Music Vs. Art Education
Much too often in America today, modern music and art programs in schools are perceived to many as
extracurricular activities rather than important subjects that are vital to a student s learning and skill
development. The truth of the matter is that encouraging music and art education in public schools has
a much larger impact on student s grades, academic performance, and the economy than the majority
people realize. Within the next year city school budgets will be dropping by twenty five percent, and
despite the fact that music and art programs have been showing a dramatic contribution to student s
learning, this substantial drop in funding for the programs will lead to no dedicated money for art or
music programs (Mezzacappa). There is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Music and art are clearly not two subjects that schools today can afford to cut off funding for based on
this evidence. Music and art programs are responsible for increasing school attendance, which can
lead to being one of the most important things in a student s academic success in school. Students
have to attend school and be present in order to attain the information from their classes and teachers
if they wish to succeed. Better attendance means more students are in class, which means more
students are getting the information they need to excel from their teachers, which ultimately means
better grades and test scores for schools. As of today, arts are defined as core subjects in only twenty
six states in America (Mandel). If only twenty six states are treating art education as a core subject,
that means that twenty four states are currently neglecting art programs and not considering them
important to their student s education. If more states are educated on the importance of art programs
for young students, and the arts are defined as core subjects nationally, then there will be a noticeable
increase in academic achievement across the nation. Art programs have been proven to increase the
academic performance of student in schools, and until these twenty four states treat art as a core
subject, their students will continue to

Jews In Christendom
In the chapter the legal position of Jews in Christendom, Mark Cohen argues that the Jews did not
have rights under the Jewry law which was enacted by Christians. The Jewry law was complex
because it was enacted from different sources and changed over time. The Jewry Law was part of the
Theodosian Code, which mixed the tolerations and restrictions. Some laws in the Theodosian code
showed that the Jewish people were protected against the wanton assault. Later, under the Pope
Gregory s regulation, the Jews got more toleration. However, this period of toleration did not last long.
In the thirteenth century, Christians began to enhance the restrictions and exclusion to the Jews and the
protection to the Jews attenuated accordingly. The Conon Law and Secular Jewry Law also indicated
the negative attitude toward the Jewish people. The serfdom of Jewish people showed that they did not
have freedom, but they could earn freedom by unchallenging the authorities. The laws sometimes gave
protection to the Jews, but overall it was not fair to the Jews.
Cohen uses both primary sources ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The other sources I have read also point to the fact that the Jews were under Christian s control. The
Jews in the Medieval World shows some laws against Jewish people. For example, in Medieval
Spanish Law and the Jews, I have read one law which is that no Jews can hold any office or
employment by which he may be able to oppress Christians. It means that the Jews could not have the
privilege like they had before the God was crucified. Also, Church, State, and Jew in the Middle Ages
verifies the idea of Cohen s; the law number ten writes that it is not permissible for the Jews to buy a
Christian slave (65). It shows that in the medieval world, Jews could not have a Christian slave, but
the Christians could have a Jewish slave. It is an indication that the status of the Jews were lower than
that of

Gender Roles, Stereotyping and Gender Bias Essay
Gender affects every aspect of our life, from how we feel about ourselves and set our goals in
educational, recreational and work opportunities as well as the the nature and extent of our
participation in social and civic life. It has a strong impact on the way we practice our religion, the
way we dress, the way we express our feelings and the nature of all of our relationships with others.
This paper explores various facets of gender roles in order to understand this topic such as what role
males and females are expected to play in today s society, how gender roles are decided, affected and
exaggerated by stereotyping. Futhermore, this paper will draw attention towards how stereotyping
leads to gender biases.

An individual can either identify themselves with a subculture or social group which results in them
having diverse gender roles.
Today when a human baby is born the first question that is asked is Is it a boy or a girl? In human
culture the answer to this question is gigantically significant. This definition of femaleness or
maleness is the hypothesis of the society which assumes that the child who is born a girl will remain
female forever, while a boy will be a male. Gender roles are created by society and vary from society
to society as it takes all sorts to make a world. It does not matter where ever you are in the world its
just society which assigns the gender roles without even having enough knowledge about one s gender
identity. We living in 21st century but when it comes to gender role orientation we are in total chaos.
Gender identity :
Most non Western societies have three human genders man ,woman and third gender. In the West,
gender is consider to be the same as one s sex identity and there are only two valid options male or
female. Any gender variation , other than male or female gender is treated as disease or abnormalities

Assess the significance of the Great Depression to Germany.
The Great Depression meant different things to different groups of people. For people, it was a very
significant event during 1929 1934, because it was making them lose money. For economy, on the
other hand, it was a very significant event during 1929 1934, because it affected everyone. Ultimately,
the Great Depression had a greater impact on the economy during 1929 1934 because it affected
everyone.
The Great Depression was a very significant event because it had short term and long term causes on

A Myriad Of Battles Make Up War Essay
A myriad of battles make up war. Physical force is used to make an opponent inept to further
confrontation. War is thus an art of force to compel our enemy to do our will. In human history, the
20th century was the bloodiest, priciest century of warfare. Since 1914, there have been two world
wars, and several major revolutions such as the Russia Civil War, the Vietnam War, and the Gulf War
among others. According to Clausewitz, war is an inherent subset of politics where every military act
has political consequences. Politics is about power, and war is a violent expression of disagreements
and tensions arising among political groups. He argues that the intrinsic feature of war demonstrates a
clear relationship between war and politics. Time and again, the overpowered state regards the result
purely as a temporary evil for which a resolve may still be found in political situations. Whereas, it is
expected that militarily powerful states would win war against their weak adversaries, they have
sometimes failed in achieving their desired political outcomes. This essay endeavors to look into some
contributing factors to these failures and point out what strategies should do to increase their
likelihood of success.
First, poor choice of strategy and ill preparedness will affect war outcome. Heavily militarized states
lose war when they apply wrong strategy as opposed to their adversary. For example during the post
World War Two wars of independence in Indochina and Algeria,

Cognitive Perspective Sleep Deprivation
From a cognitive perspective sleep deprivation occurs because conscious thinking patterns and value
judgements that an individual perceives will or will not give them an expected outcome. The cognitive
perspective focuses on the way people perceive process and retrieve information. Cognitive
psychologists are interested memory, problem solving and decision making ((burton 2012_1) p19).
Unlike psychodynamics, cognitive perspectives emphasise present, conscious thinking and efficient
decisions making in lieu of more innate or unconscious processes. One view held by cognitive theorist

Essay On The Autobiography Of Malcolm X
The Autobiography of Malcolm X written by Malcolm X and Alex Haley is exactly what it sounds
like; the story of Malcolm s life.
The novel details Malcolm s early life in a racially discriminatory America. It expands on Malcolm s
difficulty childhood dealing with the death of his father and constant threats from the KKK. Malcolm
explains how he had to become a hustler to survive and finds himself in the Nation of Islam. The
Muslim community ultimately leads to his demise when he is shot down by a black Muslim at one of
his speeches. The tone of the book is full of passion and anger.
One of the themes in the autobiography is that views and people change. Malcolm changed his
identity multiple times throughout the book, he was Malcolm Little, Detroit Red, Satan, Malcolm X,
and he later on even developed a Muslim name. Not only that, Malcolm frequently changed his
philosophies in racism. At first he believed whites ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

himself to receive more respect. In addition, this shows Malcolm s hatred of his blackness and his self
suppression. By wearing this hairstyle he was trying to be something other than himself. He didn t
want to adorn black features and wished to be more like a white man and have the same privileges.
Another symbol in the book was Malcolm changing his last name from Little to X. Little was his slave
name and by changing it, he is declaring his freedom and deciding his own path. Furthermore,
Malcolm being release from prison and purchasing new items expresses his change of lifestyle. Him
leaving prison represents him leaving a different mindset behind and entering a new one. The purchase

their negotiating powers with healthcare plans and physician groups. The merger offered hope to
UCSF and Stanford by strengthening training programs and offering innovation plans as well as
financial support. B). What went wrong how they could have better prepared for merger
Unfortunately, a lot of things went wrong in the UCSF and Stanford merger which ultimately cost
them tens of millions of dollars. For instance, they were projected to save almost $300 million by
2020, when in reality they lost almost $90 million in two years time. It didn t help that reimbursement
rates were down at the time and patients were starting to move to lower paying plans. One notable
problem from the start was that USHC continued to hire and ended up with 1000 new employees.
Additionally, the IT costs for the year 2000 were astronomical to say the least, and the merger

How Does Goal Displacement Affect Society
Everyone has those times when they wonder about where they are in life and if they truly are doing
the best they are capable of. That statement there is one of the most glossed over issues in society. We
are always told what needs to be done, and how to get it done in good quality and time. Businesses
and people in general are relying more and more on goal oriented ideals, which isn t a bad thing,
except for when it becomes a straight routine and monotonous. Then we have the problem of goal
displacement. Goal displacement is the process that occurs when the rules become an end in
themselves rather than a means to an end and organizational survival becomes more important than
achievement of goals. (Merton, 1968). Goal displacement is becoming ... Show more content on

Whether that be as simple as a to do list or as complicated as a bucket list, or even having a budget to
go by. With more of people s lives becoming goal oriented we are seeing more rise in goal
displacement. Although, by far this is the hardest portion of society to tell signs because each person
has very different lives, and goes about them differently too. But just the same, the signs are there
when you look at the public on a larger scale. So many people have an outstanding debt, and yet, still
spend money making that debt greater. They don t have much of a choice considering the economy,
right? Wrong. The world may run on money, but there are programs that help manage debt while
people still go about their lives, and I am not talking about welfare. Welfare is where the goal
displacement is happening for people, because it s a federal program meant to help those in need until
they can get back on their feet, not to become their main income source. Don t let the rules become an
end for yourselves in pursuing a higher status or being a part of a better income bracket. Yes, it may
take time and seem unattainable, but time is all some have so why not use it for the good of yourselves

Leave The Past Behind
As the matter of fact, the racial diversity in the world is increasing day by day. However, people just
need to find out how to live comfortably with other of different history s background. It is true that the
process to overcome the past between nations and the discrimination between races takes an amount
of time. Nevertheless, people nowadays are opening a new chapter of life. In reality, people all over
the world now do not think about the painful past, the war or whatsoever anymore; instead, they start

now are living in the United States as 1.5 generation. The term is talking about young Vietnamese
people who were originally born in Vietnam but they grown up in America. And because these people
grew up in America, this group of people tends to have a little bit difference in the way of thinking or
to no longer look at the past to decide what to do for the future. In the essay Wride wrote: Generally,
they have not inherited their parents hatred of Communism or qualms about trading with a former
enemy. 1.5 generation is carefree about what happened to their parents, to their ancestry, relatives and
their people. Through several of 1.5 generation group s interviews, they are certain don t really want to

Major Field Delay In Major League Baseball
These new rules eliminate some of the major field delays, or at least they shorten them. The no pitch
intentional walks eliminate some of the hectic wild pitches or a batter swinging at a low ball. Instead,
team managers will just notify the umpires when a walk is the desired outcome, thus bypassing all the
in between. This is something that will overall save a lot of time, but it will also face the loss of some
excitement (Shaheen). Challenges on calls is one of the things that causes a lot of delays when it
comes to the Major Leagues. This season starts a time limit for managers to call replays and
challenges to a call. They now only have 30 seconds to decide to challenge and replay after a call is

One of the biggest being starting in extra innings a runner will be placed on second base, increasing
the possibility for the batting team to score in the given inning. This rule was thought up after
countless games going into extra innings. Most notably the game between the Boston Red Sox and the
New York Yankees, in 2015, where this game went into 19 innings, lasting well over six hours. There
are still so many games per season that go into extra innings, most of which stay between 10 and 13,
there are still the freak games that happen that get its way up to 19 innings. With each extra inning
adding an average of twenty minutes onto the game time, it becomes an extremely drawn out game
(Kopf). Dan Kopf discusses in his article Major League Baseball Is Testing a Rule to Start Extra
Innings with a Runner on Second , that the chances with a player added on second base in ending the
given innings a tie decrease by about 10 percent, which when it comes down to it, is a pretty big
percentage, and really anything helps when it is already a 10 or 11 inning game. With this addition,
though, the average game time will not be affected, the average extra innings game time will, and will
definitely speed up the time with a player already in scoring position (Kopf). Not only will it affect the
game time but it will also be better for the teams and the players. If a game goes into extra innings
there is the probability of running out of able pitchers, so a manager would either have to use pitchers
that are tired, and have the possibility of them hurting themselves or pull utility players to pitch, which
really is not ideal either (SI

The Effects Of Noxious Weeds On Rangeland
The Effects of Noxious Weeds on Rangeland
Seth Robbins
Noxious weeds can be very harmful to all aspect of rangeland. They can outcompete native grasses
and forbs causing a loss of forage to livestock and wildlife. A large number of noxious weeds have
been purposely introduced to the United States for purposes such as food, forage, fiber and decorative
ground cover. Programs have been created to help with the invasion of weeds. It s taken lots of time
and resources to get programs started up to be able to combat the effect of noxious weeds.
Noxious weeds have an adverse effect on the rangeland, if left unchecked they could overwhelm and
destroy all of the native grasses. A large amount of the noxious weeds that are causing issues today in

soil is present and after they have gotten their hold on the area it s very difficult to remove them form
it completely. Invasive species have been brought into the United States, some on purpose to help fill a

The Anglo-Saxon Justice System
The criminal justice system changed over time from the centuries during the Anglo Saxon time period
to the centuries of the Middle Ages. Justice transformed from a savage way of punishment to more

Justice System Overview
The way the Anglo Saxons handled legal justice in their time period could be described as primitive

Catcher In The Rye Analysis
The Catcher in the Rye is a novel written by J.D. Salinger that occurs around the 1950s. The story s
protagonist and narrator is Holden Caulfield, a seventeen year old white male, who journeys to various
places as he mourns over the death of his little brother, Allie. As a white male in a capitalist society, he
has tremendous amounts of privileges that allow him to get. However, as the novel progresses, Holden
describes his society as a place where honored human qualities are suppressed and capitalist ideals are
embraced. Throughout the novel, we see that capitalism, the social system based on the recognition of
individual rights, including property rights, in which all property is privately owned , destroys the
overall society for Holden and his generation (Rand). We can see Holden s critiques of capitalism in
chapter 17, when he and Sally, a compelling young lady that Holden has known for quite a long time,
are at the ice skating rink and they discuss their views on school. Holden views school as a feeding
ground for empty headed students to consume the ideals of. Holden explains, You ought to go to a
boys school sometime...It s full of phonies, and all you do is study... to be smart enough to be able to
buy a goddam Cadillac (Salinger 131). In making this argument, Salinger urges us to see Holden s
negative perspective on capitalism. Holden believes that schools have a direct connection to
capitalism because the teachings associate education with

The Preterm Birth And Autism
Prematurity and Autism have long time been thought to be linked. For reason such as late
development of preterm infants to the lack of adequate weight at birth. But, is it true that if a baby is
born preterm then they are destined to be autistic? In order to answer that question, we must first be
educated on preterm infants as well as the disorder of Autism. Not many people are educated on what
Autism is and even less are educated on the health and well being of premature babies. The purpose
for this research is to shed some light on both autism and premature birth as well as justify if there is
any connection between preterm birth and autism.
When one thinks of a baby born prematurely many imagine a tiny one pound baby barely able to live
even with all the ventilators and machines hooked up to it. They imagine a baby that will be under
weight and unable to leave the hospital for many months to come. Few will know the risk factors that
come along with being preterm, and even less will know that preterm babies are just as capable of
living healthy and normal lives. Every child develops in their own unique way, and your baby s
development will depend on a range of factors, including his genetic make up, and the environment
and influences around him (https://www.tommys.org).
For those who are unsure of what qualifies a baby as premature, a premature baby is any baby that is
born before 37 weeks gestation. Any baby born at 37 weeks or higher is considered full term. Late

like any law. If a company has 14 to 100 employees the compensation would be $50,000, for a
company that has 100 to 200 employees that amount would be $100,000 and if a company has over
500 employees the amount would be $300,000. An employee under the act can also choose to go to
trial if they feel that the compensation for their pain was not substantial enough (Civil Rights Act of
1991. (n.d.).
About 1972 there were 2 different types of sexual harassment rules that were passed with the acts of

if an employer tells an employee that in order to keep there job they would have to perform a sexual
act. The second rule is Hostile Work Environment, which is when verbal or

The Seven Years War And Florida s Independence
Florida
Ponce de Leon, who led the first European voyage to Florida in 1513, claimed Florida as Spain s
territory but the French were also interested in the territory, which led them to build Fort Caroline in
1564. Because Spain wanted to show France that they owned the territory, they destroyed Fort
Caroline in 1565 while building their own: St. Augustine. Not only were the French interested but
England as well. This resulted to the Seven Years War and the French and Indian Wars. In 1763, under
the Treaty of Paris, England gained Florida but soon lost it to Spain in 1783 after they recognized
Florida s independence. When the U.S. made the Louisiana Purchase from France, Florida s state was
unclear. There were many boundary disputes in Florida and in order to rebel against Spain s claim of

President Abraham Lincoln was a bold individual who acted on what he felt was ethically correct.
Despite congress being against his wishes, he did not waiver in what he believed in. This courage is
very difficult to find even to this day. This was a time when the country was at war. President Lincoln
had just lost his son Willie to typhoid in February of 1862. (CivilWar.Org Staff 2017) When
everything seemed to be going wrong President Lincoln committed an act that would make him

President Lincoln proposed the proclamation to his cabinet in 1862, but a majority of the members had
concerns that the decision to move forward would be too drastic. As stated before it was Lincoln s
dedication to his ethical values and not giving up on his pursuit for a better America.
The Battle of Antietam (also known as Sharpsburg) stopped the pursuit of the Confederate Army
trying to enter into Virginia and is known as one of the bloodiest one day battles in America. (NPS.gov

the Emancipation Proclamation. Even though the battle was deemed a draw and no winner was
declared. The Secretary of State William Seward proposed to Lincoln that the Union should look at
the battle as a victory and be used as a reason for the proclamation to be enforced and issued the

Breathing is a fundamental component of life without which the sustainability of all body functions

Servant Leadership At United Service Automobile...
As with the companies in the case studies, United Service Automobile Association (USAA) illustrates
different facets of servant leadership (Northouse, 2013, p.236). The company displays servant
leadership based on a mixture of a few of the ten characteristics of servant leadership (Spears, 2002)
and the four of the seven servant leadership behaviors (Liden, Wayne, et al. s, 2008). The
characteristics are empathy and listening. The behaviors displayed are putting followers first, helping
followers grow and succeed, behaving ethically, and creating value for the community. Servant
leadership is seen in USAA from the creation of the company in 1922 to present.
USAA was started on the basis of empathy. Empathy is standing in the shoes of another person and
attempting to see the world from that person s point of view (p. 221). This was displayed when 25
Army officers agreed to insure each other s vehicles when no one else would. The felt the heartache of
not being able to find anyone to insure their automobile, so after discussing the issue with each other
they came up with a way to insure each other to drive within the legal perimeters of the law. These
Army officers started the company for personal reasons and now USAA provides services and
products to over 10 million members (n.d, 2014). The company is more than just an automobile
insurance company. They provide a variety of services that include: insurance, banking, investing, real

The Other Side Of The Sky Analysis
In The Other Side of the Sky, Farah, the protagonist and narrator, tells about her life living in Kabul,
Afghanistan, escaping to Pakistan as a refugee, and eventually coming to America. The major threat to
her and her family s survival during their time in Afghanistan was the way it was governed. For most
of Farah s early life, Afghanistan was occupied by the Soviet Union. The mujahideen were formed in
order to resist them, but they eventually began fighting against themselves, sometimes firing rockets
into town facilities. Early on, this wasn t much of a problem, as Farah s family lived one of the quieter
parts of town, but after Farah came back from Germany after her leg amputation following a mine

Taliban soon started drafting young men for their army, and they were prejudiced towards their ethnic

the rest of them to survive under the rule of the Taliban. But this only added to the problem they were

Is There a Correlation Between Primary Psychopathy, Secondary Psychopathy and Cognitive

Abstract
The point of this investigation was to determine if there is a relationship between the two subtypes of
psychopathy and cognitive empathy. A correlation design was employed, in which Levenson, Kiehl
and Fitzpatrick s (1994) Levenson Self Report Psychopathy Scale and Baron Cohel, et al s (2002)
Reading the Mind in the Eyes tests were given to 452 Victoria University Psychology students.
Calculations were made, and resulted in the results to being a significant, negative correlation between
primary psychopathy and cognitive empathy, but no significant correlation between secondary
psychopathy and cognitive empathy. This concludes that not all psychopathy is correlated with
cognitive empathy, but there is a relationship.
Is There a Correlation Between Primary Psychopathy, Secondary Psychopathy and Cognitive
Empathy?
Many studies have been conducted to determine if there is a correlation between Cognitive Empathy
and the two subtypes of Psychopathy (e.g. Ali Chamorro Premuzic, 2010; Levenson, Kiehl,
Fitzpatrick, 1994; Baron Cohen, et al., 2002). Cognitive empathy is defined as the capability to
understand the emotions of another (Ali Chamorro Premuzic, 2010). Psychopathy is defined as an
individual who shows traits of

The participants in the derivatives markets are generally...
The participants in the derivatives markets are generally classified as hedgers and speculators. The
hedgers use derivatives as main purpose to protect against adverse changes while speculators enter a
derivative contract with attempt to profit from anticipated changes in market prices. One of the biggest
questions in regard to the treatment of derivatives tools is whether actually they are used for hedging
or speculation. (Adam and Fernando 2006)
According to Guay (1999) firms can reduce dramatically their risk by the means of derivatives. But in
the same research he finds out that derivatives could be used either do increase or decrease risk. Guay
(1999) undertakes an empirical examination of new derivative users in attempt to find out ... Show

However, Hentchel and
Konthari (2001) find out that even the firms with large derivatives positions do not show a significant
increase in their return volatility, which is inconsistent with the hypothesis for speculations with
derivatives. Furthermore, they also detect that the same companies do not have a significant decrease
in their risk. These findings lead them to the conclusion that firms derivatives use does not measurably
increase or decrease their return volatility . (Hentchel and Konthari 2001, p.94)
Stulz (1996) find that many firms use successfully derivatives as a tool for hedge for short term
contracts or in cases when they have large taxes or poorly diversified portfolios. By using derivatives
to hedge the risk companies increase their leverage and in this way reduce the tax liabilities. In other
words, the use of derivatives increases the level of leverage. (Stulz 1996) Other theories suggest that
some holders of call option can benefit from the use of derivatives if they produce higher volatility.
(Black and Scholes 1973). But according to the research of Hentschel and Kothari (2001) there is no
enough evidence for such thesis.
Another research investigates the relation between the use of derivatives and the cost of equity and the
results show that the cost of equity of the derivatives users is lower than this of non users, due to lower

effects on different industry may also vary according to the nature of the individual industry. 3 As
the industry has no control power of the remote forces, the analysis of those elements become of

Being Thankful For My Family
I think being thankful is very important. I believe gratitude turns what we have into enough. If you are
thankful for things it makes you appreciate them more that way. It s good to be thankful so that you
know how lucky you are. There is always something to be thankful for. I m thankful for my

me so much in their own ways. My grandma Bev plays Gin Rummy with me whenever she visits.
Usually, she comes down during Thanksgiving, and we make Thanksgiving dinner together with my
mom, and my dad just eats the food while we make it. My grandma makes great gravy and cranberry
sauce. My grandma Frieda and grandpa Larry like to watch golf and the cooking show with me. My
grandma Frieda cooks and bakes with me and always gives me baking supplies. My grandpa Larry,
when I was little, used to give me Piggy Back rides but I m too big now. My grandparents never forget
any of my birthdays, ever. My grandma Bev has given me a silver dollar every birthday that I ve had. I
love my grandparents so much, and I am very thankful for them. My family is the most important
thing to me in the whole world. I would be nothing without them. Every one of my family members

Things Fall Apart Misogynist
The novel Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, can be viewed or depicted in many different ways
depending on the reader. The novel takes place during the late nineteenth century and the early
twentieth century in a village named Umuofia, Nigeria. The timing is important to the setting because
during this period in colonial history, Britain was trying to modernize and increase economic, cultural,
and political influence in Africa. In Things Fall Apart women are viewed as weak and oppressed, and
women are continually given bad connotations, while the men are viewed as superior. I will explain
how a feminist will feel while reading this novel by pointing out key parts of women s oppression and
how a misogynist will feel reading this book as well. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A misogynist, who is a person that is strongly prejudiced against women, would read this novel and
see nothing wrong with the way the women are being treated. Instead, the misogynist would praise it
and see it as a thing that should be happening. Misogynists would be entertained by the way Okonkwo
has an impulsive temper and acts before he thinks. The way Okonkwo collects and beats his wives
makes him manly in his tribe. Okonkwo gave her a sound beating and left her and her only daughter
weeping. Neither of the other wives dared to interfere beyond an occasional and tentative, It is
enough, Okonkwo, pleaded from a reasonable distance. (Shmoop, Achebe) To have the women be so
afraid of the way Okonkwo reacts and his bad temper that his wives have to tell him to stop beating
one of the other wives from a distance, shows how crazy he can get. Misogynists would not see this as
a bad thing, because they want the women to know better than to involve themselves. If one of the
wives were to get involved, meaning pushing Okonkwo off or protecting the wife getting beaten, then
Okonkwo would most likely feel disrespected or intimidated and would end up beating her,

The Heart Of The Lungs
The Lungs are a part of every living human and animal that exist today. The lungs are classified as one
of the hardest working organs in the body, besides the heart. They can expand and contract up to 20
times a minute or more to provide oxygen to be distributed to tissues in all parts of the body. They are
considered to be the largest organ in the body. Taking up over forty percent of the chest cavity. Due to
the size, we can only have two. The heart takes up the other space in the upper cavity. Each lung is
made up of a sponge like material of tissue. They have been divided up into sections called lobes. The
right lung has three lobes and the left lung only has two. These are called the superior, middle, and
inferior. The average size of the lungs is 11 in. in length. Most normal adult human s lungs are about
the same size. The normal lungs have an average weight of 234 grams or so. The weight depends a lot
on the health of the lung. The average pair of human lungs can hold about 5 liters of air.
Approximately, a healthy human can breathe up to 24480 times in a day. The lungs are red color
because it is smooth muscles. It is made of all muscle tissue. The job of my organ is to take oxygen
from the air and carbon dioxide is exchange. It does its job with the millions tiny grape likes cells that
are called alveoli, which allows oxygen to seep into the capillaries or the thin wall that air sacs where

Augat Electronics Essay

A Case Analysis
1. Critical Issues
Canadian market for Cable TV connectors is expected to grow substantially in the coming years.
Given the current product quality and the maturity in Value Added Services provided by the Cable TV
companies, the basis for purchasing decisions seems to be changing. Given the current market share
that Augat has and situation, it will be of at most importance to penetrate one or more of the multiple
service operators (MSOs) that dominate the Canadian market. Augat believes that Snap N Seal might
be the product that would help Augat reach mainstream status
The most significant problems in this case as far as Augat goes is their decision(s) pertaining to
a. Pricing Strategy in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, a lower price might provide a lower perceived value by the MSOs, poor product quality as
the reason for the lower price. So Augat would be better off pricing the Snap N Seal connector
comparable to Raychem s. By doing so, the company will be able gain better margins on their product.
Additionally, the price will not be suspect to scrutiny. Although this strategy, enables the company to
compare itself to Raychem in terms of price and quality it will possibly make it more difficult to
persuade the MSO to purchase the product. This is exasperated by the fact that the tools necessary for
the Snap N Seal connector are a capital budgeting decision that represents a considerable investment
for the cable provider.
For the problem on distribution partner, Augat has the option to stick with White Radio, or to seek
new partnerships in distribution like Anixter Canada, or Deskin Sales. Though this would help Augat
enhance the coverage in terms of suppliers (or end users) and a potential increase in market presence.
However, on the other hand, Augat would lose the exclusive relationship it was with White Radio,
knowing White Radio s Steve Quinn knowledge about Cable TV MSO s approval process. In addition,
the other distribution companies also carry competitor s products and there is no guarantee that they

Rhetoric And Environments Of Secondary Schools
The purpose of this auto ethnography is to examine how rhetoric and environments of secondary
schools contribute to school to prison pipeline. In the following sections I present the reasons for
engaging in this research, the purpose, goals, findings and explanation of how this research will help
me achieve my career goals.
Reasons for this Project
In today s modern society we believe that schools should be a place of inclusion and equal
opportunity, but while everyone is allowed access to schooling, the education they receive is widely
different. Each year the disparities between the upper and lower classes continue to grow and so does
the problems within our schools. One of the biggest problems we see in our education system is the
marginalization of minority youth in the school to prison pipeline. The school to prison pipeline refers
to the trend that is pushing many at risk youth from low income areas into the criminal justice system.
The school to prison pipeline is caused by a lot of cultivating issues and society problems. At the
young age of twelve I was acutely aware that there was a difference in educational opportunity due to
the discrepancies between my cousin and my education. I was aware that where you live determined,
to some extent, the type of schooling that you received. These opportunities then influenced career
choices and every other decision that your life was based upon. As a child I was only aware of the
simple differences but now as a more

The Character Of Jean Valjean
It is a story with a long and intricate plot, of the heroic life of a simple and good man in the person of
Jean Valjean. He is a very memorable character who is morally upright but guilty of certain thefts for
which he feels remorse. To avoid capture and life sentence, he assumes the identity of Monsieur
Madeliene, soon becoming the mayor of the small town he has adopted.
It is a very beautiful story packed with excitement. It talks about man s struggle to escape the past and
reaffirm his humanity in a society wherein poverty and ignorance prevails. It shows the inhumane
treatment of the convicts and ex convicts. It also talks about the man s struggle for existence in the
case of the principal character, Jean Valjean as he tried to forget the ... Show more content on

She too, experienced profound sorrows. She was maltreated at a young age and was abused by the
family her mother entrusted. However, she was relieved when Valjean rescued her and was even in
bliss when she found her true love Marius.
Anyways, another character that completes the essence of the story is Inspector Javert, the stalker . He
spent most of his life wandering everywhere just to capture Jean Valjean. He s so pathetic that he
became obsessed with it. Somehow, we can say that he won, because he found what he s looking for.
But, in the end, he still loses. He failed his life, because he can t accept the fact that the person he
hated so much saved him at the peak of his misfortune.
This story entails a lot of things that we must consider and reconsider. Such things like injustices and
discriminations, which I believe is still rampant nowadays. It also point out, that no matter how chary
and confidently we hide our past life, there comes a time, where it will all be revealed in the eyes of
many and when that moment comes, we must have the assurance that we are ready. Also, we must
bear in mind that no matter how bad a person is, there s always that goodness that lies

  • 2. Music Vs. Art Education Much too often in America today, modern music and art programs in schools are perceived to many as extracurricular activities rather than important subjects that are vital to a student s learning and skill development. The truth of the matter is that encouraging music and art education in public schools has a much larger impact on student s grades, academic performance, and the economy than the majority people realize. Within the next year city school budgets will be dropping by twenty five percent, and despite the fact that music and art programs have been showing a dramatic contribution to student s learning, this substantial drop in funding for the programs will lead to no dedicated money for art or music programs (Mezzacappa). There is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Music and art are clearly not two subjects that schools today can afford to cut off funding for based on this evidence. Music and art programs are responsible for increasing school attendance, which can lead to being one of the most important things in a student s academic success in school. Students have to attend school and be present in order to attain the information from their classes and teachers if they wish to succeed. Better attendance means more students are in class, which means more students are getting the information they need to excel from their teachers, which ultimately means better grades and test scores for schools. As of today, arts are defined as core subjects in only twenty six states in America (Mandel). If only twenty six states are treating art education as a core subject, that means that twenty four states are currently neglecting art programs and not considering them important to their student s education. If more states are educated on the importance of art programs for young students, and the arts are defined as core subjects nationally, then there will be a noticeable increase in academic achievement across the nation. Art programs have been proven to increase the academic performance of student in schools, and until these twenty four states treat art as a core subject, their students will continue to ... • 3. Jews In Christendom In the chapter the legal position of Jews in Christendom, Mark Cohen argues that the Jews did not have rights under the Jewry law which was enacted by Christians. The Jewry law was complex because it was enacted from different sources and changed over time. The Jewry Law was part of the Theodosian Code, which mixed the tolerations and restrictions. Some laws in the Theodosian code showed that the Jewish people were protected against the wanton assault. Later, under the Pope Gregory s regulation, the Jews got more toleration. However, this period of toleration did not last long. In the thirteenth century, Christians began to enhance the restrictions and exclusion to the Jews and the protection to the Jews attenuated accordingly. The Conon Law and Secular Jewry Law also indicated the negative attitude toward the Jewish people. The serfdom of Jewish people showed that they did not have freedom, but they could earn freedom by unchallenging the authorities. The laws sometimes gave protection to the Jews, but overall it was not fair to the Jews. Cohen uses both primary sources ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The other sources I have read also point to the fact that the Jews were under Christian s control. The Jews in the Medieval World shows some laws against Jewish people. For example, in Medieval Spanish Law and the Jews, I have read one law which is that no Jews can hold any office or employment by which he may be able to oppress Christians. It means that the Jews could not have the privilege like they had before the God was crucified. Also, Church, State, and Jew in the Middle Ages verifies the idea of Cohen s; the law number ten writes that it is not permissible for the Jews to buy a Christian slave (65). It shows that in the medieval world, Jews could not have a Christian slave, but the Christians could have a Jewish slave. It is an indication that the status of the Jews were lower than that of ... An individual can either identify themselves with a subculture or social group which results in them having diverse gender roles. • 6. A Myriad Of Battles Make Up War Essay A myriad of battles make up war. Physical force is used to make an opponent inept to further confrontation. War is thus an art of force to compel our enemy to do our will. In human history, the 20th century was the bloodiest, priciest century of warfare. Since 1914, there have been two world wars, and several major revolutions such as the Russia Civil War, the Vietnam War, and the Gulf War among others. According to Clausewitz, war is an inherent subset of politics where every military act has political consequences. Politics is about power, and war is a violent expression of disagreements and tensions arising among political groups. He argues that the intrinsic feature of war demonstrates a clear relationship between war and politics. Time and again, the overpowered state regards the result purely as a temporary evil for which a resolve may still be found in political situations. Whereas, it is expected that militarily powerful states would win war against their weak adversaries, they have sometimes failed in achieving their desired political outcomes. This essay endeavors to look into some contributing factors to these failures and point out what strategies should do to increase their likelihood of success. First, poor choice of strategy and ill preparedness will affect war outcome. Heavily militarized states lose war when they apply wrong strategy as opposed to their adversary. It didn t help that reimbursement rates were down at the time and patients were starting to move to lower paying plans. That statement there is one of the most glossed over issues in society. We are always told what needs to be done, and how to get it done in good quality and time. Businesses and people in general are relying more and more on goal oriented ideals, which isn t a bad thing, except for when it becomes a straight routine and monotonous. Then we have the problem of goal displacement. With more of people s lives becoming goal oriented we are seeing more rise in goal displacement. Although, by far this is the hardest portion of society to tell signs because each person has very different lives, and goes about them differently too. But just the same, the signs are there when you look at the public on a larger scale. So many people have an outstanding debt, and yet, still spend money making that debt greater. They don t have much of a choice considering the economy, right? Wrong. The world may run on money, but there are programs that help manage debt while people still go about their lives, and I am not talking about welfare. Welfare is where the goal displacement is happening for people, because it s a federal program meant to help those in need until they can get back on their feet, not to become their main income source. One of the biggest being starting in extra innings a runner will be placed on second base, increasing the possibility for the batting team to score in the given inning. This rule was thought up after countless games going into extra innings. Most notably the game between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees, in 2015, where this game went into 19 innings, lasting well over six hours. There are still so many games per season that go into extra innings, most of which stay between 10 and 13, there are still the freak games that happen that get its way up to 19 innings. With each extra inning adding an average of twenty minutes onto the game time, it becomes an extremely drawn out game (Kopf). Dan Kopf discusses in his article Major League Baseball Is Testing a Rule to Start Extra Innings with a Runner on Second , that the chances with a player added on second base in ending the given innings a tie decrease by about 10 percent, which when it comes down to it, is a pretty big percentage, and really anything helps when it is already a 10 or 11 inning game. With this addition, though, the average game time will not be affected, the average extra innings game time will, and will definitely speed up the time with a player already in scoring position (Kopf). Not only will it affect the game time but it will also be better for the teams and the players. If a game goes into extra innings there is the probability of running out of able pitchers, so a manager would either have to use pitchers that are tired, and have the possibility of them hurting themselves or pull utility players to pitch, which really is not ideal either (SI ... But, is it true that if a baby is born preterm then they are destined to be autistic? In order to answer that question, we must first be educated on preterm infants as well as the disorder of Autism. Not many people are educated on what Autism is and even less are educated on the health and well being of premature babies. The purpose for this research is to shed some light on both autism and premature birth as well as justify if there is any connection between preterm birth and autism. When one thinks of a baby born prematurely many imagine a tiny one pound baby barely able to live even with all the ventilators and machines hooked up to it. They imagine a baby that will be under weight and unable to leave the hospital for many months to come. Few will know the risk factors that come along with being preterm, and even less will know that preterm babies are just as capable of living healthy and normal lives. Every child develops in their own unique way, and your baby s development will depend on a range of factors, including his genetic make up, and the environment and influences around him (https://www.tommys.org).
