The andragogical model is one s own concept on one s self. | The role the learners experience|
Adults come into an educational activity with both greater volume and a different quality of
experience from that of youths (Knowles, Holton, Swanson, 2012). Adults have lived longer
than the youth and therefore their experiences are different. There are some potential effects that
are negative in nature with having greater experience. Mental habits, biases, and presuppositions
tend to develop as experience is accumulated. This may cause one to close their minds to new
ideas, fresh perceptions, and alternative ways of thinking (Knowles, Holton, Swanson, 2012). |
The difference in the two models is that is the pedagogical model, the learners experience has
little worth. The teachers, the textbook writer, and the audiovisual aids producer are the only
experience that counts. | Readiness to learn| Adults become ready to learn those things they need
to know and be able to do in order to cope effectively with their real life situations (Knowles,
Holton, Swanson, 2012). The tasks associated with progressing from one stage to the next are
very rich sources of readiness to learn. One need not wait around to be ready, there are techniques,
such as career counseling, and simulation exercises to help induce readiness. | In the pedagogical
model, if the learner

Eli Movie Reflection
The movie is about Eli who carries a book that will save and redeem the whole humanity. His
task was to bring the book in a safe place where after a nuclear apocalypse the setting is in the
desert. He travels in the wasteland where there is nothing and no life in order to fulfill his
destiny in helping in the salvation of mankind. It was a survival of men for himself, Eli
travelling alone, hunting for food, searching for water, finding shelter and fought some desert
bandits soon encounters Carnegie and his gang. They lived a violent and low life wherein
Carnegie s focus is to expand territory and rule over others and lead them to a miserable, poor
and crime driven life using the power of a certain book which Eli carry. He was accommodated
by Carnegie where he met his blind wife Claudia together with the daughter Solara, Carnegie
then send Solara to seduce Eli but he rejected him and instead share her food, the grace and
prayer. After that Carnegie heard Solara s word which is quite familiar for him; it was the
words that was in the book he have been looking. Through Solara, he then found out that Eli
contains the book, Eli then leaves the town with Solara following him while Carnegie with his
gang searches for him and plans to take him down to steal the book so he can use the power for
his own desire. In an economic aspect, I can connect the book for it shows scarcity, because during
the nuclear apocalypse every copy of the book was intentionally destroyed and only Eli has

I Am Sam
In the film I Am Sam directed by Jessie Nelson, Sean Penn portrays a mentally
retarded(Intillectual Disability) man named Sam Dawson who has a mental capacity of a seven
year old in the film. Sam is a single father raising his seven year old daughter Lucy, by himself.
Since Sam has the mental capacity of a seven year old, he has a simple job at Starbucks where he
organizes and cleans up the store in order to make it presentable. Sam has many symptoms through
out the film that are very apparent with someone with mental retardation. He also faces many
challenges due to his mental capacity being that of a seven year old. These challenges and
functional limitations often have negative life experiences on Sam throughout the movie.

I was really shocked that he didn t have his own caseworker. Most adults that I know that have a
developmental disability of some sort have a caseworker to help them transition through the
different stages in their life. I felt that this movie did a somewhat good job of portraying the
developmental disability of mental retardation.
This film has affected me as a potential service provider in a couple of different ways. If I were the
child s caseworker, I would try to work as a family to problem solve instead of going against the
father. The next thing I would do, would be to get Sam a caseworker or steer him to the right
direction of having one. I would also find resources to help him and his daughter as a family.
I did learn several new things about mental retardation during my research after the film. Mental
Retardation is often referred to as Intellectual Disability now. Also there is a new system to
assessing people for Mental Retardation. This system is called The Supports Intensity Scale
(SIS) ( Tool emphasizes needed, 2004). It assesses the individual as a whole and not just based of
their IQ test. I find that it is extremely important to assess individuals as a whole and not just off
of one area. This way as a service provider you have a better picture of the person as a whole and
what they need to work on instead of one

1. Draw a Gantt chart for the construction phase of the program. What is the completion date if
construction starts in March? What is the completion date of the project if construction is started
in November? If the project is started on March 1st, 2012, the finish date is July 30th, 2013. For
the November start date, the case does not mention exactly what date the project should start but
rather mentions that it should start after the elections. We do not have the election date so I will
assume a start date of November 14th, 2011, which is a Monday. In this case, the end date of the
project would be April 11th, 2013. However, the case states that if the project starts in November,

project dates stated in question 3 for this question and also consider that occupancy may begin
when the first 45 units are ready, which is May 23rd, 2013. This means that the Marketing Plan and
Implementation must be completed by this date. The Marketing VP states that she needs 5 months
lead time for the implementation of the plan and thus, must begin 5 months prior to May 23rd,
2013. With the Gantt chart, found in Annex, chart d), this gives us a start date of September 14th,

The Nature Of The Prince In Machiavelli s The Prince
A Lion is a King and a Fox is the Thief
Since, then, a prince must know how to use well the nature of the beast, he should choose from
among the beasts the fox and the lion; for the lion cannot defend itself from traps, while the fox
cannot protect itself from the wolves. It is therefore necessary to be a fox, in order to recognize the
traps, and a lion, in order to frighten the wolves (Machiavelli 60). When must the Prince be the lion
and when must he be the fox? In The Prince written by Machiavelli, Machiavelli writes to the
Prince to tell him the best way to rule over a principality, and the consequences of the decisions
he makes in his ruling. Machiavelli applies figurative language, such as metaphors to explain the
way a situation will often play out. He represents different roles of leadership as animals. The
different animals, lion, wolf, fox, have varying characteristics. Machiavelli uses the metaphors of a
lion and a fox in order to illustrate the need for a prince to be both strong and brave and sly and
cunning. The effect of these metaphors is to demonstrate that a prince must demonstrate more than
just one characteristic in order to lead with power and authority.
The Prince needs to know how to use well the nature of the beast (60). He must think like an animal
in matters that concern his ruling. If the Prince thinks as an animal his priorities would then be to
ensure the security of the kingdom and his throne. His military strength will prevent

Analysis of Tolkien s The Hobbit
J.R.R. Tolkien starts his world renowned book The Hobbit with, In a hole in the ground there
lived a hobbit (1). This book is a tale of a small hobbit named Bilbo and his ever memorable
journey through the evil world during his time. Living in the Shire, as his homeland is called, it
is very calm and pleasant for Bilbo, but once the outer limits of the land are reached Bilbo is in
for a great surprise. Needing a burglar on his journey Gandalf the Grey, who is famous for his
magic with fire and light, came to ask for Bilbo s assistance. Gandalf was accompanied with
thirteen dwarves who were after their long ago taken, but never forgotten treasure. The last evil

Bilbo listened intently as the dwarves sang songs and told poems of their long ago taken land.
Singing of golden hoards and long forgotten gold Bilbo began to become very enthusiastic about
the soon to come journey (22). As the dwarves went on, the hobbit felt that this journey would be
good for him. He accepted the task, but not before the Dwarves, along with Gandalf, enchanted
the young hobbit with the treasure to be found. Being fairly wealthy Bilbo had no need for this
wealth, but before long the hobbit could feel the love of beautiful things made by hands and by
cunning and by magic moving through him, and a fierce and jealous love, the desire of the hearts
of dwarves (24). Apparently Bilbo is beginning to change from a commoner to a treasure seeker,
not quite beginning to become a hero, but change is still change. Soon Bilbo s transition into a hero
will begin, with a rude awakening.
So before Bilbo new what was happening and even before dawn the next morning the troop of
fifteen set out. Through the Shire no adventure or trouble was found, but that soon changed.
Within a few leagues of the Shire s border young Bilbo encountered his first adventure. Walking
slowly through the dark, Gandalf quickly stopped and hushed the others. Up above the road a
small fire could be seen and cold, low voices could be heard singing of roasted mutton. Bilbo was
sent to see what was up above since he could sneak almost silently. Much to his amazement he saw

The Father Of The Computer

The United States has a quite different educational system than China. In China, there is not
something like GMAT or GRE in the process of application. After the students pass the national
exams for English politics and math, they will need to go through the major course test of the
university in which they applied. Chinese students can just apply for one university s master degree
in the end of their senior year. However, if international students want to apply for master degrees in
the United States, they need to start in the end of their junior year. In addition, there are also many
additional requirements for international students in the admission process. As a result, most

Animal Farm Literary Analysis
George Orwell, the writer of Animal Farm, Why I Write, and Politics and Language, was arguably
one of the most influential writers of the 1900s. Orwell has written multiple pieces of literature
that have helped him develop his purpose, which is to spread the message that power corrupts and
absolute power corrupts absolutely. Ultimately, Orwell effectively fuses his political and artistic
purpose into a single powerful work of art in his short novel Animal Farm.
One of Orwell s most influential political novels is Animal Farm. Animal Farm is a book about a
group about mistreated and abused animals who overthrow their neglectful owner and form a
new society. Although their society is formed around the idea of equality, it still resulted in chaos.
Orwell wrote Animal Farm as a response to communism in the Russian Revolution. Communism
is extremely similar to the way things worked on Animal Farm... communism always started off
with positive intentions, but ended in chaos. In the novel, Orwell does a good job of showing the
reader that the animals are not undergoing the best conditions, Towards the end of the book,
Orwell says, Starvation seemed to star them in the face. Orwell s novel is filled with symbolism
and irony which helps us infer the specific events and people he references in the book. Orwell
achieved his purpose in the book Animal Farm by shifting the hopeful tone to one of despair.

Saussure s And Diachronic Perspectives
SAUSSURE S
SYNCHRONIC AND DIACHRONIC PERSPECTIVES
ASSIGNMENT BY: MANASWITA CHAKRABORTY DEPT. OF LINGUISTICS MA 1st
SEMESTER ROLL NO: 34
INTRODUCTION
One of the major consequences of the arbitrary nature of sign, is the distinction made between the
synchronic and diachronic study of language by the Swiss linguist and semiotician Ferdinand De
Saussure. Regarding the debate surrounding the perspective, it has been suggested by Saussure s
critics that in trying to distinguish between these two, and in granting priority on the synchronic
nature of study over the diachronic one, he was to a great extent ignoring the historical entity of
language. Inspite of the distinction made by Saussure, he believed that both kind of facts are
intertwined. Hence it raised a paradoxical situation.
SYNCHRONIC AND DIACHRONIC STUDY OF LANGUAGES
Synchronic study of language refers to the study of the linguistic system in a particular state
without taking the time period through which it has evolved into consideration. Here the languages
are treated as self contained systems of communication at any specific time without taking it s
history into account.
In contrast to the synchronic study of languages, is the diachronic study which studies the evolution
of a linguistic system over a period of time and are treated

The Causes And Effects Of Stress In College Students
Over the last few years, stress levels have climbed 30 percent amongst all college aged students
(Feldt, 2008). Stress is defined as A state of psychological and psychological arousal that results
when outside demands surpass a person s abilities (Zajacova, Lynch, Espenshade, 2005). The
increased pattern of stressis due to more college students determining their success based upon
materialistic measures and thinking futuristically (Zajacova et al., 2005). Unfortunately, a rise in
stress can have many adverse health outcomes for most people. Stress suppresses the immune
system, making it more difficult for your body to fight off viruses that lead to a variety of
illnesses (Straub, 2014). That being said, My Real Age Test showed my inability to manage my
stress was a large concern and will be the focus of my intervention (Sharecare, 2015).
Identifying with having a Type A personality has lead me to be driven but constantly stressed to
achieve high standards in school, and other areas of my life. Unfortunately, not without cost, my
stress has taken a major toll on my immune system. Over the last three years of college, I have
visited the health center 22 times. My stress has affected my immune system s ability to fight off a
variety of viruses from the common cold to pneumonia. Nonetheless, I want to make a positive
change by implementing mindfulness mediation into my daily routine.
Mindfulness meditation involves focusing on awareness of breathing and encouraging

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Radiation
Radiation is the process of which energy is emitted either by particles or waves. (Radiation, n.d.)
. Radioactive isotopes are chemical elements that have different masses and spare energy by
emitting radiation in for of alpha, beta, and gamma rays. Gamma rays are photons with high
energy and a very short wavelength of 0.0005 to 0.1nm. (What is Radioactivity? What is
Radiation?, n.d.) Every chemical element has one or more radioactive isotopes, for example
carbon, it has 3 isotopes with different mass numbers, 12, 13, and 14. Radioactive isotopes have
many different useful applications. In medicine, for example, Cobalt 60 is used as a radiation

On the other hands there are many disadvantages for radiation, let s start, radiation takes a very

toxic for people that are standing near it and unprotected or masked which could result in
serious injury or even death. (Pros and Cons of Radiation, n.d.). Using radioactive isotopes has a
very main role in the category of medication, in another meaning, it has many medical uses. One
of the medical uses of radioactive isotopes is that doctors can see if tibia or also known as the
shinbone has a stress fracture, but ask yourself? How can this be used? The answer is that the

Manifest Destiny And The American Nation
Manifest Destiny is the term used by early Americans to describe the belief of the God given
opportunity to spread and expand westward towards the pacific ocean. Many settlers believed that
God himself blessed the expansion of the American nation. Beginning with the Louisiana Purchase
in 1803, Manifest Destiny brought with it not only territorial acquisitions, but also conflicts over
the spread of slavery. Southerners wanting to find more land for cultivation, were led to the desire
of acquiring new territories. Many citizens (Especially in the North) were deeply concerned about
adding any more slave states. Manifest Destiny introduced a heated issue of the addition of slave
or free states which provoked war with Mexico in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Soon after, the Dred Scott case was introduced into society. The Dred Scott case was a chance to
settle once and for all the question of slavery in the territories. Dred Scott was a slave who, after

by the Missouri Compromise. According to the textbook Liberty, Equality, Power: A History of the
American People by John M. Murrin, Paul E. Johnson, James M. Mcpherson, Alicea Fahs, Gary
Gerstle, Emily S. Rosenberg, and Norman L. Rosenberg, The Southern Supreme Court justices
decided to declare that the Missouri Compromise ban on slavery in the territories was

the power to keep slavery out of a territory, because slaves were property and the Constitution
protects the right of property...Taney also wrote that the circuit court shouldn t have accepted the
Scott case because black men were not citizens of the US and had no standing in its courts. (John

that they proved a law unconstitutional simply because a black man questioned if it applied to
him. The Supreme Court generally said that Negroes were not citizens, even if they were free, and
had no rights. This denied the rights of a man, but after all,

According to the former national coordinator for security, infrastructure protection for the United
States, Richard Clarke, believes that companies can be put into two types those that have been
breached and know it and companies that have been and just don t know it yet. With so many
cyber breaches and personal data being released into the wrong hands has many companies
wanting to strike back on their own. While this idea may seem reasonable I believe that companies
should have a cyber strategy such as identifying assets, outline a plan of action, develop
partnerships, and train their employees.
Companies must first identify their asset and what it is they are wanting to protect. Each company
has a different set of standards they are wanting to protect. For example, retail operations, healthcare
facilities, and higher education institutions have a very different asset to protect than a
manufacturing company, energy, telecommunication center and financial institutions.... Show more

Outlining a plan of action can be done in many ways but a company s main concern is to make

There are many ways a company can protect itself and varies from company to company and state
to state but many will use the following best practices to secure their company before a breach:
only assigning one person to be responsible for security, conduct an assessment to identify areas

The Myers-Briggs Personality Test
It has been said that every human being has Personality Type and temperament that shape who
they are and determines their relationships at work, school, and home and with spouse. It goes
further to predict their future, sort of, with respect to our career and occupational choice, such as
scientist, thinkers, artist, and so on. So in this project I will be receiving my four letter type and
two letter Temperaments by completing the Myers Briggs Personality Test. It is not at all
surprising that as people of different characters, ideas, personalities, and sizes are sharing the same
world, we need something to make sense why we are the way we are, and the why psychological
testing was invented in 1927 to help in answering this questions. Based... Show more content on

the Arkansas code. These DDoS attacks are one way attack someone by affecting their computer
network. DDoS attacks send a message to the people running the network that they can be
affected, many people use DDoS attacks to make a political statement. One recent DDoS attack
against the Luxembourg government was made in late February of this year According to
reports from the Luxemburger Wort, the attack started at 9.30 am, forcing the web servers of
many state authorities offline or difficult to reach. Just over an hour later, the state owned IT
operator Centre des Techniques de l information de l Etat (CTIE) sent a message via Twitter, to
confirm that the network was the victim of a DDoS attack (Millman, 2017) there cannot be a sure
reason for the attack but these types of attacks are used in a political context to protest the actions

Persuasive Speech On Babysitting
Many teenagers turn toward babysitting as a means of earning money. However, the first time a
person babysits can be nerve wracking. Children are unimaginably important to their parents. It
takes a lot of trust for a parent to put his or her child in the care and protection of a babysitter.
This puts an immense amount of pressure on a babysitter to be perfect. Despite all the stress
babysitting can bring, it is easy if you follow four simple rules. When first arriving at the house, it
is important to ask for all the necessary contact and emergency information, so that if anything bad
happened, you would know who to call and what to do. Because an emergency is a high stress
situation, you could easily forget the emergency information. It is helpful to write down the
information as you receive it and putting it somewhere that is readily available. This eliminates the
possibility of forgetting the information and ensures that you can handle an emergency quickly and
effectively.
Along with emergency and contact information, ask about the child s typical schedule when they
eat meals, if and/or when they take a nap, and other basic rules the parent has. Do your best to stick
to these schedules, but do not force the schedule on the child. Sometimes kids get tired sooner than
naptime or are not hungry at dinnertime. This is completely okay. Do not be afraid to upset the
parent by not following the schedule strictly. Generally, children are unpredictable and schedules

Paul Revere s Ride Summary
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow s, Paul Revere s Ride, is based off of the historical events that
took place in the late 1800s during the American Revolution against the British. Henry wrote this
poem to recall the brave and courageous journey made by the real Paul Revere. While his
rendition of the story wasn t completely accurate, due to the fact that Paul was not the only
midnight rider, it still served as a great example of what a true American hero looks like. The
author once stated, Lives of great men all remind us, we can make our lives sublime, and,
departing, leave behind us, footprints on the sands of time. Henry uses this story to bring the
audience on the journey of Paul Revere. More importantly he uses the story to describe the... Show

Henry writes that the fate of a nation was riding that night , in other words to say that the fate of

the British arrival, then many of America s people would have not made it or been prepared to
fight back. The author gives the audience a time frame of which these events occurred. He states,
It was one by the village clock, when he galloped into Lexington. And later says, It was two by
the village clock, when he came to the bridge in Concord town. A sense of repetition can be seen
here by the wording and the time elements being in numerical order. The poem concludes to say

prices were unrealistically high. Most of those firms were operating under loses and no tangible
assets to warrant those prices. Analysts justified those prices and recommended buy ratings but later

It may pay off to undertake R amp;D investments in a project with negative value if the early
investments provide sufficient information about the future benefits of a project. The value of an
internet firm is largely dependent on (1) firm s ability to adapt to enormous uncertainty, (2)
competitive landscape paced with technology innovations,(3) changing market conditions and (4)
costs of searching for a profitable business model. Valuations can be extremely high if the initial
growth rates are high and if there is enough volatility in this growth over time, The author s
argument is that high valuation of internet stocks is attributed to the investment opportunities
approach. This approach suggests that the presence of growth opportunities to invest new capital
results to projects with a promising rate of rate return higher than normal. The investment
opportunities approach states that value of a growth firm is equal to the PV of cash flows from
assets in place and the present value of growth opportunity (Vj = V1 + V2). It suggests that
investors should pay a premium for earnings of a growth firms relative to mature firms due to the
presence of profitability multiplier in growth firms. The author proposes a modified investment
opportunities approach which incorporates advertising and R amp;D into the equation when
valuing growth firms; V = E/k m + RD+A/k (m 1). This is

School Safety And The Environment
As the climate in schools continues to change, parents and educators are concerned with school
safety and the environment. The role of the school counselor is to help students develop positive
social skills and to ensure students have access to academic and social activities regardless of their
age, gender, sexual orientation, race, socioeconomic status and religion. Schools in American are
made up of children of color and many of them face inequality because of old institutional practices
that don t meet the needs of all students. Minority students, low income students and students who
speak a language other than English, tend to be assigned to teachers who lack the experience and
skills to educate multicultural students ( (Peske, 2006). Schools that fail to recognize multicultural
education, deprive students from attaining the skills and individual beliefs and values they need to
succeed post high school. Students that feel invalidated tend to feel anger and rejected by their
peers. They also are more likely to have problems reaching academic success. As a professional that
seek to help all individuals in need, one must have a willingness to recognize and understand the
worth all people. Multicultural counseling/therapy means understanding the worldviews and life
experiences of diverse groups in our nation (Sue, 2013). Consider a Latino male student that has

The First Year Of Life
Infancy is defined as the period from birth to 12 months of age (Kyle, 2008). Growth and
development changes which occur in the first year of life are numerous and dramatic (Kyle,
2008). The first year of life is an extraordinary and captivating time in the human lifespan (Kyle,
2008). Infants reveal vast amounts of learning in the psychosocial and cognitive, language and
communication, and social/emotional domains (Kyle, 2008). The average weight of a newborn
is 7lb. 8oz. (Kyle, 2008). Most infants double their birth weight by the time they are 4 to 6
months, weighing an average of 16.5 lbs. (Kyle, 2008). The average height in most newborns is
19 to 21 inches long at birth, however the first 6 months; length increases by 1 inch per month
(Kyle, 2008). On average, the first teeth begin to erupt between the ages of 6 to 8 months (Kyle,
2008).
The normal development for a 6 month infant includes appropriate motor development such as
sensory and gross motor (Kyle, 2008). A newborn can see objects from about 8 inches away
(Kyle, 2008). Infant begin to develop rapidly, by the time they are 6 months they have developed
depth perception, which is the ability to judge if objects are nearer or farther away than other
objects (Kyle, 2008). Babies at this age can already follow moving objects with their eyes and
reach for things (Kyle, 2008). Hearing is an important aspect, which by 6 months they can identify
sounds that may come from the left or the right side (Kyle, 2008).

The Physics Of Albert Einstein

BIO 101
Professor Dartley

Albert Einstein Most people know who Albert Einstein is and how great of a physicist he was,
yet many aren t aware that Albert Einstein had not even finished high school! Most would think
that a person who doesn t complete high school is dumb, and lazy. The fact is, Einstein did not
complete high school, not because he was dumb or lazy. At the age of 15, he quit high school
because he did not agree with the way the teachers taught. He thought that the teacher s weren t
teaching in a way that didn t allow students to freely question or use their creative imagination.
Einstein once said Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one. By this he shows that
he isn t for seeing things the way they seem, and he tends to think deeper into things. He shows
that he keeps his mind open, open to learn new things that can t be noticed by a simple glance.
Many would also think that one who drops out of high school may not go anywhere in life.
Einstein won a Nobel Prize in Physics, a Gold Medal of The Royal Astronomical Society, and many
other awards. Even if Einstein never even finished high school, his creation of the equation E =
mc2, theory of relativity, and theory of light led the way to him becoming known as the father of
modern physics. Albert Einstein was Born in Ulm, WГјrttemberg, Germany in 1879. He was the
son of Hermann Einstein, a salesman and engineer who was the head of Elektrotechnische Fabrik J.

Minimum Benefits Of Minimum Wages
Minimum wages are described as the minimum amount of remuneration that an employer is
required to pay wage earners for the work/services performed during a given tenure, which cannot
be reduced by collective agreement or an individual contract . Minimum wages can be established
by statute, competent decision authority, a wageboard, a wage council, or by industrial or labour
courts.
The significance of minimum wages is to shield workers against disproportionately low pay.

In both cases of minimum wage, there is an overall increase in labour supply and an overall
reduction in demand of labour. Hence, implementing or increasing minimum wage results in loss of
jobs theoretically. However, it also relies on the country s economic activity which may or may not
result in loss of jobs. Additionally, case 2 reflects the scenario where the government delivers
unemployment benefits to its unemployed citizens. In this case the dead weight loss is catered by
the government which in return puts a great deal of financial burden on the government.

The Montessori Method Essay
The Montessori Method (Word count includes Annotated Bibliography)
The Montessori method began in the early 1900 s by the first female doctor in Italy, Dr. Mary
Montessori, as a way of educating mentally disabled children. Her ideas were so successful with
these children that she began to apply her understanding of learning to study the potential of
normally functioning children (Oalf, 2001). Dr. Montessori s approach to education stresses the
importance of learning styles, independence and responsibility.
According to Maria Montessori, In the special environment prepared?in our schools, the children

In reality, the children move about the classroom independently, choosingthe order of their
learning activities. There may be 15 or more activities, or ?jobs? as they are called in some
Montessori classrooms, occurring at the same time with small groups or individual work, yet
the classroom remains quiet, yet busy and productive, sometimes with the soft hush of classical
music playing in the background. Many Montessori school classrooms place a card around the
child?s neck with the day?s objectives written in the form of a checklist for the students to
monitor themselves. This checklist encourages the students to take responsibility for their own
learning, as well as discourages prompt dependence, since the student need not wait for
instruction. Some of the activities in a Montessori classroom include reading, pre reading using
phonics, math, discovery science and writing. Children learn skills in a way that he or she is
not aware that learning is taking place. For example, a child playing in the sand box with a small
rake is not aware that he or she is learning fine motor skills and how to hold and control a pencil.
Another observation in a Montessori classroom is that most classrooms tend to span three grade
levels. This practice allows to children to become mentors to younger students. Also, the large gap
in developmental levels allows children to ?learn at their own pace? (Keller, 2001), which is
another important Montessori

Information Age, All Share A Common Underlying Purpose
While there are a great variety of maps available in the information age, all share a common
underlying purpose. The fourth edition of Elements of Cartography concisely defines a map s
objective as to add to the geological understanding of the viewer; it is a carefully designed
instrument for recording, calculating, displaying, analyzing and, in general, understanding the
interrelation of things in their spatial relationship (Robinson et al. 1978). This is a truly holistic
definition of a map, addressing not only geographical features but quite literally anything that can
be displayed spatially on Earth. An excellent example that fits this definition is the clichГ© map
of Canada distributed to the class. This map would not fit a more archaic definition, like G. R.
Crone s assentation that the purpose of a map is to graphically express the relations of points
and features on the Earth s surface to each other, determined by distance and direction (1953).
Yet, the clichГ©s do form a map. Indeed, a representation of things in their spatial relationship to
add to the geological understanding of the viewer is truly what a map is. These representations
are invaluable in a number of different ways. The second edition of Map Use describes seven key
roles of a map: to record and store information, serve as computational aids, serve as mobility aids,
summarize complex representations and voluminous data, help us explore data, help us visualize
what would be otherwise obscure, and

In the episode I chose to watch, Evan Smith did an interview with Bernie Sanders. This episode
was originally aired on April 16, 2015, so the topic of discussion was if Bernie Sanders would be
running for president and what were the issues he would focus on if so. Sanders made some very
good points when he talked about our economy and the top one percent. He stated that the Koch
Brothers are the second wealthiest family in America and they spend at least $900 million in
campaigns so they basically own the country. I think this is very scary because if they along with
other billionaires are the ones giving the money to campaigns then they are the only voices that are
being heard. The Koch brothers have become too powerful and they are trying to own the political
system. Though many people, especially the younger generation, likes Sanders views and what he

see Bernie Sanders becoming our next president. I say this not only because people don t vote,
but because as good as his issues sound, EVERYONE in America would have to contribute in
order for the changes he want to make actually take action. Sanders also talks about raising the
minimum wage prices, which I am aware President Obama has been trying to enforce.
Whitehouse.gov states that seventeen states and Washington D.C have passed laws to raise
minimum wage, but Sanders want more states to join and go a little bit higher. To me this seems

Do Different Brands Of Popcorn Affect How Many Kernels
Do different brands of popcorn affect how many kernels pop?
Introduction
The grocery store shelves are filled with many varieties, sizes, and brands of the same item.
There are numerous kinds of popcorn, large and small, produced by different manufacturers.
Some people choose products based on need, some base their decisions on price and some base
their decision on quality or brand loyalty. With all of these options it can be difficult to choose.
You may want to save money but at what cost? In this experiment we will determine if generics

The Hawaiian Seizure The annexation of Hawaii was an important event in the history of the
world. It is still not easy for the Hawaiians to accept the fact that America had taken over a land

the islanders after a plebiscite. Queen Lydia Kamakaeha Liliuokalani was overthrown because of
the support of the United Statesarmy as well as naval forces to a group of businessmen belonging

Congress did not act upon this command. In 1894, Hawaii came under Stanford Dole, who,

In 2009 FedEx launched a multimillion dollar campaign aimed at its rival UPS, Why is mega
corporation UPS trying to use its political clout to get a bailout from the U.S. Congress, leaving
you to pay the tab . Rival UPS calls FedEx the only company in the transportation industry with
ground employees covered by a railroad and airline law. Most of the forces are from moderate to
low besides the threat of intense rivalry which signals that this is an attractive industry to be within.
Business Level Strategy:
From the beginning UPS and FedEx both had very different strategies in the delivery industry.
UPS was focused on ground transportation, as more of a substitute for United States Postal
Service. UPS has over 100,000 ground transportation vehicles compared to only 20,000 ground
vehicles in service at FedEx. The focus of FedEx has always been to be an air delivery company
that is trying to pursue a strategy of being able to deliver a parcel the next day. FedEx proves this
focus with nearly 700 jets in service compared to only 300 at rival UPS. FedEx and UPS both
say the market of overnight delivery as the direction to pursue. UPS was able to accept this and
move forward allowing its ground department to absorb the expense, while FedEx suffered a great
deal and we hit with higher cost do to them having to hire independent contractors. Over the years,
these two companies have changed their overall positioning strategy in the domestic delivery
industry. As

The Parable Of The Talents
The parable of the talents has a decent amount of debate in regards to the meaning. This parable is
told by Jesus in Matthew 25: 14 30, to convey a moral lesson. Although many people have different
beliefs, my opinion is that the parable represents opportunity, relationship, and the Kingdom of
Heaven.
Chapter 25 of Matthew is Jesus answering the disciple s questions regarding the destruction of the
temple, the sign of his return, and the end of the age. His answers are given to them in the three
parables, all acknowledging Jesus coming back in the future. The parable of the talents is told
during the Olivet discourse, given on the Mount of Olives. The discourse was an extended teaching
given by Jesus Christ. His subject [was] the end time. Jesus is telling the parable to his disciples,
before his upcoming resurrection. With that, it would make sense that Jesus has told these stories to
the disciples so that when he is killed, his word and lessons continue.
The parable of the talents is one parable within a series. It is important that while researching the
parable of the talents, other parables are analyzed in Matthew as well. Many themes throughout
Matthew are interconnected, especially the Kingdom of Heaven. The parable of the ten virgins
precedes the parable of the talents. In this story, the wise virgins who bring extra oil for their lamps
symbolize preparedness for Jesus return. After the parable of the talents, the story of the separation
of the goats and

Uncle Tom s Cabin, by Harriet Beecher Stowe
Uncle Tom s Cabin has been explained as being a history of harmful acts towards Blacks in
America for a period of a hundred and thirty years (Stowe, Nineteenth ). 51).The book Uncle Tom
s Cabin was one of History s favorite books (Stowe, Nineteenth 1). It talks about how Tom would
do anything for the white man (Stowe, Uncle 1). The southerners did not give Harriet Beecher
Stoweand credit for writing the book (Piacentino 1). Uncle Tom showed a lot of Christianity in
this book, but the master showed no Christianity at all (Stowe, Uncle 1). Among the slave owners
they used racial stereo types among the blacks and the women (Piacentino 1). The women in this
book were treated badly (Foster 1). Some women did not like the way the slave... Show more

Tom has good sense and is very kind (Stowe, Uncle 11). Uncle Tom was a very dark skinned man
(HIllegass 1). He was in his early fifties at the time (Hillegass 1). He would always play tricks with
his masters (Tanner 72). His cabin showed how Christians acted towards each other compared to
Chloe s cabin (Stowe, Uncle 10). Topsy, she was not the main character of this story, but played an
important part (Hillegass 10). She was about eight years old and she was a slave of St. Clare
(Hillegass 1). She would lie to get out of work she had to (Hillegass 1). They would think that she
would be good for breeding, because of her light colored skin (Hillegass 1). She was beaten up
physically and psychologically (Hillegass 1). Eliza was a maid for Mrs. Shelby (Hillegass 1). Eliza
and her five year old son Harry escaped to the North, where eventually her son was sold to Mrs.
Haley (Hillegass 1). Eliza s husband George finally finds both her and her son Harry and soon fled
to Canada, France and Liberia. George Harris is the husband of Eliza (Hillegass 1). George s
ancestors were mostly considered to be the anti thesis of Tom (Hillegass 1). George s ancestors
were mostly white (Hillegass 1). As a spokesman against slavery, he began to be reluctant
materialistic (HIllegas 1). He began to turn his back on his slaves (Hillegass 1). He was a big

Power Of Context By Malcolm Gladwell Essay
Conventional wisdom has it, that criminals commit crime of their own volition. This belief is based
on the concept that human character exists independently from their environment. Gladwell
challenges conventional wisdom, claiming that the matter is significantly more complex. Gladwell
s theory, Power of Context, basically identifies small details within an environmentand how they can
heavily influence said environment. The Power of Context is extremely enlightening; because it
sheds light on the observed behavior within Johnson s self organizing Manchester and Faludi s
archaic Citadel. Gladwell builds his theory off of the concept of Broken Windows, wherein
relatively minor problems like graffiti... [are] invitations to more serious crimes (Gladwell 152).
These findings challenge the conventional wisdom and draw distinct parallels with Johnson s
Manchester. Johnson sees similar behavior in the self organizing nature of Manchester s
neighborhoods, cities have lives of their own, with neighborhoods clustering into place without any
Robert Moses figure dictating the plan from above (Johnson 198). In other words, the environment
is a complex, living, breathing ecosystem that develops in harmony with its population and vice
versa. Where there is chaos, it breeds chaos. Neighborhoods with crime continue to produce crime
because of environmental variables. In contrast, one could argue that neighborhoods without crime
and strong citizen involvement would,

Should Gas Prices Be Raised
If a person was asked a question such as Should taxes be raised? Their answer would most likely be
no way! The reasons why gas prices should not be raised is because if the price is raised then the
poor people will have a harder time paying for their house and bills, and by the way expanding
economy and cheaper oil makes more moneyfor the United States, and last if there is a smaller
price on gas then the demand for it will go down by a lot. First of all, it is very obvious that if
the prices go up for something, then people who do not have as much money are going to
struggle. If the prices go up for gas then the non wealthy people will probably have trouble
finding money to pay for their gas in their cars. Not only will they struggle with paying for their
gas, they will have distress in paying for their house and their bills. Imagine living in a governer
house with a few kids and a wife or a husband. Then all the sudden the gas prices go up about one
dollar! That family would not be happy at those changes. Then if they found out that the
government increased the prices only to reduce consumption, then they would definitely be in
rough scenario. Next, if America expanded their economy then that means more money. When they
say more money for America, then they mean a bunch more for the United States. They say that by

There is the reason that the needy or the non wealthier people in a community usually have a
harder time paying off their house bills or even getting to places like work for example. Also, it
will not only be better for the poor, but keeping gas prices lower it stimulates economic growth.
People will want to travel more and will want to spend their money on better and more important
things. Last, gas will be more accessible if the cost is declined. Raising the price of gasoline to
decrease consumption is a short term

Examples Of Superstition In Julius Caesar
Superstition and the Supernatural Superstition and the supernatural have been around since people
first inhabited the earth. However, as society has progressed, these beliefs have been seen as
naГЇve and foolish. Nevertheless, superstition was a major part in Roman life and thus William
Shakespeare uses superstition and the supernatural in his play Julius Caesar. Superstition and the
supernatural held great importance in the time of Caesar and often influenced the decisions people
made. Superstition is defined as a belief or way of behaving that is based on fear of the unknown
and faith in magic or luck. Supernatural is defined as things that cannot be explained according to
natural laws. In Julius Caesar, many superstitious and supernatural... Show more content on

Three examples are Calpurnia s dream, the soothsayer, and Brutus seeing Caesar s ghost.
Calpurnia s dream foreshadows Caesar s death, which in turn furthers the plot. It also shows
Calpurnia as a loving wife of Caesar and also develops Caesar s fatal flaw, flattery. The
soothsayer again foreshadows Caesar s death, which again furthers the plot. The soothsayer also
develops Caesar as arrogant and proud. Caesar choosing between superstitious events also shows
and develops his arrogance. Finally, Brutus seeing Caesar s ghost is again another example of
foreshadowing as the ghost predicts the death of Brutus, which again progresses the plot. The
event also shows that Brutus is second guessing his decision of betraying Caesar. Superstition
and the supernatural made Julius Caesar what it was, a play full of fateful decisions. Although
Caesar was arrogant, that was what him such a great leader. Caesar was not afraid of the
decisions he made and was not afraid of anyone or anything. As Caesar said Cowards die many
times before their deaths; the valiant never taste of death but once (2.2

The andragogical model is one s own concept on one s self. | The role the learners experience| Adults come into an educational activity with both greater volume and a different quality of experience from that of youths (Knowles, Holton, Swanson, 2012). Adults have lived longer than the youth and therefore their experiences are different. There are some potential effects that are negative in nature with having greater experience. Mental habits, biases, and presuppositions tend to develop as experience is accumulated. This may cause one to close their minds to new ideas, fresh perceptions, and alternative ways of thinking (Knowles, Holton, Swanson, 2012). | The difference in the two models is that is the pedagogical model, the learners experience has little worth. The teachers, the textbook writer, and the audiovisual aids producer are the only experience that counts. | Readiness to learn| Adults become ready to learn those things they need to know and be able to do in order to cope effectively with their real life situations (Knowles, Holton, Swanson, 2012). The tasks associated with progressing from one stage to the next are very rich sources of readiness to learn. One need not wait around to be ready, there are techniques, such as career counseling, and simulation exercises to help induce readiness. | In the pedagogical model, if the learner ... I was really shocked that he didn t have his own caseworker. Most adults that I know that have a developmental disability of some sort have a caseworker to help them transition through the different stages in their life. I felt that this movie did a somewhat good job of portraying the developmental disability of mental retardation. This film has affected me as a potential service provider in a couple of different ways. If I were the child s caseworker, I would try to work as a family to problem solve instead of going against the father. The next thing I would do, would be to get Sam a caseworker or steer him to the right direction of having one. I would also find resources to help him and his daughter as a family. I did learn several new things about mental retardation during my research after the film. Mental Retardation is often referred to as Intellectual Disability now. Also there is a new system to assessing people for Mental Retardation. This system is called The Supports Intensity Scale (SIS) ( Tool emphasizes needed, 2004). It assesses the individual as a whole and not just based of their IQ test. I find that it is extremely important to assess individuals as a whole and not just off of one area. What is the completion date of the project if construction is started in November? If the project is started on March 1st, 2012, the finish date is July 30th, 2013. For the November start date, the case does not mention exactly what date the project should start but rather mentions that it should start after the elections. We do not have the election date so I will assume a start date of November 14th, 2011, which is a Monday. In this case, the end date of the project would be April 11th, 2013. I will consider the project dates stated in question 3 for this question and also consider that occupancy may begin when the first 45 units are ready, which is May 23rd, 2013. This means that the Marketing Plan and Implementation must be completed by this date. The Marketing VP states that she needs 5 months lead time for the implementation of the plan and thus, must begin 5 months prior to May 23rd, 2013. With the Gantt chart, found in Annex, chart d), this gives us a start date of September 14th, 2012. 5. What is the next step the team members must take in order to complete their project plans? • 7. The Nature Of The Prince In Machiavelli s The Prince A Lion is a King and a Fox is the Thief Since, then, a prince must know how to use well the nature of the beast, he should choose from among the beasts the fox and the lion; for the lion cannot defend itself from traps, while the fox cannot protect itself from the wolves. It is therefore necessary to be a fox, in order to recognize the traps, and a lion, in order to frighten the wolves (Machiavelli 60). When must the Prince be the lion and when must he be the fox? In The Prince written by Machiavelli, Machiavelli writes to the Prince to tell him the best way to rule over a principality, and the consequences of the decisions he makes in his ruling. Machiavelli applies figurative language, such as metaphors to explain the way a situation will often play out. He represents different roles of leadership as animals. The different animals, lion, wolf, fox, have varying characteristics. Machiavelli uses the metaphors of a lion and a fox in order to illustrate the need for a prince to be both strong and brave and sly and cunning. The effect of these metaphors is to demonstrate that a prince must demonstrate more than just one characteristic in order to lead with power and authority. The Prince needs to know how to use well the nature of the beast (60). He must think like an animal in matters that concern his ruling. If the Prince thinks as an animal his priorities would then be to ensure the security of the kingdom and his throne. His military strength will prevent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He accepted the task, but not before the Dwarves, along with Gandalf, enchanted the young hobbit with the treasure to be found. Being fairly wealthy Bilbo had no need for this wealth, but before long the hobbit could feel the love of beautiful things made by hands and by cunning and by magic moving through him, and a fierce and jealous love, the desire of the hearts of dwarves (24). • 12. Animal Farm Literary Analysis George Orwell, the writer of Animal Farm, Why I Write, and Politics and Language, was arguably one of the most influential writers of the 1900s. Orwell has written multiple pieces of literature that have helped him develop his purpose, which is to spread the message that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Ultimately, Orwell effectively fuses his political and artistic purpose into a single powerful work of art in his short novel Animal Farm. One of Orwell s most influential political novels is Animal Farm. Animal Farm is a book about a group about mistreated and abused animals who overthrow their neglectful owner and form a new society. Although their society is formed around the idea of equality, it still resulted in chaos. Orwell wrote Animal Farm as a response to communism in the Russian Revolution. Communism is extremely similar to the way things worked on Animal Farm... communism always started off with positive intentions, but ended in chaos. In the novel, Orwell does a good job of showing the reader that the animals are not undergoing the best conditions, Towards the end of the book, Orwell says, Starvation seemed to star them in the face. Orwell s novel is filled with symbolism and irony which helps us infer the specific events and people he references in the book. Orwell achieved his purpose in the book Animal Farm by shifting the hopeful tone to one of despair. George Orwell s Autobiographical Essay, Why I Write explains ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Saussure s And Diachronic Perspectives SAUSSURE S SYNCHRONIC AND DIACHRONIC PERSPECTIVES ASSIGNMENT BY: MANASWITA CHAKRABORTY DEPT. OF LINGUISTICS MA 1st SEMESTER ROLL NO: 34 INTRODUCTION One of the major consequences of the arbitrary nature of sign, is the distinction made between the synchronic and diachronic study of language by the Swiss linguist and semiotician Ferdinand De Saussure. Regarding the debate surrounding the perspective, it has been suggested by Saussure s critics that in trying to distinguish between these two, and in granting priority on the synchronic nature of study over the diachronic one, he was to a great extent ignoring the historical entity of language. Inspite of the distinction made by Saussure, he believed that both kind of facts are intertwined. Hence it raised a paradoxical situation. SYNCHRONIC AND DIACHRONIC STUDY OF LANGUAGES Synchronic study of language refers to the study of the linguistic system in a particular state without taking the time period through which it has evolved into consideration. Here the languages are treated as self contained systems of communication at any specific time without taking it s history into account. In contrast to the synchronic study of languages, is the diachronic study which studies the evolution of a linguistic system over a period of time and are treated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Companies must first identify their asset and what it is they are wanting to protect. Each company has a different set of standards they are wanting to protect. For example, retail operations, healthcare facilities, and higher education institutions have a very different asset to protect than a manufacturing company, energy, telecommunication center and financial institutions.... • 25. Persuasive Speech On Babysitting Many teenagers turn toward babysitting as a means of earning money. However, the first time a person babysits can be nerve wracking. Children are unimaginably important to their parents. It takes a lot of trust for a parent to put his or her child in the care and protection of a babysitter. This puts an immense amount of pressure on a babysitter to be perfect. Despite all the stress babysitting can bring, it is easy if you follow four simple rules. When first arriving at the house, it is important to ask for all the necessary contact and emergency information, so that if anything bad happened, you would know who to call and what to do. Because an emergency is a high stress situation, you could easily forget the emergency information. It is helpful to write down the information as you receive it and putting it somewhere that is readily available. This eliminates the possibility of forgetting the information and ensures that you can handle an emergency quickly and effectively. Along with emergency and contact information, ask about the child s typical schedule when they eat meals, if and/or when they take a nap, and other basic rules the parent has. Do your best to stick to these schedules, but do not force the schedule on the child. Sometimes kids get tired sooner than naptime or are not hungry at dinnertime. This is completely okay. Do not be afraid to upset the parent by not following the schedule strictly. Generally, children are unpredictable and schedules are only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While his rendition of the story wasn t completely accurate, due to the fact that Paul was not the only midnight rider, it still served as a great example of what a true American hero looks like. Valuations can be extremely high if the initial growth rates are high and if there is enough volatility in this growth over time, The author s argument is that high valuation of internet stocks is attributed to the investment opportunities approach. This approach suggests that the presence of growth opportunities to invest new capital results to projects with a promising rate of rate return higher than normal. The investment opportunities approach states that value of a growth firm is equal to the PV of cash flows from assets in place and the present value of growth opportunity (Vj = V1 + V2). The role of the school counselor is to help students develop positive social skills and to ensure students have access to academic and social activities regardless of their age, gender, sexual orientation, race, socioeconomic status and religion. Schools in American are made up of children of color and many of them face inequality because of old institutional practices that don t meet the needs of all students. Minority students, low income students and students who speak a language other than English, tend to be assigned to teachers who lack the experience and skills to educate multicultural students ( (Peske, 2006). • 37. Information Age, All Share A Common Underlying Purpose While there are a great variety of maps available in the information age, all share a common underlying purpose. The fourth edition of Elements of Cartography concisely defines a map s objective as to add to the geological understanding of the viewer; it is a carefully designed instrument for recording, calculating, displaying, analyzing and, in general, understanding the interrelation of things in their spatial relationship (Robinson et al. 1978). This is a truly holistic definition of a map, addressing not only geographical features but quite literally anything that can be displayed spatially on Earth. An excellent example that fits this definition is the clichГ© map of Canada distributed to the class. This map would not fit a more archaic definition, like G. R. Crone s assentation that the purpose of a map is to graphically express the relations of points and features on the Earth s surface to each other, determined by distance and direction (1953). Yet, the clichГ©s do form a map. Indeed, a representation of things in their spatial relationship to add to the geological understanding of the viewer is truly what a map is. These representations are invaluable in a number of different ways. His answers are given to them in the three parables, all acknowledging Jesus coming back in the future. The parable of the talents is told during the Olivet discourse, given on the Mount of Olives. The discourse was an extended teaching given by Jesus Christ. His subject [was] the end time. Jesus is telling the parable to his disciples, before his upcoming resurrection. With that, it would make sense that Jesus has told these stories to the disciples so that when he is killed, his word and lessons continue. The parable of the talents is one parable within a series. It is important that while researching the parable of the talents, other parables are analyzed in Matthew as well. Many themes throughout Matthew are interconnected, especially the Kingdom of Heaven. The parable of the ten virgins precedes the parable of the talents. In this story, the wise virgins who bring extra oil for their lamps symbolize preparedness for Jesus return. After the parable of the talents, the story of the separation of the goats and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She was about eight years old and she was a slave of St. Clare (Hillegass 1). She would lie to get out of work she had to (Hillegass 1). • 44. Power Of Context By Malcolm Gladwell Essay Conventional wisdom has it, that criminals commit crime of their own volition. This belief is based on the concept that human character exists independently from their environment. Gladwell challenges conventional wisdom, claiming that the matter is significantly more complex. Gladwell s theory, Power of Context, basically identifies small details within an environmentand how they can heavily influence said environment. The Power of Context is extremely enlightening; because it sheds light on the observed behavior within Johnson s self organizing Manchester and Faludi s archaic Citadel. Gladwell builds his theory off of the concept of Broken Windows, wherein relatively minor problems like graffiti... [are] invitations to more serious crimes (Gladwell 152). These findings challenge the conventional wisdom and draw distinct parallels with Johnson s Manchester. Johnson sees similar behavior in the self organizing nature of Manchester s neighborhoods, cities have lives of their own, with neighborhoods clustering into place without any Robert Moses figure dictating the plan from above (Johnson 198). In other words, the environment is a complex, living, breathing ecosystem that develops in harmony with its population and vice versa. Where there is chaos, it breeds chaos. Neighborhoods with crime continue to produce crime because of environmental variables. In contrast, one could argue that neighborhoods without crime and strong citizen involvement would, ... • 45. Should Gas Prices Be Raised If a person was asked a question such as Should taxes be raised? Their answer would most likely be no way! The reasons why gas prices should not be raised is because if the price is raised then the poor people will have a harder time paying for their house and bills, and by the way expanding economy and cheaper oil makes more moneyfor the United States, and last if there is a smaller price on gas then the demand for it will go down by a lot. First of all, it is very obvious that if the prices go up for something, then people who do not have as much money are going to struggle. If the prices go up for gas then the non wealthy people will probably have trouble finding money to pay for their gas in their cars. Not only will they struggle with paying for their gas, they will have distress in paying for their house and their bills. Imagine living in a governer house with a few kids and a wife or a husband. Then all the sudden the gas prices go up about one dollar! That family would not be happy at those changes. Then if they found out that the government increased the prices only to reduce consumption, then they would definitely be in rough scenario. Next, if America expanded their economy then that means more money. When they say more money for America, then they mean a bunch more for the United States. They say that by ... • 46. Examples Of Superstition In Julius Caesar Superstition and the Supernatural Superstition and the supernatural have been around since people first inhabited the earth. However, as society has progressed, these beliefs have been seen as naГЇve and foolish. Nevertheless, superstition was a major part in Roman life and thus William Shakespeare uses superstition and the supernatural in his play Julius Caesar. Superstition and the supernatural held great importance in the time of Caesar and often influenced the decisions people made. Superstition is defined as a belief or way of behaving that is based on fear of the unknown and faith in magic or luck. Supernatural is defined as things that cannot be explained according to natural laws. In Julius Caesar, many superstitious and supernatural... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Three examples are Calpurnia s dream, the soothsayer, and Brutus seeing Caesar s ghost. Calpurnia s dream foreshadows Caesar s death, which in turn furthers the plot. It also shows Calpurnia as a loving wife of Caesar and also develops Caesar s fatal flaw, flattery. The soothsayer again foreshadows Caesar s death, which again furthers the plot. The soothsayer also develops Caesar as arrogant and proud. Caesar choosing between superstitious events also shows and develops his arrogance. Finally, Brutus seeing Caesar s ghost is again another example of foreshadowing as the ghost predicts the death of Brutus, which again progresses the plot. The event also shows that Brutus is second guessing his decision of betraying Caesar. Superstition and the supernatural made Julius Caesar what it was, a play full of fateful decisions. Although Caesar was arrogant, that was what him such a great leader. Caesar was not afraid of the decisions he made and was not afraid of anyone or anything.
