Middle English Research Paper
English started as a West Germanic language spoken in England attributable to migration from the
southern shores of the sea. The migrants are known as Anglo Saxons however there s doubt on
whether or not it s really their name. English shows a nearer respect to Frisian than to the types of
German spoken within the sea areas of Germany, even within the earliest times. The stage of English
from its creation by the Anglo Saxons to shortly after the Norman Conquest was named Old English .
The earliest English language was far more inflected than modern English; it had a way smaller
vocabulary with few loanwords from alternative languages and an easier grammar structure. It s
unrecognisable to modern English speakers nowadays. It was modified an excellent deal over six
centuries attributable to influences from multiple languages. Latin loaned some words to germanic
languages across the continent, and so most came to English once the Anglo Saxons became
Christianised. A number of this new vocabulary came from Latin, Greek, and Old Norse, the language
of the Norwegians who 1st raided as Vikings and later came to settle. it was an analogous language to
English however far enough away to mean there had to be a compromise language created between
Anglo Saxon and Norse individuals. this led to plenty of vocabulary being ported from other
Germanic languages to English. The era from 1100 to 1500 was dubbed Middle English. The language
throughout this point 1st had to contend with Anglo Norman, at the time the official language of the
country, and there are few texts from the late eleventh and twelfth centuries to inform us what English
was like. It continued to be spoken by the huge majority of the population and there was never in any
danger of alternative languages taking up. Norman French had a large vocabulary input into English at
this point, and also the combined influence of it and the earlier Norse weakened the inflectional
system and led English into a language that contained much fewer endings and and fixed word order.
The Anglo Saxon alphabet was slowly lost as they it was seen as inferior by French influenced writers,
and instead new French styled digraphs were introduced to spell sounds the old

Reflection Of The Five Psychoosexual Stages Of Personality...
Attending the psychology lecture has been an interesting experience for me, which I learn about
different psychological theories explaining how our behaviors and thoughts are changing by the
surrounding stimuli and factors. While I attain the theoretical knowledge, I also understand the
important to convert this knowledge into daily applications. Among the theories I have learnt in the
lesson, I found the psychoanalytic framework of Sigmund Freud is more appealing to me as I can
somehow relate it to myself and the psychological development of my little brother. Moreover, it
seems a more controversial theory when compare to other psychology perspective.
As Sigmund Freud suggested, every mature individual has a personality structure with three ... Show

Courage In Elie Wiesel s Masterminds
The definition of courage is The ability to do something that frightens one . Courage is important
because it helps you get through hard times, or times where you need strength. In the book,
Masterminds, two of the main characters face many challenges. Tori and Eli had to be courageous to
help them discover the truth about their town and escape with the others. Tori and Eli have to take out
barriers keeping them in their town and climb walls to find out what s happening in their town. While
doing all this, they all had to keep it a secret. That might have been the hardest thing they could do.
Based on evidence I found in the book, Eli and Tori have to be courageous at many times, but all
different from each other Eli has many challenges throughout

Why A Parrot Owner Or Just Preparing For Bring One Home
Whether you are an experienced parrot owner or just preparing to bring one home, there are many
important factors that must be considered. Owning a parrot is an incredible commitment. It requires 24
hour responsibility and an awareness of factors that most people never give a second thought to. Some
of these factors can mean life or death to a parrot. We still do not know very much about how our day
to day living affects our feathered companions, so it s important to remain up to date and continue
your research every day. Parrots have a very sensitive respiratory system. They have a set of lungs as
well as air sacs that are distributed throughout the body. This makes their breathing extremely efficient
and incredibly sensitive to chemicals and fumes. Scented candles, plug in home deodorizers, hair
products and perfumes, cigarettes, etc. can cause great harm and even death when used in the same
room as a parrot. If it smells strongly to you, it could be harming your parrot. On the other side of that,
there are many products that we cannot smell that can be just as harmful. PTFE/non stick coated
cookware, space heaters, self cleaning ovens, etc. have the potential to off gas and release very
harmful fumes that can kill parrots in a matter of seconds. Many products are being manufactured with
non stick parts that are not listed in their manuals/warning paperwork. This is where doing your
research is imperative. If you own your house, there are other dangers to consider. Pest

Frank Sinatra
FRANK SINATRA, holding a glass of bourbon in one hand and a cigarette in the other, stood in a
dark corner of the bar between two attractive but fading blondes who sat waiting for him to say
something. But he said nothing; he had been silent during much of the evening, except now in this
private club in Beverly Hills he seemed even more distant, staring out through the smoke and
semidarkness into a large room beyond the bar where dozens of young couples sat huddled around
small tables or twisted in the center of the floor to the clamorous clang of folk rock music blaring from
the stereo. The two blondes knew, as did Sinatra s four male friends who stood nearby, that it was a

In the wee small hours of the morning/while the whole wide world is fast asleep/you lie awake, and
think about the girl.... it was like so many of his classics, a song that evoked loneliness and sensuality,
and when blended with the dim light and the alcohol and nicotine and late night needs, it became a
kind of airy aphrodisiac. Undoubtedly the words from this song, and others like it, had put millions in
the mood, it was music to make love by, and doubtless much love had been made by it all over
America at night in cars, while the batteries burned down, in cottages by the lake, on beaches during
balmy summer evenings, in secluded parks and exclusive penthouses and furnished rooms, in cabin
cruisers and cabs and cabanas in all places where Sinatra s songs could be heard were these words that
warmed women, wooed and won them, snipped the final thread of inhibition and gratified the male
egos of ungrateful lovers; two generations of men had been the beneficiaries of such ballads, for
which they were eternally in his debt, for which they may eternally hate him. Nevertheless here he

Favorite Moments Research Paper
Some of my favorite moments in the past three years have been at summer camps. First two at Camp
Foster in Okoboji, Iowa; the third at Camp Chief Ouray in Colorado. It s difficult to pick one or two of
my favorite moments from these three years, but one thing is certain, I learned more from my three
years working with kids than any life experiences thus far. People often ask me, why do you enjoy
working with kids? The best answer I can think of is simple. I love working with kids because it s
challenging. The challenge is twofold, kids are in constant need of justification, and kids push you to
think creatively. Anyone that has experience with kids knows a child s favorite question is why? Why
is it their favorite? (See what I did there?) It s their favorite question because their actions need
justification. If you are unable to provide adequate justification and purpose for doing a task, good
luck! Every camp counselor, parent, and teacher knows the worst way to respond to a question is

They try to use an arithmetic approach. If you know what the problem is, you can solve for x. This
process is very logical and systematic. Most adults can look at the facts and solve systematically.
When kids look at a problem they see the facts and challenge the intellectual basis for these
assumptions. They think, why do we need to do it that way? Is there another way we can achieve the
same end? In other words, they look at the math problem and say, why can t we change the variables?
For kids, everything is in play. I believe our faith, along with many other areas, requires us to be
childlike. It seems as if we always fall short. We need more of it! We need to look at problems,
identify the variables, justify the variables, change the variables with poor justification, and

Fight Club Consumerism Analysis
David Fincher s Fight Club is praised by fans and critics alike as one of the most impactful
representation of society in film. The film follows Jack, the narrator and main character, as he teams
up with a newfound acquaintance named Tyler Durden to form an underground fight club for men
who are bored of their mundane lives(Fincher 1999). As Durden becomes more of a dominant
personality, Fight Club evolves to Project Mayhem, multi celled secret society of oppressed gray
collar workers whose purpose is to battle the modern culture of consumerism(Fincher 1999). The
movie is often discussed by people due to its representation of the modern man and consumeristic
society. In Fight Club, the modern man is described as a white collar slave who ... Show more content

This causes a sense of powerlessness and a lack of sense of accomplishments as the workers are
fulfilling goals of others and not for themselves. The first rule of Fight Club is: you do not speak about
Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is: you do not speak about Fight Club! (Fincher 1999). This
rule is used as unity for the group of men involved to create their own counterculture. Counterculture
is defined cultural patterns that strongly oppose those widely accepted within a
society(Macionis,2002:49). As Fight Club progresses and the relationships of the men grows, the
group evolves to a Project Mayhem, a rebellious group to fight consumeristic culture through
terroristic actions, such as public bombing(Fincher 1999). The group they created helps these men
cope with the role strain they have experience as grey collar workers. Through Violence, both with fist
and weapons, The people in project Mayhem causes chaos in white collar society. This common
mission finally gives the members the meaning in their lives they craved so much. We are all part of
the same compost heap, Tyler Durden announces over the loudspeaker to his fellow project mayhem
members(Fincher 1999). This statement by Durden represents the foundation of an In group We are all

Prior to 1821, the land beyond Missouri was an uncharted region known only to buffalo and displaced
Native Americans. When Mexicans won independence from Spain in 1821, they encouraged trade
with the United States via New Mexico. Lack of water and hostile Native Americans made the trip
dangerous, but William Becknell, Father of the Santa Fe Trail, left Missouri that year to arrive in Santa

became known as the Santa Fe Trail. Soon, traders, visitors, and the military would regularly travel the

Discounted Cash Flow
discounted cash flow (DCF
In finance, discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis is a method of valuing a project, company, or asset
using the concepts of the time value of money. All future cash flows are estimated and discounted to
give their present values (PVs) the sum of all future cash flows, both incoming and outgoing, is the net
present value (NPV), which is taken as the value or price of the cash flows in question.
Using DCF analysis to compute the NPV takes as input cash flows and a discount rate and gives as
output a price; the opposite process taking cash flows and a price and inferring a discount rate, is
called the yield.
Discounted cash flow analysis is widely used in investment finance, real estate development, and
corporate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using the DPV formula above (FV=$150,000, i=0.05, n=3), that means that the value of $150,000
received in three years actually has a present value of $129,576 (rounded off). In other words we
would need to invest $129,576 in a T Bond now to get $150,000 in 3 years almost risk free. This is a
quantitative way of showing that money in the future is not as valuable as money in the present
($150,000 in 3 years isn t worth the same as $150,000 now; it is worth $129,576 now).
Subtracting the purchase price of the house ($100,000) from the present value results in the net present
value of the whole transaction, which would be $29,576 or a little more than 29% of the purchase
price.
Another way of looking at the deal as the excess return achieved (over the risk free rate) is (14.5%
5.0%)/(100%+5%) or approximately 9.0% (still very respectable).
But what about risk?
We assume that the $150,000 is John s best estimate of the sale price that he will be able to achieve in
3 years time (after deducting all expenses, of course). There is of course a lot of uncertainty about
house prices, and the outcome may end up higher or lower than this estimate.
(The house John is buying is in a good neighborhood, but market values have been rising quite a lot
lately and the real estate market analysts in the media are talking about a slow down and higher
interest rates. There is a probability that John might not be able to get the full

Spiritual condition evaluation
Throughout the life of my person of interest, knowledge of the existence of a creator has had a
crippling effect in his struggle to reconcile his perception of life and the great desire for divine
approval and acceptance. This is a result of the common belief that moral and spiritual development is
attained through the shedding of dogmatic belief structures, resulting in the elimination of God
towards the attainment of self realization.
Strangely, although the secular aspect is quite vividly seen in his way of life, the religious references
and biblical allusions cannot be ignored. Despite the lack of cultivation and learning in the morals and
ethics of Christianity, he is able to form his own code of behavior based on example and the behavior
he views from others. It should be noted that his instinctive sense of morality comes without
knowledge of God or a creator and while this may seem to be an atheistic or at least secular way of
thinking about how morality is inborn it is impossible to ignore the way the Bible and religious
learning influence even this aspect of his life.
It would seem that he views other people as closer to God, not simply because of his own isolation,
but because he witnesses their apparent ability to function in a world of God. This is seen on his act of
acquiring a sense of morality through observation of behaviors of others
It is evident

Chicago, IL Unfair competition in Chicago, Illinois refers to economic harm caused to an individual
or organization due to some sort of deceptive practice. Unfair competition in Chicago, Illinois may
refer to acts that are used to confuse consumers, as well as a number of other actions that are
inappropriate. Examples of unfair competition include false advertising, misrepresentation, the
misappropriation of trade secrets, and other similar acts. What do you do if you feel that another
individual or organization has used methods of unfair competition, causing economic harm to you or
your company? The first step is hiring an attorney that handles claims of unfair competition.
Depending on the nature of your claim, you may need an attorney that is experienced in both state and
federal law. As you peruse the websites and listings of attorneys in your area, check to see if they list
unfair competition as one of their practice areas. Once you hire an attorney, you will work with that
attorney to pursue your claim. Your attorney will ask you for various forms of proof of the unfair
competition, and perhaps even for the names of witnesses who have knowledge of it. Naming the
proper defendants is also key to the success of unfair competition claims. In many cases, it may be

Mens Rea Essay
n criminal law, the mens rea refers to the defendant s state of mind at the time of their crime and there
are several levels reflecting the need to have a particular mens rea for the offence committed. For
example, in murder or a S:18 offence in the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, the mens rea
present must be that of specific intent, which is where the defendant desired that particular outcome of
their actions. However, it was held in R v Cunningham 1982, that the intention to cause serious harm
was enough to satisfy the mens rea for murder. This shows that, where murder cases are concerned,
that it is relatively easy to prove the required mens rea and in doing so the concept of fault is often
satisfied. This is once again shown in oblique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the original hearing, Ahluwalia was convicted of murder as the law on provocation required the
loss of self control to be immediate, not premeditated and this may have been the case as the
defendant waited for her husband to sleep before murdering him. However, the law has since
developed and provocation now recognises battered woman s syndrome and the slow burn effect it
may cause. If this is the case, then surely a defendant in such a situation cannot face the full wrath of
fault when much of what surrounded the killing was not out of their choice. Even though the actus
reus and mens rea in this case, and also similar cases of R v Duffy 1949 and R v Thornton 1992, were
present, the law s introduction of a Domestic Violence Bill is perhaps confirmation that the concept of
fault can only be appropriately applied when the full circumstances are looked at. This signifies the
importance of defences, as it is here that the law can decide whether or not a person is to blame for
their actions and to what extent it was their fault that the actus reus and mens rea were

The title of the performer, until only decades ago, was denoted by the individual s gender: the actor
being male and the actress being female (gender performing function). In recent times the function of
the performer has become the sole focus with the introduction of the term actor as a universal label for
all thespians. This essay will attempt to assess the voice and roles of the two aforementioned women
in an effort to examine the evolution of the female actor and playwright within their individual period
and the changing function of gender in performance.
The formal entrance of women on the stage in England is usually credited to the epoch of the
Restoration. Amongst the turbulence of the era spiked with civil unrest, religious upheaval, the first
regicide noted in modern history and the initial construction of the commonwealth s skeletal

What does the villain do that does not appeal to the watcher? Hero: a person who, in the opinion of
others, has special achievements, abilities, or a personal qualities and is regarded as a role model or
ideal. Well, a twisted hero is a leader who gets tasks done with different tactics, compared to others. In

Tsunamis become disasters because of the human context in which they occur. Do you agree or
disagree with this statement? Use examples of known tsunami events recently and in the past to
illustrate your arguments.
According to Wisner et al 2004, disasters occur when hazards meet vulnerability, implying that in
unpopulated areas hazards can not become disasters as there is no vulnerability (Quarantelli E.L.
1998). Without humans being involved, tsunamis are nothing but giant waves; they may modify areas
of uninhabited land and destroy some reefs but that does not make them disasters. Tsunamis become
disasters when humans are involved; when their lives are at risk, their homes are destroyed, their
livelihoods are lost etc. In addition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The landscape was altered unrecognisably, with large areas of coastlines washed away and some
landmarks shifted to new locations. Debris and waste were widely scattered and farmland and
underground water supplies flooded (Global Education, 2009). According to Grossman (2012), the
large amount of the estimated 25 million tons of debris caused by both the Tohoku earthquake and
tsunami washed away into the sea could hit the Hawaiian Islands and have catastrophic consequences,
such as damage to the reefs and beaches that are homes of many indigenous species.
The Tohoku tsunami resulted in the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident with three reactors
melting down: the largest nuclear accident since the 1986 Chernobyl disaster (Kyutoku et al., 2012).
Officials from the Japanese Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency reported that radiation levels inside
and outside the plant were up to 1,000 times and 8 times normal levels respectively (Tabuchi and
Walk, 2011). The reactors of the nuclear plant sustained major damage to the cooling system meaning
that radioactive isotopes were released into the air, ultimately leading to contamination of soil, water
and food. Radioactive chemicals were found in tap water in many cities, as well as in the soil and food
products (Hur, 2011). Damage and destruction of water treatment and sewage systems increase the

Colligative Properties Osmotic Pressure
Title: Colligative Properties Osmotic Pressure Background: Important terms to study from this lab
assignment are colligative properties, membrane permeability and osmotic pressure. First, colligative
properties are those of a solution that depend solely on the number of solute particles present, not the
identity of those solute particles. These properties include: vapor pressure lowering, boiling point
elevation, freezing point depression, and osmotic pressure (p. 17 lab manual). In this experiment

When the egg was in the jar of Karo syrup, the egg was obviously not protected by a shell, so the
membrane was soft. Over the 24 hour time span, the syrup started to turn a very yellow tint, and the

looked to be getting flatted almost as if someone pressed it together from the top and bottom. At the
end of the 24 hours, the bottom of the egg was concaved. Questions (Part 1) B. Record the freezing
point of the pure water and the freezing point of the salt solution. The freezing point of the pure water

1. C. How do these two freezing points compare? If there was no experimental error in this lab, the
freezing point of the salt solution would be lower than that of the pure water. In this case it is the
opposite due to error. D. What are some practical applications of freezing point depression, boiling
point elevation, and vapor pressure lowering? An example of freezing point depression is when one
adds anti freeze to car fuel to prevent the fuel from freezing in cold temperatures, like we are
experiencing in the north east region now. An example of boiling point elevation would be the same.
The antifreeze in the car also elevated the temperature of the fuel preventing your car from
overheating. An example of vapor pressure lowering

Essay on Salvador Dali Museum
Word Count: 1283 Salvador Dali Museum The Salvador Dali museum was founded by Dali s leading
collectors, Reynolds and Eleanor Morse. They were not only friends of Dali but also private collectors
of his work. The couple stored the collection in their home for a long period of time, the even agreed
to loan two hundred pieces to a New York Dali retrospective before finally deciding to give the
collection a permanent home. Dali encouraged the couple to build a museum in New York, although
they thought this was a wonderful idea they still kept searching. One of their goals for the collection
was to preserve the collections historical integrity. When word reached St. Petersburg, attorney, James

It includes the Impressionist and Cubist styles of his early period, abstract work from his transition to
Surrealism, and covers the religious and scientific themes of his classic period. Salvador Dali was
born into a middle class family on May 11th 1904 in Figures, Spain. During his lifetime, he was an
eccentric painter, writer, sculptor and experimental film maker. In Dali s early years of painting he
experimented at first with landscapes, most of which were of his home in Figueres, Spain. Dali also
made paintings of the surrounding area of his family s summer home, in the seaside town of
Cadaques. Dali s transitional period was between 1927 and 1929, these were years of experimentation.
In this period gravel, rocks, cork, and other materials can be noted on his canvases. This was more
abstract period then others, at this time in Dali s life he had just been kicked out of the art school he
had been attending . As Dali moved into his Surrealist years he became more interested in psychology
and exploring his own fears and fantasies. Dali s Surrealist period last from 1929 1940, in which years
he joined the Surrealist Movement, and shortly after became a leader in this movement. In order to
bring images from his subconscious mind , Dali began to use a method to find inspiration for his art;
he would induce hallucinatory states in himself. As his work matured, and his fame grew

Susan Blackmore The Memes Machine
Susan Blackmore s idea of memetics is controversial because not many believe it is scientific at all. A
meme is an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture
(Blackmore, 7). Blackmore describes this as singing Happy Birthday to someone or a handshake could
be a meme. A meme is a form of imitation. I say a form of it because Blackmore points out some
differences between the two. The idea of memes is criticized by scientists because they do not feel like
memes are able to comply with the scientific method and prove to be a theory in the ways that they
see fit. Throughout the book Blackmore makes valid points about how memes have coexisted with
evolution, which indeed would make the memetics a science. ... Show more content on

This is defined as imitation from one person to another. Humans are capable of imitation from birth.
Children are taught from imitation, more specifically memes. According to Charles Darwin s Theory
of natural selection, creatures evolve because adaptations in the environment change and the offspring
of these species survive and better adapt, which is evolution. Blackmore then refers to the
evolutionary algorithm as described by Dennett. Evolution in general in the science world relies on
three requisites variation, selection, and heredity. The algorithm solely relies on something being
copied and this is referred to by Dawkins, as a replicator. Specifically, a replicator relies on something
being copied. It is defined as any unit of information which is copied with variations or errors, and
whose nature influences its own probability of replication (Blackmore,

The Major Differences Between Democratic, Authoritarian,...
The major differences between democratic, authoritarian, and anarchic political systems are who holds
the power, who has freedom/how much, and how much involvement the government has in the
workings of its country. For authoritarian states, the power is held mainly by a single person or an elite
group of people, few people have freedom, with what freedom they have being limited, and the
government, or rather the leader/leaders, is involved in almost every aspect of the country from
controlling the economy to making decisions for the lifestyles of its citizens like deciding how many
kids they may have or what hair styles are approved. Everything is at the whim of those in charge and
can change at any second. Anarchic is the exact opposite of this. In an anarchic government, everyone
has power all the power they can take for themselves, nothing is unpermitted as there are no laws and
since a government doesn t exist, it can t have any involvement in anything. Finally there is the
democratic system which is a happy medium between these two extremes. In a democracy, everyone
has some power through the right to vote directly or for elected officials who will run the country
(who are limited by a constitution of some kind), everyone has freedom within the country s generally
reasonable laws, and government involvement is limited to making laws and regulations within reason
to protect its citizens, economy, etc. For example, you would not see a democratic nation forbidding

Apa Guide
APA Format: What Does It Mean?
Almost every KGSM written assignment specifies that the paper conform to APA style. But no one
really knows what this means. At the very least, the requirement could be that references be cited as
described in the APA manual. But APA style involves a lot more. In this document, I will explain
and/or provide examples of what I, personally, consider to be important in my classes. Some
professors may require more or less. My best advice for what to do in other classes is to ask the
professor.
Two Required Elements
Every paper has to have an introduction and a conclusion. The introduction establishes why the reader
should read the paper. Notice that the introduction does not get a heading. The ... Show more content

I am told Word also has a utility for managing references. I have never used it. You could also keep
track of everything manually.
Citations
Some students may be familiar with the use of footnotes to provide information about sources of
information. With APA format, footnotes are not used for this purpose. Instead, we use in text citations
and a references page near the end of the paper. The rules of the formatting of citations and references
are somewhat arcane. Typically, professors will be okay with your formatting being pretty close. I am.
Some professors might be sticklers about this. You might want to ask before beginning your writing
assignment. Software such as Reference Point or EndNote will take care of the formatting for you if
you use such software. Otherwise you will want to pay close attention to examples provided in the
manual or other trusted sources.
Here are some example citations and references. In some cases, I have simplified, maybe over
simplified some of the rules. I will be happy if you use the basics. You might want to ask your
professor if you need to be more of a stickler. Here are citations for a book (Giorgi, 2009), a journal
article (J. B. Walther, 1995), a web site (American Psychological Association, 2010), an edited book
(Rehorick amp; Bentz, 2008), a section of a book (Polkinghorne, 1989), and a government document

Run on Sentences
Run on Sentences
Run on sentences are sentences that contain too many ideas without proper punctuation. Not all long
sentences are run on sentences. It is perfectly acceptable to join several related ideas in one compound
sentence. However, if you don t follow punctuation rules, a sentence can become a run on. A simple
explanation of run ons and some examples of run on sentences should help to make this point clear.
Components of A Sentence
Each sentence has 3 necessary components 1. A subject: What is this sentence about? The subject is
usually, but not always, a noun or a pronoun. 2. An action: What is the subject of the sentence doing?
The action is always a verb. 3. A complete thought: What is the purpose of this ... Show more content

For example, it would be acceptable to say Ann likes to read; she reads lots of books and goes to the

A SENTENCE FRAGMENT fails to be a sentence in the sense that it cannot stand by itself. It does
not contain even one independent clause. There are several reasons why a group of words may seem to
act like a sentence but not have the wherewithal to make it as a complete thought.
It may locate something in time and place with a prepositional phrase or a series of such phrases, but it
s still lacking a proper subject verb relationship within an independent clause:
In Japan, during the last war and just before the armistice.
This sentence accomplishes a great deal in terms of placing the reader in time and place, but there is
no subject, no verb.
It describes something, but there is no subject verb relationship:
Working far into the night in an effort to salvage her little boat.
This is a verbal phrase that wants to modify something, the real subject of the sentence (about to come
up), probably the she who was working so hard.
It may have most of the makings of a sentence but still be missing an important part of a verb string:
Some of the students working in Professor Espinoza s laboratory last semester.
Remember that an ing verb form without an auxiliary form to accompany it can never be a verb.
It may even have a subject verb relationship, but it has been subordinated to

Preoperational Stage
Another thing in my class I will design around preoperational stage is art. Art is a good way of
measuring the mental maturation of children as they grow. Art is a form of mental communication that
children in all walks of life, from all over the world tend to use to express thoughts and emotions.
Drawings, illustrations, shapes and colors are all used by children to describe what is happening in
their minds. Cooks and Cooks (2014) state that preoperational children s increasing ability to use
mental presentation is also seen clearly in the are they produce. For example, if a child were to draw
the same drawing at different ages, it would be seen that as the child mentally matures the more
detailed the drawings become. In my classroom, I will give the children a great deal of art supplies
such as paper, colored pencils, crayons, water based markers for them to draw on when they want. I
will encourage them to tell me about their drawing and what do they mean. I will limit the use of
workbooks and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Early Stages of The Industrial Revolution In Britain:
How Factories That Burned Coal Created Air Pollution
In the long process of human history, with the occurrence of the industrial revolution, Britain was the
first country to go through industrialisation. People give high marks on this industrial revolution,
considering that it marks the beginning of a new era in human history; has passed the previous
agricultural economy and has lead the human has into the industrial age. Today, however, when we

II. Using machines excluded the restriction of all kinds of natural conditions and also value added use
of plants. III. With the expansion of factories, some large scale factories raised their productivity
gradually. Take cotton textile as an example, the invention of the spinning frame by Sir Richard
Arkwright and the invention of the spinning mule by Samuel Crompton helped to raise productivity
rapidly. If you wanted to process 100 pounds of cotton, you could use India hand spinning labour,
which needed 50,000 hours; But you could use spinning mule with 100 spindles and only need 1,000
hours. Or you could use the steam engine spinning mule and only need 300 hours. In 1825, Roberts
Loom s self acting spinning mule needed just 135 hours. IV. A factory owner aimed to make the
maximisation of profit his most important goal. Extensive production increased personal wealth
rapidly and satisfied people s desire for money.
Just because of the industry system, factory owners have an inner drive to despite everything expand
the production scale just to earn more profit and this can be implemented and amplified with machines
material strength. Therefore, in the 1830s, textiles were built in an astonishing speed. The ships of the
English swarm like flies; their printed calicoes cover the whole earth . Not only did occurred

In Reverence Research Paper
With nothing but a demo and a relatively unknown five year old EP named Hallucination under
their bullet belts, In Reverence has erupted from the vast pool of upcoming death metal bands with
vicious charisma and brimming with confidence alongside the release of their dystopian themed debut

the level of professionalism expected from seasoned bands such as Behemoth and Dimmu Borgir even

at the back of the mix yet always visible slither around unhurriedly during the title track and

PAINT INDUSTRY IN INDIA
The Indian paint industry has been growing rapidly since past few years. The future of paint industry
in India is even brighter as the per capita consumption of paints in India is as low as 1.25 kg. The size
of the Indian paint industry is approximately 940 million litres/annum valued at approximately $2
billion. Over the last ten years, the industry has grown at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR)
of 12 13% and in the next five years, it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 11 12%. Growth in housing,
automobiles and construction are all driving the rise in current consumption. The paint industry is
broadly divided into two segments:
Decorative paints

Analysis Of Coming Of Age In Mississippi
A wise man named Mahatma Gandhi once said, The moment the slave resolves that he will no longer
be a slave, his fetters fall. He frees himself and shows the way to others. Freedom and slavery are
mental states. In other words, Gandhi justifies that there would be a possibility in which slavery could
have ended earlier if the Negroes had spoken up sooner. They could be physically strong, but their
mental state were incredibly weak. In this book called, Coming of Age in Mississippi, written by Anne
Moody, who was also the main character, is an autobiography of herself talking about her poor
childhood and her involvement in several organizations against slavery. Moody s journey was to
establish that suffering in life has impacted her to strongly overcome the circumstances, which lead
her to succeed in life. Suffering is a state of deprivation in which can cause physical and emotional
pain. In this book, Coming of Age in Mississippi, the author had provided several events in which the
main character, Moody, experienced suffering in her life at a very young age. As a black family in the
rural South, they were obviously poor who lack of food to eat for their own nutrition. However, her
miserable life lead her to become pessimistic. Moody justifies, Before, the woods had always done so
much for me. Once I could actually go out into the woods and communicate with God, or Nature or
something. Now that something didn t come through. It was just not there anymore. More than ever I

Periodic Trends Lab
In this lab, students compared the periodic trends of the elements in comparison to the atomic number.
A periodic trend is the tendency of certain properties of the elements to increase or decrease as one
progresses along a row or column of the periodic table. The periodic table is arranged in such a way
that these trends are easy to compare, which is the purpose of this lab. One trend, for example, is
between the electronegativity and the atomic number on an element, another being the density. When
comparing the trends, notice that electronegativity decreases when going down the groups, or
columns, of the period table, whereas the density increases. The reason for the increase in the density,
which is the relationship between the mass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The noble gases are the gaseous elements helium, neon, argon, krypton, xenon, and radon, in group 18
of the periodic table. Additionally, they are considered the most unreactive of the elements, due to the
fact that the valence electrons are all full , thus making the group the most stable, as well. When it
comes to the periodic trends, the noble gases have the some of the lowest densities because they are
gaseous elements, meaning they state of matter consisting of particles that have neither a definite
volume nor definite shape. The lack of electronegativity of the noble gasses is based off of their group,
which already has a full outer shell, meaning they do not attract any electrons. In final analysis, the
electronegativity and density periodic trends trends are fairly consistent. Electronegativity decreases
when going down groups, while density increases. However, the outliers of these trends are the noble
gases, because of their stable, unreactive properties. In addition to helping students learn about
periodic trends, it also demonstrated to students how these trends were of great use for previous
scientists when they worked together to discover new elements that were missing on the periodic

Disease Surveillance And Investigation Efforts
There are eighty communicable diseases that are required to be reported to the Department of Public
Health as part of the disease surveillance and investigation efforts. Every state has a website on what
to report, to who and time frames which it should be done. ( Reportable Diseases/Conditions in
Florida, 2014). It is everyone s duty as a medical professional to follow these rules to report to their
health department due to the possible spread of diseases. Communicable diseases can be prevented or
lessened the side effects with vaccines and education.
One common disease is the chickenpox. It is caused by the Varicella zoster virus. ( History of chicken
pox, 2013). History shows that chickenpox may have been around since Babylonian times. Anyone at
any age can get this disease. Chickenpox is contagious from one to two days before the rash appears
until all blisters have formed scabs. It spreads from person to person by direct contact or through the
air from an infected person s coughing or sneezing. It can also be transmitted from the fluid from the
blisters they cause until they are scabbed. The virus has a ten to twenty one days of an incubation
period. Chickenpox is usually diagnosed by the appearance of the rash the person has. The chickenpox
disease can start without warning or with a fever and a runny nose. Most common symptoms that
people are aware of are the red spots that appear on the upper trunk, neck, stomach, face and scalp that

Criticize The Way People Think And Behave
There are people all over the world that criticize the way people think and behave. People think that it
is so easy doing what others have to, even if they have never been in the same situation. If you were
the president and you chose to bomb a country that was planning to bomb you soon and another
country suffered from its aftershocks and somebody said that you are doing your job wrong, but they
never seen or done the job before do you think that that person s opinion would be right. When you
tell someone that what they think is right at the moment is wrong and you do not have enough
knowledge of what it is about, you are not seeing the situation from their People should learn to see
the situation from other people s point of view. It is

In The Strawberry Fields By Eric Schlosser
Title: Anything But Free The Migratory Work Force in California America, United Stated of America
(USA), is a land of immigrants. The country was built by immigrants but gradually immigration to
this country became harder. Several contagious nations of American continents have lot of population
living in poverty and were strongly convinced to immigrate to USA illegally, by travelling on foot for
several days, crossing deserts, mountains and the southern border of USA, to get a decent and secured
better life for them and for their kids. Eric Schlosser in his article In the Strawberry Fields honestly
assessed the conditions of the migratory work force in California straw berry fields while providing

On the other hand the govern should study the market constantly and identify the foreign entities that
illegally dump their products in to the market to gain the price advantage, impose sanction on such
organizations and create a market where American products thrive and support our economy. TOPIC:
Depressed Living conditions Almost all farm workers are illegal immigrants and are day laborers,
must chase crops to make a living. Farm workers are also constantly at the mercy of variable
adversities like natural disasters and bad weather. On average illegal migrant workers spend half of the
year working and quarter of the year looking for a job. In addition illegal immigrants are hard to find a
place to stay because they are in not in legal status and are required proper documentation by law to
rent an apartment. On the other hand Illegal immigrants keep move place to place to find a job and
looking for shelter to stay. Most of the illegal immigrants live with fear in face all time because of lack
of job security and insecure life. According to Schlosser s article In 1951 the President s Commission
on Migratory Labor condemned the abysmal living conditions of illegal immigrants employed as
migrant farm workers in the United States. At the time, workers were found living in orchards and
irrigation ditches. They

Cbr Intervention Model
In the United States (U.S.) 117 million adults have chronic diseases, approximately 24.3% of this
population has at least one chronic disease and 26% has multiple chronic diseases (Ward, Schiller et
al. 2014). Seven of the top 10 causes of deaths in the U.S. are chronic diseases (Statistics 2016).
Incidence and mortality rates are different for different racial groups (CDC MMWR, 2013); African
Americans (AA) particularly experience higher incidence and mortality rates for chronic diseases like
diabetes, cancer and heart disease (CDC, 2013). Furthermore, African Americans in South Carolina
(SC) have some of the largest health disparities in the nation (U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

continuously, a one unit increase in health messages was associated with a decrease in HbA1c%
(p=0.01). No other statistically significant associations were observed for the continuous form of
health messages (data not shown). When stratified by intervention status, controls showed a similar
pattern of results. However, these findings were not observed among the intervention group. However,
those in the intervention group attending churches with more health messages had lower CRP
compared to intervention participants in churches with fewer health messages (mean: 1.76 vs. 2.44,
p=0.05; Table 2). When CRP was dichotomized (i.e., ≤3.0 vs. 3.0mg/L) the odds ratios between those
attending churches with fewer health messages compared to those attending churches with more
health messages were as follows: all participants (odds ratio [OR]=2.78, 95% confidence interval
[95%CI]=1.19 6.48), intervention (OR=5.86, 95%CI=1.51 22.81), and control (OR=1.27,

The Pros And Cons Of Testimonial Silencing
Testimonial silencing has two parts that corresponds with failures of the audience to reciprocate
successfully and coerced silencing of the speaker by the audience. The former refers to testimonial
quieting, which occurs when the audience, intentionally or unintentionally, fails to identify the speaker
as a knower, owing to pernicious ignorance harmful reliable ignorance (Dotson 242). The latter refers
to testimonial smothering, which is when an audience demonstrates testimonial incompetence with
respect to the content of potential testimony so the speaker truncates her testimony (Dotson 245). A
successful linguistic exchange requires the audience to both understand the speaker s words and
understand what the speaker is doing with the words (Dotson 237). A failure to accomplish this,
unintentionally or intentionally, is epistemic violence. Furthermore, in testimonial quieting, the
audience is failing to hear and understand what the speaker is saying in her testimony. Because the
speaker cannot force the audience to hear her/him, there is no reciprocity between audience and
speaker, thus, it s a failed linguistic exchange. This pattern of failing to identify the speaker as a
knower is more prevalent to certain groups of people who are systematically silenced (i.e. black
women). This form of silencing is because of harmful reliable ignorance (pernicious ignorance) which
may cause harms to one s intellect, epistemic agency, and intellectual traditions of entire groups.

The Importance Of Personal Communication
A Few Kind Words I believe in the importance of saying something kind to everyone. I personally try
to give someone positive feedback, even when they do something wrong or just tell them that I still
believe in them when they fail. I do not see this consistently enough in today s society. I have learned
from personal experience how much positive feedback can actually affect someone s self esteem or
influence someone s outlook on his or her life. I will start with one of my personal experiences when I
was in Iraq for my first deployment with the Army. It was another typical end of a twelve hour
mission. The sky still had that orange glow that came from the sunset and collection of sand in the
atmosphere. There were the typical two soldiers up in the tower, one of them yelled down at gate
control that a convoy was coming in; it was nice knowing they were paying attention. Once inside the
Combat Operation Base, my driver parked the Mine Resistant Ambush Protect vehicles (MRAP) next
to the other MRAPs. While he started his after mission maintenance by checking all fluids and
cleaning out the air filters on our MRAP, I started dismounting the M240 machine gun and shutting
down all radios. Still standing in my gunners hole, which is on the top of the MRAP, as I waited for
the radios to finish shutting down, I start to hear that religious music that always seems to play around
this time of night. That music always seems to soothe me into sleep. This reminds me of how late it
was

 • 2. Middle English Research Paper English started as a West Germanic language spoken in England attributable to migration from the southern shores of the sea. The migrants are known as Anglo Saxons however there s doubt on whether or not it s really their name. English shows a nearer respect to Frisian than to the types of German spoken within the sea areas of Germany, even within the earliest times. The stage of English from its creation by the Anglo Saxons to shortly after the Norman Conquest was named Old English . The earliest English language was far more inflected than modern English; it had a way smaller vocabulary with few loanwords from alternative languages and an easier grammar structure. It s unrecognisable to modern English speakers nowadays. It was modified an excellent deal over six centuries attributable to influences from multiple languages. Latin loaned some words to germanic languages across the continent, and so most came to English once the Anglo Saxons became Christianised. A number of this new vocabulary came from Latin, Greek, and Old Norse, the language of the Norwegians who 1st raided as Vikings and later came to settle. it was an analogous language to English however far enough away to mean there had to be a compromise language created between Anglo Saxon and Norse individuals. this led to plenty of vocabulary being ported from other Germanic languages to English. The era from 1100 to 1500 was dubbed Middle English. The language throughout this point 1st had to contend with Anglo Norman, at the time the official language of the country, and there are few texts from the late eleventh and twelfth centuries to inform us what English was like. It continued to be spoken by the huge majority of the population and there was never in any danger of alternative languages taking up. Norman French had a large vocabulary input into English at this point, and also the combined influence of it and the earlier Norse weakened the inflectional system and led English into a language that contained much fewer endings and and fixed word order. The Anglo Saxon alphabet was slowly lost as they it was seen as inferior by French influenced writers, and instead new French styled digraphs were introduced to spell sounds the old ... Owning a parrot is an incredible commitment. It requires 24 hour responsibility and an awareness of factors that most people never give a second thought to. Some of these factors can mean life or death to a parrot. We still do not know very much about how our day to day living affects our feathered companions, so it s important to remain up to date and continue your research every day. Parrots have a very sensitive respiratory system. They have a set of lungs as well as air sacs that are distributed throughout the body. This makes their breathing extremely efficient and incredibly sensitive to chemicals and fumes. Scented candles, plug in home deodorizers, hair products and perfumes, cigarettes, etc. can cause great harm and even death when used in the same room as a parrot. If it smells strongly to you, it could be harming your parrot. On the other side of that, there are many products that we cannot smell that can be just as harmful. PTFE/non stick coated cookware, space heaters, self cleaning ovens, etc. have the potential to off gas and release very harmful fumes that can kill parrots in a matter of seconds. Many products are being manufactured with non stick parts that are not listed in their manuals/warning paperwork. This is where doing your research is imperative. In other words we would need to invest $129,576 in a T Bond now to get $150,000 in 3 years almost risk free. This is a quantitative way of showing that money in the future is not as valuable as money in the present ($150,000 in 3 years isn t worth the same as $150,000 now; it is worth $129,576 now). Subtracting the purchase price of the house ($100,000) from the present value results in the net present value of the whole transaction, which would be $29,576 or a little more than 29% of the purchase price. For example, in murder or a S:18 offence in the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, the mens rea present must be that of specific intent, which is where the defendant desired that particular outcome of their actions. However, it was held in R v Cunningham 1982, that the intention to cause serious harm was enough to satisfy the mens rea for murder. If this is the case, then surely a defendant in such a situation cannot face the full wrath of fault when much of what surrounded the killing was not out of their choice. Even though the actus reus and mens rea in this case, and also similar cases of R v Duffy 1949 and R v Thornton 1992, were present, the law s introduction of a Domestic Violence Bill is perhaps confirmation that the concept of fault can only be appropriately applied when the full circumstances are looked at. The couple stored the collection in their home for a long period of time, the even agreed to loan two hundred pieces to a New York Dali retrospective before finally deciding to give the collection a permanent home. Dali encouraged the couple to build a museum in New York, although they thought this was a wonderful idea they still kept searching. It includes the Impressionist and Cubist styles of his early period, abstract work from his transition to Surrealism, and covers the religious and scientific themes of his classic period. Salvador Dali was born into a middle class family on May 11th 1904 in Figures, Spain. During his lifetime, he was an eccentric painter, writer, sculptor and experimental film maker. In Dali s early years of painting he experimented at first with landscapes, most of which were of his home in Figueres, Spain. Dali also made paintings of the surrounding area of his family s summer home, in the seaside town of Cadaques. Dali s transitional period was between 1927 and 1929, these were years of experimentation. In this period gravel, rocks, cork, and other materials can be noted on his canvases. This was more abstract period then others, at this time in Dali s life he had just been kicked out of the art school he had been attending . As Dali moved into his Surrealist years he became more interested in psychology and exploring his own fears and fantasies. Dali s Surrealist period last from 1929 1940, in which years he joined the Surrealist Movement, and shortly after became a leader in this movement. • 24. Susan Blackmore The Memes Machine Susan Blackmore s idea of memetics is controversial because not many believe it is scientific at all. A meme is an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture (Blackmore, 7). Blackmore describes this as singing Happy Birthday to someone or a handshake could be a meme. A meme is a form of imitation. I say a form of it because Blackmore points out some differences between the two. The idea of memes is criticized by scientists because they do not feel like memes are able to comply with the scientific method and prove to be a theory in the ways that they see fit. Throughout the book Blackmore makes valid points about how memes have coexisted with evolution, which indeed would make the memetics a science. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Charles Darwin s Theory of natural selection, creatures evolve because adaptations in the environment change and the offspring of these species survive and better adapt, which is evolution. Blackmore then refers to the evolutionary algorithm as described by Dennett. Evolution in general in the science world relies on three requisites variation, selection, and heredity. The algorithm solely relies on something being copied and this is referred to by Dawkins, as a replicator. Specifically, a replicator relies on something being copied. • 25. The Major Differences Between Democratic, Authoritarian,... The major differences between democratic, authoritarian, and anarchic political systems are who holds the power, who has freedom/how much, and how much involvement the government has in the workings of its country. For authoritarian states, the power is held mainly by a single person or an elite group of people, few people have freedom, with what freedom they have being limited, and the government, or rather the leader/leaders, is involved in almost every aspect of the country from controlling the economy to making decisions for the lifestyles of its citizens like deciding how many kids they may have or what hair styles are approved. Everything is at the whim of those in charge and can change at any second. Anarchic is the exact opposite of this. In an anarchic government, everyone has power all the power they can take for themselves, nothing is unpermitted as there are no laws and since a government doesn t exist, it can t have any involvement in anything. Finally there is the democratic system which is a happy medium between these two extremes. In a democracy, everyone has some power through the right to vote directly or for elected officials who will run the country (who are limited by a constitution of some kind), everyone has freedom within the country s generally reasonable laws, and government involvement is limited to making laws and regulations within reason to protect its citizens, economy, etc. For example, you would not see a democratic nation forbidding speaking ... It is perfectly acceptable to join several related ideas in one compound sentence. However, if you don t follow punctuation rules, a sentence can become a run on. A simple explanation of run ons and some examples of run on sentences should help to make this point clear. Components of A Sentence Each sentence has 3 necessary components 1. Art is a form of mental communication that children in all walks of life, from all over the world tend to use to express thoughts and emotions. Drawings, illustrations, shapes and colors are all used by children to describe what is happening in their minds. When it comes to the periodic trends, the noble gases have the some of the lowest densities because they are gaseous elements, meaning they state of matter consisting of particles that have neither a definite volume nor definite shape. The lack of electronegativity of the noble gasses is based off of their group, which already has a full outer shell, meaning they do not attract any electrons. Incidence and mortality rates are different for different racial groups (CDC MMWR, 2013); African Americans (AA) particularly experience higher incidence and mortality rates for chronic diseases like diabetes, cancer and heart disease (CDC, 2013). Furthermore, African Americans in South Carolina (SC) have some of the largest health disparities in the nation (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and ... When analysed continuously, a one unit increase in health messages was associated with a decrease in HbA1c% (p=0.01). No other statistically significant associations were observed for the continuous form of health messages (data not shown). When stratified by intervention status, controls showed a similar pattern of results. However, these findings were not observed among the intervention group. However, those in the intervention group attending churches with more health messages had lower CRP compared to intervention participants in churches with fewer health messages (mean: 1.76 vs. 2.44, p=0.05; Table 2). When CRP was dichotomized (i.e., ≤3.0 vs. 3.0mg/L) the odds ratios between those attending churches with fewer health messages compared to those attending churches with more health messages were as follows: all participants (odds ratio [OR]=2.78, 95% confidence interval [95%CI]=1.19 6.48), intervention (OR=5.86, 95%CI=1.51 22.81), and control (OR=1.27, 95%CI=0.40 4.09; data not ... • 47. The Pros And Cons Of Testimonial Silencing Testimonial silencing has two parts that corresponds with failures of the audience to reciprocate successfully and coerced silencing of the speaker by the audience. The former refers to testimonial quieting, which occurs when the audience, intentionally or unintentionally, fails to identify the speaker as a knower, owing to pernicious ignorance harmful reliable ignorance (Dotson 242). The latter refers to testimonial smothering, which is when an audience demonstrates testimonial incompetence with respect to the content of potential testimony so the speaker truncates her testimony (Dotson 245). A successful linguistic exchange requires the audience to both understand the speaker s words and understand what the speaker is doing with the words (Dotson 237). A failure to accomplish this, unintentionally or intentionally, is epistemic violence. Furthermore, in testimonial quieting, the audience is failing to hear and understand what the speaker is saying in her testimony. Because the speaker cannot force the audience to hear her/him, there is no reciprocity between audience and speaker, thus, it s a failed linguistic exchange. This pattern of failing to identify the speaker as a knower is more prevalent to certain groups of people who are systematically silenced (i.e. black women). This form of silencing is because of harmful reliable ignorance (pernicious ignorance) which may cause harms to one s intellect, epistemic agency, and intellectual traditions of entire groups. ... • 48. The Importance Of Personal Communication A Few Kind Words I believe in the importance of saying something kind to everyone. I personally try to give someone positive feedback, even when they do something wrong or just tell them that I still believe in them when they fail. I do not see this consistently enough in today s society. I have learned from personal experience how much positive feedback can actually affect someone s self esteem or influence someone s outlook on his or her life. I will start with one of my personal experiences when I was in Iraq for my first deployment with the Army. It was another typical end of a twelve hour mission. The sky still had that orange glow that came from the sunset and collection of sand in the atmosphere. There were the typical two soldiers up in the tower, one of them yelled down at gate control that a convoy was coming in; it was nice knowing they were paying attention. Once inside the Combat Operation Base, my driver parked the Mine Resistant Ambush Protect vehicles (MRAP) next to the other MRAPs. While he started his after mission maintenance by checking all fluids and cleaning out the air filters on our MRAP, I started dismounting the M240 machine gun and shutting down all radios. Still standing in my gunners hole, which is on the top of the MRAP, as I waited for the radios to finish shutting down, I start to hear that religious music that always seems to play around this time of night. That music always seems to soothe me into sleep. This reminds me of how late it was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
