Role Of Marketing Using Integrated Marketing...
In recent times, there has been a shift from mass marketing using mass communication to relationship
marketing using Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC). This shift has developed an emphasis
on interaction and relationship building. IMC is the dominant communications marketing approach
favoured by many organisations as together the various communication functions create synergy
(Belch Belch, 2012, chapter 1) that consequently builds reputability; short term financial returns and
long term brand value (Schultz Schultz, 2003). This argument will be developed through a discussion
and examples of various IMC communication functions, with reference to the greater strategic results
are possible with the successful use of IMC these include but are not limited to the development of
relationships and brand identity and the ability to target various and specific audiences. The above will
be discussed with reference to theorists Belch and Belch (2012), Percy (2014) and Schultz and Schultz
(2003) among others, and the Tourism New Zealand 100% Pure New Zealand IMC campaign in order
to provide a cohesive and integrated argument.
In order to understand why IMC is the dominant approach; one must first have a cohesive
understanding of what IMC entails. IMC as Schultz and Schultz (2003), Clow and Baack (2007) and
Belch and Belch (2012) explain is a strategic business process whereby all marketing communication
tools and avenues are integrated seamlessly to ensure the greatest

Frailty Syndrome As Elderly Individuals Essay
Life expectancy has increased dramatically in the last century due primarily to the control of
infectious diseases, especially in the younger cohorts and the improvement of medical care and
nutrition. This has, however, resulted in a large percentage of the older population suffering chronic
diseases.
The population within Canada is aging and we are living longer than we have in the past. According to
Statistics Canada (2012), from 1920 1922, a man s average lifespan was 59 years of age and a woman
s average lifespan was 61 years of age; in 2012, this has now increased to 79 for men and 83 for
women. This increasing lifespan has created a new frontier in the health and wellbeing of the elderly
as it has resulted in a consequent increase in complex health care needs of elderly people with Frailty
Syndrome. Fried et al. (2005) identify Frailty Syndrome as elderly individuals meeting three out of
five phenotypic criteria indicating compromised energetics: low grip strength, low energy, slowed
walking speed, low physical activity, and/or
Health care systems across Canada are becoming strained by this aging cohort and will continue to
become even more so in the coming years. It is estimated that the number of frail elderly in Canada
will double to well over 2 million within the next 20 years (Young, 2015, pg. 1) and it is imperative
that we look at how we are going to be able to support this through changes in our healthcare system.
One means of doing this is to create more

Analysis Of The Book The Holy Spirit
One of the most prominent features of the Holy Spirit is his ability to bring about change. Whenever
the Spirit arrives, the status quo is disturbed. When Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would bring power
to those whom would receive him, the power referred to was dunamis power. Dunamis is the power to
generate the new and change the old. When the Holy Spirit arrives in a person s life, it has character
changing results.
Interestingly, 1Samuel chapter 10 tells the history of how Saul became the king of Israel. The prophet
Samuel had just anointed Saul as leader of Israel and prophesied to Saul: Then the LORD S Spirit will
come over you. You will be a different person while you prophesy with them. (Verse 6) Samuel
prophesied the Spirit upon Saul would change his character; he would become a bold, different person
.
Why is this change significant? To answer this question one has to take a closer look at the character
of Saul. His character highlights why his change was noteworthy. It is in contrast to one s own
shortcomings that the significance and magnitude of the Holy Spirit s influence become evident. This
is no different for Saul.
Saul, which means, asked for or prayed for , was the son of Kish, a Benjamite. Saul was the most
handsome man in Israel head and shoulders taller than anyone else. God told Samuel he had looked
down on his people in mercy and he heard their cry for their own king. Therefore, Samuel had to
anoint Saul as leader of Israel. This new king

Mark Antony Research Paper
Mark Antony Bringing Out the Hero
William Shakespeare is one of the greatest English writers of time; one of his most famous plays is
The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. In the dramatic play, Caesar, the soon to be king, got brutally murdered
by the conspirators, because they were afraid he would abuse the power of king. Mark Antony a friend
of Caesar, then got a piece of power and wanted more. Through the beginning half Brutus seems like a
villain, but through the second half Antony turns out to be the wrongdoer.
The man who assembled Brutus to be a tragic hero is Mark Antony. While Brutus was loyal, Mark
Antony was anything but. In ACT III, Brutus states, not that I loved Caesar less but I loved Rome
more. Although Brutus did kill Caesar he

Speechless By Shirin Nesht Analysis
The Struggle of Transnationalism Transnationality is a theme not often brought up in the art world.
Many feminist artists use transnational themes to convey their messages. Both Shirin Neshat and
Mona Hatoum often show their transnational experiences through their art. Hatoum s Doormat II and
Speechless by Shirin Neshat convey the transnational experience in different ways but are in
conversation with each other. Shirin Neshat plays with western stereotypes that have been thrust upon
her by living in the United States. She illustrates the image of the Muslim woman and pokes and prods
at the expectations of this intersectional persona. Mona Hatoum uses themes of home and borders in
her works. These subjects convey her experiences of being a mestiza in a world that doesn t
understand that word. Speechless by Shirin Neshat is a photograph of a woman in a hijab with a gun
by the side of her face. This close up photograph also has arabic calligraphy laid over it. The gun in
this photo is so close to the woman s ear that it resembles an earing. The viewer, at first glance, could
easily see an earing on this woman instead of a gun. Shirin Neshat was born in 1957 in Iran. She lived
in Iran until she was 17 in 1974. In this time of Iran s history, the veil offered great symbolism. At
some points it was the symbol of oppression, at others it was the symbol of nationalism and strength.
Because Shirin Neshat left Iran during the revolution, the veil was a confusing topic for

Mikhail Lermontov
The title of Mikhail Lermontov s book, A Hero of Our Time, confused readers due to the moral
depravity of its main character, Grigory Alexandrovich Pechorin. Tsar Nicholas thought the title must
have referred to Maxim Maximovich, as he was the only character that the Tsar could see to possess
heroic qualities. However, Lermontov did intend the title to describe Pechorin. The title of A Hero of
Our Time is a vehicle Lermontov uses to critique the flaws of his contemporary society by linking its
problematic values to the unsavoury behaviour of Pechorin. In the foreword to the story, Lermontov
clearly indicated A Hero of Our Time is intended to portray the shortcomings of his generation
through the unscrupulous Pechorin. Pechorin, with his larger than life adventures and persona, is the
hero that captures the individual aspirations of high society Russians. However, his heartlessness and
unabashed selfishness turns these aspirations on their head to reveal the moral failings of society. ...

Lermontov stated that it simply amused him to paint the contemporary person, one that he
understands, and to his misfortune has come across too often. This is a clear indication that the book
and its titular character are meant to be negative representations of the contemporary person. His
expressed displeasure with the contemporary individual is reflective of his resentment for Russian
high society. This resentment is evidenced by Lermontov s eulogy for Pushkin, in which Lermontov
blamed the pressures of high society as the cause of Pushkin s death. The social ills perceived by
Lermontov are coalesced into the character of Pechorin, which is the kind of hero Lermontov believed

One of the most significant experiences in my life is being a member and volunteer of the Junior
Shipmate program, a program that pairs Special Olympic Athletes and able bodied children and
teaches them how to sail. I ve been apart of this wonderful program for an amazing 14 years, learning
life lessons through the sport of sailing. Most of our time is spent on the water stressing safety,
teamwork, good seamanship and positive attitude. Not only has this program shaped me into a leader
but also a leader in my community and to all those around me as well. This program has been a part of

Main Themes In Chinese Cinderella
The book Chinese Cinderella, written by Adeline Yen Mah has four main themes. They are: family
relationships, abandonment loneliness, self esteem and history. The author Adeline Yen Mah, also
wrote the book Falling Leaves but Chinese Cinderella was written for younger audiences. Chinese
Cinderella is actually an autobiography, not a fairy tale. Adeline (the protagonist) has to work for her
dreams, not by wishing from a fairy godmother. This book was set in the 1900 s (1941 1952). At that
time WW2 was happening making Adeline s life harder. The moral of this book would be that no
matter your circumstances, you can work hard and achieve your dreams. This book is really
captivating and it tells the reader not to underestimate anyone. That s why I think this is an amazing
book for everyone to read.
There are a range of genres in Chinese Cinderella. They are adventure, drama, and history. The genres
change the story from being a fairy tale to a true autobiography. As the book s genres are adventure
and history, it does not relate to the fairy tale of Cinderella. Adeline s childhood is harsh and she has to
find her own ways without a fairy godmother. At the start of multiple chapters, the year is written and
historical events are told, which gives the reader historical knowledge. Another historical scene is
when Nai Nai was telling Adeline about her bound feet (page 7 8). There are lots of dramas and
adventures that go on in Adeline s world, which relate to the themes. These genres make the book
harder to put down.
The plot and structure in this autobiography makes the story of Adeline s childhood flow better. The
orientation started by Niang marrying Adeline s father. At Adeline s birth her mother died so Adeline
was treated badly and unfairly. In the complication, Adeline was unwanted from the start. She was
sent away to an orphanage because she was wanted by no one. In the resolution Adeline decided after
winning the playwriting competition that she wanted to be a writer. She studied medicine at Oxford
University with Third Brother. The reflection is that no matter what your conditions are you can
achieve anything like Adeline did. In the story Adeline read a newspaper article that said It was

The Effects Of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis ( Als )
I. Introduction
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a late onset neurological disorder characterized by motor
neuron degeneration in brain stem, spinal cord and primary motor cortex. There is no single gene
strictly associated with all ALS cases, the disease is thought to be caused by the interaction of many
genetic factors as well as environmental influences. Most of ALS patients have no family history of
this disease, familiar form accounts for only 5 to 10% and seems to be dominant in most cases. The
dominance and high heritability of familiar ALS (FALS) led to identification of several high risk
alleles of few genes (among those, SOD1, FUS, TARDEP, C9ORF72 are the most frequent)
There are 3 main neuropathological findings associated with ALS. First is degeneration of the
corticospinal tract that connects axons from primary motor cortex to the motor neurons and extensive
degeneration of lower motor neurons. This is connected to the second characteristics, which is loss of
Bertz cells that are found in primary motor cortex and connect to the motor neurons. The third
characteristics is hypertrophy of glial cells that either lose their original neuroprotective abilities or
gain neurotoxic effects.
ALS usually starts in one part of a body (either a limb or bulbar region) and then slowly spreads to the
rest of the body by non cell autonomous or prion like propagation. A presence of protein aggregates in
the affected neurons was observed, but the nature of these aggregates

Evolution Of Managed Care And The Forces That Have Driven...
Describe the evolution of managed care and the forces that have driven its evolution.
Managed care and its competition is being viewed to solve their issue on the struggle to control rising
health care costs. Managed care can be defined a system of delivering health services in which care is
delivered by a specified network of providers who agree to comply with the care approaches
established through a case management process. Managed care has a one hundred years of history in
the United States, and it gained national recognition around mid 1970s. The health maintenance
organizations (HMOs) are managed care organizations. There are two categories of MCOs are,
preferred provider organizations (PPOs) and point of service plans
(POS). There are over half of Americans with health insurance are enrolled in managed care plans.
Currently the debate in the United States is in regard to the quality of care provided by MCOs and
traditional fee for service plans. Another major issue with managed care is the use of gag clauses in
contracts amongst the MCOs and their providers. These clauses limit providers from being more
informative to patients about the alternative treatments or the details of reimbursements for providers.
The U.S. health care reform failed in 1994, and it caused a more focused turn to the marketplace to
provide the stimulus for reducing costs.
A few new trends are rising as managed care enters its second generation: dual and triple option plans

Physics of Skydiving Essay
The Physics of Skydiving
What Is Skydiving?
Skydiving is an adrenaline based sport with a fairly simple concept jump from a high place (usually
out of a plane) from several thousand feet above sea level and hope and pray for a safe landing. This
safe landing is often times achieved through the use of a device called a parachute, which enables the
skydiver to reduce his speed to such a point that colliding with the earth will not be fatal.
This paper will explain a few of the key concepts behind the physics of skydiving. First we will
explore why a skydiver accelerates after he leaps out of the plane before his jump, second we will try
and explain the drag forces effecting the skydiver, and lastly we will attempt to explain how ... Show

Lets examine a free body diagram of this situation.
One may now clearly see why Joe does not accelerate downward while he remains is in the plane. The
normal force of the plane is acting against the normal force of the gravity acting on Joe s 100 kilogram
mass (this is getting close to the maximum weight allowed for skydiving). Since the sum of the forces
in the y, or upward direction, is equal to zero, there is effectively no force acting on Joe. Thus, the
acceleration of Joe must be zero.
Now that Joe understands why he is remaining at a constant altitude, he s ready to take his first jump.
Joe is given the signal to jump from the jump master, and he steps right off the edge of the plane. Joe
is now instantly accelerating in the downward direction. Joe s acceleration will soon cause him to
travel at a rapid rate. But exactly how fast will he be traveling at a certain time? Without this
knowledge, Joe could easily splatter against the surface of the earth. In order to calculate Joe s
velocity at any time, T, we use the following equation:
X = Vi * T + .5 * g * t^2
Where X is the change in distance, Vi is the initial velocity, t is time, and g is the acceleration due to
gravity. Since we know Joe s initial velocity was 0, and the acceleration of gravity is always 9.8
m/s^2, we can calculate how far Joe has traveled at any point in time. Lets examine the new free body
diagram for this situation.
As you can see, the normal force is now

Two Similarities And Differences Between Germany And China
Germany, a western country is well known for beer, sausage and innovative technology. China, an
eastern country is well known for delicious food, martial arts and low priced products. Everyone
knows they are completely different. However, can you raise some concrete examples showing their
difference? And is it true that both do not have a single similarity at all? Though, they have certain
similar aspects if you look closer. One obvious difference between Germany and China is the food
habit. German tends to have cool food for breakfast, which comprises bread, cheese and cold meat like
ham and salami, whereas the Chinese tend to have hot food at the beginning of the day, such as
congee, which is a thick, white porridge made of rice and water. ... Show more content on

Both countries view family as a key aspect of their life. German have a strong bond with family. For
example, everybody goes back home for reunion at Christmas and Easter. Family would spend time
together for enjoying the long holiday. Chinese also emphasize family gathering and reunion, just as
German do. During the Spring Festival, a number of Chinese would travel from the city they are
working at back to their hometown in order to celebrate and gather, given the fact that the Spring
Festival is the most important festival to Chinese. Furthermore, both societies show a great respect to
elders. There is a Chinese saying, An old in a home is like a treasure of a family. Chinese view the
elder as an experienced and alive encyclopedia more than an encumbrance in the society. Similarly,
German are always willing to help the senior citizens. German help those citizens is common in
public, like on buses and at restaurants. The youngsters would give up their seats, or helping the elders
getting on and off the bus. The politeness to senior citizens could be also shown from the German
language. People would use Sie , which is a polite and formal form to address other, Herr and Frau to

Density of Sprite and Diet Sprite
Abstract:
The density of regular Sprite was found to be 1.037 +/ g/mL. compared to Diet Sprite which was
0.9965 +/ g/mL. Among the three volumetric glassware Pipette was most precise (ó=0.0016 g/mL).
Burette was the second best (ó=0.0023 g/mL) and graduated cylinder was the least precise (ó= 0.007

The variation of data on the graph may be the result of systematic or random errors. In this
experiment, volume is the independent variable which affected the mass calculated by the weighing
balance. Figure 1 also pointed out the precision of the three glassware used to measure the volume.
Pipette seemed to be the most precise instrument to use for measuring volume because most of the
Diet Sprite and all of the regular Sprite densities were calculated very closely. Burette was also
accurate but not as precise as pipette. There are some points on burette chart that go very high or very
low. This is probably because the volume was not measured accurately. Another error that altered the
data was the beaker used to measure the mass might have some solution in it already and thus mass of
the solution increased. Mistakes such as wrong measurement or calculations also affected the graph.
Pipette is the most precise because almost all the points are close to each other whereas graduated
cylinder is the least precise because the data is vastly spread on the graph 1. Figure 1: shows
measurements of Diet and regular Sprite with three different volumetric glassware The % error for
regular sprite for three kinds of volumetric glassware was calculated using the group data of regular
Sprite from all three labs on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday by getting the average and

Intentional Animal Abuse
Animal Abuse The shocking number of animal abuse cases reported every day is nothing compared to
most of those which are never reported. Cases of animal abuse are not compiled by the state or federal
agencies such as violent crimes against humans. This makes it much more difficult to calculate how
much it actually happens. Information available to us can help us better understand and prevent cases
of abuse against animals. They re all special and talented in their own way. Animals should not be

and urban areas. Intentional animal cruelty is strongly correlated with violent crimes against people.

casual intimacy to outright love depending on how and where Selden perceives Lily. Selden sees a
beautious quality in Lily Bart that is not present in any of the other women in the novel. This

Even at the very beginning of the novel, we notice that Lily chooses Selden s street because it is the
only street that has trees on it, some one has had the humanity to plant a few trees over there. Let us
go into the shade (8). The most intimate conversation between them will occur while sitting in a beech
grove after having walked through the woods. It is therefore safe to say that when Lily is in the woods
her true nature emerges, the nature that Selden considers to be real and that he falls in love with. This
explains why, during the theatrical presentation at the Wellington Brys party, Selden is so deeply
affected by the portrait of Lily. She emerges wearing a white dress as part of a Reynold s painting,
Mrs. Lloyd , but captivates the audience with her naturalness: Her pale draperies and the background
of foliage against which she stood served only to relieve the long dryad like curves that swept upward
from her poised foot to her lifted arm (142). Again we see a direct comparison with Diana. Selden is
so taken in by this scene that he completely agrees with Gerty Farish when she says, It makes her look
like the real Lily the Lily I know (142). His love for Lily is strengthened by the fact that he and Gerty
are the only two people who know what Lily really is like. Selden watches the other men judging Lily,
and shares a his thoughts with the reader, making the beautiful

Free Labor Economy
The industrialization of the early republic period boosted the nation s economy and promoted equality
of opportunity but also compromised the quality of life through exploiting women and children for
cheap labor and continuing class conflict
The industrialization time period opened up doors for people and created equality of opportunity. In
the North, they had what was called a free labor economy and this meant they no longer had to depend
on slavery and were free to contract for laborers which stimulated economic growth. The
industrialization and implementation of factories modernized the economy and pushed forth the
western expansion. For the first time, women were no longer bound by gender roles and were able to

One of the biggest downfall was the exploitation of the factory workers and the immorality of the
system. Like the majority of children in mill towns, Sam Patch started work in a factory at the age of
seven. He was forced to work long hours in unsuitable conditions. In the summers it was hot, the
winters were freezing and would often have swollen ankles from standing long periods of time.
Forcing children, like Sam Patch, to work hindered them from individually progressing. Children s
youth was ripped away from them and were never given a chance to get an education. Other factory
workers like low income men, women and immigrants also endured these same struggles and were
prisoners of the factory owners. This type of dependency was essentially a limitation of freedom and
forced these unskilled workers to endure any cruel or unjust conditions because they had nothing else
to fall back on. Thomas Jefferson who was always opposed to an industrial nation, had said when you

The Ban Of The Tobacco
For me tobacco is one of the useful but useless products that are consumed by some class of the
human race in general. In the year 2001 the Government of India had announce an intention to lay an
embargo on the advertisement of tobacco in the media in general, in order to prevent luring the
younger generation from getting involved in this act and also to arm the government with powers to
launch an anti Tobacco Program. After the declarations made by the government there is a negative
uprising against the ban that the government want to lay on the advertisements of the tobacco in
general. Some ideal people have seen the decision taken by the government as an impossible decision
that can never come into fruition, even to the degree where some prominent media personnel like,
Suhel Seth, CEO, Equus Advertising said have to speak against the intention of the government by
saying, The ban does not have teeth. It is a typical knee jerk reaction by any Government to create
some kind of popularity for itself.

Essay on Beals’ Reflection and Analysis
Beals Reflection and Analysis In the book Warriors Don t Cry, Melba Beals was a heroine and a
national symbol of hope for change. Beals and eight other students were brave enough to attend Little
Rock Central High School, the highly segregated school in Arkansas in 1957. Despite the many
objections from the segregationists and the Governor Faubus, the nine students were able to complete
the school year. During the school year of 1957 1958, Melba and eight other African American
students received tremendous harassments from the Central High students, parents, administrators,
and segregationists. Beals mother almost lost her, because she supported her daughter s decision to
attend Central High. President Eisenhower had ordered the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For the estimate, the safety of these nine students did cost the federal government more than a million.
In addition, NAACP fought many legal suits in the courts with the segregationists. Many civil right
leaders criticized the Little Rock crisis nationally. The segregation in public school did take away the
quality, the advantages, and the rights of education from all minor students. The Little Rock crisis also
became a war zone for nine African American students. Overall, the segregation in U.S. did insult
many world leaders during the 1950s. According to Joel Spring in the Deculturalization and the
Struggle for Equality, it was a big mistake for the U.S. Supreme Court to declare the segregation of
schools constitutional. Under the segregation laws, many minor students struggled to receive a good
education. The southern state governments passed the laws around the federal laws to restrict the
educational rights of all minor students. When the U.S. Supreme Court tried to end the segregation,
the nation faced the resistance from the segregationists. The segregation of school was not over until
the Civil Rights Act of 1964. In addition, the courts ruled that the Brown vs. Board of Education
decision apply to all school in U.S. Like all minor students, Melba Beals was one of the victims of
segregation. When Beal attended Central High School, she was very angry and disappointed with the
Central High students.

Dylan Thomas Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night
When a word or a phrase is repeated over and over again, it tends to become stronger in meaning and
it sticks in the subconscious. Welsh writer and poet Dylan Thomas was born in 1914 and died in 1953.
He wrote numerous works throughout his lifetime and exclusively wrote in the English language. One
such work was titled Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night. In the poem, the narrator of an
unknown gender urges the reader to not give up on life and to passionately fight to keep living. The
main literary device Thomas uses is repetition, and he uses this tool with certain phrases to give
emphasis and to make the meaning of his words stronger.
Titles are important, and the multiple use of this poem s title emphasizes the meaning behind the
poem. For example, in almost every stanza, the phrase do not go gentle into that good night (659) is
used. These words are passionately used to plead to the reader not to give up so easily on life. The
poet is talking to readers of who have thoughts of hopelessness in life and cannot find meaning to their
existence. Symbolically, the use of the word night is the end of the ... Show more content on

multiple times in the poem to put a deep emphasis on fighting to live against the inevitable death.
Every day, people hear and see repetition all around as commercials repeat sales and slogans to
intensify what they re saying and to burn them into our brains (Wilson). In this poem, the repetition of
phrases burn into the memory of the readers and help the reader understand the deeper elements of the

Identity In Mirror Image And Flowers For Algernon
George R.R. Martin once said, Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your
strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armour yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt
you. In both stories of Mirror Image by Lena Coakley and Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes they
have a common theme of identity and about how you find yourself. For both the characters in the story
they find themselves finally by first losing themselves. For example in the short story of Mirror
Image, Alice is a character who struggles to find herself and tries to understand if this is truly who she
is. The situation of Alice is that she is the first to successfully have her brain transplanted in a new
body, and due to this she is struggling to find her own identity. ... Show more content on

UNICEF Challenges
Introduction
Alfred Nobel once said, If you could only understand that we can help a human being without any
ulterior motive. Mr Nobels words echos a sentiment of the the Declaration of the Rights of the Child
or by another name, the Geneva Declaration of the Rights of children. It was adopted by the United
Nations in 1959. This worthy goal to protect children must be carried by people that can fulfill that
purpose and reach into the world, where many need help. UNICEF is that program. (UNCF) UNICEF
or United Nations Internationals Children Emergency Fund has a duty to help make the world a better
place. It is vital to understand what UNICEF is, its origins, the type of problems they face and how
they help. It is also essential to look at challenges they have and how they can improve as an
organization.
History of UNICEF UNICEF had its origins in 1946. It was 3 men who played an essential role,
Former President Herbert Hoover, Maurice Pate, an American business man, later the first executive
director of UNICEF. Ludwik Rajchman, an advocate for global health.
By 1947, Pate set up an office in D.C. He assembled a team and built networks in Europe and
recruited staff from the League of Nations. It took only 8 months to get approval for UNICEF to
support programs for Albania,Austria, China, Finland and a few others . (Jolly, 12)
Its first program focused on establishing feeding programs and provided 4.5 million children a daily
meal in 30,000 locations in 12 countries. It

Arguments Against Fascism Definitions
Definitions from Merriam Webster and Dictionary.com describe fascism as a form of government that
is authoritarian and nationalistic. Most definitions attempt to generalize and narrow this concept. In
the hopes of disguising this idea as extinct, definitions limit the spread of fascism to twentieth century
Russia, Italy, Germany and China. Yet, fascism cannot be placed absolutely on a geographical,
political or historical map. On many sliding scales or charts of political spectrums fascism fits
somewhere between communism and socialism, but also inside statism. People argue whether fascism
is left or right wing, but historically fascist nations have worked against ideals of all political
spectrums at one point or another. Is fascism limited

recently released copy contains an access code to take their version of a strengths assessment test.
When finished I received a report listing my five predominate strengths with a description of why I
stand out from others with the same strengths, an application section and finally a section to help me
utilize my talents. The Richard step was very similar to the online test found in Strengths Finder
except that it is free. Labeling of my top strengths were different between these two tests but in many
cases they contained similar subject assessment.

Problem Formulation And Scope Of Supply Chain Systems
1.3 Problem Formulation and Scope
To describe and predict the behaviour of complex reverse supply chain systems, it is often necessary
to use elaborate mathematical modelling. In the same manner, identification of the optimum operating
conditions that will ensure improved supply chain performance usually renders the use of an
optimisation technique essential. For the last decade, a variety of modelling research activities have
been carried out to address the complex reverse supply chain optimisation problems. However, most
of the research has focused mainly on operational and tactical planning problems which may not
provide sufficient insight into the long term design and planning issues of reverse supply chains.
Furthermore, a common limitation of most traditional approaches is the lack of incorporating
quantitative environmental performance modelling. In this context, this study will focus on strategic
reverse supply chain management aiming at determining the setup of economically viable and
environmentally friendly reverse supply chain networks.
1.3.1 Research Questions
The aims of this research have been translated into nine research questions which are presented as
follows:
 Question 1: What are the general characteristics of reverse supply chains from a logistics point of
view?
In order to design reverse supply chains at a strategic level, we have to identify the common features
of the supply chains. To this end, we will investigate reverse supply chain settings

Ammonia: Beef or Pink Slime?
By: Sara Beth Wilken
In 1984, the humorous advertising slogan for Wendy s fast food chain, Where s the beef? became very
popular and was meant to show their beef patties were much larger when compared to other fast food
burger establishments (Reno Gazette). The pictures of their patties were obviously bigger, but we all
missed the most important question. What is in the beef patties?
Americans consume approximately 5 billion hamburgers each year which equates to roughly 1.2
billion pounds of meat (Reno gazette). Most consumers assume that the hamburger they eat is
composed primarily of meat. However, Fast Food Burgers: What are we really eating? Published a
recent study that analyzed eight different brands of fast food hamburgers revealing a different truth
(Reno gazette). The answer of what our burgers are made of is mostly water. The amount of water in
these burgers was as much as 37 64 percent which is something most likely all consumers would
never consider (Reno gazette). This raises the question; how much actual beef are the burgers we
consume made of? Surprisingly, the meat content was as low as 2 to 15 percent in

The Baroque Era Of Music Essay
The Baroque chamber orchestra, a type of ensemble today that can vary greatly from group to group,
is involved in a type of performance many musicians remain confused about. For a modern musician,
the confusion surrounding the Baroque style stems from a notion that spending time learning a style of
instrument that is no longer commonplace is something that is not worthwhile or is even detrimental
to a modern instrumental career. Much of this stems from the idea that the romantic era of music is the
most valid and academic form of music studied and performed. This has to do with the intense
exposure that classically trained musicians are given in the field of romantic and modern era music.
Today it is very common for violinists to insist on playing the music of Bach, like the 6 sonatas and
partitas, romantically without consideration of the performance practices in the time the music was
written. The avoidance of authentic baroque performance being included in the modern interpretation
stems from the natural aversion modern players have to the baroque sound. What many people
consider to be a baroque sound is one that sounds unpolished and underdeveloped, most likely due to
the lack of vibrato and varying bow and articulation techniques from today s playing. When looking at
baroque music that is commonly played on modern instruments, there is no better example than the
music of J.S. Bach. In the case of the 6 Sonatas and Partitas, today and especially in the middle to late

Native Americans By James Axtell
The Indian presence precipitated the formation of an American identity (Axtell 992). Ostracized by
numerous citizens of the United States today, this quote epitomizes Axtell s beliefs of the Indians
contributing to our society. Unfortunately, Native Americans roles in history are often categorized as
insignificant or trivial, when in actuality the Indians contributed greatly to Colonial America, in ways
the ordinary person would have never deliberated. James Axtell discusses these ways, as well as what
Colonial America may have looked like without the Indians presence. Throughout his article, his
thesis stands clear by his persistence of alteration the Native Americans had on our nation. James
Axtell s bias delightfully enhances his thesis, he provides a copious amount of evidence establishing
how Native Americans contributed critically to the Colonial culture, and he considers America as
exceptional largely due to the Native Americans. As all authors are undeniably guilty of, James Axtell
has a bias, and not one shamefully swept underneath the rug. The enlightening article Axtell has
published remains not only as informational; it stands convicting in a sense. Unfortunately, the reader
may find themselves lumped into the assemblage of Americans that regard the Native Americans as
pathetic footnotes to the main course of American History (Axtell 981). Establishing his thesis, Axtell
offers plentiful examples of how Native Americans contributed to Colonial America,

Smooth Muscle Cell Contraction Lab Report
Contractility of ASM requires an increased levels of intracellular Ca2+. When surface receptors are
not activated, Ca2+ levels are low. Upon activation of these cell surface receptors by contractile
agonists e.g. acetylcholine, serotonin and histamine, intracellular Ca2+ increases causing a contraction
(9). Smooth muscle cell contraction is controlled by both receptor and mechanical activation of
proteins actin and myosin and also changes to membrane potential.
Ca2+ dependant contraction of smooth muscle mechanism
When a stimulus is applied to smooth muscle, it causes an action potential, depolarizing the plasma
membrane. Voltage gated calcium channels open allowing calcium into the cell. This increases

Descriptive Essay On A Day In The Night
In the dark and crowded streets I watch as tourists and Dubliners alike pack into the already full pubs

closest that I have come to celebrating with another is when a towering, drunk man staggers to the

The Psycho Analytic Perspective
My life is a story of the self realization of the unconscious. Everything in the unconscious seeks
outward manifestation, and the personality too desires to evolve out of its unconscious conditions.
Carl Jung The author of the lines mentioned above, Carl Gustav Jung, is one of the major contributors
of the Psycho Analytic perspective of understanding personality. Jung who was born in Kesswil,
Switzerland, in 1875, was a very close associative of Sigmund Freud. The duo shared a lot of common
ideas and thoughts beginning from their first meeting at Freud s office in Vienna, after a period of
mutually admiring correspondence. But, In the course of time these discussions revealed a small crack

Like all psychoanalysts, Jung recognized that personality contains both conscious and unconscious
elements. Like Freud, Jung referred to the ego when describing the more conscious aspects of
personality. His description of the unconscious, though, differed from Freud s id and superego
structures. Furthermore, he did not seek to increase the role of consciousness in personality and to
minimize unconscious influence, as did Freud. Rather, Jung sought a balance in which unconscious
elements were given an equal role, complementary to that of consciousness Jung s description of
personality types is one of the more straightforward aspects of his theory. Among other things, it helps
explain why some people seize on his descriptions of mystical and mythological experience with
enthusiasm, while others dismiss them as non scientific nonsense. The difference depends on a person

Theme Of Madness In Hamlet
Is Hamlet Sane or Insane That is The Question Madness is a trait which it is difficult to tell its
authenticity. The theme of madness is an essential piece in William Shakespeare s famous play
Hamlet, the protagonist, Hamlet, who just lost his father, and having his uncle, Claudius marrying to
his mother, Gertrude weeks after, he is very upset about the events and became very depressed. When
Hamlet meets the ghost of his father, he decides to put an antic disposition on and started acting crazy
as a part of his plan in order to discover if his father s been murder or not. From time to time, Hamlet s
act of lunacy gets out of control and eventually caused him to lose his sense of reality and actually go
insane, just like when he sees the ghost in his mother s room, but Gertrude did not see or hear a thing,
and he starts to lose his logical sense at the end when he is talking to the Osric and his best friend,
Horatio. Finally, Hamlet s antic disposition overtakes his rationality, controls him, and leads him to his
downfall and many others around him. First of all, there are many situations that prove Hamlet is
rational and totally pretending to be a lunatic. After the ghost reveals to Hamlet that his father was
murdered in his sleep by his own blood brother Claudius, Hamlet decided to put an antic disposition
on. (1.5.173) This event suggests that Hamlet is still being rational and thinking logically and he

Who Is Mr. Udall-OCD
The film focused on Jack Nicholson s character, Melvin Udall as a subject riddled with Obsessive
Compulsive Disorder. According to the class text, obsessions include recurrent and persistent
thoughts, urges or images; thoughts of contamination. Also, Mr. Udall s functions in different social
settings often seemed rigid, and sparked disconnect with his neighbors, and acquaintances. However,
further on Mr. Udall played an instrumental role in piecing together a crucial script in the lives of the
individuals he encounters. Watching the movie imposed a convicting thought of recognizing such
individuals like Mr. Udall in our society enduring the complexities of severe disorders OCD. Despite

Tangerine Sinkhole Quotes
In Tangerine, a sinkhole occurs from pages 81 to 83. Although the actual event of the sinkhole itself is
very short, the effects of it last throughout the rest of the book. The sinkhole itself affects many
characters in the book, including Erik. Because of the sinkhole, the Lake Windsor bleachers by their
football field are left unsafe. The condemned area includes all of the portables of course. But to the
south, it also includes a corner of the soccer field and all of the baseball diamond. To the north, it
includes nearly all of the high school football bleachers that back up onto the middle school, (Bloor
87). This quote is significant because it shows which areas of the campus are marked as unsafe, which
means that Erik won t be able to have a huge audience at his games, thanks to the unsafe bleachers.
On page 87, Bloor writes, The football stadium has just lost half of its seating capacity. And Erik

Paul s school board has to come up with a schedule for the time being, due to the portable classrooms
being destroyed in the sinkhole. ... seventh grade parents will have another option... Dr. Grace
Johnson, the principal of Tangerine Middle School has agreed to take any of our seventh graders for
the remainder of this term... (Bloor 93). Because of this, Paul begs to go to Tangerine Middle School,
because he sees it as an opportunity to play soccer with no IEP. Because of this, the plotline is
affected. If the sinkhole never happened, Paul wouldn t have met all his Tangerine friends. Luis Cruz
is dead, (Bloor 244). Luis, Teresa s brother, would still be alive because he wouldn t have had a reason
to confront Erik if he never met Paul. Paul wouldn t be able to play soccer either because his mom
never would ve been able to throw it away. Because of the sinkhole, The heavens had opened up for

Shakespeare s Treatment Of Women In Hamlet
Shakespeare is known for his amazing literary works and his strong, female characters, none of whom
appear in one of his most famous literary works Hamlet. In the tragedy Hamlet, Shakespeare depicts
women as weak lesser beings whose only purpose is to serve men either as servants, wives or
pawns. The female characters of Hamlet certainly leave something to be desired. Ophelia and Gertrude
are the only female characters in Hamlet and are constantly used throughout the play to further the
agendas of the men of Hamlet. Typically the women of Shakespeare are strong, independent women
who don t need a man to rescue them women like Cordelia, Portia, and Rosalind. It makes a one think
that perhaps Shakespeare set strong female characters completely ... Show more content on

Gertrude is the Queen of Denmark who, after her husband is murdered, marries the new king, her
brother in law Gertrude is used throughout the play by her new husband, King Claudius, to further his
own agenda for power and control Claudius uses Gertrude to spy on Hamlet to see if Hamlet has truly
gone mad, this plot ends with Hamlet killing Polonius Ophelia starts the play as the love interest of
Hamlet but after he begins his plan to appear crazy to get revenge for his father s death Ophelia is
scorned by Hamlet who constantly demeans her to make himself appear crazy In his efforts to achieve
revenge against Claudius for his father s murder, Hamlet kills Polonius, Ophelia s father (Shakespeare,
1750), The death of her father sends Ophelia into hysteria and ends with her killing herself. Many
believe that Shakespeare s poor view of women in Hamlet is due to his unhappy marriage.
Ophelia and Gertrude are a far cry from other Shakespearean women. Cordelia of King Lear stays true
to herself by not grovelling to her father to gain land and power, instead she tells him that she loves
him as much as being his daughter says she should and he banishes her. Her two sisters then deceive
their father into thinking they love more than life itself and after they receive their land they throw
their father and Cordelia into the dungeons. While he lies defeated in the dungeon Cordelia teaches
her him the true bond between father and daughter (Shakespeare,

Over 3000 workers of Lockheed Corporation are unionized under the IAM and are always in track
with the labor union. The union has always negotiated in several instances regarding the welfare of the
workers of Lockheed. In 2009, IAM came under much negotiation with the management of Lockheed
at Fort Worth where the corporation manufactures jets. The issues at play in that case were healthcare
costs and pensions where the workers were over 3,900 people in total opposition with the management
of the corporation. At an address to the workers on 19th April, 2009, IAM President promised the
workers that the union would keenly negotiate for a fair and just contract between the members and
the management of Lockheed (Julian Denver, 2011). The core of the matter in this regard emerged out
of the decision by Lockheed s management to announce that it would eliminate pension programs for
new hires and would also increase healthcare costs for all the workers at the corporation s Fort Worth
plant. The IAM Negotiating Committee promised that it would effectively address the issue with the
parties and warned Lockheed against its wrong moves. There were also allegations that the company
was planning to introduce very expensive healthcare plans if the workers rejected the idea of
elimination of the then present healthcare plan (Sears, 2006). In the course

Persuasive Essay On Twilight
months, she decided to get a permanent reminder of her inspiration: the Twilight series of books and
movies. Ward spent 22 hours and $3000 to tattoo her favorite characters on her back. When I was
sixteen I wanted to get a tattoo as well, but not extremely big, I wanted a tattoo that said either
Twilight or a short quote from one of the books. At that time my parents didn t let me pierce my nose
let alone get a tattoo. In the same article, it claims, The release of the third Twilight film has some kids
dreaming about becoming Hollywood starlets complete with fangs. Taylor Walker, 16, desperately
wanted to emulate her favorite cinematic stars. Dentist Dr. Mary Courtin is using a plastic like
substance called composite to mold long, sharp, fang like teeth , meaning young teenager girls
actually got vampire fangs. An even more extreme case is that of a 18 year old girl from Florida in a
vampire cult who claims, Since I was like 12 every fiber in my body, basically everything, I know this
is going to be crazy, but I believe that I m a vampire and part werewolf , when she murder a 16 year
old boy and said she s a vampire who has drunk the blood of her boyfriend. These types of despicable

because we form an obsession towards a fictional world and get attached to unrealistic characters.
Twihards, like myself, lose sleep by staying up late on school nights, whether, it is rereading the books
we have already read countless times or searching the internet for any updates on the films and actors
that play our beloved fictional characters. Our stress levels rise up just by thinking how long it will be

  • 2. Role Of Marketing Using Integrated Marketing... In recent times, there has been a shift from mass marketing using mass communication to relationship marketing using Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC). This shift has developed an emphasis on interaction and relationship building. IMC is the dominant communications marketing approach favoured by many organisations as together the various communication functions create synergy (Belch Belch, 2012, chapter 1) that consequently builds reputability; short term financial returns and long term brand value (Schultz Schultz, 2003). This argument will be developed through a discussion and examples of various IMC communication functions, with reference to the greater strategic results are possible with the successful use of IMC these include but are not limited to the development of relationships and brand identity and the ability to target various and specific audiences. The above will be discussed with reference to theorists Belch and Belch (2012), Percy (2014) and Schultz and Schultz (2003) among others, and the Tourism New Zealand 100% Pure New Zealand IMC campaign in order to provide a cohesive and integrated argument. In order to understand why IMC is the dominant approach; one must first have a cohesive understanding of what IMC entails. IMC as Schultz and Schultz (2003), Clow and Baack (2007) and Belch and Belch (2012) explain is a strategic business process whereby all marketing communication tools and avenues are integrated seamlessly to ensure the greatest ... • 3. Frailty Syndrome As Elderly Individuals Essay Life expectancy has increased dramatically in the last century due primarily to the control of infectious diseases, especially in the younger cohorts and the improvement of medical care and nutrition. This has, however, resulted in a large percentage of the older population suffering chronic diseases. The population within Canada is aging and we are living longer than we have in the past. According to Statistics Canada (2012), from 1920 1922, a man s average lifespan was 59 years of age and a woman s average lifespan was 61 years of age; in 2012, this has now increased to 79 for men and 83 for women. This increasing lifespan has created a new frontier in the health and wellbeing of the elderly as it has resulted in a consequent increase in complex health care needs of elderly people with Frailty Syndrome. Fried et al. (2005) identify Frailty Syndrome as elderly individuals meeting three out of five phenotypic criteria indicating compromised energetics: low grip strength, low energy, slowed walking speed, low physical activity, and/or Health care systems across Canada are becoming strained by this aging cohort and will continue to become even more so in the coming years. It is estimated that the number of frail elderly in Canada will double to well over 2 million within the next 20 years (Young, 2015, pg. 1) and it is imperative that we look at how we are going to be able to support this through changes in our healthcare system. One means of doing this is to create more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of The Book The Holy Spirit One of the most prominent features of the Holy Spirit is his ability to bring about change. Whenever the Spirit arrives, the status quo is disturbed. When Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would bring power to those whom would receive him, the power referred to was dunamis power. Dunamis is the power to generate the new and change the old. When the Holy Spirit arrives in a person s life, it has character changing results. Interestingly, 1Samuel chapter 10 tells the history of how Saul became the king of Israel. The prophet Samuel had just anointed Saul as leader of Israel and prophesied to Saul: Then the LORD S Spirit will come over you. You will be a different person while you prophesy with them. (Verse 6) Samuel prophesied the Spirit upon Saul would change his character; he would become a bold, different person . Why is this change significant? To answer this question one has to take a closer look at the character of Saul. His character highlights why his change was noteworthy. It is in contrast to one s own shortcomings that the significance and magnitude of the Holy Spirit s influence become evident. This is no different for Saul. Saul, which means, asked for or prayed for , was the son of Kish, a Benjamite. Saul was the most handsome man in Israel head and shoulders taller than anyone else. God told Samuel he had looked down on his people in mercy and he heard their cry for their own king. Therefore, Samuel had to anoint Saul as leader of Israel. This new king ... In the dramatic play, Caesar, the soon to be king, got brutally murdered by the conspirators, because they were afraid he would abuse the power of king. Mark Antony a friend of Caesar, then got a piece of power and wanted more. Through the beginning half Brutus seems like a villain, but through the second half Antony turns out to be the wrongdoer. The man who assembled Brutus to be a tragic hero is Mark Antony. While Brutus was loyal, Mark Antony was anything but. In ACT III, Brutus states, not that I loved Caesar less but I loved Rome more. • 6. Speechless By Shirin Nesht Analysis The Struggle of Transnationalism Transnationality is a theme not often brought up in the art world. Many feminist artists use transnational themes to convey their messages. Both Shirin Neshat and Mona Hatoum often show their transnational experiences through their art. Hatoum s Doormat II and Speechless by Shirin Neshat convey the transnational experience in different ways but are in conversation with each other. Shirin Neshat plays with western stereotypes that have been thrust upon her by living in the United States. She illustrates the image of the Muslim woman and pokes and prods at the expectations of this intersectional persona. Mona Hatoum uses themes of home and borders in her works. These subjects convey her experiences of being a mestiza in a world that doesn t understand that word. Speechless by Shirin Neshat is a photograph of a woman in a hijab with a gun by the side of her face. This close up photograph also has arabic calligraphy laid over it. The gun in this photo is so close to the woman s ear that it resembles an earing. The viewer, at first glance, could easily see an earing on this woman instead of a gun. Shirin Neshat was born in 1957 in Iran. She lived in Iran until she was 17 in 1974. In this time of Iran s history, the veil offered great symbolism. At some points it was the symbol of oppression, at others it was the symbol of nationalism and strength. Because Shirin Neshat left Iran during the revolution, the veil was a confusing topic for ... • 7. Mikhail Lermontov The title of Mikhail Lermontov s book, A Hero of Our Time, confused readers due to the moral depravity of its main character, Grigory Alexandrovich Pechorin. Tsar Nicholas thought the title must have referred to Maxim Maximovich, as he was the only character that the Tsar could see to possess heroic qualities. However, Lermontov did intend the title to describe Pechorin. The title of A Hero of Our Time is a vehicle Lermontov uses to critique the flaws of his contemporary society by linking its problematic values to the unsavoury behaviour of Pechorin. In the foreword to the story, Lermontov clearly indicated A Hero of Our Time is intended to portray the shortcomings of his generation through the unscrupulous Pechorin. Pechorin, with his larger than life adventures and persona, is the hero that captures the individual aspirations of high society Russians. However, his heartlessness and unabashed selfishness turns these aspirations on their head to reveal the moral failings of society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lermontov stated that it simply amused him to paint the contemporary person, one that he understands, and to his misfortune has come across too often. This is a clear indication that the book and its titular character are meant to be negative representations of the contemporary person. His expressed displeasure with the contemporary individual is reflective of his resentment for Russian high society. This resentment is evidenced by Lermontov s eulogy for Pushkin, in which Lermontov blamed the pressures of high society as the cause of Pushkin s death. • 9. Main Themes In Chinese Cinderella The book Chinese Cinderella, written by Adeline Yen Mah has four main themes. They are: family relationships, abandonment loneliness, self esteem and history. The author Adeline Yen Mah, also wrote the book Falling Leaves but Chinese Cinderella was written for younger audiences. Chinese Cinderella is actually an autobiography, not a fairy tale. Adeline (the protagonist) has to work for her dreams, not by wishing from a fairy godmother. This book was set in the 1900 s (1941 1952). At that time WW2 was happening making Adeline s life harder. The moral of this book would be that no matter your circumstances, you can work hard and achieve your dreams. This book is really captivating and it tells the reader not to underestimate anyone. That s why I think this is an amazing book for everyone to read. There are a range of genres in Chinese Cinderella. They are adventure, drama, and history. The genres change the story from being a fairy tale to a true autobiography. As the book s genres are adventure and history, it does not relate to the fairy tale of Cinderella. Adeline s childhood is harsh and she has to find her own ways without a fairy godmother. At the start of multiple chapters, the year is written and historical events are told, which gives the reader historical knowledge. Another historical scene is when Nai Nai was telling Adeline about her bound feet (page 7 8). There are lots of dramas and adventures that go on in Adeline s world, which relate to the themes. These genres make the book harder to put down. The plot and structure in this autobiography makes the story of Adeline s childhood flow better. The orientation started by Niang marrying Adeline s father. At Adeline s birth her mother died so Adeline was treated badly and unfairly. In the complication, Adeline was unwanted from the start. She was sent away to an orphanage because she was wanted by no one. In the resolution Adeline decided after winning the playwriting competition that she wanted to be a writer. She studied medicine at Oxford University with Third Brother. The reflection is that no matter what your conditions are you can achieve anything like Adeline did. • 10. The Effects Of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis ( Als ) I. Introduction Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a late onset neurological disorder characterized by motor neuron degeneration in brain stem, spinal cord and primary motor cortex. There is no single gene strictly associated with all ALS cases, the disease is thought to be caused by the interaction of many genetic factors as well as environmental influences. Most of ALS patients have no family history of this disease, familiar form accounts for only 5 to 10% and seems to be dominant in most cases. The dominance and high heritability of familiar ALS (FALS) led to identification of several high risk alleles of few genes (among those, SOD1, FUS, TARDEP, C9ORF72 are the most frequent) There are 3 main neuropathological findings associated with ALS. First is degeneration of the corticospinal tract that connects axons from primary motor cortex to the motor neurons and extensive degeneration of lower motor neurons. This is connected to the second characteristics, which is loss of Bertz cells that are found in primary motor cortex and connect to the motor neurons. The third characteristics is hypertrophy of glial cells that either lose their original neuroprotective abilities or gain neurotoxic effects. ALS usually starts in one part of a body (either a limb or bulbar region) and then slowly spreads to the rest of the body by non cell autonomous or prion like propagation. A presence of protein aggregates in the affected neurons was observed, but the nature of these aggregates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Evolution Of Managed Care And The Forces That Have Driven... Describe the evolution of managed care and the forces that have driven its evolution. Managed care and its competition is being viewed to solve their issue on the struggle to control rising health care costs. Managed care can be defined a system of delivering health services in which care is delivered by a specified network of providers who agree to comply with the care approaches established through a case management process. Managed care has a one hundred years of history in the United States, and it gained national recognition around mid 1970s. The health maintenance organizations (HMOs) are managed care organizations. There are two categories of MCOs are, preferred provider organizations (PPOs) and point of service plans (POS). There are over half of Americans with health insurance are enrolled in managed care plans. Currently the debate in the United States is in regard to the quality of care provided by MCOs and traditional fee for service plans. Another major issue with managed care is the use of gag clauses in contracts amongst the MCOs and their providers. These clauses limit providers from being more informative to patients about the alternative treatments or the details of reimbursements for providers. The U.S. health care reform failed in 1994, and it caused a more focused turn to the marketplace to provide the stimulus for reducing costs. A few new trends are rising as managed care enters its second generation: dual and triple option plans with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Physics of Skydiving Essay The Physics of Skydiving What Is Skydiving? Skydiving is an adrenaline based sport with a fairly simple concept jump from a high place (usually out of a plane) from several thousand feet above sea level and hope and pray for a safe landing. This safe landing is often times achieved through the use of a device called a parachute, which enables the skydiver to reduce his speed to such a point that colliding with the earth will not be fatal. This paper will explain a few of the key concepts behind the physics of skydiving. First we will explore why a skydiver accelerates after he leaps out of the plane before his jump, second we will try and explain the drag forces effecting the skydiver, and lastly we will attempt to explain how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lets examine a free body diagram of this situation. One may now clearly see why Joe does not accelerate downward while he remains is in the plane. The normal force of the plane is acting against the normal force of the gravity acting on Joe s 100 kilogram mass (this is getting close to the maximum weight allowed for skydiving). Since the sum of the forces in the y, or upward direction, is equal to zero, there is effectively no force acting on Joe. Thus, the acceleration of Joe must be zero. Now that Joe understands why he is remaining at a constant altitude, he s ready to take his first jump. Joe is given the signal to jump from the jump master, and he steps right off the edge of the plane. Joe is now instantly accelerating in the downward direction. Joe s acceleration will soon cause him to travel at a rapid rate. But exactly how fast will he be traveling at a certain time? Without this knowledge, Joe could easily splatter against the surface of the earth. In order to calculate Joe s velocity at any time, T, we use the following equation: X = Vi * T + .5 * g * t^2 Where X is the change in distance, Vi is the initial velocity, t is time, and g is the acceleration due to gravity. Since we know Joe s initial velocity was 0, and the acceleration of gravity is always 9.8 m/s^2, we can calculate how far Joe has traveled at any point in time. Lets examine the new free body diagram for this situation. As you can see, the normal force is now ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Two Similarities And Differences Between Germany And China Germany, a western country is well known for beer, sausage and innovative technology. China, an eastern country is well known for delicious food, martial arts and low priced products. Everyone knows they are completely different. However, can you raise some concrete examples showing their difference? And is it true that both do not have a single similarity at all? Though, they have certain similar aspects if you look closer. One obvious difference between Germany and China is the food habit. In this experiment, volume is the independent variable which affected the mass calculated by the weighing balance. Figure 1 also pointed out the precision of the three glassware used to measure the volume. Pipette seemed to be the most precise instrument to use for measuring volume because most of the Diet Sprite and all of the regular Sprite densities were calculated very closely. Burette was also accurate but not as precise as pipette. There are some points on burette chart that go very high or very low. This is probably because the volume was not measured accurately. Another error that altered the data was the beaker used to measure the mass might have some solution in it already and thus mass of the solution increased. Mistakes such as wrong measurement or calculations also affected the graph. Pipette is the most precise because almost all the points are close to each other whereas graduated cylinder is the least precise because the data is vastly spread on the graph 1. Even at the very beginning of the novel, we notice that Lily chooses Selden s street because it is the only street that has trees on it, some one has had the humanity to plant a few trees over there. Let us go into the shade (8). The most intimate conversation between them will occur while sitting in a beech grove after having walked through the woods. It is therefore safe to say that when Lily is in the woods her true nature emerges, the nature that Selden considers to be real and that he falls in love with. This explains why, during the theatrical presentation at the Wellington Brys party, Selden is so deeply affected by the portrait of Lily. One such work was titled Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night. In the poem, the narrator of an unknown gender urges the reader to not give up on life and to passionately fight to keep living. The main literary device Thomas uses is repetition, and he uses this tool with certain phrases to give emphasis and to make the meaning of his words stronger. Titles are important, and the multiple use of this poem s title emphasizes the meaning behind the poem. For example, in almost every stanza, the phrase do not go gentle into that good night (659) is used. These words are passionately used to plead to the reader not to give up so easily on life. In the same manner, identification of the optimum operating conditions that will ensure improved supply chain performance usually renders the use of an optimisation technique essential. For the last decade, a variety of modelling research activities have been carried out to address the complex reverse supply chain optimisation problems. However, most of the research has focused mainly on operational and tactical planning problems which may not provide sufficient insight into the long term design and planning issues of reverse supply chains. Furthermore, a common limitation of most traditional approaches is the lack of incorporating quantitative environmental performance modelling. In this context, this study will focus on strategic reverse supply chain management aiming at determining the setup of economically viable and environmentally friendly reverse supply chain networks. 1.3.1 Research Questions The aims of this research have been translated into nine research questions which are presented as follows:  Question 1: What are the general characteristics of reverse supply chains from a logistics point of view? • 35. The Baroque Era Of Music Essay The Baroque chamber orchestra, a type of ensemble today that can vary greatly from group to group, is involved in a type of performance many musicians remain confused about. For a modern musician, the confusion surrounding the Baroque style stems from a notion that spending time learning a style of instrument that is no longer commonplace is something that is not worthwhile or is even detrimental to a modern instrumental career. Much of this stems from the idea that the romantic era of music is the most valid and academic form of music studied and performed. This has to do with the intense exposure that classically trained musicians are given in the field of romantic and modern era music. Today it is very common for violinists to insist on playing the music of Bach, like the 6 sonatas and partitas, romantically without consideration of the performance practices in the time the music was written. The avoidance of authentic baroque performance being included in the modern interpretation stems from the natural aversion modern players have to the baroque sound. What many people consider to be a baroque sound is one that sounds unpolished and underdeveloped, most likely due to the lack of vibrato and varying bow and articulation techniques from today s playing. When looking at baroque music that is commonly played on modern instruments, there is no better example than the music of J.S. Bach. Although all the unfortunate natural events that made this tragedy possible, the supervision of the event was almost as bad as the hurricane itself. There are many fingers to point at the different people handling the situation but one this is clear, it was not handled properly. The blame all fell on a select few individuals ranging from The President of the United States of America to the Mayor of New Orleans. Kathleen Blanco, a former schoolteacher and two term Lt. Governor of Louisiana, elected governor in January 2004 and who was in charge of Louisiana s response when Hurricane Katrina struck on Aug. 29, 2005. Ray Nagin, another official in the hot seat, was the elected mayor of New Orleans in May 2002 and served as mayor during the disaster. Michael Brown, the former Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) director from 2003 2005, who was in charge when Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast on Aug. 29, 2005. Last but not least, President George W. Bush was the active president during the time of America s struggle. All of these officials in some way contributed to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Tangerine Sinkhole Quotes In Tangerine, a sinkhole occurs from pages 81 to 83. Although the actual event of the sinkhole itself is very short, the effects of it last throughout the rest of the book. The sinkhole itself affects many characters in the book, including Erik. Because of the sinkhole, the Lake Windsor bleachers by their football field are left unsafe. The condemned area includes all of the portables of course. But to the south, it also includes a corner of the soccer field and all of the baseball diamond. To the north, it includes nearly all of the high school football bleachers that back up onto the middle school, (Bloor 87). This quote is significant because it shows which areas of the campus are marked as unsafe, which means that Erik won t be able to have a huge audience at his games, thanks to the unsafe bleachers. On page 87, Bloor writes, The football stadium has just lost half of its seating capacity. And Erik Fisher, the soon to be famous place kicker, has just lost half of his ... • 46. Shakespeare s Treatment Of Women In Hamlet Shakespeare is known for his amazing literary works and his strong, female characters, none of whom appear in one of his most famous literary works Hamlet. In the tragedy Hamlet, Shakespeare depicts women as weak lesser beings whose only purpose is to serve men either as servants, wives or pawns. The female characters of Hamlet certainly leave something to be desired. Ophelia and Gertrude are the only female characters in Hamlet and are constantly used throughout the play to further the agendas of the men of Hamlet. Typically the women of Shakespeare are strong, independent women who don t need a man to rescue them women like Cordelia, Portia, and Rosalind. It makes a one think that perhaps Shakespeare set strong female characters completely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gertrude is the Queen of Denmark who, after her husband is murdered, marries the new king, her brother in law Gertrude is used throughout the play by her new husband, King Claudius, to further his own agenda for power and control Claudius uses Gertrude to spy on Hamlet to see if Hamlet has truly gone mad, this plot ends with Hamlet killing Polonius Ophelia starts the play as the love interest of Hamlet but after he begins his plan to appear crazy to get revenge for his father s death Ophelia is scorned by Hamlet who constantly demeans her to make himself appear crazy In his efforts to achieve revenge against Claudius for his father s murder, Hamlet kills Polonius, Ophelia s father (Shakespeare, 1750), The death of her father sends Ophelia into hysteria and ends with her killing herself. Many believe that Shakespeare s poor view of women in Hamlet is due to his unhappy marriage. Ophelia and Gertrude are a far cry from other Shakespearean women. Cordelia of King Lear stays true to herself by not grovelling to her father to gain land and power, instead she tells him that she loves him as much as being his daughter says she should and he banishes her. Her two sisters then deceive their father into thinking they love more than life itself and after they receive their land they throw their father and Cordelia into the dungeons. The union has always negotiated in several instances regarding the welfare of the workers of Lockheed. In 2009, IAM came under much negotiation with the management of Lockheed at Fort Worth where the corporation manufactures jets. The issues at play in that case were healthcare costs and pensions where the workers were over 3,900 people in total opposition with the management of the corporation. At an address to the workers on 19th April, 2009, IAM President promised the workers that the union would keenly negotiate for a fair and just contract between the members and the management of Lockheed (Julian Denver, 2011). The core of the matter in this regard emerged out of the decision by Lockheed s management to announce that it would eliminate pension programs for new hires and would also increase healthcare costs for all the workers at the corporation s Fort Worth plant. The IAM Negotiating Committee promised that it would effectively address the issue with the parties and warned Lockheed against its wrong moves. There were also allegations that the company was planning to introduce very expensive healthcare plans if the workers rejected the idea of elimination of the then present healthcare plan (Sears, 2006).
