Differences of Private and Public Language Essay
Hanyong Na Michaela Vargas English 120 8669 7 October, 2012 Differences of Private and
Public Language I remember to start with that day in Sacramento when I first entered a
classroom, able to understand some fifty stray English words (Rodriguez 535). Richard
Rodriguez, who is the author of the essay Private Language, Public Language , introduces how
he was raised and lived as well as how he felt growing up in the States as an immigrant family. After
reading the Rodriguez s essay, there are several points as well as the experiences that I was able to
relate, perhaps because I share a similar background as the writer himself. Language as he says is

His personality also changes when he is in public with stranger, which is a non family member.
Walking down the sidewalk, under the canopy of talk trees, I d warily notice the suddenly silent
neighborhood kids who stood warily watching me (Rodriguez 537). Rodriguez was not the only
one who did not have the confidence and felt comfortable in English. In public, my father and
mother spoke hesitant, accented, not always grammatical English (Rodriguez 536). They were
not ashamed of where they came from but because they were well aware of the fact that they did
not sound like gringos. Their voice and the tones were lower compared to when they spoke in
Spanish. I was unable to hear my own sounds, but I know very well that I spoke English poorly
(Rodriguez 536). He was never too embarrassed about how his parents did not speak English
fluently because they went about with their life very well and coped with their issues on their
own. However, he could not hide the fact that he got nervous when he was at presence with his
father. Hearing them, I d grow nervous, my clutching trust in their protection and power weakened
(Rodriguez, 537). The very first chance that I got, I evaded his grasp and ran on ahead into the
dark, skipping with feigned boyish exuberance (Rodriguez 537).On the other hand, the situation

Benjamin Franklin Sparknotes
Benjamin Franklin s autobiography starts off with him addressing it Dear Son and beginning
with this history of his family. He traces it back to three hundred years. His father and his wife
settled in Boston along with Franklin and his siblings. Although Franklin is identified as
intelligent it was also known that he struggles in school(he is told he must take up a trade). He
strongly disliked his father s trade and so he tried out a few others before being apprenticed to
his brother James, a printer. He enjoys this trade and spends his leisure time perfecting his own
writing. James and Franklin did not get along. So, Franklin and his friend John Collins run away
to Philadelphia. There Franklin gets work with a printer, with whom he has a pleasant enough
relationship. Sir William Keith(the Governor of the province) was impressed by Franklin s
work, and offers to help Franklin convince his father that he should open his own shop. However,
his father thinks he is too young and tells him he has to spend time working hard for his trade.
Franklin agreeing because he had no other choice and hopes in the near future to have his own
shop. In the meantime, he has a fallout with Collins. Franklin worries about paying back the
money of his father s friend(Vernon), who had given it to Franklin for safekeeping. Franklin has a
legal dispute with a young woman named Miss Read and enjoyed conversing about poetry and
philosophy with other young men in the town. One man, James

Whole Town Research Paper
How Does One Religion Affect a Whole Town? Bergen County is a very densely populated
county, but I want to look closer, I want to look as a specific town within Bergen County; I want
to take a look at the Borough of Fair Lawn. The Borough of Fair Lawn in 2011 estimated to have
a population of 32,669 people. According to New York Times, municipal officials estimate that
they make up 33 to 40 percent of the population, and of the 21 houses of worship 8 of them are
synagogues. But this is not why I am writing this paper, I wanted to look deeper into the community
due to the fact that the borough of Fair Lawn has made it a point to accommodate the Jewish
community but with the growth of the town has not changed its ways to accommodate all of the
other religion that now... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of this, unlike most of the surrounding towns, the Fair Lawn school system has a
number of Jewish holidays off. On many occasions due to weather, those who celebrate other
holidays, such as Good Friday, needed permission from all teachers to have the day off from
school. This permission was only granted when the students grades where above specific letter
grade, if they had less then 7 absent days, and if all teachers agreed to sign the permission sheet;
therefore your ability to celebrate the holiday would be in your teachers hands. The town has
created such a large bond with its Jewish community, that some other religions needs have the
ability to be easily be forgotten. The town has created a very large bond with the Jewish
community that in order to accommodate those of the Jewish religion who attend Sabbath on
Saturday s, the town strung wire between telephone poles to surround nearly all of the borough
in what in Hebrew is called an eruv, an enclosure in which Orthodox Jews are allowed to use baby
carriages and carry objects like keys, canes and eyeglasses on the Sabbath. New York

Speech Language Pathology Intervention Paper
Introduction:
In the field of speech language pathology parent education and involvement in treatment programs
can be very beneficial to a client s progress(TEMPEL). Evidence supports the use of programs that
contain interactive approaches to speech and language intervention(LORRAINE). The importance
of education is often recognized but can be difficult to deliver. The challenge of providing an
effective parent/ caregiver education is an issue that Speech Language Pthologists may come in
contact with.
While some speech language pathologists may choose to deliver parent education using their own
methodology , a large number may opt to participate in teaching methodology and coaching
framework model workshops. One of these coaching framework model workshops is the Hanen
Program. This program focuses on educating parents on how to facilitate ... Show more content on

Parents are very important to the intervention process so educating parents on how to facilitate
their child s language and speech could potentially be very helpful to the child s
progress(ALEEN MARHSall) Typical Speech Language Pathology intervention only happens at
most for a 1 2 hours a few times a week, but there are many opportunities to increase a child s
speech and language outside of therapy. Many parents are not aware of how to do this or the
opportunities, which is why programs such as Hanen were created.
The Hanen program seeks to educate parents on ways that they can provide language and speech
opportunities in a more naturalistic environment and foster language and speech development.

The Gas And Natural Gas
With reserves in 31 states, the US has a supply of natural gas large enough to provide the country
with energy for decades ( Gas Drilling: The Story So Far ). Access to these vast deposits is helping
to significantly decrease the United States reliance on foreign energy, as we have recently become
the largest natural gasproducer worldwide ( Hydraulic Fracturing Natural Gas and Oil
Development ). In addition to abundance, natural gas has several other benefits as well. Natural
gas emits only half as much carbon dioxide when burned than coal does, and currently the cost
per unit is only one third that of oil, giving it some clear advantages over other widely used fossil
fuels (Harvey, Hal). As stated by chairman of BP Capital T. Boone

Many of the additives on this list are known toxins, carcinogens, and volatile organic compounds
that are recognized for their ability to cause harm in the human body (Lustgarten, Abraham).
Colborn and her co authors went a step further to evaluate every chemical on the list in terms of
health effects, and the results were alarming. Although the effects were detrimental across the
board, Colborn found 71 chemicals that were associated with causing harm in 10 or more areas,
including the central nervous system, cardiovascular system, and reproductive systems. What is
even more concerning is that companies find a way to justify their use of harmful substances by
claiming that they make up only a small fraction of the injected fluid; less than one percent.
However, experts like Colborn believe that even a seemingly small percentage translates to tens of
thousands of gallons of these chemicals being pumped underground, and their research shows that
even very low doses of the compounds can cause significant damage (Lustgarten, Abraham). One of
the most prominent concerns regarding the toxicity of chemical additives lies in the threat of
groundwater contamination. Although a 2004 EPA study concluded that fracking poses no threat to
drinking water, the rising

Western Treatment Of Horses
When I was in elementary school, I had very strong feelings about everything. If you said black,
I said white. If you said the sky was blue, I said it was not. Basically, if you thought you were
right, I would attempt to challenge that in any way I could, even if that meant going against all
logical thinking. This obstinance is best described in one time when I felt very strongly about
horses. My familyand I had horses for many years, and so did some of our friends. However, those
friends treated their horses much differently than we did. We treated our horses with loveand
respect, going with the Western style of riding. Our friends still loved their horses, you could tell,
but it was less of a pet type of love than a money making... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their horses were Tennessee Walkers, and once their horsereached a certain age, that horse was

Tennessee Walking horse trainers used a technique called soring on their horses hooves to acquire
an exaggerated gait, or specialized type of walking, trotting, and cantering for show performance.
Along with my sister and a few other friends, I believed that this technique was harmful to horses.
After all, soring often involves chemicals, weighted shoes, pads, boots, and chains to achieve the

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
The concept of licensing has been around for a long time, but its importance in society and business
is being acknowledged with the evolving time. With the changing economic scenario licensing is
proving to be the new profit generating source. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Japanese economic miracle is built on licensing as Japan develops dominance in consumer
electronics, optics and other fields. It is noted that Japan s strategy of extensive licensing allowed it
to jump start the country rebuilding and, in the case of consumer electronics, to dominate
worldwide markets with its innovations.
The pharmaceutical industry was the first industry to make use of systematic licensing to speed up
product development and also to capture existing market.
Licensing generate a lot of revenue. Say for example, about 90 percent of the $160 million a
year in sales at Calvin Klein Inc. comes from licensing the designer s name to makers of
underwear, jeans and perfume. The only merchandise the New York based company makes itself,
in fact, is its women s apparel line.. IBM, after energizing its efforts to license its thousands of
technology patents a few years ago, now attributes $1 billion a year of its corporate sales to
licensing..
Thus Licensing deals can be seen in ancient time and it still continues to leave its marks and with
evolving time the importance of having a fair knowledge of license and licensing is becoming even
more felt.

The Importance Of The First Industrial Revolution
The human race has gone through many changes throughout history and one of the greatest most
crucial changes was Industrial Revolution. The First Industrial Revolution can go back to the
1790s, and is very interesting that how it was caused by a whole set of social and economic
factors. Before the first industrial revolution, the economic surplus was almost zero and agriculture
was the basic economic activity where populations were not even given a single opportunity to
enjoy the benefits of higher living standards. The First Industrial Revolution was occurred in
England between 1750 and 1850 where the transformation of Britain from a Neolithic nation into an
industrious nation was seen. It came as an urgent and unexpected response to the rapid growth of
population, introduction of many different laws England, and an increase in food production
(Hooker, 1996). It spread very quickly throughout the world, introducing the modernization of
agriculture and manufacturing of textile. The first revolution mainly focused on the production of
new textile machinery, iron manufacturing, improved methods of coal production and various
agriculture techniques.
New laws made peasants to leave their lands and move to the cities increasing urban population.
This also led to the redistribution of income opportunities. With the emergence of mercantilism and
with the pursuit of wealth turning into the major social value in England, more and more people
found it necessary to achieve better

West Nile Virus Vaccine Analysis
The most sophisticated way may be to avoid the mosquitos altogether. According to the World
Health Organization More than a handful governments and pharmaceutical companies are
working on a vaccine for Zika. Some are hunting old fashioned vaccines, like the ones used to
protect from measles and chicken pox; these vaccines stimulate the body s immune response by
exposing it to a faded version of the virus or just simply to the molecules from a virus that cause
the body to produce antibodies. The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)
mentioned that by following the blueprint used to create a vaccinefor the mosquito borne West Nile
virus would be a cheaper and faster way around it. That technique relies on injecting DNAparticles
normally found inside the cells of a bacteria that are separated from a cell s DNA and can
duplicate by itself. DNA molecules (plasmids) have the advantage of carrying the DNA code for
their virus antigens, without being contagious, therefore stimulating the body s autoimmune
response. So far, the plasmid based West Nile virus vaccine was successful in its early experimental
tests.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Michael Diamond, from the Infectious Diseases and Vaccine Development Center at Washington
University in St. Louis, said that the challenge is to get the vaccine to stimulate an immune
response without causing harm. Do no damage is always a repetition when it comes to vaccines,
However since the situation is urgent, it might call for some unusual methods: Barney Graham, a
representative director of the NIAID vaccine research center claims that scientists could rapidly
inspect their possibilities by just trying out the potential vaccines in young, healthy (and not
pregnant) volunteers, and if the first tests go well we could move on by injecting them with the Zika

Analgesima Essay
Analgesics
Pain control is essential to quality patient care. Otitis externa can be quite painful, and patients
frequently request analgesics. These agents ensure patient comfort and may have sedating
properties. Inexpensive, simple non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) reduce
inflammation and irritation and can be paired with opiates to improve pain symptoms. In some
cases, systemic analgesics are helpful before ear cleaning or wick placement (27,20).

patients with fever, immunosuppression, diabetes, adenopathy, or an infection extending outside
the ear canal. They should be given to individuals with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Occasionally an abscess forms in the ear canal; this usually occurs in cases of OE caused by S.
aureus (6). Treatment of the abscess is often accomplished by means of a simple incision and
drainage procedure using a needle or a small blade.
Long term monitoring
For a patient of OE with debris, a suctioning of the EAC on a weekly basis is required until debris
has been removed. Patients must be monitored to ensure complete resolution of OE. Even in mild
cases, follow up is important for evaluating the response to treatment. A follow up visit 1 week after
starting treatment is usually adequate (3).
(d) Prognosis
Most incidents of OE resolve without difficulty. The majority of patients improve within 48 72
hours of antibiotic administration. Failure to improve within 2 3 days should call the diagnosis into
question and prompt the physician to reevaluate the patient. Otitis externa usually resolves fully in
7 10 days (3). Resolution of eczematoid OE occurs with control of the primary skin condition. In
some patients, OE can cause severe otalgia necessitating administration of narcotic pain relievers.
Pain usually improves 2 5 days after initiating therapy (27). Temporary hearing loss is common
secondary to canal occlusion. Severe infections may cause cellulitis or lymphadenitis of the face or
neck. If left untreated, the infection may invade the deeper adjacent structures and progress to
necrotizing (malignant)

The Mall Of New Jersey
This first time I remember walking through the mall in New Jersey I was a little girl holding my
mother s hand. This mall is a dismal place, with one level and one major department store on
each end. The elongated brown brick walls made me feel like I am walking into a dungeon, into
the land of the abyss. It was not a joyous place for a child to visit. On one occasion, my mother
brought me an ice cream cone and with one lick it was on the floor. I never saw my mother so
mad before; she picked up the ice cream and demanded I receive another one. Little did I know
that this dark dreary space was going was my future place of employment. The mall was not a
place I hung out at as a teenager, first, it was too far and second we had a downtown to shop.
While I was away at school they remodeled the mall and expanded the space into a mega palace
to include four levels of bright lights, white walls, shining floors, glass elevator and a skylight.
The mall added a movie theater, bookstore, hair salons, restaurants, food court, computer stores,
post office, and fitness center, just to name a few minor changes. I was speechless, walking
around the same mall as I did as a child with amazing like Charlie in the Chocolate Factory. The
mall played two major points in my life, the time I spent with my mother as a child trying on
clothes wishing we could afford to buy and my job working in cosmetics saleswoman in a major
department store. As a consequence of the mall, local boutiques and mom

Sisyphus
Taylor finds the meaning of life in the inner compulsion to be doing just what we were put here
to do, and to go on doing it forever. The way Richard phrased his argument is perplexed and quite
ambiguous. It may well be, that Taylor was inattentive with his formulation and all he meant to
say was that a life is meaningful if the one who lives it can do what is in their nature to do, and
pursue the goals that their nature calls for. Would we then be able to conclude that it is in
Sisyphus s nature to ram rocks up hills and finds fulfillment in his eternal labor. Fulfilment, only
makes our lives meaningful if it is a fitting fulfilment. The problem is that we may not always
exactly know which activities merit our love. In the case of Sisyphus,... Show more content on

It is also stated that no action or project really gives life it s absolute meaning. In both cases, the
seemingly endless nightmare of eternal and pointless activity has now been overridden with the
scorching Hell of eternal absence. According to Taylor, humanity feels the deep need to have a
destiny, to fulfill an inner compulsion to be doing just what we were put here to do. This idea is
what makes life so meaningful. The meaning is in the passion of doing of things, not necessarily in
what that doing leads to. As Taylor stated, The meaning of lifeis from within us, it is not bestowed
from without, and it far exceeds in both beauty and permanence any heaven of which men have
ever dreamed or yearned for (484). The point of living is simply to be living whether that s doing
what one loves to do or simply getting through every day. While agreeing with Taylor, I must add
that instead of asking whether life has been good for a certain person, we should be asking
whether it has been admirable or if it has been something to proud of. To summarize, we give
meaning to our lives by the active engagement our wills have in our

INTRODUCTION
Have you experienced purchasing a product then discovered that it is defective in some way or
does not function the way it was designed to, or found that a piece of the product is missing or
defective. As consumers, we expect the products we purchase to function as intended. However,
producers of products know that it is not always possible to inspect every product and every aspect
of the production process at all times. The challenge is to design ways to maximize the ability to
monitor the quality of products being produced and eliminate defects. (TQM) addresses

The personnel responsible for process selection must be cognizant of the effect of quality
characteristic variances on the quality of the product.
This process, developed by Dr. Taguchi, Robust design, which is based upon loss function, Process
capability analysis, which is an important step for selection of processes for manufacture of the
components and the product, Process capability analysis cannot be completed without ascertaining
that the process is in control. The effect of measurement error should also be taken into
consideration. Emphasis is given to modeling of errors, estimation of error variances, and the effect
of measurement errors on decisions related to quality. After process selection is completed, optimal
means for obtaining the quality characteristics must be determined; the emphasis is on the
methodologies used and the development of objective functions and solution procedures used by
various researchers. The next step in the methodology is process setting, in which the actual
process mean is brought as close as possible to the optimal value determined earlier. Once the
process setting is completed, manufacture of the components can begin. During the entire period of
manufacture, the mean and variance of the process must be kept at their respective target values,
which are accomplished, through process control, using control charts. Design of experiments, can
be used in any of the steps mentioned earlier. It serves as a

Jacob offspring Jacob was a descendant of Abraham and Isaac. Jacob was favored by God which
the brother Esau got jealous of and, wanted to kill him. To hide away from the brother s jealousy,

The two wives and their maid servants gave Jacob twelve sons. The twelve sons formed the

Young And Immature In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet, the star crossed lovers , do not have real love at all (Shakespeare). They are
too young to have true love, instead it is just based off looks. If they are older they might
understand what love really is. Since they are young and immature they rush into decisions they
make. They also take drastic measures in the decisions and how to handle themselves. They are
young and immature, and this is why their story ends the way it does, in complete tragedy.
Romeo loves with his eyes, but he does not love with his heart. He is too immature to stay true to
one girl if there is another girl that is more beautiful. Romeo meets Juliet and says to Friar

instead they just get married. If they would just wait to find a good time to maybe talk to their
parents about it, that would be the mature thing to do. Romeo also has immaturity not in love, but
in revenge. After Tybalt kills Mercutio, Romeo immaturely goes and gets Tybalt. Most of us would
do this, but it is still immature. Romeo should just wait for the Prince to give Tybalt his

whose genetic material has been genetically engineered with DNA from bacteria, viruses or

following benefits that GM food will bring: increase crop yields, lower cost of herbicide, and

It restrict farmers to own the seeds of their GM plants, saying that it is to justify money the

they sent detectives to watch farmers and take videos of them. This will mentally ruin farmers.
The farmers are innocent in many cases, but they don t have enough money to fight in court, so
they can only admit and pay Monsanto. Monsanto contradict themselves because they insist the
crop has no difference form conventional natural varieties, but when it comes to patent, they say
its completely different and they are in patent. A significant number of research casts doubt on
Monsanto s argument. For example, a rat feeding research observed that after the consumption
of Bt corn, rats showed slight but dose related significant variations in growth for both sexes,
resulting in 3.3% decrease in weight for males and 3.7% increase for females. It also caused
malfunction of kidney and females s pregnancy. (Gilles Eric, Dominique and Joel) Another study
found the corn s Bt toxin in the blood of pregnant women and their babies, as well as in non
pregnant women. (Smith) The cause of death in rats shown in the above research is not because
of toxin, but a process that genes are being changed. As the proverb goes, you are what you eat.

Now, seeing as though the measurable aspect of SMART has been expressed, let us move to its
next part. When speaking about the attainability of the DIY Project, in general, the goals are
very attainable: there already exist similar venues. So, without absolute perfection, this idea is
attainable. We simply invite musicians to play, we invite people to listen, and we invite people
to create art. Again, this is attainable. However, there is one aspect of the DIY Project that may
be unattainable: a alcohol/drug free venue. Unfortunately, some people enjoy sneaking such
substances into venues. For this reason, we will publically exhibit our disdain for drugs and
alcohol in the venue: it ruins the experience for too many people (speaking from prior
knowledge). Also, there must be staff that watches for drug and alcohol usage. This, in the end,
may only allow for substance usage to become lower than most venues. In sum, then, the DIY
Project may not be able to rid itself of all drugs and alcohol, but it can minimize the presence of

Fair Trade Market Research Assignment
Fair Trade Research Assignment
What is Fair Trade?
Fair Trade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of
trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. By requiring companies to pay sustainable
prices, Fair Trade addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates
against the poorest, weakest producers. It enables them to improve their position and have more
control over their lives. Fair Trade also ensures that the products being purchased have been grown
or created under a hygienic and safe environment. Today, more than six million farmers, producers
and growers benefit from the unique Fair Trade system. This scheme provides the farmers and
producers with a fair price for the produce helping them to sustain a suitable living. They also
receive an additional sum, also known as the Fair Trade Premium, which can be used for social,
economic and environmental development in their communities. The developments can include
improvements in medical and educational facilities. Fairtrade also prohibits the use of the child
labour system. (Fairtrade, 2015)
Why was Fair Trade developed?
The Fair Trade system s initial purpose is so that farmers in less developed countries earn a higher
sustainable price. Sticking to the Fair Trade guidelines means that the farmers receive a better price
for their crop and they stand a better chance to make a living. (Uk.answers.yahoo.com, 2015) This

Comparing Tell-Tale Heart And The Monkey s Paw
The Tell Tale Heart and The Monkey s Paw both convey suspicion and growing fear of what will
happen The Monkey s Paw is about a monkey s paw that grants three wishes, but in the worst
way. The Tell Tale Heart is about a man who murders an old man, but his guilty conscience
betrayed him by making him hear the old man s heart after he died. The Monkey s Paw creates
suspense through a slow paced timeline, and The Tell Tale Heartcreates suspense throughout the
plot, the murder, and finally the heart beating after death causing him to surrender and confess.
The Monkey s Paw is very slow paced and generates suspense through it. The Monkey s Paw is

Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, And Traditional Psychodynamic...
Psychodynamic Theories
What is traditional psychodynamic theory? Who and where did it come? How did contemporary
psychodynamic theory develop and expand upon those ideas? Who were the key players?
Theories
The traditional psychodynamic theories of personality were introduced to us through Sigmund Freud
, Carl Jung, and Alfred Alder. From there many other great minds were able to build upon the
framework of the ideas of those who had gone before them. Most notably was Melanie Klein, Karen
Horney, Eric Fromm, and Erik Erikson. Traditional psychodynamic theorists focused more on the
unconscious and how it relates to personality, whereas contemporary psychodynamic theorist
focused more on how the individual develops their personality.
Traditional Theories The traditional psychodynamic theories put great emphases on the importance
of the unconscious mind and believed that personality traits were something people are born. The
consensus being that the traits everyone expressed as being inherent and coming from within.
There was not a huge amount of focus on how the outside world may have contributed to an
individual s personality. Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, and Alfred Alder believed that what occurred
in the unconscious mind had a significant impact on what went on in the conscious mind. The main
propositions and components of Sigmund Freud s psychoanalysis theory are that an adult s
personality is largely determined by their experiences during childhood and that people are

Summary Of Build An Ark
promised Noah that he and his family would not be destroyed with the evil people. Build an Ark
God told Noah. When he finished you and your sons and your wife and your son s wives will go
into the Ark, God added. You will live there until the flood is over. God told him to bring one
male and female of every kind of animal into the Ark and enough food for all the people and the
animals.
It is believed that Noah had Granddaughters. But if so then why did they not go into the Ark. From
what I can understand Noah s three granddaughters married wicked men and forsake the house of
their fathers. They joined the wicked and their father s beliefs. So they were punished as the
wicked were punished and drowned in the flood.

So more than likely Satan wanted Jonah dead for many reasons but mainly: 1) He saw that Jonah
was going to be a prophet of the Lord. 2) That Jonah saved hundreds and probably thousands from
wrath of God. 3) Satan just likes destruction and wants all to die and burn in Hell.
The number of years Noah was building the Ark. How many years did it take him? How did you
come to this conclusion? The bible doesn t really say how long it took, but it was less than one
hundred and twenty years. (Genesis 5:32, 6:4, and 7:6) Some people have made the claim that
this passage means that it took Noah one hundred and twenty years to build the Ark. Even given
the Ark s massive scale. (Roughly four hundred and fifty feet long by seventy five feet wide by
forty feet high), one hundred and twenty years seems like an excessively long time to take to build
the Ark. Most biblical scholars agree that God was saying the he was giving mankind, one hundred
and twenty years in which to repent, after which would come judgement for their wickedness. This
means that Noah had one hundred and twenty years warning before the flood. We can reasonably
assume that God gave Noah the blueprints for the Ark at this

Characterism In Our Twisted Hero By Yi Munyol
As autumn approaches, and leaves cascade to the ground as if they re Joffrey ballerinas, trees
become a significant symbol of this season and life with their oxygen that fills our lungs.
Nevertheless, the entanglement of their arms and height encourage an idea of fright and
intimidation, making trees one of the many twisted structures that allows people to function and
prosper in existence.
Merriam Webster defines the crooked word of twisted as mentally or emotionally unsound or
disturbed, giving synonyms like sick and cruel minded. Merriam Webster also explains the idea
of a hero as a person admired for achievements and noble qualities, and/or one who shows great
courage. While agreeing with these denotations, twisted can have several different interpretations
based on a person s perspective. Factors that may change a person s views on who or what is
twisted are often his or her ideology, culture, religion, social outlook, and other orientations. As
witnessed in Our Twisted Heroby Yi Munyol, there are several characters who could fit the
twisted or hero role. For example, some could see Han as apt for the hero by putting the thought
of combatting Om initially in the minds of his peers, or the new teacher could be viewed as the
hero with his fight to demolish Om s destructive power in the classroom. While these points are
valid, Han and the new teacher do not seem unbalanced in much or any form; they each had
purposes and reasoning for what they felt they had to do to

My Writing Of A College Level Writing Course
At the beginning of the term, I came into this class not feeling very confident about my writing. I
had taken writing classes in the past, but none to the extent of a college level writing course. One
of the skills that I found I lacked the most was my vocabulary. While my writing structure was
often not a problem my writingdid not sound as sophisticated as it could be. I occasionally used a
thesaurus but this would often cause problems as sometimes the words would not quite agree
with the meaning of my sentence. Throughout the term the one thing that helped me the most
with this problem were the workshops. As my peers corrected my paper they helped me to come
up with more intelligent words to get my point across to the reader. I believe that without the
inclusion of these workshops my essays would not have been as cleanly written. For upcoming
classes one aspect of writing that I would like to focus on is my ability to stay on topic. A lot of
the time I tend to become so engulfed in one reasoning for my argument that my mind begins to
wander elsewhere. Ultimately my essaystructure will suffer because of this, so in order to stay
more focused I want to start making outlines before I write out my essays. With an outline it will
be easier for me to stay on topic since I will have a structure to follow. Also by having an outline I
can find my quotes and compose my topic sentences ahead of time, making it easier for me to see if
my ideas will fit well together. This will also

Allende based his campaign around the unfairness of Chile s society to the working class, and the
Yarur factory gave him the support he needed to win the election. Once Allende becomes elected,
the two revolutions which were supposed to compliment each other actually start to work against
each other. The first type of revolution is the revolution from below , which is characteristic of
the workers in the Yarur rebelling against the Chilean government. The other type is the
revolution from above , this was the revolution common of the higher class like Allende working
towards workers rights. At first, the workers think that their revolution from below was only
helping Allende s revolution from above. The workers did things like form unions for the first
time, or were even so bold to strike against the mill in order to gain complete control over it.
Strikes had happened before which were about things like wages or unions, but this was different
for the fact that they wanted total control of the mill. Allende was forced to give the workers the
power to control the mill. This is just one of the examples of how the revolution from below
sometimes coincided with or complemented, but increasingly diverged from, the legalistic and
modulated revolution from above (141). For the most part in fact, the strategies of Allende were

Rise And Fall Of The League Of Nations
The League of Nations was an intergovernmental organisation founded on January 10, 1920 as a
result of the Paris Peace Conference that ended the First World War. It was the first international
organization whose principal mission was to maintain world peace. Its primary goals, as stated in
its Covenant, included preventing wars through collective security and disarmament and settling
international disputes through negotiation and arbitration. Other issues in this and related treaties
included labour conditions, just treatment of the native inhabitants, human and drug trafficking,
arms trade, global health, prisoners of war, and the protection of minorities in Europe At its
greatest extent from 28 September 1934 to 23 February, 1935, it had 58 members.( Great Events of
the 20th Century ).
The diplomatic philosophy behind the League represented a fundamental shift from the preceding
hundred years. The League lacked its own armed force and depended on the great powers to
enforce its resolutions, keep to its economic sanctions, or provide an army when needed. However,
the Great Powers were often reluctant to do so. Sanctions could hurt League members, so they were
reluctant to comply with them.during the Second Italo Abyssinian war

Critically analyzing of visual media artifact investigates visual culture. An analysis entails image
interpretation of image equally applicable to genres of photographs as form of advertisement. In
this paper, I will critically examine photographs. According to Barrett (2011) he suggested that critic
starts with description that involves developing a list of facts concerning the subject matter within

Market-Oriented Approaches to Firms
Market Oriented Approaches to Firms
As world markets become globalized, heightened competition and uncertain economic and social
environments pose significant new challenges for firms. It is important for firms to develop
management systems that have the capability to react quickly to change and that promote
innovation. Competitive advantage lies with those firms that have adapted to become learning
organizations with the capacity to constantly monitor external environments to swiftly respond to
change (Kauppila et.al, 2011). Today s most successful firms favor information and knowledge,
function under less hierarchy and value team production over the management systems of the past
era of mass production (Calerio, 2008). Those systems relied on top down direction, which greatly
limited agility in decision making. Today, global markets demand greater flexibility and on the spot
decision making. The answer then becomes access to relevant information the more knowledge the
firm has, the more capable it becomes in regards to outpacing competitors.
Firms today can benefit greatly from market orientations. This allows for greater flexibility in
generating and integrating crucial information into the business. Internal structures and systems
that have the ability to process knowledge from external boundaries can positively influence
internal responses to marketplace changes and requirements, dramatically improving the ability of
the organization to learn and adapt (Malmgren,

Surviving Female Gender Roles What defines being feminine will vary with each culture, but two
archetypes: passive homemaker and liberal feminist have existed for centuries as one will see in
two Japanese stories written in the 17th century. In The Love Suicides at Amijima, readers see the
social chains that bind a submissive womanto her societal duties. On the other hand, in Tales of
Sensuous Women, readers are shown a complete opposite archetype where women find ways to

Readers of The Love Suicides at Amijima would not be able to see multi faceted female characters
as these in Life of a Sensuous Woman. Readers would only see female characters who blindly
support the endeavors of the men in their lives. The women in Tales of Sensuous Women are less
confined by circumstance but 17th century Japanese people would have preferred the obedient and
submissive female as opposed to one who had a mind of her own. The feminist movement that
guaranteed a female s civil rights through law has increased the number of rights given to them. In
the 21st century, society believes that a female who fits the homemaker archetype should be more
adventurous while a female who fits the liberated, free loving archetype should be more restrained.
Society accepts from women, a balance between the two archetypes which brings up the question of
how social norms or gender roles are created and who enforces these roles. Does Koharu and
Osan s passiveness stem from physical weakness or were they brought up in a way that made them

Hippolytus vs. Pentheus Essay
Hippolytus vs. Pentheus
When arguing the statement, the character of Pentheus in the Bacchae is portrayed as earning his
fate, whereas the character of Hippolytus in the Hippolytus is portrayed as an innocent victim of
the god, I must both, agree and disagree with it. I would definitely agree with it on a shallow
point of view, but would have to disagree with it upon dissecting both the stories. The stories tell of
Hippolytus being killed for something he did not do, while Pentheus was killed for not accepting
the god Dionysus. But when you look deep into the meaning of each story, the apparent black and
white assumptions of innocents and guilt change from definitive to doubt to say the least.

Further along in the story, he ends up blaming Zeus for creating women and he also blames him
after finding out about Phaedra s feelings; which seems to me that he was even blaming Zeus for
making her become infatuated with him. The infatuation was Aphrodite s doing for lack of
worship, not Zeus . So even though Hippolytus did not sin toward Phaedra, he ends up sinning
toward Zeus, by questioning his putting of women on the earth and blaming him for something he
had no part in, and to Aphrodite by not giving her the respect she thought she deserved.
Then if read shallowly, the Bacchae also seems to be black and white, in the fact that the story tells
of Pentheus earning his fate. The first step would be when strange things started to happen and the
arrest of the stranger, Dionysus. Next, and the most important step in him earning his fate would be
that Pentheus rejects the belief of Dionysus. Later on, more strange things happen, namely miracles
and now Pentheus and Dionysus meet again, this time Pentheus is unable to reject him and starts
to fall under his spell. They then meet for a final time and now Dionysus is in total control and
humiliates Pentheus. When the chorus sees this, they invoke the Swift hounds of Frenzy to bring

These examples show both the author s and the protagonist s challenge to the order of things and
the complete belief the character has. The best example of this is on line eight when the king says
that he shall not give you the boat the man replies with calm assurance you will .
If the conflict between the man and the order encompasses the first half of the story, then the
second half tells of love and the relationship between the man and the cleaning lady. It begins on
page three line thirty one she had just then decided to follow the man it shows that the belief of
the man and his success in claiming the boat from the king had stirred the woman into following
him. The story builds on their relationship on page six line ten as the woman starts to think of the
man in a very homely way having cleaned the boat while the man was gone looking for a crew
she worries about the provisions on board the boat as the man will turn up saying he s hungry,
which is what all men say the minute they get home appropriately describing the boat as their

how destiny tends to behave. It is right behind us, it has already stretched out its hand to touch us

A Philosophical Point Of View Essay
Ethics in a philosophical point of view allows humans to fully understand the importance of
morality in a society. Throughout history, numerous philosophers have had their own sense of
morality. For instance, Thomas Hobbs considered morality as simply as a social contract between
cultures through the establishment of laws, however others like Immanuel Kant saw it as an
internal duty that all humans unconsciously share and owe each other. Most people must side with
one spectrum of a topic than the other to determine an action is moral. Topics such as abortion, war,
marriage etc... have infiltrated modern liberal s conversations. I will write this paper about abortion
and, to support my opinion, I will first compare the arguments previously made by four well known
philosophers: Mary Ann Warren, Patrick Lee, Robert P. George, and Judith Jarvis Thomson. After
partaking on whichever side, I will then apply a specific ethical theory that will help explain what
influenced my decision, then cover any possible objections and finish with any current
improvements being made to appease the tension from the topic. Abortion is the deliberate
termination of a humanpregnancy. For such a heartfelt topic, it needs has been a practice since the

Symptoms Of A Foodborne Illness
A foodborne illness is an infection or poisoning caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites, or
chemicals whose mode of transmission is by food. A foodborne outbreak is an illness event that
typically includes two or more people infected from the same food.1 Causative agent: Norovirus.
Reported to CDC were three norovirusoutbreaks of acute gastroenteritis(AGE) that occurred on
college campuses in California, Michigan, and Wisconsin during fall 2008. College campuses are
at particularly high risk for norovirus outbreaks because of the large volume of students living in
small, crowded dormitories.2
Pathophysiology of Noroviruses: Noroviruses are a group of nonenveloped, single stranded,
RNA viruses categorized into the genus Norovirus of the family Caliciviridae. 3 Noroviruses can
be divided into at least five genogroups, GI GV; since 2001, GII.4 viruses have been linked with
the bulk of viral gastroenteritis outbreaks worldwide. 3 The virus replicates in the small intestine.
Even when symptoms might be severe, they most likely cease without treatment after 1 3 days in
normally healthy persons after a 12 48 hour incubation period.3 The virion RNA is contagious and
serves as both genome and viral messenger RNA. The enzyme cysteine proteinase catalyzes the
cleavage of ORF1 polyprotein which yields the mature nonstructural proteins. 4 Norovirus is

although society believes that men are superior. Janie is first married off to Logan Killicks, who
treats her like a child. He expects her to listen and obey to his desires without hesitation or
complaint. This is desecrating to Janie s dream. Instead of pushing her along the path of self
reliance, Logan... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Joe marries her so he can have a pretty wife by his side who he can demonstrate his superiority
over. As the single most powerful man in Eatonville, the town that he took initiative of, he
expects his wife to present herself as above everyone else. This means she can t participate in
regular talk with the people of the town, and she has to obey Joe s commands because she is his
property. However, towards the end of Joe s life, Janie publicly rants her true feelings to Joe.
This decision shows her growth towards self realization. She defends herself against Joe s insults
of her being old. Janie finally acts out, expressing her feelings towards Joe s unfair treatment to
her. Her strength in acting for herself begins to emerge once she forces Joe to listen to her feelings
of their marriage. This is evident when she tears off her handkerchief and lets down her hair. This
is symbolic of her freedom. Joe forced her to tie up her hair for his sake, but now releasing it, Janie
shows that she will no longer let other people control

Disadvantages Of Food Dyes
Introduction Color additives are added to almost everything, from toothpaste to medicines. They
are also added to food and drink to make it appear more appealing to consumers. However, when
used improperly, food dyes can be dangerous. As a result, the use of color additives is highly
regulated by the FDA the Food and Drug Administration in the Unites States.1 Food dyes are
controlled so harshly because their structure is similar to that of some of the bases found in human
DNA, and the dye could possibly cause a change a DNA base pair. A mutation is a change in a
small part of the DNA sequence of a cell which can then replicate, spreading the mutation.
Mutations often lead to various diseases such as cancer. 2 The FDA will only approve the use of a
coloradditive if they are certain beyond a reasonable doubt that the dye is safe, but the safety of
the dye can never be proven entirely. For example, the dye yellow5 is used in food, cosmetics, and
medicines.3 However, some people will have an allergic reaction to this product despite it being
deemed safe to use. For this reason, the FDA also requires that any companies using a color
additive in their products must list it on the label so that people sensitive to the substance can avoid
it. 1
Despite any potential health concerns people may have, food dyes play an important role in the
consumer market place. Buyers expect certain things out of their food. For example, it stands to
reason that a grape flavored beverage is purple

The Sitcom, Everybody Loves Raymond
In the sitcom, Everybody Loves Raymond, airing on CBS in the late 90 s and early 2000 s we
see an nuclear white family with two parents, two kids, grandparents, and a set of other relatives.
The target audience appears to be within the age of 18 35 for this time period in comparison to
other shows such as Frazier or Will and Grace. The familyis very middle class oriented as far as the
home, clothing, and jobs of the characters go. They live in the suburbs and are never too hurt for
money. Playing into this story also comes the subtle humor and remarks at sexual acts that happen
very often throughout each scene. However, you never actually see these sexual acts take place and
there is no point of uncomfortable actions throughout this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The resolution comes when the drama is settled and all family members are satisfied with the
solution. In direct correlation with the text that states, the action is set in motion when minor
conflict situations flare up and heightened verbally through deceit or insults, Everybody Loves
Raymond is a prime example of a comedy formula (Potter, 205).
The patterns of Everybody Loves Raymond are ultimately formulaic for the 90 s. Families are
nucleic and typical of the 90 s middle class working white population. There is a mom who stays
at home and does all of the house work and takes care of the kids, while the father is aloof of all
of the housework and children but works most of the day and is the sole source of income. Both
parents are alive and a constant source of conflict as they (especially the grandmother and mother,
as women are often portrayed as catty) are present and cause embarrassment. The children are
hardly the center of attention at all plot wise. Most plots are surrounding the conflict between
family members, especially disagreements between the husband and wife and between the mother
in law and the wife. There are rarely any African Americans, even though the show takes place in
Long Island, which has a high African American population, even back when the show was being
made. Other ethnicity are hardly ever

Essay Marriot vs Hyatt
Mission, Vision, Social Responsibility, Strategic Planning: Marriott and Hyatt
Lori Scholl
University of Maryland, University College
Business Management 364, Section 4015
May 24, 2012
I. Mission and Vision Statements Mission Statement Organizing the direction of a business or
corporation is essential because it can increase profitability and provide broad guidelines for how
to accomplish the organization goals. This is where a mission statement becomes useful. A mission
statement should be short, concise, and to the point. Employees should be able to remember it and
make it part of their everyday work culture. Marriott and Hyatt are two of the largest hospitality
providers in the world. Marriott has over 3,700 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ultimately, Hyatt and Marriott do not seem to be heading in the same direction, and due to the
differences in the size of their current business portfolios, it is realistic. II. Social Responsibility
Activities In the business world, social responsibility refers to accountability. There is the
accountability of the company to itself, and to the communities where they have a presence.
Especially when a business is as large and far reaching as Marriott, they have a responsibility to
give back and help to improve society. It is also believed that by engaging in socially responsible
activities, the company will improve its image and increase profit. Marriott has done a great job of
participating in a diversified collection of charitable initiatives, events, and organizations. Their
main area of focus has been the environment because that is where their business has the most
impact. They have given and raised money for the preservation of 1.4 million acres of rainforest in
the Juma Reserve in Brazil, glad to aid in the conservation effort that can save species and improve
the global climate (http://www.marriott.com). Additionally, Marriot launched Nobility of Nature, a
$500,000 commitment to help protect the source of fresh water for more than 2 million people in
Asia (http://www.marriott.com). In addition to their external practices, Marriot is concerned about
the effect their businesses have on the environment and for this reason

Lethal Anti Cancer Drugs And The Treatment Of Treatment
Chemotherapy is employed as part of a multimodal approach to the treatment of many tumors
(Copra, 2016, pp.1). During the process of chemotherapy very potent anti cancer drugs are used to
interfere with the cancer cells ability to produce new DNA. There are approximately fifty different
forms of chemotherapythat can be intermixed to provide the most efficient treatment of the cancer
cells. They can receive chemotherapy medication orally or through an IV. If an IV is used, the
patients are physically stuck with a needle during treatment, but due to the repetitive sticks, the
veins cannot withstand that process for any length of time. In those cases, the patient can choose to

By taking other medications for nausea and low blood count, it can minimize many of the side
effects caused by the chemotherapy. Even with the alternative medications, the patient may still
suffer from the side effects. The long term side effects are, but not limited to, the development of
other cancers, or permanent damage many vital organs such as the lungs and kidneys within the
body. Finding ways to combat the damage from long term cellular damage can be impossible.
(Chopra, 2016; Schulmeister, 2014) Studies have shown that females will tend to have a higher
rate of adverse reactions with the use of chemotherapy over males. Over fifty one percent of
adverse reactions are listed as not preventable, forty two percent as probably avoidable, and only a
mere seven percent are listed as preventable. With advancements in chemotherapy growing, so do
the adverse reactions. The drugs are becoming more intense, and they offer a higher success rate
with a lower risk of re occurrence. The unfortunate side is the greater adverse reactions, such as
nausea/vomiting, anemia, alopecia, constipation/ diarrhea, and fatigue. (Chopra, 2016;
Schulmeister, 2014)

Website Comparison
Introduction I have chosen two of the biggest broadband and telecommunication companies in
Ireland for this website comparison. O2 and Vodafone are both leading distributors of mobile
services for individuals and corporate clients providing them with solutions in communications.
They are the two biggest competitors in the mobile networking industry in Ireland constituting for
88% of the total market. This market percentage is split between Vodafone and O2, 48% and 40%
respectively.
I have chosen these two websites for comparison for a number of reasons. I have been a frequent
user of both sites, and am interested in the industry. The main reason however I selected these
websites is due to the substantial differences in theme and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

On the shop page the user will be given 4 options to browse shop by phone, browse by plan,
purchase SIM only, or to go the O2 broadband section. Underneath these options again are more
offers specifying O2 s current most popular deals. The most popular deals have clearly labelled
prices on all of the phones. Browsing through the shop is easy, and informative. The main
specifications and advantages of each product are clearly placed beside a picture of that product
and the price is also clearly labelled. If you actually select the phone the user is redirected to
another page which describes in depth specifications, main features and pricing plans. Some of the
specifications are interactive and offer a visual 3D experience where they can rotate the phone with
their mouse. This ensures that the user is confident with their purchase. In some cases, demos are
available to watch how the product operates. Overall the shop provides some great interactive
features and effectively utilises and takes advantage the capabilities of Adobe flash player.
One of the more interesting features of the O2 website is its partner websites. From navigating
through the webpage there are often sections with links to some of O2 s separate projects.
Examples of these are 02thinkbig.ie where the user is redirected to a section created to encourage
young innovators. The mission statement for the O2

Diamonds, The Embodiment Of Esteem And Romance
Diamonds, the embodiment of esteem and romance. Millions of years ago, high temperatures
and pressure in earth s mantle gave birth to a dazzling gem, a gem that would be loved and
adored by many people. It would be put on ornaments and crowns, become the center piece of
many jewelry, become the highest symbol of esteem, and even be compared to the stars. People
would spend entire paychecks, even a month s, or a year s worth of salary, on trying to acquire it.
And in today s world, it s even become the norm in expressing love. For men it s become a ritual,
to invest in the biggest diamondthey can afford, and put on the person they love. Looking at these
norms, you have to ask, why is it that we love diamonds so much? Why is it that people spend
thousands if not millions in trying to procure this shiny rock? Is it because it s just human nature to
love shiny things we can make ornaments out of? Or is there another reason for our astounding
love for it, a more malicious and covert reason, one that involves a masterful marketing campaign,
and human consumerism conditioning, to create a market where there isn t one. The latter,
unfortunately is more akin to reality than you would think. And for it to all make sense one would
have to look at the history of the consumer demand of diamonds, and their usage throughout their
long history.
Diamonds weren t always used as adornments or jewelry pieces and many believe, in fact since
ancient times to even the middle ages,

Compare And Contrast Hinduism And Christianity
In the world of billions of people how many of us are going to be the same? People will perceive
the world in their own way. One person may see the world perfect, while others see nothing but
the end. Is everyone going to be different? Not necessarily, many others will share the same
beliefs but that could mean more varieties will be created. Once one person believes a certain
path they may choose to believe in that belief or even believe living is the path to happiness.
However, one chooses to perceive their own world, they may or may not be right. Just like in
religionpeople follow their belief but what they choose may not be the honest path. Some have
common similarities but many differences as well. Hinduismand Christianity have many
resemblances between one another and how their Gods are, even with the view that they are
extremely different, especially in the way that Hinduism has many Gods compared to Christianity
and how they both reach salvation. There s much talking about religions and faith in the world
today. Everywhere people will find others that are indifferent about Godand faith, one will find
people that are obsessed with anti religion propaganda and others will find people that live their
lives according to what they believe and what they declare.
Religion is defined as a system of human thought which usually includes a set of narratives,
symbols, beliefs and practices that give meaning to the practitioner s experiences of life through

Comparing Skinny People Are Dull And Crunchy Like Carrots
As readers , one understands that many writers have their own styles. It varies from their sentence
structures to a writer s distinctive vocabulary choice. Mark Twain, famous writer from the late
1800s, brought a new voice into American writing an incomparable style. Another writer named
Suzanne Britt is well known for her two essay collections Skinny People Are Dull and Crunchy
Like Carrots (1982) and Show and Tell (1983). Both are recognized for their use of sarcasm and
humor. With these authors, their writinghas more distinctions than similarities. Though, the two are
amazing and emphasized writers, when it comes to diction, and their balance of sentences, they are
unalike.

Differences of Private and Public Language Essay Hanyong Na Michaela Vargas English 120 8669 7 October, 2012 Differences of Private and Public Language I remember to start with that day in Sacramento when I first entered a classroom, able to understand some fifty stray English words (Rodriguez 535). Richard Rodriguez, who is the author of the essay Private Language, Public Language , introduces how he was raised and lived as well as how he felt growing up in the States as an immigrant family. After reading the Rodriguez s essay, there are several points as well as the experiences that I was able to relate, perhaps because I share a similar background as the writer himself. Walking down the sidewalk, under the canopy of talk trees, I d warily notice the suddenly silent neighborhood kids who stood warily watching me (Rodriguez 537). Rodriguez was not the only one who did not have the confidence and felt comfortable in English. In public, my father and mother spoke hesitant, accented, not always grammatical English (Rodriguez 536). They were not ashamed of where they came from but because they were well aware of the fact that they did not sound like gringos. Their voice and the tones were lower compared to when they spoke in Spanish. I was unable to hear my own sounds, but I know very well that I spoke English poorly (Rodriguez 536). He was never too embarrassed about how his parents did not speak English fluently because they went about with their life very well and coped with their issues on their own. However, he could not hide the fact that he got nervous when he was at presence with his father. Hearing them, I d grow nervous, my clutching trust in their protection and power weakened (Rodriguez, 537). The very first chance that I got, I evaded his grasp and ran on ahead into the dark, skipping with feigned boyish exuberance (Rodriguez 537).On the other hand, the situation completely changes when his family is at home and being ... He traces it back to three hundred years. His father and his wife settled in Boston along with Franklin and his siblings. Although Franklin is identified as intelligent it was also known that he struggles in school(he is told he must take up a trade). He strongly disliked his father s trade and so he tried out a few others before being apprenticed to his brother James, a printer. He enjoys this trade and spends his leisure time perfecting his own writing. James and Franklin did not get along. So, Franklin and his friend John Collins run away to Philadelphia. There Franklin gets work with a printer, with whom he has a pleasant enough relationship. Sir William Keith(the Governor of the province) was impressed by Franklin s work, and offers to help Franklin convince his father that he should open his own shop. However, his father thinks he is too young and tells him he has to spend time working hard for his trade. Franklin agreeing because he had no other choice and hopes in the near future to have his own shop. In the meantime, he has a fallout with Collins. Franklin worries about paying back the money of his father s friend(Vernon), who had given it to Franklin for safekeeping. Bergen County is a very densely populated county, but I want to look closer, I want to look as a specific town within Bergen County; I want to take a look at the Borough of Fair Lawn. The Borough of Fair Lawn in 2011 estimated to have a population of 32,669 people. According to New York Times, municipal officials estimate that they make up 33 to 40 percent of the population, and of the 21 houses of worship 8 of them are synagogues. But this is not why I am writing this paper, I wanted to look deeper into the community due to the fact that the borough of Fair Lawn has made it a point to accommodate the Jewish community but with the growth of the town has not changed its ways to accommodate all of the other religion that now... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of this, unlike most of the surrounding towns, the Fair Lawn school system has a number of Jewish holidays off. On many occasions due to weather, those who celebrate other holidays, such as Good Friday, needed permission from all teachers to have the day off from school. This permission was only granted when the students grades where above specific letter grade, if they had less then 7 absent days, and if all teachers agreed to sign the permission sheet; therefore your ability to celebrate the holiday would be in your teachers hands. The town has created such a large bond with its Jewish community, that some other religions needs have the ability to be easily be forgotten. The town has created a very large bond with the Jewish community that in order to accommodate those of the Jewish religion who attend Sabbath on Saturday s, the town strung wire between telephone poles to surround nearly all of the borough in what in Hebrew is called an eruv, an enclosure in which Orthodox Jews are allowed to use baby carriages and carry objects like keys, canes and eyeglasses on the Sabbath. Speech Language Pathology Intervention Paper Introduction: In the field of speech language pathology parent education and involvement in treatment programs can be very beneficial to a client s progress(TEMPEL). Evidence supports the use of programs that contain interactive approaches to speech and language intervention(LORRAINE). The importance of education is often recognized but can be difficult to deliver. The challenge of providing an effective parent/ caregiver education is an issue that Speech Language Pthologists may come in contact with. While some speech language pathologists may choose to deliver parent education using their own methodology , a large number may opt to participate in teaching methodology and coaching framework model workshops. Access to these vast deposits is helping to significantly decrease the United States reliance on foreign energy, as we have recently become the largest natural gasproducer worldwide ( Hydraulic Fracturing Natural Gas and Oil Development ). In addition to abundance, natural gas has several other benefits as well. Natural gas emits only half as much carbon dioxide when burned than coal does, and currently the cost per unit is only one third that of oil, giving it some clear advantages over other widely used fossil fuels (Harvey, Hal). As stated by chairman of BP Capital T. Boone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many of the additives on this list are known toxins, carcinogens, and volatile organic compounds that are recognized for their ability to cause harm in the human body (Lustgarten, Abraham). Colborn and her co authors went a step further to evaluate every chemical on the list in terms of health effects, and the results were alarming. Although the effects were detrimental across the board, Colborn found 71 chemicals that were associated with causing harm in 10 or more areas, including the central nervous system, cardiovascular system, and reproductive systems. What is even more concerning is that companies find a way to justify their use of harmful substances by claiming that they make up only a small fraction of the injected fluid; less than one percent. However, experts like Colborn believe that even a seemingly small percentage translates to tens of thousands of gallons of these chemicals being pumped underground, and their research shows that even very low doses of the compounds can cause significant damage (Lustgarten, Abraham). One of the most prominent concerns regarding the toxicity of chemical additives lies in the threat of groundwater contamination. This obstinance is best described in one time when I felt very strongly about horses. My familyand I had horses for many years, and so did some of our friends. The Japanese economic miracle is built on licensing as Japan develops dominance in consumer electronics, optics and other fields. It is noted that Japan s strategy of extensive licensing allowed it to jump start the country rebuilding and, in the case of consumer electronics, to dominate worldwide markets with its innovations. The pharmaceutical industry was the first industry to make use of systematic licensing to speed up product development and also to capture existing market. Licensing generate a lot of revenue. Say for example, about 90 percent of the $160 million a year in sales at Calvin Klein Inc. comes from licensing the designer s name to makers of underwear, jeans and perfume. The only merchandise the New York based company makes itself, in fact, is its women s apparel line.. IBM, after energizing its efforts to license its thousands of technology patents a few years ago, now attributes $1 billion a year of its corporate sales to licensing.. Thus Licensing deals can be seen in ancient time and it still continues to leave its marks and with evolving time the importance of having a fair knowledge of license and licensing is becoming even more felt. The First Industrial Revolution can go back to the 1790s, and is very interesting that how it was caused by a whole set of social and economic factors. Before the first industrial revolution, the economic surplus was almost zero and agriculture was the basic economic activity where populations were not even given a single opportunity to enjoy the benefits of higher living standards. The First Industrial Revolution was occurred in England between 1750 and 1850 where the transformation of Britain from a Neolithic nation into an industrious nation was seen. It came as an urgent and unexpected response to the rapid growth of population, introduction of many different laws England, and an increase in food production (Hooker, 1996). It spread very quickly throughout the world, introducing the modernization of agriculture and manufacturing of textile. The first revolution mainly focused on the production of new textile machinery, iron manufacturing, improved methods of coal production and various agriculture techniques. New laws made peasants to leave their lands and move to the cities increasing urban population. This also led to the redistribution of income opportunities. • 12. West Nile Virus Vaccine Analysis The most sophisticated way may be to avoid the mosquitos altogether. According to the World Health Organization More than a handful governments and pharmaceutical companies are working on a vaccine for Zika. Some are hunting old fashioned vaccines, like the ones used to protect from measles and chicken pox; these vaccines stimulate the body s immune response by exposing it to a faded version of the virus or just simply to the molecules from a virus that cause the body to produce antibodies. The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) mentioned that by following the blueprint used to create a vaccinefor the mosquito borne West Nile virus would be a cheaper and faster way around it. That technique relies on injecting DNAparticles normally found inside the cells of a bacteria that are separated from a cell s DNA and can duplicate by itself. DNA molecules (plasmids) have the advantage of carrying the DNA code for their virus antigens, without being contagious, therefore stimulating the body s autoimmune response. So far, the plasmid based West Nile virus vaccine was successful in its early experimental tests.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These agents ensure patient comfort and may have sedating properties. In some cases, systemic analgesics are helpful before ear cleaning or wick placement (27,20). Oral and intravenous antibiotics Most persons with OE do not require oral medications. Treatment of the abscess is often accomplished by means of a simple incision and drainage procedure using a needle or a small blade. Patients must be monitored to ensure complete resolution of OE. Even in mild cases, follow up is important for evaluating the response to treatment. A follow up visit 1 week after starting treatment is usually adequate (3). (d) Prognosis Most incidents of OE resolve without difficulty. The majority of patients improve within 48 72 hours of antibiotic administration. Failure to improve within 2 3 days should call the diagnosis into question and prompt the physician to reevaluate the patient. Otitis externa usually resolves fully in 7 10 days (3). Pain usually improves 2 5 days after initiating therapy (27). Temporary hearing loss is common secondary to canal occlusion. • 14. The Mall Of New Jersey This first time I remember walking through the mall in New Jersey I was a little girl holding my mother s hand. This mall is a dismal place, with one level and one major department store on each end. The elongated brown brick walls made me feel like I am walking into a dungeon, into the land of the abyss. It was not a joyous place for a child to visit. On one occasion, my mother brought me an ice cream cone and with one lick it was on the floor. I never saw my mother so mad before; she picked up the ice cream and demanded I receive another one. Little did I know that this dark dreary space was going was my future place of employment. The mall was not a place I hung out at as a teenager, first, it was too far and second we had a downtown to shop. While I was away at school they remodeled the mall and expanded the space into a mega palace to include four levels of bright lights, white walls, shining floors, glass elevator and a skylight. The mall added a movie theater, bookstore, hair salons, restaurants, food court, computer stores, post office, and fitness center, just to name a few minor changes. I was speechless, walking around the same mall as I did as a child with amazing like Charlie in the Chocolate Factory. • 15. Sisyphus Taylor finds the meaning of life in the inner compulsion to be doing just what we were put here to do, and to go on doing it forever. The way Richard phrased his argument is perplexed and quite ambiguous. It may well be, that Taylor was inattentive with his formulation and all he meant to say was that a life is meaningful if the one who lives it can do what is in their nature to do, and pursue the goals that their nature calls for. Would we then be able to conclude that it is in Sisyphus s nature to ram rocks up hills and finds fulfillment in his eternal labor. Fulfilment, only makes our lives meaningful if it is a fitting fulfilment. The problem is that we may not always exactly know which activities merit our love. In the case of Sisyphus,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is also stated that no action or project really gives life it s absolute meaning. In both cases, the seemingly endless nightmare of eternal and pointless activity has now been overridden with the scorching Hell of eternal absence. According to Taylor, humanity feels the deep need to have a destiny, to fulfill an inner compulsion to be doing just what we were put here to do. This idea is what makes life so meaningful. The meaning is in the passion of doing of things, not necessarily in what that doing leads to. As Taylor stated, The meaning of lifeis from within us, it is not bestowed from without, and it far exceeds in both beauty and permanence any heaven of which men have ever dreamed or yearned for (484). The point of living is simply to be living whether that s doing what one loves to do or simply getting through every day. While agreeing with Taylor, I must add that instead of asking whether life has been good for a certain person, we should be asking whether it has been admirable or if it has been something to proud of. To summarize, we give meaning to our lives by the active engagement our wills have in our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The next step in the methodology is process setting, in which the actual process mean is brought as close as possible to the optimal value determined earlier. Once the process setting is completed, manufacture of the components can begin. They are too young to have true love, instead it is just based off looks. If they are older they might understand what love really is. Since they are young and immature they rush into decisions they make. They also take drastic measures in the decisions and how to handle themselves. They are young and immature, and this is why their story ends the way it does, in complete tragedy. Romeo loves with his eyes, but he does not love with his heart. He is too immature to stay true to one girl if there is another girl that is more beautiful. When Romeo tells Friar Laurence . . . but this i pray, / That thou consent to marry us today Friar knows it is very immature, but only does it to possibly end the feud between the families (II, iii, 63 64). If they would just wait to find a good time to maybe talk to their parents about it, that would be the mature thing to do. Romeo also has immaturity not in love, but in revenge. After Tybalt kills Mercutio, Romeo immaturely goes and gets Tybalt. Most of us would do this, but it is still immature. Romeo should just wait for the Prince to give Tybalt his punishment and everything would be fine. Instead Romeo goes and kills Tybalt, and puts his own life in jeopardy. Once Monsanto suspect farmers of their misuse of seeds, they sent detectives to watch farmers and take videos of them. This will mentally ruin farmers. Monsanto contradict themselves because they insist the crop has no difference form conventional natural varieties, but when it comes to patent, they say its completely different and they are in patent. A significant number of research casts doubt on Monsanto s argument. For example, a rat feeding research observed that after the consumption of Bt corn, rats showed slight but dose related significant variations in growth for both sexes, resulting in 3.3% decrease in weight for males and 3.7% increase for females. It also caused malfunction of kidney and females s pregnancy. We simply invite musicians to play, we invite people to listen, and we invite people to create art. Again, this is attainable. However, there is one aspect of the DIY Project that may be unattainable: a alcohol/drug free venue. Unfortunately, some people enjoy sneaking such substances into venues. For this reason, we will publically exhibit our disdain for drugs and alcohol in the venue: it ruins the experience for too many people (speaking from prior knowledge). Also, there must be staff that watches for drug and alcohol usage. This, in the end, may only allow for substance usage to become lower than most venues. • 22. Fair Trade Market Research Assignment Fair Trade Research Assignment What is Fair Trade? Fair Trade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices, Fair Trade addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, weakest producers. It enables them to improve their position and have more control over their lives. Fair Trade also ensures that the products being purchased have been grown or created under a hygienic and safe environment. Today, more than six million farmers, producers and growers benefit from the unique Fair Trade system. This scheme provides the farmers and producers with a fair price for the produce helping them to sustain a suitable living. They also receive an additional sum, also known as the Fair Trade Premium, which can be used for social, economic and environmental development in their communities. The developments can include improvements in medical and educational facilities. Fairtrade also prohibits the use of the child labour system. (Fairtrade, 2015) Why was Fair Trade developed? The Fair Trade system s initial purpose is so that farmers in less developed countries earn a higher sustainable price. Sticking to the Fair Trade guidelines means that the farmers receive a better price for their crop and they stand a better chance to make a living. How did contemporary psychodynamic theory develop and expand upon those ideas? Who were the key players? Theories The traditional psychodynamic theories of personality were introduced to us through Sigmund Freud , Carl Jung, and Alfred Alder. From there many other great minds were able to build upon the framework of the ideas of those who had gone before them. Most notably was Melanie Klein, Karen Horney, Eric Fromm, and Erik Erikson. • 28. Characterism In Our Twisted Hero By Yi Munyol As autumn approaches, and leaves cascade to the ground as if they re Joffrey ballerinas, trees become a significant symbol of this season and life with their oxygen that fills our lungs. Nevertheless, the entanglement of their arms and height encourage an idea of fright and intimidation, making trees one of the many twisted structures that allows people to function and prosper in existence. Merriam Webster defines the crooked word of twisted as mentally or emotionally unsound or disturbed, giving synonyms like sick and cruel minded. Merriam Webster also explains the idea of a hero as a person admired for achievements and noble qualities, and/or one who shows great courage. While agreeing with these denotations, twisted can have several different interpretations based on a person s perspective. Factors that may change a person s views on who or what is twisted are often his or her ideology, culture, religion, social outlook, and other orientations. As witnessed in Our Twisted Heroby Yi Munyol, there are several characters who could fit the twisted or hero role. For example, some could see Han as apt for the hero by putting the thought of combatting Om initially in the minds of his peers, or the new teacher could be viewed as the hero with his fight to demolish Om s destructive power in the classroom. Market-Oriented Approaches to Firms Market Oriented Approaches to Firms As world markets become globalized, heightened competition and uncertain economic and social environments pose significant new challenges for firms. It is important for firms to develop management systems that have the capability to react quickly to change and that promote innovation. Competitive advantage lies with those firms that have adapted to become learning organizations with the capacity to constantly monitor external environments to swiftly respond to change (Kauppila et.al, 2011). Today s most successful firms favor information and knowledge, function under less hierarchy and value team production over the management systems of the past era of mass production (Calerio, 2008). Those systems relied on top down direction, which greatly limited agility in decision making. Today, global markets demand greater flexibility and on the spot decision making. The answer then becomes access to relevant information the more knowledge the firm has, the more capable it becomes in regards to outpacing competitors. Firms today can benefit greatly from market orientations. This allows for greater flexibility in generating and integrating crucial information into the business. Internal structures and systems that have the ability to process knowledge from external boundaries can positively influence internal responses to marketplace changes and requirements, dramatically improving the ability of the organization to learn and adapt (Malmgren, ... The stories tell of Hippolytus being killed for something he did not do, while Pentheus was killed for not accepting the god Dionysus. So even though Hippolytus did not sin toward Phaedra, he ends up sinning toward Zeus, by questioning his putting of women on the earth and blaming him for something he had no part in, and to Aphrodite by not giving her the respect she thought she deserved. The first step would be when strange things started to happen and the arrest of the stranger, Dionysus. Next, and the most important step in him earning his fate would be that Pentheus rejects the belief of Dionysus. The advertisement uses appeals to logos, ethos, and pathos to encourage people to visit and stay at Old Sturbridge Village. The appeal to logos is not as apparent as the others in the advertisement with only few supporting elements, describing their size and services. • 40. A Philosophical Point Of View Essay Ethics in a philosophical point of view allows humans to fully understand the importance of morality in a society. Throughout history, numerous philosophers have had their own sense of morality. For instance, Thomas Hobbs considered morality as simply as a social contract between cultures through the establishment of laws, however others like Immanuel Kant saw it as an internal duty that all humans unconsciously share and owe each other. Most people must side with one spectrum of a topic than the other to determine an action is moral. Topics such as abortion, war, marriage etc... have infiltrated modern liberal s conversations. I will write this paper about abortion and, to support my opinion, I will first compare the arguments previously made by four well known philosophers: Mary Ann Warren, Patrick Lee, Robert P. George, and Judith Jarvis Thomson. After partaking on whichever side, I will then apply a specific ethical theory that will help explain what influenced my decision, then cover any possible objections and finish with any current improvements being made to appease the tension from the topic. Abortion is the deliberate termination of a humanpregnancy. For such a heartfelt topic, it needs has been a practice since the ancient times They always contradict with the people that consider themselves traditional. Abortion as most people know, can be a difficult topic to speak of. It contains the preservation of human life against the choice of protecting one s body and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even when symptoms might be severe, they most likely cease without treatment after 1 3 days in normally healthy persons after a 12 48 hour incubation period.3 The virion RNA is contagious and serves as both genome and viral messenger RNA. • 43. Disadvantages Of Food Dyes Introduction Color additives are added to almost everything, from toothpaste to medicines. They are also added to food and drink to make it appear more appealing to consumers. However, when used improperly, food dyes can be dangerous. As a result, the use of color additives is highly regulated by the FDA the Food and Drug Administration in the Unites States.1 Food dyes are controlled so harshly because their structure is similar to that of some of the bases found in human DNA, and the dye could possibly cause a change a DNA base pair. A mutation is a change in a small part of the DNA sequence of a cell which can then replicate, spreading the mutation. Mutations often lead to various diseases such as cancer. 2 The FDA will only approve the use of a coloradditive if they are certain beyond a reasonable doubt that the dye is safe, but the safety of the dye can never be proven entirely. For example, the dye yellow5 is used in food, cosmetics, and medicines.3 However, some people will have an allergic reaction to this product despite it being deemed safe to use. For this reason, the FDA also requires that any companies using a color additive in their products must list it on the label so that people sensitive to the substance can avoid it. 1 Despite any potential health concerns people may have, food dyes play an important role in the consumer market place. Buyers expect certain things out of their food. For example, it stands to reason that a grape flavored beverage is purple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In direct correlation with the text that states, the action is set in motion when minor conflict situations flare up and heightened verbally through deceit or insults, Everybody Loves Raymond is a prime example of a comedy formula (Potter, 205). The patterns of Everybody Loves Raymond are ultimately formulaic for the 90 s. Families are nucleic and typical of the 90 s middle class working white population. There is a mom who stays at home and does all of the house work and takes care of the kids, while the father is aloof of all of the housework and children but works most of the day and is the sole source of income. Both parents are alive and a constant source of conflict as they (especially the grandmother and mother, as women are often portrayed as catty) are present and cause embarrassment. Millions of years ago, high temperatures and pressure in earth s mantle gave birth to a dazzling gem, a gem that would be loved and adored by many people. It would be put on ornaments and crowns, become the center piece of many jewelry, become the highest symbol of esteem, and even be compared to the stars. People would spend entire paychecks, even a month s, or a year s worth of salary, on trying to acquire it. And in today s world, it s even become the norm in expressing love. For men it s become a ritual, to invest in the biggest diamondthey can afford, and put on the person they love. Looking at these norms, you have to ask, why is it that we love diamonds so much? Why is it that people spend thousands if not millions in trying to procure this shiny rock? Is it because it s just human nature to love shiny things we can make ornaments out of? Or is there another reason for our astounding love for it, a more malicious and covert reason, one that involves a masterful marketing campaign, and human consumerism conditioning, to create a market where there isn t one. The latter, unfortunately is more akin to reality than you would think. And for it to all make sense one would have to look at the history of the consumer demand of diamonds, and their usage throughout their long history.
