For this assignment, I spent time volunteering at Mercy Downtown, helping at the main
information desk. While I was there, I assisted visitors in finding patients by looking up their
room number, directed patients and visitors to the correct area of the hospital, and delivered
flowers to rooms that had been dropped off. A paid employee also accompanied me while there,
as volunteers are not allowed to actually look up patient information via the online portal, but I

Analysis Of The Movie Glory
Why is the movie called Glory? Is it really glory? I strongly believe not only is the movie glory
itself, but the characters represent the idea of glory throughout the movie as well. Glory is a high
rank of honor, which involves tireless amounts of work to get to. Not only did the characters in the
movie represent the movie well, but portrayed the Civil War in a proud manner as well. There are
many characters that represent glory, but there are three that stand out among the rest. Those
characters are Colonel Robert Gould Shaw, Corporal Thomas Searles, and Sergeant Major John
Rawlins. The first character who I believe represented Glory in the movie is Colonel Robert Gould

In the first battle, he was shot in the leg. Colonel Shaw was going to send him back to Boston
for care, but refused to leave his fellow soldiers and continue to fight for his men. That shows
you how much he matured throughout the movie. As soon as Colonel Shaw was shot down in
the Battle at Fort Wagner, he took the flag and gave one of the best fights in the Battle of Fort
Wagner. As he was shot down in that battle, which eventually lead to his death, his fellow
soldiers knew they had lost a key part of their force. With that said, Corporal Thomas Searles
might have only started out as a typical inexperienced soldier, but ended up being one of the
most profound soldiers in the force, which proves he represents glory in the movie. The final
character in Glory who I believe showed much glory is Private Trip. Originally from Tennessee,
Trip was determined to fight anyone he could, and of course, win. Occasionally, he would start
fights with many of the white soldiers because they would say the 54th never really doesn t have
the opportunity to fight. That led to some trouble, but what also led him to trouble was stirring up
trouble with Corporal Searles. He also was disappointed about the lower wages, something that
Colonel Shaw was admired for. Throughout the movie, there were many times where the leaders
