The Purity and Purification of Solids-Melting Point Essay
Introduction: The method for purifying solids is done by observing the melting point. This is
important because if there is an impure substance the melting point would be depression and the
melting range would be broader. By finding the melting point of a known substance one can then
observe an unknown substance s meltingpoint to see if the points are the same and try to figure out
the unknown.
Experimental Section: The first known substance we used was Biphenyl. 68 degrees Celsius is the
known melting point. We used the capillary method and observed the melting point using a Mel
temp device. The next substance whose melting point we observed was 90 % Naphthalene, 10 %
Biphenyl. In the last part of the experiment I observed the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Trial Two: Acetanilide and Unknown E113.6102.0 113.6
Discussion: In part A the melting points I observed were similar to those of my classmates. During
the first trial the temperature was climbing quickly and the Biphenyl melted quickly. During the
next two trials the Mel temp was set at a lower setting and our melting point was closer to the
known melting point.
Conclusion: I have determined that Unknown E is Acetanilide. The melting point of the mixtures
was very close to the melting point of plain Unknown E. The 2 Chloracetamide and Unknown E s
mixture had to high of a melting point. Based on my results and observations I would conclude that
Unknown E is Acetanilide.

Banning Fiction Books
The School board is no longer certain fiction belongs the curriculum. They are concerned that it
does not teach about real life. Fiction is imagination it s not real. Fiction books can be a good
thing and bad thing sometimes. I think they should banned fiction books because it does not
teach us anything important we do not learn anything from fiction books. The book I am
reading is called Always Running. The author s name is Luis J. Rodriguez. The book is about
Gang violence. The book includes drugs and gang violence and they lived in a bad

Child Observation Paper
Child Observation Paper:
In early April, I traveled to Wautoma, Wisconsin to observe a fourth grade student that attends
Parkside Middle School. I observed a nine year old male student during the first three hours of his
school day. Within these three hours he attended his daily classroom morning meeting, followed by
two electives; physical education and keyboarding. This seemed to be the less structured part of the
day and during this time he tended to act out and seek attention. Examples of this would be talking
out of turn during the share time in his morning meeting, refusing to stand and say the national
anthem, and continuously making different noises during the teachers lessons. After attending his
electives, the student went ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather than being inspired by the work of Freud, Kohlberg s theory of moral development is a
cognitive developmental theory was inspired by Piaget s stages of cognitive development.
Kohlberg s theory is made up of three different levels; the preconventional level, the conventional
level, and the postconventional or principled level. The three levels are each broken up into two
separate stages. For the purpose of this observation, we will be mainly focusing on the
preconventional level and the conventional level of moral development. Kohlberg intended the
preconventional level to be focused toward infants and preschool children, however the students
behavior more closely related to this level than that of the conventional level which is aimed toward
his age range. The preconventional level is where children learn that their actions have
consequences. The first stage of this level is the punishment and obedience orientation stage,
children in this stage are focusing on the consequences of their actions rather than the logical thing
to do. The following stage is the instrumental purpose orientation stage, within this stage children
tend to believe that if they do someone a favor, that person should do a favor in return (Berk

The Role Of Iago In Othello
But I will wear my heart upon my sleeve/ For daws to peck at: I am not what I am (Shakespeare,
Othello). Shakespeare has portrayed Iago in the play of Othello as a cruel character who intends
to destroy any person who believes has wronged him. Iago is a manipulative character showing
hatred especially to his superior. In the play, Iagois the destructive personage yet not all characters
have known about his plots, he has been the reason of the demolition of Othellowhom thinks
himself to be an outsider to Venice. Iago has been playing in a way or another the role of the Devil
in the play.

the play where he has first shown hostility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

man for many characters. Because of this impression, people around him have believed him and
have seen in him the one to guide them to the appropriate solution. But they were all mistaken.
Othello has believed Iago and has never comprehended his malicious intentions. He sees him as
a relief to his breakdown. In reality, Iago finds pleasure in seeing everybody facing despair and
pain. Having a great status in Venice, Othello feels strange and have doubts about his identity
due to the differences in race and religion revealed by Iago. He is the Devil of the play. He portrays

The Use Of Food And Beverage Advertising In Public Schools
The use of food and beverage advertising in schools greatly impacts the purchasing behavior of
youth. With the abundance of advertisements plastered around elementary, middle, and high
schools, students believe that the foods and beverages advertised in their schools are what should
be purchasing and consuming. Advertisements directed at children in schools are misleading.
Children think it s okay to eat these food and drink these beverages because they see the
advertisements in a place of learning, a place where they believe whatever is taught to them is
correct. During the Obama administration, food and beverage advertisingwas a controversial topic in
regards to First Lady, Michelle Obama. Food and beverage promotion can be found almost
everywhere on school grounds. Schools have food and beverage sponsors, like local restaurants
and beverage companies that advertise in the lunchroom and even scoreboards in high schools (
Michelle ). According to a study completed by the United States Department of Agriculture
(USDA), 93% of marketingin schools, or $149 million, is related to beverages, and many soda
companies already have started to transition their sales and advertising in schools from sugary
sodas and sports drinks to their own healthier products ( Michelle ). Most people encompass the
common misconception that most food marketing in schools are done through the lunch program;
rather, most of food and beverage marketing is completed through athletic booster

To What Extent Is Lorca’s Use of Symbolism and Imagery in...
To what extent is Lorca s use of symbolism and imagery in The House of Bernarda Alba central to
the unfolding of his tragic tale?
When Federico Garcia Lorca talked about his new play, The House of Bernarda Alba, he said
that it was pure realism and did not have a drop of poetry in it, however if you look closely you
can see expressionism elements. The tragedy of the play has been emphasised by symbolism and
imagery to help the unfolding of his tragic tale by presenting the fears, the fact that They ve been
robbed of the capacity of hope and tensions of all the characters; showing the bleak ending for the
girls.
Lorca has used the symbol of heat in The House of Bernarda Alba to show the utter desperation for
passion and male attention: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This symbolism is rather tragic in a way as everyone knows that white does not stay clean
forever. The colour white also emphasises the colour black which the family are forced to wear
by Bernarda: keep your mourning clothes on your backs . The symbolic use of black reminds
the audience of just how long Bernarda s daughters will have to endure the mourning of Antonio
Maria Benavides and how much it will affect them. On the other hand the traditional colour the
black stand for is death, and there is an abundance of that in this play. At the end of Act Two
there is a women who has had a bastard baby and Bernarda reacts in a horrible was Let any
woman who drags her honour in the dirt pay the price . This could foreshadow what is going to
happen to Adela as she has dragged her honour in the dirt . Also there is a question at weather she is
pregnant: clutching herself . This could show that Adela is pregnant and that she sympathises with
the women who is being tortured.
In a way Bernarda is sentencing these girls to life of solitude and unhappiness and Adela also
selfishly prolongs this by killing herself. The lack of colour and of personal opinions in this
house hold almost represents a type asylum, or as is suggested They appear as nuns, not as
eligible young women . This lack of colour makes Adela s lover for colour stand out even more.
When Adela presents

Reflective Essay On Yoga
What is yoga to you? Most people would say it s a form of exercise, or maybe some would say it
will improve your flexibility. Well to Natalie Bell it s so much more than that. Natalie sees yoga as
a way of life, as a form of spirituality and becoming one with the body and mind, and of course it
keeps her flexible and in shape as well. I met Natalie through my mother she is her friend and yoga
instructor and a very interesting person who I wanted to learn more about. I was curious what
would interest someone in a life dedicated to yoga, and how exactly one becomes a yogi or
master of yoga and gets into teaching it. I learned that Natalie took a 500 hour course in the
Yoga Teacher Training program at the Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio located in Halifax,
Nova Scotia. Here she learned the skills to be able to instruct a class and mastered a form of
yoga called Hatha Vinyasa. I learned interestingly enough that there is not one type of yoga but
actually around 20 different kinds of yoga you can learn. However I really wanted to learn why
she d be so interested in this and I found out that she is an avid traveller and during a trip to India
when she was younger she met yogi s and lots of hindupeople and learned a little bit about that
culture and it really interested her. So, when she returned home to Nova Scotia she started doing
yoga on her own and ended up eventually pursuing the 500 hour yoga teacher course and
completing it, Natalie is also a second degree black belt in

Group Project Research Paper
This is going to be a group project. Most students dread hearing those words. I know that I groan
inside because I think group projects are awkward and slightly unfair. Considering that more and
more teachers are assigning group projects more often, I decided to look into the benefits of group
projects. After doing a simple Google search, I realized that students gain many skills and learn
important lessons when doing group projects.
Group projects can be extremely beneficial to students as they prepare to enter the world of work.
One of the most important skills it teaches young adults it to collaborate and work with others.
Often times, people are going to have to work with someone they may not like. Members of the

Cathy Middlecamp, who writes on Teaching Stories, surveyed students on their thoughts about
group projects and observed that dictators ignore the opinions of others and piledrive their own
agenda while not allowing others to share their knowledge. Working in group projects is the
opportunity for these students to practice humility and listening skills. If you are a quieter
student, speak up and let this person know that they need to take it down a level. If you are being
the controller, take a step back and let someone else do the talking for a while. On the other side
of the coin are the students who slack off in a group project. They think that because there are
others in the group they do not have to do that much work. The less motivated students lean on the
kids who are working hard to get a good grade to get them through the class. Evidently there is
going to be disagreement about approaches and information. Some students are too stubborn to
accept an opposing viewpoint and refuse to compromise. Compromising is a skill everyone must
learn! When students are allowed to choose their own groups, the quieter students often get put into
whatever group needs an extra person. Just because the student is shy does not mean that they do
not have good ideas to contribute. Make sure that everyone

San Diego And The San Andreas Fault System
The city has a mild year round climate with an average of 201 days above 70 degrees. A sign of
global warming is that the average surface temperature of the water has increased 3 degrees
since 1950. San Diego lies on approximately 200 deep canyons and hills, creating small pockets
of natural open space scattered throughout the city and giving it a mountainous geography. Due to
this scattered open space, it causes a significant change in climate over short geographical
distances. The San Diego River runs through the middle of San Diego while several reservoirs lie
between and also separate the developed areas. The city also runs through two fault zones, the Rose
Canyon and Point Loma faults, which are part of the San Andreas Fault system. It

The Little Prince Literary Criticism
Three aspects are important while analyzing a text according to Psychoanalytical Criticism. These
are the author, characters and the reader. Psychoanalytic critics handle the text like analyzing the
author s own inner world as Ann B. Dobie stated her book Theory into Practice, An Introduction to
Literary Criticism: They see work as an expression of the writer s unconscious mind, an artifact that
can be used to psychoanalyze the writer, producing psycho biography. (2015, p. 62). Hence, it is
important to have background information about the writer s own life story in order to grasp the
reason of characters attitude in the text. Symbols, dreams and conflicts have a vital role for the
writer because they are the messengers to the reader who has been in communication with the text.
The reader is also important as s/he is going to get the messages and reach the repressed feelings of
the author. In this respect analyzing a text... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

imagination for a six year old boy to draw a boa constrictor digesting an elephant. Here, we should

In Cold Blood And Truman Capote And In Cold Blood
In Cold Blood, a nonfictional narrative explores a different side of four brutal murders in hopes to
humanize the murderers while, on the other hand, the film, Capote, explores the creation of the
story as well as Truman Capote s relationships with the killers. Though the variants tell slightly
different stories, they converge on certain stylistic elements such as contrast. From the cheerful
shots of yellow, brightness, and loud ambiance, to somber, cold, framed shots of solemn feeling in
Capoteas well as substantial differences in the natures of the characters from In Cold Blood, both
use contrast to express the purpose of the pieces and uncover point of view. A recurring theme of
through Capote and In Cold Blood is the contrast of Perry s nature, which constructs a more
complex character with depth. Throughout the book, Perry displays two conflicting
personalities. A majority of the time Perry is insecure, submissive, and childlike. His
relationship with Dick highlights his insecurity and dependency, for example when he lies to
Dick about killing a man to seem more intimidating. Because of his childhood traumas Perry
often cries in his sleep, sucks his thumb, or even wets his bed, Perry could be such a kid, always
wetting his bed and crying in his sleep ( Dad, I been looking everywhere, where you been, Dad? ,
(Capote). This is touched on in the Capote movie when Truman Capotespoon feeds Perry baby food
because he is so weak. Another way both adaptations add to

Child Throwing
Introduction
Throwing is probably the most common of the ballistic skills yet the most difficult to assess. As a
parent when teaching the child to throw, it is important to begin at a level that the child can
achieve and then slowly increase the level of difficulty, so that the child is stretched slightly
(taking steps backwards, or throwing for longer distance), each time but does not lose confidence in
achieving the task. Also, make sure while each step is completed give the child lots and lots of
praise and encouragement. With giving encouragement as a parent, the child looks up to you to give
them instruction therefore if the child does a skill correctly keep their confidence up in order for
them to move on to the next step in throwing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without learning the basic steps, it would be difficult to master the task. But with gender and
skill level varying in each child, being patient and boosting their confidence when they do it
correctly is equally important as correctly them when they make a mistake. What we don t see in
young adults as we do in children is fear. Many children are afraid to try new things. Throwing
the correct way is very important as a child because of the danger of overuse injuries rising all
over the world. Since overhead throwing is not a natural motion of the shoulder, it does cause
strain on the muscles. As a child, I couldn t get enough of sports, so for me to gain this kind of
knowledge through this class is interesting because I had no idea that breaking down the steps or
videotaping the action can breakdown the skill to see what the child is doing wrong in the motion.
The application to this information can help me raise my kids, it can help me train those who come
to me for help. Developing as an individual is a never ending process and that is what interests me

This essay will be exploring the use of language and imagery in the poem Valentine by Carol Ann
Duffy to emphasise certain emotions within the text. This poem refers to the dark side of love and
relationships several times, for example; Its fierce kiss will stay on your lips. This creates a
different atmosphere to the stereotypical love poems, which are known for their mention of red
roses and satin hearts. Although the title gives us an impression of a clichГ© filled poem, as we

The use of the detached word Lethal in the final stanza suggests that this is the core to the emotion
of love, and the surface to the surrounding layers is red roses and satin hearts.
We can compare Valentine to Sonnet 18 written by William Shakespeare and Sonnet 43 by
Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Despite having to perhaps read more deeply into Sonnet 18 to
understand its purpose, we can see from the first line; Shall I compare thee to a summer s day?
that it is of a romantic genre. This line can also be linked to Romeo and Juliet perhaps suggesting
that Shakespeare has emotional attachments to the message he is attempting to articulate, as he
uses this motive in more than one of his pieces. Whilst the opening greets us with a warm
welcome and the perception that it will continue to express a contented vibe, a turning point of
But... is introduced. It then goes on to use immortality as a comparison to relationships, for
example; Nor shall Death brag thou wander st in his shade. This mention of demise can also be
associated with the plot of Romeo and Juliet supporting the point made earlier. Giving the
inanimate object of Death a capital letter is a use of personification that proposes the idea to the
reader that death is living, and it is always something to be feared.
Sonnet 43 also grabs the reader s attention with a question that is later answered. The use of the

The Shame Of A Shame Based Culture
Brene Brown said this, We judge people in areas where we re vulnerable to shame, especially
picking folks who are doing worse than we re doing. If I feel good about my parenting, I have no
interest in judging other people s choices. If I feel good about my body, I don t go around
making fun of other people s weight or appearance. We re hard on each other because we re using
each other as a launching pad out of our own perceived deficiency.
I love the power in this quote of comparing how we love and accept people when we are
unashamed, versus when we are ashamed and feeling unworthy. The problem with living in a shame
based culture is it becomes increasingly normal, and therefore how shame affects our identity has
gone unrecognized and undefined in most of our lives. This is how Brene explains shame, Shame
is the intensely painful feeling or experience of believing we are flawed and therefore unworthy of
acceptance and belonging. Women often experience shame when they are entangled in a web of
layered, conflicting and competing social community expectations. Shame leaves women feeling
trapped, powerless and isolated.
We are not alone in feeling unworthy. Shame causes us to feel unlovable and damaged, yet Christ
is in the business of restoring dignity back to the human soul. You are not shaped by shame, you
are defined by God. A Christ based identity gives us the grace to like ourselves. Moreover, the
grace of our God given identity helps us not to despise or loathe our

Shinto is the belief of kami, spirits, deities that exist as things in nature, such as trees or streams,
watching over the humans on Earth. To the Japanese, Shinto was not particularly a religion but
something that is part of their lives, like another part of the natural world, albeit a part of enormous
power (BBC: History 1). So, in a sense, religion actually came into Japan in the 6th century, when
Buddhism, founded by Prince Shotoku (571 622), was transmitted to Japan from China (Web Japan
2). After the birth of Buddhism into Japan, Shinto faiths and traditions took on Buddhist elements,
and later, Confucian ones (BBC: History 1). The Emperor Shomu (701 756) adopted Buddhism as
the official state religion and build a huge statute of Buddha to commemorate this occasion. Even
still, the coexistence of Buddhism and Shinto continued (Web Japan 2). Since Buddhism and Shinto
were the main beliefs in Japan, during the time in the 16th century, religious tensions with
Christianity grew when Christian missionaries tried to convert many of the Japanese (BBC:

and in which made Buddhism and Shinto the dominant religions in the 17th century partly because
an anti Christian measure forced every Japanese person to register at a Buddhist temple and to pay

Elizabeth Cady Argument Analysis
If Elizabeth Cady Stanton was alive today, she would be definitely pleased to see the
advancements of women s rights, however, she would not be completely satisfied and probably
disappointed to see that many of the issues she brought up during her time are still being dealt with
today. Elizabeth Cady Stanton was highly critical of the sexual double standard and the lack of
equal education for women. She believed that men should be placed at the same moral standard as
women and that women should be given the same opportunity in education as men. Remarkably,
women today have advanced far more in education than with the sexual double standard, however,
the sexual double standard has come to collide with women s education. Stanton saw that men...

to be sexually free like men, instead she states that women should keep their high standards, but
men should be raised to that standard as well (DuBois 30). Therefore, men should be punished in
the same way as women are to be punished. In addition to leveling the plane on morality, Stanton
demands that women should have the right to be trailed by a jury of our own peers (DuBois

women and sex, more men would be held responsible for their actions. In the case of Abson, the
jury who found her guilty and let the black man go free was most likely a jury filled with men.
Stanton would argue that she was unfairly tried because according to her, men fails to do justice
to women in her best estate, and that she was not represented in the jury. In her 1854 address to
the Legislature of NewYotk, Stanton points out how no rank of men have ever been satisfied
with being tried by jurors higher or lower in the civil or political scale than themselves, that
slaveholders cannot make laws and execute laws for slaves, nor can nobleman do the same for
peasants, therefore she states that neither can man make and execute just laws for women
(DuBois 46). Consequently, if the moral standard were to be raised for men, then women will
have to be represented in the jury for criminal cases so men will be held

Signage And Dementia
The quality of the environment has an influence on those with dementia, so good design can help

Another Canada Essay
When people think of Canada and then compare it to the United States of America, they always
tend to think it is similar. At least I did until I started this project. I always thought that Canada
was a clone or mirror of America, but I was wrong. About 99.75% of the Canadian people consider
ice as something that they use in a drink or something that is alwayson the road that needs salt. For
the rest of the
Canadians, ice is a major barrier of life. The ice can be used as a helpful thing to. It could be

America (3,732,396 sq. mi.), half is livestock ranching and the other half is mixed farming and

$24,700 per capita. The difference is immense. America is producing more while Canada is lacking
the capability that the US has. Another factor the helps or holds down the manufacturing is
precipitation. Canada receives about 20 to
40 inches a year. Which helps the growth of the main products, timber. The US has more of a
larger range of 10 to 120 inches. In the 10 inches area, sheep and citrus is grown. For Canada, the

Examples Of Revenge In The Duchess Of Malfi
John Webster s The Duchess of Malfi can be viewed as a revenge tragedy. The Duchess was
murdered on the order of her two brothers, Cardinal and Ferdinand, because of her sexual
transgressions and her secret marriage with her subordinate household steward, Antonio, with
whom she had also borne two children. Through this play, Webster addresses many issues that
were highly prevalent in Jacobean age. This play is a concoction of issues like social mobility,
gender norms, revenge and also has violence in large proportions. We see that class status does not
protect the Duchess against men s violent acts. The murder of the Duchess is not really considered
a murder by the brothers but an act that is done to protect their familyname in the society... Show

Men were supposed to be the powerful ones and women wee meant to do the household work
and bear children. The power and authority lied with the men while women were not given
importance in matters of authority. We see this when Ferdinand and Cardinal attempt to
regulate her behavior during their absence by forbidding her to remarry. However, some women
did have authority. This was the time of Queen Elizabeth who had ample power and had worked
hard to keep her reputation in a time when there was rising gender apprehensions. Such was the
case with the Duchess of Malfi as well. She was a woman with power and authority and wealth.
The Duchess was a woman of strength and did not have a fear of defying authority. Even after
her brothers had told her not to remarry, the Duchess went against their wishes and remarried that

but also an act that has hit them hard and made it imperative for them to teach her a lesson. The
society wanted to curb and control women mentality. In a time period when the mentality of the

Analysis Of Heidegger s Building Dwelling Thinking
After the destruction in Germany due to the World War 2, the struggle for survival and inhabitation
had been the most and immediate business for the people. The war caused the destruction of near
one fifth of the German houses between 1939 and 1945. In West Germany, there were required
almost two and a half million houses for the refugees and another million for younger families. It
was where the German philosopher Martin Heidegger s Freiburg and Black forest were located.
People shared accommodation there till they could find their own. Then arose the question of
termed as Wohnungsfrage that means Dwelling Question due to this housing crisis. In its response
Heidegger wrote his famous Building Dwelling Thinking .

In his essay, Heidegger discusses the type of dwelling which is poetic in a sense. He then
questions further that are the dwellings poetic in a true sense if yes then are other dwellings
incompatible with the poetic ones? He further questions about the coexistence of the man s social
and historical life. For Heidegger, poetry is the things that let the man dwell and dwelling is
through building. He believes that art of building is very much similar to the art of poetry. The
way the verses in a poem depict a simple fact in a really creative way is same as that of the
technique of constructing a building and then making the building alive by dwelling in that
particular building. This philosophy of Heidegger is reflected in his architectural design sense that
he connects the building styles with human life. This poem tends to remove the misconceptions
that poems snatch away the realities of this world or poetry is mere fantasy but it s not like that.
Actually, poetry brings fantasy to life. Same as the opposing above and below and belonging to

The Gravitational Slingshot Essay
The Gravitational Slingshot
The gravitational slingshot is a way that scientists have truly harnessed the gravitational pull of a
planet by using it to launch satellites and other useful projectiles towards their desired locations.
This method was developed through the use of Newton s Laws of Gravity and Kepler s Laws of
Planetary Motion. When these ideas of gravity and the shape of a planet s orbit were brought
together piece by piece, this new theory changed how a projectile traveling through space could
simply cross an orbital pattern, which would in turn change the path of the moving object. The
change in the path accelerates the object at a higher rate and sends it speeding off in its proper
direction. The gravitational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kepler established the Laws of Planetary Motion. The first Law states that the orbit of every
planet is an ellipse with the Sun at one of the two foci. The second law states that a line joining a
planet and the Sun sweeps out equal areas during equal intervals of time. And the final Law tells
that the square of the orbital period of a planet is directly proportional to the cube of the semi
major axis of its orbit. Kepler s Laws also come into play with the use of the gravitational
slingshot, because Kepler believed that the orbit that a planet takes around another body follows an
elliptical pattern, instead of traveling in a perfect circle. Of course each planet has a specific
elliptical orbit, just as humans have different fingerprints to identify them. Before launching their
equipment into space, each planet must have its pattern identified to ensure accurate results for the
launch. This knowledge helps scientists identify where the ellipses are in relation to the paths of
orbit so that they can launch satellites in the proper direct, at the proper time, with the proper
velocity. Combining both of these sets of theories together has lead the way to the effect we know
as the gravitational slingshot effect.
Today, the gravity assist effect is used extremely often by NASA and the Air Force. It is the most
fuel efficient, naturally occurring booster in

MPLS encapsulated PDUs move through a WAN via Label Switched Paths (LSPs), which are
similar to Frame Relay s virtual circuits. PDUs with closely related paths are grouped into
Forwarding Equivalence classes (FECs). FECs are not synonymous with LSPs, as multiple FECs
often traverse the same LSP. Regular interior routing protocols are present on the WAN, but only
to spread topology data so that LSPs can be created. They are not involved in individual
forwarding decisions. Traffic engineering extensions can even be added to create backup LSPs and
provide QoS.
MPLS has many advantages over competitive services. It was originally developed as a faster
technique for moving data between LANs. Since only a single router has to fully inspect
incoming traffic, and all others are merely reacting to the conclusions of this original inspection,
speed is improved from the paradigm. However many advancements in hardware have somewhat
closed the gap on this difference. Nonetheless, MPLS remains a fair choice for those who wish to
optimize the speed of their network, and it has many things to offer beyond that original intent.
The Multiprotocol part of it s name is important in explaining many of these perks. What is meant
by multiprotocol is that it s compatible with any network layer protocol. And not only that, it s
also friendly with other WAN services such as Frame Relay and ATM. This means that any
existing legacy networks or variant adjacent WANs will play well

Erik Erison s Theory Of Developmental Stages
Erik Erikson s Theory of Developmental Stages
Erik Erikson was born to a Danish mother in Frankfurt, Germany in 1902. He was raised by his
biological mother and his stepfather. Erik Erikson grew up never knowing his biological father
and this perhaps this was the reason why he started to research psychological development
(Thomas, 2015). In the early 1900 s, Erik Erikson started to study theories on human behavior
such as the research of Id, Ego and Super Ego, which was Sigmund Freud s findings. Later on
Erik Erison would veer off of Freud s findings about biological instincts, and go on to research that
social interactions are what drives us (Thomas, 2015) into becoming mature adults with a sense of
accomplished identity.
Erikson found that each stage of development occurs and is a building block for the next stage of
development. Out of eight distinctly defined stages of development, five stages happen before the
age of 18. Erikson assumes that a crisis occurs at each stage of development
(Simplypsychology.org). If one stage of development is hindered, the next stage is likely to falter,
resulting in major difficulties later in life. Erikson emphasizes that much of the psychological
development in one s life occurs during adolescents, and that personality is greatly shaped through
the social experiences that occur during that time.
The first developmental stage of a person that Erikson identified was Trust vs. Mistrust (Myers
DeWall, 2014). This stage occurs from

Theme Of Symbolism In The Awakening
The Awakening: The Symbols, the Characters, and the Journey Mythological criticism relies on
archetypes. Archetypes determine the form and function of literary works (Delahoyde).
Archetypes are the unknowable basic forms personified or concretized in recurring images,
symbols, or patterns (Delahoyde). By recognizing symbols and characters, we can understand
their journey and evaluate the meaning of The Awakening. Symbols throughout The Awakening
play an important role in the novel. One recurring symbol is water. Water can be seen as
purification or corruption. In this book, I believe water represents purification. As we learn at
the beginning of the book, Edna, the main character, can t swim. As the book progresses, Edna
becomes more intrigued by the water. Edna then decides to baptize herself in the water. Baptism
can be seen as rebirth because you are purifying yourself from sin. Edna makes references to how
she wasted her time in the water just splashing around, similar to a baby. Babies are born pure,
free from evil, and naked. At the end of the book, Edna is naked and chooses to drown herself.
This is a good example of purification because it is almost as if she were trying to free herself
from sin by ending her life, rather than living in a place where she knows she will continue to sin.
Zartman 2 Another important symbol in this book are the birds. The birds represent the freedom
Edna wants to have for herself, but never gets while she s alive. Both are trapped,

Persuasive Essay On Parents
There are many forms of parenting and as a parent myself, I am faced daily with decisions
regarding my children. It s my beliefs and decision that should affect how I chose to parent them.
However, in today s society how much slack are we as parents really given? We are sometimes
forced into making parental decisions solely based on state laws and regulations. Parents are being
held legally responsible for declining medical decisions regarding their children. Parentare also
being intimidated by medical professionals for choosing not to vaccinate their children. Judges are
ruling against legally fit parents for seeking second options. Parents should not be fighting the court
system for medical rights. Nor should parents feel bullied by the government system. They should
have the right to choose how they parent. There are many different parentingstyles, who gets to
dictate which is right? Not every family is the same, so why should the government be allowed to
decide these rights and responsibilities. No two families share the same beliefs and religions.
Parenting should not be a one size fits all. Parents should have the right to make medical and
educational decisions for their children without government interference unless there is proof of
neglect or abuse, because parents ultimately have their children best interest at heart. From the
moment your child is born, they are immediately given a series of routine test, ointments, vaccines
that unless its optional by the state you have no say in. Texas law requires health care providers

routinely been given to newborns. It s used to prevent neonatal conjunctivitis and complications
such as blindness that can be contracted through the birth canal of untreated gonorrhea or
chlamydia mothers. Refusing to comply is a Class B misdemeanor. Like any treatment, it comes
with side effects. These can be minimal but can cause redness, itching, stinging, or burning of the

the genomic era. Advances in NGS technologies have taken the implementation of SNPs for
genomic and genetic studies and NGS has become a turning point for next generation breeding
programs due to its reduced sequencing cost (Kim et al. 2016).
Whole genome resequencing (WGR)
Resequencing of elite cultivars, landraces, and wild genotypes based on the Williams 82 reference
genome sequence (Schmutz et al. 2010) has become an important tool to study allelic variation,
domestication events, allele diversification at candidate gene loci (Chung et al. 2014; Kim et al.
2010; Lam et al. 2011). As a good example of WGR approach for nematode resistance in soybean,
Xu et al. (2013) identified two RKN candidate genes in 29.7 kb interval through the resequencing of

Being a Vegetarian
Being a Vegetarian
Animals are my friends and I don t eat my friends.
George Bernard Shaw
Vegetarianism used to be an unusual lifestyle choice. Today it is becoming more common and
accepted by mainstream society. While there are many reasons for choosing a vegetarian diet, the
most important are health reasons, environmental and economic reasons, and, above all, ethical
reasons.
Health reasons alone are sufficient grounds for becoming a vegetarian. Research has shown that we
do not require meat in our diets and that it is actually healthier to avoid meat. Meat is high in
saturated fats which are known to cause clogged arteries Cultures that consume less meat than
North America have much lower cholesterol and lower rates of ... Show more content on

Economically, vegetarianism also has surprising advantages. Meat is inefficient because the
energy we can get from meat is only a small fraction of the energy found in the plants used to
feed the animals. If more people turned to a vegetarian diet, a lot more food would be available
for the world s population. In fact, if we all adopted a vegetarian diet, there would be no hunger in
the world.
Most importantly, we should be vegetarian for ethical reasons. Many people have ethical
problems with the killing of animals for food, especially because this killing is not absolutely
necessary. But even many of those who never think about this killing would feel compassion for
animals if they were faced with killing these animals themselves. Besides the cruelty involved in
the death of animals, there is even more cruelty involved in their lives. In our factory farms
chickens never see the light day, have there beaks cut off, and are forced to eat food containing
their own excrement. Baby cows that are destined to become veal are forced to spend their whole
lives chained to stables so small that the animals cannot turn around. In order to make their meat
tender they are feed a low iron diet. This artificial diet leads to joint problems, which cause the
animals to be in constant agony. Such cruelty is not justifiable, and by becoming a vegetarian each
individual can make a small difference.

Mr Keating Conformity
1. Define and explain conformity as you see it play out in the film. Give a few examples.
Conformity was present multiple times throughout the film. Not only did I observe it, but it was
also defined by Mr. Keating during class time. Conformity is when one or a few people are
influenced by a majority of other individuals to follow suit, hence not being themselves or
expressing any creativity. Conformity is negative because it causing an individual to not express
their opinions/beliefs and it is a non individualized way of living. The obvious example from the
filmwas when Mr. Keating explained conformity and how all the boys were walking at different
paces and then it eventually became synchronized. Also, some of the boys began clapping along
which then in turn resulted in all of the other boys clapping too. Another example is at the end...

Mr. Keating stresses the importance of carpe diem within the very first class. He has a unique
way of addressing this topic through showing them the pictures of the older individuals in the
showcases in the hallway and how they once were in the same position of feeling invincible. The
importance of this saying is that it is a constant reminder to make the most of our lifetime
because someday we are all going to die. We cannot keep waiting to do great things in the future,
but instead we need to be determined and take advantage of the now instead of the future. As Mr.
Keating said, we need to make our lives extraordinary. This cannot happen if we do not live each
day to it s fullest. Carpe diem made an impact on all of the boys which was noticeable throughout
the movie. Two examples are, Neil trying out for the play and Knox calling the girl he likes.
Whenever the boys needed motivation or wanted to do something scary, they shouted carpe diem

Bobcat Population Research Paper
Hunting and Trapping Bobcats in New Hampshire
In 2010 the University of New Hampshire did a study and estimated about 1400 bobcats in the
state of New Hampshire. Since 2007 the population has been growing by approximately ten
percent each year (NH Fish and Game). As they breed the population will continue to increase and
this could cause problems. This could increase diseases and property damage. In order to control
New Hampshire s bobcat population fifty hunting and trapping permits should be issued. Bobcat
hunting and trapping was first restricted in 1989 when the bobcat population went down. The
decline was blamed on overharvesting, but it was actually because of the weather patterns. The

Hedging Currency Risk at Aifs
Summary
AIFS is an American based company that offers travel abroad and exchange study services to both
college and high school students. While AIFS s revenues are denominated in American Dollars
(USD), most of their costs are in foreign currencies as Euros (EUR) and British Pounds (GBP).
Consequently, foreign exchange hedging has a crucial importance for the company because it
provides protection against different types of risk that derive from its activity.
In order to reduce risk, the company is using two hedging derivatives: forward contracts and put
options to sell dollars. The aim of the paper is to determine an appropriate hedging policy which
answers two main questions: how much to hedge, and in what proportions of forwards ... Show

Then, we took into consideration only a fluctuation of the exchange rate. The scenarios that we
analyzed covers different positions of the dollar against the euro: weak dollar (USD 1,48/EUR),
stable dollar (USD 1,22/EUR) and strong dollar (USD 1,01/EUR). Different coverage of costs with
hedging was also introduced in the analysis. The three main policies are of not hedging, 100%
hedging with forward contracts and 100% hedging with options.
All the future computations are in comparison with the impact zero scenario of a rate of USD
1,22/EUR and a volume of 25 000 sales. (Exhibit 2)
If the company chooses not to hedge the costs, and the dollar weakens against the euro reaching a
rate of USD 1,48/EUR, then it will encounter losses of $6,500,000 (Exhibit 1). On the other hand,
if the dollar strengthens to the level of USD 1,01/EUR, then the company will register a gain of
$5,250,000. (Exhibit 3)
But, even though the possibility of winning exists, the company is exposed to a greater risk if it
does not hedge. Moreover, the policy of the company is to ensure against the risk, not to speculate
on the foreign exchange market.
Exhibit 7 from the case study describes the currency development in medium term of the GBP and
EURO against the dollar. We can observe that the currencies are exposed to high volatility, which
means the company may register greater risk

Weather Associated On Weather Conditions
Generally to predict the future weather information we have to use the past weather reports. Todays
weather may not exactly match with weather of the same day in the privous year. The probability
that the weather condition of the day in consideration will match the same day in previous year is
very less. But the probability that it will match within the span of adjacent fortnight of previous
year is very high.So we can take the adjacent fortnights weather report into consideration to predict
the current day weather. To predict the future s weather condition, the variation in the conditions in
past years must be utilized. There are various approaches available in weather forecasting, from
relatively simple observation of the sky to highly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Artificial neural network was combined with the genetic algorithm to get the more optimized
prediction . An improved technique that uses artificial neural network with photovoltaic system
was proposed by Isa et al.that utilizes perceptron model with Levenberg Marquardt algorithm.
Apart from neural network Fuzzy logic has also been being used in weather prediction models.
The rainfall was classified into three fuzzy sets which can be predicted by making use of simple
fuzzy rules . Also a fuzzy self regression model was proposed by Lu Feng and Xu xiao Guang
which makes use of the form of self related sequence number according to observed number. The
self related coefficients were computed by making use of Fuzzy Logic . A combined approach of
neural network with Fuzzy Logic is being proposed for the weather prediction system. The work
has applied principle component analysis technique to the fuzzy data by making use of
Autoassociative neural networks.
But the main problem with the methods discussed above is most of they don t provide any
mathematicalrelationship between different parameters. Data not been being mathematically
described and analyzed. But a mathematical model that could represent the relationship among
previous data that could be used for prediction is still desired. A new sliding window approach for
the same is being proposed in this text for weather prediction.

Reign Of Terror DBQ
Long ago, people used to be persecuted and executed for having their own personal beliefs, this
period of time was known as the Reign of Terror. The Reign of Terror began after the execution
of Louis XVI on January 21, 1793, lasting almost 2 years. It was a period during the French
Revolution where waves of executions arose to those who were enemies of the state. This occurred
due to revolutionaries attempting to form a new government based on the freedom for citizens. In
order to achieve this, they went through extreme measures to reach their goal and were responsible
for the death of thousands. The Reign of Terrorwas not justified because it took away people s

Where both films suggest that the Hero s act upon their own freewill; true freewill does not exist
but is a synthesis constructed by the ego of their companion character. This creates justifications
for any crime or action taken by the Hero characters as they act in the name of justice and believe
they are acting freely.
Both the Hitchhikers Guild to The Galaxy and The Matrix has Myth Criticism complexes in nature.
They follow a hero that must fulfill a quest to discover himself and woo a female interest. In either
case the universality of their stories are evident as they are conflicted by the same dilemmas.
Carl Jung suggests that regardless of culture or historical period a part of the human mind
contains a collective unconscious shared by all members of the human species, a sort of
universal, primal memory. Myth Criticism considers this within its teachings by explaining that
all stories follow a universal trend called the Hero Cycle. Within this cycle the hero of the story
follows each of the steps to fulfilling his/her task. Along with the Hero Cycle, Myth Criticism
explains there are archetypes found in each piece of literature or art that are universal in nature.
Overall, it is found that the Myth Criticism base is used frequently as we as humans find solace in
the comforts of the Cycle, as it is familiar to us. In The Hitchhikers Guild to The Galaxy, the Hero
is portrayed as Arthur Dent. He is set into this role at the

Mass Media In The Media
Mass media is a large part of what the population consumes and identifies with; the fact that so
much of life is influenced by the media is unhealthy especially considering how some of its
messages are inherently sinister, and reach a worldwide audience. It has the ability to progress
or devolve a society of people with the imagery it chooses to display. In the documentary, Miss
Representation by Siebel Newsom, the point is raised The media is selling young people the idea
that girls and women s value lies in their youth, beauty, and sexuality and not in their capacity as
leaders. Boys learn that their success is tied to dominance, power, and aggression. We must value
people as whole humanbeings, not gendered stereotypes (2011, Siebel Newsom). Infantilization,
hypersexualization and dehumanization/objectification of women are epidemics that spread
throughout the media to a point where it is rare, and jarring, to see a womanrepresented without
those things. To contrast, men are often portrayed as powerful and/or of a high status. They are
allowed to age and given permission to be given genuinely human traits and characteristics. This
can severely impact the mindsets and behaviours of the individuals who consume these images.
When young women and girls are subjected to these images hundreds of times a day for years,
side effects include low self esteem, eating disorders, and self objectification.

Roaring Twenties Essay
The Roaring Twenties
The decade of 1920 1929 was a time of great change, reform, improvement, adjustment and alteration
of everything Americans had come to rely on. In other words everything changed. Not one part of
common life was unaffected. Exciting new events happened in sports, entertainment, science,
politics, communication and transportation. It was the age of prohibition, it was the age of
prosperity, and it was the age of downfall. The twenties were the age of everything. It has been
called the decade of enjoyment, employment, and for some, disappointment.

Jazz was popular for its spontaneity and flare, and it soon captured the new record industry. By
1924, there were more than 2.5 million radios in American households. In 1920 the
Westinghouse Company launched the first radio station, KDKA in Pittsburgh. KDKA mostly
broadcast news reports and talk shows until 1921, when the first musical radio program was
aired. Sound movies were first seen in the 1920 s. The sound was not on the film, but on
synchronized phonograph records, it became very popular and the first full length talkie , The
Jazz Singer , was released. In 1928, a 27 year old Walt Disney introduced his first animated
cartoon. The lead character, Mickey Mouse would later go on to star in the first animated cartoon

The latter describing the sequestration of experience. One of the main threats to this is the notion of
globalisation and everyone being caught up in it. Losing a sense of place and identity due to the
change in lifestyle and other aspects feel beyond our control. This involves exposure to crisis
situations. Giddens (1991, p 184) says that: a quot;crisis quot; exists whenever activities concerned
with important goals in life of an individual or a collectivity suddenly appear inadequate. Crises in
this sense become a quot;normal quot; part of life, but by definition can not be routinised Giddens
(1991, p 184) states that it is the crisis prone nature of late modernity that is causing may of the
tribulations of the self and this creates a general uneasiness.
As a result many will withdraw from society in order to preserve ontological security and contain
some of the forms of anxiety (Giddens, 1991). Giddens (1991) finds a close link between the
sequestration of experience, trust and the search for intimacy. He argues that trust vested in abstract
systems that help with day to day security is not as valid as trust vested in persons, and that the
latter provides the moral satisfaction. This leads us into Giddens analysis of the pure relationship

Literature Review On Media Violence
PSY 4111 Literature Review. E. Langslow
Trends across research suggest exposure to media violence positively correlates with subsequent
violent behaviour
In this era of internet connectivity, access to an array of violent media stimuli is readily available.
Scientific exploration of the effects of such exposure on real world violent behaviour carries
potential ramifications for the safety of global communities. Media violence is understood here as
stimuli that includes depictions of violence or calls to violent action and includes image, video,
television and gaming. Violent behavior is defined as behavior causing emotional or physical harm

The Bobo doll study found that children were more likely to imitate violent behaviour they
witnessed in a film if they perceived the behaviour would generate positive outcomes (Bandura,
Ross, Ross, 1963). Later findings across three decades of cognitive research on the effects of
learning and priming concluded thoughts are connected by similar association, with media stimuli
cognitively relating to memories and responses to trigger violent schemata retrieval in real world
situations (Berkowitz, 1984; Bushman Geen, 1990; L Rowell Huesmann Eron, 2013). Findings in
two general aggression model (GAM) studies that complement cognitive frameworks, both
monitored increases in physical arousal as potential determinants for short term violent behavior.
Again, positive correlations were found following exposure to media violence.(Bushman Anderson,
2001; Thomas, Horton, Lippincott, Drabman, 1977). Environmental factors
A range of studies assert that causes of violent behavior are complex at the level of environmental
influence and compare other learning, modelling and disinhibiting factors. This is an area where
opposition to the hypothesis is more common. Two longitudinal studies assessing levels of violence
pre and post the introduction of television found a positive correlation, however

In-Depth Analysis Of The Great Gatsby
F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby has been viewed as a standout masterpiece of American
writing since it was published in the 1920s. The novel has been distinctly consecrated in American
culture where it remains applicable and regularly read over ninety years after publication. Why it
is still relevant turns out to be clear when reading the novel. Fitzgerald tells a moderately contained
and straightforward story by using an elaborate style and concerning different distinctive topics. In
addition, it lets plenty of space for alternative views and speculations about some elements of the
novel. This essay will focus on a in depth analysis of Nick Carraway, with the intention of

was the second time in his life that he had been drunk and that everything therefore had a dim,

important scene for characterizing Nick s sexuality. Nick describes McKee as a pale, feminine

confused vagueness could be seen as a representation of their intoxication, but it could also be
argued that when looking closely, their talk about their plans to get lunch (when asked where,
McKee answers anywhere [39]) is subliminal homoerotic intended (because they are not planning

Introduction
Bukidnon is a place located at the heart of Mindanao. On the one hand, it is a place that offers a
quiet place to rest and reckon among locals and visitors. On the other hand, Bukidnon also has
delicacies that encourages locals, tourists and the like to patronize because of its distinct taste, smell
and its affordability. For instance, Binaki is a delicacy in Bukidnon that is made out of maize
which is perfect for merienda. It can be found in the market or along the highway. This is

  • 2. The Purity and Purification of Solids-Melting Point Essay Introduction: The method for purifying solids is done by observing the melting point. This is important because if there is an impure substance the melting point would be depression and the melting range would be broader. By finding the melting point of a known substance one can then observe an unknown substance s meltingpoint to see if the points are the same and try to figure out the unknown. Experimental Section: The first known substance we used was Biphenyl. 68 degrees Celsius is the known melting point. We used the capillary method and observed the melting point using a Mel temp device. The next substance whose melting point we observed was 90 % Naphthalene, 10 % Biphenyl. In the last part of the experiment I observed the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the first trial the temperature was climbing quickly and the Biphenyl melted quickly. During the next two trials the Mel temp was set at a lower setting and our melting point was closer to the known melting point. Conclusion: I have determined that Unknown E is Acetanilide. The melting point of the mixtures was very close to the melting point of plain Unknown E. The 2 Chloracetamide and Unknown E s mixture had to high of a melting point. Based on my results and observations I would conclude that Unknown E is Acetanilide. References: Fessenden, Fessenden, and Feist. Organic Laboratory Techniques. 3rd Edition. Brooks/Cole. • 4. Child Observation Paper Child Observation Paper: In early April, I traveled to Wautoma, Wisconsin to observe a fourth grade student that attends Parkside Middle School. I observed a nine year old male student during the first three hours of his school day. Within these three hours he attended his daily classroom morning meeting, followed by two electives; physical education and keyboarding. This seemed to be the less structured part of the day and during this time he tended to act out and seek attention. Examples of this would be talking out of turn during the share time in his morning meeting, refusing to stand and say the national anthem, and continuously making different noises during the teachers lessons. After attending his electives, the student went ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rather than being inspired by the work of Freud, Kohlberg s theory of moral development is a cognitive developmental theory was inspired by Piaget s stages of cognitive development. Kohlberg s theory is made up of three different levels; the preconventional level, the conventional level, and the postconventional or principled level. The three levels are each broken up into two separate stages. For the purpose of this observation, we will be mainly focusing on the preconventional level and the conventional level of moral development. Kohlberg intended the preconventional level to be focused toward infants and preschool children, however the students behavior more closely related to this level than that of the conventional level which is aimed toward his age range. The preconventional level is where children learn that their actions have consequences. The first stage of this level is the punishment and obedience orientation stage, children in this stage are focusing on the consequences of their actions rather than the logical thing to do. The following stage is the instrumental purpose orientation stage, within this stage children tend to believe that if they do someone a favor, that person should do a favor in return (Berk Meyers, ... Iago is a manipulative character showing hatred especially to his superior. In the play, Iagois the destructive personage yet not all characters have known about his plots, he has been the reason of the demolition of Othellowhom thinks himself to be an outsider to Venice. • 6. The Use Of Food And Beverage Advertising In Public Schools The use of food and beverage advertising in schools greatly impacts the purchasing behavior of youth. With the abundance of advertisements plastered around elementary, middle, and high schools, students believe that the foods and beverages advertised in their schools are what should be purchasing and consuming. Advertisements directed at children in schools are misleading. Children think it s okay to eat these food and drink these beverages because they see the advertisements in a place of learning, a place where they believe whatever is taught to them is correct. During the Obama administration, food and beverage advertisingwas a controversial topic in regards to First Lady, Michelle Obama. Food and beverage promotion can be found almost everywhere on school grounds. Schools have food and beverage sponsors, like local restaurants and beverage companies that advertise in the lunchroom and even scoreboards in high schools ( Michelle ). According to a study completed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), 93% of marketingin schools, or $149 million, is related to beverages, and many soda companies already have started to transition their sales and advertising in schools from sugary sodas and sports drinks to their own healthier products ( Michelle ). • 7. To What Extent Is Lorca’s Use of Symbolism and Imagery in... To what extent is Lorca s use of symbolism and imagery in The House of Bernarda Alba central to the unfolding of his tragic tale? When Federico Garcia Lorca talked about his new play, The House of Bernarda Alba, he said that it was pure realism and did not have a drop of poetry in it, however if you look closely you can see expressionism elements. The tragedy of the play has been emphasised by symbolism and imagery to help the unfolding of his tragic tale by presenting the fears, the fact that They ve been robbed of the capacity of hope and tensions of all the characters; showing the bleak ending for the girls. Lorca has used the symbol of heat in The House of Bernarda Alba to show the utter desperation for passion and male attention: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This symbolism is rather tragic in a way as everyone knows that white does not stay clean forever. The colour white also emphasises the colour black which the family are forced to wear by Bernarda: keep your mourning clothes on your backs . The symbolic use of black reminds the audience of just how long Bernarda s daughters will have to endure the mourning of Antonio Maria Benavides and how much it will affect them. On the other hand the traditional colour the black stand for is death, and there is an abundance of that in this play. At the end of Act Two there is a women who has had a bastard baby and Bernarda reacts in a horrible was Let any woman who drags her honour in the dirt pay the price . This could foreshadow what is going to happen to Adela as she has dragged her honour in the dirt . Also there is a question at weather she is pregnant: clutching herself . This could show that Adela is pregnant and that she sympathises with the women who is being tortured. In a way Bernarda is sentencing these girls to life of solitude and unhappiness and Adela also selfishly prolongs this by killing herself. The lack of colour and of personal opinions in this house hold almost represents a type asylum, or as is suggested They appear as nuns, not as eligible young women . This lack of colour makes Adela s lover for colour stand out even more. When Adela presents ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Reflective Essay On Yoga What is yoga to you? Most people would say it s a form of exercise, or maybe some would say it will improve your flexibility. Well to Natalie Bell it s so much more than that. Natalie sees yoga as a way of life, as a form of spirituality and becoming one with the body and mind, and of course it keeps her flexible and in shape as well. I met Natalie through my mother she is her friend and yoga instructor and a very interesting person who I wanted to learn more about. I was curious what would interest someone in a life dedicated to yoga, and how exactly one becomes a yogi or master of yoga and gets into teaching it. I learned that Natalie took a 500 hour course in the Yoga Teacher Training program at the Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Here she learned the skills to be able to instruct a class and mastered a form of yoga called Hatha Vinyasa. I learned interestingly enough that there is not one type of yoga but actually around 20 different kinds of yoga you can learn. However I really wanted to learn why she d be so interested in this and I found out that she is an avid traveller and during a trip to India when she was younger she met yogi s and lots of hindupeople and learned a little bit about that culture and it really interested her. So, when she returned home to Nova Scotia she started doing yoga on her own and ended up eventually pursuing the 500 hour yoga teacher course and completing it, Natalie is also a second degree black belt in ... • 9. Group Project Research Paper This is going to be a group project. Most students dread hearing those words. I know that I groan inside because I think group projects are awkward and slightly unfair. Considering that more and more teachers are assigning group projects more often, I decided to look into the benefits of group projects. After doing a simple Google search, I realized that students gain many skills and learn important lessons when doing group projects. Group projects can be extremely beneficial to students as they prepare to enter the world of work. One of the most important skills it teaches young adults it to collaborate and work with others. Often times, people are going to have to work with someone they may not like. Members of the group may disagree and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cathy Middlecamp, who writes on Teaching Stories, surveyed students on their thoughts about group projects and observed that dictators ignore the opinions of others and piledrive their own agenda while not allowing others to share their knowledge. Working in group projects is the opportunity for these students to practice humility and listening skills. If you are a quieter student, speak up and let this person know that they need to take it down a level. If you are being the controller, take a step back and let someone else do the talking for a while. On the other side of the coin are the students who slack off in a group project. They think that because there are others in the group they do not have to do that much work. The less motivated students lean on the kids who are working hard to get a good grade to get them through the class. Evidently there is going to be disagreement about approaches and information. Some students are too stubborn to accept an opposing viewpoint and refuse to compromise. Compromising is a skill everyone must learn! When students are allowed to choose their own groups, the quieter students often get put into whatever group needs an extra person. Just because the student is shy does not mean that they do not have good ideas to contribute. Make sure that everyone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Psychoanalytic critics handle the text like analyzing the author s own inner world as Ann B. • 14. In Cold Blood And Truman Capote And In Cold Blood In Cold Blood, a nonfictional narrative explores a different side of four brutal murders in hopes to humanize the murderers while, on the other hand, the film, Capote, explores the creation of the story as well as Truman Capote s relationships with the killers. Though the variants tell slightly different stories, they converge on certain stylistic elements such as contrast. From the cheerful shots of yellow, brightness, and loud ambiance, to somber, cold, framed shots of solemn feeling in Capoteas well as substantial differences in the natures of the characters from In Cold Blood, both use contrast to express the purpose of the pieces and uncover point of view. A recurring theme of through Capote and In Cold Blood is the contrast of Perry s nature, which constructs a more complex character with depth. Throughout the book, Perry displays two conflicting personalities. A majority of the time Perry is insecure, submissive, and childlike. His relationship with Dick highlights his insecurity and dependency, for example when he lies to Dick about killing a man to seem more intimidating. As a parent when teaching the child to throw, it is important to begin at a level that the child can achieve and then slowly increase the level of difficulty, so that the child is stretched slightly (taking steps backwards, or throwing for longer distance), each time but does not lose confidence in achieving the task. Also, make sure while each step is completed give the child lots and lots of praise and encouragement. We can compare Valentine to Sonnet 18 written by William Shakespeare and Sonnet 43 by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Despite having to perhaps read more deeply into Sonnet 18 to understand its purpose, we can see from the first line; Shall I compare thee to a summer s day? that it is of a romantic genre. This line can also be linked to Romeo and Juliet perhaps suggesting that Shakespeare has emotional attachments to the message he is attempting to articulate, as he uses this motive in more than one of his pieces. • 18. The Shame Of A Shame Based Culture Brene Brown said this, We judge people in areas where we re vulnerable to shame, especially picking folks who are doing worse than we re doing. If I feel good about my parenting, I have no interest in judging other people s choices. If I feel good about my body, I don t go around making fun of other people s weight or appearance. We re hard on each other because we re using each other as a launching pad out of our own perceived deficiency. I love the power in this quote of comparing how we love and accept people when we are unashamed, versus when we are ashamed and feeling unworthy. The problem with living in a shame based culture is it becomes increasingly normal, and therefore how shame affects our identity has gone unrecognized and undefined in most of our lives. This is how Brene explains shame, Shame is the intensely painful feeling or experience of believing we are flawed and therefore unworthy of acceptance and belonging. Women often experience shame when they are entangled in a web of layered, conflicting and competing social community expectations. Shame leaves women feeling trapped, powerless and isolated. We are not alone in feeling unworthy. Shame causes us to feel unlovable and damaged, yet Christ is in the business of restoring dignity back to the human soul. So, in a sense, religion actually came into Japan in the 6th century, when Buddhism, founded by Prince Shotoku (571 622), was transmitted to Japan from China (Web Japan 2). Elizabeth Cady Argument Analysis If Elizabeth Cady Stanton was alive today, she would be definitely pleased to see the advancements of women s rights, however, she would not be completely satisfied and probably disappointed to see that many of the issues she brought up during her time are still being dealt with today. Elizabeth Cady Stanton was highly critical of the sexual double standard and the lack of equal education for women. She believed that men should be placed at the same moral standard as women and that women should be given the same opportunity in education as men. Therefore, men should be punished in the same way as women are to be punished. In addition to leveling the plane on morality, Stanton demands that women should have the right to be trailed by a jury of our own peers (DuBois 46). By allowing women to be part of the jury in criminal cases, specifically the cases involving women and sex, more men would be held responsible for their actions. In the case of Abson, the jury who found her guilty and let the black man go free was most likely a jury filled with men. Stanton would argue that she was unfairly tried because according to her, men fails to do justice to women in her best estate, and that she was not represented in the jury. In her 1854 address to the Legislature of NewYotk, Stanton points out how no rank of men have ever been satisfied with being tried by jurors higher or lower in the civil or political scale than themselves, that slaveholders cannot make laws and execute laws for slaves, nor can nobleman do the same for peasants, therefore she states that neither can man make and execute just laws for women (DuBois 46). The Gravitational Slingshot Essay The Gravitational Slingshot The gravitational slingshot is a way that scientists have truly harnessed the gravitational pull of a planet by using it to launch satellites and other useful projectiles towards their desired locations. This method was developed through the use of Newton s Laws of Gravity and Kepler s Laws of Planetary Motion. When these ideas of gravity and the shape of a planet s orbit were brought together piece by piece, this new theory changed how a projectile traveling through space could simply cross an orbital pattern, which would in turn change the path of the moving object. The change in the path accelerates the object at a higher rate and sends it speeding off in its proper direction. The gravitational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kepler established the Laws of Planetary Motion. The first Law states that the orbit of every planet is an ellipse with the Sun at one of the two foci. The second law states that a line joining a planet and the Sun sweeps out equal areas during equal intervals of time. And the final Law tells that the square of the orbital period of a planet is directly proportional to the cube of the semi major axis of its orbit. Kepler s Laws also come into play with the use of the gravitational slingshot, because Kepler believed that the orbit that a planet takes around another body follows an elliptical pattern, instead of traveling in a perfect circle. Of course each planet has a specific elliptical orbit, just as humans have different fingerprints to identify them. Before launching their equipment into space, each planet must have its pattern identified to ensure accurate results for the launch. This knowledge helps scientists identify where the ellipses are in relation to the paths of orbit so that they can launch satellites in the proper direct, at the proper time, with the proper velocity. Combining both of these sets of theories together has lead the way to the effect we know as the gravitational slingshot effect. Today, the gravity assist effect is used extremely often by NASA and the Air Force. It is the most fuel efficient, naturally occurring booster in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a matter of fact, every year roughly approximately 1 2 drugs and 6 8 medical devices are discontinued from the U.S. market because of safety issue. Nevertheless, the FDA is charged with assessing the protection and value of medical devices and drugs assessing the advantages versus danger of every merchandise. Nonetheless, the FDA authorization procedures that are utilized for drugs and devices may vary extensively through the CDER. For instances the drug expansion program, takes about anywhere from 8 to 10 years, and starts with a few pre clinical studies that evaluate genetic and safety activity in a variety of animal models. Most manufacturers have to propose to the FDA in advance what is called an Investigational New Drug (IND) request to show outcomes of preclinical testing before it can be tried on humans. This technology is known as Multiprotocol Label Switching, or MPLS. Inspired by Ipsilon Networks, developed by Cisco, and standardized by the IETF, this service has become a dominant competitor. Independent think tank, Nemertes Research has estimated that nearly eighty five percent of companies are already using MPLS today. MPLS encapsulated PDUs move through a WAN via Label Switched Paths (LSPs), which are similar to Frame Relay s virtual circuits. PDUs with closely related paths are grouped into Forwarding Equivalence classes (FECs). FECs are not synonymous with LSPs, as multiple FECs often traverse the same LSP. Regular interior routing protocols are present on the WAN, but only to spread topology data so that LSPs can be created. They are not involved in individual forwarding decisions. Traffic engineering extensions can even be added to create backup LSPs and provide QoS. MPLS has many advantages over competitive services. It was originally developed as a faster technique for moving data between LANs. Since only a single router has to fully inspect incoming traffic, and all others are merely reacting to the conclusions of this original inspection, speed is improved from the paradigm. However many advancements in hardware have somewhat closed the gap on this difference. Nonetheless, MPLS remains a fair choice for those who wish to optimize the speed of their network, and it has many things to offer beyond that original intent. The Multiprotocol part of it s name is important in explaining many of these perks. What is meant by multiprotocol is that it s compatible with any network layer protocol. And not only that, it s also friendly with other WAN services such as Frame Relay and ATM. This means that any existing legacy networks or variant adjacent WANs will play well ... • 35. Erik Erison s Theory Of Developmental Stages Erik Erikson s Theory of Developmental Stages Erik Erikson was born to a Danish mother in Frankfurt, Germany in 1902. He was raised by his biological mother and his stepfather. Erik Erikson grew up never knowing his biological father and this perhaps this was the reason why he started to research psychological development (Thomas, 2015). In the early 1900 s, Erik Erikson started to study theories on human behavior such as the research of Id, Ego and Super Ego, which was Sigmund Freud s findings. Later on Erik Erison would veer off of Freud s findings about biological instincts, and go on to research that social interactions are what drives us (Thomas, 2015) into becoming mature adults with a sense of accomplished identity. Erikson found that each stage of development occurs and is a building block for the next stage of development. Out of eight distinctly defined stages of development, five stages happen before the age of 18. Erikson assumes that a crisis occurs at each stage of development (Simplypsychology.org). If one stage of development is hindered, the next stage is likely to falter, resulting in major difficulties later in life. Erikson emphasizes that much of the psychological development in one s life occurs during adolescents, and that personality is greatly shaped through the social experiences that occur during that time. The first developmental stage of a person that Erikson identified was Trust vs. Mistrust (Myers DeWall, 2014). This stage occurs from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Theme Of Symbolism In The Awakening The Awakening: The Symbols, the Characters, and the Journey Mythological criticism relies on archetypes. Archetypes determine the form and function of literary works (Delahoyde). Archetypes are the unknowable basic forms personified or concretized in recurring images, symbols, or patterns (Delahoyde). By recognizing symbols and characters, we can understand their journey and evaluate the meaning of The Awakening. Symbols throughout The Awakening play an important role in the novel. One recurring symbol is water. Water can be seen as purification or corruption. In this book, I believe water represents purification. As we learn at the beginning of the book, Edna, the main character, can t swim. As the book progresses, Edna becomes more intrigued by the water. Edna then decides to baptize herself in the water. Baptism can be seen as rebirth because you are purifying yourself from sin. Edna makes references to how she wasted her time in the water just splashing around, similar to a baby. Babies are born pure, free from evil, and naked. At the end of the book, Edna is naked and chooses to drown herself. This is a good example of purification because it is almost as if she were trying to free herself from sin by ending her life, rather than living in a place where she knows she will continue to sin. Zartman 2 Another important symbol in this book are the birds. The birds represent the freedom Edna wants to have for herself, but never gets while she s alive. Both are trapped, ... It s my beliefs and decision that should affect how I chose to parent them. However, in today s society how much slack are we as parents really given? We are sometimes forced into making parental decisions solely based on state laws and regulations. Parents are being held legally responsible for declining medical decisions regarding their children. Parentare also being intimidated by medical professionals for choosing not to vaccinate their children. Judges are ruling against legally fit parents for seeking second options. Parents should not be fighting the court system for medical rights. Nor should parents feel bullied by the government system. They should have the right to choose how they parent. There are many different parentingstyles, who gets to dictate which is right? Not every family is the same, so why should the government be allowed to decide these rights and responsibilities. No two families share the same beliefs and religions. Parenting should not be a one size fits all. Parents should have the right to make medical and educational decisions for their children without government interference unless there is proof of neglect or abuse, because parents ultimately have their children best interest at heart. Health reasons alone are sufficient grounds for becoming a vegetarian. Research has shown that we do not require meat in our diets and that it is actually healthier to avoid meat. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Economically, vegetarianism also has surprising advantages. Meat is inefficient because the energy we can get from meat is only a small fraction of the energy found in the plants used to feed the animals. If more people turned to a vegetarian diet, a lot more food would be available for the world s population. In fact, if we all adopted a vegetarian diet, there would be no hunger in the world. Most importantly, we should be vegetarian for ethical reasons. Many people have ethical problems with the killing of animals for food, especially because this killing is not absolutely necessary. But even many of those who never think about this killing would feel compassion for animals if they were faced with killing these animals themselves. Besides the cruelty involved in the death of animals, there is even more cruelty involved in their lives. In our factory farms chickens never see the light day, have there beaks cut off, and are forced to eat food containing their own excrement. Baby cows that are destined to become veal are forced to spend their whole lives chained to stables so small that the animals cannot turn around. • 51. Tribulations Of The Self (sociology) Essay What constitutes the tribulations of the self in contemporary society, according to Anthony Giddens? Do you agree? Give reasons for your answer. This essay will seek an explanation of what constitutes the tribulations of the self according to Anthony Giddens (1991). In the first part of this paper, I discuss some central ways language has been viewed focusing the review on social constructivist writings as well as those stemming from the study of human development. In the second part of this paper, I discuss data that leads to the reconsideration of aspects of the language selfhood interface. I conclude by suggesting some future avenues of research.First the essay will outline the various tribulations that Giddens describes in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This would cause anxiety and result in the withdrawal from certain experiences/ activities to maintain the ontology. The latter describing the sequestration of experience. One of the main threats to this is the notion of globalisation and everyone being caught up in it. Losing a sense of place and identity due to the change in lifestyle and other aspects feel beyond our control. This involves exposure to crisis situations. Giddens (1991, p 184) says that: a quot;crisis quot; exists whenever activities concerned with important goals in life of an individual or a collectivity suddenly appear inadequate. Crises in this sense become a quot;normal quot; part of life, but by definition can not be routinised Giddens (1991, p 184) states that it is the crisis prone nature of late modernity that is causing may of the tribulations of the self and this creates a general uneasiness. As a result many will withdraw from society in order to preserve ontological security and contain some of the forms of anxiety (Giddens, 1991). Giddens (1991) finds a close link between the sequestration of experience, trust and the search for intimacy. He argues that trust vested in abstract systems that help with day to day security is not as valid as trust vested in persons, and that the latter provides the moral satisfaction. This leads us into Giddens analysis of the pure relationship and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Literature Review On Media Violence PSY 4111 Literature Review. E. Langslow Trends across research suggest exposure to media violence positively correlates with subsequent violent behaviour In this era of internet connectivity, access to an array of violent media stimuli is readily available. Scientific exploration of the effects of such exposure on real world violent behaviour carries potential ramifications for the safety of global communities. Media violence is understood here as stimuli that includes depictions of violence or calls to violent action and includes image, video, television and gaming. Violent behavior is defined as behavior causing emotional or physical harm expressed verbally or physically. Whilst there remains no causal proof for the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Bobo doll study found that children were more likely to imitate violent behaviour they witnessed in a film if they perceived the behaviour would generate positive outcomes (Bandura, Ross, Ross, 1963). Later findings across three decades of cognitive research on the effects of learning and priming concluded thoughts are connected by similar association, with media stimuli cognitively relating to memories and responses to trigger violent schemata retrieval in real world situations (Berkowitz, 1984; Bushman Geen, 1990; L Rowell Huesmann Eron, 2013). Findings in two general aggression model (GAM) studies that complement cognitive frameworks, both monitored increases in physical arousal as potential determinants for short term violent behavior. Again, positive correlations were found following exposure to media violence.(Bushman Anderson, 2001; Thomas, Horton, Lippincott, Drabman, 1977). Environmental factors A range of studies assert that causes of violent behavior are complex at the level of environmental influence and compare other learning, modelling and disinhibiting factors. This is an area where opposition to the hypothesis is more common. Two longitudinal studies assessing levels of violence pre and post the introduction of television found a positive correlation, however ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. In-Depth Analysis Of The Great Gatsby F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby has been viewed as a standout masterpiece of American writing since it was published in the 1920s. The novel has been distinctly consecrated in American culture where it remains applicable and regularly read over ninety years after publication. Why it is still relevant turns out to be clear when reading the novel. Fitzgerald tells a moderately contained and straightforward story by using an elaborate style and concerning different distinctive topics. In addition, it lets plenty of space for alternative views and speculations about some elements of the novel. This essay will focus on a in depth analysis of Nick Carraway, with the intention of showcasing his character traits, background and relations, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nick travels to New York from West Egg with Tom Buchanan, stopping on the way to pick up Myrtle, Tom s secret affair. They then head to an apartment where they, together with Myrtles sister and the married couple, the McKees, have a party. Nick comments that at this afternoon it was the second time in his life that he had been drunk and that everything therefore had a dim, hazy cast over it (27 32). At this party Nick meets the photographer Mr. McKee, which is a important scene for characterizing Nick s sexuality. Nick describes McKee as a pale, feminine man (32) and it can be assumed that there is some sort of attraction between the two men, because of events that will follow. Nick and McKee end up leaving the party together, something Maggie Gordon Froehlich says clearly (if subtly) suggests a pickup (215). The pair drunkenly stumble into the elevator where they start making vague plans about going to lunch (39). At first sight, the confused vagueness could be seen as a representation of their intoxication, but it could also be argued that when looking closely, their talk about their plans to get lunch (when asked where, McKee answers anywhere [39]) is subliminal homoerotic intended (because they are not planning lunch at all, but rather planning to do something else). Whether or not the offer is salacious, the non specificity is suggestive an leads questions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Our understanding of taste and flavor has exploded with revelations of the myriad and complex ways that food messes with our consciousness and of all the ways that our biases filter the taste experience. Deliciousness is both ingrained and learned, both personal and universal. It is a product of all five senses (hearing included) interacting in unexpected ways, those sensory signals subject to gross revision by that clump of nerve tissue we call the brain. These cells have chemical receptors attuned to the five basic tastes bitter, sweet, sour, salt and umami. These five tastes are enough to help determine if the thing we just put into our mouth should go any farther if it s sweet or savory and thus a probable source of nutrients or if it s bitter and potentially poisonous. Yet they can t get close to communicating the complexity of the flavors that we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
