Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a measure of a business s impacts on society, both
positive and negative. Pharmaceutical companies in particular are held to a high ethical standard by
the public due to the nature of their products. Novartis, the third largest drug and biotech company
in the world, aspires to be a model of ethics and philanthropy in the industry. The company uses its
size and global prominence to set a high CSR standard for all businesses. This paper examines some
of Novartis s most recent projects that contribute to the company s respected reputation, but also
investigates lawsuits against Novartis and shortcomings with its transparency, both of which the
administration continually fails to address.
Recent Philanthropic Initiatives
Novartis has increased its budget for charitable healthcare over the last few years. The company
developed entire departments to oversee charity projects, raise awareness of diseases, and increase

Another point that needs to be discussed is the fact that students do not have the discipline that they
used too. Young adultsneed an example set for them if they are going to behave properly. Teachers
need to set this example by making students follow the rules, and having strict punishments for the
students whenever they break these set rules. Students need a well rounded schedule to prepare
them for the years to come. It is obvious that they need the basic classes such as math, science,
English, and social sciences. There are electives that are needed, but there are a lot offered that
serve no purpose at all. Some examples of classes that I had were teachers aid, health and physical
education, and chorus. These classes did not prepare me at all for the college experience. As a
result of this I almost failed out of Concord College my first year.
Another good way to keep students focused is to give them standardized tests. These tests
should be taken very seriously. The SAT and ACT tests are a perfect way to test a student s
ability to perform in a classroom. The teachers never know if the student has fallen behind, or is
slow is academics. If a student is incapable of keeping up with the pace of other students, they
should be demoted, or placed in remedial classes for extra help.

Collins in 2010. A Rising Nation would be most enticing to readers that have some previous
knowledge of history in order to connect the information through history. This book may not
provide new information for a scholar. However, they would be able to appreciate the more
enjoyable format of the book compared to reading other texts. Kenneth C. Davis is a historian
and an author from Mount Vernon, New York City. Davis s book Don t know much about
history was New York Time best seller for thirty seven weeks straight and combined in print total
of some 4.7 million copies. Davis went to Concordia College in Bronxville while he was living
in New York. However, he didn t graduate from Concordia; in fact, he never graduated from
college. In 1998 Davis was awarded with an honorary doctorate from Concordia College in New
York. In his interview summary on Don t Know Much he states that he didn t do too great in
high school, but he did fairly well in college even though he didn t graduate. With knowing Davis

It is obvious discussing physician assisted suicide is a very controversial issue that is discussed
daily by those who wish to die to avoid loss of dignity and also by those who think it is unethical.
For physician assisted suicide to even be considered, the patient must be of sound mind when they
are requesting deathwith dignity. Physician assisted suicideshould be a legal option for people who
are unable to end their own lives. However, there should be safeguards to prevent any sort of

Tortilla Flat is just one of Steinbeck s many successful novels. Indeed, Steinbeck is said to be one

Walt Disney at the Beginning
You walk into the living room and you hear the famous Disney music coming from the television
that your child is placed in front of. You start to wonder where did your favorite Disney movies
came from? How did they come about into the human world or how were they produced? What
was Walt Disney s childhood like when he was younger that made him want to animate and put
together cartoons and movies? Where did his career start off from and how did he get to such a
place. But the more important question, who is taking over now that Walt Disneyhas passed? Who
is keeping on the traditions of Mickey and all of his famous characters? These are some
questions that I set out to look more upon of Walt Disney. In what I ve researched is what is
going to be presented to you in Walt Disney: A Key to Childhood Hearts. On December 5th.
1901 in the town of Chicago, Illinois a baby boy was born with the name of Walter Elias Disney,
or as we know, Walt Disney. Growing up as a child Walt s father, Elias, was a very strict and
religious man. His father would physically beat him and his siblings if any sort of toys,
drawings, or any type of entertainment was found around the house. His wife, Flora, feared him
too. When Walt was born his father was a construction worker and his mother a stay at home mom
to five Disney children. His father later then took up a farm in Marceline, Missouri where they
then moved to. Walter always loved all the animals on the farm and felt like they were his friends.
