Why Germany Lost the First World War
Why Germany lost the First World War
The First World War ended with the triple entente as victorious (with help from the Americans).
Some reasons to why the allies won the war were because of; Germany had to fight a war on two
fronts, the unstable political situation in Germany, the allied naval blockade, German economy,
failure of the schlieffen plan, interception of the Zimmerman telegram, the German naval blockade
on Britain (sinking of American ships), development of the tank and anti submarine weapons, the
advancement of new technology that required new tactics.
The Naval blockade
The British blockade was a key factor in the defeat of Germany. Starved of supplies, the German
army was weakened and the German people lost some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This led to trench warfare. The Germans were not prepared to do this type of war, they did not
have the resources to do this due to the british naval blockade. Concerning the Schleiffen plan there
were a few severe miscalculations that led to gargantuan problems, the Germans had miscalculated
the amount of soldiers, supplies and communication that required to be transported across the
country from east to west and back. This miscalculation was not expected due to Germany thinking
that Russia would be slow to mobilize and thereby give Germany time to first beat the French then
later turn all their forces towards the east to face Russia.
Weak Allies
Germany had chosen her allies badly, they had allied themselves to the decaying Austrian Empire,
Ottoman Empire and Italy. Germany had chosen badly when relying on Italy to help out in the war
since as soon as war was declared Italy pulled out of the alliance. Also Germany had to constantly
assist the Austrian Empire in protecting their own territory. This led to problems as this exhausted
troops that would and should have been sent to fight the war in the trenches. Germany also sent
supplies that should have been sent to the soldiers fighting on the front line. If Germany had
stronger and more reliable allies then the outcome of the war would have been different.
Political Unrest
As the war went on and millions died Germany s censored propaganda released only tales of
glorious combat and

Martin Luther And The Protestant Reformation
In the early days of November 10, 1483, Martin Luther was born in Eisleben, Saxony, in modern
southeast Germany and it was an extremely tense world. But on the other hand great changes were
waiting around the corner, and Luther too, would take a part in these changes.
On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther, angry with Pope Leo X s new round of indulgences to help
build St. Peter s Basilica, nailed a sheet of paper with his 95 Theses on the University of
Wittenberg s chapel door. Martin Luther was a German monk who began the Protestant Reformation
in the 16th century, becoming one of the most influential and controversial figures in Christian
history. Luther called into question some of the basic tenets of Roman Catholicism, and his
followers soon split from the Roman Catholic Church to begin the Protestant tradition.
The first few years of monastic life were difficult for Martin Luther, as he did not find the religious
enlightenment he was seeking. A mentor told him to focus his life exclusively on Christ and this
would later provide him with the guidance he sought.
At age 27, Luther was given the opportunity to be a delegate to a Catholic church conference in
Rome. He came away more disillusioned, and very discouraged by the immorality and corruption
he witnessed there among the Catholic priests. Upon his return to Germany, he enrolled in the
University of Wittenberg in an attempt to suppress his spiritual turmoil. He excelled in his studies
and received a doctorate,

Gothic Architecture In Europe s Influence On English...
1INTRODUCTION
Originating in France, which had an even greater impact on English architecture than in previous
centuries, the Gothic style is an era of European architecture and art, starting 1140 and lasting until
the mid 16th century. It is the epoch between Romanesque and Renaissance and heavily makes use
of imagery as well as allegory.
In architecture, the Early, High and Late Gothic periods are distinguished. Depending on
surroundings and time, these periods have developed differently.
Vast cathedrals and churches but also a few domestic buildings provide the strongest representation
of Gothic architectural style (Wikipedia contributors, 2017a).
1.1ORIGIN OF THE TERM GOTHIC
The term Gothic originally was a swearword (meaning: barbaric, unfamiliar) which the Italian art
theorist Giorgio Vasari wanted to express his disregard of Gothic art in relation to antiquity. Gothic
architecture was called opus francigenum which means French Style (Wikipedia contributors,
2017a).
1.2DEVELOPMENT OF THE GOTHIC ARCHITECTURAL STYLE
Gothic represented a break with the past which is expressed by getting rid of massive wall
constructions, an emphasis on views and diagonal lines. This style of architecture with its new
elements made buildings seem like or inspired by a skeleton which is a first and has not been
practiced in ancient as well as medieval architecture (Watkin, 2015a).
Gothic architecture draws on basics of Romanesque s technologically developed art of construction

The Great Gatsby A Great Person Essay
For someone to be truly great they need to make sacrifices to become successful. Anyone can be
great at something, but to be great at everything is a much more difficult feat to accomplish. The
Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is a famous novel taking place in the flapper days.
J. Gatsby, a main character, is in love with a wealthy girl named Daisy. No matter how great
Gatsby becomes he is unable to fulfill his dream of being with Daisy. However, because Gatsby
couldn t be with Daisy, he made himself become as great as a person can become. Gatsby turned
himself into a gentleman, took himself from dirt poor to one of the richest men at the time, and
he did it all with his motivation. Some suggest that Gatsby was not a great person because he
was involved in illegal practices such as bootlegging. But in fact, bootlegging made him a great
person because he was able to use the money that he made for good causes and he was also a fair
person. He was extremely intelligent and understood how to be of help to others through his
illegal activities. Greatness can often be seen by how wealthy one is; Gatsby was one of the
most wealthy men of the time. Gatsby s mansion was described by having, a tower one one side,
spanking new under a thin beard of raw ivy, and a marble swimming pool, and more than forty
acres of lawn and garden. (5).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He smiled understandingly much more than understandingly. It was one of those rare smiles
with a quality of eternal reassurance in it that you may come across 4 or 5 times in life. (48).
Through smiles one can tell whether or not to trust the person. Smiles can make you look like a
predator or they can be as wonderful as Gatsby s where one can feel happier by just looking at
him. Gatsby had such polite manners that he excused himself with a small bow that included each
of us in turn. (48). He was always a gentleman, one can even see that from his exiting from a

Declaration Of Sentiments Rhetorical Analysis
The opening paragraph of Elizabeth Cady Stanton s Declaration of Sentiments, which narrates,
When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary..., (Stanton 1), along with the title itself
reveals a connection to Thomas Jefferson s Declaration of Independence. Elizabeth Cady Stanton
wrote the declaration after being excluded from the World Anti Slavery convention, much like how
the colonists were excluded from British Parliament. Declaration of Sentimentslists the grievances
of women, which is another similarly to Jefferson s Declaration of Independence where he lists the
grievances of the colonists. Stanton introduced her Declaration of Sentiments at the Seneca Falls
Convention, which further conveys similarity to Jefferson s Declaration of Independence as his
Declaration of Independence was introduced at the Second Continental Congress. Stanton,
modeling her Declaration of Sentiments after Jefferson s Declaration of Independence, uses
anaphora, the rhetorical triangle, allusions, personification, and harsh diction to achieve her effect
of inspiring change to the benefit of women in society, similar to how Thomas Jefferson inspired
change in the colonies through his Declaration of Independence. In order to emphasize and
organize her points about the grievances of women in Declaration of Sentiments, Stanton uses
anaphora in like manner to the way Jefferson uses it in Declaration of Independence. In most of
Stanton s paragraphs between lines 28 and 70 of her

Ruining Dolphins
Human activities are ruining the existence of dolphins. Humans are not just killing one of the
smartest animals but ruining parts of the life cycle. They need to clean up after fishing, keep the
greenhouse gases under control, and not hunt for them for a food source. Humans need to do
something good for all life on earth and its time to start now.
Dolphin are on the brink of extinction due to entanglement in fishing gear ( Dolphin Threats ).
When dolphins get stuck in these nets they become immobile and end up drowning because they
can t reach the surface to breath. If these mammals get stuck in one and are able to move it can

As ocean temperatures rise from climate change, prey populations can be affected
( Impact of Climate Change on Whales ).
This means what they eat will be harder for them to find. So when they try to find food it will use
up there energy and there food supply will not make up for it . Climate change also ruins the way
they migrate. Climate throws off the currents that they follow. This means it makes it harder for
them to find a way to migrate. These dolphins are getting there habitat destructed by just humans
ruining the climate by releasing greenhouse gases. Humans do not realize what they are putting into
the environment which is killing off species of dolphins and other marine animals.
Dolphins are being used as a food source. These animals are being killed off because people think
they are a food source. It doesn t just kill dolphins but kills humans. Dolphins have mercury in
their skin which is very toxic to the human body and can cause memory loss, seizures and even
death ( The Dangers of Eating Dolphin Meat ). when consumed . As a result of dolphins being
hunted there has been a huge decrease in their population. Humans are killing a species of a marine

Symbolism In Alley By The Lake By Leonid Afremov
Differences Do Not Define Relationships
In Alley by The Lake by Leonid Afremov the most prominent technique that he uses is symbolism.
He uses this to help his viewers see the perspective that he sees. He uses different approaches that
the viewer sees subconsciously, one major approach is through his use of color. These properties
procure an attachment to the couple that is the focal point of the piece. In Alley by The Lake
Leonid Afremov depicts the harmony of a couple s relationship and personalities symbolically
through well picked objects specifically the couple, the trees, and the lights.
Avremov uses the cool colored man and the warm colored woman to grab and pull the
corresponding colors schemes together in the center through the couple. The settings on either
side of the painting stick to their specific color scheme. When Afremov swaps the trend in the
center of the painting it creates the focal point. The couple has a man depicting the dark color
on the left side of the painting instead of the right. This is where all the other dark blue colors
are at in the painting. The same pattern is followed for the woman, she finds herself on the cool
side of the painting instead of the warm side which corresponds with the color shown on her
dress. This ties the people to their corresponding colors. It also helps depict their personalities
through the corresponding colors. Like the woman having the orange red color and it being
connected to the idea of her personality being outgoing and friendly. This is proven by her
connection with the abundant trees and lights. There is also a connection with the dark colors
on the man and the right side of the painting. This connection is that the dark colors create an
idea that he is sad and depressed. This is depicted through not only the colors but also through
the sole dying tree and the lights. It also gives the idea that even though these two people are
different in their personalities and lives, they somehow found a way to connect to each other.
These connections are seen in the actions they display towards one another. They are close
together as well as linking arms. This gives the viewer a picture of how close they are because of
their physical positions. They are

What I Would Never Have Believed That Concepts From Economics
Prior to writing this, I would never have believed that concepts from economics would have fit into
my decisions in course selections. But, now looking at the individual concepts and what they really
entail, it makes perfect sense.
As a sophomore picking out classes, I had free choice whether to enter the CP course, the Honors
course or the AP course. The only reason why I was able to choose between these three courses
was because of my grades. This is similar to the concept of barriers to entry in economics; the
students are the new firms, the courses are the industries, and the different grades are the actual
barrier into the courses. During sophomore year, I maintained an average grade in the honors
history course of higher than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, some of the benefits included more credit, a more interesting topic, and learning
more. On the other hand, the costs included more time dedicated, a harder course, and the AP
test. These costs were of a lesser importance than the benefits were, plus, the AP test could be
beneficial. By using this concept, I determined that taking the AP course did benefit me more in
the long run than taking the honors course. One of the major benefits that I looked at was
whether taking this course would help benefit me in the long run. I used the concept of human
capital , thinking that with this course and my other collective knowledge that I would gather
from other classes, I was preparing myself to be a well rounded student and so possibly more
successful in the future. In taking the AP course, I would learn a slightly different topic than the
Honors or CP classes, and at a higher level of difficulty. I would definitely learn the topic and
broaden my knowledge, but I would also learn more skills, like managing time wisely and
different studying skills for a harder course. On the other hand, the costs of taking the AP course
was like the concept of opportunity cost , the things I had to give up in order to take the course.
For one, I would have to give up taking an easier course, and perhaps a better grade, if I opted to
take the AP course. I would also have to give up more of my time to prepare for the course, hence
eliminating

The assistance program was entirely funded by the state s revenue. Low income seniors in the
state of Illinois can now access any drug covered by the Medicaid with copayments and other
cost sharing programs. States offering Subsidies for private coverage Proponents of subsidies
for private coverage have always argued that the best solution to the seniors coverage of
prescription drugs is helping the seniors to have private coverages by making it more affordable
through subsidies. In 1999, Nevada tried this approach, although it was faced by myriad of
problems in its implementation making the legislation to be changed two years later. The state
offers subsidies to the tune of 100% of the drug coverage premium to the eligible seniors.

application with supporting documents to give evidence of both financial and medical needs. The
process is complicated for low income seniors who take different drugs from different
manufacturers. Every manufacturer has their own way of application process this makes it even

Alexander Hamilton Contributions
The final years of his life were riddled with tragedy and pain, his death becoming the most famous
duel in American history. Born between 1755 and 1757 and orphaned at a young age, Alexander
Hamilton climbed the social ranks from a poor immigrant born in the small Caribbean island of
Nevis, to one of the most prominent founding fathers of America. Through several scandals and the
harsh criticisms of his enemies, Hamilton made incredibly important contributions to American
history. He was instrumental in the ratification of the United States Constitution, the establishment
of a national bank, and the formation of a two party system (Federalists and Democratic
Republicans), and was also the first Secretary of Treasury in American history.
One of Hamilton s first friends and mortal enemy, Aaron Burrwas nearly the complete opposite of
him. He was born to a wealthy family from New Jersey in 1756. As intellectually gifted as
Hamilton, he graduated from the College of New Jersey (now known as Princeton) when he was
17. They were good friends for a while, until their friendship was torn apart by their conflicting
political pursuits.

Summary OfThe Starthorn Tree By Lady Lisandre Ziv Estaria
Within the early chapters of The Starthorn Tree, authored by Kate Forsyth, Lady Lisandre Ziv
Estaria is portrayed as a vain, yet somewhat audacious stricken youth, that displays little concept
of life outside the walls of the Castle of Estelliana. Lisandre assumes an attitude of superiority
towards those of the heathen, believing them to be inferior to those of her kindred. Throughout
the preliminary stages of the novel, Lisandre constantly reasserts her status. Shortly after taking
refuse at Pedrin and Durrik s campsite, accompanied by her mistress Briony, Lisandre proceeds
to degrade Pedrin using the terms sirrah , goatboy and imbecilic oaf , as well as describing him as
peasantry . Following this incident, Lisandre attempts to intimidate Pedrin through promising to
have him whipped, before being promptly reminded by Briony that there is nobody to conduct the
punishment. When inquired by Durrik regarding the purpose of her journey and she reveals her
intentions of seeking the Erlrune, she states she is not afraid, for she is one of the Ziv. This
reinforces the impression the reader has of Lisandre s knowledge regarding life outside the castle
walls, believing her title grants her protection. Despite all this, Lisandre displays a certain
audacity, which initially drew Briony to her. This is demonstrated in the way in which she
continually defied Lord Zavion when we first meet Lisandre and in her intent to brave the dangers
of the Perilous Forest in order to perhaps

Replacing or suspending the new innovations that scientists are making or have made in the past
is inconceivable, however, society can create an Online Crime Prevention Organization (OCPO)
to monitor the internet. In Kiki Kannibal, one of her major threats was her cyber bullies; she
was constantly tormented and persecuted by strangers online. Kiki was also unable to defend
herself or validate her offenders; she had no help from law enforcement, adults around her, and
there was nothing or no one she could go to with the abuse which made her bullies invincible
while Kiki and her family were left helpless. Erdely mentions in her essay that Kiki fought back
by embracing her outsider status, chopping her long hair and dyeing it pink. She remade herself
into a scene queen, (Erdely). Singer mentions in his essay that Technological breakthroughs have
made it simple to collect, store, and disseminate data on individuals, corporations, and even the
government (Singer 462). As people are becoming more knowledgeable every day, scientists are
creating new innovations that are also helping criminals now, they are more discreet and have
found new ways to practice criminal activities through the internet. An Online Crime prevention
Organization s main goal is to stop or prevent online crime with any action that must be taken
indefinitely; OCPO would be able to access and collect information from anyone who is seen as a
possible threat by verifying the online user through a thumbprint or eye scan before the person goes

Japanese Americans And Japanese War
With racist propaganda floating around of Japanese soldiers with giant sharp teeth, such as
Tokio Kid. Along with the fact that thousands of Japanese Americans were forced into
internment camps, what immigrant would trust such a government. The answer is surprisingly
a lot of them, the image of the Japanese being the enemy was burned into the heads of everyone.
Young Japanese Americans were given the option to fight in the war for the same people who
put them in labor camps. No one is going to join the Americans right? Wrong, a good majority of
the young Japanese signed up to fight for Uncle Sam, and those who refused found themselves
in a jail. After the war there were two different views from the Japanese Americans: either they
no longer identified as Japanese and wanted to be more American; or there were those who were
still loyal to the Japanese Empire and are in the US for the money. The former, which mostly
consisted of younger immigrants, saw those who didn t fight in the war as worthless scum, calling
them no no boys. There was a smaller group of extremists who believed that Japan had won and
there were boats on the way to bring all the true Japanese home, these people were typically older
immigrants. First generation immigrants are more resistant towards assimilation and feel a stronger
connection to their home country, than their second generation American Japanese children

Medullary Reticular Formation Essay
During REM sleep there are numerous output fibers from REM sleep triggering regions that go
towards the medial medullary reticular formation, some of which have synaptic contacts with the
neurotransmitter serotonin, that contain medullary neurons. The efferent pathway that connects to
the pontine REM regions, which have cells of the medial medullary reticular formation, may be
important for moderating sleep specific inhibitory or excitatory postsynaptic effects in motor
neurons, and silencing medullary serotonin containing cells. In the dorsomedial pontine, some axon
terminals emanate from there that make synaptic contacts with medullary reticular formation cells
that dispatch axons to the hypoglossal motor nucleus. These cells mediate REM sleep related

The Free University was going to bring with it a new dynamic to an old West Berlin. Originally,
the idea behind the university was to bind together West Berlin with the western powers who
controlled it; a goal to westernize and make anew a post industrialized society by creating new
urban neighborhoods and roads that promised more logistical presence, due the increase in
automobiles throughout the growing microcosm that this territory embodied (Baird 69). In addition
to the external city improvements, the university promised to be an institution of grand proportion

One of the nation s youngest presidents to be inaugurated, John F Kennedy was born on May 29th,
1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts. He is the second son of nine children to Irish Catholic
immigrants, Joseph and Rose Kennedy. His father Joseph was an ambitious millionaire who served
under Roosevelt as Director of Security and Exchange and U.S ambassador in Britain, which helped
fortify the Kennedys influence in politics. Growing up, John F. Kennedys poor health never
prevented him from exceling in academics. He went to Chaote for high school and then attended
Princeton University before he fell ill and then transferred to Harvard. He would graduate with a
degree in International Affairs. His senior thesis inspired his novel, Why London Slept and

Christianity And Disobedience
Disobedience, Deliverance, Destruction. After the death of Joshua, the men of Judah and Joseph
conquered their territory and drove out the Canaanites, being obedient, but all the other tribes did
not. This signified a lack of trust in the Lord to fight their battles and was disobedient. Destroying
idols was a part of the covenant and most of Israel did not do this and God cursed them. Because
they had not destroyed the Canaanites, they would forever be in tension with them. The Israelites
repented of their sins, but the curse still was in place. One generation after the death of Joshua did

Deborah was a prophetess and she told Barak to attack the king, Sisera, and his army because the
Lord was with him. But Barak was afraid and cowardly. He did not trust God, and because of this
Deborah went with him. Then later Sisera was killed by Jael, another woman because God
would not give Barak the glory of killing the king because Barak had not trusted him. The
cowardice of the men shows the lawlessness and ungodliness of the generation. Midian oppressed
Israel, and yet again a judge is called, but Gideon is cowardly as well and God has to prove to
him over and over again that God should be trusted and obeyed. In the end of his life, Gideon
also made an ephod which in turn all of Israel worshiped. Though it does not say Gideon did, he

Israelites is shown again in the story of Abimelech which is characterized by quarreling, mass

The Modern Mentality Regarding the View of Art
Just a moment ago, as I walked through the shelves of a library and saw the books lined up neatly

their rows of letters and series of words, what could they represent? How do people see these

New Oxford American Dictionary, is the expression or application of human creative skill and

Many of us would claim not to have time to muse upon the music we listen to, and this

The Impact Of Genes On A Person
The impact of genes on a person is a well known assumption among people who study genetics.
When you think about it, who we are and how we act is based off of our genetic makeup.
Behavioral genetics studies the inheritance of behavioral traits. There are some people who are
just nice and easygoing people while others behave in an unmoral way or are considered anti
social. Behavior geneticsis that branch that is trying to figure out what factors play a part in how
people act and what genes lead to diverse array of behavior. Not only could genetic information be
inherited by a person s parent but how much of their behavior is also determined by the
environment, such as their living conditions, the people they surround themselves with, and other
influences that may surround them. Behavior genetics environmental factors can be separated into
two categories, shared and nonshared. Shared environment can be considered the environment that
is shared by members in the same family, which can include the same parents or socioeconomic
class. Nonshared environment is the one that is exclusive to an individual and incorporates their
own peer group or hobbies not shared with family members. When you read a lot about behavioral
genetics there is a lot of talk about Nature vs. Nurture, with genetics being the nature and the
environment being nurture. Since I feel that a person s behavior can be affected by both I can
understand why this theory goes along with this topic. In order to

One of the innovative solutions I have seen for this is brewing in the cryptocurrency sphere, a
technology known as blockchain which was originally created as a digital ledger for tracking
cryptocurrency is being moved from that sphere to a new form of authentication technology
However, before we begin with looking at how we can shift to a whole new setup we must look at
our current trends of password security and our current paths. We humans are habitual creatures
that are use to the ways of the password. Therefore, before we throw it all a way and start over
again it s important we do some soul searching when it comes to our current systems. I believe the
best way to get a better understanding of our current path is to look at what are our current major
issues we are trying to solve.
One of the first problems we are having with our current password systems is the fact many
people are using the same password at different websites. This is not just a new phenomenon
either in face researchers have found According to a new report, nearly 3 out of 4 consumers use
duplicate passwords, many of which have not been changed in five years or more. (4) Our
password system is broken, we have a majority of the world putting their banking details, private
details, behind a system that they can t keep up with. However, we have become accustom to it
and have reached a place to where we are not questioning if this is the best solution become we
have a false sense of security that

Essay on Introducing SMART Antennas to Improve Throughput
1. Purpose and scope of the system In the current wireless networking standards, omni directional
antennas are used to establish connection between the base station and the user. The radiation
emitted from this antenna is spread uniformly in a horizontal manner. These antennas are employed
because the base station is not aware of the location of the user. Hence most of the radiated beam is
lost or dispersed. Furthermore radiation from neighboring base stations with the same frequency
will cause interference. If it is possible to concentrate the beam/radiation only the user and
introduce nulls in the area of the interference, most of the radiated power can be made useful and
gives users with extended range. Introducing SMART antennas... Show more content on

Phased array antennas are to be used, whose array elements in a pattern (linear, circular, planar)
collectively give a directional pattern and by changing the phase of the current to these elements the
radiation pattern can be steered. Algorithms that is needed to achieve this is DOA (Direction of
Arrival) and Adaptive Beamforming algorithm.
Many algorithms are developed:
Direction of Arrival Algorithms:
MUSIC Multiple Signal Classification It is a subspace based DoA algorithm. Subspace
algorithms provide high resolution and are more accurate. The physical size of the array aperture
is not a concern. MUSIC algorithm is widely preferred. It involves extensive search through all
possible steering vectors. [1][2]
ESPRIT Estimation of Signal Parameters via Rotational Invariance Techniques The algorithm is
robust than MUSIC algorithm. Complexity and storage requirements are lower than for MUSIC
algorithm. It explorers the rotational invariance property in the signal subspace created by two
subarrays derived from original array with a translation invariance structure.[2]
Root MUSIC Polynomial version of MUSIC algorithm.
MVDR Minimum Variance Distortion less Response algorithm Aim of this algorithm is to
minimize the power contributed by noise and any signals coming from the interferer.
Beamforming Algorithms
There are two types of beamforming techniques. They are switched beam and adaptive array
system. Switched beam techniques use

NFPA Review Paper
There is significant overlap between the NFPA Life Safety Code and the OSHA construction
standards for buildings / structures to facilitate safe egress, as well as the minimum elements of
emergency action plans and fire prevention plans (Tubbs, J., Meacham, B., 2007). This is not
unexpected as continual industry feedback drives the publication of NFPA updates every three
years which in turn affords NFPA research and guidelines significant clout when OSHA deliberates
over proposed changes which happen to occur less frequently. Federal and state regulatory safety
agencies are the basis and foundation of the safety profession which codifies regulations as
enforceable laws. As such, they do not change frequently without significant analysis,... Show more

While it is always a good idea to know if there are regularly physically disabled persons in your
building area(s), the Army does not typically employ deaf or wheelchair bound Soldiers. The
most important concepts that do apply are the need for regular evacuation drills and to continually
develop and refine standing emergency response plans and to not think of them as one and done
events. Maintaining continuity of operations is not much of an issue as one of our defining
capabilities is our organic ability to lose command and control elements and seamlessly transition
operations to a new location utilizing backup systems that can operate indefinitely. Again, having
those systems in place and routinely exercised is a feature that is specific to our profession where
other operations could easily overlook them or have them written down simply as a concept that

Ecton Inc Case Summary
Ecton, Inc., a startup company, has brought a new invention into the ultrasound equipment industry.
This invention exists in the form of a compact, easy to use, non conventional and newly developed
Doppler echocardiography technology. The company is now poised to move from the product
developmental phase of its invention to bringing it to launch in the market. Towards a successful
and profitable launch however, the company needs to make a choice on whether to activate its

The Company s strategy lies in making this lowly priced product attractive to an alternative
market (a narrowed segment of users) outside the traditional cardiology settings namely in such
areas as ICUs, Surgery departments and physician s offices. The advantage of tackling such a
narrow segment is that Ecton Inc, is able to immune itself from the cult followership enjoyed by
the established makers of Echo Machines from the Echo Techs Also, as against the widely used
Mammoth state of the art Echo machines widely sold by established manufacturers Ecton s new
Doppler echocardiography instrument delivered a compact easy to use product which has some
of the important features of a standard echo machine at a fraction of the standard price. To attain
such low price, Ecton also employed some cost effective approach (e.g. making the machine
compact) in ensuring its delivery to the market at such low price as there are no indication in the
case that the products were delivered to the market at a discount. By drastically reducing the price
of the product to a price point of $38,000, a fraction of the standard price of echo machines, and by
targeting a potentially huge target base of alternative consumer other than the 35% already captured
by the cardiology industry (narrowed focus strategy), the

Essay on Anyone Lived in a Pretty How Town Analysis
The poem anyone lived in a pretty how town by E.E. Cummings talks about the cycle of life and
the importance of structure, symbolism, and language of the poem. For instance, the poem has
nine stanzas, which has a rhyming pattern of AABC. The rhythm of the poem is significant for it
supports one of themes, the cycle of life. Cumming uses season to explain the poem s progress.

The plot of anyone lived in a pretty how town is simple, but it is the choices of language that
makes this poem complex. The story begins with anyone, which can be considered as a specific
person. Anyone is a guy who the Women and men, or the someones and everyones, of the town
don t care about, because he is different than they are. Although, the children of the town can see
the love of Anyone and Noone, but even they begin to dislike the difference of Anyone as down
they forgot as up they grew. (10) Anyone and Noone soon later are buried side by side, while the
people carry on living their lives, learning nothing from Anyone and Noone. Cumming uses his
own grammar to describe the relationship of Anyone and Noone. Anyone is not just anyone so
using anyone s any was all to her (16) shows the appreciation for Anyone s individuality. Because
of Anyone s any , this confronts the someones (17) or everyones (17) making Anyone unique.
The poem reveals the love that Anyone and Noone shares. This love they have, everyones does
not have. When Anyone sang his didn t and danced his did (4) and Noone laughed his joy and
cried his grief (14), gave differences of when someones and everyones laughed their cryings and

Fragile X Syndrome Analysis
In 1943 two men, Martin and Bell discovered a gene condition called Fragile X Syndrome. 2
Fragile X Syndrome (FXS) is a genetic condition, which may cause an intellectual disability,
behavioural and learning difficulties and various other physical characterstics.1 It occurs when the
female gene (X gene) is repeated over 50 200 times, this is called Fragile X permutation. 1 In
1969, Herbert Lubs established the chromosomal test for Fragile X Syndrome. Fragile X Syndrome
is an inherited condition in which the X chromosomeis passed on from the parent to the child. If the
woman has the affect X, they will have an increased chance for passing the geneon but as men have
an Y as well as an X chromosome, if they have Fragile X Syndrome, their sons won t be affected as
they have their fathers Y chromosome. It is the most common form of inherited intellectual
disability in males and a major cause of intellectual disability in females.
There is currently no cure for this condition yet and treatment is generally based on the symptoms
the individual has.
During the 1970s and 1980s, the only examination for Fragile X Syndrome was a test in which
blood was taken to test for chromosomes.3 However, this was unreliable as not always accurate. In
the 1990s scientists identified a specific gene that causes Fragile X Syndrome and ... Show more

Kansas s The Exporting Industry
Kansas in the Exporting Industry
Despite periods of rising prosperity, the last three decades have been characterized by middle and
lower income wage stagnation; a lack of job opportunities for those without a college degree; and a
speculative bubble inducing trade deficit. While the exports in Kansas have been growing at a
consistent rate, a significant increase in Kansas s exports could dramatically improve these
conditions, both nationally and statewide. (Brookings Program). To encourage this economic
activity there have been several efforts made by both the government and private sector.
According to Export Nation, the state of Kansas exported $22.8 billion dollars worth of
merchandise in 2012; the last year the information was available. Kansas ranked 30th out of the
50 states for exports. These exports were to both other states and foreign countries. Exports from
the state of Kansas have risen from 11% of the gross domestic product in 2003 to 16.8% in 2012,
gaining 5.8% in those 9 years. The city of Wichita, ranks 1st in the share and dollar amounts of
exports. In 2012, the companies within the city exported $7.7 billion claiming 33.6% of the state s
exports. (Export Nation, 2012)
The products that Kansas tends to be known for exporting to other states or international countries
are predominantly aircraft, wheat and beef. However, according to the Wichita Eagle, the top
export from the state in 2013 was in the agribusiness sector, totaling more than $2.6 billion

Neal Miller John Dollard Neal Miller, a well known psychologist, was an important theorist who
dedicated a lot of time and effort into studying the work of Sigmund Freud and Clark Hull. Miller
became interested in Clark Hull s work on his study of classical conditioning (Coon, 2010). While
at Yale University, Miller joined John Dollard and several other individuals to write the book
Frustration and Aggression (Coon, 2010). After this book was wrote, Miller and Dollard joined

Personality and Psychotherapy, Miller and Dollard also researched the stimulus response

and psychoneuroses, Miller and Dollard incorporated ideas of Sigmund Freud s theory of

Why Is Hmong Culture Important
Many cultures have certain traditions that are very important to them. For example, the Hmong
culture has a tradition about marriage. When a Hmong man wants to get married and start a
family, he has to ask two specific men called Mekoob , to go with him to his women s house and
formally ask the parents for their daughter s hand in marriage. They later talk about the wedding
plan and the price for everything. The husband and his familyhave to pay for all the expenses.
There is also a tradition called Noj Pebcaug . This is where the Hmong celebrate the New Year and

The Jewish culture has a tradition called a Bar and Bat mitzvah. This tradition is to signify that a
boy and a girl are old enough to be called a woman or a man. Also, this will give responsibility to

accounted for their own actions. To take responsibility in what they do wrong and what they do
right. This ceremony usually start at the age of 13 for boys and the age of 12 for girls. Though,
Bar and Bat mitzvahs are celebrated young some choose to have the ceremony when they are
adults, which has been growing in popularity. Also, the Jewish wedding ceremony is an important
tradition too. Before the wedding ceremony, the groom agrees to be bound by the terms of the
ketubah, or marriage contract. The ketubah details the obligations of the groom to the bride,
which are food, clothing and marital relations. A traditional Jewish wedding ceremony takes place
under wedding canopy, symbolizing the new home being built by the couple when they become
husband and wife. Some Jewish culture has a custom to cover the face of the bride, followed by a
prayer. The husband is then led under the wedding canopy by the two fathers and the wife by the
two mothers. After, the rings are the presented and then the groom and bride puts them on for one

  • 3. Why Germany Lost the First World War Why Germany lost the First World War The First World War ended with the triple entente as victorious (with help from the Americans). Some reasons to why the allies won the war were because of; Germany had to fight a war on two fronts, the unstable political situation in Germany, the allied naval blockade, German economy, failure of the schlieffen plan, interception of the Zimmerman telegram, the German naval blockade on Britain (sinking of American ships), development of the tank and anti submarine weapons, the advancement of new technology that required new tactics. The Naval blockade The British blockade was a key factor in the defeat of Germany. Starved of supplies, the German army was weakened and the German people lost some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This led to trench warfare. The Germans were not prepared to do this type of war, they did not have the resources to do this due to the british naval blockade. Concerning the Schleiffen plan there were a few severe miscalculations that led to gargantuan problems, the Germans had miscalculated the amount of soldiers, supplies and communication that required to be transported across the country from east to west and back. This miscalculation was not expected due to Germany thinking that Russia would be slow to mobilize and thereby give Germany time to first beat the French then later turn all their forces towards the east to face Russia. Weak Allies Germany had chosen her allies badly, they had allied themselves to the decaying Austrian Empire, Ottoman Empire and Italy. Germany had chosen badly when relying on Italy to help out in the war since as soon as war was declared Italy pulled out of the alliance. Also Germany had to constantly assist the Austrian Empire in protecting their own territory. This led to problems as this exhausted troops that would and should have been sent to fight the war in the trenches. Germany also sent supplies that should have been sent to the soldiers fighting on the front line. If Germany had stronger and more reliable allies then the outcome of the war would have been different. • 4. Martin Luther And The Protestant Reformation In the early days of November 10, 1483, Martin Luther was born in Eisleben, Saxony, in modern southeast Germany and it was an extremely tense world. But on the other hand great changes were waiting around the corner, and Luther too, would take a part in these changes. On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther, angry with Pope Leo X s new round of indulgences to help build St. Peter s Basilica, nailed a sheet of paper with his 95 Theses on the University of Wittenberg s chapel door. Martin Luther was a German monk who began the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century, becoming one of the most influential and controversial figures in Christian history. Luther called into question some of the basic tenets of Roman Catholicism, and his followers soon split from the Roman Catholic Church to begin the Protestant tradition. The first few years of monastic life were difficult for Martin Luther, as he did not find the religious enlightenment he was seeking. A mentor told him to focus his life exclusively on Christ and this would later provide him with the guidance he sought. At age 27, Luther was given the opportunity to be a delegate to a Catholic church conference in Rome. He came away more disillusioned, and very discouraged by the immorality and corruption he witnessed there among the Catholic priests. Upon his return to Germany, he enrolled in the University of Wittenberg in an attempt to suppress his spiritual turmoil. He excelled in his studies and received a doctorate, ... • 5. Gothic Architecture In Europe s Influence On English... 1INTRODUCTION Originating in France, which had an even greater impact on English architecture than in previous centuries, the Gothic style is an era of European architecture and art, starting 1140 and lasting until the mid 16th century. It is the epoch between Romanesque and Renaissance and heavily makes use of imagery as well as allegory. In architecture, the Early, High and Late Gothic periods are distinguished. Depending on surroundings and time, these periods have developed differently. Vast cathedrals and churches but also a few domestic buildings provide the strongest representation of Gothic architectural style (Wikipedia contributors, 2017a). 1.1ORIGIN OF THE TERM GOTHIC The term Gothic originally was a swearword (meaning: barbaric, unfamiliar) which the Italian art theorist Giorgio Vasari wanted to express his disregard of Gothic art in relation to antiquity. Gothic architecture was called opus francigenum which means French Style (Wikipedia contributors, 2017a). 1.2DEVELOPMENT OF THE GOTHIC ARCHITECTURAL STYLE Gothic represented a break with the past which is expressed by getting rid of massive wall constructions, an emphasis on views and diagonal lines. This style of architecture with its new elements made buildings seem like or inspired by a skeleton which is a first and has not been practiced in ancient as well as medieval architecture (Watkin, 2015a). Gothic architecture draws on basics of Romanesque s technologically developed art of construction and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Great Gatsby A Great Person Essay For someone to be truly great they need to make sacrifices to become successful. Anyone can be great at something, but to be great at everything is a much more difficult feat to accomplish. The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is a famous novel taking place in the flapper days. J. Gatsby, a main character, is in love with a wealthy girl named Daisy. No matter how great Gatsby becomes he is unable to fulfill his dream of being with Daisy. However, because Gatsby couldn t be with Daisy, he made himself become as great as a person can become. Gatsby turned himself into a gentleman, took himself from dirt poor to one of the richest men at the time, and he did it all with his motivation. Some suggest that Gatsby was not a great person because he was involved in illegal practices such as bootlegging. But in fact, bootlegging made him a great person because he was able to use the money that he made for good causes and he was also a fair person. He was extremely intelligent and understood how to be of help to others through his illegal activities. Greatness can often be seen by how wealthy one is; Gatsby was one of the most wealthy men of the time. Gatsby s mansion was described by having, a tower one one side, spanking new under a thin beard of raw ivy, and a marble swimming pool, and more than forty acres of lawn and garden. (5).... • 10. Declaration Of Sentiments Rhetorical Analysis The opening paragraph of Elizabeth Cady Stanton s Declaration of Sentiments, which narrates, When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary..., (Stanton 1), along with the title itself reveals a connection to Thomas Jefferson s Declaration of Independence. Elizabeth Cady Stanton wrote the declaration after being excluded from the World Anti Slavery convention, much like how the colonists were excluded from British Parliament. Declaration of Sentimentslists the grievances of women, which is another similarly to Jefferson s Declaration of Independence where he lists the grievances of the colonists. Stanton introduced her Declaration of Sentiments at the Seneca Falls Convention, which further conveys similarity to Jefferson s Declaration of Independence as his Declaration of Independence was introduced at the Second Continental Congress. Stanton, modeling her Declaration of Sentiments after Jefferson s Declaration of Independence, uses anaphora, the rhetorical triangle, allusions, personification, and harsh diction to achieve her effect of inspiring change to the benefit of women in society, similar to how Thomas Jefferson inspired change in the colonies through his Declaration of Independence. In order to emphasize and organize her points about the grievances of women in Declaration of Sentiments, Stanton uses anaphora in like manner to the way Jefferson uses it in Declaration of Independence. • 17. Symbolism In Alley By The Lake By Leonid Afremov Differences Do Not Define Relationships In Alley by The Lake by Leonid Afremov the most prominent technique that he uses is symbolism. He uses this to help his viewers see the perspective that he sees. He uses different approaches that the viewer sees subconsciously, one major approach is through his use of color. These properties procure an attachment to the couple that is the focal point of the piece. In Alley by The Lake Leonid Afremov depicts the harmony of a couple s relationship and personalities symbolically through well picked objects specifically the couple, the trees, and the lights. Avremov uses the cool colored man and the warm colored woman to grab and pull the corresponding colors schemes together in the center through the couple. The settings on either side of the painting stick to their specific color scheme. When Afremov swaps the trend in the center of the painting it creates the focal point. The couple has a man depicting the dark color on the left side of the painting instead of the right. This is where all the other dark blue colors are at in the painting. The same pattern is followed for the woman, she finds herself on the cool side of the painting instead of the warm side which corresponds with the color shown on her dress. This ties the people to their corresponding colors. It also helps depict their personalities through the corresponding colors. Like the woman having the orange red color and it being connected to the idea of her personality being outgoing and friendly. This is proven by her connection with the abundant trees and lights. There is also a connection with the dark colors on the man and the right side of the painting. This connection is that the dark colors create an idea that he is sad and depressed. This is depicted through not only the colors but also through the sole dying tree and the lights. It also gives the idea that even though these two people are different in their personalities and lives, they somehow found a way to connect to each other. These connections are seen in the actions they display towards one another. They are close together as well as linking arms. This gives the viewer a picture of how close they are because of their physical positions. They are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What I Would Never Have Believed That Concepts From Economics Prior to writing this, I would never have believed that concepts from economics would have fit into my decisions in course selections. But, now looking at the individual concepts and what they really entail, it makes perfect sense. As a sophomore picking out classes, I had free choice whether to enter the CP course, the Honors course or the AP course. The only reason why I was able to choose between these three courses was because of my grades. This is similar to the concept of barriers to entry in economics; the students are the new firms, the courses are the industries, and the different grades are the actual barrier into the courses. By using this concept, I determined that taking the AP course did benefit me more in the long run than taking the honors course. One of the major benefits that I looked at was whether taking this course would help benefit me in the long run. I used the concept of human capital , thinking that with this course and my other collective knowledge that I would gather from other classes, I was preparing myself to be a well rounded student and so possibly more successful in the future. In taking the AP course, I would learn a slightly different topic than the Honors or CP classes, and at a higher level of difficulty. I would definitely learn the topic and broaden my knowledge, but I would also learn more skills, like managing time wisely and different studying skills for a harder course. On the other hand, the costs of taking the AP course was like the concept of opportunity cost , the things I had to give up in order to take the course. Summary OfThe Starthorn Tree By Lady Lisandre Ziv Estaria Within the early chapters of The Starthorn Tree, authored by Kate Forsyth, Lady Lisandre Ziv Estaria is portrayed as a vain, yet somewhat audacious stricken youth, that displays little concept of life outside the walls of the Castle of Estelliana. Lisandre assumes an attitude of superiority towards those of the heathen, believing them to be inferior to those of her kindred. Throughout the preliminary stages of the novel, Lisandre constantly reasserts her status. Shortly after taking refuse at Pedrin and Durrik s campsite, accompanied by her mistress Briony, Lisandre proceeds to degrade Pedrin using the terms sirrah , goatboy and imbecilic oaf , as well as describing him as peasantry . Following this incident, Lisandre attempts to intimidate Pedrin through promising to have him whipped, before being promptly reminded by Briony that there is nobody to conduct the punishment. When inquired by Durrik regarding the purpose of her journey and she reveals her intentions of seeking the Erlrune, she states she is not afraid, for she is one of the Ziv. This reinforces the impression the reader has of Lisandre s knowledge regarding life outside the castle walls, believing her title grants her protection. Despite all this, Lisandre displays a certain audacity, which initially drew Briony to her. This is demonstrated in the way in which she continually defied Lord Zavion when we first meet Lisandre and in her intent to brave the dangers of the Perilous Forest in order to perhaps ... After the death of Joshua, the men of Judah and Joseph conquered their territory and drove out the Canaanites, being obedient, but all the other tribes did not. This signified a lack of trust in the Lord to fight their battles and was disobedient. Destroying idols was a part of the covenant and most of Israel did not do this and God cursed them. Because they had not destroyed the Canaanites, they would forever be in tension with them. The Israelites repented of their sins, but the curse still was in place. He did not trust God, and because of this Deborah went with him. Then later Sisera was killed by Jael, another woman because God would not give Barak the glory of killing the king because Barak had not trusted him. The cowardice of the men shows the lawlessness and ungodliness of the generation. Midian oppressed Israel, and yet again a judge is called, but Gideon is cowardly as well and God has to prove to him over and over again that God should be trusted and obeyed. In the end of his life, Gideon also made an ephod which in turn all of Israel worshiped. Though it does not say Gideon did, he also did not dissuade people and in the end, Gideon was not honored. The godlessness of the Israelites is shown again in the story of Abimelech which is characterized by quarreling, mass murder, and idolatry. The Modern Mentality Regarding the View of Art Just a moment ago, as I walked through the shelves of a library and saw the books lined up neatly in their place, a question arose; what were these books in regard to their place in the world? With their rows of letters and series of words, what could they represent? How do people see these bounded pieces of paper? In a very general sense, they represent a type of art. Art , as defined by the New Oxford American Dictionary, is the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination . . . producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. Of course not. Music has become something that, instead of musing upon, we have begun to place in the background of our world, in the gray area of our day. Many of us would claim not to have time to muse upon the music we listen to, and this is probably true. Because of the way our modern world works, nobody is going to set aside time to do this. Instead, they prefer to do something else much more stimulating and rewarding. We forget to stop and look at the world in its beauty and at who we are as An overstimulation of our brains has numbed us to the subtle, sophisticated beauty of true art. • 38. The Impact Of Genes On A Person The impact of genes on a person is a well known assumption among people who study genetics. When you think about it, who we are and how we act is based off of our genetic makeup. Behavioral genetics studies the inheritance of behavioral traits. There are some people who are just nice and easygoing people while others behave in an unmoral way or are considered anti social. Behavior geneticsis that branch that is trying to figure out what factors play a part in how people act and what genes lead to diverse array of behavior. Not only could genetic information be inherited by a person s parent but how much of their behavior is also determined by the environment, such as their living conditions, the people they surround themselves with, and other influences that may surround them. Behavior genetics environmental factors can be separated into two categories, shared and nonshared. Shared environment can be considered the environment that is shared by members in the same family, which can include the same parents or socioeconomic class. Nonshared environment is the one that is exclusive to an individual and incorporates their own peer group or hobbies not shared with family members. When you read a lot about behavioral genetics there is a lot of talk about Nature vs. Nurture, with genetics being the nature and the environment being nurture. Since I feel that a person s behavior can be affected by both I can understand why this theory goes along with this topic. In order to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Purpose and scope of the system In the current wireless networking standards, omni directional antennas are used to establish connection between the base station and the user. The radiation emitted from this antenna is spread uniformly in a horizontal manner. These antennas are employed because the base station is not aware of the location of the user. Hence most of the radiated beam is lost or dispersed. Furthermore radiation from neighboring base stations with the same frequency will cause interference.
