1. Tobin s emotional state directly affects the messages he delivers and how it is received. How does
Tobin s tone and word choice affects how information is received?
A person s state of emotions, tone, facial expressions and body language can diversely affect how their
message is perceived by peers. Nonverbal messages accompany and influence verbal messages. It can
establish the mood for the conversations to follow. The same message can be perceived in different
ways, depending on the delivery and interpersonal skills of the speaker. Interpersonal communication
must be practiced with guidelines of active listening, interpersonal competence, and conflict
management, to name just a few.
In the first video, Tobin seems to be disengaged in his meeting with his team leaders. His hands are
fidgeting and does not maintain continual eye contact to each team leader throughout. His facial
expressions don t change much and seem to portray a stern stance. He doesn t show any positive facial
expressions such a smiling. He uses the filler word uh quite often throughout his delivery. This

The Disabled in the Game of Thrones Bringing Elsewhere Home: A Song of Ice and Fire s Ethics of
Disability by Pascal J. Massie and Lauryn S. Mayer focuses on the disabled in the popular book and tv
series Game of Thrones. Season one episode 4 of the Game of Thrones titled, Cripples, Bastards and
Broken Things , features several characters that suffer from either an internal or external disability.
However, the primary two examples of disabled characters are Bran Stark and Tyrion Lannister. Both
characters suffer from very different disabilities, and unfortunately they live in a pseudo medieval
society in which disabilities are highly frowned upon. Their social status in society is highly afflicted
by their handicaps, but they are also lucky that they are from noble houses that help elevate their
status. Both characters have and develop different ways to deal with their handicap. Bran Stark, is bed
ridden after suffering a horrible fall from a tower that caused him to be paralyzed from the waist
down. Although not shown in this episode, Bran was pushed from the tower due to the fact that he had
seen something he was not meant to see. Bran is crushed by his disability at first, it makes him feel

The typical country does not approve of citizens killing other beings, and yet the typical country
approves of war. War is the term for legalized mass murdering that is organized being that not all

problems than it solves. The effects of this glorified engagement are demonstrated and analyzed
within the novels Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo and Born on the Fourth of July by Ron
Kovic. These two novels are the stories of two soldiers who went into two different wars that caused

research is resurfacing once again posing the question, Do violent video games influence or cause
extreme aggressive behavior and cognition? The research suggests that while violent video games may
stimulate internal arousal, there is no evidence to support the theory that violent video games actually
cause or provoke adolescents to commit violent crimes. Around 90% of children in the United States
play video games. 80 % of video game sales are violent games. Juvenile crime and arrest rates have
declined 48% since 1996 indicating that violent video games do not prompt adolescents to commit
violent crimes.

Alexie s short story Indian Education from his book The Longer Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven
is set in two places, the Spokane Indian Reservation and a farm town nearby the reservation. The story

moment from each year he is in school. Alexie addresses the issue of racism in education by

Once there was a little girl named Marie. She was running from the man when she spotted the old
building they called Lidtke Mill. She ran into the building to get away from the man that was chasing
her. When she ran inside, it was pitch black. She tried to find her way through the building, tripping
over the rubble caused by people and storms over the years. While Marie was tripping over the rubble,
she heard a horrible screeching noise. She was already scared enough before that noise came. Marie

Marie was scared but brave as she felt around for a hole in the wall or a door. Marie felt something out
of the ordinary. It was all fuzzy and was standing up. She noticed that the little light came back into

bit lighter up in the attic because of the small square window. She liked it up there much better even
though it wasn t any safer. First off, the thing that is chasing her could still be up there and second, the
building is falling apart piece by piece. As she started to walk, the wood creaked and splinters of wood
