WORKING PRINCIPAL
 A voltage is applied across the anode and cathode.
 Current flows from cathode to anode through the organic layers.
 Electrons flow to emissive layer from the cathode.
 Electrons are removed from conductive layer leaving holes.
 Holes jump into emissive layer .
 Electron and hole combine and light emitted.
ADVANTAGES
Better Picture Quality: OLED displays provide deeper blacks and higher contrast ratios
compared to traditional LCD displays, resulting in better overall picture quality.
 Thinner and Lighter: OLED panels are thinner and lighter than LCDs because they don't require a
backlight. This makes them ideal for thin and sleek devices like smartphones and TVs.
 Faster Refresh Rates: OLED displays have faster response times compared to LCDs, making them
suitable for fast-paced content like gaming and sports.
 Flexible and Curved Screens: OLED technology allows for flexible and even curved displays, enabling
innovative designs for smartphones, TVs, and wearable devices.
 Energy Efficiency: OLED panels consume less power than LCDs since they only illuminate the pixels
that are needed. This can lead to better battery life in devices like smartphones and laptops
DISADVANTAGES
 Limited Lifespan: OLED displays can suffer from burn-in, where static images cause
permanent damage to the screen over time.
 Cost: OLED displays tend to be more expensive to manufacture than LCDs, which can
result in higher prices for devices that use them.
 Brightness: While OLED displays can produce deep blacks, they may not be as bright as
some high-end LCD displays, particularly in outdoor or brightly lit environments.
 Uniformity Issues: Some OLED displays may exhibit uniformity issues, such as color
shifting or uneven brightness across the screen. This can be distracting, especially in
large displays like TVs.
