For many years, there s been an ongoing debate as to whether birth order truly has an effect on the
way we behave throughout our development. The article I ve selected argues against the notion that

Personality three authors collectively come to this agreement that there are no lasting effects from

psychologists, and later decide to conduct their own research and draw conclusions thereafter.
I found the article to be very straightforward in its approach. The subject matter was presented clearly
within the opening sentences. Each point was elaborated thoroughly, and it was written in a way both
professionals, and average readers could comprehend the language. The terms were relatively
relatable, no advanced medical terminology was mentioned, and evidence was given for each
argument presented in their research. Statistics and table charts played a significant role in
demonstrating credibility of the findings.

As a whole, the novel contains a few weaknesses. The first weakness arises from the time difference
between the events and the writing of the novel. Corrie ten Boom wrote THE HIDING PLACE twenty
years after the fact. It is extremely likely that the events depicted in the novel are shades of what
actually occurred. Memories fade and time distorts the reality of the past and because of this, I feel
that the book would have been more factually accurate had Corrie ten Boom written it much sooner.
Another weakness in the book derives itself from ten Boom s heavy reliance on her Christian faith. As

Salmonella is a gram negative bacterium present in contaminated food or water. Typhoid fever is a
systemic infection caused by the serotype Salmonella typhi and can be fatal without proper
intervention. Instances of resistant typhoid are high in less developed countries. Resistance occurs
when genetic mutations prevent antibiotic mechanisms of action, making current antibiotics less
effective. The purpose of this drug screen was to target oncological drugs and diversity library
compounds to identify novel antibiotic substances. To perform the initial drug screen, we exposed
Salmonella typhimurium to various compounds and chemotherapeutic drugs. The positive and
negative controls were ampicillin and Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), respectively. We used
spectrophotometry to measure the growth of salmonella in the plate. Hits were identified as
compounds with an absorbance below 2 standard deviations of the mean DMSO value, meaning that
hits would have an absorbance below 0.065. We identified that the FDA approved drug capecitabine
had an average absorbance of 0.035. To perform a dosing series, capecitabine was diluted in a 1:2
ratio, making 13 dilutions total. The dosing series revealed that capecitabine is most effective at doses
lower than 6.25 μM. Through this process, we determined that the oncological drug Capecitabine

This new found perspective, achieved during class discussions and readings, was the finale of the

Melba Pattillo Beals was a very brave individual who fought to end segregation. She, along with eight

may seem contradictory, but there is evidence that music is and has been a part of many deaf people s
lives. Music is and has been a part of the Deaf culture, including, but not limited to, Deaf musicians,
utilising music to teach speech. The primary purpose of this thesis was to explore the relation between
Deaf culture and music and examine the role of music in the deaf culture and to relate the findings to
current practices in music education programs for hearing impaired students historically and presently.
We also look at the introduction of sign language interpreters in live vocal music performances as well
pre recorded shows and music videos and also how it is being adopted in the music industry.

Should the driving age be raised?
Once I turned 16 years old I started learning the basic rules of the road and driving. I was learning
many things without even having to get on the road before I was ready. I was taught by my parents
whom which have been driving for 20 years and more with a license. I had to learn the basic
fundamentals of how to be responsible for myself and others before getting on the road with other
drivers. Once I got enough practice I was driving on the road with supervision until I was able to
handle driving on my own. Of course I had restrictions on where I can go and what time I have to be
back by. The restrictions didn t even have to be by law it could be from parents as well. But coming
from someone that has been driving for about a year now I believe the driving age should not be
raised.

Cultural relativism is the way society separates right from wrong within a culture. What we describe
as good and bad is based off of our cultural beliefs. Cultural relativism argues that no culture is better
than any other and all their beliefs are equally valid. The way that modern society is has made it

Three arguments that are against objective values were found on The Ethical Life by Russ Shafer
Landau (P. 205) textbook that identify two problems with the cultural relativist s argument are:
1. Morality is a product of culture,

The new prisoner is then admitted into their pod . Rather than keep ALL the inmates together in one
large group, they are broken down into smaller groups. Each group lives in their own pod. Each pod
had a central living space and outside fresh air lounge. The individual cells surround the living area

Reconstruction failed for African Americans. By the 1890 s all optimism that came as a result of the
Constitutional rights guaranteed to them by the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments was gone. Their
reality, particularly for those in the South, was one of lynchings, Jim Crowe laws, and voting
restrictions. They faced discrimination, segregation, limited educational opportunities, and a tenant
farming system that only slightly differed from slavery. In the early twentieth century, visionaries such
as Booker T. Washington, W.E.B. DuBois, and Marcus Garvey recognized the urgent need for change.
These great leaders were in agreement that action was required to uplift the African American race.
However, their philosophies on how to approach it were vastly different. Born a slave on a Virginia
farm, Booker Taliaferro Washington (1856 1915) rose to become one of the most influential African
