Guerilla Warfare Essay
Guerrilla Warfare
The term guerrilla (Spanish, little war ) originated in the early 19th century during the Peninsular war
when, after the defeat of Spain s regular forces, Spanish irregulars and civilians rose up against the
French occupying forces. The practice of guerrilla warfare, however, dates from antiquity; for
example, the Bible tells of the Israelite conquest of Canaan, led by Joshua, involving harassment and
ambush of the enemy. Later Jewish resistance to foreign rule was expressed in the series of fierce
guerrilla operations against the Romans in the 1st century AD; led by the Zealot sect, this revolt was
climaxed by the seizure of Masada and the massacre of the Roman garrison there in AD66.

Guerrilla warfare has figured prominently in the history of North and South America, from the slave
revolts against the Portuguese and Dutch in Brazil in the 17th century to the ranger raids behind Union
lines led by the Confederate solider John Singleton Mosby during the American Civil War. In early
19th century Latin America, guerrilla actions such as those led by the South American patriot Simon
Bolivar and the Mexican revolutionary Miguel Hidalgo Costilla were instrumental in throwing off the
Spanish yoke.
In its most general sense, guerrilla tactics involves the combination of methods used to carry out any
action. Urban guerrillas wage guerrilla warfare and psychological warfare. There are five major
components to guerrilla tactics: a.The specific nature of the situation; b.Designing the action to meet
the specific nature of the situation; c.The objective; d.The type of action designed to meet the
objective; and, e.The method for carrying out that action.
Urban guerrilla tactics embody the following features: (this is how one man refers to guerilla warfare
in his country)a.They are aggressive and offensive in nature. Defense means death for us. Since our
firepower, resources, and manpower cannot match that of the enemy, we cannot defend ourselves
against an offensive or a coordinated attack made by the quot;guerrillas. quot; So our tactics must
vary, and can never be permanent, and that is

The Color Of Water By James Mcbride
The Color of Water, James McBride s autobiography and tribute to his mother, gives the reader a look
into his childhood and growing up biracial. James McBride was born to an African American father
and a Polish Jewish immigrant mother in 1957. While James was too young to fully grasp the civil
rights and black power events that took place in the 1960s, he recounts experiencing these events
vicariously through his older siblings. James McBride does a marvelous job at painting a vivid picture
for his readers in The Color of Water. Although McBride utilizes language and rhetorical devices to
alter meaning there are passages that require critical examination of language. A critical examination
of language contributes to our understanding of a literary text by deepening and expanding our
understanding of a work of literature. A critical analysis of The Color of Water will allow us to break
this piece of literature into parts and examine its components. In doing so, the reader can offer
alternative meanings about each part.
The first sentence of The Color of Water prepares the reader for what is to come. I m dead. You want
to talk about my family and here I been dead to them for fifty years. Leave me alone. Don t bother me.
From this sentence we can infer McBride s mother will be a vital part of this literature, however, the
reader will learn about the writer s mother as McBride attempts to figure his mother s life story
together. James truly wants to know about his mother s

Recidivism In American Prisons
Prisons are meant to securely hold convicts as well as those who are remanded. Such people are kept
in custody for certain duration of time. The nature of crime defines the length of time that that person
will serve in prison. For some crimes such as murder, an individual may be sentenced to death. As
such, prisons serve as confinement zones for those who have been determined to be wrong doers or
those who have been accused as such. This particular essay tends to investigate one thing that I would
like to rectify in the United States correctional system based on its current situation.
The American prisons system is a failed system. It needs tremendous change so that it can truly serve
its role in the American society. For instance, the high rate of recidivism is sufficient evidence that the
system has serious deficiencies. Emphasis ought to be made on the basic mission of these correctional
facilities because inmates must be educated, rehabilitated, and ensured of ... Show more content on

They act as confining zones for the accused and the convicted people. Perhaps this can be confirmed if
you ask the prison controllers of what their definition for success is. They will most likely define it in
terms of keeping security within these institutions so that those confined within them do not escape.
That is why America has prisons. Such places have a singular role of locking up people as though they
were birds in cages and results in dehumanizing them. Although prisons are used as an instrument for
justice, their primary functions have been changed to appear as though they just isolate people from
the public for a given number of calendar periods that may go for as long as one dies. Thus, you will
definitely find the prison administrators taking success to mean that they hold people in such
institutions until they serve the number of days that they are held in

The Identity Of Imperial Russia In The 19th Century
19th Century Russia Imperial Russia as an autocracy infers that the tsar and the imperial body is who
determines what Russia s identity is. The 19th century began under the leadership of Tsar Paul
followed by his successors. Each of them had different visions of what Russia would become. The
Russian people also had their own idea of what the Russian path was to be. Opposition and rebellion
would occur throughout the century eventually leading to a revolution. Russia during the 19th century
witnessed many historical events with varying causes; however, most can be viewed as an attempt to
discover the identity of what Russia was in respect to the rest of the world. Alexander I looked to take

The shift began with the Decembrist and the effect they had on Nicholas. Moss explained, At the very
beginning of his reign, he perceived the Decembrist revolt as reflecting Western ideas and his crushing
of it as a manifestation of loyalty to Russian ways (Moss, 356). The actions of the Decembrist
contributed to his official philosophy which was an attempt to answer the question of, who is Russia?
Nicholas I s Russian Path can be explained in three terms, orthodoxy, autocracy, and nationalism.
Nicholas implemented his official philosophy within the household, schools, churches and various
aspects of Russian life. He split the education system into different levels based on your loyalty to the
imperial system. He opposed radical religions and promoted orthodoxy as the true religion of Russia.
For the household, he developed the imperial imagery which was displaying how a Russian family
should be. Tsar Nicholas was shown as the perfect father figure of Russia. Nicholas s domestic
policies altered Russian society. Nicholas s discontent with western ideas and influence on society
were not favored by much of Russian society.
Nicholas s foreign affairs were also connected to his official philosophy. After the war with Napoleon,
Russia had become the constitutional monarch of Poland. After an attempted assassination of Grand
Duke Constantine, Nicholas alters the constitutional monarchy in

The Teachings Of Phaedrus And Alcibiades
Phaedrus, an aristocrat, takes the stage first at the symposium. He explains that Erōs is one of the
primordial gods, and that the love between a boy and a lover is the greatest love that exists. The lover
is meant to guide the boy, and the two must lead each other to examine themselves and feel ashamed.
...[The boy] is especially ashamed before his lover when he is caught in something shameful (Sym.
178E). Phaedrus later adds that ...Love is...the most powerful in helping men gain virtue and
blessedness... (Sym. 180B). Alcibiades is the perfect example of shame when he speaks about
Socrates. He says that Socrates is the only man in the world who has made [him] feel shame... (Sym.
216B). Alcibiades adds that Socrates traps him and tells ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alcibiades proves what Pausanias has said about Heavenly Love it s an attachment to the soul and
intelligence of a man, which Alcibiades feels toward Socrates. Eryximachus, a doctor, builds on
Pausanias speech. He says that Heavenly Love and those who feel it ...must be encouraged and
protected (Sym. 187D). Alcibiades encourages his own Heavenly Love for Socrates by praising
Socrates himself. He devotes his entire speech to the philosopher s image. There is not much else to
compare between Eryximachus and Alcibiades because Eryximachus simply adds to what Pausanias
has already stated. Aristophanes is a playwright who s eager to take a different approach to the origins
of erōs. He says that humans were once great beings with four arms, four legs, two faces and two sets
of sexual organs. There were male, female and androgynous beings, which were both male and
female. They became prideful and planned to ascend to the heavens and attack the gods. The gods
couldn t kill the humans because then no one would worship them. Zeus instead opts to cut the human
beings in two and asks Apollo to smooth out their edges. This decision created unforeseen
consequences. ...Each [human] longed for its own other half, and so they would throw themselves
together, wanting to grow together. In that condition they would die from hunger and general idleness,
because they

Charles Manson s The Night Of The Tate Labianca Murders
Charles Manson was one of the most well known murderers that didn t actually kill anyone, instead he
had people do it for him. Helter Skelter or other known as Charles Manson brainwashed people that
are part of his family into thinking they should kill innocent people just because he told them to. Part 1
of Helter Skelter was mainly about the people involved in his family that he had created, the
detectives that were in charge of the case, and the victims that were murdered and he briefly touches
on what happened the night of August 9th, 1969. The author talks about the night of the murders and
what exactly went on the night of the Tate LaBianca murders. He also goes into depth about some of
the people that were murdered at 10050 Cielo Drive, like Jay Sebring, who was a hairstylist and
Abigail Folger who was an heiress to the Folger coffee fortune, then he talks about Leno and
Rosemary LaBianca who were the owners and founders of Wholesale Grocery Company. Part 2 of the
book was focused a lot on the girls in the Manson family even though it was titled The Killers , it even
touched on the Hinman murder that had occurred before the Tate LaBianca murders. Susan Atkins,
aka Sadie Mae Glutz was a big part in this chapter/part because she gave the detectives a starting place
for the murders. They had taken Susan to the Sybil Brand Institute in Los Angeles, where she had a
roommate there and her name was Ronnie Howard. Susan told Ronnie everything about the murders ,

Your activity in social networks is very important for the search engine, especially in Google+ . If you

What Does Lewis Mean By The Law Of Human Nature
BOOK I. RIGHT AND WRONG AS A CLUE TO THE MEANING OF THE UNIVERSE
Explain what Lewis means by the Law of Nature or the Law of Human Nature. The Law of Human
Nature refers to the Law about Right and Wrong whereas the Law of Nature refers to the natural laws
which people recognize as basic things like gravity and/or the laws of chemistry.
When people are quarreling, to what are they appealing when they say, How d you like it if someone
did the same thing to you? (p. 3) They are appealing to some rule of decent behavior or morality.
When you hear a cry for help from someone in danger, you probably feel two desires. Explain these
desires. What is the third thing you feel and how does it help? One desire is to go and help them due to
our herd instinct, and the other is to stay out of that said danger due to our instinct of self preservation.
The last thing you feel is the impulse to help and not run away. Moral behavior may be a product of
instinct, but that doesn t follow that morality itself is just instinct. ... Show more content on

Why? What are the implications? One is measuring both moralities by a standard, saying that one of
them conforms to the standard more than the other.
Explain the difference between the Law of Human Nature and physical laws. Laws of human nature
are different than physical laws because the laws of human nature are dependant on an idea manifested
in them of how humans should and should not behave. Physical laws refer to things of this world; for

The television show, George Lopez, is a series in which Latinos make up the entire cast of the family.
It takes place in the present day Los Angeles and focuses on a family and their daily lifestyle. This is
one of two television shows that are directed to the English speaking population that has the Latino
minority as the main ethnicity of the cast.
Only 4% of Hispanics make up the cast of prime time television shows, a miniscule amount

Bake Sale showing that she was involved and the traditional image of an innocent girl baking. Also,
Carmen breaks up with her boyfriend at the time, Duncan, because he tried to pressure her into having

the watchers of the show a certain perception of the television show.

The George Lopez show is truly one of a kind. Only two sitcoms in the history of television have been

Pros And Cons Of Propaganda
Propaganda is not a recent idea or concept however since the creation of film propaganda has found its
way into them, especially documentary s. Documentary filmmaking is a platform and mode of
filmmaking associated with truth and actuality to present an overview of a topic or issue (Aufderheide,
2007). Audiences expect this when watching documentary films because generally the topic of a
documentary film is based on a real issue and/or event without the use with actors, sets and special
effects (with the exception of docudramas) (Nichols, 2010). Although they may be based on a real
world issue/event the filmmaker(s) behind the documentaries have an agenda and are trying to push
certain ideologies or points of view on the audience. However, the assumption is made that they are
doing this through fact and truth (Bizz). Propaganda on the other hand does not rely on truth or fact as
it is an idea of dishonestly. Propaganda never tries to persuade or inform instead it attempts to deceive
an audience by conveying/creating representations and ideas in a text that can only have one dominant
reading (Aufderheide, 2007). Propaganda filmmaking is usually created by governments and political
figures to impose hateful/nationalistic viewpoints and ideologies on the general populous
(Aufderheide, 2007). Triumph of the Will (Riefenstahl, 1935) and Prelude to War (Capra, 1943)
demonstrate that documentaries have the ability to create a false representation of history due to the

Baseball Is The Hardest Sport Essay
Baseball is the Hardest Sport
All sports in some ways are difficult. No two sports are exactly the same with the same struggles.
Playing baseball is the most difficult due to the physical and mental challenges that are performed by
the athletes. Baseball is not a sport that any athlete can just pick up and play.
Professional baseball players have a season with 162 games before post season. Baseball players aren
t the biggest, the strongest, or the fastest. A baseball player can be any size and that is what makes the
game so special. Anyone can be a baseball player if they put in the work to do so. However, baseball

Not only do players think while on defense, but also, they are thinking while batting. A player may be
batting in certain situations where they know they need to hit the ball to a certain place or get a bunt
down at a certain place. Again, this is all happening before they step into the box and react physically
to the pitch being thrown. Baseball is a very hard game physically and when players are struggling it
is very hard to stay positive mentally. It is hard to get enough to hit and when things are going bad our
mind becomes evil. This is where baseball players develop to be mentally tough. Baseball is so hard
that if you go 3 out of 10 you are considered one of the greats. In basketball, if a player shoots 3 out of
10 from the free throw line they re going to be terrible. This lone statistic right here shows how much
failure is in the game of baseball and how hard it is. It is extremely hard for athletes to stay positive in
these slumps they may experience when they aren t getting any hits. Another mental aspect of baseball
is the fears players must overcome to be successful.
The fear of trying to hit a baseball is real. Standing approximately 65 feet away from someone who is
throwing a small ball, that feels like a rock, 95 miles per hour is scary. Not only is this ball coming in
very fast, but this ball can kill

The Theory Of Moral Behavior
The statement claims that no question can ever be neutral. This means that all questions are leading
questions, that we always have a notion of the knowledge we find. The definition of neutral in the

detached and impersonal to situations, questions or judgements. Mathematics, as an area of knowledge
is said to be a subject that already exists in the natural world, only that we discover its marvellous

When I ask someone a question, I as the inquirer, will usually expect a certain type of answer, or there
will be a particular type or model of answer expected for that question. For queries, question or any

accepted the majority rules! An inquirer tends to have a bias towards his or her questions. Logic and
rational thinking are involved before the answer is given. Even the essay I am writing right now has

Like many team sports, a successful AFL team requires players with differing physical attributes to
contribute effectively to the team. Therefore, it is extremely important to choose players with the
appropriate characteristics, fitness components and energy systems for their particular role. The
position that is best suited to me is the midfield as players in this position must have strong agility,
speed and aerobic capacity . It is evident from a range of fitness tests that I display these qualities to a

Given the demands of the position, without aerobic fitness a midfielder would be physically unable to

Midfielders must display efficient aerobic fitness as they need to provide support to both the defence
and attack, constantly moving up and down the field. This is extremely tiring, especially when the
midfield needs to help in defence and then is quite hastily required to push hard forward with the ball.
(O Keefe, 2013) According to an article on catapult sports, midfielders cover the greatest total
distance, averaging 17km per game. This is when it is important for a midfielder s aerobic system to
be efficient . The most common method of measuring aerobic capacity is the beep test. After

Sure Thing David Ives Analysis
Language is the way people communicate. A person s choice of words, tone, and even body language
all make up his or her language. Language is incredibly important, especially during a first encounter.
It is said that language limits thought and thought is dependent upon language. When two people first
meet, it is their language that helps both people to form their own opinions of each other and can make
or break the bond between these two people. There are many works of literature that show the
importance of language as a major literary theme. One of these works is Sure Thing by David Ives.
This play emphasizes the significance of language in a light hearted, humorous account of two
strangers that meet in a local café and begin to talk to each other in the hopes of obtaining a date. In
Sure Thing, Ives uses many literary techniques to portray the value of language as a main theme
within his play, including minimalism, symbolism, and repetition. In Sure Thing, Ives minimalistic
approach to the setting is crucial to the development of the characters and the play. Not only are there

The Sucess of the German Company SAPAG and Enterprise...
Introduction According to Leimbach (2008), the success of the German company, SAP AG, leads to its
enterprise creating software called Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP / SAP ERP) that equips a
company with an integrated solution combining the essential business functions of the company itself.
The purpose of this report is to analyse the application of System Analysis and Program Development
hence, known as SAP / SAP s ERP systems in business organisations, investigate the challenges and
benefits within the SAP s ERP systems environment, also provide which application suits the SAP s
ERP systems. This report will focus on three main scopes, which are the overview, the challenges, and
benefits and recommendation for SAP s ERP systems application.
Overview of SAP s ERP Systems One of the systems SAP created is the ERP system, which has been
mentioned in the introduction as Enhancing Resource Planning. Most of the business organisations are
using ERP systems, however, little is known about ERP systems origins and its improvement to
become one of the most important segments within the software market (Leimbach, 2008). Soliman
and Youssef (1998) stated that ERP systems have assisted the progress of a process oriented approach
to a system development, as its database can be taken parts by several functions of particular
functional units within the same business, and also built around the business development in order to
enable cross functional units. Therefore, ERP

The Pros And Cons Of Interest Rates In Banking
To begin, banks are a place to deposit money. Most people think of banks like a safe storage locker. If
a person deposits their paycheck into a bank they have the guarantee of their money being there next
time they check their account, that is if they choose to not spend it. Without banks, consumers would
be forced to hide their money in their homes and under mattresses. That is just impractical and poses
many major risks. Banks are a much safer alternative. Banks also offer interest rates. Interest rates
help consumers not lose money while it sits in the bank. Interest rates fight inflation. According to
Tejvan Pettinger, for current accounts, interest rates could be very low, but for a savings account, the
interest rate could be significant (Pettinger). Generally, this is because savings accounts hold more
money than a checking account. An important factor in banking is interest rates and with interest rates
comes inflation. According to Jean Folger, Inflation refers to the rate at which prices for goods and
services rises. In the United States, interest rates are determined by the Federal Reserve (Folger).
Inflation and interest rates are inversely related to banking. This means if interest rates are low,
inflation will rise. This is because while interest rates are low people will be more likely to borrow
money and this results in the people spending more money causing the economy to expand. When the
economy grows inflation rises. If interest rates are higher this

My People The Sioux And The Lives Of Native Americans Essay
Luther Standing Bear s account of his life growing up as a Sioux Native American amidst a nation
flourishing with change is a powerful and poignant narrative that draws us deeper into the history of
The United States. My People the Sioux and the life of Luther Standing Bear are both crucial in
examining the positive connotations of Indian Boarding Schools and the use of education to challenge
the inferiority complex surrounding Native Americans. Luther Standing Bear was born in December
of 1868 and this autobiography was completed on July 25, 1927. Encompassing the end of
reconstruction, the industrial revolution, and the start of the Indian Boarding schools, Standing Bear s
life provides a deep context into the lives of Native Americans. His entire purpose for writing this
autobiography is to provide an account of the Native Americans, from the actual viewpoint of Native
Americans, which previously to his account, were few and far between. This autobiography was
intended, at the time, for whites who did not know about the lives of Native Americans and for all
people who saw Native Americans as inferior. Today it lives on to serve as a historical reference for
what Native Americans endured and how they lived during this time period rich in history. The
traditional views of Native Americans during this time were that they were lazy and inferior to whites.
Towards the end of his life, Standing Bear would become involved in the Native American Rights
movement, but this book

Best Buy Case Study Essay
BEST BUY In 1966, Richard Shulze opened a small business in St. Paul, Minnesota called Sound of
Music. In the next 17 years Shulze s small store rapidly grew into a multi million dollar outfit. In
1983, Sound of Music changed its name to Best Buy Co., Inc and the first superstore was opened in
Burnsville, Minnesota. With the new name the store also began carrying more name brands,
appliances, VCRs and offering central service and warehouse distribution. Throughout the nineties
Best Buy became pioneers in offering the newest technology such as DVDs and high definition TVs.
In 1999, Best Buy and Microsoft combined to cross promote each other and also offered a two for one

Implementation of New Vision It makes sense for Best Buy to worry more about Wal Mart, which is
getting more involved in electronics retailing, and less about Circuit City. The competitors are a
diverse lot today, and for them to continue to grow they re going to have to get much better at
everything they do and define themselves in clear ways. Best Buy s plan is to revamp its stores
according to the types of customers they serve. A strategy previously mentioned, customer centricity,
focuses on targeting five prototypical customers, all of whom have been given names: Jill, a busy
suburban mom; Buzz, a focused, active younger male; Ray, a family man who likes his technology
practical; BB4B (short for Best Buy for Business), a small professional employer; and Barry, an
affluent professional male who s likely to drop tens of thousands of dollars on a home theater system.
Their most current focus is on a Jill based store, the soccer mom who has money to spend but
typically hasn t a clue of where or how to find products in the store. According to the data Best Buy
has collected, Jill shops a few times a year, usually twice at an electronics store, but she usually
spends a significant amount. The Santa Rosa Best Buy, Store #120, is a Jill store. Here is an example
of how they cater to their particular target market. Pink, red and white balloons decorate the entrance.

The Skills And Problem Solving Skills
Occupations
After taking the O*NET Interest Profiler test on the My Next Move website, I was fitted for several
jobs based on my personality and interests. After looking through the suggested jobs, I found two that
would fit me best. The first job I was interested in is a buying and purchasing agent for farm products.
Out of all the suggestions O*NET gave, this was one I felt not only fit my skills the most, but also my
personality.
The knowledge required for this position is mostly math and customer serviced based. Every job I
have had has been customer service based and I am not only good at math, but I actually enjoy it. This
position seems like it would be a great fit for me. The education required is a bachelor s degree, which
I don t currently have, but I am working towards it. The skills required were social skills and problem
solving skills. Since I have been in so many customer service positions, I am great at communication.
Although I am not the best problem solver, I am a quick learner and feel I would be able to pick up
that skill with practice.
When looking at the job outlook for the buying and purchasing agent position, the future looked grim.
The national outlook was below average in most states. When looking at the map, however, there were
a few states that had a bright outlook with above average opportunities. Although my state, California,
had average opportunity, just above me in Oregon there was above average job opportunities. Two
other states that

Osiris
Osiris is an Egyptian God. He is the son of the sky goddess Nut and the earth God Geb. Through the
Egyptian history Osiris has been given different names because he is able to change his presence. He
is the god of the underworld, god of the afterlife, god of transition, resurrection, and regeneration.
After death Egyptians believed that their soul will be judge in front of the Ambush and Osiris. Where
they will weight their soul against a feather and depending on the weight the gods were able to come
to decisions. Like many other Gods of Egypt Osiris is represented as a pharaohs that is wearing a

Osiris is represented as wearing a plumed crown, holding a crook and flail. Which shows his kingship
and ruler of the underworld. He is also represented as having a green skin deity with a pharaoh s
beard. The name Osiris translate to as powerful or mighty. This is powerful because he is the god that

Prison Reform And The Prison System
Prison reform is a significant issue that the United States government should enforce. It would aid in
creating a more organized system of incarceration. Prison reform is an attempt to improve, change, or
eliminate certain conditions in prisons. It is believed that it should be enforced due to the cases of
overcrowding, lack of proper education, and the lack of rehabilitation that could inform prisoners of
societal values. Prison reform would increase the self esteem that was diminished in the prisoner s
personal history. Prison reform is significantly important as it will heighten the amount of self worth
in the prisoner and cause a decrease in the population of prisoners who return to a life of crime.
Recidivism, or chance of recommitting a crime, will therefore be reduced. Prisoner who are released
will not have all the negative ideals or influence from the prison that is usually spread until their
release. Prison reform will help society if the increase in education and decrease in overcrowding is
ensued upon the prison system with this policy.
As prisoners are considered a disparaged minority, the impact of the correctional facility structure on
society is huge. It s clear that the correctional facility system is an impression of our control of law,
yet it in like manner really impacts the communities that prisoners are removed from and where they
go back to. Regardless that prisoners are a disdained minority, the impact of the correctional facility

Lee Harvey Oswald Chapter 1 Rhetorical Analysis
In this short passage about the fictional youth of Lee Harvey Oswald, the man who assassinated John
F. Kennedy, we are given a snapshot of Oswald s everyday life as a seventh grader. The setting is the
Bronx, New York, at a time before technology and immigration were prevalent in our everyday lives.
In the passage, the author skillfully portrays young Oswald as an introverted and edgy individual
though the use of imagery, diction and point of view. Through vivid descriptions of his everyday
happenings as well as the people involved, we get insight into Oswald s personality. As an adolescent,
Oswald has his desires just like any other male his age, as he observes the Jewish girls, Italian girls in

With the choice of three other types of point of views to write in, the choice of third person limited
omniscient is an excellent choice in terms of narrative. Instead of getting a biased look through the
lens of Oswald or his peers, the objectivity of the third person point of view gives a more objective
study on Oswald s character. By being presented a brief third person overview describing the actions
of the surrounding characters, the reader comes to the conclusion that the Bronx is a place filled with
the stereotypical type of New York inhabitants it is known for harboring. Likewise, we also see that
Oswald is a somewhat normal child who has his own problems and quirks until we are introduced to
his personal obsessions. Instead of getting a glimpse of his inner thoughts, his feelings are instead
revealed during his fun time. Humans can feel the same way, but rarely ever think the same way. So
with the audience being able to relate to the feeling of thrill (48) but not the action of being on the
edge (46 47), the audience themselves come to the conclusion that Oswald is an odd individual. This
contributes to the objectivity of the author s character study due to the fact that the author doesn t take
the easy way and spell everything out for the audience by using first person view, but instead decides
to use third person

Why Race And Ethnicity Have An Effect On Political...
People hate to be isolated. Sadly, people are the ones who actually initiates isolation. In some way, we
are harming each other. World is becoming a very horrible place; intelligent people are shunned,
education is shot, ignorance is rewarded and police are corrupt. We can t live with each other when a
race is isolated. A person who is different in community by his or her skin color is classified as an
outcast. Outcasts have no right speak up. That is why I think race and ethnicity have an effect on
political participation. Although lately there are some improvements, that didn t have a big impact on
people.
Considering a variety of political acts, we find that, in the aggregate, African Americans are slightly,

People do not care about what is right, they care about what is popular and the only way to get over
this pointless view; humanity should improve as in one group. Bottom line is that political
participation may seem approachable, but the people who have the guts to talk to millions should be
awarded not shunned just because they are different.
Political participation is valid; however, we still see many problems. For instance, voter identification
requirements have a substantially negative impact on the voting power of several voting groups.
People who belong to a group which is the minority, face with some problems. They are inhibited by
the majority to keep the constant rate of vote in order to reach to success. In other words, they are
excluded from the society. There may be people who are aware of this situation but for those who aren
t should know that Texas Republicans have a reason to stop minority voting. Ginsburg noted the
motive behind the tougher ID law, which is that the state s ruling class of mostly white Republicans is
less and less representative of the state s population as a whole. In light of the seismic demographic
shift in Texas between 2000 and 2010, making Texas a majority minority state, the District Court
observed that the Texas Legislature and Governor had an evident incentive to gain partisan advantage
by suppressing the votes of African Americans and Latinos. From this information another ugly side
of humanity can be seen.

What are eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells?
Organelles in Eukaryotic Cells
The Nucleus.
Nearly all animal cells have a nucleus, with the only exception being the red blood cell. The nucleus
has two major functions, which are housing the DNA and controlling the cell s activities. In the centre
of the nucleus is the nucleolus. This doesn t have a membrane, but holds itself together. In the
nucleolus, ribosomes are created through the mixture of RNA and proteins. These proteins are
originally found in the cytoplasm, outside the nucleus, but they travel through the pores in the nuclear
envelope, through the chromatin and into the nucleolus. The structure of the nucleolus allows easy ...

The body has two faces, the cis face which fuses with incoming transport vesicles, and the trans face
which excretes the secretory vesicles. The cis face fuses with vesicles coming from the ER effectively
from many directions due to its convex shape, whereas the concave trans face can direct the secretory
vesicles to their destination. When fusing with the cis face, the transport vesicles release their proteins
to be absorbed for modification. Each cisternal layer of the Golgi body holds different enzymes which
each modify the passing proteins in separate ways. Between the layers the proteins are moved through
the gaps by small vesicles. When a protein has been modified correctly, it leaves the Golgi body via
secretory vesicles which then carry the modified proteins to the cell membrane or another organelle.
The proteins that are transported to the cell membrane are either excreted from the cell, or absorbed
into the membrane to aid with its function. Some of the secretory vesicles which hold hydrolytic
enzymes stay within the cytoplasm and function as lysosomes.
Lysosomes.
Lysosomes are specialized vesicles that are created by the Golgi body. Their role is to digest any worn

With the development of the stock markets and the huge grow in the volume of money traded in them,

We already mentioned that earning management happens in the world and is very common practice
nowadays, not only in big worldwide corporations, but also in not so big national companies looking
for high accounting numbers, that will help them reach additional bank loans easily. But, is the earning
management policy practiced by the firms, affects the stock prices and investors decisions. The
investment or in other words speculation decisions most of the times depend on expectations of the
future movement of the specific stock. In other words, the majority of non professional investors or
speculators decide to buy or sell a certain stock on basis on their expectation rather than what is stated
in most of books, what they are ready to pay for it, based on their sophisticated analysis .
For example, if investors see that a company X has reported a 20% growth this year, or became
number one in a specific sector, then the investors presentiment became bullish, creating a good
environment for a significant growth due to speculators expectation.
For example let us take the case of Enron one of the biggest US companies in early 2000 s. Enron was
leading company in electricity, communication, pulp, paper and natural gas sphere. In 2000 Enron
Corporation reported nearly $101 billion.

that had been buried. The want to be rich is what provoked Tom to settle this deal. In doing so, he cost
many people all of their money. Tom conned people and left them in despair, and he sold his soul so
he can be a rich and mighty man. He had been fooled by the evil of money. Therefore, he will pay for
his choices and the actions he committed. Towards the end of this story, Tom begins fearing for his
life, afraid that the devil was going to collect his soul at any moment. He aimed to become religious,
in hopes that will prevent the devil from coming. However, he did not succeed and was taken away by
the devil. The theme Washington Irving was conveying is that money is not worth your life. You can
be happy and poor, and rich and miserable. If Tom Walker understood that, he would have led a life
without the devil on his shoulder and without the fear of the devil coming to collect

communication breakdowns. Frustrated, I decided to isolate these parts of speech that were giving me

The part of Chinese I chose to examine for this paper is the perfective aspect (PRV) le particle. I will

Because most of the descriptions and explanations of this particle seem to be based mainly on the

Self Identity In Renaissance Plays
Self identity is a prominent notion in many Renaissance plays. Most of these plays are concerned with
deceit and change of identity. Oftentimes, the devious characters are the ones who show a part of
themselves at a certain point in the play and as the story progresses they unveil a different side of
them. In most of the Renaissance dramas that were discussed, almost all the plays have at least one
character with questionable identity. This notion of identity is one of the most important themes in
Thomas Middleton and William Rowley s The Changeling. Fluid identity is seen in characters such as
Beatrice; however, De Florez s identity is more ambiguous and should be analyzed differently. When a

he portrays a secure character that sees the two brothers for what they truly are. Bosola describes them
as plum trees that grow crooked over standing pools (1.1.49 50). Bosola s description leads the reader
to think of him as someone with a strong character who will not be pushed around and dominated by
the brothers who seem to be in control of every other character s lives. Bosola s moral security is

My Experience At The Coast Guard
One of my first experiences in the Coast Guard was a question that went out to the whole company,
Why do you want to be in the Coast Guard? Naturally my response was that I wanted to help people.
Little did I know at the time, that as I progressed through my career, so too would the focus of my
desire to help shift to the people placed under my charge. Starting out I didn t place much thought into
leadership. Luckily, I have had the privilege to serve with several people that have demonstrated
exceptional leadership throughout my career. Jeff Dorwart, John Lorentz, Marvin Wells, etc., the list
goes on. All of whom have imparted some of their leadership wisdom upon me, either through
demonstration or conversation. Leadership to me is the ability to influence others in the pursuit of a
shared vision or goal, regardless of whether it is yours or one you yourself have been influenced to
follow.
2. For some of my leadership mentors, they modeled the way by their actions and personal
interactions. Marvin Wells always maintained an outstanding uniform. He usually had a smile on his
face and presented himself as a very approachable individual. In fact, even when I was getting
corrected , it didn t feel like an ass chewing, rather a course correction that I ended up being harder on
myself than what he was. Jeff Dorwart and John Lorentz were both big picture thinkers. They would
shamelessly share the big picture, direction and desired end result with all. This created buy in and

The Paralysis of Prufrock in The Love Song of J. Alfred...
Paralysis, the incapability to act, has been a key element of many famous literary characters.
Shakespeare s Hamlet is the paragon of paralysis, unable to sort through his thoughts, Hamlet only
makes one decisive action, at the end of the play. T.S Elliot s transfers Hamlets paralysis in his poem
The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. The name Elliot chose for this indecisive, timid man epitomizes
his character as well as his flaws. J. Alfred Prufrock needs this ranting monologue in order for him to
understand the severity of his paralysis and fear of women and society. Elliot s poetry is a melting pot
of literary allusions and references. The first lines are directly quoted from Dante s Inferno. Prufrock,
as can be interpreted from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the next stanza, Prufrock tells himself repeatedly that indeed there will be time. This repetition is
used in order to display Prufrock re assuring himself that he does not need to meet the women in the
room just yet, there will be time for himself and the woman he loves to meet and talk. Prufrock
believes that there is enough time for his hundred of indecisions and revisions before the taking of a
toast and tea.
Not only does Prufrock seem to be afraid of confronting woman talking of Michelangelo, he seems
intimidated by the social settings he must engage in. There will be time, there will be time, To prepare
a face to meet the faces that you meet, There will be time to murder and create, And time for all the
works and days of hands That lift and drop a question on your plate (26 29)
Prufrock s social anxiety results in his worrying how others see him. He thinks about women s arms
and perfume, but does not know how to act. He admits he is ultimately afraid (line 86) of engaging in
social activities. Elliot reveals the height of Prufrock s paralysis by scrutinizing the absurdity of
Prufrock s concerns: Should I, after tea and cakes and ices, / Have the strength to force the moment to
its crisis? In the next few stanzas, Prufrock describes himself balding, middle aged, and plain in order
to draw in the reader to the point of view of the society. As detailed as Prufrock scrutinizes his
physical appearance, he feels the

Examples Of Naturalism In The Call Of The Wild
Naturalism, expressed through the submission of living beings to nature in the novella, shows the
dominant power of heredity and the social environment against a creature s will, a major concept in
the 19th century realism movement. Buck, the protagonist that metamorphosed from a companion to a
pack dog serves as a metaphor for the impermanence of previous discipline. Also, the violent mood
provoked by Buck s brutal instinctive behavior towards Spitz and other characters in the novel
represents the power of the social and physical environment even against centuries of evolution and
domestication. In the novel, Buck is a domestic dog who is stolen and shipped north during the
Klondike Gold Rush to drag sleds for the prospectors heading to and from Dawson. He stands for one
of the many dogs that were turned into machines for the benefit of humans. He was taught to obey the
club and man and was severely punished by the man for failing to do so Buck s introduction to
primitive law. (16) On page 19, the narrator states He had been suddenly jerked from the heart of
civilization and flung into the heart of things primordial. Buck had to throw away his expectations of
peace and comfort and obey the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He killed Spitz to be the lead dog, (18) an action he probably would not have taken as a dignified dog
in Judge Miller s house. His newly gained ferocity came from his new social desire to be the lead dog
of the sled, possibly to regain his pride lost after he was tied up and choked on the ship to Dyea Beach.
(14) He later learns how to howl and interact with the wolf pack around him as well. The sharp
contrast between the two environments, the arctic and California also resulted in a distinct difference
between his his mannerisms. His desire to be a refined and dignified dog became unrealistic, and

Gun Violence in Missouri
Missouri is an amazing state, full of interesting sights and sounds. There is the towering, metal Saint
Louis Arch. The massive and beautiful Union Station. The large wheat fields, the long flowing
Missouri river, and the large, beautiful Ozarks forests. Missouri, even after these things, like any
states, is not perfect. Unlike some states however, Missouri has many flaws that can very easily be
fixed, but the problem is that Missouri government is not doing much to stop it, one of the biggest
problems being gun control. We are losing so many lives in major shootings at schools. The part that
makes me mad is that after mourning the loss for a bit, we move on, forgetting the tragedy left behind.
Missouri is not being very strict about these gun laws, and it is hurting us in the social look from other
states, and making us seem like a state that doesn t care. We need to take control of these gun laws to
make Missouri a safer place. To begin, Missouri is one of the worst states for gun control laws. The
Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence gave Missouri an F for gun violence, and out of all the states
Missouri ranked 39th out of 50 having enacted few gun violence prevention laws. ( Missouri State
Law Summary. ) The thing is, that Missouri HAS disallowed the permit to purchase, the registration,
and the licensing to owners of all guns. The problem is, is that even though you are not allowed to
carry a rifle or shotgun around, you can carry a handgun around, which is what has

  • 2. Guerilla Warfare Essay Guerrilla Warfare The term guerrilla (Spanish, little war ) originated in the early 19th century during the Peninsular war when, after the defeat of Spain s regular forces, Spanish irregulars and civilians rose up against the French occupying forces. The practice of guerrilla warfare, however, dates from antiquity; for example, the Bible tells of the Israelite conquest of Canaan, led by Joshua, involving harassment and ambush of the enemy. Later Jewish resistance to foreign rule was expressed in the series of fierce guerrilla operations against the Romans in the 1st century AD; led by the Zealot sect, this revolt was climaxed by the seizure of Masada and the massacre of the Roman garrison there in AD66. Guerrilla warfare has figured prominently in the history of North and South America, from the slave revolts against the Portuguese and Dutch in Brazil in the 17th century to the ranger raids behind Union lines led by the Confederate solider John Singleton Mosby during the American Civil War. In early 19th century Latin America, guerrilla actions such as those led by the South American patriot Simon Bolivar and the Mexican revolutionary Miguel Hidalgo Costilla were instrumental in throwing off the Spanish yoke. In its most general sense, guerrilla tactics involves the combination of methods used to carry out any action. Urban guerrillas wage guerrilla warfare and psychological warfare. There are five major components to guerrilla tactics: a.The specific nature of the situation; b.Designing the action to meet the specific nature of the situation; c.The objective; d.The type of action designed to meet the objective; and, e.The method for carrying out that action. Urban guerrilla tactics embody the following features: (this is how one man refers to guerilla warfare in his country)a.They are aggressive and offensive in nature. Defense means death for us. Since our firepower, resources, and manpower cannot match that of the enemy, we cannot defend ourselves against an offensive or a coordinated attack made by the quot;guerrillas. quot; So our tactics must vary, and can never be permanent, and that is ... • 3. The Color Of Water By James Mcbride The Color of Water, James McBride s autobiography and tribute to his mother, gives the reader a look into his childhood and growing up biracial. James McBride was born to an African American father and a Polish Jewish immigrant mother in 1957. While James was too young to fully grasp the civil rights and black power events that took place in the 1960s, he recounts experiencing these events vicariously through his older siblings. James McBride does a marvelous job at painting a vivid picture for his readers in The Color of Water. Although McBride utilizes language and rhetorical devices to alter meaning there are passages that require critical examination of language. A critical examination of language contributes to our understanding of a literary text by deepening and expanding our understanding of a work of literature. A critical analysis of The Color of Water will allow us to break this piece of literature into parts and examine its components. In doing so, the reader can offer alternative meanings about each part. The first sentence of The Color of Water prepares the reader for what is to come. I m dead. You want to talk about my family and here I been dead to them for fifty years. Leave me alone. Don t bother me. From this sentence we can infer McBride s mother will be a vital part of this literature, however, the reader will learn about the writer s mother as McBride attempts to figure his mother s life story together. The nature of crime defines the length of time that that person will serve in prison. For some crimes such as murder, an individual may be sentenced to death. As such, prisons serve as confinement zones for those who have been determined to be wrong doers or those who have been accused as such. This particular essay tends to investigate one thing that I would like to rectify in the United States correctional system based on its current situation. The American prisons system is a failed system. It needs tremendous change so that it can truly serve its role in the American society. They will most likely define it in terms of keeping security within these institutions so that those confined within them do not escape. That is why America has prisons. Such places have a singular role of locking up people as though they were birds in cages and results in dehumanizing them. Although prisons are used as an instrument for justice, their primary functions have been changed to appear as though they just isolate people from the public for a given number of calendar periods that may go for as long as one dies. • 11. What Does Lewis Mean By The Law Of Human Nature BOOK I. RIGHT AND WRONG AS A CLUE TO THE MEANING OF THE UNIVERSE Explain what Lewis means by the Law of Nature or the Law of Human Nature. The Law of Human Nature refers to the Law about Right and Wrong whereas the Law of Nature refers to the natural laws which people recognize as basic things like gravity and/or the laws of chemistry. When people are quarreling, to what are they appealing when they say, How d you like it if someone did the same thing to you? (p. 3) They are appealing to some rule of decent behavior or morality. When you hear a cry for help from someone in danger, you probably feel two desires. Explain these desires. What is the third thing you feel and how does it help? One desire is to go and help them due to our herd instinct, and the other is to stay out of that said danger due to our instinct of self preservation. • 13. Pros And Cons Of Propaganda Propaganda is not a recent idea or concept however since the creation of film propaganda has found its way into them, especially documentary s. Documentary filmmaking is a platform and mode of filmmaking associated with truth and actuality to present an overview of a topic or issue (Aufderheide, 2007). Audiences expect this when watching documentary films because generally the topic of a documentary film is based on a real issue and/or event without the use with actors, sets and special effects (with the exception of docudramas) (Nichols, 2010). Although they may be based on a real world issue/event the filmmaker(s) behind the documentaries have an agenda and are trying to push certain ideologies or points of view on the audience. However, the assumption is made that they are doing this through fact and truth (Bizz). Propaganda on the other hand does not rely on truth or fact as it is an idea of dishonestly. Propaganda never tries to persuade or inform instead it attempts to deceive an audience by conveying/creating representations and ideas in a text that can only have one dominant reading (Aufderheide, 2007). Propaganda filmmaking is usually created by governments and political figures to impose hateful/nationalistic viewpoints and ideologies on the general populous (Aufderheide, 2007). • 22. The Pros And Cons Of Interest Rates In Banking To begin, banks are a place to deposit money. Most people think of banks like a safe storage locker. If a person deposits their paycheck into a bank they have the guarantee of their money being there next time they check their account, that is if they choose to not spend it. Without banks, consumers would be forced to hide their money in their homes and under mattresses. That is just impractical and poses many major risks. Banks are a much safer alternative. Banks also offer interest rates. Interest rates help consumers not lose money while it sits in the bank. Interest rates fight inflation. According to Tejvan Pettinger, for current accounts, interest rates could be very low, but for a savings account, the interest rate could be significant (Pettinger). Generally, this is because savings accounts hold more money than a checking account. An important factor in banking is interest rates and with interest rates comes inflation. According to Jean Folger, Inflation refers to the rate at which prices for goods and services rises. In the United States, interest rates are determined by the Federal Reserve (Folger). Inflation and interest rates are inversely related to banking. This means if interest rates are low, inflation will rise. This is because while interest rates are low people will be more likely to borrow money and this results in the people spending more money causing the economy to expand. When the economy grows inflation rises. If interest rates are higher this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After looking through the suggested jobs, I found two that would fit me best. The first job I was interested in is a buying and purchasing agent for farm products. Out of all the suggestions O*NET gave, this was one I felt not only fit my skills the most, but also my personality. The knowledge required for this position is mostly math and customer serviced based. Every job I have had has been customer service based and I am not only good at math, but I actually enjoy it. This position seems like it would be a great fit for me. The education required is a bachelor s degree, which I don t currently have, but I am working towards it. The skills required were social skills and problem solving skills. Since I have been in so many customer service positions, I am great at communication. Although I am not the best problem solver, I am a quick learner and feel I would be able to pick up that skill with practice. When looking at the job outlook for the buying and purchasing agent position, the future looked grim. The national outlook was below average in most states. • 28. Prison Reform And The Prison System Prison reform is a significant issue that the United States government should enforce. It would aid in creating a more organized system of incarceration. Prison reform is an attempt to improve, change, or eliminate certain conditions in prisons. It is believed that it should be enforced due to the cases of overcrowding, lack of proper education, and the lack of rehabilitation that could inform prisoners of societal values. Prison reform would increase the self esteem that was diminished in the prisoner s personal history. Prison reform is significantly important as it will heighten the amount of self worth in the prisoner and cause a decrease in the population of prisoners who return to a life of crime. Recidivism, or chance of recommitting a crime, will therefore be reduced. Prisoner who are released will not have all the negative ideals or influence from the prison that is usually spread until their release. Prison reform will help society if the increase in education and decrease in overcrowding is ensued upon the prison system with this policy. As prisoners are considered a disparaged minority, the impact of the correctional facility structure on society is huge. Instead of getting a biased look through the lens of Oswald or his peers, the objectivity of the third person point of view gives a more objective study on Oswald s character. By being presented a brief third person overview describing the actions of the surrounding characters, the reader comes to the conclusion that the Bronx is a place filled with the stereotypical type of New York inhabitants it is known for harboring. Likewise, we also see that Oswald is a somewhat normal child who has his own problems and quirks until we are introduced to his personal obsessions. Bottom line is that political participation may seem approachable, but the people who have the guts to talk to millions should be awarded not shunned just because they are different. Political participation is valid; however, we still see many problems. For instance, voter identification requirements have a substantially negative impact on the voting power of several voting groups. People who belong to a group which is the minority, face with some problems. They are inhibited by the majority to keep the constant rate of vote in order to reach to success. In other words, they are excluded from the society. There may be people who are aware of this situation but for those who aren t should know that Texas Republicans have a reason to stop minority voting. Ginsburg noted the motive behind the tougher ID law, which is that the state s ruling class of mostly white Republicans is less and less representative of the state s population as a whole. In light of the seismic demographic shift in Texas between 2000 and 2010, making Texas a majority minority state, the District Court observed that the Texas Legislature and Governor had an evident incentive to gain partisan advantage by suppressing the votes of African Americans and Latinos. When fusing with the cis face, the transport vesicles release their proteins to be absorbed for modification. Each cisternal layer of the Golgi body holds different enzymes which each modify the passing proteins in separate ways. Between the layers the proteins are moved through the gaps by small vesicles. • 43. Examples Of Naturalism In The Call Of The Wild Naturalism, expressed through the submission of living beings to nature in the novella, shows the dominant power of heredity and the social environment against a creature s will, a major concept in the 19th century realism movement. Buck, the protagonist that metamorphosed from a companion to a pack dog serves as a metaphor for the impermanence of previous discipline. Also, the violent mood provoked by Buck s brutal instinctive behavior towards Spitz and other characters in the novel represents the power of the social and physical environment even against centuries of evolution and domestication. In the novel, Buck is a domestic dog who is stolen and shipped north during the Klondike Gold Rush to drag sleds for the prospectors heading to and from Dawson. The large wheat fields, the long flowing Missouri river, and the large, beautiful Ozarks forests. Missouri, even after these things, like any states, is not perfect. Unlike some states however, Missouri has many flaws that can very easily be fixed, but the problem is that Missouri government is not doing much to stop it, one of the biggest problems being gun control. We are losing so many lives in major shootings at schools. The part that makes me mad is that after mourning the loss for a bit, we move on, forgetting the tragedy left behind. Missouri is not being very strict about these gun laws, and it is hurting us in the social look from other states, and making us seem like a state that doesn t care. We need to take control of these gun laws to make Missouri a safer place. To begin, Missouri is one of the worst states for gun control laws. The Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence gave Missouri an F for gun violence, and out of all the states Missouri ranked 39th out of 50 having enacted few gun violence prevention laws. ( Missouri State Law Summary. ) The thing is, that Missouri HAS disallowed the permit to purchase, the registration, and the licensing to owners of all guns. The problem is, is that even though you are not allowed to carry a rifle or shotgun around, you can carry a handgun around, which is what has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
