Reflection Of Schindler s List
It can be quite difficult to describe how you view the world around you. A way to do just that could be
to analyze how you view a specific film or piece of literature, describe how it makes you feel, and see
what that says about you as a person. As such, I will analyze my view on the movie, Schindler s List ,
one of my favorite movies. The movie is about Oskar Schindler who uses World War 2 as an
opportunity to make money as a manufacturer. He is a very smart and likeable businessman who
knows how to use his money and charisma to influence others. He manages to start his manufactory
near the Krakow ghetto and uses the inhabitants of it for cheap labor. Schindler changes throughout
the film, starting as selfish and ending up very selfless. His accountant, also a jew, takes hiring as his
responsibility and uses it to save people from being shipped to concentration camps. Schindler is
initially mad at this revelation but soon comes to realize the good it does and allows this to continue
and expand, demonstrating how he changes. Towards the end of the movie, he ends up saving over
eleven hundred jews, and his only regret that brings him to tears is that he feels he could have saved
more. This film demonstrates to me that people are responsible for their own actions, evil is inherent
in this world, and distrust in authority can be good and necessary. I believe people are responsible for
their own actions. I came to believe this for several reasons. When I was growing up, it was common
for my parents to say things to this effect. You get what you deserve and you get out what you put in
were both similar in that regard. The idea was that your actions produce a net result that affects you
and potentially others. My father usually said this to me in regards to being a decent person or playing
football. He drove me to be a better athlete but said I was responsible to work hard. He told me that I
am a result of the decisions I make, that I become my actions. I had observed this for myself in the
real world and came to believe it outright. Personally, I noticed that when I worked harder at school I
got better grades. When I practiced football more, I saw the results and became better. When I
workout, I feel better

Conflict Causes
Conflict Causes
Conflict is a process in which one party perceives that its interests are negatively affected by another
party (Kinicki 2009). This is a normal and natural part of any work place. When it occurs, there is a
tendency for morale to be lowered and decreased productivity. However, conflict can be useful, it can
push conflicting parties to grow, communicate and urge the flow of new ideas. For this to happen,
leaders need to understand why conflict occurs and take the correct steps to resolve it. According to
psychologists Art Bell and Brett Hart, there are eight common causes of conflict within the workplace;
conflicting resources, conflicting styles, confliction perceptions, conflicting goals, conflicting
pressures ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A patient had been sent for exam with an incomplete referral. When questioning the patient prior to
the exam, the technologist determined that there was no billable indication for the exam. The referring
physician s office was closed for the day and could not be contacted to remedy the situation. When the
technologist discussed the situation with the supervisor, she was told just make something up and do
the exam. Dr. X is refers to us often and we do not want to lose his business . In this particular
instance the technologist stuck to her values and explained the situation to the patient, who agreed to
reschedule the exam. As a leader is important hold your employees to your same morals. Try not to
ask your team to do anything that goes against their values or yours as a leader.
Unpredictable Policies: Policies and procedures are established to create boundaries for acceptable
behavior and outline expectations. If there is a change to those policies and that information is not
properly decimated to the staff, confusion and conflict can occur. As a leader, if you fail to apply
policies consistently to the staff, the inequality in treatment can cause dissention in the workplace.
There was one employee in my organization that could do no wrong in the eyes of the supervisor. He
was tardy or regularly absent from work, let left work for other technologist to complete and the
quality of his work was poor. Other team members became aware of the lack of

Revolt Of The 18th Century
At the end of the 18th century, there were many revolts in the Spanish Americas, but these
insurgencies didn t have the intention to make these regions independent, in fact they fought corrupt
officials and the implementation of the Bourbon reforms, in the name of the king. These revolts didn t
evolve into movements of independence because of the remoteness of the cities that they occurred in
and the magnitude of the size of the Spanish Americas, the Bourbon reforms weren t set in place at the
same time in all corners of the territory, so people did not rise up against them simultaneously, there
were deep social divisions at the time, and the political theory and ideas that these movements had
weren t those of independence. Although this was true, a few decades later during the 1810 s and 1820
s this Spanish domain, was calling for independence. This desire came about thanks to French
invasion of Spain and the capturing of the king which brought many changes to the area. These
changes include, the creation of juntas to maintain dominance in the absence of the king, which gave
the americanos a slight touch of sovereignty, the creation of the Constitution of 1812 which allowed
the freedom of the press, and made Spain a constitutional monarchy, and the return to power of
Ferdinand VII and the rejection of these changes which caused social divisions between loyalists and
insurgents. First, geography played a part in preventing the revolts from the late 18th century to turn

How People Make Economic Decisions
How People Make Economic Decisions Paper
ECO/212
How People Make Economic Decisions The economic decision an individual, household, or even a
firm makes has a major impact on the economy as a whole. These decisions affect the supply of a
good or service, the demand of that good or service and ultimately the price of that good or service.
This paper will focus on how individual decision making affects an economy, how understanding the
marginal benefits from the marginal cost affects economic decisions, and the three major types of
economic systems. The main principle of individual decision making is utility. Utility is the enjoyment
or satisfaction people receive from consuming goods and services. Another important factor ... Show

3 31). A key factor in economics such as scarcity, which is defined as a situation in which unlimited
wants exceed the limited resources available to fulfill those wants, effects how much money an
individual will spend or how many goods a country can produce. Since the majority of people have a
limited income, their decision to buy what they want and need is limited due to budget constraints.
Because resources are limited, a country must decide what goods it can produce to help progress the
economy as a whole. The country has to determine the opportunity cost of that activity of producing
that good or service. Opportunity cost is the highest valued alternative that must be given up to engage
in an activity (Hubbard O Brien, 2010, pp. 3 31). The three major economic systems are centrally
planned economy, market economy and mixed economy. Centrally planned economy is an economy in
which the government decides on how resources will be used. Market economy is an economy in
which individuals, households, and firms participating and interacting in markets determine how
economic resources are used. Mixed economy is primarily a market economy because most economic
decisions are a result of the interaction of buyers and seller in markets. However, the government
plays a significant role in the allocation of resources (Hubbard O Brien, 2010, pp. 3 31). By
understanding that economics is a group of

Social Representation Of Dracula
The legend of the vampire has emerged countless times within human imagination over the past few
centuries. The first available representation of the mythical creature in prose fiction can be found in
John Polidori s The Vampyre (1810). It was not until eight decades later that Bram Stoker popularized
the existence of this figure with the publication of Dracula in 1897. The folklore of the vampire has
come a long way since and can be found in today s popular media more frequently than ever before.
However, with due course of time, the representation of the creature has taken alternate routes and
today s vampires are noticeable different socially and physically from their predecessors. One
effective path to trace this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Punter and Byron reinforce this claim by stating that, Dracula is associated with disruption and
transgression of accepted limits and boundaries (231). It is relevant to consider the aggressive
behavior of Dracula towards his victims while he is on the prowl to fulfill his thirst for blood,
especially with Lucy and Reinfield and the image of female vampires feeding on young children
(Lucy). This bolsters the notion that the depiction of vampires in early portrays was violent. Also, as a
sexually powerful creature, he preyed on men and women to fulfill his desires. The sexual
representation of vampires is also evident from Ernest Jones early analysis of folktales, including the
vampire. He proceeded to conclude that vampire s and their counterparts, namely the Churel (India)
and the Drud (vampires that prey exclusively on other vampires), do not confine themselves to
sucking blood; rather in the unconscious mind, blood is commonly associated with semen (106). It
would be inaccurate to associate these references to anything but the erotic nature of older folktales.
Even in Dracula, the Count is portrayed as a seductive aristocrat who sucks on the blood of men and
women, alike. The homosexual aspect of vampire tales is also apparent in Carmilla (Joseph le Fanu
1872). As pointed out by Punter and Byron, Laura experiences intense erotic advances from the
female vampire, to the extent of being puzzled

Narrative Essay About Canoeing
Canoeing was always something I had wanted to do. Years ago, my family and close friends would go
canoeing down the beautiful Cedar River in Osage, but I was always too young to go along. This past
summer, while sitting in the shop with my dad and brother, on a hot and humid day, my dad suggested
that we should go canoeing down the Upper Iowa River. I jumped up with excitement as I was so
happy that I would finally get to go canoeing.
When Sunday came around, my mom, dad, Theo, and I headed to Cresco to go on my first little
canoeing trip. Before we could just jump in the river with a canoe, we had to register. Upon arriving at
the registering table, I could see the long line of anxious kids, like me, and frustrated parents, most
likely like mine, standing in line to register. We spent a good twenty minutes standing in the hot rays
of the rising sun over the opened, grassy area, near the banks of the river just trying to register to get a
canoe.
After finally being able to register, my family along with other strangers, piled into a van pulling a
rusty rack carrying at least twelve canoes and kayaks each. I wasn t sure our canoes would make it to
the river entrance after seeing how they weren t even strapped down as we were flying around curve
after curve on a dusty gravel road. All the windows in the van were open making the ride to the
entrance a little unpleasant. We could feel the warm, dusty air blowing at us from all directions.
After surprisingly arriving

Rebekah Thesis
Rebekah was domineering in a period when ladies were relied upon to be meek. This quality helped
her turn into Isaac s better half yet brought about inconvenience when she pushed one of her children
in front of the other.
Abraham, father of the Jewish nation, did not need his child Isaac to wed one of the agnostic
Canaanite ladies in the range, so he sent his worker Eliezer to his country to discover a spouse for
Isaac. At the point when the worker arrived, he implored that the right young lady would not just offer
him a beverage of water from the well, however offer to water his ten camels as well.
Rebekah came out with her water jar and did precisely that! She consented to leave with the worker
and turned into Isaac s significant other. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like her relative Sarah, Rebekah was additionally infertile. Isaac prayed to God for her and Rebekah
conceived twins.
They named the twins Esau and Jacob. Esau was conceived to start with, yet Jacob turned into
Rebekah s top choice. At the point when the young men grew up, Jacob deceived his older sibling into
offering his birthright for a dish of stew. Later, as Isaac was passing on and his vision had fizzled,
Rebekah helped Jacob swindle Isaac into blessing him rather than Esau. She put goatskins staring
Jacob in the face and neck to impersonate Esau s shaggy skin. At the point when Isaac touched it, he
blessed Jacob, supposing it was truly Esau.
Rebekah s double dealing brought on strife amongst Esau and Jacob. Numerous years after the fact, in
any case, Esau pardoned Jacob. At the point when Rebekah passed on, she was buried in the family
tomb, a cave close Mamre in Canaan, the resting spot of Abraham and Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, and her
daughter in law Leah.
Restlessness and absence of trust made Rebekah meddle with God s arrangement. She didn t consider
the outcomes of her activity. When we venture out of God s planning, we can now and again cause a
calamity we need to live

Nature Is A Product Of The Earth
Coastlines have always been something of interest throughout human history. We have built homes,
parks and even cities along them, but at what cost? Coastlines are not found in nature; they are
products of human initiative... (Gillis 99). This quote said by John R. Gillis brings up a very important
discussion. Are coastlines found in nature or have they been built into something we as humans
wanted them to be? When the quote is first read, it may be easy to say of course coastlines exist in
nature because they are nature. Although, when looking at it deeper one must ask what is the
definition of nature. Nature is defined as the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the
landscape, and other features and products of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without those piles and bulkheads those houses would not be able to be there. Which is an example of
changing nature to support the want we have to live on the coast. This was seen also in San Francisco
in the mid 1800 s.
The gold rush hit San Francisco in 1849 and in two years the town of 1,000 people turned into a large
coastal city of 25,000 people. The land behind the bay was mountains and was not a good fit for
expanding the city so they built near the shore. As the city grew throughout the years a need for more
land increased. They began to build into the bay and actual changed the outline of the coast entirely.
They used the steam paddy to fill in large areas of the San Francisco s coast. As they began to make
land and build on it numerous problems began to be discovered. Besides physically changing the
entire shoreline of San Francisco, it created man traps that were uneven fillings of land that would
sink when people stepped on them, it also created seismic hazards, which was seen by the 1906
Earthquake, and fire hazards, which was also seen by the Great Fire of 1851 (Dyl Lecture). This is a
perfect example of a coast being a product of human initiative. As the need for land increased along
the coast we as people had no problem changing the coast. J.D. Stillman was quoted in the Overland
Monthly in 1868 saying Men, in their

Table 2 shows the firm s unit costs for various items. Company management is committed to adopting
advanced manufacturing techniques such as benchmarking and just in time (JIT). The corporate
culture necessary for the success of such techniques is evolving and worker empowerment is already a
major program. In addition, workers are allowed several hours away from regular work assignments
each week for training programs conferring on budgets and work improvements and applying the
ABC system.
PERFORMANCE:
The company is profitable. However, management has become concerned about the profitability of the
customers in its three customer size categories large, medium and small. Different customers demand
different levels of support. Management has no basis for identifying customers that generate high
profits or to drop those that do not generate enough revenues to cover the expenses to support them.
Under the previous accounting system, it wasn t possible to determine the costs of supporting
individual customers. With the introduction of ABC, it now may be possible to determine customer
profitability. Table 3 shows how the administrative and selling costs are assigned and re assigned

Winslow Homer Accomplishments
Prior to my research on Winslow Homer, I had no knowledge of who he was as an artist. After reading
about Homer and his life, I learned that he was one of the greatest American painters of the 19th
century and had a big impact on the art world. I chose to do my paper on Winslow Homer because I
saw a few of his paintings of boats floating in the ocean and was blown away by the strokes he
produced. I expected him to be a rural European artist that mainly did landscapes, and while there is
some truth behind my assumption, I learned a lot about him that I didn t expect. Winslow Homer was
born February 24, 1836 in Boston, Massachusetts. His mother was an artist who mainly worked with
watercolors, which was why Homer began his career as an artist. At the age of 19, he began an
apprenticeship as a lithographer. In 1859, he began to study at the National Academy of Design in
New York City. For the most part, his education was very informal. He was mainly self taught,
learning many new ideas from his visits to European countries such as France and ... Show more

In order to become successful, Homer, and all other artists for that matter, have to dedicate their entire
lives to their work. I can t even imagine the hours he put into mastering the waves of the ocean or the
rugged terrain of the mountains he painted. I think the biggest points to take from the success of
Winslow Homer is that no matter what your dream is, with hard work and non stop dedication, you
can make it come true. Another thing that made me feel connected to him was his love for the rural
lifestyle. He tried to live in the big cities and be like the other artists, but it just wasn t for him. I think
that is why I feel so connected to his work, because I can relate the scenes to my personal life. In my
opinion, Homer is one of the most talented painters in history, and he deserves to be recognized for his

Monovision Lens
Contacts May Be The Best Way To Deal With Your Presbyopia If you have presbyopia, you may be
frustrated by the need to wear reading glasses. If your vision has always been good, it may be difficult
to get used to wearing glasses since you don t need to wear them all the time. You may constantly
misplace your glasses and never seem to have them when you need to read something. The solution to
this problem could be contact lenses. You can get contacts for your presbyopia, even if you have no
other vision problem. Here s how it works. Monovision Lenses Monovision contact lenses are one
option when you have presbyopia. With these, one lens is fitted for your far vision, and the other is
fitted for your close vision. Your eyes grow accustomed to the lenses and the result is you can see
clearly far away and up close because your eyes focus through the lens that s needed for what you re
doing. One disadvantage of these contacts is they may affect your depth perception. They might also
make it difficult for you to see well when you drive at night. Your optometrist can help you decide if
monovision lenses are right for you based on the results of your eye test and your lifestyle. One
advantage of going with monovision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The upper part of the lens is adjusted for your far vision, and the lower part is made to correct your

your presbyopia. It takes an adjustment period to get used to wearing bifocal lenses, but eventually,
you ll be able to adjust your vision from near to far without noticeable visual disturbances. Of course,
it is important to get the precise prescription for the lenses, which your eye doctor will do after
examining your eyes, the shape of your cornea, the amount of tears you have, and even your blink

Video Games As An Art Form Essay
A Case for Video Games as an Art Form Video games are a profound art form, incorporating trades
and mediums that span the artistic spectrum and beyond. To refute this is to ignore decades of rich
history, disregard hours of artful labor, and discredit the immeasurable devotion of many whom
worked to perfect this art form. Although video games may not suit every individual s tastes, one
cannot claim with credibility they possess no artistic merit. My awareness of this concept is
longstanding. From my most juvenile years, I have been captivated by this genre. To be a child and
hold in the palm of your hand what feels like a window to an exhilarating adventure in a limitless
universe is, in short, a riveting experience. However, the rush is not exclusive to children. This digital
magic is a far cry from tag and hopscotch. An enthralling escape from our mundane world entrances a
wide demographic, earning it a greater value than a mere downtime occupant. Video games have
developed a belittling reputation that they do not deserve. The voluntarily ignorant have unjustly
assigned them this connotation. Naturally, with any change, resistance occurs. The innovation that
video games introduced to the arts is unprecedented. That said, it is evident that not all artists are
willing to accept something so radically novel. Even so, why is it that any creator would not welcome
a new creative realm with less limits than ever before? There is but one discernable answer:

Deforestation In Japanese Essay
Japan as a whole is a disaster prone country, mostly due to its position on the Pacific Rim fault line,
but also because of climatic and seismic factors. However, for the purpose of this assignment I will be

inflict. Scientists are studying ways to predict the occurrence of quakes more accurately. Authorities
have put strict laws on the construction buildings so they are more resistant to quakes. Many local
governments have adopted an earthquake prevention plan that outlines the steps that should be taken
in case a major earthquake strikes, including the regulation of traffic, closing of banks and department
stores, and evacuation of residents. The Tokyo metropolitan government conducts periodic checks on
the safety of buildings in designated danger zones. At schools and workplaces, evacuation drills are
held several times a year.

Geothermal Well Case Study
A geothermal well was built beneath the Park Stradley, Seibert, and Smith Steeb dorms on south
campus of The Ohio State University. The project was put on by the Office of Student Life as part of
their South High Rise Project which took place before the 2012 school year. The geothermal system
was designed to sustain several hundred refrigeration tons of heat from the ground and is currently not
being used to capacity to heat the previously stated droms on south campus. Due to a surplus in the
system, Student Life would like to know if running piping to the Union and/or Drinko Hall would
have a reasonable return on investment. Objective The objective is to determine if the addition of
heating water pipes to the Union and/or Drinko Hall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The average usage assumption is based on the same number of people using the buildings. It could
increase if more people used the buildings, or decrease if they are used less. Taking people into
account by looking at expected incoming class size could give an alternate assumption. Other
economic factors that could increase costs on the project is inflation, maintenance cost, and a longer
than expected life of project, all of which would make the project have a lower return on investment.
All of these assumptions, if changed, can change the predicted MARR, and should be considered
when making the final calculations. Non Economic/ Financial Factors currently editing After
analyzing the economic factors, some non economic factors should also be considered in this
observation of the geothermal well. Installation of the piping could affect the movement of traffic
along the roads in that area and cause traffic jams. During the construction, some campus roads would
need to be closed and vehicles would be detoured to the main roads such as High Street, which could
delay students and faculty commuting to and from campus. Besides that, the Union is a center of
attraction at Ohio State as it has many dining venues, student services, and many large halls for events
and parking garages that are in high use. At the peak

Argument In The Minstrel Show And The Antidote
16) What is the brave new world that felons face when released from prison? What are the myriad
problems they face with housing, with employment, and with debt? Alexander states that once felons
are released from prison, they face a world of civic death. For example, an offender released into
probation would be ineligible for welfare benefits, food stamps, public housing among other federal
assistance programs. Additionally, as a citizen he might lose his right to vote. Alexander recounts the
struggle of a young man with a felony conviction, he had nowhere to go, so he asked for Section 8
assistance. Sadly, his application was denied. There is also the situation were poor families are

and why? Many families have to lie about the whereabouts of their imprisoned loved ones in order to
avoid the shame and stigma, additionally, many ex offenders refuse to check the criminal charges box
in employment applications because they are aware that if they do check the box, people will not
consider them past the stereo types. Perhaps one of the saddest coping strategies is the embracement
of their stigma, in which young people end up accepting what the public believes they are. Alexander
also argues that today s programs depicting gangsta rap or any gangsta related exploitation are not far
from the old minstrel shows from the Jim Crow era. Alexander explains that these programs cater to
white audiences, and almost always portray the usual stereotypes that people expect from black men.
Alexander goes on to suggest that society should embrace them instead of stigmatizing them. I have to
agree with her statements; nevertheless, as long as media continues to expose such inaccurate
depictions of black men, change cannot occur. People act on opinions, and if civil rights organizations

Parliamentary vs Presidential, Which is Better for the...
The parliamentary system is a system of democratic governance wherein the executive and legislative
branches of the government are intertwined and are lead collectively by a Prime Minister who must
have been proven to be competent and capable, as chosen among his party members. However, the
Philippines is currently under the presidential system, also a system of democratic but republican
governance, which is led this time by a president, and wherein there is a separation of powers between
the executive and the legislative. In the presidential system, people have the collective power to vote
for the president. On one hand, the similarities between the two systems can be summed up in one
word: democracy. This entails the basic standards of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another is that Filipinos have a culture of apathy and tend to use religion incorrectly and passively.
People depend on religion and settle for what s okay. In addition, the initial reaction of Filipinos to
change is resistance, and this is why the country does not necessarily progress, or at least, progress at a
continuous rate. Then, countries like Spain and Portugal only rode the economic tiger after they
realized that the only way to survive was change (3.Y). Plus, according to another critic, the
Philippines already had the experience of being under the parliamentary system during the time of
Marcos which only resulted in a People Power Revolution. So why should the country bother going
back to that? (4.Y) However, it was Marcos who envisioned a New Society or a Bagong Lipunan that
urged the poor and privileged to work as one for the country s economic goals through self realization.

Learning and Memory Essays
xxLEARNING AND MEMORY Learning is the process of gaining knowledge or skills through study,
experience or teaching. It is a process that depends on experience and leads to long term changes in
the possible behaviour of an individual in a given situation, in order to achieve a goal. Memory is a
property of the human mind. It describes the ability to retain information. There are different types of
classifications for memory based on duration, nature and retrieval of items. The generally accepted
classification of memory is based on how long you can remember an item or experience (memory
retention), and identifies three types of memory: sensory memory, short term memory, and long term

the exact role of the hippocampus, but agree that it has an essential role in the formation of new
memories about personally experienced events. Some researchers prefer to consider the hippocampus
as part of a larger medial temporal lobe memory system responsible for declarative memory. When a
long term, declarative memory is made, certain neuronal connections in the temporal lobe are
strengthened, and others are weakened. These changes are fairly permanent, however some may take

Foreign Policy-Making Process Model
1. Invent your own model Current system of the US foreign policy decision making process is best
defined by Hilsman s model. My model aims to offer a different approach to the existing policy
making process model. According to my model; the main actor in foreign policy decision making
process is the National Security Council (NSC) instead of the President of the United States. By
putting the NSC to the center of my model, I aim to balance the president s seemingly extreme power
in the foreign policy making process and prevent the destructive effects of internal conflicts and
rivalries among bureaucratic institutions to affect foreign policy decision making process. President s
status is second to the National Security Council, the President s ... Show more content on

However, it cannot be always a beneficial option for the US that its decision making process is led by
a one leading figure. There are good examples such as Franklin D. Roosevelt but conversely, there are
negative examples in the US foreign policy such as; George W.Bush and Barack Obama, which
shaped and applied erroneous policies that undermined the US role in the post Cold War international
system. The NSC s structure in Classic model is controversial for me. The NSC members are
designated by the president and this might allow unchallenged and without balanced foreign policy
strategies under crusader type task oriented leader such as George W.Bush. The congress can check
the president s appointments but this will also lead a slow down and can be regarded as a sign of
weakness by the possible international challengers of the US. In addition to this, the current role of the
NSC in Hilsman s model can also lead lack of coordination and open for bureaucratic rivalry under
presidents such as Barack Obama. As I stated above, bureaucracy s role in USFP is also too broad. In
Hilsman s model, bureaucracy is able to affect the decision making process and diminish the
effectiveness of foreign policy strategies due to inter institutional rivalry. People s role is quite limited
in this model with only election of the president. The public does not have any role to determine its
country s foreign policy staff. Although the congress can check the president s appointees, this usually
leads an administrative crisis and considered as a weakness by the challengers of the

Themes In Lord Byron s When We Two Parted
Lord Byron s When We Two Parted details the experiences of a man who has just been heartbroken by
someone who he thought would love him forever, but seemingly never loved him. He in that moment
realizes that nothing will be the same, as any time he hears the name of his former lover, he will be
struck with grief and regret, basking in the shame that he allowed them to hurt him so. Although When
We Two Parted can be used as a lens to glimpse inside the mind of someone who has just been
heartbroken, it can also serve as a mirror for Lord Byron s life and his change in outlook on ideas such
as infinity and the everlastingness of a promise.
Lord George Gordon Byron was born on January 22, 1788 in London with a twisted foot. He was
primarily raised destitute by his mother, the family fortune having been wasted by his father s
gambling affiction. While not officially divorced, his parents lived separately until the death of his
father in 1791, as they could not stand living in the same house. His mother enrolled him in the
Aberdeen Grammar School in 1798, where he began writing and developed a fascination with politics.
In that same year, he inherited the Barony of Byron of Rochdale in addition to the Byron family home
in Newstead after the death of his uncle. Unfortunately for Byron, not much money came with the
inheritance as well, as his uncle had also squandered the majority of it. In 1805, Byron enrolled in
Trinity College at Cambridge, and three years later had an

Emily Dickinson Paradox
Emily Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830, and died on May 15, 1886. During these 55 years,
she wrote nearly 1,800 poems. Very few of these poems were published during her life, most of them
only being discovered by her sister after Dickinson s death (Crash Course). Nearly all of her poems
are highly complex, either having allegorical qualities or contradicting themselves. In fact, Dickinson
s poetry was so contradictory that she has been regarded as the poet of paradox . Growing up, the poet
claimed to be haunted by the menace of death (Crash Course) and therefore wrote many poems about
death, immortality, and time. She also wrote a lot about religion, often going back and forth between
theism and atheism. She also wrote often about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dickinson was obsessed with the concept of death. While this probably was a consequence of her poor
mental health, it allowed her to imagine death in many different ways. For example in her arguably
most famous poem Because I could not stop for Death she sees Death as a suitor, taking her away as
his bride. Another notable example is in I heard a Fly buzz when I died : There interposed a Fly with
Blue uncertain stumbling Buzz (Dickinson). In this poem there are two interpretations of who this fly
could represent: God or Death. No matter who the fly represents, however, they still serve the same
purpose: to guide the narrator into a peaceful death. Another common theme in Dickinson s poems
regarding death is the value of sight. To Dickinson, sight often is an allegory for observation or life.
For example, in I heard a Fly buzz when I died the last stanza discusses the narrator looses sight.
Between the light and me And then the Windows failed and then I could not see to see (Dickinson). In
this stanza, the narrator discusses how the fly gets between them and their line of sight. At the very
end, there is a dash and nothing following it shows the sudden absence of thought that occurs after

Stoker s Use Of The Supernatural Appeal To Cinematic...
use of powers is Twilight, where each of its characters abilities exclusively resemble the vampire
produced in the novel. The use of the supernatural appealed to cinematic literature by providing a
balance between how the vampire looked and the attractiveness of dark power to popular culture. The
limits Stoker presented in the creature equally contributed to the prevailing influence Dracula had with
the modern vampire image. Stoker laid down a set of drawbacks the vampire had in his novel. For
Instance, Dracula is far less powerful in the daylight, has bloodlust which he is unable to control, has
no reflection, and must be welcomed into a house to go in. These limits made their way in modern
cinema. To support this, several parallels can

Cleft Lip Research Paper
Oral Clefts Leslie Adams West Coast University Abstract A lack of fusion from the nasal and
maxillary processes that form the upper lip is considered to a cleft lip (Damjanov, 2012). Cleft lip can
be from air pollution, nitrate intake from water, prenatal smoking, diabetes, and medications. Trisomy
13 and 18, Van der Woude syndrome, Velocardiofacial syndrome and Median facial dysplasia are
common syndromes that cleft lip is associated with (Venkatesh 2009). An increase of O3 can possibly
cause birth defects, if women were exposed to much to O3 during the first and second months of

This study was taken from an estimation of nitrate consumption, 3,300 cases had a defect while 1,121
were controlled cases without a defect (Brender, 2013, p. 1083). Previous associations observed
between birth defects and nitrates in drinking water were often observed at levels below the current
allowable maximum contaminant level for nitrate set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(Brender, 2013, 1083). Brender states, when nitrates are ingested twenty five percent of nitrates are
secreted in saliva, which increases the risk in the first trimester with mothers that are not in the control
group for cleft lip (2013, p. 1083). A significant linear trend was observed for only cleft lip in relation
to measure nitrates in drinking water among offspring of women who reported drinking municipal
water (Brender , 2013, p. 1086). It is a high possibility that the more nitrate intake women get the
higher of a risk it is for a cleft lip to occur in the child (Brender,

consistent with which one of the following behaviorist concepts?

that in this case she does not allow them to get drinks on their own and does not show them how to

or why not?
Ms. Patterson s decision not to allow students to get a drink or have water bottles in class is not a
reasonable. Like was said before, water is a basic need that humans need and also is the way that
students can be more awaken. In the book on chapter 11 we can see that classroom climate is the

  • 2. Reflection Of Schindler s List It can be quite difficult to describe how you view the world around you. A way to do just that could be to analyze how you view a specific film or piece of literature, describe how it makes you feel, and see what that says about you as a person. As such, I will analyze my view on the movie, Schindler s List , one of my favorite movies. The movie is about Oskar Schindler who uses World War 2 as an opportunity to make money as a manufacturer. He is a very smart and likeable businessman who knows how to use his money and charisma to influence others. He manages to start his manufactory near the Krakow ghetto and uses the inhabitants of it for cheap labor. Schindler changes throughout the film, starting as selfish and ending up very selfless. His accountant, also a jew, takes hiring as his responsibility and uses it to save people from being shipped to concentration camps. Schindler is initially mad at this revelation but soon comes to realize the good it does and allows this to continue and expand, demonstrating how he changes. Towards the end of the movie, he ends up saving over eleven hundred jews, and his only regret that brings him to tears is that he feels he could have saved more. This film demonstrates to me that people are responsible for their own actions, evil is inherent in this world, and distrust in authority can be good and necessary. I believe people are responsible for their own actions. I came to believe this for several reasons. When I was growing up, it was common for my parents to say things to this effect. You get what you deserve and you get out what you put in were both similar in that regard. The idea was that your actions produce a net result that affects you and potentially others. My father usually said this to me in regards to being a decent person or playing football. He drove me to be a better athlete but said I was responsible to work hard. He told me that I am a result of the decisions I make, that I become my actions. I had observed this for myself in the real world and came to believe it outright. Personally, I noticed that when I worked harder at school I got better grades. When I practiced football more, I saw the results and became better. When I workout, I feel better ... • 3. Conflict Causes Conflict Causes Conflict is a process in which one party perceives that its interests are negatively affected by another party (Kinicki 2009). This is a normal and natural part of any work place. When it occurs, there is a tendency for morale to be lowered and decreased productivity. However, conflict can be useful, it can push conflicting parties to grow, communicate and urge the flow of new ideas. For this to happen, leaders need to understand why conflict occurs and take the correct steps to resolve it. According to psychologists Art Bell and Brett Hart, there are eight common causes of conflict within the workplace; conflicting resources, conflicting styles, confliction perceptions, conflicting goals, conflicting pressures ... When questioning the patient prior to the exam, the technologist determined that there was no billable indication for the exam. In this particular instance the technologist stuck to her values and explained the situation to the patient, who agreed to reschedule the exam. As a leader is important hold your employees to your same morals. Try not to ask your team to do anything that goes against their values or yours as a leader. Unpredictable Policies: Policies and procedures are established to create boundaries for acceptable behavior and outline expectations. If there is a change to those policies and that information is not properly decimated to the staff, confusion and conflict can occur. As a leader, if you fail to apply policies consistently to the staff, the inequality in treatment can cause dissention in the workplace. There was one employee in my organization that could do no wrong in the eyes of the supervisor. He was tardy or regularly absent from work, let left work for other technologist to complete and the quality of his work was poor. Other team members became aware of the lack of ... • 4. Revolt Of The 18th Century At the end of the 18th century, there were many revolts in the Spanish Americas, but these insurgencies didn t have the intention to make these regions independent, in fact they fought corrupt officials and the implementation of the Bourbon reforms, in the name of the king. These revolts didn t evolve into movements of independence because of the remoteness of the cities that they occurred in and the magnitude of the size of the Spanish Americas, the Bourbon reforms weren t set in place at the same time in all corners of the territory, so people did not rise up against them simultaneously, there were deep social divisions at the time, and the political theory and ideas that these movements had weren t those of independence. Although this was true, a few decades later during the 1810 s and 1820 s this Spanish domain, was calling for independence. This desire came about thanks to French invasion of Spain and the capturing of the king which brought many changes to the area. These changes include, the creation of juntas to maintain dominance in the absence of the king, which gave the americanos a slight touch of sovereignty, the creation of the Constitution of 1812 which allowed the freedom of the press, and made Spain a constitutional monarchy, and the return to power of Ferdinand VII and the rejection of these changes which caused social divisions between loyalists and insurgents. • 5. How People Make Economic Decisions How People Make Economic Decisions Paper ECO/212 How People Make Economic Decisions The economic decision an individual, household, or even a firm makes has a major impact on the economy as a whole. These decisions affect the supply of a good or service, the demand of that good or service and ultimately the price of that good or service. This paper will focus on how individual decision making affects an economy, how understanding the marginal benefits from the marginal cost affects economic decisions, and the three major types of economic systems. The main principle of individual decision making is utility. Utility is the enjoyment or satisfaction people receive from consuming goods and services. Another important factor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 3 31). A key factor in economics such as scarcity, which is defined as a situation in which unlimited wants exceed the limited resources available to fulfill those wants, effects how much money an individual will spend or how many goods a country can produce. Since the majority of people have a limited income, their decision to buy what they want and need is limited due to budget constraints. Because resources are limited, a country must decide what goods it can produce to help progress the economy as a whole. The country has to determine the opportunity cost of that activity of producing that good or service. Opportunity cost is the highest valued alternative that must be given up to engage in an activity (Hubbard O Brien, 2010, pp. 3 31). The three major economic systems are centrally planned economy, market economy and mixed economy. Centrally planned economy is an economy in which the government decides on how resources will be used. Market economy is an economy in which individuals, households, and firms participating and interacting in markets determine how economic resources are used. Mixed economy is primarily a market economy because most economic decisions are a result of the interaction of buyers and seller in markets. However, the government plays a significant role in the allocation of resources (Hubbard O Brien, 2010, pp. 3 31). By understanding that economics is a group of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Social Representation Of Dracula The legend of the vampire has emerged countless times within human imagination over the past few centuries. The first available representation of the mythical creature in prose fiction can be found in John Polidori s The Vampyre (1810). It was not until eight decades later that Bram Stoker popularized the existence of this figure with the publication of Dracula in 1897. The folklore of the vampire has come a long way since and can be found in today s popular media more frequently than ever before. However, with due course of time, the representation of the creature has taken alternate routes and today s vampires are noticeable different socially and physically from their predecessors. One effective path to trace this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Punter and Byron reinforce this claim by stating that, Dracula is associated with disruption and transgression of accepted limits and boundaries (231). It is relevant to consider the aggressive behavior of Dracula towards his victims while he is on the prowl to fulfill his thirst for blood, especially with Lucy and Reinfield and the image of female vampires feeding on young children (Lucy). This bolsters the notion that the depiction of vampires in early portrays was violent. Also, as a sexually powerful creature, he preyed on men and women to fulfill his desires. The sexual representation of vampires is also evident from Ernest Jones early analysis of folktales, including the vampire. He proceeded to conclude that vampire s and their counterparts, namely the Churel (India) and the Drud (vampires that prey exclusively on other vampires), do not confine themselves to sucking blood; rather in the unconscious mind, blood is commonly associated with semen (106). It would be inaccurate to associate these references to anything but the erotic nature of older folktales. Even in Dracula, the Count is portrayed as a seductive aristocrat who sucks on the blood of men and women, alike. The homosexual aspect of vampire tales is also apparent in Carmilla (Joseph le Fanu 1872). As pointed out by Punter and Byron, Laura experiences intense erotic advances from the female vampire, to the extent of being puzzled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Narrative Essay About Canoeing Canoeing was always something I had wanted to do. Years ago, my family and close friends would go canoeing down the beautiful Cedar River in Osage, but I was always too young to go along. This past summer, while sitting in the shop with my dad and brother, on a hot and humid day, my dad suggested that we should go canoeing down the Upper Iowa River. I jumped up with excitement as I was so happy that I would finally get to go canoeing. When Sunday came around, my mom, dad, Theo, and I headed to Cresco to go on my first little canoeing trip. Before we could just jump in the river with a canoe, we had to register. Upon arriving at the registering table, I could see the long line of anxious kids, like me, and frustrated parents, most likely like mine, standing in line to register. We spent a good twenty minutes standing in the hot rays of the rising sun over the opened, grassy area, near the banks of the river just trying to register to get a canoe. After finally being able to register, my family along with other strangers, piled into a van pulling a rusty rack carrying at least twelve canoes and kayaks each. I wasn t sure our canoes would make it to the river entrance after seeing how they weren t even strapped down as we were flying around curve after curve on a dusty gravel road. All the windows in the van were open making the ride to the entrance a little unpleasant. We could feel the warm, dusty air blowing at us from all directions. After surprisingly arriving ... Like her relative Sarah, Rebekah was additionally infertile. Isaac prayed to God for her and Rebekah conceived twins. They named the twins Esau and Jacob. Esau was conceived to start with, yet Jacob turned into Rebekah s top choice. At the point when the young men grew up, Jacob deceived his older sibling into offering his birthright for a dish of stew. Later, as Isaac was passing on and his vision had fizzled, Rebekah helped Jacob swindle Isaac into blessing him rather than Esau. She put goatskins staring Jacob in the face and neck to impersonate Esau s shaggy skin. At the point when Isaac touched it, he blessed Jacob, supposing it was truly Esau. Rebekah s double dealing brought on strife amongst Esau and Jacob. Numerous years after the fact, in any case, Esau pardoned Jacob. At the point when Rebekah passed on, she was buried in the family tomb, a cave close Mamre in Canaan, the resting spot of Abraham and Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, and her daughter in law Leah. • 9. Nature Is A Product Of The Earth Coastlines have always been something of interest throughout human history. We have built homes, parks and even cities along them, but at what cost? Coastlines are not found in nature; they are products of human initiative... (Gillis 99). This quote said by John R. Gillis brings up a very important discussion. Are coastlines found in nature or have they been built into something we as humans wanted them to be? When the quote is first read, it may be easy to say of course coastlines exist in nature because they are nature. Although, when looking at it deeper one must ask what is the definition of nature. Nature is defined as the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the landscape, and other features and products of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without those piles and bulkheads those houses would not be able to be there. Which is an example of changing nature to support the want we have to live on the coast. This was seen also in San Francisco in the mid 1800 s. The gold rush hit San Francisco in 1849 and in two years the town of 1,000 people turned into a large coastal city of 25,000 people. The land behind the bay was mountains and was not a good fit for expanding the city so they built near the shore. As the city grew throughout the years a need for more land increased. They began to build into the bay and actual changed the outline of the coast entirely. They used the steam paddy to fill in large areas of the San Francisco s coast. As they began to make land and build on it numerous problems began to be discovered. After reading about Homer and his life, I learned that he was one of the greatest American painters of the 19th century and had a big impact on the art world. I chose to do my paper on Winslow Homer because I saw a few of his paintings of boats floating in the ocean and was blown away by the strokes he produced. I expected him to be a rural European artist that mainly did landscapes, and while there is some truth behind my assumption, I learned a lot about him that I didn t expect. Winslow Homer was born February 24, 1836 in Boston, Massachusetts. His mother was an artist who mainly worked with watercolors, which was why Homer began his career as an artist. At the age of 19, he began an apprenticeship as a lithographer. In 1859, he began to study at the National Academy of Design in New York City. For the most part, his education was very informal. If your vision has always been good, it may be difficult to get used to wearing glasses since you don t need to wear them all the time. You may constantly misplace your glasses and never seem to have them when you need to read something. The solution to this problem could be contact lenses. You can get contacts for your presbyopia, even if you have no other vision problem. Here s how it works. Monovision Lenses Monovision contact lenses are one option when you have presbyopia. With these, one lens is fitted for your far vision, and the other is fitted for your close vision. Your eyes grow accustomed to the lenses and the result is you can see clearly far away and up close because your eyes focus through the lens that s needed for what you re doing. One disadvantage of these contacts is they may affect your depth perception. They might also make it difficult for you to see well when you drive at night. To refute this is to ignore decades of rich history, disregard hours of artful labor, and discredit the immeasurable devotion of many whom worked to perfect this art form. Although video games may not suit every individual s tastes, one cannot claim with credibility they possess no artistic merit. My awareness of this concept is longstanding. From my most juvenile years, I have been captivated by this genre. To be a child and hold in the palm of your hand what feels like a window to an exhilarating adventure in a limitless universe is, in short, a riveting experience. However, the rush is not exclusive to children. This digital magic is a far cry from tag and hopscotch. An enthralling escape from our mundane world entrances a wide demographic, earning it a greater value than a mere downtime occupant. Video games have developed a belittling reputation that they do not deserve. The voluntarily ignorant have unjustly assigned them this connotation. Naturally, with any change, resistance occurs. The innovation that video games introduced to the arts is unprecedented. That said, it is evident that not all artists are willing to accept something so radically novel. By putting the NSC to the center of my model, I aim to balance the president s seemingly extreme power in the foreign policy making process and prevent the destructive effects of internal conflicts and rivalries among bureaucratic institutions to affect foreign policy decision making process. Roosevelt but conversely, there are negative examples in the US foreign policy such as; George W.Bush and Barack Obama, which shaped and applied erroneous policies that undermined the US role in the post Cold War international system. The NSC s structure in Classic model is controversial for me. The NSC members are designated by the president and this might allow unchallenged and without balanced foreign policy strategies under crusader type task oriented leader such as George W.Bush. The congress can check the president s appointments but this will also lead a slow down and can be regarded as a sign of weakness by the possible international challengers of the US. As I stated above, bureaucracy s role in USFP is also too broad. In Hilsman s model, bureaucracy is able to affect the decision making process and diminish the effectiveness of foreign policy strategies due to inter institutional rivalry. • 31. Emily Dickinson Paradox Emily Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830, and died on May 15, 1886. During these 55 years, she wrote nearly 1,800 poems. Very few of these poems were published during her life, most of them only being discovered by her sister after Dickinson s death (Crash Course). Nearly all of her poems are highly complex, either having allegorical qualities or contradicting themselves. In fact, Dickinson s poetry was so contradictory that she has been regarded as the poet of paradox . Growing up, the poet claimed to be haunted by the menace of death (Crash Course) and therefore wrote many poems about death, immortality, and time. She also wrote a lot about religion, often going back and forth between theism and atheism. She also wrote often about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dickinson was obsessed with the concept of death. While this probably was a consequence of her poor mental health, it allowed her to imagine death in many different ways. For example in her arguably most famous poem Because I could not stop for Death she sees Death as a suitor, taking her away as his bride. Another notable example is in I heard a Fly buzz when I died : There interposed a Fly with Blue uncertain stumbling Buzz (Dickinson). In this poem there are two interpretations of who this fly could represent: God or Death. No matter who the fly represents, however, they still serve the same purpose: to guide the narrator into a peaceful death. Another common theme in Dickinson s poems regarding death is the value of sight. To Dickinson, sight often is an allegory for observation or life. For example, in I heard a Fly buzz when I died the last stanza discusses the narrator looses sight. Between the light and me And then the Windows failed and then I could not see to see (Dickinson). In this stanza, the narrator discusses how the fly gets between them and their line of sight. At the very end, there is a dash and nothing following it shows the sudden absence of thought that occurs after ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Stoker s Use Of The Supernatural Appeal To Cinematic... use of powers is Twilight, where each of its characters abilities exclusively resemble the vampire produced in the novel. The use of the supernatural appealed to cinematic literature by providing a balance between how the vampire looked and the attractiveness of dark power to popular culture. The limits Stoker presented in the creature equally contributed to the prevailing influence Dracula had with the modern vampire image. This study was taken from an estimation of nitrate consumption, 3,300 cases had a defect while 1,121 were controlled cases without a defect (Brender, 2013, p. 1083). Previous associations observed between birth defects and nitrates in drinking water were often observed at levels below the current allowable maximum contaminant level for nitrate set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (Brender, 2013, 1083). Brender states, when nitrates are ingested twenty five percent of nitrates are secreted in saliva, which increases the risk in the first trimester with mothers that are not in the control group for cleft lip (2013, p. 1083). A significant linear trend was observed for only cleft lip in relation to measure nitrates in drinking water among offspring of women who reported drinking municipal water (Brender , 2013, p. 1086). It is a high possibility that the more nitrate intake women get the higher of a risk it is for a cleft lip to occur in the child (Brender, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
