Andromeda Constellation
The constellation of Andromeda is pretty interesting. Not only does it share it s name with the galaxy
closest to the Milky Way, it is also one of the 48 constellations listed by the Greco Roman astronomer,
Ptolemy. It is said that this constellation is ten times the size of Crux, the smallest constellation, and a
little over half the size of Hydra, the largest constellation. The brightest of Andromeda s stars, Alpha
Andromedae a binary star is also shared by the constellation Pegasus. Andromeda is best viewed in the
month of November, North of the 40° South latitude. The story of Andromeda comes from the Greek
tale of Perseus. Cassiopeia was the queen of Ethiopia as well as Andromeda s mother. She liked to

Predicting Athletic Performance Using The Five Factor...
The article, Predicting athletic performance using the five factor model of personality by Ralph L.
Piedmont, David C. Hill, Susana Blanco seeks to address how the five factor model of personality
when utilized, is a suitable predictor of athletic performance and how it is can assist in gaining an
insight and understanding of the competitive nature within athletes, to show if there was a correlation
between personality traits within different competitive sport. There have been many other studies used
to evaluate personality within sport such as Cooper s study (1969) that concluded that those that are
more athletic in a competition sense are inclined to be socially confidence, aggressive and have an
increased motivation to achieve. (Piedmont, R., Hill, D., Blanco, S. 769 777, 1997). Therefore the
authors aim was to utlise several testing method to gain a greater insight to there questions and
compliment other studies findings or determine different things. The five factor model constructed by
McCrae and John, 1992 is a scale based self and peer rated scale on 5 traits, these being Neuroticism,
Extraversion, Openness, Agreeableness and Conscientiousness. Each personality trait has several other
correlating traits which contribute assist in determining personality within competition. Examples of
results of low neuroticism correlate with high self confidence and low anxiety. High conscientiousness
and extraversion are greatly link with an increase of competiveness and

Comparing Plato And Aristotle s View Of Democracy
Like the best life, the best system of government is conducted in accordance with excellence.
(Aristotle, N. Ethics 1295a 25)
In terms of Democracy, Plato and Aristotle differ extensively. For instance, Plato considers
Democracy as a fundamentally corrupted form of government, where the possession of power rests
upon the will of the masses, which for Plato are incapable of achieving true knowledge. Conversely,
Aristotle recognizes Democracy among the best forms of governance. However, he argues that
democratic rule, if exercise in the form of Polity, will eventually lead society to pursue the best life.
Moreover, for the purpose of this essay I will concentrate in analyzing Plato and Aristotle s works with
respect to democracy in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(POL. 1297b 37)
In addition, Aristotle and Plato fundamentally disagree in the conception of positive outcomes with
democratic governance. Specifically, Aristotle argues that if and only if the majority exercises its
power according to the rule of law, the majority s will is consider as valid, since only by following the
principles of law a society can achieve the best life. (POL 1295a) Conversely, Plato clearly rejects the
possibility of any positive consequence under democratic authority. Since according to him, the
masses possession of political authority in a democracy appears to be the complete negation of social
order and hierarchy. (REP. 556a 10)
Third, there are two major aspects in which Plato and Aristotle criticize democratic freedom. For
instance, Plato criticizes democracy mainly because he argues that the particular way in which a
democratic government exercises freedom allows individuals to behave lawlessly; therefore living
upon their desires. (REP 557a 5)
In contrast, Aristotle recognizes two important elements of freedom in a democracy. First, he
acknowledges as positive the fact that in a democracy freedom can be understood as the possibility of
rule and being ruled in turn. (POL 1317a 40) Next, like Plato, Aristotle criticizes democracy based on
the idea that for him, it symbolizes the rule of the majority that has the liberty to act without
constrains. (POL 1317b 13)

Effects Of Thymosin On The Human Body
What are the effects of Thymosin ß 4 on the Human Body?
Nolan P. Stringfellow
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College
Jefferson Davis Campus
Abstract
Introduction
Thymosin ß 4 is a naturally occurring immunological hormone that is secreted by the thymus gland.
According to Thymosin beta 4 | ProSpec. (2011, March 01). Retrieved March 27, 2017, from
http://www.prospecbio.com/Thymosin_beta 4_7_171/ thymosin also assists in the development of B
cells to plasma cells to produce antibodies. The dominant form of thymosin, thymosin b4, is a member
of a highly conservative family of actin monomer sequestering proteins. Thyomosin in the body is
composed of 43 different amino acids ( Ac Ser Asp Lys Pro Asp Met Ala Glu Ile Glu Lys Phe Asp Lys

Most of the hormones present in the human body are transported through the blood. Hormones
according to www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/nature/etc/hormones can influence the
function of the immune system and alter one s behavior. These chemical signals are the reason for
many factor including why one s arms are the same length, why one can turn food into a viable fuel,
and why one grows through puberty. Hormones are indicative of changes in target cells by binding to
hormone receptors. In this way, even though hormones circulate throughout the body and meet
different cell types, they only affect cells that possess the necessary receptors. Receptors of a specific
hormone can be found on different cells or a small number of specialized cells. Per www.pbs.com/ the
thyroid hormones act on different tissue types, stimulating metabolic activity throughout the body.
Cells can have receptors for the identical hormone, but often also possess receptors for different types
of hormones. The number of receptors that respond to a hormone determines the cell s sensitivity to a
specific hormone. The number of receptors that respond to a hormone can change over time, resulting
in increasing or decreasing the cell s sensitivity. Often in up regulation, the number of receptors
increases to rising hormone levels, making the cell more sensitive to the hormone. Down regulation
describes when a cell is decreasing the quantity of a cellular component. When the cells respond to a
hormone, they express a specific receptor for that specific hormone. The hormone binds to the
receptor protein, resulting in the activation of a mechanism that ultimately leads to cell type specific
responses. Receptor binding alters cellular activity, resulting in an increase or decrease in normal body
processes. According to www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline depending on the location of the protein
receptor on the

Analysis Of The Book Fahrenheit 451
Fahrenheit 451 begins by introducing Guy Montag, a fireman who starts fires rather than putting them
out, in a grim futuristic United States. The author describes Montag, along with the other fireman, as
having, ...black hair, black brows, a fiery face, and a blue steel shaved but unshaved look (page 30).
The book opens by describing the pleasure experiences doing his job as a fireman one evening. The
first sentence being, It was a pleasure to burn (page 1). After his day at work he strolls home and
happens across a young girl, around sixteen, named Clarisse McClellan. This young girl proves to the
fireman to be unique, she is a deep thinker and rises above society. She didn t want to know how a
thing was done, but why (page 57). After talking with Clarisse Montage arrives home, finding is wife
in bed and an empty bottle of pills on the ground. He takes her to the hospital were he watches
strangers help is wife, Mildred. Here he begins to ponder saying, There are billions of us and that s too
many. Nobody knows anyone (page 14). Meaning that everyone lives for themselves and not for
others, no one cares to make friends or understand another person. They live to be happy. The next
day, and many days after that, Montag would meet Clarisse and they would walk together and
socialize, on the way towards the train that took Montag to work. They wouldn t talk about cars or
clothes, but about what a leaf smelled like or wonder how race car drivers viewed the world. She told

The Book Of Sand
Finitude is the sole concept which pervades all walks of life; all regions of the world; all aspects of
daily life and human society. It challenges our perceptions and potentially destroys dreams, making
the viable inviable and even some difficulties impossibilities. Yet, are we truly confined to finitude for
an infinitude of time, or is the universe an infinitude in which we, as a species, have yet to achieve our
fullest potential? Jorge Luis Borges, in his short story The Book of Sand , provides not only a set of
answers to these questions, but also compounds it with remarkable perspective and insight into the
nature of infinitude, our understanding of our own limitations, and how we naturally perceive the
foreign concept of infinity as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first paragraph, Borges writes of the universe in a mathematical manner that relates the abstract
generalization of the known to the unknown: The line is made up of an infinite number of points; the
plane of an infinite number of lines; the volume of an infinite number of planes; the hypervolume of
an infinite number of volumes... What we know about time and life, in this context, is continually
growing, unlimited by any external force, such as the starting point of the evolution of human
understanding of the universe. In this case, just as the Book of Sand has neither a starting point nor an
end point, the universe does not have an end point, nor a clearly defined, discernible, universally
agreed upon start point. Infinite dimensions of the universe are infinite dimensions of thought; we can
always expand our horizons, broaden our understanding to any infinite degree. So long as we operate
in a truly infinite plane, our ideas and thoughts are unrestrained and infinite as

efforts to maintain their objectivity in their professional and business judgments. Objectivity is a
mindset of professional accountants and on certain occasions, to preserve the objectivity professional

What Are The Challenges Of The Khmer Empire
It s interesting to learn and to understand that many of the challenges society confronts today such as
urban planning, religion, agriculture and trading and the impacts of climate change were challenges
also experienced during the Khmer Empire between C.802 C.1431. A lot of these challenges were key
features of everyday life in the Angkor/Khmer Empire. Some of the key features included trade and
agriculture, religion, water management, and the social structure.
Agriculture and trade played an important role in the Khmer Empire due to the Mekong River, rice
paddies, the Funan and the Zhenla. The rice paddies were developed when the monsoon rain flooded

In this empire there was two types of religion and these were Buddhism and Hinduism, however
before the religions grew the people believed in spirits. There were two different types of spirits and
these were ancestor spirits and nature spirits. According to the Religion section in the Cambridge
History Textbook it states that people throughout Cambodia left a little food, alcohol or flowers to
please the spirits. After a while the worship of the spirits began to die down allowing Hinduism and
Buddhism to flourish. With reference to many sources such as
http://empireofthekhmer.weebly.com/religion.html and
http://khmerknowledgekeepers.weebly.com/everday life in the khmer empire.htmlit, it tells us that
Hinduism was the main religion in Angkor and focused on the worship of three gods, Brahma, Shiva,
and Vishnu. The religion stresses the importance of good order, harmony and the balance of good and
evil between the gods. According to the Angkor Wat picture (bottom of page) All people in the Khmer
empire worshiped the gods resulting in the Empire becoming very religious and the building of
Angkor Wat. Buddhism was the second most popular religion in Angkor. According to the Cambridge
History Textbook, Buddhism is the belief of a person named Buddha who came from a wealthy family
and lived a life of luxury. Buddha then started to realize there was a world of suffering outside his life.

Explain The Economic Logic Underpinning Mahan’S Theory
Explain the Economic Logic Underpinning Mahan s Theory of Sea Power
Captain Alfred Thayer Mahan published The Influence of Sea Power upon History, 1660 1783 in
1890, in which he attempted to analyze the role of sea control throughout history. Mahan, a naval
officer, used his sea experience to create a theory about naval history that is unlike any other history
work. Upon examination of Theodore Momsen s History of the Roman Empire, which included the
history of the Second Punic War, Mahan emphasized the significant role that sea communications
played in Rome s victory. Additionally, he describes the relevance of different maritime campaigns in
various battles that took place during the French and American revolutions. Mahan evaluates ... Show

Mahan devotes most of his introduction to the history of sea power. He starts by discussing how the
manner in which a war is fought changes as navies have evolved from galleys to steam ships as well
as the advancement of weapons, but that the principles behind maritime war remain the same. In effort
to illustrate the importance of sea power throughout history, Mahan details the impact that sea power
had on the second Punic War. The control of the water by the Romans forced Hannibal to depart on
the devastating venture through the Gaul. Instead of explaining the actual conflict at hand, Mahan
explores the strategy that would have been necessary to defeat Rome. The Carthaginians would have
needed to invade the Roman Empire in Italy either by sea or by transport through the Gaul. Rome had
control over any strategic location available to the Carthaginians during the war and this was all made
possible by the sea. Analyzing this war specifically through the actions of the Roman Navy proves that
the history of sea power is crucial in understanding the history of the world. Mahan asserts his belief
in the importance of learning from history by stating, The battles of the past succeeded or failed
according as they were fought in conformity with the principles of war; and the seaman who carefully
studies the causes of success or failure will not only detect and gradually assimilate these principles,
but will also inquire increased

pressure testing, you re not alone. Many homeowners are unaware of this practice and the important
role it serves in keeping your air ducts functional. This is a diagnostic procedure to measure the air
tightness of the air ducts in your home. It can be done in a home that is already inhabited, as well as in
a newly built structure. If you are unsure as to whether the ducts in your home should be pressure
tested, consult TI Dawson Heating AC. We provide duct pressure testing to residents in the

The Importance Of Astronomy And Astrology
Since the early Egyptians, people have been trying to read the stars. Have you ever looked at the stars
yourself, and wondered what it all means? Today, most people might know their star sign according to
their birthday. You might have even read a horoscope once or twice. However, astrology in and of
itself is not to be trusted. Astronomy on the other hand, is the actual science used to encompass our
big, endless skies. Astronomy is the study of the universe and its subject matter outside of Earth s
atmosphere, while Astrology endeavors to study how the universe and its contents (such as
constellations and planetary systems), might directly relate to humans and the events surrounding each
person s life. (Temming) Seeing these definitions, we can come to the conclusion Astronomy should
be trusted as it is based on proven science, has numerous scientific implications, and realistic
applications. Astrology however, has no scientific basis and should only be treated as nothing more
than a novelty. The first point on how astronomy should be trusted over astrology is because the study
of astronomy is well respected among the scientific community, and is based on facts. Astronomy is
commonly known by most as the study of constellations and the universe. Astronomers examine
movements, positioning, and the composition of celestial bodies, while basing their information on
research and observation. Nola Taylor Redd gives us a good idea of astronomy in What is Astronomy?

Analysis Of Herman Melville s Typee
In much of what we identify with in our everyday lives has to do with the relationships we have with
one another. These relationships are ultimately embedded into our memory for basically the rest of our
lives, and with some shape or form, shape us to who we are today. These relations, similarly have to
do with faces, actions and personal experiences that we have never been exposed to before. This type
of exposure is apparent in Herman Melville s Typee, where identity is of critical importance to that of
Tommo, the narrator, along with the tribe that he encounters while stranded on the island. There are
numerous instance as to where Tommo questions his moral and somewhat physical identity in Typee.
These events such as Tommos decision to tattoo himself is a major identity crisis because it s not
something he, nor his Western culture is really exposed to or familiar with. The Typee practices and
societal structures displayed by Melville in Typee allows the reader in some case, to compare and
contrast how Western civilization and the other [Typee] reaffirm identity. In a sense Tommo and his
decision, by the end of the novel, really allows the reader to understand what creates and helps
maintain identity for ones self. Melville, in the beginning, introduces Tommo as an individual that
prefers to be unidentified or wants to be invisible to others, but wants to be someone whom takes
pleasure in the observation of others. Tommo, in Marquesan, does mean to

What Color Attracts The Most
What Color Attracts the Human Eye the Most?
Introduction
The human eye can see 7,000,000 colors, but which color attracts it the most? Figuring out what color
attracts the most attention could be really beneficial in many ways. Research shows that when you are
buying something, the visual factor is almost 93%. That means that choosing a color that attracts a lot
of attention is crucial.
This experiment will show what color attracts the human eye the most. Before talking about what
color attracts a lot of attention, how do humans see color? To see color, first the light hits an object.
Then the object absorbs some of the light. Then, it reflects the rest of it. The wavelengths of the
reflected light determine what you see.
Warm colors attract the most attention. Some warm colors are red, yellow, and orange. Yellow is the
easiest color to see. Yellow is used for warning signs because it is easy to see. Yellow is more visible
because more light is reflected on bright colors. This causes excessive stimulation of the eye. ... Show

interest people by making them look at the sign, which will make them curious and want to know
more about it. My hypothesis is that if I test what color attracts the human eye the most, then yellow
will be the color. I believe this because it is a very bright color and attracts more. The independent
variable of this experiment is the human participating. The dependent variable is what color is seen

A BMX race can be broken down into two smaller parts the race to the first turn and the race to the

people believed the 76ers were a team that would be gone early on in the playoffs but now things have
changed. Philadelphia has become a powerhouse in sports, a better city, and even a new bandwagon

Persuasive Essay About Hispanic Ethnic Groups
There is a massive amount of ethnicities in this world. You have ethnic groups that are not necessarily
related to where you came from but what group you identify yourself with. As a descendant who
speaks the Spanish language we are categorized as being part of the Hispanic ethnic group. My father
having twelve siblings and my mother having nine, it was a huge family. Our grandparents and parents
inculcated us to be a united family with all the values and beliefs they initiated. Every ethnic group is
similar but different in its own unique way. In which some have music, food and believes that
characterize us as that specific ethnic group. The only difference is the way people embrace it. We also

Women are only allowed to do what their husbands command. If they need to go somewhere they
have to ask for permission before hand. Many Hispanic men are called male chauvinist. A male
chauvinist is a male who patronizes, disparages, or otherwise denigrates females in the belief that they
are inferior to males and deserving of less than equal treatment or benefit ( the definition of male
chauvinist , 2017). They believe that they have rights to do anything they desire including having

We also value our family because without them we would be lonely and miserable in a country where
we do not know anyone and is very hard for us to communicate with others for the same reason that
some Hispanics only speak Spanish. While growing up I remember spending Thanksgiving,

Disadvantages Of Mountain Uplift
Mountain uplift is known to greatly enhance rates of physical erosion and chemical weathering
compared to the rates in tectonically stable regions... orogenic events lead to global cooling over
geologic time scales by accelerating the rate of CO2 consumption by silicate weathering (Jacobson

The carbonate weathering involved in the downdraw of CO2 (Wcarb CO2) is inversely correlated to
the silicate weathering involved in the downdraw of CO2 (Wsil co2).
Carbonate Ca Mg weathering is 5.8 times greater in exposed to uplifting to stable landscapes, with
silicate Ca Mg weathering have less prevalence at 3.7 times greater respectably.
Wsil co2 is 5.6 times lower than Wcarb CO2 on the uplifting area.
Therefore in summary Chemical weathering and mechanical erosion rates are statically different

Who Is Knocking By Norma Lee
Knock Knock. Who s there? Norma Lee. Norma Lee who? Norma Lee I don t go around knocking on

of political figures. These satirical representation all have one thing in common. They give you humor,
even the slightest smile to rolling on the floor busting out laughing. The truth is that comedy brings
you joy. No matter how hysterical something may be it always finds a way of bringing you
happiness. The authors in this unit transmits humor by using extreme exaggeration in a story to display
an entertaining genre.
In the essay,¨I ve got a few pet peeves about sea creatures¨, written by Dave Barry, he conveys humor
about life to truth by making a serious topic amusing for the audience. Like personal thoughts or
feelings about a serious subject. For example, in the passage it said, It turns out that an aquarium is a
powder keg that can explode in deadly violence at any moment, just like the Middle East, or junior

used for emphasis. He took something serious as like violence and made it facetious. He also conveys

comedy because if found it difficult to understand. The difference between High comedy and low
comedy is that in low comedy it s frequently seen as a hilarious effect and how the plot takes priority
over the characters. Meanwhile, high comedy is primarily focused on the characters dialogue or ideas.

Abigail Adams Letter To Her Son Summary
Every parent wants their child to succeed. In 1780, Abigail Adams wrote a letter to her son, John
Quincy Adams, future president of the United States, while he was was travelling abroad with his
father who was only a US diplomat during that time. She addresses certain expectations that he should
be aware of. Even so, he is reluctant to be on a diplomatic duty with his father. This called her to the
attention that she has to advise him. That advisement came in the form of motherly guidance. Adams,
as a woman who is exceedingly bright and different from those of her time, believes that only the hard
working will be successful. In Adams s letter to her son, she conveys the importance of his future
through the tone of a caring mother, historical references, and a list of great virtues to convey to him
the importance of working hard to achieve one s potential.
To begin with, Abigail Adams addresses the letter to my dear son to set the tone of not reprimand but
guidance to him. The first thing that Adams establishes is that she puts her son s wellness above all: I
hope you have had no occasion, either from enemies or the dangers of the sea, to repent your second
voyage to France (Adams). This language sets the tone to appeal to his emotions so that Adams can
get her point across. It reminds her son to keep in mind that everything else in the letter is written to
his advantage. Next, the reference that the author uses to compare a judicious traveller to a river

Nansi Surlekova, Student ID: 13006763
Section 1
It is noticeable that the market needs mobile developers. Recently, mobile programming has grown
10 times faster than desktop programming. Even though this is going on and on for years now and a
lot of people started participating in this area of business, there is still place for more. After
researching a few websites for job opportunities I came across 3 interesting posts.
The first job is about a Junior Mobile Application Developer. The posts states that you will be
mentored, but still, you need to have enough experience so you can manage things on your own. The
skills required for this position are as expected: A working knowledge of .NET, C#, Java, HTML5, ...

As you can see I am going up, one step at a time. The requirements for this position are longer than
the whole information given in the two previous posts. Do you have at least 5 years professional
software development experience? No. Do you have at least 3 years professional Android
development experience? No. You should have experience in almost every field that is connected in
some way with mobile development, examples are: Java, Android SDK, Eclipse ADB, Knowledge of
Android specific UI patterns and affordances, IOS, PHP, JQuery etc., oh and let s not forget about the
degree in computer science. So if we say that you become a Junior developer, wait a few years, then
go up to just being a developer and take your life in your hands by reading books and coding more
than you breathe, yes, you might be able to apply for a position like that in about 30 years.
The chart below sums up the main skills that are required in order to launch your career in Mobile
Development. How does that fit my skill set? Barely. But a good amount of time and effort can easily
fix that. An example of a way to start building up my skill set is by actually starting to work on an app.
At first thought it all seems scary, to be honest, but if a selected field interests you, everything can be

The Spectacular Baptism Of Christ
The Spectacular Baptism of Christ Baptism of Christ is a painting created by Francesco Albani from
1630 to 1635. ( Baptism of Christ Francesco Albani The Athenaeum. Baptism of Christ ). In this
painting there is an image of the baptism of Christ and all of its surroundings. The reason for the
creation of this portrait, is because Francesco Albani was influenced by the Council of Trent during
the time he created this painting. The painting has a description of what seems to look like a half
naked person who is surrounded by what looks like a body of water and has another person pouring
some type of liquid on top of his head. This image is the center importance of the peace because it s
what s closer to the audience and doesn t fade into the background. It looks like the main focus of this
painting is literally in the center of the piece. Anyone that were to ever view this painting could tell
from the beginning that the overall view of this content is pathos. In the main section of the painting,
there is an image of a person who is getting poured some type of liquid over their head. In this image,
we can see the person in the center with no shirt on, and they have a small blue robe type of clothing

Soccer Is More Suitable For Freshman Athletes
Many years before American football was played, in England, a sport called association football or in
America soccer was created to be played in the public schools of England. American football began as
an evolution of soccer and rugby mixed together. In modern society American football and soccer are
two of the most popular sports for high school boys around the nation. It s always a difficult choice to
decide which sport is more suitable for freshmen athletes. Every fall, high school students who want
to play a sport must make a challenging decision between the rigorous cardio of soccer or the arduous
physical strength required for football.
The scoring system for football and soccer are dissimilar because of the various ways to gain points in
both sports. In soccer, there is one of the simplest scoring systems. The process of scoring in soccer
begins with typically an offensive player of the attacking team kicking the soccer ball into the
opposing team s soccer goal. Each time the ball goes into the goal is one point. This makes soccer a
very easy game to follow especially for athletes just joining the sport. On the other hand, football has
a very complex scoring system. This begins with the kickoff where the team that wins the coin toss
has to choose to kick the football off to the other team or to receive the ball. Then the team that
catches the ball has to run to the opposite end zone to score a touchdown which is worth six points, in
addition, kick a field goal to

Essay about The Grade Inflation Epidemic
The Grade Inflation Epidemic
It s June, and another graduating class is hoping, among other things, to achieve high grades. Of
course, high is a subjective target. Originally a C meant average; today however, the expectations and
pressures to give and receive A s and B s takes its toll on teachers and students alike. This nullifies the
value of the traditional grading scale and creates a host of entirely new problems. The widespread
occurrence of grade inflation seriously affects the credibility of secondary and post secondary
education in America.
The definition of an acceptable grade has changed significantly over the years. Grade inflation seemed
to begin in earnest in the late 1960s after the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gary Coe, principal and athletic director of Mary Walker High School in Springdale, agrees. He says
that he has definitely seen a rise in the average grades. Some students are maintaining much higher
grades with the same work that would have earned much less even five years ago. He further notes
many recent valedictorians of his small school have received well below the average on their SAT
scores. Coe attributes his top student s higher grades and low test scores to qualities possessed in a
student such as: willingness to work and good attitude which aren t always apparent at test time. He
believes that even some of the best students take classes now just to get a grade and not to maximize
their learning. Interestingly, Coe doesn t feel parents put any particular pressure on the teachers to
bestow high grades on their children.
Teachers, on the other hand, have a startlingly different perspective. Kevin Jacka, the high school s
school to work coordinator, head football coach, and PE instructor for the past ten years, says he sees
now that the C grade is not acceptable to most people, and it no longer represents the average student.
The school s policy to make D a failing grade has limited the range of marks to three. He states that he
feels the pressure of parents and their children to give A s and B s , even when students do F work.

Parkinson s Disease As A Medical Condition
Parkinson s disease is one of the few diseases that have been around since ancient times. In the ancient
Indian medical system of Ayurveda this disease was referred to as Kampavata. In AD 175 the
physician, Galen of the western medical literature referred Parkinson s disease as shaking palsy . It
was not until 1817 that a detailed medical essay was published on the subject by London doctor,
James Parkinson. The publication was titled An Essay on the Shaking Palsy . This officially
established Parkinson s disease as a medical condition. The essay was based on six cases he observed

The Modern American View of Disability
In Rosmarie Garland Thomson: The politics of Staring , expresses how our society has changed over
time. She views human s theories in four different visual rhetoric s which in this case I am going to
call them speechmaking s: the wondrous, the realistic, the sentimental and the exotic. From these four
figures of speech Garland has shown our inclination to see disabled people by the way they are
discriminated by the rest of society. Garland makes references to this by showing pictures and
examples that highlights how the modern American world views disability.
The first figure of speech Garland discusses is the wondrous. She points out how the wondrous
represent monsters, giants, meaning the good and evil, The wondrous viewpoint is defined by the
association of the disabled with the normal, creating a disconnect in what the viewer sees as able. By
visualizing a disabled person moving out physical trials ranging from menial tasks to physical feats of
strength and will, the viewer creates a hollowness between the dexterity and capability to perform and
the assumed lack of abilities of the subject. By saying The antecedents of the wondrous disabled
figures are the monsters of antiquity, who inspired awe, foretold the future, or bore divine signs, and
freaks, who were the celebrities in nineteenth century dime museums and sideshows she shows how

The characters had a major role because they were effective with the audience. The film was even
more enhanced with the combination of the director and the casts. It affected me in such a way that I
would react with how the characters would say and make decisions. However, the film lacks
information about Sabine also an important character in the film. I was hoping more of a short
inclusion of a psychological explanation of Sabine s reflection with what her parents are doing. I
would want the question how does it affected her? to be answered, even with the last few scenes of the
film where Jim and Catherine had died.

who controlled and ruined their strengths and weaknesses their lives. The basis of the title of the film

When an advertiser places one of their advertisements into a newspaper, they want their advertisement
to appeal to the readers of that particular magazine. They could have the exact same message, but
considering their audience, they could make it more effective if they use a different strategy to market

Analysis Of A Thousand And One Nights
A Thousand and One Nights is a tale about the over sexed east which is favored by the sexually
repressed west when applied to and analyzed under the lens of Orientalism. This translation of the
text, while not as sexually explicit as Sir Richard Burton s translation, has its fair amount of sexual
promiscuity which paints the middle eastern characters as dishonest, violent, and sexually deviant.
These traits were seen as socially taboo to the west, especially those in Victorian Europe who helped
the tale gain its reputation as a popular exotic story. The two main scenes where these traits come into
play both take place within A Thousand and One Nights frame story with Shahrayar and Shahzarman.
Shahzarman kills his adulterous wife and her lover then leaves to visit Shahrayar in his kingdom.
When Shahrayar s wife and servants are caught in the act they are killed and Shahrayar vows to kill
his future brides on their wedding nights which is when Shahrazad attempts to bring him to his senses.
The two brothers are extremely hot headed and violent and their wives are plagued by insatiable lust,
which plays into the sexually charged barbarity perpetuated by Orientalism. Throughout this paper I
will be using Edward Said s definition of Orientalism. Said defines Orientalism as the following:
Orientalism can be discussed and analyzed as the corporate institution for dealing with the Orient
dealing with it by making statements about it, authorizing views of it, describing it, by

Questions On Online Regulation On The Code Of Cyberspace
LSE ID 201335899 Cyberpaternalism and Network Communitarianism sit in opposition to each other.
Cyberpaternalists believe that online regulation is effected through changes in the code of cyberspace,
while Network Communitarians believe that the community takes part in the regulatory dialogue
through action and reaction. Can the two be reconciled? If not, which is to be preferred and why?
ANSWER As we know world has undergone a digital transformation of an astonishingly wide range
of material artifacts interwoven with social practices in 20th century. Lets take an example of a bank
where a person sits in a wooden cabin with little scraps of paper and an adding machine and replace it
with an ATM accessible 24 hours a day or an example of classroom with the teacher, blackboard,
books and verbal lecture and replace it with materials presented in computer hardware and software
and call it interactive learning . But the boons and banes of this digital technology require constant
surveillance. Censorship is often a matter of perspectives. The legitimizing motivations behind
controlling flows of information often lie in paternalistic desires to protect weaker individuals whether
they are children or adults. The problem of perspectives is one of cultural relativism in the sense that
we limit access to information in an effort to defend important cultural values and social stability. The
purpose of this essay is to ascertain which school of thought regulating the digital

Shield Of Achilles
Hope often contrasts with reality, especially within Greek mythology or similar replications. For
instance, The Shield of Achilles is written by W.H. Auden in the form of a ekphrasis and details the
content on the Shield of Achilles; The Shield of Achilles juxtaposes the idea of hope portrayed by
Thetis versus reality shown through Hephaestus (further referenced as Hep). The speaker in The
Shield of Achilles is blunt in showing Thetis imagery of tranquility, peace and liveliness in
comparison to Hep´s imagery of actuality, war and idleness. Tranquility often becomes contradicted
by what is happening in actuality. As shown in the first four lines of the poem, the speaker´s attitude is
blunt; which is seen when She looked over his shoulder for vines and olive trees, marble well
governed cities and ships upon untamed seas (Lines 1 4). These lines are straight to the point in
showing that Thetis looked over Hep s shoulder and was looking for three things. Thetis, Greek
mother of Achilles instructed Hep´s, Greek god of blacksmiths to make her son a shield with certain
items on it. Thetis wanted things that showed tranquility and items that represented the reverenced
aspect of Greek culture. These items show imagery of Greece being calm and undisturbed, another
things that can be inferred is Thetis, being a mother and only wanting the best things for Achilles
including his safety in a calm city. These items are juxtaposed with actuality when Hephaestus has
done the complete opposite of what Thetis has instructed. Hephaestus created on the shining metal, his
hands had put instead an artificial wilderness and a sky like lead (Lines 5 8). A shift occurs when Hep
places the reality of what the Greeks are facing, which is a place that is becoming altered by man. He
also chooses to place what he wants to place on the shield, instead of what Thetis has instructed him
place. Negative diction also occurs when the speaker uses a world like artificial which usually has a
negative connotation that often indicates fakeness, as well as a sky instead of being blue and happy is
dark heavy metal. Peace, a time of quietness once again ruined by threats of a war occurring. Thetis
again looked over his shoulder for ritual

Get more training at my studio and at other companies as well. (summer intensives)
Audition for companies at the age of 17 18 to see if that will lead me to joining a company first or
going to college.
Whatever path I take first (college or ballet) I will stay lean and slim throughout my life and eat well
balanced meals everyday, and always stay active.
Finish my career with a possible Juilliard degree in Dance and have had been a professional ballerina
at a great ballet company.
Reflections on My Search Doing this research I have learned how to organize the information I ve
found more easily and I find it easier to stick to one topic while writing now. My writing skills have
improved immensely over just one week because, I ve never written an essay this large. I also learned
how to square down tons of facts that I find on websites to only a few important ones. I am glad I
chose the topic I wrote about because, I ve found out so much more about ballet then I had known
before. In addition to all of my achievements, I now have lots of information that I can incorporate in
my career to lead me to a complete and happy life as a professional

Django Reinhardt s Impact On Jazz
Considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time, Django Reinhardt has had an unparalleled impact
on the development of guitar in jazz. This essay will explore the influence of Reinhardt with particular
emphasis on his talent as a guitarist and composer which earned him tremendous respect in the world
of jazz and subsequently enhanced his authority in defining the genre. Moreover, this essay will delve
into Reinhardt s integral role in the creation of gypsy jazz and how this genre has influenced the
development of jazz. Finally, this essay will look at the way Reinhardt has influenced the development
of jazz guitar by inspiring other musicians. Through close analysis of these ideas, a deeper
understanding of the legacy of Django Reinhardt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whilst in Paris, Reinhardt collaborated with numerous American jazz musicians including
saxophonists Benny Carter and Coleman Hawkins, and cornetist Rex Stewart. Due to the prevalence
of Jazz in America, it could be argued that future generations of jazz guitarists were influenced more
by Charles Christian and other American jazz guitarists than Django, however, Reinhardt s influence
was transmitted via these musicians with Mary Osborne recalling a concert in Bismark during the late
1930 s when Christian performed a note for note version of Reinhardt s recording of St. Louis Blues .9
This was also the case with Les Paul who learnt Django s solos by listening to his recordings and went
on to perform them across America. There are a myriad of other celebrated guitar players who have
cited Reinhardt as an inspiration for their music including Wes Montgomery, Chet Atkins, B.B. King,
John McLaughlin, Carlos Santana, Vernon Reid, Andres Segovia and guitar legend Jeff Beck who
claimed that, after listing through all of his own inspirations, of course, it all started with Django. 10
The influence of Django Reinhardt has also been transmitted through popular culture with Django s
music being used in a variety of Woody Allen movies such Sweet and Lowdown and Stardust
Memories as well as more mainstream films such as The Matrix, The Aviator and Chocolat. This has
allowed Reinhardt s

Contribution Of The Galileo On The United States Gps System
contribution to the Galileo similar to the United States GPS system or meteorological satellites. The
Ministry of Defense is responsible for military earth observation and satellite communication

the MOD Directorate General of Armaments. This confusing construct (figure 1) illustrates one
shortfall of German space projects involvement of several different ministries with divergent interests.
In addition, those different national stakeholders have to coordinate its projects with its European

It is a crosscutting global domain within the information environment consisting of the interdependent
network of information technology infrastructures including the Internet, telecommunications
networks, computer systems, and embedded processors and controllers. Synergy is defined as the
interaction or cooperation of two or more organizations, substances, or other agents to produce a
combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects. Cross domain synergy in all joint
function is achieved when the integrated use of land, sea, air, space, and/or cyberspace capabilities
produce a combined effect greater than the sum of the separate effects. In military application, cross
domain synergy is the use of two or more domains to achieve a military advantage. This involves
application of capabilities from one domain to another, with the principal aims of improving
operational performance and reducing unnecessary joint force redundancies. Because of limited space
capabilities, Germany as of today is not able to perform cross domain operation to achieve greater
effects for joint force employment. Furthermore, the five aforementioned domains are perceived as
stovepipes with limited interaction between sea, land, and air space interaction.
The key challenge related to space is to sharpen the national awareness about the use of space and its
significance for national as well as international security. The emphasis of German activities in space

Reflective Conflict
Conflicts are present in our everyday lives, some big and some small. The degree to which they
impact our relationships largely depends on who is involved and what each party s expectations are.
Conflicts can either go onto a constructive or destructive path depending on how the parties involved
handle the given situation or problem. I am currently experiencing a destructive conflict with two of
my roommates and that is what I will be focusing on for this critical analysis paper. Folger, Poole, and
Stutman (2013), define conflict as, the interaction of interdependent people who perceive
incompatibility and the possibility of inference from others as a result of this incompatibility (p. 4).
Using this definition, I will break down my current conflict in order to describe and analyze it using a
variety of concepts and theories. I live in a suite on campus with four other people which consists of
myself, my friend whom I have known since freshman year, her boyfriend, and two other girls who we
did not know prior to moving in. Within a few weeks of being here, my friend blew something very
minor that happened with one of the other girls out of proportion. Threatening text messages were sent
which led to loud, in person arguments. These instances led to a meeting with our RA, and later, a
meeting with the Hall Director and the RA because things escalated and got out of hand. More
problems have arisen, but this time between my friend, her boyfriend, and myself. A few

Tim Hortons Artifact Sample
To Curate my artifact the first thing I did was focus on the image of the Tim Hortons cup and the
double double . However, I did not want to just focus on the double double itself I wanted to curate
Tim Hortons image as whole. Which is why I chose to have images of inside Tim Hortons, while also
showing the brown and plain aesthetic that Tim Hortons has. Also, I wanted to feature taste which is
extremely hard to represent in a digital format. For that part of my exhibit I got some quotes on what
people think Tim Hortons coffee tastes like. In addition to that, I also found an article which explained
the process on how Tim Hortons Develops it s coffee. It gives an interesting perspective on how big
fast food brands go about developing their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, as far as image goes I cannot literally produce a physical representation of a TIm Hortons cup.
The best I could do is pictures of what it looked like at the time. Secondly, while I can show images of
the inside a Tim Hortons I can not show the atmosphere of a Tim Hortons. For instance, how busy the
morning rush is with a line of people trying to get coffee. Or how you see a group of retired people
having a daily discussion at lunch time over coffee. There s only so much that can be done on the
medium of digital curation. Consequently, there are also some key issues when trying to curate the
taste of something online. Because you can say what something taste like and be very descriptive.
Ultimately, you can t truly appreciate what something tastes like until you have actually tasted it.
Lastly, while I can present in words the cultural impact that Tim Hortons and the double double has it
can t be fully represented unless you have seen it. For example, it s hard to picture how much
influence Tim Hortons has had unless you see people with Tim s cups everyday at your university or
at your place of work. By in large I feel like a did an admirable job of curating my artifact in a deep
way that can hopefully give those that don t know about Tim Hortons at least a glimpse into how they
captured the views and values of an entire

Now we are rich, rich with problems. The only small one like mosquitoes could trigger problems. That
s why, because mosquitoes, Chikungunya problems began to adorn this country.

What Are The Characteristics Of A Hero InThe Brothers...
The lesson that I choose to rewrite is lesson two when we discussed The Brothers Grimm and the
German Fairy Tale. In question two you asked what are the characteristics of a hero in these stories
and I feel like I didn t actually use the reading to support how I felt when answering the question. I
think that adventurous, strong and brave are characteristics of a hero in these stories. In each story
there is a fight for what an individual wants or needs and nothing stops them. Rapunzel wants her
prince and the enchantress sends her to a dessert with her twins alone and while blind the prince finds
his family and they live happily ever after. In Rumpelstilzchen the young girl said she would promise
this little man her first born if she became queen and when the time came she had three day to think of
his name and with many days help from messenger she got his name and was able to keep her first
born. These two stories alone show the adventure, bravery and strength of never giving up and getting
what they want no matter what. These are characteristics in each story just told differently. 2. Why is
one story s kind of violence inappropriate while another s violence is accepted almost without notice?
Is there ever a place for violence in works of literature for children? Violence is seen in many different
ways when reading literature. You have to keep into consideration the way it happens, who it hurts,
and the lessons you learn from it. Children in the 21st century are

The Unfair Practices of The World Trade Organization...
The World Trade Organization (WTO) is a set of rules about how governments can protect and
subsidize domestic activity.(Wise) Yet it is this very organization that ignored the pleas from
developing countries to remove these subsidies. In the book The Global Food Economy: The Battle
For the Future Of Farming ,Tony Weis quotes Bello who says consensus WTO style, means the big
trading countries impose their consensus on the less powerful countries. (Wise) The subsidies from the
EU and US distorted the competitive market and unfairly hindered the growth of developing nations.
(Wise) Wise goes on to further quote the WTO President of 2002, Michael Moore, who states that a
reduction in agro. subsidies in developed countries would return more than five times all the
development assistance. Even WTO officials had begun to speak out about subsidies and their unfair
affect on developing countries. The movie Black Gold depicts how the push to liberalize trade at the
global scale through institutions like the WTO, has had an impact on coffee farmers by telling the
story of Tadesse Meskela. Tadesse Meskela is the manager of the Oromia Coffee Farmers Co
operative Union, and represents over 101 individual co operatives and the 74,000 coffee farmers that
make up these co operatives in Southern Ethiopia. Tadesse states that they are producing the best
coffees in the world, yet they are getting very low prices. He goes on to state the price affects all those
involved in the coffee

The Pay Gap Between Men And Women
The pay gap between men and women has become quite a topic today. The difference in pay are very
common now in many career paths where men and women are doing the same work amount. It is rare
to think that when men and women are performing the same task and are just as qualified as each
other that they would get paid the same. As the wage gap is being discussed more, the question is why
do men and women have different wages when they are working the same job. While it seems that
men don t have to take as much time off from work or may work more, we have to look at it from
Women s viewpoints also. Women and Men should be paid equally for the work that they perform.
However, if a Man is working a in a factory or any other job that has them constantly lifting things
and a woman works there and they can t do the same as the man can then, the man should receive
more pay. Women and Men should have the same pay unless they are not performing the same task.
In his article Gender pay gap widens despite AfC , The nursing standard talks about the reasons why
men get paid more in nursing than women. Nursing Standard states that women are more likely to take
career breaks and work part time than men (Nursing Standard 1).
Women get paid less because they are more likely to work part time and take career breaks than men
are. How is this fair to women that have to work for a living and already have their careers and do not
plan on taking a break. This pre judged pay wage for

  • 6. Comparing Plato And Aristotle s View Of Democracy Like the best life, the best system of government is conducted in accordance with excellence. (Aristotle, N. Ethics 1295a 25) In terms of Democracy, Plato and Aristotle differ extensively. For instance, Plato considers Democracy as a fundamentally corrupted form of government, where the possession of power rests upon the will of the masses, which for Plato are incapable of achieving true knowledge. Conversely, Aristotle recognizes Democracy among the best forms of governance. However, he argues that democratic rule, if exercise in the form of Polity, will eventually lead society to pursue the best life. (POL. 1297b 37) In addition, Aristotle and Plato fundamentally disagree in the conception of positive outcomes with democratic governance. Specifically, Aristotle argues that if and only if the majority exercises its power according to the rule of law, the majority s will is consider as valid, since only by following the principles of law a society can achieve the best life. (POL 1295a) Conversely, Plato clearly rejects the possibility of any positive consequence under democratic authority. Since according to him, the masses possession of political authority in a democracy appears to be the complete negation of social order and hierarchy. (REP. 556a 10) Third, there are two major aspects in which Plato and Aristotle criticize democratic freedom. For instance, Plato criticizes democracy mainly because he argues that the particular way in which a democratic government exercises freedom allows individuals to behave lawlessly; therefore living upon their desires. (REP 557a 5) In contrast, Aristotle recognizes two important elements of freedom in a democracy. First, he acknowledges as positive the fact that in a democracy freedom can be understood as the possibility of rule and being ruled in turn. (POL 1317a 40) Next, like Plato, Aristotle criticizes democracy based on the idea that for him, it symbolizes the rule of the majority that has the liberty to act without constrains. Hormones according to www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/nature/etc/hormones can influence the function of the immune system and alter one s behavior. These chemical signals are the reason for many factor including why one s arms are the same length, why one can turn food into a viable fuel, and why one grows through puberty. Hormones are indicative of changes in target cells by binding to hormone receptors. In this way, even though hormones circulate throughout the body and meet different cell types, they only affect cells that possess the necessary receptors. Receptors of a specific hormone can be found on different cells or a small number of specialized cells. Per www.pbs.com/ the thyroid hormones act on different tissue types, stimulating metabolic activity throughout the body. Cells can have receptors for the identical hormone, but often also possess receptors for different types of hormones. The number of receptors that respond to a hormone determines the cell s sensitivity to a specific hormone. The number of receptors that respond to a hormone can change over time, resulting in increasing or decreasing the cell s sensitivity. Often in up regulation, the number of receptors increases to rising hormone levels, making the cell more sensitive to the hormone. Down regulation describes when a cell is decreasing the quantity of a cellular component. When the cells respond to a hormone, they express a specific receptor for that specific hormone. The hormone binds to the receptor protein, resulting in the activation of a mechanism that ultimately leads to cell type specific responses. Receptor binding alters cellular activity, resulting in an increase or decrease in normal body processes. Mahan, a naval officer, used his sea experience to create a theory about naval history that is unlike any other history work. Upon examination of Theodore Momsen s History of the Roman Empire, which included the history of the Second Punic War, Mahan emphasized the significant role that sea communications played in Rome s victory. Additionally, he describes the relevance of different maritime campaigns in various battles that took place during the French and American revolutions. Mahan evaluates ... He starts by discussing how the manner in which a war is fought changes as navies have evolved from galleys to steam ships as well as the advancement of weapons, but that the principles behind maritime war remain the same. In effort to illustrate the importance of sea power throughout history, Mahan details the impact that sea power had on the second Punic War. The control of the water by the Romans forced Hannibal to depart on the devastating venture through the Gaul. Instead of explaining the actual conflict at hand, Mahan explores the strategy that would have been necessary to defeat Rome. The Carthaginians would have needed to invade the Roman Empire in Italy either by sea or by transport through the Gaul. Rome had control over any strategic location available to the Carthaginians during the war and this was all made possible by the sea. Analyzing this war specifically through the actions of the Roman Navy proves that the history of sea power is crucial in understanding the history of the world. Mahan asserts his belief in the importance of learning from history by stating, The battles of the past succeeded or failed according as they were fought in conformity with the principles of war; and the seaman who carefully studies the causes of success or failure will not only detect and gradually assimilate these principles, but will also inquire increased ... Today, most people might know their star sign according to their birthday. You might have even read a horoscope once or twice. However, astrology in and of itself is not to be trusted. Astronomy on the other hand, is the actual science used to encompass our big, endless skies. Astronomy is the study of the universe and its subject matter outside of Earth s atmosphere, while Astrology endeavors to study how the universe and its contents (such as constellations and planetary systems), might directly relate to humans and the events surrounding each person s life. (Temming) Seeing these definitions, we can come to the conclusion Astronomy should be trusted as it is based on proven science, has numerous scientific implications, and realistic applications. Astrology however, has no scientific basis and should only be treated as nothing more than a novelty. The first point on how astronomy should be trusted over astrology is because the study of astronomy is well respected among the scientific community, and is based on facts. These relationships are ultimately embedded into our memory for basically the rest of our lives, and with some shape or form, shape us to who we are today. These relations, similarly have to do with faces, actions and personal experiences that we have never been exposed to before. This type of exposure is apparent in Herman Melville s Typee, where identity is of critical importance to that of Tommo, the narrator, along with the tribe that he encounters while stranded on the island. There are numerous instance as to where Tommo questions his moral and somewhat physical identity in Typee. These events such as Tommos decision to tattoo himself is a major identity crisis because it s not something he, nor his Western culture is really exposed to or familiar with. The Typee practices and societal structures displayed by Melville in Typee allows the reader in some case, to compare and contrast how Western civilization and the other [Typee] reaffirm identity. In a sense Tommo and his decision, by the end of the novel, really allows the reader to understand what creates and helps maintain identity for ones self. Melville, in the beginning, introduces Tommo as an individual that prefers to be unidentified or wants to be invisible to others, but wants to be someone whom takes pleasure in the observation of others. • 21. What Color Attracts The Most What Color Attracts the Human Eye the Most? Introduction The human eye can see 7,000,000 colors, but which color attracts it the most? Figuring out what color attracts the most attention could be really beneficial in many ways. Research shows that when you are buying something, the visual factor is almost 93%. That means that choosing a color that attracts a lot of attention is crucial. This experiment will show what color attracts the human eye the most. Before talking about what color attracts a lot of attention, how do humans see color? To see color, first the light hits an object. Then the object absorbs some of the light. Then, it reflects the rest of it. The wavelengths of the reflected light determine what you see. Warm colors attract the most attention. Some warm colors are red, yellow, and orange. Yellow is the easiest color to see. Yellow is used for warning signs because it is easy to see. Yellow is more visible because more light is reflected on bright colors. This causes excessive stimulation of the eye. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The start of a BMX race depends highly on the function of ATP PCr system allowing the rider to apply the highest levels of peak power. Stressing this in training allows for the rider to preform at the highest level during racing. A BMX race can be broken down into two smaller parts the race to the first turn and the race to the finish. The race to the first turn takes about 15 seconds and the race to the finish take about 40 seconds. The race to the first turn is a huge decider of the overall outcome of the race. If you can lead to the first corner you can block riders from passing you for the rest of the race. It is much easier to block riders then it is to accelerate around them to make a pass. American football began as an evolution of soccer and rugby mixed together. In modern society American football and soccer are two of the most popular sports for high school boys around the nation. It s always a difficult choice to decide which sport is more suitable for freshmen athletes. Every fall, high school students who want to play a sport must make a challenging decision between the rigorous cardio of soccer or the arduous physical strength required for football. The scoring system for football and soccer are dissimilar because of the various ways to gain points in both sports. In soccer, there is one of the simplest scoring systems. The process of scoring in soccer begins with typically an offensive player of the attacking team kicking the soccer ball into the opposing team s soccer goal. Each time the ball goes into the goal is one point. This makes soccer a very easy game to follow especially for athletes just joining the sport. On the other hand, football has a very complex scoring system. This begins with the kickoff where the team that wins the coin toss has to choose to kick the football off to the other team or to receive the ball. Then the team that catches the ball has to run to the opposite end zone to score a touchdown which is worth six points, in addition, kick a field goal to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She views human s theories in four different visual rhetoric s which in this case I am going to call them speechmaking s: the wondrous, the realistic, the sentimental and the exotic. From these four figures of speech Garland has shown our inclination to see disabled people by the way they are discriminated by the rest of society. Garland makes references to this by showing pictures and examples that highlights how the modern American world views disability. The first figure of speech Garland discusses is the wondrous. She points out how the wondrous represent monsters, giants, meaning the good and evil, The wondrous viewpoint is defined by the association of the disabled with the normal, creating a disconnect in what the viewer sees as able. By visualizing a disabled person moving out physical trials ranging from menial tasks to physical feats of strength and will, the viewer creates a hollowness between the dexterity and capability to perform and the assumed lack of abilities of the subject. Analysis Of A Thousand And One Nights A Thousand and One Nights is a tale about the over sexed east which is favored by the sexually repressed west when applied to and analyzed under the lens of Orientalism. This translation of the text, while not as sexually explicit as Sir Richard Burton s translation, has its fair amount of sexual promiscuity which paints the middle eastern characters as dishonest, violent, and sexually deviant. These traits were seen as socially taboo to the west, especially those in Victorian Europe who helped the tale gain its reputation as a popular exotic story. The two main scenes where these traits come into play both take place within A Thousand and One Nights frame story with Shahrayar and Shahzarman. Shahzarman kills his adulterous wife and her lover then leaves to visit Shahrayar in his kingdom. When Shahrayar s wife and servants are caught in the act they are killed and Shahrayar vows to kill his future brides on their wedding nights which is when Shahrazad attempts to bring him to his senses. The two brothers are extremely hot headed and violent and their wives are plagued by insatiable lust, which plays into the sexually charged barbarity perpetuated by Orientalism. Can the two be reconciled? If not, which is to be preferred and why? ANSWER As we know world has undergone a digital transformation of an astonishingly wide range of material artifacts interwoven with social practices in 20th century. Lets take an example of a bank where a person sits in a wooden cabin with little scraps of paper and an adding machine and replace it with an ATM accessible 24 hours a day or an example of classroom with the teacher, blackboard, books and verbal lecture and replace it with materials presented in computer hardware and software and call it interactive learning . But the boons and banes of this digital technology require constant surveillance. Censorship is often a matter of perspectives. The legitimizing motivations behind controlling flows of information often lie in paternalistic desires to protect weaker individuals whether they are children or adults. The problem of perspectives is one of cultural relativism in the sense that we limit access to information in an effort to defend important cultural values and social stability. The speaker in The Shield of Achilles is blunt in showing Thetis imagery of tranquility, peace and liveliness in comparison to Hep´s imagery of actuality, war and idleness. Tranquility often becomes contradicted by what is happening in actuality. As shown in the first four lines of the poem, the speaker´s attitude is blunt; which is seen when She looked over his shoulder for vines and olive trees, marble well governed cities and ships upon untamed seas (Lines 1 4). These lines are straight to the point in showing that Thetis looked over Hep s shoulder and was looking for three things. Thetis, Greek mother of Achilles instructed Hep´s, Greek god of blacksmiths to make her son a shield with certain items on it. Thetis wanted things that showed tranquility and items that represented the reverenced aspect of Greek culture. These items show imagery of Greece being calm and undisturbed, another things that can be inferred is Thetis, being a mother and only wanting the best things for Achilles including his safety in a calm city. These items are juxtaposed with actuality when Hephaestus has done the complete opposite of what Thetis has instructed. Hephaestus created on the shining metal, his hands had put instead an artificial wilderness and a sky like lead (Lines 5 8). A shift occurs when Hep places the reality of what the Greeks are facing, which is a place that is becoming altered by man. He also chooses to place what he wants to place on the shield, instead of what Thetis has instructed him place. Negative diction also occurs when the speaker uses a world like artificial which usually has a negative connotation that often indicates fakeness, as well as a sky instead of being blue and happy is dark heavy metal. Peace, a time of quietness once again ruined by threats of a war occurring. Thetis again looked over his shoulder for ritual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Whilst in Paris, Reinhardt collaborated with numerous American jazz musicians including saxophonists Benny Carter and Coleman Hawkins, and cornetist Rex Stewart. Due to the prevalence of Jazz in America, it could be argued that future generations of jazz guitarists were influenced more by Charles Christian and other American jazz guitarists than Django, however, Reinhardt s influence was transmitted via these musicians with Mary Osborne recalling a concert in Bismark during the late 1930 s when Christian performed a note for note version of Reinhardt s recording of St. Louis Blues .9 This was also the case with Les Paul who learnt Django s solos by listening to his recordings and went on to perform them across America. There are a myriad of other celebrated guitar players who have cited Reinhardt as an inspiration for their music including Wes Montgomery, Chet Atkins, B.B. King, John McLaughlin, Carlos Santana, Vernon Reid, Andres Segovia and guitar legend Jeff Beck who claimed that, after listing through all of his own inspirations, of course, it all started with Django. 10 The influence of Django Reinhardt has also been transmitted through popular culture with Django s music being used in a variety of Woody Allen movies such Sweet and Lowdown and Stardust Memories as well as more mainstream films such as The Matrix, The Aviator and Chocolat. Because of limited space capabilities, Germany as of today is not able to perform cross domain operation to achieve greater effects for joint force employment. • 46. Reflective Conflict Conflicts are present in our everyday lives, some big and some small. The degree to which they impact our relationships largely depends on who is involved and what each party s expectations are. Conflicts can either go onto a constructive or destructive path depending on how the parties involved handle the given situation or problem. I am currently experiencing a destructive conflict with two of my roommates and that is what I will be focusing on for this critical analysis paper. Folger, Poole, and Stutman (2013), define conflict as, the interaction of interdependent people who perceive incompatibility and the possibility of inference from others as a result of this incompatibility (p. 4). Using this definition, I will break down my current conflict in order to describe and analyze it using a variety of concepts and theories. I live in a suite on campus with four other people which consists of myself, my friend whom I have known since freshman year, her boyfriend, and two other girls who we did not know prior to moving in. Within a few weeks of being here, my friend blew something very minor that happened with one of the other girls out of proportion. Threatening text messages were sent which led to loud, in person arguments. These instances led to a meeting with our RA, and later, a meeting with the Hall Director and the RA because things escalated and got out of hand. More problems have arisen, but this time between my friend, her boyfriend, and myself. A few ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Tim Hortons Artifact Sample To Curate my artifact the first thing I did was focus on the image of the Tim Hortons cup and the double double . However, I did not want to just focus on the double double itself I wanted to curate Tim Hortons image as whole. Which is why I chose to have images of inside Tim Hortons, while also showing the brown and plain aesthetic that Tim Hortons has. Also, I wanted to feature taste which is extremely hard to represent in a digital format. For that part of my exhibit I got some quotes on what people think Tim Hortons coffee tastes like. In addition to that, I also found an article which explained the process on how Tim Hortons Develops it s coffee. Firstly, as far as image goes I cannot literally produce a physical representation of a TIm Hortons cup. The best I could do is pictures of what it looked like at the time. Secondly, while I can show images of the inside a Tim Hortons I can not show the atmosphere of a Tim Hortons. For instance, how busy the morning rush is with a line of people trying to get coffee. Or how you see a group of retired people having a daily discussion at lunch time over coffee. There s only so much that can be done on the medium of digital curation. Consequently, there are also some key issues when trying to curate the taste of something online. Because you can say what something taste like and be very descriptive. Ultimately, you can t truly appreciate what something tastes like until you have actually tasted it. Lastly, while I can present in words the cultural impact that Tim Hortons and the double double has it can t be fully represented unless you have seen it. For example, it s hard to picture how much influence Tim Hortons has had unless you see people with Tim s cups everyday at your university or at your place of work. • 49. What Are The Characteristics Of A Hero InThe Brothers... The lesson that I choose to rewrite is lesson two when we discussed The Brothers Grimm and the German Fairy Tale. In question two you asked what are the characteristics of a hero in these stories and I feel like I didn t actually use the reading to support how I felt when answering the question. I think that adventurous, strong and brave are characteristics of a hero in these stories. In each story there is a fight for what an individual wants or needs and nothing stops them. Rapunzel wants her prince and the enchantress sends her to a dessert with her twins alone and while blind the prince finds his family and they live happily ever after. In Rumpelstilzchen the young girl said she would promise this little man her first born if she became queen and when the time came she had three day to think of his name and with many days help from messenger she got his name and was able to keep her first born. These two stories alone show the adventure, bravery and strength of never giving up and getting what they want no matter what. These are characteristics in each story just told differently. 2. • 50. The Unfair Practices of The World Trade Organization... The World Trade Organization (WTO) is a set of rules about how governments can protect and subsidize domestic activity.(Wise) Yet it is this very organization that ignored the pleas from developing countries to remove these subsidies. In the book The Global Food Economy: The Battle For the Future Of Farming ,Tony Weis quotes Bello who says consensus WTO style, means the big trading countries impose their consensus on the less powerful countries. (Wise) The subsidies from the EU and US distorted the competitive market and unfairly hindered the growth of developing nations. (Wise) Wise goes on to further quote the WTO President of 2002, Michael Moore, who states that a reduction in agro. subsidies in developed countries would return more than five times all the development assistance. Even WTO officials had begun to speak out about subsidies and their unfair affect on developing countries. The movie Black Gold depicts how the push to liberalize trade at the global scale through institutions like the WTO, has had an impact on coffee farmers by telling the story of Tadesse Meskela. Tadesse Meskela is the manager of the Oromia Coffee Farmers Co operative Union, and represents over 101 individual co operatives and the 74,000 coffee farmers that make up these co operatives in Southern Ethiopia. • 51. The Pay Gap Between Men And Women The pay gap between men and women has become quite a topic today. The difference in pay are very common now in many career paths where men and women are doing the same work amount. It is rare to think that when men and women are performing the same task and are just as qualified as each other that they would get paid the same. As the wage gap is being discussed more, the question is why do men and women have different wages when they are working the same job. While it seems that men don t have to take as much time off from work or may work more, we have to look at it from Women s viewpoints also. Women and Men should be paid equally for the work that they perform. However, if a Man is working a in a factory or any other job that has them constantly lifting things and a woman works there and they can t do the same as the man can then, the man should receive more pay. Women and Men should have the same pay unless they are not performing the same task. In his article Gender pay gap widens despite AfC , The nursing standard talks about the reasons why men get paid more in nursing than women. Nursing Standard states that women are more likely to take career breaks and work part time than men (Nursing Standard 1). Women get paid less because they are more likely to work part time and take career breaks than men are. How is this fair to women that have to work for a living and already have their careers and do not plan on taking a break. This pre judged pay wage for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
