Accounting Scandals Of Enron Company

Accounting Scandals Reflection
Enron was founded in July of 1985. Enron was an electricity and natural gas company which was a
fortune 500 company and it was ranked the sixth largest energy company in the world. Enron s stock
went from a peak of $90.75 to $0.67. This was very detrimental to stockholders. Enron s top
executives sold their stock a long time before the stock price fell. A lot of lower level employees could
not sell their stock because of deals they made with the company. This later caused a lot of these
employees to lose their life savings and everything they had worked for. Enron used a very complex
accounting method to trick the stock market. This method was called mark to market accounting.
Enron used this method of accounting to predict and project their earnings in a long term period.
These earnings were projected based on the long term energy contracts Enron was going to make. This
could have been money that was not made at that point. This made Enron s stock price skyrocket at a
very fast pace, making a lot of employees and general public invest in the stock. Enron stock seemed
to be a very secure and profitable investment which would make people lots of money. The Fortune
500 company went down very quickly. In August of 2001, the CEO of Enron, Jeffrey Skilling
resigned. He randomly resigned and a lot of suspicions arose. His resignation was described to be
because of personal reasons.

Jeremy Bentham s Theory Of The Panopticon
In February of 2004, an advanced prison system was born for all the world to take part of. The prison,
which was designed for a younger generation, was built to monitor all inmates at all hours of the day,
convert what was once a manual process to automatic, and to collect personal information from each
individual. The lockup is host to billions of inmates, each having their own cell. One might assume
this prison is a building, but it is more a state of mind. Located in the public s view, where all can see
it each and every day, anyone is able to join and only takes a click of a mouse. This prison is
Facebook. Michel Foucault, a French philosopher, has brought to attention insights that help clarify
how power and discipline work together to create surveillance for a large group. Foucault passed away
before the birth of the internet, but has provided society with knowledge on how surveillance is
applicable to the online world. In the essay Panopticism, Foucault expands on Jeremy Bentham s
theory of the panopticon. Proposed by Bentham in the mid 19th century, the panopticon is a prison
which was used to observe inmates constantly (Torres, 2017). The prison has a tower in the middle,
where each inmate can be seen from the tower by a guard (Foucault, 1975, 200). Therefore, the
prisoners always think they are being watched as they cannot see who is in the tower, or if there even
is anyone in the tower watching. Foucault describes this in his essay as being the major effects of

Moral Realism, Moral Relativism, And Moral Skepticism
When people hear the term ethics, most of their minds turn to dilemmas discussed by figures such as
Immanuel Kant, Jeremy Bentham, Aristotle, and other famous philosophers. These men debated what
is considered to be morally good and how a person can become ethical. Operating under normative
ethics, these philosophers did not question whether or not ethics even existed, but rather if they exist,
what are they? The branch of ethics that questions the foundation of ethics and morality is metaethics.
There are three standpoints when debating metaethics: moral realism, moral relativism, and moral
skepticism. I will be discussing my argument for moral realism and contend that moral relativism and
skepticism are inaccurate. I will prove the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, in America, it is not uncommon to see a child spanked for misbehaving or disobeying his
or her parent. However, in Sweden, this action is not only illegal, not also frowned upon. A moral
relativist would explain that this is because moral facts can exist and be objective in America, but can
be still objective and independent of Sweden s morals. Lastly, disagreeing with both moral realist and
relativists, moral skeptics believe there are no moral facts; all morals are equivalent to opinions, and
they are different for everyone. Moral skepticism says that all morals are simply rules created to
control humans and their behaviors. For example, the moral skeptic would argue that the reason
controversy exists over issues such as abortion is that each person has opinions that are independent of
others. Skeptics would also say that there are no right answers to moral dilemmas, because each
person will come to a different conclusion.
The validity of realism in metaethics exists based on the fact that humans have certain physical
attributes that occur as a reaction of how we act we have physical reactions when something morally
wrong occurs. More specifically, the human anatomy responds negatively to unethical activities. For
example, the idea of lying is prima facie ethically wrong according to realism; telling the truth is
objectively ethical. This is proven to be true based on the human body alone; it naturally reacts when
we lie by raising our heart

The Importance Of Student In School
In school I have always been a relatively successful student, and I was always considered one of the
smarter kids by my parents and a lot of the other students. In about sixth grade when they started to
split the grade up into certain classes for the advanced kids and the kids that weren t considered
advanced. I was in the classes with all the kids that weren t considered advanced. At the time though, I
didn t realize what they were doing or that I wasn t actually considered a smart kid by the school, I
just knew all my friends were in classes I wasn t in, and it really upset me. I got put in the classes with
a bunch of kids I didn t like, or just people I didn t know, and had never seen before. I still had the bus
where I got to see a few of my friends, but other than that, they just weren t around. All of fourth grade
year I hadn t struggled at all, and everything came relatively easy to me. It was just really easy. I knew
I wasn t a dumb kid, but up until then my parents had always had to help me. They carried me through
school, they had just been my own personal teacher and were always there if I needed any help at all.
This was definitely weird to me that I didn t need them anymore that year. About half way through the
school year, I was talking to one of my friends about school and how easy it had been going so far this
year. He then started telling me how hard he thought it was and how he was really struggling, I just
kind of blew it off, and was thinking he

Effects Of The Civil Rights Movement
The Civil Rights Movement caused conflict after African Americans in Southern states were
mistreated and had very different rights as the white. Some of the inequalities that African Americans
had to face include the opportunities for housing, education and employment, the right to vote, and
discrimination in several public places. This also gave the Supreme Court a new aspect since
discrimination and segregation were legal. With a great leader such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
protesting for equal rights, the African Americas were successful at getting the same rights as
everyone else and the right to vote. The Civil Rights Movement was a success and nothing would
have been possible without the local grass root activism efforts and its ... Show more content on

In 1941 A. Philip Randolph was going to lead an all black march on Washington unless President
Franklin D. Roosevelt did something in respect to ending racial discrimination. Roosevelt did not
want the march to be successful and become a bigger problem so he agreed to a Fair Employment
Practices Committee. Movements kept growing and were becoming more popular as African
Americans from the South tried to increase black voting strength that even soldiers were returning
home to fight this racism. Activists were trying to end school segregation as well. The protestors were
risking everything since homes were burned and churches as well. At this point everyone s goal was to
at least have equality between black and white schools instead of racial integration. In 1950 NAACP
decided to take everything to the court and fight for what they believed in. Brown V. Board of
Education in Topeka apparently originated in Roberts v. City of Boston...(1849), upholding school
segregation against attack as being violative of a State constitutional guarantee of equality (Primary
Source Suppliment 1 P.29 2). In 1955 grassroot activists in Montgomery, Alabama created a boycott.
Rosa Parks, Nixon, and NAACP were part of this boycott that later became well known in
Montgomery. This Montgomery movement was then leaded by Martin Luther King Jr. who created his
Southern Leadership Conference (SCLC) to help him with these discrimination

Union Square As A Tourist Attraction
In a little neighborhood, we all know and love called Union Square has a history that would be
unknown to the naked eye. The park has undergone redevelopment multiple times in hopes of
bettering the neighborhood. Within the little area, there is shopping, varieties of food, all kinds of
entertainment, and of course, places to rest. Even though there is not the same overwhelming amount
of stimulation as Times Square, Union Square has still become a big tourist attraction Rather, all along
the outskirts of it are different neighborhoods we re all familiar with, such as the Flatiron District and
Greenwich Village. As Union Square underwent re design and gentrification, so did the outer

It had been attempted to demolish homes in the neighborhood in the 1960 s in order to create more
room for traffic on the streets, as well was create highways. Jane Jacobs, who lived in Greenwich
village which is one of the neighborhoods that border Union Square, helped put a stop to the
demolition because she believed in the importance of street life. Despite further reconstruction of the
parks area, the street life has remained strong. The farmers market that exists year round opened in the
mid 1970 s and has been around ever since. Even with the previous demolition, crime rates in the park
rose again. Union Square park underwent more renovation which was organized by Edward Koch in
order to make the neighborhood and park a safer place for people to be. Plazas, subway kiosks and
more lighting were added in hopes to decrease crime and increase revenue by attracting middle and
upper class people to move in, as well as be a place for tourism. As the park began to change, so did
the surrounding neighborhoods. Greenwich village and the Flatiron District Union Square are two of
the many neighborhoods which border Union Square. In the early 20th century, the Flatiron District
was the place to be if you wanted to go to bars or go dancing. It was marked as one of the most
happening places to be back then. Although there was a residential area, it was rather an area to go

The Uniform Resource Locator ( Url ) Essay
These days if we see any business whether it is a small or a big but all of them should have online
existence. And these data online can be stored through a web site or a web page. The user wishing to
access this information will then search for it, but there are billions of web sites and web pages. How
will one be able to search for the specific web page or website? So there should be a specific name,
number or name tag through which we can differentiate all websites and web pages. The URL plays
the same role as the name or identity of a web page or website. Basically a URL is one type of
uniform resource identifier (URI); the generic term for all types of names and address that refers to
objects on the World Wide Web. There is a specific format of URL. We can also say URL as a web
address. The uniform resource locator (URL) was developed by Tim Berners Lee in 1994 and the
Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) URI working group. The URL format is specified in RFC
1738 Uniform Resource Locator (URL). Every domain name has a suffix that indicates which top
level domain (TLD) it belongs to. There are only a limited number of such domains. For example:
.com, .net, .gov, .edu, .org etc. because the internet is based on IP address, not domain names, every
web server requires a Domain Name System (DNS) server to translate domain names into IP address.
A domain name is the address of your web site. This is what is entered by your users who wants to see

literary world recognizes him as one of the most prolific poets of all time. However, his grave in

1840 he published Sordello, Browning published a series of eight pamphlets titled, Bells and
Pomegranates from 1841 to 1845. Although, this work did not win critical esteem or popularity, it did

1844 she praised Browning in one of her works and received a grateful letter from him in response.
They met in 1845, fell madly in love, and ignoring the disapproval of her father eloped to Italy in

Elizabeth Barrett Browning, their maid Elizabeth Wilson, and their dog Flush, stepped ashore from the
Southampton boat at Le Havre. They left behind them a very angry man (Karlin 169). In fact, Mr.
Barrett returned Elizabeth s letters unopened for the rest of her life. Her health improved in Italy and
she gave birth to a son in 1849, Robert Wiedermann Barrett Browning. Perhaps, her best known work,

Sandman Short Story
In the middle of the desert lie various tepees. The chieftain of this settlement came out of his tent,
frustrated at the noise produced from angry men outside.
What s all that racket? the chieftain said questioningly.
It s the troublemaker, Sandman. We had caught him reading the white man s books. This is both an
insult to our ancestors and our law. You cannot protect him anymore, chief. The miscellaneous
tribesman then dropped a book on the ground, with a loud resounding thud.
He will be scalped! Any objections? No one objected, not showing any fear for Sandman.
Then he will be punished!
A large group of indians were chasing Sandman through the desert, yelling loudly for punishment.
They had thought they could catch Sandman, due to the fact that they had horses. Strangely however,
Sandman was OUTRUNNING the horses.
He s picking up speed! That running style... One tribesman thought.
I ve seen it before! That running style, It s a style used by the white man! The style they use for
winning trophies and money! It s for running short distances! Another tribesman thought.
What are you doing?! Don t let him get to the hills! Put more into your horses! One tribesman
shouted, gaining speed on sandman. One tribesman to the side had gotten tired of this, and had finally
caught up with Sandman. He pulled out an axe and swung, but Sandman did something strange. He
ducked under the horse, and used the horse s kick to fly towards a nearby plateau, and took no time to
catch on and start climbing.
What the? He dove under my horse! Sandman, what are you thinking? You got purposefully kicked to
fly back towards the plateau...
The bows! Use your bows to shoot him! One had remembered. They all quickly shuffled for their
bows, and took aim. But before firing, a strange arm with what looked like crumbled skin and
exaggerated knuckles wearing leather gloves extended out of Sandman, scooping sand out of the
plateau and quickly throwing it into the tribesmans field of vision, stopping them from firing due to
uncertainty.
What are you, Sandman? Are you really from the same tribe as me? One man

Julius Caesar And Napoleon Bonaparte
History holds many great and inspiring leaders, some being remembered by many as kings of their
time. Two of these incredible individuals are Julius Caesar and Napoleon Bonaparte, both legends and
incredible rulers of their time. These men represented what a leader should be, and exactly what made
leaders so powerful. Although these two men lived in completely different time periods there are
similarities and differences that connect the two. Napoleon Bonaparte was born on August 15, 1769 in
Ajaccio, Corsica. He came from a respected family, the family strayed away from being involved with
the military. Napoleon joined the military, and developed a skill as a leader. He continued to rise

He held a grudge for being exiled and strove to once again become powerful, even more so than

and power hungry, Napoleon was a driven man, never secure, never satisfied. Power is my mistress,
he said. He demonstrated the charisma and intelligence necessary to lead a nation. He was a well
respected leader that set the stage for many others to come, and that is revered by many. Julius Caesar
was the roman emperor from 49 44 BCE and was regarded as a great and powerful leader. His family
was very well respected and helped him attain the tools necessary to lead. He was a supporter of the
Populares, who were a political group that worked towards a better life for the middle and lower class.
He had an amazing amount of energy, physical and mental, and held good health for most of his life.
He inspired the public to follow him; thus, they named him emperor of Rome. This led him to

Mr. Musk said, in the next two to three years Tesla Motors plans to make their electric cars price range
from about 30 thousand to 35 thousand dollars. These more affordable electric cars will be 20%

one single charge. By then Tesla Motors plans to have supercharge networks positioned throughout the
US and Europe, allowing Tesla vehicles to be able to drive across the United States. Old auto
industries hate that Tesla Motors are bringing these new innovations to the forefront as it disrupts their
idea of the perfect auto industry , which includes the worst car salesmen, okay safety, somewhat bad

However, with the 2015 s The Visit he has shown signals of his recreation of the genre as well as a

surprised from this movie. At this point, we could agree that M. Night Shyamalan has been returned

The Communist Manifesto, By Karl Marx And Emile Durkheim
Modernity has impacted many areas of day to day life in the 20th century, from the way that society
interacts with each other in the form of technology to the use of language and even the way that
members of society are expected to live their lives, with there being less of a balance between work
and leisure time in the modern area than ever before. This essay will look at what has lead today s
society to be where it currently is while analyzing the work of Karl Marx and Emile Durkheim.

history as a series of class struggles (historical materialism), in this Marx predicted that the upcoming
proletarian revolution would sweep aside the capitalist system for good, making the workingmen the
new ruling class of the world.
Karl Marx was one of sociology greatest thinkers and philosophers, one of his most famous pieces of
work was das kapitial which has been linked heavily as a first part of the volume for the working
class, although Marx did not live to see his ideas on communism happen. however, his writings did go
on to form the base of modern communism (bbc history),
Emile Durkheim on the other hand has often been called one of the founding fathers of sociology, his

The Negative Consequences Of Plagiarism In The Modern Age
Recent memory has been filled with technological advances following one after another; the twenty
first century has been an era in which change occurs at a nearly exponential rate. Each of these
advances has brought new opportunities for students and educators to further the learning experiences.
Few students can imagine a time before beneficial technologies like interactive white boards or the
near infinite resources held within the internet. However, these same resources which can be
positively used by students to supplements their education can also be used to unethically benefit from
the hard work of others. In the modern age, plagiarism is a tempting, easy, and accessible ploy utilized
by students across the world. In spite of the shifts in technology and increased ease with which
plagiarizers can operate, academia remains staunch in its stance against the theft of other s intellectual
property. At all educational levels, teachers still stress the importance of using proper citations and the
administrations of various high schools and colleges have strict anti plagiarism policies. However, the
methodologies of teachers and administrators have changed to fit the times. In high school, many
English teachers spend entire weeks teaching their students the proper methods of citation on paper
and using online resources. Likewise, school officials explain to their students on a yearly basis the
negative consequences of plagiarizing works while providing them with the

Rhetoric Of Malcolm X
Malcolm X s upbringing was one of extreme struggle and violence, as such it is unsurprising that
when he got older and involved with racial politics he took a more extreme approach. Whilst Martin
Luther King and other civil rights leaders were expunging the importance of equality and becoming a
racially integrated society Malcolm X was loudly calling for self imposed segregation of African
Americans. Joining the nation of Islam helped to define and shape Malcolm X s philosophy of race
and until his eventual Hajj to Mecca he remained furiously racist towards white people. Malcolm X
was despite his unique character simply the voice of an oppressed and angry group of people in
America with the Nation of Islam being a huge voice in the civil rights era. Martin luther King s
approach of nonviolent protest was put into perspective by Malcolm X s fiery rhetoric and perhaps
even helped to give more power to Kings push for concrete racial policy change.
Malcolm X is well known to be the outspoken alternative to Kings talk of peace and integration,
however, despite this it is known that he had a real feeling of respect towards him. Malcolm X
represented the African Americans who were at the bottom rungs of society, those that were poor and
angry at the generations of oppression they had been forced to endure. In his autobiography he
describes in detail the nature of a system that oppressed black Americans on a massive scale. Martin
Luther King always had a much bigger following than

Food Culture With High Fructose Corn Syrup Essay
Damaging the Food Culture with High Fructose Corn Syrup
The food culture that we have are practices, beliefs, and ways we use to make food and consume it.
Furthermore it is how we understand it as a whole and how it can shape us. Certain foods all around us
can change people individually or as a group, the ability to express ourselves with food is
endless. Some people may love the food for flavor , some may love to take pictures of the food and
some people may just eat it because of their religion. People in the food culture can express whatever
they want with food in many other ways, for example financial status, power, creativity, etc. It is
amazing what people can do when it come to this, but what people do not know are its dangers.
Sometimes people only see the good part behind the food and are oblivious to what it really is. The
audience can maybe overlook how the food was made and in many ways overlook what is good for
them and what is not. Many of the foods nowadays are made in labs and in so many different ways we
can not think of. A certified dietitian named Katherine Zeratsky says High fructose corn syrup can
contribute unwanted calories that are linked to health problems, such as weight gain, type 2 diabetes,
etc . All of these health problems dealing with the chemical high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). This
product is in sodas, Fruit drinks, Syrups, and even more. We consume this everyday and it is cheaper
to make it that real sugar and it apparently taste better.

The Decline Of Jazz Music
Over the past several decades, there has been a great decline in the popularity of jazz music. The
Decline of Jazz has fueled a debate as to whether or not the genre is dead. Many music scholars and
fans argue that jazz s popularity is declining because the people who appreciate the music are aging
and newer generations do not share their love of the music. For as long as I can remember, my parents
have played jazz music in our home, while cooking meals together, or entertaining guests, or reading
on a Sunday morning. My familiarity with the music from a young age is what caused me to start
singing songs from artists like Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone. Jazz served as the foundation for my
love and appreciation of music, both old and new, which is why I believe there is a place for jazz in
the future. Over the past century, jazz music has evolved immensely so much so that some people
mistake the genre s evolution for complete disappearance. But jazz is not dead. Instead, it has been
woven together with other genres, such as rock and pop, and embraced new sounds and techniques
that make it difficult for people to recognize as jazz.
The musicians who have expressed a deep love and passion for the music are the ones who have kept
jazz alive. When jazz was first being played, the fame or the money that accompanied the music s
rising popularity did not motivate musicians. They played purely out of love for the music and the
message it communicated to audiences. In the jazz

Use of Third Person and Innocence of Language in Ak eacute;
The Nigerian novelist Wole Soyinka s memoir, Ak eacute;, is a story told through the eyes of a child.
Many incidents and the dialogues within these incidents are written in a tone which is suggestive of
the innocence and actions which would only be performed by someone in a child like state of mind.
Soyinka s masterful use of this tone, and the primary use of first person in story telling combine to
form a realistic childhood picture.
In the third chapter we find young Wole describing a sort of parade which is passing before the walls
of his home compound. This point in time seems to be when Wole first discovers the world beyond his

...And where is home?
...I told him that I lived in Ak eacute;.
It has a big church, I added, Just outside our walls.
Ah ah, near the church. Tell me, whaznname? I guessed that he was asking what my name was, so I
told him, My name is Wole.
Wonlay. Good. And your father s name?
My father s name is Headmaster.
What?
My father s name is Headmaster. Sometimes his name is Essay. (46 47)
The same kind of humor can be found in a short dialogue between Wole and the same officer involved
in the previous excerpt. In this dialogue, Wole sees a newspaper on the officer s desk. In the same way
that some children have trouble understanding the concept of one radio station broadcasting a signal to
hundreds of radios, Wole mistakes many newspapers as one, singular entity.
You are reading my father s paper.
You mean he is the editor?
He has one every week. (48)
In chapter nine, we find Wole being subjected to one of the rituals performed on the youth. The
significance of the ritual is never stated and so it can only be assumed that the purpose is both to ward
off evil and to serve as a coming of age ceremony. This event can be

The Strategic Board Game Strategy
The strategic board game, Diplomacy, focuses on wars, but more importantly the act of negotiating.
The players are responsible for forming strategies by both developing and breaking alliances with
their competitors. The game is set in Europe during World War I with most teams beginning with
similar resources. Each player team competes as an either Austria Hungary, Turkey, Italy, England,
France, Russia, or Germany. With at least three home center game pieces on the board, there are
strategic movements in order to control one of the eighteen supply centers. This involves phases of
negotiation prior to movement of the game piece. There is no factor of luck. The main variable in the
game is each team s ability to convince the others to do what they want. The core game strategy is
negotiation. This board game at times mirrors actual history and educates the players as to the method
by which a world war can happen. Both in the game and in actual life, everyone is envious of England
because of its location and resources as well as having a developed army. Russia Germany and France
are potential threats. Many of the alliances that occurred during World War I did not actually happen
in our game of Diplomacy. There were several shocking twists and turns. In our game, Italy and
Russia stayed rather benign and non engaging. They moved some pieces out of their countries;
however, they primarily just protected their home countries. Germany, just as in a real life map, is

Why Western Governors University Essay

Choosing what college to attend can be a daunting process at any time. Selecting a school as an adult
student can be even more difficult. Beyond the normal considerations of cost, program types,
traditional school or online, and location, there are additional factors to consider as an adult student.
These may include work schedule conflicts, family life, distance to travel, and credit earned for life
experience. The nineteen governors who founded Western Governors University took these things into
consideration when developing the school and its programs. They developed a school that offers a
truly exceptional level of quality in education at a price that is around half of that charged by other
schools. So if low cost, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This occurs because the education received is competency based, rather than credit based. If a student
has prior experience and/or knowledge of a particular subject, or is able to work quickly and learn fast,
he or she can demonstrate that competence very quickly and move on to another subject. ( About
WGU: How We re Different, 2010) The student is also billed per semester, not per credit or course
taken. This allows the student to complete as many credits as he or she can adequately handle, all for
the same low price. This saves the student both time and money, both of which are precious in today s
economy. ( Tuition and Financial Aid, 2010) Students today are also looking for a school that is
convenient for them, both in location and in flexibility of scheduling. Western Governors University
offers convenience in both areas. Since it is an online school, the location couldn t be any more
appropriate. It is simply wherever the student has access to the internet and the time to study, whether
that is at home, on a break at work, or even on vacation. In addition, there are no set times for classes,
so a student can spend just a few minutes or long hours studying the necessary material whenever it is
suitable for him or her. What could be more convenient than working at one s own pace at a location
of one s own choosing? One might think that in exchange for lower tuition fees and no set class times,

Congestive Heart Failure
Introduction
Everyone loses pumping ability in their heart as they age. The serious case of heart failure develops
when other health conditions cause the heart to work harder or become damaged due to increased
stress. Heart failure is usually a chronic disease. It gradually tends to become worse. By the time
someone is diagnosed with it, the heart has most likely begun to lose pumping capacity for quits some
time. Nearly five million Americans are living with heart failure and 550,000 new cases are diagnosed
each year. This paper will discuss what heart failure is, and what nursing interventions may be of help

This excess fluid or congestion is where the term congestive heart failure comes from.
Right sided failure is often a result of left sided failure. When the left side fails, increased fluid
pressure develops in the lungs and damages the heart s right side. When pumping power is lost in the
right side, blood backs up in the veins causing swelling in the legs and ankles.
The heart tries to make up for loss of pumping capacity in three ways enlarging, developing more
muscle mass, and pumping faster. By enlarging, the heart contracts more strongly and pumps more
blood. When the contracting cells of the heart increase in size, an increase in muscle mass also occurs.
Pumping faster helps to increase the heart s output.
The body also does other things to help compensate for the loss in power in the heart. Blood vessels
narrow to keep the blood pressure up. The body diverts the majority of the blood to the heart and the
brain. Eventually the heart can t keep up and the person will suffer from fatigue, breathing problems
or various other symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, loss of appetite, nausea, confusion, or
increased heart rate. Factors such as smoking, being overweight, having a diet high in fat and
cholesterol, and not exercising can contribute to heart failure.
Background
After reviewing medical journals related to my topic, I discovered that many physicians and nurses
think that congestive heart failure is

AIDS Denialism And AIDS Conspiracies
Political leadership is vital to influencing people s beliefs in the credibility of AIDS conspiracies.
Charismatic leaders also plant the seeds of denialism in the minds of the general public, which fuels
AIDS denialism and AIDS conspiracies. For example, influential leaders such as Louis Farrakhan,
Jeremiah Wright, Will Smith, Spike Lee, and Bill Cosby have stated that HIV is being used as an
agent to harm the black community. For example, Louis Farrakhanㄧleader of The Nation of Islam
promoted the ineffective AIDS drug Kermon as a nostrum to the black community. Kermon was
introduced in the 1990 s after a clinical trial study conducted by the Kenyan Medical Research
Institution, and published results from the study concluded that the drug improved the health of AIDS
patients and even resulted in some patients sero reverting to an HIV negative status (Nattrass 2012).
In conclusion, HIV scientists being skeptical about the drug due to the inconsistencies within the
clinical trial, Kermon was heavily promoted in the African American community. Farrakhan sold
Kermon to AIDS patients through clinics operated by the Nation of Islam. During this time, The
Nation of Islam s publication Final Call promoted conspiracy theories about the man made origin of
AIDS, and claimed that FDA approved antiretrovirals were poisonous and a part of a white conspiracy
to kill blacks (Epstein 1996). Louis Farrakhan assisted in promoting AIDS conspiracy beliefs while
advocating for an ineffective

  • 3. Accounting Scandals Of Enron Company Baasit Kazi Ms. Bogert College Accounting 1 1B 28 April, 2015 Accounting Scandals Reflection Enron was founded in July of 1985. Enron was an electricity and natural gas company which was a fortune 500 company and it was ranked the sixth largest energy company in the world. Enron s stock went from a peak of $90.75 to $0.67. This was very detrimental to stockholders. Enron s top executives sold their stock a long time before the stock price fell. A lot of lower level employees could not sell their stock because of deals they made with the company. This later caused a lot of these employees to lose their life savings and everything they had worked for. Enron used a very complex accounting method to trick the stock market. This method was called mark to market accounting. Enron used this method of accounting to predict and project their earnings in a long term period. These earnings were projected based on the long term energy contracts Enron was going to make. This could have been money that was not made at that point. This made Enron s stock price skyrocket at a very fast pace, making a lot of employees and general public invest in the stock. Enron stock seemed to be a very secure and profitable investment which would make people lots of money. The Fortune 500 company went down very quickly. In August of 2001, the CEO of Enron, Jeffrey Skilling resigned. He randomly resigned and a lot of suspicions arose. His resignation was described to be because of personal reasons. ... • 4. Jeremy Bentham s Theory Of The Panopticon In February of 2004, an advanced prison system was born for all the world to take part of. The prison, which was designed for a younger generation, was built to monitor all inmates at all hours of the day, convert what was once a manual process to automatic, and to collect personal information from each individual. The lockup is host to billions of inmates, each having their own cell. One might assume this prison is a building, but it is more a state of mind. Located in the public s view, where all can see it each and every day, anyone is able to join and only takes a click of a mouse. This prison is Facebook. Michel Foucault, a French philosopher, has brought to attention insights that help clarify how power and discipline work together to create surveillance for a large group. Foucault passed away before the birth of the internet, but has provided society with knowledge on how surveillance is applicable to the online world. In the essay Panopticism, Foucault expands on Jeremy Bentham s theory of the panopticon. Proposed by Bentham in the mid 19th century, the panopticon is a prison which was used to observe inmates constantly (Torres, 2017). The prison has a tower in the middle, where each inmate can be seen from the tower by a guard (Foucault, 1975, 200). Therefore, the prisoners always think they are being watched as they cannot see who is in the tower, or if there even is anyone in the tower watching. Foucault describes this in his essay as being the major effects of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Moral Realism, Moral Relativism, And Moral Skepticism When people hear the term ethics, most of their minds turn to dilemmas discussed by figures such as Immanuel Kant, Jeremy Bentham, Aristotle, and other famous philosophers. These men debated what is considered to be morally good and how a person can become ethical. Operating under normative ethics, these philosophers did not question whether or not ethics even existed, but rather if they exist, what are they? The branch of ethics that questions the foundation of ethics and morality is metaethics. There are three standpoints when debating metaethics: moral realism, moral relativism, and moral skepticism. I will be discussing my argument for moral realism and contend that moral relativism and skepticism are inaccurate. I will prove the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, in America, it is not uncommon to see a child spanked for misbehaving or disobeying his or her parent. However, in Sweden, this action is not only illegal, not also frowned upon. A moral relativist would explain that this is because moral facts can exist and be objective in America, but can be still objective and independent of Sweden s morals. Lastly, disagreeing with both moral realist and relativists, moral skeptics believe there are no moral facts; all morals are equivalent to opinions, and they are different for everyone. Moral skepticism says that all morals are simply rules created to control humans and their behaviors. For example, the moral skeptic would argue that the reason controversy exists over issues such as abortion is that each person has opinions that are independent of others. Skeptics would also say that there are no right answers to moral dilemmas, because each person will come to a different conclusion. The validity of realism in metaethics exists based on the fact that humans have certain physical attributes that occur as a reaction of how we act we have physical reactions when something morally wrong occurs. More specifically, the human anatomy responds negatively to unethical activities. For example, the idea of lying is prima facie ethically wrong according to realism; telling the truth is objectively ethical. This is proven to be true based on the human body alone; it naturally reacts when we lie by raising our heart ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Importance Of Student In School In school I have always been a relatively successful student, and I was always considered one of the smarter kids by my parents and a lot of the other students. In about sixth grade when they started to split the grade up into certain classes for the advanced kids and the kids that weren t considered advanced. I was in the classes with all the kids that weren t considered advanced. At the time though, I didn t realize what they were doing or that I wasn t actually considered a smart kid by the school, I just knew all my friends were in classes I wasn t in, and it really upset me. I got put in the classes with a bunch of kids I didn t like, or just people I didn t know, and had never seen before. I still had the bus where I got to see a few of my friends, but other than that, they just weren t around. All of fourth grade year I hadn t struggled at all, and everything came relatively easy to me. It was just really easy. I knew I wasn t a dumb kid, but up until then my parents had always had to help me. They carried me through school, they had just been my own personal teacher and were always there if I needed any help at all. This was definitely weird to me that I didn t need them anymore that year. About half way through the school year, I was talking to one of my friends about school and how easy it had been going so far this year. He then started telling me how hard he thought it was and how he was really struggling, I just kind of blew it off, and was thinking he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Effects Of The Civil Rights Movement The Civil Rights Movement caused conflict after African Americans in Southern states were mistreated and had very different rights as the white. Some of the inequalities that African Americans had to face include the opportunities for housing, education and employment, the right to vote, and discrimination in several public places. This also gave the Supreme Court a new aspect since discrimination and segregation were legal. The Decline of Jazz has fueled a debate as to whether or not the genre is dead. Many music scholars and fans argue that jazz s popularity is declining because the people who appreciate the music are aging and newer generations do not share their love of the music. For as long as I can remember, my parents have played jazz music in our home, while cooking meals together, or entertaining guests, or reading on a Sunday morning. My familiarity with the music from a young age is what caused me to start singing songs from artists like Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone. Jazz served as the foundation for my love and appreciation of music, both old and new, which is why I believe there is a place for jazz in the future. Over the past century, jazz music has evolved immensely so much so that some people mistake the genre s evolution for complete disappearance. But jazz is not dead. Instead, it has been woven together with other genres, such as rock and pop, and embraced new sounds and techniques that make it difficult for people to recognize as jazz. The musicians who have expressed a deep love and passion for the music are the ones who have kept jazz alive. In the third chapter we find young Wole describing a sort of parade which is passing before the walls of his home compound. The game is set in Europe during World War I with most teams beginning with similar resources. Each player team competes as an either Austria Hungary, Turkey, Italy, England, France, Russia, or Germany. With at least three home center game pieces on the board, there are strategic movements in order to control one of the eighteen supply centers. This involves phases of negotiation prior to movement of the game piece. There is no factor of luck. The main variable in the game is each team s ability to convince the others to do what they want. The core game strategy is negotiation. This board game at times mirrors actual history and educates the players as to the method by which a world war can happen. Both in the game and in actual life, everyone is envious of England because of its location and resources as well as having a developed army. Russia Germany and France are potential threats. Many of the alliances that occurred during World War I did not actually happen in our game of Diplomacy. There were several shocking twists and turns. • 34. Why Western Governors University Essay Why WGU? Choosing what college to attend can be a daunting process at any time. Selecting a school as an adult student can be even more difficult. Beyond the normal considerations of cost, program types, traditional school or online, and location, there are additional factors to consider as an adult student. These may include work schedule conflicts, family life, distance to travel, and credit earned for life experience. The nineteen governors who founded Western Governors University took these things into consideration when developing the school and its programs. ( About WGU: How We re Different, 2010) The student is also billed per semester, not per credit or course taken. This allows the student to complete as many credits as he or she can adequately handle, all for the same low price. This saves the student both time and money, both of which are precious in today s economy. ( Tuition and Financial Aid, 2010) Students today are also looking for a school that is convenient for them, both in location and in flexibility of scheduling. Western Governors University offers convenience in both areas. Since it is an online school, the location couldn t be any more appropriate. It is simply wherever the student has access to the internet and the time to study, whether that is at home, on a break at work, or even on vacation. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This excess fluid or congestion is where the term congestive heart failure comes from. Right sided failure is often a result of left sided failure. When the left side fails, increased fluid pressure develops in the lungs and damages the heart s right side. When pumping power is lost in the right side, blood backs up in the veins causing swelling in the legs and ankles. The heart tries to make up for loss of pumping capacity in three ways enlarging, developing more muscle mass, and pumping faster. By enlarging, the heart contracts more strongly and pumps more blood. When the contracting cells of the heart increase in size, an increase in muscle mass also occurs. Pumping faster helps to increase the heart s output. The body also does other things to help compensate for the loss in power in the heart. Blood vessels narrow to keep the blood pressure up. The body diverts the majority of the blood to the heart and the brain. Eventually the heart can t keep up and the person will suffer from fatigue, breathing problems or various other symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, loss of appetite, nausea, confusion, or increased heart rate. Factors such as smoking, being overweight, having a diet high in fat and cholesterol, and not exercising can contribute to heart failure. Charismatic leaders also plant the seeds of denialism in the minds of the general public, which fuels AIDS denialism and AIDS conspiracies. For example, influential leaders such as Louis Farrakhan, Jeremiah Wright, Will Smith, Spike Lee, and Bill Cosby have stated that HIV is being used as an agent to harm the black community. For example, Louis Farrakhanㄧleader of The Nation of Islam promoted the ineffective AIDS drug Kermon as a nostrum to the black community. Kermon was introduced in the 1990 s after a clinical trial study conducted by the Kenyan Medical Research Institution, and published results from the study concluded that the drug improved the health of AIDS patients and even resulted in some patients sero reverting to an HIV negative status (Nattrass 2012). In conclusion, HIV scientists being skeptical about the drug due to the inconsistencies within the clinical trial, Kermon was heavily promoted in the African American community. Farrakhan sold Kermon to AIDS patients through clinics operated by the Nation of Islam. During this time, The Nation of Islam s publication Final Call promoted conspiracy theories about the man made origin of AIDS, and claimed that FDA approved antiretrovirals were poisonous and a part of a white conspiracy to kill blacks (Epstein 1996).
