Molecule X s Effect On Caudal Axons
Background
Precise control over the routes taken by growing neurons is tightly controlled (Steward, 1989). In
the brain extracellular cues play an important part prompting attractive or repulsive behaviours in
cell migration. In addition, they are necessary for cell adhesion, axon guidance and branching
(Erskine Herrera, 2007). For neurons that navigate over long distances, axons can be guided by
chemoattractants that draw axonal navigation in its direction or chemorepellents that deter axonal
growth in its region.
Hypothesis
Molecule X acts specifically on caudal axons as a chemotropic substance that directs them to
innervate the rostral tectum.
Experiment
As instructed by Rosoff et al (2009) a pipette assay may be suitable to perform. ... Show more

Providing convection currents are carefully controlled a relatively stable gradient can be
established by diffusion from the pipette. The response of the axon to this gradient is then examined
over timescales of about 1 h. Furthermore, this test could be repeated using the mutant axons.
Possible Outcomes
The first possibility could be that axons grow towards Molecule X. This would support our
hypothesis that Molecule X is an attractant that may be present in the rostral tectum.
Conversely, the failure of axons to grow towards Molecule x may not support our hypothesis.
Furthermore, axon growth towards the direction of Molecule x and in other directions may support
our hypothesis as it still attracts growth. However, it may also suggest that it may not be a strong

Cain Was The Firstborn Of Adam And Eve Essay
Cain was the firstborn of Adam and Eve. In him were deposited all the desires of restoration of
the original state of the man and mainly of the state of intimate communion with God the all
powerful. Therefore, Cain shows himself to be a person who did not please God with his
offerings, because his motivation was different from the motivation of his brother Abel, as he
sought to present the best of his flock to the Lord as we can see at Genesis 4:3 5 And in process
of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord.
And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had
respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And
Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell . It happened at the end of a time Cain brought
from the fruit of the earth an offering to the Lord; Abel, for his part, brought of the firstfruits of
his flock and the fat thereof. The Lord of Abel and his offering were pleased; While Cain and his
offering were not pleased. It is understood that Cain would have offered an offer thankfully and not
voluntarily as was the case of Abel. This form of offering of Cain displeased the Lord, who came to
pay attention to Abel s offering. Writing about the punishment God applied to Cain, which was
intended to lead him to repentance, shows how much his heart was blacked out by sin and rebellion
against the Creator. But nevertheless punishment

Research Paper On Barkhado
As I interviewed Barkhado, I noticed that Somaliland is built of more than one religion. The major
religion in Somalia is Islam. Islam is the principal faith and is vitally important to the Somali sense
of national identity. There is a small Christian community in Somaliland mainly living amongst
Muslims in the Banaadir region. Somali people consider Christians as gal , the enemy of God. They
see Christianityas something, which has been perverted. Somaliland s biggest obstacle to finding
the truth is ignorance. The biggest influence comes through students who graduate from their
institutions. Barkhado says that they pray five times a day and do not eat pork products or drink
alcohol. Men may have up to four wives at one time. However,

Who Is Vanderbilt A Hero Or A Villain
Subsidies and Steamboats: the Positive and the Negative Vanderbilt: Hero or Villain? Cornelius
Vanderbilt was an entrepreneur who attempted to break monopolies in the steamboat industry.
Vanderbilt tried to run those who used government subsidies out of business by charging less and
providing better service. However, from other perspectives, his methods were immoral. Because of
this, the question of whether Vanderbilt was a hero or a villain arose. Even so, it can be seen that
Vanderbilt helped the economy of the steamship industry. Vanderbilt used different methods that
gave his business more customers. He experimented with technology that was not traditionally used,
like his use of the beam engine. This proved to give more speed than the

Lord Byron Romantic Poet
Sorrow is knowledge, those that know the most must mourn the deepest, the tree of knowledge
is not the tree of life. Lord Byron Lord Byron was exceptional poet whose work would stick
around forever and awe inspire many. Though born in the late 1700 s, Lord Byron was one of
the leading figures of the Romantic Movement in early 19th century England. The notoriety of
his sexual escapades is surpassed only by the beauty and brilliance of his writings. After leading
an unconventional lifestyle and producing a massive amount of emotion stirring literary works,
Byron died at a young age in Greece pursuing romantic adventures of heroism. Lord Byron is
regarded as one of the greatest British poets and is best known for his amorous lifestyle and his
brilliant use of the English language. Born George Gordon Byron, on January 22nd, 1788, Lord
Byron was the sixth Baron Byron of a rapidly fading aristocratic family. Byron was born with a
club foot that left him self conscious for most of his life. As a young boy, George had to endure
many unfortunate events. Including his father abandoned the family, his schizophrenic mother
and nurse who abused him. As a result he lacked discipline and a sense of moderation, traits he
held to his entire life. In 1798, at age 10, George inherited the title of his great uncle, William
Byron, and was officially recognized as Lord Byron. Two years later, he attended Harrow School in
London, where he experienced his first sexual encounters with males

Effect Of Change During The Post Independence Period
Chieftaincy has continued to experience pressures of change during the post independence period.
The introduction of the central government system in Ghana interfered in the institution of
chieftaincy and reduced much of the authority and the power of chiefs (Boadi 2001, 20). However,
despite these two major changes, chieftaincy is still very important in Ghana. Moreover, those
pressures did not affect the religiosity of chieftaincy, which have always served as a hindrance to
the involvement of Christians (Safo Kantanka 1993, 53).
Christianity in Ghana
When European missionaries arrived on the Gold Coast (now Ghana), they deemed certain
indigenous practices unholy and contradictory to Christian teachings. Christianity also affected the

Today the notion of traditional practices like ancestor worship contradicting Christianity is central
to the discussion of chieftaincy and Christianity. For example in Ghana home movies, traditional
indigenous practice like ancestor worship and the pouring of libation is seen as backward and
unholy. In her article, Between Customs and Christianity, Naomi Wellings states,
Many [Christian chiefs] had faced criticism from other Christians who believed they could not
carry out the various sacrifices or drink offerings to ancestors required of them traditional spiritual
customs which imply a belief in the spiritual power of the dead to change life for the living and
which some Christians view as idolatrous. (Wellings 2006)
Christian chiefs face the dilemma of whether to embrace Christianity and forsake all traditional
religious practices or denounce Christianity? There are different views regarding whether a
Christian can become a chief. The issue of concern regards to the following questions: Is it
possible for a Christian to be a chief and still fully be committed to God and follow the teachings
and commandments of God? Is it sinful to be a Christian and a Chief? Should the church allow a
Christian to become a traditional chief? There are different views regarding the topic of chieftaincy
and Christianity.
Can Chiefs Truly Practice Christianity? No. Some scholars and Christians believe that it is
impossible for one to be a

Book Report Freak The Mighty
Freak the mighty is a story about two young boys who both have a hard time going through life.
Freak is crippled and short, and Max is tall and retarded. When they become friends, Freak rides on
top of Max s shoulders and together they are freak the mighty whom go on quests together. This
book really shows how you should not judge someone by how they look, which is like the moral of
the story. The character of Freak/kevin is first described as a, crippled kid like humanoid. pg.10 If
we were to describe him just on his appearance we would see him as a scrawny, geeky, crippled kid
who has no friends. Although when we first see him he acts kind when he says to Max his friend,

Modern History Assignment
How did European Influences from the early 19th century affect Morocco?
Europe has had incredible influence on Morocco and Northern Africa, and its strategic location
between greater Africa and the Iberian Peninsula has shaped its history. The area has been
occupied by a vast litany of civilizations, from ancient Romans, and Arabic occupants bringing
Islam, to life as a protectorate of France in 1912. The European occupation of Morocco between the
19th and 20th centuries has truly had a lasting effect on the region.

In the early 19th century, major European influence began with Abderrahmane, who ruled from
1822 to 1859 and took a vastly different approach from his predecessor, Moulay Slimane who
began his reign bankrupt, and worsened the situation with an incredibly bad decision, enacting
isolationist policies, severing all trade with Europe because at the time, the shari a was
interpreted to have forbidden trade with Christians, however some historians believe that the was
actually because of a long running non aggressive conflict Morocco had with Spain and Portugal.
These policies caused mass famine and rioting in Fez in 1820 , and all but brought the Sultan
down until he paid off the armies. Abderrahmane was an enthusiastic advocate of foreign trade,
signing trade treaties with Portugal, France, Italy and Britain. These treaties went a long way to
improving Morocco s international position and when Morocco entered a drought in 1825; they
imported 2.5 million kilograms of grain, alleviating the situation. When France invaded Algeria in
1930, Abderrahmane had to decide whether to support religious brothers, or to live with their new
and powerful neighbor, he was stuck between a rock and a hard place, as one would be met with
rebellion and the other invasion. He chose

Hospital Observation
The hospital lobby was filled with the smell of hand sanitizer. I remember feeling the deep
anticipation of seeing my little sister for the first time. The night before I remember overhearing
my aunt on the phone, saying it was happening. Instantly, I figured out that it meant my mom was
having the baby. Full of excitement, I woke up early the next day, rushed down the stairs, and
woke my dad up. My first question was what is her name, but he said mom wanted to tell us all
together when we went to the hospital in an hour. In response to this, I whined for ten minutes till
he gave up and told me that it had to be our little secret. Her name was Narayani. We quickly drove
to the hospital, where we spent three minutes getting visitor badges.
We entered the elevator next. The elevator was as long and narrow as a prison confinement.
Slowly and steadily, it glided up to the 5th floor. The inside of the elevator smelled like fresh
hand sanitizer. My sisters and I had a million questions we wanted to ask but at that time all of us
were silent in awe. Noticing our reaction, dad looked at us and smiled as comfort. The doors

Taking a Look at Euclid s Life Essay
Euclid was born around 365 B.C; his birthplace was in Alexandria, Egypt. Euclid died around
275 B.C., he died in Alexandria Egypt. His death was unspecified. The city of his birth place is a
mystery. Medieval authors often called him Euclid of Megara. They often confused him with an
earlier philosopher Eucleides of Megara, who was an associate of Socrates and Plato. When Euclid
arrived at the Academy School, Plato and the first generation of his students had already died. The
Academy was the outstanding mathematical school of the time. He traveled to Alexandriaand was
appointed to the faculty of the Museum. Ptolemy Soter ruled Egypt from 323 to 283. Ptolemy was

Euclid wrote one of the most famous books that is still used today. This was not the first time that
people wrote about mathematics. Many other people developed some of the theories he presented.
Euclid was the first person to write a complete review of all geometry. Euclid is also famous for his
theories on other parts of life. Today we understand Ancient Greek culture as classical. Euclid was
in Greek culture at the time as a scholar. Books 7, 8, and 9 introduce the reader to arithmetic and
the theory of rational numbers. Book 10 is the difficult subject of irrational numbers. The remaining
three books are about elementary solid geometry. It should be noted that the elements discuss
several problems, which then turns into algebra. But Euclid treats algebra in geometric terms.
Euclid showed development of a new proof for the Pythagorean Theorem, the theory that only one
parallel to a line can be drawn through any point. Modern mathematicians have maintained that no
proof is possible; Euclid may be excused for not providing one. Spherical geometry is represented
by the Phainomena, which is astronomical text based in part on a work of Autolycus of Pitane, a
slightly older contemporary. Euclid wrote on music, there is no other ancient work of science; it
needs a little revision to make it current. Other Hellenistic mathematicians such as, Hero, Pappus,
Simplicius, and most important Proclus helped out on the Elements just like Euclid. Euclid was also

Abstract
Al Qaeda is arguably the most well known and most dangerous Islamic terrorist organization in the
world. It was established around 1990 by a Saudi millionaire, Osama Bin Laden, to bring together
Arabs who fought in Afghanistan against the Soviet invasion. The goal of the organization is to
reestablish the Muslim state throughout the world. Al Qaeda works with allied Islamic extremist
groups to overthrow regimes it deems non Islamic and remove Westerners from Muslin countries.

These plots included the bombings of the African Embassies in 1998 and the September 11, 2001
attacks. Following the September 11, 2001 attacks against America, American led forces toppled
the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. Approximately half of the senior Al Qaeda leadership was
captured during the American led campaign, along with crippling the group s communication
network. The exact size of Al Qaeda is unknown, but the group likely has several thousand
fighters. The estimated numbers of people who trained in camps or fought in Afghanistan
ranges from 20,000 to 60,000 but these are not all Al Qaeda members. Al Qaeda serves as an
umbrella organization that carries out its own terrorist acts as well as a focal point for other
extremist groups. Some experts believe that Al Qaeda is an organization in transition. The losses
of many of the group s leaders and their base in Afghanistan have disrupted the organization.
While Al Qaeda s definitive structure is unknown, experts fear that the organization can continue
to operate if they lose senior leaders due to the entrepreneurial spirit in its lower level fighters. Al
Qaeda is a network with global reach and is reinforced by its ties to Sunni extremist networks.
Until the American led attack, Afghanistan was where Al Qaeda s base of operation, logistics, and
training facilities were. Al Qaeda has since branched out and has cells or collaborators found in
south Asia, Southeast Asia, the

Bill Russell was a professional basketball player in the 50 s and 60 s who stood up for his beliefs

A Raisin Of The Sun By Lorraine Hansberry
Lorraine Hansberry, a female playwright and black activist, spent almost all of her life dealing
with American racism, poverty, and lack of social mobility. As a person who witnessed the daily
struggles of African Americans, Hansberry wanted to expose the hypocrisy in the idea that America
was the land of equal opportunity. As a result, in 1959, Hansberry wrote the play, A Raisin in the
Sun, which details the Youngers, an African American
family, who experienced racism, poverty, and
the lack of social mobility during the 1950s in Chicago s Southside. Throughout the play, the
Younger family members try to make their respective dreams come true and try to deal with the
problems that surround them. However, the process of one family member achieving his or her
own dream stifles another family member s respective dream. Hansberry uses the Younger family
characters to argue that America is not a land of equal opportunity due to racism, poverty, and the
lack of social mobility and to make American society aware of the disadvantages that African
Americans are faced with.
Hansberry uses Walter Younger, an African American male character who aspires to have a better
socioeconomic position in the United States, to reveal the economic and social inequities African
Americans face. During the play, Walter Younger states that he is tired of everything [...] [and]
the way [they] live (Hansberry 32) because he doesn t have a career to help him move up in society

The Alumni Of The University Council Essay
Engaged to improve the experiences of other like minded individuals As we saw in the first

alumni who are also involved in other aspects of Cornell choose to do so in order to address the

through holding leadership roles. Malcolm enjoyed being part of university council because it made
him feel connected to Cornell. He had an active role in helping the university communicate its

Food Borne Illness In The United States
The United States government needs to work on their food regulations. 48 million Americans

borne illness is a big issue in the United States. Each year up to 5,000 people die from foodborne

Another thing that is another big part in foodborne illness is the way it processed or cooked. When
the government monitors foodsafety, there are fewer foodborne illnesses that make people sick.

Ethics In Sociological Research
In sociological research ethics require honesty, truth, and openness, condemning plagiarism, and
informing subjects they are being studied and should never be harmed. It s argued on both sides
that the subject should be and should not be informed of the intent of the research. While I think it
is sneaky to not inform the subject of the researchcontent, I also believe that in doing so could
hinder accurate results, by making the subject to researcher relationship biases. For example, I
worked for a company that did different types of surveys. While, the respondent was almost
always left unaware of the company requesting the stud, we always had a briefing process in
which we vetted the respondents by reading a brief introduction on what the survey was about (i.e.
row crops, cattle, pesticides, etc.). If the respondent qualified after a few brief questions, then the

appearance, visited these men in their private homes, and then lied about the study being for

Soft Media And Soft News Media Essay
Just how influential are soft news outlets in informing the american people? I approached this
topic with an interest in the answer because soft news media is one of the early ways that I was
introduced to politics. It is through this medium of media that I have seen many people increase
their political participation. There have been some studies in this topic but I want to see how
prevalent these studies are to today s soft news media. One of the more useful resources that I had
while writing this paper is that of Matthew A. Baum. He has written many studies regarding soft
newsin the media throughout the years. I believe that soft news outlets are a great way for the
politically uninformed to become better informed rather than watching the more hard news
outlets. What does the term soft news actually mean? Well one great way of defining it is as a
style and genre that blurs the line between information and entertainment. (Lisa Mills Brown
2014) A few examples of some of the more well known soft news programs are The Daily Show
and The Tonight Show hosted by a variety of anchors. In my opinion, what makes these shows
so popular is how each show is able to combine jokes and lighthearted humor to news that would
otherwise be serious. Accordingly, many people probably feel the same way. By moving away
from the more traditional hard news, people are probably looking more towards soft news media
as a way to get their daily political news. With a variety of different

Florence Kelley s Speech On Child Labor Rights
On July 22, 1905, Florence Kelley, motivated by the plight of these young women and children,
affected drastically by the lack of child labor laws, delivered a speech to the National American
Women s Suffrage Association in Philadelphia. Kelley s strategies, including word choice and
tone, persuade her audience to join forces to help free the American children from toil.
Beginning her speech, Kelley applies her credibility by placing statistics regarding the
controversy of child labor laws, revealing that she is informed about this topic. Her credibility
has a great connection to her purpose, she claims that the number of working girls doubled from
census to census and girls from twelve to twenty years are working when they should not have
to. Kelley then manifests her concern over these working girls by explaining that, tonight, while
everybody else is snoozing away in bed, these several thousand little girls will be working in
textile mills, (16 17). These words make her audience feel pity concerning those young girls and
are a great reason to act against the unfair laws and regulations that violate both their human and
women s rights, especially when they aren t even getting paid fairly. By appealing to their
emotion Florence Kelley wishes to push the women to act on her proposal of joining together
and helping the poor young girls of their nation. Kelley continues to approach and influence the
women s sentiments and hopefully their actions by including her scandalized argument that in
Georgia there is no restriction whatever! A girl of six or seven years, just tall enough to reach the
bobbins, may work eleven hours by day or by night, (29 31). She decides to include the bobbins
of sewing machines in factories to illustrate how short and how young they are to be working in
dangerous factories where their rights are ignored, girls at that age should worry more about going
to school instead of sacrificing themselves to bring money for bread to their homes. One would

help in treatment suggestions. Therefore it is important to look upon the major types of personality

According to Fournier, a projective personality test is a test intended to uncover shrouded feelings
and inside clashes through a subject s reactions to vague jolts. Rather than being scored to a
widespread standard as with a target identity test, content from projective tests is dissected for
significance. Projective identity tests should have the capacity to gauge regions of your oblivious
personality, for example, identity trademark, fears, questions and mentality. A few superiors
utilize these kind of tests to attempt and check whether you are a proper fit for their workplace.
Francis Galton is the individual who designed this strategy for testing. His first trial was directed

Trade Relationship between the European Union and Russia
Slide 3 4
The European Union and Russia have a strong trade relationship. Bilateral trade and investments
continue to grow rapidly.
Since 1997 the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement has been the framework of the EU Russia
relations, regulating the political and economic relations between the EU and Russia. One of the
main objectives of this agreement is the promotion of trade and investment as well as the
development of harmonious economic relations between the EU and Russia.
EU imports from Russia are, however, to a very large extent not subject to any restrictions. The
recent WTO accession of Russia will prevent Russia from adopting unilateral tariff hikes as has
been the case in the past.

Despite that, the EU is by far the largest investor in the Russian economy.
On the other hand, it seems that a significant part of the FI inflows, and also of the recent increase,

Jeans Are A Modern Staple Of Everyone s Closet
Jeans are a modern staple in everyone s closet. They are versatile and look great on everyone, if
you have the perfect pair. Not all jeans cater to everyone s needs; you must find your preferred
jean brand. Jeans are an article of clothing I invest in, much like many other people. I suffered
through ill fitting jeanall throughout middle school, until I was enlightened. My sister took me
to American Eagle picked out a pair for me to try on. I could immediately feel and see the quality
difference. The jeans didn t even feel like the inelastic and inflexible jeans I was forced to wear
throughout my childhood. American Eagle Jeans had set a new standard for me. They offer an
extensive variety in styles, washes, and sizes. The only small flaw is their retail pricing, but it is
certainly worth the investment. American Eagle jeans are made out of a premium cotton denim
material called Cotton Elastane and top of the line dyes. Cotton Elastane is breathable, elastic,
flexible, and comfortable. This ninety nine percent cotton one percent elastane blend of fabrics is
what sets American Eagle Jeans from other jean brands that produce a product that is stiff,
unbreathable, uncomfortable, and restrictive. This premium material is extremely durable,
withstanding multiple washes and wears with no signs of weakening. Through all of the washes
and wears they still manage to keep their elasticity. Other jeans I have had would lose their original

Women in Movies Essay
Women in Movies Since the 1940 s, movies have predominately portrayed women as sex symbols.
Beginning in the 1940 s and continuing though the 1980 s, women did not have major roles in
movies. When they did have a leading role the women was either pretreated as unintelligent and
beautiful, or as conniving and beautiful: But she was always beautiful. Before the 1990 s, men
alone, wrote and directedall the movies, and the movies were written for men. In comparison,
movies of the 90 s are not only written and directed by women, but leading roles are also held by
older and unattractive women. In this paper I will show the variations and growth of women s
roles in movies from the 1940 s though the 1990 s.

How The Water Feels To The Fishes Analysis
Ignorance is bliss as said by many people. As defined in the dictionary it is, lack of knowledge or
information (google). It could be a blessing or a curse. In this case, humans being ignorant is a
curse. Our thoughts have been so conditioned that our curiosity has been stolen from us. We no
longer have her own unique thoughts, we just go with what we are told. In How The Water Feels
To The Fishes by Dave Eggers, he writes how ignorant humans can be to everyday things like, air.
People always ask the fishes, what does the water feel like to you? and the fishes are always
happy to oblige (23).The fish have more wisdom compared to the humans. They are more
attendant and aware of their surroundings. They know how ignorant the humans can be and
always try to help them out. They explain to the humans how water can feel like the fur of a
chinchilla (23). Or like the tongue of a cat (23). It can feel many different ways depending on the
temperature or time of the day. When it s cold out, the water is like cracked glass. Or honey

The Zoo Controversy Essay
Everybody s been to the zoo; they ve either enjoyed a dolphin show, or fed the penguins. Zoos
have been a part of American culture for centuries. At first, a zoo could be seen as nothing more
than a jail cell for animals, but today, zoos are being completely transformed. What used to be
confined cages are now being revolutionized into acres of land for different speciesto reside in. The
opponents of zoos feel that they are inhumane and harmful to animals. However, zoos are beneficial
for several different reasons, including, animal conservation and captive breeding, scientific studies,
healthcare, and education. Daniel Martin, writer for mailonline.com, wrote an article about Angela
Smith who works as a Labor s Charities Minister.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Currently, animals in zoos are kept in well clean, vast areas of land where they are free to roam
around in a habitat where they feel comfortable. According to a TIME Magazine article, The San
Diego Zoo spent 3.5 million dollars to construct a mock forest for five bears (Gibbs). The exhibit
includes trees, a waterfall, and even an electronic honey dispenser. According to the article,
[w]hen the lush exhibit opened this summer, zoogoers loved it, and so did the bears. They
shredded the trees and rolled in the sod, (Gibbs). Instead of the small cages and foul odors that
most people associate with zoos, many zoos spend a large sum of their budget on keeping their
facilities pristine. Animal habitats are now bigger than ever, and more importantly, cleaned
multiple times a day, along with the animals regular feedings. This further proves that zoos have
made drastic improvements over the introductory zoos most people associate with. Contrary to
what Smith believes, zoos are actually very beneficial for animals, one of the main reasons being
conservation of species in zoos. Since their beginning in Europe in the mid 19th century, zoos have
improved drastically; back then, zoos were merely for entertainment, where as now zoo owners are
more aware and concerned with the welfare of their animals (Masci). With the endangered species
list rising every year, it is imperative that scientists remain conscious of the number of

Summary Of ABC Series The Abbey
The Abbey
The Abbey is an ABC series that documents the events experienced by 5 women who have been
selected to live the lives of monastic nuns at The Abbey , which is Australia s first enclosed
monastery, for 33 days and nights. The nuns of the Abbey focus their lives on three main ideas
listening, silence and obedience.
The purpose of this series was to take 5 very different women who all were to some extent critical
about the existence of God and the relevance of religion in their lives.
The two women I have chosen to focus on are Robyn and Tusa as well as looking at the role that
the religious mentor to the women, Sister Hilda, played in developing these two women s personal
faith.

Hilda later explains that they encourage this silence, so that the participants can listen to the ear of
their hearts and maintain a continuous connection with God in everything they do and say during
their time at the Abbey.
Hilda accepted all the women no matter what they believed and no matter how they personally
connected themselves with God, an example of this was when Tusa couldn t understand the
relevance of religion in her life, Hilda told her It s not our religion we are trying to share with you,
we just want to share God with you .
In the final scenes of the documentary, Hilda talks about why her and the sisters live their lives
like they do and simply explains the whole purpose of the journey that the five women had just
finished, she said, People say that oh those nuns their just wasting their lives, but I honestly believe
that when me and the other sisters are praying everyday, we are making the world that much better
and we are making someone s day that much better .

The Business Culture Of India
BUSINESS CULTURE Since 1970s, in INDIA the perspective of multinational companies has
changed drastically, when the country invited FDI (foreign direct investment) and opened its
economy, and worldwide players, for instance, 3M, Coca Cola, Volkswagen and began
investigating their business. In the year1980, diverse MNCs, for instance, Motorola, NEC and
Philips were gladly accepted. They valued corporate expense rates and paid no obligations on their
capital merchandise imports. Generally, they were adored by consumers and the government alike.
Indeed, even into the 1990s, as INDIA added to a superior comprehension of MNCs, the

Additionally, relationship is very formal in INDIA. While doing business MNCs should make
their dealing in a professional way. Never turn out to be excessively casual and keep away from

Notwithstanding, it is vital not to give or exchange gifts without a justifiable witness or a reason.
This may be interpreted in an unexpected way. At the point when the Chinese need to purchase

Examples Of Humanity s Sinful Nature And Edmund Pevensie
Humanity s Sinful Nature and Edmund Pevensie
Humanity is a beautiful force of nature, but just as an ocean in beautiful, it is also treacherous.
Human nature is sinful in nature, No one has to teach a child to lie or be selfish; rather, we go to
great lengths to teach children to tell the truth and put others first. Sinful behavior comes naturally.
( What is the sin nature? , 2017). C.S. Lewis wrote a series of books called The Chronicles of
Narnia and in one of these named The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. C.S. Lewis weaves a
wonderful tale about four children collectively called the Pevensie children who find a world
unlike any other inside of a wardrobe. They meet the all powerful Lion, Aslan, that brings awe to
their person. They hear about the White Witchwith all of her horrors, and Edmund (one of the
children) even experiences her himself. The children even fight a battle against the forces of evil
in their minds and physically on the battlefield leading to the thrones of Narnia. Through this grand
story, C.S. Lewis wrote in a character very important to the ideas of human nature. Edmund was
one of the Pevensie children and is used in C.S. Lewis s novel as a representation of humanity. C.S.
Lewis presents Edmund as humanity through his foolish blindness to that which is sin, his pride
and jealousy, and his fear of judgement.
Edmund is already a foolish boy by the result of his sinful nature. C.S. Lewis shows us this in the
book when he writes, He jumped in

How Loss And Death Affect The Lyric And Sonnet
This source discussed the sonnet and lyric (the basis of my project.) It states that a lyric is the
genre of internal and individualized emotions. It s seen as a moment of personal experience. (33)
The traditional emotion that is associated with the sonnet is love. Both the lyric and the sonnet are
connected with song and music. I want to go more in depth on how loss and death can affect the
lyric and sonnetas well, without going into elegy land. This source was very informative on the
basics of a sonnet and a lyric such as how the sonnet has a twist and the lyric is more problematic
than one would think. What more goes into a lyric then? (MAYBE) The approach this source is
taking is showing the ways a sonnet represents and doesn t represent a lyric. How exactly are they
different and the same? Sonnets are a lyric because of the emotional base put into them. It
mentions that in the Romantic peiord, sonnets were not blank verse and strayed from the
conventional form. They used everyday language. That brings up the question as to how did that
incorporate into Keats sonnets? This source also begs the question, which I agree with, who
determines when something is a lyric or a sonnet? (28) The lyric was something that could be
private or social. What made a sonnet more intimate between reader and poet (though many sonnets
were published in newspapers, especially during the Romantic period.) The length can prove to be
a problem for sonnets is an issue that this source

Developmental Prosopagnosia
Developmental prosopagnosia (DP) is a heterogeneous neurodevelopmental disorder that affects
~2% of population. In contrast with acquired prosopagnosia, it occurs in the absence of brain
damage. The insufficiency in face recognition of people with DP can lead to chronic anxiety and
stress, despite the presence of normal intelligence and vision. Ocular scanning patterns can provide
valuable information on the nature of the facial recognition deficits in DP. Visual scanpath can
differ depending on stimuli and the goal oriented subject. One of the most accepted theories on
face processing involves holistic face perception in which faces are recognized as a conceptual
whole, by integration of spatial relations among facial components and featural information into
one representation. Inversion effect is a valuable tool in studying DP. According to double mode

clear whether DPs have internal representations of faces and the pathways connecting them are

Magazine Advertisements Send Unhealthy Signals to Young Women
British doctors yesterday called on the media to use female models with more realistically
proportioned bodies instead of abnormally thin women who contributed to the rise in the numbers
of people suffering from eating disorders.
A report by the British Medical Association claimed that the promotion of rake thin models such as
Kate Moss and Jodie Kidd was creating a distorted body image which young women tried to
imitate. It suggested that the media can trigger and perpetuate the disease.
Female models are becoming thinner at a time when women are becoming heavier, and the gap

The report points out that eating disorders are a mostly western phenomenon and that fewer Asian
and black women apparently suffer from them. It says that in young men, perceived body image is
a crucial factor in the onset of the illness .
The report adds: Advertising, in particular, may influence young people s perception of fashion and
beauty and attitudes towards food. Young women may compare themselves to extremely thin
models, working in the fashion industry or advertising products, and perceive themselves as fat in
comparison, rather than healthy and attractive.
In 1998, a survey by the Bread for Life campaign, cited by the Eating Disorders Association,
showed that 89% of women between 18 and 24 wanted more average sized models used in
magazines.
Yesterday, however, the London based Premier agency, which represents Naomi Campbell and
Claudia Schiffer, said women who bought fashion magazines featuring thin models were as much to

only responding to consumer demand.

Kangxi s Valedictory Edict

in Chinese history. One of his most notable achievements was uniting China after the turmoil upon
the collapse of the Ming. A main reason for the Chinese granting him the mandate of heaven or
granted the right to rule Chinafrom permission of the heavens was his knowledge and respect for
Chinese heritage and culture. Emperor Kangxi recorded a Valedictory Edict in December twenty

In the Valedictory Edict Kangxi views death positively and as a relief from the everyday grind
of virtuously ruling an empire. One of his most virtuous traits is he does not fear death and is
comforted by the idea of relief from the responsibility of his reign through death once his
sovereignty as a virtuous ruler is completed. One of Kangxi s great tasks left to be finished is
who is to succeed him. He views this as a great issue, and as a good emperor cannot neglect it.
Kangxi understands the weight of his decision and I believe he truly wants what is best for
China. The issue of an heir seems to be on the forefront of his mind and this dilemma weighs
heavily on his conscience. Kangxi states he wrote a letter indicating his intention for an heir, but

Student Learning And Understanding The Classroom
As effective a teacher can be, student learning and understanding are the primary goals in all
educators minds when they are teaching. Overall, each of the teachers is constantly trying to
ensure completely understanding, changing the lesson to adapt the pace of what the students
need to learn. When her students were not working through the lesson as quickly as she had
expected, Ms. Kennedy removed a task of the lesson for her class to be able to finish what was
necessary to the class. By being adaptable and prepared for the possibility of the lesson plans not
working as successfully as planned allowed students the ability to be able to learn what is
necessary in the lesson, even if that means cutting a task or two in the entire lesson scheme. To
students who were misbehaving, they were corrected and redirected by their name, being told to
return their focus back to their work. By redirecting the behavior back to working on their
assignment put the emphasis on the importance of the learningin the classroom. For the students
who needed more time and help, Mrs. Graham would quietly tell the students that they could keep
working on the work and if time did not allow the students to continue working, they were told they
needed to finish their work for homework. The materials used were chromebooks for the most part
in their classes, which helped individualize the work. With working on the chromebooks, students

The Devastation Of Hurricane Katrina
The devastation of Hurricane Katrina on the city of New Orleans sparked a national conversation
about who, or what, to blame for the disaster. There were inherent problems in how the chain of
command was structured for the response to the disaster, and issues with how the plan was
implemented. Furthermore, since the hurricane disproportionately devastated low income and
predominately African American neighborhoods, many questioned the equity of the
implementation plans. Additionally, historical causes for the disaster could not be overlooked. The
history of racial housing segregation and the embrace of leveepolicies that endangered the city were
also reasons why many blamed the federal and state governments for not anticipating the disaster...

Since the city has already bought into this concept extensively, increasing the height and durability
of the levees might be easier than creating a new system. In addition, this plan might be viewed
favorably by the Trump administration, which is eager to invest in infrastructure projects. Actors
that might object to this plan include the EPA and the people of New Orleans. This is because
even if the levee system were expanded, the system would continue to negatively impact the
wetlands and could potentially lead to larger problems in the future. Additionally, those living in
New Orleans who experienced the failure of the levees during Hurricane Katrina might be wary to
see a reinvestment in the system. Stone s theories of security notes that security can be defined
loosely as a freedom from fear . For those who lived through the hurricane, the levee failure
constitutes a significant fear. They might advocate for an approach that incorporates numerous
ways to prevent

Fox Searchlight Research Paper
One major social influence that has a drastic effect on Fox Searchlight Pictures is the targeted
population of millennials. Throughout the past decade, film companies have been remaking
successful films in order to hold their grasp on the younger audience. Going to the movies was a
daily routine for many individuals; however, this has recently become a fairly rare occurrence as
films are easily accessible through streaming services. This aspect has a significant impact on the
films that Fox Searchlight produces (Thompson, 2016). b
TECHNOLOGICAL: Presently, there have been significant technological advances that greatly
impact film companies. Developments such as 3D printing, virtual reality, and depth sensors offer a
multitude of options for film storylines. For example, Ex Machina utilized 3D printing to print and

Additionally, there have been numerous articles surfacing regarding racism and sexism within the
film industry. Many individuals have come forward stating that they are treated differently because
of their background and gender. With this in mind, films have begun to drastically improve the
equality behind their products and bring to light the controversies happening around the world; this
can be seen through movies like Moonlight (Petit, 2017).
LEGAL: Since the 1990 s, the internet has been a wonderful place to stay connected, share content
with others, and research various things; however, with this new technology came copyrighting.
Over the years, individuals have shared videos with music or films without providing the correct
compensation to the creator. While there are a few laws established to protect their work they are,
unfortunately, not enough to stop this from happening. This situation is have a damaging effect on
film companies as they are not receiving the correct compensation for their work (Roff,

Pros And Cons Of Thomas More s Utopia
Thomas More s Utopia More s Utopia has upsides and downsides. Though I can t agree with
everything he puts forth, I can say that I would rather live in his Utopia than the other countries he
described. Sadly, some of those negative attributes, found in other countries, are found here in
America. If I could make changes to my own country, some of his Utopian methods would be a
great replacement. His ideascame from a time in history when life was a lot simpler. Had he only
known how much of the unnecessary pleasures this world would indulge in, he would ve had
many more examples of how not to live. Though kings of his time enjoyed their gold,
provocative artwork, and fancy kingdoms, inventions like the iPhone and obscene internet sites
would surely be deemed ridiculous. For starters, his idea of a shorter work day made a lot of
sense. Focus on careers that produce more of what we need and remove those professions that
cater to a tiny percentage of our wealthiest citizens. This would probably take our country back in
time, by removing many services people are used to having in 2017. However, his idea of Utopia
sounds better than living in the present. We have gotten away from what is important in life. The
shorter work day gives us more time to ourselves, more time with family, and would be less
stressful for our bodies and minds. Another reason I would prefer More s Utopia is their idea of
happiness. They get pleasurefrom basic needs being fulfilled. He spoke of

A Streetcar Named Desire The societal choices of women
In his play A Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams explores his ideas about women in
society. By depicting Blanche s desperate need of a man and Stella s dependence upon Stanley,
Tennessee Williamsdepicts women as being vulnerable and suggests the social construct is
created in a way that women s reliance on a man ultimately forces them to choose between
banishment or subjugation. Blanche needs a man in order to exist in the society and so she is
desperate. Blanche is depicted as desperate after the death of Allan as the death of Allan, the only
man in her life up until now, was caused by Blanche s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Blanche is not trusted by her own sister when she was raped by Stanley, this causes Stanley to
win the fight between the two of them. Blanche is unable to have justice because there is no
man to back her up, the men trust other men and the women trust the men as well. Stella is
unable to believe the idea that Stanley would betray her and so she rejects the voice of her own
sister, Blanche, informing us that the voice a woman without a man is no voice at all I couldn t
believe her story and go on living with Stanley (William 144). This depicts Blanche as being
overpowered by the influence of men, here Stanley s opinion, and so rejected by the
environment she lives in to be exiled in a place where she cannot be heard. In contrast according
to the literary critic Panda, Stella has been immensely passivized (Panda 53) when Stanley plays
baseball, Stella watches him play (53) this depicts the relationship between a man and a women
as the man being the one where the relationship is centralized on while the women are expected
to be passive, or she doesn t exist (Panda 53). The ending would have gone differently if there
was a man to back her up as she would be represented by him; however, since it is not the case she
cannot exists in the society that demands that she should be with a man. It depicts the theme by
creating the image of the fact that Blanche is excluded from the community she lives in, she is not

Warden Elbert v. Nash on Running Penitentiaries Essays
WARDEN ELBERT V. NASH
February 7, 1945 Thomas Whitecotton a former Captain with the Missouri Highway Patrol,
accepted the position of Warden of the Missouri State Penitentiary. His mission? clean up the
penitentiary.
A year later, Missouri formed the Department of Corrections. Whitecotton, became its new Director.
Together with Missouri Governor Phil Donnelly, the two set out to take control of Missouri s
prisons.
Prisoners at MSP rioted in September of 1954. The Missouri Highway Patrol and local law
enforcement entered the prison to quell the riot, before all the buildings were burnt to the ground.
In the aftermath of the disturbance, four inmates lay dead, 29 injured and four guards assaulted.

Louis Globe Democrat writer, in the 1960 s, states that he took it upon himself to write about the
appalling Conditions at the Missouri prison. According to Buchanan, he received several
complaints from former inmates at the prison. He decided to investigate the allegations.
In July of 1963, along with Warden Nash and 15 witness s, Patrick Buchanan watched the
execution of convict Sammy Aire Tucker. A man who had a killed a police officer during a robbery.
Wearing a black blindfold, shorts and shoes, Tucker uttered his last words, Thanks for everything. .
The scene horrified Buchanan. A scene Warden Nash, had saw four times.
February of 1964 brought more criticisms to the penitentiary. In a study done by Myrl Alexander,
Director of the Southern Illinois University Center, he stated in a 15 page report, that there were
many problems at the penitentiary.
The report blamed Warden Nash and his officers. Officers who received a mere $262 per month,
were said to be under trained, and too old for the job. The study reported 490 acts of violence in a
30 month period. Warden Nash attempted to compromise, stating that he would use more
communication skills and come down harder on his staff.
In the summer of 1964, Warden Nash attempted to integrate black inmates with white inmates. June
9th, several white inmates jumped 11 black inmates on their way back to their bunks. The whites
wore pillow cases over their heads to hide their identity.
A few minutes later, one black

  • 2. Molecule X s Effect On Caudal Axons Background Precise control over the routes taken by growing neurons is tightly controlled (Steward, 1989). In the brain extracellular cues play an important part prompting attractive or repulsive behaviours in cell migration. In addition, they are necessary for cell adhesion, axon guidance and branching (Erskine Herrera, 2007). For neurons that navigate over long distances, axons can be guided by chemoattractants that draw axonal navigation in its direction or chemorepellents that deter axonal growth in its region. Hypothesis Molecule X acts specifically on caudal axons as a chemotropic substance that directs them to innervate the rostral tectum. Experiment As instructed by Rosoff et al (2009) a pipette assay may be suitable to perform. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Providing convection currents are carefully controlled a relatively stable gradient can be established by diffusion from the pipette. The response of the axon to this gradient is then examined over timescales of about 1 h. Furthermore, this test could be repeated using the mutant axons. Possible Outcomes The first possibility could be that axons grow towards Molecule X. This would support our hypothesis that Molecule X is an attractant that may be present in the rostral tectum. Conversely, the failure of axons to grow towards Molecule x may not support our hypothesis. Furthermore, axon growth towards the direction of Molecule x and in other directions may support our hypothesis as it still attracts growth. However, it may also suggest that it may not be a strong ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Cain Was The Firstborn Of Adam And Eve Essay Cain was the firstborn of Adam and Eve. In him were deposited all the desires of restoration of the original state of the man and mainly of the state of intimate communion with God the all powerful. Therefore, Cain shows himself to be a person who did not please God with his offerings, because his motivation was different from the motivation of his brother Abel, as he sought to present the best of his flock to the Lord as we can see at Genesis 4:3 5 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell . It happened at the end of a time Cain brought from the fruit of the earth an offering to the Lord; Abel, for his part, brought of the firstfruits of his flock and the fat thereof. The Lord of Abel and his offering were pleased; While Cain and his offering were not pleased. It is understood that Cain would have offered an offer thankfully and not voluntarily as was the case of Abel. This form of offering of Cain displeased the Lord, who came to pay attention to Abel s offering. Writing about the punishment God applied to Cain, which was intended to lead him to repentance, shows how much his heart was blacked out by sin and rebellion against the Creator. But nevertheless punishment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Islam is the principal faith and is vitally important to the Somali sense of national identity. There is a small Christian community in Somaliland mainly living amongst Muslims in the Banaadir region. Somali people consider Christians as gal , the enemy of God. They see Christianityas something, which has been perverted. Somaliland s biggest obstacle to finding the truth is ignorance. Cornelius Vanderbilt was an entrepreneur who attempted to break monopolies in the steamboat industry. Vanderbilt tried to run those who used government subsidies out of business by charging less and providing better service. However, from other perspectives, his methods were immoral. Because of this, the question of whether Vanderbilt was a hero or a villain arose. Even so, it can be seen that Vanderbilt helped the economy of the steamship industry. Lord Byron Lord Byron was exceptional poet whose work would stick around forever and awe inspire many. Though born in the late 1700 s, Lord Byron was one of the leading figures of the Romantic Movement in early 19th century England. The notoriety of his sexual escapades is surpassed only by the beauty and brilliance of his writings. After leading an unconventional lifestyle and producing a massive amount of emotion stirring literary works, Byron died at a young age in Greece pursuing romantic adventures of heroism. Lord Byron is regarded as one of the greatest British poets and is best known for his amorous lifestyle and his brilliant use of the English language. Born George Gordon Byron, on January 22nd, 1788, Lord Byron was the sixth Baron Byron of a rapidly fading aristocratic family. Byron was born with a club foot that left him self conscious for most of his life. As a young boy, George had to endure many unfortunate events. Including his father abandoned the family, his schizophrenic mother and nurse who abused him. As a result he lacked discipline and a sense of moderation, traits he held to his entire life. In 1798, at age 10, George inherited the title of his great uncle, William Byron, and was officially recognized as Lord Byron. • 7. Effect Of Change During The Post Independence Period Chieftaincy has continued to experience pressures of change during the post independence period. The introduction of the central government system in Ghana interfered in the institution of chieftaincy and reduced much of the authority and the power of chiefs (Boadi 2001, 20). However, despite these two major changes, chieftaincy is still very important in Ghana. Moreover, those pressures did not affect the religiosity of chieftaincy, which have always served as a hindrance to the involvement of Christians (Safo Kantanka 1993, 53). These policies caused mass famine and rioting in Fez in 1820 , and all but brought the Sultan down until he paid off the armies. Abderrahmane was an enthusiastic advocate of foreign trade, signing trade treaties with Portugal, France, Italy and Britain. Euclid is also famous for his theories on other parts of life. Today we understand Ancient Greek culture as classical. Euclid was in Greek culture at the time as a scholar. Books 7, 8, and 9 introduce the reader to arithmetic and the theory of rational numbers. Book 10 is the difficult subject of irrational numbers. The remaining three books are about elementary solid geometry. It should be noted that the elements discuss several problems, which then turns into algebra. But Euclid treats algebra in geometric terms. Euclid showed development of a new proof for the Pythagorean Theorem, the theory that only one parallel to a line can be drawn through any point. Modern mathematicians have maintained that no proof is possible; Euclid may be excused for not providing one. Spherical geometry is represented by the Phainomena, which is astronomical text based in part on a work of Autolycus of Pitane, a slightly older contemporary. • 16. A Raisin Of The Sun By Lorraine Hansberry Lorraine Hansberry, a female playwright and black activist, spent almost all of her life dealing with American racism, poverty, and lack of social mobility. As a person who witnessed the daily struggles of African Americans, Hansberry wanted to expose the hypocrisy in the idea that America was the land of equal opportunity. As a result, in 1959, Hansberry wrote the play, A Raisin in the Sun, which details the Youngers, an African American family, who experienced racism, poverty, and the lack of social mobility during the 1950s in Chicago s Southside. Throughout the play, the Younger family members try to make their respective dreams come true and try to deal with the problems that surround them. However, the process of one family member achieving his or her own dream stifles another family member s respective dream. Hansberry uses the Younger family characters to argue that America is not a land of equal opportunity due to racism, poverty, and the lack of social mobility and to make American society aware of the disadvantages that African Americans are faced with. Hansberry uses Walter Younger, an African American male character who aspires to have a better socioeconomic position in the United States, to reveal the economic and social inequities African Americans face. It s argued on both sides that the subject should be and should not be informed of the intent of the research. While I think it is sneaky to not inform the subject of the researchcontent, I also believe that in doing so could hinder accurate results, by making the subject to researcher relationship biases. • 21. Soft Media And Soft News Media Essay Just how influential are soft news outlets in informing the american people? I approached this topic with an interest in the answer because soft news media is one of the early ways that I was introduced to politics. It is through this medium of media that I have seen many people increase their political participation. There have been some studies in this topic but I want to see how prevalent these studies are to today s soft news media. One of the more useful resources that I had while writing this paper is that of Matthew A. Baum. He has written many studies regarding soft newsin the media throughout the years. I believe that soft news outlets are a great way for the politically uninformed to become better informed rather than watching the more hard news outlets. What does the term soft news actually mean? Well one great way of defining it is as a style and genre that blurs the line between information and entertainment. (Lisa Mills Brown 2014) A few examples of some of the more well known soft news programs are The Daily Show and The Tonight Show hosted by a variety of anchors. In my opinion, what makes these shows so popular is how each show is able to combine jokes and lighthearted humor to news that would otherwise be serious. Accordingly, many people probably feel the same way. By moving away from the more traditional hard news, people are probably looking more towards soft news media as a way to get their daily political news. With a variety of different ... Florence Kelley s Speech On Child Labor Rights On July 22, 1905, Florence Kelley, motivated by the plight of these young women and children, affected drastically by the lack of child labor laws, delivered a speech to the National American Women s Suffrage Association in Philadelphia. Kelley s strategies, including word choice and tone, persuade her audience to join forces to help free the American children from toil. Beginning her speech, Kelley applies her credibility by placing statistics regarding the controversy of child labor laws, revealing that she is informed about this topic. Her credibility has a great connection to her purpose, she claims that the number of working girls doubled from census to census and girls from twelve to twenty years are working when they should not have to. Kelley then manifests her concern over these working girls by explaining that, tonight, while everybody else is snoozing away in bed, these several thousand little girls will be working in textile mills, (16 17). These words make her audience feel pity concerning those young girls and are a great reason to act against the unfair laws and regulations that violate both their human and women s rights, especially when they aren t even getting paid fairly. By appealing to their emotion Florence Kelley wishes to push the women to act on her proposal of joining together and helping the poor young girls of their nation. Kelley continues to approach and influence the women s sentiments and hopefully their actions by including her scandalized argument that in Georgia there is no restriction whatever! A girl of six or seven years, just tall enough to reach the bobbins, may work eleven hours by day or by night, (29 31). She decides to include the bobbins of sewing machines in factories to illustrate how short and how young they are to be working in dangerous factories where their rights are ignored, girls at that age should worry more about going to school instead of sacrificing themselves to bring money for bread to their homes. At first, a zoo could be seen as nothing more than a jail cell for animals, but today, zoos are being completely transformed. What used to be confined cages are now being revolutionized into acres of land for different speciesto reside in. The opponents of zoos feel that they are inhumane and harmful to animals. According to a TIME Magazine article, The San Diego Zoo spent 3.5 million dollars to construct a mock forest for five bears (Gibbs). The exhibit includes trees, a waterfall, and even an electronic honey dispenser. According to the article, [w]hen the lush exhibit opened this summer, zoogoers loved it, and so did the bears. They shredded the trees and rolled in the sod, (Gibbs). Instead of the small cages and foul odors that most people associate with zoos, many zoos spend a large sum of their budget on keeping their facilities pristine. Animal habitats are now bigger than ever, and more importantly, cleaned multiple times a day, along with the animals regular feedings. This further proves that zoos have made drastic improvements over the introductory zoos most people associate with. Contrary to what Smith believes, zoos are actually very beneficial for animals, one of the main reasons being conservation of species in zoos. Since their beginning in Europe in the mid 19th century, zoos have improved drastically; back then, zoos were merely for entertainment, where as now zoo owners are more aware and concerned with the welfare of their animals (Masci). Human nature is sinful in nature, No one has to teach a child to lie or be selfish; rather, we go to great lengths to teach children to tell the truth and put others first. Sinful behavior comes naturally. ( What is the sin nature? , 2017). C.S. Lewis wrote a series of books called The Chronicles of Narnia and in one of these named The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. C.S. Lewis weaves a wonderful tale about four children collectively called the Pevensie children who find a world unlike any other inside of a wardrobe. The children even fight a battle against the forces of evil in their minds and physically on the battlefield leading to the thrones of Narnia. Through this grand story, C.S. Lewis wrote in a character very important to the ideas of human nature. Edmund was one of the Pevensie children and is used in C.S. Lewis s novel as a representation of humanity. C.S. (MAYBE) The approach this source is taking is showing the ways a sonnet represents and doesn t represent a lyric. How exactly are they different and the same? Sonnets are a lyric because of the emotional base put into them. It mentions that in the Romantic peiord, sonnets were not blank verse and strayed from the conventional form. They used everyday language. That brings up the question as to how did that incorporate into Keats sonnets? This source also begs the question, which I agree with, who determines when something is a lyric or a sonnet? (28) The lyric was something that could be private or social. This is because even if the levee system were expanded, the system would continue to negatively impact the wetlands and could potentially lead to larger problems in the future. Additionally, those living in New Orleans who experienced the failure of the levees during Hurricane Katrina might be wary to see a reinvestment in the system. • 45. Pros And Cons Of Thomas More s Utopia Thomas More s Utopia More s Utopia has upsides and downsides. Though I can t agree with everything he puts forth, I can say that I would rather live in his Utopia than the other countries he described. Sadly, some of those negative attributes, found in other countries, are found here in America. If I could make changes to my own country, some of his Utopian methods would be a great replacement. His ideascame from a time in history when life was a lot simpler. Had he only known how much of the unnecessary pleasures this world would indulge in, he would ve had many more examples of how not to live. Though kings of his time enjoyed their gold, provocative artwork, and fancy kingdoms, inventions like the iPhone and obscene internet sites would surely be deemed ridiculous. For starters, his idea of a shorter work day made a lot of sense. Focus on careers that produce more of what we need and remove those professions that cater to a tiny percentage of our wealthiest citizens. This would probably take our country back in time, by removing many services people are used to having in 2017. However, his idea of Utopia sounds better than living in the present. We have gotten away from what is important in life. The shorter work day gives us more time to ourselves, more time with family, and would be less stressful for our bodies and minds. Another reason I would prefer More s Utopia is their idea of happiness. They get pleasurefrom basic needs being fulfilled. He spoke of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
