Crimes Against Humanity
Throughout history there has been many crimes against humanity and most are still ongoing. Crimes
against humanity is respectively when people are murdered, raped and tortured although it may
involve more than that. Many of these acts of violence go unheard which permits them to keep
occurring. In regard to crimes against humanity I strongly believe that all the nations around the world
should step in to help as a collective to stop these crimes. The self interest of the nation as a whole
should come first but the leaders and people of these nations should feel morally compelled to
intervene and help. Millions of people are being affected directly or indirectly from genocide or
violent crimes and nothing is being done to stop it. The efforts of the nations stepping in would save
millions of innocent people. Groups like the united nations should also play a role in ending all the
violence that occurs in the international community. There has been many times when more could
have been done by the united nations. If nothing is going to be done there will never be peace or even
a slight chance of it. The following genocides impacted the lives of billions of people. The holocaust,
Rwanda genocide and Sudan genocide were three major crimes against humanity that have affected
our international community forever.
The holocaust was one of the biggest crimes against humanity that has occured throughout history.
The holocaust was a genocide that happened in World War 2 killing an estimated 17 million people.
The main goal behind the holocaust was for Nazi Germany, which was led by Adolf Hitler to
exterminate all the jewish people. This traumatic event began in January of 1993 and didn t end till
May of 1945, this time frame was traumatizing for anyone who experienced it or heard of it. Adolf
Hitler was a ultra nationalistic leader and took everything he did to the extreme. He found that the
people of pure german descent were racially superior to all the other races especially those of jewish
descent. If someone didn t qualify to be within the superior race they abstained an excessive amount
of abuse physically and mentally. Nazi Germany formed concentration camps where they would work
people to death or exterminate

Reverse Discrimination In The United States
Lately the United States media has been focused on the unfair treatment many people receive based on
their skin tone, whether it is the recent police brutality against African Americans or the focuses the
2018 presidential election has put on illegal immigration. Unfortunately the media has avidly avoided
any subject that may be considered reverse discrimination also known as reverse racism. Reverse
discrimination is a phenomenon in which members of majority groups receive unfair treatment in
attempt to remedy earlier discrimination against minorities. Many people believe that reverse
discrimination is becoming more prevalent part of modern society, by creating equal opportunity s this
issue can be easily reduced.
Reverse discrimination has become a joke with in many minority communities, approximately seven
in ten black (74%) and Hispanic Americans (70%) do not believe discrimination against whites is as
big of a problem as discrimination against other groups (Public Religion Research Institute 38). This
is because many people hold the opinion that only minorities can be discriminated against. According

Methanol Plant In Tacoma
Would you be up for having the largest methanol plant in the world next to your city? Most people
wouldn t. This would be a bigger con than pro for Tacoma. It would cause environmental issues, and
can be dangerous. One reason this would be a bad idea is because it would cause a lot of pollution,
and more than Tacoma already has. Another reason this would be bad idea is because if something
goes wrong, it can cause a lot of problems and can potentially be dangerous. This is why a methanol
plant in Tacoma, WA would be a bad idea. First of all, one reason building a methanol plant in Tacoma
is a bad idea is because it would consume too much of our resources. One detail that supports the
claim is in the text, Proposed Methanol Plant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One detail that supports the claim is in the text The News Tribune , Unknown amounts of airborne
irritants, volatile, organic compounds, and carbon will be released into the air. This detail supports the
claim because Tacoma already has pollution, and if we keep adding it, it will only get worse. It also
supports this because the more we add, the more Tacoma will start to smell bad. Another detail that
supports the claim is in the text, NW Innovation Works , While taxpayers have paid tens of millions of
dollars to remediate the former smelter site, it remains polluted to this day. This detail supports my
answer because this proves that it i already polluted, and they cannot fix it now, so we keep adding to
it, it will become way worse and will become unfixable. The last detail that supports the claim is in the
text The Seattle Times , So, even though the Tacoma and Kalama projects would increase Washington
state s use of a fossil fuel, Inslee and other state officials have promoted the deal as a way to reduce
the global release of greenhouse gases, which scientists say are driving climate change. This detail
supports the claim because even though it can be beneficial, in the long run it would still cause climate
change, which is bad for the environment. This is another way a methanol plant in Tacoma would be
bad. Overall, the methanol plant in Tacoma would

Symbolism In Tangerine By Edward Bloor
Every day, people often get themselves in positions where they are presented with appearance known
to be deceptive. Based on the appearance, a false truth hides beneath an exceptional display. People,
objects, and buildings are entirely taken by people s perspectives. This is the theme that the book
Tangerine illustrates. The novel Tangerine, written by Edward Bloor, is about Paul Fisher, a boy
having to go through many situations where a false reality surrounds his life. Bloor uses Erik Fisher
and the Tangerine County to reveal that reality is often far from what it appears to be. The first symbol
Edward Bloor uses is Erik Fisher. Erik Fisher is a high school football star without impaired vision
unlike his brother, Paul (Burch 27). As Paul finds out, his eyes were damaged from Erik. Paul states, I
remembered Erik s fingers prying my eyelids open while Vincent Castor sprayed white paint into them
(255). This shows that Paul did not realize the dark past behind his disability and that Erik could have
done such a thing to him since Erik s external shape is much clearer than the looking of himself.
Another reality behind Erik s typical appearance is that he orders his sidekick, Arthur Bauer to murder
Luis Cruz (275). Not even enough with this, Erik stoles the jewelry from his neighborhood ... Show

Paul Fisher describes the Tangerine County as a place carpeted with green grass, with trees along both
sides of the road and flower beds running down the middle of a median strip. We could see the roofs
of big expensive houses peeking up over the landscaping (9). Although things on the surface look
great in Tangerine County, they re falling apart underneath. Outside the housing development, a muck
fire burns underground (16). In a middle school, a sinkhole opens (80), and mosquitoes torture the
neighborhoods (161). These incidents completely differ from its display of a beautiful

The Biological Theory And Gender Essay
This has been a very interesting class and while reviewing for this paper, I realized I will take away
more than I originally though in the way of instruction and understanding. When I first started, I
assumed gender communication was how male and females communicate. While I still hold to some
of my original theory s regarding gender, many of my views have changed. Additionally, this study as
made me aware of what a complicated issue gender is going way beyond the male female sex.
In our reading, Wood states (2009) We are born male or female (sex), but we learn to act in masculine
and/or feminine ways (gender) (Woods, p. 23). We examined three theoretical approaches to Gender in
an effort to understand why we act feminine or masculine. These theories not only provide
information, but influence our thoughts and behaviors towards others (Woods, p. 39). The Biological
Theory maintains biological characteristics are the bases of gender differences a sub group within this
is Sociobiology or the evolutionary theory whose focus is on reproduction to ensure survival. (Woods,
p. 40,41). Interpersonal theories include the psychodynamic theory stating it is the first relationship
that establishes gender identity, Psychological theory focusing on communication as the key to gender
identity, Social learning theory states we learn how to act masculine and feminine from the responses
of those around us, with the Cognitive Development theory focuses on gender consistency and that

Thesis:
The English morality play Everyman uses allegorical characters to represent what Everyman holds
onto and values during his life. Everyman has neglected his spiritual life, but as the play develops
Everyman repents of his sins on time. Summoned by Death, Everyman realizes that he is not ready
and does not want to die alone. Thereafter, Everyman seeks to find a companion to go with him on the
journey to give account of his life to God but to no avail, Everyman soon realizes that all of those who
accompanied him on earth soon abandon him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
God then commands Death to show Everyman who is outside of the law of God what must come to
him without escape or delay, the day of reckoning for all. Death encounters Everyman and has
questioned him about why he has neglected God, Everyman, stand still! Whither art thou going thus
gaily? Hast thou thy Maker forget? (Anonymous). Death dispenses the bad news that his day of
reckoning for his sins has come and he must give account to God. Upon hearing that his time has
come to an end he begins to fear his journey to go before God and give an answer to how he lived his
life on earth. Everyman bribes Death to give him another day. Everyman s argument is that Death did
not give him a warning and now he wants to find a companion to accompany him on this journey of
reckoning. As time nears Everyman struggles with his ignorance and therefore begins to seek and call
upon his earthly friends such as Fellowship, Kindred, Cousin, and Goods. Everyman discovers that
one by one his acquaintances and possessions, whom he held dear to his heart and promised to be with
him till the end, all abandon him in his time of need.
After each friend desert Everyman and he is moaning and wondering who will go with him, he calls
upon Good Deeds whom he finds on the floor weak. Good Deeds is weak because Everyman has
made very few good deeds in his lifetime. Good Deeds calls on her sister Knowledge to help
Everyman go on his journey.

Juvenile Crime And Crime Rates
Juvenile crime is one of the nation s most serious problems. Concerns about it are generally
broadcasted by federal, state, and local government officials and by the public. In years prior, the
burden developed beginning with the dramatic rise in juvenile violence in the eighties reaching an all
time peak in the first part of the nineties. Even though juvenile crime rates seem to have lowered since
the mid nineties, the reduction has not eased the concern. Many states began taking strict statutory
stances toward juveniles in the late seventies and early eighties. This was an era in which juvenile
crime rates were steady or dropping slightly, while federal reformers were commending prevention
and less disciplinary actions. Some of the conflict between the federal program and what was
happening in the states at that time may have been initiated by substantial changes in legal measures
that made juvenile court procedures more similar, however not equal to those in adult (criminal) court.
The reaction to the most recent spike in vicious juvenile crime has been a portrayal of laws that
uphold blurred differences between juvenile courts and adult courts. Some states continued to
strengthen their juvenile crime laws over the years first by making sentencing more severe, two by
increasing allowable transfers to criminal court, or doing away with some of the discretion protections
of juvenile court. Many such changes were enacted after the juvenile violent crime rate had already

The Consequences Of Inventions In Ray Bradbury s The...
In Ray Bradbury s The Flying Machine , Bradbury claims that inventions, if used in the wrong hands
can have negative effects. There are several details that support this theme. First on page four,
paragraph eleven the emperor exclaims some other man who, seeing you, will build a thing of bright
papers and bamboo like this. But the other man will have an evil face and an evil heart, and the beauty
will be gone . The emperor is describing that the invention may have been intended to be used in
positive ways, but if the wrong person gets ahold of the idea then there can be negative consequences.
Furthermore on page five, paragraph one the emperor suggests who is to say, that someday just such a
man, in just such an apparatus of paper and reed, might not fly in the sky and drop huge stones upon
the Great Wall of China . The paragraph explains how a beautiful and seemingly ... Show more

Yet instead of wanting more the emperor is not wanting weapons, but isolationism just as America had
done in World War one and two. We didn t want more in our world, but there was always that person
who pushed for change. The inventor is a representation of that type of person. The emperor is
pushing the idea of change away just as America had done. On page three, paragraph fourteen the
inventor said I rose in the night and walked to the cliffs far away. And when the morning breezes blew
and the sun rose, I gathered my courage, Excellency, and leaped from the cliff . This paragraph gives
the reader the image of the inventor diving off the cliff into the sky, but also if the reader thought
figuratively they would see that when the inventor leaped from the cliff that little moment symbolized
a leap of fate . The inventor leaped into the future, but in the story the emperor does not care that the
inventor jumped from the cliff. This symbolizes that the emperor does not care for change, the
emperor wants to remain traditional and keep his country s values

The Theme Of Balance In Ursula Leguin s A Wizard Of Earthsea
The balance of light and dark has been off kilter forever and the balance has never been obtained! In
the fantasy novel A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula LeGuin, the battle of light and dark has subsided,
balance has been restored, and shows the journey of discovering one s identity. At the end of the
novel, when the shadow and Ged conjoin it can be seen as the realization of one s identity, as well the
discovering of balance. LeGuin uses symbols in the novel to convey what is happening on a deeper
level. At the beginning of the end, the sea turned into sand as Ged approached his shadow, which can
be seen as a balance, when two opposites, such as sea and sand, become one. It shows when two
opposites find a middle point and are at peace as opposed to constantly battering against one another.
This instance can also be seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Light and dark have been unbalanced, waging on since the beginning of time, until they find a balance
where each has met its match. When Ged, with his flaming white staff merges with the pitch black
shadow, and emerging as one may be seen as if they have made peace at a set point and created
equilibrium, as previously discussed by Yarrow and Ged. When this occurs, Ged finally becomes a
whole self by recognizing who he is, and his balance of positive and negative decisions .Also, in the
interaction between Ged and the shadow on the yin and yang island, Ged spoke his own name and
embraced the shadow. Ying and Yang are seen as a duality forming a whole so when Ged and the
shadow unite, it can symbolize discovering his whole identity. Since often times darkness represents
evil, it can be seen as when Ged embraced the shadow, he is accepting his past decisions and dark side
that can overcome him at any time. It is a part of growing up and finding who you really are, to realize
your past faults, and accept what you did and move

Critique Of The s Theory
Critique of Experiment 2
Many experiment fall folly due to the many factors they need to get correct. Like most studies the
practitioner needs to create a hypothesis that is actually testable and test it on a group of people they
can get. The participants are the foundation to the whole study. With them you are able to prove
whether your hypothesis was correct or not. These and many more factors are why psychological
studies are incredibly to execute and do properly.
The hypothesis of this study states, Participants who had been primed with the elderly stereotype
would walk more slowly compared to participants who had not been primed with the stereotype
relevant stimuli . This basically means that the experimenter believes that words related to the elderly
population and none related will affect the rate in which the participants walk. Their hypothesis seems
achievable because in my experiences I find that we as people relate to word association and because
of this our behaviors can be slightly modified to match the words presented. This hypothesis is seems
testable because it doesn t seem completely absurd due to the actual experiment they planned to
conduct.
In this specific study, they are aiming to construct an environment where participants will have to
unscramble words either related to elderly concepts or non elderly concepts. The participants chosen
from this study were all Undergraduate NYU students, 30 males and females. I think each participant

cut the final product out on the black poster board. On the bird I taped pictures of Jem, Scout, and
Atticus on there. Under the pictures I wrote and the name and the facts of that character. In the rest of
the space on the bird, I wrote down quotes with the page numbers from the book. I wrote on the poster
board with oil pastels. I chose to do this project because I think it is unique and creative. It is not just

Suleiman the Magnificent
The Ottoman Empire was an empire lasting from 1299 to 1923. Osman was leading the small Ottoman
Empire in 1299 in western Anatolia and he was slowly extending his settlements away from his
Muslim neighbors. It was not allowed for Muslims to kill other Muslims. He had a number of soldiers
called the Ghazis who were brave, loyal and fearless. These solders helped Osman tread into unknown
land and spread his rule. Osman s name was becoming more known and after his death, people called
him courageous strong and great. This is where the centuries old Turkish saying comes from: May he

If an enemy doesn t strike from outside, an enemy may strike from inside. A civil war can cause many
deaths and disrupt the focus of any leader. Suleiman would have to put all of his attention to people
fighting inside his nation instead of focusing on incoming attacks from the outside. A lot of empires
have fallen due to internal attacks. Interaction with other sectors was not too often which helps people
be in an environment where everyone follows the same religion. There is also almost no interference
from the government on how the leader chooses to run the Millets. Things like taxes and sometimes
even laws aren t checked by the government because there aren t any rules against having different
styles of living. Travelers from different religious backgrounds can now enter a land where they don t
have to be feared of not being able to walk in and get hurt because of their differences. This
encourages travelers, who are usually traders to come to this culturally diverse and peaceful land to
trade their goods, instead of going to Europe where only one religion was accepted: Christianity.
Suleiman put out the laws on streets so that all could read and understand what is allowed and what is
not. This was important because now everyone knew the difference between right and wrong. This
also prevented officials from making fake or arbitrary laws. The Millet system and publicly

of them. Many visitors found closure and rejoice in finding there loved ones names and leaving

boys lacrosse no matter what age you are you are allowed to check another player s stick. If you don t

knock it out and gain possession of the ball. But in girls lacrosse we are not always allowed to do that.

The Impact Of The Tulsa Race Riot On The Greenwood District
How did the Tulsa Race Riot of 1921 impact the Greenwood District
The Tulsa Race Riot impacted so many people and all it gets is a paragraph or one page in an
Oklahoma history textbook. This event put Tulsa on the map and it barely gets any recognition. How
are people supposed to change the world if information is constantly hidden? The riot didn t
completely leave a negative impact. Don t be fooled, it was terrible and extremely destructive, but
some good came out of it. For example, in my case I swell with pride when I hear about how
successful and booming the black community was in Tulsa. It makes me appreciate my hometown and
what it has to offer. The Tulsa Race Riot of 1921 impacted the Greenwood District by creating more
roots in Tulsa, destroying the lives and homes of families, and hiding the significance of Greenwood
and how prosperous it was.
Where does someone get their views, traditions, and fears from if they don t identify with a culture?
There is literally a culture for everything. There s a millennial culture, gaming culture, food culture,
etc. you name it! Culture itself is the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement
regarded collectively. Whether one knows it or not, they identify with something. In the book Tulsa s

education and social class. Usually when conferring about these two aspects, social class and
underachievement becomes the focus of attention. Working class children experience a much greater
cultural clash when they enter school than those from more privellaged homes (Giddens and Griffiths,
2006, p.710). Gillborn and Youdell (2000) took this further suggesting how teachers believed that
ability was fixed (Darmody, Tyrrell and Song, 2011) and saw working class pupils as having less
ability and as lower achievers. Dunne and Gazeley (2008) also believe that underachievers came from
working class backgrounds and were labelled as underachievers which resulted in many internalizing
it and living up to the self fulfilling prophecy. Both sociologists defined working class
underachievement in a manner which was beyond outside their control by locating their reasoning on
aspects such as a low quality of life at home for such individuals (Lawson, Heaton and Brown, 2010).
And reflected in the minutiae of teachers perception and interactions with students (Youdell, 2006,
p.15) this is when teachers expectations of working class students as lazy trouble some and middle
class pupils as bright (Hargreaves, 1967) is translated into actual outcomes affecting the educational
achievement of different social classes.

New York Times Argument
1. After reading the New York Times editorial and the National Review article, is one argument
stronger than the other? In my opinion, the New York Times argument is stronger than the National
Review s. In the situation there is a leader which is the commander, and subordinates which are the
platoons. To hold a higher position comes with great responsibility among the minority. That is why
they are minority , for they rely on the decision coming from the officials. Thus, they bear lesser
liability of the aftermath that the officials have directed them to carry out. 2. Who was to blame:
Calley, the two platoons, the commanding officers, or the American people? Technically, whoever pull

Essay on Trojan War
Did the Trojan War occur?
The existence of a war in Troy is undeniable; however it is not the Trojan war of Homer s Iliad. It is
believed that Homer s account may have been based on a real event therefore having some truth but
due to the mythological nature of the source, the unreliability of oral transmission and the exaggerated
romantic theme, the account is not a valid source for historians. Written evidence such as the Hittite
records and the different theories presented by archaeologists Schliemann, Dorpfield, Blegen and
Korfmann strongly suggest the occurrence of a war in troy and have some links to the Iliad. Despite
these links, there is only enough evidence to support the existence of a war in Troy but not explicitly

Heinrich Schliemann was one of the first archaeologists who discovered the site based on geological
descriptions in Homer s Iliad. Through the excavation of the site, Schliemann uncovered nine major
layers on the mound and concluded that level 2 was Homer s Troy. Archaeologists who came later
criticised Schliemann s amateurish excavation methods and concluded that level two was too early to
be the Homeric Troy. Despite Schliemann s destruction and false claims of the site, his discovery of
Hissarlik proved that there is some truth to Homer s account and deserves some credit for setting the
foundation for archaeologists such as Blegen, Dorpfield and Korfmann. Schliemann s discovery of the
site proved that there is no doubt Troy existed and that the city s destruction was definite.
Wilhelm Dorpfield was one of many archaeologists who began excavations and studies at Hissarlik.
Level VI was the level that Dorpfield believes is the legendary Troy. He argued that Level VI fitted
Homer s description as being a grand city surrounded by high limestone walls. However, there was no
evidence of Greek camps outside the walls of the city that supported Homer s account of a ten year
siege, thus leading us to conclude that Level VIIa must ve been the Homeric Troy. Layers of charcoal
uncovered by Korfmann that dated to roughly 1250 BC, the approximate end of Homer s Troy is

Heroin Research Papers
Imagine a little boy sitting in the back of a car with his grandma and her boyfriend passed out in the
front seat. The situation just described is real. This actually happened to a little boy not too long ago,
and it was caused by an overdose of the poisonous drug heroin. Heroin has become a large problem in
the United States. It is highly addictive, making it very dangerous. It threatens lives, especially since
the number of abusers is so high. Since heroin is so addictive, many people have come to abuse it,
making it one of the most common and dangerous drugs used in the United States. A popular drug
most commonly known as heroin can also be referred to as Big H, Brown Sugar, Junk, or Horse. It can
be sticky and tar like, or hard and coal like depending on what type is being used. Heroin is taken by
injecting, snorting, or smoking it. Heroin is a narcotic drug, meaning it relieves pain. The botanical
name for this natural drug is Opium poppy, which is the name of the plant it comes from. A common
painkiller, morphine, also comes from this plant. To create heroin, morphine has to be synthesized. In

Climate Change Has A Negative Impact On Polar Bears
Climate change has a negative impact on polar bears. This may prove to be a burden to their existence.
Polar bears are some of the world s most majestic animals but their survival is being threatened
because of climate change. Because of this change their habitat is also diminishing.
Historically speaking by the late 1980s and early 1990s, the likelihood that climate warming would
have negative effects on sea ice was gaining recognition. Climate change happens when certain gasses
block heat from escaping the atmosphere. Most scientists agree the cause of this trend is human
expansion of the greenhouse effect. One of the most common gasses and its importance on this
greenhouse effect is methane, a hydrocarbon gas produced both through natural sources and human
activities, including the decomposition of wastes in landfills, agriculture, and especially rice
cultivation, as well as ruminant digestion and manure management associated with domestic livestock.
On a molecule for molecule basis, methane is a far more active greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide,
but also one which is much less abundant in the atmosphere. Over time this greenhouse effect causes
the earth s atmosphere to warm causing some regions to become warmer than others resulting in
changing climates. This change in climate may produce more or less precipitation depending on the
region.
Polar bears need ice to move around so they can easily find food to sustain life. Some areas provide
sea ice year round and in

It s Just Not Natural Essay
There is a saying that goes Don t be afraid of the dark, but the question is why should you be afraid?
One reason why this saying came about is because people believe that something non human exists
out there. People believe that witches, shapeshifters, hellhounds, ghosts, angels, demons, jinns, and
many more supernatural creatures exist. Only 21 percent of Americans say they don t believe in the
supernatural at all ( Paranormal Poll: Americans... ). Although many people may not voice or express
their belief in the supernatural; they tend to be curious and question the existence of the supernatural
at least once in their life. There is a surprising amount of literature, lore and real life accounts that

These are said to get a high reading of electromagnetic frequencies whenever a spirit is present. A lot
of people think the readings are fabricated, from the EMF detector having a malfunction and short
circuiting from a wiring problem, but there is an explanation behind the readings. Einstein had a
theory that energy can be converted into matter and matter into energy ( Six Types of Hauntings ).
Because people are made up of matter, on a level it is believed that we in a way also exist as energy
and this energy surrounds us while we live. This energy that surrounds us is sometimes known as an
aura. It surrounds us and projects our thoughts and feelings around us. When we die, people are said to
lose six ounces instantly. Some people believe that the reason we instantly become lighter is because
when we die the aura that constantly surrounds our bodies, leaves our bodies ( Six Types of Hauntings
). Although many people doubt the existence of auras, it explains the weight loss at death and the
reason why ghosts can be picked up by EMF meters. Spirits tend to be peaceful, but slightly sorrowful
, mourning a life that has passed them. The reasons why a spirit may stay around is because it felt
incomplete with it s previous life and still believes that it has a purpose to serve whether watching out
for a loved one, keeping watch over people who live in the spirits old house, or maybe even reliving
moments of their life that they can t let go of yet. Most ghosts tend to

Essay on Envy and Beauty in Snow White
Envy, Beauty, and Snow White Few people can grow up within today s society without knowing the
tale of Snow White. From the Grimm Brothers to Disney, it has been told and retold to children
throughout the ages. However, what is often overlooked are the true meanings within the story.
Fairytales typically have underlying messages that can be found written between the lines, generally in
terms of the key themes. Snow White discusses the themes of envy and beauty, and shows how
humans obsessions can lead to their own downfall as well as the harm of others. When focusing on the
relationship between Snow White and her step mother the Queen, it is evident that the combination of
these two themes results in a power struggle in which beauty ... Show more content on

Trina Schart Hyman reiterates this point in her analysis of story, particularly in examining the Queen,
where the ?only power was her beauty. She didn?t think about [Snow White] as a person. She hated
only what Snow White symbolized, which was youth and the power and beauty of youth? (Haase,
2003). It is interesting to note that when the Queen receives Snow White?s heart, she eats it. ?And [the
heart] was salted and cooked and the wicked woman ate it up, thinking that there was an end of Snow
White? (Grimm and Grimm 168). This is a remnant of a primitive cannibalistic belief that one
receives power and characters through what is consumed. By devouring what she is told to be Snow
White?s heart, the Queen believes she is capturing Snow White?s beauty and power within herself
(Sale, 1979). These instances show that the Queen was driven to act by her envy of Snow White?s
beauty, which was said to be more beautiful than her own. As she saw Snow White?s beauty as a
threat to her own (and through it, her power), she saw the need to eliminate Snow White completely.
In consuming Snow White?s heart not only is she celebrating her triumph over Snow White, but she is
reinforcing her own beauty and vitality. However, as those who are familiar with the story know, this
was not the end of Snow White. When the Queen finds out Snow White escapes death from the
huntsman and ends up living with seven dwarfs, she still considered Snow White a

Two Reasons Why Mother Teresa Is A Hero
Attention Grabbing Device
Imagine people everywhere, lining alleyways. Homeless families begging for food and diseases
running rampant on the streets. These are the slums of Calcutta, India. Life in this city is miserable,
desperation pervades this hopeless environment. But within there s still some optimism to be found.
Strangely enough, it comes in the form of a woman, barely five feet tall, and armed with nothing but
kindness.
Thesis
Mother Teresa is a hero because she is selfless, courageous, and has strong leadership abilities.
Bio
Mother Teresa was born in Skopje, Macedonia in 1910. At the age of 18 she joined a group of nuns in
Ireland. After months of training with the Sisters of Loreto, she traveled to India. She took her

Mother Teresa gave up everything just to help those less fortunate. For example, in 1979 she won a
Nobel Peace Prize with $192,000 worth of prize money and instead of keeping she used it to create
multiple homes for victims of leprosy. She was commemorated with the highest honor, yet she was
still thinking of others.
The second reason Mother Teresa is a hero is because she is courageous. For instance, many people
could have shunned her for helping the unwanted, but she found the courage and strength in her heart
to help those in need. Also, she helped a particular group that had leprosy, which is a very contagious
disease. She set up many clinics in order to help these people even though she put herself at risk of
catching the disease.
The final reason Mother Teresa is a hero is because she was a strong leader. This trait can be
exemplified because she had a relentless focus on her mission helping the poor. She effectively
implemented her plan and cared for the people of Calcutta. Mother Teresa was a situational leader, for
example she helped people according to their situation, if they were starving she would give them
food, if they were homeless she would provide a home for them to say at, or if they were sick she
helped them to heal. If a situation came, she would find a solution to help them in some

Environmental Justice Issue Of Environmental...
Introduction I propose to add the environmental justice issue of environmental discrimination into the
Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. To do so, I will investigate specific issues and regulation
deficiencies that are negatively impacting the Great Lakes reserves, and develop a plan of action on
your behalf. As you are aware, protecting the Great Lakes is critically important. It is not only the
largest source of freshwater in the United States but in the whole world. Indiana, Illinois, Michigan,
Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin border the Great Lakes, and all of those
states use it as a water source for a total of about 10 million people. Since the passing of the Clean
Water Act, industries like U.S. Steel Industry have been using the loopholes found in the bill to further
their profit, and as a side effect has caused damage to the water supply, disproportionately affecting
people in marginalized communities. By using these loopholes, the Great Lakes are continually
polluted, which causes appalling damage to the millions of people who use the water for drinking and
other water centric necessities. Also, aging infrastructure causes leaking pipes, corroding pipes that
jeopardize the water systems, and failing sewage treatment plants. These infrastructure problems not
only disproportionate effect marginalized communities but all communities suffer when the Great
Lakes become polluted. Since there is already an initiative to combat

Classroom Management For Students With Emotional And...
One of the most important aspects of teachers is managing their classroom effectively with both
management and structure. Creating Classroom Rules for Students with Emotional and Behavioral
Disorders: A Decision Making Guide ( Kostewicz, Ruhl, Kubina, 2008) described classroom
management strategies as well as provided six step by step clear rule decision making questions.
Emotional and Behavioral Disorder (EDB) students have a reputation when entering a classroom
creating a significant challenge for classroom teachers. Throughout the day students with EBD are in
different classroom settings with multiple teachers and staff members, which can cause a variety of
rules and boundaries. These students often will be classified as aggressive, disruptive, and unfocused.
Teachers are often re teaching, re telling, or re focusing EBD students in the classroom to deal with
negative behavior. Effective classroom rules are used to promote student accountability in the
classroom. Since EBD students have deficits in language, social interactions and communicative
skills, these skills need to be first and foremost addressed in a well designed classroom management
guide. By having the guide in place in each of the student s classrooms provides a routine and
structured day which is beneficial. Additionally classroom rules have always felt more negative versus
positive. However, the teacher attempts to set up these rules to maximize the classroom environment
in order to achieve learning.

High Performance Teams
In today s business world, more and more organizations are moving away from the use of individual
work assignments to a combination of manager led and self directing teams. These businesses are
relying on groups of unique individuals to come together and work on a common goal with a shared
purpose. The ultimate goal for these teams are to produce more than what the individuals could do
separately. In order for those teams to accomplish this, they must become high performance teams.
High performance teams consist of a small number of individuals with complementary skills, who are
committed to a specific goal and mutually agree to hold each other accountable for their results. Those
teams who make it to this level experience autonomy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If it is a known fact that individuals tend to compare themselves to each other, then why are leaders in
organizations so surprised that conflict, rivalry, or competition amongst team members occurs? Part of
the reason is because while organizations have changed their thinking from an individualistic form of
production to a collectivist form of teams, they have failed to change their form of recognition,
incentives, motives, and culture to match. Organizations are promoting the idea of teams and working
together for a common goal and purpose, all while offering incentives that are unchanged from the
original idea of individual motivation and it is creating competition rather than the cooperation that
they need for high performance teams (Beersma, Hollenbeck, Humphrey, Moon, Conlon, Ilgen, 2003).
Unfortunately, there has been considerable controversy over the idea of competition and cooperation
in teams. Some research shows that competition is beneficial, while others show that it creates the
conflict organizations are trying to avoid. Therefore, it is important to examine the idea of competition
and cooperation and seek to decide which is better to pursue. According to Scarborough (2012) one of
the best qualities of business leaders or entrepreneurs is a competitive nature. So, if

  • 2. Crimes Against Humanity Throughout history there has been many crimes against humanity and most are still ongoing. Crimes against humanity is respectively when people are murdered, raped and tortured although it may involve more than that. Many of these acts of violence go unheard which permits them to keep occurring. In regard to crimes against humanity I strongly believe that all the nations around the world should step in to help as a collective to stop these crimes. The self interest of the nation as a whole should come first but the leaders and people of these nations should feel morally compelled to intervene and help. Millions of people are being affected directly or indirectly from genocide or violent crimes and nothing is being done to stop it. The efforts of the nations stepping in would save millions of innocent people. Groups like the united nations should also play a role in ending all the violence that occurs in the international community. There has been many times when more could have been done by the united nations. If nothing is going to be done there will never be peace or even a slight chance of it. The following genocides impacted the lives of billions of people. The holocaust, Rwanda genocide and Sudan genocide were three major crimes against humanity that have affected our international community forever. The holocaust was one of the biggest crimes against humanity that has occured throughout history. The holocaust was a genocide that happened in World War 2 killing an estimated 17 million people. The main goal behind the holocaust was for Nazi Germany, which was led by Adolf Hitler to exterminate all the jewish people. This traumatic event began in January of 1993 and didn t end till May of 1945, this time frame was traumatizing for anyone who experienced it or heard of it. Adolf Hitler was a ultra nationalistic leader and took everything he did to the extreme. He found that the people of pure german descent were racially superior to all the other races especially those of jewish descent. If someone didn t qualify to be within the superior race they abstained an excessive amount of abuse physically and mentally. Nazi Germany formed concentration camps where they would work people to death or exterminate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Reverse Discrimination In The United States Lately the United States media has been focused on the unfair treatment many people receive based on their skin tone, whether it is the recent police brutality against African Americans or the focuses the 2018 presidential election has put on illegal immigration. Unfortunately the media has avidly avoided any subject that may be considered reverse discrimination also known as reverse racism. Reverse discrimination is a phenomenon in which members of majority groups receive unfair treatment in attempt to remedy earlier discrimination against minorities. Many people believe that reverse discrimination is becoming more prevalent part of modern society, by creating equal opportunity s this issue can be easily reduced. Reverse discrimination has become a joke with in many minority communities, approximately seven in ten black (74%) and Hispanic Americans (70%) do not believe discrimination against whites is as big of a problem as discrimination against other groups (Public Religion Research Institute 38). This is because many people hold the opinion that only minorities can be discriminated against. According to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Race ... • 5. Methanol Plant In Tacoma Would you be up for having the largest methanol plant in the world next to your city? Most people wouldn t. This would be a bigger con than pro for Tacoma. It would cause environmental issues, and can be dangerous. One reason this would be a bad idea is because it would cause a lot of pollution, and more than Tacoma already has. Another reason this would be bad idea is because if something goes wrong, it can cause a lot of problems and can potentially be dangerous. This is why a methanol plant in Tacoma, WA would be a bad idea. First of all, one reason building a methanol plant in Tacoma is a bad idea is because it would consume too much of our resources. One detail that supports the claim is in the text, Proposed Methanol Plant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One detail that supports the claim is in the text The News Tribune , Unknown amounts of airborne irritants, volatile, organic compounds, and carbon will be released into the air. This detail supports the claim because Tacoma already has pollution, and if we keep adding it, it will only get worse. It also supports this because the more we add, the more Tacoma will start to smell bad. Another detail that supports the claim is in the text, NW Innovation Works , While taxpayers have paid tens of millions of dollars to remediate the former smelter site, it remains polluted to this day. This detail supports my answer because this proves that it i already polluted, and they cannot fix it now, so we keep adding to it, it will become way worse and will become unfixable. The last detail that supports the claim is in the text The Seattle Times , So, even though the Tacoma and Kalama projects would increase Washington state s use of a fossil fuel, Inslee and other state officials have promoted the deal as a way to reduce the global release of greenhouse gases, which scientists say are driving climate change. This detail supports the claim because even though it can be beneficial, in the long run it would still cause climate change, which is bad for the environment. This is another way a methanol plant in Tacoma would be bad. Overall, the methanol plant in Tacoma would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Symbolism In Tangerine By Edward Bloor Every day, people often get themselves in positions where they are presented with appearance known to be deceptive. Based on the appearance, a false truth hides beneath an exceptional display. People, objects, and buildings are entirely taken by people s perspectives. This is the theme that the book Tangerine illustrates. The novel Tangerine, written by Edward Bloor, is about Paul Fisher, a boy having to go through many situations where a false reality surrounds his life. Bloor uses Erik Fisher and the Tangerine County to reveal that reality is often far from what it appears to be. The first symbol Edward Bloor uses is Erik Fisher. Erik Fisher is a high school football star without impaired vision unlike his brother, Paul (Burch 27). As Paul finds out, his eyes were damaged from Erik. Paul states, I remembered Erik s fingers prying my eyelids open while Vincent Castor sprayed white paint into them (255). This shows that Paul did not realize the dark past behind his disability and that Erik could have done such a thing to him since Erik s external shape is much clearer than the looking of himself. Another reality behind Erik s typical appearance is that he orders his sidekick, Arthur Bauer to murder Luis Cruz (275). Not even enough with this, Erik stoles the jewelry from his neighborhood ... • 7. The Biological Theory And Gender Essay This has been a very interesting class and while reviewing for this paper, I realized I will take away more than I originally though in the way of instruction and understanding. When I first started, I assumed gender communication was how male and females communicate. While I still hold to some of my original theory s regarding gender, many of my views have changed. Additionally, this study as made me aware of what a complicated issue gender is going way beyond the male female sex. In our reading, Wood states (2009) We are born male or female (sex), but we learn to act in masculine and/or feminine ways (gender) (Woods, p. 23). We examined three theoretical approaches to Gender in an effort to understand why we act feminine or masculine. These theories not only provide information, but influence our thoughts and behaviors towards others (Woods, p. 39). The Biological Theory maintains biological characteristics are the bases of gender differences a sub group within this is Sociobiology or the evolutionary theory whose focus is on reproduction to ensure survival. (Woods, p. 40,41). Interpersonal theories include the psychodynamic theory stating it is the first relationship that establishes gender identity, Psychological theory focusing on communication as the key to gender identity, Social learning theory states we learn how to act masculine and feminine from the responses of those around us, with the Cognitive Development theory focuses on gender consistency and that ... Death dispenses the bad news that his day of reckoning for his sins has come and he must give account to God. Upon hearing that his time has come to an end he begins to fear his journey to go before God and give an answer to how he lived his life on earth. Everyman bribes Death to give him another day. Everyman s argument is that Death did not give him a warning and now he wants to find a companion to accompany him on this journey of reckoning. As time nears Everyman struggles with his ignorance and therefore begins to seek and call upon his earthly friends such as Fellowship, Kindred, Cousin, and Goods. Everyman discovers that one by one his acquaintances and possessions, whom he held dear to his heart and promised to be with him till the end, all abandon him in his time of need. • 9. Juvenile Crime And Crime Rates Juvenile crime is one of the nation s most serious problems. Concerns about it are generally broadcasted by federal, state, and local government officials and by the public. In years prior, the burden developed beginning with the dramatic rise in juvenile violence in the eighties reaching an all time peak in the first part of the nineties. Even though juvenile crime rates seem to have lowered since the mid nineties, the reduction has not eased the concern. Many states began taking strict statutory stances toward juveniles in the late seventies and early eighties. This was an era in which juvenile crime rates were steady or dropping slightly, while federal reformers were commending prevention and less disciplinary actions. Some of the conflict between the federal program and what was happening in the states at that time may have been initiated by substantial changes in legal measures that made juvenile court procedures more similar, however not equal to those in adult (criminal) court. The reaction to the most recent spike in vicious juvenile crime has been a portrayal of laws that uphold blurred differences between juvenile courts and adult courts. Some states continued to strengthen their juvenile crime laws over the years first by making sentencing more severe, two by increasing allowable transfers to criminal court, or doing away with some of the discretion protections of juvenile court. Many such changes were enacted after the juvenile violent crime rate had already ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Consequences Of Inventions In Ray Bradbury s The... In Ray Bradbury s The Flying Machine , Bradbury claims that inventions, if used in the wrong hands can have negative effects. There are several details that support this theme. First on page four, paragraph eleven the emperor exclaims some other man who, seeing you, will build a thing of bright papers and bamboo like this. But the other man will have an evil face and an evil heart, and the beauty will be gone . The emperor is describing that the invention may have been intended to be used in positive ways, but if the wrong person gets ahold of the idea then there can be negative consequences. Furthermore on page five, paragraph one the emperor suggests who is to say, that someday just such a man, in just such an apparatus of paper and reed, might not fly in the sky and drop huge stones upon the Great Wall of China . The paragraph explains how a beautiful and seemingly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yet instead of wanting more the emperor is not wanting weapons, but isolationism just as America had done in World War one and two. We didn t want more in our world, but there was always that person who pushed for change. The inventor is a representation of that type of person. The emperor is pushing the idea of change away just as America had done. On page three, paragraph fourteen the inventor said I rose in the night and walked to the cliffs far away. And when the morning breezes blew and the sun rose, I gathered my courage, Excellency, and leaped from the cliff . This paragraph gives the reader the image of the inventor diving off the cliff into the sky, but also if the reader thought figuratively they would see that when the inventor leaped from the cliff that little moment symbolized a leap of fate . The inventor leaped into the future, but in the story the emperor does not care that the inventor jumped from the cliff. This symbolizes that the emperor does not care for change, the emperor wants to remain traditional and keep his country s values ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Theme Of Balance In Ursula Leguin s A Wizard Of Earthsea The balance of light and dark has been off kilter forever and the balance has never been obtained! In the fantasy novel A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula LeGuin, the battle of light and dark has subsided, balance has been restored, and shows the journey of discovering one s identity. At the end of the novel, when the shadow and Ged conjoin it can be seen as the realization of one s identity, as well the discovering of balance. LeGuin uses symbols in the novel to convey what is happening on a deeper level. At the beginning of the end, the sea turned into sand as Ged approached his shadow, which can be seen as a balance, when two opposites, such as sea and sand, become one. It shows when two opposites find a middle point and are at peace as opposed to constantly battering against one another. This instance can also be seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Ged, with his flaming white staff merges with the pitch black shadow, and emerging as one may be seen as if they have made peace at a set point and created equilibrium, as previously discussed by Yarrow and Ged. When this occurs, Ged finally becomes a whole self by recognizing who he is, and his balance of positive and negative decisions .Also, in the interaction between Ged and the shadow on the yin and yang island, Ged spoke his own name and embraced the shadow. Ying and Yang are seen as a duality forming a whole so when Ged and the shadow unite, it can symbolize discovering his whole identity. Since often times darkness represents evil, it can be seen as when Ged embraced the shadow, he is accepting his past decisions and dark side that can overcome him at any time. • 12. Critique Of The s Theory Critique of Experiment 2 Many experiment fall folly due to the many factors they need to get correct. Like most studies the practitioner needs to create a hypothesis that is actually testable and test it on a group of people they can get. The participants are the foundation to the whole study. With them you are able to prove whether your hypothesis was correct or not. These and many more factors are why psychological studies are incredibly to execute and do properly. The hypothesis of this study states, Participants who had been primed with the elderly stereotype would walk more slowly compared to participants who had not been primed with the stereotype relevant stimuli . This basically means that the experimenter believes that words related to the elderly population and none related will affect the rate in which the participants walk. Their hypothesis seems achievable because in my experiences I find that we as people relate to word association and because of this our behaviors can be slightly modified to match the words presented. This hypothesis is seems testable because it doesn t seem completely absurd due to the actual experiment they planned to conduct. In this specific study, they are aiming to construct an environment where participants will have to unscramble words either related to elderly concepts or non elderly concepts. The participants chosen from this study were all Undergraduate NYU students, 30 males and females. I think each participant qualifies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Impact Of The Tulsa Race Riot On The Greenwood District How did the Tulsa Race Riot of 1921 impact the Greenwood District The Tulsa Race Riot impacted so many people and all it gets is a paragraph or one page in an Oklahoma history textbook. The riot didn t completely leave a negative impact. Don t be fooled, it was terrible and extremely destructive, but some good came out of it. • 20. Social Class And Underachievement In Sociology Pursuing this discussion further, it could be implied that there is a connection drawn between education and social class. Usually when conferring about these two aspects, social class and underachievement becomes the focus of attention. Working class children experience a much greater cultural clash when they enter school than those from more privellaged homes (Giddens and Griffiths, 2006, p.710). Gillborn and Youdell (2000) took this further suggesting how teachers believed that ability was fixed (Darmody, Tyrrell and Song, 2011) and saw working class pupils as having less ability and as lower achievers. Dunne and Gazeley (2008) also believe that underachievers came from working class backgrounds and were labelled as underachievers which resulted in many internalizing it and living up to the self fulfilling prophecy. Both sociologists defined working class underachievement in a manner which was beyond outside their control by locating their reasoning on aspects such as a low quality of life at home for such individuals (Lawson, Heaton and Brown, 2010). And reflected in the minutiae of teachers perception and interactions with students (Youdell, 2006, p.15) this is when teachers expectations of working class students as lazy trouble some and middle class pupils as bright (Hargreaves, 1967) is translated into actual outcomes affecting the educational achievement of different social classes. ... Despite Schliemann s destruction and false claims of the site, his discovery of Hissarlik proved that there is some truth to Homer s account and deserves some credit for setting the foundation for archaeologists such as Blegen, Dorpfield and Korfmann. Polar bears are some of the world s most majestic animals but their survival is being threatened because of climate change. Because of this change their habitat is also diminishing. Historically speaking by the late 1980s and early 1990s, the likelihood that climate warming would have negative effects on sea ice was gaining recognition. Climate change happens when certain gasses block heat from escaping the atmosphere. Most scientists agree the cause of this trend is human expansion of the greenhouse effect. One of the most common gasses and its importance on this greenhouse effect is methane, a hydrocarbon gas produced both through natural sources and human activities, including the decomposition of wastes in landfills, agriculture, and especially rice cultivation, as well as ruminant digestion and manure management associated with domestic livestock. On a molecule for molecule basis, methane is a far more active greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide, but also one which is much less abundant in the atmosphere. Over time this greenhouse effect causes the earth s atmosphere to warm causing some regions to become warmer than others resulting in changing climates. This change in climate may produce more or less precipitation depending on the region. Polar bears need ice to move around so they can easily find food to sustain life. Because people are made up of matter, on a level it is believed that we in a way also exist as energy and this energy surrounds us while we live. This energy that surrounds us is sometimes known as an aura. It surrounds us and projects our thoughts and feelings around us. When we die, people are said to lose six ounces instantly. From the Grimm Brothers to Disney, it has been told and retold to children throughout the ages. However, what is often overlooked are the true meanings within the story. Fairytales typically have underlying messages that can be found written between the lines, generally in terms of the key themes. Snow White discusses the themes of envy and beauty, and shows how humans obsessions can lead to their own downfall as well as the harm of others. It is interesting to note that when the Queen receives Snow White?s heart, she eats it. ?And [the heart] was salted and cooked and the wicked woman ate it up, thinking that there was an end of Snow White? (Grimm and Grimm 168). This is a remnant of a primitive cannibalistic belief that one receives power and characters through what is consumed. By devouring what she is told to be Snow White?s heart, the Queen believes she is capturing Snow White?s beauty and power within herself (Sale, 1979). These instances show that the Queen was driven to act by her envy of Snow White?s beauty, which was said to be more beautiful than her own. As she saw Snow White?s beauty as a threat to her own (and through it, her power), she saw the need to eliminate Snow White completely. In consuming Snow White?s heart not only is she celebrating her triumph over Snow White, but she is reinforcing her own beauty and vitality. She was commemorated with the highest honor, yet she was still thinking of others. The second reason Mother Teresa is a hero is because she is courageous. Creating Classroom Rules for Students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders: A Decision Making Guide ( Kostewicz, Ruhl, Kubina, 2008) described classroom management strategies as well as provided six step by step clear rule decision making questions. Emotional and Behavioral Disorder (EDB) students have a reputation when entering a classroom creating a significant challenge for classroom teachers. Throughout the day students with EBD are in different classroom settings with multiple teachers and staff members, which can cause a variety of rules and boundaries. These students often will be classified as aggressive, disruptive, and unfocused. Teachers are often re teaching, re telling, or re focusing EBD students in the classroom to deal with negative behavior. Effective classroom rules are used to promote student accountability in the classroom. Since EBD students have deficits in language, social interactions and communicative skills, these skills need to be first and foremost addressed in a well designed classroom management guide. By having the guide in place in each of the student s classrooms provides a routine and structured day which is beneficial.
