Similarities Between Utopia And Dystopian Society
What do you know about a Utopian and Dystopian society? Some people may think that a Utopian
society such as ВЁThe GiverВЁ society is more significant because the society has control and
equality but why? The society that is proclaimed to be perfect isnВґt so perfect after all. The Giver
society and our society today have many things that are different such as leadership, freedom, and
laws. But also have some things in common. The Givers society and the society we live in today
have differences but also similarities such as who is the leader or figurehead in the community.
The leader in our society is the President. The President approves or vetoВґs the laws that the
branches of government make. But in ВЁThe GiverВЁ the figurehead is The Chief

Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham
Kabhi Kushi Kabhie Gham synopsis:
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham It s All About Loving Your Parents.
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is a lavish movie that deals with the issues of class distinction and the
roles of women and men in marriage. It opens with a grown Rohan (Hrithik Roshan) finishing his
boarding school education and returning to visit his grandmothers before he goes home for Diwali.
His grandmothers, haunted by the memory of Rohan s estranged brother, Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan),
sit Rohan down, and in their grief, tell him the story of his family.
Yashvardhan Raichand (Amitabh Bachchan) is a famous, wealthy Indian businessman. He and his
wife Nandini (Jaya Badhuri) adopted a baby, Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan), and raised him as their own.

When Nandini reminds Yash to calm down a little, he starts to sing her an old filmi song to
placate her. When he forgets the words, Anjali blurts them out. Rukhsar and Daijaan are appalled
at Anjali s rudeness to both an elder and a social superior, and hasten her out of the party. On
catching sight of Rahul, Anjali is so distracted she bumps into a vase and smashes it. In complete
disgrace, she leaves the party.
The next day Daijaan brings Anjali by to apologize to Yash for breaking his pot, as Anjali calls it,
not knowing any better. Anjali makes her apology in her own unique way, interrupted not a few
times by Rahul, who, on seeing his love again, creates mischief behind his father s back. Hilarity
ensues, and on hearing she has been forgiven, Anjali turns to go, rather less decorously than is
proper, and in the process, smashes another pot. Daijaan rushes her away, and Rahul is left leaning
against the doorframe, completely lovestruck.
On hearing of her sister s humiliation at Rohan s school, Anjali is outraged, and lectures both her
sister and her father on the social ineptitude of rich people, saying, too much money, too little
heart. She vows to seek revenge, and as she backs up to go out the door, she bumps directly into
Rahul, who has brought Rohan to apologize. Rahul also asks for Anjali s friendship, and the next
day calls up her shop. Anjali answers, saying the shop has sweets for all occasions, including
engagements and weddings, to which

Essay On Tattoos And Tattoos
Discrimination and Tattoos In the past, people used to see people with tattoos as lacking in
character and work ethic. In light of the growing popularity of tattoos in the modern age, people s
opinions have stayed away from that. While the United Kingdom may not be as well known for
heavily tattooed people as other countries in the world, the popularity in the United Kingdom is
growing. Tattoos do not affect a person s character or work ethic; therefore, should not be
discriminated against in the United Kingdom. When most people see a person that is heavily
tattooed, they do not see the typical hard working family man. They see an inked up delinquent or
a drug addict. What they do not think about is that many people love to express... Show more

In the United Kingdom, there are no laws protecting employees from employer discrimination on
the sole basis of body art. During the hiring process, employers can have the most qualified
applicant possible with tattoos, but under current United Kingdom law, they can hire a less
qualified person who has no tattoos. This practice is completely legal without being considered a
form of discrimination. Employers in the United Kingdom stigmatize tattooed applicants and/or
employees work ethic, believing that they will not work as hard and send a negative image to
their clients (Michael). This kind of discrimination is unjust and unethical. The only way a person
can challenge this type of discrimination is if they are directly religious and even then, the
employee would have to go through a strenuous process of actually proving it has direct religious
ties. With the popularity of tattoos in the United Kingdom growing rapidly, many employers are
being forced to cut back on their prejudicial opinions of tattoos. According to the BBC, roughly
twenty percent of the United Kingdom s population has at least one tattoo. Among young adults, the
numbers rise to roughly thirty three percent (Kelly). Some companies will tolerate tattoos with the
exception of above the neck and hand tattoos, which are completely understandable in an
interpersonal business that involves customer service. Still, the problem lies in the professions
where employees do not make direct

Francois Rabelais And Thomas More Dystopia
The word utopia descended from a Greek word meaning no place and today is defined by the
Oxford English Dictionary as an imagined or hypothetical place, system, or state of existence in
which everything is perfect, especially in respect of social structure, laws and politics (). Both
Francois Rabelais and Thomas More describes the Utopic world to depict the ideal human society,
however, both texts describe a society in which dystopian features are extremely emphasized. This
shows that there is a thin line between an orderly society and a repressive dystopian one.
Historically, Utopiahas been considered by its values of egalitarianism: it has no class divisions;
people have economic freedom and stability, and have free will and lastly,... Show more content on

Thomas More offers a highly ordered society. ....one occupation at which everyone works, ...
trained in it from childhood... (). People are working in agriculture, which they practice from
childhood. This means that no one is really offered the opportunity of individual expression and
practice what they want. And furthermore, if these people want to learn another trade, he or she
requires a permission. Commonsense permission clearly means that these people have no free
will. Moreover, despite the abundance of everything everyone is wearing the same thing. And if
a person want to visit a friend or wants to travel just to discover a new place, he or she requires a
permission. Thus, although the opportunities to have everything and travel around, no one use
can benefit from those opportunities. This simply shows that people are without free will and
obliged to a highly ordered system. In Abbey of Theleme, on the other hand, it seems initially
that people have their free will and can govern their lives as they wish to. Rabelais says ...their
lives were not ordered and governed by laws and statutes and rules, but according to their own free
will... (). He demonstrates that women and men of Theleme governed their lives, got up when they
wish and worked when feel like. In other words, there were no obligations. Commonsense no
obligations mean free will.

Child Resilience In Out-Of-Home Care
The journal titled Children and Youth Services Review published an article in 2014 by
researchers Tessa Bell and Elisa Romano. This article is Child resilience in out of home care:
Child welfare worker perspectives. The authors chose to interview child service workers to discover
any missed information, since most other studies on this topic have focused on interviewing the
children, foster parents, and the childwelfare system as a whole. They decided to study children in
out of home care because they often experience mistreatment consequently, their resilience, or lack
thereof, may be more easily detected. That is not necessarily the case resilience is abstract, not

The Balance Between Environmental Risk And Economic Benefit
THE BALANCE BETWEEN ENVIRONMENTAL RISK AND ECONOMIC BENEFIT:
TRANSCANADA S ENERGY EAST PIPELINE
Canada is well known for having one of the world s largest oil reserves. But did you know that
Canada also has the third largest total length of pipelines (CIA, n.d.)? Why would anyone want
to add on to that already vast network? However, that is what TransCanada and many other
pipeline corporations propose we do. In this essay, I am going to analyze the recent conversation
surrounding the proposed creation of TransCanada s Energy East pipeline. TransCanada s
Energy East pipeline would take crude oil from Alberta s oil sands and transport it across the
country to a refinery in Saint John, New Brunswick. Some of the oil would then be loaded onto
marine tankers in Saint John and shipped overseas to Asian markets. With a construction cost of
around $15.7 billion, Energy East would become North America s largest oil pipeline, capable of
carrying 1.1 million barrels of oil per day (TransCanada, 2016). This would make a significant
impact on Canada s economy, as the pipeline is expected to create thousands of jobs and increase
Canada s gross domestic product by $55 billion (TransCanada, 2016). Furthermore, it may reduce
energy prices in Atlantic Canada, as they would no longer have to pay the premium for foreign
resources (Canadian Press, 2016). However, recently there has been a strong opposition to the
pipeline especially in Montreal and the surrounding region. The mayor of

Bomb Calorimeter Experiment
Discussion:
As can be seen in graph 1 that is above, the results in the graph indicates that the practical was
inaccurate. This is because that there was a great amount difference between the true nutritional
value of the three foods in the practical, then the actual calculated energy value from all the class
results. The energy in the true nutritional value on each of the food packets were in the thousands
per 100g compared to the class energy, as they were in the hundreds.
Accuracy:
From all the analysation of results for the three foods that was tested in the practical, it was easy
to say that the results were not accurate. As seen in the graph 1 above, the true value for popcorn
is 1910kJ, cheese and bacon is 2270kJ and macadamia is 3040kJ. ... Show more content on

Bomb calorimeter is a device that measures the amount of heat that flows in a chemical reaction.
How the bomb calorimeter works is that the food space gets filled with oxygen, the water space
fascinates the heat released by the food, then the thermometer measures the water temperature as
it gets increased and the ignition wire burns the food inside the bomb calorimeter. The bomb
calorimeter prevents heat loss because of the air space and the insulating jacket (McGraw Hill,
2016). By using a bomb calorimeter the errors of heat loss would not have occurred because a
bomb calorimeter reduces all errors like systematic and random.
Diagram 1 Diagram of the bomb calorimeter
Conclusion:
The prediction which was believed that the class average energy for popcorn, cheese and bacon
balls and macadamia will not match the true nutritional value which proved to be true and was
supported. Analysing all the systematic and random errors that occurred in this practical, it shows
that it made a huge difference in the final results between the class average and the true value. So
that makes this practical inaccurate and completely unreliable proves the prediction correct.
Safety:
Safety glasses must be worn at all times to prevent any damage to the eyes because the practical
involves fire and hot water.
Apron must be worn at all times to prevent any spills of liquid onto

Hockey Is The Most Elite Level Of Hockey
The National Hockey League, also known as the NHL, is the most elite level of hockey in the
world. With seven teams playing in Canada, the sport s country of origin, and twenty three teams
in the United States, hockey has become a favorite sport to watch globally. Hockey is full of
high speed, agility, skill, and is widely famous for its violence. Fans love and adore the sport for
its glorification of fighting, or best known in hockey as fisticuffs. Before the NHL was founded
in 1917, fighting had already been a strong and defining characteristic of the sport. Adam
Proteau of The Hockey News wrote an article on the history of fighting; fisticuffs credit its roots
back as far as the late 1800s. Proteau continues with, originally, fighting in hockey was frowned
upon and looked at by the media as classless and unnecessary. Proteau also states, ironically, with
the media making fighting such a big deal, it actually, in turn, created more fans and increased
attendance during the hockey games (Proteau). More recently, fighting has become a very
controversial issue in the NHL. Veteran players, sports journalists and physicians have argued
against the physicality and necessity of fighting and the dangers that ensue. Like the National
Football League (NFL), the NHL has been scrutinized and plagued with a plethora of player
concussions, and even deaths, which, recently, has sparked a strong debate on whether or not
fighting should be banned in the NHL. By the time the NHL was in

Terrorism Between Terrorism And Terrorism
Question ‐ What trends are evident in terrorism over the past 5 years? How have these trends
impacted on the ways in which counter terrorism has responded in the Australian context?
Introduction
Terrorism poses a serious security challenge to the Australia and globally as it prevalence has
increased over a decade although less attacks occur in the Western nations. The purpose of this
assignment is to examine what trends and terrorist tactics are evident internationally over the past 5
years and how Australia responded to these trends.
Definition
To have an understanding of the trends in international terrorism, it is essential to have an
understanding of the meaning of the term terrorism. There are hundreds of proposed definitions of
terrorism and researchers, experts, security professionals, NGOs, etc have adopted their own
definition.
In covering the trends and responses, the assignment also examines the debate over a definition of
terrorism that distinguishes acts of terrorism from criminal acts. One of the definitions that the
international communities had agreed when violence is used for political objectives is as
follows; Terrorism is the deliberate use of violence aimed against civilians in order to achieve
political goals (nationalistic, socioeconomic, ideological, religious, etc.) . It is important to note
that this framework is not for regular criminal activity, which warrants the application of criminal
legal norms (Boaz Ganor, pp 11 42, 27 May 2009).

Symptoms Of Sciatica Research Paper
Treat Sciatica Pain with Easy Yoga Exercises
Sciatic Nerve Actually, the largest nerve in our body is the sciatic nerve or ischiadic nerve. The
beginning of this nerve is in the lower part of the back. It continues down the back of each leg. It
is composed of nerve roots which start from the spine in the lower back.
Sciatica
Sciatica is a symptom of a medical condition. It is not a disease. The symptoms of sciatica are:
Pain in the lower back and in the back of the leg (usually just in one leg)
The pain increases while sitting
Burning feeling down the leg
Numbness in the leg or the foot
Inability to move the leg or the foot
Inability to stand or walk for a long period

overall competitive. Overall it can be assumed that the most efficient and prevalent employment

The Issue Of The Wild Tigers
From 100,000 to 3,500.
A hundred years ago, there where over 100,000 (Tigers) in the wild, with more than 40,000 in
India alone. Currently the total number of tigers worldwide is calculated at fewer than 3,500.
(Fraser) The population has dramatically dropped; the main reason is the healing powers of the tiger
bone. The beautiful and beneficial species for decades have been killed for their bones and skin.
There are many different tiger subspecies such as: Amur tiger, Bengal tiger, Siberian tiger,
Sumatran tigers and many more, unfortunately today there are only a few subspecies left. The high
demand for the bones and skins of tigers have not yet settled down, the black market continuously
hunts the unprotected animals. Although the issue is global, it has been unknowingly neglected
from the modern society. Many believe that the species are not endangered when they visit a zoo,
but the information states otherwise. The wild tigers are decreasing in numbers, and some predict
that in no time the species will be extinct. The lack of information one withholds, prevents them
from helping and improving the living conditions of wild tigers. In order to increase the population
of endangered tigers, we should use social media to raise awareness of the current extinction rate
and in correlation with the Government create a protection plan, regarding their territory and for
those who do harm the animals, will face serious consequences.

Review of The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, conducted by Bernard Haitink in 2009
The Symphony No. 6 in F major, Op. 68 was composed by Beethoven and was completed in
1808. It is also referred to as Pastoral Symphony. In 2009, Bernard Haitink conducted the
performance of the symphony by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
From Haitink s concert on Beethoven s sixth symphony, I was expecting to see the original work

composer s radical ideas as well as highlighting his classical influences. Its programmatic nature is

Programmatic symphonies occurred primarily in the late Romantic and Classical period. The
repetition of the different subjects is a feature is a programmatic symphony and, therefore, a
romantic trait. For example, the bird calls produced by the strings in bar
151 are programmatic.
Haitink s traversal of the Pastoral is a fine achievement, established on tempi that strike the viewers.
On the first movement, he takes it at a flowing, warm tempo. The Orchestra plays radiantly for him.
The played symphony has a nice, firm bass line, revealingly enriched at intervals by the horns, and
its attention to dynamics is meticulous throughout the whole symphony. The first movement ends
in such a way that, the symphony can be heard as a wonderfully civilized and wise account of the
performance.
The second movement is designed beautifully. Once again the tempo is skillfully chosen.
The woodwinds and the strings afford Haitink some fine playing and there are several lovely
woodwind solos for the audience to enjoy. The third movement is lithe and light this is a joyful and
well sprung dance. The subsequent storm is exciting, featuring some thrilling strikes on the timpani.
The finale brings an excellent summary of the performance. In Haitink s experienced hands, the
symphony is serene, displaying an inner radiance and warmth. The style is demonstrative and
completely natural. The pacing is perfect and the playing is glowing.

We were unable to complete the experiment due to the complete shattering of one of the
centrifuge tubes used in this experiment. This shattering was most likely due to the repeated use
of the same tube for the extraction. Because liquid CO2 induces a cold environment, and when a
material, particularly plastic, is exposed to repeated cycles of freezing and thawing the material
will become more brittle. Plastic is usually good at containing high pressures, but if the material
were to become brittle it would lose this ability and become fracture sensitive. This most likely

Honor Killing Is The Murder Of A Member
There are always sets of law in every country, when people do wrong things or break the rule, they
will be punished according to the regulation. Therefore, each country has different rules and
punishments, which depend on its culture. Back to Roman time, there was a rule known as Honor
killing and that was the first time honor killingwas started. It began with males who retained the
right to kill an unmarried female when she had done something related to sexual activities. Honor
killing is the murder of a member within the family by the other members. The males often kill the
female member as they belief that the female has brought dishonor to the family and the community
for many reasons such as engaging sexual activities without marriage. The killing shows the way to
save the honor and reputation of the family. In Pakistan, honor killing is known as KARO KARI.
Karo means black male and Kari means black female . Once a woman in the family is known as

Juvenile delinquency has been an emerging problem, involving much interest from researchers

Juvenile delinquency is a significant issue that lacks understanding and research needs to be done
to find possible factors, such as SES, that may play a role in the effectiveness of treatment
outcomes. An important shortcoming of the existing research is the lack of studies that examine
the data on delinquent outcomes to consider the possible impact of socioeconomic status (SES). In
Tiernan et al. (2015), they determined that demographic factors such as socioeconomic status have
been related to treatment outcomes in evidence based treatment. Research suggests that clinicians
should pay more attention to factors interfering with progress in cases with delinquent youth
(Tiernan et al., 2015). Importantly, none of these studies have examined the roles of socioeconomic
status in the perspective of understanding MST treatment efficiency (Robinson et al., 2015). The

The Bell Curve
Today, current events in the United States are mired with complex topics and simple answers.
Often times articles present information in biased ways, or make completely inaccurate
statements in order to emphasize an opinion. This often avoids addressing an issue with a serious
discussion of the empirical data and known information on the topic. One specific topic in which
data and studies are often presented carelessly or often misinterpreted is in the subject of IQ.

One of the final points made in The Bell Curve is that by acknowledging IQ as a factor that
exists, social policy and decisions made at the macro level can better be tailored to the needs of
groups. To prevent a cognitive elite from isolating itself from the rest of society, the book offers
a solution in which differences in abilities are recognized, and each individual can have a valued

severely negative effects on society s views and treatments of minority groups or historically
oppressed groups. The book is often described as a racist and bigoted book that tells its readers to
treat groups with significantly different IQ differently (2). While both sides can make a strong
case for the value of IQ in modern day society, without an understanding of the experiments and
design structure of the tests used to collect data on the subject, both arguments should seem

agenda in terms of protecting Muslims from a menacing India (Riedel 2008, 41). The resulting
physical and ideological fortress (Cohen 2006, 61) has endowed Pakistan with a progressively rigid
and myopic outlook. Depictions of a united Islamic community are fallacious, with Pakistan s
greatest threat being state disintegration. Almost every ethnicity, with the exception of Punjabi s,
has or had an ethno nationalist movement (Mushtaq 2009, 281). The 1971 loss of East Pakistan,
achieved partly with Indian assistance, starkly revealed not only the threat of balkanisation but also
its congruence with Indian interests. Ominously, Pakistan is now confronted with an exponentially
stronger India containing a larger number of Muslims than Pakistan itself (de Riencourt 1983, 420).

Disruptive Technologies: How the Email Disrupted Snail Mail and the Way in Which We
Communicate
Introduction Although emails can feel less formal and at times include the use of poorly used
grammar resulting in the message not exactly as clear as we would like it, the email
revolutionized the way in which we communicate. In the following essay we will touch on how
and why the email is creating a new culture within the way we communicate with people. A few of
the key points we will touch on are how the speed of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As time and society evolved, religious orders and universities developed a mail system to
exchange current events, information, and any other significant news that was taking place. As
the postal service and society continued to progress, private individuals were able to utilize this
relay of messengers delivering mail. By the 18th century international postal service was
commonly exchanged between countries that agreed to participate in international postal service.
During the year 1840 the international postal service was growing so complex that reform was
needed to simplify it. Sir Rowland Hill was credited with introducing the system where postage
for mail was prepaid in the form of a postage stamps to fund this ever increasing delivery system.
(Universal Postal Union) The definition of email, or electronic mail, is a system for sending
messages from one individual to another via telecommunication links between computers or
terminals using dedicated software. (Dictionary.com) Among the people I commonly communicate
with, having an email is just as common if not more common as having an actual physical mailing
address. For example, a student attending Temple University can use a different postal address for
each year of their academic studies due to moving to different locations, but throughout each
semester the student is usually using the same exact email address. According to an article by
Mashable, email can be traced back to 1971, if you

The Lasting Effect Of Adolf Hitler And The Holocaust
Many religious conflicts are built from prejudice. However, only few will have a lasting effect
on the world s history. In Germany in the year 1933, a man named Adolf Hitler rose to power. His
mission would be to exterminate all minorities, but most importantly, the Jews. Holocaust is a
word of Greek origin meaning sacrifice by fire . But as we now know in history, the Holocaustwas
the genocide of six million Jews by Hitler and the Nazi regime. Over the time of Hitler s reign, the
Jewish population would be stripped of their rights, dignity, and most preciously their lives.
At the end of WWI, Germany was directly blamed for causing the great conflict. Many Germans
could not accept this blame, and believed designed by the Jewish people as part of a greater
conspiracy. Adolf Hitlerwas appointed chancellor of Germany on January 30, 1933. The Nazi
rise to power ended the Weimar Republic, the German democracy that was established after
World War I. The Nazi state, also called The Third Reich, quickly became a regime in which
citizens had no guaranteed basic rights. Hitler s first objective was to eliminate political
opposition. The assault against the Jews began with a boycott of Jewish businesses. A week later
the Nazis dismissed Jews from civil service, and by the end of the month the participation of Jews
in German schools was restricted. In May 1933, thousands of Nazi students and professors stormed
university libraries and bookstores in cities throughout Germany to

The Visual Representation of a Body Part in Imaging...
Imaging technology is the visual representation of a body part, such as an organ, for the purpose
of a medical diagnosis. Nowadays, technologies such as X Rays, Magnetic Resonance Imaging
(MRI) and ultrasound are used everyday for medical analysis. X Rays are very useful because
they can penetrate through different materials to give an image of the interior of the body. MRI
use strong magnets to create an image of a body part, while ultrasound imaging uses sound waves.
Bone, muscle and fat absorb x rays at different levels, so the screen lets see different structures of
the body because the different levels of exposure are in different shades of gray. The main
component of an x ray machine is a vacuum tube with a cathode or filaments and an anode, which
is usually made of tungsten, a hard steel gray metal used to make electric light filaments. Electric
current passes through the filament, raising its temperature. Once it reaches a certain level of
energy, the filament starts emitting negatively charged electrons. These electrons are attracted with
great force from the positively tungsten anode, taking them through the vacuum tube at very high
speed. In one of the atom s lower orbital an electron gets knocked away when the anode collides
with electrons. An electron from the higher orbital takes place of the removed electron, releasing
energy as an X ray photon. (HowStuffWorks X Rays) Called bremsstrahlung , the reaction contains
x rays of varying wavelengths. The X ray

How Did The Author Change My Name
If you had the chance to change your name, what would you change it to? Many authors of
famous books change their name for many different reasons. This is called a Pen name. Some
authors come up with pen names to hide who they really are, to keep their gender a secret, or to
publish more books with different names. George Orwell. Does that sound familiar. He was the
author of the famous books Animals Farms. According to E. Bennett, Eric Blair, the real author,
only wanted to use a pen name so his family wouldn t be embarrassed of his work (Source 1)
Keeping his real name and identity a secret would let people read his work but, nobody would
know who he actually is. Another author who did this is C. S. Lewis. He used the name Clive
Hamilton to write his books. He was concerned about his status as a professor at Oxford, he used
the name Clive Hamilton to publish a collection of poems (Source 1). He didn t want people at his
university to know who he was so he used a pen name to hide it.... Show more content on

Many girls used what sounded like boys names so they would sell more copies of books. A few
examples of women that did this were J. K. Rowling. She was the author of the Harry Potter
series. According to source one, Rowling s publishers feared that young boys the presumed
audience of the Harry Potter series wouldn t take the book seriously if they knew it was written
by a woman. Another example of this is Jane Eyre. Victorian culture discouraged women from
having literary aspirations. This shows us that people didn t want women to write books. In order
for her to get her stories published, she had to have a man s name , Currer

Government Over Regulation Of The United States
Camille Nelson
Kline
Honors English 10
10 April 2017
Government Over Regulation The United States has slowly conformed to the new ways of the
Western policy of democratic socialism in order to achieve equality in the eyes of the law, but
with this the necessary regulatory compliance of all citizens must be provided. If all American
citizens do agree to abide by the rules implemented by the United States, the freedom that they
came here for would be nonexistent, and they would no longer have the ability to truly live the
infamous American dream . The economy is also beginning to move away from the capitalist ways
and move toward an ideology of equality among the wealth and incomes of the people, and the only

Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves (Tanner
1). Joseph Stiglitz, a Nobel Prize winner, Chief Economist at Roosevelt Institute, best selling
author, and a professor at Columbia University explains the problems with the current economy in
the United States in his book Rewriting the Rules of the American Economy. He explains that
even though the one percent of the United States population is living a prosperous life, the
remaining ninety nine percent are being hurt by this reality (Stiglitz 8). From this it can be
concluded that the regulations currently being pressed upon the majority of the population are
hurting more than benefitting. Capitalism is defined as an economic and political system in
which a country s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by
the state (Oxford Dictionary 1). There has been a longing to find a balance between this and
socialism. The laissez faire is the commonly known economic idea of a government refraining
from interfering in the free market in order to allow the people to control their own means of
production and selling of goods. This seems to be ruined by the over regulation of the economy by
the government because much of the US economic benefits rely on the free market. Also,
capitalism allows for people to voluntarily take part in making their own wealth. Without this,
competition among businesses would be gone and

Modern Day Era And Its Impact On Our Society
Humans have been communicating with each other as long as the human race can remember. It
has been the essences of our survival allowing us to be able to pass on our knowledge, express
ideas, and covey emotions. As time passed, we have learned different methods to communicate.
For example, we have learned to communicate with words and symbols which has helped us
evolve and form a foundation for our society. Words and symbols have allowed to us expand our
ability to communicate and the ability to express our ideas in a greater way. Typography has
become one of the most influential ways that we use to communicate in this modern day era; and
it plays a major role in our society. Typography essentially is found everywhere from posters to
books, magazines to signs and generally anywhere where type is involved. Now the history of type
itself is quite long which definitely states that type has come a long way and has a great history
behind it. Two of the most well known movements in type, which introduced new principals and
brought change to type, would be the Bauhausmovement and Futurist movement. These two
movements have brought forth change and principals that have influenced the typography work in
todays world. In this essay I will be discussing how the Bauhaus movement and the Futurist
movement are different in terms of their philosophy of type, the characteristics and works of art.
The philosophy of these two movements are different in terms of how they both follow

How Does Atticus Change In To Kill A Mockingbird
When Jean Louise Scout Finch returns home to Maycomb County Alabama, she never expected

comparatively recently in its history, Maycomb County was so cut off from the rest of the nation
that some of its citizens, unaware of the South s political predilections over the past ninety years,
still voted Republican. (Lee 7). Since Maycomb is so distant from the awareness of certain

Maycomb, Scout wants to question and find out the truth, Yes sir, I m upset about something.

Cultural Factors That Influence Consumer Behavior
There are four main factors that influence the consumer s behavior; cultural, social, personal, and
physiological. These factors determine what the consumer will buy, why they buy an item, and if
they will be a return customer. Culture is a very complex factor that plays a vital role in a
customer s behavior. Culture can be broken down into sub factors such as culture, sub culture,
and social class. Culture impacts every part of our behavior, not specifically our buying trends.
There are habits that are acquire as humans and everyday members of society. Sub culture
influences tend to be a little more powerful because it is narrowed down to our nation, religion,
races, and many more factors. The most powerful sub factor in culture is your social class. Social
class does not always mean, income. Social class indicates more of your surroundings such as

Well you in luck because I have all the information that you need to tell you about the history of

If you ask people. When video games did first came out? Most people would say in the 1970 s
and they would be wrong. In 1958, William A. Higinbotham, an engineer working for the United
States government, came up with first game played on a type of screen. It was a two player

Microchips were invented in the late 1950 s the problem was it only held about ten components,
including transistors which helped control the flow of electricity. In 1974, Intel introduce a chip

In 1975, Atari decided to try and put their game on a system for the home. Even tho the game
system Odyssey had not done well. They partnered up with Sears and released a home version of
Pong. Also for one hundred dollars. Unlike Odyssey the Sears gaming system was a huge success
during the 1975 Christmas season, with sales of more the $40 million.
Atari would be king over the game industries for the next decade. A few companies like RCA and
Fairchild channel F tried to break in during Atari reign but never had much success and phased out.
Nintendo, the company which eventually became a major player in the video gaming industry for
the next three decades, delivered their first series of video game console from 1977 to 1979. The
Color TV Game Series were only for sale in Japan. These consoles essentially followed in the
footsteps of Atari and featured Pong style games.
Once again, there were a few newcomers to the market but they were met with limited success.
Bally Astrocade came about in 1977 and was celebrated for its superior graphic capabilities. For
some reason, it did not last long. Mattel introduced its Intellivision console in 1979, which

Client centred counselling is the believe that the client can solve their own problems, and it is
best practice (Spence Smale, 2015). Carl Rogers believed it is very tempting as counsellors to

allow clients look inwardly (Burnard 1992). I took the client centred approach while working

beliefs and choices. I wanted to know her at a personal level; the client must be willing to admit
having issues, and also the desire to deal with those issues. The therapist must understand his or her

Chris Landreth Documentary
This review will critically analyze and evaluate, Ryan by Chris Landreth and Waltz with Bashir by
Ari Folman, and assess the role of the animated documentaries in the film world. It will explore the
truth and validity in animated documentaries and how each of the films visually portray the key
themes. I will argue that animations can be valid documentaries, due to their focus on the
subjective and unique ways to depict emotion and mental responses.
Animation is derived from the latin word animare, meaning to give life to (Wells, 1998). Animation
is therefore the representation of life, both real and imagined. Animation can express more than just
the physical world (Wells, 1999) therefore making it a unique way to create a documentary.

By using primary evidence to create the films, there is a suggested basis of truth. Each of these
films treat the interviews in different ways. Folman uses the interviews to further his own story
to evoke the memories he has repressed. In contrast, Landreth uses them to reflect more directly
on his own personal experience. This is first seen in Waltz with Bashir through Folman s first
epiphany in which he has his first flashback to the war. Likewise this is first seen in Ryan when
Landreth asks Larking to give up alcohol. The montage of photos that follow Larkin s angry
outburst at this suggestion reveals that Landreth s mother also had an alcohol addiction, which
caused her death. A black substance covers the old photos of Landreth s mother and increases to
cover the photos as as she ages. At this point, we gain greater insight into Landreth s personal
contribution to the story and how it has affected the production of the film. Landreth clearly relates
his own experience of the disease to Larkin s situation. This personal connection is also seen at the
end of the film when Larkin in seen begging on the street. Landreth appears across the street,
looking more abstracted like Larkin. This change in physical appearance indicates a new

Analysis And Synthesis Of The Students At An Elementary...
1. Analyses And Synthesis The student I chose to base my case study on is a 3rd grade student
at an elementary school. For the purpose of this case study, we will call the student Darnell.
Darnell is an 8 year old African American male diagnosed on the autism spectrum. Darnell is the
youngest child; he has another sibling, an older sister who is in the 4th grade. She has not posed
any form of learning or intellectual disability. Darnell s father is a 32 year old engineer and is
divorced from Darnell s mother who shares joint custody of both children. As we all know parents
play a large role throughout their child s various stages of life and development. To better
understand Darnell an interview was conducted with Darnell s father.... Show more content on

During the examination Darnell s father was able to explain to the doctor the concerns he had
regarding his son. He explained that Darnell social interaction was none existent, he did not play
with other children or even his sister. Darnell preferred playing alone in a corner and had
become fixated on one specific toy. When he would play, he focused primarily on one toy even
though he had a toy chest filled with other toys. 2. Diagnosis Darnell showed early signs of
unusual behaviors that were a cause for concern from his father had. At 18 months Darnell
avoided making eye contact with both his parents coupled with not responding to his name when
he was called. Darnell s father expressed his concerns to Darnell s mother who did not agree with
his concerns; she simply stated that Darnell would catch up along with other children his age. As a
result of the couples split Darnell was not given full attention in the matter of his disability, until his
father took the initiative to seek help. Darnell s father sought further assistance by having Darnell
evaluated by a specialist in learning disabilities such as a developmental pediatrician. This doctor
concluded that Darnell had indeed been autistic and ordered for a diagnostic evaluation. This

The Dataset Diabetes Details From Efron Et Al
Individual Project 1
Introduction
This report will cover the dataset diabetes details from Efron et al.(2003). Throughout this report,
we will explore the potential relationship between the ten predictor variables: age, sex, BMI,
average blood pressure, and six blood serum measurements (tc, ldl, hdl, tch, ltg, glu) on a
quantitative measure of disease progression one year after the baseline. There are 442 diabetes
patients, or records in the dataset. In this report, we will explore different methods and cross
validation techniques to understand these sample datasets leveraging linear regression, ridge
regression, lasso method and metrics like our MSE, the mean prediction error and standard errors
of the test dataset. First, we will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the positive coefficients, we will see an increase in one unit of each variable separately
compared with the advancement in diabetes. With a 0.05 parameter, the linear regression model
selects 5 predictor variables with significance, age, tc, ldl, tch, and glu. To validate the
assumption, we can plot the residuals versus the fitted values to see if there are any indications of
signs of random distributions. For the residual plot, we see there are no indications or violations of
random distribution and can calculate the MSE of the model, which is 3111.265. Next, we will
leverage the best subset method to select the predictor variables that are truly impactful to the
model.
Best Subset Model
With our best subset method, we can leverage our lowest BIC metric to select the best model.
We can plot out best subset method and pinpoint the number of variables to select. The plot
below showcases that the lowest point or value of BIC, contains 6 variables. We leverage the
BIC metric because it places a penalty on models with more or many variables. Meaning, the
mode variable a model has, the bigger the penalty. We can review the coefficients, standard errors,
t value, and the p values for the best subset method with the significant six variables. Our MSE
metric for the 6 variable best subset model is 3090.483, a slight decrease from our linear regression
model.

Post Co Op Reflection At The Massachusetts Clean Energy...
Post Co op Reflection
A day after I completed my second cooperative at the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center
(MassCEC), I immediately transitioned to a new position at a startup company called
EnergySage. On my first day at EnergySage, which is an online solar power marketplace that
was created to help consumers learn more about solar and make comparisons between pre
screened solar installers and their quotes, I realized how unique my experience was at MassCEC
and how thankful I was for it. Aside from the distinctive atmosphere of MassCEC, the quasi public
agency treated their co op students as equal contributors to the company s mission and had a
particular focus on providing professional development in exchange for our hard work. Our ... Show

I discovered I had a passion for pursuing a career in the clean energy industry and I wanted to
delve deeper into the various sub sectors to determine where I fit best, which led to the revision
of my ninth goal (see Appendix B) to include the goal of better understanding my desired role in
the clean energy industry and the necessary steps to achieve these ambitions. In addition, I wanted
to enhance my skillset which include interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and
complete the internship with a range of new skills. Through my position, I was fortunate enough
to have many professional development experiences, which led to networking, outreach and
leading and organizing meetings. Perhaps, the biggest lesson of all was how essential building
your network will be to achieving your goals. This led to revision of my seventh goal to include
networking and outreach as the desired skills I received. These two professional goals are
reflective of what I hope to achieve in the future and hence why I took on my current internship.
I truly enjoyed this past co op experience and felt that most aspects were enjoyable, rather than
difficult. What I enjoyed most was the freedom and the trust that was present between my team
and I, as my supervisors often gave me a lot of responsibility and praised me for how I handled it.
Good communication and respect was always present amongst my fellow Innovation and Industry

British And British Culture And Cultural Changes In The...

AP United States History
18 August 2017
Summer Assignment Many groups around the world are culturally and economically altered by
other people and events. Before 1750, the British and the Spanish were infinitely changed because
of their interactions with the Indians of North America. These two groups began exploring the New
World due to the glorified idea that there was an abundance of spices, silk, and wealth. The British
and the Spanish ventured into the New World looking for new land, new goods, and new
beginnings. Initially the Spanish explorers, such as Columbus, Cortes and Onate, made huge
strides in finding a route to the New World. Five years later, the British discovered the New World
five years later. The British encountered many Indian tribes and believed that by distancing
themselves from these tribes, they could create a purely English society in North America. Contrary
to the British, the Spanish enslaved the Indians and ruled over them in order to get what they
wanted. The Spanish attempted to spread their culture and rule the Indians while gaining economic
prosperity from the mined gold and silver. The British, on the other hand, tried isolating their
culture from the Indians while gaining economic prosperity by using the Indians agricultural
assistance. The British were motivated to join this age of exploration because of their desire to
colonize. Before the British could expand and settle into new lands, England needed an internal

Factors Affecting Occupational Stress Essay
Occupational stress is defined as a person s physical and mental reaction to a stressor in the
surrounding environment (Antai Otong 2001). This stressor can occur from the mental or
emotional states, and on the physical activities a person is doing. Occupational stress is one of the
health perils of the present day working environmentin which members are employees. Stress
condition is relative in nature separated from its presence, which an unnecessary stress could be
destructive in numerous terms, rationally and physically though calm anxiety is seen as typical and
it may be brought about attractive accomplishments. Consequently, a few specialists contend that a

Stress can result from other aspects of jobs, such as the physical environment of the job. Extreme
levels of noise, temperature, humidity or illumination causes stress (Mackay Cox 1978). People
experience stress when they have little influence over work procedures or the pace of the work
(Cottington House 1987).
i)Organizational Change
Change is troublesome for an establishment and for its delegates. There is mistrust about what s to
come, about what the acquaintanceship will look like, and how the delegates feel they will fit into
the new structure. While a couple of individuals handle change, most basically recognize it. There
are those, on the other hand, who decrease to change. The following rejection of accommodating
headway puts extended tension on chiefs, accomplices, and the association general. As expressed
by the old adage, most people don t like any change that does not jingle in their pockets. The normal
slant is to restrict it. Yet, in A Survival Guide to the Stress of Organizational Change, the inventors
state, restricting change is a standout amongst the most ordinary purposes behind strain at work
(Pritchett and Pound 1995). Specialists normally get repulsive all around times of organizational
change because of the dubiousness change causes. They question their abilities to perform in a dark
future. There is a slant to leave what

Mermaid Research Papers
Mermaids are legends that have been among us for years; moreover, to understand the legends,
one must look at their history, their mystical powers and their distinct descriptions. Mermaids,
Mermen, and Merbabys are making more of an appearance in our waters than they ever have.
These mystical creatures are swimming back into our world. Mermaids originated from aquatic
ape s years ago when dinosaurs still roamed our earth. As Tim Chaffey stated, Our supposed ape

Mermaid s eyes could potentially dry out and they would be blinded for over 50% of their lives.

Without these aquatic respiratory system mermaids wouldn t be able to breath underwater or stay

Mermaids also have a heart, lungs, and all other anatomy that a human has, but their body can
survive the intake of great amounts of water. Unlike humans, mermaids use their outrageous bodily

Student s Transition Into Elementary School Essay
A student s transition into elementary school marks a unique gateway into formal schooling that is
encumbered with new demands and susceptible to new influences. Within the past few decades,
researchers have used students school transitions as a context to examine the influence of student
teacher relationships (e.g., Birch Ladd, 1997; Ewing Taylor, 2009; Pianta Stuhlman, 2004). The
quality of these dyadic relationships is an important platform through which teachers instruct
students and students acquire multifaceted knowledge from their teachers (Pianta, 1999).
Researchers suggest that certain aspects of student teacher relationships support and regulate
students development, particularly during the early years (Pianta, 1999). Although these aspects
include teachers instruction (e.g., explicit, systematic, etc.), they also include features of the
classroom environment, such as teachers sensitivity and warmth, responsiveness, and verbal
engagement (Downer, Sabol, Hamre, 2010). When combinations of high quality and supportive
instruction are embedded within students learning, students are able to interact constructively with
their teachers and peers (Gallagher, Kainz, Vernon Feagans, White, 2013). More importantly,
aspects of instructional and classroom environment encourage students to capitalize on available
learning opportunities and to adjust to the expectations of formal schooling (Howes, Phillipsen,
Peisner Feinberg, 2000). Components of

Millet s Impact On The Ancient World
Millet is a crop that has a lot of health benefits, has protein, lasts a long time, matures quickly, and
can grow in dry environments with poor soil. For some civilizations in Africa, East Asia, India,
and Europe, this was a perfect crop. Starting in 8,000 BCE, millet quickly spread around Africa
and the Eurasian supercontinent, becoming one of the most commonly eaten grains in the
world. India alone produces over 8 million tons of millet yearly. There is no denying that millet
had a huge impact on civilizations of the ancient world that still affects us to this day. Millet is a
grain that has many variations, but all of them have many of the same characteristics. Millet is
high in protein, fiber, and B vitamins. It was very filling, and needs very little water and fertile
soil to grow. It is also gluten free, which has increased its popularity recently. Protein made it
filling, so you didn t need a lot of it per meal, which also increased the abundance. 10,000 years
ago, broomtail millet (Panicum miliaceum) became domesticated in North China. This area was
cold and dry, so it was perfect for millet, which thrives at an average of 6 10в„ѓ and a mean annual

Millet s ability to grow in poor soil, heat, and dry environments made it possible for civilizations to
appear in places where other crops can t grow. Millet provided a food source for civilizations when
they went into periods of drought or famine, saving many civilizations from ruin. Millet also
provided food surplus for civilizations that could not be as complex without it. Without millet, we
could not have spread so far around the world as early as we did, or form such complex
civilizations as early. Without millet, we might still be forming complex civilizations, still figuring
out technology, still having trouble populating areas with dry, infertile

Challenges In Memphis
I am young man that works at a restaurant in Memphis. I don t like the job because they over
work me for minimum wage. I m 17. I m a senior at City University School. My plan is to go to
college and major in accounting. I live with both of my parents and my sister. I grew up around
violence, gangs, drugs, and things of that nature. Memphis is a pretty crazy place. Anyways, I
completed a couple of challenges. These challenges just popped in my brain.
In the beginning of middle school, I was a chubby kid. I had a hard time my first in middle school.
Girls didn t like me and I didn t have a lot of friends. A lot of people used to make fun of me. One
of the coaches asked me to play football, so I went to the doctor and got a physical. I m glad ...

This is the year when the females started to like me. I wasn t fat anymore. I wanted to start back
playing football, so I could gain some muscle. I didn t want to play for another school. Since I
wanted muscles, I started to lift weights and started to do push ups, tricep dips, and sit ups. After
a while I stopped doing sit ups because they got boring. I just started to work on my arms, my
back, and my chest. My muscle tone started to show more by the end of the summer before the
11th grade. My 11th grade year, I did push at least 120 200 push ups almost every day. Then I
heard that if you want to gain muscle, you have to eat bigger food portions. After I heard that, I
got my appetite back. I ran on the treadmill and lifted weights every now and then. I was just
focused on gaining muscle. After I while, I received a job. I started to get lazy. I was just
keeping up with my grades and going to work. I would only do push ups on my off days and I
wouldn t do that many. I just did enough for me to keep my tone. If you read this whole statement,
you would know what challenges I ve completed. They require hustle and patience. It also takes
heart because you can t just quit. You have to keep

The Health System As A Social Insurance System Essay
France is a European country with a population of approximately 66 million, which makes it the
second most populated country in Europe (Chevreul, Berg Brigham, Durand Zaleski, HernГЎndez
Quevedo, 2015). The average life expectancy at birth for the country is 82 years. Cancer and
cardiovascular disease are among the top causes of death in France (World Health Organization,
2015). Smoking and alcohol are the main causes of avoidable mortality. Overall, the level of health
in the French population is good (Chevreul, Berg Brigham, Durand Zaleski, HernГЎndez Quevedo,
2015). The health system is a social insurance system that is based on a combination of Statutory
Health Insurance (SHI) and volunteer health insurance. SHI is for the resident population.
Funding for SHI comes from income based contributions of employees and employers and from
tax on tobacco, alcohol, and pharmaceutical companies. This type of public financing is high in
France; therefore out of pocket spending is low. Because of a rapid growth in health care
expenses, over 75 percent of health care expenses are funded through SHI (Chevreul, Berg
Brigham, Durand Zaleski, HernГЎndez Quevedo, 2015). Coverage is universal and includes
hospital and outpatient care (both general and specialist), rehabilitation services, medications, and
medical appliances (Durand Zaleski, 2015). Volunteer health insurance has helped improve
inequalities in access to and financing of health care. This type of

  • 2. Similarities Between Utopia And Dystopian Society What do you know about a Utopian and Dystopian society? Some people may think that a Utopian society such as ВЁThe GiverВЁ society is more significant because the society has control and equality but why? The society that is proclaimed to be perfect isnВґt so perfect after all. The Giver society and our society today have many things that are different such as leadership, freedom, and laws. But also have some things in common. The Givers society and the society we live in today have differences but also similarities such as who is the leader or figurehead in the community. The leader in our society is the President. The President approves or vetoВґs the laws that the branches of government make. But in ВЁThe GiverВЁ the figurehead is The Chief ... • 3. Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham Kabhi Kushi Kabhie Gham synopsis: Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham It s All About Loving Your Parents. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is a lavish movie that deals with the issues of class distinction and the roles of women and men in marriage. It opens with a grown Rohan (Hrithik Roshan) finishing his boarding school education and returning to visit his grandmothers before he goes home for Diwali. His grandmothers, haunted by the memory of Rohan s estranged brother, Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan), sit Rohan down, and in their grief, tell him the story of his family. Yashvardhan Raichand (Amitabh Bachchan) is a famous, wealthy Indian businessman. He and his wife Nandini (Jaya Badhuri) adopted a baby, Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan), and raised him as their own. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Nandini reminds Yash to calm down a little, he starts to sing her an old filmi song to placate her. When he forgets the words, Anjali blurts them out. Rukhsar and Daijaan are appalled at Anjali s rudeness to both an elder and a social superior, and hasten her out of the party. On catching sight of Rahul, Anjali is so distracted she bumps into a vase and smashes it. In complete disgrace, she leaves the party. The next day Daijaan brings Anjali by to apologize to Yash for breaking his pot, as Anjali calls it, not knowing any better. Anjali makes her apology in her own unique way, interrupted not a few times by Rahul, who, on seeing his love again, creates mischief behind his father s back. Hilarity ensues, and on hearing she has been forgiven, Anjali turns to go, rather less decorously than is proper, and in the process, smashes another pot. Daijaan rushes her away, and Rahul is left leaning against the doorframe, completely lovestruck. On hearing of her sister s humiliation at Rohan s school, Anjali is outraged, and lectures both her sister and her father on the social ineptitude of rich people, saying, too much money, too little heart. She vows to seek revenge, and as she backs up to go out the door, she bumps directly into Rahul, who has brought Rohan to apologize. Rahul also asks for Anjali s friendship, and the next day calls up her shop. Anjali answers, saying the shop has sweets for all occasions, including engagements and weddings, to which ... • 4. Essay On Tattoos And Tattoos Discrimination and Tattoos In the past, people used to see people with tattoos as lacking in character and work ethic. In light of the growing popularity of tattoos in the modern age, people s opinions have stayed away from that. While the United Kingdom may not be as well known for heavily tattooed people as other countries in the world, the popularity in the United Kingdom is growing. Tattoos do not affect a person s character or work ethic; therefore, should not be discriminated against in the United Kingdom. When most people see a person that is heavily tattooed, they do not see the typical hard working family man. They see an inked up delinquent or a drug addict. What they do not think about is that many people love to express... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the United Kingdom, there are no laws protecting employees from employer discrimination on the sole basis of body art. During the hiring process, employers can have the most qualified applicant possible with tattoos, but under current United Kingdom law, they can hire a less qualified person who has no tattoos. This practice is completely legal without being considered a form of discrimination. Employers in the United Kingdom stigmatize tattooed applicants and/or employees work ethic, believing that they will not work as hard and send a negative image to their clients (Michael). This kind of discrimination is unjust and unethical. The only way a person can challenge this type of discrimination is if they are directly religious and even then, the employee would have to go through a strenuous process of actually proving it has direct religious ties. With the popularity of tattoos in the United Kingdom growing rapidly, many employers are being forced to cut back on their prejudicial opinions of tattoos. According to the BBC, roughly twenty percent of the United Kingdom s population has at least one tattoo. Among young adults, the numbers rise to roughly thirty three percent (Kelly). Some companies will tolerate tattoos with the exception of above the neck and hand tattoos, which are completely understandable in an interpersonal business that involves customer service. Still, the problem lies in the professions where employees do not make direct ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Francois Rabelais And Thomas More Dystopia The word utopia descended from a Greek word meaning no place and today is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as an imagined or hypothetical place, system, or state of existence in which everything is perfect, especially in respect of social structure, laws and politics (). Both Francois Rabelais and Thomas More describes the Utopic world to depict the ideal human society, however, both texts describe a society in which dystopian features are extremely emphasized. This shows that there is a thin line between an orderly society and a repressive dystopian one. Historically, Utopiahas been considered by its values of egalitarianism: it has no class divisions; people have economic freedom and stability, and have free will and lastly,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thomas More offers a highly ordered society. ....one occupation at which everyone works, ... trained in it from childhood... (). People are working in agriculture, which they practice from childhood. This means that no one is really offered the opportunity of individual expression and practice what they want. And furthermore, if these people want to learn another trade, he or she requires a permission. Commonsense permission clearly means that these people have no free will. Moreover, despite the abundance of everything everyone is wearing the same thing. And if a person want to visit a friend or wants to travel just to discover a new place, he or she requires a permission. Thus, although the opportunities to have everything and travel around, no one use can benefit from those opportunities. This simply shows that people are without free will and obliged to a highly ordered system. In Abbey of Theleme, on the other hand, it seems initially that people have their free will and can govern their lives as they wish to. Rabelais says ...their lives were not ordered and governed by laws and statutes and rules, but according to their own free will... (). He demonstrates that women and men of Theleme governed their lives, got up when they wish and worked when feel like. In other words, there were no obligations. Commonsense no obligations mean free will. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This article is Child resilience in out of home care: Child welfare worker perspectives. The authors chose to interview child service workers to discover any missed information, since most other studies on this topic have focused on interviewing the children, foster parents, and the childwelfare system as a whole. They decided to study children in out of home care because they often experience mistreatment consequently, their resilience, or lack thereof, may be more easily detected. • 7. The Balance Between Environmental Risk And Economic Benefit THE BALANCE BETWEEN ENVIRONMENTAL RISK AND ECONOMIC BENEFIT: TRANSCANADA S ENERGY EAST PIPELINE Canada is well known for having one of the world s largest oil reserves. But did you know that Canada also has the third largest total length of pipelines (CIA, n.d.)? Why would anyone want to add on to that already vast network? However, that is what TransCanada and many other pipeline corporations propose we do. In this essay, I am going to analyze the recent conversation surrounding the proposed creation of TransCanada s Energy East pipeline. TransCanada s Energy East pipeline would take crude oil from Alberta s oil sands and transport it across the country to a refinery in Saint John, New Brunswick. Some of the oil would then be loaded onto marine tankers in Saint John and shipped overseas to Asian markets. With a construction cost of around $15.7 billion, Energy East would become North America s largest oil pipeline, capable of carrying 1.1 million barrels of oil per day (TransCanada, 2016). This would make a significant impact on Canada s economy, as the pipeline is expected to create thousands of jobs and increase Canada s gross domestic product by $55 billion (TransCanada, 2016). Furthermore, it may reduce energy prices in Atlantic Canada, as they would no longer have to pay the premium for foreign resources (Canadian Press, 2016). However, recently there has been a strong opposition to the pipeline especially in Montreal and the surrounding region. The mayor of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Bomb Calorimeter Experiment Discussion: As can be seen in graph 1 that is above, the results in the graph indicates that the practical was inaccurate. This is because that there was a great amount difference between the true nutritional value of the three foods in the practical, then the actual calculated energy value from all the class results. The energy in the true nutritional value on each of the food packets were in the thousands per 100g compared to the class energy, as they were in the hundreds. Accuracy: From all the analysation of results for the three foods that was tested in the practical, it was easy to say that the results were not accurate. As seen in the graph 1 above, the true value for popcorn is 1910kJ, cheese and bacon is 2270kJ and macadamia is 3040kJ. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bomb calorimeter is a device that measures the amount of heat that flows in a chemical reaction. How the bomb calorimeter works is that the food space gets filled with oxygen, the water space fascinates the heat released by the food, then the thermometer measures the water temperature as it gets increased and the ignition wire burns the food inside the bomb calorimeter. The bomb calorimeter prevents heat loss because of the air space and the insulating jacket (McGraw Hill, 2016). By using a bomb calorimeter the errors of heat loss would not have occurred because a bomb calorimeter reduces all errors like systematic and random. Diagram 1 Diagram of the bomb calorimeter Conclusion: The prediction which was believed that the class average energy for popcorn, cheese and bacon balls and macadamia will not match the true nutritional value which proved to be true and was supported. Analysing all the systematic and random errors that occurred in this practical, it shows that it made a huge difference in the final results between the class average and the true value. So that makes this practical inaccurate and completely unreliable proves the prediction correct. Safety: Safety glasses must be worn at all times to prevent any damage to the eyes because the practical involves fire and hot water. • 9. Hockey Is The Most Elite Level Of Hockey The National Hockey League, also known as the NHL, is the most elite level of hockey in the world. With seven teams playing in Canada, the sport s country of origin, and twenty three teams in the United States, hockey has become a favorite sport to watch globally. Hockey is full of high speed, agility, skill, and is widely famous for its violence. Fans love and adore the sport for its glorification of fighting, or best known in hockey as fisticuffs. Before the NHL was founded in 1917, fighting had already been a strong and defining characteristic of the sport. Adam Proteau of The Hockey News wrote an article on the history of fighting; fisticuffs credit its roots back as far as the late 1800s. Proteau continues with, originally, fighting in hockey was frowned upon and looked at by the media as classless and unnecessary. Proteau also states, ironically, with the media making fighting such a big deal, it actually, in turn, created more fans and increased attendance during the hockey games (Proteau). More recently, fighting has become a very controversial issue in the NHL. Veteran players, sports journalists and physicians have argued against the physicality and necessity of fighting and the dangers that ensue. Like the National Football League (NFL), the NHL has been scrutinized and plagued with a plethora of player concussions, and even deaths, which, recently, has sparked a strong debate on whether or not fighting should be banned in the NHL. • 10. Terrorism Between Terrorism And Terrorism Question ‐ What trends are evident in terrorism over the past 5 years? How have these trends impacted on the ways in which counter terrorism has responded in the Australian context? Introduction Terrorism poses a serious security challenge to the Australia and globally as it prevalence has increased over a decade although less attacks occur in the Western nations. The purpose of this assignment is to examine what trends and terrorist tactics are evident internationally over the past 5 years and how Australia responded to these trends. Definition To have an understanding of the trends in international terrorism, it is essential to have an understanding of the meaning of the term terrorism. There are hundreds of proposed definitions of terrorism and researchers, experts, security professionals, NGOs, etc have adopted their own definition. In covering the trends and responses, the assignment also examines the debate over a definition of terrorism that distinguishes acts of terrorism from criminal acts. One of the definitions that the international communities had agreed when violence is used for political objectives is as follows; Terrorism is the deliberate use of violence aimed against civilians in order to achieve political goals (nationalistic, socioeconomic, ideological, religious, etc.) . It is important to note that this framework is not for regular criminal activity, which warrants the application of criminal legal norms (Boaz Ganor, pp 11 42, 27 May 2009). ... Instead one can argue that labor markets in the US are overall competitive. Currently the total number of tigers worldwide is calculated at fewer than 3,500. (Fraser) The population has dramatically dropped; the main reason is the healing powers of the tiger bone. The beautiful and beneficial species for decades have been killed for their bones and skin. There are many different tiger subspecies such as: Amur tiger, Bengal tiger, Siberian tiger, Sumatran tigers and many more, unfortunately today there are only a few subspecies left. The high demand for the bones and skins of tigers have not yet settled down, the black market continuously hunts the unprotected animals. Although the issue is global, it has been unknowingly neglected from the modern society. Many believe that the species are not endangered when they visit a zoo, but the information states otherwise. The wild tigers are decreasing in numbers, and some predict that in no time the species will be extinct. The lack of information one withholds, prevents them from helping and improving the living conditions of wild tigers. In order to increase the population of endangered tigers, we should use social media to raise awareness of the current extinction rate and in correlation with the Government create a protection plan, regarding their territory and for those who do harm the animals, will face serious consequences. Programmatic symphonies occurred primarily in the late Romantic and Classical period. Haitink s traversal of the Pastoral is a fine achievement, established on tempi that strike the viewers. On the first movement, he takes it at a flowing, warm tempo. The Orchestra plays radiantly for him. The played symphony has a nice, firm bass line, revealingly enriched at intervals by the horns, and its attention to dynamics is meticulous throughout the whole symphony. The first movement ends in such a way that, the symphony can be heard as a wonderfully civilized and wise account of the performance. The second movement is designed beautifully. Once again the tempo is skillfully chosen. The woodwinds and the strings afford Haitink some fine playing and there are several lovely woodwind solos for the audience to enjoy. The third movement is lithe and light this is a joyful and well sprung dance. The subsequent storm is exciting, featuring some thrilling strikes on the timpani. The finale brings an excellent summary of the performance. In Haitink s experienced hands, the symphony is serene, displaying an inner radiance and warmth. This shattering was most likely due to the repeated use of the same tube for the extraction. Because liquid CO2 induces a cold environment, and when a material, particularly plastic, is exposed to repeated cycles of freezing and thawing the material will become more brittle. Plastic is usually good at containing high pressures, but if the material were to become brittle it would lose this ability and become fracture sensitive. Nowadays, technologies such as X Rays, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and ultrasound are used everyday for medical analysis. X Rays are very useful because they can penetrate through different materials to give an image of the interior of the body. MRI use strong magnets to create an image of a body part, while ultrasound imaging uses sound waves. Bone, muscle and fat absorb x rays at different levels, so the screen lets see different structures of the body because the different levels of exposure are in different shades of gray. The main component of an x ray machine is a vacuum tube with a cathode or filaments and an anode, which is usually made of tungsten, a hard steel gray metal used to make electric light filaments. Electric current passes through the filament, raising its temperature. Once it reaches a certain level of energy, the filament starts emitting negatively charged electrons. These electrons are attracted with great force from the positively tungsten anode, taking them through the vacuum tube at very high speed. In one of the atom s lower orbital an electron gets knocked away when the anode collides with electrons. An electron from the higher orbital takes place of the removed electron, releasing energy as an X ray photon. Chris Landreth Documentary This review will critically analyze and evaluate, Ryan by Chris Landreth and Waltz with Bashir by Ari Folman, and assess the role of the animated documentaries in the film world. It will explore the truth and validity in animated documentaries and how each of the films visually portray the key themes. I will argue that animations can be valid documentaries, due to their focus on the subjective and unique ways to depict emotion and mental responses. Animation is derived from the latin word animare, meaning to give life to (Wells, 1998). Animation is therefore the representation of life, both real and imagined. Animation can express more than just the physical world (Wells, 1999) therefore making it a unique way to create a documentary. Animated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By using primary evidence to create the films, there is a suggested basis of truth. Each of these films treat the interviews in different ways. Folman uses the interviews to further his own story to evoke the memories he has repressed. In contrast, Landreth uses them to reflect more directly on his own personal experience. This is first seen in Waltz with Bashir through Folman s first epiphany in which he has his first flashback to the war. Likewise this is first seen in Ryan when Landreth asks Larking to give up alcohol. The montage of photos that follow Larkin s angry outburst at this suggestion reveals that Landreth s mother also had an alcohol addiction, which caused her death. A black substance covers the old photos of Landreth s mother and increases to cover the photos as as she ages. At this point, we gain greater insight into Landreth s personal contribution to the story and how it has affected the production of the film. Landreth clearly relates his own experience of the disease to Larkin s situation. This personal connection is also seen at the end of the film when Larkin in seen begging on the street. These two groups began exploring the New World due to the glorified idea that there was an abundance of spices, silk, and wealth. The British and the Spanish ventured into the New World looking for new land, new goods, and new beginnings. Initially the Spanish explorers, such as Columbus, Cortes and Onate, made huge strides in finding a route to the New World. Five years later, the British discovered the New World five years later. The British encountered many Indian tribes and believed that by distancing themselves from these tribes, they could create a purely English society in North America. Contrary to the British, the Spanish enslaved the Indians and ruled over them in order to get what they wanted. The Spanish attempted to spread their culture and rule the Indians while gaining economic prosperity from the mined gold and silver. The British, on the other hand, tried isolating their culture from the Indians while gaining economic prosperity by using the Indians agricultural assistance. • 49. Student s Transition Into Elementary School Essay A student s transition into elementary school marks a unique gateway into formal schooling that is encumbered with new demands and susceptible to new influences. Within the past few decades, researchers have used students school transitions as a context to examine the influence of student teacher relationships (e.g., Birch Ladd, 1997; Ewing Taylor, 2009; Pianta Stuhlman, 2004). The quality of these dyadic relationships is an important platform through which teachers instruct students and students acquire multifaceted knowledge from their teachers (Pianta, 1999). Researchers suggest that certain aspects of student teacher relationships support and regulate students development, particularly during the early years (Pianta, 1999). Although these aspects include teachers instruction (e.g., explicit, systematic, etc.), they also include features of the classroom environment, such as teachers sensitivity and warmth, responsiveness, and verbal engagement (Downer, Sabol, Hamre, 2010). When combinations of high quality and supportive instruction are embedded within students learning, students are able to interact constructively with their teachers and peers (Gallagher, Kainz, Vernon Feagans, White, 2013). The average life expectancy at birth for the country is 82 years. Cancer and cardiovascular disease are among the top causes of death in France (World Health Organization, 2015).
