Apple s Case Against Steve Jobs
Apple was founded by three men; Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ron Wayne in 1976. The company
received an investment from Mark Markkula in 1977, introducing Apple Computer Inc. and the
release of the Apple II. The Apple III and Apple IIe were then released. The Apple III was a high end
machine that was highly priced, whereas the Apple IIe was a computer used in various households. In
1980, Apple became a public company which increased their share price significantly, making most of
Apple s staff members millionaires. By 1983, Apple became a Fortune 500 company as a result of
their rapid growth (Alcom, 2012). In the early 1980 s, Apple encountered heavy competition from
IBM which sold millions of PCs. Competition continued throughout the years with Microsoft
releasing software such as Word and BASIC. The original Macintosh was released in 1984, known as
the computer for the rest of us , while the Apple IIe simultaneously received awards for excellence
(Alcom, 2012). Apple filed a lawsuit against Steve Jobs after he resigned due to political issues within
the company. Jobs claimed he would start a new company so Apple filed a lawsuit to stop him from
using sensitive information to be in competition with Apple. Nevertheless, Jobs started the NeXT Inc.
company which made it the first computer on the market that was twice as powerful as Apple s
products and the price was $1000 less. The company performed well over the years with Job
introducing NeXTstep OS which was highly

The Importance Of Fostering Peace And Justice
There are many people who suffer from cognitive disorders such as dementia. The number of people
diagnosed with dementia increases everyday (Gould Reed, 2009). Those who are diagnosed with
cognitive disorders need extra attention from care givers and require specific needs. Nurses caring for
dementia patients foster peace and justice due to the special care dementia patient s require.
Throughout this paper, the reader will understand how one fosters peace and justice, and how nurses
must foster peace and justice when caring for patients diagnosed with dementia. Fostering peace and
justice is a value recognized by Saint Francis. This value was created based on the teachings of the
Lord and is used to help others serve Him on a daily basis. Those who foster peace and justice, live a
devotional life to God. Fostering peace and justice help to keep the world a better place. Everyone
should incorporate these simple values into their everyday life. Fostering peace simply means to keep
the peace among all. Staying calm and looking at a situation from someone else s perspective helps
one to keep high stress situations peaceful. While fostering peace, one does not argue or manipulate
others. Someone fostering peace is not selfish and is willing to help others. Make every effort to live
in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14,
New International Version). Fostering peace is important. In the greater scheme of

Essay on Comparison between Panama and the United Arab...
I chose to compare the United Arab Emirates to Panama because both countries are experiencing
significant economic growth even though many countries are experiencing problems with the
economy. Both countries are located in close proximity to important regional waterways. The United
Arab Emirates has the Straits of Hormuz, while Panama has the Panama Canal. The Strait of Hormuz
is a waterway between the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf. It is bordered by Iran, United Arab
Emirates, and Oman Musandam Peninsula. About 20% of all the world s petroleum passes through the
Strait of Hormuz. At its narrowest, it is 21 nautical miles wide. The Strait is used to import and export
items into the countries that border the strait, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since 2008, the economy of the United Arab Emirates has been steadily increasing. In 2012, the
economy of the United Arab Emirates grew 4.4%. Panama also is experiencing a period of significant
economic growth. Over the past year, the economy of Panama grew 10%, putting Panama as one of
the fastest growing economies in the Latin American as well as in the world. I believe the reason for
such significant economic growth in both countries is mainly due to import/export of goods through
the waterways located by each country. United Arab Emirates had imports totaling 273.5 billion
dollars and exports totaling 314 billion in 2012. Panama s imported goods totaled 26.61 billion dollars
and exported goods totaled 18.87 billion dollars in 2012.
The top five products exported from the United Arab Emirates are crude petroleum, refined petroleum,
gold, petroleum gas, and raw aluminum. The top exported product is crude petroleum which accounts
for approximately 44% of all exported goods. The top five imported products are jewelry, refined
petroleum, broadcasting equipment, cars, and computers. The top imported good is jewelry, which
accounts for approximately 8.1% of all imported goods. The top five products exported from Panama
are antibiotics, refined petroleum, passenger and cargo ships, packaged medicaments, and crude
petroleum. Antibiotics is the top exported good accounting for approximately 28% of all exported
goods. The top five products imported into the country are

Marilyn Monroe Pros And Cons
Norma Jeane Mortenson: Marilyn Monroe in the Making Marilyn Monroe is considered to be one of
the biggest movie goddesses, and prime sex symbols to be alive in her time. Yet, she also wished to be
known as more than just a pretty face, but as a serious, talented actress (Owings). She was born June
1, 1926 in Los Angeles, California with the name of Norma Jeane Mortenson and had endured a
difficult childhood growing up. Despite living in an orphanage, and her mother Gladys Baker in and
out of her life, Monroe managed to out weight the cons with the pros (Porter). Though having endured
such hard times, Marilyn Monroe took her hard knock life and turned it around causing her to boom in
the 1950s changing the outlook of the world. Due ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marilyn herself was a struggling starlet who had big dreams. She worked hard to attain her goals, even
if it meant that she had to go without eating to spend every dime she made on classes to get her a big
break in movies. She even showed a single minded dedication and much ambition to make something
of herself and do it all on her own without the help of filthy rich business men who would rather her
body than what she has to offer as an actress or a model (Winder). Monroe not only endured the
struggles of determination but during this time she even showed kind heartedness and made
anonymous donations to several different organizations and always made time for children. She was
not like others who allowed the fame to get to their heads. She always made sure to take time and do
the right things because she knew that everyone struggled with different issues and she did not want
others feeling alone. She knew exactly what it was like to have nothing and struggled for the longest
and wanted to stand up for what she believed in (Porter). Marilyn wanted nothing but the best for
everybody and equal rights, so every chance that she got she took and stood up for what she believed
in. Another one of Marilyn s greatest assets to the world was that she stood up for her right as a
woman and for everyone else as well. This caused a major impact on the world,

Origin Of Replication Is The Starting Point Of Dna...
BME 603 Exam 2 Tao Xu (Nov 9 2016)
Origin of replication is the starting point of DNA replication. It cannot replicate in the host cells
without this site.
Antibiotic resistance gene can be served as a select agent to find the right clone and then improve the
plasmid transformation efficiency. Antibiotic resistance gene can also give the bacteria a pressure to
have the plasmid, because the bacteria would use more energy to replicate both the plasmid and its
own DNA.
(1) The protein needs complex eukaryotic post translational modifications for structure.
(2) The eukaryotic proteins are not well folded in E. coli and form insoluble aggregates.
(3) Proteins are secreted, membrane or intracellular.
cDNA library is usually used to expressing eukaryotic gene in prokaryotes. There are no introns in E.
coli DNA, so it does not have enzymes which could cut it out in the transcription procedure. In cDNA

Symbolism In The Masque Of The Red Death
The Secrets of Stories Where there is fright and fear, there is confusion and consequences. In The
Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe, a pestilence, Red Death, is roaming free. Prince
Prospero and the other nobles decided to block out the disease by staying in the prince s palace and
have a masquerade ball. No one is allowed in or out, but everyone is struck with terror knowing that
death is coming sometime. The short story was crafted with care, so the literary elements contribute to
the picture created at the end. Irony and symbolism leave the largest footprint on Poe s literature,
especially The Masque of the Red Death. When the components of symbolism and irony bond
together, fiction becomes reality by conveying the message that the amount of money and protection
are false impressions when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like after several months of staying in the palace, Poe mentions ...the brazen lungs of the clock a
sound which was clear and loud...but of so peculiar a note and emphasis that at each lapse of an hour,
the musicians...were constrained to pause... (4). In this quote, the clock is a meaningful object and
represents the abstract idea of time the nobles have left before their last breath. The pause is what
indicates the fear and significance; this illustrates they know their money and the walls enclosing them
are not enough to avoid the spreading sickness. Symbolism is also another route writers take when
trying to express personal thoughts or opinions towards the story, ideas presented, or the moral as
well. Poe seems to have dark approaches to many of his stories, which displays a powerful dislike
towards the end of life. The puzzle pieces fit together due to the fact that Edgar Allan Poe dealt with
pain, suffrage, and many losses during his lifetime. For example, the Red Death, the disease, is a
representation of tuberculosis.

Career And Technical Education Essay
Career and Technical Education in High School: Does it Improve Student Outcomes?
Problem
Career and Technical Education (CTE) or vocational education provides preparation and skill building
for careers. Some high school students will enter the workforce without additional training, but many
will receive secondary CTE professional certifications. The goal of CTE is to connect students with
growing industries in the American economy and give them the skills and training required for long
term success. However, little is known about CTE. Therefore, students lack access to high quality
secondary CTE.
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to determine whether the students who participated in CTE especially
those concentrating by taking a sequence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Which students are taking CTE courses? Which courses and how many of them are they taking?
(directional)
2. Does greater exposure to CTE improve education and employment outcomes (high school
graduation, college enrollment, employment status, and wages)? (nondirectional)
3. Does CTE concentration (taking a sequence of three or more courses in an occupationally aligned
program of study ) have benefits for students? Do certain students benefit more than others?
(nondirectional)
Research Methods The author uses associational research to investigate relationships between taking
CTE courses and improving outcomes for those students. He used causal comparative methodologies
to compare students who participated in CTE and students that did not.
Subjects Involved This study follows three cohorts of students those who started ninth grade in 2008,
2009, and 2010 (the high school classes of 2012 through 2014) from ninth grade through the year after
they should have graduated high school. These cohorts include over 100,000 individual students and
more than 350,000 student year observations. More specifically, all of these students are enrolled in
Arkansas high schools. This study includes all students in Arkansas that are enrolled in CTE courses.

Race In The Last Of The Mohicans
The issue of race is an important idea in The Last of the Mohicans and can be shown through the
characters view of a person and obedience and goodness and intelligence and how they act. Each
character has a different perspective and how it affects them. It can affect how people are treated and
whether they are seen as intelligent or not. Also, there could be inter Indian racism with the Mohicans
towards the Huron s or vice a verse which we will see affecting everyone else as time goes on.
Our first question is does race determine whether a character is good or bad? In the book, we see the
Mohicans who are of a different race and yet they are still a noble and just race, but we also have the
Huron who are bad and are attacking the Mohicans.

Two Most Bothersome People
Bothersome things are everywhere, and are different for different people. I can make a list of many
thing, like spiders or other small creepy crawly bug like things. Deaths of spiders get very creative at
times since I do not like them and refuse to touch them. Trey and Aden are my brothers, and they are
the most bothersome things; I so would pick Trey as a bother moreover Aden. Just being in a room full
of people is a bad thing for me. On Tuesday I Had a cavity or a broken tooth fix, bringing me to
another thing I cannot stand; Drilling or vibrations in my mouth. Cringing every time, a dental product

Technology And Its Effects On Society Essay
The world we live in is constantly changing and we often look back to see what have changed and
whether it has done so for the better or for the worse. We learned from our past that there are several
factors affecting the change we experience and some examples include natural, political, societal,
economic, and technological factors. Particularly the technological one as it can be linked back to the
others, and we can discover even more interdependencies when we try dissecting it and classify the
components into different types of technology. If we attempt to illustrate the dependencies and
interdependencies of all kinds of technology and its derivatives and join them with lines, we might be
even more confused than when we have started. People in the past have relied very much on nature to
sustain their livelihood; we made use of the environment around us and began our agricultural and
pastoral activities as well as hunting and gathering. As time progresses, we came up with contraptions
to aid our farming, rearing, and hunting activities, successfully reducing the manpower needed and at
the same time increasing productivity. One example would be the evolution of the irrigation practices;
from simple water diversion technique to the timed sprinklers we have today. These sprinklers are not
only used in agriculture, but in golf courses, gardens and even in our backyards as well. It is
interesting how the product of an idea originally intended to assist in our livelihood can be

The New World Of Death
I lie against the decrepit, rickety floorboards of our ship. I lie barely awake. The profuse thoughts that
previously encircled me brought a weariness upon me. Bound by a profusion of apprehension and pity,
all my comrades and I set out on this day for our homeland. I do not perceive Ithaca as being far away
physically, albeit the mental endeavour seems as if it will carry into eternity, or until the end of the
world. As if it cannot exist anymore, and reality becomes only a speck in a vast world of death. As if a
whirlpool of thought, emotion, and sound are suddenly whisked away into a small funnel and
absorbed elsewhere. A concept I can imagine, yes, but I cannot describe simply. It is a thing of
imagination after all. Perhaps these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I forged on to exit the ship, I felt a warm presence behind me. Hermes swiftly. Hermes wore a
glistening white cloak and held a shimmering, golden staff. My crew mates left the ship and trudged
through the remaining, shallow sea, which was not a substantial amount.
Odysseus, son of Laertes, o Master Mariner, almighty warrior and expert captain, I come to inform
thee of this island you are about to ponder upon. On this island of Agapios lies a truly petrifying beast,
one known as Karibrion. Winged and a flying master, it can also stand on the earth we stand on.
Though it may seem friendly upon your first encounter, do not befriend it. You will only meet one, and
there is a catch associated with this: the one you meet will give you food but eat seven of your men, or
you can leave the island and search elsewhere in hopes of survival. Be careful, because they move so
quickly, you may not notice at first that your men are missing. Their trickery is nothing to be tested. If
it were me, I would stay here. It is the lesser of two evils.
I did not have the time to thank the delicate, yet tricky soul of Hermes as he vanished away into the
air. I could only imagine that one, likely the one recommended for me, was the lesser of two evils.
Nevertheless, my crew, in front of me, waded through the little amount of water we had yet to
maneuver about and washed up ashore. I followed ponderously in travail.
The island was much more vast than I had imagined, and as I got closer

Characteristics Of King Henry VII
King Henry VII s reign from Christine Carpenter In Medieval times rulers were expected to follow a
strict set of rules, which determined how the ruler s subjects viewed him. Some of the characteristics
looked for in a good ruler were trust in the nobility, having a royal heir, respect for the law, obedience
to the church, and many others. In this paper Christine Carpenter examines Henry VII according to
common medieval standards and describes some of his weaknesses which lead to him being seen as an
unsuccessful ruler at the time and being disliked by many of his subjects. She also mentions where she
got the information to come to these conclusions, which leaves us to decide if we want to believe these
claims or not. Henry VII was not a successful ruler according to medieval standards. Not many people
have set out the time to study Henry VII reign in England, because of how unsuccessful he was.
During this time there is little to no official records from the courts, which leads us to believe this
wasn t a promising time. As a result of the loss of records, this time period is not very researched and
there is still much which is unknown. Henry is known for his, inflated ego and matrimonial adventures
which ultimately determined how he would rule England. Henry wanted to imitate the type of rule that
was very common in France, but this was impossible to do in England. This French style of control,
included a strong control on the nobility and a bureaucracy that showed

Women Objectification By Jennifer Aniston
The issue of women objectification in media has gained a new meaning when Jennifer Aniston wrote
her essay which was provoked by the news about her possible pregnancy. She appealed the mass
media claiming that they should stop writing about women body and appearance. In this sense, the
objectification mean sexual objectification . By itself, the objectification does not only apply to
women, and it is not just about appearance. For example, the employee is also an object, as he/she
seeks to sell his/her work, and employers choose which workers are more profitable to rent. Basically,
the word objectification is used only in relation to advertising that is not quite right. This phenomenon

Of course, it is often accompanied by low self esteem (and problems provoked by that), eating
disorders, not always successful plastic surgery and a lot of wasted effort, money, and time. Even it is
called self objectification, it is clear that some subjectivity remains in man always. It turns out, that in
the man with self objectification there simultaneously aligned the self awareness as the subject, and
the acceptance of the role of the object. It happens like this: a person realizes that he/she has a
function (for example, cooking, or emotional support); understands that there are people who need it;
and does it for them to get an approval or to receive some bonuses without any internal motivation.
The actions with the internal and external motivation may not be different outwardly, but in fact this is
a huge difference between self objectification and action for yourself. For example, there are two girls

and she will get their approval, when the second do that because she wants an even tan or something

studies to appreciate what they learn. There are so many things that can help them prepare for life

that I did, it was clear to me that we can help the kids in school to have less homework.
Statistics about too much homework are illuminating: too much homework can lead to being
counterproductive. After a school day, kids come home and do their homework that can cause stress to

The Growth of the Asian Economy
Asian Economy: The growth of the Asian Economy has had positive structural effects on the
Australian Economy. The trade volumes are at record high levels with China and the appreciation of
the exchange rates have provided a boost to the economy. There has also been a rise in the resource
investment, which has seen a reallocation of factors of production, which has lead to employment
growth in these sectors. The focus of the Asian economies is on the production and consumption of
goods and the commodity intensive nature of this rise has led to an increase in commodity prices. This
has led to an increase in the productive capacity, which supports the exports, employment, incomes,
taxes and wealth of the Australian population. The strength of the resource sector has had a positive

Meat Tenderness, And Consumer Perceptions
Meat Tenderness, and Consumer Perceptions
Introduction The current climate of the relationship between the food producing industry and
consumers is volatile. Current self appointed consumer leaders such as Vani Hari, known as the Food
Babe (foodbabe.com) pressure food industry sectors for changes in products. Reasoning for these
changes largely reside in the practices of fear mongering, using terminology outside the knowledge of
the readers these leaders attract, exacerbating worst case scenarios without full disclosure of required
toxic or lethal doses. Common consumer concerns have migrated into the meat products industry.
Consumers often demand livestock animals used for meat production to be raised similarly to their ...

Post exsanguination, the cellular processes continue to be active until an environmental or substrate
level limitation ceases operation. Koohmaraie et al. (1987) suggested that all animals prior to
slaughter are equally tender. Differences in tenderness level therefore, are a result of the process of
harvest, and the conversion of muscle to meat products. The first 24 hours following slaughter
includes many events that are decisive in the resulting tenderness of meat products. During this time,
energetic biological processes result in decreasing pH within the meat. Muscle rigor delay phase and
onset phase occur, as well as heat dissipation and resultant carcass cooling. Each of these various
factors greatly impact meat quality. pH Changes. The pH of living muscle is 7.0; literature suggests
that final post slaughter pH ranges from 5.3 5.8 (Smulders et al., 1992; Yu et al., 2008). The decline of
muscle pH during the conversion of muscle to meat carries importance to both meat quality as well as
a bacterial growth inhibitor. Ultimate pH in beef carcasses may be reached from 24 40 hours post
mortem (Savell et al., 2005). The decline of pH is a direct result of adenosine triphosphate (ATP)
production maintained in muscle through the anaerobic energy production system: glycolysis. As
blood loss is completed via exsanguination, the ability to maintain oxygen as the terminal electron
acceptor for aerobic ATP production fails

Reflection On Chickens
As I was creating my chicken documentary, I delved deeper into the egg industry s hidden world.
Essentially, this project sparked an interest in the different egg titles, which lead me to seek out more
humane lifestyles for these hens. Sadly, some (people) hold this (animal treatment) on a basis of
divine revelation the other animals were put here for human kind to use as they see fit while others
deny that animals have the kind of subjectivity or experience that could give rise to a moral duty or
obligation on our party (Thompson). For humans, it is easy to view chickens as inferior and boring;
however, my project contradicts this assumption. The ten chickens I filmed demonstrated unique
characteristics, complex reasoning and future planning, and pure joy whilst roaming freely. Therefore,
the battery cage farms are archaic and cruel environments that further support animal cruelty.
According to Brian Ahmed, an Australian battery chicken farmer, chickens in battery cages, that is,
small wire cages, exist in a cleaner environment where disease and parasite rates are lower. So, they
don t fall ill and actually face less fatal risks. In fact, battery chicken s morality rate decreases to 1%.
This provides the world with plentiful and affordable eggs (Davey). Superficially, battery cages appear
humane. However, chickens contain cognitive, emotional, and behavior complexities that the battery
cages destroy (Friedrich). As previously stated, a battery cages are small wire

The Theme Of Persistence In Where The Red Fern Grows
The great physician George Sheehan once said, Success means having the courage, the determination,
and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be. Sheehan meant in this quote that
you can do anything if you are willing to use your willpower and energy to do so. This leads to the
theme shown in Where the Red Fern Grows by Mr.Rawls. In the development of the book Where the
Red Fern Grows the main theme persistence will lead to your own success is shown strongly
throughout. To demonstrate the means of how Rawls showed the previously stated theme we shall
start from the beginning. Persistence can be seen through the use of time with determination and
purpose. A year passed. I was twelve. I was over the halfway ... Show more content on

Billy was loyal, he was loyal to his idea of having two dogs at the start of this tale and now he s being
loyal to listen to his promise with his dogs. He s making sure that he does what he says. In this way he
is always doing his best or as the theme suggests being persistent to following through with his word.
Even though his arms and back felt horrible he kept going and even with the questioning of his father
he didn t back down. This ties into persistence because persistence means the following of a man s(or
woman) thoughts or ideas. Billy felt that he must complete the chopping of the tree even though his
dad told him time and time again. He knew that he had to persist his way through. This is yet only one
of the many times Rawls shows the true theme of this book. Subsequently, the theme is shown again
as the story continues on. Here Grandpa shows his determination to getting Billy in a hunting contest..
Billy, he said, it takes some doing to have a set of dogs entered in this hunt. I ve been working on this
for months. I ve written letters on top of letters. I ve even had several good friends in town helping
me. You see, I ve kept a record of all the coons your dogs have caught, and believe me, their catch is
up there with the best of them (Rawls 157). In this example, Rawls proves not just the main character,

Protective Legislations For Women s India
Protective legislations for women in India and PWDVA, 2005 an analysis of Guwahati city

University, Assam, India (e mail: saikia_bidisha03@yahoo.com ).
Abstract
This research paper will try to highlight the loopholes in the legislative provisions for women in the
Indian constitution. Legislations for women have been there since the British rule. Independent India
is not an exception. But some Indian customs and traditions set restrictions towards women ignoring
them to be an individual. Social construct is such that women do not come out to speak about their
plight in the public. Since independence, Indian women has got the right to vote and many rights
enshrined in the constitution, but the violence against women in the private domain remained unseen
in the legal provisions of the country. Many movements took place to make the violence against
women in the private domain to get legal sanction. Anyways, women get much legislation under the
Indian constitution for their protection yet none of these legislations have clearly considered domestic
violence as a crime till 2005. The failure of the existing provisions to address the domestic violence as
a crime has led to the implementation of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act in
2005. This study is an attempt to analyse the awareness level about the act. This study will deal
extensively with the legal

Reflective Essay On Yoga
What is yoga to you? Most people would say it s a form of exercise, or maybe some would say it will
improve your flexibility. Well to Natalie Bell it s so much more than that. Natalie sees yoga as a way
of life, as a form of spirituality and becoming one with the body and mind, and of course it keeps her
flexible and in shape as well. I met Natalie through my mother she is her friend and yoga instructor
and a very interesting person who I wanted to learn more about. I was curious what would interest
someone in a life dedicated to yoga, and how exactly one becomes a yogi or master of yoga and gets
into teaching it. I learned that Natalie took a 500 hour course in the Yoga Teacher Training program at
the Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Here she learned the skills to
be able to instruct a class and mastered a form of yoga called Hatha Vinyasa. I learned interestingly
enough that there is not one type of yoga but actually around 20 different kinds of yoga you can learn.
However I really wanted to learn why she d be so interested in this and I found out that she is an avid
traveller and during a trip to India when she was younger she met yogi s and lots of hindu people and
learned a little bit about that culture and it really interested her. So, when she returned home to Nova
Scotia she started doing yoga on her own and ended up eventually pursuing the 500 hour yoga teacher
course and completing it, Natalie is also a second degree black belt in

Comparing French Film Carax And Holy Motors
If you knew nothing about french film you might think that this film is the weirdest/dumbest film you

pushing the boundaries of what should be seen on the big screen, evoking emotion and portraying a
message for the viewer to ponder on.
What makes this film a great piece of french cinema is the connections it draws to other films, You can

The Lower House Analysis
The United States Congress comprise two houses, one of them is the lower house known as the House
of Representatives, the upper house known as the Senate. These two chambers made up the legislative
branch due to the agreement of the bicameral legislature resulted from the Great Compromise in 1787.
The House represents the population, while the Senates are appointed by the Congress. Both started
new session on January 6, 2015. However, they have different majority leader; Kevin McCarthy was
the leader of the House of Representatives and Mitch McConnell was the leader of the Senate. People
who work for the lower house have to be fast because the representatives only have two year term. For
the upper house, people can work slower because of six year term; so the Senate can contemplate the
long term effects of laws. Two houses handle different responsibilities. The House of Representatives

Photojournalism and the New Visual Storyteller Essay
Photojournalism and the New Visual Storyteller
Storytelling has always been a part of culture; from Native American cave paintings, to the first
edition of the bible that Gutenberg pulled off his printing press, people have used the technology to
their advantage. It allows man new ways to get ideas across. We also live in a visual culture; from the
stained glass windows that depict biblical scenes, to the millions of billboards that line highways
across America, we have always used pictures to express ideas. In 1937 Henry Luce started a
magazine that utilized the technology of modern printing presses. He hired photographers who used
small 35mm cameras, and so began Life magazine. It advanced a profession called photojournalism,

The Ultimate battle of Good vs Evil in Beowulf
The story of Beowulf involves a man who accomplishes many unbelievable feats. These feats help to
save the Danes from evil beasts. The idea of good and evil opposing one another has been a topic for
discussion since man s existence. This idea is seen all around us in movies (Superheroes vs Villains),
the world (ISIS), and religion (God is good, Satan is evil). The story of Beowulf is has the theme of
good versus evil imbedded into it also. Beowulf is an Old English epic that has many conflicts
between its characters, these conflicts between the characters give the theme of good versus evil in the
epic. The conflicts are more than just man versus self or man verves man. The conflicts are man
versus evil, as Beowulf is a man who is defending humanity from the beasts of hell. Beowulf along
with the rest of humanity is seen as the good , whereas the monsters are seen as the evil . Beowulf
unlike other famous warriors did not fight for his country against others like Achilles, he instead
fought against hellish monsters for the sake of man. There are symbols in the epic that represent good,
Beowulf himself is a symbol for good. There are outside sources that influence the conflict as well,
The Bible s story of Cain influences the readers to determine his spawns to be evil, as he was.
Throughout the novel one theme is extremely clear the theme of good versus evil, it is seen

Essay On Rural Areas
Defining Rural Areas for Statistical Purposes
The vagaries around the rural concept must yield to an objective form in order to have consistent
measurement. Since this chapter draws primarily on data from the National Center for Education
Statistics (NCES), their definition of rural is consistent and convenient. Since 2006, NCES has used
the same urban centric locale definitions used by the US Census Bureau. Fittingly, under this urban
centric definition, rural areas include all those located outside of places the Census calls urban.
The urban umbrella term includes three locales: cities, suburbs, and towns. Each of these is broken
into three subtypes: large, midsize, and small. City locales include territories within an urbanized ...

For this reason, this chapter uses the entire rural locale instead of rural sublevels. One wrinkle in
NCES s classification system is that while every school can be specifically accounted for as belonging
to one locale, school districts can include schools from different locale classifications. For example, a
district classified as suburban might include a number of individual schools that are classified as rural.
Despite the partial mismatch between the locale of some schools and the districts they belong to, there
are valuable reasons to compare school districts by their predominant locale. For instance, districts,
rather than schools, are the ones that often deal with issues like transportation or providing
opportunities for advanced course taking, which pose unique challenges in rural areas. In order to
compare districts by locale, the chapter uses NCES district categorizations which assign a locale based
on the predominant locale the district s schools.
Of course, this classification system groups together a large number of schools into each locale
category that are far from homogeneous. To illustrate differences between locales and across rural
areas, select data points are broken out by locale

Negligent Misrepresentation And Negligence Misrepresentation
.4 A Negligent Misrepresentation A negligent misrepresentation is the one, which came into existence

the circumstances when a consumer finds that he/she can cancel the contract under the case of an

It was notable that the act gave the consumer the legal right to be compensated for the loss, which

The Period Of The Renaissance Period
Renaissance literally means rebirth. It refers particularly to the rebirth of learning during this period.
There was a tremendous revival of classical literature and art, but in the end it was the joining of this
with the intellect of the Italian people that lead to the change of the Western World. This period was
definitely more than just a rebirth though, it was also an age of new discoveries, both geographic and
intellectual. Both of these resulted in changes of tremendous importance for Western civilization.
In the economy, for example, there were many innovations that lead to a commercial revolution. There
were innovations in banking, accounting, company structure, insurance and commercial law and the
invention of commercial capitalism. All of these things worked together to usher in a new world that
was very different from that of classical Antiquity but they also laid the foundation for what was to
come during the Renaissance period.
When looking at the culture during this time there was great influence from the Humanist movement
led by Petrarch. There has been some controversy over time as to exactly what the humanist
movement was all about. According to Burkhardt the time was a discovery of man, which was in
direct contrast to the current secular interests of the time. Modern humanists are defined as someone
who has a set of human values, which are normally secular in nature, that are based on a particular
conception of many and his potential.

The Value Of Societal Order In The Crucible By Arthur Miller
Societal order entails an organized structure of rules and practices in a society intended to preserve the
life and safety of its citizens. Individual freedom refers to the ability of an individual to speak or
behave as one pleases within the law without being discriminated or attacked for one s words or
actions. Under most circumstances, these two values of societal order and individual freedom can co
exist hand in hand without difficulty. However, sometimes a dilemma will arise when these two values
come into conflict, and one value must be chosen while the other is sacrificed. We see this pattern
many times over the course of history, even today. More often than not, individual freedom is
sacrificed to maintain societal order. Arthur Miller s The Crucible illustrates this viewpoint by his
example of the Salem witch trials of the late 17th ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The witch trials began with the accusation of several girls for practicing witchcraft. During the trial,
they shift the blame of their actions onto witchcraft itself, or the witch archetype, claiming that they
were being controlled against their will. This creates a fear of witches in Salem, inspiring the famed
witch hunt. The sacrifice of the witches occurred to ensure the societal order and the safety of the rest
of the town, even if many who were accused of being witches were actually innocent. Miller argues a
valid point, that when one must choose between societal order and freedom, it is the freedom of some
individuals or groups that will usually be repressed. This conflict and the sacrifice of personal freedom
persists even in the 21st century, as we continue to see similar cases in which groups of people have
their freedom sacrificed for the sake of societal

Old Testament Exegetical Paper – Isaiah 62
The prophet Isaiah lived in the Southern Kingdom of Judah in the 3rd century B.C. He had a
reputation as an uncompromising prophet who did not soften his words of condemnation and urge to
make changes (Stafford 616). The nation of Judah stood in a precarious position: the wickedness of
the people, the civil war which divided the Israelites into two kingdoms of Judah and Israel, the
neighboring countries which stood by, threatening war and the dilemma that faced the leaders about
whether or not they should take on allies all indicated the downfall of the nation of Judah if the people

Most references to Zion take place in the books of Psalms, Lamentation and Isaiah. Its first
appearance is in 2 Sam 5:6 as the stronghold of Zion . G.A. Barois points out that it need not be
interpreted restrictively as a single building, but rather as the fortified crest of the hill between the
valleys (959). The name ‘Zion has been suggested by many to designate the entire walled town that
covered the southeast hill of Jerusalem. During the exile however, the whole of Judah came to be
known as Zion. ‘Zion occupies synonymous parallelism with the noun ‘Jerusalem (not just the
southeast hill) while sons of Zion and daughters of Zion implies the inhabitants of Jerusalem (Lam.

the college Magdalen Hall in 1448 on the High Street. The good bishop was a leading educational

features which are not components of the lesser editions. According to Microsoft, these features add
transparent data encryption, SQL Server auditing, multiple active secondaries, and multi site geo

Two new physical servers will be needed for the new database, as well as a virtual machine (VM)

The Affect Of Music Piracy On The Music Industry
Samuel LeGrand Mrs. Turner English 1301.85 11/19/15 Music Piracy and the Impact It Can Make on
the Music Industry For over a decade now music piracy has threatened the music industry by costing it
money, and stealing from it. Peer to peer file sharing has been somewhat of a red flag for the music
industry ever since Napster, a once highly used file swapping network, came into the picture. Napster
and the websites similar to it made it possible for people to trade files downloaded onto their computer
through the internet for free. What that means is that someone who had downloaded the new NSYNC
album could give it away to however many people could access it and no one had to pay a penny. The
big deal about that is the fact that the artists who worked for months to make that album did not get
paid. The only money they saw was from the people who actually went out and physically paid for the
CD. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
David Kushner stated that in 2002 there was an, ...estimated forty million Americans who trade songs
over the Internet, (57). That is just the amount of people who download their music illegally. Another
fairly popular way of getting a hold of some illegal music is to just simply copy music directly onto a
blank CD ROM. This method is called burning music and Kushner wrote that ...two out of five music
consumers now own the machines. (57). The machine that Kushner wrote about is a machine called a
burner that is used to burn music onto blank

Benefits Of Superweeds
Breeding Unkillable Weeds
In the late nineties crop seeds were genetically modified to be protected from the herbicide
glyphosate. These glyphosate resistant (GR) seeds encouraged farmers to use glyphosate almost
exclusively to kill weeds. Unfortunately, weeds adapted to live through being sprayed with
glyphosate. These weeds are referred to as superweeds. These superweeds invade farmland and are
extremely hard to kill. Currently American farmers have no ways to control theses superweeds except
to spray their fields with increasingly large amounts of glyphosate.
Superweeds are hard to get rid of and encroach on American farmland, forcing farmers to use heavy
doses of poisonous glyphosate. Superweeds can be found in over half of U.S. ... Show more content

Their supposed solution is to create and use seeds immune to stronger chemicals such as 2, 4 D and
Dicamba.(Bomgardner) This solution will only make the issue worse; substituting in these deadlier
chemicals is only a short term solution as scientists predict weeds will quickly adapt to them, and 2, 4
D and Dicamba are extremely hazardous to humans. According to an article that is supporting this
solution, dicamba is considered only mildly toxic to people, pollinators, wildlife, and aquatic
organisms. (Par. 6, Barth) As in, the less poisonous solution is only mildly deadly to people, animals,
and plants. It is unacceptable that farmers will be using toxic chemicals on our food while breeding
even stronger, more resilient weeds to kill American crops. The underlying cause of superweeds is the
genetic engineering of crops. When the biotechnic company Monsanto introduced GR seeds to
American farmers they started a whirlwind of events. As Bomgardner explains, Farmers liked
glyphosate because it vastly simplified weed control. (Par. 3) Farmers like using GR seeds because
they let entire fields of crops be sprayed with weed killer. This is a simple and easy way to control
weeds, but it led to the creation of superweeds. Superweeds persist because farmers have no other way
to control weeds other than using GR seeds and spraying their fields with glyphosate. There are other
ways to kill weeds, such as manually ripping

  • 2. Apple s Case Against Steve Jobs Apple was founded by three men; Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ron Wayne in 1976. The company received an investment from Mark Markkula in 1977, introducing Apple Computer Inc. and the release of the Apple II. The Apple III and Apple IIe were then released. The Apple III was a high end machine that was highly priced, whereas the Apple IIe was a computer used in various households. In 1980, Apple became a public company which increased their share price significantly, making most of Apple s staff members millionaires. By 1983, Apple became a Fortune 500 company as a result of their rapid growth (Alcom, 2012). In the early 1980 s, Apple encountered heavy competition from IBM which sold millions of PCs. Competition continued throughout the years with Microsoft releasing software such as Word and BASIC. The original Macintosh was released in 1984, known as the computer for the rest of us , while the Apple IIe simultaneously received awards for excellence (Alcom, 2012). Apple filed a lawsuit against Steve Jobs after he resigned due to political issues within the company. Jobs claimed he would start a new company so Apple filed a lawsuit to stop him from using sensitive information to be in competition with Apple. Nevertheless, Jobs started the NeXT Inc. company which made it the first computer on the market that was twice as powerful as Apple s products and the price was $1000 less. The company performed well over the years with Job introducing NeXTstep OS which was highly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The number of people diagnosed with dementia increases everyday (Gould Reed, 2009). Those who are diagnosed with cognitive disorders need extra attention from care givers and require specific needs. Nurses caring for dementia patients foster peace and justice due to the special care dementia patient s require. Throughout this paper, the reader will understand how one fosters peace and justice, and how nurses must foster peace and justice when caring for patients diagnosed with dementia. Fostering peace and justice is a value recognized by Saint Francis. This value was created based on the teachings of the Lord and is used to help others serve Him on a daily basis. Those who foster peace and justice, live a devotional life to God. Fostering peace and justice help to keep the world a better place. Everyone should incorporate these simple values into their everyday life. Fostering peace simply means to keep the peace among all. Staying calm and looking at a situation from someone else s perspective helps one to keep high stress situations peaceful. While fostering peace, one does not argue or manipulate others. Someone fostering peace is not selfish and is willing to help others. Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14, New International Version). Fostering peace is important. • 4. Essay on Comparison between Panama and the United Arab... I chose to compare the United Arab Emirates to Panama because both countries are experiencing significant economic growth even though many countries are experiencing problems with the economy. Both countries are located in close proximity to important regional waterways. The United Arab Emirates has the Straits of Hormuz, while Panama has the Panama Canal. The Strait of Hormuz is a waterway between the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf. It is bordered by Iran, United Arab Emirates, and Oman Musandam Peninsula. About 20% of all the world s petroleum passes through the Strait of Hormuz. At its narrowest, it is 21 nautical miles wide. Panama also is experiencing a period of significant economic growth. Over the past year, the economy of Panama grew 10%, putting Panama as one of the fastest growing economies in the Latin American as well as in the world. I believe the reason for such significant economic growth in both countries is mainly due to import/export of goods through the waterways located by each country. United Arab Emirates had imports totaling 273.5 billion dollars and exports totaling 314 billion in 2012. Panama s imported goods totaled 26.61 billion dollars and exported goods totaled 18.87 billion dollars in 2012. The top five products exported from the United Arab Emirates are crude petroleum, refined petroleum, gold, petroleum gas, and raw aluminum. The top exported product is crude petroleum which accounts for approximately 44% of all exported goods. The top five imported products are jewelry, refined petroleum, broadcasting equipment, cars, and computers. The top imported good is jewelry, which accounts for approximately 8.1% of all imported goods. It cannot replicate in the host cells without this site. Antibiotic resistance gene can be served as a select agent to find the right clone and then improve the plasmid transformation efficiency. Antibiotic resistance gene can also give the bacteria a pressure to have the plasmid, because the bacteria would use more energy to replicate both the plasmid and its own DNA. In The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe, a pestilence, Red Death, is roaming free. Prince Prospero and the other nobles decided to block out the disease by staying in the prince s palace and have a masquerade ball. No one is allowed in or out, but everyone is struck with terror knowing that death is coming sometime. The short story was crafted with care, so the literary elements contribute to the picture created at the end. Like after several months of staying in the palace, Poe mentions ...the brazen lungs of the clock a sound which was clear and loud...but of so peculiar a note and emphasis that at each lapse of an hour, the musicians...were constrained to pause... (4). In this quote, the clock is a meaningful object and represents the abstract idea of time the nobles have left before their last breath. The pause is what indicates the fear and significance; this illustrates they know their money and the walls enclosing them are not enough to avoid the spreading sickness. Symbolism is also another route writers take when trying to express personal thoughts or opinions towards the story, ideas presented, or the moral as well. Poe seems to have dark approaches to many of his stories, which displays a powerful dislike towards the end of life. The puzzle pieces fit together due to the fact that Edgar Allan Poe dealt with pain, suffrage, and many losses during his lifetime. Technology And Its Effects On Society Essay The world we live in is constantly changing and we often look back to see what have changed and whether it has done so for the better or for the worse. We learned from our past that there are several factors affecting the change we experience and some examples include natural, political, societal, economic, and technological factors. Particularly the technological one as it can be linked back to the others, and we can discover even more interdependencies when we try dissecting it and classify the components into different types of technology. If we attempt to illustrate the dependencies and interdependencies of all kinds of technology and its derivatives and join them with lines, we might be even more confused than when we have started. People in the past have relied very much on nature to sustain their livelihood; we made use of the environment around us and began our agricultural and pastoral activities as well as hunting and gathering. As time progresses, we came up with contraptions to aid our farming, rearing, and hunting activities, successfully reducing the manpower needed and at the same time increasing productivity. One example would be the evolution of the irrigation practices; from simple water diversion technique to the timed sprinklers we have today. These sprinklers are not only used in agriculture, but in golf courses, gardens and even in our backyards as well. • 14. Characteristics Of King Henry VII King Henry VII s reign from Christine Carpenter In Medieval times rulers were expected to follow a strict set of rules, which determined how the ruler s subjects viewed him. Some of the characteristics looked for in a good ruler were trust in the nobility, having a royal heir, respect for the law, obedience to the church, and many others. In this paper Christine Carpenter examines Henry VII according to common medieval standards and describes some of his weaknesses which lead to him being seen as an unsuccessful ruler at the time and being disliked by many of his subjects. She also mentions where she got the information to come to these conclusions, which leaves us to decide if we want to believe these claims or not. Henry VII was not a successful ruler according to medieval standards. Not many people have set out the time to study Henry VII reign in England, because of how unsuccessful he was. (1987) suggested that all animals prior to slaughter are equally tender. Differences in tenderness level therefore, are a result of the process of harvest, and the conversion of muscle to meat products. The first 24 hours following slaughter includes many events that are decisive in the resulting tenderness of meat products. During this time, energetic biological processes result in decreasing pH within the meat. Muscle rigor delay phase and onset phase occur, as well as heat dissipation and resultant carcass cooling. Each of these various factors greatly impact meat quality. pH Changes. The pH of living muscle is 7.0; literature suggests that final post slaughter pH ranges from 5.3 5.8 (Smulders et al., 1992; Yu et al., 2008). Protective Legislations For Women s India Protective legislations for women in India and PWDVA, 2005 an analysis of Guwahati city By: Bidisha Bora, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, R G Baruah College, Gauhati University, Assam, India (e mail: saikia_bidisha03@yahoo.com ). Abstract This research paper will try to highlight the loopholes in the legislative provisions for women in the Indian constitution. Legislations for women have been there since the British rule. Independent India is not an exception. But some Indian customs and traditions set restrictions towards women ignoring them to be an individual. Social construct is such that women do not come out to speak about their plight in the public. Since independence, Indian women has got the right to vote and many rights enshrined in the constitution, but the violence against women in the private domain remained unseen in the legal provisions of the country. Many movements took place to make the violence against women in the private domain to get legal sanction. • 26. Reflective Essay On Yoga What is yoga to you? Most people would say it s a form of exercise, or maybe some would say it will improve your flexibility. Well to Natalie Bell it s so much more than that. Natalie sees yoga as a way of life, as a form of spirituality and becoming one with the body and mind, and of course it keeps her flexible and in shape as well. I met Natalie through my mother she is her friend and yoga instructor and a very interesting person who I wanted to learn more about. I was curious what would interest someone in a life dedicated to yoga, and how exactly one becomes a yogi or master of yoga and gets into teaching it. I learned that Natalie took a 500 hour course in the Yoga Teacher Training program at the Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Here she learned the skills to be able to instruct a class and mastered a form of yoga called Hatha Vinyasa. I learned interestingly enough that there is not one type of yoga but actually around 20 different kinds of yoga you can learn. However I really wanted to learn why she d be so interested in this and I found out that she is an avid traveller and during a trip to India when she was younger she met yogi s and lots of hindu people and learned a little bit about that culture and it really interested her. So, when she returned home to Nova Scotia she started doing yoga on her own and ended up eventually pursuing the 500 hour yoga teacher course and completing it, Natalie is also a second degree black belt in ... Since this chapter draws primarily on data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), their definition of rural is consistent and convenient. Since 2006, NCES has used the same urban centric locale definitions used by the US Census Bureau. Fittingly, under this urban centric definition, rural areas include all those located outside of places the Census calls urban. Despite the partial mismatch between the locale of some schools and the districts they belong to, there are valuable reasons to compare school districts by their predominant locale. For instance, districts, rather than schools, are the ones that often deal with issues like transportation or providing opportunities for advanced course taking, which pose unique challenges in rural areas. In order to compare districts by locale, the chapter uses NCES district categorizations which assign a locale based on the predominant locale the district s schools. There was a tremendous revival of classical literature and art, but in the end it was the joining of this with the intellect of the Italian people that lead to the change of the Western World. This period was definitely more than just a rebirth though, it was also an age of new discoveries, both geographic and intellectual. Both of these resulted in changes of tremendous importance for Western civilization. In the economy, for example, there were many innovations that lead to a commercial revolution. There were innovations in banking, accounting, company structure, insurance and commercial law and the invention of commercial capitalism. All of these things worked together to usher in a new world that was very different from that of classical Antiquity but they also laid the foundation for what was to come during the Renaissance period. When looking at the culture during this time there was great influence from the Humanist movement led by Petrarch. There has been some controversy over time as to exactly what the humanist movement was all about. According to Burkhardt the time was a discovery of man, which was in direct contrast to the current secular interests of the time. • 38. The Value Of Societal Order In The Crucible By Arthur Miller Societal order entails an organized structure of rules and practices in a society intended to preserve the life and safety of its citizens. Individual freedom refers to the ability of an individual to speak or behave as one pleases within the law without being discriminated or attacked for one s words or actions. Under most circumstances, these two values of societal order and individual freedom can co exist hand in hand without difficulty. However, sometimes a dilemma will arise when these two values come into conflict, and one value must be chosen while the other is sacrificed. We see this pattern many times over the course of history, even today. More often than not, individual freedom is sacrificed to maintain societal order. Arthur Miller s The Crucible illustrates this viewpoint by his example of the Salem witch trials of the late 17th ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The witch trials began with the accusation of several girls for practicing witchcraft. The sacrifice of the witches occurred to ensure the societal order and the safety of the rest of the town, even if many who were accused of being witches were actually innocent. Miller argues a valid point, that when one must choose between societal order and freedom, it is the freedom of some individuals or groups that will usually be repressed.
