The stance that Spinoza has on substance is that there is only one substance, out of which all else is
somehow constituated. Substance for the Stoics, is also seen as a monist philosophy. Because Stoics
think of the world as a unitary system that contains all beings they should be considered substance

Okonkwo is a revered and affluent warrior in the Umofia clan. Umofia is part of a lower Nigerian
tribe that has an alliance with nine other villages. He is upset and reminded of his fathers actions so to

person. On the other hand Okonkwo is a hard working clansman who provides for his family. His son
Nwoye is idle like Unoka and Okonkwo is fearful that his son might end up like his father. Okonkwo
makes a deal with a neighboring village where he receives a boy named Ikemefuna. He is Okonkwo s
ideal son. Nwoye and Ikemefuna form a bond with each other. Okonkwo does not want to get to
attached to Ikemefuna because he does not want to show affection which then would show weakness.
This attack ends the week of peace. Okonkwo tries to make the situation better but the people in the
community are in disbelief. Ogbuefi Ezeudu a prominent figure in the village informs Okonkwo that

time oriented. This is a very American way of thinking. American schools, businesses, and homes
often have a clock in every room, and nearly everyone wears a watch. Each day is organized into time
periods of specific length, and use of each period is fully planned. Anniversaries, dates, and historical
chronologies also have special importance.
I am a holistic thinker. This orientation tends to be present in Hebrew and other non western cultures

western cultures use the right hemisphere which is holistic, emotional, pattern recognition, and
