the beautiful passage
of Scripture, Micah 6:6 8, Israel asks the Lord what He desires of them. Israel had been a very
disobedient group of people and were unsure how to come before the Lord, because their sin had
distanced them from Him. They were asking the Lord if they should bring sacrifices, such as a
burnt offering, with calves a year old (Micah 6:6, New International Version) or... Show more

When instead, the Lord desires me to accomplish the three commands stated in Micah 6:8. God
instructs me to love mercy, to walk humbly with God and to do justice. To do justice (Micah 6:8,
New International Version), means to do what is right or good. Justice is right living in all areas
of life (Hollinger, 2009). Biblical justice is also associated with fairness and integrity (Hollinger,
2009). Justice is also a special concern for the oppressed, the poor, and those who lack the means
of self sufficiency (Hollinger, 2009). To put it another way, biblical justice is to bec[o]me
concerned about the most vulnerable, poor and marginalized members of our society, and ma[k]e

Does online social networking hinder the development of...
The 21st century has seen the internet transformed into a tool that has made communication easier
and more accessible. This transformation came about side by side with ideas of online social
networks that would enable the interaction of citizens of different countries. Teenagers, being the
main players of the online generation, have been caught up in the mix of online social networks as
they have grown into a period whereby technology has revolutionized the way people go about their
daily activities. However, due to the excessive amount of time spent on these networks and the
online freedom that teenagers have, granted from social networking sites, they are left prone to
negative effects on their development. For the purposes of this... Show more content on

Furthermore, from a 2010 nationwide survey of more than 1000 girls aged 14 17 conducted by
Girl Scouts of America, girls with low self esteem admitted that their online image did not match
their real image and were more likely to claim that they portrayed it as sexy (Muscari).
Therefore, online social networking use should be monitored primarily on the creation of user
identities to prevent teenagers from developing exaggerated identities which do not match who
they really are. Furthermore, the exaggeration of personalities may lead to confusion between
who a teenager really is and who he/she portrays to the online realm. The terms of service of
these online social networks require a user to be age 13 or above (Facebook Terms of service).
Erik Erikson, a developmental psychologist who studied identity formation argues that this age
correlates with the stage of identity versus identity confusion [whereby] teenagers seek to find out
who they are, what they are all about, and where they are going in life (Cowie). This confusion
could be detrimental to the development of teenagers as it might lead to identity crises or lack of
identity and other types of depression diseases associated with it. Thus, online social networks
hinder adolescent identity formation because they allow them to exaggerate their personalities and
form new identities which can lead to identity confusion and associated disorders. Secondly, without
supervision, the

Systems Analysis And Design Of Iain s Co
Systems Analysis and Design
Help sheet:
Introduction:
For this unit I have been asked to produce a database for Iain s Co who are a large building
service company, but before that I have to plan everything out by analysing and designing the
database for the company s newly taken over smaller company.
Scenario:
Iain s Co are a large building company who at present have employed IT technicians in order for
their technical aspects to be managed and to also support the IT users in the company. In recent
time Iain s Co s have taken over a smaller company who require some help with their database as
they want to include some new features that can improve and link both company data s together in
order to manage the two sites on one database.
Outline principles of systems analysis:
What is a system analysis?
A system analysis is a data processing method that is widely used in the business department for
breaking down a problem into different parts to reduce the difficulty of the problem and identifying
the needs to solve the problem more easily and more efficiently.
This will be helping Iain s Co greatly because they need a system that can break down problems so
that it reduces the difficulty of the problem.
What is an SSADM?
Structured Systems Analysis and Design Method is also more commonly known as SSADM,
which is an amalgamation of text and diagrams through the entire life cycle of a system design,
from the planning of the design idea to the actual design of the

Vice Admiral James Bond Stockdale s Integrity In Vietnam
In the words of Vice Admiral James Bond Stockdale, USN, integrity consists of knowing one s
situation through education and thus understanding the limit of your responsibility. Stockdale, a
former Vietnam P.O.W., writes the importance of integrity in The World of Epictetus. In September
of 1965, Commander Stockdale ejected from his plane only to be captured by the Vietcong during
the Vietnam War. In eight years of captivity, the Northern Vietnamese tortured and isolated
Stockdale; and in that time, he observed the actions of his men. He witnessed honorable, high
ranking officers cave into their oppressors, while common soldiers refuted any luxuries offered.
Stockdale did not solely witness actions, but integrity; how a man acts when... Show more content

James Bond Stockdale did not choose to become a prisoner of war, but he accepted it. He
understood the reality of his situation and chose to make the most of it. He did not succumb to
threats and maintained his morality. The decisions made when tempted or in a state of chaos
emblematizes integrity. Integrity alone did not get Stockdale through Vietnam, his education in
history and the classics comforted him. Through knowledge of Vietnam s history, he discovered
that the Vietnamese were once held prisoners. Unfortunately, history tends to repeat itself; using
this logic, Stockdale sympathized with the guards and understood their anger and the
mistreatment of the P.O.W.s. The knowledge of literature gave solace and answered why he of
all people became a prisoner. Life is not fair, how one deals with these obsticles determines their
fate. In my own personal account, Stockdale s theories accurately describe life. His methods of
dealing and overcoming hardship resembles a code of ethics that I too follow and believe. What
defines integrity cannot be expressed in words, only

Victorian Era Wedding
Marriage in the Victorian time period was carefully contemplated, as Rosenberg addresses that
Wedding ceremonies were seen as an expression of Victorian social values that that the Queen
wished to renounce, while on the other hand, such occasions were viewed as having national and
collective significance (Rosenberg 98). Love played a very tiny role in the Victorian Era
marriages. An engagement was more approached as a business deal. Once married all possessions
went to the husband as property. Anatolyevna emphasizes how Victorian weddings should be
transformed from a formalized procedure to a celebration, a holiday for a young couple in honor of
their initiation (Anatolyevna 1) The Marriageand WeddingCustoms of the Victorian time... Show

Because it all depended on your wealth on whom you were going to spend the rest of your life
with. For example, if you were un employed you were not eligible to marry an employed man or
women. Queen Victoria believed that if you were not in the same wealth class you wouldn t be
reliable in your marriage. Although, the Victorian time age was very serve, the exceptional
backgrounds were very thought provoking. Furthermore, the Victorian era wedding customs
were stimulating because of their uniqueness. Dawn Hurst demonstrates how A Church bell at
the beginning of the ceremony [drives] out evil forces, and it was considered lucky to drop
wedding rings, which would free the rings from any inhabiting spirits (Hurst 1). This is very
distinctive because research states that there are barely any people who do weddings like this
anymore. People are less likely to achieve this tradition because the marriages now aren t very
organized and rushed. While the Victorian time period wedding traditions were unique they were
also very elegant during the time period. Lastly the Victorian age wedding customs were attention
grabbing because of their elegance. A Victorian wedding is all about class and grace. Queen
Victoria was the one who set the trend for white wedding gowns and white floral arrangements.
Now in modern day weddings, people have made up myths and different assumptions of the white
wedding gown. But in the Victorian time when the white gowns were

1968 Revolution Research Paper
Driving Forces, Responses and Legacies of the 1968 Uprisings
The movements for change across Europe in 1968 differed between Eastern and Western Europe
due to the catalysts and the responses they provoked (because of differing political systems), but
the revolts across Europe in 1968 left similar legacies of improved living conditions, dГ©tente and
cultural freedom in both Eastern and Western Europe.
Due to a few Eastern Europe countries demanding political freedom and Western Europe
demanding freedom from capitalism, the reasons for the movements of change across Europe in
1968 differed greatly. In Eastern Europe, (most notably in Czechoslovakia) citizens tried to gain
political freedom from the USSR through uprisings. When Leonid Brezhnev ... Show more content

Comedy Analysis
During this unit, my understanding of humor in literature evolved from believing that it was simply
comic relief to grasping that humor is an entertaining method of conveying a universal truth through
many different methods. Comedy comes in countless shapes and sizes, which all have different
purposes and appeal to a variety of audiences. However, although the forms of humorare diverse,
Springboard Activity 4.3 expresses that they can be categorized as either low comedy, which is
straightforward and generally easy to follow and understand (1) or high comedy, which can take a
bit of reflection to realize the humorous intent (4). Naturally, high and low comedy have different
purposes in comedic literature. An author might use high comedy to... Show more content on

Additionally, we studied another form of high comedy, situational irony. To demonstrate, in A Day s
Work , an excerpt from The Adventures of Tom Sawyer , Mark Twain reports that while Tom
had to whitewash on a beautiful day when he would rather be playing, he ended up conning his
friends into doing his work for him while he sat back and enjoyed the so called treasures that
they gave to him so they could do his work, including a dead rat and a string to swing it with (44)
and a brass door knob (44). Despite having a slight understanding of what irony was before this
unit, I had never heard of situational irony before. Situational irony leads readers to believe that
the story is going in one direction, then suddenly revealing a twist that makes it humorous. If I
were to have read this excerpt before learning about situational irony and its aspects, I would have
been thoroughly confused. However, now that I have been introduced to this idea, I can understand
and enjoy the often comical product of situational irony. Even though Tom had been willing to give
up some of his treasures at the beginning, by the end he was rolling in riches without lifting a finger.

Evolution is the process by which a population shows heritable genetic changes over a period of
time. Hypothetically, a unique bird adapted to the rainforest and passed on those traits to the
next generation. This bird lacks feathers, swims, and uses its extra sharp beak in order to survive
in a rainy, humid, and tropical environment with other animals. If the bird lives in the Daintree
Rainforest, it would have to adapt to an average of 2013 mm of rain per year, about 120 days of
rain each year, and floods due to the heavy rain. With this abundance of water, flora and fauna
thrive. Fruit, flowers, insects and spiders, baby opossums, and lizards are available for our
featherless bird. Although, it tends to stay away from more vicious

Learning Disabilities Disadvantages
In the early 1960 s Samuel Kirk an American educator and psychologist, founded the term known
as learning disabilities. This came about after he had visited with a few groups of parents a few
times to discuss why these parents children seem to have small amounts of success even when they
are able to understand and comprehend just like other children. As a result of these meetings the
LearningDisabilities Association of America was formed (Pullen, 27). Then later in the mid 1970 s
the Educationfor All Handicapped Children Act was put into law which formally identified the
concept of learning disabilities (Pullen, 25). After these things were put in place, there was over
10 different descriptions of what learning disabilities can be based off of. For this concept, it
will be known as the following description. Learning Disabilities (LD) are created when there is
a space between a person s ability to think and reason and not their understanding based on the
results from tests. It is known that around 4 to 5 percent of adolescents are considered to have
LD. There are a few reasons why LD can occur. Boys are more prone than girls, African Americans
and Latinos are more prone than Whites and Asians. Most adolescents with LD struggle with many
academic areas especially in reading. They also have difficulties with interacting with others,
expressing their feelings and understanding the feelings of others. Last, is that adolescents with LD
have a high chance of dropout rates

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Ordinary Portland Cement
General
Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) is most widely used cementitious material and is the second
most consumed resource in the world as it forms the basic ingredient in concrete and Bricklayer
Joseph Aspdin of Leeds, England first prepared Portland cement early in the 19th century by
sweltering powdered limestone and clay in his kitchen stove [13]; this laid the foundation for an
industry to develop a binder called ordinary Portland cement. The major applications of concrete in
the construction field such as infrastructure, habitation and transportation have greatly influenced in
affecting the economic progress by improving the stability and quality of life to a very wide extent.
However, inherent disadvantages are that production of Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) using raw
materials such as limestone and clay are depleting and quarrying of them is causing the source for
environmental degradation. OPC production involves a very high energy intensive and exothermic
process, as because it consumes 4Gj energy and produces about one ton of carbon dioxide, where it
significantly contributes to 5% of global carbon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

some of the diseases that human do, for example Parkinson s disease, major types of heart

medicine research may caused fatal dangerous. For example, Vioxx (drug used to treat arthritis)
was tested on monkeys and five other animal species and found to be safe, but has been caused
around 320,000 heart attacks and strokes, and 140,000 deaths worldwide.
Because of the different perception on support or refuse animal experiment, conflict happened

The Conch Shell In Lord Of The Flies
According to the merriam webster dictionary, the definition of symbolism; artistic imitation or
invention that is a method of revealing or suggesting immaterial, ideal, or otherwise intangible
truth or states. In the book the Lord of the flies, various things are used as symbols to show a
truth or some type of relationship. One of the biggest symbolic things in the book was the conch
shell. The conch shell was originally founded on a waves upwash during the very first stages of
the book. Just like items had a certain meaning, color had symbolic meanings as well. The color of
the shell was creamy white which symbolizes; purity, innocence, fairness, and honor. The conch
shell in Lord of the Flies begins as a symbolfor authority, later on it becomes disconnected
between the boys, and concludes as being ignored and basically destroyed. As the boys are
stranded on the deserted island, in order to survive they copy civilization just like back in
England. Authority such as rules and a head chief was much needed. In their quest of the
finding such similarities, they come across the conch shell creamy white by the ocean. The
group of boys take it as a symbol of authority inside the group. Ralph, the main character and the
boy who originally found the conch blew it to assemble the group of boys. Minutes go by and
Ralph is picked due to the fact that the conch is in his possession. The group of boys used
meetings as a way to talk about problems. In fact, the process of this to

The Utilitarian theory of property seeks to maximize the population s utility when a property
decision is made, the greatest good for the greatest amount of people. To apply this theory one
must define and aggregate a measure of utility comparable for all people in a cost benefit
analysis. A popular measure for utility, under the welfarist economics utilitarian view, is utilizing
the price a person is willing to pay for a good or service as the value aggregated in the cost benefit
analysis. However, a strict welfarist utilitarian analysis will not work in this instance because

Price seems to be the best measure for utility as almost anything can be commodified and priced
by members of the population. Furthermore, other economic measures, such as how a decision
increases a person s wealth, will not reach the full population affected by this decision as some
parties, like tourists do not have their wealth increased by such a public property decision.
Determining the value that individuals place on the property in question on Beacon Hill, the
historic sidewalks and ramps necessitates looking into the different groups of interested
individuals affected by the Beacon Hill handicapped ramp decision. Individuals with disabilities
that require accessible handicapped ramps pose a problem for determining a value these
individuals would give the Beacon Hill handicapped ramp decision. This is because Beacon Hill
serves many different functions to people. For those people with disabilities that live on Beacon
Hill, updated handicapped ramps could mean the difference having access to their homes or
having to move. For this group it is easy to determine a value of welfare and benefit they derive
from Beacon Hill as the price they are willing to pay to live in the area. Next still within the
category of persons with disabilities is the value to such persons of their ability to get to their jobs.

Protien Molecules Research Paper
The production of protien molecules happends in two stages, transcription and translation.
Transciption takes place in the nucleus. First, DNA in the nucleus, its double stranded in eukaryote
cells. DNA molecule unfolds forming two templates of DNA. RNA polymerase attaches itself to a
template of DNA and synthesizes mRNA. DNAcontains the cistrons/genes which code for specific
polypeptides. The part of the strand that forms the cistron is called the transcribing strand. It acts as
a template and is transcribed to mRNA. The complementary strand which does not carry the cistron
is called the non transcribing strand. An enzyme RNApolymerase attaches itself to the promoter site
next to the cistron on the DNA and initiates transcription. The enzymes... Show more content on

During the process of transcription, an enzyme called RNA polymerase binds to DNA at a gene
s promoter, then begins unwinding the DNA and making a complementary strand of RNA from
the exposed DNA template. Depending on the gene being transcribed, the result can be a molecule
of mRNA (messenger RNA), tRNA (transfer RNA), or rRNA (ribosomal RNA). Each type of
RNA performs a specific function later in translation. Ribosomal RNA (rRNA) along with
ribosomal proteins make up ribosomes, the workbenches on which polypeptides (proteins) are
synthesized. It turns out that it is actually rRNA, and not a protein, in the large subunit of the
ribosome that performs the peptidyl transferase function of linking amino acids together via
peptide bonds. In eukaryotes, the genes coding for rRNAs are located in the nucleolus of the
nucleus. A ribosome has 3 binding sites: an A (aminoacyl) site, a P (peptidyl) site, and an E (exit)
site. The message carrying the information needed to make a particular polypeptide exists in the
mRNA molecule. It binds with a ribosome and the ribosome starts reading it one codon 3

A Day At 07.45 Using A Code
On 30th December 2015 I was on duty. I reported to the reception at 07.45 using a code at the
device from the entrance as I am working in a Care Home where the residents suffer from
Dementia and due to their condition related with memory loss, they need to be protected so that
they can not leave and not be able to remember the way back in accordance with SOVA legislation.
I used my fog to clock in and also signed the staff book so that in case of fire the place would need
to be evacuated.
Then I changed my clothes and put on my uniform and my black shoes, put all my belongings
into my locker including my phone, tied my hair up and checked for my uniform to look nice and
to have my badge with my name on it; all in accordance with company Policies and Procedures.
I washed my hands and at 7.55 I went to the floor ready for work. I have checked the board to see
which unit I was allocated to. I was working on Thames Unit and my team was made up of 5
care assistants and one nurse. The nurse did the hand over regarding all changes and concerns
from night staff and then she allocated each of us 3 residents. My residents were MR J, MR B
and MRS M ( obviously these are pseudonyms in order to maintain confidentiality in accordance
with Nursing and Midwifery Council NMC 2015 Code of Conduct).
Next step was to read the care plans of the residents allocated to me, although I am key worker for
two of the residents allocated to me namely MR J And MRS M, to see if any changes

Similarities Between The Taming Of The Shrew
Good morning Mrs Fredman and class. Today I am going to talk about how faithful the film 10

them both to show why I think the modern movie is faithful to Shakespeare s play. I ll be

Today I will talk about several similarities between the film and the play. Some similarities are that
they are both set in Padua but more specifically the film was set in Padua High School and the
play is set in the Italian town of Padua. In the play Bianca the younger sister couldn t marry until
the older sister Katerina did so because back in Shakespeare s day it was a must that the elder sister

Mahatma Gandhi Swadeshi
This paper posits to discuss in detail the impact of Gandhi and his style of mobilization on the
policies and culture of the Indian Subcontinent. Mahatma Gandhi, (1869 1948), was born Mohandas
Karamchand Gandhi in Porbandar, Gujarat, in North West India. His father was an administrator in
Porbandar, while his mother was a devout religious personality. Mahatma Gandhi is generally
regarded to be the Father of the modern Indian nation, on account of his role in shaping its modern
history. Gandhi, an accomplished lawyer and human rights campaigner, initially in South Africa,
made his debut into the Indian political scene in 1915. As the foremost leader in the Indian
independence movement, Gandhi acquired international repute, and his policy of peaceful civil
resistance has over the decades offered inspiration for political movements, and civil rights
campaigns across the globe. In addition to developing non violent strategies for political struggle,
he influenced the Indian regeneration program that spearheaded the struggle for Indian
independence.
Gandhi s philosophy of non violence resistance transcended every other attribute of his vision
concerning the Indian subcontinent, including the Indian regeneration program. This program
entailed diverse interrelated strategies that are considered to be the fundamental components of the
swadeshi spirit, Satyagraha, as well as the constructive program. The swadeshi spirit denoted the
superior canon of non violence that guided and

The Economic, Military and Political Power of the Union...
The economic, military, and political power of the Union was much greater than the Confederacy.
Still, the war did go on for four years. The Confederacy demonstrated itself strong many times.
Throughout the war the struggles continuously shifted, and because of that, so did the economic,
military, and political strength of both sides. Although both sides saw accomplishments of military
successes, at the end of the war, the bigger economy of the north, centralized government and
overpowering manpower would eventually lead to a northern victory. In 1863, it was up in the air
because either the Union or the Confederacy could have won the war, but the Confederacy did not
have enough manpower to outlast the Union in a drawn out war. The Union was seemingly far
more advanced in terms of industrialization compared to the South. The North was in control of
about 80% of United States industry (McPherson, 24). Also, most of the Confederate industry was
not located in the Deep South but rather the Upper South, mostly in Virginia. After Deleware, West
Virginia, Kentucky and Maryland joind the Uninion, the Confederacy continued to lose large
amounts of possible industry and manpower. The Confederacy lost these states due to the clever
politics of the North such as the state of Maryland, as it was to the opposition within certain states
such as West Virginia. With the loss of these four states the confederate industry would start to
decline and could not compete with the industry in the

Classic Vehicle Valuation
What Can You Do to Increase Your Classic Vehicle Valuation? It s a beautiful morning and you re

something that could negatively affect the valuation of your vehicle? The answer may surprise you.
A classic car isn t just expected to be running. Let s look at the top 5.5 things you can do to ensure
your classic vehicle continues an upward valuation. 1. Parts When your vehicle was manufactured,

a classic car that works... like it did in its heyday. One of the biggest contributors to overall
classic car value is the operation of the engine, transmission, steering, the state of the
undercarriage and the, of course, general wear and tear such as mileage. 5.5 Original
Documentation This doesn t necessarily guarantee an increase in value but simply because of
how rare it is to have the original showroom documentation for classic vehicles, it does tend to be
in the very least a cool addition to the vehicle s history and authenticity. All these things
contribute to a category rating used to determine the value of your classic car. You should check
with your insurance provider to see whether there has been an increase in value of your prized
possession. The chances are, because we re dealing with classics, each year or every other year,
there may be an adjustment in the valuation of your vehicle. Happy

The Impact Of Ansel Adams On The Conservation Movement
Assess the impact of Ansel Adams as an influential figure in the conservation movement Intro
America s National Parks are deeply indebted to the American photographer Ansel Adams. Through
his masterful photography, he turned Yosemite National Park into an American icon. Ansel spent
the majority of his life fighting for the National Parks through intense political activism. He was a
key figure in conservation in the United States, beginning in a time when environmental
conservation was a rare concept.
From a young age he showed uncommon interest in wilderness and the outdoors and grew into one
of the personalities most responsible for defining what American wilderness means. In his twenties,
Ansel demonstrated incredible mastery of the young art form of photography. Through his
friendships and collaboration with other artists and environmentalists and through his many
prestigious art shows and published collections he gained fame. He used his fame, strong personal
voice and persuasive activism for environmental conservation causes such as ... and for
environmental organizations such as the Sierra Club and the Wilderness Society. In particular, Ansel
Adams was inspired and captivated by Yosemite at a young age and found the mountains to be his

Monotheistic Religion In The Paleolithic And Neolithic Period
Paleolithic: The Paleolithic period lasted from about 200,000 b.c. to about 10,000 b.c. It was the
early phase of the Stone Age; and encompassed a steady development of stone tools, antler and
bone artifacts, engraving on bone and stone, and paintings on the walls of caves and rock
structures. There was not much structure built or agriculture done in this period as the people lived
a nomadic lifestyle, migrating with the herds of animals they hunted for food.
Neolithic: The Neolithic period lasted from about 9000 b.c. to about 8000 b.c. It was the last phase
of the Stone Age; and encompassed the domestication of animals, the development of agriculture,
and the manufacturing of pottery and textiles. During this period people were beginning to settle
and develop a more sedentary way of life. With this type of life style came territorial issues,
meaning that because of the idea of settling and claiming land people would be more likely to
protect it or fight for it.
Monotheism: The basic definition of monotheism is the belief in one God. The opposite of
polytheism, which is the belief in many Gods, who each serve a different purpose. However, for a
monotheistic religion, the God is all knowing, all seeing and all powerful; this God would be the
sole creator and provider. There are three major religions associated with monotheism, Judaism,
Christianity and Islam.

characters, but the two main characters are Elizabeth and Shylock. They are both very strong

other characters in the novel. Female characters in the novel believe that looking good,
behaving well and keeping their feelings to themselves is very important, Elizabeth isn t

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Electron Microscope
INTRODUCTION
Electron microscopes are generally microscopes that use electrons as a source of illumination to
create an image, unlike light microscopes that relays on light. One of these types of microscopes
is Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), This microscope uses electrons to scan the surface of a
sample giving an observer a highly magnified image of the sample. The electron microscope has
been an amazing tool for research purposes around the world for many decades and the technique
was discovered and developed throughout the years.
A SEM consist of a column that is situated at the top which generates an electron beam, and at the
bottom there is a sample stage, a thermionic cathode in the column is heated up by an electric

Another limitation to this technique is that it s expensive to buy and to maintain.
SEM is limited to solid samples so all the liquids and gaseous materials cannot be viewed under this
microscope, also samples that cannot withstand vacuum pressures cannot be viewed under this
equipment. Since the scanning electron microscope is more focused on the surface it cannot
accurately give information about the bulk at once. For samples that are not metallic like
biological samples like tissues and cells coating is necessary since they are not electrically
conductive, this becomes a limitation because a living cell cannot be viewed since coating would

When the crusaders started to arrive in Venice, the Venetians, in accordance with the treaty of

to one chronicles, Geoffrey de Villehardouin, the ships the Venetians had built could have carried

Without the Treaty of Venice the entire diversion might never have happened, as the crusaders
would not have needed the money offered by Alexius IV in exchange for their help reclaiming the
Byzantine throne. The relationship the Republic of Venice had with the Byzantine Empireby the
time of the crusade might have influenced their willingness in diverting the crusade to
Constantinople, as for them there was more to gain from placing an emperor friendly to Venetians
on the throne than simply saving the crusade. Still, the influence of the Venetians on the diversion
must not be overestimated. It is easy to look back on history, knowing where a journey such as the
Fourth Crusade will end, and assume people were able to foresee everything that would be about
to happen. This ignorance can be recognized in the sources written by Geoffrey de Villehardouin
and Robert de Clari, they saw the compromise of diverting the crusade to Zara as a reason for
celebration, unaware of the unfortunate consequences this would bring. Therefore, if there is
anything we can learn from history is that trying to predict the future will most likely be futile. Yet
it is still important to acknowledge our history, especially the dark pages such as the Fourth
Crusade. Religious fanaticism resulting in violence is an issue that is still not resolved in today s

Elizabeth Anscombe Intention
Elaborate on Elizabeth Anscombe s account of the relation between acting intentionally and acting
for a reason.
Introduction
During the course of this assignment we will explore whether whatever is done intentionally is
done for a reason by taking a look at Anscombe s set of notes called Intention. Elizabeth Anscombe
was one of the most influential women philosophers and a very important twentieth century
philosopher. She translated some of Ludwig Wittgenstein s work; hence the references in her book
Intention.
My understanding of the relation between acting intentionally and acting for a reason was found by
understanding the concepts she defines and analyses which are mostly found in the early stages of
her notes. Anscombe defines intention as acting under a description . What distinguishes us rational
agents is the capacity to step outside ourselves and deliberate about different possible courses of
action i.e. we can think hypothetically. This capacity appears to be evident in language. It enables
us not only to act voluntarily but also intentionally.
Different Senses of Intention
An agent is in the privileged position to declare one s intentions. The description of one s actions
and one s intentions are the same. Anscombe starts off her notes by describing three different ways
in which we speak about intention in our language:

Management has been proficient a long time period. Organized endeavors focused by people

thousands of years.
As the initial days of systematic commercial and structural study, philosophers have contended that
companies can understand aids using either more traditional or more modern management methods.
For example, Taylor, Weber and Fayol were well known societal researchers that advocated a

The Importance Of Decision Making In Public Administration
Decision making is very vital in the study of administration. Decision making is the act of deciding
the best choice or alternative that brings success or advantage to a situation that will ensure
maximum benefits and least risk. Probability can be applied to decision making in public
administration because it is possible to estimate the probabilityof occurrence of specific events. A
part of decision making in relationship to public administration has to do with goals. The
probability of you meeting those goals depends on decision making. For example a restaurant
owner has received more revenue on Thursdays than on any other day And less Revenue on
Saturdays than any other day. The owner has looked at everything that could have influenced his
sales. The owner realized that the only things that were different on Thursdays than any other day
was the chief special and the drink special. According to the receipts of the last four Thursdays the
probability that a customer orders a drink special is 60%. The probability that a customer orders
the chief special is 50%. The probability of them ordering both is 42%. This shows the restaurant
owner that Thursdays drink special should be considered on both Thursdays and Saturdays.
Effective decision making is very important on how probability can be applied therefore effective
decision making must be rational. As mentioned before, people who are deciding rationally are
attempting to reach goals in a systematic way. They make sure

Facebook Password Essay
Sharing Facebook Password
Employers and schools nowadays evaluate applicants from their social media accounts. For
example, the applicant s Facebook profile could be used to get information such as age, residence
and even academic history. What worries Joanna Stern in the article, Demanding Facebook
Passwords May Break Law, Say Senators is the fact that employers and schools require employees
and students to give their Facebook passwords to access their profiles. This practice poses
unanticipated legal liabilities. Thus, government officials have rose against the practice. Indeed,
requiring a user to share Facebook account s password for access to the user s profile is morally
wrong and does not meet its intended objective.
The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such information could cause organizations to make wrong conclusions on a user based on the
wrongful information on the user.
However, this practice has been noted to be beneficiary in understanding the character of an
employee or student. Going through their profiles would reveal more on their relationships and
interactions with other people. This would help organizations get the rightful applicants because
an error in this could result in irreparable harm. Even so, as this practice becomes widespread,
people would always clean their accounts before interviews to depict the needful and erase the
undesired. This way, employers and schools would not gather useful information as the profile
would have been customized to impress. Additionally, people could operate Facebook accounts to
be used for interviews. Such accounts would contain what would be considered desirable for
interviewers. They would have other accounts for normal socialization. Therefore, at the end of it,
interviewers who access their Facebook accounts get wrong information on the interviewee.
Despite the increased practice of requiring interviewees to provide passwords for their Facebook
accounts so as to analyze their profiles, the practice does not meet its goals. It is an infringement
into people s privacy thus illegal. More wrong than right information would be retrieved as most
people use disguised identities on social media.

The History of Levi Strauss Co. Essay
The History of Levi Strauss Co.
Idly standing on a busy street corner, one cannot help but observe a plethora of denim whiz by.
Entrepreneur Levi Strauss is the man responsible for creating the booming market and generating a
trend in clothing that has swept the nation for nearly 150 years. Through a steady commitment of
quality and reliable service, Levi Strauss Company became one of the most successful business
ventures to come out of the 19th century. However, history for this company has not been all
peaches and cream. Nearly every business must face crisis from time to time, but it is the unique
ability of Levi Strauss Co. to move on after each adversity, that has made them what they are today.

As the years went on, Levi Гўs continued to enlarge itself to become a common household name.
Critical junctions of the Levi Strauss Corporation included additions to the company, shifts in
power, new products, markets and ideas. Some made progress, while others caused digression. One
example is of tailor Jacob Davis, who proved to be a defining point in Levi Гўs success. In 1873,
Strauss accepted Davis idea of adding metal rivets to the pockets of his pants, thus making them
stronger. His riveted pants were a smashing success, (Gromer 94). This addition, as tiny as it
was, greatly impacted the company. Within a year, 20,000 pairs of these jeans were made
(Goldish 34). Until his death in 1902, Levi Strauss continued to improve the quality and
appearance of his products. Trademark additions still present today include two orange arcs
sewn into the back pockets and a leather patch of, two horses trying to pull apart a pair of Levi s
jeans. The company wanted to show just how tough it s fabric really was, (Goldish 35) .
Following the originator s passing, power resided in many different hands. Levi Strauss family
took over the reigns of his company in the beginning of the 20th century, and maintained
presidency until 1928. Succeeding Levi s nephew Sigmund Stern as President, was Walter Haas Sr.
For majority of the time between 1928 and 1999, The Haas family ran the Levi corporation. Lapses

Harley Quinn
Harley Quinn (Arleen Sorkin) was originally created as a character in FOX s Batman: The
Animated Series to be a humorous sidekick for the Joker. In Harley s origin story, she began as a
psychologist at Arkham Asylum who was assigned to treat the Joker. Eventually, Harley became
infatuated with her client and willingly gave up her career in order to be the Jokers partner in crime.
As the animated series and future comics progressed, Harley was reduced to an extremely
sexualized female villain for fans to ogle at and a woman who felt a complete loss of identity
whenever the Joker was absent. Despite the horrible abuse that the Joker inflicts on Harley in their
relationship, Harley remains submissive and loyal to him. The past animated character... Show more

When Harley was sent on her mission with the squad, she never made any mention of the Joker.
Instead, she focused on making her time in her assigned mission enjoyable for herself by
making new friends within the squad and proudly fighting anyone who threatened her. However,
she was ecstatic when the Joker showed up to take her home with him in an elaborate escape
plan. At the end of the film, Harley is sent back to prison after she previously failed to escape.
She is living happily on her own for a second time with request items to make prison life more
tolerable as a reward for her success in her assigned mission. Again in the film, the Joker strips
Harley of her independent life and places her back into the role of a damsel in distress. Once
again, Harley is ecstatic when she is rescued even though she had shown in previous scenes of the
film that she was fully capable of being an independent woman. The film shows Harley as a
woman who is still able to succeed and is able to manage her own life in the absence of her
significant other; this characteristic supports the progressive notion that women possess the
strength of achieving success on their own. However, this characteristic loses its value when Harley

The Rise Of Pollution Levels
There I was in Shanghai, China, staring at the sun as if I were trying to look at a lamp behind a
curtain. The rise of pollution levels in China has intrigued the minds of people who never even
cared about the environment before. The People s Republic of China is now the largest emitter of
CO2 in the world. But of course, this a global phenomenon: a global phenomenon that in no way
started with Chinaas Alanna Mitchell would agree to. By the end of the 19th century, the powerful
duo that was industrialization and imperialism spread industrial growth from Great Britain to
Southeast Asia. From the opium wars in the mid 19th century to the economic reforms of 1970s,
China has been incorporated into the global economy as the world s manufacturer. And as we know,
modern manufacturing is heavily reliant on fossil fuels. This has put an immense amount of
international pressure on the Chinese to improve their environmental footprint. But sustainable
development needs to start not just with China, but with all major players in the global economy.
Mitchell s statement, the idea that the planet s future might come down to China s choices is hard
for the West to fathom (102) is not only ironic, but a dangerous idea to accept. An historical context
of China s industrialization and urbanization will show you that Western interests in China led to its
massive carbon emission. Further, the root of the problem must be solved the way it started, with
help from the West.

Ceramics In Ancient Greece
For centuries, men have used ceramics in about everything. One can find usage of ceramic for
structures (bricks, floor and roof tiles...), decorations, mechanical and electrical properties and so
on. In fact, ceramics is one of the most ancient industries on the planet. Once humans discovered
that clay could be dug up and formed into objects by first mixing with water and then firing, the
industry was born. Archeologists have found evidence of primitive ceramic manufacture dating
back to around 24,000 B.C. These ceramics were found in Czechoslovakia and were in the form of
animal and human figurines made from clay and other materials, and then fired in kilns (type of
ovens) partially dug into the ground. As mentioned above, ceramics can be... Show more content on

In the late 19th century, during the industrial revolution, tile production became so popular that
tile factories were being built all over the world and advances in the industry were fast and
frequent. Prior to the early 1900s, tiles were only produced to decorate important public
buildings, such as churches, and for homes of the wealthy because one saw tiles as a sanitary
and hygienic product. In the mid 20th century, tiles became both affordable and luxurious for
everyone, and were implemented in homes everywhere, especially in kitchens and bathrooms
for its sanitary hygiene. As time went on, every country used ceramic tiles. Today, ceramic tiles
surround us. For example, one can see ceramic tiles in any room of a house as well as on roofs,
walls, counters and so on. From my point of view, a building would be plain without ceramic
tiles. Ceramic tiles makes each building different from the next for they are all used in different
ways. One sees a construction differently. Back home, in Haiti, my favorite space would be the
kitchen for one doesn t only see ceramic tiles on the floor, but also on the counter and shelves,
which are made of ceramic as well as are decorated with ceramic tiles. I believe that ceramic will
still be used for centuries to come because of its many

Glacier Ice Research Paper
Glaciers and Desserts Exercise
The difference between an ice sheet and a glacier; an ice sheet or continental glaciers is a chunk
of glacier ice that is the largest and the thickest type of glacier that can be almost unbelievable.
They are massive and can cover large islands and the land surrounding it as it can be greater than
50,000 kilometers wide. If melted, they contain enough water to raise sea level about 66m (216
ft.). Glaciers are smaller and move on average, a little slower but have remarkable ability to carry a
huge volume of water in a stream. A glacierice forms, where the depth of the snow increases, as
the snow accumulation exceeds, a deep snowpack forms as it is compressed into ice under great
pressure it then begins to flow down the mountain. When the glacier gets to a point where the
melting begins the rate of accumulation dwindles and stops.

Less water can be held and that side of the mountain gets rain. The cooler the air that crosses over

Domestic Violence In Sports
If someone were to turn on a sports channel such as ESPN, within five minutes someone would
have seen the media talking about a crime performed by an athlete. Most likely it will be an NFL
player because that is all that gets into the media. NFL Athletes are not given nearly the correct
punishments by, the justice system and the NFL for crimes like child abuse, domestic violence, and
other major crimes. In the past three years, there have been over 150 NFL players charged with a
crimethat the media knows about. The outcome in all but seven of them was no jail time ( NFL
Arrests and Charges ). One of the most notorious cases of all time involved O.J. Simpson who was

Also, the point of this is to not label male athlete s wives of being the only victim, as it is not
impossible for a case to have a man as a victim. The NFL must also earn commendation for really
marketing against domestic violence with great national commercials going against domestic
violence. But sadly there have been 98 cases of domestic violence in the NFL and those are only
the ones that have been reported. Those are only cases that have been reported, and it is likely
that there are a few more that have not been reported putting the number of domestic violence
cases in the last 15 years over 100. Ray Rice is one of the more recent players charged with this
crime and is still eligible to play in the NFL today. Rice received a $125 fine and counseling, that
s it (NFL Arrests and Charges). A man that makes millions of dollars a year and was caught on
surveillance dragging his unconscious wife out of an elevator was charged just $125 dollars. It
seems nothing but ridiculous that the court would have this verdict, but when you are in one of
the highest paying jobs in the country, you can afford the best lawyer possible making it so
much easier to get away with crimes. The NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, also has a play in
this. Originally, Rice was only going to serve a 2 game suspension and then he was eligible to play
again. However, since there was so much

National Security Is More Important Than Human Rights
National Security is More Important than Human Rights
The conception of human rights and freedoms is the cornerstone of American traditions, law and
the indicator of democracy. The approach of prevailing interest in personal privacy, property
privacy and non interference of state authorities in private affairs is the basic ground for modern
organization of American society. For centuries the courts have been standing safeguards of
protection of persons against unreasonable intrusion of the State, generally interpreting the
Constitution and the Bill of Rights with preference of personal human rights protection. Nonetheless
in the end of the 21st century there appeared several factors which so much influenced our society
that the matters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In most of the cases opposing the concept of human rights to national security is erroneous and
unreasonable construction because the national security is the concept which precludes the
physical and mental security of all members of the society, and therefore includes and
predetermines the possibility of exercising human rights and freedoms. Without security the well
being is impossible.
Looking at the national security vs. human rights question from the points of view of internal and
external national security, one should first examine what concrete human rights may be waived or
limited for the homeland security and protection purposes. Natural human rights like the right for
life are not the subject to address in this essay. The rights addressed in this essay are defined
primarily in the U.S. Bill of Rights. These are civil right for privacy, the right of peaceful protest,
the right to personal freedom, the right to a fair trial and the right of equal protection, usually in the
list of the rights which under certain conditions may be waived for the efficiency of homeland
security and protection.
The first argument supporting the statement that national security is more important than protection
of individual rights is the increased threat of terroristic attacks, which are very dangerous, carefully
planned, locally targeted and generously funded

The Pantheon As A Reflection Of The Roman Empire
The Pantheon is a structure that was built as a reflection of the Roman empire s wealth and
power. Back in its time, it served as a temple to all the Roman gods. These gods included Zeus, a
sky god and the father of gods, sea, earthquakes, and horses (Noble, T., Strauss, et al. 58). The
gods were believed to live on Mount Olympus, a 9,500 foot high peak in northern Greece and
were called Olympians (Noble, T. Strauss, et al. 58). What makes the Pantheon particularly
remarkable is that it exists to this day in roughly the same state as it had upon the completion of its
construction and dedication to the gods. Since its construction, the Pantheon has inspired numerous
other buildings across the world and has served as a staple in fascinating architecture. The tour I
took of the Pantheon revealed that despite its overall sound preservation there remain indications of
weathering, age, and past attacks. I saw numerous holes in the pediment and the original bronze
fittings had been visibly ripped off. Another visible difference that I noticed was that back in its
time it was obscured by a colonnade and other buildings, whereas during my tour it was surrounded
by more modern structures. The front of the Pantheon had massive columns supported by marble
bases called monoliths, which had been imported from Egypt rather than cut, which served as a
demonstration of wealth. To pass inside the Pantheon, I went under a rectilinear porch and through
massive bronze doors. Then, I was

Breach of ContractA breach of contract is a legal concept in which a binding agreement or
bargained for exchange is not honored by one or more of the parties to the contract, (Breach,
2007). A breach of contract can occur when one party does not perform as he or she promised;
when one party does something that makes it impossible for the other party to perform the
duties under the contract; or when one party makes it clear that he or she does not intend to
perform the contract duties, (Bennett, 2007).For example, if Company B terminated its
agreement with Company A in order to make a larger profit, that would be a breach of contract.
It would also be a breach of contract if Company B fulfilled Company C s order first and was late
meeting the terms of its contract with Company A. Another example of a breach of contract would
be if Company A was supposed to make a deposit and Company B was planning to use the deposit
to purchase the computer equipment, and the check bounced. In that situation, Company A s breach
would make it impossible for Company B to perform its contract obligations. As stated previously,
if one party fails to act as promised, and the other

Arcadia Analysis
Introduction
Arcadia is an ancient play by Tom Stoppard regarding a distinct relationship between order and
disorder, past and present, certainty and uncertainty. This play has in the past been praised by critics
as the finest play with significant contemporary playwrights with regards to English language. Tom
Stoppard has also been recognized as the greatest living playwright in English language theater with
timely jumping masterpieces. His elegance allows his forging towards a unique comedy of
romance, sex, wit, scientific theory and poetry, and further introduces active characters whose
passion for life has been noted to intersect across may other centuries. The play is directed by
Artistic Director by name Michael Halberstam. Moreover, Arcadia has for a long time served as
an ideal pioneer production at a performance located in the Writers Theatre s new home,
specifically the UT Center for Performing Arts Centre theatre on 11th of March back in 2017, at
7:30 PM.
There are three main themes depicted in the Arcadia play, among them; Emotion versus Intellect.
Arcadia outlines two sorts of knowledge, the academic knowledge and the sex based knowledge,
which have been displayed as in constant conflict in the entire text. The intellectual sex justification
and marriage proposition have been termed as the main factors that create resolution between the
existing forces. The initial pages of the play put focus on the theme of love verses intellect.

The river discharge method or water balance approach is generally used for estimating AET of
large area like Gilo Alwero sub basin. Most of the empirical equations for the estimation of actual
Evapotranspiration need to use many data, especially meteorological data.
Generally, meteorological stations are placed only at the urban areas and their follow up is
uncertain. In some cases, we need to estimate Evapotranspiration for planning in the large scale; it
is rather difficult to classify land use for individual calculation in each land use. Therefore water
balance is more suitable to understand the flux in a whole sub basin. The inflow and outflows are
determined from stream flow and precipitation measurements and the difference between inflow
and outflow over a relatively long period of time is used to estimate evaporation using the

Anthropology, Ethnography, And Ethnology
An Anthropologist follows two unique approaches when studying culture, ethnography, and
ethnology. Ethnography and Ethnology may share a zeal for culture, they possess distinctive
methodology and unique goals. Life on the field does not lack its myriad of challenges which the
anthropologist must work through daily. Through the studies of ethnographyand ethnology, we are
able to educate ourselves on the lives and rich variegated cultures with whom we share our world.
We see the fruitful work of ethnology and ethnography all around us. Ethnology provides us with

Ethnography is immersive research honed on a single culture.Ethnographers offer us information
about cultures and what they do. Utilizing a descriptive approach, an ethnographer is inside of a
cultural environment. Their goal pushes the mind to think beyond why a culture may engage in
certain rituals. An ethnographer questions the vast intricacies of the culture as a whole. Detailed
questions fuel the process for the ethnologist, What is the meaning of this ritual to you? What is
your kinship?(Miller 2/6/2017). Remaining immersed in a culture yet still an objective observer is
integral to ethnography, both from an ethical view and to conduct the most non biased research
possible.
Various methods are used to collect the information and reach the goals of studying a culture.
Interviews are an integral part of garnering cultural data. Simply making conversation with another

  • 2. Bible Justice Justice is something, that I believe, each and every person in this world deeply desires. But, justice does not mean the same thing for every individual. Justice, in fact, can have many different meanings. To the majority, justice means fairness or equality. However, in the Bible, the word justice is sometimes translated judgment and righteousness (Hollinger, 2009). At times, God s justiceis linked to God s holiness (Hollinger, 2009) and on other occasions, God s justice is what meets the demands of God s holiness and retributive justice or judgment, thereby procuring human salvation through Christ s death on the cross (Hollinger, 2009). In the beautiful passage of Scripture, Micah 6:6 8, Israel asks the Lord what He desires of them. Israel had been a very disobedient group of people and were unsure how to come before the Lord, because their sin had distanced them from Him. They were asking the Lord if they should bring sacrifices, such as a burnt offering, with calves a year old (Micah 6:6, New International Version) or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When instead, the Lord desires me to accomplish the three commands stated in Micah 6:8. God instructs me to love mercy, to walk humbly with God and to do justice. To do justice (Micah 6:8, New International Version), means to do what is right or good. Justice is right living in all areas of life (Hollinger, 2009). Biblical justice is also associated with fairness and integrity (Hollinger, 2009). Justice is also a special concern for the oppressed, the poor, and those who lack the means of self sufficiency (Hollinger, 2009). To put it another way, biblical justice is to bec[o]me concerned about the most vulnerable, poor and marginalized members of our society, and ma[k]e long term personal sacrifices in order to serve their interests, needs and cause[s] ( What is Biblical Justice, ... • 3. Does online social networking hinder the development of... The 21st century has seen the internet transformed into a tool that has made communication easier and more accessible. This transformation came about side by side with ideas of online social networks that would enable the interaction of citizens of different countries. Teenagers, being the main players of the online generation, have been caught up in the mix of online social networks as they have grown into a period whereby technology has revolutionized the way people go about their daily activities. However, due to the excessive amount of time spent on these networks and the online freedom that teenagers have, granted from social networking sites, they are left prone to negative effects on their development. For the purposes of this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, from a 2010 nationwide survey of more than 1000 girls aged 14 17 conducted by Girl Scouts of America, girls with low self esteem admitted that their online image did not match their real image and were more likely to claim that they portrayed it as sexy (Muscari). Therefore, online social networking use should be monitored primarily on the creation of user identities to prevent teenagers from developing exaggerated identities which do not match who they really are. Furthermore, the exaggeration of personalities may lead to confusion between who a teenager really is and who he/she portrays to the online realm. The terms of service of these online social networks require a user to be age 13 or above (Facebook Terms of service). Erik Erikson, a developmental psychologist who studied identity formation argues that this age correlates with the stage of identity versus identity confusion [whereby] teenagers seek to find out who they are, what they are all about, and where they are going in life (Cowie). This confusion could be detrimental to the development of teenagers as it might lead to identity crises or lack of identity and other types of depression diseases associated with it. Thus, online social networks hinder adolescent identity formation because they allow them to exaggerate their personalities and form new identities which can lead to identity confusion and associated disorders. Secondly, without supervision, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Systems Analysis And Design Of Iain s Co Systems Analysis and Design Help sheet: Introduction: For this unit I have been asked to produce a database for Iain s Co who are a large building service company, but before that I have to plan everything out by analysing and designing the database for the company s newly taken over smaller company. Scenario: Iain s Co are a large building company who at present have employed IT technicians in order for their technical aspects to be managed and to also support the IT users in the company. In recent time Iain s Co s have taken over a smaller company who require some help with their database as they want to include some new features that can improve and link both company data s together in order to manage the two sites on one database. Outline principles of systems analysis: What is a system analysis? A system analysis is a data processing method that is widely used in the business department for breaking down a problem into different parts to reduce the difficulty of the problem and identifying the needs to solve the problem more easily and more efficiently. This will be helping Iain s Co greatly because they need a system that can break down problems so that it reduces the difficulty of the problem. What is an SSADM? • 5. Vice Admiral James Bond Stockdale s Integrity In Vietnam In the words of Vice Admiral James Bond Stockdale, USN, integrity consists of knowing one s situation through education and thus understanding the limit of your responsibility. Stockdale, a former Vietnam P.O.W., writes the importance of integrity in The World of Epictetus. In September of 1965, Commander Stockdale ejected from his plane only to be captured by the Vietcong during the Vietnam War. In eight years of captivity, the Northern Vietnamese tortured and isolated Stockdale; and in that time, he observed the actions of his men. He witnessed honorable, high ranking officers cave into their oppressors, while common soldiers refuted any luxuries offered. Stockdale did not solely witness actions, but integrity; how a man acts when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... James Bond Stockdale did not choose to become a prisoner of war, but he accepted it. He understood the reality of his situation and chose to make the most of it. He did not succumb to threats and maintained his morality. The decisions made when tempted or in a state of chaos emblematizes integrity. Integrity alone did not get Stockdale through Vietnam, his education in history and the classics comforted him. Through knowledge of Vietnam s history, he discovered that the Vietnamese were once held prisoners. Unfortunately, history tends to repeat itself; using this logic, Stockdale sympathized with the guards and understood their anger and the mistreatment of the P.O.W.s. The knowledge of literature gave solace and answered why he of all people became a prisoner. Life is not fair, how one deals with these obsticles determines their fate. In my own personal account, Stockdale s theories accurately describe life. His methods of dealing and overcoming hardship resembles a code of ethics that I too follow and believe. • 6. Victorian Era Wedding Marriage in the Victorian time period was carefully contemplated, as Rosenberg addresses that Wedding ceremonies were seen as an expression of Victorian social values that that the Queen wished to renounce, while on the other hand, such occasions were viewed as having national and collective significance (Rosenberg 98). Love played a very tiny role in the Victorian Era marriages. An engagement was more approached as a business deal. Once married all possessions went to the husband as property. Anatolyevna emphasizes how Victorian weddings should be transformed from a formalized procedure to a celebration, a holiday for a young couple in honor of their initiation (Anatolyevna 1) The Marriageand WeddingCustoms of the Victorian time... For example, if you were un employed you were not eligible to marry an employed man or women. Queen Victoria believed that if you were not in the same wealth class you wouldn t be reliable in your marriage. Although, the Victorian time age was very serve, the exceptional backgrounds were very thought provoking. Furthermore, the Victorian era wedding customs were stimulating because of their uniqueness. Dawn Hurst demonstrates how A Church bell at the beginning of the ceremony [drives] out evil forces, and it was considered lucky to drop wedding rings, which would free the rings from any inhabiting spirits (Hurst 1). This is very distinctive because research states that there are barely any people who do weddings like this anymore. People are less likely to achieve this tradition because the marriages now aren t very organized and rushed. While the Victorian time period wedding traditions were unique they were also very elegant during the time period. Lastly the Victorian age wedding customs were attention grabbing because of their elegance. A Victorian wedding is all about class and grace. Queen Victoria was the one who set the trend for white wedding gowns and white floral arrangements. Due to a few Eastern Europe countries demanding political freedom and Western Europe demanding freedom from capitalism, the reasons for the movements of change across Europe in 1968 differed greatly. • 8. Comedy Analysis During this unit, my understanding of humor in literature evolved from believing that it was simply comic relief to grasping that humor is an entertaining method of conveying a universal truth through many different methods. Comedy comes in countless shapes and sizes, which all have different purposes and appeal to a variety of audiences. However, although the forms of humorare diverse, Springboard Activity 4.3 expresses that they can be categorized as either low comedy, which is straightforward and generally easy to follow and understand (1) or high comedy, which can take a bit of reflection to realize the humorous intent (4). Naturally, high and low comedy have different purposes in comedic literature. An author might use high comedy to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, we studied another form of high comedy, situational irony. To demonstrate, in A Day s Work , an excerpt from The Adventures of Tom Sawyer , Mark Twain reports that while Tom had to whitewash on a beautiful day when he would rather be playing, he ended up conning his friends into doing his work for him while he sat back and enjoyed the so called treasures that they gave to him so they could do his work, including a dead rat and a string to swing it with (44) and a brass door knob (44). Despite having a slight understanding of what irony was before this unit, I had never heard of situational irony before. Situational irony leads readers to believe that the story is going in one direction, then suddenly revealing a twist that makes it humorous. If I were to have read this excerpt before learning about situational irony and its aspects, I would have been thoroughly confused. However, now that I have been introduced to this idea, I can understand and enjoy the often comical product of situational irony. Even though Tom had been willing to give up some of his treasures at the beginning, by the end he was rolling in riches without lifting a finger. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hypothetically, a unique bird adapted to the rainforest and passed on those traits to the next generation. This bird lacks feathers, swims, and uses its extra sharp beak in order to survive in a rainy, humid, and tropical environment with other animals. If the bird lives in the Daintree Rainforest, it would have to adapt to an average of 2013 mm of rain per year, about 120 days of rain each year, and floods due to the heavy rain. • 10. Learning Disabilities Disadvantages In the early 1960 s Samuel Kirk an American educator and psychologist, founded the term known as learning disabilities. This came about after he had visited with a few groups of parents a few times to discuss why these parents children seem to have small amounts of success even when they are able to understand and comprehend just like other children. As a result of these meetings the LearningDisabilities Association of America was formed (Pullen, 27). Then later in the mid 1970 s the Educationfor All Handicapped Children Act was put into law which formally identified the concept of learning disabilities (Pullen, 25). After these things were put in place, there was over 10 different descriptions of what learning disabilities can be based off of. For this concept, it will be known as the following description. Learning Disabilities (LD) are created when there is a space between a person s ability to think and reason and not their understanding based on the results from tests. It is known that around 4 to 5 percent of adolescents are considered to have LD. There are a few reasons why LD can occur. Boys are more prone than girls, African Americans and Latinos are more prone than Whites and Asians. Most adolescents with LD struggle with many academic areas especially in reading. They also have difficulties with interacting with others, expressing their feelings and understanding the feelings of others. Last, is that adolescents with LD have a high chance of dropout rates ... First, DNA in the nucleus, its double stranded in eukaryote cells. DNA molecule unfolds forming two templates of DNA. RNA polymerase attaches itself to a template of DNA and synthesizes mRNA. DNAcontains the cistrons/genes which code for specific polypeptides. The part of the strand that forms the cistron is called the transcribing strand. It acts as a template and is transcribed to mRNA. The complementary strand which does not carry the cistron is called the non transcribing strand. During the process of transcription, an enzyme called RNA polymerase binds to DNA at a gene s promoter, then begins unwinding the DNA and making a complementary strand of RNA from the exposed DNA template. Depending on the gene being transcribed, the result can be a molecule of mRNA (messenger RNA), tRNA (transfer RNA), or rRNA (ribosomal RNA). Each type of RNA performs a specific function later in translation. Ribosomal RNA (rRNA) along with ribosomal proteins make up ribosomes, the workbenches on which polypeptides (proteins) are synthesized. It turns out that it is actually rRNA, and not a protein, in the large subunit of the ribosome that performs the peptidyl transferase function of linking amino acids together via peptide bonds. In eukaryotes, the genes coding for rRNAs are located in the nucleolus of the nucleus. A ribosome has 3 binding sites: an A (aminoacyl) site, a P (peptidyl) site, and an E (exit) site. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Electron Microscope INTRODUCTION Electron microscopes are generally microscopes that use electrons as a source of illumination to create an image, unlike light microscopes that relays on light. One of these types of microscopes is Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), This microscope uses electrons to scan the surface of a sample giving an observer a highly magnified image of the sample. The electron microscope has been an amazing tool for research purposes around the world for many decades and the technique was discovered and developed throughout the years. When the crusaders started to arrive in Venice, the Venetians, in accordance with the treaty of Venice, had prepared a fleet large enough to transport the agreed upon thirty three thousand five hundred crusaders. However, nowhere near that number of people ever made it to Venice. According to one chronicles, Geoffrey de Villehardouin, the ships the Venetians had built could have carried three times as many people as were present in Venice. This was caused by the fact that many crusaders had decided to travel to the Holy Land via other ports, such as Marseilles or Genoa. As Geoffrey de Villehardouin writes, this caused great problems... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without the Treaty of Venice the entire diversion might never have happened, as the crusaders would not have needed the money offered by Alexius IV in exchange for their help reclaiming the Byzantine throne. The relationship the Republic of Venice had with the Byzantine Empireby the time of the crusade might have influenced their willingness in diverting the crusade to Constantinople, as for them there was more to gain from placing an emperor friendly to Venetians on the throne than simply saving the crusade. Still, the influence of the Venetians on the diversion must not be overestimated. It is easy to look back on history, knowing where a journey such as the Fourth Crusade will end, and assume people were able to foresee everything that would be about to happen. This ignorance can be recognized in the sources written by Geoffrey de Villehardouin and Robert de Clari, they saw the compromise of diverting the crusade to Zara as a reason for celebration, unaware of the unfortunate consequences this would bring. Therefore, if there is anything we can learn from history is that trying to predict the future will most likely be futile. Introduction During the course of this assignment we will explore whether whatever is done intentionally is done for a reason by taking a look at Anscombe s set of notes called Intention. Elizabeth Anscombe was one of the most influential women philosophers and a very important twentieth century philosopher. She translated some of Ludwig Wittgenstein s work; hence the references in her book Intention. My understanding of the relation between acting intentionally and acting for a reason was found by understanding the concepts she defines and analyses which are mostly found in the early stages of her notes. Anscombe defines intention as acting under a description . What distinguishes us rational agents is the capacity to step outside ourselves and deliberate about different possible courses of action i.e. we can think hypothetically. This capacity appears to be evident in language. It enables us not only to act voluntarily but also intentionally. Different Senses of Intention An agent is in the privileged position to declare one s intentions. The description of one s actions and one s intentions are the same. Decision making is the act of deciding the best choice or alternative that brings success or advantage to a situation that will ensure maximum benefits and least risk. Probability can be applied to decision making in public administration because it is possible to estimate the probabilityof occurrence of specific events. A part of decision making in relationship to public administration has to do with goals. The probability of you meeting those goals depends on decision making. For example a restaurant owner has received more revenue on Thursdays than on any other day And less Revenue on Saturdays than any other day. The probability of them ordering both is 42%. This shows the restaurant owner that Thursdays drink special should be considered on both Thursdays and Saturdays. The rise of pollution levels in China has intrigued the minds of people who never even cared about the environment before. From the opium wars in the mid 19th century to the economic reforms of 1970s, China has been incorporated into the global economy as the world s manufacturer. And as we know, modern manufacturing is heavily reliant on fossil fuels. This has put an immense amount of international pressure on the Chinese to improve their environmental footprint. Breach of ContractA breach of contract is a legal concept in which a binding agreement or bargained for exchange is not honored by one or more of the parties to the contract, (Breach, 2007). A breach of contract can occur when one party does not perform as he or she promised; when one party does something that makes it impossible for the other party to perform the duties under the contract; or when one party makes it clear that he or she does not intend to perform the contract duties, (Bennett, 2007).For example, if Company B terminated its agreement with Company A in order to make a larger profit, that would be a breach of contract. It would also be a breach of contract if Company B fulfilled Company C s order first and was late meeting the terms of its contract with Company A. Another example of a breach of contract would be if Company A was supposed to make a deposit and Company B was planning to use the deposit to purchase the computer equipment, and the check bounced. In that situation, Company A s breach would make it impossible for Company B to perform its contract obligations. As stated previously, if one party fails to act as promised, and the other ... • 54. Potential Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Heat Index... One of the potential drawbacks of heat index method is that, its producing much more underestimated PET, as the method takes only a single variable (temperature) as Evaporative factor. Because of this resulting limitation on this method, PET computed by heat Index method is not considered in the hydrological assessment. 5.6.2 Penman Monteith Method A consultation of experts and researchers was organized by FAO in 1990, experts recommended the adoption of the Penman Monteith combination method as a new standard for reference Evapotranspiration and advised on procedures for calculation of the various parameters. In order to estimate Potential Evapotranspiration (PET), the standard Penman Monteith method which is recommended by FAO was applied. Figure: 5.8 Adopted from Penman (1948) Input data required by the Penman method comprises monthly rainfall and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The river discharge method or water balance approach is generally used for estimating AET of large area like Gilo Alwero sub basin. Most of the empirical equations for the estimation of actual Evapotranspiration need to use many data, especially meteorological data. Generally, meteorological stations are placed only at the urban areas and their follow up is uncertain. In some cases, we need to estimate Evapotranspiration for planning in the large scale; it is rather difficult to classify land use for individual calculation in each land use. Therefore water balance is more suitable to understand the flux in a whole sub basin. The inflow and outflows are determined from stream flow and precipitation measurements and the difference between inflow and outflow over a relatively long period of time is used to estimate evaporation using the ... • 55. Anthropology, Ethnography, And Ethnology An Anthropologist follows two unique approaches when studying culture, ethnography, and ethnology. Ethnography and Ethnology may share a zeal for culture, they possess distinctive methodology and unique goals. Life on the field does not lack its myriad of challenges which the anthropologist must work through daily. Through the studies of ethnographyand ethnology, we are able to educate ourselves on the lives and rich variegated cultures with whom we share our world. We see the fruitful work of ethnology and ethnography all around us. Ethnology provides us with scientific data, analytical and fact culling. The work of biologist Vojtech Novotny in Papua New Guinea shows us how ethnology and quantitative data can be used to collect specimens... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Sterk s case, she worked with sex workers, asking why the women are sex workers, drug usage etc.(Sterk 2000:) Ethnography is immersive research honed on a single culture.Ethnographers offer us information about cultures and what they do. Utilizing a descriptive approach, an ethnographer is inside of a cultural environment. Their goal pushes the mind to think beyond why a culture may engage in certain rituals. An ethnographer questions the vast intricacies of the culture as a whole. Detailed questions fuel the process for the ethnologist, What is the meaning of this ritual to you? What is your kinship?(Miller 2/6/2017). Remaining immersed in a culture yet still an objective observer is integral to ethnography, both from an ethical view and to conduct the most non biased research possible. Various methods are used to collect the information and reach the goals of studying a culture. Interviews are an integral part of garnering cultural data. Simply making conversation with another human in their language opens up many doors. Interviews can be an opportunity to gain an insider s perspective on culture.
