It was an enlightening experience to be able to shadow a physician assistant now as a
physician assistant student compared to my previous experiences as a pre physician
assistant student. I could appreciate and understand more the expectations and
demands that comes with the profession. Similarly, how effective a physicianassistant
may be at meeting the core competencies in the physician assistant profession. While
shadowing Pediatric PA Nick Constantino, I found he meet all the competencies in
our profession, but the two that stood out to me the most were patient care and
medical knowledge.
During the time I spent shadowing PA Constantino, I was able to notice how well
rehearsed he was with medical literature. We saw about eight patients who presented
with varying complaints such as spontaneous nocturnal leg pain, foreign body in ear,
wellness checks, possible celiac disease, refill for medications, change of
medications, and cold like symptoms. I was particularly interested on how he handled
the case with the spontaneous nocturnal leg pain. According to the mother, the child
would wake up in the middle night with bilateral leg pain that was soothed with
warm baths and Motrin. The child had not sustained any injuries and after the second
episode of leg pain he was taken to the Emergency Room to be evaluated.

written. They tell us the story of women s struggle and survival throughout history, in

longing to escape the expectations that social norms impose is evident with just about
any story. In this paper, I will compare the similarities and differences, and show a
strong relationship between Hans Christian Anderson s, The Little Mermaidand the
movie Boyz n the Hood, written and directed by John Singleton.
The Little Mermaid, is a historical fairy tale written in the year 1836. During this
time in history, women were expected to live a certain way. The ideal woman was
submissive; her job was to be a meek, obedient, loving wife who was totally
subservient to the men around her (Citation 1). This is clearly the case in this
story in many instances from beginning to end. The little mermaid is expected to
abide the rules of the sea. She is expected to follow the path of her sisters who are
content with living under the sea and is to live in her own little plot in the garden
just like everyone else, but she wasn t like the rest of her fellow mermaids. She had
always had an infatuation with the surface, always longing for her 15th birthday
when she would be able to rise to the surface and see the world of humans. Once she

In Yasunari Kawabata s book the old capital, there is a profounding amount of
beauty which is described. One could even argue that the story of Chieko is of
secondary importance to describing the beauty of Kyoto. In every part of the book
there always seems to be a reference to nature and the seasons . In most instances,
nature as well as the traditional Japanese festivals in the noveloften symbolize the
parallel of a new modernizing japan and the old traditional Japan. However, more
importantly, the seasonal imagery parallels the story of Chieko herself and the
moods she is feeling. It is no coincidence that kawabata s first chapter is called the
flowers of spring while the last chapter is called winter flowers. As the title of the
first chapter suggests, the beginning of the novel is filled with spring imagery.
Spring in Japanese culture is an interesting time because it symbolizes new life. It s
also the time of year that the cherryblossoms begin to bloom. This sense of new life

There are some dog breeds that are discriminated against unfairly. For example, Pit
Bulls and associated mixed breeds are known to have targets on their backs. This is
thanks to vague and poorly founded Breed Specific Legislation or BSL . I am
against Breed Specific Legislation, in my opinion, it a product of the miseducation of
the public at large. As well as, a misrepresentation of entire breeds by a few dogs who,
due to circumstances beyond their control acted out in a violent way. These actions
unfortunately, have often brought harm to a human or other living creature.
When you turn on your television you may see a dog food commercial with a happy
puppy with its head tilted to one side, you may also see a car commercial where
the boy and the happy go lucky dog grow up together as dad drives the same car
year after year. Rarely if ever is the dog in such a scenario of a Bully or Wolf
Hound breed. This is often attributed to the fact that these particular canine types
look a certain way, exhibit certain behaviors, or maybe they just are not as cuddly
as other dog breeds. For reasons as silly and illogical as this, many dogs, and
specifically many Pit Bulls are put to death, often without cause.
