Database Management Systems ( Dbms )
Data is at the centre of most today s businesses and businesses must pay close attention to how they
access, store and use data. One of the systems at the heart of current data management is different
database management system.
But as with most technology product out there, people have a wide range of database technologies
and systems to choose from. Picking out the most convenient for your business can be difficult.
This guide will hope to explain what database management systems are and what are the benefits
for using one. We ll also explain some of the most common distinctions between these technologies
and provide you a few tips on how to select the best system for your business.
Introduction to database management systems
What are database management systems (DBMS)? First, it s good to understand the different
components of DBMS. At the core of DBMS is database, which is essentially an organised
collection of data. The data in database is modelled in reality in a manner, which helps supports
processes that seek information.
Creating a database is simple, but you also need to be able to use the database for different
functions. This is where database management systems come to the rescue.
A DBMS is a computer software application, which helps to interact with the user of the database,
different applications, as well the database itself in order to gather and analyse data. A DBMS
allows interaction with the data, whether it is to create, analyse, delete or change

Cat On A Hot Tin Roof Toni Morrison Analysis
Williams and Morrison: A Look at Female Solidarity Relationships between women are often
complex and ever changing. It is a universal truth that mothers and daughters, female family
members and female peers will have struggles, misunderstandings and complications. Female
solidarity is a major theme in many types of literature. Relationships between women are
complicated and often emotional. Toni Morrison s Recitatif and Tennessee Williams Cat on a Hot
Tin Roof are prime examples of literature that uses femalesolidarity as an important theme. Both
deal with the relationship between mothers and daughters as well as relationship between peer
women. The characters of these women are better understood when examining and analyzing these

She feels because she has children and Maggie does not, Gooper should inherit the plantation
over Brick. Instead of supporting Maggie during her struggles, Sister Woman makes derogatory
comments regarding Brick and their marriage. She spies on Brick and Maggie and reports what
she learns to Big Momma. Sister Woman uses her children as pawns to hurt Maggie, creating a big
rift between the women. Maggie does not help matters by terrorizing her nieces and nephews. She
makes derogatory remarks about the children s physical appearance and behavior in front of Sister
Woman, Big Momma and the children themselves. Their relationship is made up of contempt,
malice and competition and is the opposite of female solidarity.
The relationships between the main characters and their mothers play an important component in
these works. All three women, Maggie, Roberta and Twyla, do not receive any maternal
support. There are different reasons for the lack of support. Twyla s mother is mentally unfit to
fill her role as mother while Roberta s mother is physically unfit because of her illness. Maggie,
however, lacks maternal support simply because her mother in law disapproves of her. All three
women look to fill that void; Maggie by bonding with her father in law instead and Twyla and
Roberta by bonding with each

Theme Of The Irony In The Open Window
Encounter the Irony and the Unexpected in The Open Window Saki is the pen name of Hector
Hugh Munro (1870 1916), a British author. Born in Burma (now Myanmar) in 1870, Saki
worked as a journalist before gaining fame as a short story writer (Biography.com). His first
book is The Rise of the Russian Empire (1900), which cost him much labor but was a false start.
Even though, Saki gains fame from the other works and is considered as a successful author. His
works mostly offer a satirical commentary on Edwardian era (1901 1914) society and culture.
The Open Window is one of the short story of Beasts and Super Beasts (1914), which is Saki s
final short story collection and one of his best known works. What is more, The Open Window is
one of his most famous ghost stories. The Open Window delineates a story happened on an
October afternoon of the early 1900s in a restful countryside house with hunting grounds, which is
no other than the Sappleton s house. There are three main characters in the story: the first is Vera,
a storyteller and a self possessed young lady whose speciality is romance at short notice; the second
is a newcomer to the countryside, Framton Nuttel, who has nervous condition and hopes to cure...

four kinds. Firstly, dramatic irony. My aunt will be down presently, Mr. Nuttel, said a very self

short story is story within a story format. As a spectator, Vera knows more than Mr. Nuttel. The
readers are easily paying attention to Vera s use of put up with , but both Mr. Nuttel and the readers
do not know what to put up with at the beginning. Nevertheless, put up with gives the readers a hint
that something might happen, while Mr. Nuttel might not

The Syrian Refugee And Migration Crisis
The pioneering seminars for this course identified and introduced the groupings of the multiplicity
of theories, which exist in the world of International Relations today. The study of International
Relations like any other academic field of study makes use of theories and frameworks through
which the field is conceptualized; therefore, one must be careful when grouping these theories even
further, by paying attention to the individual similarities and differences which are found within
these theories and how they complement or contrast each other. According to International
Relations by Joshua Goldstein, Jon Pevehouse and Sandra Whitworth (hereof known as Goldstein
et al.), one way to look at the variety of theories is to distinguish... Show more content on

Ultimately, it will conclude that the most suitable method for viewing International Relations, and
the method which I find most persuasive is the liberal pluralist perspective, as it best supports the
mandate for world peace.
Individuals who identify with realist paradigm, according to Goldstein et al., find their most fertile
ground in the subfield of international security, with its logic of military power (Goldstein et al., 5)
this means that they place a specific focus on the powers of military in anticipation of any
possible outbreak of war. This perspective mirrors the opening arguments of the Huffington Post
article as it labels its sub topic with a quote from Prime Minister Stephen Harper, No Solution to
Syrian Crisis Without Military Support (Huffington Post). From this perspective, the Conservative
leader can be characterized as a realist as he acknowledges the state actor, in this case, Canada to be
the most important actor, and while assuming the position of a decision maker who helps to decide
what Canada must do on a global stage in relation to the middle east, which in this in case he
proffers a deployment of troops into Syria.
Realists believe that the most important actors in world politics are states and state decision makers

Teenage Brain Vs Teen Brain
The brain of the average teen is quite different to that of an adult, which results in many struggles
in action and behavior that is special to teens. Most of the reasons teens act the way they do versus
how adults act can be determined by the brain and its development. These large and important
differences between the brains of adults in teens is why teens act so different from adults. The teen
brainis different from the adult brain because the teenage brain is not yet done maturing. This has
been proved in the article ( Teen Brain... ) where it says that the brain is still growing and maturing
in these year and the amygdala is what develops sooner than the prefrontal cortex( Teen Brain.., ).
So what this means is that teens actions are guided more by the emotional, amygdala and less by
the thoughtful, and logical prefrontal cortex ( Teen Brain... ).This shows the difference between
adult brain and teen brains because one typically thinks of most adults as logical and rational
people and often people think of teens as kind of crazy or off the rails and irrational. While some
of that is simple, the teens personality, a large part is simply biology. Our bodies are meant to
survive so it make sense that we develop the reaction and fear first but unfortunately now, in modern
times, we do not need those developments first since humans are not trying to survive in a harsh,
survival of the fittest centered, environment any longer, which results in the typical teen with an

Interpreting Medical Terminology
American Psychological Association (APA) states word choice: Make certain that every word
means exactly what you intend it mean (2010). Clarity requires written documents to have
organization that allows readers to place the information in context (Grand Canyon University
(GCU), 2013). When writing, the writer must use the correct word choice for what they are
meaning to say. The reader must be able to interpret the meaning. An example of not being able to
interpret the meaning would be using the medical terminology such as cholecystectomy when
speaking with a patient. The patient has no clue what you are talking about; but if you say
gallbladder out, they would be able to interpret the meaning. Precision is essential in scientific
writing;

Allegory In The Handmaids Tale
The post Gileadean society depicted decades after Offred s story is the final allegory, presenting,
in its totality, the cyclicality of human nature. Just as the rise of Gilead showed the downfall of
liberalism and feminism, the fall of Gilead showed the exact opposite, a return to a world very
similar to the one before Gilead ever existed. In the novel, a symposium on the history of Gilead
describes how Gilead is a fascinating and worthwhile talk (299), using many similar descriptors
as are used to speak of the other classically conservative religious society, Puritanical
Massachusetts. Atwood presents how, just as the rise of Gilead signalled an end to the progression
of economic and social liberalism, the fall of Gilead showed the end... Show more content on

In the novel Moira is described as extremely free spirited and empowered to do as she wishes
before Gilead. During Gilead, her mindset stays the same, as using her extremely powerful
confidence, as her stiff backed posture was apparently enough to convince the Angels on
guard... Moira marched straight out the front door (132). Even under the crushing oppression of
Gilead, people like Moira and Offred keep up their resentment towards being told what to do,
even if the format changes. It is described how in Gilead, Offred decides against being a victim: I
intend to last , she declares. To last, she must pay attention. Especially early on in the novel, she
is alert to every detail around her (Neuman 4). On the more negative spectrum of unchanging
human qualities, Atwood presents the eternal establishment of social classes, even with the
purported ideas that everyone be equal in oppression. In Gilead racial and social divides abound,
as it is reported how The Econowives do not like [Handmaids] (Atwood 44). This, and the fact that
the symposium describes the racism that occurred in Gilead, shows how, no matter what the
society is, people will always carve out a space for them on the social ladder, only to look down on
those below them and envy those above them. The fact that humans, under either an extremely

prior emphasis on user engagement has build its user community with over 200,000 monthly
users, which provides a large consumer base to attract food businesses to collaborate with
Burpple. As such, Burpple gained its revenue by setting up a local business owners network,
which signed up more than 200 local food business owners to assist in developing their businesses.
One way in which Burpple has done so is through customization of the application to publicize the
restaurants menu choices and promotions to the existing user community, which allows companies
to gain ownership of a marketing tool at more affordable cost with higher chance of outreaching to
the consumers. Summary From a simple daily life problem of requiring good food
recommendations, Burpple, a successful startup has been developed. Precise steps taken in its
development and commercialisation and the good management of user and customer based
developments has aided in its rapid growth. In a market expected to thrive well on further advanced
smartphone technology, Burpple can be seen to do well if it continues to adapt well to the users

Comparison Of Heart Of Darkness And Apocalypse Now
Heart of Darkness, written by Joseph Conrad in 1899 inspired director, Francis Ford Coppola to
create the film Apocalypse Now, which was released in 1979. The two parallel each other, yet
they each reflect the time periods and prejudices of their creators. Through Conrad s work, the
horrors of the Europeans journey into the Congo is exposed. Alternatively, Coppola s work
exposes the horrors of Vietnam. The film begins and ends with the eerily accurate song, The End,
by The Doors, who were an important voice in Coppola s era. The lyrist was very interested in
cinema and had stated that Film confers a kind of spurious eternity (Jim Morrison). Francis Ford

In Apocalypse Now, the role of this character is portrayed by Colonel Bill Kilgore. Marlow
remarks on the magnificent quality of the Manager s health, stating, His position had come to him
why? Perhaps because he was never ill (Conrad 89). The manager s inability to get sick strips him
of a quality which makes men human. Within the concept of illness, there is the very human
sensation of pain. Colonel Bill Kilgore escapes all pain. Willard states, He knew he wasn t gonna
get so much as a scratch here (Coppola). Emptiness replaces their humanistic feelings of illness or
pain. Without these sensations, they desensitized, so that they are left as merely physical shells. As
a result of these two characters avoiding any physical pain, it is implied that the jungle has the
ability to rob men of the qualities which makes them human. Since they are unable to feel pain and
suffering themselves, they are therefore, unable to sympathize with others pain and suffering. As a
result, their savage tendencies are capable of consuming them because the jungle stripped them of
humanistic qualities of pain and suffering, while also removing their sense of

The Game Of Soccer Essay
Description Soccer is a sport played with two teams of eleven players on a rectangular grass
field with a ball and typically lasts 90 minutes. The players wear shorts, a short sleeved jersey,
shin guards, long socks, and cleats. Of the eleven players, one is a goalkeeper and the remaining
players are either playing defense, midfield, or forward. The goalkeeper s objective is to stop the
ball from going into his or her team s goal. The other players, using only their feet, must dribble
and pass the ball in order to move it up the field and attempt to place the ball in the opposing
team s goal. In the middle of both short ends of the field, there is a goal, one belonging to each
team.(Swanson) The objective of each team is to place the ball in the goal of the opposing team
to get a point. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. History There is
evidence tracing soccer back to 2000 BC. At this time, the game was played by the Romans,
Greeks, and Chinese. A leather ball was being dribbled and kicked in a small net or passed
between two people. (History) The game of soccer arrived in England during the medieval times.
During this time, the objective of the game was to move the ball to a specific spot. Violent
strategies such as punching, kicking, and biting were used to slow down the opposing team.
Violent incidents during a soccer match were common. King Edward III of England and King
James I of Scotland banned soccer in 1365 and 1424 respectively due

Why Democratic States Do Not Fight Each Other
Why democratic states do not fight each other
The German philosopher Immanuel Kant outlined an original relevant idea in his essay
Perpetual Peace (1795). Kant s theory is based on a world with countries sharing a common a
constitutional republic as political regime, where people would appeal for a continuous or
perpetual peace as an ideal for living. The principle of Kant s idea is that people will not decide to
go on war unless to defend themselves and because of this there would be no aggressor nations and
the war occurrences would end. For Kant, the reluctance of the people to support war and its related
costs restrains democratic leaders from engaging conflicts with other nations.
The democratic peace theory is perhaps the most influential liberal contribution to the debate on the
cause of peace and war in the study of international relations. This theory refers to the impression
that states that are democracy by nature do not go to war with one another, a fact which historically

In other words, economic interdependence helps create transnational ties that promote peace rather
than conflict. The economic interdependence significantly reduces the possibility of confrontation
between states. It is more likely for countries who share the same values, to have close economic
ties with each other.
Transnational and international institutions encourages the existence of peace between democratic
states, they are peaceful toward each other because they are bound by common ties in a system of
institutions crossing national boundaries. Democratic states usually share many common
institutions, which tend to shape their behaviour with one another.one of the best example of such,
are the establishment of the United Nations, which was built to create an atmosphere that would be

1993 World Trade Center Bombing Analysis
1993 World Trade Center Bombing
On February 26, 1993, Middle Eastern inspired terrorism truly hit the United States homeland. A
small group of seven terrorists rented a van, parked it in the underground parking garage of the
World Trade Center, departed and then detonated it. The explosion resulted in six killed, more than
one thousand injured, and a nearly 100 foot crater that was several stories deep. (FBI, 2008).
The ensuing investigation involved the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and New York Joint
Terrorism Task Force and many FBI agents worldwide. The investigation revealed many clues. The
first was the vehicle identification number for the rented van, which led to the arrest of Mohammad
Salameh. More clues eventually led to the arrest of five other members of the group.
After the attack, the Port Authority spent vast sums of money to repair the building as well as
improving the operational and safety capabilities of the facility. Security was strengthened and all
visitors were required to be screened and receive visitor badges. A radio repeater was also installed
to improve communications within the entire complex. (Aftermath, 2014).

The History of Mr. John Deere
The History of Mr. John Deere I will never put my name on a product that does not have the best
that is in me. This is arguably the most famous quote made by Deere and that has stuck with the
company for the last 175 years. Deere was the man who kick started modern farming by
inventing the first ever cast steel plow, as opposed to the much heavier cast iron plow that
worked alright in the sandy soil but the fertile heavy soil of the plains would just stick too. This
is how john Deere s steel plow became known as The Plow That Broke the Plains. Mr. John
Deere was born in Rutland Vermont in 1804, and grew up in nearby Middlebury. Deere was just
four years old when his father, William, was lost at sea and never returned leaving his mother,
Sarah Deere, to raise him. Deere was not an only child, living with five brothers and sisters in a
moderately poor family so there was no leftover money for education. John very rarely attended
school and focused his time on work to make money to support his family. He worked for a few
different people, such as farmers and shop keepers but did not stay with a job for more than a few
months at a time. until age 17 when he got an offer for an apprenticeship working for a blacksmith
in a town about 50 miles from home, with his mothers permission he left home to go to work
learning the trade of blacksmithing. Deere was naturally gifted at working with metal or doing
anything with his hands. Eventually Deere set up

King Leopold s Ghost
In the 1880s, as the European powers were carving up Africa, King Leopold II of Belgium seized
for himself the vast and mostly unexplored territory surrounding the Congo River. Carrying out a
genocidal plundering of the Congo, he looted its rubber, brutalized its people, and ultimately
slashed its population by ten million all the while shrewdly cultivating his reputation as a great
humanitarian. Heroic efforts to expose these crimes eventually led to the first great human rights

Negative Effects Of Radiation
The word radiation means several things such as radio waves and light. When such types of
radiation travel through substances, it can become charged electrically. When it is also in a tissue
that is living, the ions that were produced by the radiation can affect biological processes (IAEA
(International Atomic Energy Agency), n.d.). There are several ways people are exposed to
radiation, including x rays, radiation used to diagnose diseases and for cancer therapy, nuclear
explosive testing that goes wrong, small quantities of radioactive materials released into the
environment from coal and nuclear power plants, etc. (IAEA (International Atomic Energy
Agency), n.d.). The radiation that is emitted from cell phones, X raymachines, and nuclear power
plants are very different. They are all energy, but the difference is that unlike the others, cell phones
are not radioactive, and harms the body, unlike the others (Ornes, 2011).
The phones operate by altering your voice into a radio wave, which it dispatches with an antenna
that it also uses to receive the radio waves from the other line, which it changes to a voice that
the user can comprehend. Since the radio waves are also a type of radiation, if the user s phone
is close to the user s head, the tissues can absorb the radiation, which hasn t yet been confirmed,
but could later on be the cause of a brain tumor or disease, since the use of cell phones didn t start
until about 15 years ago (Ornes, 2009). Studies show that spending 50 minutes or more with an
active phone near your ear increases harmful brain activity because when cell phones are
actively working, the radiation they emit could hurt you, after years of using a cell phone.
Although there is a lot of evidence that suggests that cell phones are harmful, scientists, are still
not completely sure (Ornes, 2011). SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) is the rate measurement of
how much radiation your body s tissues can absorb when you are using a cellphone. The SAR for a
cellphone is set for a limit of 1.6 watts of energy absorbed per kilogram of body weight (Highest
and Lowest Radiation Cell Phones, 2017).

The Early Childhood Curriculum Te Wh Ж’Г„ Riki Essay
In Aotearoa, the early childhood curriculum Te WhДЃriki has an immense focus on children s
holistic development which is fostered and guided by interconnecting principles and strands that
construct the curriculum. Within the strands, there are goals that teacher s educators must follow
to provide high quality teaching to sustain and fulfil the curriculum.
Te WhДЃriki describes curriculum as the sum total of the experiences, activities, and events,
whether direct or indirect, which occur within an environment designed to foster children s learning
and development (Ministry of Education, 1996, p.10). These experiences, activities and events vary
from centre to centre; though still provide opportunities for healthy holistic development. The arts
and literacies foster children s development of verbal and non verbal communication and language
and provide an exploration of theories of mean making. Through the concept of multi literacies,
multi modal ways of thinking are acknowledged the various ways children learn to process their
thoughts, emotions and actions. Throughout Te WhДЃriki, the arts and multi literacies are woven
through opportunities of dramatic play, drama, dance, music, representational resources and through
ways children represent and reflect their cultural backgrounds such as MДЃori children engaging
and participating in the haka, poi and waiata (Wright, 2003).
The Ministry of Education explains that having narrative assessments available for children to

theater classes. I did not realize that this class would through my career plan out the door. I started
out with acting classes because I thought that they would help me with public speaking. I then
started to take technical theater classes. These classes have helped my creativity grow. Both the
acting and technical theater classes have helped me obtain skills that will help me with my future
career, whatever it may be.

Sure, there would be actors, but they would just be sitting there naked in the dark reciting lines

Mr. Moll was not an everyday teacher. Many would say that he teaching ways were
unconventional, but I enjoyed it. Dramatic arts shine with a compassion that makes us see
beyond the suffering (New York Times). During the trimester he announced that he was putting
on a show and he needed technicians and actors. I tried out for both. The show was called I Hate
Shakespeare; it was a mashup of multiple Shakespeare plays. I was given a small acting part and a
technical job. I had to learn various skills in order to assist with building the sets, costuming,
painting, and makeup for the actors. As a technician for a play, the cast of the show is counting on
me to know what I am doing, and the director holds me to a high standard. Especially because I am
acting as well. This meant that I needed to learn time management skills and how to improvise
when something goes wrong. In addition, I learned how to work as a team with my classmates.

The meaning of spiritualism by the Fox sisters The Fox Sisters were known to be famous for
being the creators of spiritualism. Also, the sisters were idealized by many based on creating a

Starbucks Strategic Management Process
Introduction
In this report an explanation about the strategic management process will be given, utilizing the
model illustrated below. Firstly, the different elements will be explained followed by a clarification
of the different relationships, in terms of impact, between them. First of all, an explanation about
strategic management is given. According to Fred R. David, strategic management can be defined as
the art and science of formulating, implementing, and evaluating cross functional decisions that
enable an organization to achieve its objectives. Additionally, four stages could be defined in the
strategic management process: environmental scanning, strategy formulation, strategy
implementation, and strategy evaluation. Lastly, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, the wider socioeconomic or macro environment considers aspects such as
government, legal aspects, technological factors and other factors that could affect the company
and industry. As a result of assessing the external environment, the opportunities and threats of a
company can be defined. Opportunities allow a company to take advantage of their strengths,
minimize weaknesses, and neutralize environmental threats. Finally, the threats may hinder a
company to gain competitive advantage or satisfy their stakeholders. Thus, there should be
elaborated on strengths in order to minimize the company s threats.
Strategic analysis and choice
Strategic analysis and choices involve understanding the underlying bases for future strategy at both
the business unit and corporate levels and the options for developing strategy in terms of both the
directions in which the strategy might move and the methods of development. (Johnson, Scholes,
amp; Whittington, 2006).
Once a company s strategy has been elaborated on, it is necessary to analyze it and to choose the
strategy that suits best for the company s intention. First of all, it is decisive to indicate the business
competitive advantage in order to understand in which way the company can compete within its
competitive set. Additionally, decisions concerning the corporate level strategy such as the
company s profile, products,

Evil and Omnipotence
Why does an omnipotent and omnibenevolent God allow natural and moral evil to happen
without any restrictions? John Hick, a proponent of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz s theodicy
defense, answered: in order that human beings, as free responsible agents, may use this world as
a place of soul making, which involves the spiritual perfection of our character and persons
(Pojman 74). According to Hick, creation has not been finished its work, it is still undergoing a
process, that is, the lives of individual human beings. Hick believed that Godis omnibenevolent
because he is allowing us to learn how to be perfect on our own.
By perfect we mean, In the image, but not the likeness, of God (Pojman 74). Hick believed that
we are imperfect beings living in an imperfect world so that we cannot try to become like God. In
other words, God is giving us this gift. The problem with gift arises when we assume that human
beings are always right, or infallible. In John Hick s Philosophy of Religion, he stated, No one could
ever injure anyone else (Pojman 74). Hick held the strong view that if humans had the quality of
perfection, then this world would not be the best of all possible worlds for all our moral concepts
and emotional attachments would be non existent (Pojman 74).
In other words, soul making is what makes life what it is. Without the need of morality, and ethical
attachments would we still be human or just a bunch of operating robots who always do the correct

Virtual Machine Intrusions
The technique can detect DDoS attacks as well and blocking complete botnets (Amna Riaz
2017). However, NIDS is going to face issues processing all packets in large virtual network and it
may fail to detect attacks in time as SNORT is single threaded.
Another solution that has been studied is Virtual Machine Introspection (VMI) based technique
(Amna Riaz 2017). Virtual machine introspection (VMI) is the main idea behind out of box
intrusion detection. VMI is a technique of inspecting VM state by moving the inspection module
outside of the VM. The software running inside the guest system is analysed externally to detect
any intrusion. One advantage of this technique is that malware detection continues to work
unaffectedly even in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, on the brighter side a NIDS has high attack resistance ().
Being SNORT as a single threaded, processing huge logs for the cloud computing is an issue so
multi thread IDS is essential in the cloud computing (Parag K. Shelke 2012, p. 68). SURICATA is
multi threaded and could resolve the performance issues and packet loss we face with the single
thread IDS.
Virtualization has made network management more challenging, and it s more and more difficult to
consistently apply firewall and content filtering policies. When you add in complexities such as
securing BYOD devices, the security problem is intensified. Software defined networking (SDN)
is next evolving technology for the cloud computing. SDN is an umbrella term covering several
kinds of network technology aimed at making the network as agile and flexible as the virtualized
server and storage infrastructure of the modern data center. The SDN Controller provides a
centralized system to manage the network. The network administrators are empowered by SDN to
easily access and manage individual flows by facilitating them to implement monitoring
applications, i.e., firewall and IDS. Furthermore, scalable monitoring and dynamic reconfiguration
requirements of the network in cloud makes SDN a perfect choice (Amna Riaz 2017).
Using OSSEC and BRO as IDS tools can also help to resolve analysing and integrating the log files

They are trying to blame the fast food industry for their obesity claiming that fast food is a major
contributor to the problem. Tying obesity directly to fast food is a much harder task than tobacco to
cancer, because there has not been any scientific research showing that fast food is the main cause
or that it is addictive. Obesity is thought to be the number one killer in America (Parks), but there
are many factors that contribute to the epidemic such as genetics, exercise routine, environment,
illness, prescriptions, diet, and emotional health.
Obesity leads to a number of diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure,
stroke, and certain types of cancer ( NIDDK ). Obesity in it self is a hard health problem for a
person to deal with, but some of these other diseases usually come along in association making
the problem even worse. Certain disease are related more to women than to men. Obese men are
more likely than non obese men to die from cancer of the colon, rectum, or prostate (NIDDK ).
Scientific research is making the cure for cancer easier, but there are still many cancer patients
that doctors are unable to treat. Obese women are more likely than non obese women to die from
cancer of the gallbladder, breast, uterus, cervix, and ovaries (NIDDK ). Cancer is not the only

Difference Between Object Oriented And Object-Driven...
Unit 6 Assignment by Ali Shafiq
(P1 P2)
In programming, there are three different types of paradigms that we use in programming. And they
are procedural, object oriented and event driven programming paradigms.
Procedural Language
Procedural programming is a programming paradigm which is derived from structured
programming and it is based upon the concept of the procedure call such as where you can keep
a record of procedure call programs. It s also a list or set of instructions telling a computer what
to do step by step. Also tell the computer how to perform from the first code to the second code.
The program can be broken into procedures or subroutines or functions such as Anglo, C and Pascal.
Procedural programming uses a list of instruction to tell the computer what to do step by step. It
relies on procedures, routines and sub routine. The procedural contents of capitation of steps to be

Object oriented programming is a programming language model organized around objects. And it
represents the concept of object that has data fields. The Object oriented programming is a type of
language that is oriented around objects. They do not base their action on the logic that manipulate
the object, but on object.
By using object oriented, you can solve problems. The object oriented language is a type of
programming that is kept in a single unit called object. Meaning that the only way user can access
the data is by using the objects methods. This can insure that the user will be incapable of
corrupting the object and also internal working can be changed without corrupting the code using
the object.
Some of the limitations for this programming language are that you have to do most of the task
manually. Object oriented programming is also limited with low amount of functions as comparing
to low programming that interacts directly with hardware.

White Lies In African American Literature
One similarity in all of the African American literature read this semester is this one fact. White
people lie. Granted, everyone lies. In these particular literacy works, however, the main characters
white counterparts seemed to have done the most fibbing to put it lightly. From this habit of lying,
most forms of African Americanliterature have been effected, from early literary documents
written by African Americans that have been altered by white editors to lies told by white
people in the actual story written by African Americans. This paper will take a look at examples
of incidents in which these lies occurred, and also discuss these lies told by whites and how they
effected African Americans individually as well as a whole. This first example of the type of
lies told by white people effected the earlier African American literary authors. They fell victim
to these white lies in terms of their freedom of what they could and could not write. One example
is that of Briton Hammon in his literary tale entitled A Narrative of Uncommon Sufferings. In his
piece, he recalls different event he had experienced. One of these events was an encounter with a
group of Indians. He noted them as savages which is very similar to how white people of this time
period addresses the matter of Indians. This simple metaphor led some to believe this literary work
of Briton Hammon was, indeed, heavily edited by a white editor. As a whole, different events

Rapid Decline Of Crime In The 1990s
Components of the Rapid Decline in Crime of the 1990s The 1960s were more than just Civil
Rights and Woodstock. Contrary to what the people believed, the 1960s was an important decade
in regards to ending the peaceful period of crime decline that the United States had been enjoying
since 1930 (Levitt, Dubner 115 146). The United States was about to see the highest crimerates in
its history by the end of the 1980s, heading for the 1990s. Upon entering the 1990s though, what
was being recorded were record levels of crime, but in the opposite direction as predicted (Levitt,

Comparing Fire And Water In Fahrenheit 451 By Ray Bradbury
Throughout the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, fire and water is a recurring motif. This
motif is not only found in Bradbury s novel but also in Matt Daffern s poem, Fire and Water. Both
works present a myriad of interpretations as to the nature and interaction between fire and water.
Fire can mean anger, destruction, strength, or rebirth. Water can symbolize complacency, peace,
rationality, or cleansing. These separate and opposite forces have contrasting qualities. However,
there is a clear correlation between the noveland the poem as they illustrate that fire and water are
closer than what one may normally think and they also emphasize the balance of both.

In his poem, Daffern writes, We need to keep balance in our lives / fire and water duality
/ kindness in our hearts / passion in our work (Daffern 16 9). As Daffern wrote, it is necessary to
maintain a balance of these forces because fire and water compensate for what their counterpart
lacks. Likewise, Montag finds this balance while working with his mentor, Faber, asserting He
would be Montag plus Faber, fire plus water, and then, one day... there would be neither fire nor
water, but wine (Bradbury 99). Fire and water as a pair create something new. Faber deters
Montag s impulsiveness and Montag makes up for Faber s cowardice. This relationship is
essential for Montag as it helps him find the knowledge, confidence, and resolve to tread a new
path in life. Despite fire and water being conflicting forces, they can also complement each other
to create a better result. In the end, Daffern and Bradbury draw upon this idea by juxtaposing the
serenity of water and the vigor of fire, which Montag personally experiences and which Daffern
relates to the implacable nature of

not one s job to follow in the footsteps of others. Thoreau wants each person to find what they are

Research Study On Conducting Communication Research
When conducting communication research, it is extremely important to take ethics into
consideration. Will this research be confidential, will you use deception, and will the research you
are doing harm any of the participants, are all extremely important factors to consider. These factors
will be identified and considered while using the following hypothesis: As children increase their
technology usage, interpersonal communicationskills decrease.
Confidentiality Anonymity The first ethical consideration that must be established is whether or
not the study will offer confidentiality to the participating parties. In the instance of this
communication research study, when it comes to trying to prove or disprove the hypothesis, there
will be no reason to not offer complete confidentiality and anonymity. In this study, we are
analyzing children and the guarantee of confidentiality and anonymity would offer comfort so the
participants can act naturally without fear of judgment (Jamison, n.d.). If I were a participant in
this research study, I would prefer that all of the data collected remain confidential. I personally do
not feel that the research study would need to be anonymous. This is because I am an adult and am
comfortable in my responses as they pertain to the hypothesis. The hypothesis is not asking any
overly person information be disclosed. However, since the hypothesis involves children that could

The Presidential Election Of The United States
The 1980 presidential election of the United States featured three primary candidates, Republican
Ronald Reagan, Democrat Jimmy Carter and liberal Republican John Anderson. Ronald Reagan
was the governor of California before he decided to run for the presidency. John Anderson was a
representative in Illinois and Carter was the incumbent. The lengthy Iran hostage crisissharpened
public opinions by the beginning of the election season. In the 1970s, the United States were
experiencing a straining episode of low economic growth, high price increases and interest rates
and an irregular energy crisis. The sense of discomfort in both domestic and foreign affairs in the
nation were heading downward, this added to the downward spiral that was already going on.
Between Carter, Anderson and Reagan, the general election campaign of the 1980s seemed more
concerned with shadowboxing around political issues rather than a serious discussion of the issues
that concerned voters.
A key turning point in American politics was the election of 1980. It indicated the new electoral
power of the suburbs. The success that Reagan had as a conservative would initiate a group of
parties because liberals and conservatives would either leave politics or change party affiliations
through 1980 s and 1990 s. The research shows this caused the 1980 election to be recalled as one

The Invention Of The Electron Microscope By Ernst Ruska...
In the scientific community, there have been many advancements in the technologies and processes
used to help us understand the truth of the world around us. The invention of the electron
microscope by Ernst Ruska and Max Knoll in 1933 is just an example of one of these
advancements. There is another advancement that has roots over one hundred and sixty million
years old, and that is the green fluorescent protein(GFP). The fluorescence from GFP molecules has
made it feasible to look through a microscope at a spatial resolution higher than the diffraction limit.
The green fluorescent proteinwas first found in the Aequorea Victoria, or the crystal jellyfish. It is
a bioluminescent hydrozoan jellyfish, or hydromedusa (1). In the crystal jellyfish, there are two
proteins that are responsible for its bioluminescent, aequorin and GFP. They are both located in
the photo organs of the jellyfish. The jellyfish releases calcium ions which the aequorin binds to.
The process of binding gives off a blue light, which is then absorbed by the GFP. The blue light
absorbed is then converted into the green light that GFP is named for (2). At the moment there is
no apparent reason for the bioluminescence displayed by the Aequorea Victoria since it has not
been observed being used as a defense mechanism or as a signalling mechanism. Osamu
Shimomura was the first person to isolate the GFP. He started to study the bioluminescence of
crystal jellyfish at Princeton University in 1960 and he and

Winston Hao. He is the creator and founder of this company but as we all know developing a
company isn t as easy as it may seem when you invest time, money and energy for company that
begins to face turmoil. The difficulties that Mr. Hao face is trying to re improve and modify
original cloud storage product that stored large quantities of digital data, The big issue was that
even though they were ready to send out there newly modified product was who would be their
target. This was just the beginning of many problem in this journey. This company tackled there...

Now for Public Cloud it did have an advantage over Public Cloud as the data didn t need to be
store with another party. Nonetheless, users still need to buy a physical storage device, which
had to be in the premises of their home office. The next issue for Mr. Hao was dealing with
integrated back up system that were offered by IT providers such as IBM and Tivoli. This
company had offered many areas of individualization with high performances levels, however
they were in high price range and were difficult for smaller companies to pay for that couldn t
afford to. Ultimately, the next step was business data storage in China. Bringing this concept to
China was hard because companies that were backing data were North American who were using
out dated data. It was a frequent thing that people were involved with service industries to sell
client info a practice that makes it hard for company trust service provider with strong sensitive
company info. DataVast provided Cloud computing storage products to China. This was new to the
Chinese market, and Hao hoped that since working with the largest telecommunication company it
provide with some recognition. This however caused Chinese businesses to be resistant to adopt
cloud products by 2011 five years into operation DataVast was still suffering a terrible

Being A Reasonable Thinker
Being a reasonable thinker is a strategy that has benefit me. Working at a church could look like
working at a place that everybody has everything worked out. That is not even close in my
experience. People often thing that because we follow a faith that we will overlook things and
let things go. I had a time when I was working with young people in a competition to get
scholarships within the church. The competition is very hard and very physical. Being
reasonable help me keep my cool when my superiors would walk into my practices and ask me to
do things that were not safe or physically impossible for the kids that I had. I knew that I could ask
these kids to do that. I was not going to compromise their health because they wanted to win a
competition.

The Importance Of School Sports In High School
In high school, there are many opportunities to become involved in activities throughout the school
year. Whether it s a club such as Chess Club or a sport in which athletes can compete, students have
numerous opportunities to get involved. These opportunities help prepare students for life by
teaching them important lessons. Although clubs can teach students some major life skills, they do
not teach the students as much as a student actively involved in high schoolsports. High school
athletics teach students valuable life lessons, they teach students how to manage what is important
in their life, and they teach students to remain physically active throughout life. High school sports
are an important key to teens becoming successful in life and should not be taken for granted.
To start off, high school athletics teach students valuable life lessons. In sports, to become not
only an excellent athlete, but a great team as well, athletes need to work hard. Whether it is by
practicing or training to become better in the weight room, athletes know it takes hard work to
acquire their goals. For anything to become its best, it takes hard work and dedication. This is
also true in life. Whether it is for work or just tending to a garden, it takes hard work to get where
you want to go or be where you want to be. This is a very important life lesson that can and should
be used throughout a person s life. Another important lesson learned through high school athletics is
to never give

Stellar Numbers
The aim of this task is to investigate geometric shapes, which lead to special numbers. The
simplest example of these are square numbers, such as 1, 4, 9, 16, which can be represented by
squares of side 1, 2, 3, and 4.
Triangular numbers are defined as the number of dots in an equilateral triangle uniformly filled with
dots . The sequence of triangular numbers are derived from all natural numbers and zero, if the
following number is always added to the previous as shown below, a triangular number will always
be the outcome:
1 = 1
2 + 1 = 3
3 + (2 + 1) = 6
4 + (1 + 2 + 3) = 10
5 + (1 + 2 + 3 + 4) = 15
Moreover, triangular numbers can be seen in other mathematical theories, such as Pascal s triangle,
as shown in the diagram ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The coefficients above are simply plugged into the calculator; this can be seen in the screenshots
below
Hence the general formula for the sequence is Sn = 6n2 6n + 1, to be certain that this is in fact
correct, it can also be worked out as shown below.
The second difference of the sequence is divided by 2, since this is the value of a, thereafter the
sequence is extended to T0, as the number highlighted in red is c. To figure out the value of b, the
values have been substituted into the quadratic formula as shown below, where after the equation
has been solved using simple algebra.
Sn = an2 + bn + c
Sn = 6n2 + bn + 1
S1 = (6)(1)2 + b(1) + 1
1 = 6 + b + 1 b = 6
в€
ґ Sn = 6n2 6n + 1
As seen above, this method works out the same general formula, and this is tested below to assess
the validity.
Sn = 6n2 6n + 1S3 = 6(3)2 6(3) + 1S3 = 6(9) 18 + 1S3 = 54 17S3 = 37| Sn = 6n2 6n + 1S5 = 6(5)2
6(5) + 1S5 = 6(25) 30 + 1S5 = 150 29S5 = 121|
The results derived from the general formula are the same as worked out earlier when not
applying any formula at all; hence, it is correct and can be applied to terms 3 and 5 and also other
values of n.
The previous example was then repeated using

Death In Kurt Vonnegut s A Tale Of Two Cities
Death can be seen all throughout life, and all deaths can be for different reasons, whether those
reasons be noble, villainous, or, in most cases, simply neither. Throughout both A Tale of Two
Cities, written by Charles Dickens, and Slaughterhouse Five, written by Kurt Vonnegut, death can
be seen as a common topic betwixt both novels at one point or another, albeit each topic of death
can be very different at times. Charles Dickensis a beloved author, responsible for many classic
works such as A Tale of Two Cities
. He was born February 7, 1812, in Portsmouth, England. He
was the second oldest child of eight total, living most of his early life in Chatham, Kent, and
Camden Town. When Dickens was 12 years old, his father, John Dickens, was... Show more content

In Slaughterhouse Five, death is taken in a light manner, and is seen by the main protagonist, Billy
Pilgrim, shows death throughout his experiences in the book as an impermanent and weightless
event, which is the complete opposite of how Dickens portrays death. Throughout Slaughterhouse
Five, Vonnegut places the words So it goes. after every death, or multiple deaths seen at roughly the
same time, eventually explaining this phrase as something the Tralfamadorians say after somebody
because everyone is alive forever, even if at different times, so therefore death is meaningless in the
eyes of those in Slaughterhouse Five. The message about death that Slaughterhouse Five attempts
to bring is far different than the message A Tale of Two Cities attempts to bring. While
Slaughterhouse Five tries to tell us that death is meaningless and holds no weight, A Tale of Two
Cities tries to tell us that death holds a lot of weight in the world, and that in some cases can be the
most meaningful thing in the world. Vonnegut throughout his book takes a tone that is aloof or
uncaring when it comes to death, a tone that tells us that he thinks death is meaningless, or
weightless, whereas we can see that Dickens takes a more serious tone when it comes to death,
showing that he has a deep respect for meaningful death, albeit when when he thinks that there is a
pointless death, his tone changes to one of frustration or chastising. Vonnegut, on the other hand,
keeps the same tone about death throughout the entire book, never changing his tone when an
important death happens, or when a meaningful death occurs, but always keeps the same tone that
says that he believes death holds no weight, in complete contrast to Dickens, who, no matter the
circumstance, whether the death is important or meaningless, always seems to keep some level of
respect for death in the way he talks about it.

Volcano Research Paper
Volcanoes can be found throughout the entire world and are formed when there is a rupture in the
mantle of the Earth s crust. This effect allows the output of volcanic lava, ash, and various types of
gases. These tectonic plate breaks are normal, the planet Earth is divided into 17 tectonic plates and
consistently move against each other forming shifts from low to high intensity. It can cause
displacement of earthor water.
The volcanoes are located where there is a divergence or convergence in the tectonic plates and
bring their lava from the deepest of the terrestrial mantle. The materials and explosions of these
ginates represent a constant risk in the places inhabited by the human being, nevertheless the people
ususually live in these areas no matter the risk. On the other hand the volcanos can change the
geology of an impressive form, or to cool the temperature of the earth, or to darken the sky. The
scientific community increases its efforts to try to understand better what happens in volcanoes,

Case Study Of Air India
Objective
The objective of this case study is to understand the problems plaguing the Indian aviation sector
behemoth Air India. To analyze its organizational restructuring upon merger with Indian Airlines;
the effect it had on the physical and human capital of the company, and, how the management dealt
with the conflicts which arose from the deal.
Methodology
Findings Observations
Company Overview
Air India, the 3rd largest airline in India in terms of passengers carried is owned by Air India
Limited, a government of India enterprise and operates a fleet of Airbus Boeing aircraft. It is the
first to provide commercial airline services that became a public listed company after World War
II. Founded by J.R.D. Tata as Tata Airlines, it then became Air India and spread its wings as Air

In July 1946, Tata Airlines was nationalized and was taken over by the Indian Government. It
was turned into a public enterprise and renamed as AIL. The origin of IAL dates back to 1953
when seven domestic airlines were merged to form Indian Airlines Corporation (IAC). IAL
enjoyed a monopoly as the domestic air carrier till the Indian economy was liberalized in 1991.
With the entry of private airlines, IAL s monopoly began to decline.
With both these flagship air carriers (AIL IAL) performing poorly, the idea of a merger between
the two began to gain ground. Praful Patel submitted the merger plan to the Union Cabinet in
March 2006 for approval. The Government of India ordered Accenture Inc. to formulate a road
map for the proposed merger. According to Accenture, net synergy benefits of Rs 8.2 billion
(against the integration cost of Rs 2 billion) was envisaged, potential recurring synergies were
expected to enhance profitability by Rs 6 billion at the end of the 3rd year of

Thevenin s Theorem Essay
The experiment that follows is carried out to determine the Thevenin s theorem experimentally.
Thevenin s theorem is an equivalence principle in circuit theory. This theorem is widely used for
circuit analysis simplification and to study circuit s initial condition and steady state response. In
the experiment, the load resistance was removed. The Vth and Rth were found and the resultant
current measured. After the experiment was carried out, it was verified that using the Thevenin s
theorem procedure, the current in a particular load in this case has the same current flowing
through it if it is solved using any other equivalence principle and maximum power will be
transferred through load when Rth is Equivalent to RL.
Introduction
The present lab report is designed to describe the Thevenin Equivalents and Max Power Transfer.
Moreover, the simplification and verification of the circuit network is necessary to identify to
Thevenin equivalent. In addition, the maximum level of power transfer was also identified.
Thevenin theorem is applied on the DC resistive circuits. The theorem holds that the linear
electronic network with the help of the voltage as well as the current sources is important and the
level of resistance can be replaced with the equivalent voltage source. To fulfill such objectives, the
lab experiment was designed [1].
In circuit analysis, Thevenin s theorem for linear electrical networks states that any combination of
voltage sources, current sources, and

The Cultural Value Of Pandas
Another remarkable value panda withheld is its extraordinary cultural value. The two colors the
panda has might be the two most extreme any species. It is black and white. Therefore the giant
panda is said to be a physical manifestation of Yin Yang due to its black and white spots.
According to the Encyclopedia Britiannica, Yin Yang is the two complementary forces that make
up all aspects and phenomena of life ( Yinyang ). Indeed panda set as the best example of
demonstration of how Yin and Yang work in nature. When Yin and Yang are perfectly balanced.
There will be one less thing to represent this unique idea if we do not save these endangered species
. Furthermore, pandas are used as symbols in various platforms. One of the world s largest
conservation organization, World Wide Fund , has used panda as their symbol. It is mentioned
on their website that the WWF founders would like a strong and recognizable symbol to
overcome all language barriers and thus panda is agreed to be the best choice for the logo of
WWF ( Giant ). The panda logo of WWF is iconic and has recognized as a universal symbol for
conservation movement. It moves people. Apart from appearing as the logo of WWF, it was also
selected as one of the five mascots for the 2008 Beijing Olympics (Charles). This shows that panda
has such a vital meaning to the Chinese public. Nevertheless, panda also stars on the big screen too.

and adjustment. In some cases survivors are not fully recovered mentally and physically. Even
though survivors sometimes lived normal social life, their sexual life are greatly impacted.
Survivors sometimes feel unattractive and undesirable. Even though stroke does not reduce the
libido, the resumption of sexual activities is a milestone in the rehabilitation process.
After surviving the stroke the survivor s lifestyle will drastically change to accommodate a
healthier well being. Their diet will have to include more fruits and vegetable, less salt and
saturated fat and avoiding excessive alcohol. Survivors will also need to establish an exercise
program to facilitate their new lifestyle. Exercise will improve heart condition, improve circulation

Commercials and Their Propaganda Techniques
Why do commercials use propaganda techniques? Is it to influence our emotions or is it because
they lack actual factual support for their claims? The answer is both. Propaganda techniques are
used by advertisers, salespeople, and politicians because they lack adequate factual support for
their points, so they appeal to our emotions by using propaganda techniques. In the particular
commercial for the Samsung Galaxy smart phones, Name Calling, Plain Folks, and Bandwagon
propaganda techniques are used. It is no secret that smart phone creators have to appeal to average
consumers and get them to jump on board to buy their product. So in a not so surprising way to
gather new customers, Samsung releases a commercial the same day another major... Show more

Coacervates Experiment
The purpose of this lab was to investigate how the concentration of ammonia affects the formation
of coacervates. It was hypothesized that as the ammonia concentration increase, so will the number
of coacervates until it reaches the optimal state, then would start to decrease. For this experiment 4
mL of gum arabic solution (carbohydrate) was mixed with a gelatin solution (protein) and was
placed under a microscope to observe the number of coacervates. According to Oparin,
combining organic macromolecules would create coacervates. The first run was the control so no
ammonia was added but after each run, 2 drops of ammonia was added to see its effect of
coacervates. On run 1, 49 coacervates was recorded. This data confirmed Oparin s theory... Show

Another error could be the small sample space. Only vial was tested so the data is not very
reliable. If more vials were tested, it could help disprove the mistake of this experiment or
confirm it by making it more legitimate with consistent results. The unequal amount of solution
on each microscope slide could also be an error. Even though only 1 drop of solution was dropped
onto the slide each run, the pipets are not precise and could lead to some drop being bigger than
other. The bigger drop would have more coacervates than the smaller drop. This could make the
data less reliable since a variable was added which makes it harder to understand the effect of
ammonia on the formation of coacervates. Understanding the impact of chemicals in the
atmosphere and the presence of water is very important in identifying life. Scientists are currently
observing other planets in the universe and determine their potential to sustain life by studying the
planet s atmospheric makeup. By comparing its atmosphere to Earth s atmosphere, scientists can

The PTA endorsed this code before it was issued to the students. However, upon seeing the new
rules many students have complained that it is too restrictive and conservative. The new dress code

It is a universal truth that mothers and daughters, female family members and female peers will have struggles, misunderstandings and complications. Instead of supporting Maggie during her struggles, Sister Woman makes derogatory comments regarding Brick and their marriage. She spies on Brick and Maggie and reports what she learns to Big Momma. Sister Woman uses her children as pawns to hurt Maggie, creating a big rift between the women. Maggie does not help matters by terrorizing her nieces and nephews. She makes derogatory remarks about the children s physical appearance and behavior in front of Sister Woman, Big Momma and the children themselves. Their relationship is made up of contempt, malice and competition and is the opposite of female solidarity. The relationships between the main characters and their mothers play an important component in these works. All three women, Maggie, Roberta and Twyla, do not receive any maternal support. There are different reasons for the lack of support. Twyla s mother is mentally unfit to fill her role as mother while Roberta s mother is physically unfit because of her illness. Maggie, however, lacks maternal support simply because her mother in law disapproves of her. All three women look to fill that void; Maggie by bonding with her father in law instead and Twyla and Roberta by bonding with each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Syrian Refugee And Migration Crisis The pioneering seminars for this course identified and introduced the groupings of the multiplicity of theories, which exist in the world of International Relations today. The study of International Relations like any other academic field of study makes use of theories and frameworks through which the field is conceptualized; therefore, one must be careful when grouping these theories even further, by paying attention to the individual similarities and differences which are found within these theories and how they complement or contrast each other. According to International Relations by Joshua Goldstein, Jon Pevehouse and Sandra Whitworth (hereof known as Goldstein et al.), one way to look at the variety of theories is to distinguish... Ultimately, it will conclude that the most suitable method for viewing International Relations, and the method which I find most persuasive is the liberal pluralist perspective, as it best supports the mandate for world peace. Individuals who identify with realist paradigm, according to Goldstein et al., find their most fertile ground in the subfield of international security, with its logic of military power (Goldstein et al., 5) this means that they place a specific focus on the powers of military in anticipation of any possible outbreak of war. This perspective mirrors the opening arguments of the Huffington Post article as it labels its sub topic with a quote from Prime Minister Stephen Harper, No Solution to Syrian Crisis Without Military Support (Huffington Post). From this perspective, the Conservative leader can be characterized as a realist as he acknowledges the state actor, in this case, Canada to be the most important actor, and while assuming the position of a decision maker who helps to decide what Canada must do on a global stage in relation to the middle east, which in this in case he proffers a deployment of troops into Syria. • 8. Teenage Brain Vs Teen Brain The brain of the average teen is quite different to that of an adult, which results in many struggles in action and behavior that is special to teens. Most of the reasons teens act the way they do versus how adults act can be determined by the brain and its development. These large and important differences between the brains of adults in teens is why teens act so different from adults. The teen brainis different from the adult brain because the teenage brain is not yet done maturing. This has been proved in the article ( Teen Brain... ) where it says that the brain is still growing and maturing in these year and the amygdala is what develops sooner than the prefrontal cortex( Teen Brain.., ). So what this means is that teens actions are guided more by the emotional, amygdala and less by the thoughtful, and logical prefrontal cortex ( Teen Brain... ).This shows the difference between adult brain and teen brains because one typically thinks of most adults as logical and rational people and often people think of teens as kind of crazy or off the rails and irrational. While some of that is simple, the teens personality, a large part is simply biology. Our bodies are meant to survive so it make sense that we develop the reaction and fear first but unfortunately now, in modern times, we do not need those developments first since humans are not trying to survive in a harsh, survival of the fittest centered, environment any longer, which results in the typical teen with an ... Clarity requires written documents to have organization that allows readers to place the information in context (Grand Canyon University (GCU), 2013). When writing, the writer must use the correct word choice for what they are meaning to say. The reader must be able to interpret the meaning. An example of not being able to interpret the meaning would be using the medical terminology such as cholecystectomy when speaking with a patient. The patient has no clue what you are talking about; but if you say gallbladder out, they would be able to interpret the meaning. Precision is essential in scientific writing; ... • 10. Allegory In The Handmaids Tale The post Gileadean society depicted decades after Offred s story is the final allegory, presenting, in its totality, the cyclicality of human nature. Just as the rise of Gilead showed the downfall of liberalism and feminism, the fall of Gilead showed the exact opposite, a return to a world very similar to the one before Gilead ever existed. In the novel, a symposium on the history of Gilead describes how Gilead is a fascinating and worthwhile talk (299), using many similar descriptors as are used to speak of the other classically conservative religious society, Puritanical Massachusetts. Atwood presents how, just as the rise of Gilead signalled an end to the progression of economic and social liberalism, the fall of Gilead showed the end... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During Gilead, her mindset stays the same, as using her extremely powerful confidence, as her stiff backed posture was apparently enough to convince the Angels on guard... Moira marched straight out the front door (132). Even under the crushing oppression of Gilead, people like Moira and Offred keep up their resentment towards being told what to do, even if the format changes. It is described how in Gilead, Offred decides against being a victim: I intend to last , she declares. To last, she must pay attention. Especially early on in the novel, she is alert to every detail around her (Neuman 4). On the more negative spectrum of unchanging human qualities, Atwood presents the eternal establishment of social classes, even with the purported ideas that everyone be equal in oppression. In Gilead racial and social divides abound, as it is reported how The Econowives do not like [Handmaids] (Atwood 44). This, and the fact that the symposium describes the racism that occurred in Gilead, shows how, no matter what the society is, people will always carve out a space for them on the social ladder, only to look down on those below them and envy those above them. The fact that humans, under either an extremely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparison Of Heart Of Darkness And Apocalypse Now Heart of Darkness, written by Joseph Conrad in 1899 inspired director, Francis Ford Coppola to create the film Apocalypse Now, which was released in 1979. The two parallel each other, yet they each reflect the time periods and prejudices of their creators. Through Conrad s work, the horrors of the Europeans journey into the Congo is exposed. Alternatively, Coppola s work exposes the horrors of Vietnam. The film begins and ends with the eerily accurate song, The End, by The Doors, who were an important voice in Coppola s era. The lyrist was very interested in cinema and had stated that Film confers a kind of spurious eternity (Jim Morrison). In Apocalypse Now, the role of this character is portrayed by Colonel Bill Kilgore. Marlow remarks on the magnificent quality of the Manager s health, stating, His position had come to him why? Perhaps because he was never ill (Conrad 89). The manager s inability to get sick strips him of a quality which makes men human. Within the concept of illness, there is the very human sensation of pain. Colonel Bill Kilgore escapes all pain. Willard states, He knew he wasn t gonna get so much as a scratch here (Coppola). Emptiness replaces their humanistic feelings of illness or pain. Without these sensations, they desensitized, so that they are left as merely physical shells. As a result of these two characters avoiding any physical pain, it is implied that the jungle has the ability to rob men of the qualities which makes them human. Since they are unable to feel pain and suffering themselves, they are therefore, unable to sympathize with others pain and suffering. • 13. The Game Of Soccer Essay Description Soccer is a sport played with two teams of eleven players on a rectangular grass field with a ball and typically lasts 90 minutes. The players wear shorts, a short sleeved jersey, shin guards, long socks, and cleats. Of the eleven players, one is a goalkeeper and the remaining players are either playing defense, midfield, or forward. The goalkeeper s objective is to stop the ball from going into his or her team s goal. The other players, using only their feet, must dribble and pass the ball in order to move it up the field and attempt to place the ball in the opposing team s goal. In the middle of both short ends of the field, there is a goal, one belonging to each team.(Swanson) The objective of each team is to place the ball in the goal of the opposing team to get a point. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. History There is evidence tracing soccer back to 2000 BC. At this time, the game was played by the Romans, Greeks, and Chinese. A leather ball was being dribbled and kicked in a small net or passed between two people. (History) The game of soccer arrived in England during the medieval times. During this time, the objective of the game was to move the ball to a specific spot. Violent strategies such as punching, kicking, and biting were used to slow down the opposing team. Violent incidents during a soccer match were common. King Edward III of England and King James I of Scotland banned soccer in 1365 and 1424 respectively due ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Why Democratic States Do Not Fight Each Other Why democratic states do not fight each other The German philosopher Immanuel Kant outlined an original relevant idea in his essay Perpetual Peace (1795). Kant s theory is based on a world with countries sharing a common a constitutional republic as political regime, where people would appeal for a continuous or perpetual peace as an ideal for living. The principle of Kant s idea is that people will not decide to go on war unless to defend themselves and because of this there would be no aggressor nations and the war occurrences would end. For Kant, the reluctance of the people to support war and its related costs restrains democratic leaders from engaging conflicts with other nations. A small group of seven terrorists rented a van, parked it in the underground parking garage of the World Trade Center, departed and then detonated it. The explosion resulted in six killed, more than one thousand injured, and a nearly 100 foot crater that was several stories deep. (FBI, 2008). The ensuing investigation involved the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and New York Joint Terrorism Task Force and many FBI agents worldwide. The investigation revealed many clues. The first was the vehicle identification number for the rented van, which led to the arrest of Mohammad Salameh. More clues eventually led to the arrest of five other members of the group. After the attack, the Port Authority spent vast sums of money to repair the building as well as improving the operational and safety capabilities of the facility. This is arguably the most famous quote made by Deere and that has stuck with the company for the last 175 years. Deere was the man who kick started modern farming by inventing the first ever cast steel plow, as opposed to the much heavier cast iron plow that worked alright in the sandy soil but the fertile heavy soil of the plains would just stick too. This is how john Deere s steel plow became known as The Plow That Broke the Plains. Mr. John Deere was born in Rutland Vermont in 1804, and grew up in nearby Middlebury. Deere was just four years old when his father, William, was lost at sea and never returned leaving his mother, Sarah Deere, to raise him. Deere was not an only child, living with five brothers and sisters in a moderately poor family so there was no leftover money for education. John very rarely attended school and focused his time on work to make money to support his family. He worked for a few different people, such as farmers and shop keepers but did not stay with a job for more than a few months at a time. until age 17 when he got an offer for an apprenticeship working for a blacksmith in a town about 50 miles from home, with his mothers permission he left home to go to work learning the trade of blacksmithing. • 19. Negative Effects Of Radiation The word radiation means several things such as radio waves and light. When such types of radiation travel through substances, it can become charged electrically. When it is also in a tissue that is living, the ions that were produced by the radiation can affect biological processes (IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency), n.d.). There are several ways people are exposed to radiation, including x rays, radiation used to diagnose diseases and for cancer therapy, nuclear explosive testing that goes wrong, small quantities of radioactive materials released into the environment from coal and nuclear power plants, etc. (IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency), n.d.). The radiation that is emitted from cell phones, X raymachines, and nuclear power plants are very different. They are all energy, but the difference is that unlike the others, cell phones are not radioactive, and harms the body, unlike the others (Ornes, 2011). The phones operate by altering your voice into a radio wave, which it dispatches with an antenna that it also uses to receive the radio waves from the other line, which it changes to a voice that the user can comprehend. Since the radio waves are also a type of radiation, if the user s phone is close to the user s head, the tissues can absorb the radiation, which hasn t yet been confirmed, but could later on be the cause of a brain tumor or disease, since the use of cell phones didn t start until about 15 years ago (Ornes, 2009). Studies show that spending 50 minutes or more with an active phone near your ear increases harmful brain activity because when cell phones are actively working, the radiation they emit could hurt you, after years of using a cell phone. Although there is a lot of evidence that suggests that cell phones are harmful, scientists, are still not completely sure (Ornes, 2011). SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) is the rate measurement of how much radiation your body s tissues can absorb when you are using a cellphone. The SAR for a cellphone is set for a limit of 1.6 watts of energy absorbed per kilogram of body weight (Highest and Lowest Radiation Cell Phones, 2017). Te WhДЃriki describes curriculum as the sum total of the experiences, activities, and events, whether direct or indirect, which occur within an environment designed to foster children s learning and development (Ministry of Education, 1996, p.10). These experiences, activities and events vary from centre to centre; though still provide opportunities for healthy holistic development. • 25. Evil and Omnipotence Why does an omnipotent and omnibenevolent God allow natural and moral evil to happen without any restrictions? John Hick, a proponent of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz s theodicy defense, answered: in order that human beings, as free responsible agents, may use this world as a place of soul making, which involves the spiritual perfection of our character and persons (Pojman 74). According to Hick, creation has not been finished its work, it is still undergoing a process, that is, the lives of individual human beings. Hick believed that Godis omnibenevolent because he is allowing us to learn how to be perfect on our own. By perfect we mean, In the image, but not the likeness, of God (Pojman 74). Hick believed that we are imperfect beings living in an imperfect world so that we cannot try to become like God. In other words, God is giving us this gift. The problem with gift arises when we assume that human beings are always right, or infallible. In John Hick s Philosophy of Religion, he stated, No one could ever injure anyone else (Pojman 74). Hick held the strong view that if humans had the quality of perfection, then this world would not be the best of all possible worlds for all our moral concepts and emotional attachments would be non existent (Pojman 74). As Daffern wrote, it is necessary to maintain a balance of these forces because fire and water compensate for what their counterpart lacks. Likewise, Montag finds this balance while working with his mentor, Faber, asserting He would be Montag plus Faber, fire plus water, and then, one day... there would be neither fire nor water, but wine (Bradbury 99). Fire and water as a pair create something new. Faber deters Montag s impulsiveness and Montag makes up for Faber s cowardice. This relationship is essential for Montag as it helps him find the knowledge, confidence, and resolve to tread a new path in life. Despite fire and water being conflicting forces, they can also complement each other to create a better result. In the end, Daffern and Bradbury draw upon this idea by juxtaposing the serenity of water and the vigor of fire, which Montag personally experiences and which Daffern relates to the implacable nature of ... • 34. Rhetorical Essay Conclusion One of the main things Thoreau tries to highlight throughout the Conclusion is the importance of being one s self. He states, If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away. I believe that Thoreau is making a statement and sharing his belief that it is not one s job to follow in the footsteps of others. Thoreau wants each person to find what they are passionate about, and carve their own path, no matter how different or unique that passion may be in the eyes of society. Will this research be confidential, will you use deception, and will the research you are doing harm any of the participants, are all extremely important factors to consider. These factors will be identified and considered while using the following hypothesis: As children increase their technology usage, interpersonal communicationskills decrease. Confidentiality Anonymity The first ethical consideration that must be established is whether or not the study will offer confidentiality to the participating parties. In the instance of this communication research study, when it comes to trying to prove or disprove the hypothesis, there will be no reason to not offer complete confidentiality and anonymity. In this study, we are analyzing children and the guarantee of confidentiality and anonymity would offer comfort so the participants can act naturally without fear of judgment (Jamison, n.d.). Ronald Reagan was the governor of California before he decided to run for the presidency. John Anderson was a representative in Illinois and Carter was the incumbent. The lengthy Iran hostage crisissharpened public opinions by the beginning of the election season. In the 1970s, the United States were experiencing a straining episode of low economic growth, high price increases and interest rates and an irregular energy crisis. The sense of discomfort in both domestic and foreign affairs in the nation were heading downward, this added to the downward spiral that was already going on. Between Carter, Anderson and Reagan, the general election campaign of the 1980s seemed more concerned with shadowboxing around political issues rather than a serious discussion of the issues that concerned voters. A key turning point in American politics was the election of 1980. It indicated the new electoral power of the suburbs. The success that Reagan had as a conservative would initiate a group of parties because liberals and conservatives would either leave politics or change party affiliations through 1980 s and 1990 s. In the scientific community, there have been many advancements in the technologies and processes used to help us understand the truth of the world around us. The invention of the electron microscope by Ernst Ruska and Max Knoll in 1933 is just an example of one of these advancements. There is another advancement that has roots over one hundred and sixty million years old, and that is the green fluorescent protein(GFP). The fluorescence from GFP molecules has made it feasible to look through a microscope at a spatial resolution higher than the diffraction limit. The green fluorescent proteinwas first found in the Aequorea Victoria, or the crystal jellyfish. It is a bioluminescent hydrozoan jellyfish, or hydromedusa (1). In the crystal jellyfish, there are two proteins that are responsible for its bioluminescent, aequorin and GFP. They are both located in the photo organs of the jellyfish. The jellyfish releases calcium ions which the aequorin binds to. The process of binding gives off a blue light, which is then absorbed by the GFP. The blue light absorbed is then converted into the green light that GFP is named for (2). At the moment there is no apparent reason for the bioluminescence displayed by the Aequorea Victoria since it has not been observed being used as a defense mechanism or as a signalling mechanism. Osamu Shimomura was the first person to isolate the GFP. He started to study the bioluminescence of crystal jellyfish at Princeton University in 1960 and he and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The message about death that Slaughterhouse Five attempts to bring is far different than the message A Tale of Two Cities attempts to bring. While Slaughterhouse Five tries to tell us that death is meaningless and holds no weight, A Tale of Two Cities tries to tell us that death holds a lot of weight in the world, and that in some cases can be the most meaningful thing in the world. Vonnegut throughout his book takes a tone that is aloof or uncaring when it comes to death, a tone that tells us that he thinks death is meaningless, or weightless, whereas we can see that Dickens takes a more serious tone when it comes to death, showing that he has a deep respect for meaningful death, albeit when when he thinks that there is a pointless death, his tone changes to one of frustration or chastising. Vonnegut, on the other hand, keeps the same tone about death throughout the entire book, never changing his tone when an important death happens, or when a meaningful death occurs, but always keeps the same tone that says that he believes death holds no weight, in complete contrast to Dickens, who, no matter the circumstance, whether the death is important or meaningless, always seems to keep some level of respect for death in the way he talks about it. ...
