John Locke And Plato s Views On Human Nature
Human Nature
Human nature or man s behavior in nature is a widely discussed topic in philosophy. Thomas
Hobbes, John Locke, and Plato are among some of the many philosophers that have covered this
topic in detail. John Locke expressed a generous view of human behavior. He states, All mankind...
Being all equal and independent no one ought to harm another in his life, health, liberty, or
possessions. 1 . This quote refers to human nature, which is heavily discussed by John Locke. Locke
is not the only philosopher who shared his views on man s behavior in a state of nature, but others
such as Thomas Hobbes and Plato. In the television series The Walking Dead the views of Locke,
Hobbes, and Plato on humans in the state of nature are all shown ... Show more content on

The television series The Walking Dead is a show based in a post apocalyptic world where the
undead roam around feeding off the last known survivors. This show is a perfect example of
man in a state of nature since there are no more governments or formal civil authorities. In the
series people fight to survive against the elements, zombies, and other people. This leads to
survivors joining together to form groups making their chances of survival more likely. Rick
Grimes is the main character in the series, he is the one who leads his group. Rick and his group
face enemies along the way whether it be disease, walkers (zombies), or other groups.
The television series The Walking Dead mostly tends to favor Thomas Hobbes views. The show
portrays Hobbes three reasons for violence quite often in the show. Particularly when the
Governor s group attacks Rick s group. The Governor attacks Rick s group for all of the three
reasons that Hobbes claims violence is used for. Invasion, the Governor tries to invade Rick s
group primarily because he wants their home. The Governor wants to take the prison that Rick s
group resides in using violence. He attacks the prison with weapons and even using a tank, so
that he can gain control over Rick s territory, food, and even some of his people. On to the second
reason for violence being safety. Using the same example in The Walking Dead the Governor was
attacking the prison so that he could have a safe haven for his

The Experience Machine By Nozick
Have you ever wished you could have anything you wanted in life? I know I have. I ve always
wanted a world where everything would be to my liking and nothing would be to my
dissatisfaction. Nozick sets up a scenario where we can get a maximum amount of pleasure by
plugging into an experience machine that allows us to undergo anything we wanted while we are
in a tank with electrodes attached to our heads. One will be plugged in for two years at a time but
while one is attached, the experiences are going to seem like they are actually happening. He takes
this machine to disprove the hedonism view that says consciously experiencepleasure is the most
important thing to living a good life. In his opinion he would not plug in because while one is in
the machine, one cannot do certain things, be a certain person or come in contact with reality. I had
never really thought about the option of experiencing anything I wanted versus living a normal life
before, but after reading The Experience Machineby Nozick, I would pick living in a normal life
because even though experiencing anything I wanted would cause as much pleasure as possible, it
limits one to things that are important to humanlife such as being able to physically perform or
experience things and having an impact in society
The experience machine makes one feel like you are actually performing or experiencing the
things one is doing while plugged in but in reality, as Nozick described, you are floating in a tank

Primary Cause Of The Civil War Essay
The Civil War began from the battle at Fort Sumter, where the Confederacy took Fort Sumter from
the Union. The root of the Civil War is probably one of the most disputed topics in American
history. Some historians argue that slavery was the primary cause of the American Civil War,
whereas others argue that slaverymay have been a reason, but not the primary cause of the Civil
War. They argued that the main reason of the Civil War was State s rights were being jeopardized,
which led to the State s seceding from the Union. Starting off, the Civil War began because the
south wanted slavery mainly because they wanted to have workers without having to pay them.
Which allowed the South to make more money to either buy more slaves, more land,... Show more

Which means, that this war which surrounds the issue of slavery will affect the whole continent of
United States. In contrast, the people claim the war was over state rights was because President
Lincoln stated he wanted to abolish slavery in all the United States but the Southern states
claimed Lincoln didn t have the power to do that. They claimed state s rights gave the power to
decide if slavery was legal or not to state governments and not the Federal government. The issue
was not slavery, but who decided whether slavery was acceptable, local institutions or a distant
central government power. The war was indeed about protecting the institution of slavery, but
only as a specific case of a state s right to declare a federal law null and void. Southern states
sought to secede because they believed that the federal government had no authority to tell them
how to run their affairs. The primary reason for the Civil War was indeed because of slavery.
The South wanted to break from the North because the South wanted to allow slavery whereas,
the North wanted to end slavery. There was no controversy on whether the war began over the
fact that the North wanted to end slavery whereas the South didn t. However, people soon began
to declare the Civil War began mainly because of the State s worry of their rights. According to

The Importance Of Technology And Digital Media
It is evident that society has surrounded itself with technology. Technology and digital media are
mass media outlets that will ultimately affect our perception and ability to interpret and actively
analyze messages. Unfortunately, nefarious characters with shady intentions can take advantage of
this and spread false information. Thus, technology and digitalmediadegrade the most common
forms of discussion. The rapid expansion of technology and digital medialeads to poor mental
health, decreased quality of face to face communication, and the inability to discern false media
sources. It is imperative that society acknowledges our decline in face to face communication and
respond as a unified unit to strive to step away from technology and to interact with those around us
more effectively.
Technology has expanded at an unprecedented rate. Per the U.S. Census, 76% of households
reported having a computer in 2011, compared with only 8% in 1984 . (Drago, 2015, p.2).
Computers and digital media allow us to access information far more readily than ever before. From
the introduction of computers, humans have adapted to this new technology, bringing it into our
households and including them in daily routines, giving the ability to access digital information
without needing to read it from a physical direct source. Long gone are the days where painstaking
research meant going to the library and pouring through countless pages of research notes, papers,
encyclopedias, and reference material. The need to find something is brought up and the cultivated
21st century instinct reverts individuals to Google or to other digital media outlets for our
information. Digital media as well has expanded swiftly. From 2005 to 2009, participation in digital
networking sites more than quadrupled (Chou, Hunt, Beckjord, Moser, Hesse, 2009, pg.1). Digital
media is expanding at a stunning rate, but not always for the better.
From the statistics introduced, we can see the rapid expansion of technology and digital media.
Digital media stemming from technology is one of the culprits to human s issues. Digital media is
not all bad; it gives individuals the opportunity to reacquaint past relationships, express emotion,
and keep friends and

Analysis Of Ezekiel s The Book Of Ezekiel
The Book of Ezekiel contains three different sections in which all three address a subject matter.
There s almost nothing mentioned about Ezekiel in the book, his name is only mentioned twice
surprisingly. Ezekiel was one of the more youthful men taken to Babylon in the first captivity,
which happened in 597 B.C. In spite of the fact that Ezekiel existed amid a period when the
Babylonians consistently crushed Israel his confidence stayed solid with one God, Yahweh. Not at
all like Ezekiel, countless Israelitesin the midst of this time had faith in more than just one god.
Yahweh did not agree with this in light of the way that the Israelites went into a concurrence with
him. This vow suggested that they couldn t continue admiring different icons, for on the off chance
that they did Yahweh would radiate his fury upon them. Ezekiel understood this and he knew that
this was the reason why they were being punished. Yahweh utilizes Ezekiel to transfer this message
to his kin and reveal to them the discipline that they will need to uncover due to their wrongdoings.
The book opens with a record of the vision that summoned Ezekiel to his prophetic calling. In his
vision he saw a human like creature with four faces and four wings, and above these creatures
was a dome that looked like a throne. On that throne was a human like figure that resembles the
power of God. Ezekiel portrays his vision as a complex picture that symbolizes the magnificence of
Yahweh and broadcasts Yahweh s

Social Functionalism
Functionalism was the prevailing branch of western Human science until the 1960s since when it
has been progressively reprimanded by sociologists favoring distinctive sociological points of
view. Functionalists contend that social orders comprise of between related social foundations,
for example, schools, broad communications, political frameworks, the Congregation and the
family each of which contribute emphatically to the support of soundness of society in general.
That is: these establishments are said to be useful for social orders all in all. Extensively talking
it is accepted by functionalists that social orders work in light of a legitimate concern for the
greater part of their individuals with the goal that there is no purpose behind key clash in the
public eye. Rather there is a high level of accord that social orders are composed proficiently and
moderately decently. The primary Functionalist scholars of the family are G P Murdock and Talcott
Parsons. Murdock contended on the premise of his studies that the atomic family was an all
inclusive social establishment and that it existed generally in light of the fact that it satisfied four
essential capacities for society : the sexual, conceptive, monetary and instruction capacities. Other
non Functionalist sociologists have contended, in any case, that the presence of the... Show more

Dome Tents
There are many different types of camping tents, and the tent that you choose will depend heavily
on the type of camping that you will be doing. The tent that you choose for a family vacation will
likely differ from the tent that you would choose to take with you on a hiking trip. Before deciding
on a tent, you should first ask yourself what you will need from the tent that you choose. Will you
be constantly putting it up and taking it down on a hiking trip? If so, you should try to find a
campingtent that is easily set up, and easily taken down to save yourself some time. There are many
different styles of camping tents;

As per the name, these tents usually have a large frame that is held together by poles and ties
throughout. Early frame tents were known to be very heavy, but recent innovations have made
them quite light, and very easy to transport from one location to another. These tents are among the
hardest tents to set up, and you should always ensure that you have enough time int he day left to
put the tent up while there is still day light. These tents have a large amount of space inside of the
tent, and do not use up as much ground area as larger dome tents.
Ridge Tents
Ridge tents are generally used by one person, and are not ideal for families. These tents are
among the easiest to set up, and are often used by hikers and campers who will be moving
locations frequently during their hike. They are shaped like a wedge, with the larger end being
near the entrance, and the slimmer end near the back end of the tent. They can hold as many as
three people, but it is recommended that one to two people sleep in ridge tents.
The camping tent that you choose should depend heavily upon the type of camping that you plan
to do. Your tent is your home base and your shelter, so it is important that you choose a tent that is
large enough, and easy enough for you to carry from one location to another if need

Blue Jeans, the Ultimate American Icon Essay examples
Blue Jeans, the Ultimate American Icon
Gold was discovered in California in 1849. This resulted in more than eighty thousand American s
rushing to California. The pioneering spirit spread and by 1890, the West s population reached
nearly 17 million. The west became the most racially diverse part of the country. All were in search
of a better life for themselves and their families, seeking what would become known as the
American Dream. During this time innovation and creation were prompting remarkable growth in
industry. New products that made life more tolerable were spreading to all classes of people. One
popular item of clothing that can trace its roots to the Gold Rush is blue jeans. Blue jeans grew out

When film spread across the country in the early 1900 s so did romanticized pictures of the west.
Western films portrayed the conquest of the frontier in the name of civilization. In these films, the
plot was almost always about good versus bad. The films usually showed the cowboy riding into a
lawless town and restoring order. Typical elements of western films included breathtaking settings
and open landscapes. In all the western films, the cowboys wore the same wardrobe, blue jeans
and boots. Americans living in the East became enamored with the West. Easterners began traveling
west to places like dude ranches to experience the spirit of the Wild West. Of course, the experience
was not complete with out the costume. Thus, blue jeans were purchased for the first time by non
westerners.
Blue jeans were no longer just for the hard working miners. People from the East bought them for
trips to the West. They brought them back East with them. In the East, blue jeans were not worn
often by all. Schoolchildren, boys in particular were often the only ones wearing them. Parents,
especially those of limited means, bought jeans for their children because of their durability.
During the 1930 s blue jeans were found all throughout schools. Children grew up wearing blue
jeans. Jeans had become a common article of clothing for a new generation. Blue jeans sales rose
at a steady pace after the Great Depression.

Examples Of 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens
Seven Habits Essay
Sean Covey s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is intended as a guide to help teens improve
themselves and become successful in life. Its primary focuses are how to take control of your life,
set and achieve goals, build friendships, maintain quality relationships, withstand peer pressure, and
improve self image. It consists of seven habits Be Proactive, Begin with the End in Mind, Put First
Things First, Think Win Win, Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood, Synergize, and
Sharpen the saw. These habits are each designed to help you lead your best life. From this book, I
have learned to take care of and love myself, maintain healthy relationships with others, work
towards my goals, and resist anything that could potentially harm me or prevent me from doing
these things.
The first habit portrayed in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is Be Proactive. Being
proactive means taking responsibility of your life and thinking before you act. As the book states,
Proactive people are aware that they can t control everything that happens to them, but they can
control what they do about it. The opposite of being proactive is being reactive, which is what the
book is trying to steer you away from. Reactive people act on feelings and don t take the time to
assess the situation. This habit has taught me that how you react to situations determines the
outcome. Even if the situation is negative, if you are proactive and have a good, responsible

Essay on Anger and Violence in Of Mice and Men
In Of Mice and Men, anger and violence is of common recurrence. Anger, as shown by many
characters, is always around because of fear, jealousy and anxiety.
Lennie
is always the source of this anger, whether it be toward him, because
of him, or
from him. One of the first characters to portray anger in John Steinbeck s Novel is George, Lennies
companion. Straight away in the Novel, anger is shown towards
Lennie, Georges anger is
because Lennie wants something they do not have, and because it is Lennie who is pleading,
George is Expected to have it. This is only due to Lennies innocence. George tells him, Well we

Another part of the Novel, where both anger and violence is shown is in Curley. Curley once was a
welterweight boxing champion, but now he is older and his dream has ended, he has become
the son of the boss at the ranch. Both of these elements leave Curley always getting annoyed
with most ranch workers and trying to show off to them but all this gets him is people who hate
him. yes, it makes him feel in charge and the boss, which he is not but his anger and hatred
towards others leaves him socially out on his own with no one to talk to, this then aggravating
him further making him much more violent. Also, in the Novel, Curley gets intimidated by much
bigger men, so Curley tries to turn that around and make the much bigger man (in this case
Lennie) feel unwelcome but all this does is that Curley ends up being even more socially out on
his own which then makes him want to show who is the boss (or in this case the bosses son) and
starts getting aggressive, then starting a fight with Lennie. Curley starts this fight with Lennie
because Curley wants himself to still believe he has the power to be a welterweight champion
again fighting against much bigger men and when Curley fights Lennie, he is taught a lesson by
Lennie and knows that he needs to calm his life down and make some friends. This example of

Theoretical Problems Of Ethics And Ethics
Theoretical Problems of Ethics
Introduction
Ethics is the conception about the right and wrong . It is related to the man and the society. It
supports the concept of doing good things and disgraces the thinking of behaving in the wrong way
with others. It is the well known fact that the ethics don t implement on the logics in doing right or
wrong. Along with sometimes it can stand against the morality. For example the death sentence is
ethically wrong, because it takes the life of a man, which can become the better part of society in
future. So, ethically the death sentence should be stopped. But, the morally death sentence creates
fear among the people and they get the lesson for the future that who will be done wrong with
others will face the death at the end.
Along with this, ethics has some theoretical problems. These problems are related to different
aspects of ethics which are not justified on the basis of philosophy. Most of the times these
problems create confusion in the minds of human beings to identify what is right and what is
wrong in certain situations.
Three theoretical problems of ethics
Mainly ethics have three theoretical problems. First one is the problem of the origins of ethics
which means it is a problem creating for the people to find out that what is right and what is wrong.
The Second one is the problem of relativism which holds the question that what is the relationship
of ethics with the society (Mizzoni, 2009). The third one is the problem

Holmes And Watson Research Paper
There are a string of dynamic duos that fight crime throughout history, from Batman and Robin
to Starsky and Hutch, and somewhere along the list is the pairing of Sherlock Holmes and
Watson and there is no doubt that this pairing is an interesting one. They seem like such
opposites but that is a big factor in why they work so well together. It works because it embodies
the old time saying: opposites attract . Sherlock is this detective genius that does not feel things or
really understand the people around him so he has Watson to fall back on. In a way they teach
each other. Holmes helps Watson become a better detective while Watson teaches Holmes how to
interact with the outside world. It is said that this pairing was one of Doyle s greatest... Show more

It would only take a few pages for the brilliant Sherlock Holmes to solve the mystery and tell his
readers his decision. Also with the way he speaks and his mannerisms most people might not
even be able to translate Holmes s language into something the everyday populous can
understand. This means that the risk of the stories fading out and never being remembered is a
very real possibility. On the other side of the coin, if everything was only seen and told from
Watson s point of view there would not be a very mysterious element about it. For example,
when he is staying with Sir Henry at the moor the story seems to drag because he only notices
the obvious things that seem to be odd. If this was all the story had to offer the audience might
dislike Watson just as much as they would a solo Holmes. Some things that work well together do
not work very well apart. This pairing is definitely one of those

To Kill A Mockingbird Setting Analysis
I think there s just one kind of folks. Folks (Lee 304). This concept that Scout brings up goes
against what others Maycomb believe in as Maycomb County from To Kill a Mockingbird by
Harper Lee has lots of prejudice. Two reasons why the setting is very significant are, Maycomb
County is a small town the significance of that is that everyone knows each other and often have
the same views as each other this in turn causes prejudice. Also, Maycomb community finds their
history to be very important this changes how people act which shows how the setting could have
major effects. In Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird, setting is very significant. Harper Lee uses

In Maycomb the actions of your relatives in the past affects your future if no one likes your
relatives in the past they will not like you to. This is why setting can be so significant to the novel.
Even children find it shameful to not understand their family history as it is a source of pride for
the people of Maycomb. Scout says, Being Southerners, it was a source of shame to some
members of the family that we had no recorded ancestors on either side of the Battle of Hastings
(3). To Kill a Mockingbird takes place around 1935 approximately 870 years earlier is when the
Battle of Hastings took place. This would seem absurd to other people since this event took place
hundreds of years ago. However, since the setting is Maycomb which is in the south this is very
important to them. This is concept is due only to the setting which shows just how important it is
to the novel. This next evidence will further prove that people from Maycomb feel like history is
crucial to their lives. Scout says, It was a sad thing that my father had neglected to tell me about the
Finch family or install any pride into his children (176). This furthers the knowledge that everyone
in Maycomb even children believe it is necessary to learn about their heritage and about family
history. In Maycomb people find history so important that they make plays about it. Mrs.

Building A Strong Faith Community Essay
Building a strong faith community is the primary mission of St. Timothy Catholic School.
Consequently, administrators and teachers work together to provide students with formal religious
education, enriched with faith centered activities and assignments. Through such activities as
sacramental preparation, saint reports, and devotions to Mary, students are encouraged to learn
about their faith, develop a deep and personal relationship with Jesus, and spread the good news.
Furthermore, as primary educators of their children, parents are welcome to participate in the
school faith community. Most notably, St. Timothy School parents developed the Mary s Corner
component of the school website. Contributing to the Catholic identity, Mary s Corner is a parent
created and maintained blog on faith filled activities, and other information that helps parents stay
connected to the faith community.
The St. Timothy School Infiorata To foster and enhance the faith community, St. Timothy Catholic
School held an Infiorata. Traditionally, Infiorata is a flowerart festival held in Italy, among other
countries, as a prelude to the feast of Corpus Christi. In this centuries old tradition, townspeople
throughout Italy work through the night on Saturday, to cover the streets with religious images
depicted using only flower petals. On Sunday morning, in celebration of the feast of Corpus Christi,
the bishop carries the Blessed Sacrament in procession, walking on the flower carpet.

A View From The Bridge Persuasive Essay
I have two predictions so far about the book I am reading. I predict that Roland and Eddie will

His throat hurts, hurts so bad. We should have brought some astin too, he thinks, and then tries
to laugh: all the drugs for him none for Eddie. (King 186). At the beginning of the book, some
giant lobster like animals took two of Roland s fingers and one of his toes. Not only was he
weak from traveling, he now is suffering from blood loss and infection. Later in the book when
Roland takes Eddie back into his world, Eddie brings some aspirin with to try and help Roland.

Also, they are pretty much low on everything. They have no water, no good food, and no fresh

on to try to find the Dark Tower. Tower, he mouths, because now he can t even manage a husk...
North, the gunslinger mouths. North, I told you (King 191). In the last book, Roland was on a
quest, and it did not end after the man in black died. His main goal in life is to find the dark
tower which is why I think he will still keep going with Eddie. He will continue with Eddie
because Eddie needs to help him. Also, Eddie is one of the three people Roland has to meet on
his quest, so Roland will most likely keep going with Eddie. In the last book, the man in black
predicted that Roland would meet someone to go with him on his quest, and that is what

In a market with hundreds of players globally, Tesla had to compete in one of the most mature and
challenging industries in the world. Rather than being influenced by Detroit Motor City, home of
the Big Three American auto titans, General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler, Tesla decided to start its
company elsewhere. Tesla Motorswas founded in 2003 by a few engineers in Silicon Valley, who
wanted to prove that electric cars could be better than gasoline powered vehicles (Tesla, 2016)
Favorable Access to local universities
One of the most outstanding characteristics of the innovation powerhouse Silicon Valley that
helped Tesla as a startup is the intrinsic network of facilities infusing the entire environment.
Some of the most prestigious research universities in the world (e.g. University of California,
Berkeley and San Francisco; Stanford University) are authorities of new technologies and
inventions. As a startup, Silicon Valley s top researchers provided Tesla the opportunity of
exploiting these growing pool of talent by collaborating with them. In fact, Tesla and Berkeley
teamed up to research on solar storage technologies (SolarCity, 2010) that would later on help
Tesla to start building solar powered charging stations for their electric cars (Parrott, 2015). Tesla

Women Years Ago Vs. Women Today
Women one hundred years ago VS women today Women one hundred years ago were drastically
different than women today in many aspects of their lives. Soon after the turn of the 20th
century, a surge in women s independence surfaced. This was largely due to the fact that
women were urged by Rosie the Riveter and other propaganda to replace men in factory jobs to
support the war effort and provide income for their families. Women s lifestyles changed from
then on, including their hairstyles, clothing, and overall personalities. The culture surrounding
women in the early 1900 s, especially in terms of the way that they dressed, was drastically
different than that surrounding women in today s society. The typical everyday clothes that
women would wear in the 1900 s were usually long dresses or clothes that covered most of their
bodies. Between the years 1900 1909 there were two key trends, the La Belle Epoque and the
Gibson Girl. They were very much alike, they both consisted of a corsetto make the waist skinnier
and the bosom and backside larger, but it remained modest to the standards of that period. Both
of these styles were very high class and were custom for the wealthier people of the day, this is
due to the dresses being made out of luxury fabrics and rhinestones. However, from 1910 1919, the
styles began to change when women became tired of wearing the puffy dresses and tight corsets.
They wanted something more comfortable, so they came out with three styles called

1.Shakespeare creates a pun between a cobbler and soles. A cobbler fixes shoes, and on a shoe,
there is a sole. Cobbler uses the pun that he is a mender of damaged soles, which factually means
that he repairs the soles of shoes, but also means that he mends souls. The cobbler indicates that his
job involves fixing the soles of shoes. He also states an opinion to Marullus poor humor and says

Quinceaneras Research Paper
Quinceaneras and the Modern Day Fairytale Marked as a celebration of the transition from
childhood to womanhood, quinceaneras have been a long standing tradition among Latin
American families. Though quinceanera literally means fifteen year old girl, the term has become
more closely associated with the celebration itself, oftentimes by non latinx people. Among Latin
American families and culture, the celebration is often referred to as fiesta de quince aГ±os
(fifteen year party) or simply a quinces. To avoid any confusion, I use quinceanera to refer to the
celebration, rather than the individual, for the remainder of this paper. Historically, fifteen was
seen as the age when Latina girls were ready for marriage, and the quinceanera celebrated that
transition. While modern quinceaneras have drifted away from this initial intent, and now reflect
more of a celebratory coming of age narrative, the marriage and weddingrelated symbolism is still
apparent.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A majority of wedding dresses purchased in the United States are manufactured outside of the
country. The wedding dress industry relies heavily on the labor of foreign women and girls,
often from China, who work for around $12 a day (Ingraham pp. 70). By extent, this knowledge
can be applied to the quinceanera dress industry. There is a significant labor force present in Latin
America as well, which is somewhat ironic considering the quinceanera dress is a product that will
be marketed to Latin American girls in the United States. The socioeconomic difference between
Latina women in the Latin American labor market versus Latinx families in the US is what allows
for the latter to take advantage of the former. The wedding and quinceanera dress industries rely on
the exploitation of disadvantaged women of color in foreign countries in order to serve and

Columbine Theory
On April 20th 1999 the world was forever changed as two seniors from Columbine High School
walked into their school and commenced, what is now known as, The Columbine Massacre .
This act of terrorism was school violence like the world had never seen before. The two students,
who were later identified as Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, shot and killed twelve students, as
well as one teacher. They injured twenty one others and three students were hurt trying to escape
the massacre. Guns were not all that were used to wreck havoc on the high school. Klebold and
Harris had premeditated a very strategic plan using a firebomb, that they placed three miles away
from the school s campus, to divert firefighters. They also used bombs made from propane tanks,
ninety nine explosives, and car bombs. [1]
There intent was to create an attack that was so devastating that the entire world would be afraid
by their power. Thankfully due to their lack of wiring skills, the bombs did not go off. Therefore
the casualty count was far less then they had originally expected with numbers soaring to over 600.
[2] When the attackers realized that their plans were foiled, they ended the massacre by taking their
own lives.
Many psychologists have theorized why this particular event took place, and why school violence is
becoming more prevalent in today s society. Here are three different theories from three different
psychologists, their psychological perspectives on school violence, and how it can

Postal Service Ap Essay
Most, if not all, Americans are familiar with the US Postal Service. After all, it is a service that has
been around since the founding of the United States. It is widely agreed upon that the USPS has
shaped the way that people have communicated over the years. Nevertheless, due to today s ever
changing society, many Americans opt for online methods of communicationrather than
communicating via the postal service. This decline in the popularity of the USPS has led to a
disagreement on what should be done, if anything, to counteract the decline in revenue. While
reforming the USPS to meet the needs of today s world could be a slight challenge, making
adjustments to its structure could breathe new life into the country s beloved postal service.... Show

Something that can be accomplished by any American is to simply send more letters. When
sending a letter from Florida to Alaska costs only 44 cents, there is no reason not to take a little
extra time to put effort into a thought out card that wishes someone well (Source F). There are
also many adjustments that can be made by the USPS itself that will ensure its comeback. For
example, the USPS should increase service if it wants to meet the needs of Americans, which can
be accomplished by expanding from six to seven day delivery rather than dropping to five day
delivery. Allowing mailto be sent and received every day of the week will undoubtedly show
Americans that the USPS is willing to put in effort to accommodate their needs. The USPS
could also use its association with the US Congress to make a play for control of government
broadband, effectively making the USPS a communications delivery service, rather than just a
team of letter carriers. Evolving the USPS to fit today s technology filled world would likely
broaden its horizons beyond simply mailing letters. Another step that could be taken by the
USPS is to rebrand (Source A). Branding is undeniably a key aspect of any business or company
because it is what draws people in and makes a business unforgettable. For example, everyone
has heard of the I m Lovin It slogan/jingle from McDonald s; it s simple, catchy, and memorable.
If the USPS took an advertising approach to its company, then it is highly likely that more people
would use the services it provides. While nothing is guaranteed to improve the current state of the
USPS, Postmaster General John E. Potter is determined to try. He has said, At the end of the day,
I m convinced that if we make the changes that are necessary, we can continue to provide universal
service for Americans for decades to come (Source C). With all of the

First, Create discipline through purpose (Unknown, 2003). Abrashoff did away with the diversity

Basically, he wanted to instill in them that there is no I in team.
Second, Listen and communicate aggressively (Unknown, 2003). Here he interviewed the crew

and asked them what he could do for them to help them achieve their goals. In doing so, he was
able to produce an environment where anyone could critique anyone else on the ship through
proper communication channels.
Finally, Be a champion for your team (Unknown, 2003). If the crew needed something and it was

Onion Juice
Onions are a cost friendly remedy that you can find anywhere. The high sulfur content in onion
juice makes it a potent treatment for hair loss. It circulates blood to your hair follicles and
stimulates them. Its antibacterial properties combat the scalp infections that cause hair loss. A
study published in the Journal of Dermatology showed that onion juice promotes hair growth. 74%
of its participants grew new hairs after dabbing it on their scalps.
A mixture comprising two tablespoons of aloe vera gel and three tablespoons of onion juice
regenerates hair. Alternatively, slice an onion and apply the juice directly on your scalp. Leave it

Your medical marijuana card may be the key to improved health, but it s not a free pass. It comes

Cards Expire
Your medical marijuana card expires and must be renewed. How often you need to renew varies
by state. Californians must renew their card every year while those in New Jersey must renew only
every two years.

It does not permit marijuana use in public places or anywhere that cigarette smoking is prohibited.
You will be fined for smoking or otherwise consuming marijuana in public, even with a medical

Travel Carefully
Medical marijuana use is not legal in every state. Note, too, that states honor only their own
medical marijuana cards and permits. A New Jersey card will not protect you from legal
ramifications in California, even though both states allow medical marijuana usage. Some states do
reciprocate with others. In this instance, you will need to register for and purchase marijuana in the
state you are visiting and use it there. Even with a reciprocating agreement, carrying marijuana
across state lines is a federal crime.
DUI Is Possible
In 2016, an Arizona appeals court ruled in favor of protecting medical marijuana users from DUI
charges. It was determined, however, that cardholders could still be charged with DUI if police
can prove they were too impaired to be driving. Remember that is is still unwise and illegal to
operate a vehicle while under the influence of marijuana, even if you hold a medical marijuana card.
There are still legal kinks and slippery slopes affecting the use of medical marijuana. Keep this in
mind when you get your medical marijuana card and make sure you understand what it permits
and what it doesn t. Your local officials and doctor will both be happy to answer your questions

Slow Loris Research Paper
After researching several species and types of animals, it became apparent that the Slow loris is a
strange and interesting animal. The Slow loris is actually a group of animals that are now being
considered individual species rather than the classification they had previously been a part of.
Several examples of these species include the Bengal slow loris (N. bengalensis), Bornean slow
loris (N. menagensis), and the Pygmy slow loris (N. pygmaeus). These animals have an odd
evolutionary/classicfication history, bodily functions, and involvement with humans. An important
topic to cover would be the taxonomy of the Slow loris, as these animals have proven difficult to
classify in the past. Beginning form the broadest range of classification,... Show more content on

Almost every species has been determined as vulnerable or endangered and the progressing loss
of their habitats and involvement in wildlife trades is only dragging the animal into a worse
state. Their habitats have been decreasing in size due to deforestation, which in turn does not
allow for the proper dispersal of their species, causing the population size to decrease even
further.7 The Slow loris is victim to the wildlife trade, most notably for domestication. Many
people around the world believe the animal to be cute and because it s cute, it can be a pet. This
is not the case. Almost all Slow lorises die due to improper domestication and handling. Since the
bite of the Slow loris can be deadly, owners and traders remove the teeth which can cause
infections and potentially kill the animal.8 Also, many of the Slow lorises that are kept as pets are
subject to malnutrition due to improper care, and can develop many health problems such as
kidney failure, stress, pneumonia, infections, and either become obese or underweight.9 Without a
doubt, it is obvious that the Slow loris is a wild animal and not an ideal animal to claim as a pet. It
is difficult to fully control such treatments and outcomes throughout the world of the Slow loris,
however the future may bring the proper protection and treatments that the Slow loris

Freudian Analysis of Woman on the Edge of Time Essay
Freudian Analysis of Woman on the Edge of Time
One can use the psychoanalytical approach to successfully decipher some of the complexities in
Marge Piercy s novel, A woman on the Edge of Time . The psychoanalytical approach stems from
Freud and his belief that ... Most of our actions are motivated by psychological forces over which
we have very limited control (127 handbook). The two aspects of Freud s approach that relate to
this story are the Oedipus complex and the struggle between the id, ego, and superego.
The Oedipus complex of according to Freud is turned upside down in this novel, because there is
no father, yet there are three mothers. The Oedipus complex believes that as a ... Show more content

The struggle between the id, ego and superego dissolves in this novel due to a different kind of
attitude that the people have. The basic Freudian belief is that the id is ...the source of all
aggressions and desires (130 handbook). The ego is the rational governing agent of the psyche
(139 handbook). It keeps the id in check. The superego is the part of the mind that does what
society dictates. In our day and time, the id wishes for us to do nothing but eat, sleep, and have
sex. The ego realizes that there is no point in humans only trying to repopulate the entire
universe with human being. The superego also feels that having sex all the time with whoever
is near at hand is ludicrous. Society doesn t allow those people to prosper. They go to jail in
some countries for displaying those tendencies. In the novel by Marge Piercy, The social bounds
have stretched significantly allowing the superego to have no qualms with the futuristic
acceptance of everyday sexual activities. The ego has also been satisfied. Children are grown in
vats, so there is no need to worry about one person single handedly repopulating a country the size
of France. Therefore the id is in control. The author is trying to point out that a little open
mindedness and a little technology can alleviate the many gender struggles that occur because of
sex roles.

  • 2. John Locke And Plato s Views On Human Nature Human Nature Human nature or man s behavior in nature is a widely discussed topic in philosophy. Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, and Plato are among some of the many philosophers that have covered this topic in detail. John Locke expressed a generous view of human behavior. He states, All mankind... Being all equal and independent no one ought to harm another in his life, health, liberty, or possessions. 1 . This quote refers to human nature, which is heavily discussed by John Locke. Locke is not the only philosopher who shared his views on man s behavior in a state of nature, but others such as Thomas Hobbes and Plato. In the television series The Walking Dead the views of Locke, Hobbes, and Plato on humans in the state of nature are all shown ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The television series The Walking Dead is a show based in a post apocalyptic world where the undead roam around feeding off the last known survivors. This show is a perfect example of man in a state of nature since there are no more governments or formal civil authorities. In the series people fight to survive against the elements, zombies, and other people. This leads to survivors joining together to form groups making their chances of survival more likely. Rick Grimes is the main character in the series, he is the one who leads his group. Rick and his group face enemies along the way whether it be disease, walkers (zombies), or other groups. The television series The Walking Dead mostly tends to favor Thomas Hobbes views. The show portrays Hobbes three reasons for violence quite often in the show. Particularly when the Governor s group attacks Rick s group. The Governor attacks Rick s group for all of the three reasons that Hobbes claims violence is used for. Invasion, the Governor tries to invade Rick s group primarily because he wants their home. The Governor wants to take the prison that Rick s group resides in using violence. He attacks the prison with weapons and even using a tank, so that he can gain control over Rick s territory, food, and even some of his people. On to the second reason for violence being safety. Using the same example in The Walking Dead the Governor was attacking the prison so that he could have a safe haven for his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Experience Machine By Nozick Have you ever wished you could have anything you wanted in life? I know I have. I ve always wanted a world where everything would be to my liking and nothing would be to my dissatisfaction. Nozick sets up a scenario where we can get a maximum amount of pleasure by plugging into an experience machine that allows us to undergo anything we wanted while we are in a tank with electrodes attached to our heads. • 4. Primary Cause Of The Civil War Essay The Civil War began from the battle at Fort Sumter, where the Confederacy took Fort Sumter from the Union. The root of the Civil War is probably one of the most disputed topics in American history. Some historians argue that slavery was the primary cause of the American Civil War, whereas others argue that slaverymay have been a reason, but not the primary cause of the Civil War. They argued that the main reason of the Civil War was State s rights were being jeopardized, which led to the State s seceding from the Union. Starting off, the Civil War began because the south wanted slavery mainly because they wanted to have workers without having to pay them. Which allowed the South to make more money to either buy more slaves, more land,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Which means, that this war which surrounds the issue of slavery will affect the whole continent of United States. In contrast, the people claim the war was over state rights was because President Lincoln stated he wanted to abolish slavery in all the United States but the Southern states claimed Lincoln didn t have the power to do that. They claimed state s rights gave the power to decide if slavery was legal or not to state governments and not the Federal government. The issue was not slavery, but who decided whether slavery was acceptable, local institutions or a distant central government power. The war was indeed about protecting the institution of slavery, but only as a specific case of a state s right to declare a federal law null and void. Southern states sought to secede because they believed that the federal government had no authority to tell them how to run their affairs. The primary reason for the Civil War was indeed because of slavery. The South wanted to break from the North because the South wanted to allow slavery whereas, the North wanted to end slavery. There was no controversy on whether the war began over the fact that the North wanted to end slavery whereas the South didn t. However, people soon began to declare the Civil War began mainly because of the State s worry of their rights. According to William Walker, views on the Western ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Importance Of Technology And Digital Media It is evident that society has surrounded itself with technology. Technology and digital media are mass media outlets that will ultimately affect our perception and ability to interpret and actively analyze messages. Unfortunately, nefarious characters with shady intentions can take advantage of this and spread false information. Thus, technology and digitalmediadegrade the most common forms of discussion. The rapid expansion of technology and digital medialeads to poor mental health, decreased quality of face to face communication, and the inability to discern false media sources. It is imperative that society acknowledges our decline in face to face communication and respond as a unified unit to strive to step away from technology and to interact with those around us more effectively. Technology has expanded at an unprecedented rate. Per the U.S. Census, 76% of households reported having a computer in 2011, compared with only 8% in 1984 . (Drago, 2015, p.2). Computers and digital media allow us to access information far more readily than ever before. From the introduction of computers, humans have adapted to this new technology, bringing it into our households and including them in daily routines, giving the ability to access digital information without needing to read it from a physical direct source. Long gone are the days where painstaking research meant going to the library and pouring through countless pages of research notes, papers, encyclopedias, and reference material. The need to find something is brought up and the cultivated 21st century instinct reverts individuals to Google or to other digital media outlets for our information. Digital media as well has expanded swiftly. From 2005 to 2009, participation in digital networking sites more than quadrupled (Chou, Hunt, Beckjord, Moser, Hesse, 2009, pg.1). Digital media is expanding at a stunning rate, but not always for the better. From the statistics introduced, we can see the rapid expansion of technology and digital media. Digital media stemming from technology is one of the culprits to human s issues. • 6. Analysis Of Ezekiel s The Book Of Ezekiel The Book of Ezekiel contains three different sections in which all three address a subject matter. There s almost nothing mentioned about Ezekiel in the book, his name is only mentioned twice surprisingly. Ezekiel was one of the more youthful men taken to Babylon in the first captivity, which happened in 597 B.C. In spite of the fact that Ezekiel existed amid a period when the Babylonians consistently crushed Israel his confidence stayed solid with one God, Yahweh. Not at all like Ezekiel, countless Israelitesin the midst of this time had faith in more than just one god. Yahweh did not agree with this in light of the way that the Israelites went into a concurrence with him. This vow suggested that they couldn t continue admiring different icons, for on the off chance that they did Yahweh would radiate his fury upon them. Ezekiel understood this and he knew that this was the reason why they were being punished. Yahweh utilizes Ezekiel to transfer this message to his kin and reveal to them the discipline that they will need to uncover due to their wrongdoings. The book opens with a record of the vision that summoned Ezekiel to his prophetic calling. In his vision he saw a human like creature with four faces and four wings, and above these creatures was a dome that looked like a throne. On that throne was a human like figure that resembles the power of God. Ezekiel portrays his vision as a complex picture that symbolizes the magnificence of Yahweh and broadcasts Yahweh s ... As the book states, Proactive people are aware that they can t control everything that happens to them, but they can control what they do about it. The opposite of being proactive is being reactive, which is what the book is trying to steer you away from. Reactive people act on feelings and don t take the time to assess the situation. It is the well known fact that the ethics don t implement on the logics in doing right or wrong. Along with sometimes it can stand against the morality. For example the death sentence is ethically wrong, because it takes the life of a man, which can become the better part of society in future. So, ethically the death sentence should be stopped. But, the morally death sentence creates fear among the people and they get the lesson for the future that who will be done wrong with others will face the death at the end. Along with this, ethics has some theoretical problems. These problems are related to different aspects of ethics which are not justified on the basis of philosophy. Most of the times these problems create confusion in the minds of human beings to identify what is right and what is wrong in certain situations. Sherlock is this detective genius that does not feel things or really understand the people around him so he has Watson to fall back on. In a way they teach each other. Soon after the turn of the 20th century, a surge in women s independence surfaced. This was largely due to the fact that women were urged by Rosie the Riveter and other propaganda to replace men in factory jobs to support the war effort and provide income for their families. Women s lifestyles changed from then on, including their hairstyles, clothing, and overall personalities. The culture surrounding women in the early 1900 s, especially in terms of the way that they dressed, was drastically different than that surrounding women in today s society. They were very much alike, they both consisted of a corsetto make the waist skinnier and the bosom and backside larger, but it remained modest to the standards of that period. Both of these styles were very high class and were custom for the wealthier people of the day, this is due to the dresses being made out of luxury fabrics and rhinestones. A trade, sir, that I hope I may use with a safe conscience, which is, indeed, sir, a mender of bad soles (1.1.13 15). 1.Shakespeare creates a pun between a cobbler and soles. A cobbler fixes shoes, and on a shoe, there is a sole. Cobbler uses the pun that he is a mender of damaged soles, which factually means that he repairs the soles of shoes, but also means that he mends souls. The cobbler indicates that his job involves fixing the soles of shoes. He also states an opinion to Marullus poor humor and says that he might need to med the Tribune s bad soul. 2. • 25. Quinceaneras Research Paper Quinceaneras and the Modern Day Fairytale Marked as a celebration of the transition from childhood to womanhood, quinceaneras have been a long standing tradition among Latin American families. Though quinceanera literally means fifteen year old girl, the term has become more closely associated with the celebration itself, oftentimes by non latinx people. Among Latin American families and culture, the celebration is often referred to as fiesta de quince aГ±os (fifteen year party) or simply a quinces. To avoid any confusion, I use quinceanera to refer to the celebration, rather than the individual, for the remainder of this paper. Historically, fifteen was seen as the age when Latina girls were ready for marriage, and the quinceanera celebrated that transition. While modern quinceaneras have drifted away from this initial intent, and now reflect more of a celebratory coming of age narrative, the marriage and weddingrelated symbolism is still apparent.... The wedding dress industry relies heavily on the labor of foreign women and girls, often from China, who work for around $12 a day (Ingraham pp. 70). By extent, this knowledge can be applied to the quinceanera dress industry. There is a significant labor force present in Latin America as well, which is somewhat ironic considering the quinceanera dress is a product that will be marketed to Latin American girls in the United States. The socioeconomic difference between Latina women in the Latin American labor market versus Latinx families in the US is what allows for the latter to take advantage of the former. Columbine Theory On April 20th 1999 the world was forever changed as two seniors from Columbine High School walked into their school and commenced, what is now known as, The Columbine Massacre . This act of terrorism was school violence like the world had never seen before. The two students, who were later identified as Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, shot and killed twelve students, as well as one teacher. They injured twenty one others and three students were hurt trying to escape the massacre. Guns were not all that were used to wreck havoc on the high school. Klebold and Harris had premeditated a very strategic plan using a firebomb, that they placed three miles away from the school s campus, to divert firefighters. They also used bombs made from propane tanks, ninety nine explosives, and car bombs. [1] There intent was to create an attack that was so devastating that the entire world would be afraid by their power. Thankfully due to their lack of wiring skills, the bombs did not go off. Therefore the casualty count was far less then they had originally expected with numbers soaring to over 600. [2] When the attackers realized that their plans were foiled, they ended the massacre by taking their own lives. Many psychologists have theorized why this particular event took place, and why school violence is becoming more prevalent in today s society. It is widely agreed upon that the USPS has shaped the way that people have communicated over the years. Nevertheless, due to today s ever changing society, many Americans opt for online methods of communicationrather than communicating via the postal service. This decline in the popularity of the USPS has led to a disagreement on what should be done, if anything, to counteract the decline in revenue. While reforming the USPS to meet the needs of today s world could be a slight challenge, making adjustments to its structure could breathe new life into the country s beloved postal service.... When sending a letter from Florida to Alaska costs only 44 cents, there is no reason not to take a little extra time to put effort into a thought out card that wishes someone well (Source F). There are also many adjustments that can be made by the USPS itself that will ensure its comeback. For example, the USPS should increase service if it wants to meet the needs of Americans, which can be accomplished by expanding from six to seven day delivery rather than dropping to five day delivery. Allowing mailto be sent and received every day of the week will undoubtedly show Americans that the USPS is willing to put in effort to accommodate their needs. The USPS could also use its association with the US Congress to make a play for control of government broadband, effectively making the USPS a communications delivery service, rather than just a team of letter carriers. Evolving the USPS to fit today s technology filled world would likely broaden its horizons beyond simply mailing letters. Another step that could be taken by the USPS is to rebrand (Source A). For example, everyone has heard of the I m Lovin It slogan/jingle from McDonald s; it s simple, catchy, and memorable.
