Scientific Essay Definition
Writing an essay on the topic "Scientific Essay Definition" can be quite challenging due to the
need for precision, clarity, and thoroughness in defining what constitutes a scientific essay. This
task requires a deep understanding of both the scientific method and the principles of essay
writing.
Firstly, one must delve into the nuances of the scientific method, including hypothesis
formulation, experimentation, data analysis, and conclusion drawing. Understanding how these
elements interact and contribute to the validity and reliability of scientific findings is essential.
Secondly, defining the characteristics of an essay within a scientific context adds another layer
of complexity. Essays typically involve coherent arguments supported by evidence and
structured in a logical manner. However, in a scientific essay, the evidence must be based on
empirical data and adhere to rigorous research standards.
Additionally, addressing the various types of scientific essays, such as research papers, review
articles, and experimental reports, requires a comprehensive understanding of their unique
purposes, structures, and conventions.
Moreover, discussing the role of scientific essays in academic and professional settings
necessitates exploring their significance in knowledge dissemination, critical thinking
development, and scientific communication.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic "Scientific Essay Definition" demands a nuanced

Al Capone DBQ
Al Capone was from Chicago and the greatest gangster in the Roaring Twenties.
Prohibition happened from 1919 to 1933 and was famously known as the Roaring
Twenties . The Eighteenth Amendment was passed and banned the manufacture
and sales of all alcoholic beverages. The Volstead act made the law official and
stated that owning any item used to produce alcohol was illegal. According to the
background essay, meant any beverage more than 0.5% alcohol by volume. This
meant that no alcohol with more than the legal amount was allowed. Anyone who
did this would go to jail or be fined. People wanted alcohol, so bad that all these bars
started to open. Illegal bars, called speakeasies, opened up across the country as
stated in the background... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was a good time for bootleggers, rumrunners, gangsters, etc. because their life was
good and they had everything they wanted. Gangs would cause trouble and the
evils of society would come out. Doc B states, But for the owners of blind pigs, the
bootleggers, the rumrunners and gangsters, the roadhouse proprietors, the police, the
magistrates, the spotters, the boaters and armies of others, it was a roaring success.
It gave jobs to the people who supported prohibition because they would sell the
alcohol. People were becoming rich, owning nice suits, and fancy cars. But for the
temperance societies, churches and fanatic evangelists who authored the legislation
prohibition was a fail. ...putting liquor out of the reach of the general population,
they had in effect created a monster. (Doc B). Prohibition did not stop people from
getting liquor like these religious groups thought it would. Even though life was good
for the people who did not support prohibition they caused too much trouble and the
people who supported prohibition were not happy with the outcome of this new law.
In conclusion, prohibition is disturbing society and causing trouble because people

Visual Modality Analysis
Based on my results, I realized my strong area was in visual modality, which was a
score of 30. I think this was my strongest areas because I prefer to see information.
My second highest was in auditory modality which was a 28. I also prefer to hear
information, this helps me take in and retain the information being taught. I scored a
20 in tactile modality. This was my lowest area because learningby touching and
doing hasn t really helped me. Based on these patterns, I learn by seeing and
hearing. In order to learn effectively, I have to see what I am being taught and also

change in macbeth character
Macbeth s character shows us the tragedy of over ambitious people; it also shows us
that negative aspects can overwhelm the good side of our personality.
Throughout this piece of writing I will be showing the changes within Macbeths
character, which is the only character within the play that has visible changes in his
character. I will be describing these points by inspecting the asides and soliloquies,
which are both dramatic ironies that place the audience in a privileged position as
they are introduced to the characters thought pattern that gives them an insight to
how he may be feeling. All of which is unbeknown to other characters in the scene.
In Act I, Sc iii, when Macbeth is told that he is the Thane of Cawdor, he is ... Show

and this explains how double faced and furtive devious he becomes.
Act IV, Sc I shows how Macbeth believes only in the witches, he trusts them and
makes all his plans and arrangement according to their prophecies. This doesn t only
show us a mental change but also how Macbeth lost his morality, honesty, and
nobility and became more frenzied, no more mercy to be thought of or shown and
decides, The firstlings of my heart shall be
The firstling of my hand.
Comparing this to the first soliloquy in my piece of writing we perceive a
tremendous development of his personality and attitude. He is not hesitant about
killing any more and will do any thing to keep his throne and power.
Following his meeting with the witches they tell him to be ware Macduff and
macbeth acts upon this warning by sending murderers to kill His wife, his babes, and
all unfortunate souls this act shows in depth how immoral he becomes.
It didn t stop with killing the king, his friend, Lady Macduff and her children;
Macbeth has lost even the sense of what does love and family mean and becomes
more selfish. In Act V, Sc v, the servant informs Macbeth of the distressing sorrowful
news about the death of Lady Macbeth But he replies with cold nerves: She should
have died hereafter;
There would have been a time for such a word
His wife is not one of his main concerns; he does not even respect the sanctity
Diabetes Mellitus Essay examples
Diabetes mellitus (DM) or simply diabetes, is a chronic health condition in which
the body either fails to produce the amount of insulin needed or it responds
inadequately to the insulin secreted by the pancreas. The three primary types of
diabetes are: Diabetes Type 1 and 2, and during some pregnancies, Gestational
diabetes. The clichГ© for all three types of diabetes is high glucose blood levels or
hyperglycemia. The pathophysiology of all types of diabetes mellitusis related to the
hormone insulin, which is secreted by the beta cells of the pancreas. This hormone is
responsible for maintaining an optimal glucose level in the blood. It allows the body
cells to use glucose as a main energy source. Due to abnormal insulin metabolism, in

With gestational diabetes it is glucose intolerance during pregnancy in a woman not
previously diagnosed with diabetes. It may occur if placental hormones counteract
insulin, causing insulin resistance.
The exact cause of type 1 diabetes mellitus, previously known as insulin dependent
diabetes mellitus, is unknown. What we know today is that in most people with
type 1, their body s own immune system which normally fights against infections
mistakenly destroys the beta cells of the pancreas making insulin secretion
impossible. Genetics also plays a role in this process, and exposure to certain
viruses could trigger the disease. Whatever the cause, once 90% or more of the beta
cells are destroyed, the pancreas will produce little or no insulin. In type 1 diabetes
due to the lack of insulin, the glucose is not able to enter the cells to be used for
energy and instead it builds up into the bloodstream, where it can cause life
threatening complications.
The cause of type 1 diabetes is different from the cause of the more common type 2
diabetes in which the beta cells of the pancreas are still functioning, but the body
becomes resistant to insulin or the pancreas is not able to produce enough insulin or
both.
The early symptoms of untreated diabetes are related to elevated blood sugar levels
and loss of glucose in urine. High amount of glucose in urine can lead to increased
urine output and dehydration. Insulin deficiency can lead to weight loss despite the
polyphagia.
The Basics of Toilet Training Essay
The process of toilet training may be considered the most challenging process that
parents encounter with their child during the early stages of his or life. Toilet training
can be described as an individualized developmental process that all children will
progress at their own developmental pace and temperament, not the child s
chronological age. Toilettraining should be a natural result of the child s
developmental readiness. Therefore the primary goal can only be achieved when the
child is ready and willing. Just like any learning process for a child, including toilet
training, it effects the development of the whole child and it is important that the
child has the necessary physical, social, emotional, and cognitive skills to begin....

During the toilet training process, a child must obtain body awareness and be able to
associate bodily sensation to the result that follows, poop or pee. Then after he
masters that skill he must acquire the certain skills that will allow him to picture what
he wants to do (use the toilet), create a plan to get here, begin using it, and remain in
place long enough to finish, which requires both memory and concentration
(Wolraich 26). The next and probably most difficult readiness sign a parent must
recognize before starting the toilet training process is emotional growth.
There are many emotional issues that can greatly affect toilet training that include
a eagerness for independence, a child s need for control, testing of rules and limits,
desire to win parents approval, and fears of toilet use. If a child resists the idea of
using the toilet when mentioned he may be experiencing an emotional issue and the
parent should wait for a better time to follow through with the process. If the child
is continually repeating signs of resistance a parent may want to rethink if it is too
soon to begin the process and understand that the child may be going through a
major change in the his life that is creating stress. Parents should know that it is not
the best time to toilet train when a new baby is expected soon or has recently
arrived, the family has newly moved, the child has just

California.

The homes and building of a town, the only high school, churches, a funeral home,
tiny downtown, a minuscule police station, fire station, library, downtown, the pet

ON A HOUSE THAT RESEMBLES A CASTLE
On the edge of town, in a withdrawn area, high on a hill sits what appears to be a
Victorian house that reveals a castle. Built in the 1920s, the house has two turrets,
unsightly undersize windows, three spiked roofs, and a splayed base on each side.
An inharmonious spiked iron gate engulfs the six bedroom dwelling.
A NO TRESPASSING sign suspends on the front entrance. The warm California
summers, howling winters and rain storms have taken a toll on the structure near the
century mark. The paint peeling, many of the roof s shackles are gone astray, the
gutter s useless, debris dripping from the corners of the rooftop.
The once manicured lawn now a home for two feet high weeds, lifeless trees and

crazy Eddie fraud case
Crazy Eddie, Inc. financial fraud case
Crazy Eddie was an American retail store chain run by the Antar family, which was
established as a private company in 1969 in Brooklyn, New York by businessmen
Eddie and Sam M. Antar. The fraud at Crazy Eddie was one of the longest running in
modern times, lasting from 1969 to 1987. Crazy Eddie became a known symbol for
corporate fraud in its time, but has since been eclipsed by the Enron, Worldcom and
Bernie Madoff accounting scandals.
Commencement of fraud
The fraud began almost immediately, with the management of Crazy Eddie
underreporting taxable income through skimming cash sales, paying employees in
cash to avoid payroll taxes and reporting fake insurance claims to the company s
carriers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

crimes, but fled to Israel before his trial. He spent three years in hiding until he
was eventually tracked down by authorities in 1992 and extradited back to the U.S.
to face criminal charges. Antar and two other family members were also convicted
for their role in the fraud. In 1997, Antar was sentenced to eight years in prison and
paid large fines. He was later released in 1999.

The tight knit Antar family ruling Crazy Eddie had virtual absolute control over all
aspects of the business.
Very poor audittrails and documentation.
Major self dealing transactions and related party transactions by family members.
Substantial increases in wages from below market wages before the company went

Women s Rights
While there have been many breakthroughs, in today s society, women are still
struggling to get the treatment they deserve and the equality they want in the
workplace. Over the years, many women have fought for their rights and we can see
how much their effort has paid off with the rights we have now. Three Acts that have
revolutionized women s workplace rights are the Family and Medical Leave Act, the
Equal Pay Act, and the Pregnancy DiscriminationAct.
Surprisingly, not many women, or people in general, know what the Family and
Medical Leave Act really is. They do not know if their employer is authorized to
grant this type of leave, and they do not know if they are eligible to use the leave
granted by the Act. So what is the Family and Medical ... Show more content on

states that women who are being interviewed for a certain job are not obligated,
under any circumstance, to make it known to their potential employer that they are,

The Pros And Cons Of The Cuban Embargo
The new era began, Barack Obama and RaГєl Castro announced that the United
States of America and Cuba will restore full diplomatic relations for the first time in
more than 50 years since severing ties in 1961. Barston 2006, defines diplomatic
relations as the art and practice of conducting negotiations between representatives of
states. It usually refers to international diplomacy, the conduct of international
relations through the intercession of professional diplomats with regard to issues of
peace making, trade, economics and culture (p. 1). One of the major areas it will
address is the lifting of the Cuban embargo. The embargo restricts trade, travel and

According to Scola (2014) It is estimated that only 5 percent of the Cuban population
has access to the open Internet . All Internet connections in Cuba are available
exclusively through Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Cuba S.A. (ETECSA).
Because wireless Internet service is not available to the general population, landline
Internet is the sole means of connecting people in Cuba to the Internet. The
combination of inadequate infrastructure and the government s deliberate policy
which controls access to the internet have produced an extremely slow service that is
not widely available throughout the population. With better diplomatic relations with
the United States the Cuban government can benefit greatly from
telecommunications mostly internet advancements which can positively affect the
economy in many ways. First, it can reduce the cost of production. Second, it can
increase revenues. Third, it can increase employment through both direct and indirect
effects and lastly it provides channels of communication to avert humanitarian
disasters and assist in reconstruction efforts. The United States help the Cuban
economy to develop the telecommunications by providing the country with many of
the technological infrastructures needed to become
Andrew Carnegie Was Not A Hero
Imagine having all the money you want and still having a ton left over. Andrew
Carnegie was a poor boy who ended up becoming the richest man in america during
1901. He worked himself up in the Pennsylvania Railroad company and would have
been successful there but he was unclear on what he wanted to do. So he decided to
move to New York City where he met Henry Bessemer. Bessemer taught him how to
make steel, so then Carnegie moved back to Pittsburg and set up a steel mill. There
he became a steel king and it caused him to become extremely wealthy. A hero is
someone who has courage, integrity, and a concern for others. There were three
reasons Andrew Carnegiewas not a hero and they are he was a hypocrite, did not
care about others, and caused others to lose self respect.
One reason Carnegie was not a hero was the things he said did not match his actions.

people. Andrew Carnegie did not care about the people working for him at all or
else he would have recognized that they are poor and need all the money he can
give them, instead of taking their money and using it on libraries. Also in
document D it talks about how people working in his steel mill were killed, and
was directly related to the violence within the steel mill. If Carnegie truly cared
about these people he would try to calm the violence in his mill, and he could stop
being violent towards them setting a better example. From not giving his workers
their well earned money and setting an example of violence Andrew Carnegie shows
that he does not care about others. This shows that he was not a hero because not
caring about these people that worked for him showed through the death of innocent
Natural Light In Gothic Architecture
Since ancient times and throughout the history of architecture, to present days,
natural light played a key role in building design. In a physical sense, its interaction
with the surrounding environment affects and transforms the perception of space. It
can also instigate and incite different emotional reactions in humans. Lightis also used
and has been used in sacred architectureas a symbolic value. Its manipulation can
evoke feelings of spirituality. This essential natural resource in some cultures and
religions represents the manifestation of the divine. In this essay, I will use three
influential architectural style periods to compare the use of natural light in both a
physical and symbolic sense: the ancient Egypt period, the Gothic period in France,
and the 20th Century architecture.
Ancient cultures, such as the Egyptians, designed temples taking into consideration
the effects of natural light. They intentionally directed the behavior of light to
illuminate and emphasize space, as well as to focus attention on rituals and elements
such as sacred ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These handcrafted windows played an important role as they served as a sort of

would have a dramatic effect on the faithful, vast window space became a necessary
characteristic of the Gothic style and responded to one of the goals of a growing
and dominant religion in the medieval era (Schlager, Lauer, Gale group,

Using Online Crowdfunding Platforms And Social Media
Introduction:
Methods for sourcing donations have evolved dramatically in recent years through
the use of online crowdfunding platforms and social media. Crowdfunding is
defined by Oxford dictionary as the practice of funding a project or venture by
raising small amounts of money from a large number of people, typically via the
Internet. Examples of popular crowdfunding methods are Facebook s Donate Now
button along with standalone donation platforms such as Gofundme, Kickstarter,
Crowdrise, Spot.us, Gojournalim.ca, Kiva.org, and Indiegogo.
Crowdfunding is encourages a direct connection between donors and causes,
investors and startups and peers in individual funding opportunities. I hypothesize

Statistically the cause campaign will be more successful if a personal network is
involved. (Mollick, 2013). Fundraisers can determine if, given these factors, they are
more likely to find success seeking funding from more traditional sources like banks,
venture capitalists, and foundations or by attempting to conceive and execute a viral
crowdfunding campaign.
Literature Review
This literature review investigates the current crowdfunding landscape based on the
following three components. First, who is participating and who is benefiting from a
business investing, charitable giving and peer to peer lending standpoint. Second,
what factors and economic theories contribute to the ultimate success or failure of an
investment project on a crowdfunding platform. And lastly, what are the positive
reward systems and negative implications for both the cause and the contributor?
The objective of this literature review is to recognize how these components affect a
new generation of funding. I will highlight reasons why these sources are rapidly
growing and postulate if they are replacing the older, highly constrained traditional
funding models.
Who Crowdfunds and Who Benefits?
Crowdfunding can be used for anything from start up businesses, research funding,
citizen journalism, independent creative projects, and non profit fundraising, to
individual medical expenses, student loans debt and even financing personal luxuries.
In this review I use the term cause to refer to

Equal Pay Act Definition
The Equal Pay Act and its subsequent amendments provide for members of one sex
to claim equal pay with a member of the opposite sex who is doing like work, or
work of a different nature which can be shown to be similar in terms of the
requirements for skill and effort , that is work of equal value. The Equal Pay Act is
dealt with in more detail in Chapter 11, which examines payment systems and the
evaluation systems and the evaluation jobs. The major points to be made here is
that it would be unlawful to advertise different pay rates for men and women doing
the same work, or to offer employees of one sex disadvantageous terms and

Effects Of The Atlantic Slave Trade
The effects of the development of the Atlantic Slave Trade had impacted the
participating civilizations in 1450 1750. Many slaves were treated brutally. Some
countries prospered as others died, and a new source of cheap labor has been found.
The demand for cheap labor in 1450 to 1750 has caused economic, social, and

Safety And Health Manager ( Shm )
1.INTRODUCTION
Demolition process involves the dismantling of a building structure, part of the
structure, destruction or refurbishment. Demolition work is a high risk construction
work and is characterized by a broad range of highly hazardous environment (Awodele
et al., 2014). The hazards associated with demolition work in construction include
glass fragmentation, unprotected openings, obstructed site access and discontinuation
of services such as electricity.
These are just a few examples of hazards relevant to the demolition project. As the
safety and health manager (SHM) of Democon Ltd, it s my obligation to ensure that
the demolition of Chandler building is done within the confines of safety measures
and regulations. Looking at the timing of demolition (during term time), there are a
lot of health and safety risks factors.
The time frame and the environment within which the work is to be done in this
project expose the workers and the general public to myriads of safety risks. These
safety factors have an impact on the decision making strategies in the project. In
undertaking risk and safety management, the international standards especially the
Commonwealth laws and the Occupational Health and Safety Act in 1991 must be
considered.

Metal Bats In Baseball
The pitchers throws the ball, and the batter hits it. The following seconds are a blur,
next thing everyone knows is that the pitcher is on the ground clutching his head.
This terrifying fact actually was happening in youth, high school, and college
baseball. This was the effect of bats under the BESR certification. This certification
allowed the bats to have a trampoline effect which allowed the bat to bend more and
rocket the ball off. Most of the baseballfatalities occur due to pitchers getting hit
with a line drive back at him. However, changes have been made that have made
the game safer for pitchers and made it less of an offensive and made it a defensive
game. Metal bats are still a problem, this will prove the problems and the danger they
cause to defensive players, the changes that have been made and how they affect the
game, and why metal bats should just be outlawed all together.
The number one problem with the bats is the trampoline effect this effect occurs
when the ball uses the bat as a trampoline and springs off of it. From the college
level on down, the bat has evolved from wood to a clunky metal tube to a marvel of
lightweight hitting power that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The game WAS broken because it was not normal baseball being played. When
terrible hitters can hit .300, guess what, it was broken. When you have to use a ball
that was supposed to allow for pitchers to have some chance against those juiced
bats, it means it was broken. Those that can t coach or teach hitting but can only
recruit, well, those programs will struggle going forward. To those that are saying
the game will unfairly swing toward the pitchers and create an unequal playing field
... oh my goodness... it has been swung toward hitters for over 20 years in college
baseball. Just think about that... for half a second.
Essay on Botswana
Botswana
(1)The people of Botswana are presently torn between the survival of its ancestors
cultural traditions and the growth of an optimistic republic. Within this study, the
characteristics of Batswana s lifestyles from the past, their present conditions, and
outlooks upon the country s future will be discussed. Botswana was born a country of
flourishing diversity. It was a land inhabited by nomadic Bushmen (also known as
San or Basarwa) and countless numbers of different tribes, who coexisted peaceably
with one another. These people of ancient times lived contentedly through the land s
provisions of plants and abundant species of animals and through prosperous trade
with each other.
Today, this simple way of life... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In accordance with environment and society, how human actions modify the physical
environment will be viewed through the effects of the different lifestyles, in the past
and present, of Batswana upon Botswana s land, wildlife, and resources. How
physical systems affect human systems will be explained in many aspects through
the estate of Botswana s ecosystems immensely, or variably, impacting the lives of
Batswana and vice versa. Finally, the changes that occur in the meaning, use,
distribution, and importance of resources will be perceived through people s various
actions partaking of the country s provisions and the different values that a person
holds depending upon their background in relation to Botswana.
(3) Botswana is a landlocked country, which is bordered immediately south by
South Africa, north and west by Namibia, north and east by Zimbabwe, and is
connected by a narrow strip of land on its northern border to Zambia. On Botswana
s northwestern border, Namibia s Caprivi Strip separates Botswana from Angola
(Angola is Zambia s western border) (5). The majority of Botswana s population,
about 80% or four fifths, is concentrated in a fifth of the country s territory, which is
a narrow, arable strip beside the easternmost Limpopo River (7, p.75). Only about 1%

Essay about Ageism Against Teens
Advocacy is the act of speaking in support of human concerns or needs. Where
people have their own voice, advocacy means making sure they are heard; where
they have difficulty speaking up, it means providing help; where they have no voice,
it means speaking for them.

INTRODUCTION
The aim of this research was to look at the discrimination towards teenagers from
certain family backgrounds, like stepfamilies, ethnic families and single parent
families in council housing estates. The aim is to look at the age range of 13 18
years, as these youngsters have a tendency to be criticised more by society. With no
thought that they are individuals with different morals and personalities.
There is a high level of petty crime, recreational drugs, truancy and teenage
pregnancy in this range of younger people. There is also a higher level of social
exclusions for this age group. There is always a tendency to lay blame on their
circumstances and backgrounds. It is not necessarily true that if you come from a
less adequate background, that you are more likely to be an underachiever. If you
give someone self esteem then they can always do better. People assume that they
can pass judgement on someone else s life, which is labelling them as inadequate.
Like traditional stereotypes, the teenager has been given a distorted image by the
modern media (Int, 2003). Both young people and older adults deserve more choices
in where and how they spend their time. Others should not dictate them, how and
where. The need is more acceptable for this to happen for older

Analysis Of Out, Out By Robert Frost
In Robert Frost s poem Out, Out an overwhelming theme of agony can be sensed as
Frost incorporates his personal experiences with loss and his views on society into
the narrative of this literary work. Frost uses the depiction of innocence through a
young boy who suffers a fatal accident to metaphorically embed his personal struggles
with the death of his two children into the poem. The section of the poem that will be
analyzed is the final ten lines (25 34). The significance of this section in the poem is
the underlying relationship between what the narrater is saying, and Frosts personal
pain that he is suffering from that he ingrains into this poem. The importance of
thoroughly analyzing and interpreting the authors word choice and ... Show more

The lack of imagery and change in punctuation provide a shift to a feeling of
numbness that can be understood once comparing this to the authors descriptive
nature used in the first section of the work.
Death plays a significant, and rather obvious role in narrative this poem. The main
focuses of second half of the poem is concentrated on accident that takes place in
which a boy loses his hand, and eventually his life. A few lines in the section that I
felt were specifically important to interpret was when the narrater says, He saw all
spoiled. Don t let him cut my hand off, The doctor, when he comes. Don t let him,
sister! So. But the hand was already gone (23 25). In these lines, a sense of
helplessness can be felt due the doctor arriving once it is too late. I believe that the
doctors late arrival can be related to the death of Frosts first born son,
Elliot who passes away due to Cholera. A relationship can be drawn between the
inability of
Frost to save his son from his disease, to the inevitable death of the young boy in the
poem.
The last two lines of the poem possess an extremely powerful sense of defeat and
sorrow.
In these last two lines, Frost writes, No more to build on there. And they, since they
Were not the one dead, turned to their affairs. A sense of defeat was also perceived
as Frost simply uses the wording, No more to build on there to describe the death of
an innocent young child s life.

Comparing Two Dystopian Novels
Dystopia seems like a brilliant idea where everything is fine and there is no
suffering. Dystopia is sometimes mistaken as utopia and vice versa, but they are in
reality basically opposites. Utopias are considered as a perfectly safe place or as
many would think is a paradise that can only be imagined, even the government, laws,
social and economic conditions are perfect without any problems. While dystopiacan
be considered to be the exact opposite of utopia , it s a community or society that is
undesirable or frightening in which everything in it is unpleasant or bad with a huge
amount of crime rate, divided racially largely, and a homeland of economic problems.
Two dystopian novels on this topic show how even the best and positive

Evil, The, And The Threat Of Evil
A reason that ascriptions of perverse can be particularly injurious or dangerous is
that it isn t always visible what companions mean when they use the term evil. As
Eve Garrard clown it the general privacy encompassment the term constrain some
thinkers very backward to appeal to the consideration of evil(Garrard 2002, 322). For
instance, some people believe that to say that someone complete an bad deed
involved that that person execute out of malice (see e.g., Kekes 2005), while others
believe that evildoing can event from many different sorts of spur, even admirable
motivation (see e.g., Card 2002). Given this ambiguity, it might be unclear whether an
assignment of wicked attributes despicable psychological attributes to an... Show

In contrast to the vast concept of evil, the narrow concept of evil picks out only the
most morally despicable sorts of actions, characters, events, etc. As Marcus Singer
puts it evil ... is the defeat possible term of opprobrium believable (Singer 2004,
185). Since the near{5} concept of evil entangle moral condemnation, it is suitably
ascribed only to moral agents and their actions. For instance, if only human beings are
virtuous agents, then only human beings can perform evil actions. Evil in this
narrower sense is more often meant when the term perverse is used in
contemporaneous moral, political, and constitutional contexts. This entrance will
focus on wicked in this narrower sensation. The entry will not discuss wicked in the
ample sense or the problem of mischieveous to any significant degree
In the second half of the twentieth hundred, atheologians (that is, persons who aim to
prove the no entity of God) commonly claimed that the problem of evil was a
proposition of logical inconsistency. J. L. Mackie (1955, p. 200), for example, assert,
To finish whether evil is qualitatively distinct from unqualified wrongdoing we must
first understand what it is for two concepts to be qualitatively obvious. According to
some theorists two concepts are qualitatively unconnected if, and only if, all
instantiations of the first concept share a
Cause And Effect Of Climate Change
Causes and Effects of Climate Change Climate change is one of the most underrated
and controversial, yet serious environmental issues in today s time. Despite what
some may believe, there has been a vast amount of scientific evidence to support that
climate change is occurring and human activity is the main source of it. Many factors
(both anthropogenic and natural) contribute to climate change. However, the main
cause is anthropogenic; greenhouse gasemissions. Three common practices that
release greenhouse gases include the combustion of fossil fuels used in cars, methane
released from landfills, and deforestation.
Out of the abundance of greenhouse gases that can contribute to climate change, the
highest amount comes from carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide emissions result from
the burning of fossil fuels often used in cars. This contributes to the greenhouse
effect which leads to the warming of the Earth. The Earth Science Communications
Team states, A stronger greenhouse effect will warm the oceans and partially melt
glaciers and other ice, increasing sea level. As the ocean s temperatures start to
increase, populations of organisms that inhabit them will begin to decrease.
Increased sea levels can lead to serious problems as well, such as destroyed homes
and businesses, ruined crops and vegetation, contaminated water, and the deaths of
people and animals. However, there are certain cases where carbon dioxide
emissions can be beneficial. They can cause plants to grow
Corruption In Julius Caesar
When I hear the word honor, the first thing that comes to mind is to make proud. It
brings me joy to know that I have been given approval and appreciation from others.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, where there is honor, there is corruption. Much
like it sounds, corruption is the opposite of pride, approval, and appreciation. I
associate corruption with shame and indignity. In the play The Tragedy of Julius
Caesar, characters of both sides are presented. I believe that Mark Antonyis the most
honorable individual in the play, and Cassius is by far the most corrupt. Mark
Antony proves that he is honorable in the way that he is a dedicated servant to
Caesar. From the very beginning, before Caesar s rise to power, Antony was there.
As doubts and suspicions arose regarding Caesar s ability to rule, he stuck by his
side, defending his name well beyond his death. Loyalty is a good quality to look
for when searching for a friend and an even better quality when looking for
someone to help govern a nation. Another way that Antony proves he is honorable
is when he is still able to see the good in Brutus after all he has done. If that were
me and I had been stabbed in the back (figuratively speaking) by someone I
considered to be a friend, I would not be able to forgive so easily. Even so, Antony
still chooses to see him as a very noble individual. Lastly, Antony shows his honor by
avenging the death of Caesar even to the point of war. Imagine having someone on
Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Judicial Branch
What is the Judiciary branch? The Judiciary branch is the third branch which is made
up of courts such as the supreme, circuit, the magistrate and municipal. This branch
interprets the laws and the state judges are elected by the citizens rather than being
appointed. Alexander Hamilton wrote essays to explain and defend the newly drafted
constitution, in 1788, prior to its approval. In Federalist No. 78, Hamilton argues that
the judiciarywould be the least threatening branch of government because it does not
control the military or budget of the nation. In other words, it has no power to act on
its own or to enforce what it does. The courts make the ruling only within proper
lawsuits such as cases and controversies in the United StatesConstitution. Even if a
law is passed by congress that is unconstitutional, the court... Show more content on

Another statement that Hamilton mentioned was that by the judicial branch being
independent it may fulfill its main purpose which is to protect the rights and
privileges of the people, as set forth by the constitution. In order to protect those
rights, the judiciary should be given that power of judicial review to declare and void
laws that are considered unconstitutional. Hamilton made a stamen that by giving
judges tenure is an integral part of the judiciary system. Therefore, it would help to
address some immediate concerns of appointing the unjust judge and a good behavior
itself will place the power to the citizens. With that being said, once again he
proves that the judicial branch is at mercy to the people. The only thing I disagree
is that by giving tenure to judges it mixes political views with personal values
creating a law in favor of the president, who is controlled and elected by the ruling
class. Today courts have ruled in favor of politicians who have taken liberties from
citizens one at a
Fashion In Japanese Fashion
Whenever someone mentions Japan, what would a normal person think of? They
could possibly think of their cuisine, anime, or their bustling capital of Tokyo. Yet,
when fashion is added to the question, what are the first thoughts? Surely, their
traditional clothing of kimonos and yukatas may be the first thought for some, but
some might think of the popularized street fashionthat they see in the media: the
gyaru, lolitas, and genderless kei. Yet, their daily clothinghas been adapted to women
wearing skirts and men wearing suits. Without a doubt, they are looking like the rest
of the world of which the West has influenced; they are no longer one of a kind in
terms of modern fashion. In order for them to retrieve their uniqueness in the fashion
world, the Japanese branded themselves with their many different styles of fashion,
but could not have done so without the strong influence of the media. One of the
most recent bang of exploding popularity Japanese fashionstyles is the genderless
fashion. Genderless fashion can be seen in many different styles, including the
street and in high fashion. Particularly, it is most popular in the streets of large
Japanese cities. In areas such as Harajuku, it is not uncommon to see the renowned
genderless kei and genderless gyaru walking around, and it is slowly becoming a
norm for Japanese people to see these types of fashion. British magazine company, i
D, interviewed several people who dress up as genderless, and an individual has have

Taking a Look a the Iberian Lynx
Taxonomy Phylogeny The Iberian Lynx is a member of the Felidae family under
the Lynx genus. Its scientific name is Lynx Pardinus. The Iberian lynx is believed to
be a descendent of the Issoire Lynx (Lynx issiodorensis), along with the other
members of the lynx family (bobcat, Canada Lynx, and Eurasian Lynx). Until
recently, the Iberian lynxwas thought to be a sub species of the Eurasian Lynx, it is
now classified as a separate species.
Range
Iberian Lynx were originally found all throughout Spain, Portugal and parts of
Southern France. They inhabit dense scrubby areas mixed with open fields. These
habitats were once prevalent throughout the Spanish countryside, but now are
disappearing. The area that the Iberian Lynx is able to successfully occupy has been
drastically reduced by human development resulting in habitat destruction.
Today, Iberian lynx are only found natural in two areas of southern Spain. The
highest concentrations are found Sierra Morena. The other wild population is found
in Donana National park. They do not have enough space to provide for their food
needs.
Population At one time the Iberian Lynx was abundant throughout the Iberian
Peninsula. With the decline of its habitat the Iberian Lynx population began to
plummet. This decline in population was very rapid. The loss of habitat restricted
food sources and separated populations, which caused the Lynx to disappear at an
alarming rate. In The 1960s there was estimated to be 3000 Iberian

Theme Of Damon And Pythias
I believe that the story Two Friends has presented friendship more realistically than
Damon and Pythias . The reason I believe this is because Damon and Pythias is a
Greek legend. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the term legend is defined
as A traditional story sometimes popularly regarded as historical but not
authenticated. (oxforddictionaries.com). This definition suggests that the story is not
authenticated, which means it may contain false and made up contents. This is
contrary to the definition of reality. Therefore, the fact that Damon and Pythias is a
greek legend makes the story unrealistic and not able to present a realistic friendship.
On the other hand, the story Two Friends is a story set during a real... Show more

In Damon and Pythias , the tyrannical Dionysius challenged the friendship between
Damon and Pythias. Dionysius forced Damon and Pythias into a situation where
Damon could have betrayed Pythias. Dionysius described Pythias faith toward his
friend Damon as foolish faith (Russell, 1231). This quote suggests that Dionysius is
a force against the friendship in the story. On the other hand, in the story Two Friends
, the forces that opposed the friendship between the two gentlemen were the Prussian
soldiers. The Prussian soldiers challenged the friendship between the two gentlemen
by forcing them to confess the truth about the password while pulling them away
from each other. If the gentleman did so, then it would have resulted in betrayal. For
example, this is a quote from the Prussian officer: Quick, the password? Your friend
won t know. (Silber, 1239). This quote shows evidence of the Prussian soldier
attempting to make the friends betray each other. In conclusion, both stories showed
forces opposing friendship. The tyrannical Dionysius was the force that challenged
the friendship in Damon and Pythias , and the Prussian soldiers were the forces that
challenged the friendship in Two

The Distorted Stereotype of Skin Heads
The battlefield has been erected, the combatants have been selected. A battle line
has been drawn on streets across the world. Choose your weapon and choose
wisely. What shall it be brass knuckles, a bottle, belt buckle, sock full of ball
bearings, blackjack, baton, switchblade, brick, or the old fashion fisticuffs. A war is
being waged within the skinheadculture a war that has been waged since the 1970s.
A war between traditional skinheads and racist skinheads, the most notable factions
involved in the war are the S.H.A.R.P.S. or Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice
commonly referred to as SHARPS. They originated in New York but have
membership in a plethora of other American cities such as Atlanta, Los Angeles,
Seattle, Chicago, and Kansas City among others. The SHARP organization numbers
in the thousands with membership in several other countries in South America such
as Chile, and branches throughout the world in the United Kingdom, Spain,
Portugal, and even Malaysia. Rivaling this nation and its ideologies would be the
racist skinheads also known as White Power Skinheads. Although they have their
own branches a great number of these skinheads are Neo Nazis. It is because of the
brutal tactics of these far right militant skinheads the skinhead culture has been
branded with a bad reputation by the media. Because of white power skinheads
everyone stereotypes all skinheads as racists. Honestly even I used to think this way
but once I read articles and learned for myself

PEST Analysis
In term of external environment, DEUTSCHE TELEKOM is also influenced by the
general, industry, and competitor environments. The general environment is
composed of elements in the boarder society that influence an industry and the firms
within it. These elements can be characterized into six elements: demographic, politic
/legal, sociocultural, technological, and global. However, only certain elements are
related to DEUTSCHE TELEKOM, there are:
Political
If we look at the political environment, Telekom Equipment is on the safe side since it
is publicly owned and thus protected by government.
In term of political preferences, what might happened is that DEUTSCHE
TELEKOM gets threat of from new entrants such as, Clarnet telecommunication,
Freenet telecommunication and Agitr telecommunication. It meaning to say that,
right now there are substitution products and services in term of telecommunication
only and this will be the intensity of rivalry among competitors. So it directly
influences DEUTSCHE TELEKOM and its competitive actions and responses.
Therefore, the challenge is to locate a position within an industry where DEUTSCHE
TELEKOM can influence these factors or where it can successfully defend against
their influence. This can be done by providing broader products and service such as,
offering tailor made Total Solutions from the latest IT and telecommunication
products to financial
Persuasive Essay On Animal Dissection
Most people have dissected an animal at some point in their education, be it a frog,
pig, cat, or another animal. Every year in the United States, roughly ten million
animals are killed and used for dissection in schools ( Animals Used in Education
1).The surplus of students dissecting animals in class has led to this substantial
number. Dissectionis said to increase student understanding of biology and an interest
in careers in science (Edulab 1), which is why countless schools have their students
dissect animals. However, others advocate for methods that don t involve cruelty to
animals. Why use a learning technique if other methods are less expensive, and some
tactics equally or more effective regarding student learning? Essentially, an abundance
of schools incorporate animal dissection as an educational tool, but they seldom think
of how negatively the lives of countless animals are impacted. People don t fathom
the cruelty that happens to animals before they land on the dissection table, and that
is something that needs to be changed. The dissection of animals for educationhas
been a traditionally used teaching tactic for decades, and it is cruel and should no
longer be used. To start, the suppliers of the animals to be dissected have been caught
mistreating their animals. PETA s investigations into biological supply companies,
which sell animal bodies and parts, have uncovered acts of cruelty to animals,
including the drowning of rabbits and the embalming of cats
Cause And Effects Of The Age Of Exploration
The Age of Exploration, or sometimes known as the Age of discovery, began in the
1400s and continued throughout the 1700s. These expeditions took a great deal
of man power, money, and technology. Many ships were only able to cover about
one hundred miles a day, making the duration of these voyages long, taking years
to complete. During this period Europeans began to explore various parts of the
world via sea. Most of the men did not join these voyages willingly, they were
forced into service and worked around the clock minding the ships they were on.
The typical diet of a sailor consisted of wine or hard liquor, pork or beef which
sometimes they used fat to mix with flour when meat portions were low, biscuits,
peas, and rice. Due to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was interested in rare items such as: exotic specimens, jewels, mineral
substances, and many other goods as well. To successfully complete seven
voyages, the Chinese had many different methods as to how they would tackle
each voyage. The Chinese had a lot of power in the ocean, they gained this power
because piracy was sponsored so heavily. Chinese were led by enlightened despot.
They believed that each place should be under china as mandated by heaven. The
Chinese were in favor of those who supported the idea and those who did not agree
face consequences. The Ming navy consisted of 3,500 ships which exceeded any
navy in the world. Their ships came equipped with an overwhelming amount of
gunpower which symbolized military power. China also aimed to achieve a
greater structure within their government. They were also interested in the Treaty
of Tordesillas which was done by the pope. The treaty was put in place to help
Spain and Portugal resolve their conflicts over newly discovered lands and goods.
The Chinese became mongols in trade so much so that their foreign trade became a
state monopoly. Although they were successful in trade and known for being so
powerful these voyages had consequences. China ended up with a large expense for
going into the Indian ocean. Their expenses came from having about 28,000 soldiers
to tend to and feed in order their ships be manned. Even though China monopolized
trading by having ports in various areas,
Nt1310 Unit 3 Assignment 1 Bridge
Bridge:
Bridge is a simple device that aids in interconnecting similar LAN s between local
area networks that use identical protocols for the physical and data link layers in
accordance with the IEEE 802.3 standards. As the devices connected to the bridge
use the same protocols, the amount of processing required is minimal. Nowadays,
routers are used more commonly to interconnect LAN s as bridges are Layer 2
devices and pose almost no security while the router is a Layer 3 device and offers
better Data Security.
Routers:
Paraphrasing (Stallings, 2007) the function of routers is to get the packet to a
destination network. The router reads the header created by the Network Layer of
the protocol stack on the source computer. The router can be configured to filter by

Switch:
According to (Burke, 2004),A switch is a multiport bridge. When a switch receives
a frame (A data packet with address and other protocol information embedded), it
amplifies the signal, looks at the MAC address to determine which port should
retransmit the frame to get it to the intended network device and sends it to that
port. The switch can be configured to disconnect any attached device, to discard
frames intended for an attached device, to send frames with a specific hardware
address to another hardware address instead and to copy a frame to a mirror port
which can send it to an attached traffic monitor.
Network Interface Card:
Every Computer that connects to a network must have a Network Interface Card
(NIC). Most new Computers have them built into the motherboard. It has one or
sometimes more RJ45 socket(s) that connect to a modem. The older and deprecated
version used to have RJ11 sockets to connect to the network. Due to it being
extremely vulnerable to phreaking and war dialing, it has now been replaced with
Bowling Report
Bowling Report History of Bowling Bowling has a long and rich history, and
today is one of the most popular sports in the world. A British anthropologist, Sir
Flinders Petrie, discovered in the 1930 s a collection of objects in a child s grave
in Egypt that appeared to him to be used for a crude form of bowling. If he was
correct, then bowling traces its ancestry to 3200 BC. A German historian, William
Pehle, asserted that bowling began in his country about 300 AD. There is
substantial evidence that a form of bowling was in vogue in England in 1366, when
King Edward III allegedly outlawed it to keep his troops focused on archery
practice. And it is almost certain that bowling was popular during the reign of Henry
VIII. By this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No longer did a proprietor have to rely on pinboys . Television embraced bowling
in the 1950 s, and the game s popularity grew exponentially. NBC s broadcast of
Championship Bowling was the first network coverage of bowling. Coverage
proliferated with shows like Make That Spare , Celebrity Bowling , and Bowling
For Dollars. And in 1961, ABC became the first network to telecast competition of
the Pro Bowlers Association. Successful promoter, agent and entrepreneur Eddie
Elias founded the PBA, and with his leadership, the Pro Bowlers Tour became a
hugely popular stalwart of ABC sports broadcasting. Joined later by telecasts of
the Ladies Pro Bowlers Tour (now the Professional Women s Bowling Association,
PWBA) millions of Americans witnessed and became interested in the sport.
Today, the sport of bowling is enjoyed by 95 million people in more ninety
countries worldwide. Under the auspices of the Federation Nationale des Quilleurs
(FIQ) bowling s top athletes regularly compete in Olympic Zone and worldwide
competitions. Rules of Bowling The rules of bowling are fairly simple. What has
been explained above is the essence of the entire game. But of course there is
slightly more to it than that. The scoring system is one of those things. There are, as
the name suggests, ten pins to knock down. How many a player knocks down in a
frame (with one or two balls) counts as the score for that frame. For example,
A Comparison Of The Atlanta Olympics And The Athens
Olympics
Every four years, billions of people turn on the TV to witness the historical Olympic
Games. Some Games are considered a financial success, while others aren t as lucky.
Each host city s Olympics are unique, but still resemble the tradition of the Games.
The Opening Ceremonies, new records, costs, and the legacy creates differences
between the Atlanta Olympics and the AthensOlympics.
The Olympic Games set in Atlanta, Georgia took place on July 19th to August 4th in
1996. The bid for the 1996 Olympic host city ended up being between Atlanta,
Georgia and Athens, Greece. However, Atlanta would win the bid to host. Atlanta
chose the slogan Come Capture Our Dream to represent the Games. 10,320 athletes
from 197 nations were set to compete at the Olympic Games. The athletes competed
in 271 events in 26 sports. These events were scheduled at 26 different venues around
Atlanta.
Eight years later, Athens, Greece won the bid to host the 2004 Olympic Games. The
Olympics would start on August 13th and end on the 29th. This Olympics was a
little bigger than the Olympics in 1996. Athens chose the slogan Welcome Home to
symbolize that Greece was the birthplace of the Olympics. There were 305 more
athletes that competed totaling up to 10,625 athletes. 201 nations competed in 301
events at 34 different venues. Women s wrestling and women s sabre made their
debut at the Games making the total number of sports increase by two to twenty eight.
To start off the Olympic Games in Atlanta,

Frederick Douglass Racism
The Narrative of The Life of Frederick Douglass Essay The controversy of racism
is a big part in the Narrative of The Life of Frederick Douglass, written by Frederick
Douglass himself. Douglass unveils the atrocious truth about slavery that at the time,
was not spoken about. Douglass debunks the mythology of slaveryin his narrative by
rebuking the romantic image of slavery with very disturbing imagery, promotes his
own views on the intellectual belief of slaves, and exposes the system for promoting
the disloyalty among slaves. All of slaveries inhumane behavior that at the time, was
tolerated. To describe these acts as cruel would be an understatement, Douglass does
not hold back on the tragedies he witnessed and he does not hold back... Show more

The novel speaks of the torture, verbal abuse, death, rape, every awful act that
could be done to one. Yet at the time it was not seen as wrong act due to the fact
that people looked to the romanticism of slavery, claiming that Religion, or the so
called intellectual inferiority was what supported slavery. However the nation is
much smarter than it was back then, the nation has seen the error of its ways
because of Frederick Douglass, the ex slave, the nation s hero. Douglass gave
insight to his reader by destroying the fraud romantic image of slavery with
examples of torture he witnessed and experienced, proving wrong of slaves
intellectual inferiority by proving that he could educate himself without the aid of
a master and with the will power of his own, and exposing the conspiracy of
promoting disloyalty within the slave community with examples of how the
slaveowners manipulated the slaves. Douglass is a hero who risked his life to
become a better and help the nation heal. He uses imagery to expose the horror, he
pursues knowledge for power, and did not corrupt to disloyalty. The Narrative of
The Life of Frederick Douglass helped shape the nation and healed the people who
were wounded in this tragedy, the nation will never forget what Frederick and
millions of others endured, it is a mistake that will never be
Socrates Flaws
Socrates, in a simple but bold statement, proclaims wisdom as being the cardinal
virtue. He believed that if one does not examine oneself, their life has no true
meaning. Socrates defended the idea and virtue of self examination, for he believed it
is through change and growth that people attain self betterment. Not only this, but
this method of critical reflection also realigns values with what is actually important
in life, such as wisdom and spirituality. Socratesbelieved that examination and
scrutiny of one s beliefs were necessary in order to improve oneself. Without
review, people would never be able to see their faults. Socrates lists this reason in
Apology as why he cross examines people: For I do nothing but go about persuading

A person with unexamined values generally holds the insignificant to be what is
important and what is truly significant to be inconsequential. In the Apology, Socrates
addresses the men of Athens on this subject: Are you not ashamed of heaping up the
greatest amount of money and honour and reputation, and caring so little about
wisdom and truth and the greatest improvement of the soul (Plato)? Through this
statement, Socrates argument perfectly encapsulates the state that an unexamined
society exists in one that values greatness over goodness. Though over two
thousand years have passed since Socrates stated this before the Athenian court, it
remains an accurate portrait of society; the majority of people amass material
things, strive to become famous, and seemingly work only to gain wealth, all while
hardly caring about knowledge, morals, or personal integrity. These skewing of
values are the result of an unexamined life. People who never inspect what they hold
valuable are swept up into society s race to riches and fame, instead of focusing on
enriching themselves and others with wisdom and truth. People often ruin their lives
as well as others in pursuit of their vices. Socrates knew that by examining oneself
and what values are genuinely important, one not only safeguards himself against
such downfalls, but they can also be led to the most valuable things of

  • 2. Al Capone DBQ Al Capone was from Chicago and the greatest gangster in the Roaring Twenties. Prohibition happened from 1919 to 1933 and was famously known as the Roaring Twenties . The Eighteenth Amendment was passed and banned the manufacture and sales of all alcoholic beverages. The Volstead act made the law official and stated that owning any item used to produce alcohol was illegal. According to the background essay, meant any beverage more than 0.5% alcohol by volume. This meant that no alcohol with more than the legal amount was allowed. Anyone who did this would go to jail or be fined. People wanted alcohol, so bad that all these bars started to open. Illegal bars, called speakeasies, opened up across the country as stated in the background... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was a good time for bootleggers, rumrunners, gangsters, etc. because their life was good and they had everything they wanted. Gangs would cause trouble and the evils of society would come out. Doc B states, But for the owners of blind pigs, the bootleggers, the rumrunners and gangsters, the roadhouse proprietors, the police, the magistrates, the spotters, the boaters and armies of others, it was a roaring success. It gave jobs to the people who supported prohibition because they would sell the alcohol. People were becoming rich, owning nice suits, and fancy cars. But for the temperance societies, churches and fanatic evangelists who authored the legislation prohibition was a fail. ...putting liquor out of the reach of the general population, they had in effect created a monster. (Doc B). Prohibition did not stop people from getting liquor like these religious groups thought it would. Even though life was good for the people who did not support prohibition they caused too much trouble and the people who supported prohibition were not happy with the outcome of this new law. In conclusion, prohibition is disturbing society and causing trouble because people are desperate for the

I think this was my strongest areas because I prefer to see information. My second highest was in auditory modality which was a 28. I also prefer to hear information, this helps me take in and retain the information being taught. I scored a 20 in tactile modality. This was my lowest area because learningby touching and doing hasn t really helped me. Based on these patterns, I learn by seeing and hearing. • 4. change in macbeth character Macbeth s character shows us the tragedy of over ambitious people; it also shows us that negative aspects can overwhelm the good side of our personality. Throughout this piece of writing I will be showing the changes within Macbeths character, which is the only character within the play that has visible changes in his character. I will be describing these points by inspecting the asides and soliloquies, which are both dramatic ironies that place the audience in a privileged position as they are introduced to the characters thought pattern that gives them an insight to how he may be feeling. All of which is unbeknown to other characters in the scene. In Act I, Sc iii, when Macbeth is told that he is the Thane of Cawdor, he is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... and this explains how double faced and furtive devious he becomes. Act IV, Sc I shows how Macbeth believes only in the witches, he trusts them and makes all his plans and arrangement according to their prophecies. This doesn t only show us a mental change but also how Macbeth lost his morality, honesty, and nobility and became more frenzied, no more mercy to be thought of or shown and decides, The firstlings of my heart shall be The firstling of my hand. Comparing this to the first soliloquy in my piece of writing we perceive a tremendous development of his personality and attitude. He is not hesitant about killing any more and will do any thing to keep his throne and power. Following his meeting with the witches they tell him to be ware Macduff and macbeth acts upon this warning by sending murderers to kill His wife, his babes, and all unfortunate souls this act shows in depth how immoral he becomes. It didn t stop with killing the king, his friend, Lady Macduff and her children; Macbeth has lost even the sense of what does love and family mean and becomes more selfish. In Act V, Sc v, the servant informs Macbeth of the distressing sorrowful news about the death of Lady Macbeth But he replies with cold nerves: She should have died hereafter; There would have been a time for such a word His wife is not one of his main concerns; he does not even respect the sanctity
  • 5. Diabetes Mellitus Essay examples Diabetes mellitus (DM) or simply diabetes, is a chronic health condition in which the body either fails to produce the amount of insulin needed or it responds inadequately to the insulin secreted by the pancreas. The three primary types of diabetes are: Diabetes Type 1 and 2, and during some pregnancies, Gestational diabetes. The clichГ© for all three types of diabetes is high glucose blood levels or hyperglycemia. The pathophysiology of all types of diabetes mellitusis related to the hormone insulin, which is secreted by the beta cells of the pancreas. This hormone is responsible for maintaining an optimal glucose level in the blood. It allows the body cells to use glucose as a main energy source. Due to abnormal insulin metabolism, in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With gestational diabetes it is glucose intolerance during pregnancy in a woman not previously diagnosed with diabetes. It may occur if placental hormones counteract insulin, causing insulin resistance. The exact cause of type 1 diabetes mellitus, previously known as insulin dependent diabetes mellitus, is unknown. What we know today is that in most people with type 1, their body s own immune system which normally fights against infections mistakenly destroys the beta cells of the pancreas making insulin secretion impossible. Genetics also plays a role in this process, and exposure to certain viruses could trigger the disease. Whatever the cause, once 90% or more of the beta cells are destroyed, the pancreas will produce little or no insulin. In type 1 diabetes due to the lack of insulin, the glucose is not able to enter the cells to be used for energy and instead it builds up into the bloodstream, where it can cause life threatening complications. The cause of type 1 diabetes is different from the cause of the more common type 2 diabetes in which the beta cells of the pancreas are still functioning, but the body becomes resistant to insulin or the pancreas is not able to produce enough insulin or both. The early symptoms of untreated diabetes are related to elevated blood sugar levels and loss of glucose in urine. High amount of glucose in urine can lead to increased urine output and dehydration. Insulin deficiency can lead to weight loss despite the polyphagia.
  • 6. The Basics of Toilet Training Essay The process of toilet training may be considered the most challenging process that parents encounter with their child during the early stages of his or life. Toilet training can be described as an individualized developmental process that all children will progress at their own developmental pace and temperament, not the child s chronological age. Toilettraining should be a natural result of the child s developmental readiness. Therefore the primary goal can only be achieved when the child is ready and willing. Just like any learning process for a child, including toilet training, it effects the development of the whole child and it is important that the child has the necessary physical, social, emotional, and cognitive skills to begin.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the toilet training process, a child must obtain body awareness and be able to associate bodily sensation to the result that follows, poop or pee. Then after he masters that skill he must acquire the certain skills that will allow him to picture what he wants to do (use the toilet), create a plan to get here, begin using it, and remain in place long enough to finish, which requires both memory and concentration (Wolraich 26). The next and probably most difficult readiness sign a parent must recognize before starting the toilet training process is emotional growth. There are many emotional issues that can greatly affect toilet training that include a eagerness for independence, a child s need for control, testing of rules and limits, desire to win parents approval, and fears of toilet use. If a child resists the idea of using the toilet when mentioned he may be experiencing an emotional issue and the parent should wait for a better time to follow through with the process. If the child is continually repeating signs of resistance a parent may want to rethink if it is too soon to begin the process and understand that the child may be going through a major change in the his life that is creating stress. Parents should know that it is not the best time to toilet train when a new baby is expected soon or has recently arrived, the family has newly moved, the child has just

The paint peeling, many of the roof s shackles are gone astray, the gutter s useless, debris dripping from the corners of the rooftop. Over the years, many women have fought for their rights and we can see how much their effort has paid off with the rights we have now. Three Acts that have revolutionized women s workplace rights are the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Equal Pay Act, and the Pregnancy DiscriminationAct. Surprisingly, not many women, or people in general, know what the Family and Medical Leave Act really is. It usually refers to international diplomacy, the conduct of international relations through the intercession of professional diplomats with regard to issues of peace making, trade, economics and culture (p. 1). The combination of inadequate infrastructure and the government s deliberate policy which controls access to the internet have produced an extremely slow service that is not widely available throughout the population. So he decided to move to New York City where he met Henry Bessemer. Bessemer taught him how to make steel, so then Carnegie moved back to Pittsburg and set up a steel mill. There he became a steel king and it caused him to become extremely wealthy. A hero is someone who has courage, integrity, and a concern for others. There were three reasons Andrew Carnegiewas not a hero and they are he was a hypocrite, did not care about others, and caused others to lose self respect. • 14. Natural Light In Gothic Architecture Since ancient times and throughout the history of architecture, to present days, natural light played a key role in building design. In a physical sense, its interaction with the surrounding environment affects and transforms the perception of space. It can also instigate and incite different emotional reactions in humans. Lightis also used and has been used in sacred architectureas a symbolic value. Its manipulation can evoke feelings of spirituality. This essential natural resource in some cultures and religions represents the manifestation of the divine. In this essay, I will use three influential architectural style periods to compare the use of natural light in both a physical and symbolic sense: the ancient Egypt period, the Gothic period in France, and the 20th Century architecture. Ancient cultures, such as the Egyptians, designed temples taking into consideration the effects of natural light. Using Online Crowdfunding Platforms And Social Media Introduction: Methods for sourcing donations have evolved dramatically in recent years through the use of online crowdfunding platforms and social media. Crowdfunding is defined by Oxford dictionary as the practice of funding a project or venture by raising small amounts of money from a large number of people, typically via the Internet. Examples of popular crowdfunding methods are Facebook s Donate Now button along with standalone donation platforms such as Gofundme, Kickstarter, Crowdrise, Spot.us, Gojournalim.ca, Kiva.org, and Indiegogo. Literature Review This literature review investigates the current crowdfunding landscape based on the following three components. First, who is participating and who is benefiting from a business investing, charitable giving and peer to peer lending standpoint. Second, what factors and economic theories contribute to the ultimate success or failure of an investment project on a crowdfunding platform. And lastly, what are the positive reward systems and negative implications for both the cause and the contributor? The objective of this literature review is to recognize how these components affect a new generation of funding. I will highlight reasons why these sources are rapidly growing and postulate if they are replacing the older, highly constrained traditional funding models. Who Crowdfunds and Who Benefits? Crowdfunding can be used for anything from start up businesses, research funding, citizen journalism, independent creative projects, and non profit fundraising, to individual medical expenses, student loans debt and even financing personal luxuries. The aim is to look at the age range of 13 18 years, as these youngsters have a tendency to be criticised more by society. With no thought that they are individuals with different morals and personalities. There is a high level of petty crime, recreational drugs, truancy and teenage pregnancy in this range of younger people. There is also a higher level of social exclusions for this age group. There is always a tendency to lay blame on their circumstances and backgrounds. It is not necessarily true that if you come from a less adequate background, that you are more likely to be an underachiever. If you give someone self esteem then they can always do better. People assume that they can pass judgement on someone else s life, which is labelling them as inadequate. Like traditional stereotypes, the teenager has been given a distorted image by the modern media (Int, 2003). Both young people and older adults deserve more choices in where and how they spend their time. Others should not dictate them, how and where. The need is more acceptable for this to happen for older

The section of the poem that will be analyzed is the final ten lines (25 34). Death plays a significant, and rather obvious role in narrative this poem. The main focuses of second half of the poem is concentrated on accident that takes place in which a boy loses his hand, and eventually his life. A few lines in the section that I felt were specifically important to interpret was when the narrater says, He saw all spoiled. Don t let him cut my hand off, The doctor, when he comes. Don t let him, sister! So. But the hand was already gone (23 25). In these lines, a sense of helplessness can be felt due the doctor arriving once it is too late. I believe that the doctors late arrival can be related to the death of Frosts first born son, Elliot who passes away due to Cholera. A relationship can be drawn between the inability of Frost to save his son from his disease, to the inevitable death of the young boy in the poem. The last two lines of the poem possess an extremely powerful sense of defeat and sorrow. In these last two lines, Frost writes, No more to build on there. And they, since they Were not the one dead, turned to their affairs. • 30. Cause And Effect Of Climate Change Causes and Effects of Climate Change Climate change is one of the most underrated and controversial, yet serious environmental issues in today s time. Despite what some may believe, there has been a vast amount of scientific evidence to support that climate change is occurring and human activity is the main source of it. Many factors (both anthropogenic and natural) contribute to climate change. However, the main cause is anthropogenic; greenhouse gasemissions. Three common practices that release greenhouse gases include the combustion of fossil fuels used in cars, methane released from landfills, and deforestation. Out of the abundance of greenhouse gases that can contribute to climate change, the highest amount comes from carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide emissions result from the burning of fossil fuels often used in cars. This contributes to the greenhouse effect which leads to the warming of the Earth. The Earth Science Communications Team states, A stronger greenhouse effect will warm the oceans and partially melt glaciers and other ice, increasing sea level. As the ocean s temperatures start to increase, populations of organisms that inhabit them will begin to decrease. Increased sea levels can lead to serious problems as well, such as destroyed homes and businesses, ruined crops and vegetation, contaminated water, and the deaths of people and animals. However, there are certain cases where carbon dioxide emissions can be beneficial. They can cause plants to grow
  • 31. Corruption In Julius Caesar When I hear the word honor, the first thing that comes to mind is to make proud. It brings me joy to know that I have been given approval and appreciation from others. On the opposite side of the spectrum, where there is honor, there is corruption. Much like it sounds, corruption is the opposite of pride, approval, and appreciation. I associate corruption with shame and indignity. In the play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, characters of both sides are presented. I believe that Mark Antonyis the most honorable individual in the play, and Cassius is by far the most corrupt. Mark Antony proves that he is honorable in the way that he is a dedicated servant to Caesar. From the very beginning, before Caesar s rise to power, Antony was there. As doubts and suspicions arose regarding Caesar s ability to rule, he stuck by his side, defending his name well beyond his death. Loyalty is a good quality to look for when searching for a friend and an even better quality when looking for someone to help govern a nation. Another way that Antony proves he is honorable is when he is still able to see the good in Brutus after all he has done. If that were me and I had been stabbed in the back (figuratively speaking) by someone I considered to be a friend, I would not be able to forgive so easily. Even so, Antony still chooses to see him as a very noble individual. Lastly, Antony shows his honor by avenging the death of Caesar even to the point of war. Imagine having someone on

Alexander Hamilton wrote essays to explain and defend the newly drafted constitution, in 1788, prior to its approval. In Federalist No. 78, Hamilton argues that the judiciarywould be the least threatening branch of government because it does not control the military or budget of the nation. In order to protect those rights, the judiciary should be given that power of judicial review to declare and void laws that are considered unconstitutional. Hamilton made a stamen that by giving judges tenure is an integral part of the judiciary system. Therefore, it would help to address some immediate concerns of appointing the unjust judge and a good behavior itself will place the power to the citizens. With that being said, once again he proves that the judicial branch is at mercy to the people. • 37. Theme Of Damon And Pythias I believe that the story Two Friends has presented friendship more realistically than Damon and Pythias . The reason I believe this is because Damon and Pythias is a Greek legend. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the term legend is defined as A traditional story sometimes popularly regarded as historical but not authenticated. (oxforddictionaries.com). This definition suggests that the story is not authenticated, which means it may contain false and made up contents. This is contrary to the definition of reality. Therefore, the fact that Damon and Pythias is a greek legend makes the story unrealistic and not able to present a realistic friendship. On the other hand, the story Two Friends is a story set during a real... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Damon and Pythias , the tyrannical Dionysius challenged the friendship between Damon and Pythias. Dionysius forced Damon and Pythias into a situation where Damon could have betrayed Pythias. Dionysius described Pythias faith toward his friend Damon as foolish faith (Russell, 1231). This quote suggests that Dionysius is a force against the friendship in the story. On the other hand, in the story Two Friends , the forces that opposed the friendship between the two gentlemen were the Prussian soldiers. The Prussian soldiers challenged the friendship between the two gentlemen by forcing them to confess the truth about the password while pulling them away from each other. If the gentleman did so, then it would have resulted in betrayal. For example, this is a quote from the Prussian officer: Quick, the password? Your friend won t know. (Silber, 1239). This quote shows evidence of the Prussian soldier attempting to make the friends betray each other. In conclusion, both stories showed forces opposing friendship. The tyrannical Dionysius was the force that challenged the friendship in Damon and Pythias , and the Prussian soldiers were the forces that challenged the friendship in Two

It is because of the brutal tactics of these far right militant skinheads the skinhead culture has been branded with a bad reputation by the media. Because of white power skinheads everyone stereotypes all skinheads as racists. Honestly even I used to think this way but once I read articles and learned for myself

  • 43. Persuasive Essay On Animal Dissection Most people have dissected an animal at some point in their education, be it a frog, pig, cat, or another animal. Every year in the United States, roughly ten million animals are killed and used for dissection in schools ( Animals Used in Education 1).The surplus of students dissecting animals in class has led to this substantial number. Dissectionis said to increase student understanding of biology and an interest in careers in science (Edulab 1), which is why countless schools have their students dissect animals. However, others advocate for methods that don t involve cruelty to animals. Why use a learning technique if other methods are less expensive, and some tactics equally or more effective regarding student learning? Essentially, an abundance of schools incorporate animal dissection as an educational tool, but they seldom think of how negatively the lives of countless animals are impacted. People don t fathom the cruelty that happens to animals before they land on the dissection table, and that is something that needs to be changed. The dissection of animals for educationhas been a traditionally used teaching tactic for decades, and it is cruel and should no longer be used. To start, the suppliers of the animals to be dissected have been caught mistreating their animals. PETA s investigations into biological supply companies, which sell animal bodies and parts, have uncovered acts of cruelty to animals, including the drowning of rabbits and the embalming of cats

Most of the men did not join these voyages willingly, they were forced into service and worked around the clock minding the ships they were on. A British anthropologist, Sir Flinders Petrie, discovered in the 1930 s a collection of objects in a child s grave in Egypt that appeared to him to be used for a crude form of bowling. If he was correct, then bowling traces its ancestry to 3200 BC. A German historian, William Pehle, asserted that bowling began in his country about 300 AD. Socrates defended the idea and virtue of self examination, for he believed it is through change and growth that people attain self betterment. Not only this, but this method of critical reflection also realigns values with what is actually important in life, such as wisdom and spirituality. A person with unexamined values generally holds the insignificant to be what is important and what is truly significant to be inconsequential. In the Apology, Socrates addresses the men of Athens on this subject: Are you not ashamed of heaping up the greatest amount of money and honour and reputation, and caring so little about wisdom and truth and the greatest improvement of the soul (Plato)? Through this statement, Socrates argument perfectly encapsulates the state that an unexamined society exists in one that values greatness over goodness. Though over two thousand years have passed since Socrates stated this before the Athenian court, it remains an accurate portrait of society; the majority of people amass material things, strive to become famous, and seemingly work only to gain wealth, all while hardly caring about knowledge, morals, or personal integrity. These skewing of values are the result of an unexamined life. People who never inspect what they hold valuable are swept up into society s race to riches and fame, instead of focusing on enriching themselves and others with wisdom and truth. People often ruin their lives as well as others in pursuit of their vices. Socrates knew that by examining oneself and what values are genuinely important, one not only safeguards himself against such downfalls, but they can also be led to the most valuable things of
