Midsummer Night s Dream Allusions
In William Shakespeare s Midsummer Night s Dream there are various literary devices displayed
throughout the play, in particular Act 2 Scene 1. Many pictures, quotes and short descriptions are able
to depict these attributes and are displayed within the collage.
One of the few purposes of this scene in the play is to introduce the fairies to the audience. This is
important as the fairy s play a large role in propelling the plot forward to its conclusion. The fairies are
derived from characters familiar to English folklore and are some of the most memorable characters in
Shakespeare s Midsummers Night s Dream. Shakespeare uses poetic imagery as a way to develop the
fairies characters as a group and to grant to audience greater understanding of the play. For example
when the writer of this play writes in the words of a fairy: Through bush/ through brier/ over park,
over pale/ through flood/ through fire/ I do wander ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In William Shakespeare s play Midsummer Night s Dream the author uses numerous allusions to grant
the audience greater comprehension. Specifically the author does this by using allusions to Greek
mythology. An allusion is a reference to something that is not directly mentioned in the text but can be
inferred. An example of an allusion on this play in act two scene one is as follows: The wildest hath
not such a heart as you/Run when you will, the story shall be changed/Apollo flies, and Daphne holds
the chase/The dove pursues the griffin; the mild hind/Makes speed to catch the tiger; bootless
speed/When cowardice pursues and valor flies/ . This allusion speaks to the chase of life; it speaks
about Apollo who takes his chariot from the beginning to the end of the day caring the sun across the
horizon. Also, it references the magical species of the griffin and chase that the dove participates in
with the griffin all with speed and all for a

Butterfly Life Cycle
The Butterfly Life Cycle by Torran Anderson is a leveled text, because Farrah is reading at level H, we
were able to adapt the original in order to suit her skill levels. The book is separated by the stages of
the life cycle and includes a table of contents making each stage highly accessible to the students. In
addition to the table of contents, the beginning of the book also includes the focus question: what is
the life cycle of a monarch butterfly? This focus questions allows for these readers to focus their
attention and read the story having an idea of how their thought process should be conducted. What
we found to be the most vital resource within this text was the introduction to the vocabulary words at
the beginning of the text, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By pausing at words that the students do not know and breaking them down the students will gain
experience that will allow them to work on this practice independently. We set this up as a gradual
release of responsibility, beginning the exercise with a teacher model of how to break down a word.
We will then break down a list of words into parts and have students repeat these breakdowns before
practicing it themselves. Before diving into the reading, we will go over sentences that have these
practice words and have the student, together, repeating the sentences after us. This ensures that
students gain practice reading the word in sentences, rather than as an individual word before
performing their whisper reads. We included whisper reading as the during reading activity, to give
students a chance to read independently but without the pressure of having an audience. As they read
to themselves, students will pause at words they are struggling to pronounce and break them apart, at
this point we will continue guiding students through this process, in order ensure that motivation is not
lost when students feel challenged. To gauge the learnings of the students, we will have each student
chose one word that they struggle with and create a master list, the students will practice pronouncing
their individual words and receive clarifying definitions if necessary. The students will then create
their own sentence using this word, practice it through whisper readings, and then share it aloud with
the group. This process creates a learning experience where students are able to practice not only their
phonics skills but also work on comprehension. This process incorporates repetition to enforce the
importance and practice with this

The Role Of Women In Trifles
In Trifles , Glaspell shows the oppression of women back in 1916 when the play was written. In the
play, Glaspell shows the roles of both men and women. To show how men treated women, what was
expected of the women, and how women overcame the patriarchal society that they were placed in.
Also, Trifles having an effect on the society it was based on and how the roles of women have evolved
over time. First of all, in Trifles , men acted towards the women just as they would back in 1916. The
men are seen as very dominating and they have little to no respect for women (School Helper). It is
shown in the play when Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Hale found the quilt Mrs. Wright was making and they
showed it to Mr. Henderson. They wonder if she was going to quilt it or just know it! (Glaspell). When
they showed Mr. Henderson the quilt, he mocked and laughed at them. Showing that he didn t care
about some quilt that could have been a big piece of solving the case. Also, the men in the play push
the women aside and demote the women when they try to help in the investigation (School Helper).
Mr. Hale and Mr. Henderson really don t care about the things women back then were accustomed to.
When Mr. Henderson asked Mr. Hale if anything was important to investigate in the kitchen, Mr. Hale
said, Nothing here but kitchen things (Glaspell). Proving they don t care about trifles. Second, Susan
Glaspell went into depth of the stereotypes women had in the twentieth century (Igl). That women

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. Essay
This case involves the improperly represented earnings by Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. during the
fourth quarter of fiscal year (FY) 2003 and each quarter of FY 2004. The company used improper
accounting methods to avoid lowering its earnings during that period. Krispy Kreme also fraudulently
reported its earnings per share (EPS) throughout that time, which exceeded the previously stated EPS
by 1 percent. An agreement to settle the charges against Krispy Kreme was reached on March 4, 2009
when the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued a cease and desist order.
The SEC cited Krispy Kreme for three round trip transactions, which involved the company paying
money to a franchise with an understanding that the franchise would later repay the money in a
planned method. This would allow Krispy Kreme to record extra pretax income in an amount that was
nearly equal to the money that was initially paid to the franchisee. The first transaction resulted in
additional net income of $365,000 after taxes. The second resulted in overstatement of $310,000 after
taxes, while the third resulted in an overstatement of $361,000 after taxes.
Further accounting anomalies were discovered during the testimony of a former sales manager at a
store in Ohio. A regional sales manager instructed that double orders would be sent out on the last
Friday and Saturday of FY 2004 to increase the sales of Krispy Kreme in the fiscal year to meet the
projections of Wall Street. The unneeded doughnuts

Deduction In Sherlock Holmes
Sherlock Holmes is one of the most popular detectives in world history. His adventures with the
wonderful Dr. Watson have taken him to many places around england. But not only has he traveled
around the world, but he has traveled around in time too. Sherlock holmes is even more popular that
when his first stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle were released. Today, there are new spin of books
staring the detective, a multitude of movies based off his adventures, but nothing can compare to the
fact that he is the spotlight in his own Netflix series. Sherlock, produced by BBC, is an incredibly
smart show for everyone. Taking place in modern day england, this show s countless plot twists and
endless suspense keeps viewers on the edge of their seat the entire episode. Seeing as it has been about

The Pros And Cons Of American Political Speech
The largest voices in social language are coming from social media platforms. Currently, Twitter and
Facebook have amassed an audience of millions and heavily influence culture and dialect in the U.S.
Political speech, which uses propaganda, has become a tool for social media platforms. Recently,
elections largely relied on media platforms to campaign and permeated social media language,
because they were over publicized and indoctrinated into people s mind. American political speech is
unethical because it uses propaganda such as silencing, double speak and slanting, which has affected
social media and has become a source of entertainment through pillory. There is an online culture that
s created a new relationship between companies and consumers. This has opened a communication
channel that seems to have adopted speech patterns from politics. When people open apps such as
Twitter, they frequently see companies degrading their customers for laughs. For the first time,
companies such as Wendy s have the freedom to silence people without consequence, because of the
wave of silencing that has been seen in our elections. On Wendy s Twitter there have been instances of
people commenting on their food negatively, and mocked using ad hominem. It gives the impression
of small banter, but this is just one example where people have made a comment, been shut down, and
some forced to take down their comments or accounts due to backlash. This was common in our
recent elections, leading

The Hazards of Coal Use
The Hazards of Coal Use:
Coal has been combusted for fuel for thousands of years. However it was not until the last few
decades that the consequences of coal use have been fully realized and effort has been taken to lessen
the severe environmental harm that can come from the combustion of coal. The fact of the matter is no
matter how much we may dislike coal and the detrimental effects of it we, as a nation, depend on coal
to live our lives. When we flip a switch and a light turns on we don t give it a second thought but its
not always that simple. Aside from coal s significant contribution to climate change there have been
other disasters stemming from coal and specifically the storage of contaminants extracted from coal
combustion. One of the biggest man made environmental disasters of the millennia occurred just
outside of Kingston, Tennessee in late 2008. This disaster though not as well publicized as many other
disasters has been estimated to have released over 5.4 million cubic yards of coal ash several times
more contaminants by volume than the Exxon Valdeez oil spill in 1989 (Initial Emergency).
Clean Coal
Similar to most coal fired power plants in the United Stated today the Kingston Fossil Plant in
Tennessee utilized various scrubbers , which effectively separated flue ash, also known as fly ash, a
byproduct of the coal combustion process. Through the use of scrubbers fly ash is separated from the
flue gases released into the atmosphere. Fly ash is

Gap Five Forces
Five Forces Model is a framework used in the analysis of industry structure and profitability. This
model evaluates the ability of company to assess their standing in the industry. Understanding the
industries is essential for any firm to be successful. This model evaluates the risk of entry by potential

and bargaining power of suppliers.

This gives Gap Inc. power to lower the production cost and it allows Gap to be responsive to quick
changes in fashion trends.
Bargaining Power of Buyers
Since there are various competitors and substitutes in the apparel industry, buyers have variety
products that they can choose. Consumer s switching costs therefore are low as there are large among
of different brand name in the market, such as Target, Wal Mart, Abercrombie amp; Fitch and J.Crew
etc. Hence, companies have to work hard to retain the consumers through differentiation of their
products or cost leadership. For instance, majority of buyers were willing to pay for Gap s moderately
priced clothing. On the average, the price of the products which produced by Gap Inc. s was lower
than Abercrombie amp; Fitch, such as the price range of man s tee was US$30 $40 while Gap offered
US $ 19.5 29.5 for the same type of products. Consumers therefore have some power but not high in
apparel industry, due to the low switching costs.
In clothing industry, risk of rivalry among existing firms and threat of substitute products are high;
bargaining power of buyers are moderate; threat of new entrants and bargaining power of suppliers are
low.

Economic Inequality In America Essay
Poverty is one of the greatest problems in the United States today. Poverty is the state or condition of
having little or no money, goods, or means of support; a condition of being poor. Many people,
especially African Americans and children, live in poverty. People in poverty are left to face different
social, cultural, physical and mental challenges. The American Dream is to have a well paying job and
to be comfortable, but most Americans are forced to live a life of poverty. Although the United States
is one of the richest countries in the world, the rate of poverty and income inequality is still relatively
high. Economic Inequality is the reason why poverty is increasing, and equal opportunity is reducing.
1
Although social and political inequalities are the main reasons why African Americans are the poorest
in the country, economic inequality also has a part to play in this. It is commonly believed that people
s negligence make them go into poverty. 2The roles that social, economic and political systems play in
affecting people s standards of living are often overlooked.3 Although the equal rights act was passed
in 1964, African Americans still do not get the opportunities that white Americans get.4 In the country
today, African Americans get lower paying jobs compared to whites. According to Institute on
Research for Poverty, the rate of poverty of African Americans in the United States from 1959 2012 is
27.2% which is higher than any other race in the country.5

Victory In The Civil War
There are various factors that lead to victory. That s a fact for all competitions: battles and wars.
Motivation, environment, population, and resources seem to be the biggest factors. The War for
Independence, for example, was a war where most people could predict the outcome an overwhelming
British victory. However, the opposite happened. The people without a powerful government,
inexperienced soldiers, and a weak economy won. The British had a decent population and plenty of
resources, colonists, however, radiated motivation and fought the war on their own land. The situation
was different for the Civil War, though. Determination was shown by the South and the fight was on
their land, but the North excelled in population and resources.

The Nature Of Rome s Relationship
On the Nature of Rome s Relationship to the Individual and the Collective Livy s history tells in detail
the events that sum up to the life of Rome, from its inception to Augustus rule. Not a modern
historian, his writing is a milieu of transcribed cultural memory, creative narrative and more legitimate
historical writing. While there are undoubtedly moments of falsehood, it is equally true that Livy
captured many authentic historical facts in his work. In addition, this text became immensely popular
after its publishing, and so the vast audience the book enjoyed may have transformed literary fallacy
into accepted truth. What is certainly true is that Livy was writing in one of the most tumultuous

Livy s History portrays in early Rome the superior power of individuals over the collective in shaping
the world, their ability to enact change they themselves desire correlating to their consideration of the
collective s interest. Opposition to such a claim might make the correct observation that, over time,
power appears to dilute, slowly acquired by more and more of the populus romanus. kings make way
for consuls, patricians lose political monopolies to the plebs, etc. While the number of people with real
political power does in fact increase, collective action is almost never the impetus for any action in
Livy s writings. To start at the beginning, it is a series of kings transform an empty land to a sizeable
city state. After much warring, Numa established treaties and tempered the overly aggressive Roman
with religion (The Rise of Rome 24). Servius Tullius created the census, perhaps the greatest tool of
Roman governance (The Rise of Rome 50). But there was king Tarquinius Superbus. Not only did he

Willy Loman is a salesman who wants nothing more than the typical American Dream of riches,
success, and luxury but never gets that. He doesn t get along with his family considering they
complain he is never home and he doesn t think his kids will be successful in their lives. He s a very

Although he is very into his work and considers himself important in his job (he s not).
The Woman is not a major character but still important as she is Willy s mistress who Biff caught his
father sleeping with. That drove Biff to lose respect for his father and not want to do much with his
life.
The diamonds are a symbol of the wealth that Willy so badly craved but never received. It was seen as
the quickest way to be rich and solve all their problems. The hose that his wife found is a
foreshadowing of Willy s suicide, with attempts on the bridge and inhaling gas. The stockings were a
reminder of Willy s affair with The Woman and how he failed to please and respect his family.
Both flashbacks and foreshadowing are shown often in the book. The flashbacks are used so the
reader/audience knows the life before the play, considering it s only during one day. The
foreshadowing, including the rubber hose and Willy driving off a bridge, foreshadows Willy s

Analysis Of The Creation Of Art ( Encyclopedia Brittanica...
Mimesis: The basic theoretical principle in the creation of art (Encyclopedia Brittanica). Mimesis was
a term and principle used by both Plato and Aristotle. According to Plato, art is an imitation of and
imitation when compared to the forms. What he means by this is that an art creation is an imitation of
something physical, which in itself is an imitation of a form. Aristotle believes artist creations are an
imitation of an action . This is interpreted as art is the imitation of the action of life. Together they
both agree that artistic creations are imitations of the truth or imitations of the forms. Rather than
seeing artistic creations as imitations, I argue that art is an individuals perception of the forms, as well
as it is the closest an individual can come to comprehending the forms. The supporting reasons for this
argument include proving that the sensible are in fact artworks in their own way, that everyones
perception of the forms are different, and that art is the closest way of portraying our versions of the
forms. To begin, the Republic by Plato presents us with the allegory of the cave. In the cave there are
people who can only see shadows cast on the wall. The shadows are cast by puppeteers (the divine)
and the puppets that represent the forms or the real objects. To the prisoners or everyday man, these
shadows are interpretations or perceptions of the real. Without the ability to see the true objects, the
prisoners or everyday man can only understand

What Is The History Of The Colorado Labour Wars
1900 s
Colorado labor Wars: The Colorado labor wars were a series of labor strikes in 1903 and 1904 in the
US state of Colorado, by gold and silver miners and mill workers represented by the Western
Federation of Miners (WFM). Opposing the WFM were associations of mine owners and businessmen
at each location, supported by the Colorado state government. The strikes were notable and
controversial for the accompanying violence, and the imposition of martial law by the Colorado
National Guard in order to put down the strikes. A nearly simultaneous strike in Colorado s northern
and southern coal fields was also met with a military response by the Colorado National Guard.
Colorado s most significant battles between labor and capital occurred between

Emergency Department Crowding Essay
This article addresses the nationwide problem of crowding in the emergency department. Crowding in
the emergency department creates delays in care and has been proven to be most prevalent in urban
and teaching hospitals across the country. The authors infer that since the institution of the Emergency
Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) in 1986, record numbers of individuals seeking
care through the emergency department has skyrocketed. Patients either use the emergency
department as the first line of care or the last line of care. According to the study, uninsured members
of society are most likely to utilize the emergency department for care versus their sicker insured
counterparts. A survey conducted in 2010 by the American

Benjamin Franklin, the Father of Foreign Diplomacy Essay
Some people will argue that the true birth of United States of America started with George Washington
leading the Continental Army against Great Britain s royal army in pursuit of freedom from foreign
dictatorship; seizing the opportunity to create and control their own government in the manner in
which they sought fit. One of the major forces in this battle for freedom was the diplomatic travels of
Benjamin Franklin. His travels to England and France set the foundation for the dealings in foreign
diplomacy that are still in effect today. Without Benjamin Franklin s wisdom, knowledge and courage
to address Kings and Parliament on the behalf of the colonies, the American government, as we know
it would not exist.
Benjamin was born ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Upon his return to the colonies he was elected as the unofficial ambassador to England, and this
became a duty that he carried out for many years to come.
Over the next decade, hostilities grew between the colonies and England. Benjamin Franklin spent his
time as a delegate between the two lands and argued many of the colonies grievances toward Britain s
mistreatment. In 1765 at the age of 59, Franklin addressed Parliament regarding the Quartering Bill,
which allowed forceful housing of British soldiers in the homes of the Americans. He argued on
behalf of the colonies and Parliament amended the bill making the act illegal. During this same year,
Parliament passed the Stamp Act as a way of acquiring more money from the colonies. This is where
many of Benjamin Franklin s diplomatic duties began.
Franklin was called to testify in front of Parliment,
A questioner asked: Considering the resolutions of Parliament as to the right, do you think, if the
stamp act is repealed, that the North Americans will be satisfied?
Franklin responded: I think the resolutions of right will gibe them very little concern, if they are never
attempted to be carried into practice.
A adversary asked: If the stamp act should be repealed, would it induce the assemblies of America to
acknowledge the rights of Parliament to tax them, and would they erase their resolutions [of

Monopoly Of The United States Postal
MONOPOLY OF THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SEVICE
There are few remaining monopolies today. Apple and Wal Mart are both world renowned
monopolies. Another monopoly is the United States Postal Service. The United States Postal Service
is a natural monopoly in the delivery of first class mail, as 1970 s legislation prevents any other firms
from delivering letter mail. The reason for this was to allow one firm to specialize in mail delivery;
therefore being the most efficient way to ensure the rest of the country received their mail on time.
After all, receiving mail in a timely manner is critical for society to function. Imagine if everyone
received their bills and letters weeks late? However, the USPS has begun to face a dilemma in recent
years, in that it is seeing a sharp decline in revenue. Critics have called for several methods to help the
USPS cut its losses, one of which being privatization. Since a monopoly is the only seller of a good in
the market, the demand curve is the market demand curve. Therefore a monopoly has a downward
sloping demand curve, in contrast to the horizontal sloping demand curve of a firm in a competitive
market (Mankiw, 2014). Monopolies aim to find the profit maximizing price for its product. If a firm
is initially producing at a low level of output, marginal revenue exceeds marginal costs (Mankiw,
2014). Every time production increases by one unit, the marginal revenue increases again and is
greater than marginal costs (Mankiw, 2014). Therefore

Abortion Discussion Questions
The topic for this discussion board was initially intended to be about a specific interest group we
wanted to see go away, so perhaps we have gone beyond the purpose of the discussion board by
debating the morality of abortion itself. Despite this, I would like to continue the discussion because I
find it interesting.
I disagree with some of the inferences you seem to have drawn from my response. I did not imply that
all abortions are justified; in fact, I would personally advocate for stricter regulations on abortion.
Furthermore, I believe that your statement describing a fetus as merely a burden is an understatement
of the scenarios I was trying to describe. When a fetus threatens the life of the mother, I would
describe its presence as more than just a burden. However, this does not mean I necessarily support
abortion when a pregnancy results from personal irresponsibility. For that reason, I would like to
rephrase the last statement in my former response. Instead of saying that abortion is less often an issue
of personal responsibility, a more accurate representation of my opinion is to say that abortion should
less often be an issue of personal responsibility. I did not mean to describe how things currently are;
rather, I intended to explain how I feel things should be. I apologize for any confusion that may have
caused. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What that specific point should be, however, is certainly a gray area among most who share a similar
view. The specific points in fetal development that you listed would indeed be an important
consideration in deciding when exactly that point

III. Risk Factors There are several risk factors that put Joanne at High Risk for suicide. She states that
she did not want to stay and talk, but that she just wanted to go for a drive and has a gun in the car, so
she is at a high risk given the methods and accessibility to those methods (Jackson Cherry Erford,
2018). She has previous suicide attempts, while there is no time frame on when those prior attempts
took place, it places her in at a moderate risk at the very least (if 1 to 5 years ago) (Jackson Cherry
Erford, 2018). She does not report loneliness or hopelessness at this current moment, but given her
history of depression, past divorce and no significant other, admissions of guilt over an affair, having
no hobbies and getting all her satisfaction from work, it is likely that she has or current is experiencing
some level of loneliness, and her past attempts are potentially indicative of hopelessness; all these
factors put her at a minimum of a moderate risk, but further information would probably lead to a high
risk. The divorce, lack of relationship or mention of friendships does put the loneliness at a high risk
due to having limited support (Jackson Cherry Erford, 2018). There is no mention of substance abuse.
There is also no point that she states suicidal plans or ideation, but her behaviors show some ideation
present. Her risk factors for chance of intervention are dependent on

Writing In The Afterlife By Billy Collins
. There were many events that occurred between the 1940s and today in the world. However, in
America, a lot of the social issues were mostly dealing with sex, drugs, and alcohol. During the 1950s
and 1960s, the social trends consisted of supply and demand. The supply and demand caused for there
to be more entertainment as well as an increase in pay. A few types of entertainment pieces was the
first magazine of Playboy being issued, more talk about sex, drugs, and alcohol in songs and the radio
shows were transitioning to television shows. Due to the newspaper in New York City having
competition with the television company, the employees of the newspaper went on strike in 1953 for

Collins uses imagery in his poem Writing in the Afterlife in order to express his perception of the way
the afterlife looks. The poem, Writing in the Afterlife is about the narrator/speaker talking about their
perception of what heaven looks like to them. Then the poem goes into more precise detail as to the
narrator/speaker actually entering into heaven. The way Collins could possibly relate the poem to his
actual life is his perception of heaven, may have seen heaven in his past life, or someone he knows
may have seen heaven in their past life. But more towards the end of the poem, he compares mentions
his writing to be heavenly, in a sense because he mentions the writing is peaceful like heaven to him.
The way imagery relates to Collins poem, Writing in the Afterlife is by Collins describing heaven. For
example, Collins says, I imagined the atmosphere would be clear, / shot with pristine light,/..the air
ionized as before a thunderstorm./ (Lines 1, 2, 4). Collins may have also written this poem in order to
become at peace with the loss of his parents because he says, I knew I would not always be a child/
with a model train and a model tunnel/ (Lines 9 10). As a result, Collins is able to use imagery in order
to display his perception as well as his active imagination of heaven through his poem Writing in the
Afterlife (Poetry Foundation 2002). (Transition

The World Of 1984 Scared Me
Total surveillance. Complete obedience. Absolute authority. The world of 1984 scared me when I first
read the book last year. Never before had a book made me think so deeply about individuality, society,
and government. 1984, a manifestation of my nightmares, described a totalitarian police state of
resolute submission. The horror came when I looked upon our own society, and Big Brother glared
back at me. We live in a world where every phone call, every text, every search, and every email can
be monitored and recorded by our own government. The National Security Agency, or the NSA, was
originally proposed to monitor threats outside of the United States, but the NSA began domestic
surveillance shortly after the horrific terror attacks of 2001. This cleared the way for warrantless,
unlawful tracking of American citizens. Initially, the program collected only the data of high risk
individuals in America with direct links to Al Qaeda. Now, however, government data collection has
spread to millions of otherwise innocent citizens. Government surveillance is a direct violation of the
privacy of American citizens that is dangerous, immoral, and unlawful.
It is important to realize the dangers of government surveillance; personal information containing
sensitive details about an individual s private life put in the wrong hands or otherwise used incorrectly
could potentially have disastrous repercussions. In today s interconnected world, everything that is

Anti-Semitism In France
Many examinations of World War II begin with what if as an attempt at better understanding the
consequences of the events. However, if the primary source materials that are available remain
unexamined, whether in part or as a whole, then the consequences of the event remain slightly out of
reach. Such is the case of the German occupation of France during World War II. France fell and
surrendered to German forces in June of 1940. The French and German armistice agreed to separate
the nation into two zones, the northern Occupied Zone and the southern Unoccupied Zone, which was
also known as the Free Zone. France s fledgling Vichy government controlled the south and the
German government controlled the north along the Demarcation Line. During the war, France lost
roughly 567,600 lives, more than half of which were civilians. However, it was not until the mid
1990s when the French President, Jacques Chirac, confessed to the French responsibility of those lives
lost, that French culpability was truly studied by scholars. Historians have argued both before and
after the 1990s that the French were either collaborating with the Nazis or accommodating them as a
means of preserving their identity. However, prior to the confession France had kept many documents
unavailable to scholars and the general public, making a thorough examination of life in ... Show more

Symbolism In Woman At Point Zero
Woman at Point Zero Through Symbolism
The main point of clarification and interpretation in the story Woman at Point Zero is symbolism.
More specifically, symbolism in the story represents a reference, emotion, or an object that provides a
meaning that goes up and beyond the written meaning. From the contemporary feminist perspective,
the author Nawal El Saadawis uses the narrative speeches and symbolism to express and demonstrate
the fight and the struggle of women under marginalization and alienation. Furthermore, the reflection
in the defiance and the complexities that override the behavior of the protagonists has found its way in
the modern world. Similarly, the reflection on the story Woman at Point Zero provides a clear
reference to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In light of the above statement, the narrator alludes that only the woman has the power to determine
her value and not the man. Furthermore, Sharifa tells Firdaus that the higher she prices herself, the
more her worth increases (Saadawi 57). On the other hand, she realizes that the value of her body to
men has a monetary value attached to it. Since men desired pleasure in the novel, she had an innate
advantage when the men depended on her. Her value improved as she strengthened and continued to
build her self esteem; therefore, the more confident she felt, the more value of price she added to her
services. Intriguingly, the author uses narration to demonstrate symbolism and express a
comprehensive understanding of the predicament of women in the novel. For instance, Firdaus tears
the money just to demonstrate that money had little power over her at the time because of the
transformation she had undertaken to improve her value (Saadawi 49). Still, she wants to be paid for
more than the money for the job she does. What s more, Firdaus wants the society to recognize her as
a strong

to attain success. The team process plays three critical roles which are: converts the team s charter and

behaviors (Wong, 2010). Therefore team process is an activity when team is performing tasks to attain

The team process happens in all the stages of team development and helps the team members to
complete their tasks in an effective way (Engleberg Wynn, 2012) Five Stages of Team Development
The team development takes place in five stages. Bruce Tuckman had conducted research on various
teams and given the five stages of team development. The team process can be observed in all the five
stages of team development. The five stages of Tuckman are: 1. Forming: The forming stage of
development is a period of orientation and getting acquainted. Members break the ice and test one
another for friendship possibilities and task orientation. Uncertainty is high during this stage, and
members usually accept whatever power or authority is offered by either formal or informal leaders.
During this initial stage, members are concerned about such things as What is expected of me? What
behavior is acceptable? Will I fit in? During the forming stage, the team leader should provide time for
members to get acquainted with one another and encourage them to engage in informal social
discussions (Engleberg Wynn, 2012). 2. Storming: During the storming stage, individual personalities
emerge. People become more assertive in clarifying their roles and what is expected of them. This
stage is marked by conflict and disagreement. People may disagree over their perceptions of the team
s goals or how to achieve them. Members may jockey for position, and

Generation X Argumentative Essay
Day after day I sit and watch the shocking news of the current events occurring around the world. I
wonder how people s minds have developed, the way they comprehend, and what words emerge from
their mouth when they finally speak. I believe my thoughts, morals, and beliefs, are rational but doesn
t everyone? No one sits around and says to themselves, my thinking is irrational, and I am crazy for
thinking this way. Certain people may believe at a particular moment that whatever they are doing is
appropriate right then, but later realize their rational at that moment was not ok, like a child stealing a

Suddenly watching Bugs Bunny or the Coyote chasing down the Road Runner are no longer
acceptable cartoons because they don t teach and in fact, may inflict violence. Barney, Caillou, and
Dora the Explorer became the norm for cartoon watching because they were educational for the
children. Spanking is no longer allowed because it makes the child feel worthless and is a form of
abuse. Every child receives a ribbon, no child is inferior to another, and we no longer yell at them, but
discuss and teach, which of course gives the child the authority to debate the situation. Unfortunately,
it also has led these same teens and young adults to believe that they can do whatever they want and if
they don t like an adult s response to their behavior, they yell abuse. We have witnessed this happen
over and over again with our teachers, with the police and with the community in general. People used
to say that it takes a village to raise a child, however, if anyone, besides the parents, tries to correct a
child for anything, that person is cruel, and harassing. Again, this shows the difference in how parents
raised their children; therefore Conservatives now call them the Snowflake

  • 2. Midsummer Night s Dream Allusions In William Shakespeare s Midsummer Night s Dream there are various literary devices displayed throughout the play, in particular Act 2 Scene 1. Many pictures, quotes and short descriptions are able to depict these attributes and are displayed within the collage. One of the few purposes of this scene in the play is to introduce the fairies to the audience. This is important as the fairy s play a large role in propelling the plot forward to its conclusion. The fairies are derived from characters familiar to English folklore and are some of the most memorable characters in Shakespeare s Midsummers Night s Dream. Shakespeare uses poetic imagery as a way to develop the fairies characters as a group and to grant to audience greater understanding of the play. This allusion speaks to the chase of life; it speaks about Apollo who takes his chariot from the beginning to the end of the day caring the sun across the horizon. By pausing at words that the students do not know and breaking them down the students will gain experience that will allow them to work on this practice independently. We set this up as a gradual release of responsibility, beginning the exercise with a teacher model of how to break down a word. We will then break down a list of words into parts and have students repeat these breakdowns before practicing it themselves. Before diving into the reading, we will go over sentences that have these practice words and have the student, together, repeating the sentences after us. This ensures that students gain practice reading the word in sentences, rather than as an individual word before performing their whisper reads. We included whisper reading as the during reading activity, to give students a chance to read independently but without the pressure of having an audience. As they read to themselves, students will pause at words they are struggling to pronounce and break them apart, at this point we will continue guiding students through this process, in order ensure that motivation is not lost when students feel challenged. To gauge the learnings of the students, we will have each student chose one word that they struggle with and create a master list, the students will practice pronouncing their individual words and receive clarifying definitions if necessary. The students will then create their own sentence using this word, practice it through whisper readings, and then share it aloud with the group. This process creates a learning experience where students are able to practice not only their phonics skills but also work on comprehension. • 6. Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. Essay This case involves the improperly represented earnings by Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. during the fourth quarter of fiscal year (FY) 2003 and each quarter of FY 2004. The company used improper accounting methods to avoid lowering its earnings during that period. Krispy Kreme also fraudulently reported its earnings per share (EPS) throughout that time, which exceeded the previously stated EPS by 1 percent. An agreement to settle the charges against Krispy Kreme was reached on March 4, 2009 when the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued a cease and desist order. The SEC cited Krispy Kreme for three round trip transactions, which involved the company paying money to a franchise with an understanding that the franchise would later repay the money in a planned method. This would allow Krispy Kreme to record extra pretax income in an amount that was nearly equal to the money that was initially paid to the franchisee. The first transaction resulted in additional net income of $365,000 after taxes. The second resulted in overstatement of $310,000 after taxes, while the third resulted in an overstatement of $361,000 after taxes. Further accounting anomalies were discovered during the testimony of a former sales manager at a store in Ohio. A regional sales manager instructed that double orders would be sent out on the last Friday and Saturday of FY 2004 to increase the sales of Krispy Kreme in the fiscal year to meet the projections of Wall Street. • 12. The Hazards of Coal Use The Hazards of Coal Use: Coal has been combusted for fuel for thousands of years. However it was not until the last few decades that the consequences of coal use have been fully realized and effort has been taken to lessen the severe environmental harm that can come from the combustion of coal. The fact of the matter is no matter how much we may dislike coal and the detrimental effects of it we, as a nation, depend on coal to live our lives. When we flip a switch and a light turns on we don t give it a second thought but its not always that simple. Aside from coal s significant contribution to climate change there have been other disasters stemming from coal and specifically the storage of contaminants extracted from coal combustion. One of the biggest man made environmental disasters of the millennia occurred just outside of Kingston, Tennessee in late 2008. This disaster though not as well publicized as many other disasters has been estimated to have released over 5.4 million cubic yards of coal ash several times more contaminants by volume than the Exxon Valdeez oil spill in 1989 (Initial Emergency). Clean Coal Similar to most coal fired power plants in the United Stated today the Kingston Fossil Plant in Tennessee utilized various scrubbers , which effectively separated flue ash, also known as fly ash, a byproduct of the coal combustion process. Through the use of scrubbers fly ash is separated from the flue gases released into the atmosphere. Fly ash is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Analysis Of The Creation Of Art ( Encyclopedia Brittanica... Mimesis: The basic theoretical principle in the creation of art (Encyclopedia Brittanica). Mimesis was a term and principle used by both Plato and Aristotle. According to Plato, art is an imitation of and imitation when compared to the forms. What he means by this is that an art creation is an imitation of something physical, which in itself is an imitation of a form. Aristotle believes artist creations are an imitation of an action . This is interpreted as art is the imitation of the action of life. Together they both agree that artistic creations are imitations of the truth or imitations of the forms. Rather than seeing artistic creations as imitations, I argue that art is an individuals perception of the forms, as well as it is the closest an individual can come to comprehending the forms. The supporting reasons for this argument include proving that the sensible are in fact artworks in their own way, that everyones perception of the forms are different, and that art is the closest way of portraying our versions of the forms. To begin, the Republic by Plato presents us with the allegory of the cave. In the cave there are people who can only see shadows cast on the wall. The shadows are cast by puppeteers (the divine) and the puppets that represent the forms or the real objects. • 26. Monopoly Of The United States Postal MONOPOLY OF THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SEVICE There are few remaining monopolies today. Apple and Wal Mart are both world renowned monopolies. Another monopoly is the United States Postal Service. The United States Postal Service is a natural monopoly in the delivery of first class mail, as 1970 s legislation prevents any other firms from delivering letter mail. The reason for this was to allow one firm to specialize in mail delivery; therefore being the most efficient way to ensure the rest of the country received their mail on time. After all, receiving mail in a timely manner is critical for society to function. Imagine if everyone received their bills and letters weeks late? However, the USPS has begun to face a dilemma in recent years, in that it is seeing a sharp decline in revenue. Critics have called for several methods to help the USPS cut its losses, one of which being privatization. Since a monopoly is the only seller of a good in the market, the demand curve is the market demand curve. Therefore a monopoly has a downward sloping demand curve, in contrast to the horizontal sloping demand curve of a firm in a competitive market (Mankiw, 2014). Monopolies aim to find the profit maximizing price for its product. If a firm is initially producing at a low level of output, marginal revenue exceeds marginal costs (Mankiw, 2014). Every time production increases by one unit, the marginal revenue increases again and is greater than marginal costs (Mankiw, 2014). Therefore ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Despite this, I would like to continue the discussion because I find it interesting. I disagree with some of the inferences you seem to have drawn from my response. I did not imply that all abortions are justified; in fact, I would personally advocate for stricter regulations on abortion. Furthermore, I believe that your statement describing a fetus as merely a burden is an understatement of the scenarios I was trying to describe. When a fetus threatens the life of the mother, I would describe its presence as more than just a burden. However, this does not mean I necessarily support abortion when a pregnancy results from personal irresponsibility. For that reason, I would like to rephrase the last statement in my former response. Instead of saying that abortion is less often an issue of personal responsibility, a more accurate representation of my opinion is to say that abortion should less often be an issue of personal responsibility. I did not mean to describe how things currently are; rather, I intended to explain how I feel things should be. I apologize for any confusion that may have caused. ... Never before had a book made me think so deeply about individuality, society, and government. 1984, a manifestation of my nightmares, described a totalitarian police state of resolute submission. The horror came when I looked upon our own society, and Big Brother glared back at me. We live in a world where every phone call, every text, every search, and every email can be monitored and recorded by our own government. The National Security Agency, or the NSA, was originally proposed to monitor threats outside of the United States, but the NSA began domestic surveillance shortly after the horrific terror attacks of 2001. This cleared the way for warrantless, unlawful tracking of American citizens. Initially, the program collected only the data of high risk individuals in America with direct links to Al Qaeda. Now, however, government data collection has spread to millions of otherwise innocent citizens. Government surveillance is a direct violation of the privacy of American citizens that is dangerous, immoral, and unlawful. It is important to realize the dangers of government surveillance; personal information containing sensitive details about an individual s private life put in the wrong hands or otherwise used incorrectly could potentially have disastrous repercussions. In today s interconnected world, everything that is said and done online is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Anti-Semitism In France Many examinations of World War II begin with what if as an attempt at better understanding the consequences of the events. However, if the primary source materials that are available remain unexamined, whether in part or as a whole, then the consequences of the event remain slightly out of reach. Such is the case of the German occupation of France during World War II. France fell and surrendered to German forces in June of 1940. The French and German armistice agreed to separate the nation into two zones, the northern Occupied Zone and the southern Unoccupied Zone, which was also known as the Free Zone. France s fledgling Vichy government controlled the south and the German government controlled the north along the Demarcation Line. During the war, France lost roughly 567,600 lives, more than half of which were civilians. However, it was not until the mid 1990s when the French President, Jacques Chirac, confessed to the French responsibility of those lives lost, that French culpability was truly studied by scholars. Historians have argued both before and after the 1990s that the French were either collaborating with the Nazis or accommodating them as a means of preserving their identity. However, prior to the confession France had kept many documents unavailable to scholars and the general public, making a thorough examination of life in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1939, Prime Minister Édouard Daladier attempted to curb growing anti Semitism in France by endorsed the Marchandeau Law. Though the Marchandeau Law did not specifically address residents of Jewish faith, it clarified that a person could not be attacked based on religious beliefs or anything similar, particularly in the media. • 35. Symbolism In Woman At Point Zero Woman at Point Zero Through Symbolism The main point of clarification and interpretation in the story Woman at Point Zero is symbolism. More specifically, symbolism in the story represents a reference, emotion, or an object that provides a meaning that goes up and beyond the written meaning. From the contemporary feminist perspective, the author Nawal El Saadawis uses the narrative speeches and symbolism to express and demonstrate the fight and the struggle of women under marginalization and alienation. Furthermore, the reflection in the defiance and the complexities that override the behavior of the protagonists has found its way in the modern world. Similarly, the reflection on the story Woman at Point Zero provides a clear reference to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In light of the above statement, the narrator alludes that only the woman has the power to determine her value and not the man. Furthermore, Sharifa tells Firdaus that the higher she prices herself, the more her worth increases (Saadawi 57). On the other hand, she realizes that the value of her body to men has a monetary value attached to it. Since men desired pleasure in the novel, she had an innate advantage when the men depended on her. Her value improved as she strengthened and continued to build her self esteem; therefore, the more confident she felt, the more value of price she added to her services. Intriguingly, the author uses narration to demonstrate symbolism and express a comprehensive understanding of the predicament of women in the novel. For instance, Firdaus tears the money just to demonstrate that money had little power over her at the time because of the transformation she had undertaken to improve her value (Saadawi 49). Still, she wants to be paid for more than the money for the job she does. What s more, Firdaus wants the society to recognize her as a strong ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Team Process And Team Development Team Process and Team Development Submitted by Your name Course title Instructor name Date of submission University name Team Development Process in Selected Organization A team can be defined as two or more freely interacting individuals who share collective norms and have a common identity (Kreitner, Kinicki, Cole, 2007). The team process is an important factor which helps the team to attain success. The team process plays three critical roles which are: converts the team s charter and work plan into actions, influences individuals and team behaviors and helps to reveal the intent behind behaviors (Wong, 2010). Therefore team process is an activity when team is performing tasks to attain the team goals. For example in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The team process happens in all the stages of team development and helps the team members to complete their tasks in an effective way (Engleberg Wynn, 2012) Five Stages of Team Development The team development takes place in five stages. Bruce Tuckman had conducted research on various teams and given the five stages of team development. The team process can be observed in all the five stages of team development. The five stages of Tuckman are: 1. Forming: The forming stage of development is a period of orientation and getting acquainted. Members break the ice and test one another for friendship possibilities and task orientation. Uncertainty is high during this stage, and members usually accept whatever power or authority is offered by either formal or informal leaders. During this initial stage, members are concerned about such things as What is expected of me? What behavior is acceptable? Will I fit in? During the forming stage, the team leader should provide time for members to get acquainted with one another and encourage them to engage in informal social discussions (Engleberg Wynn, 2012). 2. Storming: During the storming stage, individual personalities emerge. People become more assertive in clarifying their roles and what is expected of them. This stage is marked by conflict and disagreement. People may disagree over their perceptions of the team s goals or how to achieve them. Members may jockey for position, and ... • 37. Generation X Argumentative Essay Day after day I sit and watch the shocking news of the current events occurring around the world. I wonder how people s minds have developed, the way they comprehend, and what words emerge from their mouth when they finally speak. I believe my thoughts, morals, and beliefs, are rational but doesn t everyone? No one sits around and says to themselves, my thinking is irrational, and I am crazy for thinking this way. Certain people may believe at a particular moment that whatever they are doing is appropriate right then, but later realize their rational at that moment was not ok, like a child stealing a candy bar. One type of child might get ill from taking that chocolate, and end up throwing it away to punish themselves; however, another child ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Suddenly watching Bugs Bunny or the Coyote chasing down the Road Runner are no longer acceptable cartoons because they don t teach and in fact, may inflict violence. Barney, Caillou, and Dora the Explorer became the norm for cartoon watching because they were educational for the children. Spanking is no longer allowed because it makes the child feel worthless and is a form of abuse. Every child receives a ribbon, no child is inferior to another, and we no longer yell at them, but discuss and teach, which of course gives the child the authority to debate the situation. Unfortunately, it also has led these same teens and young adults to believe that they can do whatever they want and if they don t like an adult s response to their behavior, they yell abuse. We have witnessed this happen over and over again with our teachers, with the police and with the community in general. People used to say that it takes a village to raise a child, however, if anyone, besides the parents, tries to correct a child for anything, that person is cruel, and harassing. Again, this shows the difference in how parents raised their children; therefore Conservatives now call them the Snowflake ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
