Praise Of Bill Peters, Coach Of The Carolina Hurricanes
In Praise of Bill Peters
Now firmly into his third season as a head coach in the NHL, Bill Peters, coach of the Carolina
Hurricanes, has a lot of work in front of him to get this team into post season contention. Through
his first two years with the organization, Peters is still yet to participate in the playoffs. In fact, it
has been seven years since Carolina last saw the playoffs.
Peters current lack of post season success shouldn t be an immediate point for concern, as he came
into the team during a major recession in terms of team talent. Most notably offensive stars
Alexander Semin and Eric Staal both had major drops in terms of point production during Peters
first two seasons, both see their way out of Carolina.
It appears though for this season the pieces are beginning to fall into place for Peters vision of this
team. Their level of play over the past few games has been as high as it has ever been in recent
years, as the team as a whole is able to play effectively in all ends.
This quick turnover time shouldn t come as a shock to anyone given Bill Peters outstanding
performances behind the bench for other teams.
Spokane Chiefs
Bill Peters first major coaching job came in Major Junior as an assistant coach for the Spokane
Chiefs of the WHL. The Three Hills native would serve there as an assistant under then head coach,
and current Toronto head coach Mike Babcockfrom 1996 2000, helping Spokane reach a 100 point
season and playoff final appearance in Babcock

Designing A Final Portfolio Mobile Application
This section of the design document will focus on the user experience, GUI design standards as
well as components that address mobile accessibility standards. The images below are design for
the mobile application specifically. The following designs will be different from the above
screens shots that reflect the desktop and tablet designs. For a portfolio website trying to get as
much qualification information about the subject is limited due to a search engine optimization to
restrain text to not scroll. Therefore, the information will have to be added after project is
finalized to become a final portfolio mobile application. Mrs. Schachinger refers there are pros and
cons of infinite scroll and mobile development. Time is changing very quickly along with
accessibilitystandards. The infinite scroll pro are not limited to ease of pagination, fast access,
less clicks and good for web explorers (Search Engine Watch, Feb 2015). If a site is developed for
goal oriented tasks, infinite scroll could hinder the development along with the following
drawbacks, memory issues, page speed, scrollbar issues and usability , are some examples of
possible issues with infinite scroll .
Lazy loading could help load mobile pages with abundance of content can be loaded while the
first page is still loading or mobile user was still reading current content. To concentrate on the
design layout to take this no scroll into effect makes for a harder mobile design, but easier for tablet

Modern and Contemporary Arts of Africa
Essay
Word count:
African art and the politics of identity in the twenty first century.
Identity is never an a priori, nor a finished product; it is only ever the problematic process of access
to an image of totality H. Bhahba (1994:50)
Introduction.
The second half of the twentieth century saw the liberation of the African continent from colonial
rule, a time that occasioned the rise of new pride in and new searches for definitions of identities
released from the colonial confines. In the twentieth century the politics of identity became salient
in discourses, political, social, and cultural, on Africa. The idea of the diaspora was central to new
conceptions on African art, often leading to the exclusion of artist residing in Africa in preference
of those living in the nomadic condition. The forefront of Africa in modernity was thus not seen as
residing in Africa itself but in those that found themselves in the realms of the hegemonic
modernity of the West. Nevertheless independence from colonial rule saw a surge in self defining
nationalisms based on an ideal form of African nation and identity. Ways of being and producing
African art were prescribed to artists, though this does not mean that individual agency was lost. As
Atkinson states on post Apartheid South Africa: it is clear that the stakes have shifted, and the
country s reintegration into international art , culture, and politics, has

Drifters Y Bruce Dawe Essay
Drifters by Bruce Dawe Donald Bruce Dawe was born in 1930 in Geelong, Victoria, Melbourne,
he is one of the most successful and prolific contemporary poets of Australia. He struggled with
his studies, leaving school when he was sixteen, working as a gardener and postman. In 1954 he
entered the University of Melbourne. He grew up in a household where his father, a farm
labourer, was often unemployed and absent from home. The poem Drifters by Bruce Dawe should
be selected for the prestigious honour of Best Contemporary Australian Poem as it is a realism
poem, describes Australian lifestyle felicitously, which lead the Australian contemporary audiences

As the poem explained, the family members do not agree with the idea of leaving just for the
sake of leaving. Bruce Dawe uses symbols to create moods showing sadness and the loss of
hope. Dawe s line and when the loaded ute bumps down the drive past the blackberry canes with
their last shriveled fruit , the blackberries were used as an indicator of time, on their arrival the
berries were the first of the season but by the time when they drove past the blackberry cane was
they re saw only their last shrivelled fruit . This tells us that they perhaps only stayed for about
two or three months. The brown kelpie pup will start dashing about, tripping everyone up The
dog run around barking, shows the scene of a chaotic house, it also conveys a sense of bad luck
to the family. A kelpie is an Australian sheepdog, in Scottish it refers to an evil water spirit that
takes the form of a horse and drowns travellers. This cross meaning gives the poem a sense of
danger, implying that the family is not only traveling with a puppy for the children but is also an
omen of bad luck. The unexpectedness of the move is conveyed by the fact that the tomatoes are
still green on the vine. They never live in the one place long enough for the tomatoes to ripen. This
could be the same for other aspects of their lives, making new friends could be an example. They
started to become friendly with the

Mandatory Life Sentencing
When you are a juvenile would you want to spend life in prison because of something you did
while you were young, and still learning what is right and what is wrong in life? Life without
parole is a big deal for minors because they still have their whole life ahead of them to learn and
grow as a human being. Juveniles do not fully understand what they do sometimes because they are
so young. I agree with the majority of the supreme court justices who believe that mandatory life
sentences are unconstitutional, unfair, and inhumane because kids don t have a chance to grow up,
they aren t getting a fair punishment, and some juveniles do not deserve life with parole. A study
shows that there are at least 2,225 children serving life without parole... Show more content on

For example, In the article Kids are Kids Until they Commit Crimes by Marjie Lundstrom it
states ВЁthey can t smoke, or drink, or go to R movies without the parents OK. It s why they
don t vote. It is why they have curfews. Its why we fret over their internet access and fees about
driving privilegesВЁ(1, 3). They have curfews and rules for a reason. It is because they are not
adults and should not be treated like one when they make a mistake. Girls reach the end of
puberty around age 18, and boys at the age of 20. For example, in the article Startling Find on
Teenage Brains by Paul Thompson it states brain cells and connections are only being lost in the
areas controlling impulses, risk taking, and self control. These frontal lobes, which inhibit out
violent passion, rash actions, and regulate our emotions, are vastly immature throughout the
teenage years (1, 7). This tells us that that teenage brain does not work like adult brains. Teenager
do not have full control over their brain because they have a massive loss of brain tissue that
occurs in the teen years. The eighth amendment states Excessive bail shall not be required, nor
excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. I think that giving a teenager
life without parole is a cruel punishment because they are really young and they still have a lot to
learn about life. They don t have adult privileges so it is not fair to give them adult sentencing and,
once again their brain is not fully developed. Teenagers should get a chance to fix the mistake that
they have done. We could give them the chance of parole to do greater and better things with their

Upbringing Of Same Sex Marriage In The United States
The importance of love has abruptly changed society forever.Same sex marriage has evolved
over time. Before the law was passed in 2015 that it was legal for same sex can get married in
any state in the United States; they had to build that foundation to get to this point. People that
were not man and woman marriages were frowned upon by people that was not for it. These
people were murdered, whipped, said they had a disorder, and brutally beaten until they changed
their ways . The plethora of court cases, Harvey Milk, and The Defense Of Marriage Act are all
examples of the coming of age of same sex marriage.
Over the years from the early 1900s to the present 20th century marriage has made a 360. From
deaths, jail time, and whippings; this is what molds the upbringing of same sex marriage.
The Society of Human Rights was the first and the oldest documented gay rights organization. It

The War Of The Aesir And The Vanir

Mythology 3rd Hour
April 4th, 2016
The War of the Aesir and the Vanir In Norse mythology, gods and goddesses usually belong to one
of two tribes: the Aesir and the Vanir. Throughout most of the Norse tales, deities from the two
tribes get along fairly easily, and it s hard to pin down firm distinctions between the two groups. But
there was a time when that wasn t the case.
The War of the Gods
The Vanirgoddess Freya was always the foremost practitioner of the art of seidr, a form of magic
principally concerned with discerning and altering the course of destiny. Like historical seidr
practitioners, she wandered from town to town plying her craft for hire.
Under the name HeiГ°r ( Bright ), she eventually came to Asgard, the home of the Aesir. The
Aesir were quite taken by her powers and zealously sought her services. But soon they realized
that their values of honor, kin loyalty, and obedience to the law were being pushed aside by the
selfish desires they sought to fulfill with the witch s magic. Blaming Freya for their own
shortcomings, the Aesir called her Gullveig ( Gold greed ) and attempted to murder her. Three
times they tried to burn her, and three times she was reborn from the ashes.
Because of this, the Aesir and Vanir came to hate and fear one another, and these hostilities erupted
into war. The Aesir fought by the rules of plain combat, with weapons and brute force, while the
Vanir used the subtler means of magic. The war went on for some

2.10.1.5.2 RIP Timers RIP has four basic timers
1)Update Timer indicates how regularly the router will send out a routing table update.
2)Invalid Timer indicates how long a route will remain in a routing table before being marked as
invalid, if no new updates are heard about this route. The invalid timer will be reset if an update is
received for that fussy route before the timer expires. A route marked as invalid is not immediately
removed from the routing table. Instead, the route is marked with a metric of 16, indicating it is
unreachable, and placed in a hold down state.
3)Hold down Timer indicates how long RIP will suppress a route that it has placed in a hold down
state. RIP will not accept any new updates for routes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gaelic Ireland s military became more pronounced going into the 17th century as well as a new
Protestant Domination (History of Ireland). Home Rule , the historical movement used to solidify
internal autonomy for the British Empire. Thanks to a Protestant lawyer, Isaac Butt, an Irish
Parliament was established in 1870. After going through the Irish War of Independence and the
Anglo Irish Treaty in 1922, Ireland became an independent free state. The last conflict in Ireland
occurred in the late 1960s, which resolved thirty years later with the Belfast Agreement. Because
these two countries have similar social classes, lifestyles and gender relations, many outsiders
confuse specific traditions practiced individually as parallel customs. Ireland and Scotland
coincide in practicing Catholicism. Surprisingly, Ireland and Scotland have many similarities such
as national icons, the Gaelic tongue, which was brought to Scotland in the Middle Ages by Fergus
Mor (Sayers), and an almost unhealthy popularity of whiskey. Due to the size of Europe and the
minute distance between England, Scotland, and Ireland, the officially proven origin of the Jig
differs from source to source. Traditional Jig music is referenced as folk music to encompass the
various genres underneath the umbrella term of folk music . As a result of cultural diffusion, the

Silent Film The Artist And Singin In The Rain
The Artist is a film set in the silent film era that is an almost silent film itself and I found it
incredibly effective that a film about the silent film era is practically silent itself. The lack of
spoken dialogue and diegetic sound makes it ever so clear to the viewer that this movie is about
the silent filmera and it is attempting to make a statement about that style of film. Although the
advent and surge in popularity of talkies has been addressed in other films, such as Singin in the
Rain, The Artist is unique in that it addresses the takeover of talkies in the context of a silent
film. Prior to watching The Artist, I read a short synopsis of the plot, so I somewhat knew what
to expect from the plot of the film and it seemed like a film that I would enjoy. My husband had
seen the film previously, and said that he enjoyed it, but because his opinions of films can differ
so greatly from mine, I wasn t sure how to interpret his enjoyment of the film. Before I watched
The Artist, my expectation was that it would be an enjoyable, interesting almost silent film, with
what feels like a stereotypical plot line ( washed up male character has difficulties acclimating to

The cinematography and cinematic language were quite effective, and although I initially
suspected that the plot would ultimately be satisfying but stale, I was pleased that it surpassed my

surface when I am watching films, and I found that by watching The Artist with the intent of
analyzing certain aspects of it, I was more engaged and enjoyed it more than I think I would have

American Pie Rhetorical Devices
Media has been a vital element to American entertainment since its commencement. This
entertainment comes in all varieties, whether it is film, commercials, music or general
consumer ads. Either way, they are all used to engage or encourage the reader or viewer to feel a
certain way. Music has always been a catalyst for human beings since the first caveman started
tapping his feet in a rhythmic pattern. Music can be used to express any feeling a person can
have about any subject they might think about. It can be used to describe the ideals of an era or
time frame; just look at music over the last one hundred plus years. No matter what, there is
usually always some sort of symbolism or deeper meaning that the songwriter is trying to get to
the listener. It s no debate that the music we listen to today is most definitely not the music the
generation our grandparents or even our parents listened to. The song American Pie by Don
McLean, which released in 1971, is one of the most analyzed songs in American pop culture
history (Shuck). Standing as a story all on its own, a simple analysis of the lyrics reveals allusions
and metaphors in abundance. Analyzing these allusions and metaphors exposes many rhetorical
devices used by McLean.

Essay On The Cycle Of Nemesis In Richard III
Throughout this soliloquy in act 3 scene 4 of Shakespeare s Richard III Lord Hastings is led to
his execution. This scene portrays how the cycle of nemesis turns for all who choose to chase
earthly glory. He projects his regret to chase power alongside Richard as well as when he neglected
to acknowledge the many implications that led to his demise ultimate punishment, death. He is
currently being lowered off the wheelof fortune while simultaneously Richard has come one step
into his goal with his execution.
He first projects his Woe for England and it s future. As well as acknowledging the fact that this
fate was not unforeseen and it was his own ignorance that drove him here. He accepts his
punishment and has no pity for himself. Not a whit for me, The use of an epizeuxis woe woe
applies emphasis on the intense worry he has for England s future at the hands of Richard. The
alliteration between woe woe and whit shows the contrasting yet similar situations of people who
will share the same fate as they travel along the wheel. The woe is the prediction of fate as he is
stating they will suffer and he has pity for their future whereas whit is for his current state, as he is
in his finale awareness.
He is currently in his final awareness of the cycle of nemesis as he remembers a time when he
chose to disdain to fly avoiding punishment after Stanley did dream the boar did raze his helm He
realizes this decision led him here.

Cole Matthews is a fifteen year old teenager from Minneapolis. He is a baby faced person with

Also, he doesn t trust anyone who isn t afraid of him. For example, on page four, the book
clarifies, He didn t trust anyone who wasn t afraid of him. As you can see, Cole is not the nicest
person in the world. Cole Matthews has been in trouble with the law for half of his life. An
example from the text is (page five) ...who has been in trouble with the law half his life. Many
people in the story think that he should get tried as an adult and spend some time in jail so he
doesn t hurt anyone else. For example, on page forty six, Peter s lawyer says, That boy is
dangerous, she said. Next time he might kill someone. This Circle Justice has it s place, but I
oppose any plan that does not isolate Cole Matthews. Many characters in the book think that
Cole should have all the things that he s done to happen to him. In the book, Touching Spirit
Bear, on page fifty, Peter says, I think someone should smash Cole s head against a sidewalk so
he knows how it feels. In conclusion, Cole is not afraid to hurt people who aren t afraid of him.
Cole is not polite to anyone around him, even if they are a figure of importance. For example, on
page four Edwin says, Go put your clothes on inside out, he ordered. Get real, old man. Many
characters in the book Touching Spirit Bear view Cole as a nuisance and pain in the rear.
According to the text, on page twenty one Garvey states, I don t invest time in losers.

Polyethylene Glycol 3353 Lab
Question of the day: What factors correlate to the time it takes for polyethylene glycol 3350 to
dissolve?
Hypothesis: Dissolve time has a direct negative correlation to temperature.
Experimental Method: Polyethylene glycol 3350(PEG) was placed in water in order to measure
the amount of time it took for the PEG to dissolve. The amount of both PEG and water were the
same for each trial, the only changing factor was the temperature of the water. Timing started the
moment PEG was placed into water, and the timer was stopped once PEG was dissolved.

Theme Of Disease In Oryx And Crake
Disease: an unnaturally natural cure Oryx and Crake, by Margaret Atwood is a post apocalyptic
novel set in an undetermined future narrated by, Snowman, who seems to be the last true human
on earth. Although the book reads as if it is telling a futuristic tale, in reality many of the
scientific and cultural trends are drawn from our own, current society. One theme of the novel,
disease, has parallel similarities to our society and world today. Disease is woven into all
aspects of life, just as it was used in Oryx and Crake as a capitalistic weapon, a weapon of mass
destruction, and it was used as a cure. Firstly, the theme of disease in this novel has an
overwhelming existence, it is strongly linked into other themes and creates a foundation for how
the novel unravels. As with our society, big pharmaceutical companies have control over life and
death. We often perceive them as greedy, fear mongering scientists. Crake, the borderline mad
scientist at RejoovenEssence, even accuses pharmaceutical companies of inventing diseases and
cures simultaneously in order to maintain a high demand for their services, So, you d need more
sick people. Or else and it might be the same thing more diseases. New and different ones. Right?
Stands to reason, said Jimmy after a moment. It did, too. But don t they keep discovering new
diseases? Not discovering, said Crake. They re creating them. (Atwood 211) The use of disease
and the desire to be cured is nothing more than a

Assistant Project Manager Cover Letter Essay
Bill/Jordan, I am writing to notify you that I am regretfully providing two weeks notice and will
be resigning from my position as Assistant Project Manager with Layne Christensen. This is not
an easy decision but I have to do what is best for my family. When I accepted this position, I was
under the impression that I would be evaluated after a six month period. I took a pay cut of
approximately $10,000 annually to accept a role in the office. I had to adjust our budget to
accept this position, but I knew it would pay off in the future. I bet on myself and my work ethic
as I always do, and I was positive I would prove to everyone that I could handle a bigger role. I
believe I did that in a shorter period than anyone was anticipating. Then came marriage, a second

decision as I was able to learn the industry from the ground up. I learned many things that are not
taught in the office. When you start from the bottom, you have a better understanding and a deeper
appreciation for the dangers and obstacles our guys face on a daily basis in the field. You also

Total cost structure suggests that the costs they will incur during the business would be 8,196,000
per annum and the revenue generated for the project would be 12,100,000 per annum.
The total profit before tax for this business would be 2,809,000 per annum and return on capital
before tax would be 112% for running on full capacity which at the same time is to be acquired
after 3 years as suggested in the report.
Other Facts As mentioned in the case the cold storage will operate at its full capacity from the
start as there is more demand in the market to supply. Secondly, there is an opportunity available
for cold store to increase its profitability through trading. So there is an expansion opportunity for
cold storage. Managerial problems would be at low level for cold storage; these problems might
emerge after expansion in trading. There is also the opportunity of expansion with the chain of
cold storage. On the other hand for knitwear all the numbers mentioned in the report are acquired
when the facility is operating at its full capacity which is after 3 years. The profitability would be
affected by the variation in the prices which consisted of major part of cost of production. There is
an intense competition in this industry which will affect the sales prices as well and eventually
profitability. Huge promotional efforts are required in this industry to overcome competition which

Therefore Mr Brown is my target audience. Since Mr Brown is not an experienced user of ICT I
will have to make a system which is easily usable. Analysis Design specification My system will
need to have the following: * Text which is changeable * Store numerical data (e.g. book token

the book tokens worksheet. On this worksheet I shall have the budget of the book token
alongside with what each student receiving the book token shall get. Firstly I need to have a
budget. So I will have to enter this into a cell. Next I will need to edit this text slightly. I will
make it bold and underline it. Then I shall need to format the cell next to it so that I can enter the
amount of money without having to insert the pound sign. Then I entered the people who shall
receive the book token. Whilst entering the data I thought that it would be best to fill the entire
page instead of going down in a column. After entering all the data I changed the format of all
the cells which were to contain the pricing to a currency format. Then to make sure that the
value of book tokens does not exceed the budget I decided to have a total cell as well. But when
trying to insert the total I had problem doing it effectively in one cell. Therefore I decided to get
a total of the pupils from education and sports then add them all up in one cell. Then I made the
total cell look more like a total cell. I did this by changing the style of the cell Next I went onto
the Other Awards` worksheet. Firstly I wrote down the different awards available in this worksheet.

Essay about I Am An American
Since the 1800s, immigration has been considered a problem that is out of control in the United
States. Government officials have claimed that the issue of birthright citizenship is the core of the
dispute over immigration. To try and remedy this situation, holders of public office have held
hearings and debates in an attempt to redefine what it means to be an American citizen. Birthright
citizenship is the term used to refer to the citizenship that is granted to an individual who is born on
the associated territory. Providing an individual with citizenship of any state or country means that
one now has the rights, privileges and duties of a citizen in the related region. In the United States,

This text implies that any individual, no matter their original location, is subject to the privileges of
an American citizen. Some argue that the language of the Fourteenth Amendment has been
misinterpreted and abused as time has passed. The backbone for this argument? Subject to the
jurisdiction thereof. In the Fourteenth Amendment, this phrase holds the key to why birthright
citizenship can be deemed unconstitutional. Government officials say that these key words were
put in the constitution to specifically to exclude Native Americans born on reservations and any
other foreign national. In 1884, the case of Elk vs. Wilkins was brought to the attention of the
U.S. Supreme Court. In this case an Indian named John Elk, who was born on a reservation within
the U.S. border, was denied the right to vote by Charles Wilkins even though he had moved to a
non reservation territory and separated himself from his tribe. Elk argued that he deserved the right
to vote as a U.S. citizen because based on the Fourteenth Amendment he was granted automatic
citizenship for being born in the United States. The U.S. Supreme Court came to the conclusion that
Elk was not considered an American citizen just because he was within U.S. jurisdiction. It was
stated that in order to be considered a citizen of the United States, you cannot owe

The Issue Of Rising College Tuition Essay
Throughout this project, I found that working through the Standard Agenda to solve a problem
was an effective way for a group to decide upon a solution. Even though our group was
unexperienced using the Standard Agenda, we were able to use each other s strengths to improve
the quality of our discussion about the issue of rising college tuition. Looking back to previous
projects, I can see how our group has grown to betterunderstand the methods of effective group
work. While there were both beneficial and impeding forces at work in the task and social
processes, I feel that overall our group had a successful problem solving discussion. I believe that
our group did a good job for the most part on following the Standard Agenda. We were able to
complete steps three through six in roughly fifty one minutes. I feel that we did some portions of
the Standard Agenda well but faltered on other sections. For example, I believe that we should have
done a better job with consciously considering solution criteria as a group. At one point in the
conversation(throughout 16:00 to 17:00), I did not know that the solution criteria had been listed
on the whiteboard because we had not clearly defined that we were discussing it as a group. I
ended up interrupting the solution generation phase because I felt the criteria needed more
attention (around 17:49), even though we had naturally explored it for a short period of time
(13:17 14:25). I feel that the solution criteria step is vital to any

A season premier should give a preview of whats to come, it should be exciting, it should be
intriguing. The season 6 premier of Girls, the series final premier, managed to do all that in a
subtle way, very appropriate to the show. It does not end with a drastic cliffhanger or a surprising

Through the past five seasons of Girls we ve watched as every character made terrible design after

Roger Chillingworth Character Analysis
Characters to People Appearance is representative of a character s current state development
along their journey of either growing as a person, or falling back into more feral tendencies that
ultimately destroy their body, soul, or both. Despite what a character may express to the outside
world, their appearance and actions delivers a relatable context of their hidden motives and well
being thus imbuing them with human life. The outward appearance of Roger Chillingworth is one
of the most distinct in the entire novel, even going as far as giving a glance into his future. When
first introduced to Chillingworth, he is a quiet astute individual that is described multiple times as
inquisitive and observant, traits that are red flags for a character searching for something. The
work of Bethany Reid within, Narrative of the Captivity and Redemption of Roger Prynne , reveals
similar sentiment. She starts her observation by noting, [In] Our first view of Roger
Chillingworth... what we first observe about him underscores his mutable nature. (Reid, 46). Roger
s nature starting off the story in this fashion is consistent to his inner motives; he simply wishes to
learn more about Hester and her whereabouts. On the same page, however, it is noted that he has a
slight hunch in his shoulders, a disfigurement of sorts. This disfigurement is our first clue into his
future involvement in the conflict of the story as he becomes more and more disfigured within.

While implementing a project it is imperative to have the commitment of the management and also
employees, the employees were disgruntled as the project threatened their jobs, it would be
advisable to avoid the project all together.
The project did not achieve desirable standards as far as customer requirements, scope, environment
and execution were concerned. It was important that the project integrators to ensure customers do
not escalate during the implementation of the project, being the first adopters of the software
FoxMeyer should have exercised caution by adopting the software in phases rather than
implementing the project directly, furthermore, execution was the biggest problem, despite
knowing that the project needed skilled personnel FoxMeyer did not train staff during the early
stages of the project and had to rely on consultants. Finally the company should have gained control
over the project from the start to ensure that all the staff and management were involved but in this
case despite knowing that the project would not work as envisaged the management did not take
control or stop the implementation of the project.
FoxMeyer should not have implemented the project on the basis of escalation that the project
would save the company revenue. All the project factors needed to be considered. The project
vendor and consultants should not rely on history of successful projects but careful analysis of each
company before implementing a project.

Columbus, The Indians, And Human Progress
Chapter 1 COLUMBUS, THE INDIANS, AND HUMAN PROGRESS
Thesis Statement:
Zinn argues that the perspective of indigenous people should not be omitted and argues that their
perspectives are as significant as any other. He provides insight and perspectives of the Indians to
describe how the heinous acts of the Europeans were unjustified. He also discusses that the
Europeans had a continual motive of exploring during that time which was to increase the power
/authority of the Spanish Crown by whatever means necessary, usually leading to violent wars.
B. Evidence used:
The Europeans main goal revolved around the stability of power of the Spanish Crown. The
Spanish Crown was focused on expanding their military so they needed resources such as gold to
pay for the constantly increasing military budget. Columbus used this idea to help get resources
such as, boats, men, food and weapons from the Spanish Crown. This is important because it
describes the desperate need of gold that the Spaniards had which ultimately led to the gruesome
acts they committed.
Although the Spaniards and English were greeted with hospitality, food, and gifts they still sought
war because it was not enough. Zinn mentions this quote, They willingly traded everything they
owned... , which shows that Cortes and Columbus were both greeted by the Indians with kindness.
However, they both used that to their advantage tricking them into slavery and oppression. he was

Trust In The Odyssey
Trust is an incredible trait to have. Some may say that without trust the world wouldn t go around.
But what exactly is trust? Merriam Webster defines trust as one in which confidence is placed (
Trust ). Confidence is a whole big impact that goes along with the feeling of trust. Being a
trustworthy person means that people can rely on you for things. Trustcan lead to a lot of danger
also. If trust is broken, There can be a lot of lack of communication because someone might not
trust you with some things. Trust might not come as just vocally trust. When you are asked to do
something a certain way, you are trusted you will get it done in that way. Trust is a very important
thing in everyday life.
Trust and confidence are not the same thing. Yes you can have confidence in someone but trust is
more. Confidence is more of a self worth trait. You can find confidence when out on the
basketball court free throw line. In order to score and shoot you have to have confidence in
yourself to do so. Confidence can also be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Summary
In a research article written by Richard Hartshorne and Jennifer Baucom (2007), entitled, Issues
Affecting Cross Cultural Adaptation of International Graduate Students Richard, published at the
Multicultural Learning and Teaching Journal, the issues or challenges that international graduate
students related to cross cultural adaption were investigated. The main idea of the study was that
international students need to cope and adjust themselves to a new culture in order to make their
learning experiences more meaningful, and in order to achieve this some barriers must be
overcome. The main purpose of the study, therefore, was to identify the diverse barriers
encountered by international students and then propose ways of overcoming these barriers
efficiently. In a much broader sense, the objectives of the study are two fold: to identify and
understand the barriers for inter cultural adaptation and then provide recommendations on how to
lessen or overcome such barriers with the different stakeholders in mind. The revealed that such
barriers are a result in differences in the international students home culture and the new or host
culture, the differences in learning environments, and personal uniqueness or the self. Nevertheless,
there are also similarities among these four factors. The authors noted that the similarities can be
improved and the barriers can be minimized if some initiatives are to be taken. The authors were

Abstract The proposed project would investigate critical issues been faced by the healthcare
organizations in implementing the business intelligence solutions within the system. In spite of a
number of research studies carried out on implementation framework for business intelligence tools,
there is negligible literature available specific to the healthcare sector. This project would discuss
the benefits in details which an integrated business intelligence tool once implemented in a
healthcare organization can provide for the different purposes by using the data which when
effectively analyzed by the decision support system. It would also be attempted to show how the
advantages of such business intelligence inputs can be valuable for all hierarchical levels of the
organization right from responding to the day to day operational issues to the support for making
long term strategically planning choices. The co agency concept would also be applied during
course of the project wherein the major adverse impacts which resulted due to untimely and
incomplete decision making process would be presented. Introduction Research findings indicate
that a good proportion of adverse safety events can be prevented in hospitals globally by deploying

Digital Imaging Technician
The role of the Digital Imaging Technician emerged when movie makers switched from film to
digital as the predominant medium for shooting movies and television. In the modern film
industry, any production will have at least one DIT or Data Wrangler on set at all times to dump
and backup the raw footage, which is their main responsibility. Although they are both in charge of
transferring and safeguarding footage, DITs have more responsibilities and play a bigger role both
off set and on, and thus need much more experience and knowledge than Data Wranglers.
A DIT can be defined as an assistant and consultant of the cinematographer with knowledge in the
areas of camera software, image quality, colour correction, and managing the workflow of a
production (Van Hove 2013). DITs have an important role in both pre production and post
production phases: Before shooting, they will consult with the cinematographer and decide on

Photosynthesis And Cellular Respiration Essay
Slide #1
Hello, my name is Audrey and welcome to my presentation on the chemistry of photosynthesis and
cellular respiration.
Slide #2
To begin, both systems are considered interdependent, which means that one is dependent on the
other. You can t have photosynthesis without cellular respiration and vice versa. Basically, they are
two sides to the same coin
Slide #3
The first side of the proverbial coin is photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is an endergonic reaction,
meaning that plants absorb light energy, in order to turn carbon dioxideand water into chemical
energy.
Slide #4
The very word, photo synthesis gives away what kind of reaction it is...a synthesis reaction. In this
case, you have two products ( ) in the presence of light energy ... Show more content on

Once our digestive system has done its thing, breaking larger down into smaller particles, the
resulting [products] are carried to our cells by our circulatory system to our tiny cells where cellular
respiration happens.
Slide #8
Unlike photosynthesis, cellular respiration is an exergonic reaction where energy is released,
rather than absorbed. This released energy is called ATP, the energy currency of the cell.
Slide #9
Also, unlike photosynthesis, cellular respiration is known as a decomposition reaction. During
this reaction, the exergonic release of energy is produced by breaking glucose down into smaller
ATP molecules, water and carbon dioxide which is released into the air, for use by plants, every
time we exhale
Slide #10
Like Photosynthesis, cellular respiration is also a redox reaction where glucose loses electrons and
hydrogen atoms to produce carbon dioxide causing the glucose to become oxidized. At the same
time, oxygen gains electrons and hydrogen atoms, reducing it to water.

Brutus Motive For Killing Caesar Essay
He was not of an age but for all time! (Blake) said Ben Jonson, an English playwright, poet and
literacy critic of the seventeenth century, of William Shakespeare. Shakespeare s play Julius
Caesar, was written in 1599 and was considered his [most readable work] (Glencoe McGraw
Hill). Centuries after the play was written, readers, actors, and theater goers have continued to
question Brutus motive for killing Caesar. His conflict between his loyalty to his friend and his
country is shown throughout the play. Brutus says, Since Cassius first did whet me against
Caesar, I have not slept. (Shakespeare 801, 1.2.61 63) which demonstrates that he could not and
would not kill Caesar without having good cause for doing so. A look at Brutus s selfless
reasons for turning against his friend Caesar shows that he is a patriot and not a traitor. The other
conspirators want to kill Caesar because they are envious and jealous of his power, but Brutus
wants to keep Rome a free country. Brutus is driven by patriotism, the need to act on his values,
and the need to keep the good name of his ancestors. For these reasons, Brutus was justified in
siding with the conspirators and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cassius reminds him, Oh, you and I have heard our fathers say there was a Brutus once that
would have brooked the eternal devil to keep his state in Rome as easily as a king (Shakespeare
787, 1.2.158 161). It is important to Brutus that the Roman people see him as a protector of the
republic like they saw his ancestors, not as a murderer without cause. Brutus explains to Cassius
that they must kill Caesar to save Rome, but they must not kill Antony too, Our course will seem
too bloody, Caius Cassius, To cut the head off and then hack the limbs Like wrath in death and
envy afterwards; For Antony is but a limb of Caesar; Let us be sacrificers, but not butchers, Caius.

Kelo V. City Of New London Case Study
One of the primary instances, and landmark cases, that spurred more debates on imminent domain
is the Kelo vs City of New London case. In Kelo v. City of New London, the Supreme Court held
that economic development constituted a public use that justified the taking of private property
through eminent domain. (R N.Y, 2016). Propertyrights have always been a challenge in every
civilization. This case garnered a lot of interest from the media and in turn that of the rest of U.S
residents as it shocked the nation. The case is related to a development project that the city wanted
to undertake to make the best use of the land in the area. The town of New London, a small city
within Connecticut, experienced downward spiraling economy when

Carnivores Lab Report
In this lab we studied selection and adaptation and we did this by looking at skulls of a variety of
species and we categorized them based on their feeding groups. We looked at omnivores,
carnivores, and herbivores; however, for our experiments we only examined carnivores and
herbivores. The paper we used in this unit was studying the way the shape of a skull can
determine and help explain their feeding groups; they used the dog family when doing this study
(Slater et al.). For our experiment we used the skulls of carnivores and herbivores provided to us
by our lab instructor. In her 1990 book Christine Janis states how there have been several studies
that were focused on meat eaters, or on primates but little were on mammalian herbivores.... Show

Ansel Adams s Influence On The Performance Of A Musical...
Ansel Adams was born February 1902 and died in April 1984. His life began in San Francisco,
California. Growing up Adams was quite creative, such as teaching himself the piano, according to
Lamar (1998, p.3), Adams became a serious pianist as a child. Later, he would argue for the
connections between music and photography, calling attention to the importance of tonal gradations
and likening the printing of a negative to the performance of a musical score .
In 1916 his passion for photography began after a trip to Yosemite National Park. Adams
personality was described as hyperactive, and he also had difficulty reading. Due to Adams struggle
in school, his father and aunt began tutoring him, however he never earned a high school diploma.
After visiting
Adams creativity expanded beyond anything that could be taught in an educational way, with
Grzymkowski stating that Adams s studies veered into the world of music at age twelve, when he
taught himself to read music and play piano. By the age of eighteen, he was an apt pianist with
every intention of pursuing music as a career. The science and precision of his musical craft later
influenced his photography (Grzymkowski 2013, p.101).
With the assistance of photography magazines, attending camera club meetings, learning darkroom
techniques and visiting photography as well as art exhibits, these all became contributing factors to
Adams eventually selling his early photographs.
His breakthrough as a photographer was due to his

have been rescued. She was a hero for carving a way for other slaves to follow and escape slavery
and to change it. Basically without Harriet Tubman slavery would probably still exist and those

direct proportion to changes in an activity driver (Hansen Mowen, 2009, p. 67). Therefore,
variable costs are these which is taken in consideration for decision making. For instance, in
health care the cost are divided in three categories (Health Service Costs, Costs borne by patients
and their families and External costs borne by the rest of the society (Robinson, 1993). Health
Service Costs includes costs that can be divided in fixed costs which remain the same whatever
the level of activity (heating, lighting) and variable costs which differ according the level of
activity (staff time). Additionally, an Environmental Management Accounting framework was

Ventilator Associated Pneumonia Prevention
Leonard, T. N.
Thomas Edison State College
Abstract
Ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) remains a big drawback within the hospital setting, with
terribly high morbidity, mortality, and cost. Some people tend to perform an evidence based review
of the literature that specializes in clinically relevant pharmacological and non pharmacological
interventions to prevent VAP. Thanks to the importance of this condition the implementation of
preventive measures is predominant within the care of mechanically ventilated patients. There is
proof that these measures decrease the incidence of VAP and improve outcomes within the
intensive care unit. A multidisciplinary approach, continuing... Show more content on

VAP has been seen to cause up to 71% of hospital pneumonia deaths. According to Koenig (2006),
Ventilator associated pneumonia is defined as pneumonia occurring more than 48 hours after
patients have been intubated and received mechanical ventilation. Diagnosing VAP requires a high
clinical suspicion combined with bedside examination, radiographic examination, and
microbiologic analysis of respiratory secretions. Aggressive surveillance is vital in under
standing local factors leading to VAP and the microbiologic milieu of a given unit. Judicious
antibiotic usage is essential, as resistant organisms continue to plague intensive care units and
critically ill patients. Simple nursing and respiratory therapy interventions for prevention should
be adopted. (para.2) VAP has two types, early on set (within the first 48 hours), and late on set
VAP (after 90 hours). VAP will usually appear within the first 48 hours after intubation. Diagnosis
of VAP can sometimes be very difficult. The usual and best way to diagnose VAP is to have a
portable chest radiograph performed. According to Koenig (2006),
While the portable chest radiograph still remains a mandatory component in the diagnosis of
ventilated patients with suspected pneumonia, as with clinical criteria for diagnosing VAP, it too
has problems with both sensitivity and specificity. Poor quality films further compromise the
accuracy of chest X rays.

Use Of Hypnosis And Medical Practice
The Use of Hypnosis in Medical Practice
A literature review
Ashley Gowty 10207287
For centuries hypnosis was far from being part of the scientific world. But in the last couple of
decades its reputation has moved from that of cult practise to a highly recognised psychological
practice. Recently there has been an emerging trend using hypnosis in a physiological manner; this
review will look at how hypnosis is currently being used in the medical field. Looking at what
exactly hypnosis is and its therapeutic uses, it s use as a treatment for pain relief and reflecting on
how hypnotizable the general population is.
The literature reviewed is generally definitive in the nature of hypnosis. Bryant and Mabbutt
(2006, p. 12) describe it as ... a state of mind connected to deep relaxation, narrowed focus, and
increased suggestibility. They also suggest that Hypnosis is an intermediate state between sleep
and wakefulness. Bryant and Mabbutt s description is echoed by Cyna, McAuliffe, Andrew who
apply the use of hypnosis to the clinical setting (hypnotherapy) and suggest that it is used to to
achieve specific therapeutic goals such as the alleviation of pain or anxiety. (Cyna, McAuliffe,
Andrew, 2004). Staff at The Mayo Clinic extend upon the defination of hypnosis by stating that
Hypnosis is intended to help you gain more control over undesired behaviours or emotions or to
help you cope better with a wide range of medical conditions. (Staff, 2009). They continue by

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bonds
Bonds act as an investment instrument which the investors invest their money to the bonds and
bonds can provide a means of preserving capital and earning a predictable return. While many
investments provide some form of income, bonds tend to provide the highest and most reliable
source of income. Even at the time of low interest rates, there are still plenty of options (such as
high yield bonds and emerging market bonds), investors can use it to construct a portfolio that will
meet their income needs. The most important thing is diversified bondportfolio can provide decent
yields with lower volatility than equities and higher income than money market funds or bank

1948 to Garden, Notting Hill Gate 1997, and highlights include the marvellous series of portraits of
his mother, portraits of fellow painters John Minton, Michael Andrews and Frank

filled with life and liveliness, each in its way a celebration.
I paint people , Freud has said, not because of what they are like, not exactly in spite of what they
are like, but how they happen to be . Until the mid 1950 s, Freud worked in a tightly focused style,
which he had begun to use at the East Anglian School of Drawing and
Painting, run by Cedric Morris. The school was very informal; as Freud said, there was No
teaching much but there were models and you could work in your own room . In many ways he
worked by trial and error:
Landscape with Birds (no. 3, shown in room 1) was an experiment with the kind of enamel paint
he thought was used by Picasso. As he said later, Learning to paint is literally learning to use paint.

The Neo Patrimonial State And The Capitalist Class Essay
Koral Zazueta
PSCI 241 Essay #1
Kohli identified Cohesive Capitalist state in South Korea as being the most effective in fostering
industrialization because of its centralized cohesive state authority and close relationship between
the state and the capitalist class. The Neo patrimonial state in Nigeria is characterized by a weak
decentralized authority and consists of a corrupt relationship between the state and the private
sector, which makes it least effective. The Fragmented Multiclass state in India consists of a
fragmented state authority and a broader class alliance which falls in between the two other states
(Kohli, 2004). Successful state intervention can be identified by different methods of state
intervention aimed at promoting industrialization. Ultimately, the role of different types of
colonialism, state intervention, nationalist movements, and state commitments, effect state
development in the developing world.
Kohli argues that the state capacity of India, Nigeria, and South Korea have been molded by their
different colonial experiences and that forceful state intervention enhances rapid economic growth.
To have successful state intervention, a state needs to agree on market reinforcement policies and
profit for private investors, as well as maintain cooperation between the private sector and the state
(Kohli, 2004). While this method did exist and work for South Korea, Botswana experienced a
different type of state intervention with minimal colonial

When he created his dry plate coating machine, Eastman knew he had something. His invention,
the first of its kind was unique in many ways. In 1888 the original Kodak sold for $25 loaded
with a roll of film and included a leather carrying case. Unlike earlier cameras that used a glass
plate negative for each exposure, the Kodak came preloaded with a 100 exposure roll of flexible
film (Original Kodak Camera). When the consumer was finished with their roll of film, they
mailed the whole camera back to the factory to have the film developed and printed at a cost of
$10. The camera was returned with negatives and mounted prints along with a new roll of film.
Kodak advertisements from 1888 stated that any amateur could finish his own pictures and
spare film rolls were sold for $2. According to the National Museum of American History,
Eastman s first camera, The Kodak, created pictures that were distinctly unique with the
recognizable circular snapshots that defined a new style of photography that was informal, fun,
and personal (Original Kodak Camera). The design of the original Kodak had a special barrel
shutter that was set by pulling up a string on top of the camera and operated by pushing a button
on the side of the camera. This is where Kodak s famous line you press the button, we do the rest

Auto Title Loans Essay
Auto title loans represent a fast cash option for the debtor. These short term loans are based on
the value of your car. To get one you need to own your auto outright, free from any liens. You give
the lender your title to secure the loan and you continue to drive your car. Usually the loan
amounts are in the $250 to $1500 range, but depending on the value of your car the amount may be
as high as $10,000. LoanTerms Loan repayment can be worked out in a number of ways. Here
are two of the most common: First, the loan is made for 30 days. You need to repay the amount
you borrow plus the interest in 30 days. If you are unable to pay the full amount, you usually can
roll over the loan by paying only the interest. Then you have a new note to pay in another 30 days.
Usually they will roll it over again and again. Auto title loancompanies want to make as much
money as possible from you. Eventually you need to repay the loan. In the mean time they will
gladly take your interest payments. The other variation is to take out a loan for several months
with interest paid monthly. Then a balloon payment for the amount borrowed is due at the end of
the loan term. An example: An auto title loan is made for $2500. The borrower must make
payments of $400 a month (200% per year) and then pay the $2500 in a balloon payment in 7 or 8
months. Can They Be Useful? Auto title loans can serve a purpose. You need to extraordinarily

  • 2. Praise Of Bill Peters, Coach Of The Carolina Hurricanes In Praise of Bill Peters Now firmly into his third season as a head coach in the NHL, Bill Peters, coach of the Carolina Hurricanes, has a lot of work in front of him to get this team into post season contention. Through his first two years with the organization, Peters is still yet to participate in the playoffs. In fact, it has been seven years since Carolina last saw the playoffs. Peters current lack of post season success shouldn t be an immediate point for concern, as he came into the team during a major recession in terms of team talent. Most notably offensive stars Alexander Semin and Eric Staal both had major drops in terms of point production during Peters first two seasons, both see their way out of Carolina. It appears though for this season the pieces are beginning to fall into place for Peters vision of this team. Their level of play over the past few games has been as high as it has ever been in recent years, as the team as a whole is able to play effectively in all ends. This quick turnover time shouldn t come as a shock to anyone given Bill Peters outstanding performances behind the bench for other teams. Spokane Chiefs Bill Peters first major coaching job came in Major Junior as an assistant coach for the Spokane Chiefs of the WHL. The Three Hills native would serve there as an assistant under then head coach, and current Toronto head coach Mike Babcockfrom 1996 2000, helping Spokane reach a 100 point season and playoff final appearance in Babcock ... • 3. Designing A Final Portfolio Mobile Application This section of the design document will focus on the user experience, GUI design standards as well as components that address mobile accessibility standards. The images below are design for the mobile application specifically. The following designs will be different from the above screens shots that reflect the desktop and tablet designs. For a portfolio website trying to get as much qualification information about the subject is limited due to a search engine optimization to restrain text to not scroll. Therefore, the information will have to be added after project is finalized to become a final portfolio mobile application. Mrs. Schachinger refers there are pros and cons of infinite scroll and mobile development. Time is changing very quickly along with accessibilitystandards. The infinite scroll pro are not limited to ease of pagination, fast access, less clicks and good for web explorers (Search Engine Watch, Feb 2015). If a site is developed for goal oriented tasks, infinite scroll could hinder the development along with the following drawbacks, memory issues, page speed, scrollbar issues and usability , are some examples of possible issues with infinite scroll . Lazy loading could help load mobile pages with abundance of content can be loaded while the first page is still loading or mobile user was still reading current content. To concentrate on the design layout to take this no scroll into effect makes for a harder mobile design, but easier for tablet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Modern And Contemporary Arts Of Africa Tessa Giller 619194 Modern and Contemporary Arts of Africa Essay Word count: African art and the politics of identity in the twenty first century. Identity is never an a priori, nor a finished product; it is only ever the problematic process of access to an image of totality H. Bhahba (1994:50) Introduction. The second half of the twentieth century saw the liberation of the African continent from colonial rule, a time that occasioned the rise of new pride in and new searches for definitions of identities released from the colonial confines. In the twentieth century the politics of identity became salient in discourses, political, social, and cultural, on Africa. The idea of the diaspora was central to new conceptions on African art, often leading to the exclusion of artist residing in Africa in preference of those living in the nomadic condition. The forefront of Africa in modernity was thus not seen as residing in Africa itself but in those that found themselves in the realms of the hegemonic modernity of the West. Nevertheless independence from colonial rule saw a surge in self defining nationalisms based on an ideal form of African nation and identity. Ways of being and producing African art were prescribed to artists, though this does not mean that individual agency was lost. As Atkinson states on post Apartheid South Africa: it is clear that the stakes have shifted, and the country s reintegration into international art , culture, and politics, has ... • 6. Drifters Y Bruce Dawe Essay Drifters by Bruce Dawe Donald Bruce Dawe was born in 1930 in Geelong, Victoria, Melbourne, he is one of the most successful and prolific contemporary poets of Australia. He struggled with his studies, leaving school when he was sixteen, working as a gardener and postman. In 1954 he entered the University of Melbourne. He grew up in a household where his father, a farm labourer, was often unemployed and absent from home. The poem Drifters by Bruce Dawe should be selected for the prestigious honour of Best Contemporary Australian Poem as it is a realism poem, describes Australian lifestyle felicitously, which lead the Australian contemporary audiences easily fall in the poem and deeply engraved in their mind. Bruce Dawe uses symbols to create moods showing sadness and the loss of hope. Dawe s line and when the loaded ute bumps down the drive past the blackberry canes with their last shriveled fruit , the blackberries were used as an indicator of time, on their arrival the berries were the first of the season but by the time when they drove past the blackberry cane was they re saw only their last shrivelled fruit . This tells us that they perhaps only stayed for about two or three months. The brown kelpie pup will start dashing about, tripping everyone up The dog run around barking, shows the scene of a chaotic house, it also conveys a sense of bad luck to the family. A kelpie is an Australian sheepdog, in Scottish it refers to an evil water spirit that takes the form of a horse and drowns travellers. This cross meaning gives the poem a sense of danger, implying that the family is not only traveling with a puppy for the children but is also an omen of bad luck. The unexpectedness of the move is conveyed by the fact that the tomatoes are still green on the vine. They never live in the one place long enough for the tomatoes to ripen. This could be the same for other aspects of their lives, making new friends could be an example. They started to become friendly with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Mandatory Life Sentencing When you are a juvenile would you want to spend life in prison because of something you did while you were young, and still learning what is right and what is wrong in life? Life without parole is a big deal for minors because they still have their whole life ahead of them to learn and grow as a human being. Juveniles do not fully understand what they do sometimes because they are so young. I agree with the majority of the supreme court justices who believe that mandatory life sentences are unconstitutional, unfair, and inhumane because kids don t have a chance to grow up, they aren t getting a fair punishment, and some juveniles do not deserve life with parole. A study shows that there are at least 2,225 children serving life without parole... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, In the article Kids are Kids Until they Commit Crimes by Marjie Lundstrom it states ВЁthey can t smoke, or drink, or go to R movies without the parents OK. It s why they don t vote. It is why they have curfews. Its why we fret over their internet access and fees about driving privilegesВЁ(1, 3). They have curfews and rules for a reason. It is because they are not adults and should not be treated like one when they make a mistake. Girls reach the end of puberty around age 18, and boys at the age of 20. For example, in the article Startling Find on Teenage Brains by Paul Thompson it states brain cells and connections are only being lost in the areas controlling impulses, risk taking, and self control. These frontal lobes, which inhibit out violent passion, rash actions, and regulate our emotions, are vastly immature throughout the teenage years (1, 7). This tells us that that teenage brain does not work like adult brains. Teenager do not have full control over their brain because they have a massive loss of brain tissue that occurs in the teen years. The eighth amendment states Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. I think that giving a teenager life without parole is a cruel punishment because they are really young and they still have a lot to learn about life. They don t have adult privileges so it is not fair to give them adult sentencing and, once again their brain is not fully developed. Teenagers should get a chance to fix the mistake that they have done. We could give them the chance of parole to do greater and better things with their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Upbringing Of Same Sex Marriage Shania Lyons Watson History II HN Period: 9 Upbringing Of Same Sex Marriage In The United States The importance of love has abruptly changed society forever.Same sex marriage has evolved over time. Before the law was passed in 2015 that it was legal for same sex can get married in any state in the United States; they had to build that foundation to get to this point. People that were not man and woman marriages were frowned upon by people that was not for it. These people were murdered, whipped, said they had a disorder, and brutally beaten until they changed their ways . The plethora of court cases, Harvey Milk, and The Defense Of Marriage Act are all examples of the coming of age of same sex marriage. Over the years from the early 1900s to the present 20th century marriage has made a 360. From deaths, jail time, and whippings; this is what molds the upbringing of same sex marriage. The Society of Human Rights was the first and the oldest documented gay rights organization. It was established in 1924 in Chicago, Illinois. Also the first state to decriminalize homosexuality. Friendships and Freedoms were the first American publications on the topic of homosexuality. It was founded by Henry Gerber, the society shortly ended after a majority of members were arrested. • 9. The War Of The Aesir And The Vanir Jordan Root Ms.Takash Mythology 3rd Hour April 4th, 2016 The War of the Aesir and the Vanir In Norse mythology, gods and goddesses usually belong to one of two tribes: the Aesir and the Vanir. Throughout most of the Norse tales, deities from the two tribes get along fairly easily, and it s hard to pin down firm distinctions between the two groups. But there was a time when that wasn t the case. The War of the Gods The Vanirgoddess Freya was always the foremost practitioner of the art of seidr, a form of magic principally concerned with discerning and altering the course of destiny. Like historical seidr practitioners, she wandered from town to town plying her craft for hire. Under the name HeiГ°r ( Bright ), she eventually came to Asgard, the home of the Aesir. The Aesir were quite taken by her powers and zealously sought her services. But soon they realized that their values of honor, kin loyalty, and obedience to the law were being pushed aside by the selfish desires they sought to fulfill with the witch s magic. Blaming Freya for their own shortcomings, the Aesir called her Gullveig ( Gold greed ) and attempted to murder her. Three times they tried to burn her, and three times she was reborn from the ashes. Because of this, the Aesir and Vanir came to hate and fear one another, and these hostilities erupted into war. The Aesir fought by the rules of plain combat, with weapons and brute force, while the Vanir used the subtler means of magic. The war went on for some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Case 10.1.3 Essay 2.10.1.5.2 RIP Timers RIP has four basic timers 1)Update Timer indicates how regularly the router will send out a routing table update. 2)Invalid Timer indicates how long a route will remain in a routing table before being marked as invalid, if no new updates are heard about this route. The invalid timer will be reset if an update is received for that fussy route before the timer expires. A route marked as invalid is not immediately removed from the routing table. Instead, the route is marked with a metric of 16, indicating it is unreachable, and placed in a hold down state. 3)Hold down Timer indicates how long RIP will suppress a route that it has placed in a hold down state. Surprisingly, Ireland and Scotland have many similarities such as national icons, the Gaelic tongue, which was brought to Scotland in the Middle Ages by Fergus Mor (Sayers), and an almost unhealthy popularity of whiskey. Silent Film The Artist And Singin In The Rain The Artist is a film set in the silent film era that is an almost silent film itself and I found it incredibly effective that a film about the silent film era is practically silent itself. The lack of spoken dialogue and diegetic sound makes it ever so clear to the viewer that this movie is about the silent filmera and it is attempting to make a statement about that style of film. Although the advent and surge in popularity of talkies has been addressed in other films, such as Singin in the Rain, The Artist is unique in that it addresses the takeover of talkies in the context of a silent film. Prior to watching The Artist, I read a short synopsis of the plot, so I somewhat knew what to expect from the plot of the film and it seemed like a film that I would enjoy. My husband had seen the film previously, and said that he enjoyed it, but because his opinions of films can differ so greatly from mine, I wasn t sure how to interpret his enjoyment of the film. This entertainment comes in all varieties, whether it is film, commercials, music or general consumer ads. Either way, they are all used to engage or encourage the reader or viewer to feel a certain way. Music has always been a catalyst for human beings since the first caveman started tapping his feet in a rhythmic pattern. Music can be used to express any feeling a person can have about any subject they might think about. It can be used to describe the ideals of an era or time frame; just look at music over the last one hundred plus years. No matter what, there is usually always some sort of symbolism or deeper meaning that the songwriter is trying to get to the listener. It s no debate that the music we listen to today is most definitely not the music the generation our grandparents or even our parents listened to. The song American Pie by Don McLean, which released in 1971, is one of the most analyzed songs in American pop culture history (Shuck). This scene portrays how the cycle of nemesis turns for all who choose to chase earthly glory. He projects his regret to chase power alongside Richard as well as when he neglected to acknowledge the many implications that led to his demise ultimate punishment, death. He is currently being lowered off the wheelof fortune while simultaneously Richard has come one step into his goal with his execution. He first projects his Woe for England and it s future. As well as acknowledging the fact that this fate was not unforeseen and it was his own ignorance that drove him here. He accepts his punishment and has no pity for himself. Not a whit for me, The use of an epizeuxis woe woe applies emphasis on the intense worry he has for England s future at the hands of Richard. The alliteration between woe woe and whit shows the contrasting yet similar situations of people who will share the same fate as they travel along the wheel. The woe is the prediction of fate as he is stating they will suffer and he has pity for their future whereas whit is for his current state, as he is in his finale awareness. He is currently in his final awareness of the cycle of nemesis as he remembers a time when he chose to disdain to fly avoiding punishment after Stanley did dream the boar did raze his helm He realizes this decision led him here. • 21. Theme Of Disease In Oryx And Crake Disease: an unnaturally natural cure Oryx and Crake, by Margaret Atwood is a post apocalyptic novel set in an undetermined future narrated by, Snowman, who seems to be the last true human on earth. Although the book reads as if it is telling a futuristic tale, in reality many of the scientific and cultural trends are drawn from our own, current society. One theme of the novel, disease, has parallel similarities to our society and world today. Disease is woven into all aspects of life, just as it was used in Oryx and Crake as a capitalistic weapon, a weapon of mass destruction, and it was used as a cure. Firstly, the theme of disease in this novel has an overwhelming existence, it is strongly linked into other themes and creates a foundation for how the novel unravels. As with our society, big pharmaceutical companies have control over life and death. We often perceive them as greedy, fear mongering scientists. Crake, the borderline mad scientist at RejoovenEssence, even accuses pharmaceutical companies of inventing diseases and cures simultaneously in order to maintain a high demand for their services, So, you d need more sick people. Or else and it might be the same thing more diseases. New and different ones. Right? Stands to reason, said Jimmy after a moment. It did, too. But don t they keep discovering new diseases? The outward appearance of Roger Chillingworth is one of the most distinct in the entire novel, even going as far as giving a glance into his future. When first introduced to Chillingworth, he is a quiet astute individual that is described multiple times as inquisitive and observant, traits that are red flags for a character searching for something. The work of Bethany Reid within, Narrative of the Captivity and Redemption of Roger Prynne , reveals similar sentiment. Columbus used this idea to help get resources such as, boats, men, food and weapons from the Spanish Crown. This is important because it describes the desperate need of gold that the Spaniards had which ultimately led to the gruesome acts they committed. Although the Spaniards and English were greeted with hospitality, food, and gifts they still sought war because it was not enough. Zinn mentions this quote, They willingly traded everything they owned... , which shows that Cortes and Columbus were both greeted by the Indians with kindness. Summary In a research article written by Richard Hartshorne and Jennifer Baucom (2007), entitled, Issues Affecting Cross Cultural Adaptation of International Graduate Students Richard, published at the Multicultural Learning and Teaching Journal, the issues or challenges that international graduate students related to cross cultural adaption were investigated. The main idea of the study was that international students need to cope and adjust themselves to a new culture in order to make their learning experiences more meaningful, and in order to achieve this some barriers must be overcome. The main purpose of the study, therefore, was to identify the diverse barriers encountered by international students and then propose ways of overcoming these barriers efficiently. In a much broader sense, the objectives of the study are two fold: to identify and understand the barriers for inter cultural adaptation and then provide recommendations on how to lessen or overcome such barriers with the different stakeholders in mind. The revealed that such barriers are a result in differences in the international students home culture and the new or host culture, the differences in learning environments, and personal uniqueness or the self. Nevertheless, there are also similarities among these four factors. The authors noted that the similarities can be improved and the barriers can be minimized if some initiatives are to be taken. The authors were able to give five initiatives: provide ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the modern film industry, any production will have at least one DIT or Data Wrangler on set at all times to dump and backup the raw footage, which is their main responsibility. Although they are both in charge of transferring and safeguarding footage, DITs have more responsibilities and play a bigger role both off set and on, and thus need much more experience and knowledge than Data Wranglers. A DIT can be defined as an assistant and consultant of the cinematographer with knowledge in the areas of camera software, image quality, colour correction, and managing the workflow of a production (Van Hove 2013). According to Koenig (2006), Ventilator associated pneumonia is defined as pneumonia occurring more than 48 hours after patients have been intubated and received mechanical ventilation. Diagnosing VAP requires a high clinical suspicion combined with bedside examination, radiographic examination, and microbiologic analysis of respiratory secretions. Aggressive surveillance is vital in under standing local factors leading to VAP and the microbiologic milieu of a given unit. Judicious antibiotic usage is essential, as resistant organisms continue to plague intensive care units and critically ill patients. Simple nursing and respiratory therapy interventions for prevention should be adopted. (para.2) VAP has two types, early on set (within the first 48 hours), and late on set VAP (after 90 hours). VAP will usually appear within the first 48 hours after intubation. Diagnosis of VAP can sometimes be very difficult. The usual and best way to diagnose VAP is to have a portable chest radiograph performed. The Neo Patrimonial State And The Capitalist Class Essay Koral Zazueta PSCI 241 Essay #1 Kohli identified Cohesive Capitalist state in South Korea as being the most effective in fostering industrialization because of its centralized cohesive state authority and close relationship between the state and the capitalist class. The Neo patrimonial state in Nigeria is characterized by a weak decentralized authority and consists of a corrupt relationship between the state and the private sector, which makes it least effective. The Fragmented Multiclass state in India consists of a fragmented state authority and a broader class alliance which falls in between the two other states (Kohli, 2004). Successful state intervention can be identified by different methods of state intervention aimed at promoting industrialization. Ultimately, the role of different types of colonialism, state intervention, nationalist movements, and state commitments, effect state development in the developing world. Kohli argues that the state capacity of India, Nigeria, and South Korea have been molded by their different colonial experiences and that forceful state intervention enhances rapid economic growth. To have successful state intervention, a state needs to agree on market reinforcement policies and profit for private investors, as well as maintain cooperation between the private sector and the state (Kohli, 2004).
