Harry Hopkins Contributions
Abstract
This paper will explore three important aspects that Harry Hopkins achieved in this social work career.
Fist the path he took in working within the social work field, second the contributions he made and
lastly how his work could inform individuals working in the practice of a social worker. Utilizing
eight different articles, this paper will explore the life of Harry Hopkins and how he had an account of
the impact on public policies here in the United States, and how no other social worker has had the
influence in changing the direction of American social policy.
Keywords: paths, contributions, inform the social work now Social Work and Social Change
In the year 1926, Harry Hopkins, who was the Director of the New York Tuberculosis Society, who
would go on to be one of Franklin D. Roosevelt s closest advisors and became a designer of the New
Deal. Harry Hopkins wrote, The field of social work and public health are inseparable, and not
artificial boundaries can separate them. Social work is interwoven in the whole fabric of the public
health movement, and has directly influenced it at every point (Hopkins, 1926). A review of social
work s past and current efforts can highlight its contemporary value. Hopkins believed that there was a
creative understanding in face to face relationships. The immediate problems of this Association of
social workers explain Kurzman (1977) is to bring together social work and public administration.

Essay on Class Conflict in the Great Gatsby
The main, reoccurring theme in F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby, is the theme of society
and class. Three separate social classes are portrayed in the novel: old money, new money, and the
lowest class known as no money. The old money class refers to those who come from families that
have fortunes. New money families are those who made their money in the Roaring Twenties and
often lavishly display their wealth. In the novel, the growing tension between the old and the new
money classes are shown through Gatsby and Tom s struggle over Daisy. The novel s narrator, Nick
Carraway, begins the novel by sharing advice his father gave him when he was younger: do not
criticize others because all the people in this world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some big bootlegger? Where d you hear that? I inquired. I didn t hear it. I imagined it. A lot of
these newly rich people are just big bootleggers, you know. Not Gatsby, I said shortly. He was
silent for a moment. The pebbles of the drive crunched under his feet. Well, he certainly must have
strained himself to get this menagerie together. A breeze stirred the gray haze of Daisy s fur collar.
At least they re more interesting than the people we know, she said with an effort. (6.98 105)
By juxtaposing Gatsby and Daisy, Fitzgerald distinctly reveals the idiocy of the new money class.
Daisy comes from an environment with true values and stiff behavior, and when placed in West Egg
she finds herself unable to live with such negligence. The theme of this novel, the hollowness of the
upper class, is similarly portrayed at the very end of the novel after the death of Gatsby. The day
before Gatsby s funeral, Nick goes around in an effort to assemble more people to attend the services.
He goes to New York to try to get Meyer Wolfsheim, a friend of Gatsby, to attend the ceremony.
Wolfsheim reflects on his friendship

The Story Map Of Home
The story Map of Home gives insight into the lives of a family that has been pushed out of their home
that now must travel to different country s as refugees. One of the points of conflict in the book is
based on the us vs them dichotomy which is based on the notion of fear of others and fear of reaction.
This situation has caused a fracture between the refugees and the country s taking them in. In this
paper one will also see how this conflict relates the situation in
Paris and also argue the position of whether it is right to justify action based on fear. This is
problematic because this process deems ignorance, fear and pride as an acceptable way of approaching
a situation when it should be approached with kindness, and respect ... Show more content on

The attack has fractured the relationship between nations and refuges which has caused a dire problem
for [refugees] a person who flees for refuge or safety, especially to a foreign country, as in time of
political upheaval, war (Dictionary.com) all over the world. Many countries are closing their doors on
refugees based on the notion of fear and what if.
For example, What if we get bomb or threatened? What if the refuges are terrorist? This notion is
based on fear and fear of others, which instills a fear of rejection to those looking for help. The most
difficult part about this conflict is that the questions being asked are important to the security of the
country. Most of the people that are refugees are running away from the same terrorist group that
attacked Paris. When we react with an emotion reaction like fear and enclose oneself from the
problem we are rejecting the refugees and we are falling in to the us vs, them dichotomy. [Dichotomy]
Division into two mutually exclusive, opposed, or contradictory groups (Dictionary.com). Were we are
pitted against each other and neither wanting to risk the lives of the ones held dear. To solve this
problem one needs to approach both dichotomies with a better solution, which doesn t, put both
parties at risk or against each other.
In the book Map Of home, a public and personal account of the conflict between Israel and
Palestine is told. The conflict left many

After the seminal work of Lotka and Volterra [52, 1]...
After the seminal work of Lotka and Volterra [52, 1] predator prey study becomes popular and
important research area in applied sciences (population dynamics and mathematical ecology etc.).
Similarly, the pioneer work of Kermack Meckindric [53] open new door to epidemiology. After the

All these authors study the prey predators systems with disease dynamics and they investigate the
stability results. In recent decades the combined study of ecology and epidemiology is termed as eco
epidemiology.

Similarly some jelly sh make daily horizontal migration [22, 60]. As an example of migratory birds,
we can refer to [61]. We note that in the month of October, 2013 almost 3 lakh birds include Greylag

and
North Europe and birds stay in wetlands of Kashmir (India)[61]. A list of animals that migrate can see
in
[62]. Similarly for a list of migratory Indian birds can found in [63]. From this discussion it is clear
that to study the prey predator system more scienti cally, the e ect of migration must be taken into
consideration
Preprint submitted to Elsevier April 6, 2014 while formulating of mathematical model of this system.
As far as the data on migration is concerned, there are a very few authentic sources are available in the
literature. As pointed out earlier that migration of birds to Jammu and Kashmir (India) can see in [61],
but the method how they count, methodology etc. are not so well de ned. However data of human
migration may be found in census reports in any of the country.
Available data on human migration is more accurate and authentic as compare to other species. The
reason for this is quite simple that human has documentary evidence for movements but other species
not. To our knowledge, exact data on migration of other species is not available. In the present study
we consider the e ect of migration on prey

Literary Analysis Of Emily Dickinson s To A Heart In Sea
ID #1 Futile the winds
To a Heart in port
Done with the Compass
Done with the Chart!
The second stanza of Emily Dickinson s Wild Nights Wild Nights! , portrays a sense of romantic
longing between the two lovers. In this poem, there is a nautical type of scenery being displayed,
especially in the last two stanzas. This is true because, the second stanza references: compasses,
charts, seas and ports. The first line states, Futile the winds , futile meaning pointless. The narrator is
stating that no matter how hard the winds blow, or how rough the seas get, her love is strong and she is
not going anywhere. When the narrator says, To a Heart in port , it kind of creates a setting of a lovers
embrace. Every woman desires to be sought after and longed for. The narrator is no longer searching
for love, because she has found love, therefore her heart is in port or it is docked. The narrator talks
about how she is done with the compass and with the chart in the last two lines. She is giving up all
control for this person, she is free to love and to be loved. She does not need a compass or a chart
because she is not looking for anything anymore. She has found her love and her voyage is now over.
She has found her Wild Night .
ID #4 they don t fit into little petty places, these hips are free hips. Lucille Clifton s homage to my
hips, is all about women s empowerment. Throughout the poem, we see this reoccurring symbol of
hips. Clifton is talking about women s hips in general, not just hers. The hips in this poem symbolize
how strong and powerful women are. How women can accomplish anything if they set their mind to
it. These three lines talk about how not every woman has a perfect body and how each of them are
different. These hips do not fit into society s standards for women. These hips are different, not
perfect, but they are beautiful in their own way, they don t fit into little petty places. In the poem it
says, these hips are free hips which explains how women are free to make their own decisions. They
are free to have whatever kind of body type they want, without being shamed for being different.
Clifton uses the imagery of the hips to show how women are huge role models for

Beyond these factors, there is evidence of a pathophysiological role for inflammation and oxidative
stress in CKD and its complications [2]. These two events are prominent features of CKD and its
complications in humans [3,4,5,6,7]. Increased oxygen radical formation was found in CKD, in the
presence of a reduced antioxidant defense [8]. Patients suffer from chronic microinflammation and
infections [9]. Gum Arabic (GA) is derived from exudates of Acacia senegal or Acacia seyal trees. It
consists of a mixture of polysaccharides (major component) plus oligosaccharides and glycoproteins
[1,2]; however, its composition can vary with its source, climate and soil. Sudan is the world s largest
producer, followed by many other African countries. It readily dissolves in water to form solutions
characterized by low viscosity. This allows its use in various applications [3]. Gum Arabic was
evaluated for acceptable daily intake for man by the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food
Additives since 1969 [5]; however, Sudanese people in Western Sudan had been using it for long time
without limitations. It is indigestible to both humans and animals, not degraded in the intestine, but
fermented in the colon to give short chain fatty acids, leading to a large range of possible health
benefits [6]. One of these benefits is its prebiotic effect [7,8]. It has been claimed that four week

Court Case Of Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks wouldn t give up her seat on the bus for she thought that blacks and whites should be equal

structure of southern society pre 1955. The southern states had white only restaurants, white only rest
zones in bus centers etc. Montgomery, Alabama, buses were segregated with specific areas on a bus
reserved for white customers and other seats for black costumers. After a full days work, Rosa Parks

On December 1st, 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus. In 1943, Parks had paid her
fare to a bus driver who told her to get on the bus by its rear door as black seats were always in the
back, as she moved to the rear door, the bus drove off.
Rosa Parks is invariably portrayed as someone who had rached the end of her patience after a hard day

long worker for the NAACP and she had taken a special interest in the Claudette Colvin case. At the

became a seamstress simply because that was all she could find to do in the segregated society of
Montgomery. However, Parks had been educated at the all black Alabama State College. When Parks
was arrested, the NAACP asked the police why they had done this. E. D. Nixon of the NAACP was
told that It was none of your dang business . After finding out the reason for her arrest, Nixon posted

John Locke s The Second Treatise Of Government
Classical liberalism values the rights and freedoms of the individual, as well as the ability to have
limited government. John Locke s The Second Treatise of Government embraces fundamental parts of
the ideology, including self interest, consent of the governed, as well as equality between citizens.
With these principles being demonstrated, it allows Locke to be seen as the father of Classical
Liberalism. Self interest is one of the most important factors of classical liberalism, and within the
Second Treatise we are shown this through Locke s views on private property. The purpose of
conforming to a society as opposed to staying in the peaceful state of nature, is to make laws...
regulating and preserving property, employing the force of the community in the execution of such
laws, and in the defense of the commonwealth from foreign injury, and all this for the public good. (pg

Locke pursues the idea that we are born with the choice to adhere to a government, and also the extent
to which the government can interfere. Since power is only legitimate with consent, the laws are the
same. People cannot be bound by any laws but such as are enacted by those whom they have chosen
and authorized to make laws for them. (pg 66) Absolute monarchs are not appointed by the citizens,
but instead inherit their position. Therefore, monarchies should have no control over the citizens. Also,
laws are not to abolish or restrain, but to preserve and enlarge freedom... for liberty is to be free from
restraint and violence of others; which cannot be where there is no law. (pg 25) By allowing a
government, it protects the individual and allows government interference only when absolutely
necessary. Liberalism has to do with remaining as free as possible, so there is limited government to

Comparison Of Sikhism In The Fullerton Gurdwara
The phrase Sikh refers to disciple in Punjabi, or those who see themselves as disciples or followers of
Akal Purakh, the ten Sikh Gurus, and the sacred scripture, the Adi Granth. Sikhs worship Sri Guru
Nanak; Guru Nanak was born in 1469 to a higher caste merchant family in a village which is near
modern day Lahore, Pakistan. At this time a lot of India was under the Muslim control including the
Punjab. The story behind Guru Nanak is that he went to bathe in the Vein River and during this bath
he completely disappeared. All of his family looked for him but he could not be found, but three days
later he came out of the water and declared, There is no Hindu, there is no Muslim. This statement
plays a huge part in this religion because of the two opposing religions, Hinduism and Islam,
surrounding Sikhism. Therefore, the ideology behind Sikhism is that there is one God for all religions
and that as a Sikh you must follow the writings and teachings of the ten gurus. My goal for this
research paper is to compare and contrast what I observed at the Fullerton Gurdwara to what the book,
the lectures, and other educational resources say. In the following paragraphs I will discuss clothing
etiquette, prayer, and modern Sikhism as observed in the Fullerton Gurdwara.
To start off, when first coming to a Gurdwara I was told to wear traditional clothing such as a shalwar

Perception People perceive the same situation in their own ways. We learn from the flow of
information through our five senses: sight, sound, smell, touch and taste. However, each of us
receives, organises and interprets the received sensory information in an individual way using short

by selective exposure, selective distortion, and selective retention.¡¨ (Kotler, Brown, Adam Armstrong,

into the mind of animal s learning habits led the world to figuring out connectionism. Before
Thorndike had discovered the theory of Animal Intelligence the anecdotal method was always used
which used collections of memorial events or situations where animals showed natural thinking

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Insomnia Essay
As a kid all I would want to do is pull all nighters , now all I want is to actually have one good night s
sleep, or at least half a night s sleep. For those who are completely oblivious to what insomnia is it is
characterized as a persistent lack of sleep, but those who have insomnia know that it is so much more
than just a lack of sleep. For instance, there are actually different types of insomnia that are
categorized by how long you stay awake, if lack of sleep last less than a week then it is considered
Transient Insomnia, if it last one to three weeks its Short Term Insomnia, and if it last longer than
three weeks it s called Chronic Insomnia. I myself suffer from insomnia, and my symptoms would
usually last one to two weeks so I have Short Term Insomnia. Now I didn t know I had any problems

stay up. Before I was diagnosed with insomnia I was a energetic kid who was always enthusiastic
about everything, but as I grew older and school became more demanding I would be tired after
school but I knew there was no way I could go to sleep still and I couldn t understand why.
Sleep is for the weak, at least that s what I would try and tell myself. I wanted to believe that sleep
was not as important as everyone says it is, but that quickly changed when the lack of sleep I was
having was starting to affect my way of daily living. Around the age of eight or nine my

Naphthalene Chromatography
CONCLUSION
The goal of the experiment was to use extraction to separate and identify the components of a mixture
of acid, base, and neutral. This was completed, identifying the components to be benzoic acid (36.4%
yield), meta nitroaniline (52.7% yield), and naphthalene (52.7% yield). These identities were
confirmed after separation and isolation using melting point analysis. The melting point observed for
the benzoic acid was 121.2 122.5ºC, the meta nitroaniline s was 111.5 112.8ºC, and the neutral
naphthalene s melting range measured 78.7 81.2ºC. These observations support the claim that the
mixture was successfully separated into its three original components.

The neutral was weighed and the mass of the compound and its flask together were recorded. The acid
and base were each scraped onto weigh paper on a zeroed scale using a metal scoop. The mass of
these products was also recorded.
Identifying Compounds in Unknown B by Melting Point: A small capillary was used and pressed into
the three samples and placed in a melting point apparatus. The melting point was set to start at 75°C
and increase at a rate of 2°C per minute. The point at which melting started and finished was recorded.
The melting ranges were then compared to that of the possible compounds and a preliminary
determination of compound identity was made. A mixed melting point analysis (a small amount of the
unknown and authentic sample were mixed and the melting point was taken again) was used to verify
the compound. If the melting point was significantly depressed, another possible compound was
chosen and a new mixed melting point analysis was performed. This process continued until all of the
melting points remained stable, confirming the identity of the separated and isolated mixture
components.

Private Peaceful Comparative Essay
The novel Private Peaceful and the short story The Best Christmas Present in the World are both by
Michael Morpurgo, however the author is not the only thing that connects the two. When looking at
these stories you realise just how similar they are, mainly the characters, plot and many of the themes.
However, these stories are also very different, and the main characters face challenges that are
different to each other yet hold just as much importance. Tommo, our narrator in Private Peaceful,

When looking at the latter, it does seem like Connie and Jim almost reflect Molly and Charlie in their
loss and relationship with each other. However it does seem, at a glance at least, that Private Peaceful
is the sadder of the pair. When looking deeper though, and thinking about Molly, you do realise that,
yes, she does loose her love but at least she has a support network. Connie however, didn t have any of
that and therefore never fully got over the loss of her husband, as it seems that he was her foundation
and when he left she is, as it says in the book is a bit confused and She has no family you know. No

between their pages. They teach us of the way life was in the war, how terrible the danger was in
Private Peaceful but also how incredible the peace felt in The Best Christmas Present in the World ,
even if for only a day. They do have their differences but still give us the message of hope and to
treasure what we have, as we may not have it for much longer. They have varied plots, themes and
characters but are overall very close in many aspects, such as the sacrifices they had to

Common Causes of War and Genocide Essay example
Genocide, or the systematic destruction of a race or tribe is an all too common phenomenon in our
planet s history and even more so in Africa. Genocide and war share many common causes such as
desperation brought on by a declining economy. Experts on the Central African Republic believe that
current events point to a possible repeat of the Rwandan genocide of 1994, in which over one million
people were killed. Many think that U.N. involvement is necessary to stop the escalating violence in
the Central African Republic; others believe that the dismal track record of the U.N. in similar
situations makes it unlikely that they could be effective in the current crisis. Regardless, an already
bad human rights situation is likely to worsen.

To escape the slave traders, many Africans moved from place to place, avoiding contact with other
people. The historic isolation between groups has contributed to the difficulty Central Africans have
had in developing a modern government or identity.
The 20th century, often called the century of genocide gives numerous events from which information
can be drawn to help understand the declining situation in the Central African Republic. There have
been a number of genocides outside of Africa in the 20th century to include: the holocaust of World
War II brought on by Adolf Hitler in which approximately six million Jews were killed, the
Holodomor in the Ukraine under Josef Stalin with a Ukrainian population reduction of as much as 25
percent, and the massacre in Cambodia under Pol Pot with around two millions Cambodian deaths.
Within Africa, from April 6 to July 15, 1994, a barbaric act of genocide took place in Rwanda before
the very eyes of the troops of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda. Hundreds of
thousands of old people, women, children, and even tiny babies were hunted down and cut to pieces in

Help Me Nigga Character Analysis
In Kevin Hart s stand up comedy show titled Let Me Explain Witness the Rise of A Legend, Kevin
Hart goes on a comedic rant about the changes he went thru doing his marriage and before, during and
after his divorce that led him to become the person he is today. One comedy bit that stood out to me
the most was entitled Help Me Nigga. Kevin begins this bit by stating that cheating was the reason
why his marriage failed, but immediately after stating this turns around and states that is was actually
lying about cheating that was the reason why his marriage didn t last. He proceeds to give examples of
the many times that he lied about when he was cheating even bringing his best friend into the web of

According to the article Emotional Detachment in Relationships, by Michael Schreiner, emotional
detachment is more common among males than women where a man tends to shut down, stop talking
and distance himself when there is a difficult conflict situation going on with no resolution in sight.
One way to get through this emotional detachment is to not poke or prod your partner to force them to
become emotionally attached, but rather give them some space and time to let things calm down.
Poking and prodding has been found to have an adverse effect on what you are trying to accomplish.
Physical disconnect ranks high as one of the reasons why relationships fail as well. Your significant
other is sexually dissatisfied and instead of dealing with the issue with their mate, they are tempted to
wander and go outside the relationship to satisfy those urges. One solution to conquer and overcome
this issue is to establish an open line of communication so that your partner can be aware of your
wants and desires and hopefully help in fulfilling them for you.
In addition, relationships often fail because either one or both partners are not being honest with
themselves, their mate or with the relationship as a whole. A lot of times people get involved with one
another and assume that what they want and desire out of a relationship is the same thing that their
partner wants as well. This could be anything from wanting to be in a monogamous relationship and
not knowing that the

Animal welfare officers make on average $23.90/hr in Canada, although this depends on location and
education level. Although the education requirement for applying to be an animal welfare officer is a
high school diploma, university degrees in an animal related field are beneficial and will result in a
higher starting wage. There is a certification program for animal welfare officers, however, this is not
required to become an animal welfare officer.
The Skills Required
Most of the technicals required are animal handling. Communication skills are very important for
animal welfare officers because they work with people who are already at high levels of emotional
stress and are potentially dangerous. They need to be able to very level headed, have good
interpersonal skills and be very empathetic to others. Most importantly the need to have a love of
animals. Professionally the working conditions can be very difficult as they must be able to deal with
potentially dangerous animals and people, they also have to witness animal cruelty which can be very
emotionally taxing. (Cite all of this

Fashion And Fashion Design
Has man exceeded the power given to create? Gluttony and lust for material objects had lead to
overconsumption leaving a world full of accessible goods behind, human production processes and
man made products has invaded the natural world; having an catastrophic impact on the environment
as well as causing ethical strains within communities. This essay aims to explore the contribution
fashion design has to perpetrating dark times as well as highlighting the critical environmental and
ethical crisis that has emerged from the consequences of human action. With the exploration of new
product innovation and alternative natural renewable resources, this essay also endeavors to highlight
the pressing need for a more enhanced sustainable future. Design plays a crucial role in product

Goldfish Metabolic Rate Lab Report
The null hypothesis for this experiment is that there is no statistically significant relationship between
the metabolic rate of goldfish and their exposure to light. The alternative hypothesis is that goldfish
exposed to ambient light will exhibit a higher metabolic rate compared to goldfish that are exposed to
dark light.
Results
Overall 86 goldfish (N=43) were used in the experiment. Altogether, 43 trails (2 fish per trial) were
conducted in order to track the metabolic rates of the fishes. Differences in metabolic rates (with
respect to light exposure) were calculated by measuring the changes of oxygen concentration in the
water chambers where the fishes were placed. The change in oxygen consumption averaged
445(mgO_2)/(hr∙Kg) when the fishes were exposed to ambient light and 377(mgO_2)/(hr∙Kg) when
the fish were exposed to dark light. Across the trails, the average oxygen consumption as oxygen lost

For the most part, goldfish exposed to ambient light experienced a higher change in oxygen
consumption than fishes that were exposed to dark light. However, because the p value for our
experiment, 0.211, fell below the recommended 0.05 threshold, we were unable to report a statistically
significant difference in the metabolic rates of goldfish exposed to different lighting conditions
(ambient vs. dark). Because it is likely that the differences in average oxygen consumption between
the two conditions (exposure to ambient light vs dark light) were a result of chance, we were unable to
reject the null hypothesis stating that there is no statistically significant relationship between the
metabolic rate of goldfish, and its exposure to light. With this being said, previous studies have
reported exposure to light to be an important factor governing the biological cycle of fish (Choi et al.

The Dangers Of Nuclear Bombs
Nuclear Bombs
What would happen if the most powerful countries in the world started a nuclear war? In society,
many people will agree that nuclear bombs are a threat to humankind and the all life on Earth. To this
day, several countries still have nuclear bombs and weapons. This can affect the world because
countries with nuclear weapons have even threatened to use these against other countries, which could
start a third, more deadly, world war.
The last World War (WW2) was the only war that actually used nuclear weapons. Nuclear weapons
are categorized into two major types of bombs. The first is called an atomic bomb and it can kill
thousands of people, but the hydrogen bomb is even worse and can kill ten times the number of living
things. When a nuclear bomb explodes, it either releases uranium or plutonium atoms, smoke, dust,
and soot. As this happens, the bombs pollute the ground, food, water and air. When the chemicals get
into large and small bodies of water, it can destroy the ecosystem and hurt people who eat food grown
or raised in the area. Even when there is wind, it is still dangerous. The wind can carry the chemicals
which travel for miles and can be destructive to habitats. Nuclear bombs can kill living things almost
instantly, but if the people near the explosion don t die, they usually suffer from radiation, very severe
burns, flying glass and deadly debris. When the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima,

An Ironic Reversal of Professional Perspective in Medical Ethics
The movie The Doctor captures the shortcomings of a mechanized health care industry. Dr. Jack
McKee is a gifted, however, arrogant, and self centered surgeon who cares little about the emotional
welfare of his patients; treating them with a callous attitude, and examining them as specimen. Out of
the four models of physician/patient relationship, Dr. McKee exemplified the Paternalistic model, the

It also goes against the requirement of a medical committee member to promote education regarding
medical ethical matters and also to assess and provide patient care by demonstrating a respect for
patient rights. However, despite Dr. McKeen s callous attitude towards his patients, I believe he would
follow the principle of beneficence, a supporting theory about the value of avoiding harm and helping
others. Although he treated his patients in a lackadaisical manner, he demonstrated his gifted surgical
abilities with the ultimate goal to heal them. Even when he is diagnosed with cancer and scheduled to
receive radiation therapy, he s concerned about missing his scheduled surgeries and continues to go to
work despite his sickness. In the beginning of the movie, Dr McKee was an egoist. Even though he
performed the kind actions of operating on people and saving their lives, he was only acting in his
own interest. He didn t actually care about the patients. On his way walking into a scheduled
operation, he stated A surgeon s job is to cut. Caring is all about time. I d rather cut straight, and care
less. He believed he had a right to his own interest, which was to do his job, and care only about his
interests, which is exactly how egoists think. Towards the end of the film, he turns into

Baby Boomers Analysis
As a Millennial, I ve found that trying to achieve the same sort of success as previous generations is
completely impossible. Our country has changed so much, and we ve come to realize we re not as
invulnerable as we thought. Baby Boomers had a dream instilled into them by their parents that
prosperity and the American Dream are accessible to anyone determined to reach it. And they got all
they wanted, plus more. So my generation was asked to reach for the stars because we could get more
than the American Dream. We could get our dreams. But after the real estate market crash, a line was

We, more than any other age, want stability. No one wants to see that in us because it s a tough fight to
get it, but we want to self manage and have financial certainty. Houses mean something entirely
different to us than to others. We don t see houses as necessities or obligations. We don t take
mortgages lightly or settle into some place we re not happy with. The real estate market has some new
customers who are taking their choices seriously. To us, that house has to be earned, and it s also an
investment. We don t feel an obligation to settle into that house; we want it because of what it offers
us. That house can grant both stability and financial security. Making an investment like that is
something that overjoys a generation still shaken from the uncertainty of the market crash. When we
make investments, we become adults. There is nothing scarier or more exhilarating than stepping
away from an age where we can t control the world around us into being at the wheel. The housing
market may not have the same customers as it once did, but these customers are ones who aren t
taking any decisions lightly. Stepping from dorm to apartment to renting and, finally, to owning a

Nick Sousanis Second Chapter Unflattening
The well known cliché goes a picture says a thousand words and this is an idea that Nick Sousanis
explores in his book Unflattening . The saying implies that images are able to speak volumes, more
than words could ever express. Images convey different messages to people and in doing so evoke
thoughts and emotions that words often cannot. Individuals interpret images based on their own ideas
and experiences, therefore an image can be seen in many different perspectives creating diverse
meanings from one single image. Since there are so many different perspectives it is easy to see how
Sousanis images can convey several different concepts.

It is easy to see how the image can convey many different concepts based on perception of
individuals. When looking at the image it is typical for the eye to be drawn to the bottom right corner
because of the dark sketch lines. While reading through the limited amount of text provided it guides
the reader into the concept is wants to convey. However, by the use of images one can get many
different thoughts and ideas without the restriction of words. The language used on this page discusses
the QUEST FOR REASON , THE FEAR OF THE UNKOWN , and DEPTHS OF LIGHT , and these
ideas can all be seen solely through the image. The light is in the center of the page and from my
perspective this can be seen as the earth being the center of universe. The lightness and darkness in the
opposite corners of the pages can be seen as heaven and hell. The light line hatching in the top corner
can be perceived as heaven because heaven is often seen as being above and correlated with lightness
and white. Looking at the opposite corner of the image, there is dark shading that can be seen as a
representation of hell. Hell has always been associated with darkness and as being below. This is just
one interpretation of this image, while I see the message of heaven and hell being conveyed from this
picture other people may see another concept. In

Semi-Automatic Rifles Pros And Cons
According to uslegal.com (n.d.), a semi automatic rifle is a type of rifle that fires a single bullet each
time the trigger is pulled. These rifles are also commonly known as self loading rifles or auto loading
rifles. In March of 1989, a rifle import ban was enforced on the importing of semi automatic rifles by
President Bush. The rifle import ban was enforced to halt the circulation of foreign semi automatic
rifles. Mainly AK 47 s, as it was considered communist and was used in a mass shooting killing 5
children.
Uzi s, AK 47s, and other rifles were placed under strict review of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and
Firearms (B.A.T.F) to decide its hunting and sporting purposes. This came as a shocking change of
opinion, as; the President had already announced his objection to the banning of the weapons. The
rifle import ban permitted the continuation of selling and the production of the American AR 15 as
well as the sale of both Israeli and Chinese semi auto rifles that were already inside U.S. warehouses.
At this time, the Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy William Bennet moved to

Genealogy In Nietzsche s Search For Meaning
Reading the works of Nietzsche it becomes clear that he calls for individuals to denounce the
assumptions held to form their basis of reasoning. Nietzsche is a deeper thinker since he puts all
values held into question and attempts to bring up a different perspective other than the traditionally
held assumptions. He succeeds to untangle the assumptions held on various things by differentiating a
thing and the meaning of such a thing. As such, he succeeds to lure individuals unravel the Inherent
meanings in things. For Instance, individuals have one meaning attached to punishment, that is, the
punishing act and the reason necessitating the punishment. According to Nietzsche, the punishing act

As such, his perspective shows that nothing is absolute, sacred or true given that the society s morality
are not responsibilities given by God but rather an evolving arbitral code set by humanity. The only
constant thing is the struggle for power and a virtue of a powerful will, freedom from resentment,
hatred and a bad conscience. This clearly indicates that in his genealogy Nietzsche s main goal is to
put society s value for morality into question. For instance, he bases his argument on the society s
morality coming out of hatred and resentment towards anything healthy, strong or powerful.
Therefore, Nietzsche perceives the society s morality as being destructive to the health of the future

Josh Brolin did particularly well as the Mad Titan, Thanos.
Cinematography: I am no expert at this, but I thought the cinematography for this film was good.
Unlike previous movies, this one had the fights between the hero and the antagonist in varied, colorful
set pieces, from the capital city of Wakanda, to the desolate landscape of Titan.
Thanos: Apart from Killmonger, and Loki, most of the MCU s villains have been forgettable, since
almost all of them want to destroy/rule the world because... they are evil. However, Thanos was
portrayed as a sympathetic villain, he did not view himself as evil, but as a hero who is forced to do
heinous deeds to save the universe from the fate that befell Titan.
Post Credit Scene: Along with the obligatory Stan Lee cameo, fans of the Marvel Cinematic universe
also expect to see a post credit scene hinting at another movie. This movie is no exception, though it
seems as if the wait for this revelation was a bit longer than it usually was. As usual, the scene did not
disappoint, and it foreshadowed the Captain Marvel movie, which from what I heard, will take place
in the 1990s.

how a seed grows when you water it. But if the seed does not receive water anymore, it will die like
how the horrors and negativity of the concentration camps killed Elie s faith. After the analyzation of
the novel Night by Elie Wiesel the reader can visualize the horrors and slaughtering of millions of
innocent people that occurred in concentration camps. Throughout the book, Elie explains how his
faith in God was tested, as he was forced to leave his home, separated from his family, observe how
much was being killed all around him, and witness children being thrown into huge ditches of fire,
alive! Elie felt abandoned, betrayed, and deceived, the God that he knew was a loving and giving God,
it was then he started to doubt his existence. Elie tries to hold on to his faith but the childhood
innocence has disappeared from within him and he loses his faith completely in God, whom he
thought would rescue him from his suffering.
In the beginning of the book, Elie s faith in God is so strong that he never questioned the existence of
God. He wanted to get closer to God by studying the Jewish texts more. One day I asked my father to
find me a master who could guide me in my studies of Kabbalah (4). Elie s father rejects this idea and
says he is too young, but even after his father said no, Elie goes to Moshe the Beadle and learns the
revelations and mysteries of the

Song Comparison Essay The road of life can be a bumpy one. There will always be twists and turns
that can alter a person s life, changing the course of their destination. Even though life can be tough,
you have to draw upon your inner strength in order to persevere. The songs, Move Along by The All
American Rejects and Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) by Greenday sing about this message. The
lyrics in their songs have many literary devices such as personification, repetition, symbolism and
juxtaposition. The personification will help you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The theme is how when you have a tough, important moment in life, you have to make the best of it
and move along. An image for these lyrics will help you connect to the theme because you can see
what is going on and a picture will help you understand something more. In my next paragraph, I will
be talking about how the singers used repetition to emphasize certain points. In these songs, lyrics
were repeated. Repetition draws the listener s attention to particular words or phrases. In the song,
Time of Your Life, the singer repeats the line, It s something unpredictable, but in the end it s right. I
hope you had the time of your life. This line is repeated throughout the song multiple times. The
singer is emphasizing the fact that anything can happen when you make your choice but in the end,
you have to just relax and be happy. He wants the audience to really understand it. In the other song,
the line, Move along, move along. Just to make it through The singer is repeating the term, Move
along because that is the main message in this song. It is to move along when things seem bad. The
singer wants the audience to really get the message and to feel good when they relate to this song.
These lines connect to the theme because they are talking about moving on in tough situations and
being satisfied with the outcome. These lyrics were emphasized well. Besides repetition, the singers
also used symbols and juxtaposition to

Othello, The Duchess Of Malfi, And Paradise Lost
Elizabeth Andrews
May 9, 2015
Professor Earley
Final: Long Essay
While reading Othello, The Duchess of Malfi, and Paradise Lost there is a noticeable theme
throughout all of them. Throughout each of the three works there is at least one character that is
considered to be a villain. A villain is a cruel character whose evil actions and motives are important to
the main plot of the story. The three characters that are considered to be villains include: Iago from
Othello, Bosola from The Duchess of Malfi, and Satan from Paradise Lost.
In the play, Othello, written by William Shakespeare, the character that shows the most characteristics
of a villain is Iago. The downfall of Othello is caused by Iago who is a manipulative liar. Iago is the
main villain of the story and manipulates Othello and most of the other characters. Iago s manipulative
personality allows him to advance in his evil scheme leading to Othello s downfall. Iago worked
alongside Othello and Cassio, Othello s lieutenant, for a long time and used his knowledge of their
character to manipulate them. When Iago said, And I of whom his eyes have seen the proof. At
Rhodes, at Cyprus, and at other grounds he claimed to have been witness to both Othello and Cassio s
weaknesses (I.i.25 26). He knew that he had the ability to manipulate them, and this foreshadowed his
use of knowledge to ruin them. Iago is cruel and took pride in manipulating Othello and Cassio. Iago
formed close relationships with many of his fellow

Love And Love In Shakespeare s Sonnet 130
Shakespeare wrote many sonnets about love, largely in a traditional sense. However, his 130th sonnet
takes a different theme: a relationship that is found through true friendship and love despite physical
beauty standards. Shakespeare uses contrasting values, natural and divine imagery and contradictory
statements to show that love is much more than just physical attraction.
Sonnet #130 is filled with nature imagery: Shakespeare mentions the sun, coral, snow and roses, all
things that are largely deemed beautiful by society both then and now. In these images, he paints the
idea of what a beautiful woman should look like, how the woman he thinks of loving looks like she s
from a fairy tale. The nature images are described as being absent from the woman Shakespeare loves,
rather than being given an opposite, implying that the woman he loves is by no means someone he
cannot love or look upon. Though many interperet the mistress of this sonnet to be an ugly woman due
to some other lines of the poem, this absence of an opposite seems to suggest otherwise: she is not an
ethereal beauty, simply a normal, plain looking woman who the sonnet s speaker loves despite how
she may look.
Shakespeare uses more imagery in this sonnet than just things found in nature. Though there are only
two instances of it, he also uses imagery of the divine. It occurs once in the last quatrain ( I grant I
never saw a goddess go ), and once in the poem s final couplet ( And yet, by heaven, I think my

Situational Irony of how the soldier talked about Lavender
They told stories about Ted Lavender s supply of tranquilizers, how the poor guy didn t feel a thing,
how incredibly tranquil he was (O Brien,19).
So when Ted Lavender got shot in his head, he got his mind blown for the last time, now the phrase
mind blown has many meanings, it depends on the context and how it s used the definition of it is
when something shocking happens and the mind isn t able to comprehend it, or whenever Lavender
would smoke marijuana to calm himself down because he gets scared, and then there s its literal
meaning. In the novel the author, O Brien uses this to show a sense of humor to show that Lavender
got his mind blown literally, how he couldn t feel a thing and was ..incredibly tranquil... The author
uses Situational Irony to discuss the tragedy of death, but also include a sense of humor to encircle the
tragedy of the book.

Modern History Conflict in Indochina
How significant was the Tet Offensive in achieving a communist victory in Vietnam by 1975? The Tet
Offensive had a major impact upon the outcome of the Second Indochina War, particularly due to the
fact that it powerfully swayed public opinion in America of the Vietnam War. The American publics
option of the Vietnam War beforehand had been strongly leaning toward their involvement in favor of
conscription. However after the devastating loss of the Tet offensive much exposure was not put onto
the war effort and the losses incurred. Many stated that Tet was fruitless and futile, this is also partly
due to the fact that there had been increased opposition to the use of conscription in the American
mainstream media. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

assessment of leadership can be a significant factor as to why America eventually lost the war.
Essentially the leaders of the North, Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Ngygen Giap were prepared to fight
for as many years as necessary to unify North Vietnam during Dien Biem Phu and the Second
Indochina War. On the other hand, historical evidence clearly shows the RVN leadership had been
unstable since Diem, as stated by Harrison Within a decade, Diem had created a dictatorship so

to understand the Vietnamese and nature of war in the South, as a result led to Americas failure in

Copyright Infringement Essay
Copyright Infringement Research Paper We are well into the year of 2011 and technology is
continuing to advance and a faster and faster rate. As technology advances there continues to be more
of an opportunity for things to go wrong. The ability of our society to obtain information has been
becoming as easy as it has ever been. I simple line into the google search bar and you are looking at
millions upon millions of lings and opportunities to attain information. With this source and hundreds

Hard goods pirates also use the Internet to sell illegally duplicated DVDs through auctions and

such as peer to peer file trading networks, Internet chat rooms, and newsgroups, has an ever increasing
negative impact on cultural industries, it is also argued that curtailing this phenomenon limits the right
of access to information, knowledge and culture (4). The problem in trying to prevent digital copyright
infringement is tied up in the problem of regulating the Internet an almost impossible feat, considering
the World Wide Web today comprises more than 100 million individual Web sites. Regulators have
been severely tried in recent years with the rise of peer to peer networks, with the most infamous
being Napster. The brainchild of a 19 year old college student, Napster launched in 1999 and
revolutionized the way music sharing was conducted online. However, with such a quick rise to
success comes the inevitable problems; in this case, the problems arose in the form of the Recording
Industry Association of America (RIAA) and copyright lawsuits. While users of Napster saw nothing
wrong with sharing music, the RIAA, which represents the four major music labels, saw the situation
quite differently. By late 2000, the courts had ruled that Napster must restrict access to copyrighted

  • 2. Harry Hopkins Contributions Abstract This paper will explore three important aspects that Harry Hopkins achieved in this social work career. Fist the path he took in working within the social work field, second the contributions he made and lastly how his work could inform individuals working in the practice of a social worker. Utilizing eight different articles, this paper will explore the life of Harry Hopkins and how he had an account of the impact on public policies here in the United States, and how no other social worker has had the influence in changing the direction of American social policy. Social work is interwoven in the whole fabric of the public health movement, and has directly influenced it at every point (Hopkins, 1926). A review of social work s past and current efforts can highlight its contemporary value. Hopkins believed that there was a creative understanding in face to face relationships. • 3. Essay on Class Conflict in the Great Gatsby The main, reoccurring theme in F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby, is the theme of society and class. Three separate social classes are portrayed in the novel: old money, new money, and the lowest class known as no money. The old money class refers to those who come from families that have fortunes. New money families are those who made their money in the Roaring Twenties and often lavishly display their wealth. In the novel, the growing tension between the old and the new money classes are shown through Gatsby and Tom s struggle over Daisy. The novel s narrator, Nick Carraway, begins the novel by sharing advice his father gave him when he was younger: do not criticize others because all the people in this world ... Not Gatsby, I said shortly. He was silent for a moment. The pebbles of the drive crunched under his feet. Well, he certainly must have strained himself to get this menagerie together. A breeze stirred the gray haze of Daisy s fur collar. At least they re more interesting than the people we know, she said with an effort. (6.98 105) By juxtaposing Gatsby and Daisy, Fitzgerald distinctly reveals the idiocy of the new money class. Daisy comes from an environment with true values and stiff behavior, and when placed in West Egg she finds herself unable to live with such negligence. The theme of this novel, the hollowness of the upper class, is similarly portrayed at the very end of the novel after the death of Gatsby. The day before Gatsby s funeral, Nick goes around in an effort to assemble more people to attend the services. He goes to New York to try to get Meyer Wolfsheim, a friend of Gatsby, to attend the ceremony. Wolfsheim reflects on his friendship ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Story Map Of Home The story Map of Home gives insight into the lives of a family that has been pushed out of their home that now must travel to different country s as refugees. One of the points of conflict in the book is based on the us vs them dichotomy which is based on the notion of fear of others and fear of reaction. This situation has caused a fracture between the refugees and the country s taking them in. In this paper one will also see how this conflict relates the situation in Paris and also argue the position of whether it is right to justify action based on fear. This is problematic because this process deems ignorance, fear and pride as an acceptable way of approaching a situation when it should be approached with kindness, and respect ... The attack has fractured the relationship between nations and refuges which has caused a dire problem for [refugees] a person who flees for refuge or safety, especially to a foreign country, as in time of political upheaval, war (Dictionary.com) all over the world. Many countries are closing their doors on refugees based on the notion of fear and what if. For example, What if we get bomb or threatened? What if the refuges are terrorist? This notion is based on fear and fear of others, which instills a fear of rejection to those looking for help. The most difficult part about this conflict is that the questions being asked are important to the security of the country. Most of the people that are refugees are running away from the same terrorist group that attacked Paris. When we react with an emotion reaction like fear and enclose oneself from the problem we are rejecting the refugees and we are falling in to the us vs, them dichotomy. • 6. Literary Analysis Of Emily Dickinson s To A Heart In Sea ID #1 Futile the winds To a Heart in port Done with the Compass Done with the Chart! The second stanza of Emily Dickinson s Wild Nights Wild Nights! , portrays a sense of romantic longing between the two lovers. In this poem, there is a nautical type of scenery being displayed, especially in the last two stanzas. This is true because, the second stanza references: compasses, charts, seas and ports. The first line states, Futile the winds , futile meaning pointless. The narrator is stating that no matter how hard the winds blow, or how rough the seas get, her love is strong and she is not going anywhere. When the narrator says, To a Heart in port , it kind of creates a setting of a lovers embrace. Every woman desires to be sought after and longed for. The narrator is no longer searching for love, because she has found love, therefore her heart is in port or it is docked. The narrator talks about how she is done with the compass and with the chart in the last two lines. She is giving up all control for this person, she is free to love and to be loved. She does not need a compass or a chart because she is not looking for anything anymore. She has found her love and her voyage is now over. She has found her Wild Night . ID #4 they don t fit into little petty places, these hips are free hips. Lucille Clifton s homage to my hips, is all about women s empowerment. Throughout the poem, we see this reoccurring symbol of hips. Clifton is talking about women s hips in general, not just hers. The hips in this poem symbolize how strong and powerful women are. How women can accomplish anything if they set their mind to it. These three lines talk about how not every woman has a perfect body and how each of them are different. These hips do not fit into society s standards for women. These hips are different, not perfect, but they are beautiful in their own way, they don t fit into little petty places. In the poem it says, these hips are free hips which explains how women are free to make their own decisions. They are free to have whatever kind of body type they want, without being shamed for being different. Clifton uses the imagery of the hips to show how women are huge role models for ... Beyond these factors, there is evidence of a pathophysiological role for inflammation and oxidative stress in CKD and its complications [2]. These two events are prominent features of CKD and its complications in humans [3,4,5,6,7]. Increased oxygen radical formation was found in CKD, in the presence of a reduced antioxidant defense [8]. Patients suffer from chronic microinflammation and infections [9]. Gum Arabic (GA) is derived from exudates of Acacia senegal or Acacia seyal trees. It consists of a mixture of polysaccharides (major component) plus oligosaccharides and glycoproteins [1,2]; however, its composition can vary with its source, climate and soil. Sudan is the world s largest producer, followed by many other African countries. It readily dissolves in water to form solutions characterized by low viscosity. This allows its use in various applications [3]. Gum Arabic was evaluated for acceptable daily intake for man by the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives since 1969 [5]; however, Sudanese people in Western Sudan had been using it for long time without limitations. It is indigestible to both humans and animals, not degraded in the intestine, but fermented in the colon to give short chain fatty acids, leading to a large range of possible health benefits [6]. • 10. John Locke s The Second Treatise Of Government Classical liberalism values the rights and freedoms of the individual, as well as the ability to have limited government. John Locke s The Second Treatise of Government embraces fundamental parts of the ideology, including self interest, consent of the governed, as well as equality between citizens. With these principles being demonstrated, it allows Locke to be seen as the father of Classical Liberalism. Self interest is one of the most important factors of classical liberalism, and within the Second Treatise we are shown this through Locke s views on private property. The purpose of conforming to a society as opposed to staying in the peaceful state of nature, is to make laws... regulating and preserving property, employing the force of the community in the execution of such laws, and in the defense of the commonwealth from foreign injury, and all this for the public good. • 11. Comparison Of Sikhism In The Fullerton Gurdwara The phrase Sikh refers to disciple in Punjabi, or those who see themselves as disciples or followers of Akal Purakh, the ten Sikh Gurus, and the sacred scripture, the Adi Granth. Sikhs worship Sri Guru Nanak; Guru Nanak was born in 1469 to a higher caste merchant family in a village which is near modern day Lahore, Pakistan. At this time a lot of India was under the Muslim control including the Punjab. The story behind Guru Nanak is that he went to bathe in the Vein River and during this bath he completely disappeared. All of his family looked for him but he could not be found, but three days later he came out of the water and declared, There is no Hindu, there is no Muslim. This statement plays a huge part in this religion because of the two opposing religions, Hinduism and Islam, surrounding Sikhism. Therefore, the ideology behind Sikhism is that there is one God for all religions and that as a Sikh you must follow the writings and teachings of the ten gurus. My goal for this research paper is to compare and contrast what I observed at the Fullerton Gurdwara to what the book, the lectures, and other educational resources say. In the following paragraphs I will discuss clothing etiquette, prayer, and modern Sikhism as observed in the Fullerton Gurdwara. To start off, when first coming to a Gurdwara I was told to wear traditional clothing such as a shalwar kameez which consists of a long shirt called a kameez and wide, loose pants called a salwar and you must also bring ... For instance, there are actually different types of insomnia that are categorized by how long you stay awake, if lack of sleep last less than a week then it is considered Transient Insomnia, if it last one to three weeks its Short Term Insomnia, and if it last longer than three weeks it s called Chronic Insomnia. The melting point was set to start at 75°C and increase at a rate of 2°C per minute. The point at which melting started and finished was recorded. The melting ranges were then compared to that of the possible compounds and a preliminary determination of compound identity was made. A mixed melting point analysis (a small amount of the unknown and authentic sample were mixed and the melting point was taken again) was used to verify the compound. If the melting point was significantly depressed, another possible compound was chosen and a new mixed melting point analysis was performed. Private Peaceful Comparative Essay The novel Private Peaceful and the short story The Best Christmas Present in the World are both by Michael Morpurgo, however the author is not the only thing that connects the two. When looking at these stories you realise just how similar they are, mainly the characters, plot and many of the themes. However, these stories are also very different, and the main characters face challenges that are different to each other yet hold just as much importance. Genocide and war share many common causes such as desperation brought on by a declining economy. Experts on the Central African Republic believe that current events point to a possible repeat of the Rwandan genocide of 1994, in which over one million people were killed. Many think that U.N. involvement is necessary to stop the escalating violence in the Central African Republic; others believe that the dismal track record of the U.N. in similar situations makes it unlikely that they could be effective in the current crisis. There have been a number of genocides outside of Africa in the 20th century to include: the holocaust of World War II brought on by Adolf Hitler in which approximately six million Jews were killed, the Holodomor in the Ukraine under Josef Stalin with a Ukrainian population reduction of as much as 25 percent, and the massacre in Cambodia under Pol Pot with around two millions Cambodian deaths. Within Africa, from April 6 to July 15, 1994, a barbaric act of genocide took place in Rwanda before the very eyes of the troops of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda. Hundreds of thousands of old people, women, children, and even tiny babies were hunted down and cut to pieces in every corner of this land of terror. According to the article Emotional Detachment in Relationships, by Michael Schreiner, emotional detachment is more common among males than women where a man tends to shut down, stop talking and distance himself when there is a difficult conflict situation going on with no resolution in sight. One way to get through this emotional detachment is to not poke or prod your partner to force them to become emotionally attached, but rather give them some space and time to let things calm down. Poking and prodding has been found to have an adverse effect on what you are trying to accomplish. Physical disconnect ranks high as one of the reasons why relationships fail as well. Your significant other is sexually dissatisfied and instead of dealing with the issue with their mate, they are tempted to wander and go outside the relationship to satisfy those urges. One solution to conquer and overcome this issue is to establish an open line of communication so that your partner can be aware of your wants and desires and hopefully help in fulfilling them for you. In addition, relationships often fail because either one or both partners are not being honest with themselves, their mate or with the relationship as a whole. A lot of times people get involved with one another and assume that what they want and desire out of a relationship is the same thing that their partner wants as well. This could be anything from wanting to be in a monogamous relationship and not knowing that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Goldfish Metabolic Rate Lab Report The null hypothesis for this experiment is that there is no statistically significant relationship between the metabolic rate of goldfish and their exposure to light. The alternative hypothesis is that goldfish exposed to ambient light will exhibit a higher metabolic rate compared to goldfish that are exposed to dark light. Results Overall 86 goldfish (N=43) were used in the experiment. Altogether, 43 trails (2 fish per trial) were conducted in order to track the metabolic rates of the fishes. Differences in metabolic rates (with respect to light exposure) were calculated by measuring the changes of oxygen concentration in the water chambers where the fishes were placed. The change in oxygen consumption averaged 445(mgO_2)/(hr∙Kg) when the fishes were exposed to ambient light and 377(mgO_2)/(hr∙Kg) when the fish were exposed to dark light. In society, many people will agree that nuclear bombs are a threat to humankind and the all life on Earth. To this day, several countries still have nuclear bombs and weapons. This can affect the world because countries with nuclear weapons have even threatened to use these against other countries, which could start a third, more deadly, world war. The last World War (WW2) was the only war that actually used nuclear weapons. Nuclear weapons are categorized into two major types of bombs. The first is called an atomic bomb and it can kill thousands of people, but the hydrogen bomb is even worse and can kill ten times the number of living things. When a nuclear bomb explodes, it either releases uranium or plutonium atoms, smoke, dust, and soot. As this happens, the bombs pollute the ground, food, water and air. When the chemicals get into large and small bodies of water, it can destroy the ecosystem and hurt people who eat food grown or raised in the area. Even when there is wind, it is still dangerous. The wind can carry the chemicals which travel for miles and can be destructive to habitats. Within this novel Mitchell first shows and introduces this chapter with the fact that poor old Mr.Timothy Cavendish has just been mugged by three teenage girls. How horrid this scene may be and how embarrassing of an act this must be for an aging man just trying to live his everyday normal life, which is where we run into another problem; Cavendish refuses to believe and accept that he is in fact becoming older and has always been a coward in terms of defending himself in any way whatsoever. Due to the simple fact that Timothy Cavendish is easy bait, easily intimidated, and an easy target he somehow gets himself sucked up into some sort of sadistic rest home for the elderly, which consists of all locked doors, no windows, plus a very authoritative and evil head nurse who seems to be out to get Cavendish for anything she possible can at every waking hour. Meanwhile, to help safeguard non spuriousness, a set of control variables will be incorporated in the data analysis section. Measures Employee training revolves around building strong teams, establishing rules, and connecting with the company. To measure this, a previously used composite measure of questions would be used that ensures content validity. These questions will have five response options that go from strongly agree (6) to strongly disagree (1) (Chiang, Back, and Canter 2005: 105). Some questions have the answers of: always (5), usually (4), sometimes (3), rarely (2), never (1) (Chiang et al. 2005: 105 106). The responses to each of questions are then averaged to create a scale, and a higher value means the more impact employee training has had on the individual. This approach is preferable because there will be an understanding of the impact training has had on the thoughts of employees. There are no drawbacks. Questions for Employee Training (Chiang et al. 2005: 105): 1. The company clearly communicates its goals and strategies to me? 2. My responsibilities are clear. 3. I feel motivated to see the company succeed. 4. I received enough employee training to feel connected to the company s mission. 5. Do you feel that employees are recognized as individuals? But if the seed does not receive water anymore, it will die like how the horrors and negativity of the concentration camps killed Elie s faith. After the analyzation of the novel Night by Elie Wiesel the reader can visualize the horrors and slaughtering of millions of innocent people that occurred in concentration camps. Elie felt abandoned, betrayed, and deceived, the God that he knew was a loving and giving God, it was then he started to doubt his existence. Elie tries to hold on to his faith but the childhood innocence has disappeared from within him and he loses his faith completely in God, whom he thought would rescue him from his suffering. In the beginning of the book, Elie s faith in God is so strong that he never questioned the existence of God. He wanted to get closer to God by studying the Jewish texts more. One day I asked my father to find me a master who could guide me in my studies of Kabbalah (4). In my next paragraph, I will be talking about how the singers used repetition to emphasize certain points. In these songs, lyrics were repeated. Repetition draws the listener s attention to particular words or phrases. In the song, Time of Your Life, the singer repeats the line, It s something unpredictable, but in the end it s right. I hope you had the time of your life. This line is repeated throughout the song multiple times. Throughout each of the three works there is at least one character that is considered to be a villain. A villain is a cruel character whose evil actions and motives are important to the main plot of the story. The three characters that are considered to be villains include: Iago from Othello, Bosola from The Duchess of Malfi, and Satan from Paradise Lost. In the play, Othello, written by William Shakespeare, the character that shows the most characteristics of a villain is Iago. The downfall of Othello is caused by Iago who is a manipulative liar. Iago is the main villain of the story and manipulates Othello and most of the other characters. Iago s manipulative personality allows him to advance in his evil scheme leading to Othello s downfall. Iago worked alongside Othello and Cassio, Othello s lieutenant, for a long time and used his knowledge of their character to manipulate them. When Iago said, And I of whom his eyes have seen the proof. At Rhodes, at Cyprus, and at other grounds he claimed to have been witness to both Othello and Cassio s weaknesses (I.i.25 26). • 41. Love And Love In Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 Shakespeare wrote many sonnets about love, largely in a traditional sense. However, his 130th sonnet takes a different theme: a relationship that is found through true friendship and love despite physical beauty standards. Shakespeare uses contrasting values, natural and divine imagery and contradictory statements to show that love is much more than just physical attraction. Sonnet #130 is filled with nature imagery: Shakespeare mentions the sun, coral, snow and roses, all things that are largely deemed beautiful by society both then and now. In these images, he paints the idea of what a beautiful woman should look like, how the woman he thinks of loving looks like she s from a fairy tale. The nature images are described as being absent from the woman Shakespeare loves, rather than being given an opposite, implying that the woman he loves is by no means someone he cannot love or look upon. Though many interperet the mistress of this sonnet to be an ugly woman due to some other lines of the poem, this absence of an opposite seems to suggest otherwise: she is not an ethereal beauty, simply a normal, plain looking woman who the sonnet s speaker loves despite how she may look. Shakespeare uses more imagery in this sonnet than just things found in nature. Though there are only two instances of it, he also uses imagery of the divine. It occurs once in the last quatrain ( I grant I never saw a goddess go ), and once in the poem s final couplet ( And yet, by heaven, I think my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The brainchild of a 19 year old college student, Napster launched in 1999 and revolutionized the way music sharing was conducted online. However, with such a quick rise to success comes the inevitable problems; in this case, the problems arose in the form of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and copyright lawsuits.
