Database Management System And Microsoft Sql Server Vs....
DBMS
Database Management System or DBMS is a collecting computer program used for creating, deleting,
editing and maintaining collections of different data records. There are many different types of
database management systems; they are used to stored, managed database model. Different DBMS
systems are Relational Database System, Flat Files Base Database Management, Hierarchical
Database Management Systems, Network Database Management System and Object oriented
Database Management Systems. () Relational Database System includes Oracle Database, Microsoft
SQL Server, IBM DB2, mySQL, IBM DB2, SAP Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise, and Teradata,
etc.
Oracle Database vs. Microsoft SQL Server vs. Teradata:
Oracle database is a collection of data treated as a unit (Oracle.com). Oracle database system store and
retrieve related information. Oracle Database was the first database designed for enterprise grid
computing, the most flexible and cost effective way to manage information and applications.
Microsoft SQL Server is a software product with the main function of storing and retrieving data as
requested by other software applications which may run either on the same computer or on another
computer across a network (including the Internet) ( )
Teradata is analytic data platforms, marketing applications, and related services. Its analytics products
are meant to consolidate data from different sources and make the data available for analysis.

Buffalo Soldiers
Buffalo Soldiers
The focal point of my paper will be on the changes in the United States (US) armed forces over the
last century. I chose to compare the Buffalo Soldiers, who existed from 1867 1896, and their
experiences with the current state of the US armed forces. I was drawn to author, ZZ Packer s Buffalo
Soldiers because of my experience in the US armed services and, as I read the book it became clear
that the US armed services today is very different from what it was at the time when the Buffalo
Soldiers existed. I served honorably in both the United States Air Force and United States Army from
1985 2001, and my experiences are in stark contrast to the experiences of the Buffalo Soldiers.

I successfully recruited many men and women of multicultural backgrounds by relating my
experiences in the army to them, and many of them have gone on to have brilliant careers in the
United States armed services. As an African American service connected veteran I know that my
experiences in the United States military are not unique. Many African Americans and many soldiers
of all ethnic groups have inspired others to follow their path and that of the early pioneers.
The greatest example of change for minorities in the US Armed Services over time is exemplified by
General Colin Luther Powell, an African Caribbean American with an impeccable career as a
statesman and a retired United States Army four star general. During his stint in the army, General
Powell went on to reach the highest rank that an army officer in the United States Armed Services
could reach, that of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff who advise the US Government in
matters of armed conflict. I think that General Powell views became known as the Powell Doctrine by
the media associated with the 1990 1991 Gulf War. The Powell Doctrine includes a list of questions all
of which have to be answered affirmatively before military action is taken by the United States:
1. Is a vital national security interest threatened?
2. Do we have a clear attainable objective?
3. Have the risks and costs been fully and frankly analyzed?
4. Have all other non violent policy means been fully

Essay on The Aftermath for Children in Child Labor
Introduction It is estimated that 186 million kids are currently engaged in child labor. around (85
million) of these children have been defined to work in dangerous conditions. http://www.ilo.org
These children must endure things that harm them in so many ways both physically and mentally.
These can lead to life time problems or even death. More effort! According to
http://www.continuetolearn.uiowa.edu Child labor laws around the world are often not enforced many
state governments allocate few resources to enforcing child labor laws. The government lacks the right
laws to protect these children from this labor. Neither do they even implement the ones they have right
now. Inadequate/poor enforcement of legislation and policies to ... Show more content on

http://www.continuetolearn.uiowa.edu Physical Effects Child labor presents many fatal issues as well.
Children in most cases will have to live with it for the rest of their lifes (same with mental effects).
They can lose vital organs and their body can be in mutilated condition. Diseases can also be picked
up along the way in some kinds of labour including child prostitution (STI), underground
mines/welding causing respiratory diseases and lead poison etc. These children can also end up with
illnesses that sometimes can not be treated. Which can end up resulting in their own death. Children
rather than adults Children are usually prefered over adults for a couple of reasons: One, children can
be more easily manipulated than adults. Two, they are more willing to do the work. But children are
more susceptible to illness or disease rather than adults are.

Wrapping It all up Currently across the globe many countries allow child labor to inhabit their country.
Many organizations are fighting against this so that these children can get an education and live a safe
and healthy life style. The International Labor Organization(ILO)http://www.ilo.org for example
promotes jobs and protects victims of child labor in the entire world in countries with extremely high
child labourers: Eritrea, Somalia, DR Congo, Myanmar, Sudan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Zimbabwe

Policing Styles, Watchman, And Service Style
In today s society there are three types of policing styles and it tends to vary based on the community.
According to Kuykendall (1974), states that the style used in a community by law enforcement is
based on different expectations regarding role performance (Kuykendall, 1974). Each style is used to
maintain and enforce law and order in the community. The three policing styles that are used in the
community are legalistic, watchman, and service style. The legalistic style of policing is focused on
enforcing the law and resolving disputes by the book. It is also considered a reactive form of policing.
The watchman style policing focuses on maintaining order and preventing crime (Kuykendall, 1974).
The service style policing is focused on helping those in the community, instead of enforcing the laws.
The policing style that I believe is used in my community is the watchman and legalistic style. Both
policing style is used to enforce the law and maintain order in a culturally and ethnically diverse
community, by making arrest, keeping the peace and issuing citations. Question 2 In my opinion
detectives should wear plain clothes for all their assignments due to the fact that detectives do not
respond to calls where individuals are in need of their assistance so they do not need to be in uniform
to identify who they are. Another reason is when detectives are investigating a crime or meeting with
an informant, they don t need the entire neighborhood knowing who they are and the

Ritalin
Ritalin amp; Cocaine: Controversial Connection
Today it seems that many children, especially boys, are diagnosed with ADHD, four times more than
girls. Is it more prevalent now or just recognized more within our society? Those diagnosed with
ADHD have a hard time concentrating and are prone to outburst based on the emotions they are
feeling at the time rather than reason. This is caused by lower levels of dopamine in their brains. The
most commonly prescribed drug to treat ADHD is Ritalin. The dopamine transporter within the brain
moves dopamine from the synapse to the sending neuron. Ritalin blocks the dopamine transporter,
therefore, increasing the dopamine level at the synapse.
Similarly, in recent studies, cocaine has the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I do believe that some individuals may be in need of prescriptions that control things like dopamine
levels; however, by stripping away all processed foods and going organic when available, I think
studies would prove a decrease in ADHD and also things like Autism. Society should demand a higher
quality of chemical free food produced by farmers and higher quality control before going to market.
The unfortunate truth is that currently it would require more dollars on both ends to accomplish such a
task.
Mothers eating processed foods during pregnancy and children eating quick and easy snacks are in my
opinion creating a generation of individuals that have a lack of coping mechanisms directly
contributed from the imbalance of a healthy cellular system. Although unaware of why they have a
feeling of disconnect, this leads them to seek comfort in prescribed or controlled substances to feel
calm or in control.
Because of Ritalin s similarity to cocaine, some believe it to be a gateway drug, but studies have
shown that Ritalin users are less likely to experiment than those who were not prescribed Ritalin .
Gateway drugs are perceived to be a drug that may lead to the use of other, more addictive drugs.
Continued use and over prescribed use may in the long term

Examples Of Light And Dark In Of Mice And Men
Desmond Tutu, a South African social activist and retired Anglican priest once said Hope is being able
to see that there is light despite all of the darkness . Of Mice and Men is a novel which revolves
around the lives of struggling farmers and how they still maintain hope despite their hardships. The
symbolic representation of light embodies the hopes and the American Dream, whereas the dark
epitomizes the harsh realities and truths of their lives. Steinbeck uses light and dark to foreshadow the
upcoming events in the forlorn lives of the migrant workers. He also combines aspects such as the
setting and characters with light and dark to paint a vivid picture in the reader s mind as to how the
world of the migrant workers looks like.
Steinbeck merges together facets of the setting and living conditions with light and darkness to show
how the migrant workers are living. One side of the river golden foothill slopes curve up to the rocky
Gabilan Mountains , imply that the hope is on one side and fear and uncertainty is on the other side.
The word golden bespeaks the hope and ambition which the farmers possess.Whereas rocky signifies
the fear and uncertainty the farmers have about their survival and future. curve up to represents that

The Theme Of Life In Village By The Sea By Anita Desai
In the novel Village By The Sea by Anita Desai, focus mainly on the social dynamics and it condition
in which the children lives. The book deals with the rural life and the lower classes of society. Anita
Desai criticizes the society not taking better care of those who are unable to care for themselves. It is
incredibly hard to write a book about such deep topics as poverty and the hope of life, especially with
children as main characters. It is a unique blend of description and a good story of hope, despair,
poverty and how life can change with the simplest of things. In this novel we experience the impact of
the modern technological development on a traditional community of fishermen and farmers at Thul.

I would not say that it is a problem, but there are definitely advantages and disadvantages to
urbanization. The advantages can be that the country will be more economically competitive as
contrasted to other which are not so developed countries. It will also have more cleaner and more
efficient manufacturing and will be more potential in controlling their resources. In addition, when the
country is very developed, they will be very successful to safeguard themselves. When more people

setting and conflict. Act 1 also introduces most of the characters who are seen throughout this play,
like Polonius, the chief counselor to the new King Claudius. Polonius has a rather interesting character
development in this act, and this is evident through his relationship with his kids, his relationship with
the king, and his own self centeredness Polonius is described as an old man in this play, and that is
supported with the fact that he has a son who is in college in France. His other child is Ophelia, who
just so happens to be courting with none other than Prince Hamlet. To Polonius, both of his children
are each in a situation that requires tact and wit. Even though they both live separate lives from their
father, Polonius still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Contrary to Laertes s, his lecture with her is about her relationship with Prince Hamlet, and believes
his vows, for they are brokers (1.3.136). He means by this that Hamlet is just a pimp that is leading
her to sinful acts. Polonius does not believe that he is being true when he says he loves Ophelia, and
has a right not to. After all, he is the Prince, and royalty usually marry royalty. He also believes that
Hamlet is just using her, and that she should Tender yourself [Ophelia] more clearly, / Or (not to crack
the wind of the poor phrase, / Running it thus) you ll tender me a fool (1.3.117 118). This statement
was said in the context that Hamlet is showing his tenders of affection to Ophelia, tenders meaning not
legal tender. The first part of this charge tells Ophelia that she should be careful with who she accepts
love from. This is a loving statement from father to daughter, and receives no reward when in the
shadow of the last part of this statement, which has three meanings. The second half of this charge
mostly means that she will either make herself look like a fool, or make Polonius look like a fool. This
meaning shows Polonius s true character, that he is concerned with himself most of all. Considering
his reputation, this claim is understood, yet still looked down upon by most readers. The other, and
more serious, meaning of Polonius s comment is that Ophelia will give Polonius a grandchild. This is
drawn from the alternate meaning of fool, which is a term of endearment toward babies. If Ophelia
had a child with the Prince, this would also make Polonius look bad because she would have done it
out of wedlock, and thus reveals his character even more. He is very self centered, and this is
supported by his behavior around the

Racial Discrimination In African American Universities
Race relations on college campuses seems negligible on the surface of prestigious universities and
while the populous of these institutions are portrayed as open minded students, there is, at the least,
one consistent problem throughout colleges, especially in the south of the United States. Within these
institutions that claim to have liberal educations, why is there a lack of black members within the
Greek life at Baylor University? While there is a good amount of black students at Baylor, these black
students are not well represented within the traditional Greek life. Although there are historically black
fraternities and sororities known as the Divine Nine, the more prominent fraternities and sororities at
Baylor University lack black ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
DuBois in this situation would argue that African Americans feel a widespread feeling of dislike for
his blood, which keeps him and his children out of decent employment, from certain public
conveniences and amusements, from hiring houses in many sections... and from being recognized as a
man (DuBois). This idea of a color line even further restricts African Americans from achieving true
liberation from segregation. However, the most famous example of complete segregation no matter
their status occurred at the University of Alabama. Melody Twilley, an incoming college freshman
seeking to join one of the many sororities at the University of Alabama, but the sororities only saw one
thing: she was black. The most disturbing part about the incident is that Twilley met many, if not all,
of the sororities qualities. One professor from the university was cited to state that She s bright, she s
attractive, she s a member of the upper class (Zengerle). Although it makes sense that this sort of
individual should be able to join any sorority that he or she desired with these qualities, because she
was of an African American descent, she was not even considered. This demonstrates that the
definition of whiteness is more complicated than it seems and this creates criteria that is impossible
for someone of color to meet.

Reflection On Effective Teaching
Introduction
In this analysis, my objective is to reflect on effective teaching and learning strategies and methods,
using my personal experience in the classroom, as well as wider reading/research and university
lectures, including my contextual analysis on my placement school (see appendix one).
However, since there are so many dynamics to effective teaching and learning, one cannot put a finger
on a single aspect and use that as a solution. With this in mind, I have chosen to look at two foci in
depth. These are Classroom Management and Questioning Techniques but before we analyse these
foci in depth, it is important to understand what teaching and learning are. Not only this, but it is also
essential to note they are not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first teacher, who also happens to be my Subject Mentor, is a very experienced staff member, he
has known the students since they started the school in Year 7, and hence he has a personal
relationship with them. Because of this, he is able to joke around with them and therefore be slightly
friendly. This works well in this particular situation, however, it does not mean it would work for
every teacher.
Secondly, the other staff member happens to be someone with a practical approach; she involves the
students very much so in her lessons but at the same time they are encouraged to work on
independently too, as she has a slightly softer approach to teaching, hence the pupils behave
differently.
Lastly, the third staff member is Assistant Headteacher he has a very informal way of teaching, to the
point where he addresses the learners by their nicknames. Furthermore, he uses slang in his lessons for
better understanding for the learners.
Why teachers use different methods has a deep connection with how learners learn.
How do learners learn?
There are different learning styles, which should be the reason behind teachers using different
teaching styles. Studies suggest it is important for people to be in the right state of mind in order to
learn. If a person is not in the right mind to learn, learning can be ineffective.

Editing In The Shawshank Redemption
In the film, The Shawshank Redemption , directed by Frank Darabont, I will be discussing the scene
in which Andy receives book donations from a charitable organization, where he finds the record
Marriage of Figaro opera by Mozart and he plays it over the prison speakers. This is a significant
event in the film because it helps develop Andy s character as it is the first time that we see Andy truly
disobey the system and through this, it shows the audience how Andy is able to be mentally free
despite the prison environment he is in. Being able to mentally escape the prison allows Andy to
remain hopeful that ultimately, he will be physically free. The four techniques that help this message
to be conveyed throughout the scene is camera work, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this scene, Darabont continuously cuts from one scene to another. For example, when it cuts from
Andy turning the speaker on in the office, to the guard in the toilet, to the inmates in the courtyard. It
allows the viewer to get the different point of views from what s happening and their reactions to the
music being played. The next editing technique used is dissolving, which is when one image is still on
screen briefly when the next scene is introduced. This technique is only used at a certain point in the
image. It is when Red is doing the voiceover, the camera only moves to the right throughout this
moment, it goes from a group of inmates in the courtyard, then dissolves to another group of inmates
in the courtyard and then it dissolves into the workroom, it moves across the faces of the inmates and
then stops at Red. The camera stops at Red because he is doing the voiceover and it allows the viewer
to see his reaction to the music. The editing techniques, cut and dissolve, allow the viewer to see the
impact the music had on the inmates and makes us feel admirable towards Andy because he is
sacrificing himself in order to allow the prisoners to witness the feeling of mentally escaping the
prison

this paper focuses on the role of public relation and public affairs in critical incidences. The
organizational truth and public communication are also discussed in this paper. Lastly right to know

Fine Foods and Wine is a food shop which was started in 1998 by Kathy Kudler, the owner. Currently,
the owner has expanded his business to three different locations. The business provides quality and

Assess the Factors Which Led to the Creation of Itv Essay
Assess the factors which led to the creation of ITV in 1954
Commercial Television has been playing big role in our lives for about 60 years already, whether it is
the Morning News, Downton Abbey or The Britain s Got Talent show (Johnson, Turnock, 2005: 1).
Commercial television is entertaining, educating and informative and tries to fulfil viewer s wishes of
what they want to watch. British audience has been able to choose what they watch since 1954, when
government published the Act of Television which allowed the creation of the first independent
television in the United Kingdom. The creation of ITV broke the BBC s monopoly and introduced

Also, many senior positions in the BBC were still suspicious of the new medium of television
(Turnock, 2007:21). Lord Reith summed up the general attitude of BBC s management to television
when he told that television will be of no importance in your lifetime or mine (Williams, 2010:144).
General opinion in the BBC was that television would not become as successful as radio. As well as
BBC management, government did not find television being as important as radio. On the contrary to
the BBC s management, there were people who saw future in commercial television. One of those
people was Norman Collins who became a director general of Independent Television who left the
BBC and started to campaign commercial television (Crisell, 1997: 78). BBC s broadcasting
developing slowly because of the shortage of technical knowledge which gave a reason for
government to legitimize commercial television which would also give jobs many advertisers and
television people. Commercial television campaign was also able to persuade the government that
competition would make television better as companies had to give their best to make the viewer to
watch their channel.
Another reason which made commercial lobby successful, was the circumstance that important
members of government including the Prime Minister, Churchill, were not prepared to defend the
BBC (Curran, Seaton, 2010:154). After a change in power in late 1951, the conservative party decided
to publish its ideas for

a text. Once again, we see his skill and mastery at manipulating the English language in order to
foreground a thought and turn it into a commentary on society. As with all of cummings works, there
is evidence of a multitude of variances and deviances at work, however, I shall concentrate on the area
of language variance, more specifically, domain.
Language variation and the area of domain, subject matter and function, are the easiest kinds of
variation to see within a text. Subject matter involves the use of lexical fields, that is to say, a grouping
of words, belonging to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, by jingo by gee by gosh by gum gives the impression that this speaker has not put any
thought into the words he speaks.
The last line of the poem shows the speaker drinking a glass of water rapidly. Why did cummings
choose to invert this line? Why does the speaker drink at all? cummings could be mentioning this
detail in an effort to portray just how irrelevant this speech really is. The adverb rapidly occurs in a
most unlikely position in this thought. If we eliminate the need for rhyming water with slaughter, since
the necessary rhyme for this poem might well have been achieved without inverting the syntax, then
cummings must have had some other reason for the inversion of the syntax. Could it be that by writing
a poem, which expresses a theme of inverted or confused philosophy, cummings inverts his apparently
objective commentary on the situation and the words in which he reports his commentary to produce
an ironic tone? This line, then, further serves to point to the inverted philosophy of this speaker and
foregrounds the insincerity and thoughtlessness behind this speech.
In this poem, carefully worked out in sonnet form, cummings pillories a Fourth of July speechmaker
by choosing patriotic and religious clichés common to platform oratory and compressing fragments of
them together in order to demonstrate the meaningless emptiness that the speakers

Robert Smithson Plural Jetty Essay
Robert Smithson s Spiral Jetty is a 3ft. 6 in. x 15 ft. x 1,500 ft. Earthwork located in Great Salt Lake,
Utah. It was created in April 1970. Located where the rails of the first transcontinental railroad met, it
sits near the Golden Spike monument; making it an actual landscape. It s a giant counterclockwise
spiral sculpture made of black rock, earth, algae, and salt crystals. It is said that Smithson used dump
trucks and bulldozers to haul in 6,650 tons of earth and rocks to complete the Spiral Jetty. In a 32
minute short color film, he recorded the construction of the Spiral Jetty. Smithson had to acquire land
rights, before completing it. Virginia Dwan Gallery of New York gave Smithson a $9,000 grant for a
part of the Spiral Jetty s construction. The rest was financed over a 20 years lease at payments of $100
annually. The first phase of building the Spiral Jetty took about 6 days to complete. Smithson was not
completely satisfied with it initially and spent another 3 days changing the shape. 7,000 tons of rock
had to be moved during these 3 additional days of work. Smithson died 3 years after completing the
Spiral Jetty. It is now owned by the state of Utah, who acquired it in 2011. ... Show more content on

Similarities Between Malaysian And Japanese Moral Curriculum
III. Moral Education Curriculum of Malaysia and Japan
A. Similarities of the Moral Education Curricula
The first aspect of similarity between the Malaysian and Japanese moral education is the subject is
taught as an independent subject. The teaching period for Malaysian moral education is allocated in
the school timetable. It is one of the core subjects taught to non Muslim students in all primary and
secondary schools in Malaysia. In a week, three teaching periods of forty minutes each are allotted for
the subject (World Data on Education, 2011). Similarly, following France which teaches moral
education as a separate subject, Japanese moral education was established as special hour in the
official Course of Study (World Data on Education, 2011). Therefore, as a teaching subject in school,
like any other subject lessons, the Japanese moral education develops, incorporates and enhances its
own instruction. Classified as general studies rather than academic study, it is taught once a week in
elementary and lower secondary schools, allowing Japanese students from the first grade to the ninth
grade to have 35 lesson hours of moral education in a regular school year (Bolton, 2015).
Secondly, both Malaysian and Japanese moral education have explicit focus on nature. Malaysian
moral education emphasizes on the love for the environment. The values relating to the environment
require man to love and protect the environment, live harmoniously with the environment, maintain

To what extent are the ‘self’ and ‘identity’...
To what extent are the self and identity separate from society? The concept of self and identity has
become increasingly important in social science in recent years. There are many competing concepts
about them. The term identity can be basically understood as how we understand ourselves. It
generally entails how to category people into groups by differentiate them according to their
characteristics. This essay will focus on the correlations of self and identity, and society. It will stress
on if self and identity are separate from society with scholars support, particular on Mead and
Goffman. George Herbert Mead is widely considered as the founding father of theoretical thinking

subjective consciousness of self. However, only after we have the objective, social and impersonal
sense of self the Me, we can then have the subjective, personal and intimate sense of self the I

them from society. Individuals have their own consciousness arising from themselves, although it
needs to fellow after the arising of I. Another important sociologist need to mention here is Goffman.
He addressed individuals daily life as the metaphor of the drama. For Goffman, social life is a series of
dramatic performances. The actor who is performing, and the other co performers who Goffman refers
to as members of the team (Ransome, 2010). The audiences are who witness the performance.
Goffman focused on how the self is shaped by the dramatic interactions between social actors and
their audiences (Ritzer and Goodman, 2006). When an individual is interacting with others, there are
according to Goffman two impressions: the one individual gives and the one they give off (Goffman,
1990). An impression is given through speaking, and this is information that individuals want to give
(Goffman, 1990). Another impression which is given off is through non verbal communication. For
Goffman, it is used to make the participants accept a desired

Analysis Of The Book Speak By Laurie Halse Anderson
The novel Speak , by Laurie Halse Anderson captures the thoughts of a new high schooler caught in
some deep drama of the past. From the start of school, Melinda Sordino is shunned, glared at, talked
about, and poked at because of one incident at a party from the end of last summer. With her friends
turned away, her grades down, her family combative, and her looks deteriorating, what does she have
left? Nothing has been seeming to go right for Melinda in and out of school since that night. She has
silently appointed someone responsible for this situation, someone named IT , Andy Evans. Every
time he s around she feels sick. The protagonist of Speak , Melinda Sordino has become depressed,
insecure of herself, and flustered around others. Depression can come from many things such as being
overwhelmed, loss of something loved, or triggered by an illness. Melinda Sordino has lost all of her
friends, acceptable grades, and her family life. She has become an introvert, not listening in class and
ignoring any crowd of people. Late in Second Marking Period of Speak , after getting yelled at for her
inadequate grades, Melinda finds a paper clip and remarks, I open up a paper clip and scratch it across
the inside of my left wrist . Pitiful. If a suicide attempt is a cry for help, then what is this? A whimper,
a peep? ( Rent Round Three pg.87), she talks about a cry for help , which is a sign of depression and
she cuts her wrist, sort of, but it still draws blood, which is a major sign for not being content. Also,
there are hints at the condition of her lips in parts of the novel, they are scabbed and chapped, she is
picking at them. Maybe a sign of depression, a nervous, anxious habit? All in all, Melinda Sordino is
depressed because of the loss of many things she loved in her life. Not being confident in yourself can
cause emotional damage that isn t easy to reverse, and Melinda belongs to many insecurities. It isn t
easy for her to see what she has become since the incident. In subchapter, Winter Break , on page 70,
Melinda shares her feelings to the readers, saying, I was a huge disappointment. I m not pretty ot
smart or athletic. I m just like them an ordinary drone dressed in secrets and lies. ,

How Did The Cash Register Change The World
Imagine running a business without a cash register. Imagine how unorganized, chaotic, and difficult it
would be to handle money through every employee without the cash register. This is no longer a
problem for any business anymore thanks to James Ritty. The cash register was invented in 1879 by
James Ritty, a saloonkeeper in Dayton, Ohio. (thecorememory.com). The prototype machine had a
large, clock like face and a row of keys for entering amounts from 5 cents to 95 cents (by fives) and
from $1 to $9. A mechanism inside the machine recorded total sales. (americanhistory.si.edu). This
was how the first cash register worked, and was the base model for many more to come. He created
this invention because he believed that his employees were stealing money from his saloon, and with
the cash register being invented, they no longer can. Finally, the cash register was the most important
invention in American history, due to its major impact on businesses around the world. After the cash
register was invented, it became a huge success. Before, few business owners actually knew if they
were operating at a profit or a loss (thecorememory.com), and now companies can easily see how

from pilfering money from the manager. There is also some people that despise the cash register, and
those people are the employees that were taking the money before. Finally, the evolvement of the cash
register from Ritty s model to the electronic model, was very important to each society that it evolved
through. All in all, without the cash register, small businesses will crumble from loss of profit, and the
economy would go into a downfall without the invention of the cash

Santa Gertrudis Cattle Research Paper
What does one think of when they see cattle at the local county fair? Do they classify them as a red
cow or a black cow, or do they know that each cow is possibly a different breed? In today s era, most
individuals do not understand all the subtitles beneath the title of simply cattle. There are a variety of
breeds, and each breed offers different benefits and usages. What lies beneath the title of just cattle is
more diverse than black and white. To begin with, Santa Gertrudis cattle are a tropical beef breed of
cattle developed in southern Texas on King Ranch. This breed was officially recognized by the United

American beef industry so significantly as the Charolais breed has. The Charolais breed came into
widespread use in the United States cattle industry at a time when producers were seeking larger
framed, heavier cattle than the traditional British breeds. Their ability to walk, graze aggressively in
warm weather, withstand the cold, produce adequate milk, and raise heavy calves has developed a
demand for the breed in ranches nationwide. Bulls have developed a well earned reputation when due
to their use of grading up for herd improvement. This is especially noted when they are used in herds
where size and ruggedness are lacking. Charolais are white or creamy white in color, but the skin

Different Kinds Of Polymers And Polymers
A polymer is a large molecule that is made from many small repeating chemicals called monomers. In
the Greek language, polymer literally means many parts. Polymers are being used more and more in
medical devices, such as drug delivery, screws, plates, fixation pins, suture anchors and many other
applications. Some of the most useful polymers for medical uses are poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and
poly(glycolic acid) (PGA). They are useful in medicine because of the fact that they can degrade
within the body to lesser components that will cause very minimal negative effects. Scientists have
found many different ways to control the degradation of these two polymers. Combining two or more
different kinds of monomers during polymer formation is called copolymerization. Changing the
amount of different kinds of monomers during copolymerization of either poly(lactic co glycolic)
(PLGA) or PLA can change degradation characteristics. [2] For example, combining lactic acid and
glycolic acid to make PLGA will degrade quicker. There are also stereo copolymers, such as L lactic
acid, and D lactic acid which are the same chemical, but are mirror images of each other (figure 1).
These can be combined to also lower the degradation times of PLA or PGLA. Figure 1. Difference
between L and D lactic acids (Gupta et al, 2007)

Machiavelli And William Shakespeare s View Of The King
Shakespeare s view of the crown is that of royal incompetence, tyrannical behavior, and years of
discontentment for the people being resided over. Richard II tells the story of a tyrannical king whose
fate is sealed by a loyal noble, which was the typical way politics existed in sixteenth century
England. Regicide and usurpers became a familiar aspect of this story, and the enemy is the one who
has pledged their allegiance to the court. This is just a few of the pitfalls of the English government
seen in this story, that ultimately led to Richard II s demise. In this play, he is matched against Henry

This decision is sure to lead to his ruin because it was known to Bolingbroke and his father Gaunt, that
the king was involved in the murder of Thomas of Woodstock. Shakespeare shows that a king who is
merciful, is not industrious, instead very incompetent for not putting an end to both parties that know
of his treachery. Shakespeare goes on the show that Richard does not take counsel from those who
have the experience and knowledge to further his rule, much like when he decided to banish Mowbry
and Bolingbroke, that decision was done by himself, without hearing any advice or taking heed of
what the consequences might be. Even Gaunt had tried to help Richard even on his deathbed he says
that his life s counsel would not hear but hoped that his death s sad tale may yet undeaf his ear (II.i pg

keep and maintain his power, he who has connections and had witnessed those who succeeded him,
for it is a wise man ought always to follow the paths beaten by great men, and to imitate those who
have been supreme (Machiavelli 28). Richard s arrogance and lack of rationality to heed the wise man
s words are predictable, the steady progression of incompetence proves that England needs a
Machiavellian rule, instead of one who prefers flatterers advice. This damnation of self that is seen

Factor V Leiden is a single nucleotide substitution Guanine to Adenine at nucleotide 1691 which is
responsible for the single amino acid replacement (Arg506Gln).
Factor V Leiden is inactivated by the protein C and S nearly 10 times slower than the normal Factor V,
resulting in increased clotting factor that is why it is commonly called APC Resistance.
Factor V Leiden is the most common genetic cause of venous thrombosis, which leads to deadly
pulmonary embolism when the part of the clot breaks away to the pulmonary artery. It is involved in
20 40% of cases and is present in 3% of the general population.
The other major genetic causes of venous thrombosis (deficiencies of protein C and S) together
account for only 5 10% of cases.
Factor V Leiden increases the risk of venous thrombosis 3 8 times for heterozygous (one bad gene
inherited) and substantially more, 30 140 times for homozygous (two bad gene inherited) individuals.
2% of the general population was found to be heterozygous.
Risk is increased still further in situations such as pregnancy, oral contraceptive use, estrogen therapy,
malignancy, diabetes mellitus, immobilization, surgery, trauma, high blood pressure, obesity, smoking
or long time travel (commonly called economy class syndrome). In these cases risk of clotting can
increase dramatically.

The Threat Against Sea Turtles
There are over 1 million known species of plants and animals that in habit the plant s oceans, and
scientist estimate that there are over 9 million more species that have yet to be discovered. Those
numbers seem to have great value, but when put in perspective there are only 7 species of sea turtles
in the vast ocean, those numbers don t seem so big after all. Even more so when you say all 7 species
are on the endangered list of extinction. One of the biggest threat against sea turtles, and all other
oceanic life, is the pollution crisis of plastics, glass, and all other trash. But as long as people dump
their trash in the oceans, and it doesn t violate the government s dumping regulations, then it s
perfectly http://i.imgur.com/foQcVja.jpg legal. Without breaking any laws, people will always
continue to do it and the ocean will continue to suffer because of it. On the other side of dumping trash
into the oceans scientist are gathering huge amounts of data on how we re killing the oceans and
everything that lives in it. That is why we must come to our senses and use the common ground of
finding a new way to dispose of trash and help rebuild the oceans to sustain life on the planet. When it
comes to pollution in the oceans people automatically think that they re talking about glass, trash, and
plastic. However, The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) team has

The Effects Of Murine Chronic Cerebral Hypoperfusion
Abstract Murine chronic cerebral hypoperfusion (CCH) results in white matter (WM) injury and
behavioral deficits. Pericytes influence blood brain barrier (BBB) integrity and cerebral blood flow.
Under hypoxic conditions, perictyes detach from perivascular locations, increasing vessel
permeability and neuronal injury. This study characterizes the time course of BBB dysfunction and
pericyte coverage following murine experimental CCH secondary to bilateral carotid artery stenosis
(BCAS). Mice underwent BCAS or sham operation. On post procedure days 1, 3, 7 and 30, corpus
callosum BBB permeability was characterized using Evans blue (EB) extravasation and IgG staining
and pericyte coverage was calculated. The BCAS cohort demonstrated increased EB extravasation on
postoperative days 1 (p=.03) and 3 (p=.01) when compared to sham mice. Further, EB extravasation
was significantly greater (p=.03) at day 3 than at day 30 in BCAS mice. Positive IgG staining was
seen at post procedure day 3 in the BCAS group. BCAS mice demonstrated a nadir in pericyte
coverage on post operative day 3 (p50%) was reported to be 7% in women and 9% in men3. Clinical
carotid endarterectomy studies of cerebral hypoperfusion, demonstrate a nearly 25% incidence of

a television show on cybercrime scene investigations. Analyzing articles on this topic will help me
develop further knowledge on this topic and how it is considered a social problem in our society.
Computer crime refers to any violation of the law in which a computer is the target or means of
criminal activity (Mooney, Knox, Schacht, 2014, p.113). Computer crime is also known as
cybercrime. Cybercrime continues to have far reaching effects because it affects individuals,
companies, and organizations and is increasingly a problem in the globalized world we live in. This is
because we rely so much on cell phones, computers, and us many social network sites. Cybercrime is
considered a social problem because it negatively affects a large group of people in our society. In
2014, there were 1.5 million cyber attacks worldwide ( IBM Cyber Security Intelligence Index, 2015,
pg.13). One type of computer crime is identity theft. Identity theft is the use of someone else s
personal information to obtain credit or other economic rewards (Mooney, et al, 2014, pg.113).
Identity theft first became a crime in 1998, when Congress passed the Identity Theft and Assumption
Deterrence Act

Financial Statement For A Company s Core Business
1. by having a Good Operating Margin which is a margin ratio used in measuring a company s pricing
strategy and operating efficiency. Thus the operating margin. Measures your operating profitability, it
indicates how much of each dollar of revenues used is left over after both costs of goods sold and
operating expenses are considered. Operating margins are important because they measure efficiency.
The higher the operating margin, the more profitable a company s core business is. for example I
Created a Mock report Called Dean s Report I report the following Numbers on my Financial
statement for my Event I held.
Net Sales: $1,000,000
Cost of Goods Sold: $700,000
Rent: $20,000
Wages: $100,000
Other Operating Expenses: $50,000
Net sales all operating expenses = 530,000
Then Create a Formula Similar to this
Operating margin .53 = 530,000 operating income ______________________ Net sales 1,000,000
As you can see, Dean s operating income is $530,000 (Net sales all operating expenses). According to
the formula used, Dean s operating margin is .53. This means that 57 cents on every dollar of sales is
used to pay for variable costs. Only 53 cents remains to cover all non operating expenses or fixed
costs.
2. Working Capital Ratio
The working capital ratio, also called the current ratio. Is a liquidity ratio that measures a firm s ability
to pay off its current liabilities. For example financial obligation, with their current assets.

The Pursuit Of Possession Marketed By Popular Brands Essay
We communicate who we are through fashion. Fashion is poetic through textures, color, design, and
expression which signifies how connected we are to our clothes. Consumers rely on fashions status
quo to appeal to their need to buy the best from the best retail markets, yet still have an unawareness
of a don t ask, don t tell oblivion towards production of these expensive marvels. The target of the
pursuit of possession marketed by popular brands will make people focus more on materialistic value
instead of the reinvention of the fashion market in how our clothes are really made. That pair of jeans
you saw in a Black Friday sale advertisement, or a crew neck long sleeve shirt on sale at H M caught
your eye because to you, its worth the bargain, but to the person who made this item for you, it wasn t
worth their demise. The ill informed consumers of the fashion industry are unknowingly supportive to
the abusive labor practices of exploited sweatshop workers on the production of our clothing while
glorifying expensive brands made from the hands of penniless workers. The focus of this paper is to
be the voice of those workers, who make these pleasantries with literally their own blood, sweat, and
tears that us consumers take for granted, while shedding some much needed light on the nefarious acts
on sweatshop workers.
In the most labor dependent industry on earth, workers have no voice. The supply chain is constantly
on the rise, globalization of production is outsourced

I chose to compare the Buffalo Soldiers, who existed from 1867 1896, and their experiences with the current state of the US armed forces. I was drawn to author, ZZ Packer s Buffalo Soldiers because of my experience in the US armed services and, as I read the book it became clear that the US armed services today is very different from what it was at the time when the Buffalo Soldiers existed. I successfully recruited many men and women of multicultural backgrounds by relating my experiences in the army to them, and many of them have gone on to have brilliant careers in the United States armed services. As an African American service connected veteran I know that my experiences in the United States military are not unique. Many African Americans and many soldiers of all ethnic groups have inspired others to follow their path and that of the early pioneers. The greatest example of change for minorities in the US Armed Services over time is exemplified by General Colin Luther Powell, an African Caribbean American with an impeccable career as a statesman and a retired United States Army four star general. During his stint in the army, General Powell went on to reach the highest rank that an army officer in the United States Armed Services could reach, that of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff who advise the US Government in matters of armed conflict. I think that General Powell views became known as the Powell Doctrine by the media associated with the 1990 1991 Gulf War. The Powell Doctrine includes a list of questions all of which have to be answered affirmatively before military action is taken by the United States: 1. According to Kuykendall (1974), states that the style used in a community by law enforcement is based on different expectations regarding role performance (Kuykendall, 1974). Each style is used to maintain and enforce law and order in the community. The three policing styles that are used in the community are legalistic, watchman, and service style. The legalistic style of policing is focused on enforcing the law and resolving disputes by the book. Both policing style is used to enforce the law and maintain order in a culturally and ethnically diverse community, by making arrest, keeping the peace and issuing citations. Is it more prevalent now or just recognized more within our society? Those diagnosed with ADHD have a hard time concentrating and are prone to outburst based on the emotions they are feeling at the time rather than reason. This is caused by lower levels of dopamine in their brains. The most commonly prescribed drug to treat ADHD is Ritalin. The unfortunate truth is that currently it would require more dollars on both ends to accomplish such a task. Mothers eating processed foods during pregnancy and children eating quick and easy snacks are in my opinion creating a generation of individuals that have a lack of coping mechanisms directly contributed from the imbalance of a healthy cellular system. Although unaware of why they have a feeling of disconnect, this leads them to seek comfort in prescribed or controlled substances to feel calm or in control. This statement was said in the context that Hamlet is showing his tenders of affection to Ophelia, tenders meaning not legal tender. The first part of this charge tells Ophelia that she should be careful with who she accepts love from. The other, and more serious, meaning of Polonius s comment is that Ophelia will give Polonius a grandchild. This is drawn from the alternate meaning of fool, which is a term of endearment toward babies. Why does the speaker drink at all? cummings could be mentioning this detail in an effort to portray just how irrelevant this speech really is. The adverb rapidly occurs in a most unlikely position in this thought. If we eliminate the need for rhyming water with slaughter, since the necessary rhyme for this poem might well have been achieved without inverting the syntax, then cummings must have had some other reason for the inversion of the syntax. Could it be that by writing a poem, which expresses a theme of inverted or confused philosophy, cummings inverts his apparently objective commentary on the situation and the words in which he reports his commentary to produce an ironic tone? This line, then, further serves to point to the inverted philosophy of this speaker and foregrounds the insincerity and thoughtlessness behind this speech. In a week, three teaching periods of forty minutes each are allotted for the subject (World Data on Education, 2011). Similarly, following France which teaches moral education as a separate subject, Japanese moral education was established as special hour in the official Course of Study (World Data on Education, 2011). Therefore, as a teaching subject in school, like any other subject lessons, the Japanese moral education develops, incorporates and enhances its own instruction. Classified as general studies rather than academic study, it is taught once a week in elementary and lower secondary schools, allowing Japanese students from the first grade to the ninth grade to have 35 lesson hours of moral education in a regular school year (Bolton, 2015). Secondly, both Malaysian and Japanese moral education have explicit focus on nature. Malaysian moral education emphasizes on the love for the environment. The values relating to the environment require man to love and protect the environment, live harmoniously with the environment, maintain the good ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The concept of self and identity has become increasingly important in social science in recent years. There are many competing concepts about them. The term identity can be basically understood as how we understand ourselves. It generally entails how to category people into groups by differentiate them according to their characteristics. This essay will focus on the correlations of self and identity, and society. It will stress on if self and identity are separate from society with scholars support, particular on Mead and Goffman. However, only after we have the objective, social and impersonal sense of self the Me, we can then have the subjective, personal and intimate sense of self the I (Ransome, 2010). Thus, the self is not totally made of social aspect which receives information about them from society. Individuals have their own consciousness arising from themselves, although it needs to fellow after the arising of I. Another important sociologist need to mention here is Goffman. He addressed individuals daily life as the metaphor of the drama. For Goffman, social life is a series of dramatic performances. The actor who is performing, and the other co performers who Goffman refers to as members of the team (Ransome, 2010). The audiences are who witness the performance. Goffman focused on how the self is shaped by the dramatic interactions between social actors and their audiences (Ritzer and Goodman, 2006). When an individual is interacting with others, there are according to Goffman two impressions: the one individual gives and the one they give off (Goffman, 1990). An impression is given through speaking, and this is information that individuals want to give (Goffman, 1990). Another impression which is given off is through non verbal communication. From the start of school, Melinda Sordino is shunned, glared at, talked about, and poked at because of one incident at a party from the end of last summer. With her friends turned away, her grades down, her family combative, and her looks deteriorating, what does she have left? Nothing has been seeming to go right for Melinda in and out of school since that night. She has silently appointed someone responsible for this situation, someone named IT , Andy Evans. Every time he s around she feels sick. The protagonist of Speak , Melinda Sordino has become depressed, insecure of herself, and flustered around others. Depression can come from many things such as being overwhelmed, loss of something loved, or triggered by an illness. Melinda Sordino has lost all of her friends, acceptable grades, and her family life. She has become an introvert, not listening in class and ignoring any crowd of people. Late in Second Marking Period of Speak , after getting yelled at for her inadequate grades, Melinda finds a paper clip and remarks, I open up a paper clip and scratch it across the inside of my left wrist . Pitiful. If a suicide attempt is a cry for help, then what is this? A whimper, a peep? ( Rent Round Three pg.87), she talks about a cry for help , which is a sign of depression and she cuts her wrist, sort of, but it still draws blood, which is a major sign for not being content. Also, there are hints at the condition of her lips in parts of the novel, they are scabbed and chapped, she is picking at them. Maybe a sign of depression, a nervous, anxious habit? All in all, Melinda Sordino is depressed because of the loss of many things she loved in her life. Not being confident in yourself can cause emotional damage that isn t easy to reverse, and Melinda belongs to many insecurities. It isn t easy for her to see what she has become since the incident. Imagine how unorganized, chaotic, and difficult it would be to handle money through every employee without the cash register. This is no longer a problem for any business anymore thanks to James Ritty. The cash register was invented in 1879 by James Ritty, a saloonkeeper in Dayton, Ohio. (thecorememory.com). The prototype machine had a large, clock like face and a row of keys for entering amounts from 5 cents to 95 cents (by fives) and from $1 to $9. A mechanism inside the machine recorded total sales. He created this invention because he believed that his employees were stealing money from his saloon, and with the cash register being invented, they no longer can. Finally, the cash register was the most important invention in American history, due to its major impact on businesses around the world. • 29. Different Kinds Of Polymers And Polymers A polymer is a large molecule that is made from many small repeating chemicals called monomers. In the Greek language, polymer literally means many parts. Polymers are being used more and more in medical devices, such as drug delivery, screws, plates, fixation pins, suture anchors and many other applications. Some of the most useful polymers for medical uses are poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and poly(glycolic acid) (PGA). They are useful in medicine because of the fact that they can degrade within the body to lesser components that will cause very minimal negative effects. Scientists have found many different ways to control the degradation of these two polymers. Combining two or more different kinds of monomers during polymer formation is called copolymerization. Changing the amount of different kinds of monomers during copolymerization of either poly(lactic co glycolic) (PLGA) or PLA can change degradation characteristics. [2] For example, combining lactic acid and glycolic acid to make PLGA will degrade quicker. There are also stereo copolymers, such as L lactic acid, and D lactic acid which are the same chemical, but are mirror images of each other (figure 1). These can be combined to also lower the degradation times of PLA or PGLA. Figure 1. Factor V Leiden is the most common genetic cause of venous thrombosis, which leads to deadly pulmonary embolism when the part of the clot breaks away to the pulmonary artery. It is involved in 20 40% of cases and is present in 3% of the general population. The other major genetic causes of venous thrombosis (deficiencies of protein C and S) together account for only 5 10% of cases. Factor V Leiden increases the risk of venous thrombosis 3 8 times for heterozygous (one bad gene inherited) and substantially more, 30 140 times for homozygous (two bad gene inherited) individuals. 2% of the general population was found to be heterozygous. This study characterizes the time course of BBB dysfunction and pericyte coverage following murine experimental CCH secondary to bilateral carotid artery stenosis (BCAS). Mice underwent BCAS or sham operation. On post procedure days 1, 3, 7 and 30, corpus callosum BBB permeability was characterized using Evans blue (EB) extravasation and IgG staining and pericyte coverage was calculated. Analyzing articles on this topic will help me develop further knowledge on this topic and how it is considered a social problem in our society. Computer crime refers to any violation of the law in which a computer is the target or means of criminal activity (Mooney, Knox, Schacht, 2014, p.113). Computer crime is also known as cybercrime. Cybercrime continues to have far reaching effects because it affects individuals, companies, and organizations and is increasingly a problem in the globalized world we live in.
