On December 7th, 1941, the United States of America was heaved into World War II after Japan
attacked the American naval convoy in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The next day after the Japanese s
surprise attack, America and Great Britain both declared war on Japan. The Second World War was
histories greatest and most noteworthy armed conflict. It served as the environment for the current
arrangement of security and intellect, and for the postwar power stability that shaped the agenda
for the Cold War. World War II partook with around 50 allied nations, one of the most renowned
was The United Statesof America.3 The American industry provided almost two thirds of all of
the allied military equipment produced during the war, and because of this, in four years alone,
Americas industrial production doubled in size even with it already being the largest at the time.
After the attack, everyday living throughout the nation was considerably affected. Normal goods
such as food, gas, and clothing were rationed heavily.1 The communities created scrap metal
drives and changed the standard role of women in order to build necessary weaponries to win the
war.1 Even though America was experiencing great economic growth, undoubtedly this war and its
associated atrocities would have a death toll of around 50 million military and civilian peoples, in
the military deaths alone The United States of America lost 400,000.1 World War II not only

The book of Proverbs and The Teachings of Amenemope have many parallels and similarities. To
some this may come as a shock, but it should not be alarming. These books are considered
wisdom literature. Wisdom is defined as knowledge put into practice; simply retaining
knowledge is useless if it is not put to good use. Wisdom itself is not exclusive to the Christian
faith; rather it is available to anyone who is willing to learn. There are different types of wisdom
such as biblical wisdom and worldly wisdom, but wisdom cannot be limited to a certain belief or
view. Worldly wisdom is not entirely bad, instead, it can be helpful to understand to better interact
with the world; to put it simply, worldly wisdom is an understanding of how the world... Show more

In chapter 7 of The Teachings of Amenemope it says, Stolen goods only spend the night, At dawn

and a deadly snare . The quality that is being portrayed is integrity. One is supposed to treat others
fairly and make an honest living, without lying or cheating. Again the concepts mirror each other,
but the motivation varies. The Teachings of Amenemope teach integrity because it creates a better
life, especially when others are striving for it as well, but the Bible preaches integrity because it is
right and God honoring. This with integrity will be taken advantage of and will have to take the
long road to reach their goals sometimes, but their motivation that pushes them forward lies in God.

11. Nutrition Preference And Its Effect On Diet Preference
Introduction:
Every living thing has a diet preference, it just depends how wide or narrow those preferences
are. Diet preference helps determine the genetic make up of an organism, you are what you eat .
The appetite level of an organism can affect diet preference by allowing them to eat something
they wouldn t normally eat. For this same reason, hydration levels of an organism may play a role
in diet preference. Understanding diet preference in a species like humans may seem trivial but not
for something like a house cricket.
House crickets, Acheta domesticus are thought to be endemic to northwest Africa or southwest
Asia (Weismann and Rentz 1977, Ghouri 1961). Currently this species has a near cosmopolitan
distribution, and is typically associated with anthropogenic establishments. Females can be easily
distinguished from males from their ovipositor, which allows them to lay eggs underground.
Crickets are diet generalists and can feed on a variety of plants(revise). Currently there is little
research on what effects hydration levels has on diet preference in crickets. If crickets are given a
choice between kale and iceberg lettuce, crickets that are more dehydrated will visit iceberg lettuce
over kale. Sex may play a factor in this as well. If sex has an effect on number of visits to kale and
iceberg then we should see a difference in visits among males and females.
Methods:
41 crickets, 17 males and 24 females that were obtained from the Petsmart store at El Con

12. Differences Of The Cosmopolitanism
Due to the wave of the World Values Surveys which was conducted in 57 countries around the
world, more than 30 percent of the 65,269 respondents, seriously, identified themselves as the
citizens of the world. So the Cosmopolitanism is an important and remarkable phenomenon (Miller,
2010). The Cosmopolitan, is the attitude to yourself as a person, a citizen of the world and this
attachment is voluntary and selective (Bayram, 2014: 2). When we talk about the cosmopolitan, it
can be imagined a cultural social orientation that combines the two dependent dimensions to each
other. The first and most basic dimension is what it later called the cosmopolitan Idea, and refers to
specific mental state of the cosmopolitan (Hanrez, 1990). Cosmopolitan mindset can be understand
as the way of thinking about what Beck calls it the imagination of dialogue and thus includes two
aspects: on the one hand, the desire to communicate with others and the other tending to identify the
orientation and background of the person s cultural... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

internal differences, despite coexistence, the same life style, contrasting certainty in the experience
of individuals and communities. It means the world that we require to understand, think about and

and others. Cosmopolitan outlook and theoretical sensitivity prepare a space for imagination of
dialogue in everyday practice and the related sciences (Beck, 2006: 89). As Dlanty argues, this
reflective and critical duality of Cosmopolitan is what distinguishes it from the world.
Cosmopolitan ethos emphasizes willingness to change, Self changing and self competition

child prodigy in the figure skating world. However, her attitude leads to many fights with judges
who never gave her the recognition she deserves being the first US female skater to land a triple

behind her throughout her skating career. One night during the 1994 U.S. Figure Skating

which is evident in the protagonists confining inability to communicate with the world around

This suggests his isolation yet the reader cannot be certain whether this is his own disinterest in
involving himself in social life, or whether it had been due to his childhood and conditioning by

difficult to find the reason why Engleby only attempted to join in the joke once . This theme of
isolation is continued throughout the novel with his cowboy tie at the dinner with Stellings, in
contrast to his music obsession: Off the top of my head, I can think of at least ten orchestral
tunes. Prufrock finds himself in a similar situation, questioning Do I dare/ Disturb the universe?
the alliteration emphasising his feeling of isolation and uncertainty on what action he should

some extent he does see death as a form of escape . This idea has some merit due to his belief
that the brief stint in humanity is pointless , and is almost as terrified of the idea of living
forever as he is of dying young. This is parallel to Sybil in The Burial of the Dead : I will show

20. The Threat Of Food Sources
THREAT TO FOOD SOURCES
Climate change doesn t just mean that certain species will suffer from the loss of habitat. There
will be a cascade effect up and down the food chain, affecting the most basic species of prey and
apex predators alike. Dominant predators with a strong preference for a carnivorous diet are
arguably more vulnerable to destruction of their environments. If the prey population suffers, it
directly affects the survival of the predators that depend on them. Polar bears have an especially
focused diet, and seals are their prefered prey. Interestingly, the milk produced by polar bear
mothers is more similar to that of pinnipeds (seals) than it is to milk of most terrestrial mammals
(Amstrup, 599). Like polar bears, several species of seal depend on a reliable presence of sea ice in
order to breed (Derocher 2004, p. 168). A dwindling seal population will almost certainly affect
polar bears.
Polar bears are unique from their omnivorous cousins in that they have adapted to an arctic climate
with a specialized diet. Ringed seals make up the majority of their diet, along with other species
of seal, whales, and walruses (Thiemann 2008, p. 591). Although I have previously argued here
is some hope that polar bears can adapt to different food sources like geese and caribou, further
research indicates that a diet of land animals such as geese and their eggs is a poor substitute. First
of all, the list of prey I mentioned all have one thing in common: A thick

pressure from Paris for quick action only Kaiser Wilhelm II, opposed the war and proposed a
diplomatic way to solve the conflict peacefully. However, he outmaneuvered by the more
governmental leadership and aggressive military of Germany. Austria Hungary went ahead to
declared war on Serbia ((Fromkin 17). Russia responded to these by formally ordering mobilization
in four military districts that are in its common border with Austria Hungary such as Galicia. On
that night, Austrian arms divisions commenced a brief, unsuccessful assault of Belgrade over the
River Danube.
My darling one and beautiful, everything tends towards catastrophe and collapse, This is the
letter that British naval officer Winston Churchill wrote to his wife a night of the war. He was
confirmed right over the next several days. After his demand to Russia to halt its mobilization
exercise on August 1 the same year had been met with defiance, Germany attacked Russia. France,
one of the Russia s ally, ordered its military generals to mobilize their men that same day and after
two days, Germany and France declared war on each other. The German s soldiers planned an
assault on neutral Belgium on August 4. This forced Britain to declare war on Germany.
Consequently, in the summer

For being one of the most famous authors in British history, John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was not
even born in England or Europe at all. In fact, J.R.R. Tolkien was born in Bloemfontein, Orange
Free State, which is now a republic of South America. J.R.R. Tolkien was born on January 3,
1982. J.R.R. Tolkien was a very famous writer, poet, and even an English professor who was best
known for his works The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and The Silmarillion. When J.R.R.
Tolkien was at a young age, there were many things that he saw and some things that happened to
him that made him write the way that he does today. For example, when J.R.R. Tolkien was still
in school, he read various books and he even created his own language, which helped him write
some of his masterpieces. Even though J.R.R. Tolkien had many influences to help him write his
own work, later on, he was also an influence to help the other authors write their work. J.R.R.
Tolkien not only inspired all of England, but he also inspired much of the world by the way that he
wrote his stories. J.R.R. Tolkien was a great writer throughout his lifetime because he had many
influences when he was growing up and in his youth, from reading different books by different
authors, and after writing his stories, influenced many younger authors and other people by the way
he wrote.
Growing up, J.R.R. Tolkien had lived a rough life and had some influences, which helped him

24. How Hitler Lost the War Essay
As an influential, forceful person, Adolf Hitler used his articulate speech to empower the Nazi
political party. Hitler received complete power as the Chancellor of Germany, after passing the
Enabling Act. He utilized the totalitarian power to create the Third Reich, and through military
moves and a propaganda movement headed by Joseph Goebbels, he made a great impact on the
Germanys citizens. Hitler influenced the Germans into sharing a deep sentiment of nationalism, and
the significance of the Aryan, or master, race. With this widespread attitude and the mobilization of
the German military, Hitler spearheaded the second world war. Despite the positive contributors to

This surprise approach startled the Allies, mostly since the thought of massive tanks traveling
through the Ardennes Forest was incredible. This German movement pushed the Allies to
Dunkirk, a location on the English Channel. Hitler then commanded the German forces to turn
around, deciding that the Luftwaffe were more suitable to finish the job and win the battle. The
Luftwaffe had minimal success after a dense fog obstructing the vision of the Luftwaffe and
making it possible for the British to escape to safety. This mistake was prodigious Hitler s
decision prevented the Germans from wiping out the British army. If this had occurred,
Germany would have had a great opportunity to invade Britain amphibiously. However, Hitler
did not take advantage of the opportunity, and missed out. Hitler s Rape of the Ukraine was his
most critical of blunders. From the perspective of the Slavs, the Germans seemed to be
liberators, come to save the people from the cruel jurisdiction of Stalin. If Hitler had used this to
his advantage, he could have had more manpower in his attack of Moscow. Instead, he looked at
the Slavs as mongrels, an inferior race. The Ukraines also had more experience dealing with the
Russian winter and terrain. However Hitler was unable to look past his prejudice, and shipped the
Slavs off to concentration camps to be exterminated. Hitler took their food and treated them
uncivilly. Had he done right by these people, he would have gained

As outlined in the advertisement and selection model the Support First Company is looking for

quick to become anomalous is likely due to the initial detection of viral ssRNA by RIG I
(Pichlmair, et al., 2006). In fig. 5, we show further evidence of the pathway cascade, i.e., the
fraction of the subjects that have k pathways out of 403 that are in alarm at a given time averaged
over all symptomatic subjects. This graph suggests that the pathway cascade could permit a
potentially very early diagnosis of influenza. For example, these results suggest that at least 25% of
patients that become symptomatic could be identified in the first 16 hours of infection using a five
alarm pathway. Discussion of pathway results The most likely pathway to go into alarm first in our
experiment, based on the MSET results, was the cytosolic DNA sensing pathway. It was the first
pathway to alarm in the cascade over 70% of the time. Influenza A does not generate dsDNA, but
negative sense ssRNA (Pichlmair, et al., 2006). The cytosolic DNA sensing pathway is known to
detect foreign dsDNA in the cell and upon detection of this exogenous DNA, production and

Genre, Character, and Symbolism Analysis on The Black Cat
Edgar Allen Poe was one of the most influential and important writers of the nineteenth century. He
was the first writer to try to make a living only writing. One of Poe s most popular short stories,
The Black Cat , is considered horror fiction or gothic fiction which Poe is known for in his books
and short stories because it was a popular genre during his days. In Poe s short story, The Black Cat
, Poe uses a horror fiction genre, a mentally deranged and evil narrator/character, and symbolism of
death to make a thrilling story with tons of suspense, drama, and gruesome detail.
Poe gives many gruesome and frightening details that make The Black Cat a horror fiction short
story. Horror fiction is a genre of fiction designed to startle, frighten, or disgust the reader by
inducing feelings of horror. Poe inducing feelings of horror through things that take place in the
story such as the stabbing of Pluto, the first cat. When Poe wrote, I took from my waistcoat
pocket a penknife, opened it, grasped the poor beast by the throat, and deliberately cut one of the

gruesome depth of the sentence. Poe darkens the story even more with the hanging of Pluto and
his wife s murder. Poe writes about his wife s murder and he gives evil details on the ideas of

reactions to her book Qur an and Women. Wadud s book, published in 1992, redefines the way
the Qur anic text views women and is the genesis of more scholarly works and discussions on the
topic of women. Wadud is the most influential woman scholar of the Qur an in history. Her
purpose is to solely look at the Qur anic text itself and not the hadith or Islamic traditions that have

She proves this through the discussion about the Arabic terms nafs and zawj. Nafs can be
translated to mean self, and though it holds a feminine gendering conceptually it can be seen as
neutral (19). Zawj is typically translated as spouse and though it holds a male gendering is also seen
as neutral (20). The Qur an states that a nafs was created and from that nafs its pair or zawj was
also created (22). Wadud emphasizes that the zawj highlights the pairing nature of the creation
story. Though the creation story does not have much material about the zawj, the duality of the
nafs and zawj as a pair is repeatedly emphasized in many verses (21). The Qur an does establish that
there is an intentional male/female pair yet it only difference it emphasizes is the biological
function of the mother (21 22). Therefore nafs and zawj cannot be translated to specifically mean a
male nafs and a female zawj (20). With this point Wadud argues that the creation story is gender
neutral and does not emphasize male

Project management has grown beyond the confines of simplistic canned applications into a
discipline that is in large part process, combined with common sense and inspiration. The process of
Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) derives from the practices common to project
management, as expressed in applications and tools developed to help project managers collaborate
with project team s cross enterprise.
Project and Portfolio Management solutions trump pure project planning applications by providing

There are, however, best practices and key logical steps that can be gleaned from organizations such
as Brigham Young University (BYU), DHL Americas and Eli Lilly, which have integrated portfolio
management into the fabric of IT management.
The key steps in creating and managing your IT investment portfolio:
Gather: Do a Project Inventory
Portfolio management begins with gathering a detailed inventory of all the projects in your
company, ideally in a single database, including name, length, estimated cost, business objective,
ROI and business benefits. In addition to project plan information, add weekly updates on how
much time they spend working on projects.
Creating a project portfolio inventory can be painstaking but is well worth the effort. For many
companies, it may be their first holistic view of the entire IT portfolio and any redundancies. A
good inventory is the foundation for developing the projects that best meet strategic objectives.
Evaluate: Identify Projects That Match Strategic Objectives
The next steps involve establishing a portfolio process. The heads of business units, in conjunction
with the senior IT leaders in each of those units, compile a list of projects during the annual
planning cycle and support them with good business cases that show estimated costs, ROI, business
benefit and risk assessment. The leadership team vets those projects and sifts out the ones with
questionable business value.

There might be many reasons behind the fact that not each couple are dieing to have a second

Throughout the course of the story, the father of the main character is shown feeding his daughter,

As seen in this quote, Ashes father is misdirecting her by sneakily telling her that she made a
good decision to offer to help him steal the money. This evidence clearly represents how Ashes
father is misleading her with lies and it will most likely reflect in their relationship negatively. A
third scene that reflects the idea that manipulation can negatively affect the relationship between a
child and their parent is when the story quotes Am I really? I ask, not needing the reassurance. I
knew I wasn t a million in one girl,no matter how often Dad told me I was. I still loved hearing
him say it. This proves that Ashes appreciates her father s compliments and people generally
respond comliently to things they appreciate, so her father understands that complimenting her will
be a good persuasion method. When all of this evidence is put together,it is easy to comprehend
that manipulation can very easily negatively affect relation between a parent and child. The
compliments were told by Ashes father to get what he wanted; money. All of the compliments
Ashes father gave to her are doubted by her but nonetheless greeted by open ears. These examples
prove that Ashes father was trying to get her to steal her mother s money using

35. The Picture Of Dorian Gray, And The Phantom Of The Beholder
There is an old saying that declares: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder . This suggests that
beauty is subjective, and lacks a concrete contextualized definition; what is perceived by one
individual as attractive, may be, by another, considered unattractive. Regardless of the subjective
nature of beauty, society still conforms to beauty ideals, which are propagated and fueled by the
media. The beauty ideals that are self imposed by society are problematic because they are
unattainable, and galvanize society to reject or promote people based on their outward appearance
and hold people s inner beauty in less regard. The imbalance between physical (outward)
appearance and inward is a key theme in both The Picture of Dorian Gray, and The Phantom of the
Opera. In both novels, the main characters are subject to judgment that is overwhelmingly directed
at their outward appearance, and we see an over emphasis of the superficial, which ultimately leads
to their downfall. Another important thematic element present in both novels is that the main
characters have conflicting dual personalities that have changing roles as the story progresses. A
contrasting thematic element in both books is the excessive praise that the main character in The
Picture of Dorian Gray received, and the excessive criticism that the main character in The Phantom
of the Opera received, both leading to negative outcomes, and the characters ultimate demise.

36. Clothing Choices In Historical Films
When a film claims to faithfully portray historical events, it becomes open to a variety of
criticisms: are the clothing choices appropriate for the time? What about choices in dialogue? And
perhaps most importantly, how accurately are the aforementioned events depicted? Generally
speaking, historical dramas are judged more harshly than other genres; as when real people and
their documented actions are subject to interpretation by the viewer, it is easy for the nuances and
subtleties of society many years ago to appear foreign to modern eyes. However, when a film
acknowledges the archaic nature of its subject and seeks to make it more accessible to newer eyes,
it must be careful to still remain true to historical events.
The 2006 film Marie Antoinette (directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Kirsten Dunst in the titular
role) is one such film that sought to modernise its subject. A retelling of the life of France s most
famous queen, the film showcases the majority of Antoinette s life, from her ... Show more content

Its dreadful what little things lead people to misunderstand each other. Those Winter Sundays is
a poem written by Robert Hayden in 1962.In the poem, the speaker is remembering his past
experiences with this father. It describes the usual ways sundays were for the speaker. In the
poem, it shows the broken relationship between the speaker and the father, through the diction
and the way the poem is written. The way Robert Hayden wrote this poem, perfectly describes a
broken family without saying it directly, but through the way the poem is formatted. In the poem
Those Winter Sundays ,Robert Hayden exposese the ignorance that results in a broken
relationship between the father and child, through grim diction, apologetic tone, conflicting
imagery. The use of grim diction throughout the poem reveals the negative relationship between
the father and child just by the words the author choose. In the poem when the father is getting
ready, Hayden describes the environment in the house as Blueblack Cold (Hayden 2). In this
part of the poem the father is getting up to warm the house, because of the time period this poem
takes place in.If the author was only describing the temperature of the room he problem would
said it straight forwards, since this is not the case it is obvious that Hayden is not describing the
temperature of the house . By using Blueblack to describe the cold, it gives a powerful adjective
describing the cold. When we think of the world blueblack we tend to think of the skin color of
a person who has been in the snow for a long time ,so blueblack describe an extreme cold. Cold
has a negative connotation in many poems, in this case the cold is the relationship between father
and child.By using Blueblack cold as the adjective for cold is makes the reader assume that their
relationship between father and child is extremely bad.The speaker describes the place that he is
raised in as that house (9).If this was a short story and not a poem that phrasewould have been

40. The Effects Of Dyslexia On Children With Dyslexia
There is no doubt that reading and writing are vital in today s society. Without basic
comprehension skills you simply cannot become educated let alone survive. It was a common
belief that anyone who wanted to read, or to learn to read, would be able to, right? With Dyslexia,
that is not the case. Dyslexia is described as the difficulty to comprehend language through reading
and writing, despite a normal level of intelligence. Dyslexiais not only the most common learning
disability, but is also highly recognized. There are three proposed distinctions within dyslexia that
includes auditory, visual, and attentional. Understanding dyslexia would help the educational
community as long as the medical community. Although the scientific community has extensive
research on Dyslexia, there are still neurological aspects to consider and to learn about. Dyslexia
is a complex disability that has interested physicians for centuries. Students with dyslexia should
not be overlooked and deserve equal opportunities in the classroom. Dyslexia was distinguished in
the late 19th century by an ophthalmologist. He coined the term because a child showed much
impairment while trying to learn to read, even with normal physical and intelligence. It was first
known as congenital word blindness by British physicians. They were confused when a child came

41. ##pretation In Sonnets 18 By Kenneth Rexroth s Sonnet 18
Sonnet 18 by William Shakespeare is one of his seminal works, in which he compares his mistress
to many things that occur amongst nature. He says that she is more lovely and more temperate
(than that of a summer s day). There is no more grandiose metaphor than that of nature for nature
has crafted its beauty for epochs amongst the fiery hell that was the beginning of life. Even though
nature is the epitome of beauty, it s still imperfect or just simply, inconvenient. With this, he begins
to negate the natural world by saying that rough winds shake the buds of May, summer is too short,
the sun is sometimes too hot (or hides behind the clouds) and that everything that is beautiful will
at one point lose its beauty: but hark! Not his fair mistress! The volta in the poem brings a critical
juxtaposition. It highlights the important fact that his mistress supersedes all of the annoyances of
nature. He says that her youth shall not fade nor shall her beauty for the mere fact that she will live
amongst the lines of his humble composition for as long as there are humans, the poem itself shall
live on, rendering his mistress an immortal. All of this accumulates and proclaims a powerful
statement of romantic transcendence beyond death. Meanwhile, Your Birthday in the California
Mountains (YBITCM)by Kenneth Rexroth is a sort of quaint and passionate elegy for a late lover.

The Hyatt Regency Hotel, the newest hotel built in Kansas City Missouri featuring an open atrium
design at its entrance with floating walkways suspended on the second, third, and fourth floors.
Only one year after its final construction did a suspended walkway fall, injuring and killing
partygoers the night of July 17th, 1981. What may have initially appeared as an accident was the
result of many factors including the design and construction of the walkways supports, but more
importantly communication between all involved parties in its design and construction. Ethical
concerns over this tragedy were raised as well as further investigation of possible negligence
resulting in the deaths and injuries.
The original walkway was designed to have single load bearing rods that would pass through the
fourth floor walkways supporting beams, be supported with nuts and washers and hang the second
floor walkway beneath as shown in the Original Detail in figure 1 . Due to a late design change for
apparent manufacturing issues, the change was quickly implemented to the As Built design shown

A case brief on AutoZone,Inc is being presented in this article. The paper briefly discusses the
history and progress strategy of the company so far. The main idea of the paper is the dilemma
faced by a portfolio manager Mark Johnson and the wise decision he could make in order to
safeguard his client s portfolio. The paper examines the current position of AutoZone in the market
and its growth potential which would help Johnson in making his decision.
At the closure of the paper, recommendations are being presented not only to the portfolio manager
but also to the AutoZone. Interestingly, how much of an impact can an interference of a corporate

In the short run share repurchases might look good in order to increase the share price in the
market and increasing the Earnings Per Share of the stock. Even though the act of share repurchases
might be an elusive move, no doubt that it is a sophisticated move as well. Most of the time
management is well aware of its decisions and makes judgments in the best interest of the
shareholders. But, AutoZone was pushing its luck by accumulating debt and somehow seemed like
the management wasn t concerned about the credit rating of the company.
Another alternative would be to use the cash to increase number of stores or expansion of its
business in Brazil. There is always a first mover advantage that AutoZone could capture in the
Brazil market. AutoZone had already captured the market in Mexico, Canada and Puerto Rico.Yet
again, autoparts industry seems to have slowed down its number of store in the last year but the
distance travelled by light trucks has remained the same while the average age of these vehicles has
increased (Appendix Figure 4 amp; 5). This means that these vehicles require maintenance in the
long run. Also, AutoZone could be the first to capture new markets.
Conventionally, AutoZone could also utilize its cash flow in acquisition transaction. Although,
acquiring a budding or established counterpart might increase the cash flow of the firm, additional

45. Learning and Change in Organizations
Learning and Change in Organizations
We live in a dynamic world with constantly varying conditions and aspects that influence how we
make business operations and manage resources. The varying conditions in different circumstances
require a level of understanding that is made possible through learning. This essentially means that
learning consistent with the varying condition is in order to stay in touch and articulate matters
appropriately. Business operations cannot be expected to carry on in the similar ways as in the past
with no considerations of what is happening in the modern world (Pless, 2007).
Learning is a process of discovery that generates new understanding about ourselves and the world
around us. Strategic learning is organizational learning that improves the strategic capability of the
organization and changes the basic assumptions underlying the stable generation mechanism that
structures the strategic behavior design process. Organizations have various levels of knowledge
and learn at all levels (Stein Nelson, 2003). The levels of organizational learning interact, making
higher order learning such as strategic learning problematic. Change resulting from learning need
not be visibly behavioral. Learning may result in new and significant insights and awareness that
dictate no behavioral change. In this sense the crucial element in learning is that the organism be
consciously aware of differences and alternatives and have consciously chosen one of these

46. Communication Theory Of Identity In Advertising
Are you an Apple user or an Android user? I m sure you ve heard a similar debate of differing
brands in your lifetime. I, like others, usually don t put much thought into questions like these and
quickly reply I m an Apple user I love Apple . However, even the simplest questions of preference
can have root in our identities and how we communicate to others around us. Studies show that
consumers often chose brands that they feel align to their selfimage (Andreea Catalin, 2014).
Advertising, along with other communicationindustries, uses the concept of identityto promote
messages. I would even go as far to say that individual consumers have developed the image of
themselves from what products they use a very powerful tool in advertising. Scholars have stated
similar saying that identity is a code that consists of symbols (possessions), words (self
description) and the meanings that you and others give to these things (Littlejohn Foss, 2011). It is
important to understand how we come to define ourselves since identity effects many aspects of
our life, such as what phone we will use to our overall health.
Michael L. Hecht has developed a theory that explains identity, known as the communication theory
of identity. CTI views identity in the sociocultural tradition, assuming that social relationships
prefigure individual differences, allowing for a unified yet flexible sense of self (Littlejohn Foss,
2011). CTI is set in the philosophical framework of ontology, or

The nature of humankind has been explored endlessly. Human nature is the strangest thing on
earth. Sometimes, some of them behave like they are the nicest and sometimes, at they are at their
worst behavior. Human nature depends solely on the circumstances around them. Some chose to
remain calm when they are in any trouble, but then at the same time, some chose to be aggressive.
Some changes themselves according to the environment around them, yet some just chose to be
how they are. Some chose to be themselves around people, yet some just don t have much guts to
show real them selves. Some like to be ruled yet some like to be a ruler. Every individual on this
earth is different from another. They behave, think, act, and speak... Show more content on

Obviously, if we are teaching someone something, then it really means that they don t know that
stuff and if they don t know how to behave then how could be all good and pure? That proves that
they are born evil and then it depends on them after that if they still chose to be evil or be good.
Same is the case with jack and most of the other guys. In this novel, golding William left the
boys on their without any parent guide to see if they will still be good but they turned out to be
evil. That explains that we are evil when we are born because till then there was no one to teach
us the good things. We are only good and nice, because there are people who teaches us and take
care of our bad behavior if we will be left alone with no adults, then we will learn no manners and
we will remain evil and selfish. Jack doesn t care what others have to say or what they have to
do, he will just do what he thinks is right. Throughout the novel, he always gave importance to his
own work. For example, when he was successful at hunting for the first time. Just to get the
hunting done, he took all the boys with him, who were watching the fire signal. He didn t care that
the fire will go out which his chief didn t want to happen. He just wanted to do hunting and be
successful at it and it resulted in that ship came near the island and was gone again just

48. Precipitation Of Crystallisation
What precipitated the crystallisation of the Sunni and Shi a sects?
Although the Sunni and Shi a sects are both Islamic and share a basic understanding of the Prophet,
theological differences developed and precipitated the crystallisation of them as separate sects.
Undeniably the death of the Prophet Muhammad in 636 triggered the crystallisation, as from this
tragic event contrasting ideologies about Islamic empire rule developed. In understanding this
question to mean, what caused two very distinct entities to form out of a larger group through
increasing political polarisation, religion plays a central role. However, as daily life proved there
was great overlap between religion and politics in society. The sects crystallised by legitimising...

The Buyids did not claim to be Imams or descendants of the Alids, nonetheless they promoted the
importance of memory and Ali as successor. To ensure they didn t alienate the population, rather
than acting against the government, the Buyids allied with the caliph and cleverly manipulated him
into a figurehead. Around this time Shi ites believed that the twelfth Imam disappeared, according
to Shi ites authority resided with the Imam alone as a source of guidance for matters regarding
religion so this was an issue. Regarding the twelfth Imam as absent or hidden they lived with a
messianic belief that the Imam would appear as the Mahdi, the messiah, and redeem the ummah.
The Imam unified the people and empowered them to defend religious beliefs, thus whilst awaiting
the Mahdi s arrival a serious void existed. As a solution in the meantime, the Shi ites accounted for
this disappearance and gulf of authority by formulating a unique role titled aim al umara . This was
how the Buyids acted in alliance with the caliph rather than instead of the caliph, continuing to
impose Shi a authority and crystallise, without alienating the

49. Glenn Close Essay
It is really surprising that these talented actors/actresses have yet to win an Academy Award
(also referred to as an Oscar). I honestly hope Glenn Close wins an Oscar before it s too late,
otherwise the legendary actress will have to settle for the Academy Honorary Award. The award
recognizes exceptional people in film who never received an Oscar.
Number One: Tom Cruise. The actor has been nominated for three Academy Awards, but he has
yet to win the award. Cruise has been nominated twice for Best Actor for Born on the Fourth of
July (1990) and Jerry Maguire (1997). In the year 2000, he was up for the Best Supporting Actor
award for his work in Magnolia.
Number Two: Robert Downey Jr. Even with his extensive film career, Downey Jr. only has two
Oscar nominations. Those two nominations include Best Actor for Chaplin in 1993 and Best ...

50. Gender In The Bohemian Rhapsody
The Bohemian Rhapsody from QUEEN was written in 1975, and re released in 1991. The
author was Freddie Mercury. This literary work is very interesting for me examined by
psychological approach. The entire text has a male centred structure, the dominant persona is
male. There are several names and characterizations such as poor boy , killed a man , Galileo . All
of these references show the dominant gender in the text. Although there is a less strong female
presence as well such as mama and mama mia .(The English studies book introduction to language,
literature and culture, second edition Rob Pope). It is possible to gain up the text and the author s
relation in different ways. First of all, it is important to know that the author,... Show more content

He honestly starts with owning up a murder made by him. In my opinion, if the text is checked
with trying to understand his background, it can be construct as admit of his own
rambunctiously life. I killed a man. Put a gun against his head. Pulled my trigger. Now he is
dead. As a broad interpretation it explains his sickness, made with the wild life what he lived. He
tells with the metaphor that he went too far, he just killed himself with a gun. He realizes that
his life is dangerously approaching to its end that he has just started now. He is feeling the
weight of his words. He starts to apologize for what he disbosom. He feels that this self
revelation is too factual. He says my time has come , like he resigned his fate. There is a big
hesitation from the author. He just making paradoxes with stating first that he is desperate and
second that he is absolutely resigned his fate. The big confused feeling is growing. He closes the
second part with another paradoxical state. He unmask his fear from death, he do not want to die.
Vice versa at the last sentence of this second part he says I sometimes wish I d never born at all.
He chooses literarily the death, but without living

the bottom of the spiral. It was just a cool system that I had never thought of. I also got to try a
passion fruit while I was there. I had never even heard of them before. It was so good, and tasted
like a bunch of tropical flavors mixed together. Best of all. It was grown in that garden. As a group
we helped Emilia with a couple projects in the garden. I helped make a path out of rocks. It
ended up looking really good. It was really beneficial to see a garden put together by college
students, as it makes sustainable practices seem more feasible.
Week #10 (11/3) Flying Fish Farm:
This farm was very interesting to me. The aquaponics were super cool, as that is always
something I have been interested in. A teacher I had in high school experimented with
aquaponics, but it was on a much smaller scale. Her system was not as successful though, as she
struggled with some diseases. The owner of Flying Fish seemed much more successful. This is
super cool to see new processes working for people. Another unique aspect of his farm was that
he did a lot of seedlings. That way he could sell the plants as a product. He said he sold his plants
to places like Earth Fare, which is very cool. Another unique thing was the popcorn that he grew. I
have never had popcorn right from the cob, and I would like to try it sometime after hearing the
owner talk about it. A new thing that the owner was trying was chickens. He was talking a lot
about growing his own feed for them to make the feedback loop

52. Treatment Options For Children With Adolescent Idiopathic
Treatment Options for children with Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis
Parents of children diagnosed with AIS (Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis) face difficult decisions
when determining a course of treatment. The information received from the child s doctor or
orthopedist may be the only reference parents have to base decisions on. This may leave many
unanswered questions regarding the child s treatment, effects of treatment and long term quality of
life after treatment. Like most parents, upon hearing my daughter s diagnosis, a million questions
came to mind including what does this mean for her health, can she still play sports, will she have
pain, and mostly, will she live a normal life?
Background:
Scoliosis is defined as an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While back pain is not a normal sign of scoliosis, it was the only thing my daughter complained
about and it can indicate a secondary condition such as spondylolisthesis, syringomyelia, tethered
cord, herniated disc or spinal tumor. (Asher Burton, 2006)
Diagnosis for scoliosis via a standard exam can be easily detected using the Adam s Forward
Bend Test. During this test, the patient leans forward with his/her feet together and bends 90
degrees at the waist revealing any asymmetry on the truck or any abnormal spinal curvatures. If
abnormalities are detected an x ray, spinal radiograph, CT scan or MRI will be used for more
accurate diagnosis. Curves are then measured by the Cobb Method with the higher severity
depicted by a greater curve. (AANS, May 2016) Statement of Problem: Interventions and treatments
for AIS have evolved over the years, however long term study documenting outcomes are rare. To
properly study a case from diagnosis to completion would encompass a minimum of thirty years.
Effects of treatment are unknown due to lack of comprehensive studies. This leaves parents of AIS
patients at the mercy of doctors and orthopedists who themselves have not

The atmosphere of World War II helped enhance Lee s writing because it led to the debut of
Captain America Issue #3 in 1941 with the help of Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. Lee used elements
of the war and incorporated it into his work. The controversy and calamity of the war made Lee
s Captain America a prominent figure during the war period because he epitomized anti Nazism
in an unexpressed interventionist tone (Wright 474). Lee constructed a tone towards Captain
America, which pledged to wage war against the enemies who were a threat to justice not only
home in America but also out of the country. With this tone, Lee s work had the most attention in
the World War II years. The influence of the war in Lee s work, however, led to some criticism.
The ideology that Lee s Captain America held wasn t viewed properly by political groups of other
countries at the time, but Lee found reverence from young readers who idolized patriotism. At the
time, Marvel Comics was called Timely Comics, and Timely Comics became the first comic book
company to publish anti Nazi stories. After World War II transitioned to the Cold War, America and
the Soviet Union had high tensions between one another, and the feeling of uncertainty grew
amongst the two nations. Lee used the high tension and uncertainty America faced with the Soviet
Union, and incorporated them into his writing. Lee s style of writing

54. Cyber Threats And Its Impact On The Past Year
Intro In an age of rapidly expanding data and highly skilled threat actors, technological
advancements present the urgent duality of major opportunity and critical risk. A universities data
is integral to both, and a critical asset that differentiates organizations. While it is impractical to
completely keep it locked down and yet open, it is use can threaten the organization s existence.
Therefore, the challenge for IT team security leaders is striking a delicate balance being security
aware and remaining business driven. The human and technological aspects of cyber threats
changed dramatically in the past year. Witnessing innovative techniques blended with the
outmoded, resulting in highly evasive attacks. Recently we have seen sizeable business,
corporations, governmental agencies, and banking institutions, which we perceive as extremely
secure, broken into. Vulnerabilities, uncovered by hackers who in turn exploit them in out of date
infrastructure standards and developments such as the Internet of Things (IoT) have emerged to
present an entirely new set of infrastructure challenges. Hackers continue to develop novel methods
to breach the security of the institutions they target. These methods are increasingly more
sophisticated and difficult to detect with the tools and programs designed to detect attacks and
intrusions. In addition, with this increasing amount of threats, fresh ideas and methods continually
develop to prevent further

End Forced Marriages
Today, two out of three women forced into a marriage suffer from physical and/or emotional
abuse. While most people have the chance to find true love, these women are left threatened and
in danger. The choice of whom to marry should be left to determine on one s own. Marriages
should not be arranged for reasons of money, religion, or reputation because physical and mental
abuse are common, the freedom that people are granted is limited by denying the pursuit of
happiness, and love is better developed in a consensual marriage rather than a forced one which
leads to greater satisfaction. Physical and mental abuse are not uncommon in the absence of true
love. The parents of the child usually choose the groom of their child. Some ... Show more content

If there is no love found, the couple is left in an unworthy relationship. In arranged marriages, the
couples are not able to understand each other very well before the marriage and also not aware of
the likes and dislikes of one other. In love marriage, the couples get to know each other ahead of
the commitment. When speaking of love, love has to be developed in an arranged marriage, as they
will only know each other better after the wedding. In a love marriage, the couples have been
together long enough to get to know each other before the marriage, so they have always been in
love, and there is no need to develop it. Another problem in forced marriages, is that men are
always more dominant than the women. No one seems to be dominant person over the other in a
love marriage. This is another reason that women are more likely to be abused in an involuntary
marriage. According to a New Delhi psychotherapist, abuse is found more in arranged marriages
rather than love marriages. Considering these factors, it is evident that love marriages cause greater
