The Sexual Orientation Of Parents
The sexual orientation of parents, once having a child, does not negatively affect the development of
their children. In order to first be a parent, one must obtain a child. However, in Florida, gay foster
parents were not allowed to adopt the children they fostered due to the Gay Adoption Ban (Goldberg).
Homosexuals were not legally able to adopt a child at all until the forty year old ban was lifted July,
2015 by Governor Rick Scott (Associated Press). Prior to the lifting of the gay adoption ban, female
same sex couples could build their families via DI, as opposed to male couples, whose reproductive
options were more limited... surrogacy is very expensive (Goldberg 117). Adoption is usually a first
option for gay couples due to the inability to reproduce through traditional means. The second, and
much more expensive options are insemination for women, and surrogacy for men. Without the option
of adoption, many gay couples are not able to have the right to raise a child. Furthermore, the
difficulties homosexual couples have to acquire a child make it almost impossible to exercise that
right. However, once having a child, he or she is cared for just as any other heterosexual couple would
care for a child. The development of children raised by homosexual couples is not significantly
different from that raised by heterosexual couples. Children whose parents are gay or lesbian have no
more problems with self esteem, psychological adjustment, intellectual capacity,

Essay On Advantages And Disadvantages Of Thailand
3.1.3 More advantages of Thailand
According to our research, we think that Thailand can provide a huge clean energy market for our
company mainly from four aspects:
1)Relations between Thailand and Philippines:
The bilateral relations between Thailand and Philippines will continue to be strengthened through
talks and agreements on economic, trades and security. (The Philstar, 2012). Johanna (2012) reported
that the previous JCBC had led to an agreement between Thailand and Philippines governments to set
up energy forums and cooperation on education.
2)Government policy:
lThe Energy Ministry will propose a promotion strategy on biomass energy production to the National
Energy Policy Committee, said Secretary for Energy, Areepong Bhoocha Oom. (Thailand News,
2015)
lThailand strongly encourages overseas clean energy company to develop here. Therefore, the
government provides some policy incentives to relax the ownership restrictions under the Foreign
Business Law. (Investment Climate Statement Thailand, 2012)

According to Thailand Ministry of Energy, Department of Alternative Energy Development and
Efficiency(2015), Thailand as a whole has great solar potential, especially central and northeastern
area. Wilcox (2012) showed that solar power in Thailand was targeted to reach 95 MW by 2016 and
500 MW by 2022. Therefore, we plan to expand solar energy market for further development in
Thailand.
4.2 Win Win situation
Because China ASEAN Investment Cooperation Fund (CAF) has recently signed the definitive
documents with National Power Supply Public Co. Ltd (NPS), we can get closer to China through
cooperating with NPS. Thus, it is a win win opportunity that not only allows us to help NPS to
improve production and make more profits, but also to build a friendly relationship with China and
obtain the investment from CAF in the future.

Barrios In The Movie Barrio
Poverty, drugs, prostitution, and theft may not be a common occurrence seen by the average person,
but for those individuals who live in housing projects, it is second hand nature. A housing project is a
government subsidized housing development that provides low rent for low income households. These
developments are usually considered as ghettos; in Spanish they are referred to as barrios . Spanish
film director and screenwriter, Fernando Leon de Aranoa, gives audiences a better understanding of
the hardships that are faced in his film Barrio. Living in such tough conditions, it would be hard for
anyone to prosper, but it becomes even more difficult for teenagers to resist the evils that surround
them everyday, the future is bleak and to escape it is almost impossible. The film Barrio, is about three
friends Javi, Manu, and Rai, who live in a small neighborhood on the outskirts of Madrid, Spain. All
the boys come from poor families and are stuck in their neighborhood during the summer, a time ...

blank. Cocaine is introduced in the film when Rai meets up with his drug supplier in a restaurant. Javi
and Manu accompany Rai but are unaware of what is happening. When the boys are leaving the
restaurant, they are swarmed by police. The police find the cocaine on Rai. During this scene the
camera is focused on Rai and Javi. Rai s face is being pressed against the police car and at that
moment, Javi sees that his childhood friend has been involved in selling drugs. This is the point in the
film that shows the neighborhood that the boys live in has affected one of

A Report On The Neighborhood Family Clinic
This paper will discuss the Neighborhood Family Clinic in the Madison which is a free standing
facility that the facility planning committee has decided to renovate to accommodate the growing
community that the facility current serves. The facility planning committee has provided
considerations that have regulatory requirements that could have an effect on the design and
equipment that will be placed in the renovated facility. These regulatory requirements may require the
design of the facility to change based on exam room size, location and placement of certain
equipment.
Regulatory requirements and their effect on design and equipment
The regulatory requirements and their effect on design and equipment in the renovation of the
Neighborhood Family Clinic are the environmental regulations on both the federal and state levels
regarding the renovation, expansion, equipment, design, and operation of the facility
(www.eesolutions.net, n. d.). Per the Facility Guidelines and The American Institute of Architects
Academy of Architecture for Health the Guidelines for Design and Construction of Health Care
Facilities are updated every four years. Subsequently, once the decision to renovate or start new
construction is reached the building committee must be aware that these guidelines set the minimum
standards for American health care facility designs and give design and health care professionals
guidance on emerging trends and good practices (www.eesolutions.net, n. d.). When

The Black Panther Party And The Civil Rights Movement
By 1966, 32% of African Americans were living below the poverty line, and almost 2/3 of people
living in poor urban areas were Black. The Black Panther Party was a socialist and Black nationalist
organization that was founded 51 years ago to address these issues among others. The organization,
which had a far left political position, lasted for merely 16 years and its influence continues to impact
the world up till this day. It was the largest Black revolutionary organization to ever exist. Founded by
Bobby Seale and Huey Newton, the party began in October 1966 in Oakland, California. The BPP s
original purpose was to protect fellow citizens against police brutality in African American
neighborhoods. Marked by social service programs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Newton was a political activist who earned a Ph.D. in social philosophy. The duo met at Meritt Junior
College in West Oakland, California and both were part of the Soul Students Advisory Committee.
Ultimately, their experiences and stances, along with the ideology of Malcolm X, influenced the Black
Panther Party platform. In October of 1966, Seale and Newton sat down and wrote their first program
for the party. The 10 Point Program, titled What We Want, What We Believe, demands freedom, full
employment, guaranteed income, justice of racial robbery, decent living, better education, black men
to be exempt from military service, end of police brutality, and the release of black men in jail due to
unfair or lack of trials. The 10th point sets it demands out clearly by stating We want land, bread,
housing, education, clothing, justice, and peace. In a quote from Huey P. Newton from November
1970, Newton describes the shift from a nationhood stance to a revolutionary stance in the beginning
of the party. In 1966 we called ourselves a Black Nationalist Party because we thought nationhood
was the answer, says Newton, ...shortly after we decided that what was really needed was
revolutionary nationalism, that is, nationalism plus socialism. According to the Socialist Alternative,
the BPP grew to 5,000 party workers at its peak in the late 1960s, and organized 45 branches across
the country. The party took

How Did Morgan Spurlock Change Over Time
Morgan Spurlock had changed a great deal over 30 days of eating only fast food. For 30 days, he had
to eat three McDonald s meals per day and had to supersize his meal when offered. Obviously, he
could only eat what Mcdo offered on the menu. His health of course deteriorated, but his morale also
took a blow.
First, Spurlock gained weight. In total, after a month of fast food he had gained 11,1 kg. His body
mass had increased by 13 percent and his body fat by 7 percent. In terms of BMI (body mass index),
which is defined as the individual s body mass divided by the square of their height, he went from
23,8 to 26,94. On the BMI scale, he went from normal to overweight.
Next, concerning his health, the results were frightening. Even the doctors

someone repeated the process we used in class. Include at least 10 marble rolls. Make sure that there
would enough evidence to estimate the size, shape, and location of the object. Explain your rationale
in between 5 7 sentences. Based on the path of the marbles in the diagram, there is enough evidence to
estimate the size of the shape, based on where the marble bounces off of the shape and where the
marble rolls past the shape. You can also use this method to determine the approximate location of the
shape. In the diagram that I drew, you would be able to determine that the shape isn t located towards

In what ways did this activity represent a model for Rutherford s efforts to determine the structure of
the atom? What type of thinking and evidence (direct or indirect) were necessary in order to draw
conclusions in both situations? This activity is a model for Rutherford s experiments to determine the
structure of the atom because in the activity, we rolled a marble towards a shape that we could not see
in order to determine its size, shape, and location, just as Rutherford observed how particles bounced
off of or went through a sheet of gold foil, in order to determine the size, shape, and properties of
atoms. We used the angles at which the marble bounced off of the shape in order to determine the
properties of that shape in our activity, and in Rutherford s experiments, he observed how the particles
bounced off of or went through the gold foil, in order to determine the atom s properties. Also, we
used a piece of cardboard to cover our target because Rutherford was not able to see the atoms that he
was studying. In order to draw conclusions in both situations, you need to determine what makes the
marble or particle roll or travel the way it does. For example, in the experiments, if the particle went
straight through the gold leaf and in our activity, if the marble rolls straight through the cardboard, you
can infer that the particles and the marble didn t hit the target. However, if the marble or particle
bounced off of the target at an angle, you need to be able to use those angles to determine what shape
and size the target is and where it is

Materialistic Values Associated With The American Dream
Please respond with at least five sentences for each.
What is the American Dream? How is it characteristic of American ideals and philosophy? What are
the differences between the materialistic and the idealistic values associated with the American
Dream?
The American Dream is the idea that everyone can have an equal opportunity to obtain success as long
as they are determined and work hard. It is characteristic of American ideals and philosophy because it
directly reflects with how U.S citizens feel a need for equality, freedom, liberty, and democracy.
Common materialistic values associated with the American Dream are the need for a nice house,
several cars, and money to spend. The idealistic values are that just by working hard anyone can
achieve anything. This isn t always true. Sometimes certain things are unattainable, depending on a
citizen s financial, physical, or emotional status. Though if the person is determined they can change
their status.

This occupation isn t like others because the success of the sales aren t just based on how the salesman
works, but also the customers attitude. Sometimes a customer may not be interested or lose interest
quickly. This makes a salesman s job harder because they must pay close attention to their customers
and form correct reactions. A successful salesman must know how to persuade their customers, yet
aren t too pushy. The salesman must make the customer feel comfortable and feel a need to buy what
they are selling. The greatest thing to remember is that a salesman must be understanding with
customers. If the customers say the price is too high or that they don t want the product, the salesman
must stay kind to the customer. If not they might never buy a product from them or hinder any their

The And Non Living Things
Because many students find history to be boring, I would make it more fun by making it a hands on
activity. So if I were covering the MDE kindergarten history standard K EI.0.1, recognize situations in
which people trade, I would give each student a different object and have them practice their bartering
skills (Standards, 2015). Since some students will not want to trade their items, it will be my job to
encourage them to trade items anyway so that they can experience what it is like for people to barter
and trade. My encouraging in this situation would act as the supporting act, helping students reach the
goal of trading. Science is already a pretty hands on subject for teacher to cover, however, since

Both Vygotsky and Piaget s theories about how children develop cognitively, directly relate to a
constructivist view of learning. Give 5 ways these 2 theorists relate to a constructivist view of
learning. Be specific with examples. There are five ways in which Piaget s theory of cognitive
development and Vygotsky s theory of the Zone of Proximal Development. The very first way that
teachers can use these theories to teach constructively is by providing scaffolded instruction within the
ZPD for their students (Snowman and McCown, 2013). In other words, a teacher must be able to
assist children in achieving a goal that may be slightly too difficult for them to reach alone. An
example of this would be if a teacher had decided that her class should do an experiment on how well
plants grow based on the amount of water they receive, she could challenge her students to make a
hypothesis about what they think will happen. This teacher could allow her students to individually
plant their seeds and then guiding her students to predict or hypothesize what they believe will happen
if one plant gets more water than another. This example directly correlates with Vygotsky s idea of
ZPD because the students do not know how to use the scientific method for a science experiment,
however, with the teacher s assistance, they were able to fully complete it. A second avenue that
educators can take when wishing to instruct constructively is by providing their students with

The Persian Empire Essay
THE PERSIAN EMPIRE Similar to the Roman Empire the Persian Empire stretched across vast lands
without any serious rivalry. At the height of the empire it stretched across, not only, Asia, from the
Aegean to the Indus River, but also included part of the continent of Africa. We get the word, Persia,
from the Greek word Parsa meaning, Above reproach . The Persians unlike most other Empires would
be ruled under a benevolent ruler. This would bring a large amount of cultural diffusion to the Empire.
The empires history is separated into three historical periods: Old Persia (600 300 B.C.E), Middle
Persia (300 800 B.C.E.) and modern Persia (800 Present). The height or the Empire was reached

How Did John Locke Influence Society
Who gave us new ways of thinking and played a role in the foundation of our country? There are
many people that influenced our country and gave new ways of thinking, but there are a few
unexpected players that most do not acknowledge and appreciate. The Enlightenment was a period in
time from 1685 1815, where there was a drastic change in people s views towards subjects such as
philosophy, politics and science. It was an extension of the progress of the Reformation and the
Renaissance. It did this by continuing to extinguish the medieval perspectives towards life which were
that the church ruled over every aspect of life and people were restricted. New ways of thinking came
into play such as equality, logic, and freedom from the church, ... Show more content on

John Locke comparatively had more of a positive spin on things than Hobbes. Locke proposed the
thought that all people were born with natural rights, these natural rights being life, liberty, and
property. The government should agree to serve the people and make sure that they would be provided
with these rights. Locke urged if these rights had not been met by the government, the people had the
right to rebel and overthrow the government. Locke s theory got a lot of attention because as he said in
his book Second Treatise of Government that New opinions are always suspected, and usually
opposed, without any reason but because they are not common. He feels that government was
unnecessary because in his perspective, everyone was born with a clean slate and that if someone was
evil, it was the world that made them evil they were not born that way. John Locke s views influenced
famous documents, including the Declaration of Independence. In the Declaration of Independence it
includes Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, which is based on John Locke s interpretation of
life that humans were all born as almost a blank page with no identity and the world and their lives
create their interests, intentions and everyone was given the power to the basic rights of

Elements Of Poetry In Ask MeBy Arakida Moritage
1. In Ask me by William Stafford (376), the element of poetry that stands out most for me is didactic
poetry. William starts with Some time when the river is ice ask me mistakes I have made. grabbing
reader s attention towards the issue he is discussing in his poem. Some people stood with him during
difficult times, some didn t ask me what difference their strongest love or hate has made. But, that
doesn t make any difference. We know the current is there, hidden; and there are comings and goings
from miles away that hold the stillness exactly before us. everyone has the potential to solve their
problems. Stafford is addressing that people solve their own problems. This makes them strong. 2. In
The falling flower by Arakida Moritake (438), the element that stands out most for in the poem is
imagery. The poem sparks the person with its set of unusual images. The poet triggers the image of a
flower falling from the tree The falling flower . And that flower flies back to the tree in the form of a
butterfly. I saw drift back to the branch Was a butterfly . Arakida is discussing the birth of a butterfly
by his vivid imagery. 3. In The Wayfarer by Stephen Crane (381), the element that stands out most for
me is tone. The tone of the poet towards this poem is judgemental. The vagabond who is choosing the
path is surprised to see the heavily grown path It was thickly grown with weeds. . It occurs to him that
one has taken this path I see that none has passed

The Importance Of The Second Amendment To The United...
Do you know what function the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution actually serves?
No, it is not so that people can go hunting or protect themselves against personal assault. Neither is it a
stupid, brainless provision that some lamebrain slipped into the Constitution.
Like a shield of freedom, it is one of the primary reasons that the United States Constitution still
stands.
As one who is not a gun owner, I treasure the Second Amendment. It is one of our best safeguards
against tyranny, not from foreign governments, but from our own.
This amendment reads, A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the
right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
The militia written of here is a volunteer army that basically provides its own weapons. That is, these
are soldiers who are already armed, who already have their own guns.
In The Federalist Papers, the authors wrote of concerns that a standing army could lead to tyranny
(loss of freedom), so the Second Amendment was conceived in such a way that the U.S. could have an
army at need, and would not have to have a large standing army. This was so that the national
government would not threaten our freedom. (Trust me; it s in there.)
There are historical examples of governments wanting to tighten their controls over the people, so
they went out and disarmed the people (like the sword hunt in Japan), or made it illegal for them to
own weapons (there are

Violence In The Wasps
It did not matter if the group was violent or not, the WASPs would find a way to attach each
immigrant group to some sort of violent activity. Starting with the Irish, this group had a number of
ways that WASPs were able to show them as violent. One of the main occupations that Irish men took

entertainment to the elite. In order to maintain this sport, many natives would become managers to
ensure the Irishmen were able to attend the best fights. The Chinese were also another group who

We began to take a seat as close to the rear as possible, when Mary Katherine pointed out that we were
clearly on the women s side of the temple. The other two male students and I realizing our lack
observational skill turned around and exited back through the shoe room, and into the lobby. There I
thought it would be best to stop in and inform the young man in the office (whose name has slipped

was their celebration of Dewali and that they were expecting close to 500 people. He came out of the
office and brought us down the center isle up to the shrine. I couldn t hear much of what he was
saying, partly due his accent, but also due to the loud music that was being played by a few worshipers
just a few feet away. The shrine was composed of three figures covered in brightly colored decorative
ornaments and clothing. The figures stood in a large altar that appeared to be beautifully carved and
finished wood that was lined with strips of lights that flickered colored patterns throughout the
service. Below the altar was an assortment of foods and fruits, which were aesthetically prepared and

Catholic Reconciliation Essay
The Catholic Sacrament of Reconciliation is a foundation of the Catholic faith and of Christ s teaching
on earth, that forgiveness is vital to the ministry of God. This sacrament, however, is not the first
occurrence of a forgiveness ritual in history. In fact, forgiveness itself can be found in cultures before
Christ came down to earth. Three cultural groups, the Jews, the Taoists, and the Jains each have their
own version of an atonement ritual. However great these rituals are, the Catholic ritual of
Reconciliation/Penance/Confession is the best atonement ritual, and celebrates one of the central
human tenants of forgiveness of wrongdoings. The Jews have two ways of reconciliation, one with
God and the other with other people. For the forgiveness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reconciliation is a communal activity that is, firstly, linked with God through the priest, unlike
Jainism; secondly, repeatable as often as necessary, unlike Judaism; and is less of a physical balancing
with the world and more of an atonement for the wrongdoings the sinner did unto those around them
as well as done towards God, unlike Taoism. All of these religious atonement rituals, however, point
to the fact that human beings are erring creatures that need to be forgiven of impurities in order to
better themselves on a spiritual level. From China to the Middle East and as far West as the globe will
spin, human beings share an inert desire to right themselves with whatever moral system they have in
place through their own religious belief systems. In essence, there is a need for humans to both seek
forgiveness from others as well as forgive one another in the

Who Is Joseph Wright s An Experiment On A Bird In The Air...
It was in one of the full moon night did the experiment take place. Not only do the soft light coming
from the moon together with the bright light from the candle describe even the details of the facial
expressions, they also create a great contrasting with the shadow. Joseph Wright was a well known
artist with his proficiency in painting with high contrast between the light and the dark. Wright had a
lot of paintings related to scientific experiments within the 18th century, and An Experiment on a Bird
in the Air Pump, which was done in 1768, is definitely one of them. At the first glance, it can be seen
that the people, who are the members of the Lunar Society, are doing the air pumping experiment on a
bird, which is believed to be a pet of the two little girls. Although scientific ... Show more content on

This great painting seems to be alive with the tensions and the excitements of its historical moment
(Glover). The painting successfully describes the differences between the facial expressions of the
youngest and the eldest appearing in the painting. The cockatoo is said to be the pet of the young girls,
which explains why the older girl use her hand to hide her face and refuse to look at it while the young
girl s expression tends to be upset, however, she is either curious to look at the experiment or just look
at the direction of the man tells her to. What exactly is this drama? A scientific experiment is being
staged. A bird is suffering inside a glass chamber. In fact, it has fallen into a dead faint. It may even be
on the point of death (Glover). The air pump is supposed to work like a vacuum, which will take away
the air inside the glass and makes the bird not to be able to breathe. It is undeniable that the
experiment is to discover the work of a vacuum, however, the use of the bird and makes it unable to
breathe and may lead to death is definitely not worth

Gas Flaring And Its Effects On The World
OVERVIEW/BACKGROUND Gas flaring is the deliberate and controlled burning of natural gas
which is produced from drilling and production operations. According to the World Bank, the
countries which flare the most natural gas in descending order include; Russia, Nigeria, Iran, Iraq and
most recently the U.S. jumped to number 5 on the list due to the recent oil boom in the Bakken shale
in North Dakota and production operations in Wyoming. The rest of the countries that flare gas at an
alarming rate include, Algeria, Kazakhstan, Angola, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela. Furthermore,
according to the World Bank, oil production plants around the globe burn approximately 140 billion
m3 (~4.9 trillion ft3) on an annual basis. This permits more than 300 million tons of CO2 gas to be
emitted into the atmosphere. These numbers bring to light the economic and environmental impacts
that flaring has on the world today. From an economic perspective, gas flaring is viewed by many as a
wasteful form of resource management, as calculations done by the World Bank show that the yearly
amount of gas flared makes up about three quarters of Russia s gas exports. Putting that into
perspective, it is enough gas to feed a third of the EU s natural gas consumption needs for a year
(Ebrahim, et. al, 2013). On an environmental level, gas flaring contributes to the rise of global
warming which impacts climate change due to the emissions of CO2, black carbon and other related
pollutants. This dire phenomenon

Reflection Analysis
In 2017, it seems engagement in controversial discourse is the ultimate taboo. In fear of offending
others, youth avoid discussions of religion, political opinions, and economic problems altogether. Or,
in contrast, discussions of these topics turn hostile and have to be extinguished in the classroom. The
result of this problem is that many young people do not know what they truly think about
controversial topics, and a generation of apathetic thinkers that never go beyond the mainstream media
for their opinions is produced. A society without individual core beliefs and values cannot function as
a democratic republic. I think it is important for our society to be able to discuss controversial topics
because I think that, like Christ, we should meet others where they are. Every day, I see people
dismiss an idea simply because it does not fall in line with their particular political party or because
the idea conflicts with the sentiments of the popular media. Instead, if we hear out the challenging
opinions of others, we can unravel ideologies of our own. I also see people who avoid the news or
political disputes at all costs because they do not want to feel the debaters contention. I too dodged the
nightly news and the following dinner table deliberations until I attended Volunteer Girls State in June
2017. At Volunteer Girls State, I learned how to be civically engaged in my community and how to be
an effective leader. Throughout the week, I participated as a Senator,

2008 Us Economic Recession
INTRODUCTIONS
The Global Financial Crisis of 2008 is considered by many economists to be the worst financial crisis
since the Great Depression of the 1930s. It resulted in the threat of total collapse of large financial
institutions, the bailout of small and big banks by national governments, and downturns in stock
markets around the world. In United States, the housing market also suffered, resulting in evictions,
foreclosures and prolonged unemployment. The crisis played a significant role in the failure of key
businesses, declines in consumer confidence, declines in consumer wealth estimated in trillions of US
dollars, and a downturn in economic activity leading to the 2008 2012 global recession and

By September 2008, average U.S. housing prices had declined by over 20% from their mid 2006 peak.
As prices declined, borrowers with adjustable rate mortgages could not refinance to avoid the higher
payments associated with rising interest rates and began to default. During 2007, lenders began
foreclosure proceedings on nearly 1.3 million properties, a 79% increase over 2006. This increased to
2.3 million in 2008, an 81% increase vs. 2007. By August 2008, 9.2% of all U.S. mortgages
outstanding were either delinquent or in foreclosure. By September 2009, this had risen to 14.4%

Lower interest rates encouraged borrowing. From 2000 to 2003, the Federal Reserve lowered the
federal funds rate target from 6.5% to 1.0%.[68] This was done to soften the effects of the collapse of
the dot com bubble and the September 2001 terrorist attacks. The Fed then raised the Fed funds rate
significantly between July 2004 and July 2006. This contributed to an increase in 1 year and 5 year
adjustable rate mortgage (ARM) rates, making ARM interest rate resets more expensive for
homeowners. This may have also contributed to the deflating of the housing bubble, as asset prices
generally move inversely to interest rates, and it became riskier to speculate in housing.

The First Experiments Of Water Treatment
A plumber is an adventurer who traces leaky pipes to their source (Arthur Baer). We have all heard the
saying, The plumber protects the health of the nation , but what does that really mean? Plumbing has
been around since 6500 BC, maybe even longer. Ancient water wells were found in the Jezreel Valley,
which historians date to be thousands of years old. This was one of the first signs of plumbing in the
ancient world. The Ancient Greek civilizations evolved plumbing, being the first ones to use
underground clay pipes for water distribution and sanitation. They were also one of the first ones to
create and use flush toilets. The 54Roman Empire used indoor plumbing to get water to individuals
inside buildings and homes. Plumbing is responsible for bringing water to people, because people
cannot survive without water. as we got into the modern age, plumbing started to evolve. The first
experiments of water treatment were happening in the early modern age. This would enable the supply
of clean, potable water to everyone. Plumbers are now responsible for the maintenance and sanitation
of all water supply systems and treatment plants. Plumbing is one of the most important job in the
world because plumbers are responsible for providing clean healthy water needed to live, plumbers are
responsible for providing water efficiency needed to avoid the serious world water shortage and
plumbers also help provide a safe non polluted environment. Plumbing is one of the most

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this experiment was to measure the effect one minute of physical activity would have
on a subject s blood pressure. In this experiment, physical activity is defined as stair climbing at a
moderate pace. For comparison purposes, standing blood pressure was measured before and after
physical activity. One subject was used and three trials were completed and the initial blood pressures
were as followed; 94/62 mmHg, 106/74 mmHg, and 102/66 mmHg. Blood pressures after physical
activity were 110/68, 112/76, and 106/70 mmHg. Blood pressure increased after physical activity.

How Did Alexander The Great Affect The Age Of The...
Imagine a world without splendorous leisure activities. The people of the Hellenistic Age most
certainly couldn t! The creation of their extravagant culture that focused on the enjoyment of life and
the understanding of human emotion is owed to Alexander the Great s conquest of Persia and his
decision to mix his native Greek culture with the cultures of the new lands he now owned in his vast
empire. This extremely intriguing age, which lasted for about 300 years, was responsible for many of
the ideas that are still upheld in today s culture, and the people of this time established many important
artistic and philosophical ideals that have lasted for thousands of years. The Hellenistic Age began
after the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BCE (atg timeline). His conquest of Persia after the
Battle of Gaugamela in 331 BCE technically spurred Hellenism, or the spreading of Greek culture
(adtp). Alexander the Great s empire of over seventy cities spread all the way from the west of the
Mediterranean to the east of Persia, and became a hotbed for the mixing of cultures (thought co).
People within this territory assimilated the Greek language, which then allowed for the spread of other
parts of Greek culture, like arts, philosophy, and literature (world of atg). After conquering Persia,
Alexander the Great began to introduce aspects of Greek culture through his new empire in many
different ways. He encouraged his soldiers to marry with Persian women in order to

Slavery Argumentative Essay
Acquiring new land in the west brought about many arguments regarding the issue of slavery. The
main problem was whether or not slavery should be allowed in the new western territories. Due to this
issue, any further expansion was halted. Slavery was a huge issue between the north and south. Each
region had their own strong opinions. These opinions made it difficult for the two political parties to
earn approval from the vast beliefs from all the different religions. Northerners opposed the idea of
slavery in the western land. They believed that if slavery was allowed in the new territories that
wealthy southern farmers would purchase the land to create large plantations. Additionally,

the law. Each party continued to argue the reasons while slavery should and should not be introduced.
The idea of popular sovereignty was also introduced. The idea was to allow the residents of each area
to vote whether or not they wanted to allow slavery. The Free Soil Party was born to further push the
idea around the Wilmot Proviso. This group disputed the fact that Southerners were neglecting the
development progress for the north. The Southerners wished to continue their way of life without
upgrading any ways of life which prevented expanding access to the west. When it came time to
decide whether California would be a free or slave state, a compromise was necessary to keep the
balance between the states. Therefore, The Compromise of 1850 was introduced. The idea was to keep
the parties from further separating. In this compromise, California would be a free state. However, any
remaining land won during the war would be allowed to vote on the issue of slavery once they became
a state. Texas would not be allowed to influence the surrounding area when it came to slavery and the
government would enforce a strict fugitive slave

In the following chapters, I am primarily concerned with how the sonnet functions as a purely
religious form. I am interested in the effects it has on the speaker in relation to his abstract object of
devotion, and those it has on the object of devotion in relation to the speaker. If we are to regard the
sonnet, historically, as an erotic act of devotion, what happens when this devotion is divine? Is the
position of God elevated (in its associations with the lover) or reduced (in its associations with the
earthly)? Is the position of the speaker, for that matter, elevated (to the godly) or reduced (in contrast
to God)? On a fundamental level, is the relationship between God and man necessarily different than

Trust at Xavier is a very important issue. In order for Xavier to trust me I have to have trust in others

is the key to trust for it will set me free from cheating, lying ,

trust them I will get into bad situations. I should have a close relationship with Xavier and myself so I

experiences are good or bad it will give me a chance to learn from my mistakes. By experiencing
things I can learn more about myself. In college I have the freedom to do anything I want, but I
shouldn t take it lightly. The honor code will teach me not to have too much freedom and how to

My Life Changed My Character
The event that permanently changed my character happened as I was on a life changing trip to Africa.
For some background information, I learned about the trip a year before and was immediately ecstatic.
At first it was just going to be me with some family friends journeying to Africa. With the personality

since I could read and fully utilize my imagination, the unsocial life of living in the abundant fantasy
worlds that authors and producers have created throughout the century has always been a solid thing
to fallback on whenever an escape is needed. Also, the sense of being utterly detached from my old
life entirely was another huge factor in the building of my anticipation. However, my dad got his

long and awful if it was not for a good book that I picked up in an airport bookstore. I do not possess
the ability to sleep well on planes. Therefore, a long and enthralling book was perfect for me. Before I

Downsizing creates multiple consequences in the workplace such as: job insecurity, less loyal
workers, high levels of unemployment, and high turnover. Outside of the Wall Street market,
downsizing has not shown to increase productivity, and instead it accounts to many employers quitting
often because they can foresee these downsizes (Class Notes, 9/22/14). Yet, in Wall Street, these
downsizes have desensitized the workers to layoffs. In addition, contracts have not become legally
binding and there are now severance packages and outplacement services for these constantly
uprooted workers. Overall, Ho (2009) argues that it is the cultural understandings and organizational
incentives of investment banks that help contribute to the creation of both unstable, unsustainable

Food Is Essential For A Person Alive Essay
Food, it is essential to keep a person alive. Without food, one cannot obtain the energy that they need
to perform everyday activities. Fortunately, with today s technologies and the knowledge that
humanity has gained over the centuries, food is a commodity that is plentiful for many people.
However, the bountiful amount of food and easy access to it has caused humans to become ignorant in

categories that their food could be classified as. Such categories are organic, non organic, GMO s and

The information that the illegitimate sources give out cause the true information to become censored

Mass Spectrometry ( Working Principle )
Mass Spectrometry (Working Principle) What is mass spectrometry? According to the website
premierbiosoft.com mass spectrometry is a capable scientific procedure used to evaluate known
materials, to distinguish obscure mixes inside an example, and to illustrate the structure and substance
properties of various molecules. The entire procedure includes the change of the example into
vaporous particles, with or without fracture, which are then described by their mass to charge
proportions (m/z) and relative abundances. This is basically a technique that study the effect of
ionizing energy on molecules. In the event that something is moving and you subject it to a sideways
drive, rather than moving in a straight line, it will move in a bend diverted out of its unique way by the
sideways compel. Assume you had a cannonball going past you and you needed to redirect it as it
passed by you. All you have is a fly of water from a hose pipe that you can squirt at it. To be perfectly
honest, it won t have a considerable measure of effect! Since the cannonball is so overwhelming, it
will scarcely be avoided at all from its unique course. Be that as it may, assume rather, you attempted
to avoid a table tennis ball going at an indistinguishable speed from the cannonball utilizing similar fly
of water. Since this ball is so light, you will get an immense avoidance. The measure of avoidance you
will get for a given sideways drive relies on upon the mass of the ball. In the event that

Graffiti In The United States
Since the late 1980s, various public and private sector actors in the United States who do not write
graffiti have practiced anonymity and sought fame to suppress and promote graffiti. Most non writing
public sector actors have cracked down on graffiti as a criminal act that blights urban surfaces, while,
in response, many non writing private sector actors have promoted graffiti as a profitable consumer
good and art form. In the public sector, police officers and politicians in New York and then Chicago
and Denver have prosecuted graffiti as the illegal vandalism of property walls and other surfaces; over
time, police officers have learned to adapt plainclothes dress to patrol environments, capture writers,
and destroy graffiti. In the private ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mayors David Dinkins and Rudolph Giuliani expanded the NYPD according to the popular Broken
Windows theory, which states that neighborhoods suffer from high crime rates because of
environmental disorder, namely broken windows and defaced buildings. At this time, the police and
the public sought new strategies to control crime prone environments. When Mayor Dinkins appointed
revisionist William Bratton as Chief of Transit Police in 1990, Bratton upgraded everything that the
Vandal Squad used, from exchanging .38 guns for 9mm automatic weapons to installing computers
that officers used to research and track writing activity citywide. With strong public support and
upgraded equipment, officers felt encouraged to wear new undercover outfits and fit in with diverse

Emancipation Of Thought From Myth Summary
The Emancipation of Thought from Myth (1946) is an essay written by J Barnes which explains the
theories of philosophical and mythopoeic thinking in reference to the Pre Socratics influence in human
knowledge of thinking. Throughout this essay I will be explaining the concepts of philosophical and
mythopoeic thinking and how they were related to the Pre Socratics. In addition to that I will elaborate
on who they initially were by referring to specific thinkers. Thereafter in conclusion I will enlighten
on why the Pre Socratics (600BC 470BC) were regarded as philosophical thinkers rather than
mythopoeic.
What is philosophy? Philosophy can be defined as the methodic investigation used by a philosopher
(persons whom study philosophy) to indentify ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parmenides believed that change within reality is inevitable, movement is impossible, all but just an
illusion. He states that in reality there is only one thing the universe. The thing that can be thought,
and that for the sake of which the thought exists, is the same; for you cannot find thought without
something that is, as to which is uttered. (Barnes, 1946, p. 385) What Parmenides explains is that, one
can think about what does not actually exist, but could possibly exist. He argues the fact of the
distinction between what is , what is not and what might

Analysis Of Neutral Tones By Thomas Hardy
To experience feelings of delight and bliss individuals must also face difficult times to help them
better recognize and appreciate their future happiness. Without experiencing sadness and heartbreak
people would be significantly less appreciative of their future lovers and self. To fully feel what love
is, you must have experienced loss because without feeling how painful the flip side of situation is
there would be no way of feeling anything at all, which would drive everyone to be completely numb.
Throughout the following poems Shall I compare thee to a summer s day? , My mistress eyes are
nothing like the sun , The Flea , and Thomas Hardy s Neutral Tones the authors all share their
experiences about love, with a major emphasis on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This poem from 1633 entitled The Flea by John Donne s shines a light on a man trying to persuade a
woman into being intimate with him, but the female struck him down through her strong sense of self.
Although a main focus of this poem is the hardships of two people having different intentions in a
relationship, the female also manages to show a significant amount of self love. Too often people try
to focus on each others needs rather than their own, which can backfire and lead to someone being in
an uncomfortable situation. But when she struck down the fly she also struck down his argument that
they needed to become intimate hence showing a strong sense of self worth. Rather than giving into
the man s wishes she sticks to her personal boundaries and morals which shows the readers a great
example of self love and standing up for yourself.
In Shakespeare s poem My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun published in 1609, he successfully
expresses a few more difficulties of love through a humorous tone. Women are too often held to high
beauty standards which Shakespeare strikes down by helping the readers realize that beauty is in the
eye of the beholder and that nature should not be compared to women in the first place. By making
multiple comparisons between his lover and nature Shakespeare focuses on being honest and having
realistic standards for his

Participatory Modes
What is a documentary? The technical term is utilizing pictures or interviews with people involved in
real events to provide a factual record on a particular unique subject. In other words, it is a programme
that provides a reputable document on a detailed subject. One influential person on documentaries is
Bill Nichols who is a film critic and theorist known for his pioneering work in documentary, he
compared film theory to that of documentaries for the first time and that even though they are made
with different purposes in mind that does not separate them. Documentaries or film have conventions
and practices such as screenwriting, staging, re enacting, rehearsal and performance , non actors,
handheld cameras, improve and found footage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

documentary is made and that it is infeasible for it to be an untouched fact so to speak because it gets
affected by so many different processes and techniques for example the camera and editing to enhance
it and so it accepts it and may also make these matters recognized to the viewers with the aid of
authentically having and exhibiting them in the movie itself. It admits to the audience this is not the
truth but a reconstructed version of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cId3MgHgKpo Performative
Mode is where the filmmaker is deeply involved and this type of documentary is on the whole
subjective, the filmmaker and the film might depict their personal journey. It does not set out to lecture

The Impacts Of The Holocaust And The Holocaust
The Holocaust, a genocide which lasted from 1942 to 1945 in which around 6 million European
Jewish people were killed, was the result of the Ideals of the the past chancellor of Germany, Adolf
Hitler. Hitler came into power by capitalising on world wide events such as the great depression in
1929 resulting from the Wall Street crash. He began spreading his ideals of anti semitism to the
German population in preparation for the Final Solution , which became known as the Holocaust with
the assistance of propaganda, violence, and an economic boycott. Most of the impacts resulting from
his methods proved to be extremely valuable to the success of the preparation as they efficiently and
effectively brainwashed a hateful image of the Jewish population into the minds of the German people
and aligned them with Hitler s ideals of anti Semitism. However, some of his methods did were not
valuable to preparing the German people as they were not able to depict a hateful image of the Jews.
Propaganda was arguably one of the most effective ways for ideas to be spread around rapidly, In his
autobiography, Mien Kampf, Hitler states: Propaganda tries to force a doctrine on the whole people.....
Propaganda works on the general public from the standpoint of an idea and makes them ripe for the
victory of this idea. It shows that Hitler understood the effectiveness of propaganda and used it to
spread his anti Semitist ideals towards the German people to create a negative image of the Jewish

  • 2. The Sexual Orientation Of Parents The sexual orientation of parents, once having a child, does not negatively affect the development of their children. In order to first be a parent, one must obtain a child. However, in Florida, gay foster parents were not allowed to adopt the children they fostered due to the Gay Adoption Ban (Goldberg). Homosexuals were not legally able to adopt a child at all until the forty year old ban was lifted July, 2015 by Governor Rick Scott (Associated Press). Prior to the lifting of the gay adoption ban, female same sex couples could build their families via DI, as opposed to male couples, whose reproductive options were more limited... surrogacy is very expensive (Goldberg 117). Adoption is usually a first option for gay couples due to the inability to reproduce through traditional means. The second, and much more expensive options are insemination for women, and surrogacy for men. Without the option of adoption, many gay couples are not able to have the right to raise a child. Furthermore, the difficulties homosexual couples have to acquire a child make it almost impossible to exercise that right. However, once having a child, he or she is cared for just as any other heterosexual couple would care for a child. The development of children raised by homosexual couples is not significantly different from that raised by heterosexual couples. Children whose parents are gay or lesbian have no more problems with self esteem, psychological adjustment, intellectual capacity, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Barrios In The Movie Barrio Poverty, drugs, prostitution, and theft may not be a common occurrence seen by the average person, but for those individuals who live in housing projects, it is second hand nature. A housing project is a government subsidized housing development that provides low rent for low income households. These developments are usually considered as ghettos; in Spanish they are referred to as barrios . Spanish film director and screenwriter, Fernando Leon de Aranoa, gives audiences a better understanding of the hardships that are faced in his film Barrio. Living in such tough conditions, it would be hard for anyone to prosper, but it becomes even more difficult for teenagers to resist the evils that surround them everyday, the future is bleak and to escape it is almost impossible. A Report On The Neighborhood Family Clinic This paper will discuss the Neighborhood Family Clinic in the Madison which is a free standing facility that the facility planning committee has decided to renovate to accommodate the growing community that the facility current serves. The facility planning committee has provided considerations that have regulatory requirements that could have an effect on the design and equipment that will be placed in the renovated facility. These regulatory requirements may require the design of the facility to change based on exam room size, location and placement of certain equipment. Regulatory requirements and their effect on design and equipment The regulatory requirements and their effect on design and equipment in the renovation of the Neighborhood Family Clinic are the environmental regulations on both the federal and state levels regarding the renovation, expansion, equipment, design, and operation of the facility (www.eesolutions.net, n. d.). Newton was a political activist who earned a Ph.D. in social philosophy. The duo met at Meritt Junior College in West Oakland, California and both were part of the Soul Students Advisory Committee. Ultimately, their experiences and stances, along with the ideology of Malcolm X, influenced the Black Panther Party platform. In October of 1966, Seale and Newton sat down and wrote their first program for the party. The 10 Point Program, titled What We Want, What We Believe, demands freedom, full employment, guaranteed income, justice of racial robbery, decent living, better education, black men to be exempt from military service, end of police brutality, and the release of black men in jail due to unfair or lack of trials. In what ways did this activity represent a model for Rutherford s efforts to determine the structure of the atom? What type of thinking and evidence (direct or indirect) were necessary in order to draw conclusions in both situations? This activity is a model for Rutherford s experiments to determine the structure of the atom because in the activity, we rolled a marble towards a shape that we could not see in order to determine its size, shape, and location, just as Rutherford observed how particles bounced off of or went through a sheet of gold foil, in order to determine the size, shape, and properties of atoms. We used the angles at which the marble bounced off of the shape in order to determine the properties of that shape in our activity, and in Rutherford s experiments, he observed how the particles bounced off of or went through the gold foil, in order to determine the atom s properties. Also, we used a piece of cardboard to cover our target because Rutherford was not able to see the atoms that he was studying. In order to draw conclusions in both situations, you need to determine what makes the marble or particle roll or travel the way it does. For example, in the experiments, if the particle went straight through the gold leaf and in our activity, if the marble rolls straight through the cardboard, you can infer that the particles and the marble didn t hit the target. However, if the marble or particle bounced off of the target at an angle, you need to be able to use those angles to determine what shape and size the target is and where it is ... • 10. Materialistic Values Associated With The American Dream Please respond with at least five sentences for each. What is the American Dream? How is it characteristic of American ideals and philosophy? What are the differences between the materialistic and the idealistic values associated with the American Dream? The American Dream is the idea that everyone can have an equal opportunity to obtain success as long as they are determined and work hard. It is characteristic of American ideals and philosophy because it directly reflects with how U.S citizens feel a need for equality, freedom, liberty, and democracy. Common materialistic values associated with the American Dream are the need for a nice house, several cars, and money to spend. The idealistic values are that just by working hard anyone can achieve anything. This isn t always true. So if I were covering the MDE kindergarten history standard K EI.0.1, recognize situations in which people trade, I would give each student a different object and have them practice their bartering skills (Standards, 2015). Since some students will not want to trade their items, it will be my job to encourage them to trade items anyway so that they can experience what it is like for people to barter and trade. Both Vygotsky and Piaget s theories about how children develop cognitively, directly relate to a constructivist view of learning. Give 5 ways these 2 theorists relate to a constructivist view of learning. Be specific with examples. There are five ways in which Piaget s theory of cognitive development and Vygotsky s theory of the Zone of Proximal Development. The very first way that teachers can use these theories to teach constructively is by providing scaffolded instruction within the ZPD for their students (Snowman and McCown, 2013). In other words, a teacher must be able to assist children in achieving a goal that may be slightly too difficult for them to reach alone. An example of this would be if a teacher had decided that her class should do an experiment on how well plants grow based on the amount of water they receive, she could challenge her students to make a hypothesis about what they think will happen. This teacher could allow her students to individually plant their seeds and then guiding her students to predict or hypothesize what they believe will happen if one plant gets more water than another. This example directly correlates with Vygotsky s idea of ZPD because the students do not know how to use the scientific method for a science experiment, however, with the teacher s assistance, they were able to fully complete it. A second avenue that educators can take when wishing to instruct constructively is by providing their students with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. How Did John Locke Influence Society Who gave us new ways of thinking and played a role in the foundation of our country? There are many people that influenced our country and gave new ways of thinking, but there are a few unexpected players that most do not acknowledge and appreciate. The Enlightenment was a period in time from 1685 1815, where there was a drastic change in people s views towards subjects such as philosophy, politics and science. It was an extension of the progress of the Reformation and the Renaissance. It did this by continuing to extinguish the medieval perspectives towards life which were that the church ruled over every aspect of life and people were restricted. New ways of thinking came into play such as equality, logic, and freedom from the church, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... John Locke comparatively had more of a positive spin on things than Hobbes. Locke proposed the thought that all people were born with natural rights, these natural rights being life, liberty, and property. The government should agree to serve the people and make sure that they would be provided with these rights. Locke urged if these rights had not been met by the government, the people had the right to rebel and overthrow the government. Locke s theory got a lot of attention because as he said in his book Second Treatise of Government that New opinions are always suspected, and usually opposed, without any reason but because they are not common. He feels that government was unnecessary because in his perspective, everyone was born with a clean slate and that if someone was evil, it was the world that made them evil they were not born that way. John Locke s views influenced famous documents, including the Declaration of Independence. In the Declaration of Independence it includes Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, which is based on John Locke s interpretation of life that humans were all born as almost a blank page with no identity and the world and their lives create their interests, intentions and everyone was given the power to the basic rights of ... • 14. Elements Of Poetry In Ask MeBy Arakida Moritage 1. In Ask me by William Stafford (376), the element of poetry that stands out most for me is didactic poetry. William starts with Some time when the river is ice ask me mistakes I have made. grabbing reader s attention towards the issue he is discussing in his poem. Some people stood with him during difficult times, some didn t ask me what difference their strongest love or hate has made. But, that doesn t make any difference. We know the current is there, hidden; and there are comings and goings from miles away that hold the stillness exactly before us. everyone has the potential to solve their problems. Stafford is addressing that people solve their own problems. This makes them strong. 2. In The falling flower by Arakida Moritake (438), the element that stands out most for in the poem is imagery. The poem sparks the person with its set of unusual images. The poet triggers the image of a flower falling from the tree The falling flower . And that flower flies back to the tree in the form of a butterfly. I saw drift back to the branch Was a butterfly . Arakida is discussing the birth of a butterfly by his vivid imagery. 3. • 16. The Importance Of The Second Amendment To The United... Do you know what function the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution actually serves? No, it is not so that people can go hunting or protect themselves against personal assault. Neither is it a stupid, brainless provision that some lamebrain slipped into the Constitution. Like a shield of freedom, it is one of the primary reasons that the United States Constitution still stands. As one who is not a gun owner, I treasure the Second Amendment. It is one of our best safeguards against tyranny, not from foreign governments, but from our own. This amendment reads, A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The militia written of here is a volunteer army that basically provides its own weapons. That is, these are soldiers who are already armed, who already have their own guns. In The Federalist Papers, the authors wrote of concerns that a standing army could lead to tyranny (loss of freedom), so the Second Amendment was conceived in such a way that the U.S. could have an army at need, and would not have to have a large standing army. This was so that the national government would not threaten our freedom. (Trust me; it s in there.) There are historical examples of governments wanting to tighten their controls over the people, so they went out and disarmed the people (like the sword hunt in Japan), or made it illegal for them to own weapons (there are ... Starting with the Irish, this group had a number of ways that WASPs were able to show them as violent. One of the main occupations that Irish men took up during that time was bare knuckle boxing, which entailed fighting other Irishmen for a source of entertainment to the elite. In order to maintain this sport, many natives would become managers to ensure the Irishmen were able to attend the best fights. The shrine was composed of three figures covered in brightly colored decorative ornaments and clothing. The figures stood in a large altar that appeared to be beautifully carved and finished wood that was lined with strips of lights that flickered colored patterns throughout the service. • 21. Catholic Reconciliation Essay The Catholic Sacrament of Reconciliation is a foundation of the Catholic faith and of Christ s teaching on earth, that forgiveness is vital to the ministry of God. This sacrament, however, is not the first occurrence of a forgiveness ritual in history. In fact, forgiveness itself can be found in cultures before Christ came down to earth. Three cultural groups, the Jews, the Taoists, and the Jains each have their own version of an atonement ritual. However great these rituals are, the Catholic ritual of Reconciliation/Penance/Confession is the best atonement ritual, and celebrates one of the central human tenants of forgiveness of wrongdoings. All of these religious atonement rituals, however, point to the fact that human beings are erring creatures that need to be forgiven of impurities in order to better themselves on a spiritual level. From China to the Middle East and as far West as the globe will spin, human beings share an inert desire to right themselves with whatever moral system they have in place through their own religious belief systems. • 23. Gas Flaring And Its Effects On The World OVERVIEW/BACKGROUND Gas flaring is the deliberate and controlled burning of natural gas which is produced from drilling and production operations. According to the World Bank, the countries which flare the most natural gas in descending order include; Russia, Nigeria, Iran, Iraq and most recently the U.S. jumped to number 5 on the list due to the recent oil boom in the Bakken shale in North Dakota and production operations in Wyoming. The rest of the countries that flare gas at an alarming rate include, Algeria, Kazakhstan, Angola, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela. Furthermore, according to the World Bank, oil production plants around the globe burn approximately 140 billion m3 (~4.9 trillion ft3) on an annual basis. This permits more than 300 million tons of CO2 gas to be emitted into the atmosphere. These numbers bring to light the economic and environmental impacts that flaring has on the world today. From an economic perspective, gas flaring is viewed by many as a wasteful form of resource management, as calculations done by the World Bank show that the yearly amount of gas flared makes up about three quarters of Russia s gas exports. Putting that into perspective, it is enough gas to feed a third of the EU s natural gas consumption needs for a year (Ebrahim, et. al, 2013). On an environmental level, gas flaring contributes to the rise of global warming which impacts climate change due to the emissions of CO2, black carbon and other related pollutants. • 24. Reflection Analysis In 2017, it seems engagement in controversial discourse is the ultimate taboo. In fear of offending others, youth avoid discussions of religion, political opinions, and economic problems altogether. Or, in contrast, discussions of these topics turn hostile and have to be extinguished in the classroom. The result of this problem is that many young people do not know what they truly think about controversial topics, and a generation of apathetic thinkers that never go beyond the mainstream media for their opinions is produced. A society without individual core beliefs and values cannot function as a democratic republic. I think it is important for our society to be able to discuss controversial topics because I think that, like Christ, we should meet others where they are. Every day, I see people dismiss an idea simply because it does not fall in line with their particular political party or because the idea conflicts with the sentiments of the popular media. Instead, if we hear out the challenging opinions of others, we can unravel ideologies of our own. I also see people who avoid the news or political disputes at all costs because they do not want to feel the debaters contention. I too dodged the nightly news and the following dinner table deliberations until I attended Volunteer Girls State in June 2017. The creation of their extravagant culture that focused on the enjoyment of life and the understanding of human emotion is owed to Alexander the Great s conquest of Persia and his decision to mix his native Greek culture with the cultures of the new lands he now owned in his vast empire. This extremely intriguing age, which lasted for about 300 years, was responsible for many of the ideas that are still upheld in today s culture, and the people of this time established many important artistic and philosophical ideals that have lasted for thousands of years. The Hellenistic Age began after the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BCE (atg timeline). His conquest of Persia after the Battle of Gaugamela in 331 BCE technically spurred Hellenism, or the spreading of Greek culture (adtp). Alexander the Great s empire of over seventy cities spread all the way from the west of the Mediterranean to the east of Persia, and became a hotbed for the mixing of cultures (thought co). People within this territory assimilated the Greek language, which then allowed for the spread of other parts of Greek culture, like arts, philosophy, and literature (world of atg). Karen Ho is an American anthropologist, who earned her undergrad and graduate degrees from Stanford University and got her Ph.D. in anthropology from Princeton University. In 1997, during the middle of Ho s Princeton education, she took a leave of absence to work in lower Manhattan and observe the natural habitat for investment banking. Bankers Trust New York Corporation (also known as BT) hired Ho to be part of the Management Consulting Group. After six months, Ho was fired due to downsizing. Based on Ho s stint at BT in 1997, fieldwork from 1998 to 1999 and over 100 interviews with investment bankers, Ho depicts an insider s account of how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Downsizing creates multiple consequences in the workplace such as: job insecurity, less loyal workers, high levels of unemployment, and high turnover. Outside of the Wall Street market, downsizing has not shown to increase productivity, and instead it accounts to many employers quitting often because they can foresee these downsizes (Class Notes, 9/22/14). Yet, in Wall Street, these downsizes have desensitized the workers to layoffs. In addition, contracts have not become legally binding and there are now severance packages and outplacement services for these constantly uprooted workers. Overall, Ho (2009) argues that it is the cultural understandings and organizational incentives of investment banks that help contribute to the creation of both unstable, unsustainable markets and jobs (p. ... Fortunately, with today s technologies and the knowledge that humanity has gained over the centuries, food is a commodity that is plentiful for many people. However, the bountiful amount of food and easy access to it has caused humans to become ignorant in how their food is made, grown, and how it gets to their table. Many are also ignorant to the different categories that their food could be classified as. Such categories are organic, non organic, GMO s and much more. However, as time moves on, citizens are taking greater interest in growing their education on what they eat. They are learning about how it is grown, prepared, and what types are more beneficial for them and their families. Unfortunately, many get their information from illegitimate sources. These sources being media, un educational websites, blogs, and many forms of propaganda. The information that the illegitimate sources give out cause the true information to become censored in a way. Where it is now hard for consumers to determine, what is the correct information and what is built on lies and opinions. Such example is the debate between organic, non organic, and GMO s. The media and other sources claim that organic is much more beneficial for you than nonorganic, and that GMO s and conventionally grown produce are extremely harmful for you. • 44. Mass Spectrometry ( Working Principle ) Mass Spectrometry (Working Principle) What is mass spectrometry? According to the website premierbiosoft.com mass spectrometry is a capable scientific procedure used to evaluate known materials, to distinguish obscure mixes inside an example, and to illustrate the structure and substance properties of various molecules. The entire procedure includes the change of the example into vaporous particles, with or without fracture, which are then described by their mass to charge proportions (m/z) and relative abundances. This is basically a technique that study the effect of ionizing energy on molecules. In the event that something is moving and you subject it to a sideways drive, rather than moving in a straight line, it will move in a bend diverted out of its unique way by the sideways compel. Assume you had a cannonball going past you and you needed to redirect it as it passed by you. All you have is a fly of water from a hose pipe that you can squirt at it. To be perfectly honest, it won t have a considerable measure of effect! Since the cannonball is so overwhelming, it will scarcely be avoided at all from its unique course. Be that as it may, assume rather, you attempted to avoid a table tennis ball going at an indistinguishable speed from the cannonball utilizing similar fly of water. Since this ball is so light, you will get an immense avoidance. The measure of avoidance you will get for a given sideways drive relies on upon the mass of the ball. In the event that ... Most non writing public sector actors have cracked down on graffiti as a criminal act that blights urban surfaces, while, in response, many non writing private sector actors have promoted graffiti as a profitable consumer good and art form. In the public sector, police officers and politicians in New York and then Chicago and Denver have prosecuted graffiti as the illegal vandalism of property walls and other surfaces; over time, police officers have learned to adapt plainclothes dress to patrol environments, capture writers, and destroy graffiti. • 47. Analysis Of Neutral Tones By Thomas Hardy To experience feelings of delight and bliss individuals must also face difficult times to help them better recognize and appreciate their future happiness. Without experiencing sadness and heartbreak people would be significantly less appreciative of their future lovers and self. To fully feel what love is, you must have experienced loss because without feeling how painful the flip side of situation is there would be no way of feeling anything at all, which would drive everyone to be completely numb. Throughout the following poems Shall I compare thee to a summer s day? , My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun , The Flea , and Thomas Hardy s Neutral Tones the authors all share their experiences about love, with a major emphasis on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This poem from 1633 entitled The Flea by John Donne s shines a light on a man trying to persuade a woman into being intimate with him, but the female struck him down through her strong sense of self. Although a main focus of this poem is the hardships of two people having different intentions in a relationship, the female also manages to show a significant amount of self love. Too often people try to focus on each others needs rather than their own, which can backfire and lead to someone being in an uncomfortable situation. But when she struck down the fly she also struck down his argument that they needed to become intimate hence showing a strong sense of self worth. Rather than giving into the man s wishes she sticks to her personal boundaries and morals which shows the readers a great example of self love and standing up for yourself. In Shakespeare s poem My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun published in 1609, he successfully expresses a few more difficulties of love through a humorous tone. Women are too often held to high beauty standards which Shakespeare strikes down by helping the readers realize that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that nature should not be compared to women in the first place. By making multiple comparisons between his lover and nature Shakespeare focuses on being honest and having realistic standards for his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 50. The Impacts Of The Holocaust And The Holocaust The Holocaust, a genocide which lasted from 1942 to 1945 in which around 6 million European Jewish people were killed, was the result of the Ideals of the the past chancellor of Germany, Adolf Hitler. Hitler came into power by capitalising on world wide events such as the great depression in 1929 resulting from the Wall Street crash. He began spreading his ideals of anti semitism to the German population in preparation for the Final Solution , which became known as the Holocaust with the assistance of propaganda, violence, and an economic boycott. Most of the impacts resulting from his methods proved to be extremely valuable to the success of the preparation as they efficiently and effectively brainwashed a hateful image of the Jewish population into the minds of the German people and aligned them with Hitler s ideals of anti Semitism. However, some of his methods did were not valuable to preparing the German people as they were not able to depict a hateful image of the Jews. Propaganda was arguably one of the most effective ways for ideas to be spread around rapidly, In his autobiography, Mien Kampf, Hitler states: Propaganda tries to force a doctrine on the whole people..... Propaganda works on the general public from the standpoint of an idea and makes them ripe for the victory of this idea. It shows that Hitler understood the effectiveness of propaganda and used it to spread his anti Semitist ideals towards the German people to create a negative image of the Jewish ...
