Machiavellian Ruler
Ten characteristics of a good Machiavellian ruler are that he must be Prudent, tactical, considerate,
diligent, enchanting, meticulous, noble, observant, avoidance of hatred or despise, and war wise.
A prince must be prudent and observant because he must be aware of those that surround him, he
should keep a close watch on his servants. In chapter XXIII Machiavelli writes, Therefore, a
prudent prince must hold to a third mode, choosing wise men in his state; and only to these should
he give freedom. .A Machiavellian ruler is also diligent and considerate of the people that he rules.
In chapter XVII Machiavelli writes, A prince, therefore, so as to keep his subjects united and

Theme Of Love In La Belle Dame Sans Merci
Bitter. Sweet. Tender. Love. This subjective idea may refer to a concept, a feeling, an attitude, an
emotion, one could have towards another. Throughout history, one s perception on love may vary
due to the ideology they were being indoctrinated with as well as their family background. Given
that different historical periods may affect one s perception on their idea of love, an analysis on the
poems La Belle Dame sans Merci by John Keats, My Last Duchess by Robert Browning, and
Mother in a Refugee Camp by Chinua Achebe, will be made in order to examine and explore how
poets living in different times present love in their own unique approach.
La Belle Dame sans Merci is a ballad written by English poet John Keats in the year 1819, where ...

When the knight and the woman was having a sexual intercourse, She looked at him as she did
love, / And made sweet moan The declarative, she looked at him as she did love expresses the
idea of unrequited love. The woman may have only decided upon having a sexual intercourse
with him to favour his sexual desires, yet it does not represent that she has an affection for him.
On the other hand an iambic tetrameter is also used in the same quotation as a motif of the
knight s heartbeat, this represents the excitement and passionate emotions he has within the
relationship and sexual intercourse. A sense of negativity can be seen in the line And made
sweet moan , the iambic dimeter in this line has a foreboding effect to it, hinting that love
between the woman and the knight will not last long. Likewise to La Belle Dame sans Merci ,
Keats short poem The day is gone, and all its sweets are gone! also signifies his role in the
Romanticism movement by the reinforcement of his individual expression and obsessive nature
towards his lover Fanny Brawne. This is evident when Keats display the sincere and direct
emotions of himself in the title The day is gone, and all its sweets are gone! The dependent
clause, and all its sweets are gone is a metaphor that the sweetness of their relationship has
disappeared due to the distance between Keats and Brawne. This metaphor can be likened to La
Belle Dame sans Merci through the knight s loneliness and sentimental emotions when he waits
for the woman he loves. The intensifier all reinforces Keats desires to see Brawne, not seeing
her for a day does not only signify the loss of sweetness, but also marking the end of his day. He is
eager to see Brawne, and by not seeing her the sweetness of his day, the significance of his day has
vanished, disappeared. This poem can

How Did Winslow Homer Influence Art
One of the most highly regarded painters of the nineteenth century is Winslow Homer. From his
birth in Boston, Massachusetts, he began learning about art. Homer s mother was a water color
artist and taught him a lot of the techniques he used in his works. The Snap the Whip painting is
probably Homer s most famous paintingand exemplifies the ideals he tried to get across. All in all,
Homer was one of the most influential painters in American history. Winslow Homer was born in
Boston, Massachusetts on February 24, 1836. From an early age Homer showed interest in art.
His mother was a watercolor painter and taught him many of her techniques. Growing up in
Cambridge, Massachusetts Homer learned the aspects of being a printmaker. After living in New
York for a few years, he began to practice oil painting. While... Show more content on

A common theme for Homer was to make paintings that were reminiscent of the simpler times
before the Civil War and industrialization period. This is evident in one of Homer s most famous
paintings, Snap the Whip . This painting shows schoolboys, just released from the small local
schoolhouse, enjoying nature and playing outside. His paintings also had a common theme of
representing how the nation had become unified once again with the conclusion of the Civil
War. In his painting Snap the Whip , you can clearly tell this from the locking of arms between
boys representing teamwork. Oceans and bodies of water were also a common theme in his art
works. You can see this quite clearly in his 1876 painting Breezing Up . Homer s most common
art media was Oil Paint. Almost every single one of Homer s famous paintings is painted in oil
paint. Overall, Homer had many influences in his work, but the importance he placed on
simplicity before the complex post Civil War industrial period is ever present in all of his works.

Tinker In The Chrysanthemums
The short story The Chrysanthemums written by John Steinbeck. In this story, there are three
characters. Elisa who loves to do the gardening and a strong lady, Henry Allen who a meaning
well rancher and last character is called Tinker who is a very different from the way we think
about him. Tinker work is to mend pots and sharpen knives and scissors. My essay will talk about
Tinker who is a manipulative person and self centered/greedy person. First, tinker is a normal
human being but in reality, he is the person who is very manipulative and he knows how to turn
things in his way. His personality is quite different. For example, his hair and beard were greying
but he did not look old.Tinker started to talk to Elisa through his work. He started to tell her that

Most people just ruin scissors trying to sharpen em, but I know how. I got the special tool. It s a
little bobbit kind of thing and patented. But it sure does the trick (p.205, para.44). Tinker just
want to impress Elisa so that she could say that he can come in her garden. Another thing, he did
with Elisa that he started to tell her that how he is really hungry and he thinks that he will not
eat anything at tonight. The sharpen things helped him to earn something because that was his
work that helped him to eat something for a day.. He said that people in Seattle to San Diego
save their things to sharpen because they know that he is good in his works to sharpen and it
also save money. He said I ain t had a thing today. Maybe I won t have any supper tonight. You
see I m off my regular road. I know folks on the highway clear from Seattle to San Diego. They
save their things for me sharpen up because they know I do it so good and save them money
(p.205, para.48). He needs Elisa sympathy so that she can give him something and plus he can

A Woman s Descent Into Madness
Shayna Pospisil

English 112

A women s descent into madness Hamlet is praised as one of the greatest literary works ever
written but unlike the title, many characters play key roles in the development of the story and his
progression towards revenge induced madness. One such character is Hamlet s lover Ophelia. She
is a pivotal character in the effectiveness as well as execution of the plot for revenge. One fact
that is commonly short sited is the relationship Ophelia has with Hamlet and how that ultimately
affects his road towards revenge. Without Ophelia there is no Hamlet. Ophelia s innocence, lack
of knowledge and ignorance, and weakness of the mind all play a key role in not only her own
but also Hamlet s demise. One of the most talked about subjects in the play itself is Ophelia s
innocence of purity. Because Hamlet was going to Denmark a relationship with Ophelia would
never work therefore her father felt the intense need to protect her innocence. Any kind of
relationship would be detrimental to not only Ophelia but her family as well. If Ophelia were to
lose her purity before marriage she would no longer be desirable to any other man because she
would be used goods . That would reflect not only on herself but on her family. Another
interesting point is just how protective her brother Laertes is of her virtue. In Act I, Laertes gives
advice to Ophelia on the pitfalls of a pre marital relationship in a lengthy speech that s geared

Overview of the Healthy Food for Healthy School Act Essay
It was lunch time and students walked into the cafeteria to purchase lunch. A wide variety of
food was placed in front of them to choose from ranging from pizza to burgers to bags of chips
and chocolate bars. Their choices were endless up until a new reform took over and enlisted new
changes. The Healthy Food for Healthy SchoolAct was placed on September 1st, 2008. Its policy
entailed schools to practice healthy eating where they would be dropping trans fat from food and
beverages sold in schools and establishing mandatory nutritionstandards for food and beverages
sold in schools (Ontario Ministry of Education). While this reform plays a significant role in the
health of students, it also has a great impact on other sectors.... Show more content on

As stated in Food: How School Food Affects Student Health, where there is a lack of creativity and
motivation to cultivate a healthy and sustainable menu, fast food chains, junk food vendors, and
soda companies rush in to fill the void, offering partnerships with schools that allow them to market
their products in schools (2008). With the new reform in place, schools have been instructed to
follow new guidelines and nutrition programmes to meet the standards of a healthy school. This
required the removal of vending machine sodas, and the reconfiguration of the foods in all school
cafeterias. With this new reform in place, schools have seen various outcomes from this change.
Having the Healthy Food for Healthy School Act means that any links with corporations would
result in minimal interactions and weaken the links they have. This can be seen as both a positive
and negative development. The positive outlook on it is that students will benefit greatly from the
healthy act as they will be encouraged to eat healthy foods and take part in an active and healthy
lifestyle. The downside is that implementing the healthy school act means putting more money
towards this section as healthier foods cost more than non healthy foods. As expenses are taken out
from other accounts, an ongoing increase of educational inequalities continues. Schools have found
themselves caught between the need to promote healthy choices and the need for

Theories Of The Beltway Sniper
Abstract
This paper will try to explore two theories of the beltway sniper. The first is the conflict theory
and the second is the psychological theory. There will be summarizing of the crime (dates,
offenders, how they were caught if they were). The two theories will try to explore the crime.
Each of the theory will shed light on the reasons for the crime. For this paper, I will provide
evidence to which theory seems to be stronger. I will also show any evidence that will lead to the
deviant path that was taken. I will be explaining how you determine the path that was taken for the
crime. I hope that after reading this the audience will have a better understanding of the conflict and
psychological theory of the beltway DC sniper.
What makes someone want to take the lives of ten people? The month of October, 2002, for the
Washington Metropolitan Area was very bloody and violent. There was a killing spree that claimed
ten innocent lives in Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland. The series of shootings, according
to the police reports, began with what was believed to be a white van or truck. The police later
discovered that the person behind the shooting was John Allen Muhammad. John had an

Analysis Of The Movie Phoenix Jackson
When using symbolism, objects or even people can be used to represent your answer or
explanation. For example, Uncle Sam (U.S) was a symbol for the United States when they were
going to war, and they put up the famous poster of Uncle Sam pointing his finger at you with the
slogan on the bottom of the poster that says I want you! Food can also be used as a symbol. For
example, fried chicken, hot dogs, and hamburgers are foods commonly consumed in America, while
in other countries, they probably haven t even heard about hamburgers, because we are all
accustomed to what we eat.
In the beginning of the short story, Phoenix Jackson is introduced as an elderly woman making her
way in the woods talking to herself and saying no one is going to stop her from making her
journey. First, she gets stuck in a thorn bush, but gets out of it. Then she has to cross a creek on
a log, but because of her age, something bad could happen, so she closed her eyes and crossed.
She sat near a tree to rest, and began to daydream of a little boy giving her a slice of marble cake,
which she gladly accepts, but when she tried to take it, she was just waving her hand in the air.
She sees a Scarecrow, who she mistakenly takes it as a man, and then a ghost, and starts to dance
with it. She keeps walking, when a black dog came at her a little and knocked her over, and fell
into a ditch. A white man sees her and helps her up, but when phoenix sees a

Descriptive Essay About The Maze
The Maize Maze
Diego Villada Youel
As I crawled in the back of my dad s truck, ready to go to the corn maze, my stomach felt like it
had a hundred butterflies were trying to get out. About halfway to the corn maze my stomach felt
like the butterflies that we re trying to storm out had ten babies each, that we re now trying to
burst out like fireworks. I could taste the dirt under my nails when I was chewing them due to the
tizzy feeling I had about what was going to happen in the maze.
Finally, after what felt like a week before I arrived to the farm we hopped in line to buy tickets
for the maze. I heard screams coming from the maze and the butterflies flew away, but, pigeons
took their place and I felt like puking. I heard people, coming out of the maze talking about their
favorite parts. One of them announced their favorite was when she was chased by the man with a
chainsaw. Just the thought of being chased made me want to curl up in a ball, find a nice hiding
place and never come out. On the other hand, I undoubtedly wanted to mosey through the maze, to
show my brother and sister that I could make it through the maze and not appear as scared as them.
After getting our tickets, we hopped in line for the maze. In the rear of the line, we talked and
took pictures. There were about twenty people in front of us, but, In no time we were at the front
of the line. As soon as our tickets were checked, we walked into the maze and it smelled like hay
and corn. I could feel

Hiking Narrative
To my surprise, Katelyn decided that hiking was a great idea, and I guess I should have figured
as much from the get go that a witch would like to be close to Mother Nature. Because
everything I had heard about Wiccans up to that point, was that they based a good chunk of
their religion on the earth and being one with nature. But for some reason I had given myself the
impression that Katelyn wasn t the sort of girl who d liked to get down and dirty in the woods. I
guess it was her whole Goth get up and all the needless makeup she wore. Before leaving the house
I had snatched up a backpack full of my Step Daddy Cade s Genesee beers that I d pilfered from
the refrigerator in the garage along with a couple of bottles of waters and a bag of... Show more

After Katelyn had finished rolling us a joint, we sat there passing it back and forth while

Things Fall Apart Vs Nature
The idea of man versus something in the world is not foreign to most. A lot of the time a person
can find another groaning or complaining about something going on or happening. When in true
reality, there was nothing that person could do about it. The largest opponent that man has gone,
and is going, against is nature itself. Nature can do, visually, almost anything to mankind; however,
man still tries their hardest to defy and go against nature. In Things Fall Apart, the people of
Umuofia and other places use gods and goddesses as a way to describe what nature does to them.
They say the gods and goddesses will punish for misdemeanors or reward for virtues. In all honesty
the people of Umuofia just cover up the fact that nature is in charge

Information Security Information Analysis
Data security is not just imperative to consumers whose information is stored; it is also significant
to the organizations who store this information. A failure to secure information can impede a
business in a number of ways. Losing information that gives an organization a competitive
advantage can lead the destruction of; and cause consumers to abandon the organization and seek
out another organization to do business with.
Data is information that is changed and stored into useful reports. The role of a security expert is to
prepare, plan and alleviate potential dangers that could steal or cause damage to that data. As an
employee of a video game development company, my role as an Information Security Engineer is
significant to the organization s prosperity.
With reports from the CIO that malicious activity is on the rise, analyzing the system is essential
to guarantee that the data that is critical to the organization s success is secured. Since assaults
must be executed on a framework with vulnerabilities, I should analyze the system to address
concerns, for example, backdoors, patches and updates, security to server rooms, appropriate
security for access of data, and so forth.

A hacker by common definition is a person who uses computers to gain unauthorized access to data.
Although some computer hackers are committing crimes, there are also computer hackers that
counterattack these criminals and their actions are what keep us safe from the criminals on the

Anyone with a computer can download file onto their computers and cause plenty of damage to
the internet for free. The way these systems make money is they charge a fee to sign up for
classes to learn how to use these programs properly. The cost to enroll in these classes are roughly
$2000.
All hackers have great logical minds whenever they see Open Source programs the first thing
they think is what can I make this do, instead of the normal thought most people would have
which is what does it do. When thinking about it, you do not think there is much difference but
they are to different things. What does it do is asking what the function and point more or less,
but What can I make it do means how can I individualize it to make it do what I want it to.
Usually this means they will take it apart analyze it and figure out how it works and then play with
it until they can manipulate it. Hackers like to challenge their mind, most take advantage of the
brilliant brain they have (Tendell). They cause damage, whether it be stealing money to just

Viruses Are The Worst Enemies Of Viruses
Viruses are the worst enemies of farmers. Until now, many viruses continue to attack, and even
become more virulent. They have been inflicting diseases from one squash to the other, making
them lose their supposedly excellent quality, even killing them. But as people learned crop
protection, biotechnology was established.
In today s time wherein crop pests become more and more pervasive due to climate change,
scientists have discovered the solution to control them, without the farmers having to spend extra
cents for chemical pesticides. The intention of the scientists who developed the first biotechnology
assisted crops was to help even the marginalized farmers in boosting their harvests and lessening the

From there, DNA sequence alignments of the isolates, from Pangasinan, Cavite, and Laguna in

which is approximately 95.15%. This leads to the assertion that they are from one population.
According also to PHTRC (2013), the major provinces or areas, from which they gathered samples,
in the Philippines which grow squash are Central and Southern Luzon, Cebu, Bicol, Samar,
Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, Davao City, and South Cotabato.
Panlasigui (1991) says enhancing crops and lessening the use of inorganic pesticides, while at the
same time increasing produce and maintaining the earth, are only a few valuable applications of
biotechnology. This is a reason why contrary to popular belief that biotechnology is life threatening,
it is not something to be feared of, instead, it is an innovation that the Philippines is in need of.
Looking at the current conditions of the country, biotechnology assisted squash should be
advocated by the government and squash farmers

Aristotle s Life And Political Beliefs Of Aristotle And...
Aristotle:
Aristotle preserves pleasure as a central resolve of human life as a goal. Therefore, he is more
attracted to the subject of happiness than any philosopher prior to the era. Living during the ancient
times same as Mencius, but on the opposing side of the world, he attracts similar conclusions.
Happiness depends on the cultivation of the asset of virtue, however his virtues are rather
distinctive social qualities of the Confucians. Aristotle was influenced to have a genuinely happy
life. the serenity of a broad range of conditions, including but not limited to physical as well as
mental well being. The idea of the science of happiness in the traditional sense, in terms of a new
field of facts.
Essentially, Aristotle argues that virtue is realized by maintaining the Mean, which is the balance
between two extravagances. Aristotle s principle of the Mean is suggestive of Buddha s Middle
Path, but there are fascinating differences. For Aristotle the unkind method of attaining virtue; for
Buddhism, the Middle Path referred to a peaceful way of life which negotiated the extremes of self
discipline and physical pleasure seeking. The Middle Path was a minimal requirement for the
reflective life, and not the source of virtue.

How Did Egypt Created Toothpaste
Did you know that Egyptians invented toothpaste?! You probably didn t because whenever you
think of Egypt you will most likely just think of pharaohs, hieroglyphics, and pyramids, but there is
way more to know about Egypt that everyone should know. Let s start with some history behind
Egypt and how it all started. One of the main reasons why Egyptexist is due to the NileRiver. The
Nile was known as the giver and sustainer of life. The river became so sacred that many humans
decided to settle near it at around 6000 B.C. The Nile River provided a seasonal floodings to help

This 1700 year rule of the Pharaohs marked the flourish of growth in arts, commerce, science,
and medicine. One of the most notable architectures to come out of this growth was the
pyramids. These pyramids were made to be great burial tombs to help the Pharaohs achieve
eternal life after death. The first pyramid was built by the first Pharaoh by the name of Imhotep.
This was built in Saqqara at around 2800 B.C. Soon after, the three pyramids at Giza were built.
The largest of the three, known as the Great Pyramid, was built around 2540 B.C. and took about
20 years to build. Today it is the only one of the seven ancient wonders of the world to still be
standing. Due to these pyramids, the wealth of pharaohs soon started to decline and their absolute
power became unsteady. The Old Kingdom soon collapsed and changed into a rapid succession of
Memphis based rulers until around 2160 B.C. This would soon lead into a civil war between
provincial governors. This situation was turned more chaotic by Bedouin invasions. While this was
all happening, everyone was accompanied by famine and disease. Around 2040 B.C. the Theban
king Mentuhotep II defeated the forced of the two united kingdoms and united Egypt under the rule

There is No Mercy in Butchery, for Hunger is Everlasting Following a traumatic plane crash on a
small island in the Pacific, a group of young British schoolboys are left to fend for themselves.
Food and water are never an issue, but desires for meat, order, and rescue leave the boys divided
between savagery and civilization. The ensuing novel is William Goldings Lord of the Flies. Out of
the older boys, leaders emerge and focus on the issues of the island, eventually creating a

Ultimately, they are killed to satisfy a social hierarchy. With Lord of the Flies, William Golding
creates an allegory to the social cycle of mankind in a post world war world with fragile civil
structure. Resembling a political system, the littluns are left unnamed to assume the role of
common citizens. Piggy embodies the achievements and technology of man, Simon, instinctual
goodness, Jack, savagery, and Ralph, law and order. On this island, where the civilization fails,
first, the goodness is dispersed; second, the achievements of man are taken advantage of, fragile
and quick to fail; third, a war is unleashed, and civilization collapses; finally, anarchy and
savagery are held at bay. Piggy and Simon s deaths highlight the consequences of this cycle.
Golding s understanding of the fragileness of the modern world is evident, as the novel takes place
while a nuclear war is fought, presumably contested between two estranged human cultures, similar
to the instincts that battled on the island. It is only through Simon s comment to Ralph that
Golding provides a foreseeable end, and suggests his faith in the leaders of the real world. With
their rescue, the group of marooned British schoolboys return to a changed world, without Piggy
and Simon, only to reseed the elaborate social scheme of

Langston Hughes Remembers a Night at Church with his Aunt
The author Langston Hughes reminisces about when his Aunt took him to church when he was
thirteen years old; Every night for weeks there had been much preaching, singing praying,
shouting, and some very hard sinners had been brought to Jesus (1059). At the end of revival
the children were asked to approach the mourners bench To be saved! Langston s Aunt told him
about how when you were saved something happened to you inside. (1059) So Mr. Hughes went
to the bench with the fellow children in the church, the preacher preached, hymns were sung
they keep saying wont you come, Young lambs to Jesus? One by one the children rose to Jesus.
Leaving Langston Hughes and another boy Westley; the boy Westley got tired of sitting on the
bench he stood up to be saved. Langston Hughes sat there waiting for Jesus he too grew tired of
sitting on the bench and he figured that Jesus didn t smite Westley for lying; so he stood up.
Later in the night he cried; his aunt told his uncle that he was crying because of the Holy Ghost
in his life; when instead he was crying because he questioned if God existed or not for he did not
come for him when he was on the bench with the other children. He didn t believe there was a
Jesus anymore. This is an appeal what happened to Langston Hughes it plays on the emotions to
be saved by god to stand up and be saved. The evidence is that night I was escorted to the front row

Case in point, Marlise Mun Мѓoz from Texas was found unconscious at home by her husband, at
the time Mrs. Mun Мѓoz was 14 weeks pregnant. A few days later it was determined that Mrs. Mun

A Summary Of Bernard WilliamsUtilitarianism And Integrity
All human beings behave in the same particular way. The two things that we constantly
experience in our lives are pleasure and pain. We are always trying to find pleasure while trying
to avoid pain. We seek pleasure and avoid pain because pleasure produces happiness and pain tends
to produce sorrow and anger. An action would be considered right if that action created happiness
and an action would be wrong if that action promoted the opposite of happiness (sorrow, anger,
etc.). When we try to evaluate the rightness or wrongness of an action we have to contemplate the
consequences of other people involved and not just of our own. Moral actions should result in
maximizing happiness because it s the right thingto do not only for yourself but for others as well.
The utilitarianism approach states the we should always try to produce the greatest amount of
happiness for the largest amount of people over the longest amount of time. Happiness is something
that we always struggle to maintain constant in our lives because we regularly find ourselves in
problematic situations. When we are in these controversial circumstances we may not incessantly
do the right thingbecause we simply don t know what the right thing to do is. How we deal with
certain issues defines whether we acquire happiness or not. In Bernard Williams Utilitarianism
Integrity he provided us with two different scenarios in which two people find themselves in tricky
situations in regard to what the correct action

The Problem Of Substance Abuse
The problematic situation that brings a client to seek counseling is not often seen clearly by the
client or others that may be associated. This is the reason that a therapist must use various
assessment tools to determine potential disorders that may be the root to a problem. Though at
times a client may seek counseling with a known substance abuseissue there are more cases where
a client is oblivious to the potential contribution that substance abuse has on the problem that
help is sought for. Understood that substance dependency is nondiscriminatory to age, gender,
race or creed, a therapist approaches the matter with the client knowing that a problem is
recognized and there is a hope for a solution being sought by the client. At the same time it is
also known that an addictive personality will be protective of this disorder, producing a
defensive posture and plausible deniability. A therapist must assess the potential of such a
disorder existing and the readiness of the client to change within the initial interview.
Chamberlain (2013) notes that it is initially important to ask a client directly about his or her use
of drugs (p. 125). The interview process will assess the proper screening that must take place in
order to derive a proper diagnosis for treatment. Five such tools used by therapists to screen and
assess a client differ in various ways depending on the client s age and willingness.
Considering an adult client that is seeking help for problems at work or in

Wiccans Goddess
Although some Wiccans focus on particular gods from particular world mythologies, Wiccans
may worship many gods and goddesses by many different names. Most worship some form of the
Great Goddess and Her consort, The Horned God. Such duo theistic forces are often conceived as
embodying complementary polarities, not in opposition. In some traditions worship of the Goddess
is emphasized, although in others the Goddess and Godare seen as complementary co equals. The
Goddess and God may be seen as associated with certain things (such as the Goddess with the earth
or moon, God with sun and wildlife, etc.), but there are no hard and fast rules. Some traditions

Some Wiccans conceive deities as similar to thought forms.
According to current Gardnerian Wiccans, the exact names of the Goddess and God of traditional
Wicca remain an initiatory secret, and they are not given in Gardner s books about witchcraft.
However, the collection of Toronto Papers of Gardner s writings has been investigated by
American scholars such as Aidan Kelly, leading to the suggestion that their names are Cernunnos
and Aradia. These are the names used in the prototype Book of Shadows known as Ye Bok of Ye
Arte Magickal.
For most Wiccans, the Lord and Lady are seen as complementary polarities: male and female,
force and form, comprehending all in their union; the tension and interplay between them is the
basis of all creation, and this balance is seen in much of nature. The God and Goddess are
sometimes symbolized as the Sun and Moon, and from her lunar associations the Goddess
becomes a Triple Goddess with aspects of Maiden , Mother and Crone corresponding to the Moon s

Children Of The School Age
Every child of school age, 5 18 years, in the United States, is required to be in an educational
program. Making decisions for one s self or for the wellbeing of another may require good
common sense, research and knowledge in order to settle on what is best. One important decision
that most people will have to make for themselves or another is about learning. Knowledge,
behaviors, skills, values and preferences are all associated with learning and may be acquired
through education. In our world today there are many ways to get an education: public school,
private school, charter school, homeschool, etc. Per the National Center for Education Statistics,
for the fall of 2016, about 50.4 million students attend public elementary and secondary schools.
An average of $11,732 per pupil in public schools is spent from taxpayers. School aged children
are expected by truancy laws, to be in attendance unless their family has chosen another option.
Another popular option for families is to homeschool their student). Homeschool is a parent led
home based education. Per research by Brian D. Ray, Ph.D., there are about 2.3 million home

families for their education. There are many advantages and disadvantages to a student being

Betrayal And Deception In Macbeth
Betray a friend, and you ll often find you ruined yourself, once said Aesop. There are
consequences of betraying and deceiving a friend, and it will change one s life for the worse. One
author who emphasizes the ideal of betrayal and deception is Shakespeare, and it can be seen
throughout the play Macbeth. In the play, Macbeth was an honored and respected high ranking
noble in King Duncan s eyes, and betrayed his king to gain power. Macbeth and his fellow, Banquo
were told by mysterious witches that Macbeth would be crowned king. The prediction from the
witches gave Macbeth and Lady Macbeth a dangerous dose of ambition, which led to them killing
the ones closest to them to become king, including King Duncan and Banquo. Throughout Macbeth,
Shakespeare illustrates the concept... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Along with covering flaws, human nature emphasizes on the positives of a bad choice and blocks

Taking a Look at Myocardial Infraction
Around every thirty four seconds in the United States, another individual falls as a victim to a
myocardial infraction. A myocardial infraction or more commonly known as a heart attack, occurs
when the blood flow that brings the oxygen to the heart is reduced or cut off completely. When the
blood cannot reach parts of your heart, that area is becoming damaged or unfortunately if
treatment is prolonged for too long then the heart cells will most likely die. Heart attacks can
occur in anybody no matter the age, gender, or nationality, but statistically men over the age of
45 and to women over the age of 55 are at the greatest risk of a heart attack (Ricciotti). In the
1800s George Ebers discovered an ancient Egyptian scroll that has been dated back to around
1500 B.C. On the scroll that Ebers found, it listed many things about the heart and how it worked.
It also showed Ebers that the Egyptians were able to identify certain symptoms of heart attacks, as
well. The scroll that he found showed us how much the ancient Egyptians actually knew about heart
related diseases, despite the technology differences that we have today compared to what they had.
A man named Edwin Smith discovered another scroll dating back to the 17th century. The scroll
that Smith found held evidence of multiple surgeries that were performed, including heart surgeries.
This proves that the real discoverers of heart related illnesses in fact dates back all the way to the
times of the ancient Egyptians.

The Value Of Loyalty In The Odyssey By Homer
Loyalty is one of the important factors that influences people because loyalty provides stability
for any long lasting relationship. In The Odyssey, an epic poem by Homer, Penelope shows us the
value of loyalty because she is hopeful that her husband will come back, and she does not want to
marry anyone who is not him. Penelopeis a good example of loyalty in The Odysseybecause she
proves her loyalty several times. When Odysseusis gone suitors began to throw themselves at her,
and they would do anything to get to marry her. Since she was a queen, Penelope would have
been expected to marry after her spouce died but she stayed true to her husband, Odysseus, by
coming up with excuses not to marry the suitors until she knew for sure that he was dead. To
avoid choosing a suitor to marry she said that she would chose a husband as soon as she finished
weaving a shroud for her father in law, Laertes, even though he was not sick or ready to die yet.
Everyday she would show them the progress that she had made weaving the shroud, but every
night before she went to bed she would unweave all of her work and start over the next day so that
the shroud would never be finished.
Her very words,/ and despite our pride and passion we believed her./ So by day she d weave at her

Talented Mr Ripley is the first in a five book series written by Patricia Highsmith. The story centres

Ordering costs are based on two different factors including the ordering of excess inventory or not
enough. In some instances, procurement departments are challenged with purchasing decisions
whereas vendors will offer better buying prices if they tend to order in larger quantities. Initially,
the cost savings may seem beneficial up front, however, far too often the actually savings is not
ever realized because the inventory becomes obsolete and written off as excess. On the contrary,
ordering insufficient amount of inventory can result in stock outs and loss of sales ultimately

A Crucifixion Outside The City Of Jerusalem
This painting depicts a crucifixion outside the city of Jerusalem, discernible by the centrally
planned church and rounded red rotunda in the background of the city. Rounded structures that
resemble towers align the walls of the city, another definitive element of the biblical city. Although
the painting clearly represents an idealized Jerusalem, it emulates a contemporary European town
of the Northern Renaissance age, with Gothic architecture and what resembles shops at the front of
the city. The painter also depicts the mountainous terrain of Jerusalem, but portrays greenery that
the actual desert city would not have. The contemporary background makes the painting less
abstract and more relatable to the viewer. The overall composition of the painting is naturalistic:
emphasized by the light and shadow on the figures, the use of three dimensions, and the additional
details in the clothes of the figures. The body on the cross demonstrates the most amount of
modeling. The face and legs of the person are covered by shadow, while the light hits the left side
of the body at the chest the most. Also, there is an attention to showcasing three dimensions: the
objects towards the back of the painting get smaller, while the objects in the front are larger. The
three dimensions frame the picture, and create a sense of directly looking into the scene from a
front viewer. Lastly, the folding and drapery of the clothing accentuate the naturalism of the
painting by looking similar to

The Life of an Immigrant Black Woman Essay
Hardship and loss of freedom comes to mind as I think about an immigrant black woman. If they
had other forms of persuasion other then the glamour or positive side of England that they heard
about through tales, would they less enthused and reluctant of being the follower. Would the
immigrant black woman still be as naГЇve?
Once becoming a part of a different society, she has to adapt to the ways that she is unfamiliar
with. She has to erase in a form of what she knows and feels is correct to from her true self. I am
staring painfully at an image. My image? No! what is left of what once used to be my image .
(Darko p1) The immigrant black woman doesn t seem to feel whole as she lacks love from her

Her dowry is more if she is an educated girl, but that education will not seem apparent anymore
once she is abroad. I was given away to this man who paid two white cows, four healthy goats,
four lengths of cloth, beads, gold jeweler and two bottles of London Dry Gin to my family, and took
me off as his wife from my little African village, Naka, to him in the city . (Darko p3) When
those so called traditional courts ask him what gives him the right, his self righteous excuse is, I
bought her. Why, he can even quote the amount! That s just too much. What is a woman worth,
after all? And who has the right to make such audacious calculations? (Maraire p34) She would
only be known to work and provide for her family with no questions asked or help provided. Even
the field of work is already picked without knowing or without consent. There is no equality in
which she may know from her home. Traditions are left behind as a part of her adapting to the new
life and ways even if she tries to follow them, they are considered wrong in that country because
they do not understand. You must not take the Western anthropologists view of our culture. They
perceive our customs through their lens. There are terms and customs that cannot be translated
adequately into their language and so become distorted . (Maraire p32) When she arrives at this
grand place of opportunity, she is thrown into a glum future.

Viking Gods Research Paper
The Norse gods, also referred to the Viking gods, live in a place called Asgard. In their myths
there are 9 worlds from theirs which is Asgard (home of the Aesir), Vanaheim (home of the
Vanir), Jotuheim (home of the giants), Midgard (home of the humans) to many more (actually
five more to be exact). The leader of Asgard is Odin (also refer to as the all father) is the father to
many but his most famous son is Thor. Where the movies made the gods heroes, it s not so true in
this story where they leave Chris Hemsworth in the scenes, and show you the true myths about
Thor. Magnus Chase is a normal homeless person. After two years on the streets he s normally
seen in downtown Boston, picking food from the trash, breaking into rich people s cars,... Show

Don t get me wrong, I am a big fan, and enjoy all mythology, but this book didn t cut it. First off
you based its way to much off Percy Jackson and the Greek gods series. From Chapter 48 titled:
Hearthstone Passes Out Even More than Jason Grace (Though I Have No Idea Who That Is), it
felt that the Kane Chronicles wasn t as successful to you, so you decided maybe if you
incorporated the Percy Jackson s characters it will boost up sales for Magnus. The other
incorporation is it just so happen that Magnus has a blonde hair, stormy grey eye, female cousin,
who saying she can help him, whose last name is Chase and first name Annabeth. Hmm I
wonder who that could be. As a fangirl I would love a Percy and Magnus mash up, but not one
that obvious. The other issue I had was the consistent of Blitz and Hearth. Blitz full name is
Blitzen, Hearth is Hearthstone, yet Rick Riordan keeps using both equally as much. Blitz was
right. I was starting to see double Blitzens and double Hearthstones, and I didn t think it had
anything to do with illusions. Just be consistent with your writing, as they teach children in
middle school. The last issue I found was sarcasm was just too high throughout all points in the
book. Sure it was nice to see Magnus be sassy to the gods, but what got me, was the gods being
sassy back. The Norse gods became regular people whenever they talked to Magnus do to their
language, losing all power and vision I had for

Essay 1 Elephant
Essay: Elephant by Polly Clark, 2006 A To choose your own future, destiny and life is very hard.
Everyone wants to do something that makes them happy. But sometimes you take the wrong
decisions or everything decides to go against you, which makes you stay in the box you were
trying to escape from. When your dreams don t get fulfilled, you will be in that box and wait for
the light. It s not always about what you want, but what you need. And to live a good life, and to
do something productive, you have to work in a way that will make you happy, because that is
what you need the most. Elephant is a short story written by Polly Clark in 2006. My focus point
is William and his life, which I will analyze and interpret. I will also discuss the... Show more

Polly Clark l. 80 83 He keeps thinking about an elephant he got from his mother when he was
little, after his wife tells him that she will be home in twenty minutes, he gets a flashback to a
time where he was waiting for his mom in the same amount of time. And that s when he got the
blue elephant5. The elephant can symbolize freedom, peace and happiness, which he is looking
for. It was a gift from his mother, and she had been gone for a long while, so when she came
back it brought joy and hope in him. Therefore the elephant is meaningful and also the light in
his dark working room. William gets a switch between getting hope and losing it, as when he
was talking with his wife Ginny, about moving to Australia, he just says Let s see what happens
as if it doesn t interest him.6 He is not pleased with the way his life is, because it wasn t the way
he planned it to be, but he has hope and is dedicated with his work, even though it sadness him
that he feels as if his work is unwanted. Ken Follett s introduction to the 1999 edition of The
Pillars of the Earth can be used as an introduction to William s life, because Nothing happens the
way you plan it. 7 At the end of the story of the text Elephant, Williams does realize that he
actually can change his life, by involving his own past and experiences. Tears fills his eyes and he
finally finds peace, because

Dating all the way back to the indians, there were hunters that killed animals so they could
survive. Hunting was a source of food for the indians and still is a food source for people now.
According to an article by Ward M. Clark, a hunter, lecturer, and author, Early hunters knew this
very well, as they revered their primary prey. For example, Plains Indians referred to bison as uncle
and brother. Paleolithic cave drawings of game animals and hunt scenes are rendered with a
loving reverence that is still evident today, thousands of years later, (Clark). This shows that
people have been hunting for food for years making it part of our history as humans. Hunting is
a part of humans past just as much as gathering food and farming which was also done by the
Indians. Clark also said We hunt to pay homage to nature, to life, and to the earth. To make our
annual pilgrimage to our beginnings, to lay our hands on our heritage as members of the biotic
community. To affirm once more that life feeds on life, and life gives life to life,(Clark). This
shows that hunting connects us back to the Indians and all other parts of the world and the culture
of humans everywhere. Every country has history with hunting even if it s just killing an animal for
food to eat. Hunting is part of our culture and past of our culture and past as humans and natural

Famous Cooking Other Cultures Food
Source A:
Godoy, Maria, and Kat Chow. When Chefs Become Famous Cooking Other Cultures Food. NPR.
NPR, 22 Mar. 2016. Web. 14 Apr. 2017.
This source is an article about chefs cooking food from other cultures. At the center of the piece is
Rick Bayless, a white expert on Mexican cuisine. The authors analyze the concept of being
disappointed about eating at a foreign food restaurant headed by a chef of unrelated race to the
food. Chef Rick Bayless brings up the possible effects of racism, the notion that a white man can
not cook Mexican food. As Bayless states, critics make abrupt judgements by ignoring the training
and travel the some chefs go through. Somebody referencing this prompt can utilize Bayless
sentiments in their synthesis essay. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Food can teach how cultures developed their cuisine. Sometimes poverty forces people to utilize
strange ingredients. Sometimes certain crops are more abundant than others, thus the brunt of their
food composes of that crop. Necessity forces people to improvise their cuisine; in the earliest
times, people cooked food to survive, not to entertain their taste buds. People can also learn how
each culture savors its food. For example, the French eat their food quickly. People can also learn
about the community through food, how families, schools, and religious institutions eat. Food is
essential as it is where culture and ecology intersect , and the act of eating teaches people humanity.
Someone can refer to this source s many points on what food teaches to build an argument on how
food is cultural

Cone-Beams Tomography Report
While cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans can show more anatomy, provide 3D
reconstructions, and generate enhanced treatment plans when compared to conventional dental
radiographs, CBCT operation and interpretation should be more strictly regulated because there isn
t a defined criterion for who can or cannot purchase CBCT scanners, additional educational training
is not required to operate these scanners, and facilities tend to overuse CBCT scanners with little
consideration to patient dose or diagnostic benefit. Dental imaging is shifting and the increased
radiation, overenthusiastic marketing, deficient training and limited regulation and testing
currently in place with these scanners have created a situation where the convenience... Show more

These problems arise from increased pressure on the blood vessels, which put increased pressure
on the arteries and an overall increased pressure on the heart. This may lead to a difficulty in
controlling blood circulation and blood pressure throughout the bodily cells and organs.
Glaucoma
Glaucoma develops when a fluid called aqueous humour within the eyes cannot drain properly and
pressure builds up, known as the intraocular pressure. Under normal circumstances, the fluid would
be drained out of the eyes through tubes. This can damage the optic nerve and also the nerve fibres
from the Retina. The Retina is the layer of light sensitive tissue that lines the back of the eye.
Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a condition in which the bones are weakened. It is a change in bone density
resulting from an interference with the regulation of calcium and phosphate metabolism and
collagen turnover. Glucocorticoid therapy results in an increase in the activity of osteoclasts (which
digest the bone matrix) and a reduction in osteoblast activity (which deposits bone matrix).

  • 3. Theme Of Love In La Belle Dame Sans Merci Bitter. Sweet. Tender. Love. This subjective idea may refer to a concept, a feeling, an attitude, an emotion, one could have towards another. Throughout history, one s perception on love may vary due to the ideology they were being indoctrinated with as well as their family background. Given that different historical periods may affect one s perception on their idea of love, an analysis on the poems La Belle Dame sans Merci by John Keats, My Last Duchess by Robert Browning, and Mother in a Refugee Camp by Chinua Achebe, will be made in order to examine and explore how poets living in different times present love in their own unique approach. La Belle Dame sans Merci is a ballad written by English poet John Keats in the year 1819, where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the knight and the woman was having a sexual intercourse, She looked at him as she did love, / And made sweet moan The declarative, she looked at him as she did love expresses the idea of unrequited love. The woman may have only decided upon having a sexual intercourse with him to favour his sexual desires, yet it does not represent that she has an affection for him. On the other hand an iambic tetrameter is also used in the same quotation as a motif of the knight s heartbeat, this represents the excitement and passionate emotions he has within the relationship and sexual intercourse. A sense of negativity can be seen in the line And made sweet moan , the iambic dimeter in this line has a foreboding effect to it, hinting that love between the woman and the knight will not last long. Likewise to La Belle Dame sans Merci , Keats short poem The day is gone, and all its sweets are gone! also signifies his role in the Romanticism movement by the reinforcement of his individual expression and obsessive nature towards his lover Fanny Brawne. This is evident when Keats display the sincere and direct emotions of himself in the title The day is gone, and all its sweets are gone! The dependent clause, and all its sweets are gone is a metaphor that the sweetness of their relationship has disappeared due to the distance between Keats and Brawne. This metaphor can be likened to La Belle Dame sans Merci through the knight s loneliness and sentimental emotions when he waits for the woman he loves. The intensifier all reinforces Keats desires to see Brawne, not seeing her for a day does not only signify the loss of sweetness, but also marking the end of his day. He is eager to see Brawne, and by not seeing her the sweetness of his day, the significance of his day has vanished, disappeared. This poem can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Homer s mother was a water color artist and taught him a lot of the techniques he used in his works. The Snap the Whip painting is probably Homer s most famous paintingand exemplifies the ideals he tried to get across. All in all, Homer was one of the most influential painters in American history. Winslow Homer was born in Boston, Massachusetts on February 24, 1836. From an early age Homer showed interest in art. His mother was a watercolor painter and taught him many of her techniques. Growing up in Cambridge, Massachusetts Homer learned the aspects of being a printmaker. After living in New York for a few years, he began to practice oil painting. While... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A common theme for Homer was to make paintings that were reminiscent of the simpler times before the Civil War and industrialization period. This is evident in one of Homer s most famous paintings, Snap the Whip . This painting shows schoolboys, just released from the small local schoolhouse, enjoying nature and playing outside. His paintings also had a common theme of representing how the nation had become unified once again with the conclusion of the Civil War. In his painting Snap the Whip , you can clearly tell this from the locking of arms between boys representing teamwork. Oceans and bodies of water were also a common theme in his art works. You can see this quite clearly in his 1876 painting Breezing Up . Homer s most common art media was Oil Paint. Almost every single one of Homer s famous paintings is painted in oil paint. Overall, Homer had many influences in his work, but the importance he placed on simplicity before the complex post Civil War industrial period is ever present in all of his works. • 6. A Woman s Descent Into Madness Shayna Pospisil Professor Callis English 112 29 April 2015 A women s descent into madness Hamlet is praised as one of the greatest literary works ever written but unlike the title, many characters play key roles in the development of the story and his progression towards revenge induced madness. One such character is Hamlet s lover Ophelia. She is a pivotal character in the effectiveness as well as execution of the plot for revenge. One fact that is commonly short sited is the relationship Ophelia has with Hamlet and how that ultimately affects his road towards revenge. Without Ophelia there is no Hamlet. Ophelia s innocence, lack of knowledge and ignorance, and weakness of the mind all play a key role in not only her own but also Hamlet s demise. One of the most talked about subjects in the play itself is Ophelia s innocence of purity. Because Hamlet was going to Denmark a relationship with Ophelia would never work therefore her father felt the intense need to protect her innocence. Any kind of relationship would be detrimental to not only Ophelia but her family as well. If Ophelia were to lose her purity before marriage she would no longer be desirable to any other man because she would be used goods . That would reflect not only on herself but on her family. Another interesting point is just how protective her brother Laertes is of her virtue. In Act I, Laertes gives advice to Ophelia on the pitfalls of a pre marital relationship in a lengthy speech that s geared ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Overview of the Healthy Food for Healthy School Act Essay It was lunch time and students walked into the cafeteria to purchase lunch. A wide variety of food was placed in front of them to choose from ranging from pizza to burgers to bags of chips and chocolate bars. Their choices were endless up until a new reform took over and enlisted new changes. The Healthy Food for Healthy SchoolAct was placed on September 1st, 2008. Its policy entailed schools to practice healthy eating where they would be dropping trans fat from food and beverages sold in schools and establishing mandatory nutritionstandards for food and beverages sold in schools (Ontario Ministry of Education). While this reform plays a significant role in the health of students, it also has a great impact on other sectors.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As stated in Food: How School Food Affects Student Health, where there is a lack of creativity and motivation to cultivate a healthy and sustainable menu, fast food chains, junk food vendors, and soda companies rush in to fill the void, offering partnerships with schools that allow them to market their products in schools (2008). With the new reform in place, schools have been instructed to follow new guidelines and nutrition programmes to meet the standards of a healthy school. This required the removal of vending machine sodas, and the reconfiguration of the foods in all school cafeterias. With this new reform in place, schools have seen various outcomes from this change. Having the Healthy Food for Healthy School Act means that any links with corporations would result in minimal interactions and weaken the links they have. This can be seen as both a positive and negative development. The positive outlook on it is that students will benefit greatly from the healthy act as they will be encouraged to eat healthy foods and take part in an active and healthy lifestyle. The downside is that implementing the healthy school act means putting more money towards this section as healthier foods cost more than non healthy foods. As expenses are taken out from other accounts, an ongoing increase of educational inequalities continues. For example, Uncle Sam (U.S) was a symbol for the United States when they were going to war, and they put up the famous poster of Uncle Sam pointing his finger at you with the slogan on the bottom of the poster that says I want you! Food can also be used as a symbol. For example, fried chicken, hot dogs, and hamburgers are foods commonly consumed in America, while in other countries, they probably haven t even heard about hamburgers, because we are all accustomed to what we eat. In the beginning of the short story, Phoenix Jackson is introduced as an elderly woman making her way in the woods talking to herself and saying no one is going to stop her from making her journey. First, she gets stuck in a thorn bush, but gets out of it. Then she has to cross a creek on a log, but because of her age, something bad could happen, so she closed her eyes and crossed. She sat near a tree to rest, and began to daydream of a little boy giving her a slice of marble cake, which she gladly accepts, but when she tried to take it, she was just waving her hand in the air. She sees a Scarecrow, who she mistakenly takes it as a man, and then a ghost, and starts to dance with it. She keeps walking, when a black dog came at her a little and knocked her over, and fell into a ditch. A white man sees her and helps her up, but when phoenix sees a ... • 10. Descriptive Essay About The Maze The Maize Maze Diego Villada Youel As I crawled in the back of my dad s truck, ready to go to the corn maze, my stomach felt like it had a hundred butterflies were trying to get out. About halfway to the corn maze my stomach felt like the butterflies that we re trying to storm out had ten babies each, that we re now trying to burst out like fireworks. I could taste the dirt under my nails when I was chewing them due to the tizzy feeling I had about what was going to happen in the maze. Finally, after what felt like a week before I arrived to the farm we hopped in line to buy tickets for the maze. I heard screams coming from the maze and the butterflies flew away, but, pigeons took their place and I felt like puking. I heard people, coming out of the maze talking about their favorite parts. One of them announced their favorite was when she was chased by the man with a chainsaw. Just the thought of being chased made me want to curl up in a ball, find a nice hiding place and never come out. On the other hand, I undoubtedly wanted to mosey through the maze, to show my brother and sister that I could make it through the maze and not appear as scared as them. After getting our tickets, we hopped in line for the maze. In the rear of the line, we talked and took pictures. There were about twenty people in front of us, but, In no time we were at the front of the line. As soon as our tickets were checked, we walked into the maze and it smelled like hay and corn. With Lord of the Flies, William Golding creates an allegory to the social cycle of mankind in a post world war world with fragile civil structure. Resembling a political system, the littluns are left unnamed to assume the role of common citizens. Piggy embodies the achievements and technology of man, Simon, instinctual goodness, Jack, savagery, and Ralph, law and order. On this island, where the civilization fails, first, the goodness is dispersed; second, the achievements of man are taken advantage of, fragile and quick to fail; third, a war is unleashed, and civilization collapses; finally, anarchy and savagery are held at bay. Piggy and Simon s deaths highlight the consequences of this cycle. Golding s understanding of the fragileness of the modern world is evident, as the novel takes place while a nuclear war is fought, presumably contested between two estranged human cultures, similar to the instincts that battled on the island. It is only through Simon s comment to Ralph that Golding provides a foreseeable end, and suggests his faith in the leaders of the real world. • 24. A Summary Of Bernard WilliamsUtilitarianism And Integrity All human beings behave in the same particular way. The two things that we constantly experience in our lives are pleasure and pain. We are always trying to find pleasure while trying to avoid pain. We seek pleasure and avoid pain because pleasure produces happiness and pain tends to produce sorrow and anger. An action would be considered right if that action created happiness and an action would be wrong if that action promoted the opposite of happiness (sorrow, anger, etc.). When we try to evaluate the rightness or wrongness of an action we have to contemplate the consequences of other people involved and not just of our own. Moral actions should result in maximizing happiness because it s the right thingto do not only for yourself but for others as well. The utilitarianism approach states the we should always try to produce the greatest amount of happiness for the largest amount of people over the longest amount of time. Happiness is something that we always struggle to maintain constant in our lives because we regularly find ourselves in problematic situations. When we are in these controversial circumstances we may not incessantly do the right thingbecause we simply don t know what the right thing to do is. How we deal with certain issues defines whether we acquire happiness or not. In Bernard Williams Utilitarianism Integrity he provided us with two different scenarios in which two people find themselves in tricky situations in regard to what the correct action ... At the same time it is also known that an addictive personality will be protective of this disorder, producing a defensive posture and plausible deniability. A therapist must assess the potential of such a disorder existing and the readiness of the client to change within the initial interview. Chamberlain (2013) notes that it is initially important to ask a client directly about his or her use of drugs (p. 125). The interview process will assess the proper screening that must take place in order to derive a proper diagnosis for treatment. • 38. The Goal Goldratt The video The Goal by Goldratt identifies the concepts related to the theory of constraints as it relates to throughput within the manufacturing environment. The video depicts the ideology that a process can only move as fast as it slowest element. Often referred to as the choke point or bottleneck, it can occur at the beginning, middle or end of the process. The bottleneck may be outdated equipment, inventory inefficiencies, incompetence, and even workplace culture. The take away from this video is obvious in a sense that it points out a process is only as strong as its weakest link. In the video Alex asks workers to rearrange their breaks around the machine that supposedly generating the bottleneck, but due to old accounting methods the changes lack sufficient data to provide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Discuss Inventory Management (Chapter 20) from the perspective of cost, customer satisfaction and profitability. What is the Wal Mart approach to Inventory Management? Inventory costs are basically categorized into several different elements, but the elements that are typically derive the most impact to the bottom line are ordering costs and carrying costs. However, costs associated to shortages or stock outs, the cost of replenishment, cost of logistics, and cost associated with loss, pilferage, shrinkage and obsolescence are significant to profitability too. Ordering costs are based on two different factors including the ordering of excess inventory or not enough. In some instances, procurement departments are challenged with purchasing decisions whereas vendors will offer better buying prices if they tend to order in larger quantities. Initially, the cost savings may seem beneficial up front, however, far too often the actually savings is not ever realized because the inventory becomes obsolete and written off as excess. On the contrary, ordering insufficient amount of inventory can result in stock outs and loss of sales ultimately affecting customer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. A Crucifixion Outside The City Of Jerusalem This painting depicts a crucifixion outside the city of Jerusalem, discernible by the centrally planned church and rounded red rotunda in the background of the city. Rounded structures that resemble towers align the walls of the city, another definitive element of the biblical city. Although the painting clearly represents an idealized Jerusalem, it emulates a contemporary European town of the Northern Renaissance age, with Gothic architecture and what resembles shops at the front of the city. The painter also depicts the mountainous terrain of Jerusalem, but portrays greenery that the actual desert city would not have. The contemporary background makes the painting less abstract and more relatable to the viewer. The overall composition of the painting is naturalistic: emphasized by the light and shadow on the figures, the use of three dimensions, and the additional details in the clothes of the figures. The body on the cross demonstrates the most amount of modeling. The face and legs of the person are covered by shadow, while the light hits the left side of the body at the chest the most. Also, there is an attention to showcasing three dimensions: the objects towards the back of the painting get smaller, while the objects in the front are larger. The three dimensions frame the picture, and create a sense of directly looking into the scene from a front viewer. Lastly, the folding and drapery of the clothing accentuate the naturalism of the painting by looking similar to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The other incorporation is it just so happen that Magnus has a blonde hair, stormy grey eye, female cousin, who saying she can help him, whose last name is Chase and first name Annabeth. Hmm I wonder who that could be. As a fangirl I would love a Percy and Magnus mash up, but not one that obvious. The other issue I had was the consistent of Blitz and Hearth. Blitz full name is Blitzen, Hearth is Hearthstone, yet Rick Riordan keeps using both equally as much. Blitz was right. I was starting to see double Blitzens and double Hearthstones, and I didn t think it had anything to do with illusions. Just be consistent with your writing, as they teach children in middle school. When your dreams don t get fulfilled, you will be in that box and wait for the light. It s not always about what you want, but what you need. And to live a good life, and to do something productive, you have to work in a way that will make you happy, because that is what you need the most. And that s when he got the blue elephant5. The elephant can symbolize freedom, peace and happiness, which he is looking for. It was a gift from his mother, and she had been gone for a long while, so when she came back it brought joy and hope in him. Therefore the elephant is meaningful and also the light in his dark working room. Dating all the way back to the indians, there were hunters that killed animals so they could survive. Hunting was a source of food for the indians and still is a food source for people now. According to an article by Ward M. Clark, a hunter, lecturer, and author, Early hunters knew this very well, as they revered their primary prey. For example, Plains Indians referred to bison as uncle and brother. Paleolithic cave drawings of game animals and hunt scenes are rendered with a loving reverence that is still evident today, thousands of years later, (Clark). This shows that people have been hunting for food for years making it part of our history as humans. Hunting is a part of humans past just as much as gathering food and farming which was also done by the Indians. Clark also said We hunt to pay homage to nature, to life, and to the earth. To make our annual pilgrimage to our beginnings, to lay our hands on our heritage as members of the biotic community. To affirm once more that life feeds on life, and life gives life to life,(Clark). This shows that hunting connects us back to the Indians and all other parts of the world and the culture of humans everywhere. Sometimes poverty forces people to utilize strange ingredients. Sometimes certain crops are more abundant than others, thus the brunt of their food composes of that crop. Necessity forces people to improvise their cuisine; in the earliest times, people cooked food to survive, not to entertain their taste buds. People can also learn how each culture savors its food. For example, the French eat their food quickly. People can also learn about the community through food, how families, schools, and religious institutions eat. Food is essential as it is where culture and ecology intersect , and the act of eating teaches people humanity.
